- 0:16I'm Scott Auld here for Gen Xers and Boomers who feel shut out of the modern
- 0:20technical world. Let's make the frustrating useful in plain language without any
- 0:26hype. Join us here at the cool kids table for winning the week live every
- 0:31Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Eastern and as you can see we've got some cool stuff
- 0:36headed up here this this show tonight I'm gonna do our I'm gonna do another
- 0:40reminder of the live stream calendar that I made and maybe I'll show you my
- 0:44weather app Uh, I want to talk to you guys about something I'm calling the Job
- 0:49Not Feelings model. We'll take a peek, peek at who's in Discord.
- 0:54We'll talk again about getting force unsubscribed, just a good reminder on that.
- 0:59and we've got some other cool stuff to do when we get through that.
- 1:02So let's just jump in there.
- 1:04Let's see here. Geraldine says, I have a shout out request.
- 1:07You guys are really not my audience, but I guess it doesn't hurt to share.
- 1:10I am very proud. I'm putting together a workshop called Concert Countdown.
- 1:16Well, Geraldine, I think you need to join our Discord.
- 1:18That's what I think. I think you need to jump in our Discord, and then you can
- 1:21write out a full description of the Concert Countdown, and you will get a full
- 1:26100% guaranteed shoutout. However you like to write it.
- 1:32Very cool. Oh my gosh, did you do it again, Devin?
- 1:36R Devin, what happened? Did you do it again?
- 1:38Hello kitty cat. Come on up here.
- 1:40How you doing? Hello Suzuki.
- 1:42She was sleeping on my son's bed just a little while ago, Devin.
- 1:46Looks like you did it again.
- 1:47I see a whole bunch more new names coming.
- 1:49Did you do it again, man? I have to do I have to do the laser show again?
- 1:53maybe see the thing is it's really bad it's really bad at telling me
- 1:58when like the the software that I use you know Ecamm
- 2:04it tells me when all these people received a gift, a gift membership, Carrie's
- 2:09Musings. Hey, travel around.
- 2:11Susie got one. How fantastic is that?
- 2:14But Uh, Sam Lee,
- 2:17and Kevin Hamburger, and Exploradora, I remember her.
- 2:22Mrs. Womblekek, Susan,
- 2:24and uh, all these people got, it looks like, it looks like it happened again.
- 2:30Oh, it was Whitcomb, the Whitcombs did it!
- 2:33Traveling Whitcombs did it.
- 2:34See, this thing is so bad at notifying me.
- 2:37Who did it? And it, it just tells me that all these people got gift memberships,
- 2:42but it doesn't say from whom and I, unless I'm really blind, it does
- 2:48say it. Actually, I'm just really blind.
- 2:50Look at this. Here's an example of one of them, but look at how much text it is
- 2:54for me to wade through before I finally get to see it.
- 2:56Bye. Thank you very much, Brandon and Ashton.
- 2:58That was super sweet of you guys and you got the laser show.
- 3:01I'll give you another laser show.
- 3:02Here's another laser show just for fun because we love the laser show.
- 3:06Zukit, you want to go back over there?
- 3:11Go lay down on that other laptop.
- 3:12It's nice and it's nice and warm.
- 3:15Nope, go play. go play so let's see here if I miss
- 3:21anything cool and interesting in the chat Devin says that's 15 do we have 20
- 3:27you guys are very generous I really appreciate that thank you hey Amy how's it
- 3:33going dropping in how are things going What is shaking Kevin Bacon?
- 3:38And Mr. Fred is here. Good to see Fred.
- 3:40I was just talking to Fred earlier tonight in the Discord live voice chat.
- 3:46Devin, I really like your avatar picture there with the three dudes.
- 3:50Mr. Outdoorsy. Very cool.
- 3:52Love it. And Mac is using those cool stickers.
- 3:56Jenny, Jenny, in the house.
- 3:58How is it going, Jen? What have you been up to?
- 4:00Haven't seen you lately? You been hiding, haven't seen you in Discord, Mike
- 4:06says, for some reason, I can't hear membership from my phone, except for one
- 4:10channel, TuberChat, it's the only channel I can get, really, you can't, you
- 4:13can't give them, huh, boy, that's weird.
- 4:16Sometimes YouTube is acting really weird, I was, um, you know, I was on the
- 4:19TuberChat channel a little while ago.
- 4:21was just bored flipping through YouTube and I was watching him for a little bit
- 4:25and I saw him talking about the Resident Rev-secutioner.
- 4:30Speaking of the Resident Rev-secutioner, did you guys see my impromptu live
- 4:34stream around six o'clock tonight?
- 4:36I decided to go back and read the Reverend's 80-page manifesto shout-out from
- 4:42last week. I felt like he deserved to get that entire
- 4:48shout out read. It took me nine minutes, nine minute live stream to get through
- 4:53reading his shout out. So insane insane man.
- 4:57He's crazy.
- 4:58But we love him. Hello there, Glenn.
- 5:00How are you doing, sir? I was enjoying your live stream the other day.
- 5:07hunting or something, I can't remember.
- 5:09I think you were checking out a deer hunt or something, right?
- 5:13And the army medic is in the house.
- 5:15First aid class, first aid kit.
- 5:17Know where doctor, nurse, medic live in your area.
- 5:20Do not get hurt in the first silly place.
- 5:22Suspect, knack, back, injury.
- 5:24Do not move them. Army medic.
- 5:27Always good advice from our friend, the army medic home school dude.
- 5:31Good. Oh my gosh you are gonna get a laser show and a half Mike look at this
- 5:38super chat 1999 let me get some diet sweet tea for all the new folks that's
- 5:44great man hey I've got a very special simultaneous sip coming up thank you Mike
- 5:50that was so nice of you I appreciate that buddy you guys are all the most
- 5:55awesome generous community on the entire YouTubes.
- 5:58I'm telling you, I'm telling you.
- 6:00Now, Amy, you know the rule.
- 6:02You can't tell us you're having a supper if you don't tell us what you're
- 6:05having. I made macaroni and cheese with bacon.
- 6:09I first fried up some bacon and then I made some macaroni and cheese.
- 6:13It was macaroni and cheese deluxe hamburger helper.
- 6:18And then I put the bacon that I mean.
- 6:19top of it and it was super yummy so all right let's do the special version
- 6:26of the simultaneous sip I think we got to do that and instead of me reading it
- 6:31to you like always guess what hey Catherine good to see you're here instead of
- 6:36I've got a special I've got a special edition of the simultaneous sip tonight
- 6:40and here's what we're gonna do we're gonna let the man Do it himself.
- 6:44This is simultaneous of replay now We're gonna do my Cat
- 6:50or not
- 7:01Good morning and welcome to the highlight of Cuban Civilization it's called
- 7:06coffee with Scott Adams and carry the cat and you've never had a better time,
- 7:11but if you'd like to take a chance on elevating your experience to levels that
- 7:17nobody can even understand with tiny shiny human brains, all you need for that
- 7:23is a cup or a mug or a glass of tankard shells or stein, a canteen, a jug or
- 7:28flask, a vessel of any kind.
- 7:30Fill it with your favorite liquid.
- 7:32I like coffee. And join me now for the unparalleled pleasure of the day, the
- 7:37thing that makes everything better, it's called the simultaneous sip, and it
- 7:42happens. All right now, go.
- 7:45Gary, come over here.
- 7:51So good. Actually, it wasn't very good, but it was better if I tell you it was.
- 7:59There we go, ladies and gentlemen.
- 8:00The original simultaneous sipper.
- 8:03Yes, Suzuki's over here, too.
- 8:05So I have, you know, I hate those type of commercials.
- 8:08The voices are definitely, every commercial is cringe, if you ask me.
- 8:12But, you know me, I want the world to be value for value.
- 8:16But I have YouTube Premium, so I don't have those stupid commercials.
- 8:20but when I use Ecamm-Lives...
- 8:23Um, add a website widget that's basically just a widget that pulls up a website
- 8:28and I put in the URL to a video, it doesn't know that we got premium, it's just
- 8:33connecting to it like a stranger.
- 8:35So you get ads, but it's kind of cool that you can do that, you know, that's
- 8:38sort of fun.
- 8:40Army Medic here has some good advice, um, chicken soup with garlic and onions
- 8:46before the of cold weather to boost immune system.
- 8:48Now. That's good news for the rest of you.
- 8:51We don't have We don't have cold season down here.
- 8:55So we don't have to worry about that Jenny glad you liked it.
- 8:58I thought you might get a kick out of the original simultaneous sipper I agree
- 9:02with you and it was kind of cool to have that there.
- 9:05So hey listen, this is kind of an anniversary This is the 18 month anniversary
- 9:10of when I flipped the channel and stopped being motorcycle man I started doing
- 9:15escaping the suburbs,
- 9:17which eventually became winning the week.
- 9:19So I thought next week to celebrate, we'll do a garden party.
- 9:23What I'm going to do, is I'm going to create a zoom party and I'm going to have
- 9:28an open link that anybody can join and you just launch zoom.
- 9:32You can either install the app or you can come in through your web browser, the
- 9:36zoom browser, and anybody who wants to join.
- 9:39The way Ecamm works with Zoom is anybody who joins the Zoom meeting shows up as
- 9:44a virtual camera.
- 9:47And the camera slash microphone of anybody who joins, I can add them in and
- 9:51we'll have a big old, we'll have us a big old party line.
- 9:55It'll be like the old-fashioned party line where everybody got on the same phone
- 9:58line in town and we're all talking to each other and hopefully it won't be too
- 10:02chaotic. We'll have to all kind of Not talk over each other, but we'll do a
- 10:07little bit of a garden party.
- 10:08We'll have a little bit of a party line next week.
- 10:12So sometime between now and next week, test zoom, okay?
- 10:17Install zoom on your computer or on your phone.
- 10:20R And if you're going to use your phone, learn how to hold the silly thing, you
- 10:24know. In the right place. So we don't look up your nostrils.
- 10:27I don't want to be looking up at people's chins or anything.
- 10:29I want to see a nice level camera set up.
- 10:32You guys are all professional YouTubers and next week we'll have a party.
- 10:36We'll get together and we'll have as many people as we want to join because I
- 10:40got this big old fancy new powerful computer that can handle all these jobs.
- 10:45So why don't we Hopefully, hopefully the chaos stays.
- 10:49Chill, but I'm looking forward to seeing some of you guys in the group hangout
- 10:53We won't do it, you know for two hours, but we'll do it till everybody's tired
- 10:56of it and see how that goes
- 10:59Yeah, exactly. It's a zoo party.
- 11:01That's what it'll be Devin's still gonna be on the night shift So you're not
- 11:04gonna be able to do maybe you can join silently That would be pretty cool
- 11:13See, now this is good advice, but that doesn't help me because I'm trying to see
- 11:17I
- 11:17don't
- 11:33Sir. when I'm doing the web plug-in on Ecamm it doesn't work that way that's not
- 11:39how it works so when you add a when you add a plug-in or a widget they call it a
- 11:45web widget that's what they're called on these things it just is like it's a
- 11:48really basic generic browser so anyway that'll be fun we'll do that and there is
- 11:54a poll in the chat Just kind of a wild idea I had of if I were to go live an
- 12:00hour earlier would that be better for you or worse for you.
- 12:04I've seen some of your comments already and Catherine yeah I didn't think about
- 12:08the fact that that's normally your time but like I said for many for many many
- 12:13months in a row Rhonda and I had the same time slot and we just watched each
- 12:17other's live streams on the replay and wasn't a big deal and
- 12:24It's just, you know, I'm sitting around every night.
- 12:26I'm sitting around, it's like six, 30, seven, just waiting for eight o'clock to
- 12:30come and it, you know, takes forever to get, I was like, man, I can start an
- 12:34hour early, early and be done an hour early.
- 12:36And that wouldn't be a terrible thing, but, uh, we'll see how it goes.
- 12:41You know, I haven't made up my mind that we're going to do anything like that.
- 12:44So
- 12:46We'll just see how it goes.
- 12:47So has everybody got a chance to look at the community
- 12:52livestream calendar yet?
- 12:56Now, Catherine, you don't have to worry about that.
- 12:58If yours isn't toast, ears won't be toast.
- 13:03Because you'd be r surprised how many people go to one more than one live stream
- 13:07at this time, that happens.
- 13:09So this is what the calendar looked like when I first built it.
- 13:13And I have done a lot of work beautifying the calendar and making it look a lot
- 13:17prettier. First and foremost I added some Canadian time zones for the pull down
- 13:22menu because when it says what zone.
- 13:24Um... it didn't have any Canadian time zones and people had to look it up.
- 13:30Rob the Maritimer had to look up what his time zone was in the list I had, so I
- 13:33added that. And by the way, that menu system over there was very ugly, so one
- 13:39thing I did was I made the whole thing look pretty and this is what it looks
- 13:43like now. It's much nicer.
- 13:45As you can see, there's a night mode and a day mode.
- 13:48There's a dark mode, right?
- 13:50And that's what's in the back down there.
- 13:51And there's this row of buttons across the top, right?
- 13:55Show only busy. Busy hours here.
- 13:56I'll tell you what, let me jump right into my web browser so we can look at the
- 14:00calendar right now live. So here's the calendar as it looks today.
- 14:05You can see all the Sally's over here.
- 14:07Sally told me the other day that, uh, she didn't add all these.
- 14:11Apparently, somebody added all these on her behalf without her permission.
- 14:15So
- 14:16I'm waiting to hear back from her if she wants to take it back off I'll take
- 14:19them back off of there if that's not something she wants I thought a she put
- 14:22them on there and then she told me that somebody else did this so you guys don't
- 14:26put other people's Livestreams on the calendar if you don't have their
- 14:30permission or haven't talked about it but at the top you can click on show full
- 14:34day which has all these empty hours that are not used by anybody and if you want
- 14:38to only show the busy hours you can click this button and it collapses it right
- 14:43it's a lot easier to see and it's a lot easier to look at that way and then
- 14:47across over here on the top right there's this night mode and you hit that
- 14:50button and it goes into dark mode and then there's day mode which is brighter
- 14:54obviously. And then there's these two buttons.
- 14:57And I wanted to show you these two buttons down here.
- 14:59These are really cool. What these do is it will add the live stream calendar to
- 15:04your own personal calendar, if you use Apple calendars or if you use Google
- 15:09calendars..
- 15:10And by the way, um, if you're using any other software, that's neither one of
- 15:15those, the Apple calendar one will probably work for you, but let me show you
- 15:20what they look like. If I click on the subscribe to Google, what it does is it
- 15:25fires up my Google calendar and it says, well hey, do you want to add this
- 15:29calendar? I'll say yeah, let's add it dude.
- 15:31So all these green things are things that I already had on my calendar and what
- 15:35it's doing in the background right.
- 15:37There is, it's fetching the events and it's throwing them into my calendar and
- 15:40it's getting them all set up and it's about to add this bad Larry in there.
- 15:43And if we just wait a second, the, uh, the community.
- 15:47Live streams will start to show up in there is this it right here.
- 15:52Let's see
- 15:54Is it adding it
- 15:58Let me see did I do something wrong?
- 16:02I don't think so Let me let me hit this thing again.
- 16:06Let me see what happens. Maybe I missed it
- 16:10So, why isn't it working? Let's refresh it.
- 16:15By the way, October 27th, that's yesterday.
- 16:18That's the day we got Suzuki.
- 16:21Suzuki, happy anniversary birthday, girl.
- 16:24we got Suzuki yesterday now why is it my calendar working dang
- 16:30it did I um Do something wrong.
- 16:34I think it's in here community
- 16:37YouTube livestreams. Yeah, it's right here, but it's not showing.
- 16:40Let's do this. Let's unsubscribe
- 16:50I was testing it earlier, so that's probably what happened.
- 16:53I probably messed everything up by, um, you can see I had jury duty yesterday.
- 16:58So let's go back to the calendar.
- 17:00Rit's It's just scottauld.org
- 17:05slash calendar.
- 17:09And then we click on subscribing Google.
- 17:12There we go. Add community calendar.
- 17:14Add. And now it added home and there they are.
- 17:19Now we can see med lab, insider, one blind grandpa, Sally, outdoor Tennessean.
- 17:23and you can of course change the color of those to whatever color works for you.
- 17:27I can make them orange or something like that.
- 17:29But the cool thing about adding them to your personal calendar is if people come
- 17:33in later and put things on there, it'll show up on your own calendar as well.
- 17:38And that way you can decide if you want notifications or alerts or anything like
- 17:42that. I'm gonna go ahead and show you what it looks like if I hit the subscribe
- 17:46to Apple button too. I'm gonna hit this and it says, oh, do you want to open
- 17:50this calendar? I'll say, yeah, let's open up the calendar app in Apple, Apple
- 17:55Calendars. It says, oh, you're gonna enter this web address.
- 17:59I say, sure, why not? Subscribe to it.
- 18:01Okay, pop it in. It gives me this name.
- 18:03I can pick a color, orange is fine.
- 18:06And which calendar I'm adding it to, I'll say, okay, That sounds good give it a
- 18:10second to come in here and add it and then look at that all look at all these
- 18:13orange events in here one blind grandpa Sally, med's lab insider
- 18:19so that successfully added it to my Apple calendar, and again,
- 18:25I can go into those myself if I want to and turn on or turn off.
- 18:28Alerts, etc. So It works. It's just was kind of broken a little bit because I
- 18:34was already playing with it earlier tonight so that works subscribe subscribe
- 18:39Apple or Google and that will
- 18:43That will add it to your own calendar and if people add it in the future it'll
- 18:47show up automatically because you're subscribed to an online calendar and if
- 18:51Somebody you know requests that their live stream get deleted off the calendar
- 18:56and I go in and delete it off of a off the calendar Myself, I'm the only one
- 18:59that can delete stuff Anybody can add things but I'm the only one that can
- 19:03delete things It will actually come off of your calendar as well You don't have
- 19:07to update or anything so if I delete somebody like if Sally says I don't want to
- 19:11be on the calendar anymore and I delete those entries off the calendar.
- 19:14They'll come right off your calendars too when you're subscribed This is where
- 19:18you add calendars right here.
- 19:20So like if I was to say, you know, Catherine
- 19:26Catherine's Fabuloso
- 19:2960s, I don't have to type all this out.
- 19:31It's just a simulation and beyond And then in here I put the address of her
- 19:36channel, you know, I don't even know what it is Catherine or something blah
- 19:41right YouTube pick the day it's every
- 19:46Wednesday I pick the time I say oh she's on 7 o'clock p.m.
- 19:52there we go let's put a 60 minutes that sounds good I make sure I got my own
- 19:56time zone selected in there if I hit add to calendar boom it'll add around I'm
- 20:01not gonna do it because she can add herself if that's what she wants but that's
- 20:06all it takes to add it It's very easy and it's very fun and hopefully you know
- 20:11hopefully this turns out to be something that is useful I really I Really miss
- 20:18Laura used to maintain this manually as a list on her notes on her And it was
- 20:23very useful and so I a built this primarily for me to be able to keep track of
- 20:28everybody But also I wanted everybody to be able to add their own calendars.
- 20:31I don't want to manage it so everybody can add their own time zones and their
- 20:35own events and their own live stream calendar and we can all see it.
- 20:40And now we can add it to our own to our own calendars on there as well.
- 20:44So that's kind of cool. That's kind of cool.
- 20:47Let's jump back in the chat and see what I might be missing here.
- 20:51Um, hey Jay, Jay made it. So Jay, I don't know if you saw this Jay, but around
- 20:56two hours ago I went live on an impromptu live stream and I read the world's
- 21:01longest shout out. I read the longest shout out in history.
- 21:06I did it. It only took me nine minutes to read the entire thing.
- 21:10Yep. You did, you did see that.
- 21:12Okay. Just as I just watched my shout out video, it's pretty darn funny.
- 21:16It's pretty funny, man. Well Hello, Brett, how are things going over there my
- 21:21man? Oh, it's 20 minutes, well now it's probably 25 after midnight in sunny old
- 21:26England. How are things going in the Hi-Fi Shack?
- 21:30Hope things are good for you my man, saw you the other day a couple weeks ago or
- 21:33so at Rob's I think.
- 21:39Very nice to see you in here again.
- 21:43Rev says the next live stream's coming soon working on the bike and I'll I'll
- 21:46show how to make chicken.
- 21:49You did watch it. Yeah, that's funny.
- 21:52I was just sitting around here killing time.
- 21:54It was six o'clock. I realized Daniel wasn't going to go live tonight.
- 21:57And I said, you know, I got nothing to do.
- 21:59Why don't we go ahead and read that insanely long shout out.
- 22:05And, uh, it was like a little nine minute live stream..
- 22:07was fun. We had a good a, and we had a good time.
- 22:12So, hey, check this out. I'll show you guys my fancy weather.
- 22:18Uh, what do you call this weather?
- 22:20Um, I made ab a, weather map.
- 22:22I made a weather app, that's what it is.
- 22:26This is basically just wanted to make something for myself.
- 22:30Essentially, this is the weather, this is the weather map website that I've
- 22:36always wanted for me.
- 22:39Of course, it doesn't always have to show Florida, you know?
- 22:43That's just what I'm looking at right now, but I wanted a weather map that I
- 22:48could zoom in on, zoom out of.
- 22:50And I don't know why Florida's green and everybody else is why we're not all
- 22:56green like that, but whatever This is open street maps.
- 22:59I used open source maps and I used open source weather data Something called
- 23:04Libra W XR is an open source weather layer that you can get and open street maps
- 23:11is open map layer that you can get, so it's all free, I didn't have to pay for
- 23:15any services. I wanted these fronts, right?
- 23:19These front lines are very important for predicting the weather, and that's
- 23:24actually how I predict weather is I look at these front lines, these blue is the
- 23:28cold fronts and they're moving in the direction of the triangles, and if you
- 23:31don't know, cold fronts always have thunderstorms ahead of them.
- 23:35Like you can see is pushing this line in and warm fronts are these Warm fronts
- 23:41are these
- 23:42Wait a minute. Did I say that right cold fronts have storms
- 23:47No cold fronts have cold fronts have the weather behind them What am I talking
- 23:51about the cold fronts have the weather behind on the warm fronts have it ahead
- 23:54of them and a warm front Is a red line with the little bumps And if you see
- 23:58these that are a combination where basically a cold front is overtaken a
- 24:05warm front, and run together and when they start doing all this kind of stuff
- 24:10you get these occluded fronts and all the fun weather happens inside of that
- 24:14place where that happens. But I've always wanted, without any ads on it, I just
- 24:19want to be able to see the darn radar and the fronts.
- 24:25no ads because every every good weather app website I've ever gone to
- 24:31has got a ton of ads and look in this pull down menu right here on my browser
- 24:36that's all weather related websites I've been trying my entire life to find a
- 24:41really good weather one the one I've been using mostly lately is
- 24:48flight radar 24 which is okay and it's really meant for aviation you can see all
- 24:53the airplanes right all the airplanes coming in and taking off this airport
- 24:57right here's got a few planes coming in there's even some currently moving like
- 25:01this fella here and if you click on them you know you can see their path he's
- 25:05obviously just landed or whatever and this has a this has a weather.
- 25:11I was using this to kind of keep track of the weather a little bit,
- 25:18but man, talk about a hassle and there's ads on this silly thing unless I pay
- 25:24for it, right. And I'm not currently logged in.
- 25:26I could log in, but I don't feel like it right now because I don't need it.
- 25:29Because I made my own I don't need that thing anymore and I've I've tried
- 25:34weather underground. I've tried weather bug I've tried every single darn weather
- 25:38site and you know known to man See storm lightning.
- 25:42That's a good site. I've gone to the lightning page.
- 25:44That one's usually pretty good You come to this thing right here, which is
- 25:48basically telling you Lightning strikes.
- 25:50There's all the lightning strike, but look all sticker mule advertisement right
- 25:55in my face and here's another sticker mule advertisement right in my face and
- 25:59every time you try moving around and you leave this thing open for a while the
- 26:03whole page gets covered with these ads that keep popping out on you all the time
- 26:07and I don't want to deal with ad blockers and all that stuff I shouldn't have to
- 26:10so I just made the perfect weather app the way that I want Let's see what's
- 26:16happening up in Amy's world.
- 26:18Looks like it's clear up in Amy's world, it's clear up in Sally's world, looks
- 26:23like it's pretty nasty up in Mike and Yvonne's world, and it ain't that pretty
- 26:29in the Whitcomb's weather area.
- 26:31You guys, whoo, you guys are battling it.
- 26:34All these fronts coming together.
- 26:36crashing into each other is gonna cause some weather.
- 26:39You can also hit play and see the last hour worth of a weather animating, which
- 26:44some people like to see the direction it's moving.
- 26:47The weather you know the fronts tell you that but you can you can see which way
- 26:51it's doing that by clicking that animated just tell you the last hour broken up
- 26:55in 10-minute increments which is you know fine It's fine for just seeing the
- 27:00past direction and you can use this little slider here to make it less visible
- 27:06if you want. I usually leave around 60 or so.
- 27:09And of course you can hit this button to minimize that thing out of your way.
- 27:13So I keep this thing open in a in a browser all day long where I can keep my eye
- 27:18on. I just glance on it because we get these thunderstorms that come through
- 27:21here sometimes in Florida.
- 27:23they just creep up on you and just bonk you on the head.
- 27:27So I made a weather app because I wanted to and it's so easy to make these apps
- 27:32with AI helping you out to do all the fancy coding and all the all the hard
- 27:37parts. It's not that hard to put together these days.
- 27:40It would have taken a long time in the past.
- 27:44Rev says, I like the uncensored sarcastic weather apps.
- 27:47That's funny. I never seen that.
- 27:49Hey there Dana! Good to see you here.
- 27:52I saw Glenn earlier and speaking of stickers Glenn and I just ordered stickers
- 27:56for our pages excellent I'm wanting some of those stickers from you got a whole
- 28:02nice collection of stickers right here and I'm just waiting
- 28:08to put these I gotta get a couple of more Yetis or something because I got some
- 28:12cool stickers that I am just dying to put on stuff.
- 28:16and uh, old man copper vice grip,
- 28:23I would love to have a, a Perlman and a Dana, the cookie mom sticker.
- 28:27I'm just saying, I'm just saying.
- 28:31So yeah, those, um, those websites are pretty darn together.
- 28:35Like I said, AI kind of helps with the hard parts.
- 28:38Um, and I collected them all together.
- 28:40I got my Scott Auld.org.org website, which just makes it easy to find that stuff.
- 28:45There's links at the top, the calendars at the top, the.
- 28:47Weathers at the top. There's a top for stickers.
- 28:50If you want to get my stickers for free and a way to contact me is at the, at
- 28:56the top as well. And then all throughout the website, it just shows all the
- 28:59different projects I'm working on stuff like that.
- 29:02So Scott Auld.org. Has all my goofy projects all in one place.
- 29:08Amy, did you get your stickers?
- 29:10You say, thanks. I'm glad I'm hoping, I'm hoping everybody got them.
- 29:13I've mailed them out to a few people recently and you know, like I've sent
- 29:18stickers to Devin a few times and I don't know if they're getting through to
- 29:22Canada and- It may be something related to that area because I sent some to Rob
- 29:28the Maritimer and they never got to him either.
- 29:30And you guys are both pretty close to each other.
- 29:33And I used my fancy international sticker stamps so I don't know why it doesn't
- 29:37go through. It don't understand.
- 29:40Hello Leo! How are things going for one blind grandpa?
- 29:44I hope you are doing well.
- 29:46Thanks for dropping in and hanging out.
- 29:49CL says grumpy cats weather right now is maybe tonight asteroid will finally hit
- 29:57That's funny. Yep so By the way, speaking of Rob the Maritimer.
- 30:03Did you guys see he put out of impromptu video unscheduled earlier today?
- 30:09And it was featuring an email from yours truly because some scammer tried to get
- 30:15me, and I know a few of you guys saw, and Catherine said she saw that.
- 30:20Some of you guys, Brenda, some of you guys in Discord said you saw that thing as
- 30:23well, so... Oh, really, Devin?
- 30:27Leo got his stickers and he's right between you and Rob so much for that theory
- 30:32dang oh my goodness and Geraldine thought she got her stickers from me
- 30:38which should, should be getting there anytime now but it turned out it was just
- 30:41a Tolkien society magazine oh well almost me that's me
- 30:47adjacent right
- 30:49So, Rob put out a video, I want to make sure everybody hears about this.
- 30:53I got hit by an attempted scammer who pretended to be Rob the Maritimer, and it
- 30:58was pretty well done. It talked about a comment I left on his video, and it
- 31:04talked about my channel, and the only reason it really didn't fool me is because
- 31:08I know Rob. And Rob and I have had email conversations before in the past, and
- 31:13this email sort to seem like.
- 31:16This email seemed like he didn't know me.
- 31:18It was worded as if like, oh, just looked at your channel.
- 31:22That's interesting. What do you want to do with your channel?
- 31:25It was was asking me questions Rob would never ask because I know Rob and Rob
- 31:28knows me. And so, but he did a good job going through that scam email and just
- 31:34alerting people to watch out because AI is making it harder and harder and
- 31:39harder. order.
- 31:41To detect when these people are full of crap rob said the thing that was really
- 31:47you know stood out to him was that they were using a gmail address which he
- 31:51would never use. A lot of people use gmail a lot of people have a gmail
- 31:57address for their channel like i've been working porch piper top getting his
- 32:04youtube. I'm sorry, excuse me, getting his podcast set up, and he's got three
- 32:09episodes of his podcast out now, and his public email address for his
- 32:15podcast is a Gmail account.
- 32:18So a lot of people would see a Gmail- related email come in and would not be
- 32:23suspicious of that. Rob said that's a red flag for him, but it's not a red flag
- 32:28for most channels, and that would not alert most people.
- 32:31that it was the Gmail account, you know.
- 32:35I'm in the process right now of switching away from Gmail for my channel.
- 32:40I've got enough domains and domain names like scottauld.org and scottauld
- 32:46.com and I got winningtheweek.org and all that
- 32:52business.
- 32:54I'm probably going to make the email address for my channel, be an official,
- 32:58like winning the week.org, you know, Scott at winning the week.org or something
- 33:02like that, so that it's always real, a real domain, not Gmail, but, um, AI
- 33:08is training on everything CL.
- 33:10And so it's getting, it's getting better.
- 33:12Like, like I said to my dad earlier today, this is the worst AI is ever going to
- 33:16be. It's always going to get better and tomorrow will be better than it is
- 33:20today. So right now Right now is the worst it's going to be, except for, of
- 33:24course, yesterday. And the joke I said to my dad is the better AI gets the worse
- 33:29it gets for us. Right. Um, because their ability to scan people is just going to
- 33:35go off the charts. But that's not what I want to talk about first with Rob here.
- 33:40I want to talk to you guys about something related to.
- 33:44So let's get in the weeds for just a second because I want to talk to you about
- 33:48a
- 33:50Channel evaluation that I did on myself.
- 33:53I did a little bit of introspection and inter inward-looking I turned that high
- 33:59-powered perception on yourself.
- 34:01Dr. Lecter
- 34:04So Rob, the Maritimer, he recently outlined a, a strategic plan for the first
- 34:1010 videos that he would do if he was starting a new YouTube channel.
- 34:14And I wanted to run through his, his plan for the first 10 videos of any new
- 34:19channel and get your feedback on it.
- 34:22I'm just curious what you think about it because I have opinions on it.
- 34:25And I just thought it'd be fun to sort of share the thoughts that came out of
- 34:30that and then and then do a deep dive on evaluating how my channel's going and I
- 34:36figured if I show you how I look at my channel and how I.
- 34:43If I if I show you how I evaluate what I'm doing that's something that you can
- 34:48do as well on your own channels so.
- 34:52Rob suggests that the first three videos of a new channel should identify what
- 34:56new people in the given niche that you've decided to be on are searching for and
- 35:02then create instructional videos to help them.
- 35:05So the idea is of course you have to kind of know what your channel is going to
- 35:08be about and let's just for the sake of argument let's just imagine a brand new
- 35:13channel and its niche is going to be for people who enjoy crocheting with
- 35:19alpaca yarn. Just picking that at random off the top of my head.
- 35:25So you would do three videos, the first three videos one through three, identify
- 35:29what people in that niche are searching for and you got to do some research to
- 35:33think it out and say okay people would be searching for where do I get alpaca
- 35:37yarn or what is a sign of how do you check yarn for quality or what kind of
- 35:44hooks should I be using if I'm gonna be a crocheter and maybe what are some of
- 35:50what are some of the really good crochet stitches maybe a good project that
- 35:55works well with alpaca yarn these are the kind of things people would search for
- 36:00and then make instructional videos to help people answer those specific
- 36:05questions so you don't start off with just the video saying hey there how you
- 36:09doing my name's Scott this channel's about alpaca crochet you know crocheting
- 36:14with alpaca yarn and i want to talk about a farm i used to visit in Virginia
- 36:19and they didn't have alpacas on that farm, but It was a pretty farm, and
- 36:26it had a barn with a big coca-cola sign painted on the side and
- 36:32anyway, I'm thinking about buying a new car.
- 36:35You don't do that. Your first three videos, according to Rob, should be,
- 36:39identify what people are searching for and then help people with those
- 36:43questions. So let's just use my examples.
- 36:46You'd make a video that says how to shop for alpaca yarn.
- 36:50and you make a second video that says the best hooks to use for alpaca
- 36:57yarn crochet and the third video might be How to evaluate the quality of
- 37:03alpaca yarn for crochet or something like that, right?
- 37:07So that's the idea. That's the strategy for the first three the first three
- 37:11videos next for videos four and five, you create content that answers frequently
- 37:17asked commenter questions.
- 37:19And the idea here is hopefully in your first three videos, that people have
- 37:24asked you, they say, Oh, this is a good video.
- 37:27Thanks for telling me how to pick out hooks.
- 37:29But I have arthritis and Do you have any advice for people with arthritis and
- 37:35maybe you got another comment other says I can't find any good alpaca yarn
- 37:41You know, do you have any other alternatives?
- 37:44What about synthetics and maybe someone else says does it matter if the yarns
- 37:48died or not? And so you take these ideas and you make video number four and
- 37:53video number five answering those specific questions that the audience has
- 37:57already answered so that's That's video four and five now video six is when you
- 38:02finally do share your back story and why you made the channel and according to
- 38:06rob that's about the right.
- 38:08Time to start a relationship with the audience by sharing a little bit about
- 38:11yourself then you can go into the farm in virgin, virginia that to use to go to
- 38:16and hopefully there's a reason or connection to that.
- 38:23story about yourself that explains why you made this channel on this topic.
- 38:27So that actually makes a lot of sense and it's interesting to
- 38:30me,
- 38:40one through six and see which ones performed the best and then do it again.
- 38:44Make another video. Similar to whichever.
- 38:48Videos pick the two best performed videos out of one through six and do it
- 38:52again. Double it down. Right.
- 38:54Um, if you're, if your first two videos did great answering those searchable
- 38:59questions, make more questions like that, make more videos like that.
- 39:03But if you're, if your personal story did great.
- 39:07And that was the best performing one.
- 39:09Do another video talking about another aspect of your personal backstory.
- 39:14And then Rob recommends, uh, number nine and 10 could be connected videos where
- 39:18the first one might start a project and the last one might finish the project or
- 39:22the first one might go on a trip to go obtain yarn or hooks or something.
- 39:26And then number 10, you get home with that information, that stuff and do a
- 39:30project with it, but something where nine and 10 is connected together as a
- 39:35series. So I think it's a pretty cool, uh, series.
- 39:40And I think it's a pretty cool plan for somebody who's starting out and doesn't
- 39:45know where to start. Cause I think a lot of people start out their channel.
- 39:49Have an idea of what they want to do, but they don't know which one to start
- 39:53with They've got all these ideas that they don't know where to go first So they
- 39:56don't know this is a very well laid out plan as to Well, my first three videos
- 40:00are gonna be about this and my second video will be about this and my second You
- 40:04know my third video about this and Rob makes a good point I think at the end he
- 40:09says wait till after you those do those first ten videos before you go radically
- 40:13changing your plans Hang on.
- 40:15I got a sneeze coming Achoo Achoo Achoo.
- 40:18This is me psychologically telling my brain you've already sneezed, so now you
- 40:22don't have to. Achoo Achoo Achoo That's a Scott Adams trick and it worked Now
- 40:27the sneeze is going away. You just say the word Achoo Achoo Achoo And you
- 40:32reframe your brain and make your brain think it's already sneezed and now the.
- 40:35sneeze is disappearing So it's amazing how that works if you don't know that
- 40:38trick So Rob's point is don't go changing midstream.
- 40:43Don't after video 5 go say oh maybe I need to do a different niche or maybe I
- 40:47need to retool my branding colors or something like that or
- 40:53completely change how you're making videos.
- 40:56Wait, do the first 10 videos and see how it goes and then shift slightly based
- 41:01on that if you need to So I want to go into the chat real quick and see what you
- 41:06guys think about these plans and ideas of his.
- 41:11I think it's reasonable. It makes a lot of sense to me.
- 41:16But not everybody follows a well laid out plan and sometimes you just fall into
- 41:22success. this. sometimes you fall into failure and you wonder why, but this is a
- 41:27this is an optional roadmap for people who were kind of stuck on, I know I want
- 41:33my channel to be about this but I don't know where I should start.
- 41:36I think it gives somebody at least a roadmap for the first 10 videos which is
- 41:40kind of nice you know.
- 41:43let's see here you guys were still talking about the scammer emails that's cool
- 41:48Brenda's asking the army medic for his channel if he has one CL says I started
- 41:54my channel without doing any research at all I just knew the types of videos I
- 41:58like to watch hey me too that's exactly the way I started CL I know what videos
- 42:03I was watching and I started making videos like what I was watching that was ten
- 42:08years ago
- 42:11That's a good point, Brian.
- 42:12My tastes have changed some since I became a quote creator.
- 42:17You know, once we all start making stuff, we start to look at it through a
- 42:20different lens, don't we? We start to see how things,
- 42:25look, um, from the other side of the camera, and you can kind of.
- 42:29you kind of can almost judge, hey, this is what the person was thinking when he
- 42:33made it or when she made it or something, you know?
- 42:37CL, your first ones you didn't talk at all?
- 42:39Yep. You made slides in PowerPoint?
- 42:42Man, I did my thumbnails in PowerPoint for 10 years, CL.
- 42:46Did you really, Geraldine, are you kidding?
- 42:48You did your thesis on alpacas?
- 42:50Are you cereal? All right.
- 42:53I just picked that randomly out of nowhere and that here we have a we have an
- 42:57alpaca expert now my question for you Geraldine is can you crochet can you
- 43:02crochet with alpaca yarn?
- 43:05Because I cannot say that I really designate you an expert on alpacas if you
- 43:09can't crochet alpaca yarn
- 43:13C L says I have cat hair can we make it into yarn that's a good question I
- 43:17wonder about kitty cat hair what do you think Suzuki can kitty cat hair be spun
- 43:22into yarn should we try that experiment should I get some hair clippers
- 43:29and shear you she's looking at me like that's a very bad idea for me
- 43:37So Rev. this isn't off the top of my head.
- 43:39This is me just basically relaying Rob's plan, but if you mean the
- 43:45yarn and the crochet in the alpaca thing, that was all impromptu right off the
- 43:51top of my head there.
- 43:53Brian says, maybe after I retire, I'll have a grand restart of my channel.
- 43:58Well, as someone who's done a grand restart a few times in the past 18 months, I
- 44:02highly recommend, maybe,
- 44:05CL says, after I retire, I'll go on camera.
- 44:08Maybe, maybe we'll see, maybe you'll go on a camera before then.
- 44:13Maybe you'll just get a sudden and unexpected bout of bravery in 2027 and decide
- 44:18this is the year I'm going to go on camera.
- 44:20Never know. You could go on camera in silhouette form like the way they used to
- 44:24do on those crime shows where they had the person in a silhouette with the light
- 44:28behind them and they did like the robotic voice for the person who's in witness
- 44:34protection and stuff. You could do that CO.
- 44:38Dana says, uh, see all I was thinking the, the same between my two cats and my
- 44:42dog, it's insanity. I'll only groom them in the bathroom because it's so bad and
- 44:46I need to contain the craziness to a spoon.
- 44:48Yeah, that's funny. Don't tell Pam that she already thinks cats inside are a
- 44:53abomination. Hey, it's pure Steve, Steve Fuhrer, everybody.
- 44:57How's it going, my bud? I enjoyed your impromptu taking a walk live stream, but
- 45:02I did not get to watch your late night walk live stream yet, but I saw you made
- 45:06it. so that's pretty fun and cool.
- 45:10Amy says I just winged my channel most are hidden yeah so you got a bunch of
- 45:14hidden videos Amy you know what you should just unhide them you never know which
- 45:19video is gonna be the one that just takes off and suddenly you know 10
- 45:25,000 people find you because of some video, and we're really bad judges of
- 45:29what's good and what's bad.
- 45:32We're so harsh as a critic of ourselves, we're just really bad, really, really
- 45:36bad at judging,
- 45:38which of our videos. videos are good and which of ours are bad, so I put them
- 45:43all out. Make them all public, put them all out there, because every single one
- 45:47of them, you're going to be better tomorrow than the ones you made yesterday.
- 45:52So I don't see any reason for keeping them hidden because sometimes there might
- 45:55be one out there that you didn't think was that great, but it might become, it
- 45:59might become your video. You know,
- 46:03um, when Rob had, um, Darren on as a guest on Tuesday.
- 46:09He was saying he was just kind of frustrated at the instructional videos not
- 46:14doing that good and he just put the camera on himself and just sort of ranted
- 46:17and said, this is what I think.
- 46:19I think everybody should make a channel and that's the video it took off and it
- 46:23wasn't anything like his existing videos and he probably thought at the time
- 46:27that it wasn't even the greatest video in the world so you never know Amy you
- 46:33never know
- 46:36So Geraldine says, yep, it's a good roadmap to start or to try something
- 46:41different. Leo says, I think it makes a lot of sense.
- 46:44Yep, I agree with that.
- 46:47Let's say he, but Leo says, however, I wouldn't want to start over again.
- 46:51Yep, you don't need to, once you get, once you get rolling, this plan is good
- 46:55for people who are still stuck and don't know how to start, but once you You got
- 46:59the momentum going, you need to...
- 47:01and to keep the momentum going.
- 47:04Fred says. I think my channel is too busy, but I like making videos.
- 47:09So, well, I'll tell you Fred, it's funny you say that because I kind of went on
- 47:14this, uh, extended deep dive on my own channel and I want to share with you guys
- 47:18some of my findings and that's what I call the jobs, not the job's
- 47:24not feeling model Suzuki stop it leave it alone stop trying to pull stuff
- 47:31onto the ground I got this book that my friend Wes recommended called called and
- 47:37it's by Jerome John Jerome and it's a It's not a very thick book, but it's a
- 47:43I'm enjoying it My friend Wes knows that I have a dream to restore an old truck
- 47:47and this is a book by a fellow who lived up in New Hampshire and restored an old
- 47:53truck And it's kind of his experiences is written in the 70s And it's if you
- 47:58ever heard of Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance is it's kind of the same
- 48:02deal, but shorter I'm enjoying it.
- 48:04It's a good book Wes did good book recommendations, but Zookie's trying to knock
- 48:09it on the floor.
- 48:11So let's just do a quick little jump in.
- 48:13I want to share some of this with you.
- 48:15I don't know if this is this too small for you guys to read.
- 48:17I might be able to make that a little bigger.
- 48:19Hang on a second. Let's see if I make this bigger.
- 48:27I want you guys all to be able to read this pretty well.
- 48:30By the way, that's the CL ticker going across the top.
- 48:33I hope you all saw the value for value ticker across the top up there.
- 48:37That was CL's idea.
- 48:40And I thought it was a good idea.
- 48:42We'll just have a ticker going across the top of all of our value for value
- 48:45supporters.
- 48:47So that's very cool.
- 48:50All right, so here's the situation with my deep dive.
- 48:53The job not feeling model.
- 48:55So as you remember, just kind of playing around and showing you, you guys, how
- 48:59you can use AI and the, uh, vidIQ MCP server about a month ago.
- 49:04I did a live demo in which I showed you how the MCP server allows you to connect
- 49:10your AI to vidIQ and talk to it about channels, et cetera.
- 49:15and
- 49:18while doing so I just kind of on a whim said hey AI compare my channel with the
- 49:23global Rob the Maritimer and it spit out you know a pretty good evaluation it
- 49:29said Rob the Maritimer 34 times your size on subscribers 61 times your size on
- 49:34views and it gave this good report of what the differences were and it gave a
- 49:39very good logical explanation of the differences between his channel and my
- 49:43channel. And I've told you before boy that's interesting Leo you just as a
- 49:49distraction you said my grandson is restoring a 56 Dodge well the fella in this
- 49:54book restored a 55 Dodge so I think your grandson should read truck
- 50:01by John Jerome I think he'd enjoy it I'm only partly through it
- 50:06so So we got this great, And I've told.
- 50:11You before, um, boy, that's interesting.
- 50:12By the way, we are at 320 comments already folks, we're killing it, doing great.
- 50:18I got this great feedback from the AI on his catalog is built for search, my
- 50:23videos are not built for search, and buried in the middle of this long string
- 50:28was this sentence here, it said You mostly name a feeling or a guest and that
- 50:34fits the cool kids table and it does not get recommended to people who've never
- 50:39heard of you and I tell you what that thing that sense even though I was showing
- 50:43this AI interaction just as a demo that kind of hit pretty hard and it landed
- 50:49with me. And it kind of woke me up a little bit to the fact that, man, you're
- 50:54making videos. You know, you're making videos in which you talk about the people
- 50:58you already know and you're going to have the same hundred people forever and
- 51:02the channel's never going to get bigger and the community's never going to
- 51:05expand and you're never going to help more people, which my goal is to help and
- 51:09change the world.
- 51:12So I got to thinking about this for a few days and then a few days turn into a
- 51:16few weeks. And I got kind of tied into this.
- 51:20It does not get recommended to people who've never heard of you.
- 51:24Hello, porch piper, Tom, glad to see you drop in.
- 51:26How are you doing? Seeing you here must mean copper must've just about finished
- 51:30up with his live stream.
- 51:32So I started thinking about it and I asked AI.
- 51:35You can see this question up here and I said, how do I fix this?
- 51:39the room name the problem a stranger already searches for.
- 51:46Now does that sound familiar to you?
- 51:48Guess what? That sounds exactly like what Rob's video from yesterday suggested
- 51:54to a brand new YouTuber, a video topic of things people search for.
- 51:59And here's AI coming up with the same thing before that video dropped out by the
- 52:04way, cause this conversation with this AI is two weeks old already.
- 52:08Uh, this goes back a couple of weeks.
- 52:10The AI said, stop naming the room, name the problem that a stranger already
- 52:15searches for, keep the cool kids table as the place that the problem gets
- 52:20solved. So that's really darn cool, right?
- 52:24and then he gives me some more information down here it says the pattern is the
- 52:28job first your story second so how to or what to do when in the first five
- 52:34words your name the table and the guests stay out of the title and I had been
- 52:40making all these videos where my titles talked about you know inside stories
- 52:45inside jokes the cool kids table, things like that, that I thought would be
- 52:51interesting and appealing and encouraging to people.
- 52:53I was trying to encourage people, of course,
- 52:56making titles that I thought would encourage people, but I
- 53:03wasn't even touching at all on things people would be searching for.
- 53:08So I thought about it for a few days, and a few days turned into a week.
- 53:14and then I went back to the robot and I said hello robot and it said hello ready
- 53:21when you are by the way I always like to remind it that it's a robot not a
- 53:25friend and it's partly from my own benefit remember so this is this is not a
- 53:29human
- 53:32So I said, hey robot, do you remember when I asked you to compare my channel to
- 53:36Rob the Maritimer? He goes, yep, we pulled the numbers your channel is 3,500
- 53:41people 380 views has 222,000 subscribers 14
- 53:47,000 at thanks a lot. You didn't have to remind me robot.
- 53:50That was nice, but come on don't rub it in, in Because the gap was large and the
- 53:55packaging difference community focus titles that was me versus searchable.
- 54:00was part of what we looked at.
- 54:02Yeah, thanks for rubbing it in robot.
- 54:04I said, can you summarize what you found that explains why his channel is
- 54:08winning search and what I'm doing wrong?
- 54:12Well, the robot says Rob is winning search because his titles name a job a
- 54:18stranger is already looking for.
- 54:20Again, doesn't that sound familiar?
- 54:22Yours mostly name a feeling, a guest, or a room that only people who already
- 54:27know you care about. You folks in this chat who already know me would see these
- 54:33titles and care about them.
- 54:35But I'm never reaching anybody beyond our family, and I want this family to grow
- 54:41and expand. You know why? Because you guys are so awesome that I want more
- 54:45people to experience how great and how cool you are in the cool kids table.
- 54:50What's the point of inviting people to the cool kids table if nobody ever comes
- 54:54and it?
- 54:55And we just end up talking to each other all day.
- 54:59I want it in, listen, I want to touch the world, but I don't want to do it one
- 55:04person at a time.
- 55:06So here's another thing this guy said, this AI guys, the packaging difference
- 55:10that explained most of it was that Rob's titles are searchable.
- 55:14They described a result or a problem someone who has never heard of him would
- 55:18type. So you don't have to have ever heard of Rob the Maritimer to type a search
- 55:23for something. You're looking for He says your titles are more about the cool
- 55:28kids table They spoke to people who already trust you feelings guests inside
- 55:32references Those do not like I'd have a I'd have a video titled Laurie soul
- 55:38circle Taught me this And nobody knows who that is except us and so that doesn't
- 55:45and nobody searching for that nobody searching for what did lori soul circle
- 55:48teach scott by golly. No the only people who know what that means is people who
- 55:53already who already know us and and we're not reaching the world that way right
- 55:58so. It says they spoke to people who already trust you feelings guests inside
- 56:04references Those do not get recommended to strangers and they don't match what
- 56:09people search So down here, you can see the AI says the fix we landed on was
- 56:14simple one video a week Whose title starts with the thing a stranger would
- 56:19search for so that's what I decided I need to start doing then I need to start I
- 56:22need to start making a video that is about something that a stranger would
- 56:26search for okay well that sounds pretty easy and I said to it hey, hey can you
- 56:32give me a prompt that I can give you in the future basically I was telling the
- 56:35robot what can I ask you in the future to help me out when I need a video or a
- 56:39topic or a title or a thumbnail and I want to use these a-keys that you're
- 56:43giving me here right as if you were you know me talking to the bot
- 56:48basically program a question I'm going to ask you in the future.
- 56:52Well, I didn't like what he said because he said, here's some prompts, okay?
- 56:55For video topic, the prompt would be I need a video topic, use the Rob packaging
- 57:01rules, name a job a stranger is earned and then down here for title, I need a
- 57:06title, use the Rob packaging rules.
- 57:09Well, I didn't like that. I didn't like calling it the Rob packaging rules.
- 57:12I said to the raw, I said to the robot, Hey, listen, can you rewrite this?
- 57:16But instead of Rob packaging rules, can we call them the job, not feeling
- 57:21packaging rules, because that's what it's suggested.
- 57:24We're going to make a video that the title is about a job that people are
- 57:28searching for, not my touchy feelings.
- 57:30Right. I said to the raw, I said to the robot, Hey, listen, can you rewrite
- 57:33this? Thanks. because you know AI can get confused.
- 57:38I said you can expand the definition and the prompt if that's needed.
- 57:41So then the AI gave me the four prompts okay for a video topic I would say to
- 57:45the robot I need a video topic use the job not feeling packaging rules name a
- 57:50job a stranger is already searching for not a feeling a guest or an inside
- 57:53reference the topic should work for people who never heard of me And then for
- 57:58titles, same thing, I need a title, used a job, not feeling packaging rules, put
- 58:03the searchable job in the first few words, do not lead with reacting to or my
- 58:08favorite or language that only my regulars understand, make it work for people
- 58:13who've never heard of me. And it did something similar for the text to put on a
- 58:17thumbnail, and it did something similar for the kind of description I would put
- 58:20in. And my reply to the robot, you can see it in the bottom corner down here,
- 58:24thanks. this is good.
- 58:28So many, many conversations later.
- 58:31I continued this chat, as you can see, quite extensively with Mr.
- 58:36Robot, including working through some example
- 58:40thumbnails and what thumbnails might look like following this jobs jobs not
- 58:44feeling model and talking about All kind of stuff, we got into it and I just did
- 58:50some deep dive so you can see the extent of the conversations.
- 58:54But I am calling this my tip of the day is to use this model, the job not
- 59:00feeling model.
- 59:02Most people who can grow your channel do not know you exist yet, which sounds
- 59:07blindingly obvious when you say it it, right?
- 59:09How can you grow your channel and add people who don't know you?
- 59:13the reason they don't know you is because they have not been part of your
- 59:17channel. And of course, if they haven't been part of your channel yet, that's
- 59:21the kind of person you want to grow.
- 59:23R it says, they're not searching for your feelings or your community or your
- 59:27inside references. Duh, because they never heard of me.
- 59:30They're searching for a specific result they want or a specific problem they
- 59:34need solved. When the title and topic name that job in the first few words the
- 59:39video can appear for those searches searches and get recommended to people
- 59:42who've never heard of you.
- 59:44When the title leads with a feeling a guest name or language only regulars
- 59:49understand the video mostly stays inside the group that already knows you.
- 59:53That's the difference we saw in the channel comparison.
- 59:58Videos built around clear searchable jobs, right?
- 1:00:01It reached strangers and accumulated watch time.
- 1:00:05And then it says here at the bottom, the model does not ignore the personal
- 1:00:08angle, it simply puts it after the job.
- 1:00:11Which means after I identify something that somebody is searching for and then
- 1:00:16share it with them, I can still have a personal connection and a personal
- 1:00:22connection so a good example of that is when I was doing my little teaching on
- 1:00:26how to schedule a live stream on mobile and then how to go live on mobile with a
- 1:00:32scheduled thing once I had gotten into the job and the solution for it then I
- 1:00:37started using some examples talking about Catherine who had a question talking
- 1:00:41about Steve and his channel talking about You know the cool kids table stuff
- 1:00:47like that inviting people to the live streams, but the the searchable item came
- 1:00:51first so
- 1:00:58That's that's just a reminder we'll get back to that but that's basically it so
- 1:01:01okay So here's the idea a live exercise.
- 1:01:04I want to show you what that looks like So let's jump into our friend Chrome
- 1:01:09here And what we're gonna do is we're gonna bring up our Mr.bot robot
- 1:01:16here. I call him Gronk because I like to use the Gronk robot and I'm going to
- 1:01:22my pre-saved conversation within the week YouTube
- 1:01:28vidIQMCP link here. we are going to use the prompt
- 1:01:34that we already previously talked about.
- 1:01:36Let's go back and find that prompt.
- 1:01:39Oh here, no actually I don't need to.
- 1:01:41You know what we'll do? This is what we're gonna do.
- 1:01:42We're gonna go to my actual YouTube live
- 1:01:49studio and we're gonna look at my content.
- 1:01:52and we're gonna look at some of these older videos we're gonna go back to
- 1:01:57some of the older ones right that I haven't I haven't done anything with what
- 1:02:03you can do is you can rename some of your older video titles based on
- 1:02:09whatever rules you and your AI think think makes sense.
- 1:02:15And we're gonna look at some of these older videos.
- 1:02:17We're gonna This one, I'm gonna grab this one, feel stuck, how to live a week of
- 1:02:24healthy optimism, that's about feelings and are you anxious and stuck, how to
- 1:02:28stop intrusive thoughts, that's a feeling.
- 1:02:31And then let's see here,
- 1:02:34let's see what's another good example, how to stop FOMO from running, well
- 1:02:39that's a how-to already. There's a good one, are you too sensitive?
- 1:02:43how to respond to criticism.
- 1:02:46All right, let's just read as examples.
- 1:02:48All right, here's what we're going to do.
- 1:02:50We're going to take this title and I'm going to say, hello, robot.
- 1:02:58Rewrite this title
- 1:03:01using the jobs, not feelings model.
- 1:03:06And the title is are you anxious and stuck how to stop intrusive thoughts from
- 1:03:10defining you? So let's see what mr.
- 1:03:12Robot here thinks is a better title for that video
- 1:03:17He's working he just says how to stop intrusive thoughts from defining you
- 1:03:24Which is interesting, that's the second half of my title.
- 1:03:28So I was already half right.
- 1:03:30I started with, are you anxious and stuck, which are feelings.
- 1:03:34And he says, listen, just the robot, it says how to stop intrusive thoughts from
- 1:03:40defining you. So I'm just going to put that as my title, hit save and go on to
- 1:03:44the next one. Now the next one was feel stuck, how to live a week of.
- 1:03:48Healthy optimism to overcome daily setbacks.
- 1:03:51I'm going to say, same, same thing, here's the title,
- 1:03:56and I'm going to put the same question, rewrite this title using that model,
- 1:04:02bink.
- 1:04:03Let's see what it says about this one.
- 1:04:05Now it's funny, it's probably going to say, so instead of feel stuck, how to
- 1:04:09live a week of healthy optimism to overcome daily setbacks, the title is how to
- 1:04:14overcome daily setbacks with one week of healthy optimism.
- 1:04:18So that's much more searchable.
- 1:04:19I just changed the title and we hit save.
- 1:04:23All right. Here's one. Are you too sensitive?
- 1:04:25How to respond? I'm just going to say the same thing.
- 1:04:29We go right here and I say.
- 1:04:32rewrite this title using the jobs not feeling model and you guys can work with
- 1:04:37your AI and come up with a model that you like and name it that and then you can
- 1:04:42always tell the AI to use that model whatever you named it so look at this
- 1:04:47instead of are you too sensitive how to respond that's feelings based the bot
- 1:04:52says let's do this how to respond when someone says you're too sensitive Here we
- 1:04:57go, so we've renamed three old videos and we've used AI to build
- 1:05:03a model that we're confident that we're at least willing to try.
- 1:05:08Hey, sometimes I can't tell you how many times I, if I had a nickel for every
- 1:05:13time an AI came up with a plan and I said, this is the one.
- 1:05:16This is the one right here that's going to solve things.
- 1:05:19And by golly, I tell you, this is the model.
- 1:05:21This is the one that this is the solution all my problems.
- 1:05:24But when a point of confidence where you think the model that you've come up
- 1:05:28with is a winner, name it, name that model, and then between
- 1:05:34you and the AI, discuss how to rename some of your old videos that didn't do
- 1:05:40that great using the new model.
- 1:05:43So that's my plan. That's my that's my story Let's see here.
- 1:05:49I want to read some of your comments while I've been talking about all this
- 1:05:52stuff here, but that's the idea.
- 1:05:55Let's see what you guys know.
- 1:05:56A lot of you guys are pretty reluctant on AI, so I'm expecting to come across
- 1:06:00quite a bit of resistance from some of you, but that's okay.
- 1:06:04Let's see here. Yeah, Rev calls it the echo chamber effect.
- 1:06:09Devin says, hello friends, just got back.
- 1:06:11Had to run an errand. I didn't even notice you were gone.
- 1:06:15Richard, the Chairman, how's it going my friend?
- 1:06:18My Aunt DeLuvian Buffalo Friend says, I'm sitting at the observer's table.
- 1:06:22I can't tell anyone how exclusive that is unless I start talking to myself.
- 1:06:28CL says, I streamlined my titles a few months ago.
- 1:06:31Maybe it's time to try something new.
- 1:06:33I think streamlining is a great idea.
- 1:06:35I think it's a great idea, but the idea behind this Chat that I'm doing with you
- 1:06:40here is essentially what it basically boils down to is come up with a strategy
- 1:06:45that you have a feeling works and then name it come up with
- 1:06:51a name for that strategy and then use AI to
- 1:06:57to rename it based on the model.
- 1:07:00You come up with a name for your strategy and then say hey let's rename, let's
- 1:07:03rename these using that strategy.
- 1:07:08Let's see here Porch Piper talking about the live stream he was a member of.
- 1:07:14Jay says we'll hold a spot at the cool kids table Brian.
- 1:07:17Very cool. Oh look at this Leo just became a member.
- 1:07:20Fantastic. Welcome to membership buddy.
- 1:07:22By the way, I have some members-only videos that you can go watch, if you want
- 1:07:27to, and I was thinking a little bit later on tonight, I'm gonna start playing
- 1:07:30some of those members-only videos for you guys during this live stream.
- 1:07:34They're not that long, 2-3 minutes long, and maybe I'll play one tonight.
- 1:07:38I'll have one of our members-only videos for you guys.
- 1:07:41I'll play it during the live stream here.
- 1:07:43That would be fun. C L says we watched I robot the other night just don't name
- 1:07:49the robot Vicky. That's funny.
- 1:07:52Is that one of the ones that was based on Isaac Asimov books?
- 1:07:58I used to love the Isaac Asimov robot series right with his three laws of
- 1:08:03robotics. Huge fan of that.
- 1:08:09And Devin says but you're reaching and touching deep inside our souls Scott
- 1:08:17That's funny
- 1:08:20Allie says Vicky sounds like a good wrench name Reverend that that's funny, but
- 1:08:26CL says no, don't do it robot It's just a robot So, Amy's got a good one.
- 1:08:31I'm gonna rename, replace Sam, if he doesn't straighten out.
- 1:08:34That's her AI. I'm working on a video where is he...
- 1:08:39the narrator, and he's not even speaking.
- 1:08:42Sometimes these robots need a...
- 1:08:44they need a shakin'.
- 1:08:46I agree, CL. AI does love packaging.
- 1:08:49Especially the one that's connected to vidIQ.
- 1:08:52The AI connected to vidIQ sure as heck loves...
- 1:08:56Packaging don't let it run away with your channel that's the other thing you
- 1:09:00don't wanna have a channel where the AI runs everything cuz it takes away all
- 1:09:04the fun and there's something to.
- 1:09:10Trial and error and trying things on your own.
- 1:09:15seeing what works or more often than it's not with a YouTube, seeing what
- 1:09:19doesn't work and trying something else.
- 1:09:25Richard says a narrator who won't narrate.
- 1:09:28That's not good. I agree.
- 1:09:31Now this is interesting CL.
- 1:09:32Pokemon fan art sometimes works good.
- 1:09:36That's interesting. I never...
- 1:09:39never would have crossed my mind but I honestly I'm out of the Pokemon loop my
- 1:09:45kids are into Pokemon and my friends are into Pokemon and I couldn't tell you a
- 1:09:50Tamagotchi from Magoochima I couldn't tell you the first thing about
- 1:09:56unfortunately
- 1:09:58Fred says those playing the murder mystery on Friday I left a question for you
- 1:10:03in the discord. Oh my goodness maybe we should jump in there and and see what's
- 1:10:08happening in discord real quick and see what the question is.
- 1:10:10I'm kind of curious. Let's go peek inside discord and see what Fred's talking
- 1:10:14about.
- 1:10:15Down here we have a channel on the bottom left corner Murder at the Blackthorn Manor.
- 1:10:21He says, hey, is anyone opposed to starting at 9 or 9.30 Eastern Time?
- 1:10:27Like I said, the game will probably take one to one and a half hours to play
- 1:10:30depending.
- 1:10:32So that's cool. Um, that's a good question.
- 1:10:36Should I jump into the, um, you guys, should I jump into the
- 1:10:41Discord live chat and see who's in there hanging out, because I see Fred's in
- 1:10:45there, and I see Jay in there.
- 1:10:48Why don't we drop in? Let's drop in and see.
- 1:10:51Alright, not bad.
- 1:10:54Oh my goodness. I drop in and you're playing all kinds of head bumping music or
- 1:10:58something.
- 1:10:59What are you doing? Are you playing DJ?
- 1:11:04Yeah, chilling out man.
- 1:11:07Chilling out.
- 1:11:10How's it going Jay?
- 1:11:15There is it's been really raw you don't do the you don't
- 1:11:22do the camera thing in here
- 1:11:25No that's totally fine I saw Amy was in this thing last week she was hanging out
- 1:11:31in here trying to get her she's trying to get
- 1:11:34well you guys have
- 1:11:41yourself a grand old time in.
- 1:11:42here in discord and I hope somebody answers your question there mr.
- 1:11:46Fred Yeah, me too. You guys continue to jam out to your party.
- 1:11:52What happened to your- I'm holding this guy in there.
- 1:11:53What happened to your disco lights?
- 1:11:56I just turned him off.
- 1:11:59Alright, I'll see you guys later.
- 1:12:03Silly goofballs man, I tell you what, those guys are funny.
- 1:12:08Hello there Pam! How are you doing there?
- 1:12:10Good to see you wandering on in here.
- 1:12:12Have a seat. We are just talking about all kinds of fun stuff.
- 1:12:16I'm getting caught up. I just did a big ol' long AI demo and I'm just listening
- 1:12:21to, just looking at the comments here.
- 1:12:24CL says there's AI voice programs.
- 1:12:27You type the script and the voice reads it out.
- 1:12:29Yep and you can, man, you can have it do any voice you want, right?
- 1:12:32get it to use the You can have it do the voice of your favorite president.
- 1:12:38Whoever that might be
- 1:12:42And Amy says yes CL chat GPT said to put it in a special folder and tell Sam
- 1:12:47where it was Sam found the folder and just typed what it was supposed to say So
- 1:12:51he just typed it and say instead of saying it Man that AI needs a reboot
- 1:12:57Welcome home How are you doing,
- 1:13:01oh, yeah, we got deliveries at home and I forgot to bring them in my bad.
- 1:13:10Let's see. Oh, Pam says it snowed by the way, Pam.
- 1:13:13I think you guys had your election.
- 1:13:15And if I remember correctly, Alberta decided not a leave and depart from Canada.
- 1:13:19Did 80 is that correct? So if I read the news correctly, congratulations on
- 1:13:24your. country, not deciding to divide itself into Canada-Dedadia
- 1:13:30East and Canada-Dedadia Oil.
- 1:13:34So if I understood that correctly.
- 1:13:38Yeah, Ali says the echo chamber effect.
- 1:13:42That sounds like my first attempt at my live stream last week.
- 1:13:45Was it all echoey?
- 1:13:48I saw you were, uh, Ali, I saw you were on, who were you sharing with somebody
- 1:13:54else?
- 1:13:55And I couldn't hear you. I could hear, I think it was Sally, right?
- 1:13:59I think you were on with Sally, but whoever you were on with, I couldn't hear
- 1:14:02you, could only hear them.
- 1:14:05I don't know.
- 1:14:08They need to swift. Yes. The AI.
- 1:14:10Needs a swift kick in the butt, Amy.
- 1:14:12Exactly. Very, very correct.
- 1:14:15And Geraldine's asking for a Diet Coke, but Mike here has the correct answer.
- 1:14:20Sorry, we only have diet sweet tea at the table.
- 1:14:23Sorry, have yourself a diet sweet tea Geraldine.
- 1:14:25You'll love it.
- 1:14:27You'll love it.
- 1:14:29So there you go, Fred. Allie says she could do nine o'clock.
- 1:14:33Got to find out if Jenny could tolerate doing nine o'clock.
- 1:14:35I'm sure Jenny could do it.
- 1:14:38That would be pretty cool.
- 1:14:40Alright, let me bring up my thing we were talking about here, so that was our
- 1:14:44live exercise.
- 1:14:46Some of you guys might have missed this earlier, so I was talking about this at
- 1:14:50the beginning to celebrate 18 months of restructuring the channel and getting
- 1:14:54away from the motorcycle stuff and doing the escaping the suburbs which became
- 1:14:58winning the week Next week, I'm going to do a garden party where I'll have a
- 1:15:03party line. Uh, watch for the open zoom link next week, if you want to join in
- 1:15:08and everybody can join and we'll have a multiple person live stream and if we
- 1:15:12can't get zoom to work by golly, maybe we'll just use discord because that works
- 1:15:16great. So between now and next Wednesday, uh, test zoom on your phone
- 1:15:22or your computer and make sure that It works that you can, you can see yourself
- 1:15:27on the setup. Zoom has a test button that you can test your set up just make
- 1:15:31sure it works and we'll have ourselves a little garden party will get as many
- 1:15:35people as are interested hanging out in the zoom party line next week and
- 1:15:40that'll be a good time. But just a reminder, like I say, we can all get together
- 1:15:45in the discord. If you guys don't know what discord is, you guys saw a little
- 1:15:49picture of it a second ago there.
- 1:15:50It's basically just a fancy chat room, and if you want to join us and hang out,
- 1:15:56uh, the Discord server link is in the video description.
- 1:15:59Hop in there, type in what you want your display name to be.
- 1:16:02Hopefully something we recognize, like your YouTube channel name.
- 1:16:06And jump in there and we'll have a good time.
- 1:16:07We're all having a blast inside Discord.
- 1:16:09We got about 35 people in there already, and it's all these same people you
- 1:16:12already talking to in the live chat anyway, so.
- 1:16:16Jump in and say hi to everybody in the discord
- 1:16:20Now I talked about this last week, but I do want to issue this reminder to you
- 1:16:24folks Remind your audience in your videos to check and see if they are still
- 1:16:29subscribed And you can actually do this instead of asking people to subscribe to
- 1:16:33your channels Ask them to check and see if they are still subscribed because I
- 1:16:38frequently and unexpectedly
- 1:16:43Unsubscribed
- 1:16:45From some of the channels that I know for a fact I was subscribed to, this guy
- 1:16:49here lost in the pond is Lawrence, a British fellow living in America, and I
- 1:16:54know for guaranteed fact I was subscribed to his channel,
- 1:16:59and that I wander across one of his videos and
- 1:17:05Ask people in your videos to check and see if they are still subscribed,
- 1:17:11especially, you know, it's like I said, it's a much easier way of
- 1:17:17asking than just saying, can you please subscribe to my channel, ask them to
- 1:17:21check and see if they
- 1:17:23are still subscribed, if they, you know, if they were originally.
- 1:17:29just a quick reminder by the way if you want some of these yummy stickers I've
- 1:17:33got plenty of stickers right here in front of me I'd love to send them out to
- 1:17:36you guys look at these beauties I have about four different designs something
- 1:17:41like that and there is a form at scottauld.org that you can fill out it's free
- 1:17:47I won't spam you I won't send you a newsletter I don't have any kind of crazy
- 1:17:51conspiracy theory stuff to stick in your mailbox I'll just send you a stickers
- 1:17:56So fill out the little form at the bottom of scottauld.org so I can send you
- 1:18:02stickers.
- 1:18:04And by the way, if you're one of the listeners of the Winning the Week podcast

- 1:18:22And all your friends are over here in the YouTubes, come on over on a Wednesday
- 1:18:26night, 8 p.m., drop in, say hi to everybody.
- 1:18:30We're still waiting for that first person to drop into the chat and say, I
- 1:18:33discovered you guys on podcast, but now I want to come over to YouTube and hang
- 1:18:38out with you, so maybe that'll happen.
- 1:18:43So, Pam answers me, she says, I was decidedly on the stay Canadian side, which
- 1:18:48is what I gathered from your videos, but my parents, siblings, many friends on
- 1:18:52the other side, yes, which is, which is what I also gathered from your videos.
- 1:18:57So I rejoiced quietly by my videos, she says.
- 1:19:00Yes, that's what I figured you might be doing.
- 1:19:02A lot of that happens in American politics.
- 1:19:06You don't necessarily share with your coworkers and everybody else in the world
- 1:19:09how you feel about stuff, but when something happens you either celebrate or
- 1:19:14weep quietly to, to yourself.
- 1:19:17Which maybe that's just the way it is, you know?
- 1:19:20You got the winning the week seal says I put the winning the week glitter
- 1:19:24sticker on my spray bottle.
- 1:19:26It's so pretty. Yeah, I like those glitter ones.
- 1:19:30Unfortunately, I'm running out, but I am waiting for, I'm waiting for Sticker
- 1:19:34Mule to start another one of their 29, excuse me, as I'm yawning in your face
- 1:19:40here, I'm waiting for them to start another one of their $29 sales so I can my
- 1:19:45supply of stickers. And I want to get some stickers for one of my podcasts.
- 1:19:50I have a hyper local community podcast here called the Northwest Broward
- 1:19:55podcast, And I want to make some stickers that I can put up around town for that
- 1:20:00podcast. Do you guys want to see what that looks like?
- 1:20:03I made a cool little website for it.
- 1:20:05I'll show it to you.
- 1:20:07Northwest Broward podcast.com Broward is my community.
- 1:20:11I live in Broward County and the Northwest Broward podcast, part of the winning
- 1:20:16the week network. It's value for value, of course.
- 1:20:20Hello, Coral Springs, Parkland, Margate, and Tamarac, Florida.
- 1:20:24Welcome to the Northwest Rower podcast.
- 1:20:26And yes, Boca, you're allowed to listen to, we won't mind.

- 1:20:37And right here, you can listen.
- 1:20:38you by golly can listen to the podcast
- 1:20:45right there right there let's see if I'm through
- 1:20:51into Alexis and drove away hello Coral Springs me start I'm gonna
- 1:20:57stop I'm gonna start that from the beginning so you can hear the hook opening on
- 1:21:02the beginning of this podcast episode somebody grabbed a woman off the street in
- 1:21:07Tamarac and threw her into a Lexus and drove away Hello Coral Springs Parkland
- 1:21:12Margate and Tamarac, Florida and yes Boca you're well there you go see that's
- 1:21:17what that's what that podcast looks like it sounds like you can see I've got
- 1:21:21some links there for people to be.
- 1:21:23able to listen to the podcast in their own podcast app wherever they get their
- 1:21:27podcasts and here's my value for value pitch right there and some links to some
- 1:21:32of my other stuff like the YouTube channel and Discord and ownthefeed.org if you
- 1:21:37want to learn how to podcast.
- 1:21:39I do podcast coaching and of course the live streaming calendar we got a link on
- 1:21:43there so and here's all the previous other episodes I've only got four episodes
- 1:21:48oh my gosh what a slacker Uh, you'd think this guy'd have more episodes by now,
- 1:21:53but it's every Friday, then whoops, new episodes come out every Friday.
- 1:21:57So I'm not sure exactly how I got on the topic of that, but I'm sure, I'm sure
- 1:22:03there was a good reason for it.
- 1:22:04So, oh, that's right. Because I was encouraging the winning the week podcast
- 1:22:08listeners. I was encouraging them to come on over here to YouTube and hang out
- 1:22:13but we're still waiting for the first person to ever say I found you guys on the
- 1:22:18podcast and I wanted to come over and hang out in the YouTube and hang out.
- 1:22:23Brenda says, Scott, do you have any stickers that are on the small size and
- 1:22:29rectangular shaped, I thought I could decorate my cane with them yes I do this
- 1:22:33one right here
- 1:22:34Brenda Would look good on a cane here I can prove it
- 1:22:38I
- 1:22:44Just I just happened to have an antique walking stick right here and we can just
- 1:22:50see Look at that
- 1:22:54That would be that would be just about perfect It only goes about halfway around
- 1:23:00on this here ancient
- 1:23:04walking stick. This one's really old This old walking stick here is probably oh
- 1:23:11Man
- 1:23:13What was that noise? I don't know what that noise was that was weird.
- 1:23:17Did you guys hear that?
- 1:23:21That walking stick's got to be 50 years- years-old or more.
- 1:23:25So yep, Brenda, fill out the form, and I will get you some little ones.
- 1:23:29And I'll give you some big ones, too, just to play with them.
- 1:23:32If you don't want to put them up anywhere in your house, you can stick them
- 1:23:34around your community someplace.
- 1:23:38Porchpiper Tom says I got my DJI Mini mics today feels like I'm part of the
- 1:23:43Mission Impossible team now those things are so tiny aren't they Tom very cool
- 1:23:50Mike says I'd love to find a good walking stick yep I got a good collection of
- 1:23:53walking sticks buddy I don't need a walking cane but I love me a good walking
- 1:23:57stick
- 1:23:59of all places, Bass Pro Shop has really good walking sticks in the camping
- 1:24:04section. If you are anywhere near a Bass Pro Shop, those are some nice ones.
- 1:24:11See here, so the comment of the week, I just wanted to point out real quick the
- 1:24:14comment of the week. Allie had a really good comment here when I was talking
- 1:24:18about
- 1:24:20What was I talking about? Keep your YouTube livestream public after it ends,
- 1:24:25right? And it's funny, Karen had a video this morning where she was saying that
- 1:24:29she came across somebody who said that making your livestreams public after you
- 1:24:35go live is cheating.
- 1:24:40She said this guy was saying it's like you're gaming the system.
- 1:24:43What in the world is the point of doing livestreams if you're not gonna leave
- 1:24:46them on for the replay by golly, I mean, who intentionally marks, we talked
- 1:24:51about that and it came up in the, it came up in the chat here that I don't have
- 1:24:56to mark mine private afterwards, but a lot of you guys do and I tried to figure
- 1:25:00out why. That was a question that came up in live stream.
- 1:25:03So I made a video, She said this guy was saying, it And it turns out that it's
- 1:25:09because I use Ecamm Live, that's my theory, my working theory is that because I
- 1:25:14use Ecamm Live to to do my live streams, it sets it as public already.
- 1:25:19But the default is to set it as private.
- 1:25:21So my encouragement in the video was go back and set on public right away.
- 1:25:26And Ali says, oh, looky, there it is, the latest subscribed fishing friend of
- 1:25:30the day. That's right. It's you, Mr.
- 1:25:32Winning the Week. On Android there's a bug and you can't set the pin icon and
- 1:25:37set visibility. Instead you just hit the next button and then minimize the
- 1:25:41screen and then maximize the stream and then you can hit the pin icon from
- 1:25:45there. So this is a really good comment and tip from Ali that if you can't seem
- 1:25:50to be able to get to it minimize it and then maximize it and then you can set
- 1:25:54the visibility to public. Comes and goes as a bug on Android and took me forever
- 1:25:58to troubleshoot. So thank you for the tip Allie.
- 1:26:01That's very good and Mike has a good comment here He said by the way if you're
- 1:26:05monetized One more step is to go in and
- 1:26:11Now Mike's talking about if you do live streams and you have monetization turned
- 1:26:15off like I do I don't turn on ads During these live streams cuz I hate when ads
- 1:26:21interrupt the live stream people if you turn on ads during the live stream
- 1:26:26It's gonna interrupt that the show all the way through it showing people ads And
- 1:26:31then they got to wait three seconds or five seconds or ten seconds before they
- 1:26:35can skip them and they miss stuff They miss things you said So Mike's point is
- 1:26:40if you have them turned off don't forget to go back and turn it on well guess
- 1:26:43what? I've been forgetting to do that forever,
- 1:26:47um, I went back and looked and there was like 30, 30 live streams that I had
- 1:26:53finished and left us public and never gone back and turned on the dollar sign
- 1:26:57again. So good reminder, Mike, I wish I had thought about that 30 live streams
- 1:27:00again ago, so there you go.
- 1:27:04Yes, Mike says, I was just at a Bass Pro shop on Sunday.
- 1:27:08I did a live stream with Paco, which I would have known.
- 1:27:11I would have bought one. Yep.
- 1:27:13They're over in the camping section, pretty close to the tents and all that that
- 1:27:16stuff. They got some nice walking sticks and they're not all cane length.
- 1:27:20Some of them are, you know, like hiking staffs that they would be called a staff
- 1:27:24really more than a stick. So I bet you find one you like.
- 1:27:29Brian says, I might do a walk in a Bass Pro shop for a stick.
- 1:27:33If you do, um, do a video, do a video in there.
- 1:27:37That would be really cool.
- 1:27:40Yeah, I agree with Brenda.
- 1:27:41She said, Brian, that'd make an interesting video.
- 1:27:43I'd watch it. Yep, absolutely.
- 1:27:44I'd watch it going into stores and stuff like that.
- 1:27:46It's all, it's all fun and games until they tell you to turn it off.
- 1:27:49But it's worth a try, at least until they tell you to turn it off anyway.
- 1:27:53But they might eventually.
- 1:27:56I think we just talked a lot about this, but I've had this thing in here a few
- 1:27:59times because I didn't want to forget to bring it up, but we are going to do a
- 1:28:03party line next week
- 1:28:06to celebrate our 18 months of the channel.
- 1:28:08So test your Zoom between now and then.
- 1:28:11I think most of you folks were already with me when I talked about that last
- 1:28:13time.
- 1:28:17video of the week. I've got a members-only video that I'm gonna play for you
- 1:28:21guys and let you see it. So why don't we go ahead and watch that, and let me
- 1:28:27know what you think about this older video.
- 1:28:29It was a beside it was a behind-the-scenes video from last December of
- 1:28:352025 and again when I hit play on this it's gonna pull it up from YouTube and it
- 1:28:41might do an ad so if it doesn't add I will be clicking skip as soon as it lets
- 1:28:45me. So let's watch the behind the scenes video this is a members only video but
- 1:28:49I'm playing it for all of you to show it to you so check it out.
- 1:28:55Well, there you go. That's your behind the scenes.
- 1:28:58Look from, what was that, a year ago?
- 1:29:01That was fun, walking onto that little hill that's really close to my house.
- 1:29:06I need to take a little walk to there again.
- 1:29:07It's been a long time.
- 1:29:09But guess what time it is?
- 1:29:11It's time to thank the producers, which is you.
- 1:29:14I want to thank all you guys for hanging out and do a quick read through and
- 1:29:18give you guys your shout outs very important if you ask me I think it's very
- 1:29:22important to give you guys shout outs and thank yous for for hanging out and
- 1:29:28providing this great great feedback in the chat can you imagine how terrible it
- 1:29:34would be to do a
- 1:29:37A live stream with nobody at all to talk to an answer and get feedback from it
- 1:29:43be the worst.
- 1:29:45So i bring this up all the time i put i preach this from the mountaintop value
- 1:29:50for value which means no ads a value for value presentation
- 1:29:56basically means that if you get any value for value put a number on it decide
- 1:30:01what it was work to you and you send that back.
- 1:30:03to the creator, the maker, in the form of time, talent, or treasure, right?
- 1:30:09Your time and your talent, we- we just talked about it, hanging out in the chat,
- 1:30:13showing up, watching the videos, leaving comments, hanging out in the live
- 1:30:17stream, sometimes being a guest on the show, um, treasure, you decide how much
- 1:30:23you, uh, you know, it was worth to you if you want to send back a- Some some
- 1:30:27moolah you can go to donate winning the week org which just forwards you
- 1:30:32straight over to paypal YouTube you know what makes it really easy of course
- 1:30:38with the Gift memberships and the super chats and all that stuff which I'm very
- 1:30:42grateful and very appreciative of But you can do donate.winningtheweekanytime as
- 1:30:48well. So that's value for value.
- 1:30:50Don't let anybody ever tell you you're a regular consumer.
- 1:30:53You're not a consumer, you're a producer by golly.
- 1:30:56And I'm designating every single one of you guys in the chat.
- 1:30:59Now I have this list of everybody that I call producers, which is essentially
- 1:31:03everybody who participated in either memberships or super chats
- 1:31:09or buying memberships for people or
- 1:31:13Hanging out in the chat with us and being a member here.
- 1:31:17That's the kind of value. Look at.
- 1:31:19CL returning value for value by being a moderator and we may.
- 1:31:23Not need a moderator very much, but it gives a lot of weight off of my mind
- 1:31:27knowing that I don't have to worry about some hooligan coming in here and
- 1:31:31messing up the place because she's on the job, right?
- 1:31:34She's on the watch. That's value for value.
- 1:31:36That's how. That's how CL returns time and talent.
- 1:31:42So I want to thank you folks.
- 1:31:43Um,
- 1:31:45demonstrating true value for value on the last week, last week, October 21 live
- 1:31:50stream, uh, Mike gave $9.99 for the sweet diet T fund.
- 1:31:56And of course he upped that today.
- 1:31:59And we saw, um, Jay, the resident Rev- secutioner, oh boy, here comes one of
- 1:32:05those sneezes. Achoo!
- 1:32:10I didn't get it in time. I got a real sneeze that time.
- 1:32:14Uh, the resident Rev-secutioner gave a $2 super chat last week.
- 1:32:19J and Devin, Devin is NBA writer one both gifted memberships all over the chat
- 1:32:24which brought a lot of new people into the chat last week which is fantastic
- 1:32:31so no Fred you're not the jerk of the week I'm sorry bud but take a look at this
- 1:32:36you guys we have that is I think 97 members
- 1:32:42right now because you guys keep gifting these memberships out and after tonight

- 1:32:53re-upped on these memberships so long so many times Lori and Mike 11 months
- 1:33:0010 months Glen and Ali at nine months and we
- 1:33:06saw earlier that I think that Mike celebrated an anniversary so some of you
- 1:33:10folks might actually be over the line into one month more than when I ran this
- 1:33:15report which was earlier this morning but there's the traveling wood combs at
- 1:33:20eight months with Mike the aging retiree and Gracie's at seven months Daniel,

- 1:36:53He breaks down the stories everyone's talking about, challenges assumptions and
- 1:36:57refuses to treat any party or narrative as sacred.
- 1:37:01Honest disagreement is one of the fastest ways to learn something new and
- 1:37:04America gets better when every day people speak up instead of waiting for
- 1:37:08permission. That is the springboard, or on YouTube it's the springboard voice.
- 1:37:16Ah look at the beautiful Brenda's broadcast started over at age 60 after her

- 1:38:53stream, you know, Nana's channel is obviously a Christian YouTube channel.
- 1:38:59And some channels are just YouTube channels run by Christians.
- 1:39:03And either way, their approach is totally fine.
- 1:39:05Right.
- 1:39:07Uh, here is the resident rev executioner's exceedingly long nine minutes to

- 1:45:37that's going.
- 1:45:42Let me pause something that's running there in the background.
- 1:45:45There we go. Sorry. Coba's Cat Tales, our friend Tracy, is a YouTube channel
- 1:45:50primarily focused on the life and experience of Tracy's cats.
- 1:45:53Kobe, Sugar, Oliver, Pepper, and Opal get a daily dose of kitty cuteness.
- 1:45:59or am I spelling that right?
- 1:46:01Maybe that's an autocorrect.
- 1:46:02Was it Koba, right?
- 1:46:04Why don't we just fix that right now?
- 1:46:07It's Koba. Why does this always say Koba?
- 1:46:10And it always
- 1:46:12trips me up when I see that typo.
- 1:46:15All right, there we go. Koba.
- 1:46:17Because the name of the channel is Koba's Cat Tail.
- 1:46:19See, why didn't you ever correct me on that and tell me you goofball?
- 1:46:22It's not Kobi.
- 1:46:24Kobi's a basketball player.
- 1:46:26Coba, sugar, oliver, pepper, and opal get a daily dose of kitty cuteness.
- 1:46:32And then our friend Ben, who's gone dark on dark on his channel, is a great

- 1:46:43MissM96, smileyface, that is literally the name of her channel, miss
- 1:46:46.underscoreM96.
- 1:46:49Listen folks, folks, if you make your channel names a long string of weird
- 1:46:55characters and stuff, don't be surprised the people for you.
- 1:46:59So, at miss dot underscore m96 em96, this channel
- 1:47:06is called miss dot em96 smiley face.
- 1:47:09Her channel is about spreading mental health.
- 1:47:13She shares her pets and enjoys connecting with other YouTube content creators,
- 1:47:16and she's been a great fun in the Discord server.
- 1:47:23This is a good point, Oma.
- 1:47:25Catherine had a great video the other day for moderators and livestreams.
- 1:47:28It was really good. Agreed.
- 1:47:30Yep,
- 1:47:32Flight Quest 40 is a YouTube channel that blends passion for flight simulation

- 1:48:00and health maintenance videos.

- 1:48:11Peter Urbanowski is making videos teaching how to use DaVinci Resolve for video
- 1:48:15editing. The Optimistic Absurdist Warren's channel over in Hawaii is dedicated
- 1:48:20to personal growth, exploration and philosophical introspection.
- 1:48:25Warren helped viewers navigate the complexities of life by embracing
- 1:48:29vulnerability and building authentic connections.
- 1:48:33I think some of you guys write these things intentionally to be tongue twisters
- 1:48:36because you know I gotta read them.
- 1:48:38Some of you guys write these things intentionally making me stumble over my
- 1:48:42words here. N.B. Rider One, our friend Devin, who always walks in the door
- 1:48:48and busts out a bunch of gift memberships.
- 1:48:51He's doing metal detecting, drone flying, and hockey time with family.
- 1:48:56This was a cool video. Defying gravity.
- 1:48:58Nova Scotia's volcanic basalt marble.
- 1:49:04Here's Leo, the one blind grandpa's channel.
- 1:49:08Everybody go check out one blind grandpa as he explores his area and gets out
- 1:49:12and does the thing. I really like this video where he tried to get to the beach,
- 1:49:16but the high tide came up and then they were chased away by mosquitoes.
- 1:49:20That was a good one. And that is the end.
- 1:49:28the producer shoutouts just a reminder if you guys would like me to shout you
- 1:49:32out and I haven't said anything drop into our discord server there's a link in
- 1:49:36the video description for discord hop in there and there's a section
- 1:49:39specifically to tell me what you would like to say
- 1:49:46in your shout out yes CL I agree Warren's podcasts are easy to listen to in the
- 1:49:51background
- 1:49:52Amy says, I write young adult fiction and I also have non-fiction out there.
- 1:49:57The non-fiction is about a flood that hit our area back in September of 11 at
- 1:50:012011 and destroyed our downtown area.
- 1:50:04I remember that flood. I ran for years.
- 1:50:07Wow, that's really cool. Amy, I'm gonna Rave to ask you about that in Discord.
- 1:50:12C else's flight quest is fun to watch on the TV.
- 1:50:15I don't always have a chance to leave him a comment.
- 1:50:17That's the only down that's the only downside of watching on TV.
- 1:50:20You got to go through all the extra steps of grabbing the phone to comment.
- 1:50:24It's not always very easy, right?
- 1:50:27Well I think I'm all caught up on chat everybody.
- 1:50:31Stephanie says, Scott, I have a question.
- 1:50:34If you posted a video and got a lot of views but the retention was only eight
- 1:50:38seconds, would you take it down, edit it and then repost it?
- 1:50:43No, I would not but I will tell you what I might do and I'll show it to you
- 1:50:47right now in my Google Chrome.
- 1:50:49What I want to do is I'm going to show you the built-in editor.
- 1:50:52Let's just go to content here.
- 1:50:55and I'm going to pick a video at random just any of my videos let's just pretend
- 1:50:59let's pretend like this video here had really really bad retention and
- 1:51:05how do you get to that analytics just for fun analytics and then right here
- 1:51:11so we can see when it first started off everybody was watching and then like
- 1:51:17half the people dropped by the first 23 seconds so let's fun I did not I
- 1:51:23thought that the first 20 seconds was my problem.
- 1:51:27Instead of taking the video down, editing it and chopping that off and uploading
- 1:51:30it, all you got to do is come over here, Stephanie, click on the editor button
- 1:51:36on the left-hand side that's inside of YouTube Studio, inside the details of any
- 1:51:41video you can click on the editor.
- 1:51:43And they got a full video editor.
- 1:51:47It's not full. It's not like it's super mature, but it's got enough tools.
- 1:51:51So all I would have to do is click on this trim and cut.
- 1:51:55By the way, if you accidentally post your bills or something online you can use
- 1:51:58this blur tool. Here's how you can add some music.
- 1:52:01You can add an end screen.
- 1:52:02You can put in cards. You can put in ads.
- 1:52:05All this kind of stuff. You can add a quiz.
- 1:52:07But up here, I would use this trim and cut button and what that does is it puts
- 1:52:12this little slider tool and I can basically slide this anywhere I want my video
- 1:52:17to cut off the beginning, right?
- 1:52:19So let's just say here, I'm going to hit this zoom button.
- 1:52:21There's a zoom on the top right over here.
- 1:52:24I'm going to zoom in a little bit.
- 1:52:25Let's just say I decided you can see from this audio waveform when I'm talking
- 1:52:30and stuff here. Remember, you're not a consumer.
- 1:52:34let's just say I wanted to actually get past that stuff and I want my video to
- 1:52:38start right there now I want my video so now when I people first come to my
- 1:52:42channel this is what they're gonna see for starters so
- 1:52:46all you do is you just put that little slider wherever you want it to be I've
- 1:52:52got it slid to right here and then you hit save and YouTube chops off the
- 1:52:57beginning of that video and you never get it back and you can never undo this
- 1:53:00work so to be sure you really wanted to you really wanted to do this now let's
- 1:53:04say you wanted to cut off the end you go to the end of the video let's this
- 1:53:07little slider at the bottom I'm gonna go all the way to the end I can say oh my
- 1:53:12goodness I had this music going at the end of my video and everybody laughs so I
- 1:53:17could just take this slider and move this and say now my video is going to be
- 1:53:20right there that's going to be the end of my video boom chop and i can hit save
- 1:53:25the only problem is uh i've put a little card at the end one of these little
- 1:53:29cards that shows what the next video to play is i would have to delete that off
- 1:53:34of there before i could drag this in because you can't Bring this in if you've
- 1:53:38got a card at the end, but that's no big deal You just delete that thing off of
- 1:53:41there and then you could decide my video is gonna end here or it's
- 1:53:46gonna end here But what if there's something in the middle of the video that you
- 1:53:50wanted to get rid of what if you wanted to get rid of?
- 1:53:52Like this section right here.
- 1:53:53Maybe this was really boring and a lot of people were Bailing, bailing out of
- 1:53:58your video and getting out of here.
- 1:53:59Well, all you do is you put it at the beginning of where you want to get rid of
- 1:54:02and you click up here right here it says new cut so you click on that and look
- 1:54:07at this it's going to cut out whatever you select in red and maybe it's kind of
- 1:54:12hard to see what you're at so let's just zoom in a little bit there we go now we
- 1:54:16go like okay from the beginning of that speech to the end of that I just want
- 1:54:21the video to jump over that so I just hit play and let's just test it
- 1:54:26take away our joy still our joy about see it just
- 1:54:33took it all all I have to do is hit this check mark right here book and now that
- 1:54:37part is gonna get cut out of the video and then when you're done with all this
- 1:54:41you just click save in the top right corner and it takes about five minutes or
- 1:54:45ten minutes for YouTube to process these changes.
- 1:54:48off the front of your video or the end of your video or the middle of your
- 1:54:52video. Now I'm going to go ahead here and hit discard changes.
- 1:54:56Cause I don't want to make changes to this video, but that's how you do that.
- 1:55:00You don't need to take it down and re-edit it and re-upload it.
- 1:55:03Cause then you lose all the views that you've had already.
- 1:55:07And by golly, I've had 95 views on this video or which are, I don't remember
- 1:55:10which one I was working on.
- 1:55:12I was working on one of these other ones down here somewhere, somehow,
- 1:55:15somewhere. So that's how you do that.
- 1:55:18Who was it who asked me? That was that Oma?
- 1:55:20No, that was Stephanie. That was Stephanie's question.
- 1:55:23There you go. That's your answer.
- 1:55:25That's my, that's my answer and I'm sticking to it.
- 1:55:29Let's just get caught up on the chat and we'll say good night to everybody here.
- 1:55:33Hope that helps you, Stephanie.
