- 0:36Speaker 3: To surbey me? Welcome to I said, no gifts. I'm
- 0:52Speaker 3: Richard Wineger. We are in the backyard. Very pleasant morning
- 0:58Speaker 3: so far. I did spray myself with the hose. I'm
- 1:01Speaker 3: drying off mostly. Oh and there's even a bird that's
- 1:05Speaker 3: just immediately getting in on the show, which I love.
- 1:08Speaker 3: We've got a lot of business. We have a lot
- 1:09Speaker 3: of business up top here. Of course. The New York Show,
- 1:12Speaker 3: which we announced last week, continues to be in the future.
- 1:16Speaker 3: October thirteenth. It's a Sunday night. You've got to be there.
- 1:20Speaker 3: It's at the Bellhouse, the Bellhouse ny dot com. I
- 1:24Speaker 3: don't know what the ticket sales are at this point.
- 1:26Speaker 3: You may already be out of luck. I don't know
- 1:27Speaker 3: what to say. Just get on it. I mean, the
- 1:30Speaker 3: things we already have in store for this thing, I'm
- 1:31Speaker 3: going crazy. It's going to be a ball now. The
- 1:34Speaker 3: other piece of businesses thousands of people have asked me
- 1:38Speaker 3: to comment on the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and
- 1:43Speaker 3: I guess I should just get in and give my commentary.
- 1:48Speaker 3: And I watched the trailer and it seems like a
- 1:50Speaker 3: wonderful group of gals with fantastic husbands to boot. I
- 1:54Speaker 3: don't know what else to say about it. They do
- 1:56Speaker 3: all seem to share the same hairdresser. They've got every
- 1:59Speaker 3: one of them has the same highlights and waves. That
- 2:02Speaker 3: should be the point of the show, you know, well,
- 2:05Speaker 3: this will be a continuing conversation with the Secret Lives
- 2:08Speaker 3: of Mormon Wives. I think that's what it's called. It's
- 2:09Speaker 3: on Hulu. Who cares, Let's get into the podcast. I
- 2:13Speaker 3: love today's guest. It's e J Marcus. E J. Welcome
- 2:17Speaker 3: to I said no gifts, Thank you so much. It's
- 2:19Speaker 3: kind of just had to blow through some information up top. There.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Have you seen this trailer for the Secret Lives of
- 2:24Speaker 3: Mormon Wives.
- 2:25Speaker 2: I haven't, but I'm not what it's called.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I maybe now that it rhymes yeah, like that would
- 2:33Speaker 3: be an odd title for.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Show, well, or an amazing catchy.
- 2:37Speaker 3: On a Liisa's that's the title of the show on
- 2:40Speaker 3: Liise has not even looked it up onalise is hanging
- 2:42Speaker 3: by a thread employment wise, Okay, Okay, that's nodding their head. Okay,
- 2:48Speaker 3: it is the secret lives of Mormon wives.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:50Speaker 3: These gals we're on TikTok kind of became famous for
- 2:54Speaker 3: being Mormon wives on TikTok, kind of like these long
- 2:59Speaker 3: wavy hair.
- 3:00Speaker 2: With the highlights beautiful.
- 3:02Speaker 3: And then I guess there was like a scandal they
- 3:05Speaker 3: were What's what I've learned is called soft swinging with
- 3:10Speaker 3: each other's usban's, but I'm not entirely clear on what
- 3:13Speaker 3: that means.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Oh my god. Okay, Well, I'm I'm really fascinated by
- 3:16Speaker 2: all of this, I might say. I mean, I'm I'm
- 3:18Speaker 2: kind of interested in the idea of swinging generally, just
- 3:21Speaker 2: like conceptually, because I think it's like a generational difference.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you know, because it's like, you know, people
- 3:27Speaker 2: my age and younger they're doing a sort of polyamorous
- 3:29Speaker 2: thing totally. But I think swinging is very cool actually,
- 3:33Speaker 2: so soft swinging, I'm like, now, what can that?
- 3:35Speaker 3: What does it mean? Does it just mean having a
- 3:38Speaker 3: conversation with someone else's husband?
- 3:40Speaker 2: Right, it's like just flirting in the same roomance? Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 2: where there's like palpable sexual a.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Wink. Yeah, like a brush against a shoulder.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Right, which is kind of the best of all worlds.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Oh yeah, of course you get a little and then
- 3:56Speaker 3: you get to fantasize suggestion, right, beautiful. The word swinging,
- 4:02Speaker 3: it just always feels so dated. It feels like such
- 4:05Speaker 3: a seventies thing.
- 4:07Speaker 2: But I'm like, bring back swinging parties, Like, are people
- 4:10Speaker 2: doing this?
- 4:10Speaker 1: They must?
- 4:11Speaker 3: I think these Mormon wives.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Okay, they're leading the charge absolutely front of culture.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Okay, got They are choreographic dances and bringing swinging back
- 4:20Speaker 3: in a huge way in kind of these bland suburban homes.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Very beige, okay, all kind of the gray floor.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Oh yeah, the gray floor.
- 4:30Speaker 3: But they're making a career out of it. Who who's
- 4:32Speaker 3: got a whole? I don't know. It's probably four episodes,
- 4:35Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and you were asked to comment on it.
- 4:38Speaker 3: A lot of nature because I'm from Utah and a
- 4:42Speaker 3: lot of listeners have just reached out sending the trailer.
- 4:45Speaker 3: What do you think of this?
- 4:47Speaker 2: Speak on it?
- 4:48Speaker 3: Please need the final word totally, So that's uh, I'm
- 4:54Speaker 3: sure I'll get hooked, you know.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean I think I will as well.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Now it's inevitable.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Do you watch any reality TV?
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and this is always a surprise to people for
- 5:04Speaker 2: some reason. But I am really into The Bachelor. Oh interesting,
- 5:07Speaker 2: I'm in like a really avid like I go to
- 5:10Speaker 2: a watch party every week.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Wow.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, And I it's kind of the one. I mean,
- 5:17Speaker 2: I've dabbled in other like dating reality shows. I was
- 5:20Speaker 2: big on the Queer Ultimatum. Obviously that was legendary, but
- 5:24Speaker 2: I the Bachelor is the one that I feel like
- 5:27Speaker 2: most invested, like culturally and just because I think it's like,
- 5:32Speaker 2: I think it's so fascinating.
- 5:34Speaker 3: How do you have never watched a full episode?
- 5:36Speaker 2: I mean and and fair like.
- 5:38Speaker 3: But also not because I feel like an entire culture
- 5:42Speaker 3: is watching the show.
- 5:43Speaker 1: It is.
- 5:44Speaker 2: It's what's a Bachelor nation nation the country?
- 5:48Speaker 3: There is a city state to the Bachelor.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah. So I just think it's really interesting the way
- 5:55Speaker 2: that like it's gamified. There's like a million podcasts that
- 5:59Speaker 2: talk about this, right, right, and that's it gamified. So okay,
- 6:04Speaker 2: this is something that I've only been privy to in
- 6:06Speaker 2: the last couple of months because of my you know,
- 6:08Speaker 2: Bachelor watch parties. The girls are sort of filling me
- 6:10Speaker 2: in on stuff. The idea is like with the Bachelor,
- 6:13Speaker 2: So it's like, you know the Bachelor, and then there's
- 6:15Speaker 2: all these women competing for his love and affection, right supposedly,
- 6:19Speaker 2: but then if you kind of take it apart, it's
- 6:21Speaker 2: like the women are actually the ones that are kind
- 6:24Speaker 2: of in control because they're playing the game and they're
- 6:27Speaker 2: manipulating I mean maybe manipulating the strong word, but they're
- 6:30Speaker 2: they're like using him to get what they want. Oh,
- 6:32Speaker 2: like the way that these podcasts talk about it, They're
- 6:34Speaker 2: like they're like she was able to produce tears and
- 6:38Speaker 2: therefore an illicit and a reaction from it. Like that's
- 6:41Speaker 2: the language they're using. It's like and I'm sorry, I
- 6:44Speaker 2: don't remember the names of the actual podcast, but like
- 6:48Speaker 2: they're coining these really interesting terms that I think it's
- 6:51Speaker 2: sort of interesting.
- 6:53Speaker 3: And what do the women want? What are they trying
- 6:56Speaker 3: to just fame?
- 6:57Speaker 2: I think it's a myriad of things. Like I think
- 6:58Speaker 2: it's like the some of them, I'm sure are genuinely
- 7:01Speaker 2: looking for a lifetime of like marriage. I don't know,
- 7:06Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know, but I'm like, I'm like,
- 7:08Speaker 2: so scart of when to get canceled for this really
- 7:10Speaker 2: Like I'm like, I'm like, I should not come for you.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah there, and they are fierce, but but yeah, I
- 7:16Speaker 2: feel like some of them maybe literally want marriage. I
- 7:18Speaker 2: think also they're like wanting yeah, like a career of
- 7:22Speaker 2: their own or like they have like other things they
- 7:24Speaker 2: want to promote obviously.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Right, energy drinks, Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Things like that. And I think they're also like I
- 7:32Speaker 2: think some of them are just like on there to
- 7:33Speaker 2: kind of like have fun on reality TV. Like I
- 7:36Speaker 2: don't know, like I think it's like a very interesting
- 7:39Speaker 2: but they own it. Like I think that's the thing is,
- 7:41Speaker 2: like they're like pretty you can kind of tell who's
- 7:44Speaker 2: there for.
- 7:45Speaker 3: What, right. I Mean, my only like closest experience I
- 7:48Speaker 3: have to this is Survivor, where like you watch New
- 7:50Speaker 3: Survivor and the contestants have been watching it for such
- 7:54Speaker 3: a long time that it's no longer like they're aware
- 7:56Speaker 3: of the show in a way that like kind of
- 7:59Speaker 3: ruins the show. It's so longer that thing.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah, It's definitely different than like in the early seasons
- 8:05Speaker 2: of reality shows, where I feel like people were kind
- 8:06Speaker 2: of like I mean pretty much psychologically just sort of tortured,
- 8:10Speaker 2: not knowing what they were getting in.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Right, and we're actually documenting these people being absolutely manipulated
- 8:15Speaker 3: by producers.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, Yeah, they're like, oh, I'm like, I guess
- 8:18Speaker 2: I'm gonna be on TV and like sort of no
- 8:19Speaker 2: one could anticipate what was gonna happen, and it's sort
- 8:22Speaker 2: of hugely upsetting to watch.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Are you so, are you new to The Bachelor.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Like relatively like some people I mean obviously have been
- 8:30Speaker 2: watching for years and years. The first season I watched
- 8:33Speaker 2: was like the quarantine, Like twenty twenty season there was
- 8:37Speaker 2: a quarantine there was and that one was extra weird
- 8:39Speaker 2: because like usually they're flying them all over the world
- 8:41Speaker 2: and this one it was kind of like and we're
- 8:44Speaker 2: in Pennsylvan.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Moving around the yard.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like they're like scaling like the same
- 8:50Speaker 2: building on like a like because they always do like
- 8:52Speaker 2: like a very active sort of like they're jumping.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Out of oh right, like skydie yeah yeah, bungee jumping. Yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 2: And this one they were like climb up the same wall.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Use this writing lawnmower, yeah, which I love. Okay, wow,
- 9:07Speaker 3: I yeah, I always I feel like I should probably
- 9:10Speaker 3: try to watch an entire season I've but it's every
- 9:14Speaker 3: time I try to dip in. I don't know.
- 9:16Speaker 2: It's so reality it is, it's completely and I think
- 9:20Speaker 2: that for me is why I feel like I get
- 9:22Speaker 2: a little scared when it feels like there's the lines
- 9:25Speaker 2: are blurry like between like The Bachelor's so overproduced and ridiculous,
- 9:30Speaker 2: like the conversations like these, like no one thinks this is.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Real, right right, I mean it's so stilted. It's like
- 9:38Speaker 3: the act you're seeing acting choices, yes, like truly.
- 9:41Speaker 2: You're seeing people be like Okay, who is my character again?
- 9:44Speaker 2: And I love that because it's just so silly, like
- 9:46Speaker 2: it actually feels like camp. But then like I feel
- 9:49Speaker 2: like when reality shows get a little blurry and I'm
- 9:51Speaker 2: like oh uh oh, like people are like taking this seriously,
- 9:54Speaker 2: then I get a little scared, right right, Yeah.
- 9:57Speaker 3: Do you think you would ever go on a reality show?
- 9:59Speaker 2: I don't think. I well, I think I would maybe
- 10:01Speaker 2: do like a in the world of Survivor kind of
- 10:04Speaker 2: one more competitive, yeah, like like what's it called, like
- 10:07Speaker 2: the Ninja Warrior one?
- 10:08Speaker 3: I love nothing more?
- 10:10Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I have dreams of like one day like
- 10:13Speaker 2: making that my thing.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Do they have team Ninja Warrior. I feel like we
- 10:16Speaker 3: should go on together.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Know, oh my god, people would underestimate us, Oh my god,
- 10:20Speaker 2: and we would kill it. We would kill it.
- 10:22Speaker 3: I just I know that we would be able to
- 10:24Speaker 3: do this Ninja Warrior reach out. Yeah, it seems so fun.
- 10:28Speaker 3: Does anyone ever get injured on that?
- 10:30Speaker 2: I'm sure there's no way everyone's walking away in one piece?
- 10:36Speaker 3: No, correct me if I'm wrong. Ninja Warrior is the
- 10:38Speaker 3: one where you're kind of scrambling around on things.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty like insane physical challenges where they're like
- 10:44Speaker 2: again like throwing themselves into like I feel like it's
- 10:47Speaker 2: like a lot of like padded like like weird. Wait
- 10:50Speaker 2: is Ninja weorri the one way you fond of the lava?
- 10:53Speaker 3: That's uh or don't touch the lava? The flora is
- 10:58Speaker 3: that one's the flora lava?
- 10:59Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, So I'm getting a couple completed. But yeah,
- 11:01Speaker 2: both of those I think we could do great.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Yes, I feel like Ninja Warrior. You're frequently over a
- 11:06Speaker 3: body of water like a swimming pool. Helicopter, Thank you
- 11:09Speaker 3: for joining us.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Thank you there, moving on with your day. That's my ride.
- 11:16Speaker 3: A rope dangles down and they just take off Ninja Warrior.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I feel like you're over a swimming pool, So it
- 11:22Speaker 3: seems like that's the very least you get to be
- 11:24Speaker 3: refreshed if you fall.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a nice perspective.
- 11:27Speaker 3: The floor is lava. I feel like it's just literally
- 11:29Speaker 3: like yeah, pieces of styrofoam or something that you fall into.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, and the floor is lava. The thing that
- 11:35Speaker 2: they do sometimes is like you can tell that it's
- 11:38Speaker 2: only like a three foot deep like pool, and then
- 11:42Speaker 2: sometimes it is like a liquid like a stew sort of, yeah,
- 11:46Speaker 2: like a stew, like a human stew. But I feel
- 11:50Speaker 2: like sometimes you can tell that they've told them like
- 11:53Speaker 2: make it like you're drowning, and then they're like, ah,
- 11:57Speaker 2: like they like have to like melt physically.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it should be at least like uncomfortably hot water.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Maybe not scalding, but enough where you like, oh.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely definitely at least that.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I mean, why call it lava? I mean, otherwise we're not.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Gonna cold ice. Cool could be fine, just something to
- 12:16Speaker 2: get a scream, yeah, and that's also good for your
- 12:18Speaker 2: muscles that.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Yeah, you're getting a cold plunge, which is so you
- 12:23Speaker 3: know on trend for everybody Flora's ice plunge.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Then people would be signing up. They would they not
- 12:29Speaker 2: to turn people away. I wouldn't want to do it.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Everyone's going there for their help. Yeah please, I don't
- 12:35Speaker 2: have insurance.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Ninja Warrior we would be perfectly at
- 12:42Speaker 3: the very least fine on m Yeah. I think we
- 12:45Speaker 3: would straight by, but we would definitely scramble around make entertaining.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Oh yeah, absolutely, yeah. I wonder if you have to
- 12:52Speaker 3: do training for that. How do you do training for
- 12:54Speaker 3: a Ninja Warrior program.
- 12:56Speaker 2: I'm sure it's intensive.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I mean, do you think they are like specific programs.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I wonder what I'm thinking about now is that, like
- 13:04Speaker 2: back to the injury thing. My friend is a physical therapist,
- 13:07Speaker 2: and she told me this was like horrifying for me
- 13:10Speaker 2: to learn as someone who plays in a rec soccer
- 13:12Speaker 2: league once every three months. She said that the most
- 13:17Speaker 2: common injuries that she sees are like adults, like people
- 13:21Speaker 2: over the age of like twenty eight, oh boy, who
- 13:24Speaker 2: have like casually gotten into like a sport every once
- 13:26Speaker 2: in a while, but are not properly like stretching or
- 13:29Speaker 2: doing anything like. So she sees like torn acls from
- 13:32Speaker 2: people who are like, I played in one rec basketball
- 13:34Speaker 2: game and then I got messed my body up so badly.
- 13:38Speaker 2: So that's why I'm like, I hope that they are preparing.
- 13:41Speaker 3: That would stretching for a few minutes before the big.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Warrior girls like it would be like the sad kind
- 13:47Speaker 2: of injury where it's like you wouldn't see anything you
- 13:49Speaker 2: have right, but in suddenly it's like someone's like, I'm
- 13:53Speaker 2: in the most pain I've ever been in.
- 13:55Speaker 3: My writhing in pain, and we don't get to see
- 13:56Speaker 3: any gore, broken bones or anything. Yeah, they like stepped
- 14:00Speaker 3: backwards a little. Two guys they reached for a too
- 14:03Speaker 3: high shelf. Yeah, like, oh okay, yeah, that's something to
- 14:09Speaker 3: keep in mind. Wow, I'm not gonna I guess I
- 14:11Speaker 3: can't do any sports.
- 14:12Speaker 2: You just have to be like unfortunately stretching like way
- 14:16Speaker 2: more than your stretching, which is like the least fun part. Oh,
- 14:20Speaker 2: it's so boring, I know. I'm like, oh, like, okay,
- 14:22Speaker 2: I'll lunge around.
- 14:23Speaker 3: I guess you do yoga or anything.
- 14:25Speaker 2: No, No, Like I'm so bored, but I know that
- 14:29Speaker 2: I should do you do yoga?
- 14:31Speaker 3: No, I lift weights and for about forty seconds before
- 14:35Speaker 3: I go to the gym, I'll stretch. Okay, so not enough.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, but at least I'm like going through the motion.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a suggestion, evidently, right, I think the body
- 14:44Speaker 2: appreciates a suggestion.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, it's as long as you're thinking about it. It's
- 14:48Speaker 2: like the same.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, from that one, I'll just think about it
- 14:50Speaker 3: on the right over okay, perfect, Yeah, some serious thought
- 14:53Speaker 3: about stretch.
- 14:55Speaker 2: By the time you're there, you're already bored event, and
- 14:56Speaker 2: so you can just skip.
- 14:57Speaker 3: It, so limber.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. Oh, and I'm like, okay, I should stretch
- 15:02Speaker 2: after this, after the drive over.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't think I've ever actually done yoga at all,
- 15:10Speaker 3: now that we're saying, I think I've done a child's post.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Okay, that one's nice.
- 15:15Speaker 3: And then I think I've probably done Oh. I was
- 15:19Speaker 3: going to a trainer for a couple of months, like
- 15:22Speaker 3: as the pandemic was kind of slowing down a little bit,
- 15:27Speaker 3: and he would have me do different cat cow, I
- 15:30Speaker 3: think of something, and then he started really recommending Joe Rogan. Oh,
- 15:35Speaker 3: and that became part of about half of the workout time.
- 15:39Speaker 3: So we had to I kind of had to just
- 15:40Speaker 3: kind of slowly remove myself from him.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Yeah. The crazy thing with that kind of guy is
- 15:46Speaker 2: that it actually is like I've found, like it's not
- 15:49Speaker 2: who you're expecting it to be that you're talking to
- 15:52Speaker 2: and is suddenly like, wait, have you listened to this
- 15:54Speaker 2: guy Joe Rogan And you're like, whoa? I actually thought
- 15:58Speaker 2: we were kind of like on the same base.
- 16:00Speaker 3: And that's where it becomes tricky because you have to
- 16:01Speaker 3: kind of let them down.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yeah, because you're like, I don't want to just be
- 16:05Speaker 2: like whoa, okay crazy and walk away or whatever. I mean, sorry,
- 16:08Speaker 2: but like it's kind of I mean, when I run
- 16:11Speaker 2: into that, it's frequently like oh yeah, I'll have to
- 16:13Speaker 2: check it out. Yeah yeah, yeah, I'll like fake, I'll like,
- 16:16Speaker 2: oh maybe I'll write that down.
- 16:17Speaker 3: In my notes.
- 16:17Speaker 2: You're like Joe, what was it?
- 16:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and then just avoid because you don't want to
- 16:24Speaker 3: follow up.
- 16:25Speaker 2: No, no, you don't want to have to be like
- 16:27Speaker 2: I took a listen.
- 16:30Speaker 3: And it really does kind of have some real common
- 16:33Speaker 3: sense answers.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I was. I was surprisingly engaged. Yeah.
- 16:38Speaker 3: No, this trainer was like talking about Joe broken, but
- 16:39Speaker 3: then getting into like guests like I guess he has
- 16:41Speaker 3: a guest that like and encourages people to do small
- 16:44Speaker 3: amounts of heroin or something. I was like, I'm hearing
- 16:47Speaker 3: this from someone who's supposed to be caring about my
- 16:49Speaker 3: canileth on some level, right, And.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Then you're kind of like, so, what else do you believe?
- 16:55Speaker 3: Like what is this entire philosophy.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Of It's a hard one to track I've found.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, And then there were like I kind of
- 17:05Speaker 3: just ghosted him. Then maybe like once every two weeks
- 17:08Speaker 3: I was getting a text, and once a month. Then
- 17:10Speaker 3: he vanished, and then he texted like a one year anniversary.
- 17:14Speaker 3: And it's not simply not getting responses to any of
- 17:17Speaker 3: these things just go away. Yeah, but I guess he
- 17:20Speaker 3: thought we had built something.
- 17:22Speaker 2: It's so perplexing to me when people continue to text
- 17:27Speaker 2: after you haven't been responding, Like it's actually the most
- 17:29Speaker 2: confusing thing, like outside of I know it's like a
- 17:32Speaker 2: meme at this point of like people from dating apps
- 17:33Speaker 2: or whatever, but like in like just like a normal
- 17:37Speaker 2: like friendship or like acquaintanceship and then you haven't been responded,
- 17:42Speaker 2: like I would never mortifying, like someone doesn't respond to
- 17:46Speaker 2: me for a few days I'm like noted, like like
- 17:49Speaker 2: I understand, I'm not returning to that thread because it's
- 17:53Speaker 2: just like I mean, I don't want to see it
- 17:54Speaker 2: in silence. Yeah, I don't want to look up and
- 17:56Speaker 2: be like, oh, I asked you a question and you
- 17:58Speaker 2: never responded, like you're obviously busy, at the very.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Least busier than me. Yeah, and that alone, that's.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Fine, but like to follow up and be like thinking
- 18:10Speaker 2: about you, it's crazy.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I am. I don't know what the psychology is.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I guess some people just their communication methods are different.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I guess so some people are desperate, some people are lonely,
- 18:26Speaker 3: some people are dangerous, all totally valid things to be.
- 18:33Speaker 2: It is so valid to be dangerous. We support you, like,
- 18:38Speaker 2: keep doing you serious?
- 18:40Speaker 3: If anything, do it more? Yeah, because we're all wondering
- 18:43Speaker 3: are you dangerous? We want to know they are dangerous?
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we want the confirmation.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Yeah. We need to be able to spread the word.
- 18:51Speaker 2: The ambiguous identity of dangerous. It's such an interesting one.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Let us celebrate how dangerous you are. Could means so
- 18:58Speaker 2: many things dangerous in what way? Dangerously friendly?
- 19:08Speaker 3: I mean speaking of communication methods and not quite getting it.
- 19:12Speaker 3: This sort of thing this podcast is called. I said
- 19:15Speaker 3: no gifts, I of course was thrilled to have you
- 19:18Speaker 3: here today. Eachj will come along, we'll have a perfect conversation,
- 19:23Speaker 3: and then we'll move on with our days. So I
- 19:27Speaker 3: was flabbergasted, thrown and floored when I kind of met
- 19:34Speaker 3: you at my gate. We almost ran into each other
- 19:37Speaker 3: meet cute style, and you were holding this gorgeous gift bag.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I'm trying to just wrap my head around what's going
- 19:47Speaker 3: on right now? Is this gift for me?
- 19:52Speaker 2: It is?
- 19:53Speaker 3: Okay, totally fine, absolutely fair? Should I open it here
- 19:58Speaker 3: on the podcast? I would like that, okay, right, okay,
- 20:08Speaker 3: So I'm happy to open it. I'm happy to get
- 20:12Speaker 3: in here.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:12Speaker 3: It's kind of this gorgeous bag with different cake and sweets,
- 20:16Speaker 3: which I just love. And then we've got the tissue,
- 20:19Speaker 3: which we're trying to get into more on the podcast.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Recently we had kind of a dry spell of noise,
- 20:25Speaker 3: and now we're getting back into the tissue noise and
- 20:28Speaker 3: I'm reaching in, reaching in, pulling out oh now. So yeah,
- 20:37Speaker 3: So the truth is this. It did not come in
- 20:39Speaker 3: a bag. I came into the backyard and you just
- 20:40Speaker 3: kind of had it on the table, So I said,
- 20:43Speaker 3: we have to get this in a bag for the surprise.
- 20:45Speaker 3: So I kind of tried to not look at it. Yeah,
- 20:47Speaker 3: I saw a piece of paper with rocks glued to it,
- 20:50Speaker 3: but nothing else. Okay, and so now we're getting into
- 20:52Speaker 3: the surprise. But it says common rocks and minerals of
- 20:55Speaker 3: Eating Canyon. What's happening here for asking?
- 21:00Speaker 2: So so basically this is a you were You were
- 21:06Speaker 2: exactly right. It's basically a piece of paper with rocks
- 21:09Speaker 2: glued to it, but it's an informational sort of item
- 21:16Speaker 2: that tells you about the different rocks that you can
- 21:19Speaker 2: find in eating can do you know eaton Canyon?
- 21:22Speaker 3: No? Is it in l A.
- 21:23Speaker 2: It is in.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Altadena, Okay, beautiful Altady.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Beautiful Aladina. So here's the thing about this is that
- 21:29Speaker 2: so I took a class last spring where I learned
- 21:33Speaker 2: all about like the different natural elements of this canyon
- 21:36Speaker 2: in Altadena.
- 21:37Speaker 3: What a specific class?
- 21:38Speaker 2: Yeah? Where did you.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Find the class?
- 21:41Speaker 2: Well, I was on a walk at this canyon and
- 21:44Speaker 2: they had there was a sign.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Someone jumped out of the bushes.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Yeah, someone jumped out of the bushes. And I never
- 21:49Speaker 2: wants to learn I have a lot to teach you.
- 21:52Speaker 3: I was like, oh my god, it okay, that is
- 21:53Speaker 3: the scariest thing for someone to jumping out of a bush.
- 21:56Speaker 2: To hi and I'm dangerous.
- 21:59Speaker 3: I was like, oh, you're so Yeah.
- 22:03Speaker 2: So I was on a walk in the canyon. I
- 22:05Speaker 2: saw a poster that said Docent Naturalists Training Volunteer Training Program.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Okay, oh my god.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of a lot. It's a mouthful, but
- 22:14Speaker 2: basically it was like a bi weekly class that twice
- 22:18Speaker 2: a week. Because bi weekly can be.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Bi weekly, We've got a narrow down what that means.
- 22:23Speaker 2: So that was twice a week and for like a
- 22:27Speaker 2: few months, and I went in every day with a
- 22:29Speaker 2: bunch of I would majority older people, and we learned
- 22:34Speaker 2: how to like take like all of the things you
- 22:37Speaker 2: need to know about the canyon to kind of like
- 22:39Speaker 2: tour people through the canyon. Oh so it was kind
- 22:41Speaker 2: of like a tour guide teacher class. And that's what
- 22:43Speaker 2: a docent is, which I of course connected. Yeah, but
- 22:49Speaker 2: this is like a canyon docent.
- 22:50Speaker 3: You've rarely rarely seen canyon docent, right, It's.
- 22:53Speaker 2: A rare one. And so I was like, you know what, frankly,
- 22:57Speaker 2: was it a period of my life where I felt
- 22:59Speaker 2: I had nothing going on, and so I said, sure,
- 23:03Speaker 2: I will become a docent of you in canyon. And
- 23:08Speaker 2: so I sat in this room twice a week with
- 23:10Speaker 2: these lovely people, and I learned all about it. And
- 23:12Speaker 2: then when I graduated, mm hmmm, I got a bag
- 23:15Speaker 2: of tricks you could say that are like things that
- 23:18Speaker 2: help you, like walk people through the canyon and teach
- 23:20Speaker 2: them about so oh great, and this was one of
- 23:22Speaker 2: those things. And what's awesome about it is it's pretty direct,
- 23:26Speaker 2: Like I mean, you sort of on first glance could
- 23:28Speaker 2: kind of tell what it was, right, right, And it's
- 23:30Speaker 2: just like the different rocks that are found in the canyon, yes,
- 23:33Speaker 2: which a lot of the details about them I have forgotten.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Okay, so you're so, I'm not like rusty as.
- 23:38Speaker 2: A rusty as a docent, but I felt like, you know,
- 23:41Speaker 2: it is something that if you were like going on
- 23:44Speaker 2: a walk kind of anywhere in LA it's kind of
- 23:45Speaker 2: a fun thing to have in your bag.
- 23:47Speaker 3: Right right. So okay, so let's get back to this
- 23:50Speaker 3: class for a minute. You're going twice a week. How
- 23:53Speaker 3: big was the class? Like?
- 23:55Speaker 2: Twenty people?
- 23:55Speaker 3: Okay, twenty people? You were the lot ofgest preshared people.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Yeah, are you making frin Oh yeah, lifelong temporarily mean
- 24:04Speaker 2: we've stayed in touch. You're texting email? Yeah, I'm emailing
- 24:09Speaker 2: a bit, you know. I mean, actually, genuinely, it was
- 24:11Speaker 2: really sweet they I was. It was around the time
- 24:14Speaker 2: when I was doing my show in the like Netflix's
- 24:16Speaker 2: Joke Festival, right, and a lot of them did come
- 24:18Speaker 2: to my show. Oh that's very which was really sweet.
- 24:21Speaker 2: That's wonderful. Yeah, I love those guys. But yeah, it
- 24:24Speaker 2: was also just it was kind of like a side
- 24:26Speaker 2: of la that I haven't really seen because I'm so
- 24:29Speaker 2: kind of I don't know, you know how it is.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I'm sort of hanging out with a sort of bohemian
- 24:35Speaker 2: type artistic you know, these people, and so these like
- 24:39Speaker 2: it was cool to be in a class with someone
- 24:41Speaker 2: who's like, oh, I'm like a retired biologist.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Right, I'm someone who does something meaningful. Yeah, did something
- 24:46Speaker 3: meaningful and has knowledge.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah, truly truly knowledge to share that like actually deeply
- 24:50Speaker 2: impacts our physical environment, and I'm willing to forge real relationships.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I'm sort of showing up completely authentically as myself.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I was like that is, I mean, what a novel content.
- 25:02Speaker 3: You do have to go to the canyons to find that?
- 25:04Speaker 3: You do? You do?
- 25:06Speaker 2: So yeah, I learned a lot.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Okay, So and what were you learning, Like what were
- 25:11Speaker 3: the interesting things you were learning from this class that
- 25:13Speaker 3: you were like, Oh, that's fascinating.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Well it started.
- 25:16Speaker 3: It was cool.
- 25:17Speaker 2: It was sort of like on a timeline of like
- 25:20Speaker 2: the first things we learned about were like the indigenous
- 25:23Speaker 2: tongue of people that lived in the canyon before the
- 25:24Speaker 2: Spanish settlers, right right, Well, they didn't actually live in
- 25:27Speaker 2: the canyon full time. Usually they were there sort of
- 25:30Speaker 2: seasonally depending on like what like things they were foraging for.
- 25:34Speaker 2: But yeah, so like learning about like the histories of
- 25:37Speaker 2: like people that have been in like Altadena for like
- 25:39Speaker 2: way longer than white people. And then we moved into
- 25:42Speaker 2: just like different natural elements of the canyons. So like
- 25:45Speaker 2: start with plants, animals, you know, learning stuff of like
- 25:49Speaker 2: because really they're prepping you to be able to walk
- 25:51Speaker 2: through mostly children like groups of children.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Oh okay, we're doing that deal trip.
- 25:55Speaker 2: So it's like they're like focusing on stuff of like Okay,
- 25:58Speaker 2: this kind of lizard changes colors depending on how much
- 26:01Speaker 2: sun he's gone in the day.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Oh, but that's a fact. But it's like.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Awesome stuff, you know, Like it's like, Okay, I'm walking
- 26:07Speaker 2: around my neighborhood. I'm like, uh, that lizard's pretty dark.
- 26:11Speaker 2: He doesn't need any more sun. You know, it's at
- 26:14Speaker 2: risk for melanoma. Yeah, like he needs to get inside.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Yeah, are human?
- 26:18Speaker 2: No?
- 26:18Speaker 3: Yeah, actually that's a set topic of melanoma. Mel we're
- 26:21Speaker 3: not getting into let's get into it, MELI. Yeah. Oh
- 26:25Speaker 3: so you learned about all of these what sort of
- 26:27Speaker 3: animals are scurrying about in the canyons?
- 26:30Speaker 2: I mean all kinds, Like there's okay, let me let
- 26:34Speaker 2: me see if I can get this fact actually completely right.
- 26:36Speaker 2: La is one of two megacities in the world that
- 26:42Speaker 2: is home to a large predator cat.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Oh.
- 26:48Speaker 2: So it's like it's La and I'm pretty sure Dubai
- 26:52Speaker 2: the two to buy. Yeah, are the two like mega
- 26:56Speaker 2: cities in the world. Oh my god, I hope I'm
- 26:57Speaker 2: getting this right.
- 26:58Speaker 3: On a Lisha's rap. You're checking the internet.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Okay. Cool.
- 27:02Speaker 3: So it's like, because you know about P twenty two, yeah,
- 27:04Speaker 3: of course, Mountain Lion slash Cougar.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah, So like that's so rare that he was like
- 27:10Speaker 2: in La County and like sharing space with people that
- 27:13Speaker 2: close by, right, right, And so like that's the kind
- 27:15Speaker 2: of thing of like there's like mountain lions, there's.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Bobcats, bobcats, there's BlackBerry by Mumbai. Okay, yeah, I was
- 27:22Speaker 3: gonna say Dubai. That doesn't there's nothing natural happening in Dubai.
- 27:26Speaker 3: I don't think that there's any living thing other than yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 3: freaks who drive Bugatti's or yeah that's so true humiliating
- 27:33Speaker 3: but whatever. But it's still the crazy like La in
- 27:37Speaker 3: one of the like it's kind of like, what wow, Yeah,
- 27:39Speaker 3: that's reasly fascinating. What's I wonder what the big cat
- 27:42Speaker 3: and Mumbai is leopard? I love a leopard. I'd love
- 27:46Speaker 3: to see a leopard in the city. Oh my god,
- 27:48Speaker 3: I know, kind of just wandering around shopping. Yeah yeah, okay,
- 27:54Speaker 3: so mountain lions they're very rare in cities obviously.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Yeah. So it's like crazy that we're so close to
- 28:00Speaker 2: big animals like.
- 28:01Speaker 3: That, right, And I feel like I've just recently seen
- 28:04Speaker 3: on Instagram there's a new mountain lion making waves. Yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 3: does I have a name?
- 28:09Speaker 2: I don't know if it has a name yet.
- 28:11Speaker 3: And do we know why P twenty two was called that?
- 28:15Speaker 2: Something about the way they tracked him or something.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Some joyless oh honor Lisa saying yes, yeah, couldn't just
- 28:20Speaker 3: give it a name, I know, some dignity. Yeah, it's
- 28:23Speaker 3: really humiliating for that animal.
- 28:25Speaker 2: I know.
- 28:25Speaker 3: I was hopefully with this next one, I've got another
- 28:27Speaker 3: chance to give it a name.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I know. I hope he can live a fruitful life.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Now. I was on a hike recently and we got
- 28:35Speaker 3: into it like a waterfall situation. I've kind of decided
- 28:38Speaker 3: I only want to end a hike where I'm swimming
- 28:40Speaker 3: around a waterfall. But there, while we were swimming around
- 28:43Speaker 3: in this waterfall, we looked at the rock and there
- 28:47Speaker 3: were little frogs that had changed to the color of
- 28:50Speaker 3: the rock. Did you learn about this?
- 28:52Speaker 2: We didn't really talk too much about frogs because they're
- 28:58Speaker 2: in Eton Canyon. They're kind of an invasive The frogs
- 29:01Speaker 2: that are oh interesting, I'm pretty like the ones that
- 29:04Speaker 2: are closer by to like where we would do the walks,
- 29:06Speaker 2: the like nature walks, because they were like, yeah, there
- 29:11Speaker 2: was something about like the tadpoles that had been born
- 29:13Speaker 2: in that one.
- 29:13Speaker 3: But oh no, it's odd to think of a frog
- 29:17Speaker 3: being a problem.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I know. Now. I'm like, now I'm gonna be just
- 29:20Speaker 2: spinning this whole podcast touting like nature facts. I don't
- 29:23Speaker 2: exactly know, but there's.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Information like it is crazy though.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Frogs do like the noisiest ones are often ones where
- 29:29Speaker 2: you're like, I don't know if you're supposed to be here.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Oh so it's more of like a noise ordinance thing,
- 29:33Speaker 3: just like noisy neighbor complaints.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah, the neighbors.
- 29:36Speaker 3: I hate them, yeah, because I mean they're just eating bugs.
- 29:40Speaker 3: They're not attacking large mammals or anything. No, no, yeah,
- 29:45Speaker 3: I mean I suppose some are poisonous. But these these
- 29:49Speaker 3: frogs I'm going to stand up for because you know,
- 29:51Speaker 3: they were changing to the color of the rock.
- 29:53Speaker 2: I mean, they might have been meant to be there.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I can't really speak for them.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Adorable once you saw one and then suddenly they're everywhere.
- 29:58Speaker 3: They've been camouflaged all over, that's crazy. I love to
- 30:01Speaker 3: see a frog in the wild.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I loved it. And sometimes they are so small all
- 30:06Speaker 2: the best, like the size of your fingernail.
- 30:08Speaker 3: I had a little lizard that was the size of
- 30:09Speaker 3: a fingernail just down there, and I so melted. Absolutely.
- 30:13Speaker 3: I may have taken a video or a photo. I'll
- 30:15Speaker 3: try to share that, but when a lizard is the
- 30:17Speaker 3: size of a fingernail, it's crazy. What are we even
- 30:20Speaker 3: talking about?
- 30:21Speaker 2: What are we doing?
- 30:22Speaker 3: Where is it headed? What will it become? How does
- 30:25Speaker 3: it survive? That's a good question, very sweet little journey.
- 30:29Speaker 3: Those things are wrong. I know, lizard, but are you
- 30:33Speaker 3: a snake person?
- 30:35Speaker 2: I appreciate a snake.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Okay.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I had a recent encounter with what I mean in
- 30:39Speaker 2: Eaton Canyon. I'm not gonna lie. I had a recent
- 30:41Speaker 2: encounter with one where I was walking down the path
- 30:44Speaker 2: and it was a massive rattlesnake. Like I it was
- 30:49Speaker 2: actually one of those moments where I was like like
- 30:52Speaker 2: sort of an out of body like because it's like
- 30:54Speaker 2: you know when you see something and you're like is
- 30:56Speaker 2: that a snake and you're like no, no, no, that would
- 30:57Speaker 2: be crazy, Like that's way too big. This was like
- 31:00Speaker 2: I had that moment and then I was like, no,
- 31:02Speaker 2: that's a snake. And then it rattled away.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Did it rattle? It's thing? It did, but it left,
- 31:07Speaker 3: it didn't attack.
- 31:08Speaker 2: They don't really want to.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Okay, let's get into Rattle six. I'm trying to turn
- 31:12Speaker 3: this into a utility podcast where people are learning. This
- 31:15Speaker 3: is kind of we're in competition with the Daylight now.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's kind of, you know, we're just trying
- 31:18Speaker 3: to get facts. Rattlesnicks they'll screwed away from you.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not exactly. They're not super aggressive, like if
- 31:24Speaker 2: they feel like you're trying to you know, they'll defend themselves. Okay,
- 31:27Speaker 2: but they're not the kind of snake that's like chasing
- 31:29Speaker 2: you down the road, which.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Doing in the back of a motorcycle. Yeah. Oh that's interesting.
- 31:34Speaker 3: So it's more of like, oh, I'm sorry I stepped
- 31:36Speaker 3: on you, and now it's attack.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, it's like don't do that, you know, And
- 31:40Speaker 2: the rattle is really like it's warning you.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Like, hey, please, are you giving you signs?
- 31:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 31:45Speaker 3: Wow? So what am I supposed to do when I
- 31:46Speaker 3: see a rattlesnake?
- 31:48Speaker 2: Probably just give it space. I mean, they can feel
- 31:50Speaker 2: the vibrations in the ground if you coming close, so
- 31:53Speaker 2: like they're not like gonna hang around and be like
- 31:55Speaker 2: I'm gonna get you. But like like when I saw
- 31:58Speaker 2: this rattlesnake. There was someone coming up behind me who
- 32:00Speaker 2: had a little dog with her, and the dog was
- 32:02Speaker 2: kind of I think he was on a leash, but
- 32:04Speaker 2: the leash was kind of along, so he was kind
- 32:05Speaker 2: of like darting around. Oh no, and I was like, hey,
- 32:08Speaker 2: pick up your dog, probably because he's like that. The
- 32:11Speaker 2: dog is going to be the one that's going to
- 32:13Speaker 2: get nailed by the snake.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Right, I mean, speaking of venomous creatures, a bee or
- 32:17Speaker 3: hornet just flew right through.
- 32:19Speaker 2: And left us alone.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Okay, so it's okay.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Yeah, so you don't really you just have to keep
- 32:25Speaker 2: an eye out, right, keep an eye out so you're
- 32:27Speaker 2: not stepping on them. Take a listen, yeah, because they'll
- 32:30Speaker 2: spread them and this is what this one is doing.
- 32:32Speaker 2: They'll they're getting some sun too, like their sun bathing.
- 32:35Speaker 3: These sun freaks, I.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Know, they're obsessed. It's like they're it's like they're cold
- 32:38Speaker 2: blooded or something. So he was getting some sun lying
- 32:42Speaker 2: out in the middle of the path.
- 32:43Speaker 3: Okay, so that's.
- 32:44Speaker 2: When you're kind of like, that's when you would maybe
- 32:46Speaker 2: step on him because you're not looking.
- 32:48Speaker 3: Right, right. So what snakes are? Uh, Well, first of all,
- 32:50Speaker 3: if I get bit by a rattlesnake. What am I
- 32:52Speaker 3: supposed to do?
- 32:55Speaker 2: Really, they're like sucking it out? The poison out is
- 32:57Speaker 2: a miss?
- 32:58Speaker 3: Okay, that's a myth.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Interest, Yeah, is my understanding. I am brilling you on
- 33:05Speaker 2: safety information. I didn't even think about the fact that,
- 33:08Speaker 2: like obviously I knew I was gonna talk about.
- 33:11Speaker 3: The right to find out if you learned anything in.
- 33:13Speaker 2: This And it's like I swear I did, Diane, if
- 33:15Speaker 2: you're listening, you're an amazing teacher. And I'm so sorry,
- 33:18Speaker 2: and you use the ten thousand dollars I gave you
- 33:21Speaker 2: in any way you want. Yeah, I went into debt
- 33:25Speaker 2: taking this class byway, yes, but yeah, what was it?
- 33:32Speaker 2: Oh what you're supposed to do?
- 33:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder what we're supposed to do for bit
- 33:36Speaker 3: by a rental snake?
- 33:38Speaker 2: An I get to the hospital like aced, Okay, of course,
- 33:42Speaker 2: I mean that's not information, but like that's what There's
- 33:46Speaker 2: nothing else we can do?
- 33:46Speaker 3: Put mud on it? What a shame? Really, So it's
- 33:50Speaker 3: really just kind of I wonder how much time you have.
- 33:53Speaker 3: That's a thirty minutes the idea, okay, thirty minutes.
- 33:57Speaker 2: The myth part is though, like it not everybody dies
- 34:01Speaker 2: from a rattlesnake bite. Like it's like, oh, if you're
- 34:04Speaker 2: like a baby or if you're a dog, okay, that's
- 34:07Speaker 2: gonna be rough. But like a full grown adult, you're like,
- 34:11Speaker 2: it's scary, Like you should get to a hospital, right,
- 34:13Speaker 2: like you're probably gonna be okay. Wow, is it taking
- 34:17Speaker 2: like forever together?
- 34:18Speaker 3: Okay? Right? Like days?
- 34:20Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 34:21Speaker 3: Hours?
- 34:21Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 34:22Speaker 3: Wow. So don't let your baby crawl through the forest.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Yeah, don't let your baby call through the forest. If
- 34:27Speaker 2: you got a little dog, just watch it, watch it, right,
- 34:30Speaker 2: because like the person when when I saw this person,
- 34:32Speaker 2: I was like, you should pick up your jack Russell
- 34:34Speaker 2: terrier or whatever. She was like, oh, thank you for
- 34:36Speaker 2: telling me, because like he would try to fight the snake.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Oh you know, like dogs are going to run up
- 34:40Speaker 2: and be like a toy.
- 34:43Speaker 3: I had. My friend's dog got stung by a what
- 34:47Speaker 3: are those the bees? The killer bees like African killer bees.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 34:52Speaker 3: And she was a tiny little lady. She got uh
- 34:54Speaker 3: so she was like in a coma for a minute.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Oh but survived. But yeah, dogs love to get into
- 34:59Speaker 3: these poisonous situations.
- 35:01Speaker 2: They do stupid.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Now, Okay, so we're trying to figure out what you
- 35:06Speaker 3: actually learned in this class.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, are you like impressed at all?
- 35:09Speaker 3: I'm like mild, I feel like this is information that
- 35:12Speaker 3: you probably could have just like totally listen to. That's
- 35:15Speaker 3: absolute shrieking. That's happening. Must be a rattle just biting
- 35:20Speaker 3: kids all over ground, one after another. We're getting back
- 35:26Speaker 3: to these rocks.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Yeah, the rocks. I'm gonna go ahead and say, that's
- 35:29Speaker 2: maybe the thing I know least about.
- 35:34Speaker 3: I don't even know how to is this igneous igneous
- 35:39Speaker 3: and metamorphic rocks? What's the difference is? Can I guess
- 35:43Speaker 3: it's a metamorphic like from a lava? No? I mean.
- 35:49Speaker 2: There's a little bit of a cheat sheet on the back.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Okay the rocks, Yeah, primarily two times does that exact
- 36:00Speaker 3: quarts and horn Blentz does the listener liking this igneous rocks? Okay,
- 36:04Speaker 3: but it doesn't really tell you that, like what the
- 36:07Speaker 3: differences between these two rocks other than like it does
- 36:10Speaker 3: describe different ones. Like if I were to tell you
- 36:12Speaker 3: ask you what's a Wilson quartz d rite, which, yeah,
- 36:16Speaker 3: would you be able to tell me that it has
- 36:17Speaker 3: a grant like texture in the ground mineral is whitish
- 36:19Speaker 3: with small black crystals that ever across the learning the curriculum.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's like, here's what I'll say about
- 36:27Speaker 2: the structure of the class. It was there was a
- 36:30Speaker 2: lot of lecture, okay, and I loved everyone that came
- 36:34Speaker 2: in and lectured about their specific topic. Amazing. It was
- 36:37Speaker 2: also kind of the vibe of, like, you know, again
- 36:41Speaker 2: some older people that sometimes the people speaking maybe a
- 36:44Speaker 2: lot of their lecture would be taken up by like
- 36:46Speaker 2: setting up the PowerPoint. Oh interesting, saying there would be yes,
- 36:50Speaker 2: information given, but like it wasn't maybe people's strongest platform
- 36:54Speaker 2: in which to be giving said information, right, Like I
- 36:57Speaker 2: was getting more from like like I we'd be going
- 36:59Speaker 2: on the walks, I'd be talking one on one with
- 37:00Speaker 2: someone about something.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Okay, and that's where you're learning.
- 37:03Speaker 2: I also, it's been a while since I've been a student.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Mm hmm. This is me just like defending myself giving discammers.
- 37:09Speaker 2: It's been a while since I've been a student, so
- 37:11Speaker 2: I historically I'm not that I don't take information the
- 37:15Speaker 2: best when I'm sort of sitting down and just like listening.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Just kind of a dry lecture on rocks that makes sense.
- 37:22Speaker 2: But there were some things that like really stuck out
- 37:24Speaker 2: to Like I am just more interested in like animals
- 37:27Speaker 2: and things like that.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Okay, right, rocks are hard to get excited about. Yeah,
- 37:32Speaker 3: I mean, of course there are people out there who
- 37:35Speaker 3: love rocks. They have the rocks tumblers. Yeah, they're touching rocks,
- 37:39Speaker 3: they're looking at them.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Yeah. And I have heard people in my life like
- 37:43Speaker 2: actually talk about rocks and I'm like, well, that's interesting,
- 37:45Speaker 2: Like you are so excited about that. That sounds interesting.
- 37:48Speaker 3: That's the best. I don't care what the topic is.
- 37:50Speaker 3: If the person's excited to be talking.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Oh my god, then it's like that what I mean?
- 37:54Speaker 3: Anything? Right? How does that feel?
- 37:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's amazing.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Well I should at least name the different things on here,
- 38:03Speaker 3: at least try. There's a granite pegmatite, a low grand diorite,
- 38:10Speaker 3: Wilson quartz diorite. Of course. Oh, I should be looking
- 38:13Speaker 3: at them and describing them. That's more exciting. A horn
- 38:15Speaker 3: blend gabbro, which is kind of a black and white specked,
- 38:20Speaker 3: a muscavite mica schist, which is more of a like
- 38:24Speaker 3: a gorgeous coppery with a white. That's probably the most
- 38:28Speaker 3: appealing rock on this page. There's a milky quartz, and
- 38:32Speaker 3: then there's a nice g N E I S S
- 38:35Speaker 3: which is kind of a granite rock. And then the
- 38:39Speaker 3: probably second favorite on here for me is the biotite
- 38:41Speaker 3: mica schist Oh wow, yeah or schist or botit mica sheast.
- 38:46Speaker 3: I don't know. It's Look how gorgeous this is. It's
- 38:49Speaker 3: a kind of a shimmering black onyx kind of volcanic.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I would say, I.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Would say volcanic as well. And you know it now
- 38:57Speaker 2: that you say that, I do think that is really
- 39:00Speaker 2: related to what the metamorphic is.
- 39:02Speaker 3: It is kind of a lava. I mean, am I
- 39:06Speaker 3: just thinking magma and I'm mad jumping to metamorphic?
- 39:08Speaker 2: Maybe I'm really excited to see, like how many like
- 39:14Speaker 2: what the Venn diagram is of Like people who listen
- 39:15Speaker 2: to the podcasts we are experts on ross always gonna
- 39:19Speaker 2: they're gonna have a lot to say about that.
- 39:22Speaker 3: It's always interesting to see somebody who yeah, and also
- 39:25Speaker 3: who's like listening to a podcast about someone who's talking
- 39:27Speaker 3: about the secret lives and Mormon wives and has a
- 39:30Speaker 3: decent knowledge of the Earth's minerals. People are dynamic. They're layers.
- 39:36Speaker 3: They are as layered as our planet.
- 39:38Speaker 2: They're as layered as well. These pieces of.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Rock as the horn Blend gabro. Yeah. Well, well, I'm
- 39:45Speaker 3: really excited to have this. It's very stylish. I feel
- 39:47Speaker 3: like it's really classy looking.
- 39:48Speaker 2: It's kind of cool. Yeah.
- 39:49Speaker 3: The font is good. Yeah. Oh, it was two dollars
- 39:53Speaker 3: I pay for this.
- 39:53Speaker 2: He did not pay for it.
- 39:54Speaker 3: So someone paid two dollars, probably in nineteen seventy eight.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, so I do think these gluede on there
- 40:01Speaker 2: before I was borne.
- 40:03Speaker 3: Formation of the Earth. Yes, was kind of the We
- 40:06Speaker 3: had the Big Bang and then suddenly people were going
- 40:08Speaker 3: crazy with a glue gun, right, just putting rocks on
- 40:11Speaker 3: sheets for learning. Yeah. Okay, well, I think it's time
- 40:15Speaker 3: to play a game. Okay, We're gonna play a game
- 40:17Speaker 3: called Gift or a Curse. I need a number between
- 40:20Speaker 3: one and ten from you.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Five.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Okay. I have to do some like calculating right now
- 40:25Speaker 3: to get our game pieces. So right now, you can recommend,
- 40:29Speaker 3: you can promote, you can talk more on the subjects
- 40:32Speaker 3: of eating canyon, whatever you feel like. I'll be right back.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Okay, let's see, I'm gonna be in Portland, Oregon doing
- 40:40Speaker 2: my solo live show August thirty. First. That's about it
- 40:46Speaker 2: for me. I don't really have much else going on.
- 40:49Speaker 2: I'm so excited to be on this podcast.
- 40:52Speaker 3: Do you have anything to recommend? What have you enjoyed recently?
- 40:54Speaker 2: Mm? Okay. I'm currently reading Orlando by virgin Oh and
- 41:01Speaker 2: I don't know if I know I'm late to the
- 41:04Speaker 2: game sort of many regards, but I don't like. This
- 41:08Speaker 2: book is blowing my mind.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I've never read Virginia wolf I've obviously, like I studied
- 41:12Speaker 3: a little bit about her in college, but never not
- 41:15Speaker 3: even to the Lighthouse.
- 41:16Speaker 2: She is okay, I would recommend to the Lighthouse. She
- 41:20Speaker 2: is one of those writers that like you're like, oh,
- 41:21Speaker 2: for Daniel wolf everyone talks about and then you read
- 41:24Speaker 2: her and you're like, Okay, this is this is pretty awesome.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Like Orlando is like a queer trans It's about Virginia
- 41:33Speaker 2: Wolfe's friend who was a sort of like androgynist lesbian
- 41:38Speaker 2: that she became bessies with and later a romance published
- 41:44Speaker 2: letters between them. But she wrote this book about this person, Vita,
- 41:48Speaker 2: and so Orlando is about. It starts out as like
- 41:53Speaker 2: about a teenage boy who one day goes to sleep,
- 41:57Speaker 2: wakes up as a woman, spens a woman, and it's
- 42:00Speaker 2: written in this crazy way, like it's like the writing
- 42:03Speaker 2: is awesome and you're reading it and you're like, what.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Year did this?
- 42:06Speaker 2: God, this is crazy. And so it's like about this
- 42:09Speaker 2: person that you had this romance with, right, and so
- 42:13Speaker 2: it's blowing my mind lovely. I know my friend told
- 42:15Speaker 2: me about it. I was like, you're making that up,
- 42:16Speaker 2: no way. Virginia Wolf wrote that you're crazy.
- 42:19Speaker 3: It is interesting, like when you go back to old
- 42:21Speaker 3: art that like has been pushed into the shadows or
- 42:24Speaker 3: whatever because of its content, and then you read it
- 42:26Speaker 3: and it's like, oh, this feels so unbelievably contemporary because
- 42:29Speaker 3: that people were uncomfortable with the ideas at the time.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Totally so, but then you read it, it feels like, oh,
- 42:34Speaker 3: this could have been published within the last you know,
- 42:37Speaker 3: little while one.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Hundred and like no doubt, Like, I mean, Orlando is
- 42:41Speaker 2: kind of an extreme one, but I'm sure that there
- 42:42Speaker 2: are like English teachers who have been like teaching this
- 42:45Speaker 2: book and are like it's not gay, like and definitely
- 42:49Speaker 2: it's a normal, normal book.
- 42:52Speaker 3: If you take anything away from Orlando it's just a
- 42:55Speaker 3: nice friendship. It's fantasy. I can tell you that much. Okay,
- 43:02Speaker 3: that's a great recommendation.
- 43:03Speaker 2: I love a book recommendation, so I would recommend that
- 43:05Speaker 2: it's really fun.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Okay, wonderful. What am I? Oh, do you know what
- 43:10Speaker 3: I'm gonna My sister just started a business. I'm going
- 43:12Speaker 3: to promote it. I'm going to use my platform to
- 43:14Speaker 3: help a family member that she started a business. She's
- 43:17Speaker 3: a work in the nick you for a long time.
- 43:19Speaker 3: She's a nurse and started a business called love z
- 43:22Speaker 3: Baby l u V s I e Baby. And I
- 43:26Speaker 3: am not a mother or father, have no children of
- 43:28Speaker 3: my own, never will, so I can speak expertly on
- 43:31Speaker 3: this topic. Yeah, it's some sort of device or no,
- 43:34Speaker 3: it's a clothing that the baby can wear. And my
- 43:37Speaker 3: sister has a mother of three, has figured out what
- 43:40Speaker 3: you need. So I'm going to recommend that l u
- 43:42Speaker 3: V s i ebaby dot Com. What a gift to give.
- 43:45Speaker 3: I just gave some to a friend. Go look at
- 43:48Speaker 3: me supporting a family member.
- 43:49Speaker 2: You're using for for the first time ever for good? Yeah, wow,
- 43:56Speaker 2: and I'm here for it.
- 43:58Speaker 1: No.
- 43:59Speaker 3: I love my sister, so we've got to support that
- 44:01Speaker 3: that's awesome. That's the big recommendation. I hope I explained
- 44:04Speaker 3: that in some way or mysteriously enough that the listener's like, well,
- 44:08Speaker 3: I've got to get some baby clothes.
- 44:09Speaker 2: I'm interested. I mean, it's always interesting when someone who
- 44:12Speaker 2: with such experience if something is making a product for it,
- 44:16Speaker 2: because I'm like, you literally know what.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Yes, you were like, oh, I'm fed up with not
- 44:21Speaker 3: having this product. That's like the best kind of thing. Yes, yes,
- 44:25Speaker 3: I wonder what that'll be for me. What's my big invention?
- 44:27Speaker 2: Hmmm?
- 44:28Speaker 3: Oh god, hm, dentist open on Sundays. Oh yeah, it's
- 44:34Speaker 3: not a bad idea. No, that's just basically a dentist.
- 44:38Speaker 3: But it's open on Sunday.
- 44:40Speaker 2: It could be called Sunday Dentists.
- 44:43Speaker 3: That feels like something that could happen. That's within the
- 44:45Speaker 3: realm of possibility. We've got to get into the game.
- 44:48Speaker 3: My God, gift or a curse. I'm gonna name three things.
- 44:52Speaker 3: You're gonna tell me if there are a gift or
- 44:54Speaker 3: a curse and why, and then I'll tell you if
- 44:56Speaker 3: you're right or wrong, because there are correct answers. Trans
- 44:59Speaker 3: lightly be careful. Oh number one, this is from a
- 45:03Speaker 3: listener named Emma Lake, gift or a curse electrical outlets
- 45:07Speaker 3: with USB ports in them.
- 45:10Speaker 2: I'm gonna say curse, and I'm gonna say curse because
- 45:15Speaker 2: lately the Apple or I don't know who's controlling this,
- 45:20Speaker 2: they're phasing out USB ports. That one time it was
- 45:23Speaker 2: like the thing you needed for everything. And now I
- 45:27Speaker 2: get a phone charger and it's got the other kind
- 45:29Speaker 2: in it.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Uh, maybe it's called the lightning no USBC, Yes that one.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Okay, So does that still count about what we're talking about,
- 45:38Speaker 2: because I'm thinking the USPN we're talking tradition. Yeah, yeah,
- 45:42Speaker 2: you know, it's been around for a couple decades. Like
- 45:44Speaker 2: I was just in the airport and I was stuck
- 45:46Speaker 2: there because my flight kept getting delayed, and I own
- 45:49Speaker 2: this was my fault, ultimately, but I only had the
- 45:52Speaker 2: like tiny USBC or at the end of my phone charger,
- 45:57Speaker 2: Like I didn't have the part that plugs into the wall,
- 46:00Speaker 2: and all the things around me had the wall plug
- 46:03Speaker 2: and then the big USB and I had to go
- 46:07Speaker 2: freaking buy a freaking dapter.
- 46:09Speaker 3: Oh that's my worst nightmare, buying electronics at the airport.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Oh my god, it was so stupid.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Oh and it would cost one thousand dollars.
- 46:16Speaker 2: Truly, I can't even think about it. But it was
- 46:18Speaker 2: like so I was like, oh, like in a different
- 46:21Speaker 2: moment in time, this would have been oh great, there's
- 46:23Speaker 2: a USB thing, But I'm like, it's just going to
- 46:25Speaker 2: get outdated soon.
- 46:27Speaker 3: Right, right, wrong, Okay, gift, absolutely a gift. I mean,
- 46:32Speaker 3: first of all, still mildly convenient. Second of all, their retro,
- 46:36Speaker 3: their chic, their nostalgic. We're all think we're looking at
- 46:39Speaker 3: those in ten years and thinking, well, I used to
- 46:41Speaker 3: be able to use that back when things were better,
- 46:43Speaker 3: because things will get worse, yeah, yeah, as they continue
- 46:47Speaker 3: to just slide downhill. Yeah, but we'll be in the airport,
- 46:50Speaker 3: we'll be looking at the USB port and thinking life
- 46:54Speaker 3: was so much simpler when I had the clunky, square
- 46:57Speaker 3: shaped USB, and you'll be able to just kind of
- 47:01Speaker 3: lose yourself at the airport or in a hotel room.
- 47:06Speaker 2: So you're saying I should have had a better attitude.
- 47:08Speaker 2: You should have I should have looked at that and
- 47:10Speaker 2: said I miss that happily.
- 47:15Speaker 3: Yes, exactly exactly. We've got to appreciate them while they're
- 47:19Speaker 3: being phased out. And then appreciate them after when they're
- 47:22Speaker 3: obsolete and kind of taking up space that could be
- 47:25Speaker 3: used in better ways. Okay, why are we changing the
- 47:28Speaker 3: thing constantly? I don't doesn't it don't feel like it
- 47:31Speaker 3: does a better job.
- 47:32Speaker 2: Oh, it's taking our money.
- 47:34Speaker 3: It's just it feels like it charges about the same.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Why did they take the CD poor out of laptops?
- 47:41Speaker 3: They're going nuts? Well, I will say, I finally got
- 47:44Speaker 3: a new laptop and this has what's called the mag safe,
- 47:46Speaker 3: which is the magnet one like that. I love that
- 47:48Speaker 3: so like if it gets pulled, it doesn't like destroy
- 47:51Speaker 3: the computer.
- 47:52Speaker 2: That was a smart I know they did away with
- 47:54Speaker 2: that and they're bringing it back.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Yes, they kind of learned their lesson. I think, well
- 47:58Speaker 3: then it's nice to see.
- 47:59Speaker 2: A corporation learn a less Now I'm coveting the new thing.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Now I'm looking at it and I kind of want that.
- 48:03Speaker 3: I'm essentially driving a Ferrari.
- 48:06Speaker 2: It's driving me crazy.
- 48:08Speaker 3: The mag safe is the ultimate one. That's how it
- 48:10Speaker 3: should be for everybody. Yeah, for every port. Let's get
- 48:13Speaker 3: into that. Let's get that in places where we need them. Yeah, okay,
- 48:16Speaker 3: so you did get no point?
- 48:18Speaker 2: Okay, which so I'm losing.
- 48:20Speaker 3: The audience is upset.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Number two, This is from my listener named Anna Gift
- 48:25Speaker 3: or a curse clapping at the end of a movie.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Gift and why I know that I'm going to get
- 48:31Speaker 2: this one wrong. Gift because I don't know. You've experienced
- 48:36Speaker 2: something with the community of people that you're now bonded
- 48:38Speaker 2: to forever, and you're showing that you were all in
- 48:40Speaker 2: it together and appreciating the thing you just saw. Oh
- 48:42Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Sorry, that's a horrible night at the movie.
- 48:48Speaker 2: It's so fun. But no, you're gonna say it's weird
- 48:51Speaker 2: vibe ej.
- 48:54Speaker 3: It's a gift. You got it right. Of course, who
- 48:58Speaker 3: are we to say that not to clap at the
- 48:59Speaker 3: end of a movie. We're all erupting. We're feeling like
- 49:03Speaker 3: we're feeling renewed and ready to get back out in
- 49:06Speaker 3: life and take whatever we took from the movie. Yeah,
- 49:09Speaker 3: we're stronger because of it. We're growing together.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:13Speaker 3: I mean, if I had one complaint, okay, it's so
- 49:16Speaker 3: we would wait until the bear the credits have completely rolled,
- 49:19Speaker 3: where you've sat through fifteen minutes of credits silently, okay,
- 49:23Speaker 3: then erupt into applause.
- 49:24Speaker 2: So you're the only one left in the theater clapping
- 49:27Speaker 2: by yourself.
- 49:27Speaker 3: So what I'm yeah, basically saying is I want it
- 49:29Speaker 3: to be a solo experience and I want the theater
- 49:32Speaker 3: employees to be uneasy.
- 49:34Speaker 2: Oh right, they're yeah, they're cleaning up around you. They're like,
- 49:37Speaker 2: please please leave.
- 49:39Speaker 3: And you're standing ovation, standing up and cheering.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, No, I do think it is a nice thing,
- 49:47Speaker 2: although I do like I feel like, I mean, I'm
- 49:50Speaker 2: my best self at the movies.
- 49:51Speaker 3: Oh in what way?
- 49:53Speaker 2: I mean? I'm just so happy. Oh I love going
- 49:56Speaker 2: to the movies, and lately I've be come in AMC
- 50:00Speaker 2: a lister.
- 50:01Speaker 3: I am too. Okay, okay, so I have you know,
- 50:04Speaker 3: it has its ups and downs, and I do feel
- 50:05Speaker 3: like I'm being blackmailed. Oh yeah, totally because if you
- 50:08Speaker 3: you know, if you cancel, they say, well, you can't
- 50:10Speaker 3: sign up for another six months, which feels to me.
- 50:12Speaker 2: It's strange illegal.
- 50:13Speaker 3: It does. It's not illegal apparently, but it does seem
- 50:15Speaker 3: a little like, guys, you'll kill your family member, right.
- 50:19Speaker 2: It's kind of like, yeah, are you allowed to tell
- 50:22Speaker 2: me that I'm not supposed to do that?
- 50:23Speaker 3: Right?
- 50:24Speaker 2: I know. I had a friend that canceled and she
- 50:26Speaker 2: does regret it everything because she's trapped. Yeah, and it's like, oh,
- 50:29Speaker 2: let's go to the movies, and it's like, well, Sophie can't,
- 50:32Speaker 2: She's legally not allowed. I Yeah. So I have been
- 50:36Speaker 2: going to see just so many more movies since becoming
- 50:38Speaker 2: an a lister, and I do feel like it's opened
- 50:42Speaker 2: up this side of me that's like I'll go see
- 50:45Speaker 2: anything basically like it's free. Of course it's not.
- 50:48Speaker 3: You want to get your money's for us.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Yeah. And so even when I've seen maybe the worst
- 50:53Speaker 2: movie I've ever seen in my life, i still feel
- 50:56Speaker 2: the need to clap because I'm like because I'm just like, woo,
- 51:00Speaker 2: we did it like you like and here we are, Like,
- 51:04Speaker 2: I'm so jovial. It's crazy. What's the last movie you saw?
- 51:09Speaker 2: The last one I saw was Twisters? Oh that's that
- 51:12Speaker 2: feels like a clapping At the end.
- 51:13Speaker 3: Of the movie.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I was like, look at us, you know, sure that
- 51:16Speaker 2: was that happened.
- 51:18Speaker 3: There were the Twisters, there was the Yeah. I don't
- 51:22Speaker 3: remember that much else from it. I just remember a
- 51:24Speaker 3: lot of jarring music cues.
- 51:26Speaker 2: The music. I mean, that was awesome.
- 51:28Speaker 3: That was crazy. Oh so you haven't seen Cuckoo. No, okay,
- 51:34Speaker 3: I would love to talk to somebody about Cuckoo. I
- 51:36Speaker 3: don't really want to see Cuckoo.
- 51:37Speaker 2: That's on my list.
- 51:38Speaker 3: I will say to anyone listening, absolutely read the Wikipedia
- 51:42Speaker 3: plot summary before going to see the movie. Why. I
- 51:46Speaker 3: may have fallen asleep at some point, but there was
- 51:47Speaker 3: a point where it's like, what happened?
- 51:50Speaker 2: Confusing?
- 51:51Speaker 3: What is the goal for anyone in this movie?
- 51:54Speaker 2: Okay, so if you got confused, definitely I'm going to
- 51:56Speaker 2: be confused.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, you know. I mean we are intelligence is
- 52:01Speaker 3: the vast Gulf. I think it's just like an unbelievably
- 52:07Speaker 3: convoluted bizarre It's like it is a bizarre movie. But
- 52:12Speaker 3: then it gets a point where it's like, well, I
- 52:13Speaker 3: don't care, but get you get spooked.
- 52:16Speaker 2: Okay, there's some some frights and something bad. It sounds bad.
- 52:22Speaker 3: You'll you'll probably scream a little bit or jump. Okay,
- 52:25Speaker 3: there's a scary looking thing, so that's probably worth saying.
- 52:30Speaker 3: But just try not to care. That's what I'll say.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Okay, easy, easy, I don't care about anything.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Okay, so now you've gotten one out of two, which
- 52:42Speaker 3: is incredible.
- 52:43Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 52:43Speaker 3: This is. Finally, the third suggestion is from someone named Gibson,
- 52:48Speaker 3: and it says gift or a curse people who send
- 52:51Speaker 3: you their New York Times wordal results.
- 52:55Speaker 2: I mean, you know that's never happened to me. I
- 52:59Speaker 2: don't really know what that says about anything, but I
- 53:03Speaker 2: would say I feel like this being sent in tells
- 53:07Speaker 2: me it's a curse. Okay, right, just something about I'm like,
- 53:10Speaker 2: it sounds like you're it sounds like Gibson's annoyed. I
- 53:13Speaker 2: don't know, like maybe that's a reach, but I'm kind
- 53:15Speaker 2: of like it sounds like they're like, enough.
- 53:19Speaker 3: I'm taking this to a public may like, stop doing this.
- 53:24Speaker 3: I will humiliate you. Yeah, okay, so you've never experienced it.
- 53:28Speaker 2: Yeah, But I also feel like the vibe of, like
- 53:31Speaker 2: unprompted sending someone a score on anything you're like a
- 53:35Speaker 2: result in this way feels kind of like, I mean,
- 53:38Speaker 2: I guess what's wrong with sharing your accomplishments if you're
- 53:40Speaker 2: proud of it. I maybe we should destigmatize that. I
- 53:44Speaker 2: should destigmatize that. But I am like, it does feel
- 53:47Speaker 2: like you're forcing me to react, Like you're looking for
- 53:50Speaker 2: a reaction and you want it to be.
- 53:52Speaker 3: Good job, honey, you're right. Curse okay, And for me
- 53:58Speaker 3: this is a curse because I think word's sucks. Yeah.
- 54:01Speaker 3: Have you played wordle?
- 54:02Speaker 2: I literally never have.
- 54:04Speaker 3: It's so much a guessing game. Yeah. I don't like
- 54:06Speaker 3: a guessing I need a little bit more logic. It's
- 54:09Speaker 3: basically I think it's like five letters or something. I
- 54:12Speaker 3: could guess what is the five So there's a there
- 54:15Speaker 3: is too much of an element of guessing. Yeah, I
- 54:17Speaker 3: know there's strategy involved blah blah blah, but I need
- 54:21Speaker 3: for a moment one to be able to say I
- 54:22Speaker 3: can think about this and get the answer rather than
- 54:25Speaker 3: I'm gonna give a word that has the letters that
- 54:30Speaker 3: uppear most often? Who cares?
- 54:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. And I feel like the way that
- 54:34Speaker 2: it is talked about is like a sort of sort
- 54:36Speaker 2: of like cultural like it's like, oh, I'm like, I'm
- 54:39Speaker 2: so smart if you're doing it well, Like I really
- 54:42Speaker 2: like attributing it to a certain but what you're saying
- 54:46Speaker 2: is true. It's like, I mean, is it about being smarter?
- 54:51Speaker 3: It sounds like someone's a little lucky.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I think sorry, But like I mean, which
- 54:54Speaker 2: is fine, like good to.
- 54:55Speaker 3: Be lucky if God's watching out for you.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great, but like it's not. I mean, there's
- 55:00Speaker 2: other ways to demonstrate in tellidence, you know, send me
- 55:03Speaker 2: a fact, send me a fact.
- 55:05Speaker 3: I would love for friends to just send me fact.
- 55:08Speaker 3: That's actually not a bad idea.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Yeah, just like fact sharing.
- 55:12Speaker 3: Yeah, to just suddenly get a like a surprise piece
- 55:14Speaker 3: of information.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I have my friends and I At
- 55:18Speaker 2: one point we're doing the like a PowerPoint thing where
- 55:22Speaker 2: we were like giving each other presentations on PowerPoint.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Oh, this is great.
- 55:27Speaker 2: About a subject, which I think. I'm like, okay, wait,
- 55:29Speaker 2: I should do that again. That's so fun. But it
- 55:31Speaker 2: is kind of like, okay, what do you know a
- 55:33Speaker 2: lot about right now? It's like you have the floor,
- 55:36Speaker 2: like teach us something.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Do you remember what you taught about?
- 55:40Speaker 2: Okay, honestly it was about the Bachelor, but it was
- 55:45Speaker 2: this was a specific one. It was sort of Bachelor.
- 55:48Speaker 2: It was there was a bachelor tilt to it because
- 55:50Speaker 2: we were kind of like teaching each other about different Okay,
- 55:53Speaker 2: but you could do it with any subjects.
- 55:55Speaker 3: Yeah, of course. Yeah, I mean because you kind of
- 55:57Speaker 3: stopped giving reports after elementary school.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's like, come on, I mean, are we
- 56:02Speaker 2: not all lifelong learners.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Yes, we're trying. We're absolutely trying, right, and to have
- 56:06Speaker 3: the chance to give a report so fine. Oh that
- 56:09Speaker 3: sounds wonderful to me.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm trying to think. I feel like reports I
- 56:14Speaker 3: gave in elementary school were on mummies. Oh is it
- 56:17Speaker 3: the ocean?
- 56:18Speaker 2: Very cool?
- 56:20Speaker 3: Uh? That's those are the two I can remember. Oh
- 56:22Speaker 3: and I gave no. I think I did a state
- 56:25Speaker 3: report on Nevada.
- 56:27Speaker 2: Oh nice. My state was Georgia. Georgia.
- 56:29Speaker 3: Did you get to pick?
- 56:32Speaker 2: I think so, I'm like, why did I pick Georgia?
- 56:34Speaker 2: That maybe they just designed to do it.
- 56:36Speaker 3: I feel like a lot of what happened with us
- 56:38Speaker 3: picking states was people really either went for one with
- 56:42Speaker 3: Disney property, okay, or like a food that they could
- 56:46Speaker 3: like give as a sample.
- 56:48Speaker 2: Oh yeah, well, I mean freaking that's so cool, right,
- 56:52Speaker 2: Like I don't know, barbecue Memphis?
- 56:55Speaker 3: Did you give peaches?
- 56:56Speaker 2: That's not his state?
- 56:57Speaker 3: Georgia?
- 56:58Speaker 2: No A. The assignment was you actually wrote a song
- 57:03Speaker 2: about it and then you performed it at a recital.
- 57:05Speaker 2: Oh my, and I will say one of the this
- 57:08Speaker 2: was fifth grade. One of the fifth grade teachers pulled
- 57:10Speaker 2: me aside and said, your song is the best song.
- 57:13Speaker 3: Do you remember anything about it? Can you say any
- 57:15Speaker 3: of it?
- 57:16Speaker 2: It was to the tune of my Favorite Things, Like
- 57:19Speaker 2: they all like the tune of writing. Oh my god,
- 57:22Speaker 2: it's actually so embarrassing because obviously I was obsessed with
- 57:27Speaker 2: like the fact that I was like, I don't know,
- 57:29Speaker 2: I'm not a good singer, Like I had never been
- 57:31Speaker 2: a good singer. But I was like, I sound amazing.
- 57:35Speaker 2: And of course it was like I was very like
- 57:38Speaker 2: I'm I'm political. I grew up in Portland, Oregon, so
- 57:42Speaker 2: of course I had this like also at the time,
- 57:44Speaker 2: like big ego about like being like like or like progressive,
- 57:49Speaker 2: and so then it's like this weird thing where I
- 57:51Speaker 2: was like, oh, I'm doing Georgia and like the South.
- 57:54Speaker 2: At all I know is that that is there's a
- 57:57Speaker 2: lot of complicated stuff, and it's like okay, as if
- 58:00Speaker 2: there's not in Portland, organ but whatever. And I and
- 58:04Speaker 2: so my song was like really about like racism.
- 58:08Speaker 3: Wow, a racist parent. They're not racist, but uh, pardy
- 58:12Speaker 3: about racism? Yeah, set to the tune of my Favorite Things. Yeah, wow,
- 58:16Speaker 3: I cannot imagine.
- 58:18Speaker 2: It was there was like mention of peaches. There was mention,
- 58:20Speaker 2: but it was like it was like trying to do
- 58:22Speaker 2: like a political thing, which, of course it's like all
- 58:25Speaker 2: very classical, like of course this like fifth grade teacher
- 58:27Speaker 2: in Portland was like, sweetie, you're really telling the truth here.
- 58:31Speaker 2: It's like, don't let me have that platform?
- 58:34Speaker 3: Like does video exist?
- 58:38Speaker 2: No? I don't know.
- 58:39Speaker 3: I mean, if it's an audio recording, yeah, I know,
- 58:42Speaker 3: I should record it now.
- 58:43Speaker 2: I wish. And I'm sure that if I, like, if
- 58:45Speaker 2: I brought if I reminded my parents of this, I'm
- 58:47Speaker 2: sure they would be like, honey, it was. It was
- 58:49Speaker 2: pretty amazing. Exactly what's wrong with me?
- 58:54Speaker 3: I need you get to get into the studio and
- 58:56Speaker 3: record this for people. I mean maybe that's what the
- 58:59Speaker 3: country needs right now.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Wait, you're so right.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's what we're waiting for.
- 59:04Speaker 2: Oh my god, for me to speak on the racial
- 59:07Speaker 2: dynamics and joyja exactly.
- 59:10Speaker 3: This will do only good for you.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think so.
- 59:14Speaker 3: Okay, well you got two out of three. Okay, two
- 59:16Speaker 3: out of three isn't bad. I mean you started off
- 59:18Speaker 3: on such a horrible note that I thought I would
- 59:20Speaker 3: almost just shut the game down. Yeah, I thought you're right,
- 59:24Speaker 3: kind of just getting a fight with you and then
- 59:25Speaker 3: ask you to leave. But you turn things around and
- 59:28Speaker 3: we love that. This is the final segment of the podcast.
- 59:31Speaker 3: It's called I Said No Emails. People write in I
- 59:34Speaker 3: Said No Gifts at gmail dot com and they need
- 59:38Speaker 3: answers they have. You know, people have all kinds of
- 59:41Speaker 3: things happening in their lives. They're desperate, they're begging, they're
- 59:44Speaker 3: turning to me and my guests. Let me answer a question. Absolutely, okay,
- 59:48Speaker 3: this says dear Bridger and disrespectfully beautiful guest, which is
- 59:52Speaker 3: kind of a bad boy image that you're kind of
- 59:55Speaker 3: you're always cultivating it.
- 59:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like it's really accurate.
- 59:58Speaker 3: My husband's fortieth birthday is at the end of August.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: Normally we keep adult birthdays really low key, but since
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: this is a milestone birthday, I want to do something
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: really special. Historically, my gifts to him are given a
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: lackluster acknowledgment of appreciation and generally return to the day
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: they are opened. That is aggressive, beat guys. Ok Is
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: it me? Probably? But his love language is gifts. Mine
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: is acts of service, and I do my best with
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: that being said, I am a stay at home mom
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: with no outside income, so anything bought for him is
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: bought with his paycheck. He is very frugal, so I
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: feel like his preference would be for me to not
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: buy him anything, but that doesn't sit well with me.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: My ideal gift for him would be to organize his
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: home office aka the hoarder hole. He has worked from
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: home exclusively since March twenty twenty. These two needs some rooms,
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: give him some space. He blurs his Zoom background because
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: he is embarrassed of the clutter, and even though I
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: have offered several times, he will not let me repay
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: and organize his space because I am a minimalist and
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: he believes I will throw everything away. Okay, he's probably right,
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: not one hundred percent accurate, but if it doesn't serve
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: a purpose it goes in the track, you will do. Yes,
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: you will be throwing away valuable items. Paint and shelving
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: can get expensive, especially when you're containing mass amounts of
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: an unnecessary clutter, and I don't want to go in
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: his sacred space without permission. Do I continue to badger
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: him about the office. Do I get him nothing, knowing
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: that most likely would be his preference. Do I just
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: throw a pool party for family and friends. There are
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: pools coming into this equation, which could also get expensive
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: with food and decorations. Or do I just go on
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: the lamb and return in September? Please help? Sinceriust apologies
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: for the length of this email not accepted. That apology
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: is not accepted. Nicole from Kansas. Nicole's marriage is they
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: I mean, she's got to go on a vacation, She's
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: got to get away from the sky.
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: I am. I'm a little worried he's returning the gifts
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: day of Like, it's interesting that she's special. Is that
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: his love language is gift giving?
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: Is that what she said? Let's see, I want to
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: just we want to be fair to oh love languages gifts.
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: So I'm like that feels, I'm sorry, like a mismatch
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: if like the gifts aren't I don't know right, Wow.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: I mean they've been trapped in the same space since
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: March twenty twenty. Yeah, she's kind of like and he's
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: just gathering crap, Yeah, bring buying things fro himself, obviously
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: bringing them to home, blurring the background. He doesn't want
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: whoever's on that zoom to know what's happening. Yeah, so
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: he's feeling shame or he's communicating with like a secret
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: wife and doesn't want her to be aware of his
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: home life.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: Right, what is this guy?
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: Is bad news?
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but then they have a.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Pool, so it's like how bad can it be?
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: They just like all of their money into the swimming pool.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I look, it's hard because I hear
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: pool party, and that's kind of all I'm thinking about is, Wow,
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: you to have a pool party. But I'm going to
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: try to stay focused here. Yeah, I feel like, I mean,
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: it sounds like I don't want to overreach, but it
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: sounds like maybe there is some like money available, Like
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: you guys aren't super super tight on cash, just judging
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: by the pool and other things mentioned, right, So I'm
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: wondering if there's an option of like a hiring of
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: an outside person who could help with the organization of
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: the office.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: Interestingly, because I've heard of this conceptually that like sometimes
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: when people are married, the clutter or the dirtiness of
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: the home it's like brings up a lot of dynamics
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: right in the relationships. So it's like, if they have
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: access to money, like it can be nicer to have
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: to hire someone else to do it.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: Right, So you're not thinking, oh I resent.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Yeah, chuck, Right, this is something that I've heard of, right,
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: because I feel like if she's getting in there and
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: she's you know, roaring through stuff, tossing it into the dumpster, right,
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: that's going to lead to bigger problems.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: Yeah, because you know, who knows what might be used
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: for work. Yeah, and it feels like, I mean, no
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: offense in aicle, But it sounds like you're bad at
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: organizing this sort of thing. You're just throwing everything away.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: I mean, it sounds like there's some serious lapses in
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: communication in this relationship.
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: She's turned to a podcast host. Yeah, the times that
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: spent here, she could have gotten a little job to
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: pay for therapy. Right.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Okay, this would be my other suggestion for going way
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: back to suggest a piece of media for people. The
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: show Couples Therapy. Oh is changing my life?
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: Ah, I mean, let's just prepare for another hour of
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: the poducty.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Like, oh my god, literally the most perfect woman in
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: the world.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: No, we're not moving away from four enough for a minute.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: We watched all four seasons within probably six days.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Literally, my partner and I are like, should we want
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: another episode? Is that crazy? Like we're obsessed?
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: How far into it are you?
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: So we just finished season one, halfway through season two.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: Okay, it all kind of blurs together for me, it's
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: season two.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: That's like mekl and Michael.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: Oh yo, that yeah, that's situation is it looks I
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: all over the place?
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Crazy stuff. Doesn't it make you feel so much better
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: about your relationship?
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: We would say that at the end of every episode,
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: it's like, Oh, we don't really have problems.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: You're like, wait, we literally love each other. That's crazy.
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: We're not like screaming at each other.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: And just like in hysterics, no, I know, because it's like, well,
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: we know how to talk to each other, and a
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: lot of these people literally don't know how to talk
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: to her at all. And they are and they've been
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: together for some of them a long.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: Time, years and years and years.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: So crazy. But get to have Orna, I mean, I know,
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: just so soothing she is. And then when she talks
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: to her advisor about.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Oh I love the advisor, the advisor always looks wet. Yeah, yea,
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: I see someone's dumped a bucket of water over her.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: And then they're like, Okay, let's get the shot.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: She's busy, she's she's thinking about everybody else's stuff. Her
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: pasture is always like always yeah, fall is like love, yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: I want to name the advisor. What is her name? Virginia,
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: Virginia Goldener. We need to give her credit because she
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: is amazingly maybe the star of the show.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: I mean, it's so like when the two of them
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: are talking, I'm like, oh, I want to.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: Be in that ar I'm like soaking up.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: I love the way they speak to each other, and
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: I truly feel like I'm learning something every episode.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: And to see someone like Orna, who clearly knows so
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: much still willing to learn.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: No, yeah, exactly because you're like she is, I would say,
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: by any standard, an expert in her fields. Yes, And
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: yet of course there is someone she goes to with questions.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: There's always somebody who knows a little bit more.
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: As we all should be willing to do is admit
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: I don't know the.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Answer to this right now. There's there's one thing I
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: will say about the entire show that about once a season,
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: I'll have to thought, well, what if she's a bad therapist.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: I've never seen a couple's therapies. Yeah, maybe this is
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: just like baseline.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: I know, but I will say I've seen a regular,
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: regular therapist, right, and definitely like she is better than.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: A lot of the Yeah, I mean.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: What's also then you kind of have to do the
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: thing of like these people are being there is a
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: camera in the room.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: Yes, which always well not in the room apparently through
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: two way mirrors. No way. Yes, I think there's like
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: a whole construct that's like man that tries I mean,
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: but they're obviously aware there.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Okay, but that does make me feel better because I
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: was picturing like a camera guy like it's like.
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: Well, can we get that again?
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: Yeah, say that line one more time?
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Yeah, which would be crazy, but also you know what
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I mean, but it is.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: So beautifully shot. Intimately why I.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: Want to be in her office. I'm like, her dog
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: comes in. I'm like, oh this guy again.
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: You know, Nicole from Kansas, can we recommend? I think
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: what Nicole from Kansas needs to do is sign herself
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: and ungrateful husband up for a seven day trial of
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: Paramount Plus yeah free, yeah, and then binge this show together.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: It Like, genuinely I think it could be a nice, like, oh, like,
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: let's watch this show, Like you're not saying, let's go
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: to couples therapy right, which, by the way, once you know,
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: I do think that's also a very normal thing to do.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: People say, do it before the problems? Yes, but yeah harmful.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: Oh I heard about this show. We could watch it,
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: you know, right, that's perfect. See what it brings out.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: I will say when I've recommended a couple of therapy
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: tes certain friends who are in a relationship, you get
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: a real sense of what might be happening in their
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: relationship by the way they accept the recommendation to the show,
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: like oh no, I oh no, now I know something
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: about the two of you.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I know totally. They're like, oh, I don't
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: know if we would. I don't know, but I do
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: you think that would be fun for us to watch her?
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: You're like, I'm gonna go, Nicole, Okay, here's the final
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: This is the gift pool party with one of those
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: floating movie screens. Yes, projecting Apples therapy with your free
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: trial to Paramount plus Bliss. The whole family watching Couple's Therapy.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: It's all unfolding. Problems will arise, problems will be solved. Ye, yeah,
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: a fortieth to remember a fortieth. I mean, he'll try
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: to forget col if I ever hear from you again.
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: I mean it's I will shut down my inbox. Just
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: back off. Oh J. The journey we've been through here
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: are I mean, I mean it's just been a journey
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: of a lifetime.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: We covered everything.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: We covered I mean the basically the formation of the planet,
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: all the way up to Orna.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Oh my god, it was at the top the peak
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: of evolution.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: Is kind of a guy, a mother figure. So maybe
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: she's kind of the bookend to Earth. That makes sense
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: to me.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: I stand by that completely. Orna reach out, Oh my
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: god or not. If you're listening, you've changed my life.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: I think about you a lot.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: I don't just think about I feel you're just flowing
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: through my.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: Blood, like genuinely, it's like haha. But also like I lately,
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: when I've been like in conversation with someone, I'm listening,
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: I'm thinking about the way that she listens. I'm like,
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: how do I kind of channel that?
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: It's so amazing, so amazing. She's so expressive, Yes, incredible
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: human being.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: EJ.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: I'm so thankful to have these rocks God, I'm so good.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna be able to display them. I will not
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: be able to teach a thing about them, but that's fine.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: Don't need it.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: Listener, look for EJ as a Docentaton Canyon. Yeah, also
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: look up EJ online Instagram. This sort of thing. I
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: feel like it didn't quite get into self promotion in
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: a way that I would have encouraged, that I would
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: have appreciated. So, you know, Instagram, you're probably on other things.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Yeah, and I have a TikTok Okay, I am on Twitter.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: That one's weirder that one's graveyard.
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Graveyard don't yeah, actually erase that.
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: It's kind of like wandering through a tomb like spiderwebs.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Oh god, it's really upsetting.
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I heard somebody sincerely refer to it as
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: X the other day giving that Twitter always. Yeah, okay, this,
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: thank you for being here.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: I've had a wonderful time for having me. This was epic.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Listener, the podcast is over. Maybe look up some of
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: those rocks and try to teach yourself something. That's the
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: utility of this podcast. We spark an interest and then
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: you learn on your own. So we're companions rather than
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: I'm not just the teacher. We're basically on the same level.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: So that's why we are a better podcast than the Daily.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: This is the end of the show. I love you goodbye.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: I said, No Gifts is an exactly right production. It's
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: produced by our dear friend on Aalise Nilson, and it's beautifully
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: mixed by Ben Talla and we couldn't do it without
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: our guest booker, Patrick Coottner. The theme song, of course,
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: could only come from miracle worker Amy Mann. You must
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: follow the show on Instagram at I said no Gifts,
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: I don't want to hear any excuses. That's where you
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: get to see pictures of all these gorgeous gifts I'm getting,
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: And don't you want to see pictures of the gifts?
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: And I invited you hear found a man myself perfectly clear.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: When you're a guest to me, you gotta come to
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: me empty. And I said, no, guests, your presences presence
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: enough and I already too much stuff, So how do
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: you dare to survey me
