Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm doing it right now.
• 0:56
Speaker 2: What do you want to do?
• 0:58
Speaker 1: Well, we start with one.
• 0:59
  Speaker 1: How's that?
• 0:59
Speaker 1: Let's see if I can pull that puppy up.
• 1:01
Speaker 1: Okay, are you ready?
• 1:03
Speaker 1: So, john, you know, started this John's a.
• 1:12
Speaker 1: He was 18 years of age in 1970.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: So he's got a special place in his heart for 70 model cars.
• 1:17
Speaker 1: Okay, so our first car today that we're going to discuss is the 1970 Dodge Superbee in the collection.
• 1:28
Speaker 1: Is it in here today?
• 1:30
Speaker 1: I don't know, as if it is or not.
• 1:32
Speaker 1: I see a yellow car over there, but it may or may not be it.
• 1:35
Speaker 1: Anyway, it's back there.
• 1:36
Speaker 1: It's called Banana Yellow exterior with a black interior.
• 1:39
Speaker 1: This has a 440 six-pack, 440 cubic inch V8, three two-barrel carburetors and the N96, not mask, but hood scoop, just thought I'd throw that out there Torque flight, automatic transmission, power steering and AC Power front disc brakes.
• 2:04
Speaker 1: And here's the real clincher on this car it's a numbers matching, one of only 599 built.
• 2:14
  Speaker 1: That's pretty cool.
• 2:18
Speaker 1: Numbers matching one of 599.
• 2:20
  Speaker 1: So congratulations John.
• 2:21
  Speaker 1: So congratulations John.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: But I know that he put a lot of thought in his collection when he was buying all of these.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: Back in the day before this place was built, he had the collection in a barn here on the property.
• 2:34
Speaker 1: Well, this has taken place of the barn, although I understand that the barn is still in use because not all the cars are inside the hideout to make room for people, tables, chairs and that sort of stuff.
• 2:47
Speaker 1: Okay, next up on the list is the 1970 Plymouth Superbird.
• 2:55
  Speaker 2: Ooh-hoo.
• 2:57
Speaker 1: Now this one kind of changed the landscape of NASCAR, because it's got that big weird nose on the front of it and that great big sticks way above the roof line rear spoiler on it, along with plenty of power and everything.
• 3:15
Speaker 1: If you see this car in person, you go man, that's really weird looking.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: But, boy, I'll tell you what.
• 3:19
Speaker 1: It certainly got the attention of NASCAR because it won all of the races that it was in.
• 3:25
Speaker 1: It was truly amazing.
• 3:27
Speaker 1: And then they banned it.
• 3:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, they banned it.
• 3:29
Speaker 2: They tried to make some changes to accommodate it, but it didn't happen.
• 3:35
Speaker 1: And then it was kind of like the very first car that really worked on the aerodynamics of the cars and that really changed the landscape of NASCAR.
• 3:43
  Speaker 2: It did.
• 3:44
Speaker 1: The cars didn't look like that after they banned the car, clearly, but they started working about windshield rake the nose going into the wind at 200 miles an hour.
• 3:55
Speaker 1: It changed the landscape.
• 3:57
Speaker 1: And let's not forget the rear deck lid spoiler on the thing, and you know that thing's adjustable.
• 4:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, it can also sit on it.
• 4:05
Speaker 3: It holds the weight of a human.
• 4:07
  Speaker 3: Well, some humans.
• 4:09
Speaker 2: It holds the weight of a very small blonde in a bikini.
• 4:11
  Speaker 3: I've seen that.
• 4:13
  Speaker 2: I haven't seen anybody like.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: Dawn sit up there.
• 4:15
Speaker 1: It's not Mother-in-Law that must be in that bikini.
• 4:18
Speaker 2: You just didn't recognize me at the time.
• 4:20
Speaker 2: It must be a younger you it.
• 4:21
Speaker 2: It must have been younger you it was.
• 4:22
  Speaker 2: It's not mother-in-law proof.
• 4:24
Speaker 1: So here's the specs on this 440 cubic inch V8, 390 horsepower, three two-barrel carburetors, torque flight, automatic transmission, power steering, power front disc brakes Numbers matching John's, the second owner, one of only 277 440 six-pack Superbirds.
• 4:44
Speaker 1: There were a total of 1,840 Superbirds, made one for every dealership in America.
• 4:52
Speaker 1: Wow, that's how they did it.
• 4:55
Speaker 2: That was the NASCAR rule at the time.
• 4:57
Speaker 1: Well, it was the NASCAR rule that you had to build 500.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: And they decided that we're going to give one to every dealership.
• 5:02
Speaker 1: Well, I thought NASCAR told them they had to 500.
• 5:04
Speaker 1: And they decided that we're going to give one to every dealership.
• 5:05
Speaker 2: Well, I thought NASCAR told them they had to 500.
• 5:09
  Speaker 1: There's always 500 cars.
• 5:10
Speaker 1: Back in the day, that was the deal for any kind of car.
• 5:13
Speaker 1: You had to build 500 of them.
• 5:15
Speaker 1: That's why the old saying about you know, race on Sunday, sell on Monday.
• 5:18
Speaker 1: True, there you go.

• 5:33

• 9:05
Speaker 1: It is a real pain.
• 9:06
Speaker 1: I can tell you that You've got to have actually an airflow meter that you stick on top of the carburetor to see what kind of air it's pulling in and that's only the air side of it.
• 9:19
Speaker 1: Then you've got to fiddle with it to get the gasoline side.

• 11:16
Speaker 3: Well, sometimes you can't have all that and you want the vehicle, but you didn't find the car with all the numbers matching, so you've got to adapt.

• 22:25
Speaker 2: On Facebook and on the Internet you can find out more information there All right Time.
• 22:30
Speaker 1: Now I want to get some of the news stories in, and obviously the one that the elephant in the room, so to speak.
• 22:37
  Speaker 3: Oh, that's a Mopar elephant.
• 22:40
  Speaker 3: There you go.
• 22:40
  Speaker 3: Oh my God.
• 22:47
Speaker 1: The elephant in the room.
• 22:47
Speaker 1: President Donald Trump has imposed a 25% tariff on imported vehicles.
• 22:49
Speaker 1: In all likelihood, consumers will not see a 25% hike.
• 22:51
Speaker 1: That's because of complex factors, including the amount of non-US content in each vehicle, automaker calculus, dealer decision-making and loan agreements.
• 23:03
Speaker 1: Cox Automotive, for example, predicts a 2.8% year-over-year increase in wholesale vehicle prices in 2025.
• 23:10
Speaker 1: Black Book projects a 5% increase in the average transaction price this year.
• 23:16
Speaker 1: Morgan Stanley predicts the tariffs will boost the average price of a vehicle by 11% or 12%.
• 23:21
Speaker 1: So don't panic, Be calm, hang on.
• 23:25
Speaker 2: Man Be happy Crazy, Don't worry.
• 23:25
Speaker 3: The calm Hang on man.
• 23:26
Speaker 1: Be happy, are you crazy?
• 23:28
Speaker 1: Don't worry the projections recognize that the tariff is not applied to the manufacturer's suggested retail price and that the industry relies on sometimes labyrinth systems to calculate the vehicle's cost.
• 23:40
Speaker 1: The price of the vehicle is determined using a cocktail of market research, bills of materials, financial agreements, institution and other elements.
• 23:52
Speaker 1: Even more variability enters the picture in the dealership lot, where prices vary widely by region, timing, personal relationships and the way buyers settle up with the retailer a separate business from the automaker.
• 24:08
Speaker 1: Are you following all of this?
• 24:10
Speaker 1: We talked about this with our guest last week.
• 24:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it sounds like a bunch of lawyers sitting around, so automakers export vehicles from the foreign facilities and calculate the transaction value of the import.
• 24:20
Speaker 1: Us Customs and Border Protection defines the transaction value as quote the price actually paid or payable for the merchandise when sold for exportation to the United States.
• 24:32
Speaker 1: End quote Plus packing costs, commission royalties or license fees or resale proceeds that go to the seller.
• 24:41
Speaker 1: Importers have to explain the declared transaction value to the government.
• 24:46
Speaker 1: Importers have to explain the declared transaction value to the government Even if an actual sale does not take place, as in the case of foreign automakers with domestic subsidiaries.
• 24:54
Speaker 1: Companies follow rules from the Treasury to calculate the transaction value of goods going across the border.
• 25:03
Speaker 1: The rules rely on a principle that transactions be valued as if two unrelated entities were involved.
• 25:10
Speaker 1: For vehicles imported from outside of Canada and Mexico, the automakers who are the importers will be paying the government 25% of the total transaction value.
• 25:21
Speaker 1: For imports from Canada and Mexico which are captured by the United States-Mexico-Canada agreement I know you've heard about that Automakers will be given the opportunity to certify their US content and systems will be implemented such as that 25% tariff.
• 25:38
Speaker 1: It will only apply to the value of their non-US content, according to Trump's March 26th executive offer.
• 25:47
Speaker 1: Jeez, like I said last week.
• 25:50
  Speaker 1: It's not just 25%.
• 25:51
Speaker 1: You can't do it that way.
• 25:52
Speaker 1: That's why I said to you about these guesses as to how much the price of a car is going to go up 2.8%, 5%, 11% or 12%.
• 26:03
Speaker 1: Not the 25%, because cars aren't made like they used to in our era.
• 26:08
  Speaker 2: Right.
• 26:09
Speaker 1: All of this stuff wasn't produced here in the United States.
• 26:12
Speaker 1: Even cars that are actually assembled here in the United States, they get glass.
• 26:17
  Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 26:20
Speaker 1: It's really just assemblies.
• 26:21
  Speaker 1: That's correct.
• 26:22
Speaker 1: Actually, there's only one.
• 26:25
Speaker 1: The Toyota Corolla which I'm driving out there is built in Mississippi and the panels the body panels are actually stamped at that assembly facility.
• 26:37
Speaker 1: That's the only one that I know of, because usually the body panels are stamped somewhere else and then they get sent to the assembler, a different kind of factory to do all that.
• 26:49
Speaker 1: It's a bizarre labyrinth of stuff that you just never know really what's going on.
• 26:54
Speaker 1: I've got more of this to tell you about.
• 26:57
Speaker 1: Automotive News put that together and I thought that kind of really tries to explain it because it's difficult to understand.
• 27:04
Speaker 2: Well, the good news is Jeff's got a camera going on the Hemi hideout, so they've got something to look at while we talk about all this nastiness, Nastiness yes, yeah, we just wanted to.
• 27:15
Speaker 3: You know, give him a shot.
• 27:16
Speaker 1: You don't have that isolated camera that's focused in on you.
• 27:20
Speaker 3: No, we didn't bring it.
• 27:21
Speaker 3: We didn't bring it.
• 27:23
  Speaker 3: You forgot it.
• 27:23
Speaker 3: Yeah, I left it at David's house, david's house when he's using it for other things.
• 27:32
  Speaker 1: There is that.
• 27:34
Speaker 2: Let me write down what time it is, so we'll know what the FCC says.
• 27:38
Speaker 1: At least it's not the FAA.
• 27:40
  Speaker 3: That's true.
• 27:42
  Speaker 1: All right.
• 27:42
Speaker 1: I've got lots of papers here.
• 27:45
Speaker 1: Have you noticed that?
• 27:45
Speaker 3: right, I've got lots of papers here.
• 27:46
Speaker 3: Have you noticed that?
• 27:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, I've really been.
• 27:47
Speaker 3: Every week you get more and more.
• 27:49
Speaker 3: Well, I know, are you recycling or what?
• 27:50
Speaker 1: Well, no, I wanted to do the Hemi Hideout cars.
• 27:53
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 27:54
Speaker 1: And it was very stressful.
• 27:56
Speaker 1: Yeah, because I started working on this last Monday Because not all of the cars show up on the Hemi Hideout website Right.
• 28:02
Speaker 1: So Shelly had to come out here and take some pictures of the cars that are not in here today, but they're in the barn and the other barn.
• 28:11
  Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
• 28:12
  Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been a process.
• 28:13
  Speaker 1: I'm telling you.
• 28:14
