Transcript
- 0:00All right, what's up, everybody? Charlie Marlow here going live
- 0:03on the Kenny Wallace YouTube channel with some breaking
- 0:06NASCAR news. You see it there in the
- 0:09headline, Rodney Childers Inspire Motorsports parting
- 0:14ways. This is definitely a big
- 0:16surprise. We'll get right to it.
- 0:18We've had Rodney Childers with a statement and also Spire
- 0:21Motorsports, so I'll read them both for you.
- 0:24Of course, Rodney Childers, crew chief of the Justin Haley car,
- 0:28his first year with Spire after being at Stewart Haas Racing for
- 0:32all those years, most recently with Josh Berry, but before that
- 0:37with Kevin Harvick winning a championship.
- 0:39So this is about an hour ago on X Rodney Childers posted on X
- 0:45with a little heart emoji and he made a statement here, so I'll
- 0:49read it for you. Just about four paragraphs.
- 0:52Here it is from Rodney Childers on X.
- 0:55I know this is a shock, but also know that not everything works
- 0:59out perfect all the time. That's how life works.
- 1:02This was just one of those things that just wasn't working
- 1:05for either of us. I appreciate my time at Spire
- 1:08working with JH. Of course, that's Justin Haley
- 1:12and the entire Seven team. We did a lot of good that is yet
- 1:15to be seen and I wish them the best in the future.
- 1:19Also want to thank you to everyone.
- 1:22Also want to say thank you to everyone at Chevrolet, Mr. H,
- 1:25and everyone at Hendrick Motorsports for my time working
- 1:27with them. Again, it was a pleasure.
- 1:29Thank you to NASCAR, the officials and most importantly
- 1:32the fans for your support. For me.
- 1:35I'm going to take a little time focus on the important things
- 1:38like my family and friends and honestly just see what the
- 1:42racing world holds for me next. I know the man above will lead
- 1:45me in a direction that is best for me than a little heart emoji
- 1:50from RC Rodney Childers. You wonder if this is a a full
- 1:54on retirement when he says thank you to NASCAR, the officials and
- 1:58most importantly the fans for your support.
- 2:01But then again, he says for me, I'm going to take a little time,
- 2:04focus on the important things like my family and friends and
- 2:07honestly just see what the racing world holds for me next.
- 2:11So we'll see if he's it's still going to be involved in racing.
- 2:14This is just happening. Just breaking that statement
- 2:16from Rodney Childers was from about an hour ago.
- 2:20OK. And now I'll read you the
- 2:23statement from Spire Motorsports as well, because they also came
- 2:28out just this was about two hours ago.
- 2:31So from the official X account Spire Motorsports, it says a
- 2:35statement from Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson and it
- 2:40reads NASCAR is an ever evolving sport and the path to
- 2:45improvement isn't always comfortable.
- 2:47The break in the Cup Series schedule gave us a chance to
- 2:50evaluate where we are as a program.
- 2:52We took the opportunity to discuss the best paths forward
- 2:55for everyone involved and the team and Rodney agreed that it
- 3:00would be best for us to part ways.
- 3:02Rodney has worked at the highest level of our sport for 20 years
- 3:06and he knows what it takes to win championships.
- 3:08With that in mind, we collectively acknowledged
- 3:10challenges with the team dynamic.
- 3:13Having the right combination of talent is just as important as
- 3:17the results on track. As we move in a new direction,
- 3:20it is not lost on us that Rodney has been an invaluable asset to
- 3:24our organization as he will continue to be for others in
- 3:28this sport. That's the statement from Spire
- 3:31Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson.
- 3:34So there you go. I'm going to come back here and
- 3:37see a lot of comments from you guys. 170 of you watching live.
- 3:41Got some people wondering. Rodney Childers and Josh Berry.
- 3:46That's from Samuel Farish. Yeah.
- 3:48We'll see what happens in the future.
- 3:51We don't have anything right now.
- 3:52As you saw and heard from that statement from Spire, They
- 3:57figured with the break there was no Cup race for Easter, so they
- 4:01had some extra time. You have Talladega coming up.
- 4:05They felt like this was the right time to part ways right
- 4:08there. There's Samuel Farish with his
- 4:10with his Jesus in his avatar. I like that.
- 4:13That's nice. OK, so remember year one, like I
- 4:16said, with Rodney Childers and Justin Haley?
- 4:19Let's check out Justin Haley, how he was running.
- 4:23So Spire Motorsports remember had this whole revamped lineup
- 4:28and investing all these resources.
- 4:30So Justin Haley 23rd in points right now, Justin Haley the
- 4:37seven car 164 points. So he's 23rd.
- 4:42He has one top ten, one DNF, 0 laps LED, average start, 23rd,
- 4:50average finish is 20th. So actually driving a little bit
- 4:55better than his starting position.
- 4:57And then let's check out what the other Spire Motorsports
- 5:00drivers are doing. None of them doing great.
- 5:03Carson Hosovar has obviously made some noise here and there.
- 5:08Reckon some people, some good finishes.
- 5:10He's entertaining. I appreciate what he does.
- 5:12So you have Michael McDowell in 19th, the 71 car Spire as I
- 5:18mentioned, you have Justin Haley in 23rd and you have Carson
- 5:21Hosevar in 25th. So all three of the Spire cars
- 5:27not doing great essentially just right there middle of the pack
- 5:32or or even what the the the third third of drivers when
- 5:37you're talking about Justin Haley in in 23rd place again,
- 5:41Michael McDowell 19th, Justin Haley 23rd, Carson Hosevar 25th.
- 5:45So none of the Spire Motorsports drivers really performing very
- 5:50well here as we're 1/4 of the way through the season.
- 5:53Rodney Childers, of course, crew chief and Kevin Harvick to all
- 5:57those wins in the championship. He's been a crew chief for 20
- 6:00years and worked with Josh Berry last year.
- 6:04He's 48 years old. So let me let me double check
- 6:07that. Rodney Childers obviously a
- 6:09racer before being a crew chief. Yeah, 48 years old.
- 6:13He will turn 49 here. Feels pretty young to retire
- 6:18from racing. We'll see what happens next
- 6:19year. Both Spire and Rodney Childers
- 6:22agreeing it wasn't working with Justin Haley and they're just
- 6:24going to say, hey, let's not even finish out the season.
- 6:26Heck, we're 1/4 of the way through.
- 6:28They're already parting ways. So we'll see what happens for
- 6:31Rodney Childers and his future. Got 188 of you watching.
- 6:37I appreciate that. Charles D saying hello Charlie
- 6:42and all. Hello Charles.
- 6:45Let's see, Happy Carl says. Happy Carl says knew it from day
- 6:51one that Rodney Childers wasn't going to fit at Spire.
- 6:54Now why did you know that? Steven Harvey asking me what
- 6:58happened? For those just joining Rodney
- 7:01Childers, the crew chief of the Justin Haley car #7 parting ways
- 7:07with Spire Motorsports right here early part of the season.
- 7:11They used the extended break with no Cup race for Easter
- 7:13before Talladega to announce the news.
- 7:17If you're just joining us, I read the statements from Rodney
- 7:19Childers and Spire Motorsports as well.
- 7:24You had a statement from Rodney Childers and then you had the
- 7:26statement from Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson.
- 7:31I'll read a few more of your comments.
- 7:34OK, so Russell Coleman says RFK racing, hint, hint.
- 7:40We shall see. Let's see, Chris Wolf says.
- 7:43Someone get Wood Brothers Penske on the horn.
- 7:47It seems like you guys want Rodney Childers going
- 7:49everywhere, all kinds of different places.
- 7:51Jonathan Wooldridge says RCR, get on the phone.
- 7:57Yeah, you got to think. You got to think that Rodney
- 8:01Childers at age 48, about to be 49, probably won't be retiring
- 8:06from NASCAR. We'll see what happens if he's
- 8:08back next year. Crew chiefing somebody else,
- 8:11Let's see. And Charles D says, to be honest
- 8:16I don't know who all is talking about lol.
- 8:18I'm just a Wallace channel fan. Well thank you.
- 8:20This is the Kenny Wallace YouTube channel.
- 8:23I'm Charlie Marlowe. I produce the channel with
- 8:26Kenny. By the way, Herman Schrader just
- 8:28dropped so that's on Dirty MO Media podcast and it's on here.
- 8:33The Kenny Wallace YouTube channel just uploaded at 2
- 8:36Central. So 25 minutes ago, we'll have
- 8:38Ward Burton, Kenny conversation coming up in the next couple
- 8:42days that will hit Dirty MO Media podcast tomorrow morning
- 8:46about 5:00 AM Eastern Time. And then I'll hit YouTube either
- 8:52tomorrow or Friday. We'll see about that.
- 8:54So everybody's saying he's going to RFK.
- 8:58That's Chris Sargent. Has that news already broke?
- 9:02Have we seen that? Let's see, everybody's saying
- 9:04maybe, maybe RFK for Brad K from John Forster.
- 9:09Tell you what, I always say this, I'm not going to go super
- 9:13long on this. I promise you I'm not.
- 9:15Let me just go to X real quick, real quick and see if there's
- 9:20any new updates on this before I let you go.
- 9:24But Rodney Childers Inspire Motorsports parting ways just
- 9:28nine races into the season, both making statements.
- 9:32He's the crew chief for the Justin Haley car.
- 9:37Yeah, Jeff Block writing the article says a shocking move.
- 9:42That's actually from Jordan Bianchi from The Athletic.
- 9:46Let's see, Matt Weaver, our guy who contributes on the channel.
- 9:49I've also independently confirmed the departure of
- 9:51Rodney Childers from Spartan Motorsports.
- 9:53No reason made public yet, but expect an official announcement
- 9:57today at some point. But again, that was a couple
- 9:59hours ago. They have both released
- 10:00statements since then, somebody joking around and there's a
- 10:05picture of Jimmie Johnson and Chad Canalis and it says Kyle
- 10:08Busch and Rodney Childers at 2311 racing next year.
- 10:13That's a joke, obviously, or they're just speculating.
- 10:16That's that's not any breaking news or anything like that.
- 10:19So somebody else basically Jose Pedro saying what's going on
- 10:23with the Spire team, the 17 the last few months fired Corey
- 10:26Lajoie. Justin Haley rejoins the team,
- 10:29the seven car chief to the JGR 54, the seven pit crew to
- 10:35Hendricks 5, Rodney Childers out at Spire.
- 10:39Just a crazy story for Justin Haley and the seven card and
- 10:42Ronnie Childers mutually agreeing to part ways.
- 10:47That's what we're calling it, mutually agreeing.
- 10:49And again, I already I read you the statements.
- 10:53Stephen Harvey says he's going to Hendrick Motorsports.
- 10:56We shall see. There's going to be a lot of
- 10:58teams that want the services of of Rodney and Childers and and
- 11:02about to be 49 years old. I do not think he's going to be
- 11:05retiring anytime soon. I'm sure we'll see him back.
- 11:08Robbie Holcomb says. I'm saying Rodney and cow Bush
- 11:12or Rodney and Chase Elliot. How about that?
- 11:16All right, I'll tell you what I always say I'm not going to go
- 11:18long. This was even longer than I
- 11:20thought it was going to be. But Rodney Childers, 20 year
- 11:24crew chief, of course, won championship and all those races
- 11:27with Kevin Harvick was with Josh Berry, helped his career along,
- 11:31just moved to Spire with Justin Haley and he's already out after
- 11:35just nine races in the 2025 Cup season.
- 11:38Justin Haley running 23rd this season, mutually, mutually
- 11:43agreeing to part ways. And if you want more
- 11:45information, you can go back to the beginning of this video.
- 11:48I do read the statements from Rodney Childers and Jeff
- 11:51Dickerson from Spire Motorsports, but they have now
- 11:53both released statements so we'll see what happens.
- 11:57Breaking news Rodney Childers inspire Motorsports parting
- 12:01ways. Remember Herman Schrader is out
- 12:03now Dirty MO Media podcast Kenny Wallace YouTube channel Ward
- 12:06Burton coming up tomorrow Dirty MO Media Podcast Kenny Wallace

- 12:14Charles D says thank you for the update Charlie.
- 12:18Thank you Charles D you got a great name.
- 12:21I love it. All right guys, signing off.
- 12:23See you later. Have a great rest of your
- 12:25Wednesday.
