Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: I'm Teddy Mellencamp and this is Emily Simpson.
- 0:04Speaker 2: And you're listening to Popping Off. Hi, guys, welcome to
- 0:08Speaker 2: another episode of Popping Off with myself and Emily Simpson.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I'm here to tell you guys.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Wait, I didn't even get to say my own name.
- 0:17Speaker 2: No, because I'm too excited.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Okay, all right, I'll let you go for it, go
- 0:21Speaker 1: for it, listen.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Because we were so excited to move on to the
- 0:26Speaker 3: Secret Wives of Mormon Wives, I can barely even let
- 0:31Speaker 3: you say your own name.
- 0:32Speaker 1: All right, It's okay, I don't need a name, It's fine.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Okay. So before we even get started on recapping the
- 0:39Speaker 2: Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast list, Emily, could you
- 0:44Speaker 2: give us a little information on the Church of Jesus
- 0:47Speaker 2: Christ dot org article.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Okay.
- 0:49Speaker 4: First of all, let me just remind everyone because I
- 0:53Speaker 4: feel like I need to remind you that Shane is
- 0:56Speaker 4: an active member of the LDS Church, but I am not,
- 1:00Speaker 4: So I just want to put that out there because
- 1:02Speaker 4: I feel like people get confused about that. Secondly, I
- 1:05Speaker 4: asked Shane, what is the church's stance on these reality
- 1:09Speaker 4: shows that have come out like Salt Lake City Talking
- 1:12Speaker 4: about the Mormon religion and now this reality show which
- 1:16Speaker 4: actually puts the word Mormon wives into the title, So
- 1:22Speaker 4: he looked it up for me, and the LDIS Church
- 1:24Speaker 4: actually did issue a statement and it's actually longer than this,
- 1:27Speaker 4: but this is just a little breakdown of it. It
- 1:30Speaker 4: says the Church of Jesus Christ the Latter day Saints,
- 1:32Speaker 4: like other prominent global faith communities, often finds itself the
- 1:35Speaker 4: focus of the attention of the entertainment industry. Some portrayals
- 1:40Speaker 4: are fair and accurate, but others resort to stereotypes or
- 1:43Speaker 4: gross miss representations that are in poor taste and have
- 1:46Speaker 4: real life consequences for people of faith. While this is
- 1:50Speaker 4: not new, a number of recent productions depict lifestyles and
- 1:54Speaker 4: practices blatantly inconsistent with the teachings of the church. The
- 1:59Speaker 4: true story of our faith is best seen in the
- 2:01Speaker 4: countless lives of those who strive daily to follow our Savior,
- 2:05Speaker 4: Jesus Christ. So basically, they're like, don't get your education
- 2:11Speaker 4: about LDS directly from these TV shows.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Do you think that they didn't say anything about podcasts?
- 2:18Speaker 2: So do you think that they're going to be concerned
- 2:23Speaker 2: with what we have to say? Here because this is
- 2:26Speaker 2: what the actual line says at the beginning of this
- 2:29Speaker 2: when entertainment media distorts faith.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I mean, they obviously can't control what's put out there.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I think that you and I, I mean we get
- 2:42Speaker 4: to actually watch it and pick it apart and me
- 2:45Speaker 4: being married to Shane, I think it gives the actual
- 2:48Speaker 4: perspective from both sides, like what these women are saying
- 2:51Speaker 4: and calling themselves active members, and then what someone who
- 2:54Speaker 4: actually lives the life and the lifestyle like my husband.
- 2:59Speaker 4: But he would say, And so I think it's an
- 3:02Speaker 4: interesting take that you and I get to have.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I agree, Okay, So I would say one of the
- 3:07Speaker 2: most challenging things we're going to have to really get
- 3:10Speaker 2: through as we watch the secret Lives of Mormon wives,
- 3:14Speaker 2: other than pissing off Church of Jesus Christ dot Org,
- 3:18Speaker 2: is deciphering which one of these women is who.
- 3:24Speaker 4: They do look a lot alike, especially Jesse and DEMI
- 3:29Speaker 4: are those Is that the same person?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Well, okay, so we've got on our top row, we've
- 3:35Speaker 2: got Taylor, We've got Mikayla, We've got Macy. So we've
- 3:38Speaker 2: already done an interview with Mikayla and Macy, which you
- 3:40Speaker 2: couldn't keep their names straight even in the interview in person,
- 3:46Speaker 2: Taylor I will always recognize because she is the hot
- 3:50Speaker 2: mess that I love to watch. Whitney I can keep
- 3:54Speaker 2: straight because she drives me absolutely bananas.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Well, and Whitney is very distinctive looking. She doesn't look
- 4:01Speaker 4: like the rest of them. She doesn't have like the
- 4:02Speaker 4: hair extensions, and she just she You can spot her,
- 4:07Speaker 4: you can spot her kind of all blend.
- 4:09Speaker 2: And then we've got Jesse and Demi, who could essentially
- 4:13Speaker 2: be the same person, and one of them could actually
- 4:16Speaker 2: be on Selling Sunset. It could be Krishelle Strauss. And
- 4:20Speaker 2: then we've also got Jennifer Affleck, who I really hope
- 4:25Speaker 2: you guys have put the time in to watching her
- 4:28Speaker 2: j LO video that she's now posted. So she's really
- 4:31Speaker 2: making sure to capitalize on her Affleck last name, which
- 4:36Speaker 2: is not by accident. She is somewhat related to Ben Affleck,
- 4:39Speaker 2: and she wants this all to know about it.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yep, she does.
- 4:42Speaker 4: And then this last girl, Leyla. They didn't do a
- 4:44Speaker 4: lot with her in this first episode. I didn't see
- 4:47Speaker 4: much conversation revolving around her. No confessionals with her were
- 4:50Speaker 4: the maybe a little bit.
- 4:53Speaker 2: No, there wasn't much with her. And I had to
- 4:55Speaker 2: hold myself back from watching the second episode because I
- 4:58Speaker 2: was so hooked after the first, Like, stop yourself. You
- 5:01Speaker 2: cannot because I'm a binge watcher of television and if
- 5:06Speaker 2: i like something, I'm like, I'm ready to really bring
- 5:10Speaker 2: it home.
- 5:10Speaker 1: But you had to stop yourself.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I had to stop myself. So it's really really good.
- 5:17Speaker 2: It starts out. The intro gives an explanation of mom
- 5:20Speaker 2: Talk and the sex scandal that rocked the entire community.
- 5:24Speaker 2: When Taylor Frankie Paul revealed that the couples of Mom
- 5:27Speaker 2: Talk were swinging, the entire world was talking about it.
- 5:31Speaker 2: This was also during COVID, so I mean, everybody needed
- 5:34Speaker 2: something to talk about other than COVID. The rules of
- 5:37Speaker 2: Mormonism are strict. No caffeine, no alcohol, no more than
- 5:41Speaker 2: one piercing have a child by the time you're twenty one.
- 5:45Speaker 4: I don't believe this is like written doctrine anywhere. I'm
- 5:48Speaker 4: gonna ask Shane about this, but I do know that
- 5:50Speaker 4: there are guidelines as far as no caffeine and no alcohol.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It's the whole concept of your body as a Temple.
- 5:57Speaker 4: But I don't think there's anything written anywhere that says
- 5:59Speaker 4: you have to have a child the time you're twenty one.
- 6:01Speaker 4: I feel like someone just added that that end randomly.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Like hold on, I actually I know that we're you know,
- 6:07Speaker 2: we don't have all the time in the world. But
- 6:08Speaker 2: I'm going to call somebody who is LDS at this
- 6:10Speaker 2: current moment. I'm not going to reveal her name, but
- 6:13Speaker 2: I do need to ask about this twenty one thing. Hello. Hey,
- 6:18Speaker 2: I know this is totally random. You're on air and
- 6:20Speaker 2: I'm not going to use your name, Okay, but I
- 6:25Speaker 2: have do you do I have permission to broadcast your
- 6:29Speaker 2: voice on to this podcast that I'm doing with Emily
- 6:33Speaker 2: on the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Okay, okay, great.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Is there anything in the doctrine that says that you
- 6:41Speaker 2: have to have a child by the time you're twenty one? No, okay,
- 6:46Speaker 2: definitely not true.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Never said anywhere, nothing, and it never says anything that
- 6:51Speaker 5: you can have one kid, no kid anything. It just
- 6:55Speaker 5: says multiply and repunished and find joy in your poster
- 7:00Speaker 5: so like find joying your kids, but never saying that
- 7:04Speaker 5: you have to or at a certain age or anything
- 7:08Speaker 5: like that.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Is there rules of no more than one piercing?
- 7:13Speaker 5: Now there was a rule back in the day, like
- 7:18Speaker 5: it wasn't really a rule. Our propit came out and
- 7:21Speaker 5: said that he suggested that we only had one piercing
- 7:27Speaker 5: at a time. But that's now gone away.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Okay, thank you so much. We just wanted to clear
- 7:34Speaker 2: it up because we don't want to just talk out
- 7:37Speaker 2: of our butts. We want to actually have an idea
- 7:39Speaker 2: of what we're discussing. I know the no coffee rule
- 7:41Speaker 2: from all of our visitations together.
- 7:44Speaker 4: I feel like it's the same thing. It's with the
- 7:46Speaker 4: alcohol and the caffeine. It's not written. Is that actually
- 7:49Speaker 4: written or is that that's not actual doctrine anywhere.
- 7:53Speaker 2: So Emily's question is, if your body is a temple,
- 7:56Speaker 2: is the no caffeine and no alcohol a the end
- 8:00Speaker 2: of the doctrine or is that just something that everybody
- 8:03Speaker 2: is deciding based on what's best for your body.
- 8:08Speaker 5: It's kind of based off what's the best. They don't
- 8:11Speaker 5: they don't come right out and say anything, and that's
- 8:13Speaker 5: kind of what the the no piercing thing is about
- 8:17Speaker 5: as well. Like back in the day, you know, like,
- 8:20Speaker 5: are the church has a vault, right, it's not just
- 8:23Speaker 5: like a local church. It's worldwide, so go to people
- 8:28Speaker 5: who live in other countries. Like piercing and tattoos and
- 8:31Speaker 5: things like that are expression of their their life, right,
- 8:35Speaker 5: Like you get a lot of people that have tattoos
- 8:37Speaker 5: and that.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Shows who they are and it's expression of themselves they've
- 8:41Speaker 2: gone through.
- 8:42Speaker 5: So the church has definitely gone away from that. It's
- 8:45Speaker 5: that's not how it is. And caffeine is never written
- 8:48Speaker 5: in there. They say hot drinks again, that's that's like
- 8:53Speaker 5: a gray area. I've talked to you about this a
- 8:55Speaker 5: bunch where we're like, you guys can't drink coffee, but
- 8:57Speaker 5: yet you can drink energy drinks. How does this make sense?
- 9:00Speaker 5: And it and truly that doesn't. But there's things it's
- 9:05Speaker 5: it definitely talks about being healthy all around, like keeping
- 9:11Speaker 5: your body temple. Yes, so do things that are healthy.
- 9:16Speaker 5: So it is definitely based off of like your own judgment.
- 9:20Speaker 5: So people, there's a lot of members that I know
- 9:22Speaker 5: that do drink coffee and they're incredible people, Like, that's
- 9:26Speaker 5: not they're not saying like you have to do that
- 9:29Speaker 5: to be a member of our church.
- 9:30Speaker 2: That's not. It at all. It's just saying, hey.
- 9:33Speaker 5: This is up to you. We suggest you don't overtake
- 9:36Speaker 5: this or you don't take this. It does say no alcohol.
- 9:39Speaker 5: That is one thing that it does say for sure.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Well, Matt Our producer would for sure not make it
- 9:44Speaker 2: in because he drinks at least eleven cups of coffee
- 9:46Speaker 2: a day and I don't know that it's making his
- 9:49Speaker 2: body a temple, say anti temple. Thank you so much.
- 9:56Speaker 2: We just wanted to clear that up. I will call
- 9:58Speaker 2: you when I'm off air, but thank you for We
- 10:01Speaker 2: just wanted that information straight away, bye babe. Okay, so
- 10:05Speaker 2: that does clear some things up, I think for us
- 10:08Speaker 2: in general. But an episode one, which is entitled The
- 10:13Speaker 2: Secret Book of Taylor Taylor, Frankie Paul is introduced. Mom
- 10:19Speaker 2: Talks started off with four girls, Taylor, Whitney, Macy, and Michaela.
- 10:24Speaker 2: They've been laying low since the scandal broke, but they
- 10:26Speaker 2: decided to reunite. Macey twenty seven. She has a husband
- 10:31Speaker 2: to kids, and she calls herself a bad bitch. She's
- 10:35Speaker 2: complaining about her husband never initiating sex. I've had to
- 10:38Speaker 2: scroll up to check who Macy is, even though we
- 10:41Speaker 2: interviewed her last week.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Macey would be the one I called Mikayla.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Correct because she I guess she is. I guess she's
- 10:53Speaker 2: a bad bitch. I mean, she's beautiful.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But can you call yourself a bad bitch? I feel
- 10:58Speaker 1: like other people should call you that.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I mean, it's like when people call themselves the icons
- 11:02Speaker 2: or queens.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I just feel like you can't. You can,
- 11:06Speaker 4: other people can, but I don't think you can self
- 11:09Speaker 4: proclaim that.
- 11:10Speaker 2: And honestly, Macey, I'm here to tell you, I wish
- 11:13Speaker 2: that my husband would not initiate sex as much as you.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Well, she's twenty seven, that's the difference.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I didn't really realize when I was going down this
- 11:31Speaker 2: rabbit hole that Taylor went completely rogue by outing the
- 11:37Speaker 2: soft swinging. I thought they kind of all shit was
- 11:40Speaker 2: hitting the fan, and then she just started sharing her side.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I didn't realize she just shared this the facts without
- 11:48Speaker 2: letting her other mom talkers know.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Okay, wait, I have to clarify something because this is
- 11:53Speaker 4: where I don't know if I'm confused. When you watched
- 11:58Speaker 4: the first episode and they introduced the eight women or whatever,
- 12:01Speaker 4: and they talk about mom talk and these women be
- 12:03Speaker 4: involved in it, and then they talk about the swinging scandal.
- 12:06Speaker 4: These women on this show are not part of the
- 12:09Speaker 4: swinging scandal. Is that correct? Taylor was a tailor? Well, Taylor, yes,
- 12:14Speaker 4: because she admits to it. She's the one that goes rogue.
- 12:16Speaker 4: She's the one. But all the other women that are
- 12:19Speaker 4: a focus on this particular show are not involved in it.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Right I do not actually know the answer to that question.
- 12:28Speaker 2: I think a lot of them are probably not or are.
- 12:32Speaker 4: They just denying it right now, because as far as
- 12:34Speaker 4: the first episode, it sounds to me as if none
- 12:37Speaker 4: of the other women were involved.
- 12:39Speaker 1: It was only Taylor.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I can say this. There were two blonds that might
- 12:42Speaker 2: have been sisters. Don't quote me, but originally that were
- 12:47Speaker 2: a part of mom talk that I think one was pregnant,
- 12:50Speaker 2: one wasn't. And I think that was the couple that
- 12:54Speaker 2: was fully doing it. But I find it very hard
- 12:57Speaker 2: to believe if you're in a full swinging circle that
- 13:00Speaker 2: other people aren't swinging. Like, if I'm just putting it
- 13:05Speaker 2: up me, you, Gina and Tamara all hanging out, I'm
- 13:09Speaker 2: doubting that two of you are swinging and the other
- 13:12Speaker 2: two of us are twiddling our fingers.
- 13:15Speaker 4: So you think that they just don't want to own
- 13:17Speaker 4: up to it right now. Maybe something would be revealed
- 13:20Speaker 4: later in later episodes.
- 13:22Speaker 2: I mean, they're probably twiddling something else. But I do
- 13:27Speaker 2: know that once we see Taylor, she has her new boyfriend.
- 13:32Speaker 2: She was with somebody named what was his name, Tate.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I thought she said Taint for a second, and I
- 13:38Speaker 2: was like, that's a rough name, Tate.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Uh.
- 13:43Speaker 2: So she was with Tate. That's who she had her
- 13:46Speaker 2: two kids with. Now she's with Dakota. This is a
- 13:50Speaker 2: new boyfriend they have. They have trust issues already. Taylor
- 13:55Speaker 2: can't decide if she should be single or not, considering
- 13:57Speaker 2: her divorce was finalized one month ago. Taylor, I realize
- 14:01Speaker 2: that you're now pregnant, but I could give you the
- 14:04Speaker 2: answer to that question. You should be single.
- 14:06Speaker 1: You should be single.
- 14:10Speaker 4: I like how they have trust issues when you slide
- 14:13Speaker 4: into the woman's DMS who cheated on her husband by
- 14:16Speaker 4: having a swinging scandal going on and she crossed the lines,
- 14:20Speaker 4: and then you slide into her DMS and want a dater,
- 14:22Speaker 4: But then you're you're concerned about trust, like.
- 14:26Speaker 2: But also why do you slide into somebody's DMS? That's drinking,
- 14:30Speaker 2: partying and potentially a swinger. If you're sober, it just doesn't.
- 14:36Speaker 4: And and you want someone to be faithful and not
- 14:39Speaker 4: drink like I feel like he that was the wrong
- 14:41Speaker 4: DM to slide into.
- 14:42Speaker 2: It seemed like he wants to get it in, and
- 14:45Speaker 2: it appears that he still wants to get it in
- 14:47Speaker 2: as we continue on through this episode, because we see
- 14:51Speaker 2: throughout the scenes of the upcoming episodes that other people
- 14:54Speaker 2: are sliding into his DMS. And I got to just
- 14:57Speaker 2: tell you this, not in a mean way. I wouldn't
- 14:59Speaker 2: be sliding into Dakota's DMS. No, no, thank you.
- 15:04Speaker 1: He did nothing for me.
- 15:05Speaker 2: He didn't. He's no jow no.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Maybe if he had a guitar.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Then Macy reveals that Whitney is moving back to Utah.
- 15:15Speaker 2: She was part of the og Mom Talk and liked
- 15:17Speaker 2: to be the leader of the clan.
- 15:20Speaker 4: We've got it looks like we've got two that want
- 15:23Speaker 4: to be the queen the queen Bee. So there's clearly
- 15:27Speaker 4: going to be issues in the in the in the if.
- 15:29Speaker 2: You were in the group, who would you rather be
- 15:31Speaker 2: your queen Bee, Taylor or Whitney.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Well, Taylor, I think is complete ding Dong, but I
- 15:38Speaker 4: find her entertaining. Whitney just annoys me, and I so.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Was so punishable. I don't know, I don't really know
- 15:49Speaker 2: what it is about her, Like I'm like, you bug
- 15:54Speaker 2: me so much.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I think it's just that first scene and
- 15:59Speaker 4: they're just they're moving back from Hawaii.
- 16:02Speaker 2: But Whitney's also the one dancing with her child in
- 16:05Speaker 2: the niic you so maybe that was Yes, that was Whitney.
- 16:11Speaker 1: That makes sense.
- 16:11Speaker 2: That's when she had the matching extensions with the other girls.
- 16:14Speaker 2: But now she has the bob cut, like you know,
- 16:16Speaker 2: when you get over your extensions and you have no hair,
- 16:19Speaker 2: so then you just cut it short. Anyway, fresh in Hawaii.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Yeah, but when they show past videos, she has dark hair.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Then when she walks into the kitchen web the house
- 16:28Speaker 4: they rented, she's platinum, and then five minutes later she
- 16:30Speaker 4: has red hair.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Well it's because they're going through a crisis. Well, anyways,
- 16:36Speaker 2: they're back in Utah. We're in the mom content house
- 16:41Speaker 2: where the moms are filming a new dancing video. But
- 16:43Speaker 2: Tailor isn't there, and clearly neither of the two sisters
- 16:46Speaker 2: that were originally involved in the swinging situation. I don't
- 16:50Speaker 2: know if they were actually involved, but they were two
- 16:52Speaker 2: of my favorites. I don't know why they're not on
- 16:54Speaker 2: the show. Maybe they're more active members and they don't
- 16:57Speaker 2: want to piss off the church. But when Taylor goes
- 17:01Speaker 2: to her mom's house, she starts breaking the news that
- 17:04Speaker 2: she has a new boyfriend. Taylor's mom is openly against
- 17:09Speaker 2: her dating in Dakota. She commented a red flag emoji.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I love a mom like this, you know what I
- 17:14Speaker 2: really do? She commented a red flag emoji on Taylor's
- 17:18Speaker 2: TikTok post that featured him. Leanne tells Taylor she's done
- 17:23Speaker 2: a lot of bad things that have made her look
- 17:25Speaker 2: extremely bad. Taylor won't speak to her church leaders because
- 17:29Speaker 2: she's scared she'll get excommunicated. I'm like, if you didn't
- 17:32Speaker 2: get excommunicated for swinging, I'm pretty sure they're pretty free
- 17:38Speaker 2: going with what they're going to excommunicate.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Oh, I feel like she's probably been excommunicated. She just
- 17:42Speaker 1: doesn't know yet. She just like didn't get her mail
- 17:45Speaker 1: or something.
- 17:46Speaker 2: But also, like, what did her mom expect after the
- 17:50Speaker 2: soft swinging incident? All over mom talk?
- 17:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know, but Okay, I felt like the
- 17:57Speaker 4: conversation between her and her mom it felt weird to me.
- 18:00Speaker 1: It didn't feel like a mom daughter conversation.
- 18:03Speaker 2: No, But it's probably because her mom scares me, mostly
- 18:06Speaker 2: because she's cutting Apple's raw dog on the counter without
- 18:10Speaker 2: a without a cutting board, Like who what kind of
- 18:14Speaker 2: wild person? Like these are new countertops and you're just
- 18:18Speaker 2: going for it Like that really made me nervous.
- 18:22Speaker 4: I don't know, I just felt like I felt like
- 18:24Speaker 4: the conversation was lacking any empathy of emotion. I just
- 18:30Speaker 4: felt and maybe they've had that conversation multiple times and
- 18:33Speaker 4: then when they have to redo it for the camera,
- 18:35Speaker 4: it just comes off flat because you know they've had
- 18:37Speaker 4: this conversation. But I just was I didn't feel anything from.
- 18:42Speaker 1: It other than she's like, you're stupid. Well know what.
- 18:45Speaker 2: It kind of reminded me of And I know you
- 18:47Speaker 2: don't watch other housewife shows, which it's kind of bothersome
- 18:50Speaker 2: considering that's my living on the other side. But is
- 18:54Speaker 2: Monica and her mom, and I believe that Monica from
- 18:58Speaker 2: Salt Lake City, her mom was also LDS. But the
- 19:01Speaker 2: way that she just was like, you're stupid, You're you're dumb,
- 19:05Speaker 2: You're like, you know all of these things, but like
- 19:08Speaker 2: clearly we don't make some of our decisions in life
- 19:12Speaker 2: without things that we're emulating from our parents. Do you agree,
- 19:15Speaker 2: I mean some of the things emulating or rebelling from right,
- 19:24Speaker 2: But then we're back at I love that it's called
- 19:26Speaker 2: the mom Talk House, Like could we.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Go yes, Like, okay, let me ask a question about that.
- 19:31Speaker 4: So there's so much in this episode. I can talk
- 19:33Speaker 4: about it for hours and hours. Do they all rent
- 19:35Speaker 4: this house?
- 19:37Speaker 1: Like how don't that work?
- 19:39Speaker 2: Well? I don't know. I don't imagine houses in Utah
- 19:43Speaker 2: are like crazy expensive for rentals because I mean, every
- 19:47Speaker 2: one of the girls that I've gone to in Utah's
- 19:49Speaker 2: house they are like mansions.
- 19:51Speaker 4: I guess my point is they get together and they
- 19:53Speaker 4: all lease this house and then they share. It's like
- 19:57Speaker 4: a YouTube house, like like there they all pay he
- 20:00Speaker 4: rents for it for or you probably rent it by
- 20:02Speaker 4: the hour or something.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Do you do that? Like no, I don't, but like
- 20:06Speaker 2: the house behind me is a YouTube house. They don't
- 20:09Speaker 2: live there. They film content in the house. We only
- 20:12Speaker 2: hear from we a like that randomly on like a
- 20:15Speaker 2: Saturday from like two to six pm. There's like music
- 20:18Speaker 2: and noise and like drones and stuff like that. So
- 20:22Speaker 2: they go and film content there, but they don't live
- 20:24Speaker 2: there because they don't want all like the excess there.
- 20:27Speaker 2: But okay, the original girl, her name was Miranda. Taylor
- 20:31Speaker 2: called out Miranda on TikTok because Miranda said she was
- 20:34Speaker 2: offered the show and declined, but Taylor says, Miranda said
- 20:38Speaker 2: she'd only do the show if Taylor wasn't on it,
- 20:41Speaker 2: And well, apparently they show's Taylor, which who wouldn't have.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Right, I mean the police footage alone.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I mean, it's so good. Then we get to Jesse.
- 20:52Speaker 2: She's thirty. She's built a hair empire in Utah. Then
- 20:56Speaker 2: her billboard is jizz. That's right, it's so good. Then
- 21:05Speaker 2: we've got another mom to meet. She reveals she was
- 21:08Speaker 2: at these parties where the other couple see this is
- 21:11Speaker 2: where it gets tricky, where the other couples were swinging,
- 21:15Speaker 2: but she didn't know what was happening. Her husband, Brett,
- 21:19Speaker 2: got weird vibes from the other men.
- 21:21Speaker 4: This is where I get how do you not know
- 21:23Speaker 4: what's happening? If this whole concept of soft swinging is
- 21:27Speaker 4: your switching partners and you're doing everything but actual penetration.
- 21:33Speaker 4: How do you not know what's going on?
- 21:35Speaker 2: Well, because it's apparently very quiet to just stick it
- 21:38Speaker 2: in and not pump.
- 21:40Speaker 4: But but if you're I mean, what do you think
- 21:42Speaker 4: it's gonna hear if someone's getting a blowjob?
- 21:45Speaker 1: How do you not know?
- 21:46Speaker 2: You can't. You can't penetrate in any I thought you could.
- 21:49Speaker 1: But she I thought. She clarified later that you could
- 21:52Speaker 1: do everything.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Except No, no, absolutely not. There's nothing that no friction,
- 22:02Speaker 2: not oral sex, No, definitely not oral sex.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Then so what are they doing? They're just making out.
- 22:08Speaker 2: They're making out, and then they just stick it in
- 22:12Speaker 2: and rest it there.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And you're gonna tell me that you're at this party
- 22:15Speaker 1: you don't know what's going on.
- 22:17Speaker 2: That's my point. This just feels like bullshit. And I
- 22:20Speaker 2: feel like.
- 22:20Speaker 4: You're just walking around at a party and someone put
- 22:22Speaker 4: their penises and someone's vagina that doesn't belong to them,
- 22:25Speaker 4: and they're just standing there and you don't know what's
- 22:28Speaker 4: going on.
- 22:29Speaker 2: All of a sudden, your husband's missing with the hottest
- 22:31Speaker 2: girl in the group for hours and you're like, oh,
- 22:36Speaker 2: and then my other friend's jumping from bed to bed
- 22:38Speaker 2: to create some sort of movement. But don't know. I
- 22:42Speaker 2: don't know. I think these girls are having too many
- 22:44Speaker 2: jellow shots. They're getting wild. According to possibly, Macie may
- 22:50Speaker 2: have said this at BYU, this is like what is
- 22:54Speaker 2: kind of learned behavior?
- 22:57Speaker 1: But I feel like that.
- 22:58Speaker 4: But I feel like the soft swinging thing is just
- 23:00Speaker 4: something that someone made up by entirely different rules that
- 23:03Speaker 4: have to do with couples and not necessarily the church.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I agree. I don't think it's a church thing. I
- 23:08Speaker 2: think it's just I think.
- 23:09Speaker 4: We need Taylor to come on and we need to
- 23:11Speaker 4: ask her. I want detailed information about these soft swinging parties.
- 23:15Speaker 2: If you think I haven't already slid into Taylor's DMS
- 23:18Speaker 2: and saw a scene and she didn't respond, then you
- 23:22Speaker 2: have another thing coming, like.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Is she's ghosting you? Is she not replying to you?
- 23:27Speaker 2: I think we might have to offer cash monies for
- 23:30Speaker 2: her to be on. Then. Demi is twenty nine, her
- 23:34Speaker 2: husband is forty six. She tells everyone that Taylor was
- 23:36Speaker 2: flirting with Brett at one of these parties and she
- 23:39Speaker 2: almost lost it. According to Kendall, one of our other producers,
- 23:43Speaker 2: she says that Brett's the hottest.
- 23:49Speaker 1: H I don't know. I haven't really seen the men yet.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Oh I have other than Dakota and Whitney's husband, who
- 24:00Speaker 4: that's a whole nother conversation.
- 24:01Speaker 1: You can just save that for later.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Then we get back to Leanne's house. She's criticizing Taylor's
- 24:17Speaker 2: taste in men. We find out Dakota is a recovering
- 24:20Speaker 2: addict who almost died from a fentanyl overdose. Taylor breaks
- 24:25Speaker 2: the news that she needs to take a pregnancy test tonight.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Her mom calls her stupid. She's pissed off of the
- 24:31Speaker 2: bad decisions Taylor continues to make. She gets up and
- 24:34Speaker 2: walks away from her daughter.
- 24:39Speaker 4: Okay, do you think she really needs to take a
- 24:40Speaker 4: pregnancy test or is this a reality? So, like, I
- 24:43Speaker 4: already know I'm pregnant, but I'm going to take a test.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I think one million percent She's like already knows she's pregnant,
- 24:51Speaker 2: and we find out later what ends up happening with
- 24:53Speaker 2: the first baby. But like, I don't think she's I
- 24:57Speaker 2: don't think you're like, hmm, maybe I should take one
- 25:01Speaker 2: and kind of going from there. But I do think
- 25:05Speaker 2: that Dakota has a lot of red flags. And I
- 25:09Speaker 2: also wonder why, if you're we're just within a couple
- 25:13Speaker 2: of years, you're swinging, you're doing all these things, why
- 25:15Speaker 2: you'd want to rush into having another baby with a
- 25:18Speaker 2: sober person that recently had an overdose from fentanyl.
- 25:22Speaker 1: It doesn't sound like the best plan.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Listen, I make a lot of mistakes, but this seems
- 25:28Speaker 2: like a mistake.
- 25:29Speaker 1: It does.
- 25:30Speaker 4: It seems like a disaster about to happen. But it's
- 25:34Speaker 4: one that we're going to be watching, which is.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Why Teddy cannot wait until the next episode.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Oh my god, I can't. The fact that I couldn't
- 25:41Speaker 2: watch the second episode really upset me. Then we're back
- 25:44Speaker 2: at Jesse's house aka the mom taught Content House for
- 25:47Speaker 2: the day. Whitney is moving back today, but there's a
- 25:50Speaker 2: rumor going around that her husband was on Tinder. They
- 25:53Speaker 2: think this is why she moved to Hawaii in the
- 25:55Speaker 2: first place. Whitney may have moved to a wife for tender,
- 26:03Speaker 2: but she's definitely moving back to Salt Lake City to
- 26:07Speaker 2: be on this television show. Let's way just very clear.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I just said that to Shane. I was like, okay.
- 26:12Speaker 4: And then there's this other girl named Whitney, but apparently
- 26:14Speaker 4: she lived in Hawaii for two months, but now miraculously
- 26:16Speaker 4: she is back in.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Utah, just in time to film a reality show.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Just because she we already heard she wanted to be
- 26:23Speaker 2: the top Dog, which I don't know. We see the
- 26:26Speaker 2: conversation between Whitney and her husband. She's starting to get emotional.
- 26:34Speaker 2: She's excited. I don't know if excited, sorry, but she's
- 26:38Speaker 2: looking forward to sharing it with the group.
- 26:42Speaker 4: The tender Scandal. Yeah, okay, let me back up a
- 26:46Speaker 4: minute because I have something else to say. First of all,
- 26:47Speaker 4: when they moved into this new house and they had
- 26:50Speaker 4: a bottle of champagne, do you remember that part?
- 26:54Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 26:54Speaker 4: I do, And they were like the real estate agent
- 26:56Speaker 4: gave a champagne or whatever. This really struck me because
- 26:59Speaker 4: I am married to a man who is active LDS
- 27:01Speaker 4: and who has not drank any alcohol his entire life. Never,
- 27:05Speaker 4: never a drop of alcohol. They moved back into this
- 27:08Speaker 4: house in Utah, there's a bottle of champagne. They both
- 27:12Speaker 4: say that they've never had alcohol their entire life. Yet
- 27:17Speaker 4: there's a camera crew in the kitchen and they both
- 27:19Speaker 4: take a swig of champagne.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I mean, how.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Easily they just whatever convictions they had that they that
- 27:27Speaker 1: they lived by. How easily they just threw those out
- 27:30Speaker 1: the window the minute there's a camera crew there.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Well, I think this is a clear sign that there
- 27:35Speaker 2: might be some people on this show that are fibbing
- 27:38Speaker 2: or stretching the truth.
- 27:39Speaker 4: So you think maybe they drank and they're just pretending
- 27:43Speaker 4: like they hadn't and they're just I.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Think they all I think they grew okay. So I
- 27:47Speaker 2: think this group came together as I don't think they
- 27:51Speaker 2: were all friends originally, and I don't think they all
- 27:53Speaker 2: met in the church. They all met because they had
- 27:55Speaker 2: big followers on TikTok or whatever they wanted to capitalize
- 28:00Speaker 2: on making money, like you should go down like the
- 28:03Speaker 2: Ruby frank of it all. Like just I think there
- 28:07Speaker 2: was like a big stage of like youtubing and all
- 28:10Speaker 2: of this, and these girls took advantage of it and
- 28:12Speaker 2: then they just all kind of went buck wild. But
- 28:17Speaker 2: then we get into Whitney's car. She's moved it back
- 28:20Speaker 2: into town. They're boxes, she's thirty, She's ready to be
- 28:25Speaker 2: back with her mom taught girls. She wants before she
- 28:31Speaker 2: starts to discuss the conversation she's gonna have with the girls,
- 28:34Speaker 2: but beforehand, Whitney and Michaela are meeting Taylor for brunch.
- 28:38Speaker 2: I don't know why, why do I have empathy for Taylor?
- 28:42Speaker 4: Because well because because when Whitney and Michayla are talking, well,
- 28:47Speaker 4: first of all, they talk up a big game before
- 28:49Speaker 4: Taylor got there. They're like, oh, yeah, we're gonna I'm
- 28:52Speaker 4: gonna let her have it. Then I like when she
- 28:54Speaker 4: walks up and they're like, hey.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Girl, hey girl, you're looking hot. Now. Oh let me
- 28:59Speaker 2: feel teddy.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Oh you're the Oh my gosh, your boobs looks so good.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I love your hair.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I was like, okay, yeah, I was like, y'all are
- 29:07Speaker 2: all full of shit. But they're nervous to be reunited
- 29:11Speaker 2: with Taylor, so I'm thinking this is the first time
- 29:14Speaker 2: they've seen Taylor since all of the the mom talk
- 29:18Speaker 2: of it all. Then Whitney confronts Taylor for posting that
- 29:21Speaker 2: video and forcing her friends to no longer trust her.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Taylor doesn't think it's fair that all these moms are
- 29:26Speaker 2: coming for her, crying about the scandal ruining their lives,
- 29:29Speaker 2: and shortly after they'll post a TikTok making fun of
- 29:32Speaker 2: the situation to gain clout.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I agreed.
- 29:35Speaker 4: You can't act like you're sad about something and that
- 29:37Speaker 4: someone did you wrong when you literally took that or
- 29:41Speaker 4: changed it and threw it back out there and got
- 29:44Speaker 4: yourself more followers. So clearly you didn't have a problem
- 29:47Speaker 4: with it. I mean, you capitalized from it.
- 29:49Speaker 2: And I'm sorry. If we're gonna have problems with things,
- 29:51Speaker 2: I need to point out something that was blatantly obvious
- 29:54Speaker 2: to me. We can't brush over the fact that when
- 29:56Speaker 2: Michaela was sixteen she met Jace and he was twenty one. Yes, then,
- 30:03Speaker 2: now we're at the Whitney in Connor's house sitting down
- 30:06Speaker 2: and talk about the tender scanner. Connor breaks down talking
- 30:09Speaker 2: about what he did to Whitney. Connor talks about having
- 30:11Speaker 2: a problem, and Whitney decided she doesn't want to keep
- 30:14Speaker 2: lying about this. But then they make it seem like
- 30:16Speaker 2: it's a porn problem. So is it a porn problem
- 30:18Speaker 2: or a cheating problem, or is it tender or what
- 30:21Speaker 2: are we really working with?
- 30:22Speaker 1: Okay, I have so many questions about this. Can we
- 30:24Speaker 1: just break it down a little bit further?
- 30:26Speaker 4: First of all, she lied about it at first, right,
- 30:29Speaker 4: They made it like it was a joke, like someone
- 30:31Speaker 4: posted on Facebook and it was like a joke. It
- 30:32Speaker 4: was pictures from high school. Haha, he doesn't really have
- 30:34Speaker 4: a tender account. Then she comes clean and she's like,
- 30:37Speaker 4: he does have a tender account, and he's had a
- 30:39Speaker 4: tender account. Apparently the entire marriage is, what she said,
- 30:43Speaker 4: not just like a one time isolated event. She admits that,
- 30:47Speaker 4: like it's been basically through the whole marriage.
- 30:49Speaker 2: I'm here to tell you if my husband, if I
- 30:51Speaker 2: found his tender account, I'd just move him right out
- 30:54Speaker 2: of the house. We wouldn't need to move into the
- 30:56Speaker 2: new Salt Lake City house or go to Hawaii for restructure,
- 31:00Speaker 2: Like we'd just actually be done.
- 31:03Speaker 4: But she then she goes on to say that he
- 31:05Speaker 4: never actually met up with any of these women. And
- 31:08Speaker 4: I'm putting women in quotations because maybe because clearly maybe
- 31:13Speaker 4: he didn't actually meet up with women, and I don't.
- 31:17Speaker 1: There's just a lot to unpack here.
- 31:19Speaker 2: There's a lot to impact one, including that I don't
- 31:24Speaker 2: necessarily think that Whitney is being transparent with what she's
- 31:27Speaker 2: going through. And nothing bugs me more than half transparency.
- 31:30Speaker 2: It's fine if you want to give a part, like
- 31:33Speaker 2: if you either want to come clean and be like,
- 31:35Speaker 2: this is my shit show of a life which we
- 31:37Speaker 2: all have, all of us EBB and flow with that.
- 31:40Speaker 2: But she's coming forward with half truths, and that bothers
- 31:45Speaker 2: me a lot.
- 31:47Speaker 4: What do you think the half truth is that he
- 31:50Speaker 4: did something on tender but there's probably more to the story. Like,
- 31:53Speaker 4: she's telling this story and she's getting sympathy, but she's
- 31:56Speaker 4: not being one hundred percent transparent about all the things
- 31:58Speaker 4: that he's done.
- 31:59Speaker 2: I don't think she's being transparent about the things that
- 32:02Speaker 2: he's done. But I don't think she's being transparent about
- 32:04Speaker 2: the things that she's done either. I don't think her
- 32:06Speaker 2: first sip of alcohol was when she bought the new
- 32:08Speaker 2: house and she had one sip of champagne from her
- 32:12Speaker 2: broker's opening, Like, I don't think so. I think she's
- 32:15Speaker 2: doing jello shots and maybe soaking with one of the
- 32:20Speaker 2: other husbands, Like, let's just be clear. Then we get
- 32:26Speaker 2: to after Whitney's confession to Sailor, Taylor decides to make
- 32:31Speaker 2: her announcement she was pregnant, but she either miscarried her
- 32:34Speaker 2: or had an ec topic pregnancy. Whitney hates it. Taylor, Okay,
- 32:39Speaker 2: this this we see in Housewives a lot when two
- 32:43Speaker 2: people share a story that's very dramatic to them, but
- 32:48Speaker 2: nobody's really listening to what the other person says. They
- 32:50Speaker 2: just want to get out their story because.
- 32:53Speaker 4: They're just waiting for the other person to stop talking.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Yeah, they're like a zip it so I can tell
- 32:58Speaker 2: you what my news. So I guess you like, we
- 33:01Speaker 2: already know that your husband's been a cheater, but now
- 33:03Speaker 2: I need to tell you that I told my mom
- 33:05Speaker 2: that I was pregnant with the guy that I met
- 33:08Speaker 2: swinging that had a fentanyl addiction that slid in too
- 33:13Speaker 2: my DMS. That's slid in to my DMS. And I'm
- 33:18Speaker 2: the head doog. So everybody's going to care more about
- 33:20Speaker 2: my story. So that happens. We get through it. Then
- 33:27Speaker 2: we get back into me being confused. Because Dakota feels
- 33:30Speaker 2: that the church has saved him from his past addiction.
- 33:33Speaker 2: He tells Taylor Taylor he can't be with her if
- 33:35Speaker 2: she continues to party and drink alcohol, and her confessional
- 33:39Speaker 2: she says this may be an issue. Then they then
- 33:42Speaker 2: she goes, I'm just going to go out on one
- 33:45Speaker 2: last girl's night. Then we hear a recorded nine to
- 33:50Speaker 2: one to one phone call. Someone has called to report
- 33:53Speaker 2: domestic violence, saying a woman is screaming get off of
- 33:56Speaker 2: me in a nearby house. Then the body can footage
- 34:01Speaker 2: the police officers shown Taylor screaming. Coda tells the policeman
- 34:05Speaker 2: that she's hammered. She tries to tell them Dakota as two,
- 34:09Speaker 2: but he says he's sober. Taylor claims he threw her
- 34:12Speaker 2: in the garage, and Dakota says that's because she was
- 34:14Speaker 2: attacking him and throwing the chairs at him. Taylor tells
- 34:18Speaker 2: the police she peeded herself because she was so scared
- 34:21Speaker 2: of Takoda. She claims he pushed her and that's why
- 34:26Speaker 2: she threw things at him. The officer puts Taylor under
- 34:29Speaker 2: arrest for domestic violence. What were the hard part to
- 34:33Speaker 2: really reconcile here is we know that the two kids
- 34:36Speaker 2: are in the house, she's just found out she's miscarried
- 34:39Speaker 2: or had an ectopic pregnancy, and then we go into
- 34:43Speaker 2: the rest of the season and we end up finding
- 34:45Speaker 2: out that these two end up together and she ends
- 34:48Speaker 2: up pregnant. Taylor talks about being arrested and she wasn't.
- 34:55Speaker 2: So this nine one one incident happened not when she
- 34:59Speaker 2: was pregnant. This is when they were first dating, right. No,
- 35:02Speaker 2: this nine one one incident happened right after she had
- 35:05Speaker 2: the first either miscarriage or the a topic pregnancy.
- 35:09Speaker 1: So this nine one one footage happened while she was
- 35:12Speaker 1: filming the show.
- 35:13Speaker 5: Then.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I don't know if it's while she was filming the show,
- 35:16Speaker 2: but it was. They had it was, I mean from
- 35:21Speaker 2: what I had seen on TikTok, they had gone out,
- 35:25Speaker 2: she decided she was going to go to this concert
- 35:27Speaker 2: with her girlfriends. She came home, he was with the kids.
- 35:31Speaker 2: They got into this fight. They were throwing stuff at
- 35:34Speaker 2: each other. The kids were awake. Neither of them called
- 35:37Speaker 2: nine when one the neighbor did.
- 35:38Speaker 1: The neighbor did, Yeah, I heard the phone call from it.
- 35:41Speaker 2: I mean, all of it's really kind of actually sad
- 35:43Speaker 2: when you break it down.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Well, it's sad because you know, the kid's witnessed this,
- 35:47Speaker 4: and I guess she was arrested because the chair actually
- 35:50Speaker 4: hit a child or just came close to hitting a child.
- 35:53Speaker 2: She was arrested, I believe, and allegedly because there was
- 36:00Speaker 2: actually marks on Dakota from her and there was a
- 36:06Speaker 2: kid that was like, and this was in February of
- 36:09Speaker 2: twenty twenty three, and then so she was arrested in
- 36:13Speaker 2: February seventeenth. Authorities charged her with aggravated assault, two counts
- 36:17Speaker 2: of domestic violence in the presence of a child, child
- 36:20Speaker 2: aboose with injury, and a criminal mischief according to police
- 36:25Speaker 2: in Salt Lake City County. And then coming up this season,
- 36:28Speaker 2: we see Taylor talks about being arrested. We're gonna see
- 36:31Speaker 2: her pregnant again. There's a fight who will be Queen
- 36:34Speaker 2: Bee of mom talk. You're either team Taylor, team Whitney.
- 36:37Speaker 2: But it seems to me, it seems like all these
- 36:40Speaker 2: friendships are fake anyways, and they're doing this for money,
- 36:44Speaker 2: which really kind of sums up this Salt Lake City
- 36:49Speaker 2: perfection of women who are trying to like, there's a
- 36:55Speaker 2: something that I saw where the women say, our job
- 36:59Speaker 2: in life is just so of these men.
- 37:02Speaker 4: So you think these are just all women that are
- 37:03Speaker 4: trying to break from that stereo type of serving man
- 37:07Speaker 4: or being and trying to create their own identity, and
- 37:10Speaker 4: they're doing it through this mom talk. Like clearly they're
- 37:12Speaker 4: not a group of friends like Inluencer, right, they are
- 37:16Speaker 4: a group of influencers who had a lot of followers
- 37:20Speaker 4: on TikTok. So then I'm sure they all reached out
- 37:22Speaker 4: to each other got together so they could build more
- 37:25Speaker 4: followers from each other. So you know you're not talking
- 37:28Speaker 4: about deep rooted friendships here.
- 37:31Speaker 2: No, And now what they're going to do is they're
- 37:33Speaker 2: going to fight for famous who is going to be
- 37:36Speaker 2: the most popular of the secret wives of Mormon lives.
- 37:39Speaker 2: And I hate to be the bearer of bad news,
- 37:41Speaker 2: but at this point it's Taylor, which was the same
- 37:44Speaker 2: one as TikTok. And so we continue on until the
- 37:51Speaker 2: next episode and until the next episode. Thanks you guys
- 37:54Speaker 2: for tuning in to another episode of Popping Off. Please

- 38:04Speaker 2: have an inside source today, but I do feel like
- 38:06Speaker 2: we are always willing and open to get in more information.
- 38:09Speaker 2: And Emily, please make sure Shane is watching.
- 38:12Speaker 1: No I am.
- 38:13Speaker 4: He hasn't watched the first episode yet, but I told
- 38:15Speaker 4: him he needs to watch the episodes because I do
- 38:17Speaker 4: enjoy his perspective. Well we need it, yes, we need it.
