- 0:00Speaker 1: Marc Simone on se wo R. Well, let's talk to
- 0:05Speaker 1: the dean himself, Ed Rollins. He's run more campaigns, more
- 0:09Speaker 1: of the successful campaigns than anybody on Earth, Ed Rollins,
- 0:12Speaker 1: How you doing well?
- 0:14Speaker 2: Thank you? How are you? No?
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm good? What the hell happened last day?
- 0:19Speaker 2: We got our bus kicked meeting Republicans. At the end
- 0:23Speaker 2: of the day, Democrats heart maneuvers and certainly had and
- 0:29Speaker 2: what But at the end of the day, what they
- 0:31Speaker 2: did is they created one crazy candidate here in New York,
- 0:34Speaker 2: which we have to win with the new mayor inexperienced
- 0:37Speaker 2: and certainly socialists by inclination, and two progressive women who
- 0:43Speaker 2: got new governors of Virginia and New Jersey. The women
- 0:47Speaker 2: I worry about more because they're articulate and they have
- 0:49Speaker 2: an interesting story, and they blew us out. I mean,
- 0:52Speaker 2: margins were a week better than anybody anticipated. So first
- 0:56Speaker 2: thing we got to do, We've got to shoot all
- 0:57Speaker 2: the posters, and at least the the posters they're giving
- 1:01Speaker 2: bad numbers and getting the trenches. This is the reality
- 1:05Speaker 2: is a year from now is when it all matters.
- 1:08Speaker 2: This president as president loses this majority in the House
- 1:13Speaker 2: and the Senate serving the House as possible. Then he
- 1:16Speaker 2: got us in the last two years in legal entanglements
- 1:20Speaker 2: and potential impeachments and all the rest of it. So
- 1:23Speaker 2: he's got to basically get his focus in his White House,
- 1:26Speaker 2: his teams focused on those midterms that they have been
- 1:30Speaker 2: focused to date. You got to pick the twenty or
- 1:33Speaker 2: thirty members that are vulnerable and you can do everything
- 1:36Speaker 2: you can to build up their resources. You got to
- 1:39Speaker 2: do a real examination of what did happen to us yesterday,
- 1:42Speaker 2: No delusion. No Democrats went out and they got organized.
- 1:47Speaker 2: They turned people out. There's still a lot of anger
- 1:49Speaker 2: out there in this country and they have to deal
- 1:51Speaker 2: with it now.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Ed Rollins, you've seen them all come and go. Can
- 1:55Speaker 1: you reassure us that we are once and for all
- 1:57Speaker 1: done with Andrew Cuomo. We're not going to see him
- 1:59Speaker 1: again in a race, are absolutely not.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I hope he runs for president and gets the nomination
- 2:08Speaker 2: of the Democratics, not a kid. No, No, he's finished
- 2:14Speaker 2: and I don't know what he does but at the
- 2:16Speaker 2: end of the day and go live on his government pensions.
- 2:18Speaker 2: But he ran a terrible campaign. At the end of
- 2:21Speaker 2: the day, people didn't turn to yeah, even even the
- 2:26Speaker 2: governor governor or the other officers. He said this. Yeah,
- 2:29Speaker 2: I think people are tired of the legacy, and and
- 2:33Speaker 2: he did. He didn't make his case well. Uh and
- 2:36Speaker 2: the fact that he rebuilt Meguardia and the train station
- 2:40Speaker 2: is not what people are looking for today. How do
- 2:42Speaker 2: you make their life better?
- 2:43Speaker 1: So, so explain mont Domi to us. He's a he's
- 2:47Speaker 1: a good salesman. He is a nice, glib, fast talker.
- 2:50Speaker 1: He sounded very slick. Uh. But there's no substances, no resume,
- 2:55Speaker 1: no no history of a job. Well, how did he
- 2:57Speaker 1: do this?
- 3:00Speaker 2: You know, that's gonna be a big story, and I'm
- 3:03Speaker 2: gonna I'm gonna look into it a lot more than
- 3:04Speaker 2: I have to day. Uh. Uh, it's a you know,
- 3:08Speaker 2: I've talked about this for several weeks now, and he's
- 3:10Speaker 2: a new phenomenon. He turned young people on because I
- 3:13Speaker 2: think people just tired the status quo and they this
- 3:16Speaker 2: is this is the tough city to live in, it's
- 3:18Speaker 2: a tough city to govern. Uh. And my my worries is,
- 3:22Speaker 2: what's what's this direction? It's gonna be AOC and Bernie
- 3:25Speaker 2: Sanders coming in here as this senior advisors or of
- 3:28Speaker 2: the people that work for those two guys guy, or
- 3:32Speaker 2: is it going to be his own team as he is,
- 3:35Speaker 2: he kind of gets somebs and people. I doubt that
- 3:36Speaker 2: that's my fear is not it's not him alone. Uh
- 3:40Speaker 2: you know, we've we've survived the Bill Blood the Blazos before,
- 3:43Speaker 2: which was terrible mayors. But this guy has some dangerous
- 3:47Speaker 2: thoughts And is it the people he puts around him
- 3:49Speaker 2: an more dangerous That's what I worry about.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Hey, but we used to have for mayor like Rudy
- 3:54Speaker 1: Giuliani was a highly qualified guy when he ran him.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Incredible crime fighting history of Michael Bloomberg, incredible business resume.
- 4:01Speaker 1: The last three guys, the Blasio Adams and this guy
- 4:05Speaker 1: are just charming guys with no experience at all. What
- 4:08Speaker 1: is this some kind of new trend we got to
- 4:10Speaker 1: worry about?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah? I think so well to them, to them fail miserably,
- 4:14Speaker 2: and uh you know this one, this one I think
- 4:17Speaker 2: will fail even worse because what his natural inclination is
- 4:20Speaker 2: and the people are going to advise him, meaning again
- 4:23Speaker 2: AOC's people, uh are are not what this country the
- 4:28Speaker 2: city needs. The city needs a pro business. Uh you know, people,
- 4:33Speaker 2: people want the city to be stable, and it's not
- 4:36Speaker 2: going to be stable with their socialist policies come in.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Now you live in New York, How bad is this
- 4:41Speaker 1: going to be? What? What? What's going to happen to us?
- 4:46Speaker 2: Uh? I'm an old man, so I'm just I'm just
- 4:49Speaker 2: hoping I survive it. Uh. You know, there's so much,
- 4:53Speaker 2: there's so much to this city that that's magical, but
- 4:57Speaker 2: right today it's it's struggling. And the change in the demographics.
- 5:00Speaker 2: The fascinating parties to look at the early pool stuff
- 5:04Speaker 2: is that you know, Brooklyn is a place that this
- 5:07Speaker 2: guy went in and basically built the built the base,
- 5:10Speaker 2: and you know Staten Island is sort of the Republican
- 5:14Speaker 2: base and everything else is now different. We have a
- 5:17Speaker 2: very important governor's race and what I bothered me is
- 5:21Speaker 2: there's some assumptions now that we've got a great chance
- 5:23Speaker 2: with our candidate to win the governorship. We do, but
- 5:27Speaker 2: we don't do that unless we put in a reorganization together.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And this is not as this is not a party
- 5:31Speaker 2: has put any organizations together. This is the tacky.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's another problem. You've got a massive democratic machine,
- 5:37Speaker 1: party ground game. Republicans is like, three guys, there's no
- 5:42Speaker 1: Republican party here. What do we do about that?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Well, we got to change that. We have to you know,
- 5:48Speaker 2: the city is divided. We have five five our own
- 5:51Speaker 2: five party chairmen, and they all have their own little fiefdoms.
- 5:55Speaker 2: And the reality is we need a strong party chairman,
- 6:00Speaker 2: you know, and we've got to have changed the change
- 6:03Speaker 2: the way they've done things.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and Jack Chitarelli, I mean this is his third
- 6:07Speaker 1: time he lost by an even bigger margins. That that's
- 6:09Speaker 1: it for him, Right, he can't run again, Kenny.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I assume, so he should have been you know, he can't.
- 6:16Speaker 2: He came close with the biggest argument they had. You know,
- 6:18Speaker 2: he came within three points last time. Well, he obviously
- 6:20Speaker 2: had his story's flown off this time. And and she
- 6:24Speaker 2: she's gonna be a tough candidate and what what are you?
- 6:28Speaker 2: What are you running inst run that when she was
- 6:30Speaker 2: in Annapolis, that she basically wouldn't turn in her fellow
- 6:33Speaker 2: classmates who cheated. That's that was his big issue. And
- 6:38Speaker 2: the fact that her husband has stock stocking business, made
- 6:42Speaker 2: made some money. Yeah, at the end of the day,
- 6:45Speaker 2: she's she's an effective communicator, and she she's likable, and
- 6:50Speaker 2: you got to be likable in this business. Uh. And
- 6:53Speaker 2: when I saw the Farewell numbers, the Polie numbers came
- 6:55Speaker 2: out early, you know, the seven eight nine point margin
- 6:59Speaker 2: among abilities between the Democrats and Republican candidates. I knew,
- 7:04Speaker 2: if you don't like somebody, you're not going to vote
- 7:05Speaker 2: for him. So you've got to have people you like
- 7:08Speaker 2: homely you don't like right now, Mandavi they like, We'll
- 7:13Speaker 2: see it along that.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Last Hey, Gavin Newso, guy who redistricting plan approved in California,
- 7:20Speaker 1: is that going to make it easier for Republicans to
- 7:22Speaker 1: do the same thing in their states?
- 7:23Speaker 2: Now? Absolutely? Absolutely, you know, he had more marginal California.
- 7:28Speaker 2: But the more telling part is the guy who was
- 7:31Speaker 2: on the verge of being recalled several times, meaning the
- 7:34Speaker 2: governor of California, he's now at the bist of Bowery.
- 7:37Speaker 2: He had a fifty four percent of poop rating in
- 7:39Speaker 2: these poors last night. So he's become a viable candidate
- 7:45Speaker 2: beyond California, and he's certainly going to be if he
- 7:48Speaker 2: has to be viewed as one of the front runners
- 7:49Speaker 2: of the Democratic Party. I mean, I'd love to have
- 7:51Speaker 2: the opportunity to run against him. But at the end
- 7:53Speaker 2: of the day here you can't underestimate him as a messenger.
- 7:56Speaker 2: And certainly the House Republicans, we've gotta have a plan
- 8:00Speaker 2: here because they're going to carry to Downy Brook. We
- 8:03Speaker 2: lose that House, and we lose it by four or
- 8:06Speaker 2: five or ten or twenties. He's going to make all
- 8:08Speaker 2: the difference in the world. But the reality is the
- 8:12Speaker 2: President's going to have a bad two years if that happens.
- 8:14Speaker 2: So they got to do everything in this White House
- 8:16Speaker 2: against some of this formed policy stuff and what have you,
- 8:19Speaker 2: and be realistic. Realistic is president still has some popularity
- 8:24Speaker 2: on the base. None of the base was motivated by
- 8:28Speaker 2: him yesterday in the election because he wasn't on a
- 8:31Speaker 2: campaign and like he traditionally would be husy, busy guy
- 8:35Speaker 2: doing lots of other things, but it wasn't doing wasn't
- 8:37Speaker 2: focused on the campaigns, and that's his people come out
- 8:41Speaker 2: when he's on the ballot. He's not gonna be on
- 8:43Speaker 2: the ballot again, so you've got to cut of somehow
- 8:45Speaker 2: substitute something or someone for.
- 8:48Speaker 1: That good point. Well Ed Rollins, Thanks for the wisdom.
- 8:52Speaker 1: We'll talk again soon. Thanks for being with us, and
- 8:54Speaker 1: we'll do it again soon, my pleasure. All right, take care,
- 8:57Speaker 1: take care. Well, Well, we'll go over the mail race
- 8:59Speaker 1: some more. Little later, we'll get to New Jersey, the
- 9:02Speaker 1: governor's race. We've got a lot to get to coming up.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Don't forget Buck and Clay at noon today, excellent show.
- 9:07Speaker 1: They'll go over what happened last night, as will Sean Hannity,
- 9:11Speaker 1: who's here at three o'clock, the most listened to radio
- 9:14Speaker 1: show in America. And then Jesse Kelly at six Jimmy
- 9:17Speaker 1: Fayla excellent show every night nine to midnight here on
- 9:21Speaker 1: seven ten WR
