- 0:56We're okay again. Well, as always as always, we've
- 1:01got these tiles to decide to show up every week, to, to talk
- 1:06about, to Banter about to be Petty about, and then just to
- 1:12give a dose of track and field reality to the world.
- 1:16So, first Clyde, how are you today sir?
- 1:20You know, I'm just hanging on campus I love rain storms and
- 1:34you know, living our West Coast life, whatever.
- 1:42Governor, how are you today, sir?
- 1:45It was what almost 100 yesterday and it was 71 today, right?
- 1:54Sunny skies very Breezy but you know, I'm on campus to.
- 1:59So there you go, good to be here.
- 2:05So lucious, I mean I'm still Blinded By The Bling, so I don't
- 2:10know if I can get over that before I get to your whether
- 2:13Florida. So well the bling is you know we
- 2:18are on a constant mission to add to the bling around here but the
- 2:22weather has a mind of its own and it showed that last weekend.
- 2:27It was crappy, beautiful, super crappy.
- 2:32So since then it's been Beautiful, again little windy
- 2:37but it's been beautiful. Self will take the win, Lamar
- 2:44feel my pain happens? Do we dare ask?
- 2:47What? We're trying to feel.
- 2:49So it's about that time of the year.
- 2:51So between now and next week's show, I'll be Texas to Indiana
- 2:57to Florida. Maybe she'll fill all the
- 3:04weather's in one feel all the weather's in the next seven
- 3:08days. That is for sure by playing.
- 3:11I hope. Oh yes, good call, yes.
- 3:18Thank God. There is there is Omaha Nebraska
- 3:21and Everett Washington in my near future as well.
- 3:23So those will both be on a plane also.
- 3:30Plus that trip that. So that's all of those trips,
- 3:35right? Yes.
- 3:38So par for the course week in and week out track is back and
- 3:45track is definitely back because we saw some official, and some
- 3:52shouldn't be official things. Happened this week.
- 3:56That's true. Laughs try to jump you trying to
- 4:00jump ahead. I just know.
- 4:02I'm forecasting forecasting. I want.
- 4:07Were carving that stone? That's what that is.
- 4:10She getting tone Stormy Weather to come?
- 4:17I think what was interesting this weekend just to get us
- 4:21started as the be events. You know, athlete X is best at
- 4:28this event but we're going to run in off of it just to, you
- 4:33know, train above and below. And we got 11 0 and 20, 20 out
- 4:39of some be events. My favorite non-starting gator,
- 4:48Running people down the straightaway, again.
- 4:52It was. I just want to get us started.
- 4:55Just want to get us started with the commercials from a Florida,
- 4:59relays. Well, the first thing I want to
- 5:02say about the floor, relays is, you know, big and probably
- 5:05should've did some heartbeat props.
- 5:07But big, big shout out to the officials to my coaching staff
- 5:11to the, to the staff here at the University.
- 5:12For, I mean, I'd, we got me completely shut down Thursday
- 5:16night. My director of Ops Adrian,
- 5:19Melendez, you know, we all in my staff, we sit down.
- 5:22Come up with a plan to get everything done.
- 5:24Only thing, we'd only event that we did not run this weekend was
- 5:28a high school boys and girls long jobs that was it.
- 5:31We got everything done on Friday which is incredible beautiful
- 5:34day. And then we got a sweep with a
- 5:35stone that was supposed to last for like, 90 minutes on Saturday
- 5:40because of some wind current changes in the being a six-hour
- 5:43storm. Oh my gosh.
- 5:46Again we said Down and you know, we get the schools that aren't
- 5:50coming back and we condense the Heats and know we put on the
- 5:54track meet and there were some great performances.
- 5:57I mean, big shout-out to a be Steiner and and I'm just telling
- 6:01y'all folks I witnessed this. There's more in there clearly,
- 6:10you know, you can see that know, maybe it's because she knows
- 6:14she's got 100 instead of a 60 that she's not.
- 6:17Aegis about her starts. Her start with very patient and
- 6:20consistent Abby's a problem cause she's a problem.
- 6:25Yeah, she is. Well since there's room spent a
- 6:32lot of time on the East Coast with track is back segment.
- 6:35I'm going to I'm going jump to the West Coast and the best
- 6:39thing I saw you know, live and in person this past weekend is I
- 6:47I'm just going to call him oh Dody because I'm sure I can't
- 6:51say the rest of it, but Jerry is Cooper and Stanford have a
- 6:56freshman A legitimate bona fide, 1007, wind legal running
- 7:02freshman, and you just got to go watch the tape.
- 7:07And write that didn't look good. It's it look damn good.
- 7:12There is more there. Oh yes, yes, yes, there is more
- 7:17there and and for the for something like that to be going
- 7:20on at a bona fide, absolute distance program, right?
- 7:27For Coop to get somebody like that on the campus and get this
- 7:31thing going and direction. It's going in is amazing and you
- 7:35know it. I hope it doesn't come off like
- 7:38kind of sentence. I don't mean it.
- 7:39Like I'm just proud of who and that kid is amazing.
- 7:42Like it was a great, great great show that he put on this weekend
- 7:48and ran down some folks in for y1 which of course you would.
- 7:51Imagine that would happen. So yeah, that that kid is the
- 7:56real deal. And as we talked about
- 7:58privately, I mean this is that first time Cooper has done this.
- 8:01Yeah. Even baking at Arkansas State so
- 8:04we're not serving Elvis others others maybe.
- 8:07Yeah, exactly. Others may be but we're not
- 8:09surprised and you know when kubb get to be coaching them, what he
- 8:14does and he's got one. So do you expect to hear from
- 8:17this do for a while because he liked it as Clyde said he's a
- 8:20true freshman. Yeah, true freshman.
- 8:26So I'll like to bring everyone's attention to the center.
- 8:33You know, the the south central part of the country and there
- 8:38were some Shenanigans at the Texas, A&M Texas duel, are there
- 8:44ever now the before you go, I need you.
- 8:53Because you have you have you like you, you're not a Texas guy
- 8:57but you've been in that state off and willfully on time?
- 8:59Yes. I don't think everybody.
- 9:01Truly understands the the magnitude of the dislike between
- 9:05the two institutions. So maybe before you go in to the
- 9:07shenanigans, explain that part of it.
- 9:11Well you know II had a front-row seat when I got to Rice to see
- 9:19the Venom between Texas, A&M and Texas and it is you know it is
- 9:28and it will always be one of the greatest rivalries And God help
- 9:35us. When Texas joins the SEC.
- 9:42Holy cow. Like I'm trying to imagine like
- 9:46what is going to happen when they have to play football
- 9:50against each other every single year man.
- 9:57It is it is of Epic Proportions, you know?
- 10:01And the only thing I can say now obviously you know was it on SEC
- 10:09network or not? Do you know who Look at this, it
- 10:13was okay. You can see right now.
- 10:16Hmm can go back and watch the replays right now.
- 10:19Okay. So You know, these are things
- 10:23that have to be televised because you know there's so many
- 10:30fans alumni and it doesn't matter what sport it is.
- 10:37As long as those two teams are connecting and going
- 10:40head-to-head, it is much CTV. It just is, you know, it's so so
- 10:48you take the format of Duel me, right?
- 10:54And then you add the Venom and the vitriol and the Heat and the
- 10:59history, the horns down all of that, and the results speak for
- 11:05themselves. I mean 1107, what 11110 for
- 11:13sorry 1104. Oh sorry. 11:04 But can we talk
- 11:19about the women's 400 here for a minute but easily the best race
- 11:23of the week. Easy d flat.
- 11:26Not yeah, 50 flat. But four days was 51 one right
- 11:31after saying. So and tradition in traditional
- 11:36dual meet scoring that doesn't scored 11.
- 11:39Don't get any points if they're scoring 21 points.
- 11:43Exactly. It's the only thing that is
- 11:45wrong with that me, and I'll say it is Because I'm a fan of, I've
- 11:50said it for years line up and race your Rivals once a year.
- 11:54Hmm. I don't want to see a whole
- 11:57schedule to do with me. Yes, but every school has,
- 12:00that's cool. Yeah, I know we had we had this
- 12:03debate in season one. That's right.
- 12:05Line up and race arrivals once a year.
- 12:07It's good for the soul. It's good for the sport.
- 12:10The only problem with this meat is move it to the end, move it
- 12:14to the first week in May like all the other You know, West
- 12:18Coast do meet weekends and this is going to be even, even more
- 12:22fire. Yeah man.
- 12:23Right. But yeah, no, I'm glad they did
- 12:26it. I hope they don't stop doing it
- 12:28any time. I'm hearing.
- 12:30It's not happening again. That's just bad.
- 12:36That's what I'm hearing your hearing.
- 12:42Yes, it is. It goes beyond like sport, you
- 12:52know, and so I happen to get to Missouri when the the year
- 12:58before Missouri, join SEC and the Missouri, Kansas dual meet,
- 13:04you know, they had one indoor one outdoor and it was straight
- 13:08up. Like, you know, people forget
- 13:11that that rivalry is, I mean, the history of that rivalry is
- 13:17Unreal, you know, so I wish you know that we were you know, we
- 13:24were just like you said clad like let's have those those
- 13:29mortal enemies. You know that the one school
- 13:33that you love to hate get together, man.
- 13:36This let's do it. You know, and weeks before
- 13:39conference two weeks before Dawn and do it and and if it is
- 13:44actually going at Texas, Texas A&M is Away Pat glow.
- 13:49Shame on, you don't want, don't let that happen.
- 13:54I mean look how I would I would pop popcorn and pay money for
- 13:59Florida. Florida State.
- 14:00Oh yeah, Baylor TCU Michigan, Ohio State.
- 14:07Oh my goodness, right. I can think of a lot of really
- 14:11good ones, I mean it was yeah, Auburn.
- 14:15Alabama Auburn Alabama. Yeah, run it, run it in
- 14:19Montgomery. I don't care where you were.
- 14:24Yeah, so that was an unbelievable.
- 14:28Unbelievable showcase one on both sides by Texas and, you
- 14:34know, I hope that you know somewhere along the line they re
- 14:39candle that and they get back together because it does
- 14:42nothing. I mean what?
- 14:44I don't know. So did anyone hear the announcer
- 14:47during during that meat? Oh, he was very proactive.
- 14:52Okay, I look if you've ever been to a meeting am, that's what's
- 14:57going to happen. Because.
- 14:58Okay. So it was a complain that the
- 15:01that the Texas relays, right? Yeah.
- 15:03Because the Sprint medley I am wins race.
- 15:07Praise you reckon. And the, in the Texas, really
- 15:09announcer kept talking about what Texas did he did.
- 15:35Making up ground, like you watching because that is not
- 15:38happening. But that adds to, you know, the
- 15:45flavor of the meat is a person who has no stock in either side
- 15:49of this fight. Yeah.
- 15:50I just thought the whole thing was hilarious.
- 15:53But before before we jump off of this particular topic, like this
- 15:57is one of those moments that all Collegiate track, coaches need
- 16:00to understand is bigger than themselves.
- 16:03Yes. Like the health of Collegiate
- 16:06track and field is linked to a rivalry weekend, mmm-hmm, it's
- 16:14actually irrelevant. Regular season meet.
- 16:20Yes. And into to that point, I'm
- 16:23probably going to miss something.
- 16:24But just real quick from that meet, you got the number five,
- 16:30Mark in the country, in the men's hundred.
- 16:33Okay, you got the number three time in the country and the
- 16:38women's hundred. Hmm.
- 16:40You have the number one time in the country in the men's 200.
- 16:44And then you and then and then it starts to get interesting one
- 16:48and two in the women's 200 1, 2, & 3 in the men's 400 1, 2, 3 and
- 16:544 in the women's 400, like you're going to take the meat
- 16:58away. We don't, we don't want to do
- 16:59this in the future. Like, what do you mean?
- 17:02What, what should I say? Are you gonna go do?
- 17:04Exactly, exactly. They're coming, they're coming
- 17:07to our house like we've got okay, sure.
- 17:11Mark, that on the calendar, you know, Push it push a little
- 17:16further. Down the count.
- 17:16We good. I think it should be a
- 17:24requirement. I'm not against it racer Rivals
- 17:31once a year. All right we're good.
- 17:34Can't can I can I just get him back to the east coast of things
- 17:39and it we have a we have a saying around here.
- 17:46I hope I'm not violating some kind of LLC code that oh boy the
- 17:52custom Mouse is the best Mouse. Okay, I was once that's
- 17:57trademarked now, when sir lucious is in his Petty mode,
- 18:05that is also awesome and there's not too many things, more Petty
- 18:09than Jacory Patterson running 2020 just because he Or an ahall
- 18:14running 5535 in the 400-meter hurdles because she's bored.
- 18:19Can I just can we? Can we just like again?
- 18:22We just let that wash over you. The same human being has run 20
- 18:27for 55 seconds and scored sixty four hundred points and it just
- 18:33turned April, right? So you know unreal, it's he pole
- 18:38vaulting, next weekend because please do not give her any
- 18:44ideas. You challenged her.
- 18:46I'm sure she would take on that challenge.
- 18:50He's a five-meter vaulter for sure.
- 18:53I mean like, I mean, I'm gonna give credit where credit's due
- 18:5712. Her incredible work ethic and
- 18:59also you know, to my trusty assistant a dream and for
- 19:04helping her get ready for that. And I think the biggest thing
- 19:07with that one was just like, if you watch the race, there's so
- 19:11much more there. Mmm, so much more there.
- 19:14Yeah. And so we got to coach her
- 19:16better and we will and we'll see how far we go with that thing.
- 19:22You know, there's gonna take gives her options before it for
- 19:25her future, obviously. So the 400 hurdles women's 400
- 19:29hurdles at Florida, relays might have been I don't even know how
- 19:33to distinguish this. It was the most surprising event
- 19:37for me of the weekend. Not, because I don't know that
- 19:40these people can run, because they can.
- 19:42But in this one particular event from this one, particular meet,
- 19:45you have an ahall 5535 Masai, Russell, who we all know, was
- 19:49brilliant. Mmm, 5541 Florida, has another
- 19:54girl. 625 Vanessa Watson. Okay.
- 20:00All right, Howard has a 5632. Shout out to David Oliver and
- 20:06Miss Jessica, right. And then, you know, one of the
- 20:09best high jumpers in the country.
- 20:10I guess it's a theme this weekend.
- 20:12Miss Rachel Glenn decided she going to run it to it.
- 20:15Ran 5643. Oh, you know.
- 20:19Okay right. But like I said, I started this
- 20:24segment by Saying, like we doing off of it this week.
- 20:29All right. And it was funny because someone
- 20:33in the office when we were doing the heat, sheets saw Rachel in
- 20:38the 400 hurdles and was like is that a mistake in Melanie?
- 20:41Well 2 goes, no. It's not a mistake and she will
- 20:44run well and she ran well because he she runs on their
- 20:47own. They're four wide for indoors
- 20:48all the time. And we don't notice that, you
- 20:51know. So you know that, that was a
- 20:52heck of a job by her as well. What what what because I don't
- 21:02know. I don't know.
- 21:02I don't know what the stats were but I think the women's 800 was
- 21:05pretty good, Flo Rida's as well. Oh yeah.
- 21:08Very good. I'm trying to find that I just
- 21:12had it kind of It was, but if we're, if we're transitioning to
- 21:18the mid distance and distance of his well, the woman's, okay, so
- 21:22the women's 800 one, two, three, four, five, top five in the
- 21:27country didn't happen at the Hayward.
- 21:29Premiere, know it happened at a Florida relays, right?
- 21:34Be led by inexplicably, of course a gator.
- 21:39Period is over George Town Penn State and Kentucky. 202 203 203,
- 21:47204 204. Yeah I guess image engine
- 21:52couldnt handle having trouble for being the leading work from
- 21:56the head in line here of which and Hall.
- 22:01Still is number six in the country.
- 22:06So she's currently 11 and 6. Is that right?
- 22:11One and a half, one of the four and hurdles and six in the 80s,
- 22:14that's to it 402. And flog her Miss Wilson at
- 22:22Arkansas, has something to say about that loud and proud.
- 22:25So, oh yeah. you know, and of course, as we talked about the
- 22:32weekend before, It was Stanford weekend and we're Raleigh
- 22:37relays. For example, had one through 10
- 22:40in the 5K. Yeah, all that's gone.
- 22:43It's all Stanford Invitational now.
- 22:44Well yeah. What about the crew from
- 22:47Stanford? I can't like Five Guys.
- 22:49Rig 28, 50 years of crazy. Remember 129 was fast.
- 22:55Right, let's see. BYU 17 Northern Arizona. 18.
- 23:05Oklahoma State 19 BYU. Again, 19 Tulsa and Arkansas
- 23:11rounded that out with 2821 and those didn't even Eclipse.
- 23:17I'm sorry, I missed one number three, in the Time, Kip, Raines
- 23:2028:15 Point, 72, all the Stanford and in their midnight
- 23:26because that's what we do out. West, We Run, The 10K is.
- 23:29Yes. Super late in the night.
- 23:32Havoc having been In a head coach at that meat.
- 23:35They, you find yourself sitting next to people beating drums and
- 23:4011:55 at night and watching guys is click off 60s and you like
- 23:45what is going on right now? That's right.
- 23:48Then And and up next Mount Sac, here we go.
- 23:56Okay so I'm gonna live this up, there's a teaser and whatever we
- 24:00can get into it a little bit next week, but a week from now
- 24:04on this campus Florida, Florida, State Clemson, Texas Tech TCU
- 24:13Texas A&M LSU in. This isn't the big beat this has
- 24:19been for her Oklahoma State. Yeah, UNC.
- 24:25This is the Tom Jones. This is Tom Jones.
- 24:28So we can get a little bit more that actually, but I figure as a
- 24:31teaser maybe you watch it this would give you a week to get
- 24:35your reservations or hotels in your They're fine.
- 24:39Gasps you caught up, it might be cheaper to fly.
- 24:41There's a gas your car I'll come by.
- 24:43I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say this about that tracking and I'm
- 24:47not giving anything away. I'm not giving anything away.
- 24:49I'm just gonna say this, there's something happening in that meat
- 24:53that you do not want to miss. There's a lot of things
- 24:58happening in this week's. You don't want to miss because
- 25:00we all know that there is a plethora of professional
- 25:05athletes to train an estate. Sure.
- 25:07Can think about it like this, the top six guys from the
- 25:10Olympic Games and the 200 all trained in the State of Florida,
- 25:14we okay. And there is a very likelihood
- 25:18that you will see all six of them at sometime next week and
- 25:22something that Olympic development section is just like
- 25:27keep looking. The schedule and I'm like, man.
- 25:30Do I need to travel on Saturday? Oh yeah, that's gonna be fun.
- 25:36Speaking of mean can we talk about the pros for a little bit?
- 25:41The second here. Absolutely.
- 25:42Yeah, snow. I almost want to ask this
- 25:48question in two different ways. Number one have we seen the
- 25:53start list for the hundred for Bermuda?
- 25:56Yeah and number two. What are the odds that all these
- 26:02characters lineup solution throughout the lineup is okay
- 26:07I've heard a snippet some of the please read it to me and I'll
- 26:09tell you who and I can taste you that I do not think will show
- 26:12up. I'll keep that route.
- 26:13That Ronnie Baker. These are going to be there.
- 26:19No one else. No, no, no will be there.
- 26:22Bednarik By the kitty will be there.
- 26:26Bracey will not be there. Blake.
- 26:32You'll have yes. All the old gal show up.
- 26:35It's free money. They'll show Mike Rogers. of
- 26:39course, you do makes its money Michael Raceway, anybody,
- 26:43anytime he will be there guarantee that
- 26:56one and Brandon Carnes Van will be there.
- 27:01Wow, okay, wait and I stereo run the hundred.
- 27:04Yes, he's in the hundred. Oh boy.
- 27:09Yes he is. Hey, you know we can officially
- 27:13call The Bermuda event, the start of the pro season, and
- 27:17there's another high-profile things going on out there for
- 27:21that. But what are some other, what
- 27:22are some other good events going on there?
- 27:24I mean, in theory the women's 100 should be yes.
- 27:28Interesting. You got a, you know, you know,
- 27:31you got Michelle Lee? I offer her indoor season?
- 27:34Yeah, you gotta kinnison tomorrow, Clark to Hannah
- 27:38Daniels, Felicia Brown, Courtney, Johnson, my McCoy and
- 27:42Natasha Morrison, JV and Oliver Kiara Parker Destiny Smith
- 27:47Barnett Sturgis, TT, Terry, Gabby, Thomas, Mann ship choreo
- 27:54Wallace from Jamaica, who? I'm not familiar with and Kayla
- 27:57white wowzers So that's 246 that seven athletes that have
- 28:05subtenant 7-Eleven PBS. Yeah, what I do find interesting
- 28:11about the women's hundred and this isn't any kind of I'm not
- 28:15being petty and just interesting, the usatf promo
- 28:19shots that are all over the Internet.
- 28:21Feature, shaqiri Richardson who clearly is not in me.
- 28:26So why are we doing that? Hmm.
- 28:36Who knows? You know.
- 28:40But now there's some interesting interesting things going on out
- 28:44there in theory I hope everybody shows up So can we talk about
- 28:49the 1988 1988? I'm sorry.
- 28:55Did you say the 1014 1012? Okay, I'm time.
- 29:12Jesus, we don't enjoy being these people.
- 29:17At least I don't I don't hold on a second.
- 29:22Are you about to be Petty? You may see that that way.
- 29:26I don't know. No, I'm asking a serious
- 29:28question, sir, because I am all I'm going to say is this, if you
- 29:31are about to be Petty, you absolutely enjoy every second of
- 29:35that. That would be true but I'm not,
- 29:37I am in this moment. I am not attempting to be Petty.
- 29:39I'm attempting to be rational Okay, that's good.
- 29:43It is it is 2022 and we all have some version of an electronic,
- 29:49you know, monitoring device for time that you can go to mmm.
- 29:57Mistakes happen to track meets. Yes they do.
- 30:01It is what it is. And the young man out here on
- 30:06the West Coast from Mount Sac Juco.
- 30:11I know the coach there. I think they're good people,
- 30:13they always have great athletes, there's no Universe 4988 happy.
- 30:18You can literally take the video and put it in any system.
- 30:23You want, dartfish Coach's Eye, whatever it is you want and it's
- 30:29not even close to my age a so because that time is so
- 30:35eye-popping and you know legitimately world class In a
- 30:43moment like that, I feel like the meat should have taken some
- 30:47precautions or you know, figured something out because that's a
- 30:53whole issue. And that like if a Coach or an
- 30:56athlete believes that thing to be real, they'll probably make
- 31:01decisions. You know, based on that they
- 31:04then we'll tear anything posted. What was posting?
- 31:09He's far going and going pro. Whoa, there.
- 31:14And and and now, and now we all have a problem or police.
- 31:19He will he will right? Okay, great.
- 31:24Good Luck. Good Luck, sir.
- 31:26Wish you the best? Mount Sac is coming up in a week
- 31:31and a half. Yeah.
- 31:33On his on his own track. Mmm.
- 31:35I really hope he's in the open Olympic development hundred
- 31:39meters with all the other 98 guys.
- 31:43And he better false start. What?
- 31:51Yeah, it's it's it's a it's unfortunate, right?
- 31:55Because I'm relatively old and relatively experienced at this
- 32:05point, right? So can I tell a difference
- 32:10between a 987 and a 988 race? My eyeball probably not.
- 32:15Can I tell a difference between a 988?
- 32:17In a 1998. Race.
- 32:19Yes. Between a 988 and a 10-1 race.
- 32:24If I've been drinking. Yes.
- 32:27And I'm 988 race in April, by a guy who's PB legal is 1016.
- 32:37Already smells funny. Mmm.
- 32:42And then when you watch the race again, you like, unless
- 32:47everybody else in that race, just got a whole lot faster to
- 32:50we have a problem. Oh, according to the meet
- 32:53results, they did everybody in that race red, massive PR's,
- 32:57which always tells you that there's a problem either, either
- 33:01the wind gauge didn't work. 49, or There's a timing malfunction,
- 33:11hmm. There is more than one race,
- 33:14too. I had a coach.
- 33:15Let me know that there was a sizable PR has in the female in
- 33:19there too. What mistakes happen and people
- 33:23just need to own them. I remember one when I was in
- 33:25college, we had a dual meet with UCLA and I didn't run the 200
- 33:30this meat, but they ran 200 from the wrong other on 4x2 starts,
- 33:40right? So it doesn't allow situation
- 33:41from a year to, thank you. I'm right.
- 33:43So so everybody's running a different distance and obviously
- 33:47the further out the track you go, the shorter distance
- 33:49running. So, somebody whose PB was who
- 33:53was 2140 ran like 2012. It's like you already know
- 34:00something's wrong. Yeah, you know, and look so
- 34:06while we're talking about malfunctions, no, let's go ahead
- 34:10and no, and put it out there. It was a malfunction before to
- 34:13realize and, you know, the men's had the first unit, a hundred
- 34:17the timing system didn't didn't work and we did what we were
- 34:21supposed to do, what we reran the race.
- 34:23And they'll, you know, there was some chatter on the internet
- 34:25today about no shame on us. Well, things happen, guys.
- 34:30The internet goes out, power goes out.
- 34:33You know, the, you know, we had Massive rainstorm in, get a
- 34:36start in either system started, but this chatter on the internet
- 34:39about no shame on us for not getting a time and erase the
- 34:42shame on you people. They don't have enough common
- 34:44sense to know that these things happen, attracting people.
- 34:47And if anybody has enough Common Sense, look, I had three guys in
- 34:51the race, so if anybody was not happy, it should have been me,
- 34:55right? And if you look at the video,
- 34:57all three of my guys, ran pretty well in that race.
- 34:59So, but guess what? As I said today, it's April 2nd.
- 35:03And when it comes down, Down to it.
- 35:04Now I'm gonna I'm gonna make my man Lamar here happy for a half
- 35:07a second who gives a shit what happened?
- 35:09April 2nd if you don't get all trouble.
- 35:13So for those of you who want to come at my program at my neck
- 35:15because of One race, okay, do what you do?
- 35:20But, you know, back up, it was a race.
- 35:22It happened. It was a mistake.
- 35:24It wasn't a mistake. It was just a malfunction but at
- 35:27the end of the day, I could promise you.
- 35:29Nobody will remember that if you have your people ready to run an
- 35:33a at you? Birdman hand rub, it's just
- 35:47unnecessary, the, the chatter behind that.
- 35:49And I mean, we've, I think we've all been attracting where we've
- 35:54seen that happen, right? At some point time of your life.
- 35:57We just wanted a major track meet this seen that happen.
- 36:00Yes, yes, I mean, I want it. I want to remind all the people
- 36:05who haven't been in enough track meets that there was a re-run of
- 36:10the 110 hurdles in the Rio Olympics.
- 36:15It was a re-run of the 60 meter final at the NCAA indoor
- 36:20championships. Which was having issues will see
- 36:26in the in, here's the thing, the backstory to the whole floor
- 36:29relays thing is like so you know, I walk down the track and
- 36:34I get the guy's a comeback and you know, the crowds, go,
- 36:36whatever you're bullying me for I'd, I didn't, I was like, all
- 36:39right, I'll try to make light of the whole situation but then
- 36:43when I walked down the track, the starter came to me as I
- 36:48coach, I promise you, we shot the recall gun as soon.
- 36:52As we got word from them from the boot because he knew my next
- 36:55question was, why don't we wait till 80 meters down the track?
- 36:57The father recalled them. Right.
- 36:59So there's this that food, right?
- 37:01But then you started said look and then the time who was a, you
- 37:04know, a guy that is Time meets all over the world and major
- 37:07championships. At that said that he didn't
- 37:10they. They thought that they had to
- 37:11start and it didn't have it in the time they realize it.
- 37:14The guys are off with in the truck.
- 37:16No. So, it's like, it's just, we're
- 37:17just a malfunction of life, I guess, you know, the system.
- 37:21So, Nobody did it on purpose for the people out there, to with
- 37:26why you should add it back up system wealth.
- 37:27The first system that neither you don't get the start, neither
- 37:30system starts. You said simple.
- 37:32So we only thing we could do is we run the race.
- 37:34And those guys who chose not to run it, you know, guys who chose
- 37:37to. But again like I said to mean in
- 37:40the day you know it it was training for me, my group
- 37:44anyway. So go back and get ready for
- 37:46managing wake-ups. Yeah.
- 37:48That's the beauty of April is you can rewrite or you could
- 37:52Every run in and it does not only difference is that because
- 37:55it could, because it is made happens at the carpet.
- 37:57We do. You write your rerun, it, you'll
- 37:59have shorts. Listen, i-i've seen a timing
- 38:04malfunction. I've seen a timing malfunction
- 38:07at a last chance meet in the 4 by 4.
- 38:12Hmm. And and then all the teams were
- 38:15notified and they were given the option to rerun in 45 minutes
- 38:20and two, I think three of the three of the five teams decided
- 38:24to run and two of those three teams made it to the National
- 38:28me. Like look, it happens.
- 38:31Folks, it never happens on purpose.
- 38:36They like River the river, the situation in Jacksonville.
- 38:39Was that last year? We're doing the for wife.
- 38:42Would thought the lights in the stadium, go out.
- 38:45Yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen everybody.
- 39:06While a gun is gone off in the photo album in a tad.
- 39:11Gormley Stadium in New Orleans and 19 in New Orleans history
- 39:16and they ended up running that race over again.
- 39:19They had to run the 4 by 1 over again and yeah, that I mean
- 39:24remember the year at Penn relays Florida and TCU and the big
- 39:28battle and they're both on the wrong leg.
- 39:29Oh my gosh. But that one these things had
- 39:33this just as part of track and field.
- 39:35Yeah, you know. Yeah, it is, I remember this
- 39:38was, this was a long time ago. I was before electronic.
- 39:41It was like back when you had to build it took the better those
- 39:44pictures were called but like there was a, there was a
- 39:46malfunction with the timing. estimate the usatf me you know
- 39:52out in out in Oregon and one place in the women's 200 that
- 39:55had you know, You're the best girl in the world, top 10
- 40:00Marshall, and that group. So, yeah, these things have been
- 40:03slow. So if we're going to be getting
- 40:06into the internet Shenanigans, if we're going to do this week
- 40:10in Petty, I was just going to say we're going to go ahead and
- 40:13sit on this cloud of this week and Petty you know go ahead and
- 40:17quote that because this might be a thing Lamar.
- 40:26Yes, sir your thoughts on Instagram lives?
- 40:33Well, okay. I always feel like going on,
- 40:43Instagram live is like playing Russian roulette.
- 40:48Right? Like there are no really good
- 40:51outcomes. You just survived it and this
- 40:57past weekend, there were some Instagram, live shenanigans that
- 41:06R. They're perfect.
- 41:09Examples of why you don't you don't do Instagram lives that
- 41:12you don't control because the trolls live they live for
- 41:18Instagram lives, this is there. 12 seconds of shine to go at
- 41:24somebody who has some shine and if you're not quick, witted if
- 41:33you're not, If you're not able to be common, those situations
- 41:38and take control of situations, you get kind of what happened.
- 41:42You get a troll going at or world-class athlete and just
- 41:48giving them the blues for like 12 minutes.
- 41:55That that at that enough of a taut alley-oop for you.
- 42:01Governor. II just and I think I said this,
- 42:10you know, in our group chat before There you, you cannot
- 42:17win. Nobody wins when you engage your
- 42:21troll. Can't be the troll in.
- 42:24You can't beat him, okay? And nowhere.
- 42:29Is it more, you know, is more clear than on Twitter or
- 42:35Facebook where there's nobody. You can't see anybody hears,
- 42:38they're just these words and it's like bait.
- 42:43It's Like I'm going to throw this out there and I'm praying
- 42:47you respond because all it is is all that's going to happen is
- 42:51this is just going to breed more ignorance is going to breed more
- 42:55and I'm just going to raise the temperature and I'm just going
- 42:58to keep raising it until you explode and guess who's going to
- 43:02look stupid, right? And that is, you know you know
- 43:06we I would think that this point in or experience with social
- 43:13media. You that you can see it, you can
- 43:18detect it and you can eliminate it all in one move like it's
- 43:25something that it's just not worth it.
- 43:28It's just not. You can't play poker with
- 43:33somebody has nothing to lose, right?
- 43:35Exactly. That's a great analogy.
- 43:39So if you're somehow in the track world and unaware of, what
- 43:44were you talking about Trayvon bromell, decided to go on
- 43:49Instagram live and take Q&A from his followers which a lot of
- 43:55people do. I kind of get it but not really.
- 44:01I have, but I understand it. And this absolute, nobody of a
- 44:09human being decided to get on there and just disrespect the
- 44:15man across the board. Call them soft said that he
- 44:21choked at the Olympics said it said all kind of just wild
- 44:25disrespectful stuff and it's Instagram live so it's you know
- 44:29to his face meaning they're both able to see each other and
- 44:33they're having this conversation, right?
- 44:37My here's the thing as much disdain as I have for the
- 44:43individual who thought themselves worthy to come. on a
- 44:48computer screen and talk trash to a human being whose whose
- 44:56Talent they could never hope to have and has done things in this
- 45:00world that they could only have wet dreams about doing like as
- 45:07much of this thing as I have for that individual and people who
- 45:11behave that way. It's trayvon's fault.
- 45:17Bro. How can you stand?
- 45:19How can you let that happen? You have a button and you have a
- 45:24microphone. You gotta hit the button.
- 45:27You gotta hit the button and get that clown off of there, or you
- 45:31have to retort in a way as forceful as the disrespect that
- 45:36you are being shown. Like, I don't, I just don't
- 45:40understand. I can't imagine, Maurice Greene
- 45:45Auto, Bolden, any of the Great's of our past entertaining, this
- 45:50kind of type of conversation, let alone sitting there and
- 45:54openly taking disrespect. I just, I just can't, I can't
- 45:58see that. And so, because trayvon's are
- 46:02respectful, dude, because he was trying to be civil in a moment
- 46:06that didn't warrant any Ability whatsoever.
- 46:11He almost ended up looking like he, what he's being accused of
- 46:15being, which was solved. And that's tragic because no
- 46:20random clown on the internet should be granted access to get
- 46:26on the internet and talk to you that way.
- 46:27And the cold part is you gave him the access So like I don't I
- 46:34can't imagine that. There's enough clicks likes
- 46:37follows in the world that make that a worthy way to conduct
- 46:42business. I just don't and as a fan of
- 46:44Trayvon, I was both pissed off that someone was disrespecting
- 46:48him like that but I was more disappointed that he let it
- 46:52happen in the manner that he did.
- 46:55And so you know, to the pro athletes out there in our sport.
- 47:00You don't need to do that. To make the sport better or your
- 47:04brand bigger. You don't need to engage with
- 47:07these clowns because they are clowns.
- 47:11Don't get it. Twisted are clowns.
- 47:13And so I just I don't I don't like seeing listen, you Tom,
- 47:21Brady doesn't do that. LeBron doesn't do that.
- 47:25Katie gets in fight with the fights with trip with Twitter
- 47:27trolls, which is why don't actually respect Katie.
- 47:29But that's a whole nother issue. Like, just don't, you don't need
- 47:33to do that. You're bigger than that, you're
- 47:34more important than that. Don't give these people that
- 47:38have no understanding of what you do for a living and what it
- 47:41takes to do those things. Don't don't give them an
- 47:43audience, please. Well, I wasn't no, I have not
- 47:52been privy to the conversation. I've had a chance to look at it
- 47:56but it just a situation where like you said, he gave a guy
- 48:00access to him. The guy took advantage of that
- 48:03and was clearly very disrespectful and rude.
- 48:07And like you said, just push the button and get rid of them.
- 48:10But so my challenge to Trayvon and the rest of the hundred
- 48:12meter people in the country that this troll as you call them
- 48:16called out. Best way to shut him up to go
- 48:19out and run. Well which on that know what?
- 48:21The u.s. 100-meter people are about.
- 48:24I'm a rock. I'm riding with that because I
- 48:26think that we're gonna see some special things out of the 100
- 48:28this year. And oh man indeed I think we
- 48:33talked about this a little bit, you know.
- 48:34Like last year I think the event, they're kind of took our
- 48:38Breath Away was both 400 hurdles, right?
- 48:41Oh yeah. So what if it what event we
- 48:42thinks going to be, that's going to be this year?
- 48:44Will it be the men's 200? Like what would be?
- 48:46The women's 200. Under after what we saw, Texas
- 48:48realize, like, what events do you guys think even our event?
- 48:51Do you guys think is going to be like that?
- 48:53Like, oh my god, did you see that?
- 48:55You know, it's ironically the missing those Shenanigans,
- 48:58right? So, ironically, enough for me,
- 49:02the men's 100 meters is as interesting as it's been in
- 49:06decades. Yes, maybe ever maybe.
- 49:09I, maybe I said, too, and coach Anderson.
- 49:17Offline, I think this is the first time in my life where the
- 49:21hundred meters has been legitimately in doubt.
- 49:25Like I'd if I don't legitimately have a, this person is going to
- 49:30win for the first time in my life and I'm about to be 50 too
- 49:33long. Yeah, that's that's a great
- 49:36money. And the only guy that, you know,
- 49:38is going to be at the world for us is Christy because he has the
- 49:42by right. Exactly.
- 49:44And that's exactly right. Because you got no clue there.
- 49:50And I mean, you know, when the bowl era was you tuned in to see
- 49:56how fast can this do run. Yes, not like the race was in
- 49:59doubt. Yeah, the race is legitimately
- 50:02and out like I could, I can make a very Easy case for five or six
- 50:06different people being ended up world champion.
- 50:10So you know I I don't think we're going to see a world
- 50:13record but you don't need a world record for for it to be
- 50:17the best show in the world so I'll ask this question.
- 50:22Okay so you got one event at the NCAA championships issue.
- 50:27One man one woman that you say do not miss.
- 50:31What are those events? Women Sprint, hurdles,
- 50:40absolutely. I would say the women's 400
- 50:47because, yeah, I was the young lady to rent 51 at the from
- 50:54Kentucky at Florida. Relays she's going to be in
- 50:59there too. Like you best believe.
- 51:03But I think we're going to see some serious running in the 400.
- 51:14I would say the woman's hundred hurdles and the men's 200 but
- 51:20nothing on this planet would keep me from watching the
- 51:23heptathlon. Mmm-hmm I get nothing I get
- 51:29that. We usually you know give you
- 51:31give you shit about your affinity for the most people.
- 51:34We get that main like she's like Anna Halls.
- 51:39Like we all recognize a really early we're watching a thing.
- 51:43So right that we just we should just collect all these times.
- 51:45We get to see her in a college uniform because we know like
- 51:48it's going away soon. I'm not saying Anna is
- 51:51necessarily going pro immediately.
- 51:53I just know that what she's doing is not normal, it's not
- 51:58even generational. It's twice in a lifetime. you
- 52:05know, I just had a thought about Ana home remembering her, the
- 52:12chitchat that came with her command a high school and it's
- 52:18great to see that it's actually coming forth and like, she's
- 52:21this presents that she was Predicted to be, you know, one
- 52:27at fuck up there, is that conversation?
- 52:29And now it's all coming to fruition and, you know, she's
- 52:33got this great opportunity now to be with this coaching group,
- 52:35that is allowing the growth overall, where you know, She
- 52:42could have landed or still been at a place where that was being
- 52:46stammered. And in her case, like that's
- 52:49important to her, but she doesn't want to be known as just
- 52:51a piss at a multiband athlete. She wants to be known as an
- 52:54athlete and you know, they're at and this is bad because like
- 52:59someone emailed me and was like, you to put an ahall and Sterling
- 53:04Nestor in the form of hurdles and take them out of the multi
- 53:08which. Okay, first of all, you know,
- 53:10Anna Stirling that's not happening, right?
- 53:12But you can have three girls 155 seconds.
- 53:14Well, and I 155 and Vanessa is going to starting, Lester will
- 53:21not even consider the for her torso.
- 53:31And the funny thing is like this person, they emailed me and I
- 53:35didn't respond to the email. They sent me a personal letter
- 53:38to my office. You're adamant about put the
- 53:42three were getting Do you want to acknowledge us with that?
- 53:49You're going to hear this, you're gonna get a summons next,
- 53:54is watches the show when I know whoever they are get them, a
- 53:58clip of this to the show. Now the governor mentioned the
- 54:01400, which I absolutely don't disagree.
- 54:04With the crazy thing about the 400 is and it's kind of to the
- 54:07point that we were that I was just making about both in 100
- 54:10error, right? The 400 for the women were
- 54:13spectacular last year. Yes, just mole is so much
- 54:18better. You forgot what happened behind
- 54:21her. Yeah, right.
- 54:23That that was one of the best NCAA for hundreds of all.
- 54:26It's the same can be said about the 800.
- 54:29I mean, is what are we about to witness?
- 54:33So, you know, the men, there's a lot of good events for the man
- 54:38I'm having trouble. Pinning.
- 54:41One down. The men's hundred is interesting
- 54:45to me for the same record for the same reason that the USA or
- 54:50World hundred is I have no freaking idea who's gonna win
- 54:52it. Yeah, like it's so wide open but
- 54:57my client has it was. There was a poll that anybody
- 55:00can take the kids, the young man from USC to Win It indoors,
- 55:03maybe him and check with it, but nobody else did.
- 55:15I don't know. I don't know, I guess for I
- 55:18guess for me, the reason I picked the men's 200.
- 55:21It's it's like threefold one. It's the meeting point between
- 55:26some of those hundred guys and some of those four guys and
- 55:29there's a lot of ridiculousness that's going on in there to what
- 55:33Matthew bowling does is always a legitimate story to watch and
- 55:37three. And look, I'm not a fan boy but
- 55:40at the end of the day, I just firmly believe that this dude is
- 55:42really going to figure it out one day.
- 55:44But I'm telling you this, when Joseph Family decides to run
- 55:49from point A to point B, it's a wrap folks that dude is the
- 55:53Collegiate record holder in the 200 Well, and he runs from point
- 55:57A to point B, it's a wrap. I'm, you know.
- 56:03I think he talked me into it just there sir, because as we
- 56:08sit here today, which is you know, April 5th is 20 20, 20,
- 56:1720, 20, 20 20, 20, 20, 20 24, and then Matthew bowling at
- 56:2420:30 one is number 6. So, I just might have to be the
- 56:30men's 200 meters because Lena we are, we harkening back to
- 56:37Sacramento that Sacramento, 200. I mean, it could be, we going
- 56:41back. There could be better.
- 56:43I'm okay. Walter, dicks Tyson, Gay
- 56:46Wallace. Gave you a quarter?
- 56:51Okay, so here's the thing. This more who used to be at
- 56:59Purdue and has now transferred to Texas is sitting at number
- 57:04eight at 2039. Wow.
- 57:08Okay so we have am Texas Tech Florida, Florida, Kentucky,
- 57:14Georgia, Stanford, you know the freshmen who runs 1000 in April
- 57:20and then Texas. Now last I checked all those
- 57:24places have people who are you know, decent coaching.
- 57:27Mmm so if they're 2020 in April. Yeah I mean you see a handful of
- 57:3519's yeah at the Cathedral with all the chips on the line and
- 57:42he'll Marcellus more his team going to be in the running for
- 57:45the national title. Yeah we got the Gators here in
- 57:48the running for the national title.
- 57:50You got Georgia here in the running for a national title
- 57:52it's like these not only on crisis going to be bad for going
- 57:56to mess. This, the Indoor national
- 57:59champion hasn't, run it yet. It is running, right?
- 58:04He will have something to say folks would like to say, yeah, I
- 58:09guess it is Miss 200C. When you do, when you talk about
- 58:14the men's 100, it's like like you said, like you have no clues
- 58:18going to win that like you know, that that that that's that's a
- 58:22story. I think.
- 58:22We all want to watch unfold my like like who's going to come to
- 58:26the Forefront? Who's going to make the
- 58:28statement guys, there's an oncoming somewhat serious,
- 58:30right? It might be windy but there's
- 58:32one coming right there. There's a there's a That throat
- 58:35enose gotten their start having I am probably when they did as
- 58:38well. But like the end of the day,
- 58:39like it's going to come down with 102, the guy that kite like
- 58:42indoors. The guy shows up gets to the
- 58:45final and excuse at a high level, will be the national
- 58:47champion that I drew upon the moments.
- 58:48I see as sexy as the women's 100 hurdles is it is anybody want to
- 58:55miss the winners hundred? Because when would what Jets
- 58:59doing with what the balog did and when I saw a bee, that's a
- 59:03three headed monster. Again, there's somebody out
- 59:05there going. Yeah, I'm going to be a part of
- 59:07this part because the young lady, from the International
- 59:09Champion had run Yeti. Yeah.
- 59:11And, oh, by the way, she'll be engaged when that's weekend as
- 59:13well. So yeah, yeah.
- 59:17Coastal Carolina. Qu, are you not going to be here
- 59:20on Saturday night on Saturday? At least for Krista in the
- 59:23morning? Oh, shame on you.
- 59:26I had to open my mouth of a job offer.
- 59:31Give you. What's the I'll send you in?
- 59:34But what do we have next to because we can keep doing Petty
- 59:37topics. I know right?
- 59:39We'll keep this to be segmented for the week's coming.
- 59:42This will this will be a nice little sprinkle little
- 59:46sprinkles. So I was sent a question and I'm
- 59:50going to not paraphrase it but I'm going to give a layer to let
- 59:55the other layers Bloom. So here recently, recent past
- 1:00:04International recruitment has been on the rise and it's the
- 1:00:08incline has been substantial and it's taken its made an impact on
- 1:00:14the NCAA. So with that and being that the
- 1:00:18NCAA is the breeding ground. The development center for
- 1:00:22athletics Home can this also be? The contributing factor of the
- 1:00:30decline of us Athletics and its development.
- 1:00:38Um, Quickly go. Okay, okay, so like for me, I'm
- 1:00:46not gonna buy it. I'm not like so as we talked
- 1:00:51about during the pandemic, when we were talking about, if we're
- 1:00:55going to get back to playing sports, America is and always
- 1:00:59has been a very Sports driven Society Sports and money,
- 1:01:05Athletics and money, right? And so, what people are doing,
- 1:01:10Is people have got in my opinion we've gotten people have gotten
- 1:01:13lazy and so they're looking for what we like to call the
- 1:01:17ready-mades and the ready-mades are the Europeans, the
- 1:01:20Caribbeans that are a little older, a little more mature,
- 1:01:23been doing it long. So everybody's looking for that
- 1:01:26quick fix that person to go out there and find a way to get into
- 1:01:31the top 10 in the country or the top 20 in the country, depend on
- 1:01:33what schools you have because then you get bonus money for
- 1:01:35that, right? So that, you know, at the coach
- 1:01:37as well. So do I think it led to a bit of
- 1:01:40a Decline I absolutely yes. No.
- 1:01:43Do I think that just going to continue to do it?
- 1:01:46Absolutely. When you can go out and sign a
- 1:01:49guy that's runt into already versus doing what?
- 1:01:52My man Coupe. Did it find it in for making it
- 1:01:54to know, most of it won't take the other option?
- 1:01:57And I think that it hurts, the American kids in a lot of ways
- 1:02:01because there's a lot of opportunities are not going to
- 1:02:03get because of the international, but you can go
- 1:02:06out but I don't, I don't know what you do to stop it.
- 1:02:10Because as long as it's languages money behind it,
- 1:02:12they're going to keep doing it. Well.
- 1:02:18I think that the age, where in the pandemic age, the covid year
- 1:02:27age has really turned things upside down from the standpoint
- 1:02:34of, okay, so we're talking about Elite performances, but we're
- 1:02:40also talking about athletes that are 22, 23, summer 24.
- 1:02:46So, Now, you're moving into grown, folks.
- 1:02:52Okay? And again, I I look at it both
- 1:02:58ways, you know, for a school that's trying to keep up with
- 1:03:04the Joneses for school is trying to to produce or put a product
- 1:03:09on the track that can compete with the elite.
- 1:03:16Some schools and assert Lucius said, I mean it's call it lazy
- 1:03:23butt. Do you have the time to develop
- 1:03:29our young 17 18, 19 year, old kid and move them into that
- 1:03:36category and get them to start understanding?
- 1:03:40Okay, this is a standard we're trying to get at and we need to
- 1:03:44get there now. We need to start thinking about
- 1:03:47that. so on that note, in my opinion, In general, there's a
- 1:03:56hierarchy that starts with the portal, then International then
- 1:04:02Juco, and then High School, right?
- 1:04:08So, and I would even take it one step further.
- 1:04:11I think it hurts High School, boys.
- 1:04:16High School, men, much more because we're also dealing with
- 1:04:23a deficit of scholarships on the men's side, right?
- 1:04:27So when you start to, you know, recruit from those three
- 1:04:33categories, All of a sudden. Now, kid, that might have been
- 1:04:38thinking about going to a top-tier school That option is
- 1:04:43not there, it's not going to be there.
- 1:04:47And you know at some point things will go back and revert
- 1:04:53to you know what? We're used to at some point the
- 1:04:55covid year will go away at some point you know, that kid going
- 1:05:00after their second Masters will not will not be there, right?
- 1:05:05Or the kid that gets to the end of their, you know, their
- 1:05:09eligibility or their degree program.
- 1:05:13Can't get into a master's program at that school and
- 1:05:16decides. You know what?
- 1:05:17I want to go have fun one more year, right?
- 1:05:20That will end at some point. Okay, so I think in the interim.
- 1:05:27Yes, I think it's absolutely hurting that middle tier you
- 1:05:33know, high school kid and it's you know, even for me, you know,
- 1:05:39when I'm when I'm talking to Yeats and I'm trying to get them
- 1:05:44to understand, right? Like this is what it is and this
- 1:05:48is what this is, you know? And as long as the upper echelon
- 1:05:52schools, that choose to go that route, as long as they keep
- 1:05:56doing that those slots are not going to be there.
- 1:06:00And yeah, so that's I think it'll hurt temporarily, but I
- 1:06:05think we will get back to what it should be.
- 1:06:14Go for it. Glide, go for it.
- 1:06:16Like I agree a lot with what the governor said, I think your
- 1:06:21hierarchy breakdown is spot-on. I'm not sure if I agree in it
- 1:06:30and chewy if you tell me, you have the stats, I'll accept it.
- 1:06:34I'm not really sure. I agree with the idea that
- 1:06:36there's a uptick in international recruiting.
- 1:06:40I've always seen Internationals all over place in the NCAA Is
- 1:06:46there, you know, significantly more of them now than 10 years
- 1:06:50ago or 20 years ago, I have absolutely no idea when I'm
- 1:06:53gonna, I'll interject Clyde. What I will say, is that the
- 1:06:57blueprint, the, the footprint Is Jang gwang larger?
- 1:07:05It's much larger, right? That that's what I was going to
- 1:07:07say. I think I think it is.
- 1:07:09No there was no place in the world that is not being truant,
- 1:07:15you know? And it looked at now, right?
- 1:07:17And that's that's where I was gonna go with it.
- 1:07:20If anything, I think the the reach of where we get these
- 1:07:25people from has expanded. Yeah.
- 1:07:28And they are, they meaning the international athletes are Or
- 1:07:33open to going to a Litany of different programs.
- 1:07:37Now, I think social media and the ease at which you can get
- 1:07:42access to people has a lot to do with that.
- 1:07:45Yes. But I also I also think that a
- 1:07:48lot more people may have realized that you know this.
- 1:07:51So if I want to do this running thing, the NCAA systems are
- 1:07:56pretty damn good breeding ground for whatever it is.
- 1:07:58My next step is going to be and and it is the best farm system
- 1:08:05of all professional sports period.
- 1:08:07I can't even close NCAA track. And field is the best base layer
- 1:08:13into whatever your pro Endeavor is, yeah.
- 1:08:18And so is it hurting the development of American
- 1:08:24athletes? No, I don't think so.
- 1:08:28The transfer portal is hurting the development of American kids
- 1:08:32to be recruited because of what the governor said more, people
- 1:08:38are inclined to go. Find the ready, the Venom even
- 1:08:42commodity in the transfer portal rather than take a chance on me.
- 1:08:45Quote, unquote developmental kid out of High school and that
- 1:08:50sucks. But it's also smart business.
- 1:08:54And so if, you know, someone like myself right now, I look at
- 1:09:01that landscape and and I see everybody trending in this
- 1:09:05direction. So, my brain is like, damn that.
- 1:09:07I'm going to go the other way because there's always an
- 1:09:10opportunity to get a leg up, right?
- 1:09:13And so I think if coaches can be a little bit more creative.
- 1:09:18And aren't necessarily scared of the work, you know, because we
- 1:09:22all don't have, you know, a line of people that we get to turn
- 1:09:26away every year and portal shopping is fun and exciting but
- 1:09:31it's also you know, very hit and miss dangerous Endeavor.
- 1:09:37And so I can't say it's hurting the development of the American
- 1:09:42athlete in our sport because last I checked were still turned
- 1:09:45out a ton of highly-touted Highly respectable highly
- 1:09:51talented American kids every year.
- 1:09:53Like there's the new hot American in a multiple multiple
- 1:09:56disciplines disciplines. So I don't think it's hurting
- 1:09:59that. I just think it's I think
- 1:10:01there's more people invited to the party of being good quickly
- 1:10:04now and that looks like it makes the landscape more difficult to
- 1:10:09navigate and it probably is. But at the end of the day when
- 1:10:13it does, settles still got the same five or six programs fight.
- 1:10:18It out for NCAA championships every year, right?
- 1:10:20Yes. So you know, well, I mean the
- 1:10:24rich, the rich are always going to get, is always going to eat
- 1:10:26first. This is how that works, of
- 1:10:28course. So it's so I'm not going to be a
- 1:10:35contrarian. I'm just going to shine a light
- 1:10:38to a different section. I agree with everything that's
- 1:10:43been said about. the portal and the age of athletes, and all of
- 1:10:48that on the track, but I have felt for the last 10 years that
- 1:10:57the recruitment of international athletes has severely
- 1:11:02handicapped. The development chain of
- 1:11:07American Technical event athletes.
- 1:11:13Because to take a very gifted high-school boy, for instance,
- 1:11:18who's jump 215 and spend the money necessary to get him.
- 1:11:26And the time necessary to coach him that you 25 and above
- 1:11:31doesn't make any sense. When you can find any number of
- 1:11:34international kids who have jumped to 23 or 221, and they
- 1:11:40may be two years older. But they now have the same
- 1:11:42eligibility as a high school kid.
- 1:11:44And so in the technical events, the high jump, the pole vault,
- 1:11:50The discus, the javelin, mostly the field events.
- 1:11:55It is without question I think suppressing and shrinking our
- 1:12:01pool of athletes in both genders only because I mean I hate to be
- 1:12:09glib but like in Clyde's words like it's just it's good
- 1:12:12business. At the end of the day, if I'm
- 1:12:14making six figures and I'm the head coach of a power 5 team,
- 1:12:17like nobody's going to give me credit for winning a national
- 1:12:20championship with All-American kids.
- 1:12:22I don't get like I don't get extra.
- 1:12:24Points, do you know what I mean? Like, they only going to give me
- 1:12:27my check and they're only going to give me my credit for winning
- 1:12:29the national championship. If they're all International
- 1:12:32All-American, half-and-half, 80/20, literally, nobody cares.
- 1:12:38And so at the end of the day, if you're the best program in the
- 1:12:41country, you're going to recruit and sign, the very best kids,
- 1:12:46you can get. And it doesn't even make any
- 1:12:49sense to turn away. A South African kid who has run.
- 1:12:5445:12, you know, as opposed to a high school kid who's run 4605
- 1:13:01not saying that you that that kids not really good but if you
- 1:13:05only got one scholarship and you get only going to get one of
- 1:13:07them, of course, you're going to take the better kid and and
- 1:13:10that's in the in the combined events to get me.
- 1:13:14The climates in a feel events, the gap between what's available
- 1:13:18internationally and what's available nationally is much
- 1:13:21larger, Much much much larger and its biggest its biggest in
- 1:13:27the throes oh no doubt, International Javelin
- 1:13:31International shot International disc in certainly International
- 1:13:35Hammer. They're just they're just a
- 1:13:37better by end of story. They have fewer moving parts,
- 1:13:43right? Like the high school implements
- 1:13:44that we throw on the lightest. So if you get an international
- 1:13:48it's throwing Junior implements, those implements are still
- 1:13:51closer to the implements. We throw in college, then the
- 1:13:53high school kids with the 16 and the and the 12 pound.
- 1:13:57So, like at the end of the day, like that just makes sense and
- 1:14:02it's caused the whole lot of of American throwers.
- 1:14:10And Eric in technical inventors to have to rethink things,
- 1:14:17right? Like to go to non-power Five
- 1:14:20schools that will give them money and the time and develop
- 1:14:23them. And so in some ways it has
- 1:14:25broadened the landscape, you know, that mean there are some
- 1:14:30really good kids at some places that didn't used to be.
- 1:14:32But the funny thing is, as was mentioned earlier, those kids,
- 1:14:35those schools have money too, you know, I mean, Princeton had
- 1:14:41to International pole vaulters in the top five at the national
- 1:14:45meet They 12 right now. Right.
- 1:14:50And so like at the end. What?
- 1:14:51Why? I mean, if they're smart enough
- 1:14:53to get into Princeton why wouldn't I take them?
- 1:14:57I mean it just is what it is. So for the stats, one in ten
- 1:15:05athletes, in the NCAA are international.
- 1:15:09One is interesting learning, but that's, that's not in track,
- 1:15:13that's in all of the sports in all of sports, I'm saying in all
- 1:15:17of sports, Nicole Athletics. Okay.
- 1:15:19So that number changed precipitously from 10 years ago.
- 1:15:2320 years ago, I can't get that info rapidly, but when the
- 1:15:28biggest problem I have with that is the vast majority of the
- 1:15:31biggest teams on. Every campus is football, and
- 1:15:34the vast majority of those people are Americans.
- 1:15:37Well, so can without so much digging what is the most
- 1:15:43internationally populated Sport and then see a a question mark.
- 1:15:48I've been going to say women's golf.
- 1:15:53Women's tennis is a Golf and Tennis Golf and Golf and Tennis
- 1:15:57are usually all International. I didn't know American Kids on
- 1:16:00the team. Soper the internet says tennis.
- 1:16:04Yeah, so I mean things to consider well and something that
- 1:16:09I mean being new to this first world problem is how many of
- 1:16:15these International students have handlers like the jitan It
- 1:16:19handlers, right? Like it's not just the that
- 1:16:23Email that you get with a lot of letters dot-org.
- 1:16:25That's a former International athlete that's now representing
- 1:16:28like no. These are like people that you
- 1:16:31go to and that people in both directions go to student
- 1:16:36athletes as well. Whatever you know who filter and
- 1:16:40it's like and and you I mean, we all get the emails that These
- 1:16:46International athletes. I can all have said want to go
- 1:16:49to the best training system which is the n-c-double-a to
- 1:16:54have the better facilities to have them more knowledgeable
- 1:16:57coaches and this that and the third rubber fish a words or
- 1:17:01phrases that we want to get thrown at our thrown me for an
- 1:17:03email. But I mean, whether this is the
- 1:17:08new Norm, whether there's an inclined define, whether it was
- 1:17:11Prior, or it's going to be in the latter, It's a thing.
- 1:17:18So let's let's let's you know, I mean I'm not going to get
- 1:17:23Technical. But let's look at the javelin.
- 1:17:27Okay, how many states? Are allowing High School
- 1:17:34gentleman in the United States. Many Alabama has, it wasn't like
- 1:17:4015. Say five Idaho, Louisiana, Maine
- 1:17:44Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York.
- 1:17:49North Dakota Oregon, Pennsylvania.
- 1:17:52South Dakota. Utah, Vermont, Washington, and
- 1:17:55Wyoming. That's way more.
- 1:17:57You hear California in there. No, your Florida in there.
- 1:18:02Florida has it. Now, Florida has one of those
- 1:18:04happening the other Texas. Right.
- 1:18:08So you talking about some of the most Talent Rich States right in
- 1:18:14the entire country that don't even allow this right, right?
- 1:18:19What state is it just started allowing the for hurdles is a
- 1:18:23Florida Florida Florida getting I can't wait.
- 1:18:37That's part of the challenge as a recruiter, right?
- 1:18:43You're looking at a female form to meet a hurdler from Estonia.
- 1:18:48Right, that has run multiple 400 meter hurdle races in her life
- 1:18:54and then you have a 300 meter hurdle.
- 1:18:56ER That can run the quad decent quarter but there's still that
- 1:19:02aspect of okay, what happens when you add 500, what's going
- 1:19:06to happen there? And you don't know, you don't
- 1:19:09know the answer to that question, right?
- 1:19:12So there are certain areas that feel like, you know, I think the
- 1:19:16US has hamstrung itself, you know, for whatever reason why
- 1:19:20they don't choose to do these events, don't choose to allow
- 1:19:24these events in high school. And they just so happens.
- 1:19:29I mean, think about what Mississippi state did in the
- 1:19:34javelin on the men's side, and what it did for that program at
- 1:19:40the national meet one event, right?
- 1:19:45And where did they go? They had to go around the globe
- 1:19:48and find Was it three or four of them is like 33 for sure?
- 1:19:55Right. So I mean, kudos to them.
- 1:19:59I mean, are you going to? Are we going to argue with that,
- 1:20:02right? I mean, the that Legacy is
- 1:20:05already there, you know? So yes, it does hurt.
- 1:20:10Yeah, I think it does hurt, absolutely.
- 1:20:14But As long as their teams out there that are trying to win and
- 1:20:18they're trying to win. Now, they're going to be looking
- 1:20:21at that Quick Fix, You know, and whether they can keep that going
- 1:20:26after they have the success, that's a real litmus test.
- 1:20:31I mean, look, if anybody ever wondered like, whether what
- 1:20:36we're saying is true, like whether the world is being farm
- 1:20:41system in the Collegiate in our Collegiate system, one half of
- 1:20:46the final indoor 60-meter hurdles for women at World
- 1:20:50Championships competed in the NCAA and 1/3 of the of the
- 1:20:55heptathlon entrance compete in the SEC.
- 1:20:59So like at the end of the day, like the proof is obvious.
- 1:21:04Yes, right. We are without question
- 1:21:08training, everybody's people, right?
- 1:21:12And and the question then is, is like, is that an issue?
- 1:21:17But because I don't know how you change it because as long as
- 1:21:21they pay coaches to win coaches and athletes, Yeah.
- 1:21:29Yep. Well and they're definitely more
- 1:21:34layers to that, you know. So that was just the first stir
- 1:21:38the pot and I'm sure that's going to transform into a
- 1:21:42concept that we dissect even more as the year goes on.
- 1:21:50But with that being said, now I've got to take some shots and
- 1:21:55ask mr. Feel my pain to step in line.
- 1:21:59For Rapid Fire, and will kill somebody.
- 1:22:02Let me lock in. All right, I'm ready.
- 1:22:08Shortened, shortened question series, but I thought this was
- 1:22:11pretty, uh, to the point here so okay, mr.
- 1:22:17Intellectual. What is the next book on your
- 1:22:20list to read? Hmm, I'm going to try something
- 1:22:27that I've failed at in the past, but I'm going to simulcram read.
- 1:22:30I'm going to try to read two books shoe, dog.
- 1:22:36The Phil Knight Nike book and it takes what it takes.
- 1:22:44Who is the smartest person you ever met?
- 1:22:51Okay, intellectually smart sure. It's a tie, my knot, the
- 1:23:05wrestling coach at my high school taught our US history
- 1:23:11class without a book. And he was a finalist on
- 1:23:15Jeopardy. Yeah, hmm.
- 1:23:18So his name is Lance Rhoades he and Probably Randy hunting.
- 1:23:26Hmm, got it. Got it.
- 1:23:29Randy, Huntington hasn't, he has intimidating intelligence, you
- 1:23:33know? I mean like sometimes like
- 1:23:34seriously sometimes you if you engage yourself in The Wrong
- 1:23:37conversation with Randy you just don't feel smart anymore.
- 1:23:40Yeah, I mean, any spending all this time in China?
- 1:23:45Does that not make them Superior?
- 1:23:48I'm just kidding, just kidding, he's really weren't kidding.
- 1:23:52But like right, right. You just can't They're like,
- 1:23:57okay, I'll just simply jumps all over there.
- 1:24:00Yeah, that was funny. Which campus is your favorite
- 1:24:07that you've worked at? So not Athletics, not track and
- 1:24:10field, which campus? That is very easy, the
- 1:24:16University of California. Oh my gosh, but the thing is,
- 1:24:22it's not even being a homer. Like, look, I can tell you right
- 1:24:24now. I can I can show you pictures of
- 1:24:28views from that campus and you're like, there's no shot
- 1:24:30that you get this view just by going to college here, like yes
- 1:24:34you do. I can show you three views of
- 1:24:37restaurants that you go to and that's the reason why you go
- 1:24:41through. Hey look, the food, the views,
- 1:24:47the school, All the Above. Gypsies in the burrito spot down
- 1:24:53the street. That's all you need to know all
- 1:24:55good. What is your current hurdle that
- 1:24:59you're trying to clear pun intended?
- 1:25:07Full disclosure. I want to lose 15 pounds.
- 1:25:14Guy. You just got thumbs up all the
- 1:25:21way around. Have you ever skydived?
- 1:25:26No, I do. I'm tired.
- 1:25:29I absolutely would have. And was all about that at some
- 1:25:33point. And my freshman year, one of my
- 1:25:36track and field team. Mates was on produce skydiving
- 1:25:39team and his chute failed to open and he died.
- 1:25:43And I thought to myself, if he does that for a living, so to
- 1:25:47speak and that could happen, no shot.
- 1:25:52Everybody should skydiving. And the thing is I like, I
- 1:25:55agree. Like I'm a, I'm a risk-taker and
- 1:25:58Adventure, but I can't get past that one.
- 1:26:02I just can't get like, like I would sooner bungee jumping
- 1:26:06skydiving even though they're, that's another, that's another
- 1:26:11non know. So, over the weekend, Lewis
- 1:26:18Hamilton. Both.
- 1:26:19Oh, And the race car driver F1? Yeah. 10 times one day.
- 1:26:29Guy died. Dude, it is no shot.
- 1:26:32Really. I mean I'm I'm I'm gearing up.
- 1:26:37I want to do it. It's on my bucket list but 10
- 1:26:41times, you know whoosh one time. I think I do I think I do want
- 1:26:47to do it once I got like I said I wanted to do it and then that
- 1:26:51happened. So I think maybe I'm a maybe I
- 1:26:54should not know me and stir the shit.
- 1:26:59All your stuff at the ground. We got all your bags.
- 1:27:02We got your shoe. Look, I'm a be there for you,
- 1:27:04bro. I'll bring you back.
- 1:27:07I'll make sure you got some water when you haterade and I
- 1:27:10mean I will take you to eat after you get back but I'm not.
- 1:27:13Alright, I will go with y'all. I've done it.
- 1:27:16It's phenomenal. I would go with her.
- 1:27:19Felix, just I got the drip. Drop.
- 1:27:20You got the water we're good. There you go.
- 1:27:22I got all the pictures camera. I'm good, but I'm not going up
- 1:27:27there. The thing that seems like so
- 1:27:30ridiculously dangerous, but oh my God, looks like so much.
- 1:27:34Fun is a, the base jumping with the wingsuits.
- 1:27:38Oh dude, that mean like scooting?
- 1:27:40Yeah, my bad. That looks like Life is a bird.
- 1:27:46Yes. But see, you have to actually
- 1:27:47know what you're doing is. That's why I said yes.
- 1:27:50I said it looks amazing. I know shot.
- 1:27:54And I know. Okay, last question and then
- 1:27:57it's a gentleman's turn. Where will you never go again?
- 1:28:04So many places loaded God, that is a truly loaded question.
- 1:28:10Um, Look. It's low-hanging fruit but I
- 1:28:18probably don't ever need to go to Russia again.
- 1:28:21Amen. I can rock with you on that one.
- 1:29:04But I only want to do it if I can go and stay in the Louvre
- 1:29:07because the rest of Paris you could keep I've been to Paris
- 1:29:12like seven times I promise you. I don't I got there's nothing
- 1:29:15there that I want to see other than the Louvre so folks that
- 1:29:19are watching. Okay.
- 1:29:21So does that mean absolute them? It was subtle flecks.
- 1:29:23First of all, no because most of it was track, right?
- 1:29:27So like it's just a second I've been to Paris like seven times.
- 1:29:33But I've seen the same five things.
- 1:29:35All seven times, we got to put your hands on your shoulders.
- 1:29:55It's easy to read books and Paris is for Lovers.
- 1:29:58Yes, awful, go see it for yourself.
- 1:30:03Sydney, I've been to Paris and I would agree not seven times.
- 1:30:08But anyway, um, I would agree that it's a little bit
- 1:30:11overrated. Look, you wanted to put that out
- 1:30:14there, you love that after. I've been to Paris like seven
- 1:30:16times, I will cosign the sentiment.
- 1:30:20I've only been twice and five less than the Marsden there.
- 1:30:25You know. It was very pretty.
- 1:30:28Pretty. So the sun was out while we were
- 1:30:30there. I was like, what were you up in
- 1:30:33the air on? The ground is not pretty at all.
- 1:30:50Really, really dive into the Louvre.
- 1:30:52And like, yes, I'm kind of an art nerd.
- 1:30:54And yes, all of the, all of the real live history.
- 1:30:58And all of the conspiracy theory things that that would just dig
- 1:31:02up within my brain within the Louvre are worth it.
- 1:31:05And I want to go, but I promise you if there was a way I could
- 1:31:10go and go straight to the Louvre, do what I had to do and
- 1:31:14leave, I would. Okay, so I'm gonna get off that
- 1:31:18train and I want you to very quick quick, very rapidly.
- 1:31:25Yes, put together your The best men's for by 14, you can put
- 1:31:31together in your attractive since you've been involved in
- 1:31:34track and field first tank rapidly sir.
- 1:31:40I know. I know, I know in order.
- 1:31:53Rai Benjamin. Quincy Watts.
- 1:32:00Michael Johnson. No, wait Van niekerk Michael
- 1:32:10Johnson. He asked for a Collegiate for
- 1:32:28don't ask me that same question for by one because I'll fight.
- 1:32:31No, I'm not doing that. Glad what you got
- 1:32:47I got a question for him. I got one too.
- 1:32:50Oh boy, yes. I call this like a domino game,
- 1:32:56right? Because hires be getting new
- 1:32:58situation, right? Who wins an NCAA Championship
- 1:33:04men or women first UGA or USC. If you maybe the pettiest never
- 1:33:16met, Molly are the most incredible.
- 1:33:24That is a great question. And that's a horrible question,
- 1:33:28you know? And I think you guys know me,
- 1:33:31well enough to know that I usually swim right by the bait.
- 1:33:36I'm gonna I'm gonna bite this bait.
- 1:33:38That's it. I'm all right with this one.
- 1:33:40USC, probably. Not close.
- 1:33:43All right. Alright, Lamar.
- 1:33:49You're given an unlimited budget, put together your dream
- 1:33:53staff. Also an awful question.
- 1:34:00No. Is that okay?
- 1:34:02That's not an awful question? Compared to the pettiness of
- 1:34:05you. So nice try.
- 1:34:08So you don't deflect sir. You knew it.
- 1:34:10You've been what you were cooking out of the whole time
- 1:34:14literally came to me as I was sitting here, I had no question
- 1:34:19is when you got that. Okay, let's hear a little more
- 1:34:26dreams. Oh, I'm gonna, I'm gonna
- 1:34:29probably disappoint the world with this one.
- 1:34:31I'm going to take the five people on this town.
- 1:34:33These tiles and add Brian blue tree.
- 1:34:37So but you're missing one is supposed to be six.
- 1:34:40I said the five people on these tiles and add Brian blue trick.
- 1:34:44Yeah, but humans are you get six underneath you?
- 1:34:49Oh, I get another one. I get an extra key.
- 1:34:52Yeah. All right.
- 1:34:53I just yeah. Your direction.
- 1:34:55Extra director. Okay.
- 1:34:57I have an extra because last I checked no one on this.
- 1:34:59That no one on your staff really wants to coach distance.
- 1:35:02We're not going to have any distances.
- 1:35:05Okay. Going to have 30.6 scholarships
- 1:35:10in the speed and power of. It's okay.
- 1:35:12Okay, why not? It's look, it's a model.
- 1:35:15It's doable. Arkansas does without throws,
- 1:35:19right? Just pick a thing.
- 1:35:20You're not going to do and go dominate the rest.
- 1:35:25Yeah, no. Because the thing is, if I'm, if
- 1:35:27I'm the director, that means, I can't coach.
- 1:35:29Hmm. You know, you don't know.
- 1:35:30I'm coaching We're taking us five and blue and, and we're
- 1:35:38gonna go speed and power and more speed, and more power.
- 1:35:43Hmm. I was a good round.
- 1:35:51That was a good route but so I feel like you guys always bring
- 1:35:54the best for me. Like if I don't, I don't know
- 1:35:56what that's about. I don't know if I should feel
- 1:35:58honored or if I should feel like a Target.
- 1:36:02Well at least you don't get this fugazi disability.
- 1:36:05I get I appreciated your question sir.
- 1:36:09Lucius that was a especially with the pressure of answering
- 1:36:13rapidly. Oh my god.
- 1:36:17Well because I was definitely I was prone to achoo ISM if you
- 1:36:21ask me to do it really fast, right?
- 1:36:22I could have left somebody out real fast.
- 1:36:27I feel like y'all give me softball rabbit back to you.
- 1:36:29Don't want me to. We definitely try to keep you
- 1:36:33from acting up. That's for sure.
- 1:36:34Yes, we do. Like will never ask you a
- 1:36:37question like you just ask me. Oh, never in a million years, no
- 1:36:41shot. Oh man, oh man, oh man, all
- 1:36:46right, well, let's give some Kudos, some love some heartbeat
- 1:36:50props to those out there in The Ether who need it or have that.
- 1:36:55Don't know that they need it and we need to give it to them and
- 1:36:58so lucious is ready to go. So let's go.
- 1:37:00So I'd like to make a suggestion that we just this week harpies
- 1:37:04props. Come from all of us.
- 1:37:06We didn't we neglected to talk about this during the track is
- 1:37:09back but a guy that's been near and dear to the sport and a guy
- 1:37:14that has been a head coach for a long time is retiring called
- 1:37:18coach Ralph Sprite that I Dawber University and I just I think
- 1:37:22our hardship the harpy probably should come from all over.
- 1:37:25Us and, you know, wishing well well and his next Endeavor in
- 1:37:29life. But also Kudos on a fantastic
- 1:37:31career at the University of Auckland smaller University
- 1:37:34where he goes and all that other stuff that they do down there.
- 1:37:37Absolutely here here here. How long has it been there?
- 1:37:4120, 25 years. 25 years. Yeah.
- 1:37:45Yeah. So great career.
- 1:37:46Won a national title. National runner-up with men, I
- 1:37:50think order placed with them in a couple times and He had a
- 1:37:54great run. It's done a great job in Florida
- 1:37:57before that. Right love.
- 1:37:59Is that South Carolina before that employed before it sets a
- 1:38:02floor and he's all Miss graph almost grabbed by the great
- 1:38:08grilled squid, the great Joe Walker.
- 1:38:11Hmm, he's one hell of a hell of a fisherman from what I've Been
- 1:38:14Told. He's quite the singular.
- 1:38:19He loves to fish and he's not here apparently.
- 1:38:21Not too bad of a boulder that we've had some pretty good both
- 1:38:24sessions. I think we've got a bowling
- 1:38:26league getting ready. Absolutely.
- 1:38:28We have a little doubt about that.
- 1:38:30I mean like it's From what I understand, I've been told how
- 1:38:35frustrating golf is for folks. So that's why I refuse to play
- 1:38:38it. And if it's more frustrating
- 1:38:40than bowling, I'm definitely never going to play it.
- 1:38:42But the good thing about what bowling is your inside.
- 1:38:45So the gulf you don't have to get to deal with the heat, the
- 1:38:47element. So I'm going to say it's our
- 1:38:49bowling but maybe I'll get round to come.
- 1:38:51Visit me here in Gainesville and bowl a little bit.
- 1:38:53With what's stopping us from having a bowling tournament at
- 1:38:57the convention? Absolutely nothing.
- 1:39:00Nothing. You know what we need to do
- 1:39:02though? Had the idea.
- 1:39:04We have a Wii bowling league. Oh my gosh, on the on the
- 1:39:11machine and then we are to no girly thing you've ever said.
- 1:39:22I was totally untrue. Like I mean, come on, you're
- 1:39:26not, it's not at all, you know. Listen.
- 1:39:39And we you are one of the most intelligent people that we all
- 1:39:43know, but every now and again there's like a like a glitch in
- 1:39:47the system and you just don't think things through and they
- 1:39:51just word vomit out. And then you see them and we're
- 1:39:53like she didn't say that. Nope, she did.
- 1:39:57Oh no, you got to work with me. I'm gonna set the limit coach
- 1:40:01enters. It happens once a day, this be
- 1:40:04the greatest Olympic Village that I've ever been in.
- 1:40:08Was a 92 in Barcelona and you know why?
- 1:40:11They had a bowling alley in the village.
- 1:40:15Here you go. Yeah, so yeah.
- 1:40:19So yeah, we got this new. This new football slowly going
- 1:40:22up and it's right next to the track.
- 1:40:25There's a bowling alley in there.
- 1:40:27I might be, I know, I know. I'm gonna be honest.
- 1:40:33Yeah, we're Sports Holloway for practice getting about the
- 1:40:35bowling alley. Oh man.
- 1:40:41All right, all right. Please take please.
- 1:40:43Please take our our our flowers with you into your wonderful
- 1:40:49world of retirement. Whenever that day actually comes

- 1:42:09You got a small heads prevail when your backbone strong.
- 1:42:13Gotta keep it mama. No won't last long.
- 1:42:16Pastor felt instead of the session and if you don't check
- 1:42:20yourself and that's wrong just trying to give you the real
