- 1:20Speaker 1: Welcome to The Favorites, the podcast from the Volume Podcast Network.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I am Chad Milman, Chief Content Officer of the Action Network.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Big Big Show. We're talking NFL free agency. We got
- 1:32Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson stuff to discuss, Daniel Jones signing to discuss.
- 1:37Speaker 1: We are going to bring them possibly someone who holds
- 1:42Speaker 1: both ventricles in my heart. He is my nemesis and
- 1:46Speaker 1: yet I love him like a brother. Chris Raybunds coming
- 1:49Speaker 1: on the show in a little bit. But before we
- 1:51Speaker 1: get to that, I gotta bring on my bff, my companion,
- 1:54Speaker 1: MIKEA and Padre professional Better Simon Hunter. Hello, Swiman, How
- 2:02Speaker 1: you feeling, buddy at doing good? Brother? Saw a couple
- 2:06Speaker 1: of whales yesterday from the beach. Life is good here
- 2:09Speaker 1: in Hawaii. Oh did you really? Yeah? Humpbacks baby like
- 2:17Speaker 1: uh yeah, Like literally, if you go a hundred yards
- 2:20Speaker 1: out from the beach, the shelf drops five hundred feet,
- 2:25Speaker 1: So apparently that's why they come to Hawaii to have
- 2:27Speaker 1: their babies, and a little fun effect about a baby
- 2:30Speaker 1: humpback whale. It is born at fifteen feet three thousand
- 2:34Speaker 1: pounds and can already jump out of the water, which
- 2:37Speaker 1: is pretty mind boggling to me when you think of humans,
- 2:40Speaker 1: we take about eighteen years to be raised. Baby humpback
- 2:44Speaker 1: whale takes like four months. So um yeah, pretty cool,
- 2:48Speaker 1: just chill on the beach seeing giant whale is bigger
- 2:50Speaker 1: than school balls is to jump out of the water.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So it's been pretty cool. If that baby humpback whale
- 2:56Speaker 1: lived in New York, every other parent would be looked
- 3:00Speaker 1: at their kids and wondering, why can't my kid jump
- 3:03Speaker 1: out of the water as soon as it's born and
- 3:06Speaker 1: be fifteen feet and three thousand pounds. That's what would happen.
- 3:10Speaker 1: That's true. I really enjoyed our podcast with Michael Lasker
- 3:16Speaker 1: on the other day about the oscars. I got a
- 3:19Speaker 1: lot of back about it, and I feel like I've
- 3:24Speaker 1: become really interested potentially in not not betting on everything
- 3:33Speaker 1: everywhere all at once for best Picture, and because I
- 3:37Speaker 1: think there could be some split voting and I think
- 3:40Speaker 1: it could end up being top gun which would make
- 3:42Speaker 1: me really really happy. And listen, I bring it up because,
- 3:46Speaker 1: oh my god, I bring it up because because Chris Raybon,
- 3:50Speaker 1: who I introduced before, who is analyst extraordinaire for Action, NFL, NBA,
- 3:58Speaker 1: but also Oscars Crazy Him and Colin Wilson do a
- 4:03Speaker 1: ridiculously good Oscars podcast which came out this week. And
- 4:07Speaker 1: now he's laughing at me. When I said I want
- 4:09Speaker 1: Top Gun to win the split vote category for the
- 4:12Speaker 1: Best Picture, such a such a boomer comment, chat like
- 4:15Speaker 1: that was, that is such a boomer movie, bro. Like
- 4:18Speaker 1: I'm not even like I'm I'm I'm thirty five, so
- 4:21Speaker 1: whatever you want to think of that, but like, that's
- 4:23Speaker 1: such a boomer comment that that movie was. It was
- 4:25Speaker 1: a lot better than expected, but it was still corny
- 4:28Speaker 1: as hell. Um, it's not it's not win Investenture, bro,
- 4:31Speaker 1: Like it's not the only thing I think has a
- 4:34Speaker 1: fighting chance. It's probably Banshees. But the thing about it
- 4:37Speaker 1: is everything everywhere was just they were just more of it.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Like it was just longer, it was had more acting us.
- 4:43Speaker 1: It's just it's just better but good. It's not stop it.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Like I keep hearing these comments Top Gun's gonna win this.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Top Gun's gonna winnas it's it's it's because people, the
- 4:53Speaker 1: oscars have alienated the younger generations, and so most of
- 4:56Speaker 1: the people writing these articles are boomers. No offense, but
- 5:00Speaker 1: like it's just damn I'm not with that. I'm not
- 5:03Speaker 1: with that at all. I Hard disagree there, Chad hard disagreed.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Number one. Number one. I love the band Cheese. Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Probably my favorite movies this year, I would say were
- 5:18Speaker 1: The Menu, Top Gun and Banshees Number one. Number two.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I'm jen X fucker, Okay, I know, but we don't boomers.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Boomers is pretty much everybody. That's like, like some people
- 5:32Speaker 1: could call me a boomer for certain things. It's just
- 5:34Speaker 1: like it's it's beyond the generations. You know what's a
- 5:36Speaker 1: real boomer comment though, saying I'm gen X buddy, you
- 5:42Speaker 1: know what this is? Love you. I don't know why
- 5:44Speaker 1: the fuck we have rabon on this goddamn podcast. I've
- 5:48Speaker 1: had such a nice piece of a few weeks post
- 5:51Speaker 1: NFL season, and now we got to bring them back.
- 5:53Speaker 1: There's a lot to discuss. As I mentioned, Lamar Jackson
- 5:58Speaker 1: uh non exclusive franchise tag. The Ravens are and I
- 6:03Speaker 1: want to start there, and obviously we're going to talk
- 6:05Speaker 1: about this from a why should you care? From a
- 6:08Speaker 1: betting point of view, the Ravens historically one of the
- 6:13Speaker 1: smartest franchises from an executive point of view, generally outside
- 6:18Speaker 1: of wide receivers, made great draft picks, made a great,
- 6:21Speaker 1: great trade in the middle of the season for linebacking
- 6:27Speaker 1: help from the Bears. So they're playing this Lamar Jackson thing.
- 6:31Speaker 1: They've made him an offer. Lamar Jackson wants all guaranteed money.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Like Deshaun Watson. They have non exclusive franchise to him,
- 6:39Speaker 1: meaning any team can make him an offer, and either
- 6:41Speaker 1: the Ravens get a bunch of picks or they can
- 6:43Speaker 1: match the offer. They're they're basically playing chicken with the
- 6:47Speaker 1: guy and saying, we don't think you'll get the guaranteed
- 6:49Speaker 1: offer you're looking for, raven Let me start with you,
- 6:54Speaker 1: do we think the Ravens are putting themselves in a
- 6:56Speaker 1: position to be a really good bet for futures betters?
- 7:02Speaker 1: I honestly don't think I do. I do, but I
- 7:05Speaker 1: don't think much is really I mean, the Ravens are,
- 7:07Speaker 1: but that's more because the Ravens are always good. But
- 7:09Speaker 1: like I remember last year, Stucky and I were talking
- 7:12Speaker 1: like the Ravens are probably the best value on the board.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Now it didn't work out. We know what happened down
- 7:16Speaker 1: the stretch. They collapsed and they had to fumble and
- 7:19Speaker 1: all that. But I really think that this is just
- 7:23Speaker 1: a natural part of the negotiations because it makes sense.
- 7:27Speaker 1: It kind of makes sense for both sides, but the Ravens,
- 7:28Speaker 1: it's like, we had our number. We're not going past
- 7:31Speaker 1: it in terms of the guaranteed money, but we do
- 7:33Speaker 1: want to keep you here. So you know, if you
- 7:36Speaker 1: think that we're, you know, kind of trying to lowball you, Okay,
- 7:43Speaker 1: here's the here's the market. We'll let you test it
- 7:45Speaker 1: with the with the protection, knowing that we either can
- 7:49Speaker 1: now match it or get something back in return. So
- 7:51Speaker 1: I don't think it's actually I don't think it's as
- 7:53Speaker 1: contentious as the media is making it out to be.
- 7:55Speaker 1: What I think is is that most people writing about
- 7:58Speaker 1: this they've never been in a situation where they're and
- 8:01Speaker 1: most people haven't where they're negotiating for this kind of money,
- 8:04Speaker 1: especially without an agent, and so it's like everyone's kind
- 8:07Speaker 1: of mixing the business with the person or where it's like,
- 8:10Speaker 1: this is what's gonna happen in a negotiation when you
- 8:12Speaker 1: represent yourself, It's gonna it's gonna seem a little uglier
- 8:15Speaker 1: than it really is. But I just think this is
- 8:16Speaker 1: a natural part of negotiations, and I think one of
- 8:19Speaker 1: the interesting things in Simon. I wonder if you kind
- 8:21Speaker 1: of noticed this too. But I'm seeing most books post
- 8:24Speaker 1: odds Lamar's next team, if not the Ravens. What does
- 8:28Speaker 1: that tell me that books are just trying to break
- 8:30Speaker 1: in all this money from all these long shots we're
- 8:32Speaker 1: in reality, I still think the Ravens are the most
- 8:35Speaker 1: likely outcome. I do, so. I just noticed that, like
- 8:38Speaker 1: a lot of books weren't posting the Ravens as an
- 8:40Speaker 1: option on that list of the other teams. I wonder
- 8:43Speaker 1: I wonder if you kind of notice that as well. Yeah,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I would say the most interesting to me about the
- 8:49Speaker 1: Solomar thing is how sensitive people are to it. They're like,
- 8:52Speaker 1: they can't get over that they made this deal. And
- 8:55Speaker 1: it's just I feel, like what you said, off the
- 8:57Speaker 1: tops of perfect things, it's the Ravens. If there's an
- 8:59Speaker 1: organism you should trust and value what they're doing they're
- 9:03Speaker 1: the team, so nothing, to me is that shocking. There's
- 9:06Speaker 1: a reason this guy was the thirty second pick and
- 9:08Speaker 1: all these teams passed. Though. I think there's so many
- 9:11Speaker 1: gms that are just I don't want to say old
- 9:13Speaker 1: white guys, but it feels that way where they're just like, no,
- 9:16Speaker 1: I want the six five guy that stands in the
- 9:18Speaker 1: pocket and throws the ball down the field. I don't
- 9:20Speaker 1: want the six two speedster that can run around the
- 9:23Speaker 1: field and potentially get hurt. So people are like, oh,
- 9:27Speaker 1: who are these teams that not want Lamar a guy
- 9:29Speaker 1: who's won the MVP. You have to change your entire
- 9:32Speaker 1: offense to fit his scheme, so it's not that shocking
- 9:36Speaker 1: the most The more shocking part to me is that
- 9:39Speaker 1: he's a good deal right now if you do, all
- 9:41Speaker 1: you have to do is give up two first round
- 9:43Speaker 1: picks and pay him. I know it sounds like a
- 9:45Speaker 1: lot when you compare it to what someone just gave
- 9:47Speaker 1: it Russell Wilson, it feels like a really good deal
- 9:49Speaker 1: when you compared to what someone just gave it DeShawn
- 9:51Speaker 1: Watson after the guy hadn't done anything in two years,
- 9:54Speaker 1: it feels like a good deal. So I'm with him
- 9:56Speaker 1: from that standpoint, but I'm from the standpoint of the GM.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I don't know how I do here. It's a guy
- 10:01Speaker 1: who's been injured in two back to back season. He's
- 10:03Speaker 1: been injured. He's one and three in the playoffs, and
- 10:06Speaker 1: you can go back and watch that film the teams.
- 10:08Speaker 1: When you get to the playoffs, it's a lot easier
- 10:10Speaker 1: scheme against the guy that's kind of a one trick pony.
- 10:13Speaker 1: And as much I heard to say Lamar is a
- 10:15Speaker 1: one trick pony, he hasn't had the throwing down field
- 10:18Speaker 1: to make me compident that he can lead by passing
- 10:20Speaker 1: where it's always been the legs and the deception and
- 10:23Speaker 1: the fourth and two, the fourth and one runs. That
- 10:26Speaker 1: kind of takes him to a different level compared to
- 10:28Speaker 1: the guys. So, just standing from a distance chat, I
- 10:32Speaker 1: don't know really what to make of this shit. It's
- 10:34Speaker 1: the same thing as these jets, odds, these numbers have
- 10:36Speaker 1: moved just off here saying rumors, and you know, Lamar,
- 10:41Speaker 1: I can't see him leaving. It doesn't make sense that
- 10:43Speaker 1: you would leave. But the offer they made to him
- 10:45Speaker 1: was you want to see what you want, you want
- 10:48Speaker 1: to see what your value is. Because you don't have
- 10:49Speaker 1: any agent, We're gonna show it to you. We'll let
- 10:51Speaker 1: you take this tag and anyone can make you an
- 10:54Speaker 1: offer now. So to me, the Ravens played it perfectly.
- 10:58Speaker 1: They kind of they know the guys. I'm an agent.
- 11:00Speaker 1: They know the guy thinks he is way better and
- 11:02Speaker 1: more valued than he really is. Because they gave him
- 11:04Speaker 1: a good offer. You can go back and look. I
- 11:05Speaker 1: think they go offer him over two hundred million, one
- 11:07Speaker 1: hundred and thirty two of it was guaranteed. That's a
- 11:11Speaker 1: good deal. That was a good deal that they made
- 11:12Speaker 1: a little more. I think they kept in market value
- 11:14Speaker 1: with him, with Kyler Murray and other guys like that.
- 11:16Speaker 1: So I from a drama standpoint, yeah, it's interesting as
- 11:21Speaker 1: a as a football fan, but as a gambler, I
- 11:24Speaker 1: don't really know what to do it with a chat.
- 11:25Speaker 1: It's one of those where are like, yes, this time
- 11:27Speaker 1: of year, you should be all over the Ravens. You know,
- 11:29Speaker 1: they they won the division last year. We saw them
- 11:31Speaker 1: take it with a backup quarterback. They probably should have
- 11:33Speaker 1: beat the Bengals in Cinci with a backup QB. So
- 11:37Speaker 1: we love the Ravens. What are we supposed to do here,
- 11:40Speaker 1: because this is any team could step in right now
- 11:42Speaker 1: and make him an offer, and yes, the Ravens can
- 11:44Speaker 1: match it, but it isn't interesting they even left the
- 11:47Speaker 1: door open because we don't really see that right chat
- 11:48Speaker 1: in twenty twenty three, our franchise quarterback teams don't really
- 11:52Speaker 1: do this. So I think not having an agent it's
- 11:54Speaker 1: played into this whole thing where you know, we're seeing
- 11:57Speaker 1: some gms just being like, I don't want to change
- 11:59Speaker 1: my team. I don't deal with a guy who doesn't
- 12:01Speaker 1: even have an agent likes it's too much a headache.
- 12:03Speaker 1: So there's a lot of baggage cooler with this Lamar Jackson.
- 12:06Speaker 1: And once again, he's one in three in the playoffs.
- 12:09Speaker 1: That's a big deal to a lot of GM's out there.
- 12:11Speaker 1: So I think that's why people are trying to say
- 12:13Speaker 1: it's it's more than all of this. I don't think
- 12:15Speaker 1: it is. I think this is a lot of stuff
- 12:16Speaker 1: that these general managers are just weighing in right now
- 12:19Speaker 1: on because it's such a big deal to make this
- 12:21Speaker 1: kind of move for a quarterback like him. What you're
- 12:23Speaker 1: sayings one second, raybun Hold on one sec, I gotta
- 12:28Speaker 1: get in a read, okay, and I want people to know.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I want people to know because we've been talking about
- 12:34Speaker 1: game Time so much the past few episodes, which is
- 12:36Speaker 1: the fastest growing ticketing app in the US. I love it.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I use it all the time. If you're looking to
- 12:41Speaker 1: get out to a proer college game this week, or
- 12:43Speaker 1: even a concert. Game Time has amazing last minute deals
- 12:46Speaker 1: on tickets to all of these. I'm actually opening the
- 12:48Speaker 1: game Time app right now from my house. Here's what
- 12:51Speaker 1: I can see at MSG. It's big East Kilot basketball
- 12:54Speaker 1: tournament happening at MSG in New York City. Right now,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I can go see a game tonight less than a
- 12:59Speaker 1: hundred bucks. How easy is that? No matter where you live,
- 13:03Speaker 1: download the game Time app, get out and have some

- 13:13Speaker 1: for twenty dollars off. Download game Time today, last minute tickets,
- 13:16Speaker 1: lowest price guaranteed, Raybond Go. I was just gonna say,
- 13:20Speaker 1: you know, you talk about the gms. I think this
- 13:22Speaker 1: is I think this is owner driven. I think the
- 13:24Speaker 1: reason a lot of teams have come out and said
- 13:26Speaker 1: we're out on Lamar is essentially saying we're standing with
- 13:30Speaker 1: each other. We are not want we do not want
- 13:32Speaker 1: to make this the precedent. They view Watson as an outlier,
- 13:36Speaker 1: they view the Browns a stupid for doing that, and
- 13:38Speaker 1: they're saying, we're gonna help you out because remember, the
- 13:40Speaker 1: Ravens can match any offer if they want, you know.
- 13:44Speaker 1: So now it comes down, so okay, which owner is
- 13:46Speaker 1: gonna make that offer? And whatever owner makes that offer,
- 13:49Speaker 1: he's gonna be an outcast among the rest of the owners.
- 13:52Speaker 1: It's not just the Ravens are gonna be upset if
- 13:55Speaker 1: he makes If there's a massive offer that the Ravens
- 13:57Speaker 1: can't match, or it's fully guaranteed every already, other owners
- 14:00Speaker 1: probably or you know, twenty nine thirty other owners are
- 14:02Speaker 1: gonna be upset. So I think that's why we're hearing
- 14:05Speaker 1: about this now and everyone's kind of scratching their heads.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Oh my god, why would you be out on Lamar? Well, yeah,
- 14:09Speaker 1: because we don't want to pay Derek Carr that money
- 14:12Speaker 1: in a couple of years. We don't want to pay
- 14:13Speaker 1: Jimmy Garoppo that money in a couple of year. Look
- 14:15Speaker 1: at all these average quarterbacks that are gonna come You
- 14:18Speaker 1: look at Daniel Jones even right now, like imagine everyone's
- 14:20Speaker 1: asking imagine he asked for one hundred and sixty guarantee
- 14:23Speaker 1: instead of just you know what I mean. So that's
- 14:25Speaker 1: why we're hearing at and I think that's why the
- 14:27Speaker 1: media is so thrown off. Everyone's just like it's like,
- 14:31Speaker 1: what's really going on. We're not going to know about
- 14:33Speaker 1: until it's all said and done, and we may never
- 14:34Speaker 1: know about. But that's what's really going on. It's these
- 14:37Speaker 1: owners are not trying to play anyone this kind of money.
- 14:41Speaker 1: It's really interesting you say that, because I've seen that storyline.
- 14:45Speaker 1: It's kind of it's it's not collusion by letter of
- 14:49Speaker 1: the law, but it's collusion by letter of best interests
- 14:56Speaker 1: and what is good for business. And if you think
- 15:00Speaker 1: in the NFL there isn't some kind of whisper campaign
- 15:05Speaker 1: that happens amongst gms, My owner doesn't really want us
- 15:08Speaker 1: to make this deal. My owner, you know, like all
- 15:12Speaker 1: of a sudden, that chain gets a little kinetic, believe
- 15:18Speaker 1: that this is an entire possibility and that there is
- 15:21Speaker 1: this kind of campaign happening. Simon, You're shaking your head.
- 15:24Speaker 1: This feels like like real sort of this feels like
- 15:29Speaker 1: real game theory shit that's going on. I agree with
- 15:33Speaker 1: a lot of it, but I also think it's just
- 15:35Speaker 1: sort of overrated. He not that he's overrated, but he is.
- 15:38Speaker 1: It's like the guy takes too many hits and that's
- 15:42Speaker 1: a big issue. Where he's not built like Jalen Hurts,
- 15:45Speaker 1: Like he's not got this big lower body. He's not
- 15:48Speaker 1: this huge jack guy. He's small, quick and fast. And yes,
- 15:52Speaker 1: I love watching Lamar play. I would hate for Lamar
- 15:55Speaker 1: to be my quarterback. Like every time he runs the ball,
- 15:58Speaker 1: you have to hold your breath because he takes these hits.
- 16:01Speaker 1: And once again we've seen it back to back years.
- 16:04Speaker 1: He hasn't lasted Tom Brady forty five years old, get
- 16:08Speaker 1: him best the game in six years chat. So to me,
- 16:11Speaker 1: that's a big thing where like these guys I talked
- 16:13Speaker 1: to again, we'll talk about this Green Bay Jets thing,
- 16:15Speaker 1: like when my sources, my sources in the league, all
- 16:18Speaker 1: these people I talked to, it's just like you either
- 16:21Speaker 1: really love Lamar and you love his playing style and
- 16:22Speaker 1: you would love him to be in your team, or
- 16:24Speaker 1: you hate it and you don't trust it and you
- 16:26Speaker 1: think he's kind of a flash in the pan. It's like,
- 16:28Speaker 1: am I really about to give you a kid who's
- 16:29Speaker 1: what is he twenty seven to five years and yeah
- 16:32Speaker 1: right now when he's thirty two. But it's just I
- 16:34Speaker 1: don't know. To me, I'm one of those people. I
- 16:35Speaker 1: just wouldn't do it like he's just there's other guys
- 16:38Speaker 1: I'd rather invest my money than Lamar. But at the
- 16:41Speaker 1: asking price, I think it's a fair deal. Like if
- 16:43Speaker 1: you're again, if you're team like the Jets, who you've
- 16:46Speaker 1: never had anything at the quarterback position, I'd make the move.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Like two first rounders, no problem. We don't know the
- 16:51Speaker 1: hell to pick first rounders anyway. Moves the first rounder.
- 16:54Speaker 1: You guys can't draft quarterbacks anyway. So there's a couple
- 16:57Speaker 1: of teams that I would do it. But I'm with
- 16:59Speaker 1: Ray buy in the sense that because it's the Ravens,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I pay them so much more respect. There's just such
- 17:02Speaker 1: a smart organization. It's just like I'm with him. There's
- 17:05Speaker 1: probably a lot of collision behind the scenes, but there
- 17:07Speaker 1: are also some teams are just like this, this ain't
- 17:09Speaker 1: worth it, Like this ain't worth me doing with Atmar
- 17:11Speaker 1: so it is the most poor, Like it's even to
- 17:14Speaker 1: me more than Aaron Rodger. I think this is a
- 17:16Speaker 1: bigger deal where this will shift markets depending on where
- 17:19Speaker 1: he goes, Like if he goes to Miami, that's gonna
- 17:21Speaker 1: make a huge shift him on That Miami offense would
- 17:24Speaker 1: be insane, like him with Tyreek Hill with Waddle, that's
- 17:28Speaker 1: crazy because no longer his whole career with the Ravens,
- 17:31Speaker 1: he's faced a stack box. He's never had that wide
- 17:34Speaker 1: receiver that's taken the top off. I mean you can
- 17:36Speaker 1: say Hollywood Brown was that guy for him. Hollywood doesn't
- 17:39Speaker 1: even compare to Tyree Hill or Waddle. So that's a team.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I'm gona keeping my miye on with Miami where it's
- 17:44Speaker 1: like I love those kind of moves where those dream
- 17:47Speaker 1: scenarios of these teams they would to take that risk
- 17:49Speaker 1: on him. I think if you have the pieces around him,
- 17:52Speaker 1: hit them. Are the Jets, those are two teams I
- 17:54Speaker 1: would make the move. But Atlanta, why the hell would
- 17:57Speaker 1: Atlanta signed Lamar? They're just not built for his style
- 17:59Speaker 1: of play. So there's certain teams are just trying to
- 18:01Speaker 1: build for it where there's other teams at are that
- 18:05Speaker 1: point just say one thing about Tom Brady kind of
- 18:09Speaker 1: my generation, the man, Oh god, I was just gonna say,
- 18:15Speaker 1: you know, to the point of you know the risk factor.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I think the risk factor is the guaranteed money. And
- 18:21Speaker 1: to be clear, like I want, I want these dudes
- 18:23Speaker 1: to get paid. I think people you know, get But
- 18:26Speaker 1: I will say this from an owner perspective. The problem
- 18:30Speaker 1: because some one of you you mentioned you know kind
- 18:33Speaker 1: of business and and good for business, and what's not
- 18:37Speaker 1: guaranteed contracts are not good for business because what's gonna
- 18:41Speaker 1: happen if you start guaranteeing deals. Guys are gonna get injured.
- 18:44Speaker 1: We've seen that with Lamar, We've seen that with everybody.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Guy's gonna get injured. And then what's gonna happen. You're
- 18:48Speaker 1: gonna have situations like with the San Francisco forty and
- 18:50Speaker 1: Irons in the playoff. You're just gonna have less um
- 18:52Speaker 1: talented players playing more because you have all your money
- 18:56Speaker 1: tied up guaranteed into players that we guaranteed are gonna
- 19:00Speaker 1: get hurt too. So I think this is a serious
- 19:02Speaker 1: issue for these owners and that like, personally, I actually
- 19:07Speaker 1: don't think it is. It's as reflective on Lamar as
- 19:10Speaker 1: the principle behind this guaranteed money thing, because yes, Lamar
- 19:14Speaker 1: has gotten hurt. You could question his durability, you could question,
- 19:17Speaker 1: you know, how good is his arm talent given the
- 19:20Speaker 1: receivers he's had. But at the end of the day,
- 19:22Speaker 1: anyone could get hurt, like we see. You know, Christian
- 19:24Speaker 1: McAffrey didn't get hurt a while, and then he started
- 19:26Speaker 1: getting hurt all the time. You know, got like Matthew
- 19:28Speaker 1: Stafford went was healthy for a lot of years and
- 19:31Speaker 1: then he started getting Like it's just everyone knows everyone's
- 19:33Speaker 1: gonna get hurt. And so I think this guaranteed money,
- 19:36Speaker 1: if that becomes precedent, that does pose a danger to
- 19:39Speaker 1: the game in the future because you're gonna see more
- 19:41Speaker 1: situations where you're just playing these more replacement level players.
- 19:45Speaker 1: And that's why we're also talking about should we bring
- 19:47Speaker 1: back a third quarterback. You know, these things are like
- 19:50Speaker 1: heavily weighing on the league's mind. That I believe what
- 19:53Speaker 1: I heard from guys in the league. It's the Carson
- 19:56Speaker 1: Wentz effect. The Carson Wentz thing is you go back
- 19:59Speaker 1: a couple of years. Eagles gave him all that money.
- 20:00Speaker 1: If that was all guaranteed, imagine what kind of hold
- 20:03Speaker 1: the Eagles or even the Colts would have been in
- 20:05Speaker 1: trading for him. Where Yeah, that's always a worry with
- 20:07Speaker 1: these teams, where it's like, Okay, guy looks incredible in
- 20:10Speaker 1: his rookie contract, to give him the money, and then
- 20:12Speaker 1: they just fall apart. I think that's another thing it's
- 20:14Speaker 1: playing in here where it's like, yeah, we don't mind
- 20:16Speaker 1: paying a little marble, we don't want to give you
- 20:17Speaker 1: two hundred million guaranteed. So I know we've beaten this
- 20:20Speaker 1: to hell, but I do think it's one of the
- 20:22Speaker 1: bigger moves this off seasons can dictate a lot going
- 20:24Speaker 1: into March. What do we think of Simon? You mentioned
- 20:27Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers. It's NonStop conversation. I'm addicted to the New
- 20:32Speaker 1: York Post. I read it NonStop. I check it more
- 20:36Speaker 1: than I check anything else in my five minutes before
- 20:39Speaker 1: a meeting, you know, scroll and it's all Aaron Rodgers.
- 20:44Speaker 1: They met in California. What's happening. We've talked about this,
- 20:49Speaker 1: but let's level set like the Jets right now on
- 20:53Speaker 1: fan Duel I'm looking in the Action Network app. They
- 20:56Speaker 1: were about twenty eight to one to win the Super Bowl.
- 20:59Speaker 1: That hasn't really changed much in the last it's down
- 21:04Speaker 1: to sixteen to one now, Fandel No, Yeah, that happened.
- 21:08Speaker 1: That happened two days ago. So you know, I'm Chris
- 21:12Speaker 1: by the same spot. This is the time of year.
- 21:13Speaker 1: I have my alerts turned on for a lot of people,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and like Schefter makes my hard drop. Like right before
- 21:19Speaker 1: we came on, Chefter tweets out trade Jets agreed to
- 21:23Speaker 1: send and it's like, oh my god. When you read
- 21:25Speaker 1: the rest of it's a seventh round pick for Chuck Clark,
- 21:28Speaker 1: the safety. So it's been tough where like I'm I'm
- 21:33Speaker 1: waiting for the shooter drop because I've talked to a
- 21:35Speaker 1: bunch of people that are good sources. I know something
- 21:38Speaker 1: that's really close to Rodgers. He's in his camp. It
- 21:40Speaker 1: does seem like they want to see what they got
- 21:42Speaker 1: in Jordan Love and they're kind of over the whole
- 21:44Speaker 1: Rodgers experience. Right, So in the back of my mind,
- 21:48Speaker 1: I actually thought he was gonna go back to Green Bay,
- 21:49Speaker 1: And now talking enough people, it seems like after his
- 21:52Speaker 1: little trip into the darkness. He's come out and he's
- 21:55Speaker 1: kind of wants to get out of Green Bay. He
- 21:56Speaker 1: wants to move on. It seems like I think we
- 21:58Speaker 1: all could agree here that Jets feels like the best
- 22:02Speaker 1: spot for him to go because there's such a complete team.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Now on the gambling side, if you were taking the
- 22:07Speaker 1: Jets now sixteen to one, that is a horrible bet.
- 22:10Speaker 1: That's a horrible bet. And AFC that, yes, it's so
- 22:12Speaker 1: tough again, it'd be completely different that this is an NFC.
- 22:15Speaker 1: But the AFC, that's to me, that's a bad bet.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So I think it's interesting so many people are running
- 22:20Speaker 1: to the window to get the Jets at you know,
- 22:22Speaker 1: there were twenty five to one, they were at twenty
- 22:23Speaker 1: to one, and make this bet on this Jets team.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I mean, Matt Mitchell knows that it all still runs
- 22:29Speaker 1: through Buffalo. So as much I want to get on
- 22:31Speaker 1: the Jets hype train, it feels like this is kind
- 22:35Speaker 1: of like the Russell wilsonthing from last year. Chat of
- 22:38Speaker 1: it's been hyped up too much, numbers been bet up
- 22:40Speaker 1: too much. Me and you aren't gonna touch. I know
- 22:42Speaker 1: that Chris is gonna touch. The value is all gone
- 22:44Speaker 1: So if you're one of these people that you made
- 22:47Speaker 1: that bet on the Jets, you better hope he goes
- 22:49Speaker 1: there or else you have a dead ticket like this.
- 22:52Speaker 1: This has no value if it's Jimmy Gropp anywhere else.
- 22:54Speaker 1: So I'm mentued to hear Chris's view on this, But
- 22:56Speaker 1: for me, I'm not really doing anything with this anymore. Now,
- 22:59Speaker 1: just sit back and win hear what happens here. But
- 23:01Speaker 1: to me, all the values gone with betting the Jets. This, Like,
- 23:04Speaker 1: let's just shut this shit down in numbers, Like fucking like,
- 23:06Speaker 1: I'm just gonna shut this shit down in numbers right now.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers just two MVP years, he led the league
- 23:13Speaker 1: in QBR seventy nine point eight sixty nine point one.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Those are his two qbrs in his twenty twenty and
- 23:19Speaker 1: twenty twenty one season. Last year, his QBR went from
- 23:24Speaker 1: sixty nine to one two years ago to thirty nine
- 23:26Speaker 1: point three, lowest of his career. You want to hear
- 23:30Speaker 1: the rest of the Jets quarterbacks qbrs last year, remember
- 23:32Speaker 1: Rodgers is thirty nine point three, Zach Wilson thirty six
- 23:35Speaker 1: point four, Joe Flacco thirty four point two, Mike White
- 23:40Speaker 1: thirty six point nine. Get this shit out of here.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Rogers ain't moving a needle at all. He's washed. He's done. Bro, Bro,
- 23:49Speaker 1: this dude, this dude had to go to a dark
- 23:51Speaker 1: room just to de stide. If you wanted to play
- 23:53Speaker 1: football again, this will not end well Like this looks
- 23:56Speaker 1: like well, we started with Russ a couple of years
- 23:58Speaker 1: ago where it was like he was falling off and
- 24:00Speaker 1: then he goes to someplace and everyone's like, oh, it'll
- 24:02Speaker 1: be it will be fixed again, and it was. It's
- 24:05Speaker 1: like Rodgers looked like he was falling off like five
- 24:07Speaker 1: years ago, came back, had like a resurgence. Okay, cool,
- 24:10Speaker 1: but now he's clearly he's clearly like his arm isn't
- 24:14Speaker 1: as strong. He's make his prone picks, which he never did,
- 24:18Speaker 1: like he I just you know it, just he could move.
- 24:22Speaker 1: He's he's gonna be better than what the Jets had.
- 24:25Speaker 1: He does he make him a Super Bowl contender. In
- 24:29Speaker 1: my opinion, I don't think he loves the needle of
- 24:30Speaker 1: his mint because I just don't think this is the
- 24:32Speaker 1: same Aaron Rodgers that we were getting even two years ago.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And even if he does, like when it like when
- 24:36Speaker 1: is Aaron Rodgers put gotten to the super Bowl since
- 24:39Speaker 1: you know, whenever he won his his one ring, like
- 24:42Speaker 1: every year he goes to the playoffs and gets upset,
- 24:44Speaker 1: usually at home. So really he's making the Jets of
- 24:47Speaker 1: Super Bowl contender with a QBR three points higher than
- 24:49Speaker 1: Zach Wilson. Get the funk out of here. Yeah, that's raider. Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 1: For I would say in I think it was twenty eighteen,
- 24:59Speaker 1: two nineteen, you wrote so many columns that proved Aaron
- 25:06Speaker 1: Rodgers was on a downward slope in his career, and
- 25:09Speaker 1: then he has these two amazing seasons back to back
- 25:13Speaker 1: MVPs and then falls off a cliff again. Are you
- 25:17Speaker 1: able to identify what happened that made him so special
- 25:21Speaker 1: in those two years? Was it Matt Lafleur running a
- 25:24Speaker 1: different game plan? Was it Aaron Rodgers listening to Matt
- 25:27Speaker 1: Laflour and last year he didn't like what what have
- 25:30Speaker 1: you seen in any analysis that you've done? So I
- 25:33Speaker 1: think I think it did come down to game plan
- 25:37Speaker 1: and oh coaching because McCartney, you know, he was with
- 25:41Speaker 1: him his whole career, so that like really so we
- 25:43Speaker 1: didn't really have too much of a uh you know,
- 25:46Speaker 1: like a context perspective, I guess you could say. So
- 25:49Speaker 1: then it's like, okay, because even his first Lafloor year
- 25:51Speaker 1: it wasn't great, but he started to pick up the offense.
- 25:53Speaker 1: But now now he's legitimately old, and if he does
- 25:57Speaker 1: and like let's say you're talking about this year spread
- 26:01Speaker 1: the jets right, well, Rogers wasn't amazing in that first Lafloria.
- 26:05Speaker 1: It was the second and third that he was amazing it.
- 26:08Speaker 1: So even if you're talking about it, I still think
- 26:12Speaker 1: it would take some time, you know, go to a
- 26:14Speaker 1: new spot this and that, so you know, I really don't.
- 26:18Speaker 1: And now he is though, So now whatever we thought
- 26:21Speaker 1: perhaps could have been a physical decline a couple of
- 26:23Speaker 1: years ago, three to three four years ago, now I
- 26:26Speaker 1: think it's real just from watching him play. Because the
- 26:28Speaker 1: one thing about it, at least you could say the
- 26:30Speaker 1: last time was that he wasn't really he was. He
- 26:34Speaker 1: was careful, he wasn't missing throws, he wasn't throwing picks
- 26:37Speaker 1: and committing turnovers. That changed this year and that's that's
- 26:40Speaker 1: to me the biggest red flag, and again the QBRS
- 26:44Speaker 1: for in those years where he looked like he was
- 26:46Speaker 1: declining they were still you know, in the in the fifties,
- 26:49Speaker 1: you know, fifty A, fifty two. This is thirty nine
- 26:53Speaker 1: point one. This is a career though, Like this is
- 26:55Speaker 1: we're in a whole different tier of sucking or not
- 26:58Speaker 1: playing enough to potential for Aaron Rodgers now. So you know,
- 27:02Speaker 1: Foomy one, same on you. But I just don't think
- 27:06Speaker 1: I just don't think it's realistic to expect him like
- 27:08Speaker 1: not everybody's Tom Brady, like you know, and I just
- 27:10Speaker 1: don't think it's realistic, especially year one on a new team,
- 27:13Speaker 1: to expect him to go back to envy P four. Look,
- 27:17Speaker 1: I think it's pretty clear that if you're grading old
- 27:18Speaker 1: people Tom Brady, Chad Milman, da like after that this march,

- 29:12Speaker 1: One eight hundred gambler dot net in West Virginia, Simon
- 29:18Speaker 1: and Raybon, Daniel Jones another quarterback signed a huge deal,
- 29:25Speaker 1: Jimmy g still out there, obviously, Aaron Rodgers out there,
- 29:30Speaker 1: Derek Carr just signed to New Orleans. None of these
- 29:34Speaker 1: feel like needle movers for me. If I'm looking at
- 29:38Speaker 1: the future's board and saying, is there a potential opportunity
- 29:44Speaker 1: that will make one team significantly better and move their
- 29:47Speaker 1: odds if they were to get a GIMMYG or somebody
- 29:50Speaker 1: like that? What are you seeing? And I want Daniel
- 29:54Speaker 1: Jones to be the next question, so we don't have
- 29:56Speaker 1: to touch on Janie Jones next, But right now, is
- 29:59Speaker 1: there a to mover for you at the quarterback position
- 30:04Speaker 1: that can change odds for a team like that? You're
- 30:06Speaker 1: looking at Carolina getting Jimmy G. Does that do something
- 30:09Speaker 1: as an example? I mean, it'd be great. I'd be
- 30:12Speaker 1: happy for Carolina, but no, it doesn't move the media
- 30:15Speaker 1: for me. We talk all the time, Chah. There's literally
- 30:18Speaker 1: twelve guys that are really, you know, game changing quarterbacks
- 30:21Speaker 1: in the league. The rest of it are just kind
- 30:23Speaker 1: of pawns that need good stuff around and make it
- 30:25Speaker 1: a better situation. So in which I want to get
- 30:27Speaker 1: on the Jimmy G hype training. The guys always hurt
- 30:31Speaker 1: and we've never really seen him to do anything like
- 30:34Speaker 1: you can say, well, he took the forty nine ers
- 30:37Speaker 1: to the super Bowl and all this other stuff. Come on, now,
- 30:39Speaker 1: anyone anyone knows that wasn't in If you go back
- 30:42Speaker 1: and watch, especially in the MC championship game when they
- 30:44Speaker 1: played Green Bay. I think they ran the ball fifty
- 30:47Speaker 1: times and he threw the ball five times. Like it's
- 30:49Speaker 1: just Jimmy, ain't that guy? Jimmy's a good game manager.
- 30:53Speaker 1: The Panthers they don't need a game manager, they need
- 30:55Speaker 1: a game changer. Like they have a lot of good talent.
- 30:58Speaker 1: But compared to the forty nine ers, compared to the Rams,
- 31:01Speaker 1: compared to the Eagles, Cowboys, even I just don't think
- 31:04Speaker 1: the Panthers on the same level. So nothing like even
- 31:07Speaker 1: Derek Carr, like you just talked about. I might take
- 31:10Speaker 1: put some money on Derek car right now to win
- 31:11Speaker 1: that division because he's the best quarterback in that division
- 31:14Speaker 1: right now, but the same Super Bowl futures. No, Like,
- 31:17Speaker 1: I'm not putting any money on that. So I don't
- 31:19Speaker 1: know about Chris, But none of these moves have really
- 31:22Speaker 1: done anything for me. It's not I mean, that's normally
- 31:24Speaker 1: how it is in the off season. That's why Tom
- 31:25Speaker 1: lit Lamar that would be the most crazy movement in
- 31:28Speaker 1: earth shattering movement because I'm on the right team. That's
- 31:31Speaker 1: a big deal. That moves the odds to me. All
- 31:34Speaker 1: these other guys not really chat. They don't really do
- 31:36Speaker 1: much for me. Yeah, it's you know, what's a needle
- 31:41Speaker 1: mover getting getting in a Waite quarterback on a rookie deal.
- 31:44Speaker 1: We're talking about free agent quarterbacks and so that's just
- 31:47Speaker 1: not going to move the needle. It's not to say
- 31:49Speaker 1: that a team that has signed one of these couldn't
- 31:53Speaker 1: end up making a run, but in terms of like
- 31:57Speaker 1: are we projecting that now, is that moving the needle,
- 32:00Speaker 1: so to speak, not in my opinion, because I think
- 32:02Speaker 1: the real noodle movers are, you know, having Joe Burrow
- 32:05Speaker 1: on a rookie deal, having Josh Outen on a rookie deal,
- 32:09Speaker 1: things like that, or having you know, Patrick Mahomes who
- 32:12Speaker 1: is just amazing. You know, the Rams kind of did it.
- 32:16Speaker 1: You know, they they kind of spoiled us. I think
- 32:18Speaker 1: because they they had like the perfect storm. They got Stafford,
- 32:22Speaker 1: who I think is better than the quarterbacks out there
- 32:25Speaker 1: this time. I think Stafford will go down as having
- 32:29Speaker 1: played at a higher level during the Rams Super Bowl year.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Then Aaron Rodgers will play this year wherever he goes.
- 32:35Speaker 1: So I just think that between the quality of the
- 32:38Speaker 1: quarterback and the fact that you are having to tie
- 32:40Speaker 1: up significant cap space in these quarterbacks, I don't think
- 32:45Speaker 1: they're needle movers. Well, look, I think you're that's a
- 32:50Speaker 1: really good point about quarterbacks and a rookie deal. We
- 32:54Speaker 1: got spoiled not just by Stafford but by Brady because
- 32:57Speaker 1: we had two seasons in a row where veteran quarterbacks
- 33:02Speaker 1: change teams. People made money on futures markets by projecting
- 33:05Speaker 1: where they were going to go. But you're one hundred
- 33:08Speaker 1: percent right. You got to look at the teams that
- 33:11Speaker 1: have quarterbacks on the ascent, that are on rookie deals
- 33:16Speaker 1: and have good rosters around them. That's where you're going
- 33:19Speaker 1: to make your money in the futures market right now.
- 33:22Speaker 1: And to me, that would eliminate the New York Football
- 33:28Speaker 1: Giants from this conversation potentially for the next five years.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Because I'm signing Daniel Jones. It's not a needle mover.
- 33:35Speaker 1: It's when you start looking at the free agent market,
- 33:40Speaker 1: you kind of you do understand why the Giants went
- 33:43Speaker 1: with Jones and just gave him the money. At least
- 33:46Speaker 1: he runs, that's about the only good thing. But he's
- 33:48Speaker 1: not a needle mover. I think the Giants actually do
- 33:52Speaker 1: have more upside than some of those other teams because
- 33:56Speaker 1: I think they I think their coaching staff and front
- 33:59Speaker 1: office has already proven that they can do more with less.
- 34:02Speaker 1: So if if there is any team that I'm saying, Okay, now,
- 34:05Speaker 1: what are you gonna do with with this guy who's
- 34:08Speaker 1: it's still not you're not playing him top flight quarterback money.
- 34:11Speaker 1: You know that market always is exploding more and more,
- 34:13Speaker 1: but you know, okay, what can you do with with
- 34:16Speaker 1: this kind of thing, with this kind of roster. I mean,
- 34:19Speaker 1: there is some upside there, but remember when Gabo was
- 34:22Speaker 1: in Buffalo, you know, you still had Josh on a
- 34:25Speaker 1: rookie deal. So, um, yeah, it's kind of it's the
- 34:28Speaker 1: same thing. It's it's it's just there's gonna be a
- 34:30Speaker 1: lot of teams that are gonna be very tempting to us,
- 34:33Speaker 1: you know, and everyone's gonna make a case for one
- 34:36Speaker 1: or the other. It is that at the end of
- 34:38Speaker 1: the day, it's gonna be it's gonna be either teams
- 34:41Speaker 1: with the super because remember Brady was a super elite
- 34:43Speaker 1: quarterback too. It's not just it's not just the Buck
- 34:45Speaker 1: sign or you acquired Brady. It was Brady's goat, right,
- 34:49Speaker 1: So none of these dudes are to go Aaron Rodgers.
- 34:53Speaker 1: You know he has that upside, but you know, I
- 34:56Speaker 1: just I don't see it for him. And then yeah,
- 34:58Speaker 1: Daniel Jones, it's just to very it just puts you
- 35:01Speaker 1: in that purgatory, uh. In my opinion, Um, and you're
- 35:04Speaker 1: gonna see teams it's probably gonna be one of these
- 35:06Speaker 1: teams that draft one of these quarterbacks. To be honest,
- 35:09Speaker 1: in the in the in the draft. You know there's
- 35:11Speaker 1: a few quarterbacks, you know, three quarterbacks I think that
- 35:14Speaker 1: you know, people feel could be legit and you know,
- 35:16Speaker 1: maybe four and it's probably gonna be one of those
- 35:18Speaker 1: teams that that are gonna just jump all these teams
- 35:21Speaker 1: that we're talking about right now. Um. Or maybe it's
- 35:23Speaker 1: the Bears, you know, your your Bears, Chad, you know,
- 35:26Speaker 1: with with the most cap space in the league, sitting
- 35:28Speaker 1: on that number one pick, with a quarterback that on
- 35:31Speaker 1: his rookie deal that you could probably build with. Well,
- 35:34Speaker 1: that's the Daniel Jones. Go ahead, Well, go ahead, Simon,
- 35:37Speaker 1: because I got a question. I lets say Daniel Jones
- 35:40Speaker 1: is Asian and that that guy I'm up with the
- 35:41Speaker 1: ru mdp UM. I did not see him getting anything
- 35:44Speaker 1: close to this number, just for the simple fact of
- 35:48Speaker 1: you know, Daniel Jones. Yes he can run the ball,
- 35:51Speaker 1: and yeah he had no bar receivers, but we also
- 35:53Speaker 1: have a lot of film on him for these class
- 35:54Speaker 1: couple of years. And he did take a major step
- 35:56Speaker 1: this year and they didn't make the playoffs, and that's
- 35:58Speaker 1: all great, but has to do with you know, they're
- 36:01Speaker 1: gonna be able to build a good team around him
- 36:03Speaker 1: because they had him on a cheap deal. Yep. Now
- 36:06Speaker 1: that's kind of out the window where it reminds me
- 36:08Speaker 1: the Tannahil situation, Like Tennessee had to pay Tannehill, then
- 36:11Speaker 1: they had to let a j. Brown walk. Now they're
- 36:12Speaker 1: looking to move Derek Henry. It's like all of sudden
- 36:15Speaker 1: that money starts getting really tight when you pay your
- 36:17Speaker 1: quarterback down amount of money. This ain't non my home scenario, right,
- 36:20Speaker 1: my homes in the Unicorn. I just I know the
- 36:24Speaker 1: cap spaces that moves up and anything like that. And
- 36:25Speaker 1: that's why they're able to give more money here to
- 36:28Speaker 1: Daniel Jones. But just an incredible negotiation by whoever his
- 36:32Speaker 1: aging is. I can't believe he's able to get this
- 36:34Speaker 1: amount of money. But as an Eagles fan, I'm a static,
- 36:38Speaker 1: like I'm very happy they're paying this man this amount
- 36:40Speaker 1: of money because to me, I feel like Chris is
- 36:42Speaker 1: nail on the head. The move would have been you
- 36:44Speaker 1: trade him for some assets and you just draft some
- 36:47Speaker 1: guy this year, because that's how much that rookie pay
- 36:49Speaker 1: scale really factored into a mean Chad. We talk every
- 36:52Speaker 1: offseason like we make these crazy bets like the Jaguars
- 36:55Speaker 1: last year. Why do we make that bet because they're
- 36:57Speaker 1: paying nothing to Trevor Lawrence and they can go on
- 37:00Speaker 1: sign all these receivers and again Calvin Ridley this year,
- 37:03Speaker 1: that's gonna be on this team with the Shaguar teams,
- 37:05Speaker 1: they can make that move because they're not paying Trevor
- 37:07Speaker 1: Lawrence that much money. So as much as I am
- 37:11Speaker 1: all about the players getting their money, like I'm happy
- 37:13Speaker 1: for Daniel Jones getting his money, that hurt the team,
- 37:16Speaker 1: Like that's gonna hurt the Giants all signed players to
- 37:19Speaker 1: put around him. So um yeah, I I disagree with
- 37:23Speaker 1: it at his basis, But what else were they really
- 37:25Speaker 1: supposed to do? Like to me, they didn't really have
- 37:27Speaker 1: them any options. He fits their scheme the best. Their
- 37:30Speaker 1: head coach clearly likes the kid. He's one that stuck
- 37:32Speaker 1: up for him and said, yeah, let's pay the kid.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I think I can win with him. So we know it.
- 37:36Speaker 1: As NFL coaches, they tie themselves in these qbs. So
- 37:40Speaker 1: if Dabo says this guy's legit, I'm gonna believe it
- 37:43Speaker 1: because I think he's one of the best coaches in
- 37:44Speaker 1: the league. So I can't as much I want to
- 37:47Speaker 1: shoot on the money and not much to paying them.
- 37:49Speaker 1: You know, the Giants are a good, well run organization,
- 37:53Speaker 1: like they know what they're doing, so I'm gonna trust
- 37:55Speaker 1: them and say they're probably making a smart move here.
- 37:58Speaker 1: But outside looking and I'm like, this is a completely disaster.
- 38:00Speaker 1: So I'm interesting, are you view a chet well? I
- 38:04Speaker 1: thought it was crazy, Like I'm not a fan of
- 38:09Speaker 1: a guy has one good year in a situation in
- 38:13Speaker 1: which there's an entirely new system, so people are still
- 38:18Speaker 1: trying to figure it out. And day Ball is a
- 38:20Speaker 1: really good coach. But things went perfect, almost perfect for
- 38:23Speaker 1: the Giants. They won every coin flip game. They won
- 38:27Speaker 1: every coin flip game. Everything went the right way. Part
- 38:30Speaker 1: of that is day Ball, good coaching, good strategic decision making,
- 38:34Speaker 1: sae Quon Barkley basically being healthy. They had no receivers,
- 38:39Speaker 1: which makes it even more interesting. But it's like they
- 38:45Speaker 1: did what they had to do to put themselves in
- 38:47Speaker 1: a position to succeed and give them the flexibility as
- 38:50Speaker 1: much as their panem because you do this deal and
- 38:54Speaker 1: then you can franchise Quon instead of franchising Jones and
- 38:58Speaker 1: then losing sa Quan. So I understand why they did it.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Here's my question go ahead, Raybond, you want to say something,
- 39:04Speaker 1: I was just gonna say the one gamble I think
- 39:06Speaker 1: they're making because I you know, on the surface, pay
- 39:09Speaker 1: that money to Jones, you could be with that coaching staff,
- 39:12Speaker 1: with with the ability if they have, as Simon said,
- 39:14Speaker 1: well we're an organization, you could kind of do it
- 39:16Speaker 1: the Giants did this year. You could get to the playerfs,
- 39:18Speaker 1: you could get into you could win a game, but
- 39:19Speaker 1: you're gonna run into a team like the Eagles. But
- 39:21Speaker 1: the one bet I think I'm guessing the Giants are
- 39:23Speaker 1: making when they signed his deal was that the Eagles
- 39:26Speaker 1: are gonna have to pay jane On Hurts pretty soon.
- 39:28Speaker 1: He's gonna command like two hundred and fifty mill. Now
- 39:32Speaker 1: the playing field is leveled a little more. Now you're saying, okay,
- 39:36Speaker 1: we might just have a leg up on building a team,
- 39:38Speaker 1: because like, look at the Eagles, it's like, oh, they
- 39:39Speaker 1: might lose Bradberd, they might lose a Gardner, you know,
- 39:42Speaker 1: like their team is going to start to break up
- 39:43Speaker 1: a little bit. So I think that's kind of the
- 39:44Speaker 1: bet the Giants are making that if we can pay
- 39:47Speaker 1: a quarterback, you know, maybe like thirty percent less than
- 39:53Speaker 1: the Eagles are. Now we have a fighting chance to
- 39:56Speaker 1: build a roster that at least can compete because the
- 39:58Speaker 1: NFC's always wide open every year, like every year, and
- 40:00Speaker 1: now that Rogers is leaven, you know, it's even I
- 40:03Speaker 1: would guess, I would say, and Brady too, it's even
- 40:05Speaker 1: more wide over. So I think that's the bet the
- 40:07Speaker 1: Giants are making, so that I'm glad you raised that
- 40:10Speaker 1: because the question I wanted to ask was, we're all
- 40:14Speaker 1: NFC fans, if you could choose one team from each
- 40:22Speaker 1: division most likely to win the Super Bowl in the
- 40:25Speaker 1: next five years, and the NFC East is going to
- 40:28Speaker 1: be a challenge given what Raybon just said and the
- 40:30Speaker 1: Eagles having a lot of cap challenges coming up, who
- 40:34Speaker 1: is the team you choose from each division? With that
- 40:37Speaker 1: you would bet on you have to make a bet
- 40:41Speaker 1: on each one of these teams to win the Super
- 40:42Speaker 1: Bowl in the next five years? Who do you choose
- 40:45Speaker 1: from each division? I knew who I'm choosing. I'm choosing
- 40:48Speaker 1: the Bears, I'm choosing the I think I'm taking the Giants,
- 40:55Speaker 1: I think I'm taking the Panther, and I think I'm
- 41:02Speaker 1: taking the Niners. Simon, who are you taking Um, I
- 41:11Speaker 1: would definitely go Eagles. I think they're they got the
- 41:13Speaker 1: best young talent in our division. Um. I mean it's
- 41:18Speaker 1: tough because I do want to say Carolina Panthers like
- 41:20Speaker 1: as much I want to take Atlanta. I guess you're
- 41:22Speaker 1: right with the Panthers. I mean they just have such
- 41:24Speaker 1: a good defense. Um, I gotta go forty nine ers
- 41:28Speaker 1: once again. But yeah, that's this is like the tough
- 41:31Speaker 1: part of like picking these teams where it's like, you know,
- 41:36Speaker 1: you know as much I love the Bears chat, I
- 41:39Speaker 1: don't know if I trust your GM yet, Like, I
- 41:43Speaker 1: got no real feeling this guy. Again, he's got one
- 41:46Speaker 1: hundred million dollars to work with in cap space, there's
- 41:48Speaker 1: a lot of good free agents, a lot of oh
- 41:50Speaker 1: line you can add. So maybe this will change once
- 41:52Speaker 1: you get close to the season. But I'm still gonna
- 41:54Speaker 1: go with green Bay. Like again, I have no read
- 41:56Speaker 1: on Jordan Love. I just trust that organization. They're just
- 42:00Speaker 1: again you want you want to do a pody face?
- 42:02Speaker 1: When was your last Super Bowl chat? I'm just surprised
- 42:06Speaker 1: you would say green Bay instead of Detroit in this scenaria,
- 42:11Speaker 1: Like green Bay smoke too much love for Detroit like
- 42:14Speaker 1: they're like the Jets. To me, it's this is when
- 42:16Speaker 1: you want to get out when the when Detroit, when
- 42:18Speaker 1: you look at Detroit is the favorite in the North.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Bet anyone but Detroit. That's where you're gonna find value,
- 42:23Speaker 1: anyone but Detroit. Because that's just the public's really stupid.
- 42:26Speaker 1: That's why even talking to Anthony Richardson and we'll talk
- 42:29Speaker 1: more draft, all these guys online, they're like, have you
- 42:32Speaker 1: watched this college tape? Have you seen how bad this
- 42:34Speaker 1: kid is? That's what you want. You want a guy
- 42:37Speaker 1: like Josh Allen when people are just shitting on a
- 42:38Speaker 1: guy in the whole draft process, that's what you want.
- 42:41Speaker 1: The public is really stupid. So the fact that public
- 42:44Speaker 1: loves Detroit, that feels like a dead bet this year
- 42:46Speaker 1: coming into the season where it's like Jordan Love could
- 42:49Speaker 1: surprise people. It's five years. Five years. Yeah, I'm thinking
- 42:53Speaker 1: five years, Like you're you're back in Jared Goff for
- 42:55Speaker 1: the next five years. I'd rather take the upside on
- 42:58Speaker 1: a rookie contract of Jordan Love on a rookie deal
- 43:01Speaker 1: the next five years compared to Jared Golf, which is
- 43:04Speaker 1: I think he's a third highest paced quarterback in football
- 43:07Speaker 1: right now? All right, Raven, I'll go Giants in the East.
- 43:11Speaker 1: But it's really close because how he has been for
- 43:13Speaker 1: the Eagles has been excellent. But I do think the
- 43:15Speaker 1: Giants did make an interesting bet on you know, Okay,
- 43:18Speaker 1: what's gonna happen when the Eagles have to extend her.
- 43:20Speaker 1: So just because the Giants right now they have a
- 43:23Speaker 1: lot of upside, like we haven't necessarily seen any downside yet.
- 43:28Speaker 1: It's only a year, you're going into year two, So
- 43:30Speaker 1: I'd take them, it's close. Take Detroit in the North because, um,
- 43:35Speaker 1: I'm kind of with Simon in the sense that I
- 43:37Speaker 1: don't I don't know if I trust. I like the
- 43:39Speaker 1: Bear's situation cap wise, quarterback wise, but I haven't seen
- 43:43Speaker 1: enough from their coach or GM to to to say
- 43:48Speaker 1: that they can get over the hump where I think
- 43:49Speaker 1: the Lions have been making generally smart moves and they're
- 43:53Speaker 1: not necessarily tied to golf. Like I think the Lions
- 43:55Speaker 1: are actually the leading leaders in the Lamar Jackson if
- 43:58Speaker 1: not Ravens. So like I think the Lions um with
- 44:02Speaker 1: with the Packers doing what they're doing, um and and
- 44:05Speaker 1: the and the Vikings really weren't a good team. I
- 44:07Speaker 1: think I would take the Lions future. Um, I would
- 44:10Speaker 1: still take the Falcons in the UH. In the South,
- 44:13Speaker 1: I think the Panthers are gonna be more mediocre and
- 44:15Speaker 1: I don't I don't again, not not a coaching staff
- 44:17Speaker 1: or front office that I really have any any faith in.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Whereas I think the Falcons, it's either they're gonna they're
- 44:24Speaker 1: gonna switch either like they're gonna either switch coaching staffs
- 44:27Speaker 1: or front offices and they're still gonna be in a
- 44:29Speaker 1: pretty good position, or they're gonna take a big step.
- 44:32Speaker 1: So I go Falcons and then forty nine ers in
- 44:34Speaker 1: the West just because they're they've they've just proven that
- 44:37Speaker 1: like their their talent acquisition, you know, if you can
- 44:40Speaker 1: find a third strand quarterback the way they did, and
- 44:43Speaker 1: they've gotten the Super Bowls or gotten close to the
- 44:45Speaker 1: Super Bowl with a lot with you know, with Jimmy
- 44:47Speaker 1: and then with perty like, it's hard to bet against them.
- 44:50Speaker 1: So definitely Niners. Um with with what's going on in
- 44:54Speaker 1: the in the West, all right, So we all agree
- 44:56Speaker 1: on the Niners and then we disagree on every other division,
- 45:00Speaker 1: which is why I wrote down your guys Giants takes
- 45:02Speaker 1: because this is gonna age like milk both you guys
- 45:04Speaker 1: taking the Giants for the next five years. I said
- 45:06Speaker 1: it was close to be fair, I'm just saying it's
- 45:09Speaker 1: like and like to be honest, like we're seeing the
- 45:12Speaker 1: Giants when they are a well run organization win super
- 45:15Speaker 1: Bowls that they have no business winning. They're all gone
- 45:17Speaker 1: though they haven't drafted well in five years. Yeah, but
- 45:19Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying. Now we have Now we have guys.
- 45:23Speaker 1: You said it yourself, this is again a well run organization.
- 45:26Speaker 1: We're talking five years. Right in year one, they ridiculously
- 45:30Speaker 1: succeeded expectations. I'm just saying that puts them in It's
- 45:33Speaker 1: like they could go real low, but we're talking five years.
- 45:36Speaker 1: You want upside the Cowboys, You want to be shocked.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Cowboys always gonna be nine to ten. Huh. You wouldn't
- 45:42Speaker 1: be shocked if they go four and twelve this year? No,
- 45:44Speaker 1: but that's my poy. I wouldn't be shocked if they
- 45:46Speaker 1: go four and twelve. I wouldn't be shocked for the
- 45:47Speaker 1: next five years. I wouldn't be shocked if they bottomed
- 45:49Speaker 1: out again. But I also wouldn't be shocked if they
- 45:52Speaker 1: stole a super Bowl like those twenty eleven Giants could.
- 45:54Speaker 1: And remember Daniel Jones, he there's that. Remember Elon Manning,
- 46:00Speaker 1: he sucked until he did it, you know what I mean?
- 46:02Speaker 1: Like even even during the Super Bowl runs, like a
- 46:05Speaker 1: lot of people are like, I don't know about this guy.
- 46:07Speaker 1: So that's all I say. The Giant. It's close, though,
- 46:09Speaker 1: because the Eagles have proven that they can do a
- 46:12Speaker 1: lot of things. So I think it's two team race.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Whereas I think the Cowboys they're always gonna be in
- 46:16Speaker 1: at Purgatory, right, They're always gonna be in at like
- 46:18Speaker 1: eight to ten eleven wind Purgatory and in Washington is
- 46:22Speaker 1: just kind of I just don't trust upstairs, you know.
- 46:25Speaker 1: For them, I love it. I love it. It's great
- 46:31Speaker 1: having Ray Bond back in the podcast. All right, folks
