- 0:28Speaker 1: Boy took a dump on the field and they couldn't
- 0:30Speaker 1: write it's better than the team that he said took
- 0:33Speaker 1: on the field yesterday. He's just ruth. You're asking this
- 0:36Speaker 1: gout to be a quarterbacks coaching his quarterbacks stunk. It's
- 0:38Speaker 1: the same thing. The guy's point is that batlet screw you.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Does he command the room? Does he, you know, get respected?
- 0:46Speaker 1: His neck is too long before we talking one him.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Josh Rosen and a big Adam's apple. You can't have that.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I don't want to have to write out Ramondre every time,
- 0:55Speaker 1: you know, so I just say Dre. It's faster maybe
- 0:57Speaker 1: with yeah, I might as well just do the row.
- 1:01Speaker 1: If I'm going to do Paul another poll, I'll be
- 1:04Speaker 1: four Belichick saying this year, I could see that toe
- 1:09Speaker 1: moving if he's did that all right, this is Patriots Unfiltered,
- 1:13Speaker 1: fueled by Duncan. All Right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It's
- 1:18Speaker 1: Thursday here at Jillette Stadium and getting ready for the
- 1:23Speaker 1: Miami Dolphins a Sunday at one tilt here at Gillette Stadium,
- 1:28Speaker 1: the second to last regular season game. We're getting down there.
- 1:31Speaker 1: It's a must win for the Patriots if they want
- 1:34Speaker 1: to have any hope of getting into the playoffs. So, um,
- 1:38Speaker 1: current status? Have we heard any? Well? First let's introduce
- 1:42Speaker 1: the contestants. Hello, we have Deuce. We have Alex gracing
- 1:47Speaker 1: us with her presence. She heard the video was on today,
- 1:49Speaker 1: so it's like I'll come down today. Paul's here and
- 1:54Speaker 1: mattson the move. Evan will he be by l after practice?
- 1:58Speaker 1: I think his twelve thirty five. Okay, So it's a
- 2:00Speaker 1: big show. It's a big show. And following our show
- 2:03Speaker 1: live on it video will be catch twenty two. Yeah,
- 2:07Speaker 1: in a Thursday at two time slot. Yeah. And I
- 2:11Speaker 1: just I just want to say two. I'm we're live

- 2:20Speaker 1: also email the show email web radio dot com or
- 2:23Speaker 1: call the show at eight five five pass five hundred um. So, yeah,
- 2:28Speaker 1: looking forward to a huge show. Now, Paul's gonna have
- 2:31Speaker 1: to leave early because he's move shows. Yeah, he's going
- 2:34Speaker 1: to with his other show. Uh, he's filling in and
- 2:37Speaker 1: the Felger and Maz Show from two to six. Not
- 2:41Speaker 1: just not just a guest spot. He's a co host
- 2:45Speaker 1: for all four hours. He's gonna have to talk some bruins.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Maybe you have to talk some hot stove already. So
- 2:54Speaker 1: that's what it was on Monday. So for the first
- 2:55Speaker 1: hour he's gonna be going head to head with Catch
- 2:58Speaker 1: twenty two. Oh that's so if no one's listening, Paul,
- 3:02Speaker 1: you'll know why. I will. And they got the simulcast
- 3:04Speaker 1: on NBC Sports Boston, so yes, you know video, so
- 3:08Speaker 1: it'll be happy to know, just in case, and I'll
- 3:10Speaker 1: show the the listeners there right, I made my picks.
- 3:13Speaker 1: My picks are in. I thought you said you hadn't
- 3:15Speaker 1: made your picks. I just just within that short Wow. Okay,
- 3:20Speaker 1: it just shows you the thought we put into this.
- 3:22Speaker 1: With the lead that I have, I didn't really see
- 3:24Speaker 1: the needs that much much more time, and well you
- 3:27Speaker 1: also before you leave, I also keep the book, I know,
- 3:30Speaker 1: but you also have to tell us what happened last week. Yeah,
- 3:32Speaker 1: before you leave, Okay, before you leave. Okay, yeah, I
- 3:35Speaker 1: have that information as well. Okay, all right, Um, so
- 3:39Speaker 1: what's the latest on Tua? Yeah, I mean it sounds
- 3:42Speaker 1: like he's probably gonna be out with Mike McDaniel acknowledge
- 3:44Speaker 1: he did, in fact have a concussion. So I think
- 3:47Speaker 1: everybody's anticipating that he's going to be out and it'd
- 3:49Speaker 1: be Teddy Bridgewater. Um, I mean for me, the I
- 3:52Speaker 1: mean that's big news, of course, but Marcus Jones got
- 3:55Speaker 1: a concussion too. So yeah, so that's about that one. No,
- 3:59Speaker 1: what happened? That's topic number two. I think that play
- 4:02Speaker 1: that he said he got the wind knocked out the ball? Um, yeah,
- 4:09Speaker 1: I mean that was that was it? Right? That was
- 4:10Speaker 1: the last play he played, right now? He played after that,
- 4:13Speaker 1: he went back in the game. Absolutely. Yeah, I had
- 4:16Speaker 1: you had to play down the sideline. I heard people say, oh,
- 4:18Speaker 1: he just got the wind knocked out of him. I
- 4:20Speaker 1: heard people say he got the rubber pebbles in his eyes.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I had I would wonder if maybe he had because
- 4:26Speaker 1: it didn't really seem like anything happened to him, which
- 4:29Speaker 1: that leads me to believe that's when the concussion happened,
- 4:31Speaker 1: because you don't really see those yeah, you know, and
- 4:34Speaker 1: I'm just wondering if maybe that's that's what it was
- 4:37Speaker 1: really unfortunate turn of events. So it to me that's
- 4:41Speaker 1: part of the bigger question is who's going to cover
- 4:44Speaker 1: this Miami offense. Um, they're really thin at cornerback here.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I mean, Sean Wade could be you know, enlisted to action,
- 4:53Speaker 1: uh this weekend. That's not ideal. Yeah, and outside, I mean,
- 4:56Speaker 1: you really it's down to Miles Bryant, Jonathan Jones, who
- 4:59Speaker 1: also I mean we should say he's arm the injury
- 5:01Speaker 1: report two with the chest injury. So, uh, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 1: Jack Jones, Jayler Mills, Marcus Jones. Looks like like those
- 5:07Speaker 1: guys are really in doubt. But yeah, how do you
- 5:09Speaker 1: match up Miles ban John Jones, Miles brian On, Tyreek
- 5:12Speaker 1: and Waddle. I mean, even with Tuah. I was bullish
- 5:15Speaker 1: on the Patriots this weekend. I thought they're gonna but
- 5:18Speaker 1: I'm a little worried right now because listen, Bridgewater, he
- 5:22Speaker 1: may not be quite as accurate as tah but his
- 5:25Speaker 1: arm is just as good. He's got the NFL experience,
- 5:28Speaker 1: he's won in the league. He can make the throws
- 5:31Speaker 1: um just with probably a little less accuracy. So it's
- 5:35Speaker 1: not like because Bridgewaters in the game that Waddle and
- 5:39Speaker 1: Hill aren't a factor anymore. They're just as much a factor.
- 5:43Speaker 1: So this is tough sledding for the Patriots defensively and
- 5:47Speaker 1: of course offense, you know, that's a whole different conversation.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Just get the ball in their hands. I mean we
- 5:52Speaker 1: saw it, you know with Waddles touchdown just before halftime
- 5:55Speaker 1: in Week one, where you know they can take those
- 5:57Speaker 1: little slants and break a tackle and they're gone, you know,
- 6:00Speaker 1: And talking to Pellegrino, you know, really had a lot
- 6:03Speaker 1: of praise for just Mike McDaniel and the job that
- 6:05Speaker 1: he does of you know, scheming guys open and really
- 6:08Speaker 1: making things hard on defenses. And I mean that's not
- 6:10Speaker 1: going to go away either. So I think that you know,
- 6:12Speaker 1: they'll they'll have to lean a little bit maybe into
- 6:14Speaker 1: some of the design and scheme, but you certainly have
- 6:16Speaker 1: something to attack now. I have the Matriots have a
- 6:19Speaker 1: cornerback out and if you're gonna predict how the game's
- 6:22Speaker 1: gonna go, like how it will declare itself. I think
- 6:25Speaker 1: I think you're gonna see extended drives by Miami where
- 6:29Speaker 1: the Patriots have to just hold on and hope they
- 6:32Speaker 1: don't give up seven. And that puts all the pressure
- 6:35Speaker 1: on the Patriots offense. Every series is going to be
- 6:38Speaker 1: precious because the time of possession the way it looks
- 6:43Speaker 1: like it's gonna be favoring Miami by a long shot,
- 6:47Speaker 1: you know, So you're gonna have to do stuff when
- 6:49Speaker 1: you have the ball. That's a big ask. Fred. I
- 6:53Speaker 1: don't know. They haven't done stuff all year, So this
- 6:55Speaker 1: this is so you like, I'm trying to read this
- 7:00Speaker 1: because I like the Patriots in this game too. I
- 7:03Speaker 1: said it on Tuesday and I stand by that. But
- 7:08Speaker 1: if two are played, you like the Patriots, yes, but
- 7:12Speaker 1: now two is not playing and you're really concerned about
- 7:15Speaker 1: getting off because because of the cornerback situation. No, I know,
- 7:19Speaker 1: but the cornerback situation was I mean, Marcus Jones is
- 7:22Speaker 1: added to the cornerback situation. That's a really tough game
- 7:25Speaker 1: as it is, and as it is, he's not playing
- 7:27Speaker 1: in the right place when he was playing exactly, he's
- 7:30Speaker 1: not even playing so that so every time you take
- 7:33Speaker 1: someone out of the equation, it even ships away your
- 7:36Speaker 1: death in the secondary. I agree with that. I just
- 7:38Speaker 1: don't know how like they lost their quarterback, you lost
- 7:43Speaker 1: a cornerback, and you feel like less I do. I
- 7:48Speaker 1: think I think the you know, and maybe maybe maybe
- 7:51Speaker 1: you think two of stakes. No, maybe I don't necessarily disagree. No,
- 7:54Speaker 1: maybe earlier I hadn't really thought as much about the
- 7:57Speaker 1: cornerback position as I should have, you know, because they've
- 8:00Speaker 1: been getting by. You know, they certainly didn't get by
- 8:03Speaker 1: in the first half against Cincinnati, but they figured something
- 8:06Speaker 1: out in the second. Plus they got a lot of help. Um.
- 8:10Speaker 1: But this, that quarterback situation gives you pause when you
- 8:13Speaker 1: consider the weapons that Miami has. Yeah, if they had
- 8:16Speaker 1: anybody to get them the ball, I would be really
- 8:18Speaker 1: really worried. But I think that why is that? Because
- 8:22Speaker 1: I don't think he's very good. But he has done
- 8:24Speaker 1: it in the past, not not like since what pre
- 8:29Speaker 1: knee injury. No, because he has he had any successes
- 8:32Speaker 1: a little bit with the same stating knee injury, you know,
- 8:35Speaker 1: he won games. Don't make me go to my phone.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Now he won games. I mean, he didn't have a
- 8:42Speaker 1: winning He's come in and and Spurts played well now
- 8:48Speaker 1: and I think, I mean, I think in recent times
- 8:51Speaker 1: he's been dismally bad, dismally bad. Like last year in Denver,
- 8:56Speaker 1: I think he was terrible. Um well, I'd like to
- 8:59Speaker 1: see because I think starting the season he started okay
- 9:02Speaker 1: and then he just lost it, which is typical of
- 9:04Speaker 1: these types of guys. They come in, they have a game.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I'm not telling you he can't, like have a game
- 9:12Speaker 1: right one day, right if you play bad, he can.
- 9:14Speaker 1: He's not leading them to the super Bowl. I'm just
- 9:16Speaker 1: talking about this Sunday. That's all I care about, you know. Yeah. Um,
- 9:21Speaker 1: Like early in his Minnesota career he looked like he
- 9:23Speaker 1: had some promise. I don't think he's shown any promise since. Yeah,
- 9:26Speaker 1: I mean he's kind of up and down. I mean
- 9:28Speaker 1: last year with I mean, he started a bunch of
- 9:29Speaker 1: games for Denver. But what's his career record as a starter?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Career thirty five and zero, So better than like Ryan
- 9:39Speaker 1: Fitzpatrick anyway, And really the two games this year we're
- 9:42Speaker 1: Minnesota and Cincinnati. He was against Cincinnati fourteen to twenty
- 9:45Speaker 1: three hundred and ninety three yards. He didn't start. He
- 9:47Speaker 1: didn't start that game though he's only in the start
- 9:50Speaker 1: for I mean, he threw one attempt against the Jets
- 9:52Speaker 1: and then I think he got hurt. He got knocked
- 9:54Speaker 1: out of the Jets game and scottlar Thompson, and then
- 9:57Speaker 1: he came back against Minnesota twenty three or third four,
- 10:00Speaker 1: two touchdowns, two picks. I mean, he's he's middling. I
- 10:03Speaker 1: think he'll give you maybe he'll make a throw, but
- 10:04Speaker 1: I'll also probably make a pick, you know. I like
- 10:07Speaker 1: to look at what Tyreek and Dylan Wattle will do
- 10:10Speaker 1: for him too. Yeah, just just just throw it right there,
- 10:14Speaker 1: you know, not not thinking about the cornerback. Early on,
- 10:18Speaker 1: I said Patriots are gonna win this game with Tuah.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I don't think not having two and having Bridgewater is
- 10:24Speaker 1: that much of a drop off. I really don't um
- 10:28Speaker 1: the way. You know, Well, if that's the case, then
- 10:30Speaker 1: I share your concerns. If there's not much of a
- 10:34Speaker 1: drop off. I think for me the hard part was
- 10:36Speaker 1: knowing what two you're kind of getting, because I was
- 10:39Speaker 1: really impressed with him early in the season and would
- 10:41Speaker 1: have you know fully been ready to pick the Patriots
- 10:43Speaker 1: to lose if he still looked like he was playing,
- 10:45Speaker 1: you know, in the middle of the season. But you know,
- 10:46Speaker 1: initially coming out of that game last week, he felt, jeez,
- 10:49Speaker 1: he's lost it. I mean now, of course, yeah, that
- 10:51Speaker 1: counting last week because all the interceptions because of the concussion.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But they've lost four games in a row. But I
- 10:57Speaker 1: feel like if he played like he did in the
- 10:59Speaker 1: first half last week, you'd be in trouble. Yeah, or
- 11:02Speaker 1: even you know, against Buffalo, even in the Buffalo lost,
- 11:03Speaker 1: I mean, he was you know, they they fought hard.
- 11:05Speaker 1: They certainly put up more than the Patriots have the
- 11:07Speaker 1: same thing. I think you'd be in trouble if they
- 11:08Speaker 1: played like that. Yeah, But at the same time, you
- 11:11Speaker 1: just can't dismiss that, like this is it for the
- 11:13Speaker 1: Patriots defense. This is the formula they get a backup quarterback.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Usually this is when they go into berserker mode. And yeah,
- 11:19Speaker 1: but you know that's why he's not Sam Ellinger. And
- 11:22Speaker 1: I think he's better than Jacoby Brissette. Bridgewater, Um, for sure,
- 11:27Speaker 1: I agree. I agree he's better than Brissette. You know,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I would agree with you on that, But you're in
- 11:31Speaker 1: the you're in the same neighborhood with those tubs. Depends
- 11:34Speaker 1: on the day, but right, yeah, he's probably with Trubisky.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Probably with Trubisky, he's a guy who who can start.
- 11:40Speaker 1: But isn't it really a starter? Right? Yep? Yeah, so
- 11:44Speaker 1: there's no givens here. Yeah, well with the Patriots off, David,
- 11:49Speaker 1: no givens. I mean just I mean, it just goes
- 11:52Speaker 1: back to the point. I feel like we made a
- 11:54Speaker 1: lot here in the last like quarter of the season,
- 11:55Speaker 1: which is just that, you know, as much as you
- 11:57Speaker 1: can say these are things that the Patriots could take
- 11:58Speaker 1: advantage over the other team, it's hard to really believe
- 12:01Speaker 1: it because they killed themselves more more often than not. Yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 1: if you if you told me that the Patriots are
- 12:06Speaker 1: gonna score over twenty five twenty five to twenty eight points,
- 12:09Speaker 1: I'd really I'd say done, we're gonna win me too,
- 12:13Speaker 1: But I can't. You can't guarantee that you get to
- 12:17Speaker 1: the high twenties you win. Yeah, I would agree with that.
- 12:21Speaker 1: You know, what's the last time they scored over twenty
- 12:25Speaker 1: offensive points? Well, in a game offensive points? You know,
- 12:31Speaker 1: maybe Cleveland Minnesota? Right, did they get those offensive they
- 12:35Speaker 1: had twenty twenty right, twenty points anyway, I mean they
- 12:42Speaker 1: broke they got thirty eight against the Browns. Yeah, but
- 12:45Speaker 1: how many were the offensive? I know, I'm just saying overall, Uh,
- 12:49Speaker 1: like they had twenty six against Minnesota, so they probably yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 1: that was probably twenty three offensive. Anyway, that's the only
- 12:56Speaker 1: time they had to pick I know, they had to
- 12:57Speaker 1: pick three in that game, right, So you know, I
- 13:02Speaker 1: get back to time of possession and the you know,
- 13:06Speaker 1: every series being precious. You know, you have to do
- 13:09Speaker 1: something when you have the ball. Yeah, I go back
- 13:12Speaker 1: to I think. I mean, I just feel like some
- 13:14Speaker 1: of these are like rotating cast of characters of you know,
- 13:16Speaker 1: stop the run and you know, because but I just
- 13:19Speaker 1: think a good start. It was kind of what we
- 13:20Speaker 1: talked about yesterday. It's just you know, can you maybe
- 13:23Speaker 1: get a little something going, maybe have some confidence in
- 13:25Speaker 1: what you're doing, because you know, as much as I
- 13:28Speaker 1: I just think they come out and they play bad
- 13:30Speaker 1: and then it kind of snowballs on them and then
- 13:32Speaker 1: you know they need in the second half of a
- 13:35Speaker 1: bounce or you know, a mistake that the point I
- 13:38Speaker 1: was making cons you know, and it's always the defense
- 13:40Speaker 1: that does it. Usually that's the pattern that they like
- 13:43Speaker 1: a special play, fall behind, and then put yourself in
- 13:46Speaker 1: a situation where, over the next thirty minutes, if we
- 13:49Speaker 1: can do absolutely everything perfectly on all three phases, we
- 13:52Speaker 1: have a chance to win. And that happened against Cincinnati,
- 13:56Speaker 1: except for they couldn't get the last score right to
- 14:00Speaker 1: take the lead. Um. I just think that's a really
- 14:04Speaker 1: really tough way. I mean, I think ninety nine point
- 14:07Speaker 1: nine percent of the games that you do that you're
- 14:09Speaker 1: gonna lose. I think about you'll lose one, you'll win
- 14:11Speaker 1: one once in a one, think about it not often.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Think about all the mistakes that Cincinnati made in the
- 14:15Speaker 1: second half. If the Patriots had made half those, it
- 14:18Speaker 1: wouldn't even make him close. Yeah, that's like every every
- 14:21Speaker 1: second half. Now, it was like the twenty eight to
- 14:22Speaker 1: three game, Like you just need them perfect, like everything
- 14:24Speaker 1: to line up right. It's like even if you like
- 14:27Speaker 1: everything that the Bengals did wrong, if you eliminated, if
- 14:30Speaker 1: you if you just said everything that they did wrong,
- 14:32Speaker 1: they did wrong, with the exception of the guy not
- 14:35Speaker 1: dropping the pass on the end zone, we're not even
- 14:37Speaker 1: talking about anything right, just that one play. Now, like
- 14:40Speaker 1: Fred says, there was ten plays that you could point to.
- 14:44Speaker 1: So every week we think, Okay, this is the week
- 14:49Speaker 1: that they're gonna get it so offensively, this is the
- 14:51Speaker 1: week that they're gonna get it together. I thought like,
- 14:55Speaker 1: and you can correct me, Mike and um, Alex if
- 14:57Speaker 1: you were in on some of these things yesterday too,
- 15:00Speaker 1: it seemed like there was a ground swell of you know, um,
- 15:05Speaker 1: sort of let it rip a little bit in the
- 15:06Speaker 1: second half Born making plays. Have they unlocked something? Is that?
- 15:14Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not even gonna argue whether or not
- 15:16Speaker 1: they unlocked anything in the last game. Okay, I'll leave
- 15:18Speaker 1: those kind of arguments to someone else. But do you
- 15:23Speaker 1: think that that might be a like a path that
- 15:26Speaker 1: they could do this week instead of you know, sort
- 15:30Speaker 1: of spending a quarter and a half two quarters, you know,
- 15:34Speaker 1: mixing things up and trying to run and doing different
- 15:36Speaker 1: things and going with the shoot, like just let it
- 15:38Speaker 1: rip and maybe and I'm not saying let it rip
- 15:41Speaker 1: down the field necessary, I'm just saying, like, you know,
- 15:44Speaker 1: try to get the ball in Bourne's hands and make
- 15:47Speaker 1: some plays. And is that is that a path to
- 15:50Speaker 1: offensive production? Yes? I think we've seen it from him
- 15:53Speaker 1: in like tiny little flashes all season when they actually
- 15:56Speaker 1: throw it to him and then yeah, it doesn't drop it.
- 15:59Speaker 1: It tends to be a big play. Yeah, I mean
- 16:01Speaker 1: more more so, and just in terms of the approach,
- 16:03Speaker 1: but yeah, I mean me personally, I think you'll have
- 16:06Speaker 1: the same Do you think that there are the same
- 16:08Speaker 1: mistakes that you've had, you'll you'll have right. Do you
- 16:10Speaker 1: think that there will be any repercussions from for Stevenson
- 16:14Speaker 1: for the fumble? No, I don't think they can at
- 16:17Speaker 1: this point to Yeah, I mean, and you know, at
- 16:21Speaker 1: a certain level, I agree with it. What are they
- 16:23Speaker 1: going to bench him? And well what if Harris is ready?
- 16:25Speaker 1: To know? When was the last time you saw Harris?
- 16:28Speaker 1: So you're gonna put the season on the line with
- 16:30Speaker 1: a guy like fresh legs, five weeks fresh legs? I think, uh,
- 16:33Speaker 1: you know, I think the bigger thing I took away
- 16:35Speaker 1: Paul from, you know, listening to the pressers yesterday, Um,
- 16:39Speaker 1: I think we're all surprised that they're kind of still
- 16:41Speaker 1: in it. It seems just like they're kind of embracing
- 16:43Speaker 1: it and being like, you know, Bill even saying like fun,
- 16:46Speaker 1: you know, like like it just seems like they're like flush,
- 16:49Speaker 1: what we've done, we have a real opportunity here for
- 16:51Speaker 1: this one game to you know, really make a statement,
- 16:54Speaker 1: to make a playoff game, and let's you know, kind
- 16:56Speaker 1: of put all the baggage that we've been carrying with
- 16:58Speaker 1: us down and just try to set and refocus on
- 17:01Speaker 1: this week. That was kind of the vibe that I
- 17:02Speaker 1: got from them, you know, I almost a little bit
- 17:05Speaker 1: of the same surprise that you have, of like, can
- 17:08Speaker 1: you believe that you have your own playoff fight in
- 17:11Speaker 1: your hands? And you're you know, seven and eight right now.
- 17:14Speaker 1: So we'll see. But I agree with what Paul kind
- 17:17Speaker 1: of said. I'm like, it's great in theory, you can
- 17:19Speaker 1: try anything you want, But I think ultimately the mistakes
- 17:21Speaker 1: and just the mental aspect of the game that they
- 17:23Speaker 1: don't have down is ultimately going to be what causes
- 17:26Speaker 1: them problem is. And I have no other expectations of
- 17:28Speaker 1: this game other than it's gonna be sloppy kind of
- 17:30Speaker 1: back and forth and it's gonna come down before And
- 17:32Speaker 1: I don't think you can play when it's zero zero
- 17:34Speaker 1: the same way you play when it's twenty two to zero. Like,
- 17:37Speaker 1: I don't think you can have that same yeah approach,
- 17:40Speaker 1: you shouldn't. I mean, you can go help out the
- 17:42Speaker 1: leather for sixty minutes if you want, But I don't
- 17:44Speaker 1: think that's a really smart way to play. No, you
- 17:46Speaker 1: play eight to win the game. Yeah, I mean, it's
- 17:50Speaker 1: I just I mean, I know there wasn't what you
- 17:51Speaker 1: were getting at Paul with, but you know, just like
- 17:53Speaker 1: getting back to like the mac mistakes and then like
- 17:55Speaker 1: you know, she's starting to throw picks again. You know,
- 17:58Speaker 1: like that's the road that I'm scared of because then
- 18:00Speaker 1: it then it really starts to implode. But I just
- 18:03Speaker 1: don't know how you prevent really any of it. But
- 18:05Speaker 1: I also think there's a lot of there's a lot
- 18:07Speaker 1: of subtlety that I am not you know, I'm not
- 18:10Speaker 1: going to tell you exactly how it manifests on the field,
- 18:13Speaker 1: but I'm sorry, but there's a difference between a way
- 18:16Speaker 1: a team plays when it's up twenty two to nothing
- 18:18Speaker 1: as opposed to the first drive of the game. Right. Yeah,
- 18:21Speaker 1: So some of those plays are like, Okay, he made
- 18:23Speaker 1: it that in the World Cup. He made an incredible
- 18:26Speaker 1: throw I thought into a tight window to Born on
- 18:28Speaker 1: the sideline where Born made that great catch getting his
- 18:31Speaker 1: feet in bounds. Does that same play happen if they're
- 18:36Speaker 1: playing sort of conventionally. I don't know, like even like
- 18:40Speaker 1: forgetting even the hail Mary, Like you, is that what
- 18:44Speaker 1: you're gonna do the next game? So let's say it's
- 18:47Speaker 1: let's say it's third and twenty nine, because you got
- 18:50Speaker 1: a you know, a couple of penalties and it backed
- 18:52Speaker 1: you up, Zack, you know what you're gonna do. You're
- 18:55Speaker 1: gonna throw a shallow crosser to try to get fifteen
- 18:58Speaker 1: yards and see if maybe you can kick field goal.
- 19:00Speaker 1: You're not just throwing it up blind in the end
- 19:02Speaker 1: zone with four Bengals there in Scotty Washington almost forgot
- 19:06Speaker 1: his name, Um, you know, trying to high point it.
- 19:10Speaker 1: You're not gonna just throwing up for grabs if it's
- 19:12Speaker 1: if it's ten to seven and that as opposed to
- 19:14Speaker 1: twenty two to six or whatever it was at the time, right,
- 19:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Like like that was right?
- 19:20Speaker 1: That was probably the best play offensively in the whole game. Yeah,
- 19:24Speaker 1: Like can you do that? I don't think you can
- 19:26Speaker 1: play that way? I don't, like, I know, I read
- 19:29Speaker 1: a lot of stuff today like they just gotta let
- 19:31Speaker 1: it rip. And I'm not really worried about Mac letting
- 19:34Speaker 1: it rip and throwing three picks. I mean, if that happens,
- 19:36Speaker 1: that happens. I don't I'm not really concerned about that.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I'm just concerned. I don't think you can play that
- 19:41Speaker 1: way well and expect to win. You know, the Patriots typically,
- 19:46Speaker 1: you know, they don't do that until the game declares itself.
- 19:50Speaker 1: They you know, they kind of it's like a boxing match.
- 19:53Speaker 1: They kind of feel out the other teams, see what
- 19:54Speaker 1: they're doing on defense. And I think it's easy to
- 19:57Speaker 1: say if they had just done that the whole game, well,
- 20:00Speaker 1: if you had just done that the whole game, you
- 20:02Speaker 1: would have got burned. You probably would have turned it
- 20:04Speaker 1: over more than once. You only turned it over once
- 20:06Speaker 1: in the game. You probably would have turned it over
- 20:08Speaker 1: more than Like I go. You know, I made the
- 20:09Speaker 1: World Cup analogy. You know, you get those teams that
- 20:11Speaker 1: are down one nothing late or two nothing, and all
- 20:14Speaker 1: of a sudden they turn it up and they have
- 20:16Speaker 1: all these opportunities. But we also saw when they do
- 20:19Speaker 1: counter attack. The counter attack, now there's two guys, it's
- 20:22Speaker 1: a two on one, and they score. Like that's like
- 20:24Speaker 1: Deuce turning back to his defense partner and say, you
- 20:27Speaker 1: got that that two on one right, I just pinched
- 20:29Speaker 1: along the boards. I'm I'm looking to make a play. Guy.
- 20:32Speaker 1: It was like when when you open it up, you
- 20:35Speaker 1: leave yourself vulnerable in football, to the turnover, to the
- 20:39Speaker 1: big mistake, you know. Yeah, yeah, that's I just I'd
- 20:44Speaker 1: love to see just a game that was low on penalties,
- 20:47Speaker 1: low on turnovers, you know, just low on mistakes. Right,
- 20:49Speaker 1: you know, I have a game, I mean, I like
- 20:52Speaker 1: the I'm about have a game where the other team
- 20:53Speaker 1: doesn't have the ball for like thirty eight minutes. Man, Yeah,
- 20:56Speaker 1: get off the field like you're actually that means you're
- 20:58Speaker 1: actually executing on offense. Yeah, you know. I feel like,
- 21:02Speaker 1: you know, the defense we talked about a little bit yesterday.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I think like there's a lot of you know, interesting
- 21:07Speaker 1: analysis of the defense, and I feel like there's a
- 21:10Speaker 1: little bit of a disconnect because I think, and we
- 21:12Speaker 1: kind of think touched on a little bit yesterday of
- 21:14Speaker 1: I think they're pretty good defense, but not in some
- 21:18Speaker 1: aspects and like and then I see like they got
- 21:19Speaker 1: a lot of sacks and third down that's like, you know,
- 21:23Speaker 1: like you look at some of the rankings and you're like, well,
- 21:26Speaker 1: this isn't matching up. I think that they're a good defense.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I don't think they're a top three defense, you know,
- 21:30Speaker 1: but a lot. I think the pressure, their pressure has
- 21:33Speaker 1: been good. But I think that's the third down that
- 21:36Speaker 1: you know that I think they're like twenty first, you know,
- 21:38Speaker 1: I think, and it's it's just interesting because they have
- 21:41Speaker 1: a pretty good pass rush. They have a pretty good front.
- 21:44Speaker 1: But I think, you know, Evan can probably correct me.
- 21:47Speaker 1: But I think on third down, you know, when it's
- 21:50Speaker 1: that obvious long passing situation, I think they're afraid to
- 21:54Speaker 1: just sell out, and I think they they more often
- 21:57Speaker 1: drop back and hope that they can cut over and
- 22:00Speaker 1: they can't. Yeah. Well, I mean they certainly sold out,
- 22:03Speaker 1: you know a couple of times last last game. But
- 22:06Speaker 1: I mean they picked their spots for it. Um. I
- 22:08Speaker 1: just I mean, I mean, Badar wrote something today and
- 22:10Speaker 1: he's kind of banging the number one corner, which you
- 22:12Speaker 1: know I agree with. I mean, I just I think,
- 22:14Speaker 1: you know, oh, to get it. So he was listening
- 22:16Speaker 1: to the Deuce and Paul Draft podcasts, right, get them
- 22:20Speaker 1: get a number one. We're going back ten months now. Yeah,
- 22:23Speaker 1: I mean I think that they've held up as pretty
- 22:26Speaker 1: well considering the injuries that they've had. Um but you know,
- 22:29Speaker 1: I think ultimately over the course of the season, it
- 22:32Speaker 1: just hasn't They haven't had good enough coverage on the
- 22:34Speaker 1: back end. And I would, you know, just say, looking
- 22:36Speaker 1: forward to next year, you're you're going to get a
- 22:38Speaker 1: lot of this pass rush guys back. I mean Ja's back,
- 22:40Speaker 1: Judan to be back, Farmore's back. Why is this back?
- 22:43Speaker 1: You know? So you have those guys picking up the
- 22:46Speaker 1: pace in the secondary, getting you know, getting a number
- 22:48Speaker 1: one kind of guy, and then they can kind of
- 22:50Speaker 1: slide things down a little bit. What's more important left
- 22:53Speaker 1: tackle or number one corner? Yeah, I think they were
- 22:57Speaker 1: equal importance that between those two and and and a
- 22:59Speaker 1: really good wife receiver receiver, I think those are you know,
- 23:02Speaker 1: I throw off the ball linebacker in there too, just
- 23:05Speaker 1: you know, an instinctual fast guy who who makes plays.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And I know people are on the Jawan Bentley kind
- 23:13Speaker 1: of high trains lately. He has played well. I just
- 23:16Speaker 1: I think that he's fine in conventional games early on
- 23:19Speaker 1: and was getting is what you need. You need that
- 23:28Speaker 1: guy who sees the plays before they happen, and and
- 23:31Speaker 1: and especially are able to read through all the mesh
- 23:35Speaker 1: points stuff like that. The Ravens, and I mean, I
- 23:36Speaker 1: just think you pop on as everyone. You pop on
- 23:38Speaker 1: the tape the Ravens game. I mean I pop on
- 23:41Speaker 1: the tape of the Ravens. Uh. You know that's when
- 23:43Speaker 1: you see like they just they can't compete with these
- 23:46Speaker 1: kind of teams. And it even is a little bit
- 23:47Speaker 1: of crossover. I would say to Mahomes and you know,
- 23:49Speaker 1: not that those are the same, but you know just
- 23:52Speaker 1: how much hum invest in your defense to plan for
- 23:55Speaker 1: rushing quarterbacks when you might only see a couple of years,
- 23:57Speaker 1: but you might see the Ravens in the playoffs, and
- 24:00Speaker 1: then you're really going to hope that you know you
- 24:01Speaker 1: have the ability to kind of morph and deal with
- 24:03Speaker 1: those guys, because I just don't think they can. They.
- 24:06Speaker 1: I mean, they seem schematically shorthand to me. Though. The
- 24:08Speaker 1: only downside about having a defense that is geared to
- 24:12Speaker 1: stopping a mobile quarterback is that maybe they're too small
- 24:15Speaker 1: when you come up against a team that wants to
- 24:18Speaker 1: just bash your head in. But how many teams do that?
- 24:20Speaker 1: Since I have no problem with that, right, bash my
- 24:22Speaker 1: head in all day? When you have your seventeen points
- 24:24Speaker 1: at the end of So speed is good no matter what,
- 24:28Speaker 1: you know, Like, okay, so that they don't have a
- 24:31Speaker 1: mobile quarterback, I can still use speed to stop them. Yeah,
- 24:35Speaker 1: you know it's so it's like I'd rather do it
- 24:38Speaker 1: that way than have this team that's you know, built
- 24:40Speaker 1: to stop the run, because there's only a few teams
- 24:43Speaker 1: that really rely on that. You know, did you read
- 24:45Speaker 1: the Badard break because I thought, I mean, I thought
- 24:49Speaker 1: that was more in line with how I felt like
- 24:51Speaker 1: the game win on Saturday, which is rare because, honest
- 24:54Speaker 1: to God, and you guys know, I tease Greg all
- 24:56Speaker 1: the time, I almost never see the game the same
- 24:58Speaker 1: way he does. But I just thought it was interesting
- 25:01Speaker 1: the way he pointed out, you know, the amount of
- 25:04Speaker 1: things that that Cincinnati did to itself, Yeah, as opposed
- 25:08Speaker 1: to And I think he had the numbers to back
- 25:10Speaker 1: it up, because sometimes I just go by, you know,
- 25:14Speaker 1: just kind of like what I feel. It's I have
- 25:15Speaker 1: a lot of anecdotal stuff. He had the numbers to
- 25:18Speaker 1: back it up. When they play good good quarterbacks, good
- 25:21Speaker 1: good passing offense, is good offense. They haven't really even
- 25:24Speaker 1: been as he called it, a speed bump. Yeah, they're
- 25:27Speaker 1: just getting trounced. I just I just think I don't
- 25:28Speaker 1: think the defense is that far away from having a
- 25:32Speaker 1: defense that could be part of a complimentary team that wins.
- 25:34Speaker 1: To see, I don't think they are that there are
- 25:35Speaker 1: a few pieces away. They definitely need some pieces, but
- 25:38Speaker 1: I don't think that it's I mean, when you look
- 25:39Speaker 1: at it and compared to the comparison to the offense,
- 25:41Speaker 1: which just feels like we need to start over the problem.
- 25:44Speaker 1: So go back in time, right instead of taking Taekwon
- 25:48Speaker 1: Thornton in the second round, you know what about one
- 25:50Speaker 1: of those speedy linebackers. Well, I mean it looks fine
- 25:53Speaker 1: in retroster. I mean I think you need both. I
- 25:55Speaker 1: mean I think, you know, I think that speed at
- 25:57Speaker 1: wide receiver position is going to be another priority this year.
- 25:59Speaker 1: So it's hard to say, like, well can't I mean,
- 26:01Speaker 1: it's easy to say now given what we've seen from
- 26:03Speaker 1: Taekwon Thornton to cancel out taking him. But I still
- 26:06Speaker 1: at the time like the idea of trying to get
- 26:08Speaker 1: faster and happening. Or you can even reach back into
- 26:10Speaker 1: the first round and say, you know what, we can
- 26:12Speaker 1: get a guard to do with Ian and let's take
- 26:16Speaker 1: you know, somebody in the first take Devin Lloyd in
- 26:18Speaker 1: the first round, and then have taken Pickens take or
- 26:22Speaker 1: you a guy um Alec Pierce, who I didn't love,
- 26:25Speaker 1: but it's made some plays as an outside guys, come
- 26:28Speaker 1: on late, Um, you know, guy Pickens has had a
- 26:31Speaker 1: pretty good year playing with you know, a rookie and
- 26:33Speaker 1: a backup. Um. You know, I know he hasn't been perfect.
- 26:37Speaker 1: He's kind of raw. Sky Moore I think is more
- 26:40Speaker 1: of a niche player. Um, but I mean I liked him,
- 26:43Speaker 1: and I liked the idea of him, but he's he's
- 26:45Speaker 1: more of a niche player. I think that would have
- 26:47Speaker 1: been they needed someone I think that could make plays
- 26:50Speaker 1: on the outside. Let's say you Pickens or or Pierce
- 26:53Speaker 1: could have done that. Yeah, I would have liked to
- 26:56Speaker 1: see more in depth than the secondary. Um. I had
- 26:59Speaker 1: that take coming in. Jonathan Jones kind of pleasantly surprised me.
- 27:02Speaker 1: But I mean, last last week, Miles Bryant is getting burned,
- 27:07Speaker 1: Marcus Jones before the concussion getting burned. They're just I
- 27:10Speaker 1: don't know this. I don't know if it's size or
- 27:14Speaker 1: that has a lot to do with it. The Cole strange,
- 27:16Speaker 1: there's a reason why strange pick could be, I mean
- 27:20Speaker 1: could hurt the team. For we love like Marcus Jones
- 27:22Speaker 1: and Jack Jones have given us, certainly Marcus all over
- 27:25Speaker 1: the place, and I think they've they're ahead of schedule
- 27:29Speaker 1: when it comes to great picks. Were relying. They weren't
- 27:34Speaker 1: in a last week. They were picked in what the
- 27:36Speaker 1: third and fourth round. The problem with Marcus Jones is
- 27:40Speaker 1: in this particular game, I completely absolved I mean, I
- 27:44Speaker 1: know I have a crush on Marcus Jones. I completely
- 27:46Speaker 1: absolve him of all responsibilities. I told you at the
- 27:49Speaker 1: end of when we did the post game show and hard,
- 27:52Speaker 1: he said, don't steal my good and I took someone.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I was like, is that you're good? He goes no,
- 27:55Speaker 1: I was gonna go I go oh. I didn't have him.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I didn't have him on the good list, despite the
- 28:01Speaker 1: fact that he completely changed the game with his pick six,
- 28:03Speaker 1: because I watched the rest of the place, and I
- 28:05Speaker 1: didn't have him on the bad list either, because he
- 28:08Speaker 1: completely changed the game with a pick six, right, so
- 28:10Speaker 1: he falls in the middle. He made he made a
- 28:12Speaker 1: really good play and he got beat a lot. I
- 28:14Speaker 1: completely absolved him for getting beat a lot You're not
- 28:18Speaker 1: asking a five eight slot guy to cover t Higgins
- 28:21Speaker 1: on the outside. They had to do. That's not because
- 28:23Speaker 1: Bill's dumb. They had to do the last game. They
- 28:28Speaker 1: had had to do that, you know. And I think
- 28:33Speaker 1: you know Greg had the numbers that he got beat
- 28:35Speaker 1: six times or something like that for big plays in
- 28:38Speaker 1: that game, like he was on both. Yeah. Yeah, that's
- 28:43Speaker 1: why I said. I almost never see the game the
- 28:45Speaker 1: way Greg does, but I saw that game the way Greg. Yeah,
- 28:48Speaker 1: all right, eight five five Pats five hundred is the
- 28:50Speaker 1: ace ticket outline web radio at Patriots dot com. Is
- 28:53Speaker 1: the email address lots. If I watched film lots of
- 28:56Speaker 1: emails coming on the tape, then it would just be
- 29:01Speaker 1: over for all of us. There is one email I
- 29:03Speaker 1: wanted to read. It came in last week, but I
- 29:06Speaker 1: just want to read it because it makes me feel good.
- 29:10Speaker 1: He says. This is from Captain Kirk Are, also known
- 29:14Speaker 1: as Sean starting to Quebec. He says, Um, I don't
- 29:18Speaker 1: know if you'll get a chance to read this, Toby,
- 29:19Speaker 1: I am. I've only been listening for about twelve years.
- 29:22Speaker 1: I found PFW in Progress by accident while searching for podcasts.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I was instantly hooked and have not missed an episode.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I've been a huge fan of the Patriots since the
- 29:30Speaker 1: early nineties. It has become a family affair. As I
- 29:32Speaker 1: started watching the games by myself, and as time went on,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I was joined by my girlfriend, who became my wife
- 29:37Speaker 1: and eventually my daughters. Late last spring I was going
- 29:40Speaker 1: about eventually became his daughter. No, the wife of the
- 29:44Speaker 1: girlfriend became his daughter. Oh, and he had a daughter.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Late last spring, as I was going about life, I
- 29:52Speaker 1: found out that I had cancer. At the time, I
- 29:54Speaker 1: was forty eight, and it took everyone, including the doctors,
- 29:57Speaker 1: by surprise. It was aggressive and it just started to
- 30:00Speaker 1: spread to my limp notes I had surgery to have chemotherapy.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I would save the podcast to listen to during treatments,
- 30:06Speaker 1: and it always helped. I tried not to laugh out loud,
- 30:08Speaker 1: as it was kind of frowned on, but there were
- 30:11Speaker 1: times I wanted to. You all really brought my spirits
- 30:13Speaker 1: up as the team itself struggled, but I was just
- 30:16Speaker 1: happy to still be able to watch. I've also never
- 30:19Speaker 1: missed the blog, even for as long as I've been
- 30:21Speaker 1: listening to the podcast, even preseason. Sent a letter to
- 30:24Speaker 1: mister crafts. Thank you also last year, expressing my gratitude
- 30:28Speaker 1: for everything, including the show. I've since completed my treatment
- 30:31Speaker 1: and although I've been left with neuropathy in my hands
- 30:35Speaker 1: and feet, I'm cancer free and it looks like the
- 30:38Speaker 1: show has cured me. So there you go. So he
- 30:42Speaker 1: just wanted to let us know. So that's that's that's
- 30:44Speaker 1: a good email, friend. You were right to say that.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I just want to read it because it makes me
- 30:48Speaker 1: feel good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's not the first
- 30:52Speaker 1: person we've cured of cancer. No, but you know, it's
- 30:54Speaker 1: just good that, like people get enjoyment out of us
- 30:58Speaker 1: even when times aren't going. Yeah, it's great to hear. Yeah,
- 31:01Speaker 1: great to hear it. Thank you for sending you a
- 31:03Speaker 1: little bit. You don't hear that about your others shows? No,
- 31:06Speaker 1: they cause it, right, they don't. Right, you drove me
- 31:09Speaker 1: to the drink. They caused it for your articles. All right,
- 31:13Speaker 1: So we'll get into some emails. We get some calls
- 31:15Speaker 1: at eight five five five hundred taking out lines, So
- 31:17Speaker 1: let's take some of those. Two Mike's in Puerto Rico.
- 31:20Speaker 1: What's up, Mike? Hey, everybody, happy holidays. Thanks Mike. I
- 31:28Speaker 1: called a couple of weeks ago about having buyer's remorse
- 31:32Speaker 1: about going to the Arizona and to the Las Vegas game. Right, Um,
- 31:36Speaker 1: let's let's just say that the Las Vegas experience was
- 31:40Speaker 1: one of a kind and historical um in every sense
- 31:43Speaker 1: of the words. But a couple of mankes um, I guess,
- 31:48Speaker 1: open for discussion. The first of all, the reason was
- 31:54Speaker 1: Matt Patricia the reason that um Butler didn't play in
- 31:58Speaker 1: that Super Bowl or part of the reason why Butler
- 32:01Speaker 1: didn't play in the Super Bowl. We don't know for sure,
- 32:04Speaker 1: but it's been mentioned that you know, he had some
- 32:07Speaker 1: type of confrontation with him, But we don't know. Man,
- 32:10Speaker 1: No one knows for sure what happened, but most probably
- 32:13Speaker 1: our odds for that Super Bowl would have improved if
- 32:16Speaker 1: he would have played. And I transposed that too and
- 32:21Speaker 1: open for open for conversation. Born not playing this year?
- 32:26Speaker 1: Is it Matt Patricia related? And it's having the same
- 32:29Speaker 1: time type of effect of just not being able to
- 32:33Speaker 1: put the best team out there because of XO Y reason.
- 32:37Speaker 1: And then the other topic of discussion is is it
- 32:41Speaker 1: best for the what's best for the team to squeak
- 32:44Speaker 1: into the win This last two games, squeak into the playoffs,
- 32:48Speaker 1: I have a minor chance of winning the first game
- 32:52Speaker 1: or just losing the last two. So that way, there's
- 32:55Speaker 1: no excuse. There's nothing can be said as far as like, oh,
- 32:59Speaker 1: we just need a little bit more time with the
- 33:01Speaker 1: current system and this and the program that we were running. Um,
- 33:05Speaker 1: it'll be better next year. Listen. I think squeaking in
- 33:08Speaker 1: and having a chance to win a game isn't going
- 33:10Speaker 1: to change anything that we saw this year, you know.
- 33:13Speaker 1: So yeah, now, I listen, if we have a chance
- 33:17Speaker 1: to get in and let's get in, let's get in.
- 33:20Speaker 1: But that doesn't you know, in my mind, doesn't change
- 33:23Speaker 1: anything that I've seen and I couldn't bills. That doesn't
- 33:27Speaker 1: matter and doesn't change anything in Robert Crafts mine, you know.
- 33:31Speaker 1: And I think we can get into that. Yeah, but
- 33:36Speaker 1: we should talk about that because it's a big topic
- 33:40Speaker 1: about like what happens in the offseason. But yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 33:43Speaker 1: thanks Mike. Um, I would just just just a quick
- 33:46Speaker 1: point to make, Um, I just I think he I
- 33:48Speaker 1: don't know for sure if this is what he was
- 33:50Speaker 1: getting at, but I feel like people are now getting
- 33:51Speaker 1: back into that. Well, if you just played Kendrick Bourne more,
- 33:53Speaker 1: he would have had a great season, and like there's
- 33:55Speaker 1: just not really a correlation between great. I mean there's
- 33:59Speaker 1: also been times if he just like drops the ball
- 34:01Speaker 1: for no apparent reason, or you know, is standing right
- 34:04Speaker 1: next to Jonah Smith when Jonah Smith Mike was trying to,
- 34:09Speaker 1: you know, connect the dots between Patricia in both he
- 34:13Speaker 1: was involved in both the situations. I'm sorry, but it's Bill.
- 34:16Speaker 1: It's Bill Belichi. If Bill, if Bill wants Malcolm Brown
- 34:19Speaker 1: to play, I don't Malcolm Butler. I don't care what happened.
- 34:23Speaker 1: He would have played. If you wanted Kendrick Bourne to
- 34:25Speaker 1: play this year, I don't care what he did, he
- 34:27Speaker 1: would be playing. I agree, he's the boss. As he said,
- 34:31Speaker 1: if it doesn't work, I'm the head coach, right, blame me, right,
- 34:35Speaker 1: Like he's not letting anything happen this year that he's
- 34:39Speaker 1: strongly against, you know, so he was on board with
- 34:44Speaker 1: any decision that was made back then and now totally.
- 34:48Speaker 1: And I feel like Bourne feeds into this thing of
- 34:50Speaker 1: like just let cut it loose. I mean, I think
- 34:52Speaker 1: what you're kind of implying is just going to Kenrick Bourne. Yeah,
- 34:55Speaker 1: Like that's kind of what it. Yeah, And I'm not
- 34:57Speaker 1: suggesting that Bourne shouldn't be playing more than he is.
- 34:59Speaker 1: I think he should, you know, I think there's something
- 35:02Speaker 1: to be said of like you're really working to get
- 35:04Speaker 1: you young guys time. But like I think Taekwon Thornton
- 35:08Speaker 1: has had a lot of opportunities, He's played a lot
- 35:11Speaker 1: of snaps. I think he's shown that he's not really
- 35:13Speaker 1: ready for the amount of work that he's gotten. So
- 35:17Speaker 1: if you really truly have the goal of maximizing this season,
- 35:22Speaker 1: I think but one should get those snaps over Taekwon Thornton.
- 35:25Speaker 1: But if you're looking at both, then I understand what
- 35:28Speaker 1: they're doing. I could see him like, what could he
- 35:31Speaker 1: have done that was so egregious that to this point
- 35:34Speaker 1: in the season where they can't get anything going on
- 35:38Speaker 1: offense except when he like occasionally makes well, there's no
- 35:41Speaker 1: particular reason, but there are several ways. That's not what
- 35:44Speaker 1: he said. He said no particular He said, no particular reason, right,
- 35:49Speaker 1: because you're ready, you're reading into something there that's not
- 35:52Speaker 1: necessarily act. I know, but they're not what we do.
- 35:55Speaker 1: He could be saying there are many reasons, not one,
- 35:57Speaker 1: and he could be he could be saying, and I
- 35:59Speaker 1: don't want to answer your question. Yeah, no particular reason
- 36:04Speaker 1: has worked out seventeen and well. And I think what
- 36:08Speaker 1: you're getting out Alex too. And what's hard is that
- 36:11Speaker 1: kenneck Bourne's so likable and has such a good energy
- 36:13Speaker 1: about him that you feel like this is what you
- 36:15Speaker 1: don't like him, pall. And I think he has a
- 36:18Speaker 1: good energy for the team, and I think I think
- 36:22Speaker 1: he's been a very negative presence in that locker room
- 36:24Speaker 1: all year. I think he's been calling out the coaches
- 36:27Speaker 1: and the play calling. And I don't like that. I
- 36:30Speaker 1: really don't. I don't think it helps. I was born
- 36:33Speaker 1: in it. And if friend's right, and it's no particular reason,
- 36:38Speaker 1: it's a lot of reasons that you shouldn't be on
- 36:39Speaker 1: the team. I'm not playing a guy who there's a
- 36:42Speaker 1: lot of reasons for me not playing him. None of
- 36:45Speaker 1: them can be football related, because every time he gets
- 36:47Speaker 1: on the team, he gets in the game generally he
- 36:49Speaker 1: does something. So it's all these non football things and those,
- 36:53Speaker 1: to me are that's the reason you lose your job.
- 36:56Speaker 1: And he's here. So I don't think that those reasons
- 36:59Speaker 1: are of them. Some of them could be football related.
- 37:03Speaker 1: In that. Yeah, he's good when you know, things break
- 37:05Speaker 1: down and we're desperate and we're playing schoolyard ball and
- 37:07Speaker 1: we just have to huck it up. But when we're
- 37:10Speaker 1: within the guardrails and we're trying to execute the game plan,
- 37:14Speaker 1: he's not running the right route. Okay, not getting the calls.
- 37:17Speaker 1: So get him off the team, you know, move on
- 37:19Speaker 1: with somebody else. Yeah, because when you don't play him,
- 37:22Speaker 1: then he goes in the locker room after the game
- 37:24Speaker 1: and he pitches about the play calls. Yeah. Yeah, Well,
- 37:27Speaker 1: I mean I would, I mean, I would say if
- 37:28Speaker 1: what you're getting at is correct, And I don't know
- 37:30Speaker 1: what I'm saying is correct either. No, no, no, no no,
- 37:33Speaker 1: And I'm not I'm not saying what I'm saying is
- 37:35Speaker 1: I'm telling you that's I mean, But I'm saying, if
- 37:37Speaker 1: it is correct, then I think you do have to
- 37:38Speaker 1: get rid of them, right. It's I'm actually saying it's
- 37:41Speaker 1: not that bad. I'm like, I'm with Alex. I actually
- 37:44Speaker 1: think he should be playing. But I'm making an argument
- 37:47Speaker 1: for the Fred thing. There's not not one reason, it's
- 37:50Speaker 1: no particular thing. It's a lot of reasons. Well, if
- 37:52Speaker 1: there really are a lot of things that he's doing wrong.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Find somebody else who's not doing as many things wrong. Yeah,
- 37:59Speaker 1: no particular reason, yep. And at the same time, like
- 38:03Speaker 1: he'll let things slip and press conferences or the incident
- 38:06Speaker 1: in the golf cart with Mike Greece earlier this season. Like,
- 38:09Speaker 1: I think it's just that's Kendrick and he has a
- 38:12Speaker 1: really hard time shutting down a reporter because he's so
- 38:14Speaker 1: genuinely nice that he wants to Like, I don't know,
- 38:18Speaker 1: I just think he gets tongue tied with the media
- 38:20Speaker 1: sometimes maybe accidentally says he doesn't too honest, and it's
- 38:23Speaker 1: I don't I don't know if I really blame him
- 38:27Speaker 1: or I just I mean, it's just just adds another
- 38:30Speaker 1: layer for me of getting everybody back on the same
- 38:33Speaker 1: page this offseason and Jacoby meyers status, Kendrick Bourne's status.
- 38:38Speaker 1: We've talked a little bit about the tight end status,
- 38:40Speaker 1: you know. I mean, it's it's easy to see that
- 38:42Speaker 1: they could make a couple moves that we could all
- 38:44Speaker 1: justify right now, of letting Jacoby Myers walk, letting getting
- 38:48Speaker 1: rid of Kendrick Bourne. You know, all those things are
- 38:50Speaker 1: on the table, but it's gonna set them back with Mac.
- 38:54Speaker 1: I think, you know, like you're going to clean house
- 38:56Speaker 1: of all of his favorite guys. And even if you
- 38:58Speaker 1: bring in Bill O'Brien, it's still kind of like, I know,
- 39:01Speaker 1: or Bill O'Brien and Derek Carr. Oh god, I don't.
- 39:07Speaker 1: I don't think. By the way, and does Derek Carr
- 39:11Speaker 1: wear eyeliner? Was discussion that. No, I think he's just
- 39:15Speaker 1: really niclashes and well his bottomlash. I think he does.
- 39:20Speaker 1: I think he don't notice someone's bottom eyelash. I think
- 39:22Speaker 1: he leads to a punk rock band. Yeah, he does
- 39:25Speaker 1: remind me of the head of Green Day. After the
- 39:27Speaker 1: game kind after the Games goes to Vegas. That's why
- 39:32Speaker 1: I want to go. He is a gig residency rubber
- 39:34Speaker 1: ring guy too, right, like, yes, rubbery I know it's
- 39:40Speaker 1: such a hard Oh yeah, yeah exactly. Wait where did
- 39:46Speaker 1: DeVante Adams? I didn't look at it though, but it
- 39:48Speaker 1: sounded like Davanta Adams had some kind of social media
- 39:50Speaker 1: post he was liked, he liked he just look out,
- 39:54Speaker 1: not his burner, So you wouldn't be interested in that.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Fred hope, I hope for the show's sake, No, that
- 40:04Speaker 1: we we swing a deal I stay with Masha to
- 40:07Speaker 1: see how I would stay with mac Um. Yeah, seven
- 40:12Speaker 1: days a week and twice on Sunday over Derek Carr
- 40:15Speaker 1: right now, right now, that's crazy. I mean I kind
- 40:19Speaker 1: of agree, but I I just I think this is
- 40:22Speaker 1: a nail and Derek Carr's coffin. I wonder what I mean.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Everybody's saying they got an out in the contract. They
- 40:27Speaker 1: can right after the Lena make sure he doesn't get hurt.
- 40:29Speaker 1: That's why he's not playing. I thought it was interesting
- 40:32Speaker 1: two people drawing the comparison to twenty twenty with Stidham
- 40:34Speaker 1: and Cam Newton, and that this was a move that
- 40:36Speaker 1: Bill never would have made. Bill didn't make the move
- 40:38Speaker 1: to just let's just see what we got. Let's put Stidham.
- 40:41Speaker 1: There was no money at stake. In order to do that,
- 40:45Speaker 1: he has to be healthy. They can't cut him for
- 40:48Speaker 1: with an injury, they can't trade him. I'm just saying
- 40:51Speaker 1: for the benching for the bench. But I'm saying that
- 40:53Speaker 1: if Cam Newton played two more games and broke a
- 40:56Speaker 1: leg and then you had to give him forty one
- 40:57Speaker 1: million dollars, he'd gotten benched. What you're saying, I see
- 41:00Speaker 1: what you're saying, like, if he breaks his leg in
- 41:02Speaker 1: those last two games, you have to pay him. No
- 41:04Speaker 1: one's trading for him now and you can't cut him.
- 41:07Speaker 1: And now that contract kakes in in March. That's why
- 41:10Speaker 1: he's not playing these two games. You learned me something, Paul,
- 41:12Speaker 1: Thank you away from Yeah, he pulled an Eric, he
- 41:24Speaker 1: stormed off. I told you he probably has a couple
- 41:26Speaker 1: of gigs later. I like the green Day that that
- 41:29Speaker 1: works for me. Billy what's it Billy Joe Armstrong? Is
- 41:31Speaker 1: that his name? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, that works for me.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Freddie Okay. I've always thought that, yeah, that he's he's
- 41:37Speaker 1: got that green Day Billy Joe. Look. Yeah, and I
- 41:41Speaker 1: thought that he he also has a little undertaker vibe
- 41:44Speaker 1: to him, like oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Uh. Tom
- 41:49Speaker 1: is in Torrington, Connecticut. Maybe Hey Tom, how are you
- 41:53Speaker 1: doing good? Hey time? Yeah. I just wanted to start
- 41:56Speaker 1: off by saying that I'm twenty one years old and
- 42:00Speaker 1: all I know is winning in the Tom Brady era
- 42:02Speaker 1: for this period of time is not usual for me. Yeah.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I've been going to games at least once a year
- 42:07Speaker 1: until recently my dad got season tickets, and I've been
- 42:09Speaker 1: disappointed pretty much every time I went, even when they
- 42:12Speaker 1: squeak a win in yeah. Um So my question to
- 42:15Speaker 1: you guys, obviously you don't know the future, but what
- 42:18Speaker 1: is your best educated guest as to win the next
- 42:21Speaker 1: time the teachers will be a super Bowl contender or
- 42:23Speaker 1: win the seventh best educated guests. I mean, I don't
- 42:29Speaker 1: think it'll be next year, but could they be. Yeah,
- 42:33Speaker 1: you can make you can make a bunch of moves. Yeah,
- 42:36Speaker 1: I don't know, you realistically think they could. I think
- 42:40Speaker 1: two years from now is to me the most realistic,
- 42:46Speaker 1: like close state, Like, I don't think it can happen
- 42:49Speaker 1: next year, but two years from now, I just consider
- 42:53Speaker 1: the other teams, like I mean, I just I think
- 42:57Speaker 1: that there's still the significant ways behind Buffalo and until
- 43:00Speaker 1: they get a quarterback like you know Josh Allen's I mean,
- 43:03Speaker 1: well that's like yeah, when I said, you're not gonna
- 43:05Speaker 1: like my answer, I don't until you get it. I
- 43:07Speaker 1: don't think Buffalo is not going to win it this
- 43:10Speaker 1: year the super Bowl and after that they're gonna win. Plaude,
- 43:13Speaker 1: it's gonna be too much. I don't think you'll I
- 43:16Speaker 1: don't think you'll ever be a super Bowl contender as
- 43:18Speaker 1: long as he's the quarterback. Yeah, it's like I mean,
- 43:19Speaker 1: it's like it was when when Tom was here. But
- 43:22Speaker 1: I mean, I I will say though that look just
- 43:24Speaker 1: look at the parody in the league. I mean, the
- 43:26Speaker 1: Patriots are seven and eight and they still could get in.
- 43:28Speaker 1: So if you just had a competent offense, you know,
- 43:31Speaker 1: I think then you would at least get to the
- 43:33Speaker 1: point where, hey, maybe something will happen. Like I'm not
- 43:36Speaker 1: really there, like they make the playoffs the Minnesota I
- 43:38Speaker 1: don't have the maybe something will happen, but maybe if
- 43:40Speaker 1: they could happen for them is that they played Buffalo
- 43:44Speaker 1: in Kansas City and back to back weeks and they
- 43:45Speaker 1: both pulled call it Kyler Murray's or it's a blizzard. No,
- 43:50Speaker 1: they won't win. Allen and Mahomes tear the RACL the
- 43:55Speaker 1: three plays in like like Kyler Murray did. They're not
- 43:57Speaker 1: beating both of those teams in playoffs. No. But you know,
- 44:01Speaker 1: I remember in the eighties when the Patriots knocked off
- 44:05Speaker 1: Pittsburgh and they knocked off the Dolphins. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 44:09Speaker 1: what what was that? Just out of curiosity, when when
- 44:11Speaker 1: was it that they knocked off Pitts, I forget, but
- 44:13Speaker 1: they made a run in they beat the Jets. The Jets,
- 44:16Speaker 1: they made a run. Then they beat the Raiders, and
- 44:18Speaker 1: then they'd be right. All three teams heavy heavy, heavy
- 44:21Speaker 1: underdoo the heavy underdo. They were heavy underdogs against the
- 44:25Speaker 1: Dolphins because they had never won in the Orange Bowl. Yeah, never,
- 44:27Speaker 1: they were, But they were not heavy underdogs playing the Jets.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Were they underdogs? I don't even know. I'll come on,
- 44:33Speaker 1: come on, but they weren't heavy underdogs against the Come on.
- 44:37Speaker 1: I remember Will McDonough on back then, he was the
- 44:41Speaker 1: NBC insider. He was the first insider in the NFL.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Every week he would come and say the Patriots gonna lose,
- 44:47Speaker 1: and each week he would get more and more mad
- 44:49Speaker 1: because he was wrong, wrong, wrong. Yeah, but it's it's
- 44:51Speaker 1: also different to suggest that you know an underdog and
- 44:55Speaker 1: all underdogs are the same. Like, okay, so the eighty
- 44:58Speaker 1: five Patriots did something that no one had ever done.
- 45:01Speaker 1: They won three road playoff games at the time, no
- 45:04Speaker 1: one had ever done that. They were eleven and five, like,
- 45:09Speaker 1: they weren't like under five hundred and only in playoff
- 45:12Speaker 1: contention because the league expected playoffs like there's a difference.
- 45:15Speaker 1: But in two years the pages could be eleven and
- 45:17Speaker 1: five and not quite you know, well, yes, one of
- 45:20Speaker 1: the great teams, but they could have. We're talking about
- 45:22Speaker 1: this year and I said two years from now they
- 45:24Speaker 1: could do. Because you said the other teams are gonna winplode. Yeah,
- 45:26Speaker 1: you don't think you're you're going to be good enough.
- 45:28Speaker 1: You think the other team's gonna come. Just talking about Buffalo,
- 45:31Speaker 1: I don't think Kansas City's gonna unplode. I don't think
- 45:34Speaker 1: the Bengals are gonna unplode. You know, So why do
- 45:37Speaker 1: you think Buffalo will because of red Ass and because
- 45:40Speaker 1: of just pressure? There? What? What is that? What is
- 45:45Speaker 1: red As? You don't know? M McDermott, I don't know
- 45:50Speaker 1: what are you talking about? Can you trans talking about
- 45:53Speaker 1: the coach? Of the coach? Because of the coach, he's
- 45:56Speaker 1: not any good. No, it's too much pressure. Took over
- 45:58Speaker 1: a more abund franchise, had twenty game in twenty years.
- 46:01Speaker 1: It's gonna be too much pressure problem. They're trying to
- 46:03Speaker 1: build a stadium. It's gonna be too much and it's
- 46:05Speaker 1: it's gonna it's all gonna come crashing. Is Josh Allen
- 46:08Speaker 1: the quarterback in this scenario, or did he or did
- 46:10Speaker 1: he like get hurt? Because I think that's concern. That
- 46:13Speaker 1: is the way Josh Allen plays. He's a threat to
- 46:15Speaker 1: get hurt on any given Sunday. I think that's a
- 46:18Speaker 1: legit concern. I don't worry about the structure of the
- 46:21Speaker 1: team imploding. I will say one thing. I don't worry
- 46:23Speaker 1: about it, but it's gonna happen. I don't know what
- 46:25Speaker 1: the personnel will look like next year. On offense, we've
- 46:27Speaker 1: flirted with what the turnover is going to be. But
- 46:29Speaker 1: I think they're better this year than than they are then.
- 46:31Speaker 1: They've shown with the talent that they have, so I
- 46:33Speaker 1: do think that they could make a pretty good leap
- 46:35Speaker 1: next year if they get the offense in order, if
- 46:37Speaker 1: they solidify the tackle position, and you know, maybe you
- 46:40Speaker 1: got some speed arts, you could get better this year
- 46:41Speaker 1: than they were last year. That's a good question. No, Well,
- 46:45Speaker 1: they haven't played as well, but they are as good
- 46:48Speaker 1: like as talented? Are they? Or are they just I
- 46:50Speaker 1: don't think everything. I don't think that everything they should
- 46:53Speaker 1: be their worse. Do you think it's about the same? Uh?
- 46:55Speaker 1: Not too far off? I mean I think that if
- 46:57Speaker 1: they if they played, if they eliminated stupid stakes to
- 47:00Speaker 1: be about the same. Yeah, I think it's about the same.
- 47:03Speaker 1: I think they're probably not quite as talented, but I
- 47:05Speaker 1: like this a lot better because they have so many
- 47:08Speaker 1: more young guys that are playing active roles in what
- 47:11Speaker 1: they're doing. I don't think they're all going to pan
- 47:13Speaker 1: out all the you know, but there are a lot
- 47:15Speaker 1: of young guys that are that have been big parts
- 47:17Speaker 1: of what they've done. And I think if you're really
- 47:20Speaker 1: going to be optimistic about the future, you're looking at
- 47:23Speaker 1: the Jones boys in the secondary. You're looking at Barmore,
- 47:26Speaker 1: You're looking at Dugger, You're looking at Ouchy, and you're saying,
- 47:32Speaker 1: maybe I've had three decent drafts now in a row,
- 47:38Speaker 1: and I can go somewhere as opposed to Kyle van
- 47:41Speaker 1: Noy and Dante Hytower plugging gaps for another year, maybe,
- 47:45Speaker 1: you know, but there how much longer are they going
- 47:47Speaker 1: to be around? You know? I think that's the big
- 47:49Speaker 1: difference between this year and last year, and the difference
- 47:52Speaker 1: in the record is just the caliber of opponents you've played.
- 47:55Speaker 1: In my opinion, Yeah, I was actually I took your
- 47:58Speaker 1: question to specifically. Yeah, no offense, and I agree with
- 48:02Speaker 1: the way you guys answered the question, but I like
- 48:04Speaker 1: what you're saying though, and when you bring the defense
- 48:06Speaker 1: into it, the young guys and you know, specifically Marcus Jones,
- 48:09Speaker 1: I think is is a big piece of it. I'm
- 48:11Speaker 1: if they win this week and lose next week, which
- 48:13Speaker 1: I think a lot of people kind of expect, and
- 48:15Speaker 1: they finished eight and nine and they don't make the playoffs,
- 48:17Speaker 1: I would consider this much better than ten and seven
- 48:20Speaker 1: making the playoffs last year because of the people that
- 48:23Speaker 1: were involved in getting Yeah, and Judean has really like
- 48:26Speaker 1: last year we saw him falloff. This year he seems
- 48:28Speaker 1: to be sustaining it and elevating everyone else in that unit. Yeah,
- 48:32Speaker 1: let's go, Hope. I think this this this reason for optimism.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Let's go to Deshaun and Pittsburgh. Kay DeShawn. Hey, Hey,
- 48:45Speaker 1: I don't want to thot I can be much to
- 48:46Speaker 1: tie into it. What the past fellers just there when
- 48:50Speaker 1: they were talking about like the page was having a chance,
- 48:52Speaker 1: like I said, um, and I said before like if um,
- 48:55Speaker 1: if they could thought up being like the gym and
- 48:58Speaker 1: making the decisions or whatever, if we get talent you know,
- 49:02Speaker 1: somehow like some actually byway talent. I think we can
- 49:05Speaker 1: be very well in contenson for a Super Bowl because
- 49:09Speaker 1: even with Matt, I believe, even with Matt Jones or
- 49:11Speaker 1: somebody like Mac Jones, I believe that we can still
- 49:14Speaker 1: battle against most teams in the NFL. I really don't
- 49:17Speaker 1: think a lot of those teams are that good. Per
- 49:19Speaker 1: se I just didn't get buyed up because they was
- 49:21Speaker 1: pretty talented team. And when Bill's smart and coaching to
- 49:25Speaker 1: go along with some talent on that team, I think
- 49:27Speaker 1: we'll be we can beat eby Okay, So that's the
- 49:32Speaker 1: way I look at it. Get some more talent, Yep, yep, absolutely,
- 49:36Speaker 1: thanks to Sean. I agree if there were a lot
- 49:38Speaker 1: more talented, they could probably compete with the team started talented. Yep.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Uh Aldred's in North Carolina, Hale, I wouldn't have a
- 49:46Speaker 1: zero in the wind column. Tyler all right, Hey, question, um,
- 49:55Speaker 1: did y'all's kitched it? Bill O'Brien press comfort, Hey did? Yeah?
- 49:59Speaker 1: About did he say? I think I could hear all
- 50:02Speaker 1: of it, but I think New England He did not deny.
- 50:08Speaker 1: He said he hasn't had any contact with anybody in
- 50:10Speaker 1: New England since April. But he did not deny any rumors.
- 50:14Speaker 1: He didn't say he'd be back at Alabama. He didn't
- 50:16Speaker 1: say anything really, so he could have been he didn't
- 50:19Speaker 1: have any contact while he was in Foxborough. No, I
- 50:23Speaker 1: don't believe. I believe, I actually believe what he said. Yeah,
- 50:25Speaker 1: no particular reason, No, I don't. I don't think that
- 50:28Speaker 1: he's had any because I don't. Fred. You said this
- 50:31Speaker 1: on Tuesday, Fred, and I agree with you one hundred percent.
- 50:35Speaker 1: I don't think Bill O'Brien's the kind of guy that
- 50:37Speaker 1: wants to float his name out there for a job
- 50:39Speaker 1: that's that's not open, right, He's not the kind of
- 50:41Speaker 1: guy like you know, I've taken my name out of
- 50:44Speaker 1: the running for uh you know we've heard that before. Yeah, right, Yeah,
- 50:51Speaker 1: I agree, And I think I think both he and
- 50:56Speaker 1: Bill Belichick have you know, honored the fact that O'Brien's
- 51:00Speaker 1: got a job to do and you know, he's working
- 51:03Speaker 1: for Alabama and that's where his focus should be. And
- 51:05Speaker 1: Bill likes Saban and he didn't want to, you know,
- 51:07Speaker 1: and I think there was a lot to that, you know,
- 51:10Speaker 1: the respect for in you know, the etiquette. Okay, I
- 51:16Speaker 1: understand it. Okay, but the super Bowl top three years
- 51:21Speaker 1: and they'd be after Bill's gone, three years after Bill
- 51:25Speaker 1: is gone. No, he said it will be after Bill
- 51:29Speaker 1: get talent and build a Biddle squad, right, like like
- 51:33Speaker 1: everybody has normally do, right, So what if? So yeah,
- 51:35Speaker 1: so what if Bill stays for another three years? So
- 51:38Speaker 1: we're talking about another rebuild? Are you saying three years
- 51:42Speaker 1: from when Bill leaves? Is that what it is? Three years?
- 51:45Speaker 1: Whoopield when? Yeah, we'll be about the same when Bill
- 51:48Speaker 1: leaves two years after, they'd be three years total. That's
- 51:51Speaker 1: what I'm looking Bill's leaving after next year. Yeah, yeah, No,
- 51:55Speaker 1: I know y'all said he got talent with the Jones
- 51:57Speaker 1: Boys and everything. I like this be too, But like
- 51:59Speaker 1: I said, it's hike wise too, and we saw that
- 52:03Speaker 1: last weekend. I just said, butts whatever, But then Mac Jones.
- 52:10Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm like anybody else. Ye Chances go
- 52:14Speaker 1: with him, chances can't go with him. Yea. You know,
- 52:16Speaker 1: I just don't know what to you. I know what
- 52:18Speaker 1: last year? You know, y'remn good last year. But like
- 52:21Speaker 1: I said, you know, fish, yeah, you know, I would
- 52:26Speaker 1: feel a lot better if Bill Belichick would come out
- 52:28Speaker 1: and say, damn it, Mac Jones is our quarterback, because
- 52:31Speaker 1: then I know that they're gonna do what they need
- 52:34Speaker 1: to do to make him. But I don't know what
- 52:35Speaker 1: a chance to do that yesterday? Yeah, not necessarily is
- 52:38Speaker 1: our quarterback, but to defend his quarterback, right, that would
- 52:41Speaker 1: make me past again. It would make yeah, yeah, you
- 52:46Speaker 1: can ask them. Yeah, like forget about how it would
- 52:48Speaker 1: make Mac feel obviously, but it would make me feel
- 52:52Speaker 1: better if he said that, because then I know, Okay,
- 52:53Speaker 1: they're invested, They're gonna do what it takes to make
- 52:56Speaker 1: this guy successful. What do you think Bill likes Mac?
- 52:59Speaker 1: I have no idea. I don't I didn't ask you.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Do you know I asked you if you thought. I
- 53:03Speaker 1: don't know. Why are we here? I think he likes him,
- 53:06Speaker 1: but he's frustrated. It's frustrated, but maybe he conformed. Yeah,
- 53:13Speaker 1: I don't know. I like, like you hear all these
- 53:16Speaker 1: stories that like you hear all these stories, and again
- 53:18Speaker 1: they're just stories. Coaches are at each other, Players are
- 53:22Speaker 1: at coaches. Coaches are at players, coaches are against coaches.
- 53:25Speaker 1: We've heard stories of coaches being at each other's throat. Yeah,
- 53:28Speaker 1: I heard it. This morning on the radio. You know, like,
- 53:31Speaker 1: I don't know where this stuff is coming. I haven't
- 53:33Speaker 1: seen any But if it's true, where does Bill said that?
- 53:36Speaker 1: Where does Bill fall on this? I'm really here? I
- 53:38Speaker 1: mean I haven't heard anything since the people are trying
- 53:42Speaker 1: to drum up Judge first Patricia for like OC duties
- 53:46Speaker 1: in the summer, but that I haven't heard any other.
- 53:48Speaker 1: I haven't coach on coach client. It wouldn't surprise me.
- 53:52Speaker 1: On most teams where things aren't working out, you get that,
- 53:56Speaker 1: you get that. Oh yeah, everybody turns on each other
- 53:58Speaker 1: when it's going bad. I have just hadn't hear any
- 54:00Speaker 1: of that. Now, Yeah, I have some interesting thing. Yeah,
- 54:04Speaker 1: I'm sorry too, Joe. The last thing. I hope they
- 54:06Speaker 1: do keep boring and Myers and Hunter because to me,
- 54:11Speaker 1: it is the nucleus of your offense. You know, if
- 54:13Speaker 1: you did like you did back and when we had
- 54:15Speaker 1: a defe with Karla Jones and you got rid of
- 54:18Speaker 1: the other linebacker and you got ridk you know, you
- 54:21Speaker 1: get rid of Malcolm Butler. You cute the core, you know,
- 54:25Speaker 1: and I think do you like the core? That's the problem.
- 54:28Speaker 1: That's the thing. If you like the core, keep them,
- 54:30Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, it's interesting. I have some thanks, some
- 54:33Speaker 1: numbers for mac that, you know, because I hear a
- 54:36Speaker 1: lot of the they ruined them, they ruined them, they
- 54:38Speaker 1: ruined them. And I want to go back now, the
- 54:42Speaker 1: last five games of last year, which is the bye
- 54:47Speaker 1: week on a right, So that's seventeen games now that
- 54:50Speaker 1: he started, the last seventeen games that he started. So
- 54:54Speaker 1: the last five games last year, he can he threw
- 54:58Speaker 1: for five games, eleven hundred and sixty four yards, eight
- 55:01Speaker 1: touchdowns and seven picks. Now this year he's throwing for
- 55:06Speaker 1: twenty five hundred and fifty yards and twelve starts, with
- 55:08Speaker 1: nine touchdowns and eight picks. So that's seventeen games. That's
- 55:13Speaker 1: a season. That's a full season. He's thrown for thirty
- 55:16Speaker 1: seven hundred and fourteen yards, seventeen touchdowns, fourteen picks, sixty
- 55:20Speaker 1: four percent, and he's six and eleven. And by the way,
- 55:24Speaker 1: I didn't cherry pick the games. In other words, the
- 55:27Speaker 1: Jacksonville game that's in there. Yeah, I said the last
- 55:30Speaker 1: five games last year, I didn't take out the good game.
- 55:34Speaker 1: I didn't take out the good games this year, like Minnesota,
- 55:38Speaker 1: I counted all of the last seventeen games, six and
- 55:41Speaker 1: eleven in the last seventeen games that he started. I
- 55:45Speaker 1: think this started last year. I think they figured him
- 55:48Speaker 1: out last year. This isn't all about Matt Patricia. It's
- 55:52Speaker 1: a lot about Matt Patricia. It's a lot about the
- 55:55Speaker 1: structure of what they did and the fact that the
- 55:58Speaker 1: players didn't believe in it from the start. That's a
- 56:01Speaker 1: big chunk of this. Not denying it, but I don't
- 56:04Speaker 1: think he's played as well as people give him credit for.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Robert writes in Fred, thank you for playing the PFW
- 56:10Speaker 1: theme song yesterday? Is that now have been stuck in
- 56:12Speaker 1: my head for twenty four hours. As for the coaching staff,
- 56:16Speaker 1: I have to thank Evan for bringing up the one
- 56:18Speaker 1: word that's been drummed into our heads during the Dynasty years, accountability.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Where is it? We've heard over and over about how
- 56:25Speaker 1: everyone from Brady to the third string guard that only
- 56:28Speaker 1: played on field goal units was held accountable during film sessions.
- 56:32Speaker 1: If the coaches, including Bill, aren't holding the players accountable
- 56:35Speaker 1: for their poor performances, then it's up to Robert Kraft
- 56:38Speaker 1: a whole bill responsible for not holding the coaches accountable.
- 56:41Speaker 1: It may be a delicate dance by Craft, but it's
- 56:44Speaker 1: his money and his name on the paychecks for everyone.
- 56:47Speaker 1: PS include me in the opinion that it's better to
- 56:50Speaker 1: make the playoffs than not. Ask any Bills fan how
- 56:52Speaker 1: they felt about the postseason absences during the Patriots dynasty.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Not a good time. Yeah, I mean, banking the playoffs
- 57:00Speaker 1: would almost be more about Actually, I mean, this isn't
- 57:03Speaker 1: tooa because you're not really going to get the check. Hey,
- 57:06Speaker 1: we finally beat twa off the list. But you know,
- 57:08Speaker 1: if they were to win, I said yesterday, they were
- 57:11Speaker 1: to beat Miami at home and then go into Buffalo
- 57:13Speaker 1: and win, you know, in a in a straight up game.
- 57:15Speaker 1: I mean, I think those would be more to take
- 57:17Speaker 1: away than whatever ends up happening in the playoff game
- 57:19Speaker 1: when you feel like you're probably gonna I'm with you, guys.
- 57:21Speaker 1: I'm not a big fan of you know, well, you know,
- 57:24Speaker 1: get the higher draft pick. I understand that if you
- 57:26Speaker 1: look at it after the fact, Yeah, you know, we
- 57:29Speaker 1: could have slid up five or six spots in the
- 57:31Speaker 1: draft that would have helped us. I get it. I
- 57:33Speaker 1: mean it's on paper, it's right there for you to see.
- 57:35Speaker 1: But I do think that you try if you have
- 57:37Speaker 1: the chance to make the playoffs. You put everything into
- 57:40Speaker 1: that endeavor. You try to make the playoffs. Yeah, I
- 57:43Speaker 1: think it really see the other side, I think, well,
- 57:45Speaker 1: it's harder for me. It's just where that kind of
- 57:47Speaker 1: like crossing over point where we're you know, starting to
- 57:49Speaker 1: maybe some of the teams that are gonna be out
- 57:50Speaker 1: of it are starting to look at the drafts. You're
- 57:51Speaker 1: starting to see like some mock drafts, and so you see,
- 57:54Speaker 1: I think I said yesterday there are eight or nine
- 57:56Speaker 1: teams that are at seven and eight, like the Patriots,
- 57:58Speaker 1: all right now, So you know that that's gonna be
- 58:00Speaker 1: a lot of movement and you least the two games
- 58:03Speaker 1: and you can get in the top ten. I get it.
- 58:05Speaker 1: I just don't. I don't know. It's tempting. It's tempting.
- 58:07Speaker 1: You look at the talent and you know, you see
- 58:09Speaker 1: you know, offensive tackles and top wide receivers, and right
- 58:12Speaker 1: now Ki states that the tackle from my Islah state.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Everybody says it's going to be a first the USC kid. Yeah,
- 58:18Speaker 1: the two you know, man, I understand it, I get it.
- 58:20Speaker 1: I just don't. I know, And at the end of
- 58:22Speaker 1: the day, I want to I just like this. This
- 58:25Speaker 1: is just I gotta get this off my chest too,
- 58:27Speaker 1: Like the cold strange pick, It's just it's really hurting
- 58:30Speaker 1: me right now, like I you know, and at the
- 58:33Speaker 1: time you kind of tried to make peace with it,
- 58:35Speaker 1: but it's just it didn't work out. He's not playing
- 58:38Speaker 1: well at all and they're kind of stuck with him,
- 58:40Speaker 1: and you just need first round talent on this team
- 58:42Speaker 1: so bad. And to burn that first round pick on
- 58:45Speaker 1: a guy who probably isn't really a first round pick,
- 58:48Speaker 1: it's just a it's a real tough look right now. Yeah,
- 58:50Speaker 1: So I'm gonna get ready to go real quick. Fred.
- 58:52Speaker 1: So I know you like to hear how everybody did
- 58:55Speaker 1: last week? Yeah, sure. So the picks The picks last
- 58:58Speaker 1: week My and Paul ten and six, Fred nine and
- 59:04Speaker 1: seven with a spread no surprise Paul nine and seven,
- 59:11Speaker 1: Fred seven and nine, followed by Mike Week six and ten.
- 59:16Speaker 1: So season standings, Mike, this is like five weeks in
- 59:19Speaker 1: a row. Just I'm one fifty two, eighty six and two.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Mike one fifty one, eighty seven and two, followed by
- 59:25Speaker 1: Fred at one forty three, ninety five and two with
- 59:28Speaker 1: the spread Paul one thirty eight ninety eight and four. Alex,
- 59:32Speaker 1: that's dominance. Yeah, that's a lot of money. She looks impressed.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Mike one eighteen one, eighteen and four. Thoroughly adequate in
- 59:41Speaker 1: your adequosity, Fred one O eight one, twenty eight and four.
- 59:47Speaker 1: So those are the numbers, and um, you guys can
- 59:51Speaker 1: ye in the past half hour. You guys can be
- 59:53Speaker 1: fast fast whips of Mike. I'm gonna leave this with you, okay,
- 59:57Speaker 1: I'll do which that's a big comple I appreciate it.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I don't turn over the responsibility to just anybody. So
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: now this week we can get all the pulse picks wrong. So, yeah,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: I see how you do it. All right, I got
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: you and we got the lines. Okay, you really could
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: screw with me by changing my picks, because I'd have
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: no idea right that you changed him. I would say,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: I thought you wouldn't notice that your old picks are
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: scribbled out. I'm gonna do I'm gonna do it in pencil.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: We don't give that back. You gotta play the long game,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: and you gotta reprint it. I'll be sure to leave
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: it on your desk. I'll lock it in your lockbox.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Practice your handwriting touch it. No, I couldn't read your writing,
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: so we just decided to type it out. You're giving
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: us like the playbuff. Are we waiting for food meat? No,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: we are not waiting for Oh you didn't want to
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Oh that's right, you had to leave. I gotta, I got,
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I got. So. Since we're breaking, I just want to

- 1:10:57Speaker 1: we go to Ford Field to play the Lions. Yeah,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: and they do that pregame. Yeah, there's that kid who
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: was like in his early thirties maybe at most at most,
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: and he's like, hey, everybody, welcome to Ford we're gonna
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: be talking about it to try lines that we're gonna
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: be doing talking about the Ford Drive. Yeah, why do
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: they do that? Like, why did that become a thing?
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: It can't's always been that way. Hi, everybody's Beth Mullins
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: into but its Angel's charger. But it let's go to
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: and it's more than it looks a little cold today.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: That was like a mix not your voice and Harry Carry.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I wouldn't pay you one hundred dollars to do the
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: rest of the show. Just like that. I love that's
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: pretty said. That's another great moment from all Right. We're
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: back here and Picks. It's unfiltered eight five five pass
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: five hundred Evans here and guess what has been done? Done?
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: All right, Evan, the floor is yours. I love that
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: we can see ourselves on video today dancing a little bit,
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: being back from practice. I like that. I don't like
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: what I'm about to tell you about practice. So this
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: is turning into the Buffalo playoff game all over again
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: for the Patriots secondary. Adrian Phillips now missing from practice
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: as well. No so, no Adrian Phillips, No Damien Harris.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: He was there yesterday, not there today. And then all
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: the same absences Marcus Jones, Jalen Mills, Jack Jones, DeVante Parker,
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Yanni could just John Smith. So at this point in time,
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: just to set the stage here a little bit, for Sunday,
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: the Patriots will have Jonathan Jones, Miles Bryant, and Sean
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: Wade starting at corner, and they will have I guess,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: Dugger mccordy and Jabriel Peppers at safety. Now, this is
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: why you have a guy like Gabriel right, is that
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: you can mix and match there a little bit at safety.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: But like I said, this is starting to turn into
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: the Buffalo playoff game all over again, where they just
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: have DB's dropping like flies left and right. And this
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: is not the matchup that you want to be shorthanded
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: at corner. This is not the team. No. Even week
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: one when the secondary was healthy, it was just like,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: oh yeah, not good boy. At least in week one
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: you had you know, a guy like Marcus Jones. He
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: wasn't even playing a lot, was still right, Jack Jones
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: played a lot in that game. Yeah, so you had
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Jalen Mills healthy. Yeah, yeah, It just when I was
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: doing my game preview for this game. There is a blueprint. Obviously,
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: over the last month, Miami's lost four straight games, too,
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: has played poorly. They've dropped the twentieth and EPA on
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: offense in the last month, so that they're not they
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: have not been a good offense. But the number one
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: thing that teams have been doing, it really started with
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: the Chargers is playing more man coverage against them and
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: really challenging these receivers by getting into Hill and Waddle's
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: face and not allowing them to build up that speed
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: against off coverage, and that was the bootprint. That's the
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: way that you go about doing it. Now, I just
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: don't know how you play that way with Miles, Brian
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: and Sean Wade out there. I think it's tough too
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: with who you know, who's going to play on the
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: back end. I mean, I think Phillips has been playing
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: there a little bit more than than Dugger Peppers ever did.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: Seems like they're more linebacker kind of types, like, yeah,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: you know some deep guys that need deep help. You
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: only only have d Mac back there. That's why I think.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: I mean, it's gonna be a lot of zone and
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: I just think that the time of possession is going
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: to be, you know, heavily in favor of Miami, and
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: that means every possession you have on offense, you've got
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: to do something. You know, you've got to put some
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: plays together. You've got to keep that offense, the Miami
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: offense on the bench. And I don't know if the
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Patriots offense can do that. You know, yeah, they haven't
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: been able. It's just so tough against Teddy because Teddy
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: wants to check it down right, He's not too ah,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: He's not an aggressive downfield thrower like too is, so
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: he wants he wants the short stuff. And if you
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: just sit back in soft zone, right, he's perfectly fine
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: playing like that. It's when you actually make him push
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: the football down the field that he comes up and
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: has some limitations. So if he's the just you know,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: theyre got the McDaniel motion stuff, play action stuff, and
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: then he's just thinking and dunking all the way down
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: the field. They can do that all day. How would
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: you would you if you were you know, Steve Belichick
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: Drawd and you know whoever on defense, would you just
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: dial up like and take chances with pressure early just
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: you know, not you know, I'm not talking about selling
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: out on blitzing, but just dial things up to just
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: get in bridge Ward's face. Yeah. Yeah, I would love
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: to see them do that. They did not do that
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: last week against Burrow, and I think what we've seen
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: against these elite quarterbacks is they have played a lot
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: of soft zone against Burrow again, Josh Allen, against the
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Vikings a little bit. And I think that in a
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: lot of ways, this is defense in twenty twenty two,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: where when you play these top five elite offenses like
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: the Bengals, like the Bills, you're for ninety percent of
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: the game surviving. You're just trying to tread water against
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: them and not give up it all up in one play,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: and then you start to mix in some of your
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: scheme stuff like the zero blitz they called against Cincinnati
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: that resulted in the pick six, And that's when you
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: pick your spots with it. Right. The days of just
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: lining up across from a team in man coverage for
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: four quarters and challenging them every single down, that's just over.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: You just can't do that as much anymore. So that's
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: why everybody is playing the same kind of ben don't
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: break defense. It's not just the Patriots, this is a
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: league wide. That's why I want to But would you
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: take more chances on? Yeah? I would. I was screaming
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: for it against Cincinnati because they kept on backing off,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: and then I can understand against Burrow, But with Bridgewater,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: I think you might be able to get away with it. Yeah,
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: I think early on, if you can try to get
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: him out of rhythm, it's not a bad idea. I
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: just was really hoping that Marcus Jones is going to
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: be ready to go for this game because with him
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: and John Jones against Waddle and Hill, I thought the
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: defense could really control the game for the Patriots. I
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: thought they had the matchups on defense to be able
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: to do that. And when you play the soft zone stuff,
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: you just your pass rush can't get home in time
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: because they're just getting the ball out quickly because there's
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: all this space underneath the defense, and it's just it
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: just throws everything off. And I'm with Fred, and you know,
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: I think a first quarter first drive, I would love
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: to see them just challenge them anyways. You know, I
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: know you might get burned, but that's sort of been
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: the blueprint against Miami anyways, is that, Okay, you give
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: up an eighty four yard touchdown to Jail and Waddle,
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: you give up a bomb to Tyreek Hill, but the
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: rest of the game you do a pretty good job
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: on them, and you live with the fact that you're
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: gonna give up two or three big plays. Yeah, all right,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: let's get back to the phones. Todd is in Canada.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: What's up, Todd? Hey, guys. Lot of this year we've
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: said I wish Bill would do this, and I wish
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Bill would do that, And then when I've also heard
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: I wish they would do this on offense, and I
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: wish they would do this on defense. And I got
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: into a little bit of argument with Evan last time,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: two times ago about you know, just how good our
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: defense was and our defensive play calling. I think we
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: got exposed in the Bengals. I think if the Bengals
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: hadn't turned into the Bungles in the second half, it
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: would have been like a forty something to three year out.
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: And I'm just not sure, you know where if this
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: philosophy can continue, the way the team works from the
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: top all the way down, I think there's just a
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: lot of problems. I think the coaching doesn't seem to
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: be functional on either side of the ball. The GM
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: doesn't seem to be functional. Like you guys are really
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: regretting cold strange, pick me too, right, I just this
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: something is wrong right now. We haven't had like a
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: solid core. We haven't had a team that we can say, Okay,
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: we got this, we can build on this, yeah for
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: five six years now. Yeah, So what do you think?
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: What would what do you think that there needs to
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: be a change in coaching slash front office. I think
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: philosophy needs to change and I don't know if Bill
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: can keep up with the current game. I don't think
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: Bill's mentality allows him to go away from people like Bentley,
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: even though he played a great game. Bentley's just he's
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: a He's a plotter. He's a big, big plotter. I'm
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: going to plug the whole. I'm going to you know,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Bill's flots I'm going to stop the run and then
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: take their two or three biggest players off the game
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: if I cannon shut them down, and then see what
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: they can do. Is this There seems to be an
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: out of touch with the approach to football right now,
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: and so Todd, I'm gonna push back on you again.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna do it on defense, all right, don't I
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: tried not to, Okay, but to name name. I know
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: you watched the league. So name me a defense in
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: the NFL nowadays that plays the way that you want
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: them to play, that's aggressive all the time, that gets
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: up in everybody's face, that's that really tries to dictate
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: the terms of the game. On defense, Well, I look
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: at our team and I just thought about that. Dallas
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: will let them take what they we can give, you know,
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: We'll let them get their stuff to move their ball
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: down there. We're going to try to not break and
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: welcome to defense. In twenty twenty two, every single every
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: single defense in the league is doing the same thing.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: They're playing too high shell, they're playing less man coverage,
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: they're playing softs on. The Patriots and the Dolphins are
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: two the most man coverage heavy teams in the league
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: at around forty percent. That means sixty percent of the
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: time they're playing zone right. Our quarterback pressures and sticks
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: that we're supposed to be getting, well, they are getting
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: gave good decent teams that they're not. Like, come on,
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: last game, it was just the Pingles being the Bengals
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: more than anything. Well that one previous games as well.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: You know, Judon seems to take times out every once
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: in a while or get really stupid and take a
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: stupid belty. He's done that several times, and I just
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: what happened. It's todd You're you're you're forgetting that, you're
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: just leaving out Like Bentley had a pass defense in
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: the end zone. So that doesn't really support what you're saying, Matthew, Judon,
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: it forced a fumble at a critical time, you know,
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: like you're making plays. I can be with you on
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: the offensive side of the ball. I just I'm I'm
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: with Evan, And I think this is the point that
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: is coming out now, is that, like b you have
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: to be realistic about how you can play defense in
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: the NFL right now and what you have to do.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: Like I don't think that the Patriots are the eighty
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: five Bears. I don't think the eighty five Bears exist
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: any Like, you know, you have a couple of defenses
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: that are to imagine how imagine how a competent offense
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: would compend that exactly. And so that's the thing, like
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: put put an offense that you have some belief in
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: that you say, cheez, if we do give up a drive,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: we know that our offense is going to put up
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: at least fourteen to twenty one points in this game.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: Like you know, I just I think it's hard to
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: look at this defense in a bubble and just you know,
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: without saying like they haven't really gotten any help this year.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: A lot of times when they played really well or
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: given the opportunity to the offense to win the game,
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: they can't do it, you know. And I think that
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: they've continue to fight. I don't think they're perfect. I
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: think that there's still a couple of real pieces away
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: that they definitely need to, you know, really be really
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: be good. But give them a competent offense, and I
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: think that this defense is fine. And you know, I mean,
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: I understand that everything gets kind of skewed because you
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: look at like Josh Allen and they didn't bunt last year,
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: and you know, all those things kind of kind of
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: build up. But I just be realistic right now. But
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: what defense is in the NFL right now? I just
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: I think that's what we've come to this year. It's
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: it's it's hard to play perfect, it's frustrating to watch,
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: it stinks, But every single team in the league is
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: doing the same thing. And this is just it's turned
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: into similar to what it is in the college game now,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: where it's survival. On defense, it's survival and I hate it.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Everybody hates it. And every single time I watch film
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: on a defense, it's the same thing. They play the
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: same coverages, they play the same style. This Miami defense
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: tries to come after you a little bit more than
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: the average defense, and they're getting burned. They're twenty seventh
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: in the league and DVO on defense against the past,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: because they're blitzing and they're playing man coverage and they're
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: trying to do what the Patriots might have done back
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: in like twenty eighteen or when they really had great secondaries.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: Can't do it anymore. See that's and that's just like
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: the thing I've and I was thinking a lot about
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: this this morning. I kind of brought it up. I mean,
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: you know, you mentioned TV away, So the Patriots defense
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: is third in the league in dv away, third against
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: the past, tenth against rush. You know, you want to
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: go to more conventional stats, they're uh, fifth in points,
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: eighth in yards, third in turnovers. Uh you know, it
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: gets a little bit dicey with with some of the
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: other you know, passing stats. I would say the third
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: down one I highlighted earlier where they're twenty first in
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: the league, is you know a significant one fifteenth in
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: red zone. But I mean that all those stats aren't
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: like completely wrong, like you know, they this is how
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: they stack up. And as much as you can say, well,
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: but everything good that happens to the Patriots defense is
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: on the other team for screwing up, and they never
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: give them any credit always you know, and there's you
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: know and there's I mean, look, there is some truth
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: to some of that. I mean Sam Alan Gerd mentioned him.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: But they're still a pretty good defense, and all things considered,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: with the injuries that they've had in the secondary, I
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: think you have something to build off of there. I
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: feel better. I don't think we're gonna have the same
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: kind of thing this year or we feel more concerned
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: about the defense. We'll see how the coaching staff departures
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: potentially affect that, but I think that they have a
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: pretty good base there. I'd love to see them with
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: a competent, complementary offense to see how good they adam
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: in Dublin. Right since so, we could argue that the Vikings,
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Raiders and Bengals games should have been wins and we
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: would be sitting at ten and five, But what would
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: that prove. The offense has been doomed since Bill's decision
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: not to fill a specialist role with a specialist candidate
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: for the OC position. Bill is still an excellent coach
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: in my eyes, but a succession planning to deal with
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: the brain drain and more specifically Josh, has compromised a
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: season imagine if the twenty eleven, fourteen, and sixteen teams
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: had this defense. It's hard to get the balance of
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: a team to swing your way every year, but this
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: offense is playing below the sum of its parts, and
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: Mac would become a lost cause. Bill took an unnecessary risk.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: This is not fourth and two. It's it's the risk
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: if a season, and it's the risk of a season
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: in a starting quarterback. I wouldn't have any other coach,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: but Bill the CEO needs to make better choices. All right, Yeah,
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: don't disagree with any of that. I mean, we get
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: back to the you know, the whole Robert Kraft thing
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: and what's the discussion look like in the offseason, And
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: a lot of it is, you know, we don't know
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: what Bill's contract looks like, but if it, but if
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: in it it says that you know, you can't coach
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: for another team if you quit, then Kraft has all
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: the leverage. Then he can go in and ask Bill
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: what are you gonna do? And if he doesn't like
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: what he hears, then he can make demands knowing either
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: Bill does what I have what I want, or he's gone,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: you know, or or I'm gonna tell him to do it,
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: you know, and then if he quits, well, okay, but
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: you can't coach anywhere else. But if he can quit
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: and go to another team, then Craft doesn't have a
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: lot of leverage, you know. So then that's the balance
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: there is, how much can Robert put his foot down
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: and force him to do something verse, you know, Bill
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: saying screw you, I'm gonna go coach somewhere else. Yeah,
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: And I think they will know the big pieces pretty quick.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: I mean, you know, as far as Evan and I
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: have talked about wanting the coaching staff to get squared away,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: that's something that can get squared away before the Super
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Bowl even happens. You can start to make moves already. Well,
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: you have to, you know. I guess listening to Albert
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: Breer today, he was on with one of the shows
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: and he was saying, and you know, he knows there
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: this type of work is being done now. If it
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: hasn't already been completed, there's already coaching staffs in the
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: works and people getting jobs, and you know, behind the scenes,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: you know, if you wait till after the Super Bowl,
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: you're behind the eight ball. You've got like Bill O'Brien.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: I know they've got one more game. They're playing in
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: the Sugar Bowl, I think, but the moment that's over,
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: like the word has to be out to his agent
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: already if you're going to bring him here, you know,
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: like you can't wait. He's gonna have other options. You
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: know you can't wait, and that I mean the second
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: part for me then is what does what does free
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: agency look like? What are the marching orders in free agent?
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Does he have? And I know that they don't have
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: like the you know, all the space and money to
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: work with it they had two years ago, but they
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: have a little bit um. Do they focus in house,
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: do they try to extend a Kyle Dugger or do
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: they you know, do they try to you know, take
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: care of that business first or is it a similar
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: situation as two years ago where you feel like, all right,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: you gotta go out and get the players, Go get
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: the players, you tell I believe what you need? Is
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: he going to get the same kind of latitude in
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: this free agency class based on how the last free
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: agency class worked out, which there were hits and they
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: were missing. But doesn't it make isn't it better for
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: your free agent class? Because that happens in March, right,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: We know that there's stuff that happens before, but you know,
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: you sign, you start signing guys as soon as March
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: comes around. Isn't it better to do that if you're
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: coaching staff is already set? Oh yeah, Like as a
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: free agent, I know who my coach is going to be. Like,
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: don't you want to get that set before you start
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: build your players? I want to write that stuff while
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: we still have access to hear from these guys, Like,
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: you know, while there's still you know it isn't they
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: just disappear into the offseason, you know darkness, and you know, hey,
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: we'll see you at a random press availability in April.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: You know, I'd love to just I want to hear
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: the breakdown of it. I think Evan said yesterday, like
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: I don't want to get while the season just ended yesterday,
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: we don't really know what we're gonna do. I like,
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: nobody wants to hear that right now. People want to
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: hear when the season ends. We've had a long time
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: building and knowing how it was gonna not how it
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: was gonna end, but what it's looked like this season.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: I want I as a fan. I want to hear,
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: how were we going to improve an offense that was
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: near the bottom of the league in an all important
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: categories period like that. That's it answer that question. And
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: if it's like, well, we're just gonna try. I mean everybody,
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: I think everybody is on the same page as far
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: as Patriots Nation build all this. If he comes to
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: us and says, hey, it's got to be better, this
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: is what we're gonna do on offense, We're gonna make
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: these changes. We're gonna I think everybody will be or
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: a you know, like he's gonna do something right after
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: the end of the season. I don't expect all the
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: answers to be given then, but at least we're gonna
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: get back to you. You know, we're in discussion this year.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: It wasn't good enough. Um, you know I can get
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: we can guarantee you that we agree it wasn't good enough.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: And you know we'll have we'll have some we'll have
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: some news soon. You know. That's all. That's all I
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: need to hear. You're gonna have to concrete the actions.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: Are gonna have to speak out of him on this
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: one because we're not getting that. But I'll say it
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: again I said yesterday. I understand that there's the the
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: unknown is scary, right, like the unknown of Like, Okay,
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: this could go any direction. It could go back to
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: Bill Cook convince himself that I hear this a lot
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: that Bill could convince himself that Matt Patricia's learning right
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: and he's gonna learn on the job and year two
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: just like a player, year two is going to be
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: better than year one and all that. But from everything
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: that I have pieced together about this situation, Bill knows
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: it's it's as bad as we all do, right, Like
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: he's not an idiot, Like he knows that the offense
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: has been terrible. And I just can't imagine knowing that
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: that he is aware of what's going on offensively, that
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: his answer to everybody is going to be We're just
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: going to run it back like it just that doesn't
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: add up to me. And I don't I don't think
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: we're going to get to that point. I don't think
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: they're going to just run it back. I really don't. Uh,
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: let's see a couple more calls. Let's go to Sam
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: and Maryland. What's up Sam? Sam? Hello? Yes, Hey, how's
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: it going guys, all right, first time caller, nice I
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: had to make a statement. I am from Maryland, but
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: I didn't want to get yelled at by that email
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: or I'm originally from originally from Hyannis. You said, Okay, um,
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: question for you guys. A guy that stated that he's
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: interested in coaching. I mean, it's kind of a long
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: shot because he's not in the Belichick tree. But what
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: about Dan or Lofty quarterback. I think he's I think
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: he's been a little bit too loud on Twitter's gonna
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: be mad at him. I don't know. I mean, I like,
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: I think it's I mean, I think he's good on TV.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: But I just I kind of like bristle that when
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: guys on TV are kind of like actively lobbying to
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: get back into football jobs, Like, I don't know, I
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: don't need When is that work somebody from TV coming
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: in being a good coach? Like it goes the other way,
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: you got. I think the only example that I can
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: really think of isn't even in this sport. So it's
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Steve Kerr in basketball. Yeah, Steve Kerr went from TNT
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: to GM to coach. But like if you to, you know,
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: to be a coach, in really any of these leagues.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: It's got to be in your blood, like you have to,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: like because you have to go through so much stuff
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: to get where you want to be in coaching. Although
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: nowadays you can be in TV and then become a
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: head coach for the Colts. But but you know, for
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: the most part, like to put up with the hours
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: and and all that, you have to really love coaching,
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: you know. And you wonder like if you if you
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: if you quit playing and went into TV first and
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: not coaching, do you really love coaching, you know? Or
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: or now it's like I talk about it so much,
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: I could do that, and then you realize how hard
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: it really is and it never works. I think that's
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: the biggest thing to me is like it's very easy
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: for people like Dan Orlovsky or even people like me
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: to watch the film and be like, this is what's
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: wrong right now, go try coaching that to to twenty guys,
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: getting them to execute it the way that you want
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: them to execute it, drive it up correctly, like all
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: those types of things like that. That's the difference between
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: an analyst and somebody that actually does it for a
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: little And oh, by the way, what about the analyst
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: has works probably half the hours and double the pay
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: of what a coach has to do too. You know,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: I'm like, why would anyone want to go from ESPN
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: inside the you know, NFL Live, which I mean it's
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: is a really great show. That's why I asked, you know,
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: like it's I'm sure there's an example, but for the
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: most part, if you start out in TV, it's it's
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: a lot harder to go to coaching than the other
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: way around. NBC Sports Boston for a minute, right, Yeah,
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: this isn't easy. It's hard, yeah, and inherently the ego
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: of someone that does go to TV first, I don't
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: think it's going to be suited for someone to be right, right, Yeah,
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: you have to take your ego and stuff it in
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: your pocket. I mean, not to mention like Dan Orlowski
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: can go on there and say whatever he wants, like here,
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: you're a coach. You gotta get guys to perform, it's
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: said coaching like they have to play well, like you
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: have to trance like and the proof is out there
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: and it's not just like hey, I can put together
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: a thirty second Twitter video ripping them and it doesn't matter. Right,
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: it's not gonna like like I can sit here and
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: say like, let's run more RPOs, and then I can
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: go out there and practice and be like, guys like
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: we're gonna we're gonna take this from Alabama. We're gonna
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: run this RPO and they're gonna come up to me
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: and be like, but coach, what happens if this happens,
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: And I'm just gonna be like, just run the play,
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: like right, right, right. So that's the biggest difference is
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: it's very easy to identify problems. It's very easy to
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: say what I want to do, but can you go
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: out there and actually get people to execute it? But
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: that's part of like the experience though, too, is as
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: you were a young coach, you would start to see, well,
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: this is what happens when they run this look in
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: front of what we want to talk, you know, and
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: you start to get that experience. But it takes a
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: while and you might have to put your dues in,
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: but I get that. I have to talk about what
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: Parcels used to say when he was here, and one
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: of the things he said is when coaching is teaching.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: If you're not a good teacher, you're not a good
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: you're not going to be a good coach. Yeah, you know,
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: you know so nowadays, if you can coach, you coach.
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: If you can't coach, you go to TV. And you
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: can't go to TV, you do one of those gambling sites.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: You know. That's Today's that's how it works today. Thanks Sam,
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: or do you have anything else to say? All good? Thanks?
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: All right, thanks Sam? See it hyenas uh David's and
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: Fort Myers is how's the weather down there? Dave? Oh,
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: it's great, and thank you very much for asking. But yeah,
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: I love the show guys. Just a question, Um, you know,
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: we've thought about three to four seasons of mediocrity, you
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: know from the Matrios and you know that cup, you know,
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: added along with Belichick's you know, misfires in the draft
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: and this huge fiasco with UM with Matt Patricia as
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: the you know, defensive coordinator going now to be an
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: offensive coordinator. How many more seasons do you think Craft
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: will put up with um, you know, this output from
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: the team before they say, you know, maybe try to
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: go in a different direction, maybe get like an offensive
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: minded coach. You know, I'm a I'm a huge Belichick fan,
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: but it just just hasn't been good. You know, we
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: used to be the the well coached Patriots and and
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: it just seems like the things that we once for
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: staples of our team are no longer like, you know,
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: the good coaching. You know, we could we used to
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: be able to get away with with less than you know,
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: elite talent because of our coaching, but that just is
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: no longer the case. Yeah. How much of a leash
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: do you think Belichick has with Craft? I think as
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: assuming that offseason conversation goes, well, one more season, you know,
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: and then that's to see some progress. Like I don't
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: think you have to win a super Bowl next season
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: for him to keep his job, but I think you
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: have to see that Okay, we're going in the right direction. Yeah,
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: and it's going in the right direction. I think, boys,
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: David go back to my earlier point of like just
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: get to that point where no are you are you?
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: You know, we don't have Josh Allen, we don't have
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: Patrick Moomes, but at least in an in any given
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: Sunday situation, you feel like they might be able to
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: take any That's the thing with Pete Carroll. You know,
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: he was here for three years and he started out
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: making the playoffs and they were just going in the
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: wrong direction. It was only a three year stint. But
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: you know, Robert Kraft just you know the quote he
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: failed fast. He's like, okay, this, this is not going
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: in the right direction, and he cut bait um. You know,
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: sometimes you have to do that if you know you're
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: not going in the right direction. But like you said,
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: if it's going in the right direction after this year,
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: then Bill stays, Yeah, it's just I think it's a
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: hard thing to to to put yourself in an owner's
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: shoes and all the different things that you have to
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: take into account as an owner of a franchise. It's
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: you know, yes, it's it's certainly winning, but not everybody's
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: going to win the Super Bowl every year. I knew
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: it would be hard. Post Brady, post Belichick. Everybody's just
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: been kind of waiting to, like for the Patriots to
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: stink so you can gang up on them, be like,
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: finally get back at those guys. You know, like you
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: just knew a lot of vitriol out there waiting for
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: the Patriots downslide. But you know, you want to have
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: local energy, you want to have you know, getting people
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: out to the games and that like, you know, having
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: that kind of even though they're not a Super Bowl team,
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: they you know, have a good energy about them right now,
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: and that's it's hard to see that right now. It
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: just seems like they're kind of teetering a little bit
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: on the edge of going one way or the other.
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: And I think it's it's it's a really hard thing
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: to manage as an owner. All right, Um, we got
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: a few more calls, but we'll hold them on. Hold
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: on if you want to hang up, maybe and call
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: back for Catch twenty two, which is following us immediately
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: at two o'clock and they'll be on YouTube video as well,
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: so you want to hang on for that. So if
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: you want to hang on the phone, you can do
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: that or hang up and call back at two o'clock.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: But right now, it's that time of the week. You
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: can't say Paul, I can't say week this is this
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: is his super Bowl. Every week he left, he left
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: his picks. Uh so, um, he's still winning. If people
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: didn't catch earlier in the show win now, Yeah, you're
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: only one game behind, right and the overall right, it's crazy,
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: but the week, but he's killing us in the where
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: it counts. I know, well, he picked the perfect week
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: to get away, because now if I do pass him
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: this week, he's gonna think this one straight up, giving
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: us the ways that we could cheat without him knowing.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: I think sums up every week. People can tell me
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: that's not what you pick, Fred, But anyway, Um, Okay,
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: we start with tonight, um eight fifteen on Prime. The
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: eleven and four Cowboys are at the seven and eight Titans,
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: and I don't I don't think Henry is playing. And
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: it's Josh Dobbs at quarterback for the Titans. Okayis Tennessee
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: plus twelve and a half, and I guess I get
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: to go first. Um, I don't know. I don't know
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: what Josh Dobbs is. I don't know who that is. Um,
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: So i'm gonna I'm gonna take Dallas and I'm gonna lay.
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna lay the points. Yeah that's a big spread,
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: but I'm gonna go Dallas both ways. Dallas does weirdly
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: fall into these traps against these bad teams, though, I
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: will say, but you can't stire a guy off the
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: practice squad eight days later and beat a team that's
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: good like the Dallas Cowboys. So I'm taking the Cowboys
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: and I'll take them to cover it. It seems like
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: a big spread, but you can win the game like
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: twenty to ten, are like twenty to seven and beat
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: the spread, you know, so you don't really have to, like,
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: you know, score a lot of points to actually beat
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: that spread. Paul did take the points with Tennessee. Oh
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: did he is this before he knew that? Josh Dobbs
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: just ye quarterback? Maybe? Okay, Hey, you're gonna cut out earlier.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: You're lost. Well even if you will say that he
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: did anyway, all right, you got both Dallas both ways? Yeah,
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: I got Dallas both ways. Um Sunday at one, uh,
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: the four and eleven Cardinals are at the five and
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: ten Falcons. This game is for the Birds, literally and figuratively.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: We got the Falcons minus three. Paul took San Francisco
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: both ways. Wait what what are you? Sorry? Atlanta? Sorry
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: it didn't match up? Come on, what is he? He's
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: got very bad lines? Atlanta both ways for Paul um
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: and you know what, that's what the deuce is going
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: to do too. I'll take Atlanta both ways. M Yeah,
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: Atlanta both ways? Okay, so I'm confident about the Desmond
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: ritter for the Falcons. Yeah, I like me some ritter.
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Falcons both ways as well, and
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: my my runner up if it's not Bill O'Brien, Cliff
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: Kingsbury gets fired by the Cardinals. Would love that, I think, really, yes,
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: love it. I'm gonna go with the Falcons both ways
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: their home so uh. Sunday at one, the three and
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: twelve Bears are at the seven and eight Lions and
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: a tough loss Bears. This is Detroit by six after
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: a tough loss last week. Paul went Detroit both ways,
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: and that's that's what I'm gonna do to Detroit. Allay
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: the points, Lions to win, Lions against the spread. I
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: like the Lions to win because I think they all
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: they will play hard for Dan Campbell, even though I
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: think this game is meaningless for them. But I like
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: the Bears to cover. I think the divisional game it'll
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: be close. Evan is correct, that's the call. Take the Lions,
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: but take the points. Sunday at one, the seven and
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: eight surging Jaguars are at the two, twelve and one Texans.
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: Houston by sorry Jacksonville. Buy a four and a half
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: and what are the sharp snow here? So not they
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: they got to win this one, right like to to
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: set up next week to be kind of for the division?
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: Is that what we're Yeah? Well, I mean if they're
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: both seven and eight, right, so if the Titans lose
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: to the Cowboys and not necessarily so, it's it seems
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: like it's head in that direction. I'm gonna take Jacksonville,
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: but I'm gonna take Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: gonna take the points with Houston though, I think it'll
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: be really Yeah, all the Sharps that I would think
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: that that spread would be a little bit more. That's
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: why I think the Sharps know something here. I'm gonna
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: give it all to the Jaguars Jacks, Trevor, this is
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: a It's a good game for the Jaguars to learn
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: what they're really about, because this is a trap game
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: to right division games against a team that's playing for nothing.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: If they're the Jaguars of old, they somehow find a
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: way to lose this game. But I don't think they are.
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: How professional are we? I take the Jaguars, I take
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: them to cover. I think they they win that division
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: as well. Yeah, I'm going I'm riding with Trevor Lawrence
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: Jaguars both ways. I'm I'm happy for him, you know,
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: I hate waste the talent. Yeah, and I'm happy that
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: he's starting a role. I just think it's good for
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: the league. You need quarterbacks. You need good quarterbacks in
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: the league. Yea. Not in Jackson though, Yeah, I don't,
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: you know, I'm just thinking of the person. Not to
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: the Jets though, and they'll be actually good. Sunday at
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: one the four and eleven Broncos are at the twelve
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: and three Chiefs. Two games in a row on the
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: road for Broncos. That's that's weird. That's really outside of it.
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: And I don't think it's going to help them. Fred.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: This is Kansas City by twelve and a half, I
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: might add, And I think that I'm gonna lay every
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: single one of those twelve and a half points, casey,
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: casey for me. Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs. As well. The
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: Broncos their interim head coaches like they're Ernie Adams, because
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: they went through like three assistant coaches and all of
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: them said they didn't want the job. So that that's
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: an absolute mess. So in Denver. Yeah, I'm surprised because
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: AFC West is is pretty competitive, or it has been
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: over the but Mahomes has never lost to the Broncos.
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: Is that right or sounds right something like that. Maybe
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: haven't been very good sincere but they have those weird
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: repetitive games and the ricks. I'm just a little surprised.
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: So I'm gonna go with the Chiefs both ways. Uh,
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: they you know, I know they're twelve and three, but
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: their offense has to kind of get a little bit
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: more consistent. You know, they have these lulls during games
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: where you know they're just not doing much. Um, So
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: they have to get ready for the playoffs. So I
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: think they're gonna play hard. Um, eight and seven Dolphins.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: This is at one o'clock. Oh, I have to skip over.
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: I'm sorry, what are we doing? Yeah? What am I doing?
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: One o'clock? Um for four? The four ten and one
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: Colts are at the eight six and one Giants. That
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: is the Gyn minus six and god, what's going on
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: in Indie? Now? I don't need Carson White is coming back?
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: I don't know in Indie. Yeah, I know, No, he's
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: coming back. In the command is it? Oh? Sorry, jeezus,
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: I lost my mind right there, didn't I that would
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: be that would be a neat trap. Sorry, I messed
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: up my Carson Wentz history. Um, and not that it
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: really matters. I'm gonna go the frightened Brian Dables minus six.
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: I'll take the Giants both ways. Me too, I take
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: the Giants both ways as well. The culture tanking, Yeah,
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: there's starting Nick Foles in that game over. Matt Ryan
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: is a full on tank job. So I think they
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: keep tanking. Yeah, I think the Giants both ways as well.
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: Sunday at one six and nine, Saints are at the
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: thirteen and two Eagles. That's the Eagles buy five and
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: a half. It hurts back, I think, Yeah, I just
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: saw that update Nick spotted Nick Sirianni's what's the number
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: playing close to the best five and a half Philadelphia,
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: Paul went Philadelphia both ways. Um, yeah, I'm gonna go Philadelphia.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: But you know what, I'm gonna take those points. I
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: just think it's gonna be a weird player, weird close game. Yeah.
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: I like uh, I like Mike strategy here final Yeah,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: I like Philly both ways. So what what is Philly
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: wrapped up. They've they have, They've won their division, They've
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: won the division? Do they have? So the cow Boys
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: have four losses? They have two? Who else? What's San
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: Francisco all they've actually? Uh, I think they've only clinched
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: the playoff berth technically, yeah, because San Francisco has four
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: losses too, so there's two gates. So yeah, that's not
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: that's not sold yet, so they still have to play. Yes, yea,
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: so at lal, I'm sorry giants all around. Yeah, Philly, Philly, Philly,
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: I'm a mess. I don't Philly Philly. You're running the
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: ship over there and he's falling apart. Everyone can tell
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: Paul what a great job I did. I'd appreciate. Did
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: you already pick out? Did you? Yes? Uh? Yeah, Okay,
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Eagles. But Sunday at one, six and nine,
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: and Panthers are at the seven and eight Buccaneers that
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: would be where's TV whether it is Tampa Bay minus
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: three and Paul went Carolina both ways and that's playing
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: well running the ball. Huh. I don't think I'm gonna
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: do that, though, I'm gonna go Tampa Bay both ways.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna go Tampa Bay to win, but
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: I Am not going to give them the points. I
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: like Tampa Bay as well because the one thing that
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: the Bucks defense does really well stop the round. I
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: don't think Carolina is gonna be able to run on them.
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: So I'll take the Bucks both ways. I'll take the Bucks,
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: but i'll take the three points, you know, because Brady wins,
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: but you didn't win by a lot like nineteen sixteen
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: and games like that. So I'll take the Bucks, but
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: I will take the three points. Sunday at one, six
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: and nine Browns or at the seven, seven and one Commanders.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: Now you can talk about I can talk about Carson. Yeah,
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: what the hell are they doing? Washington minus two, I'm
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: gonna take. I'm gonna take Cleveland. Shoot, Paul took Cleveland
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: both ways. Um, I'm gonna take Cleveland both ways though too.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: I think Carson Wentzz gonna do him in. Yeah, Cleveland
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: both ways. The commanders are fallen off there. I don't
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: know what the commanders are doing with this Carson Wentz thing.
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: It makes zero So I know Taylor Heineke hasn't been
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: playing lights out by any means, but this is ridiculous
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: I like the Browns both ways too. I think that
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson, unfortunately, is gonna have a good game at
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: some point and look like the old Deshaun Watson. I
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: like your disclaimer. Yeah yeah, this is where you have
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: to have a feel for the league, which I haven't
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: had this year. But my feelings say that the Commanders
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: win this game. Wentz comes in and you know, every
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: dog has his day and he's gonna play all right,
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: and the Commanders are gonna win this game. Now we
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: moved to the late slate four or five eleven and
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: four forty nine Ers or at the six and nine Raiders.
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: Jared's Stidham. He's getting ten, go by ten. So two
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: ex Patriot quarterbacks, right, uh yeah, you gotta uh we
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: don't like a pig Paul win San Francisco both ways.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna take San Francisco to win, but I'm gonna
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: take Steady. No, I can't do it. That's both ways.
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: What's the spread again? Ten? It's a lot of points niners.
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: But no, yeah, I'm not just saying this because I
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: kind of want Josh McDaniels to come back here. But
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: Benching Derek Carr might have lost the locker room. It
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: might have because not only are you alienating you're starting quarterback,
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: but now you're also alienating your best player in DeVante Adams.
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: I think the forty nine ers roll in this game.
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: Um yeah, I am two forty miners. What if Stidham
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: has a great game. I don't, I don't. I don't want.
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: I don't want the next two weeks, right, I mean
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: I I don't care about Vegas. I'm talking about here.
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: What is that do to want? Yeah? I don't want
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: to read the clips on Monday mornings. If that happens. Oh,
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: you'll hear it. You'll hear it. I'm gonna take both ways.
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: Um four h five. The seven and eight Jets are
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: at the seven and eight Seahawks Seattle or sorry, Jets
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: minus two, and who's quarterbacking there is Mike White. Um,
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. I got I got a good vibe.
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: I think. I Usually I don't pick against the Seahawks
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: at home, but I'm gonna go with those Jets. I
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: don't know, Mike White. Maybe they got something going Seahawks
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: both ways. So this is you know, cook, this is
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: do or die basically for both teams. But especially for
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: the Jets. If they lose, they're out of the playoffs.
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: So I like Seattle, I do. I think the road
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: thing is a factor. I think that that crowd give
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: that crowd wants a playoff game, regardless they're not like here,
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: you know they're not. Let's let's get the pick right now.
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: They want the playoffs. I hate doing it, but I'm
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: gonna go with the Jets. I think. Uh. I think
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: the DVA is for real and they'll score just enough.
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: With Mike White. Paul was on the Jets both ways.
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: Oh okay, all right, four twenty five. The twelve and three, right,
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: I forgot about them. In the NFC scenario, the twelve
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: and three Vikings are at the seven and eight Packers
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: Packers minus three Packers. Packers are favorite. Packers are rolling, yeah,
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: and I'm gonna and I'm gonna go with them. I
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: just I'm not a huge believer in Minnesota, and I
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: think Green Bay, in Green Bay, this time of year,
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: the way they're playing, I think they can pull it out.
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: This is something the Sharps know something here. Yeah, they're
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: betting with Rays the spreading Aaron three. But the Packers
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: are favorite seven and eighteen favorite over a twelve and
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: three team. It's the frozen tundra? Is it going to be?
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: What's the weather out there? Just about January? Probably should be.
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: The Vikings are now an indoor team, which is weird.
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: Doesn't you know? It doesn't even compete. Wait, they an
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: outdoor team? Yeah? When were they an outour team? Oh?
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: That's right. They always played in that metrodome? Yeah, the metrodome. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: I just I'm going way back with Bud Grant even
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: before that. I guess, oh yeah, I don't know who
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: that persin, don't know who Bud Brandt is. I'm just messing,
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: what do you got Green Bay Packer? You said Minnesota,
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: but Packers cover? What do you say? Packers win? Minnesota covers?
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: Got it? I want to pick the Packers, but I
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: don't know if Christian Watson's going to play in this game.
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: You got banged up in the last game. But I'm
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: gonna go Packers. I think they're rolling. No, he wants
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: to play the Packers like that's that's gonna be a
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: tough out on the playoffs, and I think they make it.
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: I think they squeak in, which is incredible crazy. It's
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: a division matchup, which kind of always makes things a
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: little weird when you're you know, looking at just Oh yeah, right,
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: you know that's they know each other, right, They usually
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: closer games. Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Vikings both ways,
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: well if they win, obviously making a power move. Yeah,
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with the Vikings in this game. I
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: mean they keep winning, they keep winning. UM four twenty five,
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: the five and ten Rams are at the nine and
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: six Chargers. Both teams at home, but the Chargers are
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: at home. It's a Chargers minus six and a Hay
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: so they've clinched a playoff spot. Get some more brand
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: and Staley doing the well yoga you got? You got
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: a name on that one. Yeah, it's called the It's
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: called Performative Coaches. Cato cat House is what I know what.
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: According to Kyle Van Noy, that's a real coach, by
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: the way, because he has relationships, not just they go
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: out after practice. He's got my phone in his cell
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: phone to speed dial to cat House together. Um yeah,
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go with the LAC. I
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: think they're they're rolling right now. Both ways. Yeah, me too.
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: I don't even know who's playing quarterback for the Rams
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: in this game, doesn't really matter, doesn't really matter. I
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: want to pick against the Chargers because they they have
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: these let down games where they've already clinched the playoff
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: berth and it just feels like one of those walky
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: Chargers games. But I'm gonna take I think Justin Herbert
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: has figured it out a little bit here in terms
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: of winning. Right. We's always a good quarterback, but now
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: I feel like he's he's got it kind of rolling.
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: I agree. I think Charges win this game. Um all right,
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: eight twenty uh the seven and eight Steeler are at
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: the ten and five Ravens. Another big divisional game, Ravens
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: by two and a half. Yeah, big game. We don't
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: know about Lamar though, right he's still kind of up
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: in the air. Probably not. Yeah, I'm just gonna go
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: for it with Baltimore. I think they got a little
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: more to play for at this point. They need it.
- 1:55:19Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Baltimore. Yeah, me too, Ravens. Both ways.
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: Steelers are still in it somehow. I mean they're very
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: very long shot because the tie breakers are not in
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: their favor, but they're still in it. Kenny Pickett's playing
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: a little bit better these days. But I'm still taking Baltimore.
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: What's that number again? Two and a hay only two
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: and a hay boy, if the number was bigger, I
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: take the Steelers. I'm just gonna take the Ravens here.
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: They find a way even without Lamar. All Right, Monday Night,
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: eight thirty twelve and three Bills or at the eleven
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: and four Bengals. Great game we got, Cincinnati is getting
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: a point. So Buffalo and buy one on the road
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: against Cincinnati. Great playoff preview. Man Um just so impressed
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: with Burrow, how how calm and collected he is in
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: the pocket. Tell you, though, if he makes those mistakes
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: against the Bills, he loses. Maybe, Yeah, I gotta go
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: with Buffalo, though I still think they're they're the best team.
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Buffalo both ways, Buffalo both ways. I'll
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: go with the Bills as well. I think this is
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: one of those games where you want to make a
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: statement like I'm the best quarterback in the NFL, not
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: you you know what I mean, that sort of thing,
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: and I think Josh Allen does that. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: go with the Bills. If the Bills win this game
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: thirteen and three. Um, Casey can still Casey can still
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: do Yeah, the Bengals would be that out of the
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: number one seed race, and they would be if Baltimore wins,
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: and they're right up against it in the Division two.
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: So yeah, Cincinnati both ways. Oh wow, Okay, all right,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: he didn't like the spot. Yeah what did you got, Fred? Bills? Bills? Yea,
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: all right. Now we go back to Sunday at one,
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: the eight and seven Dolphins visit the seven and eight Patriots,
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: who Patriots minus three at this point. Still, I do
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: like the Patriots in this one. I think it's three
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: three points though, is about the range of where I
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: think it's going to be a close, close one. I
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: will take the Patriots to win, and I'll lay the points,
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: but I think it's a low twenties kind of a game.
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Patriots twenty three twenty twenty three, nineteen.
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: I don't want to pick a push, but I'll go
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: Pats both ways. Good job, Paul, no push. I'm gonna
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: take the Patriots. We'll do twenty four twenty one. I'm
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: taking the Dolphins. I wanted to take the Patriots in
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: this game. But no, Marcus Jones is no point out
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: for New England, especially with all the other cornerback injuries
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: that they I just don't know how they match up
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: on defense in this game enough, so I'm not saying
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: that the Dolphins are gonna score forty, but I go
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: twenty one sixteen, my emmy. Again. The Patriots have the
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: ball in the fourth quarter and find a way to
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: mess it up. Oh come on, sorry, it's just the
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: way it's gone. This is what's gonna happen. Sorry, I'm
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: gonna pick it yeah and approve nothing game. The Patriots
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: win nineteen sixteen, So they figure it out. They do
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: take chances on defense. It pans out early enough for
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: the Patriots to get a lead and they end up
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: holding on for nineteen sixteen win. The Patriots start out, well,
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: I've been That's something that I've been waiting for me
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: this team. Can you have a good first quarter? I've
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: been hidden out this week. That's been. That's my Deuce's
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: key to the game. I'd just like to see a
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: game where they start well, get some confidence, feel like
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: hey we're going you know, just some good energy going
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: and maybe some inspiration to the defense and Hey, we
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: got some help today from the other side of the ball.
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: You know, Like I said, it's a rotating cast of like,
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: don't turn it off, so don't take too many panels.
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: So do you think it's Kendrick Bourne comes out and
- 1:58:55Speaker 1: like from the start, has a lot of reps? No? No.
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: Do you know why I think no to that? Is
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: because I don't like it looks bad? Right? If he
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: comes out and has another hundred yard game and they've
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: been sitting him on the bench all season, Yes, with
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: this coaching staff one hundred who else are they going
- 1:59:17Speaker 1: to throw it to Devonde Parker concussion protocol. I'm just
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: telling you. If they do that and it's only because
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: of optics, that's what are we doing that. I've been
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: asking myself that question. That's a fireball offense. This is
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: the NFL. What are we doing? All right? Rip pay,
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: I can tell you what we are doing. We're getting
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: ready for Catch twenty two. It's coming up right now, um,
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: and they're gonna be live on videos, so we're not
- 1:59:42Speaker 1: going to audio, staying with the video for the guys,
