- 0:56Speaker 1: Dan here, Danny DeVito here, and that's the music I went.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Jerry is dead. He's not here. Boy who's in Mathis?
- 1:10Speaker 1: He's a lot but canceled. I can't fired. Not canceled.
- 1:13Speaker 1: He should have been canceled. Oh yeah, let's be honest.
- 1:16Speaker 1: You want to go first? You want me to go first? Okay?
- 1:18Speaker 1: Hit me? Yeah, more time.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Jacob and Keegan Eggert are suing Benjamin Tim for two
- 1:27Speaker 2: thousand and six and twenty five dollars two thousand, six
- 1:31Speaker 2: hundred and twenty five dollars. Benjamin Tim is counter suing
- 1:36Speaker 2: Jacob and Keegan. Keegan's a fun name to say for
- 1:40Speaker 2: three thousand dollars.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Let's get into it.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Keegan is like, listen, uh, my husband and I Jacob
- 1:47Speaker 2: helped BJ. They call him BJ helped bj uh BJBJXIL
- 1:52Speaker 2: and he repaid us by screwing us over XOXOBJ.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Let's say, XLX what are you talking about? Can do
- 1:58Speaker 1: bjbjx so BJ sorry?
- 2:02Speaker 2: And and Maths is like, what do you mean? He's like, well, well,
- 2:05Speaker 2: BJ and I have a history. We dated in high
- 2:07Speaker 2: school a little bit in our twenties on and off.
- 2:10Speaker 2: And I need you to know everyone hears from Wisconsin
- 2:12Speaker 2: and they don't. They're very The Wisconsin accent is thick,
- 2:16Speaker 2: like Matt straw Wooden passes.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Wisconsin to these people. Wow, it is crazy how thick
- 2:22Speaker 1: these accents are.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And they classic, like say the most blunt things and
- 2:25Speaker 2: have no emotion a classic Wisconsin.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Did right in high schoolies thirties.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Through mutual friends after he got out of prison from
- 2:38Speaker 2: for serving a felony charge.
- 2:41Speaker 1: We don't.
- 2:42Speaker 2: We never hear it. Maths is like, y'all start dating again.
- 2:44Speaker 2: She's like, no, no, no. I by then was married to
- 2:47Speaker 2: Jake here and we just happened to meet bj at
- 2:50Speaker 2: a party and he just kept talking about how he's
- 2:53Speaker 2: a felon and no one will rent him my house,
- 2:56Speaker 2: and he Kean's a Girl's a girl? Yes, yeah, I
- 3:00Speaker 2: caught me off guard to the only key and I
- 3:03Speaker 2: know is a golfer Kegan.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know why. I just assumed that this
- 3:06Speaker 1: is okay. Yeah, that's fine.
- 3:09Speaker 2: So she's like, we own and manage some different rental properties,
- 3:14Speaker 2: and we decided, yeah, we decided to help him out.
- 3:16Speaker 2: And they were like, hey, there's this one house we're
- 3:18Speaker 2: trying to sell, but you can live in it while
- 3:20Speaker 2: we're trying to sell it.
- 3:21Speaker 1: And actually it went great. He paid us rent. No problem.
- 3:24Speaker 1: If you're if you and your wife had rental properties
- 3:28Speaker 1: and your wife said, hey, my ex boyfriend, ex boyfriend
- 3:30Speaker 1: who's now a fella, who's now a fellon, would like
- 3:32Speaker 1: to rent one. How would you?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Usually wouldn't be cool with it. However, if I heard
- 3:37Speaker 2: the speech of no one rents. This is a problem,
- 3:41Speaker 2: you know, integrating people from prison back into society is
- 3:45Speaker 2: a problem. It's not rehability, and it should be. And
- 3:47Speaker 2: so I maybe would rent to him, depending on the situation.
- 3:51Speaker 1: In this case, maybe not a good idea.
- 3:53Speaker 2: He does pay rent for a bit, okay, And then
- 3:55Speaker 2: they sold that house and they had a different.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Apartment that they agreed to rent him, right, And so
- 4:03Speaker 1: he was in one property and then he they moved
- 4:05Speaker 1: him to another one, and then when he was there,
- 4:07Speaker 1: he stopped paying the rent. Did he have a job
- 4:10Speaker 1: at this point, Yeah, he works.
- 4:13Speaker 2: He's an iron worker. I don't know what that means.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I think it's the two thousands. I don't I yeah, like,
- 4:18Speaker 2: you know, a whole thing. So they go, we go
- 4:21Speaker 2: over to BJ and he's like, look, I have a
- 4:22Speaker 2: lot of respect for these individuals, I really do. They
- 4:24Speaker 2: gave me a chance, and I hate the situations we
- 4:26Speaker 2: find The situation we find ourselves in.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Today is very okay.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Then I hate no emotion on his face, obviously, but
- 4:33Speaker 2: I hate the situation we find ourselves in today. And
- 4:36Speaker 2: then he goes, I hate it because it's really involuntary.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Now I don't think he knows what involuntary means. I
- 4:41Speaker 2: think he means it's really like unfortunate or like he says,
- 4:46Speaker 2: it's really involuntary. Right, it isn't involuntary. Both people are
- 4:50Speaker 2: there out of their own volition. It's not involuntary. But
- 4:52Speaker 2: that's what he says. It is the reaon. I hate
- 4:55Speaker 2: the situation we find ourselves in today. It's really involuntary,
- 4:59Speaker 2: it is. He did involved like he didn't know too. No,
- 5:03Speaker 2: He's like, everything went well early on renting from them,
- 5:06Speaker 2: but unfortunately I'm an iron worker and unfortunately in da
- 5:11Speaker 2: tell me more bj uh, there was a lull and work,
- 5:15Speaker 2: and so I let them know I wasn't gonna be
- 5:17Speaker 2: able to pay him, and everything was verbal between us.
- 5:20Speaker 2: So I always paid in cash and I know that's
- 5:21Speaker 2: probably not the best. And Mathis is like, no, it
- 5:23Speaker 2: is not the best. He gives a full bit on
- 5:25Speaker 2: how that's not the best. So back to Keegan. Keegan's
- 5:28Speaker 2: like he started paying us partial amounts of the rent,
- 5:31Speaker 2: so we would show up at the house at our
- 5:34Speaker 2: house and just hand me some cash. But what I
- 5:37Speaker 2: started noticing is is he would only come to my
- 5:39Speaker 2: house when my husband wasn't there. Okay, so he would
- 5:43Speaker 2: only show up and my husband wasn't there, and then
- 5:45Speaker 2: he started in February, he started like talking about how
- 5:49Speaker 2: we used to date and how he missed it, and
- 5:51Speaker 2: then he made it pass at me. And at this point,
- 5:53Speaker 2: BJ's like, you're on and none of that's true. She's like,
- 5:56Speaker 2: yes it is, and I told him he had to
- 5:57Speaker 2: get out of my house. BJ's like, this is not true.
- 6:03Speaker 2: And King's like, after I kicked him out of the
- 6:04Speaker 2: house and said this wasn't happening, he never showed up again.
- 6:07Speaker 2: But he never paid us another dime of rent. So
- 6:10Speaker 2: what we have is this twenty six hundred and twenty
- 6:12Speaker 2: five dollars that were owed. And Maths is like, did
- 6:15Speaker 2: you do you own that money? And BJ's like, yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 2: we worked that one month. It's three months. Wow, yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 2: so ate something whatever. BJ's like, we worked at an
- 6:25Speaker 2: agreement that I didn't need to move out and so
- 6:27Speaker 2: they let me stay. Oh no, no, I take that back.
- 6:30Speaker 2: They're not charging for any of that back payment. They
- 6:33Speaker 2: worked out a deal that he could stay in the
- 6:36Speaker 2: house until he found somewhere else and save up so
- 6:39Speaker 2: he could put a deposit down somewhere else. So they're
- 6:41Speaker 2: going bending over backwards here after. And so I saved
- 6:47Speaker 2: up for a few months until I found a place,
- 6:49Speaker 2: and we had a verbal agreement, not a contract, that
- 6:52Speaker 2: once I got into my new place and got on
- 6:53Speaker 2: my feet, I would pay them this money back. And
- 6:56Speaker 2: Keegan was like, it was three and a half months
- 6:58Speaker 2: without paying, and we waited and waited, and he kept
- 7:02Speaker 2: saying he couldn't pay us, and then he just stopped
- 7:04Speaker 2: returning our text and start returning our phone calls. BJ's like, okay,
- 7:07Speaker 2: that's true. But then they started harassing me. That's why
- 7:10Speaker 2: I'm suing for three thousand dollars. They showed up to
- 7:12Speaker 2: my place soon for more than they are. They showed
- 7:16Speaker 2: up to my place of business. Jake came in yelling
- 7:19Speaker 2: and screaming, talking about me, saying don't buy anything. Clearly
- 7:23Speaker 2: he works at some iron building store. He punched me
- 7:28Speaker 2: in the chest. We walked outside. He told me he
- 7:33Speaker 2: hates me. I've just had a baby. He told me
- 7:35Speaker 2: he helps my baby die. Jack Jake is like, He's like, like,
- 7:41Speaker 2: I'm talking like this guy looks like he works at staples.
- 7:48Speaker 2: He is like balding glasses beard, five foot six.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Maybe maybe in it a little bit. Yeah, He's like
- 7:57Speaker 1: he's just laughing.
- 7:58Speaker 2: He's like, I did not say that I hope his
- 8:01Speaker 2: baby dies, your honor, I would never say that.
- 8:04Speaker 1: This is tough because anyone can say anything about anybody,
- 8:07Speaker 1: and there's no way, there's no way.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Keegan's like, look, we never say anything like that. We
- 8:12Speaker 2: couldn't get a hold of him. Our mortgage company called,
- 8:14Speaker 2: we needed to pay this. We rely on this. We're
- 8:16Speaker 2: not independently wealthy. And so we went to his work
- 8:18Speaker 2: when he stopped returning our calls. And immediately I'm I'm
- 8:23Speaker 2: waiting in the van. Uh and and and Jake's like,
- 8:27Speaker 2: your honor, my wife's in the van. I'm a pacifist.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I've literally never hit anyone much less again a guy
- 8:34Speaker 2: twice my size.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And BJ's a big dude. Like he's big dude.
- 8:38Speaker 2: You know, there's transition lenses, a beard like one chain
- 8:42Speaker 2: like full wisconsintion.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Does DJ have any proof that he was punched in
- 8:45Speaker 1: the chest? No, he has now and his baby is
- 8:47Speaker 1: still alive. He's like, yeah, his baby's still very much alike.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Jake's like, I walk out of the parking lot and
- 8:53Speaker 1: BJ follows me, and all of his employees follow me
- 8:55Speaker 1: and they're yelling and screaming at me. He just pissed
- 8:58Speaker 1: off a store fall of iron band. Jake is like,
- 9:02Speaker 1: or Mathis is like, why did his colleagues follow you
- 9:05Speaker 1: out there? Cut it? That's it all rise uh.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Kegan's like, look, you're on her house in the car.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I saw the whole thing. It did get heated. They
- 9:16Speaker 2: were all out there yelling at him, and Maths is like,
- 9:19Speaker 2: hold on, you don't have a contract. You walk in
- 9:22Speaker 2: there and he's twice your size and the employees felt
- 9:26Speaker 2: the need to follow him out. You started something. I'm
- 9:32Speaker 2: not saying I know what you did.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I'm not saying he started the fire, but.
- 9:35Speaker 2: You started something like you show up at this guy's
- 9:38Speaker 2: place of business to try to get money from him
- 9:40Speaker 2: while he's working, and his coworkers feel the need to
- 9:44Speaker 2: follow him outside. You started something. And Jake's like, we
- 9:50Speaker 2: weren't jeopardizing his job, and he was like, you went
- 9:53Speaker 2: to his job. You went to a felon's job who's
- 9:57Speaker 2: trying to work, and you went to his place of business.
- 10:00Speaker 2: You are threatening his job. Mathis is ready to rule.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So there's no written agreement about this, but bj does
- 10:12Speaker 1: admit that he would, so I am personally I think
- 10:19Speaker 1: that they deserve their money. So I think he's going
- 10:22Speaker 1: to rule give that. Does he still have his job?
- 10:29Speaker 1: We don't know. I think he does. Then no, I'm
- 10:31Speaker 1: not going to give him any money. I think, listen,
- 10:34Speaker 1: what we called you, We at least know you're going
- 10:37Speaker 1: to be here at these hours. That's where you need
- 10:39Speaker 1: to go to at least try to make another attempt
- 10:42Speaker 1: at getting your money back. I think that's the way
- 10:44Speaker 1: that that is. And I'm sorry, I'm sorry. He gives
- 10:48Speaker 1: both parties their full amount. He gives the guy the
- 10:51Speaker 1: three thousands, and I you know, Mathis I believe was
- 10:55Speaker 1: in jail as a youngster. This is a big deal
- 10:58Speaker 1: for him. Judge though, and you can't let you.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Can't go to everybody's place of business and have an
- 11:04Speaker 2: altercation to ask for money. And they said, what were
- 11:07Speaker 2: we They said, they he rules, and they said what
- 11:09Speaker 2: were we supposed to do? And he goes this, right here,
- 11:13Speaker 2: you're supposed to come to my court so I can
- 11:15Speaker 2: give you your money. That's what you're supposed to do.
- 11:18Speaker 2: And he gives him the three thousand.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I don't know there, I understand but I also am
- 11:23Speaker 1: just like you don't want to bring someone to court. No,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I would probably do something similar to this. Hey, I've
- 11:31Speaker 1: reached out to you many times. You haven't you stopped responding.
- 11:35Speaker 1: But yes, no, no, I know you're there, So let me
- 11:38Speaker 1: go have a conversation with.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Clearly, you started an argument. You didn't come in and go, hey,
- 11:42Speaker 2: where's my money?
- 11:43Speaker 1: A bunch of dudes working with iron, that's right. You
- 11:46Speaker 1: know it's an iron building store. It's an iron building store.
- 11:49Speaker 1: To go there and.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Purchase iron built things, and maybe he sign up for
- 11:53Speaker 2: iron building classes.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I don't know. I have no idea. While I like,
- 11:56Speaker 1: obviously I don't want a phone to lose his job,
- 11:58Speaker 1: it's also clear that his co workers are on his side,
- 12:02Speaker 1: like he's not losing his job out of this situation.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. That's the way the
- 12:08Speaker 1: gable crumbles is the galumut of cook? Could be? Could be, Hey,
- 12:13Speaker 1: let's have her to judge Jerry's courtroom rip. Obviously judge.
- 12:19Speaker 1: They're short and they're easy. I've only done one ever. Yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 1: I don't have the plaintiff's names. Uh, they don't really talk.
- 12:28Speaker 1: They're inconsequential in this this is all about the defendants,
- 12:33Speaker 1: which is Katherine and Katrice Martin. Now this is a
- 12:38Speaker 1: twins v twins situation, twins suing twins. Judge Jerry and
- 12:45Speaker 1: an interesting uh turn of events, asks the defendants how
- 12:49Speaker 1: they met. The plaintiffs go straight to the defendants and
- 12:53Speaker 1: I think I know why, and it is because Katrice
- 12:55Speaker 1: and Katherine have committed to doing this entire case to
- 13:00Speaker 1: talk in unison. Oh no, this is a thing that
- 13:03Speaker 1: we would try. This is a thing that they decide
- 13:05Speaker 1: they're going to do. So in unison they say that
- 13:09Speaker 1: we met at twin Fest, so it's like we met
- 13:13Speaker 1: at twin Fest. What's funny about this bit is that
- 13:16Speaker 1: it works less than it does. Wait, it doesn't work.
- 13:23Speaker 1: It doesn't work very often, Like they're not always it
- 13:27Speaker 1: works at first we met at twin Fest, because they know, listen,
- 13:33Speaker 1: our first thing is gonna we're going to say we
- 13:35Speaker 1: met at twin Fest. And as much as they'd like
- 13:38Speaker 1: it to, but it's what they do. They try to
- 13:41Speaker 1: talk in unison. So apparently twin Fest is you might
- 13:48Speaker 1: want to know this for your boys, But twin Fest
- 13:50Speaker 1: is the first week of August in Twinsburg, Ohio. It
- 13:54Speaker 1: is Twinsburg, Ohio. It is the largest gathering of twins
- 13:59Speaker 1: in the world. And Catherine and Katrice have been going
- 14:04Speaker 1: since they were babies. They say, we've been going since
- 14:08Speaker 1: we were babies. They say they're from the the area,
- 14:12Speaker 1: but but far enough away from Twinsborough, Ohio to where
- 14:16Speaker 1: they io UH to where they need to find a
- 14:20Speaker 1: place to stay during twin Fest, which is what all
- 14:23Speaker 1: of this is about, by the way, and so, and
- 14:27Speaker 1: they say that at twins Fest they always end up
- 14:31Speaker 1: getting the award for twins that look the most alike.
- 14:36Speaker 1: And they say that in Unison, oh Kieran, Keana, I
- 14:39Speaker 1: got I did get there, n Kira and Kean at
- 14:42Speaker 1: least Judge Jerry names they are the ones that are assuing.
- 14:47Speaker 1: He does ask them why, and basically they said that
- 14:52Speaker 1: they came to twin Fest and it's hard to get
- 14:55Speaker 1: a room at twin Fest, so many twins, so little
- 14:58Speaker 1: room and twins, and so they heard from Katrice and
- 15:05Speaker 1: Uh and Catherine that they were having a tough time
- 15:09Speaker 1: as well. So they decide that they're gonna little Yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 1: four four people for two sets of.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Twins, one room, one room, room one room, not one
- 15:20Speaker 2: like rental one room, one room.
- 15:22Speaker 1: In a hotel. Catherine and Katrice speak up and they say, yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 1: it is hard to get a room. Then Jerry says
- 15:31Speaker 1: he knows about twins. He's twins with Brad Pitt. So
- 15:37Speaker 1: that's like a funny joke. He decides to make about
- 15:40Speaker 1: how he's a he's a twin with Yeah, because he
- 15:42Speaker 1: looks similar, and they laugh. That's good, that's a good joke.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Jerry says, Okay, so I assume that this joke, He says,
- 15:51Speaker 1: so I assumed the room had twin beds. So he
- 15:57Speaker 1: asks them about the split room, and they say, we
- 16:01Speaker 1: decided we were going to go and get a bigger
- 16:03Speaker 1: room and we would split that room. We would all
- 16:06Speaker 1: go in together. Uh kay and kay as I will
- 16:10Speaker 1: call them now, uh say, yes, this is true. They
- 16:13Speaker 1: live close. But they didn't want to miss the parade.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Wants in Twinsburg, Ohio. You don't want to miss the parade,
- 16:19Speaker 1: you wouldn't. So they were gonna say when the parades
- 16:22Speaker 1: the grand finale, and in order to be traffic they
- 16:26Speaker 1: typically skip the parade. They don't want to miss the
- 16:28Speaker 1: parade this year, so they're gonna they're gonna go in
- 16:31Speaker 1: with we go in all in together. They're gonna stay
- 16:34Speaker 1: for five days and they say this is no problem.
- 16:36Speaker 1: But then they have to leave early because their apartment
- 16:40Speaker 1: caught on fire, so they can't stay. And so how
- 16:45Speaker 1: did they do this? I don't did they get a
- 16:47Speaker 1: call from the fire department from it, yes, friends or
- 16:51Speaker 1: what I guess apartment cards they have proof.
- 16:54Speaker 2: And of course they don't have proof apartment caught on fire.
- 17:01Speaker 1: So we see texts from K and K saying that
- 17:04Speaker 1: they're going, they're good to go to the twins Fest
- 17:07Speaker 1: and that they'll pay half of it and all that
- 17:09Speaker 1: good stuff the other girls. This isn't really important, but
- 17:14Speaker 1: apparently they used to take turns paying in full for
- 17:19Speaker 1: a place. So I guess isn't the first time they've
- 17:22Speaker 1: split a room. I don't know, and that they this
- 17:28Speaker 1: was the first time they had decided to do a
- 17:30Speaker 1: split a full split sky situation. Okay, and judge Jerry's
- 17:34Speaker 1: right role. Everybody's got to pay there for sure, this
- 17:37Speaker 1: is done. The law is clear, you said you'd pay half,
- 17:39Speaker 1: you gotta pay. Yeah, let's say in Nubison, law is clear,
- 17:44Speaker 1: you've said you gotta pay half, so you gotta pay
- 17:47Speaker 1: half and twins. Was this case entirely built upon a bit? Yes? Yes?
