Originally projected at $200 million, the project now tops $335 million, prompting officials to scrap it and redirect funds to fire trucks, police cars, and community centers. Instead, they’re renovating the existing courthouse for about $260 million, adding 25 modern courtrooms and using the Karnes building as a temporary hub.
