- 0:00I'm talking about seven autism apps you need and we're breaking
- 0:04it down right now. Okay.
- 0:06So these are my seven kind of like top 10 apps.
- 0:09I think a super beneficial to anybody on the Spectrum.
- 0:12I'm going to break it down for you right now.
- 0:14So you can see exactly which ones they are.
- 0:16So I got these apps because I've used these I'm showing you apps
- 0:20that I either use or have known people to use and have been
- 0:23beneficial to them. So the first album talking about
- 0:25here is big if you guys don't know what big is it's kind of
- 0:29like an app where you can type text onto the screen and it will
- 0:35show you what the the typing is in a big large bold font in on a
- 0:40black background and white text now as you guys can see the side
- 0:43of me here. This is what it looks like when
- 0:46it's actually, you know on a screen you can type in messages
- 0:50like hey, how are you? This is great for a few reasons
- 0:53off your nonverbal autistic individual.
- 0:56You can use this to communicate with somebody you may also have
- 0:58other issues. Where you Partially die for
- 1:03certain things like that or hard of hearing and you could use
- 1:05this to get people to type it to you to text stuff to use you can
- 1:08actually read it. I find this super useful I use
- 1:10all the time when sometimes you're not feeling it you're not
- 1:13feeling like to grate and you want to kind of just chill out
- 1:15but you still want to communicate with somebody in a
- 1:17room so you can always just type this message out and then just
- 1:19pulled your phone and say like hey 1T and be like yo, check it
- 1:26John T. So you guys have heard me
- 1:28mention this next app before. Or and I'm really fond of this
- 1:32app. I think it's an amazing app, and
- 1:34I've used it for quite a while. Now.
- 1:35This app is called mood it now mood.
- 1:38It is kind of like it reminds me a bit of Instagram and Facebook.
- 1:42It's kind of like you can put a state as up by like saying hey,
- 1:45you know, I'm, you know, not feeling good today at all.
- 1:50If you can put like a mood hacking like when feeling down I
- 1:56watch my best TV show And then you publish it and then goes out
- 2:02and it's great. You can also publish like
- 2:04images. You can like take pictures you
- 2:05post your mood. So today I'm feeling bored and
- 2:10then you can go next. I'm just like add an image or
- 2:13whatever it would take a camera photo here. and like basically
- 2:20you can just post directly to this like a site.
- 2:24Basically, I guess if I go, it's like a feed you can post
- 2:26directly to the feed and it just appears on other people's these
- 2:30kind of like Instagram, you know, you'd be scrolling through
- 2:32and you see something that says oh this person's put mu tackle.
- 2:35This person's put their mood up the cool thing about mood.
- 2:37It is act non-judgmental. You can actually just, you know,
- 2:40navigate your way around here and it's kind of like, you know,
- 2:43you want to like put your mood out there and look for support
- 2:45from people saying like I'm feeling a bit down today or
- 2:46feeling anxious and people want to respond in a good way.
- 2:50The offers that it's completely non judgmental people great on
- 2:53it. I mean, I found to be very
- 2:55beneficial and I feel like people actually enjoy mood it.
- 2:58It has like it's almost like this support for mental health
- 3:01kind of like a social media app. I think it has great potential
- 3:04and I love it. Again.
- 3:06All the links to all of these apps are going to be description
- 3:07below. But yeah mood it awesome.
- 3:10Check them out. Okay guys.
- 3:10So the next app I'm going to talk about is prolonged to go
- 3:13now. I don't use this app because I
- 3:16am a verbal autistic person, but I know a lot of people who have
- 3:21used this app to create succession and found that it
- 3:24helps them a great deal. So promoted girl is kind of like
- 3:28a super accessible like Emoji symbol based communication app,
- 3:34right? And I know loads of people to
- 3:35use this Naomi my girlfriend when she was working in a school
- 3:39with autistic people that she'd actually use the iPads to use
- 3:42prologue to go. It's highly recommended for
- 3:45anybody who is struggling to have their kids to communicate
- 3:48and learn other things as you can see.
- 3:50Pros to go offers a range of different things dry find just
- 3:53fantastic one of the most amazing things about 400 to go.
- 3:55Is it super accessible anybody can learn to use it and you
- 3:58don't have to be like, you know iPad illiterate so using and
- 4:01just basically have an iPad and just check it out and you know,
- 4:04you can just get going straight away.
- 4:05It is slightly more expensive side, but I believe it's worth
- 4:09it. And if you are somewhere your
- 4:10insurance covers It in America Tour here in the UK where a
- 4:12grant could cover it. I highly recommend checking it
- 4:14out because it's a good app. So as you can see, this is the
- 4:17logo of it when you go to the App Store.
- 4:19I actually don't own it. It because you know, I don't
- 4:22have a need for it and it's like 249 pounds to buy here.
- 4:25But as you can see it offers a selection a range of amazing
- 4:28things. I like I really like it.
- 4:31It's got great reviews and like just the amount of symbols that
- 4:34has on it. It's just incredible Pros ago is
- 4:37awesome. I highly recommend it.
- 4:38I feel like everybody who has a nonverbal autistic individual
- 4:42could benefit from this. And another thing.
- 4:44This is a benefit for anybody who is disabled in a nonverbal
- 4:48sense or you know, Issues with communicating I think that
- 4:52there's a lot of benefit from pearls to go especially for an
- 4:54accessibility tool. So next up I'm going to talk
- 4:57about is what I'm going to cover quite extensively because I'm
- 4:59actually going to use this app to go to VidCon next month to
- 5:03schedule everything. I'm doing my work.
- 5:04I'm just going to give you an overview of what it is.
- 5:06So this app is called Timo now Timo basically a it's kind of
- 5:11like it's an app to help assist you in scheduling your day and
- 5:15like getting structure a visual structure to your day.
- 5:18Now I struggle with like having Structured day to day and making
- 5:21sure that I'm sticking some structure and making sure things
- 5:23are very routine. But with Timo it kind of give
- 5:26you these symbols you can like put everything you're going to
- 5:28do like you're going to go to the gym today.
- 5:29You remember this you're going to do some gaming you can go out
- 5:31to dinner it like gives you like halfway Max I get halfway
- 5:34through the day or you're kind of like halfway home or your you
- 5:38know, it's just amazing it schedule everything around it.
- 5:41So by pure entire to do can be in this visual guide represented
- 5:46in this flow chart on your iPhone, but it also Comes with
- 5:51access to like Apple's iPhone apples watch as well so you can
- 5:54have it come up on the watch and I can give you like prongs on
- 5:57the watch. This is also available for
- 5:58Android as well. So most of these apps I'm
- 6:00talking about right now available on Android and iOS,
- 6:03but I'm going to leave the links for the iOS ones below just so
- 6:05that it's easier because I use apple.
- 6:07I've just used them now teams have great one and I'm actually
- 6:10going to put it to its s so if you want to see how it performs
- 6:12on an actual like how does it perform always to VidCon?
- 6:16We're going to be using Timo to see how we can like it's going
- 6:19to organize. My entire life for that like,
- 6:22you know eight days wherein VidCon or whatever it's going to
- 6:24be amazing. So yeah, I highly recommend
- 6:26checking out the T-Mobile. I think it's like it's
- 6:28specifically made for with ADHD and autism.
- 6:30I mean like how cool is this? It's not every day that you find
- 6:33an app that a tailored to your specific needs.
- 6:36Awesome. Okay guys.
- 6:37So the next app I'm going to talk about is speech Bloods.
- 6:40Now this company reached out to me and say can check out our app
- 6:42and I absolutely loved it. And I feel like this could
- 6:44benefit so many people so they wanted to get, you know a
- 6:47collaboration going for video and here is our These that this
- 6:51is a fantastic app. What it does is it encourages
- 6:55children to be more verbal and can teach them loads of cool
- 6:58things like it has like reputation.
- 7:01Like you can have a sound that they can reply to sounds it can
- 7:04mimic sounds you can record themselves on the others
- 7:06overlays. There's like all kinds of cool
- 7:08fun stuff and it's just one of those absolutely feel like, you
- 7:12know, somebody's going to benefit from it because there's
- 7:15a sound that something makes and then you can guess that sound
- 7:19and then you Can record yourself doing that sound as well, you
- 7:22can like look at faces and see like what is this feeling
- 7:25because I you know, obviously people who with an awesome
- 7:27special condition have issues with like, you know, what
- 7:29Facebook's question is what kind of like, you know, what words do
- 7:32what I find there's just this is a super super awsome the app
- 7:36actually comes with a whole host of other things.
- 7:39I mean, there's amazing see little petting zoo animal
- 7:41kingdom down the world and it basically the way of
- 7:45encouraging, you know, speech through voice-controlled.
- 7:50Jen's house, like visual support for like everyday life stuff.
- 7:53I mean, this is a very structured app.
- 7:55I mean in terms of like if you want it for like little children
- 7:59and young people to be more encouraged to talk and learn
- 8:02more about speech will capillary and things like that disciples
- 8:05amazing highly recommend it please check it out.
- 8:08I'm like, yeah, they're just the super awesome and they're really
- 8:10nice guys as well. Okay guys, so this next app I
- 8:13use every single day. It's cold.
- 8:16Bring now bring allows you to create.
- 8:20It visual shopping lists or like grocery store list of things
- 8:23that you need to buy from the store.
- 8:25And then you like find the thing.
- 8:26You don't like pasta sauce rolls eggs also spinach and then it
- 8:28makes some red at the top. But what I find interesting
- 8:31about us it tells you what the item is, but it also shows a
- 8:33small little graphic of the item.
- 8:35So see a word is one thing but actually visually seeing what
- 8:38that word is helps a lot, especially when you're looking
- 8:41for things in a store and if you're like me, you know visual
- 8:44representation helps you identify what you need in a day
- 8:46to day life. This app is great for that.
- 8:48It's totally free. It just has a whole host of
- 8:51other things. I mean it even gives you like
- 8:52recipes it knows what food you bought until the rest of your
- 8:55stuff. This is amazing.
- 8:56I love it and it is highly worth having and using if you do a lot
- 9:00of like the shop and grocery store stuff or if you want to
- 9:02teach somebody how to do shopping and like grocery store
- 9:05stuff. So yeah, definitely check it
- 9:06out. Okay guys.
- 9:07So the last thing I'm going to talk about is kind of not really
- 9:09one app or like a bunch of apps. This is like voice to Tax
- 9:13Technology. Now, I use my iPhone and my iPad
- 9:16and my MacBook on a daily basis. I love my iPad.
- 9:19I love my iPhone. And the reason I love it is this
- 9:22I'm dyslexic and I'm autistic. So I have an issue with
- 9:26communicating and spelling and speed.
- 9:28So I'm trying to take things down my brains when we thousand
- 9:31miles an hour. So the ability to talk to my
- 9:34phone and it to help me complete tasks even open things up
- 9:37schedule stuff remind me things because my memory is terrible my
- 9:40short-term memory doesn't even exist.
- 9:42My long-term. Memory is pretty good.
- 9:43I can tell you everything there is to know about you know stuff
- 9:45that happened when I was like eight years old, but right now
- 9:48thinking oh, I've got to do this at this day.
- 9:50Doesn't really work but I can tell my phone he Siri set up an
- 9:52appointment for this day. I do this with this day.
- 9:55And that would be super awesome. Now that works really really
- 9:58well the voice technology also does something amazing for
- 10:02dyslexia it help me spell because I can't spell things.
- 10:06I don't know what things are and people say oh look at a
- 10:07dictionary. But how are you gonna find
- 10:09something in the dictionary? If you don't know how to spell
- 10:11it. So this is what I do.
- 10:12I look at my phone and I say the word to my phone and it produces
- 10:15it from dictation to text and it shows me exactly what the word
- 10:19is and How to spell and then this is the best thing about the
- 10:22iPhone and the iPad is you can highlight the word and click
- 10:26look up and it'll tell you through a thesaurus where the
- 10:29word is used in context how it's used where you typically use it.
- 10:32It's just amazing and that technology voice to text is
- 10:36amazing groundbreaking and has changed my life as an avid, you
- 10:41know user of technology. I found that Apple products and
- 10:44smart tablets and things like that have just revolutionized my
- 10:48life.
