- 0:01Sure, greatest a brother Howard is great to see and hear hear
- 0:05you as sister Tanya. So great to see you all and
- 0:07everyone is great to be with you this morning.
- 0:10Just a blessing to gather together as the Lord's people
- 0:12again, for those that are in the fellowship hall across the way
- 0:16and some still worshiping With Us online.
- 0:18We were just so thankful for the presence of each and every one
- 0:21and it's just a joy together together as God's people, one
- 0:24more time, and spend some time in worship to him.
- 0:28We're spend a few moments together this morning.
- 0:30Talking about some gifts, on everyone's wish list.
- 0:36Let me introduce this idea by kind of taking a little weird
- 0:42Journey just for a second, that I hope will make some sense here
- 0:46in just a moment. We for the most part.
- 0:50Now. I know there are exceptions to
- 0:53the rule but those are the rare exception for the most part.
- 0:56We share basically the same skeletal structure, the same 206
- 1:01bones. We share those as human beings.
- 1:05We share commonalities as far as our internal, organs are
- 1:09concerned that some of you probably on your driver's
- 1:12license, have something on there.
- 1:16That's that signifies that you are.
- 1:18Organ donor. Meaning that if the
- 1:20circumstances were such that there are organs inside your
- 1:25body that you are willing to be donated to someone else who
- 1:29could use them. So, our body parts are
- 1:32interchangeable because of the commonalities that we have is
- 1:38human beings both regarding our skeletal design.
- 1:43And all the internal organs that make us who we are as human
- 1:47beings of Course, this is by God's Design.
- 1:50This is not some magic of random Evolution.
- 1:54We know as Believers in God that he is the one who designed Us in
- 1:59this way where we have these shared traits, these shared
- 2:04physical characteristics, but I want to share with you the
- 2:09thought this morning that that's not where God stopped.
- 2:13He did not stop by just designing Us in the same way as
- 2:18human beings. Physically.
- 2:20That there are some ways that he designed us, as far as
- 2:24commonalities regarding our psyche, regarding our Behavior
- 2:28regarding our desires. Our once our needs.
- 2:32In fact, there is and his someone who credits it all with
- 2:37Evolution and human adaptation through millions of years, but
- 2:42this is Who's done a study on this very thing, he has come up
- 2:46with, he's an anthropologist his name.
- 2:48Is there. My hand are, I've got the print.
- 2:52So small Donald Brown. Okay, I see it now. 211
- 2:55Universal, human traits, characteristics that all humans
- 2:59share and he is quoted in the writing that he has done on this
- 3:02topic. That there are known.
- 3:04There are no known exceptions. So he's come up with a list of
- 3:09211 traits. These are behaviors.
- 3:13Of Ural, these are psychological.
- 3:15The things that make us tick the things that make up who we are
- 3:19not from a skeletal standpoint or a biological standpoint, but
- 3:23it's what makes us as far as our Essence is concerned.
- 3:27Now, he credits this with evolutionary process and human
- 3:31adaptation over millions of years.
- 3:32This is just another example of God's design.
- 3:35Is it not where God did not stop just by making our skeletal
- 3:39frame similar by giving us the same.
- 3:43Organs, but he gave us some of the same inherent innate needs
- 3:49desires, Tendencies behaviors. There's some of these things
- 3:56that we share and so that's why I can make a bold statement and
- 4:00say with such a diverse crowd is here this morning, that there
- 4:04are some things that are on all of our wish list.
- 4:09These are some things that all of us want that all of us desire
- 4:13and I want to share just a couple of them.
- 4:15By no means, are we going to get into an exhaustive study of
- 4:19those things that we share as far as human beings as far as
- 4:21our basic wants and needs and desires.
- 4:24Our concern but just a couple want us to examine this morning
- 4:28and maybe when it's my turn to preach again, I'll do a few more
- 4:33on the list. This is a gift giving time of
- 4:35year. So we're thinking about gifts
- 4:37that we're planning to give others.
- 4:39I heard a statistic Benjamin. I know it's ramped up for you
- 4:43and your line of work. I heard a statistic starting, I
- 4:46think, 10 days ago. They were estimating on average
- 4:49every day from about 10 days ago, until Christmas 7 million.
- 4:54Packages will be delivered just in the United States per day
- 4:59every day on average from 10 days ago, till Christmas a lot
- 5:04of stuff being given and received this time of year.
- 5:10And so we're going to talk about some things that God is offering
- 5:13to give us that. We desperately want that.
- 5:17We need that we desire. These are a couple of things
- 5:20that God is offering to give to us every single day.
- 5:25And these are also gifts that in our Christian Life and our
- 5:28Christian walk. We have the ability to give to
- 5:32one another. And let's begin with a desire
- 5:36that we have for stability Under the Umbrella of that word.
- 5:41I want us to think about some additional words.
- 5:43I want us to think about safety security Comfort order,
- 5:48consistency control. These are desires that all
- 5:54humans, share. We desire, We crave stability.
- 6:02We desire, We crave control. I think that's one of the
- 6:06reasons why even among Christians.
- 6:09Those of us who have hope for eternal life brother.
- 6:11Larry. We took a minute ago about the
- 6:13hope that we have that that those angels are going to do
- 6:16just like they did with Lazarus and Luke 16.
- 6:19And the second our spirit gets ready to leave our body maybe
- 6:22even before then. I know that I was talking to my
- 6:27dad. One time.
- 6:28We were talking about his mother, my granny passing away
- 6:30and he said, I believe that. In that hospital room where she
- 6:34passed that before her spirit even left her body, that Angels
- 6:39unseen by our human eyes, but we're in that room.
- 6:41Getting ready to deliver her soul to Jesus bosom.
- 6:48And we have that trust. We have that faith.
- 6:52We have that. Hope that Assurance is
- 6:54Christians. But even if we do, there's a
- 6:57part of us that has a little bit of fear of that moment, don't
- 7:03we? Because it's a moment where
- 7:06everything that happens, when our spirit gets ready to leave
- 7:10our body. Everything that happens from
- 7:12that moment going forward is completely and totally out of
- 7:16our control, isn't it? Do we have the power to
- 7:20transport our soul to where it's going next?
- 7:25How many of you can plug that into your GPS?
- 7:28I don't think any of us knows where it is, and where we're
- 7:31going and where we heading. We have trust and faith in the
- 7:35existence of it and the pleasantness of the journey and
- 7:40the certainty of the joy that we will experience when we get
- 7:44there. But even for believers, there's
- 7:47probably a part of many of us that there's a little bit of
- 7:52trepidation involved, even though we truly believe it's
- 7:54going to be great and wonderful and joyful and blissful.
- 7:58Probably that little piece of you that has that.
- 8:02Feeling of hesitancy or uncertainty is based on the fact
- 8:07that is completely and totally outside of your control.
- 8:11And that's one of the things that as human beings.
- 8:13We innately desire and crave. Control consistency, safety
- 8:20security. These are the kinds of things
- 8:24that we long for now. I don't know if this is hard and
- 8:29fast science, but you've probably heard this before, that
- 8:34human beings are born with only two innate fears.
- 8:37That's the fear of loud noises and the fear of falling.
- 8:41Every other fear that we have. We develop our we And that's
- 8:47what psychologists tell us. And I want to think about
- 8:50falling just for a moment and how it plays into this idea that
- 8:55God has planted within us. These inherent desires that we
- 8:59have that we share as human beings and most of us have
- 9:05experienced falling. Hopefully not a great distance,
- 9:08but most of us have experienced falling at some point or another
- 9:11and whether that experience of falling lasted for half a second
- 9:15or a few. Ins, you know what?
- 9:18You were yielding when you're in the process of falling, you were
- 9:22yielding, your control, your yielding, your stability, your
- 9:27yielding, potentially your safety, your yielding, your
- 9:31security. And so falling is no fun for us
- 9:35because we are losing many of those things that we desire That
- 9:40We crave. So they say that we are born
- 9:42with that a born. We are born with a fear of
- 9:45falling because As we're born, I believe with these inherent
- 9:50trays, given to us by God Where We crave, we desire, stability,
- 9:55safety security. And when those things have been
- 9:58breached even as a newborn baby, there's a fear of falling
- 10:02because all of a sudden, there's not even a conscious
- 10:05understanding of it, but there's an inherent innate, fear of this
- 10:08experience. Because while falling, we have
- 10:12none of these things we have, no safety.
- 10:15No, OT, we have no stability. We have no control.
- 10:21How does God provide these inherent desires for us.
- 10:27How does he fulfill these things?
- 10:29On our wish list for us? Look at the ways he provides for
- 10:34us. Consistency and reliability.
- 10:38Don't We crave consistency and reliability in both the things
- 10:42that we use and the people we interact with on a daily basis.
- 10:46Don't We crave those things MIT, don't you, crave being able to
- 10:50get in your car, to go, to work in the morning and you have a
- 10:53desire that it cranks up with no issues, no, hesitation, and gets
- 10:59you where you're going to go. You like that, reliability, that
- 11:01stability. And if your vehicle is acting
- 11:05erratically, or if that service engine light is on, you don't
- 11:08know what's going on. Doesn't it?
- 11:09Cause a little concern? Okay, what's going on here?
- 11:12Why is my car not acting as reliable as it?
- 11:16Generally, does, We crave reliability, and consistency,
- 11:22and God provides that for us. James 1 verse 17 says every good
- 11:27gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from
- 11:30the Father of Lights in whom. There is no variation.
- 11:34Neither shadow of turning that Greek word that is translated
- 11:37variation. It literally means there is no
- 11:39change or mutation. God does not change.
- 11:43That's what we learn over and Over in scripture in Hebrews,
- 11:4713:8 Jesus Christ. The same yesterday today and
- 11:51forever. Malachi 3.
- 11:52And verse 6. I am the Lord.
- 11:55God, says the prophet Malachi. I do not change.
- 11:59God is reliable. God is consistent.
- 12:04He does not change with the times.
- 12:08He does not act erratically based on a disposition or a
- 12:12change in mood or a change in Attitude.
- 12:13God, never wakes up on the wrong side of the bed.
- 12:18God never acts in such a way where we wonder?
- 12:20OK. How is he going to be today?
- 12:23Do I need to be careful When approaching his throne of grace
- 12:26and mercy. Today?
- 12:26Is he not having a good day? Is he having a bad day?
- 12:30We don't have to worry about those things with God.
- 12:32Do we? Because with him, there is no
- 12:34variation. When our relationship with God
- 12:37changes, when our relationship with God has Ebbs.
- 12:40And flows is not because God has gone anywhere.
- 12:43It's because we have In order to illustrate, let's illustrate it.
- 12:47As far as the Earth's relationship to the sun is
- 12:49concerned, when the sun is always just there.
- 12:53It is there and just just a little sod fact, a lot of you
- 12:58probably know this when you think about the enormity of the
- 13:00sun, if you imagine the Sun as a gumball machine and the Earth is
- 13:04a gumball. Do you know how many Earth
- 13:07gumballs can fit inside the sun gumball machine?
- 13:11A million million earth-sized gumballs can fit inside a son,
- 13:16sighs, gumball machine. And so you've got this enormous
- 13:21powerful sun and it's there. The Earth relationship with this
- 13:26sun changes, doesn't it? We're experiencing some Colder.
- 13:29Weather than we experience a few months ago.
- 13:31Why? Because where we are on the
- 13:33earth. Our relationship with the sun
- 13:35has been altered. There's a variance.
- 13:38There's a variance in the tilting of the earth.
- 13:40There is a variance in how the Earth is in relation to the sun.
- 13:45The change has not come from the Sun.
- 13:49The changes come from the earth, when our relationship with the
- 13:53Lord, goes through abs and flows highs and lows.
- 13:56The Lord is like the sun. He's not going anywhere.
- 14:00He's not changed. He is steadfast and unmovable.
- 14:07And so the highs and lows that we experience in our walk with
- 14:09Christ is based on how we're over here spinning around.
- 14:15And varying, our level of commitment, our relationship,
- 14:18our interaction with the Lord does not change one of the great
- 14:22takeaways and Luke chapter 15. The parable of the prodigal son.
- 14:27We do a lot of times when we read through that great Parable.
- 14:31We focus on the prodigal son, and there needs to be a lot of
- 14:34focus on him. We focus on the Sun that stayed
- 14:36home and there needs to be at times some study and some focus
- 14:39on him, but there needs to be some reflection on what Jesus is
- 14:44trying to get us to take. from the role of the Father, the
- 14:47father who represents God and in Luke chapter 15 verse 20 and The
- 14:53Prodigal Son arose and came to his father.
- 14:58Do you read anywhere in this Parable, where the sun was
- 15:02worried about whether or not, his father would be home when he
- 15:05got there. Does it say anywhere in that
- 15:08Parable, where he, when he came to himself?
- 15:10He thinks well, I sure hope dad hasn't moved.
- 15:15I sure hope he's not taking a job.
- 15:19Two Villages over and is not there anymore.
- 15:25He never had any reservation in his mind about the fact as to
- 15:30whether or not the father was going to be there.
- 15:32And do you know where the father was?
- 15:34When the Prodigal Son came to himself, we returned home.
- 15:38He was exactly where he was when he left.
- 15:43One of the big takeaways from the parable of the Prodigal Son,
- 15:45as the fact that the relationship between the Sun and
- 15:47the father changed. And it had nothing to do with
- 15:50the father because the father never went anywhere.
- 15:53Steadfast unmovable the sun chose to be at home, chose to
- 15:59leave home chose to come back home the whole time.
- 16:02He's doing this the father's right here.
- 16:06He provides for us to bility. Reliability, consistency.
- 16:13God provides the need that we have the inherent desire that we
- 16:17have as human beings for Safety and Security Proverbs 29:25.
- 16:23The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord
- 16:28shall be safe. Now.
- 16:29Does this mean that no physical harm will ever.
- 16:31Come our way is as Christians. But that, which is ultimately
- 16:37important that part of us that will live eternally.
- 16:41We know this body is going to Decay and it's going to die and
- 16:45it's going to return to the dust of the earth.
- 16:48If the Lord tarries, we know that this body has a shelf life,
- 16:53our soul that part that lives eternally, cannot be touched by
- 16:58anything that man can do to us. That's why Jesus in Matthew 10
- 17:01verse 28, said fear, not them, that kill the body but cannot
- 17:04kill the soul. There's Thing that man can do to
- 17:08hurt our soul in any shape form or fashion.
- 17:11So yes, our physical body may experience harm even as a
- 17:15follower of Christ, but what is most important that part of us,
- 17:19that is eternal, that part of us, that really makes us who we
- 17:22are. Our Essence, our soul.
- 17:24Our spirit is safe in the arms of Jesus.
- 17:28Nothing can happen to it from an external source.
- 17:33Matthew chapter 23 verse 37. How often Jesus is weeping over
- 17:37Jerusalem. How often would I have gathered
- 17:40your children together as a hen gathers her chickens under her
- 17:44wings? Jesus says he's weeping over
- 17:47Jerusalem. He's thinking about 40 years
- 17:49into the future when it would be destroyed by the Romans in ad
- 17:5370. Jesus did not want that to
- 17:55happen. He did not want some who were
- 17:58alive at the time. Of that.
- 18:03Statement that he made in that great chapter, knowing that
- 18:07there were some Jews who were alive, right?
- 18:10Then, who would experience the Calamity and the disaster that
- 18:12was coming to Jerusalem in ad. 70.
- 18:14Jesus weeping over that City and says how many times I wanted to
- 18:18offer you safety protection security.
- 18:23I wanted to gather you to myself like a chicken gathers.
- 18:27Her like a hen gathers, her chickens under her wings.
- 18:33By the way, if you ever talking about talking to someone who
- 18:36believes that, we do not present possess free will get them to
- 18:39explain this passage to you. Where Jesus is Will was to
- 18:44protect Jerusalem. Jerusalem's will was not to
- 18:48accept his offer protection and he's weeping over the fact that
- 18:53of what's going to happen to them.
- 18:54How can you believe that? We have no free will if if Jesus
- 18:58is Will was to save Jerusalem and their will was not to be
- 19:02protected by him and Jesus allowed the Calamity that he
- 19:05didn't want to have happen happen.
- 19:09Jesus wants to provide for US security and safety John chapter
- 19:1410. Of course you remember that
- 19:15great chapter. There's a lot of discussion
- 19:18almost from the beginning of the chapter through verse 29 of
- 19:21Jesus being the shepherd and we being his sheep towards the end
- 19:27of that discussion. In that chapter.
- 19:30We have Jesus saying my sheep hear my voice.
- 19:33Beginning in verse 20, 27 of John chapter 10, and I know
- 19:37them, and they follow me. I give unto them eternal life
- 19:41and no man can snatch them out of my hand.
- 19:43My father who gave them to me, is greater than all, and no man
- 19:47can snatch them. Out of my father's hand.
- 19:50Jesus offers us safety protection again, that doesn't
- 19:56mean that we'll never experience some kind of physical harm in
- 20:00this life even as a follower of Jesus Christ, but what is
- 20:02ultimately important, the safety of our soul, And the protection
- 20:08of what makes us who we are and the protection of what about us
- 20:12will live for all of eternity. That is safe, with Jesus.
- 20:17That's why Psalm 23 is such a comfort.
- 20:20That's why it's red. So many times at graveside
- 20:23services and funeral services. Because this Psalm captures so
- 20:31many of our inherent needs and desires.
- 20:34The need that we have, the desire that we have for safety
- 20:38for protection, for stability, for comfort for security.
- 20:43All those things are pictured. The Lord is my shepherd.
- 20:46I shall not want in other words. There's nothing I'm going to be
- 20:49without. There's nothing that I'm going
- 20:51to do without because the Lord is my shepherd.
- 20:55He leadeth me beside the Still Waters.
- 20:59Leads me to those Green Pastures.
- 21:01He restores my soul. All those things at Psalm 23
- 21:06talks about they appealed to us. Because they speak to our basic
- 21:14inherent needs. And God is willing to provide
- 21:19those for us. But, you know, we're capable of
- 21:24if we're walking in the light, if we're submitting to Christ
- 21:28and doing what he's calling us to do for our families, for our
- 21:32friends, for our fellow man. We can provide these things for
- 21:35one, another as well. Can't we what a great blessing
- 21:39if we can provide for our spouse stability.
- 21:44To provide for our spouse consistency to bribe her provide
- 21:48for our spouse. I am someone that you can depend
- 21:51on, you don't have to worry about what I'm up to.
- 21:54You don't have to worry about whether I'm going to be there
- 21:57for you or not in the good times and the bad I'm providing for
- 22:00you stability security, consistency.
- 22:06Oh man. What a blessing that is if we
- 22:08can provide that for our spouse or spouse can provide that for
- 22:12us. What a blessing.
- 22:14It is to provide that level of friendship to another person
- 22:18where this person knows. And I know you value.
- 22:21If you've got a friend like that in your life, that you know,
- 22:23that you can call on them at any time and they're going to be for
- 22:25you. They're going to be a rock for
- 22:27you. This rock of stability, this
- 22:30rock of consistency. We if you have people like that
- 22:33in your life, you know, there's no price tag, you can put on a
- 22:36person like that. It is a value above gold and
- 22:41silver because it fulfills this inherent desire to have
- 22:46something someone that we can count on that.
- 22:49We can rely upon as Christians aren't, isn't that what we're
- 22:52called to be for one another. Is to be that rock that go-to
- 22:57person that that person is going to be there when we need him or
- 23:01her. And we're providing that same
- 23:03level of Devotion to that person in return.
- 23:08We have the ability to provide, that's what the church is
- 23:11supposed to be. That's the way the church is
- 23:12designed to be. As a shelter from the storms of
- 23:17life. The world is going to treat us,
- 23:20unfairly. More often than not.
- 23:25Many of us, many of us have jobs that you don't know if that job
- 23:29is going to be there one day to the next.
- 23:32You don't know if that contracts going to be renewed.
- 23:34You don't know if that business is going to be there a year from
- 23:37now you have instability in the workplace.
- 23:39You have instability. We have instability in so many
- 23:43areas of our life. What the church, the way the
- 23:45church is design is it's designed to provide for us to
- 23:49place. That is stable.
- 23:52That is consistent. That provides for US, security.
- 23:58Consistency. Now, let's look at one more.
- 24:02One more of our inherent desires that we have as human beings.
- 24:07We desire significance. It's a common trait that we have
- 24:13as human beings. We desire significance.
- 24:20We need to be needed. We need to be wanted.
- 24:26We need to feel special. We crave validation recognition.
- 24:35We crave these things, those that have studied people who
- 24:41give up and almost will themselves.
- 24:45To die to leave this world. One of the things that fuels
- 24:49that emotion, where I'm just, I'm ready to go.
- 24:53I'm giving up its people who feel like they have no more
- 24:57value to those around them. Because We crave usefulness, We
- 25:04crave value, We crave being needed by someone else.
- 25:09We crave being wanted by someone else.
- 25:12These are Universal feelings and emotions that we share.
- 25:17Let me share with you and you may know the story of this
- 25:20individual Robert Hansen. He is known as the most damaging
- 25:25spy in the history of the FBI. He was sentenced to life without
- 25:29parole back into 1001 for crimes that he committed against this
- 25:33country, through spying giving it was selling secrets to
- 25:37Russia. In particular.
- 25:40I think he gets one hour per day outside of his cell.
- 25:45Since 2001. He's been spending 23 or 24
- 25:48hours of every day in solitary confinement and a federal prison
- 25:53in Colorado. There was a movie that was done.
- 25:57If you want to watch you want to watch it through video.
- 26:00There's a couple of words, I think and various places in the
- 26:03movie that tells the story of this man.
- 26:07And usually, when you're talking about something like this, a lot
- 26:12of what you're trying to do is figure out the why why this
- 26:17person was so accomplished. Had this very great and
- 26:22important job. He was working in a department
- 26:26that's supposed to protect the country.
- 26:27Why did he start the in selling secrets to our enemies?
- 26:30Much. So that some of our agents were
- 26:33murdered as a result of secrets that he sold there are some who
- 26:37say that Osama Bin Laden use some of the secrets that he sold
- 26:40to Russia and some of the terrorist acts.
- 26:41He committed against this country.
- 26:43Why would someone do this to his own countrymen to his own
- 26:48country? And there's a scene in the movie
- 26:52that believe this is when they tried to capture the Inner, Man,
- 26:57and try to figure out. Why did you do what you did the
- 27:01FBI hired? This young up-and-coming agent
- 27:05to basically work as the one who would get the evidence needed to
- 27:11bring him down. He was suspected of spying years
- 27:14before he was actually arrested. And so anyway, the young agent
- 27:17that had been hired by the FBI. This is your job is try to help.
- 27:21Get the evidence. We need to.
- 27:22Finally bring this man to Justice.
- 27:24There's a conversation that they're having in the movie
- 27:26where the Young Bucks says to mr.
- 27:30Hanson. You don't matter that much and
- 27:33then he goes on to say a few more things.
- 27:38And Hansen never responds to any of the other things that he
- 27:42says, but his only response to this diatribe, this young man
- 27:46goes on, is he says, I matter, plenty.
- 27:52And what they believed was the primary motivating factor for
- 27:56Robert Hansen doing what he did is he believed he did not get
- 27:59the recognition within the FBI that he felt he deserved.
- 28:03He considered himself to be smarter sharper than most of the
- 28:07ones that he was working with. He lacked a few of the social
- 28:10skills that enabled him to move up the ranks like he could have
- 28:13based on his skill set. And so, he was overlooked for
- 28:17certain promotion, certain positions.
- 28:20He was sometimes made Phone off because of his social
- 28:24awkwardness and and he knew there were some nicknames that
- 28:28people had come up with about him, that were little
- 28:30disparaging that they'd use behind his back is.
- 28:32So it is believed though. He's not talked extensively
- 28:36about the, why it is believed based on those who did know him.
- 28:39I believe he was fueled by this idea that he was not getting the
- 28:43recognition. That he felt he deserved.
- 28:48He was not given the level of significance, the level of
- 28:51status. He wasn't valued in the way that
- 28:54he believed. He should be valued.
- 28:56In fact, those who have studied Benedict Arnold and the why
- 29:00behind why he did what he did have come to the same
- 29:04conclusion. That it was an individual, who
- 29:06felt like he had been slighted. He felt that he was more
- 29:09accomplished. He had more ability than many of
- 29:12his counterparts, and he had been looked over for certain
- 29:14promotions and their slights that he had endured in his.
- 29:19Military career, that field him to decide to team up with
- 29:24Britain and attempt to turn West Point over.
- 29:31To England because he felt like he was not being valued.
- 29:38We crave. We crave this inherent desire as
- 29:42human beings to be wanted to be needed to have some level.
- 29:47It's not a pride thing. It's not that we feel that we're
- 29:52better than anybody else. It's just an innate desire given
- 29:54to us, by God, to want to matter.
- 29:59In someone else's life. What does God do for us?
- 30:05John 3:16 for God. So, loved take out the world for
- 30:10a moment and insert your name. Brother Cliff.
- 30:15I think you've done that before in a devotional, that you've
- 30:18done, where you've taken General pronouns, or broad pronouns and
- 30:22inserted. As a way of illustrating to us,
- 30:26this is the Lord speaking, not just to an entire group, but the
- 30:32Lord speaking to you speaking to me for God.
- 30:34So loved insert your name there. That he gave his only begotten
- 30:41son. Revelation 3:20, behold, I stand
- 30:45at the door and knock and if at least 5,000 people will come to
- 30:50the door. I'll come in and dine with them
- 30:53and they with me. Does God set a minimum number on
- 30:58how many people need to answer the door before he's willing to
- 31:00take the time to go in and spend some time with whoever's inside?
- 31:05You know, there are certain musicians who will only go to
- 31:11certain sized venues. If the venue is below a certain
- 31:16seating capacity. They want, they won't take the
- 31:19time to perform their there has to be a minimum of X number of
- 31:24seats for certain musical artists before they're willing
- 31:28to commit to perform, their Jesus does not have that same
- 31:31kind of requirement. That all for that he is giving.
- 31:35Yes. It's an offer that is being
- 31:36given to everyone but it's also an all for this being given to
- 31:42anyone. Behold, I stand at the door and
- 31:46knock. If anyone hears my voice and
- 31:49opens the door. I will come into him and eat
- 31:52with him and he with me. Yes.
- 31:56This is an offer being given to the whole world, but it's also
- 31:58an over being given to you. You singularly.
- 32:05Me singularly. Jesus is assigning value to us
- 32:10where he is the creator of the universe.
- 32:13And yet, he is offering to spend time, just with you, if you want
- 32:19to get into the mind of Jesus. One of my favorite passages in
- 32:23Scripture. Is Luke 23 on the greatest day
- 32:29of all human history. The day Jesus rose from the
- 32:34grave? And if we're in Jesus's shoes,
- 32:39water we doing. But what did Jesus do on the
- 32:45most important day of the history of the existence of the
- 32:50world? Is he going right into the
- 32:54middle of the temple to show himself to anybody, and
- 32:57everybody? Who was there?
- 32:57As he going to the middle of the meeting of the Pharisees and
- 33:02say, what are you going to do now?
- 33:03Here? I am.
- 33:04Does he go to the highest mountain and draw thousands to
- 33:07him? Do you know what?
- 33:08He spends a significant bulk of that day doing with to do?
- 33:13Sciples walking 7 miles one way to Emmaus.
- 33:18Is that not amazing? Jesus has risen from the grave
- 33:24greatest day ever. And here he is spending a
- 33:29significant bulk of that day walking with two men.
- 33:36That's the kind of Jesus, we serve where he attaches value to
- 33:41us. Not as a group.
- 33:44He attaches value to us individually.
- 33:53In the same way, Luke 15 and verse 10.
- 33:55I tell you there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of
- 33:58God over one sinner. Who repents?
- 34:03Did the Angels, wait for Jesus? Okay, Jesus.
- 34:06Okay. We just hit number one hundred,
- 34:07we can all clap. Now.
- 34:09If you ever been to a graduation where they say, hold your
- 34:12applause until every name has been called and we got 400
- 34:15people to go across the stage. We can't be clapping for
- 34:17everybody. Does Jesus in the throne room of
- 34:22God? Say we just hit 100 everybody?
- 34:25Let's make some noise. There is rejoicing in heaven
- 34:30over one sinner. Who repents have you ever
- 34:34thought about the fact that when you obey the gospel, when you
- 34:38were baptized into Jesus Christ? It initiated an emotional
- 34:43response in the throne room of God.
- 34:48That's the value that he places on us, Revelation chapter 3 and
- 34:52verse 5. The one who conquers.
- 34:54Yes. Again.
- 34:55This is a statement that applies that is applicable globally.
- 35:00Everyone can be a part of this, but it's also individual.
- 35:03The one who conquers will be clothed, in, white garments.
- 35:06And I will never blot his name out of the book of life.
- 35:09I will confess his name before my father and before his angels.
- 35:17Have you done what you need to do to enable Jesus?
- 35:20To be able to say your name. Confess your name before the
- 35:24father. If you're not a child of God
- 35:28become one this morning, there may be someone here.
- 35:32This morning who you have had a horrible experience up to this
- 35:36point in your life. You have not experienced any
- 35:38kind of stability, consistency. Love support value.
- 35:44You've not received that from your parents.
- 35:47You not receive that from Friends, coworkers.
- 35:52God is waiting to give you everything that you inherently
- 35:55crave. Do you want to feel valued?
- 35:59You want to feel loved? Do you want to feel needed and
- 36:04wanted? Become a child of God by faith.
- 36:08Repent of your sins confessing Jesus Christ is Lord being
- 36:10baptized into Christ, having those sins washed away coming
- 36:14out of that, water New Creation, ready to walk in newness of
- 36:17Life. You've done that, but you need
- 36:19to come back home, come back to your first love.
- 36:22Let's pray within for you. If we can encourage you in any
- 36:24way, please come as together. We stand in the same.
