Latest / FPL Pod / S8 Ep8: FPL Pod: Teams to target as FPL returns
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: One more pod before football returns. Jewels rounds up the
- 0:04Speaker 1: international games. We ponder what to do with Bill as
- 0:07Speaker 1: nice fixtures but lack of form. And yes, I'm still
- 0:09Speaker 1: hovering over that transfer for Jack Greenish. Hi guys, welcome
- 0:18Speaker 1: back to the FPL pod. Kelly, Sam and Jewels back
- 0:21Speaker 1: with you. And if you're watching on YouTube, let's address
- 0:24Speaker 1: the elephant in the room. We're only what four or
- 0:26Speaker 1: five weeks into the season. If that, we've already had
- 0:29Speaker 1: Sam Bomfield recording from a car today, dundun don over
- 0:33Speaker 1: to you, Jewels, explain yourself.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 0:36Speaker 3: I just thought, because of the true strike, I had
- 0:39Speaker 3: to drive in to work today and thought leaving early
- 0:42Speaker 3: would be okay to arrive on time.
- 0:44Speaker 2: To start to record the show in a proper studio.
- 0:46Speaker 2: But it didn't.
- 0:47Speaker 3: So I'm literally on the Tesco car park somewhere in
- 0:52Speaker 3: kind of central London with the laptop on my lap
- 0:55Speaker 3: and the mic in my hands. So but already to go.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I've got my nose, I've got my notepad all that.
- 1:00Speaker 1: My favorite thing is the fact that just before we recorded,
- 1:02Speaker 1: he was like, people are walking past and looking at me,
- 1:04Speaker 1: because some at least when you did it. I think
- 1:06Speaker 1: you were away from other people, whereas Jews is in
- 1:08Speaker 1: a busy shopping a supermarket car park.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yeah, at least I was in the hotel car park
- 1:13Speaker 4: where there wasn't really many people around, so it was fine.
- 1:16Speaker 1: But yeah, good luck tolls anyway. Anyway, let's move on,
- 1:19Speaker 1: let's get Toels out of that car park asap. And
- 1:21Speaker 1: it feels like it's quite a big week this game
- 1:23Speaker 1: week because despite there being no Premier League football last
- 1:26Speaker 1: weekend and this being our second pod kind of previewing
- 1:29Speaker 1: the next game week, there are currently five hundred and
- 1:31Speaker 1: forty seven thousand wild cards active. That's as of Thursday
- 1:35Speaker 1: morning at eight am, so I'm sure by the deadline
- 1:37Speaker 1: it is only going to rise. So lots of people
- 1:40Speaker 1: probably listening to this needing plenty of help picking their teams.
- 1:43Speaker 1: We will do our very best. And before we go
- 1:45Speaker 1: any further, Sam, I'm sorry we're not going to hear
- 1:47Speaker 1: from you for a bit because I'm just going to
- 1:49Speaker 1: let this man take it away with his international ground up.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Because loads of things happen. Guys, you're not doing this
- 1:54Speaker 3: international breakfaw for prom edic players. I mean a lot
- 1:57Speaker 3: of it was really good like Earning Highland scoring five
- 2:00Speaker 3: goals against Moldova and two assists. Michel Marino also scoring
- 2:05Speaker 3: a hat trick with Spain in a midfield position or
- 2:07Speaker 3: in a striking position, but still good to know if
- 2:09Speaker 3: you Michael Atta and Asal Fan. We saw Martinodegado also
- 2:13Speaker 3: doing well with norwhere playing.
- 2:16Speaker 2: One full game and one half of them.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Mosala played with Egypt the two games scored in the
- 2:20Speaker 3: first one against Ethiopia. Two games for Bruno Fernandez as
- 2:24Speaker 3: well nineteen minutes and sixty six minutes than I do
- 2:26Speaker 3: Silva scored.
- 2:27Speaker 2: We had all the English boys were you must have been.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Happy doing quite well, Declan Rice, but Madueke scoring, Gehy
- 2:33Speaker 3: scoring concert scoring, Ellio Anderson being a bit of the
- 2:37Speaker 3: starle over the two games against Andorra and Serbia. We
- 2:40Speaker 3: had the first minutes of Alexander Issac this season, who
- 2:42Speaker 3: played eighteen minutes with Sweden against prosovo Or Mama Mush
- 2:46Speaker 3: played with Egypt, played well and then got injured at
- 2:49Speaker 3: the start of the second game.
- 2:51Speaker 2: We had all the South.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Americans who did kind of okay, but most importantly for us,
- 2:56Speaker 3: the likes of Joe Pedro Estevao Gabriel, Pakeeta or Martinelli
- 3:01Speaker 3: will come back Quilight as often from South America and
- 3:05Speaker 3: the qualifiers, So a lot of things happen for our
- 3:08Speaker 3: promitedy crosuring this national break.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And thanks Jules, you can go and you can leave
- 3:12Speaker 1: the car part that was brilliant, I think. Firstly, credit
- 3:16Speaker 1: to England Jewels. That was almost the most complimentary thing
- 3:18Speaker 1: you've said about them, because that they weren't bad. But
- 3:21Speaker 1: this is not the podcast to talk about that. Firstly,
- 3:23Speaker 1: the South American players, that is what worries me a
- 3:25Speaker 1: little bit.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Yeah, it's always a risk, isn't it when we have
- 3:28Speaker 4: an international break with the Matrons.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you always feel a little bit risky.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I mean I maybe feel a little bit better about
- 3:35Speaker 4: it given the injury to Liam de Lapp and the
- 3:37Speaker 4: fact that Chelsea are a little bit short anyway up top,
- 3:40Speaker 4: so maybe that means he's more likely to just continue playing.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Not that an injury to another player should make you
- 3:46Speaker 4: feel more comforta about the player that you have, but
- 3:48Speaker 4: it weirdly does, doesn't it, because it does feel like
- 3:51Speaker 4: he's their best option.
- 3:52Speaker 1: In particulars. We don't really know what's happening with col Palmer.
- 3:55Speaker 4: At the moment they want to lose too many of
- 3:57Speaker 4: their important assets going through so I'm hopeful for him.
- 4:00Speaker 4: It kind of makes me a little bit more weary
- 4:03Speaker 4: with the captain's armband, I guess because he's definitely one
- 4:05Speaker 4: of the captains the options for this week, given the
- 4:07Speaker 4: fixture in the form that he's been in, but maybe
- 4:10Speaker 4: his minutes over the international break and the travel and
- 4:12Speaker 4: everything else just makes it a little bit of a
- 4:15Speaker 4: pause for thought there.
- 4:17Speaker 1: As for Esach, I mean, it was only eighteen minutes,
- 4:19Speaker 1: not even twenty minutes, and lots of people are bringing
- 4:22Speaker 1: him in. It feels like we still need to wait
- 4:24Speaker 1: another week tools what do you think?
- 4:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so we need to hear from Slot already.
- 4:28Speaker 3: We saw him at the training ground yesterday. He sat
- 4:30Speaker 3: at the training ground yesterday for the for the first
- 4:32Speaker 3: time really as as a Liverpool player, you know, with
- 4:35Speaker 3: his washbag and going ready to go in the gym
- 4:38Speaker 3: or you know, do some fitness with what, you know,
- 4:39Speaker 3: whatever he really did over those two days because his
- 4:42Speaker 3: Thursday Friday and then that's it. The weekend is there
- 4:45Speaker 3: and then and Liverpool obviously will play.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So it feels a fit a bit early because.
- 4:51Speaker 3: We just don't know what his role will be, might
- 4:54Speaker 3: not even be in the Liverpool squad for all we know.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Had his first gap for France, didn't touch the body,
- 5:00Speaker 3: played thirty seconds. Love him, but still is there, you know,
- 5:03Speaker 3: forever he's there. This is the first gap. But you
- 5:05Speaker 3: would think that from an honest lot point of view,
- 5:08Speaker 3: if he's quite rush to have had he's like two
- 5:11Speaker 3: days with you are training and then bring him in
- 5:13Speaker 3: into the team and just changing everything already. So I
- 5:16Speaker 3: don't think he will start anywhere. He might be in
- 5:18Speaker 3: the squad, but even if he is in the squad,
- 5:20Speaker 3: he might not get any minutes or maybe just a
- 5:23Speaker 3: few minutes, and I don't think he's worth taking that
- 5:25Speaker 3: risk for now.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Anything else you want to point out from the internationals
- 5:27Speaker 1: that court your isam. In terms of FPL, there was.
- 5:29Speaker 4: A lot of upset Anderson fans because altho they played
- 5:31Speaker 4: very well for England. He picked up nineteen defensive contributions
- 5:35Speaker 4: in that game, whereas he's only managed eleven in the
- 5:38Speaker 4: opening three, like eleven.
- 5:39Speaker 1: In each of them. He was brilliant, wasn't he so
- 5:41Speaker 1: so good?
- 5:42Speaker 4: But I think it does prove a point, doesn't it
- 5:43Speaker 4: because over the last three game weeks and Ason owners
- 5:45Speaker 4: have been a bit frustrated because he's not picked up
- 5:48Speaker 4: the Deaf compoints, missing out by one each time. So
- 5:50Speaker 4: to see him then go and rack up nineteen for
- 5:52Speaker 4: England in the opening game of the international break was
- 5:54Speaker 4: a little maybe a little bit frustrating for his owners,
- 5:57Speaker 4: But I think it does prove that, you know, he
- 5:59Speaker 4: is like Clee to still do that. I mean, the
- 6:03Speaker 4: situation of Forest is kind of interesting as well, though.
- 6:05Speaker 4: I guess we need to kind of consider what happens now,
- 6:08Speaker 4: new manager, different style of football potentially what does that
- 6:11Speaker 4: mean for our defensive assets there. So there is a
- 6:13Speaker 4: lot to consider over the international break growth in terms
- 6:15Speaker 4: of the players, and also the personnel changes are not
- 6:18Speaker 4: in Forest.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you make of the posta Coglu appointment there, Jules,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Because a lot of people have been saying it's a
- 6:24Speaker 1: very different style, but then a few people have jumped
- 6:26Speaker 1: in and said, well he did kind of change his
- 6:28Speaker 1: style to help them win the Europa League. Sam, I mean,
- 6:30Speaker 1: Sam's smiling will come on to her thoughts on that
- 6:32Speaker 1: in a minute as well.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's very exciting to have and back
- 6:36Speaker 3: for us as well for the league. I think because
- 6:38Speaker 3: of the football that he wants his teams to play,
- 6:42Speaker 3: and we saw that. I suppose it was very entertaining
- 6:44Speaker 3: unless you were supposed fans, obviously, but for me and
- 6:48Speaker 3: Forrest's strength and then Nuno and again it's not because
- 6:52Speaker 3: they were very good defensively, very well organized that they
- 6:55Speaker 3: can't play in a different way toward the lacks of
- 6:57Speaker 3: million Kovich and Morio and Civily especially, But it's still
- 7:02Speaker 3: very different to what Enge will do or wants to
- 7:06Speaker 3: do usually. I don't believe he can change his style
- 7:10Speaker 3: so drastically that it will go kind of no nowhere
- 7:12Speaker 3: instead of the Engeway, because he said it enough, there's
- 7:15Speaker 3: just one way for him to play. So I think
- 7:17Speaker 3: it will be a bit of a mini revolution a Forest,
- 7:20Speaker 3: which could be good or not so good for us.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Maybe better for attacking assets than for differensive assets. If
- 7:25Speaker 3: you have defenders from Forest in your squad. I think
- 7:28Speaker 3: it's probably better if you have attacking or if you
- 7:30Speaker 3: want to bring attacking Forest players in your team.
- 7:33Speaker 2: But then it'd be quite be quite interesting.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And I'm just they start with the game away at
- 7:37Speaker 3: the MRS against that on which is obviously not easy
- 7:39Speaker 3: one on Saturday lunchtime, but it should be quite interesting
- 7:42Speaker 3: to see what it would be capable to do with
- 7:44Speaker 3: that squad, different squad to the one he had a
- 7:46Speaker 3: spers for sure, and some you brought.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Him more and Gibs why, as Jo said, then this
- 7:50Speaker 1: could be good for your attacking options. Maybe not this weekend,
- 7:53Speaker 1: but yeah, he must be pleased all of a sudden. Yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I mean I traveled up. I was trying to do
- 7:58Speaker 1: some positivity in your team. Hasn't been too many beacons
- 8:01Speaker 1: of light this season.
- 8:03Speaker 4: I'm traveled up on Forest, so at Gibbs White, I'm
- 8:05Speaker 4: actually quite cool with. Yeah, I'm planning to bench in
- 8:08Speaker 4: this week, but then for the games that follow actually
- 8:10Speaker 4: after the Arsenal game, it's really nice fixtures for for Forest,
- 8:13Speaker 4: So yeah, Gibbs White feels like a hold for sure.
- 8:16Speaker 4: I'll just leave them on the bench for this week.
- 8:18Speaker 4: The double up of Marilla and Sales, though I'm not
- 8:21Speaker 4: hugely excited by that. I think you know, I wasn't
- 8:24Speaker 4: excited by that anyway for the Arsenal game. But I
- 8:26Speaker 4: think moving forward, given and his style of play usually,
- 8:30Speaker 4: I think we might see a bit of a difference,
- 8:32Speaker 4: and you know, we saw over the international break that
- 8:35Speaker 4: Malenkovich isn't exactly brilliant at playing against a high line
- 8:39Speaker 4: as we saw for England, so it'll be really interesting to.
- 8:42Speaker 1: See how how it goes.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I think my plan this week is probably to lose
- 8:45Speaker 4: a forest asset though because I'm not I'm not convinced
- 8:48Speaker 4: that defensively they're going to be the right the right
- 8:50Speaker 4: way to go, particularly as they've been frustrating anyway defensively
- 8:52Speaker 4: opening over the opening three weeks, so Marillo probably go
- 8:55Speaker 4: for me, and then I'll definitely be keeping Gibbs white
- 8:58Speaker 4: though for the fixtures that we have move forwards.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Okay, well, moving on. It does feel like we've kind
- 9:02Speaker 1: of been eased into the Premier League season in the
- 9:05Speaker 1: opening weeks because of course there's been the EFL Cup
- 9:07Speaker 1: for some teams, but that's been it. We've been able
- 9:09Speaker 1: to just watch our teams in Premier League actually and
- 9:11Speaker 1: not have to worry about anything else. Well, this is
- 9:13Speaker 1: where the fun begins because between now and the next
- 9:17Speaker 1: international break, which is in i think it's the second
- 9:19Speaker 1: weekend in October, teams will have seven matches to play,
- 9:23Speaker 1: so there are four rounds of Premier League matches, two
- 9:25Speaker 1: Champions League and Europa League matches, Conference League matches and
- 9:29Speaker 1: a round of League Cup matches as well. So yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 1: it's about to get trickier, isn't it. That doesn't mean
- 9:34Speaker 1: that Arsenal Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool City, Newcastle, Forest and Spurs YEP,
- 9:37Speaker 1: for the joy of so many teams getting into Europe,
- 9:39Speaker 1: will all have seven matches between now and the last
- 9:43Speaker 1: week in September, and of course not forgetting Crystal Palace,
- 9:46Speaker 1: they also have six. In contrast, Bournemouth, Leeds, Manchester United,
- 9:51Speaker 1: Sundland and West Ham all play the least amount of
- 9:53Speaker 1: matches with just four Premier League fixtures. That's because they're
- 9:56Speaker 1: out of the League Cup and they aren't in Europe too.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Sam does some brilliant mass in preparation for this pod.
- 10:02Speaker 1: But it is really I mean, you just counted games,
- 10:05Speaker 1: but you know what I mean, it's really something that
- 10:07Speaker 1: we can look at and go, oh, yeah, they look
- 10:09Speaker 1: like they're busier, but actually when you put it down
- 10:11Speaker 1: on paper, Sam, it's a big difference. Sometimes we're almost
- 10:14Speaker 1: playing double the amount of games. Yeah, it's massive, isn't it,
- 10:18Speaker 1: Because if you think about it. For those teams that
- 10:20Speaker 1: you just mentioned, lots the lights of Manchester United, they're
- 10:22Speaker 1: just going to play their Saturday slash Sunday game every
- 10:25Speaker 1: week and they're going to have a whole week of
- 10:26Speaker 1: training leading into it. For the other teams around them,
- 10:29Speaker 1: they've potentially got to play on a Tuesday, Wednesday or
- 10:32Speaker 1: a Thursday, and then they've got to play again at
- 10:34Speaker 1: the weekend, and then they've got to do that the
- 10:35Speaker 1: week after and the week after and the week after.
- 10:37Speaker 1: So actually it does make a big difference, and I think,
- 10:40Speaker 1: you know, sometimes you look at it and you go, wow,
- 10:43Speaker 1: some of the squads are smaller. Maybe we see less rotation,
- 10:45Speaker 1: So maybe that's good for us, because you know, less rotation,
- 10:48Speaker 1: more starts, more minutes. Maybe it's good. But then you
- 10:51Speaker 1: actually think, well, in some ways it can be a
- 10:52Speaker 1: bad thing because it means that they get tired, quicker,
- 10:56Speaker 1: less likely to have the energy that they maybe need
- 10:58Speaker 1: in those matches. So it is definitely something that you
- 11:00Speaker 1: need to consider over the next few weeks is that
- 11:02Speaker 1: this September month is incredibly busy and the players are
- 11:06Speaker 1: going to have a lot of minutes in their legs.
- 11:09Speaker 1: So something to just be mindful of that maybe we
- 11:12Speaker 1: might get some rotation, but also maybe we might get
- 11:15Speaker 1: some tired legs out of our players and therefore not
- 11:17Speaker 1: hit the peak returns in FL that we would hope
- 11:20Speaker 1: for anything. You want to add on that, Joel Mson,
- 11:22Speaker 1: you just agree, yeah, completely, and also pray for me
- 11:25Speaker 1: and some listeners during this because it means that Jewels
- 11:27Speaker 1: is going to be way busy with Champions Leagues the
- 11:31Speaker 1: time might want to train next time.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I just don't know exactly, but I agree with everything.
- 11:35Speaker 3: So some said obviously, I think it's inevitable that there would
- 11:39Speaker 3: be rotation for sure, and that might be just in
- 11:41Speaker 3: the EFL Cup for example, for some of those clubs
- 11:43Speaker 3: that you mentioned kids or more than that, because let's
- 11:46Speaker 3: not forget as well, that is still very early in
- 11:49Speaker 3: the season and you've just finished your kind of preparation
- 11:53Speaker 3: fitness wise for some players, and you can't have them
- 11:56Speaker 3: playing I think seven games in twenty four days more
- 11:58Speaker 3: or less for those kind of teams that that we mentioned,
- 12:01Speaker 3: So you can't take that risk. It's too early in
- 12:04Speaker 3: the season, the players are not ready to play that
- 12:05Speaker 3: much anyway. Maybe a bit later on it would be different,
- 12:09Speaker 3: but for now, It's just like in terms of the
- 12:12Speaker 3: minutes that your players are supposed to be playing right now,
- 12:15Speaker 3: in all that data and planning that all the teams
- 12:17Speaker 3: are doing, especially those top top teams, I don't think
- 12:20Speaker 3: it's possible that their players are playing all seven games full.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Nineteen minutes are close, So just expect the rotation.
- 12:28Speaker 3: It's okay if sometimes somebody is going to might not
- 12:30Speaker 3: start and came on later. Doesn't mean that you need
- 12:33Speaker 3: to get rid of all the players you've got for
- 12:35Speaker 3: all those teams that we mentioned with seven games in
- 12:37Speaker 3: twenty four days, but I think it's inevitable that some
- 12:39Speaker 3: players will get less game time.
- 12:41Speaker 1: It does make Picks and the like support math your
- 12:44Speaker 1: Antoine se Menus players like that, even like Jack really
- 12:46Speaker 1: shit Everton. They're two of the most transferred in players
- 12:48Speaker 1: this week, and you can see why. They've got the
- 12:50Speaker 1: form and they've got the fixtures, but not too many fixtures.
- 12:54Speaker 1: So yeah, you can see why people are maybe now
- 12:56Speaker 1: looking outside of the suppose a big six and those
- 12:59Speaker 1: teams in Europe. Let's take a look at the players
- 13:01Speaker 1: that we should be looking at. I'm sure Grinis and
- 13:03Speaker 1: to Meno are going to be two of those mentioned.
- 13:06Speaker 1: So we're going to specifically focus in on game weeks
- 13:08Speaker 1: four and seven, and as we always do on this podcast,
- 13:11Speaker 1: we're going to use the fixture difficulty rating to kind
- 13:13Speaker 1: of work out who has the best fixtures to help
- 13:16Speaker 1: us guide those picks. And at the top of the
- 13:18Speaker 1: fixture difficulty rating it's Aston, Villa, Tottenham, Leeds Formuth, then
- 13:22Speaker 1: it kind of goes down to Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Fulham
- 13:24Speaker 1: and then we're actually getting down into the teams with
- 13:26Speaker 1: tricky fixtures. Villa though at the top, I mean it's
- 13:30Speaker 1: hard to I'm doubled up on Villa at the moment.
- 13:32Speaker 1: It's hard to encourage any investment, isn't it, Jeles until
- 13:35Speaker 1: we see a little bit more from them.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been a very poor start of the season
- 13:38Speaker 3: from them. The defeat last weekend or sorry, the weekend
- 13:41Speaker 3: before the international break, I think was very difficult and
- 13:44Speaker 3: certainly not expected in that, you know, in that way,
- 13:48Speaker 3: So it was a bad one for all the hopes
- 13:50Speaker 3: we had for a concile Watkins Rogers at the start
- 13:53Speaker 3: of the season, and rightly so, because they obviously have
- 13:55Speaker 3: been very good for the last two years.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Those players have been very good.
- 13:59Speaker 3: We saw Morgan Rogers with the loveliest says for Madueka
- 14:01Speaker 3: for example, in the game against the England game against Serbia,
- 14:04Speaker 3: so that they are still very good players.
- 14:06Speaker 2: It's just not happening for them with Villa so far
- 14:09Speaker 2: this season.
- 14:10Speaker 3: And I think this is a big, big weekend for
- 14:13Speaker 3: Unamor and for Aston Villa to just just forget what
- 14:16Speaker 3: happens in the first three game weeks and start and
- 14:18Speaker 3: your season starts now basically. But they need they need
- 14:21Speaker 3: a resort and I think, yeah, I think is very
- 14:23Speaker 3: important for them to bounce back this weekend.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I'm struggling Zam because I want to unsurprisingly bring in
- 14:29Speaker 1: the two players that I've mentioned. I should have done
- 14:31Speaker 1: it before now because of price rises, but I was
- 14:33Speaker 1: just a bit worried about other injuries in my team,
- 14:34Speaker 1: as I always am over the international break. So I'm
- 14:38Speaker 1: probably going to sell Morgan Rodgers for one of those players.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I thought you played well for England. Oli Watkins, though,
- 14:43Speaker 1: is a problem. I just don't. I don't know whether,
- 14:46Speaker 1: and I think a lot of people will be thinking
- 14:48Speaker 1: about this. I would like I think I'm going to
- 14:49Speaker 1: want to Alexander Esach. I just don't want him for
- 14:52Speaker 1: this week until I've seen a little bit more from him,
- 14:54Speaker 1: So I'm kind of holding that transfer there. But that's
- 14:57Speaker 1: the only reason Oli Watkins is staying in my team ultimately,
- 15:00Speaker 1: because I'm holding that spot. And I think a lot
- 15:02Speaker 1: of people are going to be in the same boat.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Yeah, early the b sac or your careers, when the
- 15:06Speaker 4: arsenal fact is changed, that a lot of people are
- 15:08Speaker 4: looking at for that Watkins spot.
- 15:09Speaker 1: So I don't want to waste the transfer away from Watkins,
- 15:12Speaker 1: but I do want to sell Watkins the players I
- 15:14Speaker 1: want the midfielders basically, and I think that is I'm
- 15:17Speaker 1: kind of summing up how a lot of FPR managers
- 15:19Speaker 1: are feeling.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Are really totally agree and then you look at the
- 15:22Speaker 4: fixtures and you go, okay, well it's Everton and Sunderland
- 15:24Speaker 4: up next before Fulham and Burnley. Like I don't feel
- 15:28Speaker 4: like the fixtures that you should be selling a player
- 15:30Speaker 4: ahead of, like they're nice fixtures, particularly, as you say,
- 15:33Speaker 4: if you're earmarking that position for somebody else two or
- 15:35Speaker 4: three weeks down the line anyway, because then you're just
- 15:38Speaker 4: making a transfer to then transfer that player out again,
- 15:41Speaker 4: which doesn't make a lot of sense and the forward line.
- 15:44Speaker 4: I mean reality is that at the moment the player
- 15:46Speaker 4: that you don't have in the forward line that you
- 15:47Speaker 4: probably want is Harlan and you can't get there because
- 15:50Speaker 4: it's too difficult financially to get from Watkins up. You've
- 15:53Speaker 4: still got to find a significant investment. So I think
- 15:57Speaker 4: most people will end up keeping Oli Watkins because they'll
- 15:59Speaker 4: look at these fictures and go, well, things might improve.
- 16:01Speaker 4: And I do think the signing of Harvey Elliott will
- 16:03Speaker 4: help Olie Watkins.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I think you know he will.
- 16:07Speaker 4: His creativity I think will make a big difference. We
- 16:09Speaker 4: saw how important he can be in the Euros for
- 16:12Speaker 4: the under twenty ones in the summer he was absolutely phenomenal,
- 16:15Speaker 4: won the Player of the tournament in that one. And
- 16:18Speaker 4: actually last season for Liverpool he didn't play many minutes.
- 16:21Speaker 4: I think he got three hundred and seventy in total
- 16:23Speaker 4: over the season, but he created a chance every thirty
- 16:25Speaker 4: seven minutes that he was on the pitch, So good
- 16:28Speaker 4: creativity skills there.
- 16:29Speaker 1: So maybe we will be.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Less reliant on it just always being about Morgan Rodgers
- 16:34Speaker 4: and Oli Watkins. So maybe Harvey Elliott helps Watkins. I
- 16:37Speaker 4: think for me, with the fixtures that we have, I'm
- 16:40Speaker 4: just going to hold him for now because it doesn't
- 16:42Speaker 4: really make a lot of sense for me to go
- 16:44Speaker 4: early on on your careers given the fixtures that they
- 16:47Speaker 4: have in the next couple of weeks after this week.
- 16:49Speaker 4: So I'm going to hold for now. But once he
- 16:51Speaker 4: sack pulls on a Liverpool shirt and starts a game,
- 16:55Speaker 4: it's going to be very hard to stick with Watkins
- 16:58Speaker 4: if he's still not scoring goals.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Do you agree though, Sam, that, like someone like myself
- 17:02Speaker 1: where they've got the double up selling Morgan, it's annoying
- 17:05Speaker 1: because actually a longer term, I think I'd want Morgan
- 17:07Speaker 1: Rodgers more than Ollie Watkins. I think just because of
- 17:09Speaker 1: the price point. But I just don't know how long
- 17:11Speaker 1: I can wait for those returns. I feel like I've
- 17:13Speaker 1: already waited long enough.
- 17:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I get it, And I think the other thing
- 17:16Speaker 4: to say, Kel is that if you sell Morgan Rodgers
- 17:19Speaker 4: this week and you bring in the likes of Semenno
- 17:21Speaker 4: or Grealish or whoever it is, you're probably going to
- 17:25Speaker 4: wild card in the next two, three four weeks anyway.
- 17:29Speaker 1: So probably the next international break.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Yeah, So if we see Okay, so if it's the
- 17:33Speaker 4: next international break, maybe you get four the week before. Yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 4: So if you get to that point, then the reality
- 17:39Speaker 4: is that you can go back like It's not like
- 17:41Speaker 4: selling Morgan Rodgers means that you can never own him
- 17:43Speaker 4: again for the rest of the season. Like you can
- 17:46Speaker 4: go back there at that point if it looks like
- 17:48Speaker 4: it's a mistake or it might be actually that there's
- 17:51Speaker 4: a different way that you want to go about changing
- 17:53Speaker 4: the midfield at that point, because right now Morgan Rodgers
- 17:56Speaker 4: isn't looking like a great pick. But maybe in a
- 17:59Speaker 4: couple of weeks another one of your midfielders that you
- 18:01Speaker 4: can use to get him back in. So I can
- 18:04Speaker 4: totally understand it. I wouldn't want to be carrying the
- 18:06Speaker 4: double up despite the fixtures because of the way that
- 18:08Speaker 4: they've been playing.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Okay, thank you. I love using this podcast for the
- 18:11Speaker 1: benefit of my own transfers. But I don't think I'm
- 18:14Speaker 1: the only person. As I said that there's kind of
- 18:16Speaker 1: been in those books because we all thought that Villa
- 18:18Speaker 1: were going to We're going to start well and they
- 18:20Speaker 1: were really nicely priced assets. Spurs. Then we will come
- 18:23Speaker 1: on to Sam on this of course, but let's go
- 18:25Speaker 1: for the unbiased opinion. First, their fixtures are west Ham
- 18:29Speaker 1: and Brighton at home, followed by Wolves away and Leeds.
- 18:32Speaker 1: And now I've got that the wrong way around. You're
- 18:33Speaker 1: west Ham away, Brighton away, Wolves at home and then
- 18:36Speaker 1: Leads away. They're lovely fixtures, aren't they. Jels. I mean,
- 18:39Speaker 1: I know they're away from home, but they're not bad.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I know you're right, they're not bad. But you
- 18:44Speaker 2: said three away and one at home.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Spurs capable of obviously being very good away a city
- 18:50Speaker 3: and not and then being very terrible at home to
- 18:52Speaker 3: warm with.
- 18:52Speaker 2: For example, I'm watching this on YouTube.
- 18:54Speaker 1: If you're not watching this on YouTube. By the way,
- 18:56Speaker 1: I just got to tell our listeners that listen to
- 18:57Speaker 1: this podcast. Sam Like put her down to look at
- 18:59Speaker 1: some notes, and then as she was started talking about Spurs,
- 19:01Speaker 1: she looked up as if she sang, here we go.
- 19:04Speaker 1: WHI have we gone to the Arsenal fans? You said,
- 19:08Speaker 1: non biased opinion, let's go to the Arsenal fan always
- 19:15Speaker 1: very interrupted, but.
- 19:17Speaker 2: It's the truth.
- 19:17Speaker 3: They were terrible against Boemore, they were very good aware
- 19:20Speaker 3: of city.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Uh, this is what it might be.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I think west Ham aware is not a difficult fixture
- 19:25Speaker 3: for for for Spurs and for Thomas Frank, even if
- 19:29Speaker 3: west Ham obviously had that reaction aware of Forest just
- 19:31Speaker 3: before the international break, but it's still it's still the
- 19:34Speaker 3: west Ham team that has been struggling since the start
- 19:36Speaker 3: of the of the season with grand Potter is still
- 19:38Speaker 3: very much in some sort of pressure, under some sort
- 19:41Speaker 3: of pressure.
- 19:41Speaker 2: So the only thing with Spurs is that I'm not
- 19:45Speaker 2: really sure what to look to look for.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Really, you can go and try to go for a
- 19:50Speaker 3: new signing like column money for example, but again a
- 19:53Speaker 3: bit like for each we just don't know what the
- 19:55Speaker 3: plans for him. From Thomas Frank's point of view, kudos.
- 19:58Speaker 3: I think it was a good idea at the start
- 19:59Speaker 3: of the season and some dribbling looks good, but there's
- 20:03Speaker 3: just no end product there. You know clearly that I
- 20:05Speaker 3: don't think he's had a short on target so far
- 20:07Speaker 3: decision and we played three from matches already, so I'm
- 20:10Speaker 3: not I'm really not sure.
- 20:11Speaker 2: For example, that's true, it's true. I mean there's a
- 20:15Speaker 2: couple of nine.
- 20:16Speaker 1: Now I shouldn't have put him.
- 20:18Speaker 3: No, no, no, but Sam still hasn't because it's because
- 20:21Speaker 3: he wears the right shirts, and that's the only reason,
- 20:23Speaker 3: to be honest, I.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Don't even have that reason. I just bought him in
- 20:26Speaker 1: because I and then I sat so terrible they were.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Yeah, so Brandon Johnson, you know, with Charlie's son so
- 20:34Speaker 2: long key.
- 20:34Speaker 3: There's injuries as well, so I think Spurs it's quite
- 20:37Speaker 3: difficult from an attacking point of Defensively, of course you
- 20:40Speaker 3: can go for Petro Poro Jet spends. By the way,
- 20:42Speaker 3: congratulations to you for your first ingram cab that's a
- 20:44Speaker 3: hell of achievement and that was very good. And Vicario
- 20:47Speaker 3: is doing really well in Gold one of the highest goal.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Keeper in the games.
- 20:50Speaker 3: So there's there's options defensively attacking wise, even with the
- 20:53Speaker 3: good schedule, I'm not sure.
- 20:55Speaker 1: I actually don't like agreeing Withally anyone, but do agree
- 20:58Speaker 1: with him Sam in terms of tough to pick from
- 21:00Speaker 1: the attackers. I don't know why I have vicked Mohammad
- 21:02Speaker 1: Kudis well, I do, but it was a silly decision.
- 21:06Speaker 1: But defensively that like having Poro so far this season
- 21:09Speaker 1: has been brilliant and vander Veno owners have also been brilliant.
- 21:11Speaker 1: There's a lot of people doubled up on that Spurs
- 21:13Speaker 1: defense and looking at those fixtures for the next few
- 21:16Speaker 1: imagine that's not going to change. I mean no, I
- 21:19Speaker 1: think if.
- 21:19Speaker 4: You've got the double up, I don't think i'd feel
- 21:21Speaker 4: comfye having a Spurs defensive double up.
- 21:23Speaker 1: But then that's just me, like we always have it
- 21:25Speaker 1: in us. Me neither neither, but I know people that
- 21:27Speaker 1: do well.
- 21:28Speaker 4: Yeah, and we have only conceded one goal so far
- 21:30Speaker 4: this season, so actually defensively we have been solid. So
- 21:34Speaker 4: but I mean I sort of agree with what George
- 21:36Speaker 4: was saying, like the attack, the attack is difficult right
- 21:39Speaker 4: now to invest in.
- 21:41Speaker 1: I've got Cudis.
- 21:41Speaker 4: There's absolutely no whey I'm going to sell him ahead
- 21:43Speaker 4: of these fixtures though, because there's potential. I mean, look,
- 21:46Speaker 4: the game this week is against his old club, so
- 21:48Speaker 4: there's that element to it as well. He surely wants
- 21:51Speaker 4: to get something in that one. So I'm definitely olden
- 21:53Speaker 4: him for the west Ham game moving forward after that,
- 21:55Speaker 4: Like Brighton's more difficult for sure that that's always a
- 21:58Speaker 4: bit more of a challenging fixture and maybe there's a
- 22:01Speaker 4: look there, but it also gives us a game to
- 22:04Speaker 4: see how the new signings fit in. Where does where
- 22:08Speaker 4: do we see them come in and how does that
- 22:09Speaker 4: impact the way that they're going. Does Brennan hold his
- 22:12Speaker 4: place on the left? Do does perhaps still play in
- 22:14Speaker 4: the ten? One of those is going to be unlikely
- 22:17Speaker 4: to be the case because we're going to have to
- 22:18Speaker 4: finish Tvvy Simmons, so that's going to have an impact, right.
- 22:21Speaker 4: I think it's just important that my advice with Spurs
- 22:24Speaker 4: is hold what you have. I don't think i'd be
- 22:26Speaker 4: investing any further for this week. I'd just keep what
- 22:28Speaker 4: you've got, play them this week and then use this
- 22:31Speaker 4: week as an opportunity to see how Thomas Frank bed's
- 22:33Speaker 4: in the new signings, and then moving forwards. The fixers
- 22:36Speaker 4: do remain nice for Spurs, but we also have to
- 22:38Speaker 4: remember that we're about to start a very you know.
- 22:42Speaker 4: I know we've just been talking about it, but once
- 22:43Speaker 4: the Champions League kicks off, Thomas Frank hasn't done a
- 22:46Speaker 4: European season before last season with Spurs, we did mass
- 22:49Speaker 4: rotation around the Europa League, so these players aren't necessarily
- 22:53Speaker 4: used to playing weekends and midweek and then again and
- 22:57Speaker 4: then again and then again because we were playing very,
- 23:00Speaker 4: very different teams in the Europa League to what we
- 23:02Speaker 4: were playing in the Premier League last season, so it
- 23:05Speaker 4: will be interesting to see how that dynamic plays out.
- 23:08Speaker 4: But hold what you have, I think is my advice
- 23:10Speaker 4: with Spurs and probably don't invest any further.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Just yet, Can we please ban the phrase and again
- 23:15Speaker 1: and again and again on this podcast because that just
- 23:17Speaker 1: reminds me of those cold Palmer goals and the T
- 23:19Speaker 1: shirt you brought me at the end of the season
- 23:23Speaker 1: shows through my spine. I forgot about that. I didn't, sadly. Okay,
- 23:28Speaker 1: so we've addressed the two teams at the top. Then
- 23:30Speaker 1: it's Leeds and Bournemouth. And Bournemouth I mean Leads are
- 23:33Speaker 1: tricky because they're newly promoted side, but Bournemouth in particular,
- 23:36Speaker 1: I mean I mentioned Semeno. They've got Brighton at home,
- 23:39Speaker 1: Newcastle home, leads away Fulham. I'm so three of the
- 23:42Speaker 1: next four are at home and Meno is the obvious.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Any other interest in Bournmouth. I know a lot of
- 23:47Speaker 1: people have been looking at SENESSI Jewels.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yeah, we mentioned I think in last week's show two
- 23:53Speaker 3: defensively now that they look great that maybe during the
- 23:56Speaker 3: preseason we mentioned that as well in our preview shows
- 23:59Speaker 3: and all so at the start of the season, but
- 24:01Speaker 3: things have got much better, which we expected because as
- 24:04Speaker 3: we said, they sold three quarters of the defense for example,
- 24:07Speaker 3: so you have new players Jackie te and Fair for example,
- 24:11Speaker 3: to just integrate and for them to adapt to your
- 24:13Speaker 3: style and to your game.
- 24:15Speaker 2: But then it's just in our lives such.
- 24:18Speaker 3: A good manager that you knew that it would not
- 24:20Speaker 3: take long until this team was good again like they
- 24:22Speaker 3: were last season, and they would be like that. So
- 24:24Speaker 3: Semno Tavenue who signed a new deal by the way,
- 24:26Speaker 3: which is very good.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Good for him.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Evanilson, who's okay, not always i think the most consistent
- 24:33Speaker 3: in terms of returns, but you know that they're going
- 24:36Speaker 3: to create chances for him.
- 24:37Speaker 2: You know he's going to be there.
- 24:39Speaker 3: The goal that sorry against some but the goal is
- 24:41Speaker 3: scored against Spurs was a bit lucky, but at least
- 24:44Speaker 3: you know he was there in the right position and
- 24:47Speaker 3: then they had more chances too. So yeah, I think
- 24:49Speaker 3: I think BOURNMA defensively, offensively, with three home games in
- 24:52Speaker 3: the next four, I think it's a it's a no brainer.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Anything to add on Bomber, Sam, anyone else you're looking at,
- 24:58Speaker 1: or are they just the standouts.
- 25:00Speaker 4: I mean, they're the standouts. Just to follow up on CESSI,
- 25:02Speaker 4: he's also got four defensive contribution points across the game.
- 25:04Speaker 4: He's the most got the most defensive contributions of all
- 25:07Speaker 4: the defenders twenty eight, so he's only missed out twice. Yeah,
- 25:10Speaker 4: so I think you know you are looking at the
- 25:11Speaker 4: potential upside of those as well as the potential for
- 25:14Speaker 4: clean sheets over the fixtures that have coming. And of
- 25:16Speaker 4: all the defenders in the game, he's the highest scoring
- 25:18Speaker 4: apart from Timber, but then Timber is a bit of
- 25:21Speaker 4: an anomaly because of the twenty four pointer that you
- 25:23Speaker 4: picked up in game week two against Leeds. So if
- 25:25Speaker 4: you leave Timber aside, he is the high scoring defender
- 25:28Speaker 4: in the game so far, and I think at the
- 25:30Speaker 4: price point with the fixtures, he really does look like
- 25:33Speaker 4: a fantastic option. And then Semeno top for chances across
- 25:37Speaker 4: the midfielders in the game with seven for chances. And
- 25:40Speaker 4: then he's also got create five chances for his teammates,
- 25:43Speaker 4: so looking good for both assists and goals. So the
- 25:46Speaker 4: pair of them looking like really good investments for the
- 25:49Speaker 4: next four weeks at least. Okay, let's go to the
- 25:52Speaker 4: other end of the tick of them, because Berni are
- 25:53Speaker 4: at the bottom, so I know that is stev is
- 25:55Speaker 4: looking forward to being my third stob and everyone else
- 25:57Speaker 4: is third stub. The next few weeks they've got Liverpool
- 26:00Speaker 4: Manchester City across their next floor, so who will be
- 26:02Speaker 4: firmly welded at the end of my bench.
- 26:05Speaker 1: And then above them is Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle. But
- 26:09Speaker 1: I think it's really important to point out that they
- 26:12Speaker 1: mainly are down there because their form, the sorry they're
- 26:15Speaker 1: fixtures are skewed by one match. Newcasts have got Arsenal, Chelsea,
- 26:18Speaker 1: They've got Liverpool in that period. Arsenal have also got
- 26:20Speaker 1: City and Newcast also a couple of tricky ones in
- 26:23Speaker 1: there for Arsenal. But with those teams, are they not
- 26:25Speaker 1: fixture proof? But if you've got their big assets and
- 26:28Speaker 1: you've paid for them, I presume you're still assuming Sam
- 26:31Speaker 1: that they're they're going to still be able to return
- 26:33Speaker 1: in them.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I mean take Arsenal for example.
- 26:36Speaker 4: We said in one of the pods leading into the
- 26:38Speaker 4: season that the fixtures looked horrendous, but if you look
- 26:41Speaker 4: back at the record against those teams, they've actually got
- 26:44Speaker 4: really good records against them, so the chances are they
- 26:47Speaker 4: were still going to perform well, which is what we've
- 26:48Speaker 4: seen over the course of the opening three weeks. We've
- 26:50Speaker 4: had good performances, good returns from Arsenal assets. So and
- 26:54Speaker 4: it's the same with Joe Pedro right. So on paper,
- 26:57Speaker 4: obviously they've got that Liverpool game, which is tough, but
- 27:00Speaker 4: you look at the ones around that, the Brighton game,
- 27:02Speaker 4: the Brentford game, the Manaster United game, all of those
- 27:06Speaker 4: games feel like there's potential returns for Joe Pego in
- 27:09Speaker 4: that and if Cole Palmer's fit then of course you
- 27:11Speaker 4: could bracket him in with that conversation as well. But
- 27:15Speaker 4: I think when it comes to these big teams being
- 27:17Speaker 4: at the bottom, it's only if we see a run
- 27:20Speaker 4: that's got like three or four absolutely horrendous fixtures and
- 27:22Speaker 4: they play all of the Big Six or you know,
- 27:25Speaker 4: the ones that are going to be competing for the title,
- 27:27Speaker 4: that's different. But if there's just one match in there
- 27:29Speaker 4: that's looking red on the ticker, then I tend to
- 27:32Speaker 4: kind of disregard a little bit because as long as
- 27:35Speaker 4: we've got the form coming out of them heading into
- 27:36Speaker 4: the matches then actually probably they're still worthy of investment.
- 27:40Speaker 4: It's the teams that are around them that come lower down.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Like it's interesting to me that Jack Greenish is getting
- 27:46Speaker 4: so much love rightly because of the way that he's
- 27:48Speaker 4: been playing, but Everton are really low on the ticker.
- 27:51Speaker 4: Partly again that's skewed by the Liverpool game in the
- 27:54Speaker 4: Merseyside Derby, but there's also a game in there against Pallace,
- 27:56Speaker 4: who have started the season well. Villa and west Had
- 28:00Speaker 4: the other two. Who knows what's getting from them.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I'm obviously looking at Jack Grealish in case I had
- 28:05Speaker 1: mentioned it, and they're three nicer fixtures are at home,
- 28:09Speaker 1: aren't they? I think, which plays a big day out
- 28:10Speaker 1: with the new stadium and everything. So it's Villa at home,
- 28:13Speaker 1: then you've got Liverpool Way, then you've got west Ham
- 28:16Speaker 1: and Crystal Palace at home. But I do agree the
- 28:17Speaker 1: Palace is the trickiest. But that's also maybe the shows
- 28:20Speaker 1: I'm not as much of a planner. That's also the
- 28:22Speaker 1: last one of the next floor, so I kind of
- 28:24Speaker 1: feel like I've got a few weeks to kind of
- 28:26Speaker 1: deal with that or comes to terms of like that's happening,
- 28:28Speaker 1: but yeah, I think the fact they're at home. But yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 1: that also shows, doesn't it Sam, that they're far down
- 28:33Speaker 1: down on the ticker, And yes we should use it,
- 28:35Speaker 1: but actually when you look at it in detail, you go, Okay,
- 28:37Speaker 1: they're not the easiest fixtures, but Villa haven't had the
- 28:40Speaker 1: best start and Palace and that tough fixture against Palaces
- 28:44Speaker 1: at home, so yeah, worth worth barwing in mind all
- 28:46Speaker 1: of those things. And just a quick quick question fugials,
- 28:49Speaker 1: if you've got any Arsenal players at the moment.
- 28:51Speaker 3: No, I had because obviously with you know, with the
- 28:54Speaker 3: with the injury. Yeah so no, my my boys, no, Wow,
- 29:00Speaker 3: but it that's.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Understandable and it's not a very pleasant place to be.
- 29:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not.
- 29:04Speaker 3: And the leads game obviously, you know if you had
- 29:07Speaker 3: Timber for the lead game or defensively, they've been really
- 29:10Speaker 3: good within the first two first two games, Nogo's conceded,
- 29:14Speaker 3: David Ry are doing great, all of that, but then
- 29:17Speaker 3: the games coming up. Even if we agree with everything
- 29:21Speaker 3: Sam just said, it's not because Arsenal player top teams
- 29:24Speaker 3: that you should not have arsome players in your squad.
- 29:26Speaker 3: I just think it's difficult if you don't already have one,
- 29:29Speaker 3: or if if you just have one, to add some
- 29:31Speaker 3: more now, just wait a couple of weeks and then
- 29:34Speaker 3: after that you can invest heavily in Arsenal players and
- 29:36Speaker 3: trouble even.
- 29:37Speaker 1: If you want anyone else wants to throw any other
- 29:39Speaker 1: names that they're targeting over the next few weeks in.
- 29:41Speaker 3: At this point, Jules I thought the the Crystal Palace
- 29:46Speaker 3: and the Fulham fixtures look decent as well, from game
- 29:48Speaker 3: week to four to game week seven. So and especially
- 29:51Speaker 3: a team like Fulham, who obviously is not in Europe.
- 29:53Speaker 3: For Palace, it's a little bit difficult because different because
- 29:57Speaker 3: as we said, it's the first time in Europe, you
- 29:58Speaker 3: would expect glasnow and we saw that already when they
- 30:01Speaker 3: had to qualify that he plays strong teams in Europe too,
- 30:05Speaker 3: even if it's only the Conference League, there might be
- 30:08Speaker 3: a bit of rotation. But they don't have the deepest
- 30:10Speaker 3: of squad either, so I think it'd be interesting to
- 30:13Speaker 3: see how they cope with the two competitions.
- 30:16Speaker 2: But there's yeah, I think there's good fixtures there.
- 30:19Speaker 3: So if you want a Mattheti, if you like Muno's,
- 30:21Speaker 3: if you like Robinson for example, who's finally coming back
- 30:24Speaker 3: to injury and played half an hour the other day.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Those I think are good options really.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Josh King looked so so good as an eighteen year
- 30:33Speaker 3: old that it was a bit unlucky obviously that his
- 30:34Speaker 3: goal was ruled against Chelsea, But.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I is priced.
- 30:38Speaker 3: I think it's if you want there, even if you
- 30:41Speaker 3: leave him on your bench. Sometimes with the fixture that
- 30:43Speaker 3: Fulham have going forward, just Kin is a very very
- 30:45Speaker 3: good pick, I.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Think, yeah, And that's a really good point with Palace
- 30:48Speaker 1: as well, although we do have to consider their European football.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Palace's fixtures of Sunderland at home, west Ham away then
- 30:54Speaker 1: a tricky one at Liverpool at home and Everton away,
- 30:58Speaker 1: and George mentioned Fulham as well, Leeds and Brent. I'm
- 31:00Speaker 1: followed by Villa and Bournemouth away. Sammy you still, I
- 31:04Speaker 1: guess also you you brought in Metesa, didn't you for
- 31:06Speaker 1: these kind of fixtures? Yeah?
- 31:09Speaker 4: Yeah, and happy to have him obviously, schmidas our owners
- 31:12Speaker 4: needing to deal with that as well now after his
- 31:14Speaker 4: injury potentially over the interntional break, so that that'll be
- 31:17Speaker 4: something to consider as well, and the impact.
- 31:18Speaker 1: That that might have.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Obviously, hear what Glasdan has got to say. But yeah,
- 31:24Speaker 4: I think I'm happy to have, very very happy to
- 31:27Speaker 4: have Metessa. I think I'm in the in the market
- 31:30Speaker 4: for a new a new defender. I don't I don't
- 31:33Speaker 4: moonas he's definitely Yeah, So Marillo is going to go
- 31:38Speaker 4: for me this week, so it's going to be Muna's
- 31:40Speaker 4: maybe CINESI I can't quite decide whether whether I want
- 31:43Speaker 4: to go Palace and go for those fixtures, whether I
- 31:46Speaker 4: want to go Bournemouth and hit those fixtures. It's quite
- 31:51Speaker 4: it's quite difficult to decide between the two of them actually,
- 31:53Speaker 4: because they both have nice fixtures. Or do I go
- 31:57Speaker 4: early and bring in an Arsenal defender and just cut
- 32:00Speaker 4: for out that potential. But feels less exciting given the
- 32:02Speaker 4: fixtures that they have coming up over the next couple
- 32:05Speaker 4: because all right, it's for us at the weekend and
- 32:06Speaker 4: I would expect them to win that game, but after
- 32:09Speaker 4: that Manchester City and then well Newcastle has been a
- 32:12Speaker 4: bit of a different beast anyway this season. But those
- 32:14Speaker 4: two fixtures don't sound great. It's game week seven onwards.
- 32:17Speaker 4: I really want Arsenal investments. I'll have three from seven
- 32:19Speaker 4: for sure. So I think probably a little punt on
- 32:22Speaker 4: a Minos or a Cinesi or somebody like that is
- 32:25Speaker 4: how I'm going to go.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Okay, then it's time for differential of the week. The
- 32:29Speaker 1: less said about last week again the better soundwch for Gibbs.
- 32:31Speaker 1: What you've got two points? Jeorles went for Wataro, who
- 32:33Speaker 1: got exactly.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Allowed. That's an extra point surely because you know, okay.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Because of that, because he had a gold is allowed.
- 32:40Speaker 1: You can go first this week, Jeels.
- 32:42Speaker 2: So I've plenty this week because of I like, I like.
- 32:51Speaker 3: H yeah, Remi, Pino Christapas whould be good, even Gavin
- 32:55Speaker 3: from Fulham because I think, you know, it's like I
- 32:58Speaker 3: think Kevin could be a very good pig going forward.
- 33:00Speaker 2: This is a bit early for all this players I
- 33:02Speaker 2: mentioned then I had two.
- 33:04Speaker 3: I like Stevao, but the prime with the Stevao who's
- 33:06Speaker 3: been looking really good for Brazil and for Chelsea lately,
- 33:09Speaker 3: is coming back late from South America, as we explained.
- 33:12Speaker 2: So instead I went for Iliman and I Everton.
- 33:15Speaker 3: I know you love your Jack Grialish and it was
- 33:16Speaker 3: his birth the other day, Happy Birther Jags thirty. Yeah,
- 33:20Speaker 3: I heit different brother, but Iliman Engia six point five million,
- 33:25Speaker 3: just below the ten percent threshold of our differentials returned
- 33:29Speaker 3: in the last two games, clearly more of a finisher
- 33:32Speaker 3: now that gallysh is there andrews Burgh hold to certain
- 33:34Speaker 3: extent then the creator that he had to be a
- 33:37Speaker 3: lot Everton before and I think really she's helping him
- 33:40Speaker 3: massively for that. And we said Aston Villa haven't been
- 33:43Speaker 3: very good. It's at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool,
- 33:48Speaker 3: Everton for Everton, so I think Illiman and I could
- 33:50Speaker 3: still be good. And I think this is the last
- 33:52Speaker 3: week probably where he would still be a differential Sam.
- 33:57Speaker 4: So when I originally made this pick, he was only
- 33:59Speaker 4: in by say only he was owned by a nine
- 34:01Speaker 4: point three percent. That was on Monday morning when I
- 34:04Speaker 4: checked just before we started this record. He's now up
- 34:06Speaker 4: to nine point seven percent, so definitely going to be
- 34:09Speaker 4: the last week. This one is a differential as well
- 34:11Speaker 4: and proving very popular and in my actual team as well.
- 34:14Speaker 4: So back in one of my own George No Singing
- 34:17Speaker 4: Please is Jean Felipe Matteta. So we've already talked a
- 34:20Speaker 4: lot about Matteta and Pallas's great fixture and that they
- 34:23Speaker 4: have started with a game against Sunderland this weekend. He's
- 34:27Speaker 4: had six attempts on goal so far, two of those
- 34:28Speaker 4: have been classified as big chances. He definitely feels like
- 34:31Speaker 4: a player that I've been a bit unlucky with only
- 34:33Speaker 4: to have that one converted penalty goal so far. So
- 34:37Speaker 4: do you think he could do well now? It was
- 34:39Speaker 4: interesting because I nearly backed out of this one when
- 34:41Speaker 4: I looked at Sunderland's underlying numbers. So they've actually considered
- 34:43Speaker 4: the second fewest attempts so far this season of all
- 34:46Speaker 4: the clubs in the league, which really surprised me to
- 34:48Speaker 4: see them doing so well defensively. But Palace coming to
- 34:53Speaker 4: this one in the back of that three zero win
- 34:54Speaker 4: against Villa that I'll be looking to continue that form.
- 34:57Speaker 4: I do think he's going to be increasing the important
- 34:59Speaker 4: he's on penalty. He's yeah, it's Matta this week. That's
- 35:02Speaker 4: a more hopeful pick than anything, isn't it joking?
- 35:05Speaker 1: Joking? Double winman? If if he schools this week, you're
- 35:10Speaker 1: in differential of the week essentially and also get points
- 35:13Speaker 1: for your team. Okay, then transfers and captains, you guys
- 35:15Speaker 1: have already hinted at it, Jewels, you haven't hinted as
- 35:18Speaker 1: much about yours. You've kept your cars close to your chest.
- 35:20Speaker 2: What. Yeah, I'm just not sure I've got.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Is. Obviously, I still have flying Verts who even when
- 35:30Speaker 3: he plays for Germany, he's not doing that merch apart
- 35:32Speaker 3: from the.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Against that.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I know.
- 35:36Speaker 2: I know, I know that that's my problem. I'm going
- 35:38Speaker 2: to keep him.
- 35:38Speaker 3: He is going to be rubbish and then next week
- 35:41Speaker 3: you can laugh at me and said, well the guy.
- 35:43Speaker 3: The guys averaged two points for me this season. Don't
- 35:46Speaker 3: worry together, I know, but it's not. It's not because
- 35:48Speaker 3: you have him that that makes me feel better. You know.
- 35:50Speaker 2: So a lot of people, I'm not sure where I'm going,
- 35:54Speaker 2: but I'm going to go somewhere.
- 35:55Speaker 1: So you know, brilliant, I'm going to get somewhat really
- 35:59Speaker 1: helpful right for all that one. How many transfers have
- 36:01Speaker 1: you got?
- 36:06Speaker 2: I want to send me some free transfers?
- 36:13Speaker 1: Okay, so easy. Yeah, So I'm going to sell Marello
- 36:19Speaker 1: this week. I can't. I can't do any more weeks
- 36:22Speaker 1: of the Forest double up defensively. I just can't. I
- 36:24Speaker 1: can't deal with it anymore.
- 36:26Speaker 4: And they've got Arsenal and I don't trust postal cogs
- 36:29Speaker 4: defenses we've seen over the US.
- 36:31Speaker 1: I think I've been burned. So I'm going to sell Marillo.
- 36:33Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Yeah, Muna's Sessi.
- 36:36Speaker 4: I'm dreaming about Minors and SESSI at the minute, trying
- 36:38Speaker 4: to decide which one of them I want to bring
- 36:40Speaker 4: into my team because both have potentially huge upside. The
- 36:44Speaker 4: Choir is another one that comes into my thinking. Just
- 36:46Speaker 4: saves a little bit of money, but I think it'll
- 36:48Speaker 4: be It'll be one of those two. I can't see
- 36:51Speaker 4: myself owning a palace defender that's not Daniel Muna's because
- 36:54Speaker 4: we all know I feel about about him after last season.
- 36:57Speaker 4: So one of them too comes in. Captains, I'm on
- 37:01Speaker 4: Salar at the minute.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Is it that easy? He's not being great? He really has.
- 37:06Speaker 1: I know it's burned. They go Pedro if he hadn't
- 37:08Speaker 1: had the travel, yeah, I tend to agree cows, but
- 37:12Speaker 1: he's had the travel. So maybe super Jack Grealish if
- 37:17Speaker 1: I bring him in. Why did I fist pump them?
- 37:19Speaker 2: I would love that.
- 37:21Speaker 4: If you go Jack Greenlish captain, that would be I won't.
- 37:26Speaker 4: I think it will be Salah for a lot of
- 37:28Speaker 4: people I think.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Wish you can't you can't.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I've been saying that the whole time.
- 37:35Speaker 4: If I had gackpo or akit K, I'd find it
- 37:39Speaker 4: much easier with the captaincy this week because both of
- 37:43Speaker 4: them have the phone.
- 37:44Speaker 1: All news was going to start or something like that.
- 37:46Speaker 1: That would be nice, wouldn't it.
- 37:47Speaker 4: Well, can you imagine if it's not Cos he's got
- 37:53Speaker 4: the arm, he's not going to tell us that. No,
- 37:56Speaker 4: he won't, so it probably will be Salah. I can't keep.
- 37:59Speaker 4: I've done two differential captains of the last two weeks,
- 38:01Speaker 4: and both of them have failed. So I just think
- 38:02Speaker 4: I'm going to play a boring and go back to
- 38:04Speaker 4: Salah this week because it's Burnley and and a.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Lot of other people will do everyone else will do it,
- 38:09Speaker 1: I think, yeah, which isn't always a reason to do it,
- 38:14Speaker 1: But that's the way I play the game, isn't it Okay?
- 38:15Speaker 1: Then that's why we're going to end this pod. J Ors,
- 38:17Speaker 1: you can get yourself out of that car park. I
- 38:19Speaker 1: had many I haven't said. I was hoping that i'd
- 38:21Speaker 1: have seen you, like waving at that old ladies going
- 38:22Speaker 1: through their shopping.
- 38:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there's one that part just next to
- 38:25Speaker 3: me and just look through the window like if it
- 38:27Speaker 3: was a cart that she was looking into. That was me.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, Well, thanks for your commitment to the pod.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Remember everyone, it's a Saturday deadline. Get your teams locked
- 38:37Speaker 1: in before eleven am. The Fantasy shows back on Friday.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Braws is in the studio with me, then off the bench.
- 38:42Speaker 1: We're back on Monday. Lion As talking us through all
- 38:45Speaker 1: the talking points from Game week four. Have a good week, guys,
- 38:47Speaker 1: We'll see you next time.
