- 0:00Tracy Cartwright: Kiona and welcome to Constellations and all that.
- 0:03Tracy Cartwright: I'm your host, Tracy Cartwright, and together we will be exploring the world of family constellations with facilitators for and clients from around the world, looking at different perspectives and experiences in the work, having a cup of tea, and just chatting with some friends around their experiences in constellations.
- 0:23Tracy Cartwright: We'd love for you to join us.
- 0:25Tracy Cartwright: I hope that you enjoy this series as much as I have loved making it.
- 0:34Tracy Cartwright: Everyone, welcome to Constellations and all that.
- 0:37Tracy Cartwright: Today I have the pleasure of, um, chatting with my colleague here, Maya, who's based in our title in New Zealand also.
- 0:45Tracy Cartwright: So Maya, I'd love for you to introduce yourself.
- 0:48Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Thank you, Tracy, and thank you for having me.
- 0:50Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's a pleasure to be here.
- 0:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Uh, yes.
- 0:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I also live in, uh, New Zealand at the other island, top of the south island, but I am originally from Germany.
- 0:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And I lived in Switzerland, in England and London until I finally, uh, moved here, um, to enjoy the lifestyle in New Zealand.
- 1:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, uh, yeah, it's uh, wonderful that, uh, we connect here and there's quite a little community going on right in New Zealand family constellation into the us which is amazing.
- 1:23Tracy Cartwright: It's starting to grow.
- 1:25Tracy Cartwright: Isn't.
- 1:27Tracy Cartwright: So you are based, um, Pickton, you were just saying sort of outside of Pickton.
- 1:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 1:32Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 1:33Tracy Cartwright: Great.
- 1:34Tracy Cartwright: How long have you been constellating?
- 1:37Tracy Cartwright: How long have you been for some,
- 1:38Maia Andrea Bahlsen: oh, okay.
- 1:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Wow.
- 1:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's, so, uh, that's over 20 years now.
- 1:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Let me just recap.
- 1:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, probably 23 years, I would say.
- 1:52Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 1:53Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It all started in, uh, Switzerland when I, um, no, it started actually much earlier.
- 2:00Maia Andrea Bahlsen: What am I saying?
- 2:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: My first constellation was actually much earlier, probably another 15 years earlier.
- 2:08Tracy Cartwright: Wow.
- 2:09Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 2:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Or 10?
- 2:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: At least 10.
- 2:12Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 2:12Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So, um.
- 2:14Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I've been introduced to family consultation through a friend, uh, also colleague.
- 2:17Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I'm a lawyer.
- 2:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I was a lawyer in Germany, um, for, um, commercial law.
- 2:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And my friend, uh, she was training as a facilitator with, uh, somebody in Hava, was it?
- 2:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, and I loved the books from Bird Helen.
- 2:35Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I read them all.
- 2:36Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I found them absolutely amazing.
- 2:39Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But I ne it never clicked that it was a practical application to me.
- 2:43Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It just didn't click.
- 2:45Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, but she was, uh, studying it with somebody, so, and I had a, that's, now I remember, see, you forget these things when they heal, it's like amazing.
- 2:55Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It, it's like gone.
- 2:56Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It, but there has never happened.
- 2:58Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 2:58Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So I had actually psoriasis on my hands and feet.
- 3:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: At that time, uh, as a young lawyer and it was, um, horrible.
- 3:06Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It was very severe.
- 3:07Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I couldn't walk.
- 3:08Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It was the beer flesh wow.
- 3:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: On my feet.
- 3:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I had to wear gloves on my hands.
- 3:13Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Very, uh, you know, wasn't good for my career at all.
- 3:16Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And painful, of course.
- 3:17Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 3:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Treatments where all lie, you know, you get a little bit better, but it never gets away.
- 3:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then one day I visited her and she said, oh, why don't you have a constellation?
- 3:28Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And I said, okay.
- 3:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Well, I didn't know what she was doing.
- 3:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: We, we were, um, working with the figurine board, uh, at that time and I learned it from her later.
- 3:38Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, how to use figurine, so.
- 3:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: We consulate something.
- 3:41Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I had no clue what was going on.
- 3:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It was something with my mother to do and an an ex lover of her I never heard of.
- 3:48Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I thought, well, that's all very weird.
- 3:49Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Like, I don't know, six weeks later.
- 3:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So it was gone.
- 3:53Maia Andrea Bahlsen: My psoriasis gone.
- 3:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It was all healed to never return since ever.
- 3:57Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Wow.
- 3:57Maia Andrea Bahlsen: As you do, and you know that when you work with clients, um.
- 4:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: You go, go and you enjoy your life as if it was never anything wrong.
- 4:07Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Right.
- 4:07Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So I, at, at that time, I didn't even connect it to the Constellation.
- 4:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then, uh, years later when I met my, um, my husband, I, one, we wanted to have a family of course.
- 4:20Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, yeah.
- 4:22Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And it was, I did not get pregnant for five years.
- 4:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: No medical reason as it is, you know.
- 4:28Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then again, she said, why don't you do a constellation?
- 4:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And I said, oh, now I remember.
- 4:35Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Oh my gosh.
- 4:36Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I had one with you once.
- 4:37Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And actually I think my skin healed completely after that.
- 4:41Maia Andrea Bahlsen: This kind of, everything kind of clicked together.
- 4:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 4:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And I said, you're right.
- 4:45Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I should do that.
- 4:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So we went there to a weekend, uh, work.
- 4:49Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Switzerland and yeah.
- 4:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, uh, lo and behold, uh, six months I was, uh, late I was pregnant with my beautiful son, which is now grown up 22 years old.
- 4:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Fantastic.
- 5:00Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 5:00Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So I had this amazing, I had this amazing two constellations that, uh, completely changed my life and I was determined to know more, more about it.
- 5:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 5:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, because, uh, where I lived that time in Switzerland was very close to he there.
- 5:17Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um.
- 5:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: In Bavaria and I was in German, part of Switzerland near Zurich.
- 5:24Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And so I started and they just launched their university study.
- 5:30Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So they have in cooperation with the university in Brussel, the Germany University, um, for, you know, for unusual topics if you were subjects.
- 5:42Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 5:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Okay.
- 5:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: They have just created this course where you can certify with a bachelor degree.
- 5:48Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I thought, yeah, that's fantastic.
- 5:49Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I go, I do that.
- 5:50Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's exactly what, that's my next step.
- 5:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 5:53Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Forget about the lawyer.
- 5:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, I want to do something that is much more meaningful than that.
- 5:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 6:00Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then I studied and I was absolutely fascinated.
- 6:03Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 6:03Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I had a wonderful time.
- 6:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I had some project with birds and Sophie going, um, lovely people.
- 6:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, he's an outstanding, he, he was, he passed away an outstanding.
- 6:16Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Spirit, I have to say.
- 6:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, and I learned so much and I had to follow them over Europe traveling for their, there was not much theory, you know, there was like, he said, watch me Conservating 200 hours and you know what to do.
- 6:33Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 6:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And read, of course the 50 plus books that he wrote at that time, you know, and that's, that's.
- 6:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's it, right?
- 6:41Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 6:41Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 6:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, uh, we had a couple of practice meetings, but that was it.
- 6:45Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And so that's what I did.
- 6:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Right.
- 6:47Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I followed Europe.
- 6:49Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 6:49Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, we had some intimate, uh, sessions.
- 6:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: We had some huge sessions with, I don't know, 300 people in the room and Yeah.
- 6:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then I, I soaked it all up and, um, gained this, uh, degree.
- 7:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, what, since I then worked for others with it, um, very, very fulfilling work, um, very successful work for
- 7:14Tracy Cartwright: the
- 7:14Maia Andrea Bahlsen: clients.
- 7:15Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Uh, it's wonderful to see how they just, you know, step into their life and feel less burdened and freer and make choices instead of being directed by some invisible forces And, yeah.
- 7:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah, so that's in the nutshell my.
- 7:35Maia Andrea Bahlsen: My life, I have been in COVID, created family Constellation Virtual obviously, because we were all bound to the, to the house.
- 7:43Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, and I found out how super effective the work is Also online in groups and in one-on-ones.
- 7:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That was quite actually a surprise to me.
- 7:53Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But obviously in hindsight, why would it.
- 7:56Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Be any different because the field is definitely present, um, outside of space and time.
- 8:03Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So logically it, it works online as much as in person.
- 8:08Tracy Cartwright: So, so you weren't working online before COVID?
- 8:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: No, not really.
- 8:12Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It was not really a thing.
- 8:14Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, but of course, never.
- 8:16Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I mean, that was not existing then.
- 8:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Uh, always worked in person and he also always facilitated groups.
- 8:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So my one-on-one work, I really go back.
- 8:26Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, the skills that I gained and one-on working one-on-one was from a friend there, um, who showed me how to use the figurines.
- 8:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then I developed it from there, um, myself and.
- 8:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So it's a family constellation.
- 8:41Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Virtual then also came the demand, uh, of students to be, uh, like taught to facilitate.
- 8:47Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, uh, then I realized that there's a great demand to, um, learn the method in the most authentic way possible.
- 8:57Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Because as you know, family constellation is used for many, many things.
- 9:00Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And if you really, yeah.
- 9:02Maia Andrea Bahlsen: The word the name, and if you really ask what's, what's going on there, then you find out, oh my gosh, that has actually nothing to do with what be Heer has created.
- 9:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Right.
- 9:12Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So, uh, that, that was my passion because I'm very dedicated, um, disciple of Bed Heer and my, my passion to create a course that is very close to his teaching.
- 9:26Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 9:27Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Where I can convey the essence of the orders of love.
- 9:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That is his finding, you know, to, to my students so they can apply it with their clients and, and it can spread the word and can survive this, um, you know, diversity that we are all exposed to.
- 9:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Through the worldwide web and the networking and the social connection.
- 9:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Right?
- 9:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 9:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that is all under, um, family constellation virtual.com, a very comprehensive two years training for those who want to be certified.
- 10:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then there's also online trainings with courses for those who just want to have a, um, insight in some specific topics.
- 10:10Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 10:10Tracy Cartwright: Mm-hmm.
- 10:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 10:11Tracy Cartwright: That's brilliant and it's such, such a great offering, such a great offering.
- 10:16Tracy Cartwright: How would you, um, how do you describe Family Constellations?
- 10:21Tracy Cartwright: 'cause it's one of those questions, I get such a variety of answers.
- 10:24Tracy Cartwright: You know, we all have our unique way of saying it.
- 10:27Tracy Cartwright: So how would you describe it to someone that you're meeting for the first time and they ask you, what do you do?
- 10:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah, and then I said, I'm facilitating family consolation and I'm training facilitators.
- 10:39Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then they said.
- 10:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: They often don't dare to ask what it is because they don't want to look after.
- 10:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But, uh, yeah, I sometimes I am asked what it is, uh, from people who are really honest and interested.
- 10:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 10:51Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 10:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And so what I, uh, what I, uh, my, my, my short answer in a nutshell is, um, it is, uh, methodology to, uh, look at, find and heal intergenerational trauma and
- 11:08Tracy Cartwright: nice and easy, nice and simple.
- 11:09Tracy Cartwright: That's
- 11:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: really it, right?
- 11:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's it.
- 11:12Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And everything else is how you do it.
- 11:14Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And you know, working with the morph genetic field and how is it even possible.
- 11:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So if somebody's really interested in family consolation, which is actually not often the case, people who are interested know about it.
- 11:26Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But if you spark an interest just by, uh, explaining what family Constellation is in a nutshell, then I'm very happy to explain further.
- 11:35Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then I would explain that we are working with the field that a field is that we are all exposed to.
- 11:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And in many, many fields, like we know from, uh, Rupert Sherick, um, who has as a biologist, um, uh, from the Uni Oxford, he has done lots of studies, um, with the.
- 11:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: With the morph field, and he has proven that animals, plants, and people, we are all.
- 12:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Part of many, many fields around us.
- 12:03Maia Andrea Bahlsen: This is the fields that hold information and, uh, in family conservation, we are working with a specific fields that are governing a family system.
- 12:14Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And what a family system is that Bert Hellinger and Bert Inger was actually working quite closely with Rupert Shere at that time.
- 12:20Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So I saw them, uh, often, uh, um, communicate and converge about it.
- 12:27Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So, um, in, in, in terms of family, uh, wounds and healing intergenerational trauma, that is where the field of the family system is at, at play, right?
- 12:38Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So this field that contains the traumatic information of a family.
- 12:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And the family system is a defined field.
- 12:47Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's not what we think about a family like mother, father, children, grandchildren, and maybe the grandparents.
- 12:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's, it's a different system.
- 12:56Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that's, uh, gifted by Bert Helling and his, his life work to find out who belongs, uh, to a family system, which is actually the first order of law.
- 13:06Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that is an important part of the work.
- 13:09Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, that.
- 13:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Hopefully facilitators are able to see the significance of it.
- 13:16Maia Andrea Bahlsen: You can only work with the family members of the family, otherwise, um, the work doesn't is incoherent.
- 13:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It doesn't.
- 13:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Re any, uh, uh, inter-generational trauma, if you will, right?
- 13:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Because that is the information that is held for these family members in the morphic field.
- 13:35Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, the way we work is that we are resonating with this field.
- 13:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's a natural ability like.
- 13:41Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Breathing.
- 13:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So nothing special to learn or anything like that.
- 13:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Everybody can do that right away.
- 13:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, and you receive an information in form of a gesture, an emotion, a thought, it could be anything.
- 13:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, and the, the experienced and the well educated facilitator is translating that.
- 14:00Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Language of the soul into plain English, if you will, right?
- 14:04Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 14:04Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then we, we find this connection in past and present family members that are causing this burden that one is suffering under and using the orders of love of Bud Helena to men them, uh, in forms of adding what is missing mo most often.
- 14:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, that is allowing the flow of laugh again.
- 14:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It was a generation and with this flow of love comes out the life force and happiness and freedom to the family system and to the descendants and to the future generation even.
- 14:42Tracy Cartwright: Mm-hmm.
- 14:43Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, so this work is also fantastic to release future children, grandchildren from any burden.
- 14:50Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 14:51Tracy Cartwright: It's brilliant, brilliant.
- 14:52Tracy Cartwright: Love that description as well.
- 14:54Tracy Cartwright: Feel free to to say you don't wanna answer this if you don't want to.
- 14:57Tracy Cartwright: How have you seen this, this work affect your family system?
- 15:01Tracy Cartwright: Like, or the, what have been the gifts from this for you?
- 15:06Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Obviously you have lovely
- 15:07Tracy Cartwright: sand.
- 15:08Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Exactly.
- 15:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Huge, uh, huge.
- 15:12Maia Andrea Bahlsen: If I look back, who, who?
- 15:13Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I was in my twenties, in my thirties, in my forties.
- 15:17Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I am a completely differently person.
- 15:21Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I think differently.
- 15:22Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I feel differently.
- 15:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I create differently.
- 15:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I, there is no drama in my life since I started family consolation.
- 15:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I'm completely not present.
- 15:33Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I, I'm thriving.
- 15:36Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Towards freedom and happiness, and nothing seems to be in the way.
- 15:41Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Uh, for me, so I, I can create, that's, that's the objection, right?
- 15:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: You are here as an individual.
- 15:48Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So to create a unique life, uh, through, uh, or with the gifts that you've been given, um, to help yourself and others.
- 15:57Maia Andrea Bahlsen: To evolve and, um, make this place a better place.
- 16:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, you know, help animals, for example, and, and other people and uplift them and be kind and compassionate.
- 16:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that is all, that's all healing properties.
- 16:14Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And you can only do that when you're unburdened by trauma.
- 16:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: If, if a soul is traumatized, there is no room for creativity.
- 16:22Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 16:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 16:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's, it's not, my
- 16:24Tracy Cartwright: ears pricked up.
- 16:25Tracy Cartwright: When you said to help animals
- 16:27Maia Andrea Bahlsen: mm-hmm.
- 16:27Tracy Cartwright: Are you referring to constellating them?
- 16:30Maia Andrea Bahlsen: The moment, I'm more on a day-to-day basis.
- 16:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I, I, for example, run an animal sanctuary and I'm a long term vegan and so I am.
- 16:37Maia Andrea Bahlsen: You know, uh, my journey actually started, uh, my journey towards compassion started with compassion towards which now spreads with the work over to, um, uh, people.
- 16:48Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 16:48Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Compassion to people as well.
- 16:50Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, I have not, uh, yes I do, actually I have not.
- 16:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Cons.
- 16:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yes, I have, sorry, what am I saying?
- 16:56Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I did, I did work for animals and with animals in a constellation.
- 17:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I do remember a few times where that was, um, fantastic.
- 17:07Maia Andrea Bahlsen: When we work with animals in the family constellation, they are placeholders for member of the family system.
- 17:15Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 17:15Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But we don't need to necessarily know who that is.
- 17:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: The um, the wonder, the wonder of this work is that all the challenge for some actually is that we are not using the mind a lot.
- 17:28Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 17:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So we are not looking for explanation for the mind.
- 17:33Maia Andrea Bahlsen: We let the soul speak and the soul move.
- 17:37Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Towards reconciliation, towards honor and respect.
- 17:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's what we allow.
- 17:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And the mind, as Brett would say, stays behind puzzled.
- 17:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 17:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 17:47Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And I like to say to my workshop participants, um, especially in the in-person workshops.
- 17:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 17:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: When you come here and we work on this day together, you leave your mind out the door together with your shoes.
- 18:01Tracy Cartwright: Get up on the way out.
- 18:03Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Exactly.
- 18:03Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And you slip in your shoes and you grab your mind.
- 18:07Maia Andrea Bahlsen: After this day on your way out.
- 18:09Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, that doesn't mean that you are like a nu uh, zombie.
- 18:14Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That just means that you not necessarily get, uh, in a consolation enough food for the mind to think it through and to understand everything as I have experienced from my both first ex, first family consolation myself, where I understood nothing.
- 18:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 18:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: How effect.
- 18:33Maia Andrea Bahlsen: How amazingly effectful they were.
- 18:36Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I actually prefer if the client doesn't understand what's going on.
- 18:40Tracy Cartwright: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:41Tracy Cartwright: Because it's that, um, it's that intellectual, I'm trying to break it down and trying to understand it, rather than receiving it on the sole level, isn't it?
- 18:50Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Always not.
- 18:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's all.
- 18:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And if we think about family cons, constellation work not as a method to release individual, uh, burdens, but as a method to release intergenerational trauma, then we know that the client who's consulting us and you know that Tracy from your clients as well.
- 19:08Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Their messenger.
- 19:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: They're messenger from their family system.
- 19:12Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 19:13Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And when we work with them, we allow the family system to tell us what they want to hear.
- 19:19Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And it's not necessarily what the client came from for, right?
- 19:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 19:24Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But we know that when this is healed, this family wound is healed, that the client will benefit from it.
- 19:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 19:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: In in certain ways.
- 19:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That is out of our hands, of course.
- 19:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And to fits the path.
- 19:35Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And anyhow, it's not a one one pill fix at all.
- 19:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Although it sometimes sounds like it when I say, oh, my psoriasis went and then I got pregnant.
- 19:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It feels like it, but it's still a journey, you know?
- 19:47Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I mean, there's so much more than to do.
- 19:49Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 19:50Tracy Cartwright: Have, have you come across ones where it's like you do a layer and then another layer pops up for the same one or, 'cause sometimes it's like there's a la, you've done a constellation and boom, something moves, like you say your psoriasis, and then other times it's like.
- 20:07Tracy Cartwright: I do a layer and all of a sudden there's something else that needs to come and it's all connected to that one thing, but it's another layer of it or another angle from it.
- 20:17Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 20:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yes.
- 20:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, that is actually the nature of the work, I would say.
- 20:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Alright.
- 20:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I like to explain it.
- 20:24Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's another way to explain Family Constellation.
- 20:27Maia Andrea Bahlsen: For those who are really, really interested and in a conversation, don't give up asking me.
- 20:33Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I say, well, family constellation is, uh, is he is peeling an onion as opposed to peeling.
- 20:38Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Orange.
- 20:39Maia Andrea Bahlsen: If you have an orange here, you have one peel and you want to peel it because there's a sweet flesh underneath and you want to indulge into the sweet flesh.
- 20:48Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And in order to get there, you need to peel it.
- 20:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So here you go.
- 20:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: You peel the orange, you have the sweet flesh, you enjoy it.
- 20:55Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 20:55Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And you think that's it?
- 20:57Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's exactly what I wanted.
- 20:58Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Hmm.
- 20:59Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 20:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But what happened in hour later or two?
- 21:02Maia Andrea Bahlsen: You want a new orange?
- 21:04Maia Andrea Bahlsen: 'cause you have the desire for this orange and it's not getting away.
- 21:08Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's getting more and more is more oranges.
- 21:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: You eat right.
- 21:12Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But in family consolation work, we are peeling an onion.
- 21:16Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That means the first onion layer is peeled in a conation.
- 21:20Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's the biggest.
- 21:21Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 21:22Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And lots of tears as we know when we peel onions.
- 21:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 21:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 21:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And there's another onion layer underneath of course.
- 21:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Right.
- 21:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So that needs to be peeled whenever in their own time.
- 21:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Could be years or lifetimes in between, or immediate whatever is right for, for the family system that is gonna peel and so on.
- 21:41Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Lots of tears getting less and lesser.
- 21:43Maia Andrea Bahlsen: The onion peel gets smaller and smaller, and then you have the last peel and what is then there?
- 21:50Maia Andrea Bahlsen: There's nothing.
- 21:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm. The last onion peel is revealing nothing.
- 21:55Maia Andrea Bahlsen: As opposed to the sweet orange where we want more for freedom and happiness lies where there's nothing.
- 22:01Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 22:02Maia Andrea Bahlsen: No desire, no
- 22:04Tracy Cartwright: medicine
- 22:04Maia Andrea Bahlsen: won, call
- 22:05Tracy Cartwright: away.
- 22:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Exactly.
- 22:07Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that I love that.
- 22:09Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 22:09Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's our, that's our work.
- 22:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, and I'm very, very passionate and also very, um, happy to be able to offer this work 'cause I see, um, this amazing result.
- 22:21Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 22:22Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 22:22Tracy Cartwright: And I was thinking, you said earlier that, um, you were in law.
- 22:27Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yes, I was a lawyer, yeah.
- 22:29Tracy Cartwright: And but not a criminal lawyer or a family
- 22:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: lawyer?
- 22:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: No, no.
- 22:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Uh, no, no.
- 22:33Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I was a commercial lawyer.
- 22:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I was working for, um, I was actually very specialized.
- 22:39Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I had actually quite a, quite a steep career in Germany.
- 22:41Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, I was specialized in franchise law and that was at that time.
- 22:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: At that time, it's many, many decades ago, uh, a new field in Germany, right?
- 22:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And it's moved, moved over from America, like, you know, McDonald's and so on.
- 22:57Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And uh, and I was a young lawyer fresh from uni and I was specializing in that.
- 23:03Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, uh, so I had the fortune to work with big companies, um, and small entrepreneurs with great ideas, and we were working together to develop.
- 23:16Maia Andrea Bahlsen: This franchise system, uh, tailored to Germany.
- 23:19Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 23:19Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 23:21Tracy Cartwright: Okay.
- 23:21Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And yeah, and I wrote many books about it, and it was a fantastic, um, work and I was very happy.
- 23:30Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I was traveling a lot and had fantastic clients.
- 23:33Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Very interesting.
- 23:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that's
- 23:34Tracy Cartwright: systemic work in itself, isn't it?
- 23:37Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 23:37Maia Andrea Bahlsen: If you'll It's already Yes.
- 23:39Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's, it's system.
- 23:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 23:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yes.
- 23:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's a system.
- 23:41Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah, you're right.
- 23:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah, you're right.
- 23:43Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah, you are right.
- 23:45Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 23:45Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So apparently systems are drawing my attention.
- 23:50Tracy Cartwright: Beautiful, beautiful.
- 23:51Tracy Cartwright: So you are running an annual animal sanctuary now, and you are still holding, um, regular workshops in person or
- 23:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah, a few, because as you know, New Zealand is very, very, very.
- 24:04Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Small populated, particularly on the south island.
- 24:08Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, so together the family consolation, enthusiast from New Zealand that, uh, you know, that's, it doesn't happen very often.
- 24:15Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Uh, I have two regular workshops, uh, one here in my area in Marlborough, um, in springtime and in autumn.
- 24:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: One in Christchurch.
- 24:24Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's the cap City of the South island of New Zealand.
- 24:28Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 24:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, that's where I, um, invite.
- 24:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Those who want to come to a day workshop and experiences in person.
- 24:38Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, and other than that, I have monthly online workshops where.
- 24:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Can join from, obviously from all over the world.
- 24:47Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 24:47Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, it's at different times.
- 24:49Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, it's all on the website.
- 24:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's a different time zone conversion.
- 24:53Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And so,
- 24:55Tracy Cartwright: so autumn, we're coming into Autumn now.
- 24:56Tracy Cartwright: So when's your one in Christchurch?
- 24:58Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, that is in April.
- 25:00Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I think I have to look it up.
- 25:03Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's um, it's on our newsletter.
- 25:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's not really on our website, but because it's more for the online work, our website.
- 25:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 25:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But, um, it's, uh, we are always announcing the in-person workshops in our newsletter.
- 25:15Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That we are sending out to our subscribers.
- 25:17Tracy Cartwright: Hey, I better subscribe.
- 25:18Tracy Cartwright: I can.
- 25:19Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yes.
- 25:20Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That would be lovely
- 25:20Tracy Cartwright: to see you.
- 25:21Tracy Cartwright: That's good for people to have that, you know, like, um, yeah, I have a new, there's the New Zealand, it was a page that I started years ago that was just, yeah.
- 25:31Tracy Cartwright: Meant for me to share to my friends, and it is ended up going, but it's the New Zealand Family and systemic constellation page.
- 25:38Tracy Cartwright: So feel free to advertise on that too, because it's
- 25:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Oh, lovely.
- 25:41Tracy Cartwright: Um, it goes everywhere and people are, mm-hmm.
- 25:43Tracy Cartwright: I often get messages from people asking me, Hey, do you know when there's a constellation here?
- 25:48Tracy Cartwright: Or so, so that's really cool.
- 25:50Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 25:51Tracy Cartwright: Mm-hmm.
- 25:51Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 25:52Tracy Cartwright: I wanna come back to the animals.
- 25:54Tracy Cartwright: I'm curious.
- 25:54Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 25:55Tracy Cartwright: I asked you about if you use animals, and you said they come in as representatives.
- 25:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 26:00Tracy Cartwright: I have a little dog.
- 26:00Tracy Cartwright: She does that too.
- 26:01Tracy Cartwright: She comes and tells me she comes in, you know, she'll come and go blow her little nose at me.
- 26:07Tracy Cartwright: I'm like, what?
- 26:08Tracy Cartwright: She'll look at me and I'll go, oh, something drops in.
- 26:10Tracy Cartwright: Then you get it.
- 26:11Tracy Cartwright: Which is beautiful.
- 26:12Tracy Cartwright: But I've also done a constellation for, I say it's for the dog, but actually it was for the, for the human that the dog was living with.
- 26:20Tracy Cartwright: And it ended up, it just shifted a whole lot of behavioral stuff that was going on.
- 26:24Tracy Cartwright: Have you ever done anything like that with, with, um, your, your pictures?
- 26:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I have, I remember vividly a consolation in person where the issue was the client, um, you know, working on an issue, had family members represented and there was a representative.
- 26:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: We did not know who that was, who was, or whom there was representing, who was, um, kind of the key, uh, to unlock the secret around the trauma.
- 26:57Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, and she, the client then said, all of a sudden, oh my gosh, that's my dog.
- 27:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That was my dog.
- 27:03Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I said, oh, right.
- 27:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So what happened?
- 27:06Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then she said she had to left her dog behind when she moved out of the country.
- 27:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that, and then we, when we applied, you know, the healing movement for her to.
- 27:18Maia Andrea Bahlsen: To fix this wound, um, that was opened up there because it was a repetitive issue in the family system.
- 27:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It ran, ran as a repetition in the, in the family.
- 27:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, then of course for her and for a family system, there was a great release.
- 27:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: The fear gave her the information, it's your dog, so she could connect with the situation, but the dog itself is standing for an.
- 27:45Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Ancient family member who was the first one who was left behind in this?
- 27:49Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah, in this family system.
- 27:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Right.
- 27:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So this is how family, uh, constellation also work on multiple layers.
- 27:56Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, and that's why the mind cannot, or the intellect cannot really follow.
- 28:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's really hard.
- 28:01Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Or when you, for example, when the client says, oh, I think that is me.
- 28:06Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Like there's a representative in three or four generations before, and then all of a sudden I think that is me.
- 28:13Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That is possible.
- 28:14Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Because the soul could incarnate of course, and it does happily into the same family system.
- 28:20Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And it's very possible that that is the case.
- 28:24Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And so the, um, the information that we receive, uh, when we work with our clients, also coming from the clients often as an insight, yeah, as a spontaneous insight.
- 28:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And so animals, uh, come through as well.
- 28:38Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, that, that was what I remember very vividly, how that.
- 28:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: How that was kind of disinformation, unraveling everything.
- 28:46Tracy Cartwright: Fantastic.
- 28:47Tracy Cartwright: I love it.
- 28:48Tracy Cartwright: I love how they interact and, and sometimes it's, I, there's birds like looking in the window or, you know, yeah.
- 28:57Tracy Cartwright: We hear, you hear something outside.
- 28:58Tracy Cartwright: I remember I was on a madai in, um, the far north and through this valley at a, at a distance I could see a dog and it was just like looking directly at the madai.
- 29:10Tracy Cartwright: And barking at us, and only myself and the client heard it and the whole nui was full of people.
- 29:17Tracy Cartwright: But nobody else heard it.
- 29:19Tracy Cartwright: Mm-hmm.
- 29:19Tracy Cartwright: Only her and I heard the dog and it was like, it was calling, it was doing it, you know, a cutting, a calling.
- 29:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 29:26Tracy Cartwright: And, um, yeah, it really touched her, but it was just like fascinating that only her and I heard it.
- 29:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 29:33Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 29:33Tracy Cartwright: So they're just amazing how they can step in and, and be part of the field so easily.
- 29:39Tracy Cartwright: And there's no.
- 29:41Tracy Cartwright: Ego, there's, you know, there's nothing stopping them.
- 29:43Tracy Cartwright: They'll just be in and out.
- 29:45Tracy Cartwright: Yeah,
- 29:45Maia Andrea Bahlsen: exactly.
- 29:46Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that's how the representatives are also resonating with the field.
- 29:49Maia Andrea Bahlsen: There's no ego.
- 29:51Tracy Cartwright: Mm-hmm.
- 29:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, that's also left, if you will, behind with the mind where the shoes are.
- 29:56Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 29:57Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, uh, my students.
- 30:00Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, when I work with them in the practice workshop, right, we do practice workshops, right?
- 30:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So I, I am not like bird heer that I just tell them, follow me everywhere and you learn.
- 30:10Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So I have a proper, uh, online, um, platform with courses, uh, where the theory is all recorded, um, with demonstration videos.
- 30:20Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Drawings and all of that.
- 30:21Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Mm-hmm.
- 30:22Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And then we have practice, um, uh, groups, right?
- 30:24Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So we gather every month, and then they, under my guidance, they facilitate and then vo for each other.
- 30:30Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And so the, so they, they learn, uh, and come into their own, own power and learn and making mistakes and correcting them and so on.
- 30:39Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, uh, and, and that's.
- 30:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Exactly what, where I, where the place where I feel like it's where you are really connecting with, excuse me, with the morphogenetic field is where you are without ego.
- 30:53Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Right?
- 30:53Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And this is why we love the work.
- 30:55Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And they say they love it.
- 30:56Maia Andrea Bahlsen: They just love it because, excuse me, the residue of my cord, because they love it so much because they feel so uplifted.
- 31:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: In this work.
- 31:06Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that's only because you're stepping out of your ego and mind and you're connecting with emotional fear, and you are in this rhyme of compassionate healing and unconditional love.
- 31:17Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that's why we love this work now because it brings us to this place that we otherwise, in a day-to-day moment are rarely touching because we are so busy.
- 31:26Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It
- 31:27Tracy Cartwright: made sense to things that were happening to me for or for me, through me.
- 31:32Tracy Cartwright: So yeah, that was like, wow, okay.
- 31:34Tracy Cartwright: There's some, it's happening in front of me and I, and I know this 'cause it happens through me.
- 31:40Tracy Cartwright: Um, so when I first met Family Constellations, it was like, oh, I understand it, but I didn't know why I understood it, but it made sense to things that were happening.
- 31:50Tracy Cartwright: So it was, it's great.
- 31:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 31:52Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 31:53Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 31:53Tracy Cartwright: It's very good.
- 31:55Tracy Cartwright: Do you have, have you, you worked with Bert and Sophie obviously, um, and your friend who first introduced you to Constellations.
- 32:03Tracy Cartwright: Are there any other teachers or people that have influenced you in Constellations that you'd like to share
- 32:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: next to?
- 32:11Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, Bert Hellinger, um, who is my.
- 32:15Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Spiritual teacher and family consolation.
- 32:17Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, uh, hero.
- 32:19Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Hero if you will.
- 32:21Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I, uh, was also trained by Malcolm Southwood, Southwood Healing.
- 32:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, he's a spiritual healer about the same age as Bert Heener, and I was introduced to him in Switzerland.
- 32:33Maia Andrea Bahlsen: He was working out of Basel at that time.
- 32:35Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Is English.
- 32:36Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, um, and I, yeah, embarked, uh, I was really called to do his work and I embarked on a one and a half years, um, journey to learn some methods of, um, emotional and spiritual healing and, uh.
- 32:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That was not even the main focus.
- 32:55Maia Andrea Bahlsen: The main focus was the world introduced me to that lies beyond our physical life and the way that he could explain it and, um, the way he could convey concepts that I always found difficult to understand how birth and death, for example, work on a spiritual level, not on a physical level what the soul is doing.
- 33:17Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Everything, you know, that lies beyond.
- 33:19Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um.
- 33:20Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Our perception as a, as a, and that was, I mean, I was always interested.
- 33:25Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I am interested in yogic, vedic literature and the whole picture.
- 33:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That was always an attraction to me.
- 33:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, but he could actually explain it, uh, and show it even.
- 33:39Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 33:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So I could experience it, which is important for me because I'm not a believer.
- 33:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 33:44Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I, I need to experience things and then I understand them and then I can integrate them.
- 33:50Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And he was able to do that.
- 33:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And um, that was so eye-opening.
- 33:54Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And that has influenced my work hugely because when we work with.
- 33:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Intergenerational trauma that's well and good, but there is also individual trauma.
- 34:04Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Everybody experience individual trauma.
- 34:06Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah, yeah,
- 34:07Tracy Cartwright: yeah.
- 34:08Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Through birth, early childhood or even a past life that is carrying over.
- 34:13Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And I have experienced that it is sometimes hard to, um, kind of, um, go in or find the intergenerational trauma when there is an individual trauma, uh, lingering around that is kind of blocking the path and.
- 34:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: In order to do that, I, I also need to address that, um, uh, when I work with clients, and I also teach that in my course because it is part of the work when you want to, when you want to provide the whole path of healing for somebody, that they are also able to go through individual trauma properly, uh, to release it and with professional help.
- 34:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, and, uh, that is what I learned from Michael Consult and I'm very grateful for him.
- 34:57Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So that is referring to a, a rebirthing sessions or, or no.
- 35:02Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Regressions into early childhood.
- 35:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Or, um, or working with attached energies.
- 35:09Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um, I have actually, interestingly, I have that quite a bit and it happens in Family Constellation.
- 35:15Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So that is a very distinct movement that I see that in a family constellation and, uh, uh, that has been to do that.
- 35:23Maia Andrea Bahlsen: This, um, either family member or the client is, um.
- 35:27Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Burdened by an attached energy, uh, that needs to be released and that we can do that actually in the family consolation.
- 35:33Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So there are some crossovers, um, that we can do.
- 35:37Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And Bert Heener has also done rebirthing in his family constellation.
- 35:43Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So a very hands on method that he learned from Irina.
- 35:47Maia Andrea Bahlsen: I don't know whether I ever heard of her.
- 35:49Maia Andrea Bahlsen: She is big in Europe.
- 35:50Maia Andrea Bahlsen: She is.
- 35:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Um.
- 35:51Maia Andrea Bahlsen: English German.
- 35:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: German is test therapy.
- 35:53Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's probably translated as holding tight therapy or something like that.
- 35:58Tracy Cartwright: Oh,
- 35:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: okay.
- 35:59Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Uh, so what he has done and demonstrated and, and, and, and worked with in his family consolation workshops with clients when it was appropriate was Arsing process where he was representing the mother and, um, and hold the client tight.
- 36:16Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So they could go through the birthing process with him.
- 36:19Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Uh, and that is both family consolation because you are extending the mother and also rebirthing process, which is an individual trauma, not an intergenerational trauma.
- 36:28Maia Andrea Bahlsen: So.
- 36:29Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's what, what, what has influenced me then?
- 36:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Uh, when I, when I learned with Alwood and, um, Alwood and Patel are my great teachers that I'm very, very grateful for.
- 36:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And they are always feel like they're always, uh, behind me and they're guiding me.
- 36:46Tracy Cartwright: Fantastic.
- 36:47Tracy Cartwright: That's beautiful.
- 36:49Tracy Cartwright: On that beautiful screen of you, behind you as well for those who can see.
- 36:54Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 36:55Tracy Cartwright: And just imagine that you are able to lean into that, that support.
- 36:59Tracy Cartwright: They sound amazing.
- 37:00Tracy Cartwright: Well, I know of, so the other guy sounds pretty, pretty phenomenal as well.
- 37:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 37:05Tracy Cartwright: Oh, okay.
- 37:08Tracy Cartwright: I think we'll leave it there today.
- 37:10Tracy Cartwright: Mm-hmm.
- 37:11Tracy Cartwright: That's, it's been wonderful to have you on here, to have this time to connect with you and, um, yeah, I'll, we'll share your details on the web.
- 37:20Tracy Cartwright: Um, as these, as this goes out, we'll have a link to, um, to your online website and people can look up and see when these workshops are available.
- 37:32Tracy Cartwright: And, um, yeah, come and come and check out what you have to on offer.
- 37:37Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But that's wonderful.
- 37:38Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Tracy, you did such a good work to bring this idea of family consolation out there with your, um, podcast and your interviews.
- 37:47Maia Andrea Bahlsen: That's, uh, really appreciated and I'm very happy to be here with you today.
- 37:52Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It was a lovely time to spend, um, together and hopefully I see you in person.
- 37:59Tracy Cartwright: Yeah, hopefully that'll be lovely to see you in person soon.
- 38:03Tracy Cartwright: Sometime soon, I'm sure.
- 38:05Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 38:06Tracy Cartwright: And um, and yeah, my goal is to get, to get the knowledge out there for people to understand and for constellations to be something that, that.
- 38:15Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 38:15Tracy Cartwright: That everyone knows about, oh, there's an option, there's something different we can do
- 38:19Maia Andrea Bahlsen: next.
- 38:19Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And, and they should, in Germany, they use it in schools and in prisons and, um, psychologists use family constellation and it's like everywhere.
- 38:28Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's, it's nothing.
- 38:30Tracy Cartwright: Mm-hmm.
- 38:30Maia Andrea Bahlsen: You need to explain to anybody.
- 38:31Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Right?
- 38:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Yeah.
- 38:32Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's a little bit different here.
- 38:34Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And in South America.
- 38:35Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Oh, it's big.
- 38:36Maia Andrea Bahlsen: And in America it's very big, isn't it?
- 38:37Maia Andrea Bahlsen: But in East Germany it's quite big.
- 38:40Maia Andrea Bahlsen: Russia even.
- 38:42Maia Andrea Bahlsen: It's more like we are kind of in, um, Oceania in a little bit of a, a valley of the unknown.
- 38:50Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 38:52Tracy Cartwright: Yeah.
- 38:52Tracy Cartwright: We're getting there.
- 38:53Tracy Cartwright: We're getting there.
- 38:54Tracy Cartwright: You do, we do.
- 38:54Tracy Cartwright: We just keep spreading the word.
