- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey Jonas! Okay, here we are. Welcome back. Hey guys.
- 0:14Speaker 1: We have had quite the week. Let us fill you
- 0:18Speaker 1: in on kind of all that happened. Starting with our
- 0:20Speaker 1: performance on Netflix for the first ever NFL game in
- 0:25Speaker 1: Australia in Melbourne. Now, here's the thing. Melbourne is in Australia,
- 0:29Speaker 1: which is very, very far away from everything. This is
- 0:32Speaker 1: a different planet. It's a different planet. It takes a
- 0:35Speaker 1: minute to get there and then get back, turns out. Yeah.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Travel woes aside, the performance was amazing. We had so
- 0:42Speaker 1: much fun. There was 100,000 people in the cricket stadium there.
- 0:46Speaker 1: We don't get enough chances to get over to our
- 0:48Speaker 1: fans in Australia. And this was a combination of our
- 0:50Speaker 1: fans and obviously the NFL fans. So we promised them
- 0:52Speaker 1: six minutes this year. Six minutes. Of our time. And
- 0:56Speaker 1: we did the math, and basically between the flights to
- 0:58Speaker 1: get there and then to get back, it netted out
- 1:00Speaker 1: to be something like for every minute of performance, it
- 1:03Speaker 1: was about nine hours of travel. That tracks. That definitely tracks.
- 1:08Speaker 1: But Joe had the most complicated travel of all of us.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Tell us about what happened. Yes, he did. I did, yes.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Being one who likes to make it about himself, I
- 1:15Speaker 1: wanted to be tardy. And so I was flying from
- 1:18Speaker 1: London to Melbourne, and it happened to be that day
- 1:22Speaker 1: every flight was canceled. The radars weren't working or something.
- 1:25Speaker 1: So like over 60,000 flights were just canceled. Were canceled.
- 1:29Speaker 1: In one of the biggest airports in the world. Including
- 1:32Speaker 1: any other UK based airport. And so I just waited
- 1:34Speaker 1: in the airport. I was able to get on an
- 1:36Speaker 1: earlier flight and it didn't take off till midnight or whatever.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Just for some background, we're on the phone with the
- 1:42Speaker 1: team because they're scrambling with the NFL, with travel team
- 1:45Speaker 1: and all that to figure out how do we get
- 1:46Speaker 1: Joe somehow on a plane to get there in time
- 1:49Speaker 1: for the performance? Because we really only had a buffer
- 1:52Speaker 1: of like eight hours or something. And Eventually, you get
- 1:57Speaker 1: on this flight. I get on the flight. It takes
- 1:58Speaker 1: me to Dubai, but I miss my connection because the
- 2:01Speaker 1: flight got in too late. And not because you were
- 2:04Speaker 1: tardy or whatever. It's not like you just wanted to
- 2:08Speaker 1: hang out in another country for a little bit. Dubai
- 2:10Speaker 1: is tight, though. It was really fun, though. I had
- 2:13Speaker 1: a great accidental day off. It was a guilt-free day
- 2:16Speaker 1: off because there was nothing I could do. Then I
- 2:19Speaker 1: had a full day. I landed at 10 a.m., and
- 2:21Speaker 1: the next flight was until 2.45 a.m. that night or
- 2:24Speaker 1: the following day. So then I just ran around Dubai
- 2:29Speaker 1: and had amazing lunches and shopped. You had multiple lunches.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Tell us about it. I had two lunches. And then
- 2:35Speaker 1: I had two dinners. And then I got back on
- 2:38Speaker 1: the plane and then landed pretty much the day of show.
- 2:43Speaker 1: The morning of. Very late the morning of and then
- 2:46Speaker 1: tried to nap again. So me and Kevin got there
- 2:48Speaker 1: and we did the run through for the performance without you.
- 2:52Speaker 1: There was someone standing in. And this was the day before.
- 2:55Speaker 1: The whole time, we're like, he may or may not
- 2:57Speaker 1: make it, thinking of what we could do as a
- 2:59Speaker 1: contingency plan. There really wasn't anything. Luckily, you get there
- 3:03Speaker 1: in time, you land at about 9 a.m., and you
- 3:06Speaker 1: do whatever you got to do, shower, eat some food.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Then we're basically off to the stadium, and within a
- 3:12Speaker 1: couple hours, we're on stage in front of millions and
- 3:13Speaker 1: millions of people all over the world, and no one
- 3:16Speaker 1: had any idea that Joe had just arrived mere hours before.
- 3:20Speaker 1: The other thing that was cool about this performance is
- 3:21Speaker 1: that because it was in Australia, we wanted to honor
- 3:23Speaker 1: one of our favorite performers, Australian artist, the song that's
- 3:26Speaker 1: been really important to all of us for a long time,
- 3:29Speaker 1: You're the Voice by the great John Farnham. A song
- 3:31Speaker 1: that is, I think, known by so many people around
- 3:33Speaker 1: the world, but it's an anthem for Australian folks. And
- 3:37Speaker 1: so we put this song in the performance, and there
- 3:40Speaker 1: was a lot of back and forth if we should
- 3:41Speaker 1: do it, because it's not one of our songs. Well,
- 3:44Speaker 1: we figured it's not one where you go, that's John Farnham,
- 3:48Speaker 1: I think, immediately for most people. And also for our audience,
- 3:50Speaker 1: probably it's a new discovery. So it's a little bit
- 3:54Speaker 1: strange if just And within six minutes, we're doing a
- 3:57Speaker 1: cover as well, which was a brave move. It was great, though,
- 4:00Speaker 1: because we definitely felt that. I don't know. I felt
- 4:03Speaker 1: the audience instantly connect to us in that moment, which
- 4:07Speaker 1: I think was really, really special. Well, yeah, I mean,
- 4:10Speaker 1: I think it was the right thing to do to
- 4:11Speaker 1: kind of tip the cap to an Australian great and
- 4:15Speaker 1: in their country to to really include them in that moment.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And it was really powerful for me. And I didn't
- 4:19Speaker 1: really know the lore of the song. And Nick, you like.
- 4:22Speaker 1: you know, you presented the idea of doing it. And
- 4:24Speaker 1: I think there was definitely some back and forth about
- 4:26Speaker 1: whether we should do it or not. I was sitting
- 4:28Speaker 1: there the whole time. I was like, guys, you're not
- 4:30Speaker 1: trusting me. This is going to be a moment. Trust me,
- 4:32Speaker 1: trust me, bro. Yeah, and we did. I was definitely
- 4:34Speaker 1: worried about it. It took some convincing. It went really well.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And then we got back on a plane. But I
- 4:39Speaker 1: couldn't believe that you didn't do any rehearsal. You hadn't
- 4:43Speaker 1: seen the stage in person. Nope. Because they build the
- 4:45Speaker 1: stage in the middle of the stadium, like in minutes,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and then you're just up there. And you crushed it.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Thank you. I just kind of was like, well, I
- 4:54Speaker 1: have the best excuse if this doesn't go well. I
- 4:56Speaker 1: literally couldn't be here. It was impressive. If it goes well,
- 4:59Speaker 1: then you get a lot of flowers and people are like, wow,
- 5:03Speaker 1: how'd you do that? Either way, a win-win scenario. One
- 5:06Speaker 1: of the other things that was sort of a last
- 5:07Speaker 1: minute thing was our wardrobe. We decided to wear these
- 5:10Speaker 1: Letterman jackets that we had made with the JB crest,
- 5:14Speaker 1: the new crest, and then our names on the back
- 5:17Speaker 1: and certain numbers. I just went with my Like, my birthday,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I didn't know we were going with, like, you guys
- 5:23Speaker 1: went with... Well, everyone thinks that they're Easter eggs for something.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And listen, they may be. Oh.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Oh.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You went with your birthday, Joe? Yeah. See, Joe's playing
- 5:32Speaker 1: the game of, he's making you think it was a nonchalant,
- 5:34Speaker 1: inconsequential thing. But in fact, they could mean something. They
- 5:38Speaker 1: could mean something special. We'll put it somehow into the
- 5:44Speaker 1: next album rollout. You'll never know. Yep. We'll figure it out. Yeah, exactly.
- 5:48Speaker 1: We're going to be selling the jackets, though. That's one thing.
- 5:50Speaker 1: We are making our own version to sell to the
- 5:52Speaker 1: fans so we can show up at the shows. Of
- 5:54Speaker 1: the Letterman jackets? Yeah. That's great. Which is sort of
- 5:57Speaker 1: a response to the reaction to them. Yeah, I think
- 6:00Speaker 1: we should bring them as part of the looks in
- 6:02Speaker 1: the upcoming tour as well. Literally just text about that
- 6:05Speaker 1: with the team. I love that. Look at us. Kevin
- 6:07Speaker 1: doesn't read my texts when I send them. I was
- 6:10Speaker 1: actually preparing, to be honest, I was preparing dinner for tonight.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Are you making your famous steak? I am literally doing
- 6:15Speaker 1: the full thing. It's prepped upstairs, so I'm doing that.
- 6:18Speaker 1: The girls were like, Dad, you're home for two nights,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and would you please make your steak? So I was like, yes.
- 6:23Speaker 1: You're gone for two nights because you're going where? We
- 6:26Speaker 1: are going to celebrate... two people that I love very
- 6:30Speaker 1: dearly birthdays, Nick Jonas and my wife, Danielle Jonas. Nice.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It's pretty wild. So this will be your, or it's
- 6:37Speaker 1: like 16 bedrooms. It's something crazy like that.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Wow. Got a lazy river in it.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Doesn't it?
- 6:42Speaker 1: It's got a lazy river. That's cool. You gotta, you
- 6:44Speaker 1: gotta post a lot. You have lots of posts. I'm
- 6:47Speaker 1: going to post the people need to see what we
- 6:48Speaker 1: got going on at the house. I will post MTV cribs.
- 6:53Speaker 1: So here's the thing. We all leave tomorrow. We get
- 6:55Speaker 1: a little mini vacation. Um, Danny's birthday, my birthday following
- 7:00Speaker 1: this week. And so it's really nice for us all
- 7:01Speaker 1: to kind of have a little break together before we
- 7:05Speaker 1: go off and start this tour, which begins in days,
- 7:08Speaker 1: mere days. It's the second time during this podcast in
- 7:11Speaker 1: the last five minutes I've said mere something. Nice. Mere
- 7:15Speaker 1: is a cool word.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Clock it.
- 7:17Speaker 1: We start the tour in a few days. That's right.
- 7:19Speaker 1: We've got an incredible kind of group of support acts
- 7:24Speaker 1: that are coming out with us.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:25Speaker 1: We've got some extras. Yeah, it's great. We just announced
- 7:28Speaker 1: Jamie Miller. He's got a massive hit right now with
- 7:31Speaker 1: Baby Dolls coming out on the tour for, I think,
- 7:33Speaker 1: four stops. It'll be so fun to have him out there.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Massive fan of his voice in this song. Are you
- 7:38Speaker 1: going to do the dance? I think we should talk
- 7:41Speaker 1: about that offline and see if we're ready for it.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Of course, we have Franklin Jonas, our dearly beloved brother
- 7:48Speaker 1: who I had a funny dream about last night. I'll
- 7:50Speaker 1: tell you about offline as well. And Mike DeLisa, DJ DeLisa. And, uh, our, our,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I can't say favorite, but our, our, our new friend and, um,
- 8:04Speaker 1: you know, someone we're so thrilled is going to be
- 8:05Speaker 1: on this tour with us. Uh, his, his first arena tour. Um,
- 8:09Speaker 1: he's having a crazy moment blowing up all over the world,
- 8:12Speaker 1: starting with, uh, really two podcasts, one in Australia, one
- 8:15Speaker 1: here in the U S that went viral, viral moments.
- 8:17Speaker 1: And then, uh, his music is starting to just absolutely
- 8:20Speaker 1: blow up and, and he's just going to be a
- 8:22Speaker 1: massive star in a matter of mere minutes. Near minutes.
- 8:26Speaker 1: He's kicking off with us on this tour, supporting us
- 8:30Speaker 1: on many, many dates. And he's actually here today, our guest.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Magnus Farrell. Magnus. We're so
- 8:39Speaker 1: happy to have you on the pod today. Thank you
- 8:41Speaker 1: for coming this way.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Yeah, so happy to be here.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Kevin Jonas, he's not currently with us. He's making steaks
- 8:46Speaker 1: for his family.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Oh, are they on the grill right now?
- 8:50Speaker 1: They're not on the program. They're prepping. I fully seasoned
- 8:53Speaker 1: and got everything sorted, and it's just waiting for us
- 8:56Speaker 1: to be done talking.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Magnus, do you cook? Very, like, at a college level.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Although, you know what? College cooking is such a thing,
- 9:04Speaker 1: I feel like. What was your go-to in college then?
- 9:07Speaker 2: Just, like, really unseasoned eggs.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Sounds delicious. Scrambled. That's pretty much what I had in mind. No.
- 9:16Speaker 1: um you are coming on tour with us i am
- 9:18Speaker 1: very excited about so excited uh we we first came
- 9:22Speaker 1: to know you and meet you on the set of
- 9:24Speaker 1: our christmas film yes yes i feel like we might
- 9:26Speaker 1: have met though before that at some point at some
- 9:29Speaker 1: probably when you were much younger yeah oh really no
- 9:31Speaker 1: yeah oh when i was like a little kid i
- 9:33Speaker 1: think so huh yeah are you just making that up
- 9:35Speaker 1: yes did was it believable did i do a good.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Job no i probably i just don't i probably i
- 9:41Speaker 2: feel like.
- 9:41Speaker 1: We met we've met the family many times so i
- 9:43Speaker 1: feel like it might we've crossed paths my backstory is
- 9:45Speaker 1: that i had actually i actually bought dinner with with
- 9:47Speaker 1: your parents and some friends of ours which was a
- 9:49Speaker 1: really nice thing for me to go and and your
- 9:52Speaker 1: parents are talking about your music and all this stuff
- 9:53Speaker 1: and then a couple weeks later i heard some of
- 9:55Speaker 1: the music and and i think it was like a
- 9:57Speaker 1: month after that you guys were on set for the
- 9:58Speaker 1: movie and for those that don't know at the beginning
- 10:01Speaker 1: of the christmas movie um max's family is coming to
- 10:05Speaker 1: our show and you've got two brothers yes well so
- 10:07Speaker 1: it was a really nice fun thing the synergy of
- 10:09Speaker 1: like you know the three brothers there and it's a
- 10:11Speaker 1: hilarious scene that kicked off the movie in the best
- 10:13Speaker 1: way possible and then soon after that um you know,
- 10:16Speaker 1: we connected, listened to some of the music and, and
- 10:18Speaker 1: it worked out to have you join me on, on
- 10:20Speaker 1: my tour that I did. I forgot you guys did
- 10:23Speaker 1: that so much.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Let's talk about what's happened in your life in like
- 10:26Speaker 1: the last couple of months. Cause it's pretty mind blowing.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So you've got two viral moments right between this, this
- 10:32Speaker 1: podcast in New Zealand or Australia.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And then one here in the U S that blew up. Um,
- 10:38Speaker 1: and what's so great about this is that it, it,
- 10:41Speaker 1: it's moments like these where, you kind of least expect
- 10:44Speaker 1: things to pop off where now audiences can be reached
- 10:47Speaker 1: in so many different ways. And I think it was
- 10:49Speaker 1: within days after that, the streams blew up. Everything just
- 10:54Speaker 1: happened for you and we couldn't be more proud and
- 10:57Speaker 1: excited and.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Thrilled for you.
- 10:59Speaker 1: What's this kind of meteoric rise been like here in
- 11:02Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks?
- 11:03Speaker 2: I mean, it's just like, it's kind of like what
- 11:04Speaker 2: you said.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Like if I had told myself a year ago that
- 11:09Speaker 4: a podcast with Michelle Obama was the reason why all
- 11:12Speaker 4: the music stuff worked out I probably like I would
- 11:15Speaker 4: have slapped myself in the face but no it's just
- 11:19Speaker 4: so cool that that uh the internet can kind of
- 11:22Speaker 4: have that effect and like have that impact on my
- 11:26Speaker 4: career and it's insane how much everything's changed and here
- 11:29Speaker 4: we are and I don't know it's like everything All
- 11:32Speaker 4: my dreams have come true, so super sick.
- 11:35Speaker 1: That's so great. This will be your first proper tour.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, like my first proper, proper tour.
- 11:39Speaker 1: So what have you been doing to prepare? Oh, I'm excited, yeah.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Not the boring stuff like rehearsals. What have you been doing?
- 11:47Speaker 1: The packing, what's going on there? Are we aware of
- 11:49Speaker 1: bus rules?
- 11:51Speaker 2: What's the... Wait, wait, wait. No, I don't know the
- 11:53Speaker 2: bus rules yet.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Give me some comments. Oh, there's a couple bus rules.
- 11:56Speaker 1: We have a fun game. We got bus rules. How
- 11:59Speaker 1: many people are we talking about on the bus right now?
- 12:02Speaker 1: How many people?
- 12:02Speaker 2: I know it fits 12.
- 12:04Speaker 1: It fits 12 legally. That doesn't always mean you need 12.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Right, but I might have to.
- 12:09Speaker 1: And question, have you toured on a tour bus before? No. Okay,
- 12:12Speaker 1: so it's a first. Breaking it down for you, there's
- 12:16Speaker 1: front lounge and there's back lounge typically, unless you get
- 12:18Speaker 1: a bed. There's like a primary space for, are you
- 12:22Speaker 1: going to do the bed or your new bunk? You're
- 12:23Speaker 1: about 6'3, right? Yeah. Okay, we're going to put you
- 12:26Speaker 1: in a bed.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Okay.
- 12:28Speaker 1: You might not have that opportunity. I don't think that's...
- 12:30Speaker 1: What do you mean I don't have the opportunity? You
- 12:31Speaker 1: might need all the bunks for the crew and the band.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I'm okay with being in a bunk, Elliot.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Bunks is the vibe in general. I will say you
- 12:39Speaker 1: sleep better in a bunk than you do in a bed. Really?
- 12:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Our friend Marshmello, he had a tough time on the tour.
- 12:45Speaker 1: He was like, how are you guys doing this? And
- 12:46Speaker 1: we're like, we just opt for the bunk. The Jonas
- 12:48Speaker 1: Brothers are... Unlike the Farrell brothers in that we are
- 12:52Speaker 1: vertically challenged. And so the bus is very comfortable for us.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It might not be.
- 12:57Speaker 2: You guys know I'm shorter than all my younger brothers now?
- 13:00Speaker 3: Really?
- 13:01Speaker 2: I'm shorter than them now.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Well, your parents are pretty tall. You're shorter than them now.
- 13:04Speaker 1: So it makes sense. Were you taller than them?
- 13:06Speaker 2: I was at least taller than the youngest one.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Now he's... That's kind of what we're dealing with our
- 13:12Speaker 1: younger brother, frankly. He's just kind of bigger than us. Damn.
- 13:16Speaker 1: So you literally look up to them now? Yeah. Are
- 13:19Speaker 1: they pumped for you? I mean, yeah, they're excited. What
- 13:23Speaker 1: are your brothers into?
- 13:24Speaker 4: Matias is, he just finished his first acting role, like
- 13:29Speaker 4: lead acting role. And that's, I don't know when it
- 13:31Speaker 4: comes out, but he's in a movie, which is super cool.
- 13:33Speaker 4: I'm super excited for him. He's also like balancing school
- 13:36Speaker 4: and college. He's a sophomore in college doing all that.
- 13:40Speaker 4: And then Axel, dude, he's like, He's now like 6'5
- 13:44Speaker 4: and is a hooper. I've thrown him lobs.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Wow. I've never thrown or caught a lob in my life.
- 13:50Speaker 4: No way.
- 13:51Speaker 1: That, damn. That's impressive. Okay, back to bus rules.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:54Speaker 1: Thank you for the updates and shout out to the bros.
- 13:56Speaker 1: You guys are awesome. Congrats on everything.
- 13:57Speaker 4: T.S.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Axel.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Okay. Congrats on the lobs. These are some tour bus
- 14:01Speaker 1: do's and don'ts. Some of them seem pretty obvious and,
- 14:04Speaker 1: you know, the answer will just be, yeah, you should
- 14:06Speaker 1: do that or not. And we're here to provide any advice. Great.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Please, I need all of it.
- 14:11Speaker 1: There's always stories involved.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So number one, eating someone else. Oh, hold on. I
- 14:16Speaker 1: got a sound bite for this.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Number one would be eating someone else's food if it's
- 14:21Speaker 1: not yours. Let's clarify. Or if you, and there's a guy, JT,
- 14:24Speaker 1: he's in the other room, and the reason he's not
- 14:26Speaker 1: in this room right now is because He did this.
- 14:29Speaker 1: He did this. He did do this. He was put
- 14:31Speaker 1: in bus court. He was put in bus court.
- 14:34Speaker 2: So here's the background.
- 14:35Speaker 1: The question actually is eating someone else's bus food. The
- 14:39Speaker 1: distinction is that after a show, your tour manager will
- 14:42Speaker 1: get bus food. And it's you order from any Chili's
- 14:46Speaker 1: or Applebee's or Buffalo Wild Wings. Whatever fried location they have.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And it shows up in bags on the tour bus.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Do you have any dietary restrictions?
- 14:54Speaker 2: Penicillin.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Me too bro you guys are no way i'm oxacillin
- 14:58Speaker 1: do you get the spots i get the thing where
- 15:00Speaker 1: your throat closes up you can't breathe no no no
- 15:02Speaker 1: i just got that yeah i get the thing where
- 15:04Speaker 1: i die.
- 15:04Speaker 3: So mine's not as bad but yeah yeah yeah and
- 15:08Speaker 3: shellfish okay no yeah so i mean i everyone's like
- 15:12Speaker 3: oh no i'm so sorry i'm like i don't know
- 15:13Speaker 3: i don't know what that's like so can't feel bad
- 15:16Speaker 3: for me it's.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Okay yeah okay no you've had shellfish before that's how
- 15:19Speaker 1: you found out you were allergic Oh yeah. So like,
- 15:21Speaker 1: you know what it tastes like. But I don't really
- 15:22Speaker 1: remember it now. You know, it's been so long. It's
- 15:24Speaker 1: been so long. Okay. Eating someone else's bus food, even
- 15:26Speaker 1: if it, uh, even if yours didn't make it. Oh.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Or if you leave it out, that doesn't necessarily. Exactly.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Is this like a labeling thing?
- 15:35Speaker 4: No.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Well, yeah. There's a label on the food. Someone wrote
- 15:38Speaker 1: in Sharpie. Unless you get pizza. Unless you get pizza.
- 15:40Speaker 2: That's for the table.
- 15:41Speaker 1: That's fine. Community food. Um, but okay. Next one. Rules
- 15:44Speaker 1: when a wife or girlfriend is on tour bus. Oh,
- 15:45Speaker 1: that's great. Oh, this is like conversation. This is more
- 15:48Speaker 1: like what? It has to be established. This is kind
- 15:52Speaker 1: of two sounds. This one and this one. Wife or
- 15:56Speaker 1: girlfriend or boyfriend or husband as well. Yeah, totally.
- 16:01Speaker 2: I feel like it's a lot of common sense stuff, no?
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but people don't always think. True. Can I hear
- 16:10Speaker 1: any stories behind this? I don't really know what the
- 16:13Speaker 1: rule is here. What's the rules? The rules, you have
- 16:15Speaker 1: to establish the rule. You just gave an opinion. It's
- 16:18Speaker 1: more like an opinion. Well, first of all, if you're
- 16:19Speaker 1: a boss. Oh, you're saying if you're like, hey, you're
- 16:21Speaker 1: allowed to have a friend or not. We're asking you.
- 16:24Speaker 1: What's your take on this? Do you think that everyone
- 16:27Speaker 1: should present, hey, I'm going to have my partner, my
- 16:30Speaker 1: person around for these dates? And it's sort of like, yeah, cool.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Or is it like, what's the vibes?
- 16:36Speaker 4: I feel like if you have any suspicion that inviting
- 16:40Speaker 4: a friend or a partner is going to substantially change
- 16:44Speaker 4: the dynamic that you already have.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Then you just should not be. They shouldn't be.
- 16:50Speaker 1: No one night stand on a tour bus. Correct.
- 16:54Speaker 2: No, I feel like.
- 16:55Speaker 1: If you're like, hey, Susie or Ricardo is going to
- 16:58Speaker 1: stop by. What are these names? I don't know. These
- 17:01Speaker 1: are my fictional characters. Sounds like 1950s. They're both gorgeous.
- 17:05Speaker 1: It's like sitcom stars. They're going to come by and
- 17:08Speaker 1: be like, oh, we love them. Yeah, of course. But
- 17:10Speaker 1: if it's like, I just met somebody, that's not the vibe. Okay,
- 17:12Speaker 1: solving the snoring problem. If someone in the bus, one
- 17:15Speaker 1: of the 12 people in the bunks is snoring.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I thought about this. I was thinking about this.
- 17:18Speaker 1: How do you do it? I think it's a solid
- 17:20Speaker 1: joke combo being like, Magnus, wow, that nose works.
- 17:24Speaker 2: You were shaking the bus.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Yeah, like, wow, the bus wasn't even on. If it's
- 17:28Speaker 1: your boy and you're on a tour bus, you can
- 17:31Speaker 1: make a joke. Just shame him.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Shame.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Shame.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Or just be like, guys, get everybody a tour gift
- 17:38Speaker 1: and you got everybody anti-snoring devices. What's the sleep thing?
- 17:42Speaker 1: Breathe right.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I had a method.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Let's hear it.
- 17:45Speaker 4: It's kind of bad, but me and my brother used
- 17:47Speaker 4: to share a room and he used to snore.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I used to just take his face and shake his face.
- 17:53Speaker 1: You can do that.
- 17:53Speaker 2: And it worked every time.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Oh, there you go. Yeah. Well, I like that. It's
- 17:57Speaker 1: an option.
- 17:57Speaker 2: And he never knew. He never knew.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Oh, this is probably the number one rule. It's in
- 18:03Speaker 1: the rule. Going number one, number two on the bus.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Or number three. I've heard about this one.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't want to do that. Yeah. Unless the
- 18:11Speaker 1: bus driver tells you it's fine, which is... Because they
- 18:13Speaker 1: might have a grinder. They did once to me. I
- 18:16Speaker 1: looked at him and was like, you're trying to test me. Yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 1: number twos are not allowed on the bus. And for
- 18:21Speaker 1: those that are the listener at home or wherever they...
- 18:24Speaker 1: I always say at home. Yeah. I'm assuming they listen
- 18:26Speaker 1: to this at home. Yeah. They're just sat on their
- 18:28Speaker 1: couch listening to it. Oh, at the gym. At the
- 18:30Speaker 1: gym is good. The reason why is because... You're all
- 18:33Speaker 1: in a moving vehicle, essentially, and the pipes are tight. Well,
- 18:37Speaker 1: there's no pipes. It's a collection container. I don't think
- 18:39Speaker 1: that's it. I think it just sits in this container.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And then they dump it out. And then smell into
- 18:44Speaker 1: the bus that everyone's living in.
- 18:46Speaker 4: The family went on an RV trip in a Cruise America.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Oh, fun. Oh, how was that?
- 18:53Speaker 2: It was like five of us and we all had to,
- 18:55Speaker 2: but that was also our rule.
- 18:57Speaker 1: And did you, did, did you follow this rule or
- 19:00Speaker 1: was there exceptions?
- 19:01Speaker 4: I was like, I was the one to establish that rule.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I did not let anybody.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Smart. Well, there you go.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:07Speaker 1: It's got to smell nice. Catch it together. We have, um,
- 19:10Speaker 1: I would bring, I brought incense on the last tour.
- 19:13Speaker 1: That was helpful. Nice. You got to be careful where
- 19:15Speaker 1: you put it. Cause it's, it's a flammable.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Yeah. object in a moving vehicle. Next one is partying
- 19:20Speaker 1: in the bus. What are the rules of someone who's sleeping? Look,
- 19:22Speaker 1: if they're sleeping, that's their choice. Just make sure the
- 19:24Speaker 1: sliding doors are closed.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Oh, there's sliding doors to the, yeah, there's usually.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Automatic sliding doors and you can separate the bunks to
- 19:31Speaker 1: the hang, but it's kind of classy. Just like, don't,
- 19:35Speaker 1: It's classless. I don't know what the word would be.
- 19:37Speaker 1: When you leave it open when people are sleeping. If
- 19:39Speaker 1: you guys are hanging in the front. Oh, you got
- 19:40Speaker 1: to close it. You got to close it. Let the
- 19:41Speaker 1: person sleep. You got to close it down. Usually the crew, too,
- 19:43Speaker 1: also are on tour.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Is it pretty soundproof?
- 19:45Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 19:47Speaker 1: And especially because there's this low hum. You're sleeping by the.
- 19:50Speaker 3: The vibration Yeah there's this low hum.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Of the generator As it's driving And you kind of
- 19:53Speaker 1: get swayed Forever It's, it's fantastic.
- 19:57Speaker 2: That's the end of our game.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Do's and don'ts. It's more of a conversation.
- 20:00Speaker 2: I learned so much.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Um, you mentioned your family. Now your father is Will Ferrell.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yes.
- 20:06Speaker 1: He's one of our favorite actors of all time and,
- 20:08Speaker 1: and come to be one of our favorite people that
- 20:10Speaker 1: we've had the pleasure of now working with and getting
- 20:13Speaker 1: to hang with. Um, your family is planning on attending
- 20:17Speaker 1: some of these shows. Okay.
- 20:18Speaker 2: That's great.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Great to hear. So we're going to see them there.
- 20:20Speaker 1: And you mentioned the clip with Michelle Obama, which went viral.
- 20:24Speaker 1: your dad very proudly, as a bunch of dads, it
- 20:26Speaker 1: really touched my heart, I'm sure it did with you guys,
- 20:28Speaker 1: but proudly showing Mrs. Obama your music. And that was
- 20:32Speaker 1: one of the moments that really kind of kicked things off. Now,
- 20:35Speaker 1: I know that at a few different points in interviews
- 20:38Speaker 1: and other places, you've actually embraced the, quote, Nepo Baby title,
- 20:42Speaker 1: which I think has been a really graceful way to
- 20:43Speaker 1: handle it when so many sort of try to avoid it.
- 20:46Speaker 1: It is a fact that your dad is who he is,
- 20:48Speaker 1: but it certainly doesn't define who you are as a
- 20:51Speaker 1: musician and hasn't been... that hasn't been the charge or
- 20:54Speaker 1: the thing that leading it. Um, what's that been like
- 20:56Speaker 1: for you to sort of like navigate that conversation? And,
- 20:59Speaker 1: you know, as you're coming into this massive success now, having,
- 21:03Speaker 1: having your family a part of that.
- 21:04Speaker 4: I think that's all people really want when these situations
- 21:07Speaker 4: come about is just to like acknowledge and then like
- 21:09Speaker 4: move on.
- 21:10Speaker 2: That's kind of all, that's all it is.
- 21:12Speaker 4: And, and anybody who still has an issue, they kind
- 21:14Speaker 4: of just, I just don't think they know and they
- 21:17Speaker 4: haven't taken the time to like look in and like
- 21:20Speaker 4: do the research. So, I mean, it's been pretty simple
- 21:23Speaker 4: to just, yeah, this is, he's my dad, whatever.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Like this is the music I make. And I think
- 21:28Speaker 2: like if it was bad, like.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I wouldn't be here. It is your fault. That is
- 21:32Speaker 1: your parents.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Correct.
- 21:33Speaker 1: But the entertainment genes go back a lot further, which
- 21:37Speaker 1: is part of the thing. Your grandfather is a jazz musician?
- 21:39Speaker 2: Yeah, dude. Lee Farrell, he played with the Righteous Brothers. Wow.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah. So sick. Yeah. Yeah. That's amazing. And so growing up,
- 21:48Speaker 1: were you listening to him play? Were you playing with
- 21:50Speaker 1: him or? Yeah, he would like, well, it was just
- 21:53Speaker 1: little things. He would just turn on the organ and
- 21:56Speaker 1: be like, go mess with it. And I'd be messing
- 21:59Speaker 1: with it and doing stuff. And like, then he'd come
- 22:02Speaker 1: in and show me some stuff and then leave the room.
- 22:03Speaker 1: And then as I got older and I was playing
- 22:05Speaker 1: more piano, then like we'd be like, yeah, let's play blues.
- 22:08Speaker 2: And then he'd play the left hand. I play the
- 22:10Speaker 2: right hand. And then.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Cool.
- 22:12Speaker 4: When there were some weddings, like I got to play
- 22:15Speaker 4: and sing with him and he'd play saxophone and it
- 22:17Speaker 4: just like little moments where. Wow.
- 22:19Speaker 2: That's incredible.
- 22:20Speaker 4: But it was always natural and it was like just fun. And, and,
- 22:23Speaker 4: and I think that was kind of his plan. Like
- 22:26Speaker 4: he was introducing the music in such a like wholesome way.
- 22:30Speaker 1: That's amazing. So that leads me to the next question.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Who are some of your favorite musicians? Are they jazz influence,
- 22:36Speaker 1: blues influence as well?
- 22:37Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, when I was in jazz band in
- 22:39Speaker 4: high school, we were doing a lot of like transcription stuff.
- 22:42Speaker 4: So I was like listening to Oscar Peterson and like
- 22:45Speaker 4: transcribing Bill Evans stuff and Miles Davis.
- 22:48Speaker 2: And then that turned into, I also had this weird.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Complex where I didn't want to listen to popular music
- 22:53Speaker 4: because I wanted to be niche.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I needed to be niche.
- 23:00Speaker 4: So like that turned into like Bruno major and, and,
- 23:03Speaker 4: and all this like R and B like Mac airs
- 23:05Speaker 4: was like my shit. Um, and then, yeah, then that
- 23:09Speaker 4: developed into like, wait, I like Quincy Jones that he'd,
- 23:12Speaker 4: he made pop music.
- 23:13Speaker 2: So then Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, all like the pop music.
- 23:17Speaker 4: And seeing the through line on how, you know, everybody's
- 23:20Speaker 4: influences are just like within their music and as that
- 23:24Speaker 4: develops and how everything's connected and, here we are with.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Yeah i feel like there's always that time yeah there's
- 23:30Speaker 1: always that time in like i guess high school for
- 23:33Speaker 1: us like where you're just like no i don't want
- 23:36Speaker 1: to listen to music that's popular yeah exactly my stuff
- 23:38Speaker 1: is i don't listen to the radio like yeah they're
- 23:41Speaker 1: not sellouts like evan and i would always listen to
- 23:44Speaker 1: go to these punk rock shows when we're like so
- 23:45Speaker 1: proud of these bands that we saw in this small
- 23:47Speaker 1: venue not realizing when we started playing in those small
- 23:50Speaker 1: venues like Yeah, but you know what's nice? Playing in
- 23:52Speaker 1: a little bigger venue.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Yeah, right.
- 23:54Speaker 1: And also, like, the idea that more people listen to
- 23:55Speaker 1: your music and consuming it, and it's part of their
- 23:58Speaker 1: story and what they're going through, like, that's the dream, right?
- 24:01Speaker 4: Right, and, like, when you think about it, like, pop
- 24:03Speaker 4: music is literally just pop music. Like, you can define
- 24:05Speaker 4: it and make it whatever you want as long as
- 24:08Speaker 4: it ends up appealing to a mass of human beings.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:12Speaker 2: So it kind of doesn't matter. It's like, whatever.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Which is what's happening right now with the sleep talking,
- 24:16Speaker 1: which is blowing up. And it's been compared... by a
- 24:20Speaker 1: lot to people like Timberlake and Robin Thicke, um, music
- 24:23Speaker 1: that was big influence on me too. And my solo stuff.
- 24:26Speaker 1: And what does that comparison feel like to, to have,
- 24:29Speaker 1: you know, people calling out, not just your voice, but
- 24:30Speaker 1: the sound of the music. There's, there's obviously a real
- 24:33Speaker 1: R and B sense behind it. And, and the blues background,
- 24:35Speaker 1: jazz background makes sense.
- 24:37Speaker 2: No, I mean, it's flattering.
- 24:38Speaker 4: I mean, that's the stuff that was on the radio
- 24:40Speaker 4: when I was like going to school and like listening
- 24:42Speaker 4: to stuff with my family in the car.
- 24:44Speaker 2: And, and I don't know, it's.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Like, it, it, They're weirdly, I feel like there would
- 24:50Speaker 4: be pressure, but I don't feel like there is just
- 24:52Speaker 4: because it's stuff I like to make. And as long
- 24:55Speaker 4: as I'm making stuff I enjoyed listening to, then that's
- 24:58Speaker 4: kind of all that matters.
- 24:59Speaker 1: So correct me if I'm wrong, but you made a
- 25:01Speaker 1: lot of this stuff. Was it in Sweden or you
- 25:04Speaker 1: speak Swedish? I speak Swedish. I made some of it
- 25:07Speaker 1: in Sweden. I remember like a while back you were
- 25:10Speaker 1: out there. Your mom is Swedish and you guys go
- 25:12Speaker 1: pretty much every summer, right?
- 25:13Speaker 2: Every summer.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Yep.
- 25:14Speaker 1: That's so cool. Summers in Sweden are magical.
- 25:15Speaker 2: You guys got to pull out, bro.
- 25:17Speaker 1: By the way, the thing that I love about it
- 25:18Speaker 1: is that the days never end. I mean, it's like
- 25:20Speaker 1: you'll be at dinner at, you know, nine and the
- 25:22Speaker 1: sun's still out. And then at 11 or 12, it
- 25:25Speaker 1: like just kind of dips around the horizon.
- 25:26Speaker 2: And it comes back at 3.45 in the morning.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Yeah. It's pretty wild. I've had a few late nights there.
- 25:33Speaker 1: And I was there for, there's fantastic songwriters in Sweden.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:37Speaker 1: And, you know, you go do these recording sessions and
- 25:40Speaker 1: then it's like you rap like a, We wrapped at
- 25:42Speaker 1: like 10 or 11. They're like, all right, let's go
- 25:43Speaker 1: to dinner. I was like, okay, cool. Sun's up. Cause
- 25:46Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know. Yeah. And then we went
- 25:47Speaker 1: to a bar and then I went to a club
- 25:49Speaker 1: and we left and the sun was still up. And I,
- 25:52Speaker 1: that's tough on my brain. A never ending midnight sun.
- 25:55Speaker 1: And everyone's beautiful.
- 25:56Speaker 4: And they're also just so jolly. They're so jolly that
- 25:59Speaker 4: it's summer and the sun is out because.
- 26:01Speaker 2: The winters are brutal.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it's brutal.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Brutal.
- 26:04Speaker 1: So tough.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Dark at 2.45 p.m.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 26:07Speaker 1: So pick the... If you can choose, go in summer.
- 26:10Speaker 2: Agreed, agreed.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Is there a city on the run that you're looking
- 26:12Speaker 1: forward to playing?
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yeah, like Atlanta.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Why Atlanta?
- 26:15Speaker 2: I've been there once, and I wish I could have
- 26:18Speaker 2: spent more time there.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a great city.
- 26:20Speaker 4: I think it's like a really underrated music city.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I mean, it's not underrated, but I feel like you
- 26:24Speaker 2: think about L.A. and Nashville.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:26Speaker 2: And then Atlanta's like.
- 26:27Speaker 1: All the greats that came from Atlanta. Yeah, super sick.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Especially for the style of music that you're going for.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Yeah. It's exciting.
- 26:32Speaker 2: It's so fun. I'm so pumped, guys.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Boston is one of my favorite cities to play.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:36Speaker 1: We kick off the tour there.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I'm very excited for that. And... You also have an
- 26:40Speaker 1: EP coming out the same week. It's a huge week
- 26:42Speaker 1: for you.
- 26:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 1: It's going to be a big, big week. They're going
- 26:45Speaker 1: to keep you busy.
- 26:46Speaker 2: How come you like Boston so much?
- 26:48Speaker 1: We just have a history of playing shows there in
- 26:50Speaker 1: the early days. Cause it's, it's, you know, it was
- 26:52Speaker 1: driving distance. So we could get in the van and
- 26:55Speaker 1: trailer with the band and, and go up the East
- 26:57Speaker 1: coast and, and play basically school auditoriums all throughout the
- 27:02Speaker 1: new England and, uh, the tri-state area. And it just
- 27:06Speaker 1: became a really great foundation for us with our fans. And,
- 27:09Speaker 1: You know, we've had so many great memories playing the
- 27:11Speaker 1: TD Garden, Fenway.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Wow.
- 27:14Speaker 1: And it's just kind of a magical spot for us.
- 27:17Speaker 1: And to kick off the tour proper part there is,
- 27:20Speaker 1: I think, going to be the perfect place for it.
- 27:22Speaker 2: It's going to be so sick.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Now, we are days away from beginning.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:26Speaker 1: What are you doing for your last minute prep? You know,
- 27:29Speaker 1: you've got to get your stuff all ready.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Close up the house a little bit. What are you
- 27:32Speaker 1: doing at this moment to get to prep?
- 27:34Speaker 2: Got a bunch of, like.
- 27:37Speaker 2: So many vocal items that.
- 27:38Speaker 4: I didn't even know I would ever need that I'm
- 27:41Speaker 4: going to get a little bag for. Oh, nice.
- 27:44Speaker 1: When you say vocal items, you mean like.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Like a nebulizer and like a.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 27:49Speaker 2: And like cough drops and like.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Yep.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Throat coat. Manuka honey drops.
- 27:56Speaker 1: What are the drops that you guys do? I don't know.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I feel like it's a secret. You guys got any recs? Yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 1: Nick's got some super drops. I don't know. It could
- 28:03Speaker 1: just be a placebo thing because... It's real. Whatever it is,
- 28:07Speaker 1: it works. You guys sound great. Especially when you're like
- 28:10Speaker 1: vocally tired. Also, the tough thing is like every show
- 28:13Speaker 1: feels like a celebration. So you want to go have a,
- 28:14Speaker 1: whether you drink or not, but you want to go
- 28:16Speaker 1: hang out and celebrate, have a drink with your band
- 28:19Speaker 1: or you're wide awake after a show. And obviously you're familiar,
- 28:23Speaker 1: but then you're like, Oh, I have a show tomorrow
- 28:25Speaker 1: and I'm need to get, you wake up and you're like, Oh,
- 28:27Speaker 1: my voice is a little tired. I do what I do.
- 28:28Speaker 1: And then you're kind of just stressing. And it's like,
- 28:30Speaker 1: here's this magic drops. And I'm like, I can sing again.
- 28:33Speaker 1: they're incredible one of my co-stars from this proper show
- 28:36Speaker 1: that i did last year great singer she was like
- 28:38Speaker 1: oh i i've got the tricks we had an early
- 28:40Speaker 1: morning um performance coming up today show so finished the
- 28:44Speaker 1: show at 11 p.m or 10 30 or something that
- 28:47Speaker 1: night had to be up at 3 30 right to
- 28:49Speaker 1: go sing on the today show and and this show
- 28:52Speaker 1: is a very challenging show to sing for me and
- 28:54Speaker 1: and so They're all natural drops that I'll send to you.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I'll shoot you texts. And this episode is brought to
- 29:00Speaker 1: you by... All Natural Superhero Drops. It's just great. It's
- 29:04Speaker 1: got a bunch of natural ingredients in there that help
- 29:06Speaker 1: open up your voice, make you feel amazing. It might
- 29:08Speaker 1: be a placebo thing, but I think it does work.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Whatever works, right?
- 29:10Speaker 2: Placebo is real. Yeah, it is.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Okay, so we're days out. You've got your drops and
- 29:16Speaker 1: your cough drops and all the things. What is something about...
- 29:21Speaker 1: this tour that you, you feel like you're, you're feeling
- 29:24Speaker 1: a touch of anxiety about. And as, as you know,
- 29:28Speaker 1: veterans here, we would love to be able to.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Laundry, laundry, laundry, laundry. That's I've been thinking about that.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Smart.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:35Speaker 1: That is a tough thing. However, there are these, I've
- 29:37Speaker 1: got another product plug, but it's not a product. Please, please.
- 29:40Speaker 1: There's a, there's these laundry bags on Amazon that are there.
- 29:45Speaker 1: They've got like a scent proof thing. Really? You throw
- 29:48Speaker 1: it in there, you close it up. no smell and
- 29:50Speaker 1: it's nothing whoa do you enjoy doing laundry no.
- 29:53Speaker 4: I'm so i'm like so adhd i i'm a guy
- 29:57Speaker 4: who will put it in the wash and forget that
- 29:59Speaker 4: it's in the wash and then it smells worse than
- 30:01Speaker 4: it did before because it was wet for six hours.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Sometimes the uh the simple luxuries on on tour like
- 30:06Speaker 1: doing laundry is are can be tough yeah right so
- 30:09Speaker 1: willing to pay a little bit to have it you
- 30:11Speaker 1: know washed and then brought back to you might just
- 30:13Speaker 1: be worth it sometimes yeah yeah yeah There's also washing
- 30:17Speaker 1: and dryers in the venues.
- 30:19Speaker 4: Ah.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Because there's washing and dryers in the venues.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Oh.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Yeah. All right, we've got some questions from our lovely
- 30:24Speaker 1: Hey Jonas listeners. This is what people want to know.
- 30:27Speaker 1: The first is, what was movie night like in the
- 30:29Speaker 1: fair house growing up? What classics of your dad's did
- 30:33Speaker 1: you and the brothers watch and re-watch? Or not watch,
- 30:35Speaker 1: because you're like, we don't watch our dad's work.
- 30:37Speaker 2: We never would watch his stuff. He feels like weird.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Like I was talking to him about this the other
- 30:42Speaker 4: day and I was like, well, how do you, is
- 30:44Speaker 4: there ever a point where you like watched a full
- 30:47Speaker 4: movie and you didn't have any like criticisms about yourself?
- 30:51Speaker 2: And he's like, Oh my God, still to this day.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Like he'll look at himself in a cut and be like, man,
- 30:55Speaker 4: I hate my double chin there. Like why did they
- 30:58Speaker 4: choose this shot out of all the shots? And so, yeah,
- 31:01Speaker 4: I think that's kind of the reason we watched a
- 31:03Speaker 4: lot of like old classic movies. He'd like make us
- 31:06Speaker 4: sit down and like, train our attention spans through like
- 31:08Speaker 4: an alfred hitchcock you know whatever that's through the rear
- 31:12Speaker 4: view window i remember that one um and like just
- 31:16Speaker 4: old classics he loves his like chevy chase movies and
- 31:19Speaker 4: and whatnot but that's kind of what.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I look like okay let's see what else we got
- 31:23Speaker 1: your dad has said that he likes to loves to
- 31:25Speaker 1: prank you guys yeah among you and your brothers who's
- 31:27Speaker 1: the best prankster hmm I mean, you shaking your brother's
- 31:30Speaker 1: head when they're snoring is pretty Frank level.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Matias is pretty good.
- 31:36Speaker 4: He like, OK, for example, last night he was there
- 31:41Speaker 4: at the show. I can see him in the way
- 31:44Speaker 4: back and he's like pulling up photos of me trying
- 31:47Speaker 4: to get me to crack on stage, like horrendous pixelated,
- 31:52Speaker 4: like five 40. And like, and then like on some hits,
- 31:56Speaker 4: he knows the hits well enough that he starts like
- 31:58Speaker 4: conducting with his hands. And he's like this Goliath of
- 32:01Speaker 4: a man standing on the chair. Like that's the type
- 32:04Speaker 4: of shit he'll do to me just to try and
- 32:05Speaker 4: make me laugh.
- 32:06Speaker 1: So you need people like that.
- 32:08Speaker 2: It's great.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Also, we've got to say congrats on your VMA nomination. Yes,
- 32:13Speaker 1: of course. We wrap things up here with Magnus. That's
- 32:17Speaker 1: a huge moment. Are you going to be able to
- 32:20Speaker 1: go to the show?
- 32:21Speaker 2: No, I'll be there.
- 32:22Speaker 1: It's a great night. You'll have a great time. This
- 32:25Speaker 1: is a bowl of questions. They have nothing to do
- 32:27Speaker 1: with you or your career. They're just random, but we'd
- 32:29Speaker 1: love for you to answer some.
- 32:31Speaker 4: I've seen this. You guys are covering your face with this.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I'm tapped in. You are. You're wired in.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I'm wired.
- 32:40Speaker 4: If you ever had to enter a competitive eating contest,
- 32:44Speaker 4: what food would guarantee your victory?
- 32:46Speaker 1: Whoa. Nice.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Can I like be on an empty stomach? Like I'm hungry.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I'm like really hungry.
- 32:53Speaker 1: You can do it. You're going into competition prep.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Like, like California rolls, like sushi, California rolls.
- 32:59Speaker 1: If there was California rolls.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:01Speaker 2: It's kind of basic, but like it's a guilty pleasure, bro.
- 33:04Speaker 1: I would eat from where you may, you may, you
- 33:08Speaker 1: may heard it.
- 33:08Speaker 3: You may.
- 33:09Speaker 2: On Ventura.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Let's get this boy a sponsorship. Unlimited. California card for life.
- 33:16Speaker 4: I would not hate it if you sent me just
- 33:19Speaker 4: boxes of California rolls.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Opening night gift. We're so happy to have you on
- 33:24Speaker 1: the tour. Thrilled you came on the podcast. We're so excited.
- 33:28Speaker 1: We'll see you in a couple days.
