- 0:00Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers remind us all why we should never get back together
- 0:04with our exes. A bunch of dipshits are trying to make Deshaun Watson into a
- 0:07folk hero. And dear God, a bunch of feckless cowards actually protecting
- 0:12ESPN's vested interests in the SEC.
- 0:15Tanya, this whole fucking world is on fire, but let's have drinks and
- 0:19hang out with friends and talk sports. I definitely think we should
- 0:22do that, Cody. Why don't we start now?
- 0:31Welcome all. It is a Friday evening. You are amongst
- 0:35friends who have a lot to bitch and complain about today.
- 0:38The sports world is in a really unique place there, Tawny, even though we are
- 0:42going into the sports equinox month, October, my personal favorite
- 0:46time of the year. Major League Baseball is already on fire. We just finished the
- 0:49Wild Card Series. We got some really good football coming up for Week 4,
- 0:52which are really good matchups. Really good matchups. And honestly, I'm not
- 0:56saying this because I'm a fucking Raider fan, I am really excited for Raiders.
- 1:00The biggest— it's the biggest game, I think, in terms of just like the day.
- 1:03Like, that's the one everyone's gonna have their own. So excited about that. Uh,
- 1:06Dodgers opening up tomorrow. 4 Major League Baseball games tomorrow,
- 1:09which is gonna be an absolute blast. And I gotta tell you, the, the games
- 1:12and the matchups and the brackets that could turn into what I think could be
- 1:16some of the best fucking series we've ever seen, I'm really excited about. And of
- 1:19course the Protect ESPN's SEC Deal passed
- 1:23the Senate because fuck the Senate. We're going to be talking specifically about actual
- 1:27senators. I'm very upset. I was taken fucking aback. It's fucking embarrassing.
- 1:31Embarrassing shit. And we've stayed on it, but like, there's actually even more
- 1:35stuff that I hadn't considered about the whole thing. We're going to keep digging into
- 1:39it as long as it's on the table. We're going to keep digging into it.
- 1:42Cody, I have a question for you. Yes. How do you How
- 1:46do you realistically suspend an owner?
- 1:49I'll tell you exactly how to do it. I mean, I know, like, you know,
- 1:52you don't get to go to the games and be a part of it or
- 1:55whatever. You don't get to go and sit in a luxury box, right, for 6
- 1:59fucking weeks. And you know what? He's gonna learn his lesson.
- 2:03He's really gonna learn. He's gonna learn his lesson. No more.
- 2:06No more trailer park shenanigans. No more of this.
- 2:10No more of this. When you guys play the Cleveland Browns, you do not get
- 2:14to go to Ohio. No, he's not allowed to go to Ohio
- 2:17anymore. Congratulations, you're not allowed in Ohio. I think specifically the trailer
- 2:21parks. The fines are always so crazy. It's like, these are billionaires. Can you fine
- 2:25them something that actually fucking matters? They never care about these fines. Something unreal,
- 2:28man. Like when they fined Robert Kraft $1 million. Oh boy,
- 2:32that's a write-off, bro. Oh boy, it isn't even— that's— you actually weirdly did him
- 2:36a favor. Yeah, he's like, you know what, actually I didn't— it's better off I
- 2:39don't have that million dollars. I'll figure it out on my taxes. Yeah, there's,
- 2:42there's a lot to cover today. And yeah, the, the The Protect College Sports Act
- 2:46is the fucking most embarrassing thing on the fucking planet. I am just— I'm legitimately
- 2:49appalled by this fucking week. I'm also appalled by the senators
- 2:53that pushed it through. I'm appalled by certain senators that made the
- 2:57most fucking embarrassments of themselves this week that are spearheading this
- 3:00fucking thing. And I'm also appalled, sickened that they keep trying to
- 3:04say it's bipartisan. Fuck no, it's not bipartisan. I will say, based on the voting
- 3:08of the fucking— of who passed it through. Oh, I want the name of every
- 3:12Democrat. I got— I want every Democrat. I've got you. I'm gonna send him a
- 3:16fucking letter. You're gonna be very mad. I'm already mad. I— well, yeah,
- 3:19that's, that's very clear. Um, I also, when we
- 3:23get into it, you know, we are going to be talking a little WNBA.
- 3:26There was a lot of drama. Oh man, there's a lot of drama. And,
- 3:29uh, it's always around the same stuff. And, and we have some,
- 3:32some really interesting conversations happening around, uh,
- 3:35what's actually bringing in eyeballs. And so I'm excited
- 3:39to talk to you about that. I'm very excited to talk about it. I mean,
- 3:40literally as much as we get annoyed and pissed off about the things around sports,
- 3:43which is exceedingly easy, and not to mention the sports media world, because of course
- 3:47we're going to get into the Tony Romo of it all later, of which I
- 3:50didn't have much of a take on. But then all of a sudden you and
- 3:52I started talking about it about an hour ago, and it turns out we do
- 3:56have takes on it. We do. We do. As I was putting it in the
- 3:58right— I honestly didn't give a shit until we started talking about it. Yeah.
- 4:01Um, genuinely, I, I really do have like some,
- 4:05some legitimate thoughts about what's going on there. Um, because You know
- 4:08what, let's— we've, we've entered, we've, we've previewed enough. Why don't we
- 4:13get into headline number 1, which is really just, um, you know, getting into
- 4:16our Thursday night recap and then eventually previewing week 4. We'll start with
- 4:21the Pittsburgh Steelers versus the Cleveland Browns. Um,
- 4:25it's really funny because I told you, I think I said this before, we're doing
- 4:28like this like survivor pool. Yeah. Um, and a
- 4:32few of the players in the survivor pool you only get—
- 4:35you get one shot. As soon as you're out, you're out, right? Like, as soon
- 4:38as you pick wrong. So it was, you know, it started out with like however
- 4:41many dozens and dozens, like 70 people, and it's down to like 20, right?
- 4:44And we checked last night and 2 people had picked the Steelers to beat the
- 4:49Browns, or the Browns to beat the Steelers. I don't know which one. And I'm
- 4:51like, bold. You absolutely can never— you cannot
- 4:56ever make the mistake of picking an AFC North game.
- 4:59Never pick an AFC North game, no matter what you think is going to happen.
- 5:03Don't do it. Don't do it. The, the Browns could have been 0-10.
- 5:07I wouldn't pick them to beat the fucking Ravens. If you're in a survivor pool,
- 5:11pro tip, don't do that. In fact, I'm kind of like against picking
- 5:15any North team, AFC or NFC North. They're the most like very
- 5:19unpredictable divisions right now. The AFC West is pretty tough too sometimes,
- 5:22but like— or NFC West, sorry. The NFC West is, it is a little tricky.
- 5:27Um, they play each other super well. All division Avoid division games when
- 5:30you can, but specifically do not fuck around with the NFC—
- 5:33AFC North. It's just too much. Listen,
- 5:37the Browns won. There's a ton here that we have that we
- 5:41do have to discuss. The big sort of like drama
- 5:45of the game, which of course we're going to open with that because it's the
- 5:48most fun, is that I don't know if you guys knew this, but Mike McCarthy
- 5:51and Aaron Rodgers do not like each other. And this whole entire choice was insane.
- 5:54Fuck. It's like watching Ben Affleck marry J.Lo for a 3rd
- 5:58time. Like, stop it. Fucking knock it off. This doesn't work.
- 6:01And I think they get along better than— like, Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers don't
- 6:06like each other. They fucking hate each other. It's really fucking funny because,
- 6:09like, Rodgers was already there. He— and the crazy part is
- 6:13Rodgers loved Mike Tomlin. Mike Tomlin liked Rodgers.
- 6:17They got along great. They did. While he was building his Minecraft city,
- 6:20which was, by the way, delightful. I just learned why the
- 6:23Steelers haven't been to a Super Bowl in a while. The guy's out there building
- 6:26cities. Come on. But I'm also seeing the bright side on this. Hear me
- 6:30out. The bright side on this is Chicago. Do you really want a football stadium
- 6:33in your city? Hire Mike Tomlin. He will design it and it will get done.
- 6:37It'll have an aquarium. It'll have multiple aquariums.
- 6:41So during the first quarter, the game broadcast caught Rodgers yelling,
- 6:44what the fuck? And to call it the fuck or
- 6:48something like that, with Mike McCarthy appearing to fire back that his quarterback
- 6:52was a fucking asshole. Yes. Sorry, no bleeping on here.
- 6:56We're going to say it. Oh, what happened here? Mike McCarthy said
- 6:59communication sometimes is not the best choice of words, but Everybody's competing on the field.
- 7:03I think what's said on the field, the way I grew up in, in this
- 7:06game, usually stays on the field. Not on 4K, my guy. Not these days.
- 7:10McCarthy said in his postgame press conference when he was asked about the video of
- 7:13him and Rodgers cursing at each other, I understand that any negative communication on my
- 7:17part, I wish I wouldn't have used those words. Yeah,
- 7:22he didn't even say like, I shouldn't have yelled at
- 7:26him. No, no, didn't come close. He said I should have used different words when
- 7:30I was yelling at that fucking asshole. That's essentially what he's saying. Which is
- 7:35so beautiful. Um, my, my issue
- 7:39with Mike McCarthy— I've always had an agenda against Mike McCarthy because
- 7:43I think he's an over— I always thought he was an overrated coach. I could
- 7:45not believe, could not believe that he got the Dallas Cowboys job.
- 7:49I was very surprised. Like, I was shocked when he got that job. And then,
- 7:52so he, he has now been the head coach for the Green Bay
- 7:56Packers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Literally the Mount
- 7:59Rushmore Fucking teams. Are you like, add in like the
- 8:0349ers and like you are going to ask who do you think the 4th team
- 8:06is? Is it the 49ers? Yeah, I'm just trying to think because of the coaching
- 8:09pedigree, right? Because of the Bill Walsh of it all and like whatever. But like,
- 8:14what are we talking about? How is this man who is
- 8:17like mediocre at best as an offensive designer and objectively
- 8:21bad at game management? I don't— get me started,
- 8:24dude. What? Like, this is not—
- 8:28this relationship is not salvageable. No, it's not. But by the way, you think
- 8:32that relationship isn't salvageable? Whoever the fuck TJ Watt
- 8:36was yelling at last night over the fucking headset, likely their DC
- 8:39who came from the Raiders. Fucking great hire there. I got to tell
- 8:44you, that guy fucking must have gone into witness protection because
- 8:48TJ Watt— TJ Watt do something. I've never seen TJ Watt
- 8:51look that fucking pissed at not another team.
- 8:55And the Watts are nice. Yes, the Watts brothers, like, they're very
- 8:58well-liked in general. So like, you pissed off
- 9:03a, a guy who generally just seems to go out there, just ball out,
- 9:06and then go home completely. Um, the Browns
- 9:11are winning games. They are 3-1, and they look good.
- 9:15They do. Not— I mean, offensively, we're going to get into it,
- 9:19But like, it's really not— they're not winning
- 9:22the games in a typical way where we're like, oh, the offense is clicking on
- 9:25it. That game was defense and kicking. Yes. I'm going to read you a couple
- 9:28of things here. Denzel Ward's interception of Rodgers to open the second
- 9:32quarter completely turned the game around. Completely agree. The first of
- 9:363 Cleveland takeaways, Ward's pick came on the drive following the Steelers' opening
- 9:40possession march, in which they methodically worked down to a 7-0 lead.
- 9:44And like they were feeling themselves. So we get 3 takeaways.
- 9:50We get Carson Swesinger with 9 tackles,
- 9:53Sam Williams sack, 4 QB pressures. Isaiah McGuire,
- 9:563 tackles, a sack, 4 QB pressures. Special teams can't be overlooked.
- 10:02The, the, the punting was insane in this game.
- 10:06What a fucking statement. But is it though? Because like,
- 10:09you know, when you watch those games where you're like, this dude is pinning everything
- 10:13inside like the 5. Like, it makes a massive difference when you have elite
- 10:17punting. And, uh, Corey Bjorkes, uh, did,
- 10:20you know, his performance on 4 punts. He was averaging
- 10:2462.8 yards with one down on the Steelers' 1-yard
- 10:28line. And like, we're— this is, this is the kind of football that
- 10:33never gets played by the Browns, right? Like,
- 10:36everybody, all, all 3 units are working pretty well. Yeah.
- 10:40The Browns have a ton of receiving yards by rookie receivers because
- 10:43their receiver receiving room is all rookies. So like,
- 10:47that's great. Like, they're doing their job there. They're leading the league
- 10:52in that. So having
- 10:55said all that, I do— before you weigh in,
- 10:59because we're going to do our best not to give their quarterback credit because fuck
- 11:03Deshaun Watson. I can't stress this enough. I have a graphic for
- 11:07you. So could you pull up the Browns graphic for me there.
- 11:11Here we go, Cody. Look at that. Look at that. Beautiful. Browns are the only
- 11:14team in NFL history to have fewer touchdowns, fewer made
- 11:18field goals, fewer rushing yards, fewer net passing yards, more turnovers,
- 11:22more penalties than their opponents through 4 games of a season and
- 11:25still have a winning record. Look at that. Is this the Todd
- 11:29Monken effect? This is the Todd Monken being saddled
- 11:33with Deshaun Watson effect. I can tell you that fucking much. By the way,
- 11:36before— so can I get into this now real quick? So here's
- 11:40the thing. Today, actually not today, yesterday really nauseated me
- 11:44because of course they were talking about at the end of the game and,
- 11:46you know, Kurt Herbstreit and Al Michaels. We're gonna get into that media corner,
- 11:50so maybe I'll hold off on getting into this completely. But just the
- 11:54people that are trying to make him into some sort of folk hero, anyone that's
- 11:57doing that, fuck you. Yeah, we've got a lot on that media corner because we're
- 12:00gonna be talking about exactly what Amazon Prime did. Yeah, uh,
- 12:04oh, you mean the, the fucking pregame interview as well with,
- 12:07uh, Taylor Rooks? Oh boy. Oh boy, that was some
- 12:11fucking shit. It's gross, in fact. So that's, that's going to be its own conversation
- 12:16around how the media has handled this. But also it should be said
- 12:20in the football portion, he's not playing great. He's playing fine, playing much better than
- 12:23we've seen since he's been in Cleveland. No question. But he's not playing amazing.
- 12:27This last week was— he, he barely completed 50% of his
- 12:31passes. Let's not forget that they won that game with him barely completing 50%
- 12:35of his passes. Watching people say he's playing like a top 10 QB, I'm like,
- 12:38no, he fucking isn't. No. And, and by the way,
- 12:41watch it. Like, please watch the games. I want you to watch how he's throwing.
- 12:45I want you to watch his form. I want you to watch his decision-making.
- 12:49That does not mean that he is trash. He's not the trash quarterback
- 12:53that we have seen in the— in some of his showings playing for Cleveland.
- 12:56Now he's playing serviceably. Yes. And getting the job done
- 13:00so they can win there. Let's be honest about that. This is
- 13:04not Deshaun Watson from 2020. When he was like,
- 13:07looked like a future superstar. Yes.
- 13:11So like, fuck, fucking A, whatever. The Browns,
- 13:15happy for Todd Monken, happy for some of the like younger players on the team.
- 13:19And you know, it's like, it's a massive,
- 13:23it's a massive win for their defense that got rid of Myles Garrett and is
- 13:26still performing completely. So great football. Yay, love it. That's not
- 13:30what they focused on on the broadcast. And that bothers me. Bothers the shit out
- 13:33of me. The only, the only positive I'm taking from this this, and I'm— and
- 13:36I'm— trust me, I'm doing some serious fucking gymnastics to get here. I am happy
- 13:39for Cleveland fans right now who have ate nothing but shit
- 13:43for a long time until I was— the chanting started,
- 13:47and then I was like, you know what, you guys fucking deserve exactly what you
- 13:51get. And by the way, I was supposed to make content today about this and
- 13:53I forgot, but there's a video coming from me with a big old fucking
- 13:57I told you so about that. Big fucking— unreal, right?
- 14:01Because when he told everybody that, uh,
- 14:05they, you know, yelled at the fans for booing him, he was like,
- 14:08I know this isn't even about my play, blah blah blah. No shit. And I
- 14:11was like, no, it is. It's also about your play. It absolutely is.
- 14:15Because if you were balling out, they would not
- 14:18boo you. Well, you're fucking right. It turns out you were dead right. Every single
- 14:22Browns fan, by the way, that like, like could— there were
- 14:26some that were like, yeah, no, I hate him, whatever. But there was a bunch
- 14:28who were like, no, We don't— we would never— we would never cheer
- 14:32for him. Yes, because— because Ohio, the bastion of
- 14:36fucking wokeness. It's not even Ohio. I can't— I can't think of an
- 14:39NFL team, an NFL fan base that wouldn't cheer for their quarterback
- 14:44regardless of what they did. You're probably right there. I can't think of one.
- 14:47I don't like— I don't— I don't think this is a Browns issue. No,
- 14:49you're right. This is a like— we've been experiencing it
- 14:53for a week now, Tanya, what it looks like, how few people
- 14:57give a fuck about sexual assault. Yeah. Let's go back to— let's go back to
- 14:59what was it? 2017, 2018 when Ray Rice happened.
- 15:03If he actually— the video never came out and he served those 2 games,
- 15:06boy, fucking Rice chants would have been all throughout fucking Baltimore. No question
- 15:09about it. Ben Roethlisberger, they, they didn't want to get rid of fucking
- 15:13Justin Tucker in Baltimore. Like, they wait till the
- 15:17last fucking minute to do it. It's always, you know, and I mean, if— look
- 15:22no further than the multiple campus sexual assault stories
- 15:25in the news right now. So it's unbelievable. No one cares. Yeah, no one,
- 15:28no one really gives a shit. Stop telling me that you have some sort of
- 15:31moral high ground as fan base. Are some fans much better?
- 15:35Absolutely. Are the people in our chat very likely the kind
- 15:38of people who would always hate Deshaun Watson? No question. Absolutely. But we're talking macro
- 15:42here, right? You know, can I ask you a question though? Like,
- 15:46did we go backwards as a society when it comes to the actual world
- 15:51of rape culture, or are we just actually— we didn't change
- 15:54and it's just gotten louder again? We just pretended we got better.
- 15:58Yeah, that, that. Okay, that's what I thought. That's what I was worried about.
- 16:01I thought maybe we got better for a minute there and then the fucking worst
- 16:05of us. Just want to know something weird. When I was looking into the numbers
- 16:07while I made content about this all week, it did show that like the
- 16:10peak of reporting matching the
- 16:14like a higher number of arrests and convictions was in the early '90s.
- 16:19Really? And I was like, I never would have guessed that. Was that like— why
- 16:22is that? I don't know. I feel like somehow I could relate
- 16:27it to like AIDS panic Because everything
- 16:30comes back to something else that's worse. But I don't know how to.
- 16:34But it was a very weird time. Very, very weird time. But let's, let's get
- 16:38off of the shit show that was Thursday Night Football about 2 fucking teams that
- 16:41won't be anywhere near the playoffs and no one gives a shit about with 2
- 16:44quarterbacks that, honest to God, I would give anything for them to both just
- 16:47fucking go away. Week 4, Tanya.
- 16:51Wait, are you talking about Rams-Eagles? No, I was talking about
- 16:54the game on Thursday night. I thought you were still previewing. I was transitioning away
- 16:58from the shitty game. Stafford, nothing. Yeah.
- 17:02No, no, neither of them. I love those 2. We're good. I'm fine.
- 17:05We're, we're good with Matthew Stafford and Jalen Hurts, especially. I got lost in the
- 17:08transition. I thought it was a good transition. I think it probably was.
- 17:12I think I was thinking ahead already. Oh, okay. Yeah. So my brain
- 17:15was saying, let's get away from these 2 feckless fucks. Let's get to 2 quarterbacks
- 17:20we actually respect. So you were bringing it home. I'm so fucking good
- 17:23at this. You got it, dude. All right. Rams and Eagles.
- 17:27This is a really fascinating game because both of these
- 17:31teams looked horrific last week. Really fucking Um, the Rams looked
- 17:35a little bit better for a part of the game and just fell apart.
- 17:38The Eagles— well, the Eagles kind of did too. The Eagles had a little moment
- 17:41there and, and they fell apart as well. Uh, the Rams blew a 16-0 halftime
- 17:45lead against Denver and somehow lost 30-26. Matthew Stafford threw for 390
- 17:50yards and 2 touchdowns but also had 2 picks. Uh, the Eagles meanwhile got embarrassed
- 17:54by Chicago, 27-7. Um, Philly managed only 248 yards
- 17:57total, had 3 turnovers, and gained just 62 yards in the second half. So like
- 18:01They sort of both had second halves that were like pretty embarrassing. Yeah.
- 18:04So we're talking about a, you know, the Rams with this really productive offense
- 18:08but a terrible second half collapse and the Eagles, this contender
- 18:12who just seemed to be coming off of repeated dysfunctional performances.
- 18:16And unless Jalen Hurts can kind of drag them out of it, they're looking really
- 18:19rough. Yeah. Couple of notes. Puka is
- 18:22slated to return. Mm-hmm. I heard that Aaron Donald
- 18:26might be out. He is officially out. Okay. So Puka back,
- 18:29Donald out. Donald out.
- 18:31And Philly has several players that are dealing
- 18:34with injuries. DeVonta Smith, Goedert, Zach Bond.
- 18:39Yeah. Ferguson also out, by the way. Which one of these
- 18:43Week 3 aberrations, if you had to pick these Week 3 games that just
- 18:47looked awful, do you think was the bigger aberration? Do you think was
- 18:51like less likely to be a snapshot of what this team is? I firmly believe
- 18:55it's the Rams. I'm a little worried about the Eagles right now. I was feeling
- 18:57so much better about the Eagles early in the season. And after that
- 19:01game, that comeback win that they had over there in Tennessee, even though Tennessee is
- 19:04a dogshit team this year and got a long way to go— NFL game,
- 19:06NFL wins are important— but that comeback win, I thought, hey,
- 19:09Jalen Hurts still got them, we're good. And then I saw last week,
- 19:12and I got to say, that team seems like they're in disarray. And it's not
- 19:16just the offense. The offense as a whole looks bad. No, it's the defense too.
- 19:19But the defense looks like shit too. The defense has— it's the worst it's been
- 19:22in— I've never seen it this bad. Um, and if anything,
- 19:25Jalen Hurts sort of feel— it feels like he's like doing everything
- 19:29he can, but like with that O-line and if Saquon's not—
- 19:32Saquon has been so streaky for the last few seasons. So I agree
- 19:37with you. And you and I talked last week after
- 19:41the Rams loss about this tendency for Matthew
- 19:45Stafford and for Sean McVay to let Matthew Stafford just start chucking it. Yeah,
- 19:49just start fucking— because that pick 6 was dogshit and it's classic Matthew Stafford.
- 19:52This is something that he has done. Sean McVay is
- 19:56prone to letting his quarterbacks do that. He did it with Jared Goff. He's done
- 20:00it with Matthew Stafford. I think if we're talking about
- 20:04which team has the better coaching to try to bounce back from this
- 20:07situation, Rams, it's the Rams. And they're
- 20:11getting their objectively best wide receiver
- 20:15back. Yes. And I think that's going to bring a lot to the table just
- 20:17in general, whether or not he gets a ton of touches, which he's going to
- 20:21get a ton of touches. Yeah. But like, I think it's just going to open
- 20:23up the field so much for Davante Adams, who's already even, even without without Puka
- 20:27was having monster games. His last game, last 2 games for Davante, he was a
- 20:30fucking monster. Well, I think it might end up, it might end up lowering his
- 20:33numbers a little bit but giving him more opportunities to make like clutch plays.
- 20:36Yeah, right. So like he probably won't have the chunk yardage, probably not,
- 20:40but, but at the moments, but probably bigger impact.
- 20:43Exactly. Um, and as far as being
- 20:47without Aaron Donald against that Philly offensive line,
- 20:50probably for the fucking best if you're gonna be it without AD to do it
- 20:54against this fucking line. Yeah. Um, but I am interested
- 20:57to see if, if Jalen Hurts, without having
- 21:01that inside pressure from, you know, from where— from
- 21:04Aaron Donald missing— if he can do something. Um,
- 21:08they have like DeVonta Smith. If he's not healthy,
- 21:11like, I'm starting to wonder who the fuck he's throwing it to. I'm having that
- 21:14question right now. He might have to— he might have to kick into high gear
- 21:18with his legs. I gotta be honest, he's been He has been almost
- 21:22recklessly running like in the last game, like he's been taking shots,
- 21:26he's been taking hits, he's been— he's not been sliding. He's not like— Jalen
- 21:30Hurts is putting his body on the line. So we'll see.
- 21:34I agree with you, though, that like right now, if you have to ask me
- 21:37who I have more faith in in this game, it's the Rams. Yeah.
- 21:41And it's purely based on like just
- 21:45the— the— it's not the quarterbacks. It's not even necessarily the weapons.
- 21:49It's the coaching and the few little spots where they do have a better situation
- 21:51on the roster. Completely agree with you. Now that—
- 21:54it's just, listen, I have faith in the Rams. They're gonna get it right.
- 21:57And also, they've kind of— for the last couple years, they've been notoriously like a
- 22:00second half team anyways. So I'm— that's why I'm not too much sweating like
- 22:04the fact that Myles Garrett's out for another 4 weeks. I'm not sweating Aaron Donald
- 22:08being out. Hell, Aaron Donald being here is a fucking bonus anyways. We'll say though,
- 22:11the Seahawks and the Niners, sort of interesting. Like, if they stay on track
- 22:15to be great, it's making the Rams' life difficult. It definitely is. No, but I
- 22:19do think— I mean, meltdown against the Commanders last week, they really did. Listen,
- 22:23the NFL's been fucking drunk so in week 1. We would like to be as
- 22:26well. Oh, we're gonna be— oh, we're gonna be drunk by the end of this
- 22:29show, no question about it, especially as this show continues. But Cody, I, I'm,
- 22:32I'm introducing this. I'm introducing this for you. Um, there are 2 3-0
- 22:36teams playing each other this week, division rivals. Cody, baby, now I,
- 22:40I know that you couldn't possibly have
- 22:44believed that entering week 4 you'd be going up
- 22:48against the 3-0 Kansas City Chiefs
- 22:52with a 3-0 Las Vegas Raiders. I hate that you don't believe in us.
- 22:55I believed in us the whole time. You absolutely did not. I absolutely did not.
- 22:58Absolutely. I am loving this. It's fucking unbelievable.
- 23:02The fucking Raiders are the shit right now. And here's the thing, and I'm not
- 23:05saying this as a Raider fan only, trust me, trust me, I'm aware that my
- 23:09fandom is coming in here a little bit, but as it should. I mean,
- 23:11I think the whole reason that we like to talk about sports is because we
- 23:15have fandom within us. I— we're not— I don't like
- 23:19the idea of those, the, the nihilistic, like, I've had the fandom beaten out of
- 23:23me, I'm just fully unbiased. Fuck off. Why are you talking about sports then?
- 23:26We love sports, and some of those teams are the reason we love them.
- 23:29Yeah, I'm, I'm really happy about this team where they're at. I, I— and again,
- 23:33I, I jokingly on my other show picked them to win this weekend.
- 23:37I don't think they're gonna win. I hope they win. It is, it is in
- 23:40Las Vegas though, right? No, it's in Kansas City.
- 23:43Leave. I thought it was. Is it in Vegas? This might be wrong. No,
- 23:47I might be wrong. I— it might be in Vegas. If it's in Vegas,
- 23:49please correct me. I, for some reason, I thought it was in Kansas City.
- 23:51That changes anything, but if it's in Kansas City, it makes me less likely to
- 23:55feel like you're going to win the game versus— I've been so like
- 23:59enjoying this team. I've been enjoying Kirk Cousins. I'm enjoying the camaraderie around
- 24:03this team. It's just a different feel around this team right now. And it's in
- 24:06Vegas. It's been— it's in Vegas, so we got a legit shot. I— listen,
- 24:09I just want a good competitive football game, which I think the Raiders are going
- 24:12to give me because that's what they've shown for the last 3 weeks. That defense
- 24:15has been fantastic. To think that they won't at least be competitive and put
- 24:19up some sort of fight. It's a different time. I, I referred to them today,
- 24:21I'm like, this ain't your dad's Raiders. In fact, this is your granddad's Raiders.
- 24:25The last time they were fucking good. This isn't your— this isn't your 2019
- 24:29Chiefs either. Like, it's, it's a different iteration of it. They're the Chiefs.
- 24:32They are, they are 3-0. Let's not fuck around.
- 24:36They're really good. But still not exactly
- 24:39the same exact type of team that we were seeing before. No,
- 24:42it's, it's something. The, the turnaround has been outstanding, and I'm just,
- 24:46I'm really fired up to see this game. I'm like, I'm going to be watching
- 24:49this game with outrageous bated breath and just going to enjoy
- 24:52a good game. It's, it's weird going to week 4 watching the Raiders without
- 24:57the season already being fucking over. Here's what I'll tell you about this game that
- 25:01I'm intrigued by is I think they're probably going to be they're gonna
- 25:05probably go down at some point in the game, probably they're going to be
- 25:09losing, probably. How do they respond? Because last week they scored 19
- 25:13on Antwerp. Um, and to, to be
- 25:17quite honest, you know, that's— even if they don't win
- 25:21but they make a real, a real comeback, Kirk Cousins is great
- 25:25at this. He's a, he's a veteran, he's extremely experienced. He doesn't
- 25:28get that, like, the level of rattled that, like, maybe a younger quarterback might.
- 25:32This is why I love that Fernando Mendoza has not been with this because there's
- 25:35no 3-0 with Fernando Mendoza. No question. Um,
- 25:39but here's the question, Cody, and I'll answer it after you.
- 25:43Can the Raiders actually be considered
- 25:47an AFC contender, a real AFC contender, if they go up
- 25:514-0 by beating the Chiefs? I will answer this,
- 25:54and you may disagree with me. I think they're an
- 25:58AFC contender now. And when I say contender now, I'm not saying
- 26:01that— I'm not suggesting they're going to win the Super Bowl. I'm not. I think
- 26:05AFC— so let's define it. Please defend that as like genuinely
- 26:10has a chance to make the championship game.
- 26:13Championship game is— I mean, I guess my mind just can't get there yet,
- 26:17but I think they're a contender to be a potential playoff team this game.
- 26:19If they win this game, I'm going, buddy, on Monday,
- 26:23I don't know how I will react. I might be— I might be rocking fucking
- 26:27spikes on my shoulders. I might wear an eye patch. I might be
- 26:31screaming, we're going to the fucking chip. Like, I don't know what to say other
- 26:34than if they beat the Chiefs, yeah, and go forward— the fucking
- 26:38Raiders go 4-0— then yes,
- 26:42I will firmly believe this team can be a legitimate
- 26:46AFC champion contender. Now, I still don't
- 26:50see this universe happening right now, but if this happens on
- 26:53Sunday I'm gonna be loud. I see a universe where
- 26:57it happens because I don't doubt T. Like,
- 27:00it's like I didn't think the, the Raiders were going to be to this point
- 27:04after one win, after two, and then I get to the third, I'm like,
- 27:07all right, I mean, he's a legit trend showing me real ability
- 27:10here. And Brock Bowers being back,
- 27:14though, as good as he was, like, uh,
- 27:17you know, it in a first game back He was
- 27:21going to be the best offensive weapon on the field. No question. Even more
- 27:26honestly, I think, than Kenneth Walker. Like, Brock Bowers is a fucking
- 27:30monster. Like, he's the closest thing I've seen
- 27:34to Gronk. Like, in terms of just like unstoppable amounts
- 27:38of production when he's healthy. The amount of yak yardage he
- 27:42gets, like, and how he fights for it. That's what— that's Gronk. It is.
- 27:45It's just he gets a ball, someone tries to tackle him. And he just fucking
- 27:49grabs him and says, fuck you, and just pushes the defender an extra
- 27:534 yards. He does it on almost every fucking play and it is unbelievable
- 27:56how he does it. So I'm trying to figure— so you guys haven't beat
- 28:00the Chiefs. The Raiders haven't beat the Chiefs in a meaningful regular season game
- 28:04because last year was like— it was like the end of the season and they
- 28:08just like were cooked. Since it
- 28:12was one time in 2023 and before that, the last time was one
- 28:16time in 2020. Well, the 2023 game was a bit— was a big problem.
- 28:19Because I believe that was on Christmas Day. And then the Chiefs took it personally
- 28:22and never lost again and won the Super Bowl. Yeah, it's been 3 wins in
- 28:2510 years. I'm aware. So, yeah, like, I mean, that's a fucking—
- 28:29that's a, that's a statement. It is. For, for my part, if they beat
- 28:33the Chiefs, I don't care that it's in Las Vegas. If they beat the Chiefs
- 28:38to go 4-0 and to be at the top of the division,
- 28:41that's a contender. I agree. No, I agree. And this is something that now
- 28:45we're a quarter away through the season, about And like, yeah, that's interesting
- 28:49to me. Me too. Um, so yeah, and I'm
- 28:53rooting for— I'm— you know what I'm rooting for? You know what I'm rooting for?
- 28:55Raiders-Ravens AFC Championship Game.
- 28:59Revenge on my mind. Wherever it is, you and I
- 29:03fly, we're there.
- 29:06We're going, we're going to that game. No question, we're going to that fucking game.
- 29:09Also, by the way, it's in the chat right now, uh, High Off the Glass,
- 29:12which is of course O the Great, says Legion of Doom type shit.
- 29:15Get it, Deck? I'm fucking with you. Oh, completely, dude. I mean
- 29:20this from my— I'm not— I can't believe this is real right now. Like,
- 29:23I've been— I've waited so long to see a Raider team
- 29:27even compete, let alone win. That's not like depressing. Yeah. No,
- 29:31it's just I've watched every Raider game for like the last 30
- 29:34years and rarely, rarely have been happy.
- 29:38I wasn't even that concerned with whether or not they won against the Saints
- 29:41last week. I was just thrilled that it was a fucking competitive
- 29:45game all the way to the end, because once the Chiefs got up 2 scores,
- 29:48I'm like, uh, fucking same old Raiders. Yeah, but then they fucking immediately
- 29:52showed they're not the same old Raiders. There's fucking fight in these guys.
- 29:55Clint Kubiak, I, I— so far, holy shit,
- 29:59this guy, what he's accomplished in such a short amount of time
- 30:03is goddamn astonishing. Yeah, I don't know what's going on in my world. Clint Kubiak's
- 30:07got the Raiders fucking playing like the Raiders of old. Fucking Fucking Bob Chesney's
- 30:11got UCLA Bruins playing like they're fucking legitimate Big Ten and fucking
- 30:15playoff contenders. This is a fucking insane world for me
- 30:18all of a sudden. I think, I think, uh, all this means
- 30:22is that you're gonna be absolutely devastated multiple times
- 30:27in January. I'm gonna be devastated multiple fucking times in January.
- 30:31But for now, that's a long way away. No, it's October,
- 30:35and October's the shit. Yeah, it's gonna be great, man. I'm loving it.
- 30:39And I'm, I'm more excited for this game. I'm more excited for this Raiders game.
- 30:42I don't remember the last time I was this excited for a Raiders game.
- 30:44That, that's just it. I think that when they made the playoffs and they lost
- 30:48to the Bengals in 2020, we're gonna be like in a
- 30:52car on the way to an event at the end of that game. We're showing
- 30:55the event fucking late is what we're gonna be like, because it's— we're showing up
- 30:58late to the event. Yeah, we're showing— it's— if the Raiders are in this game,
- 31:02we're gonna be sitting right there in that fucking living room until the fucking last
- 31:05down is out, and we're gonna be late to the event. I'm gonna be in
- 31:07a gown. I'm gonna be in a suit. Fucking just sitting there, the classiest
- 31:11Raider fan in America. Oh Jesus Christ. Well, listen, I'm very
- 31:15excited. It's a game I'm legitimately excited for. And I will admit, even though this
- 31:19next game that we're about to talk about is intriguing, I'm honestly not excited
- 31:23about it. I'm not, because there's one team I think is disappointing and the other
- 31:27team is just beaten to fuck. I don't care to necessarily watch the game.
- 31:31I do think that it is going to be interesting to see,
- 31:34an interesting litmus test for the Broncos because
- 31:38it's Broncos at 49ers. Um, the 49ers have yet
- 31:44again a litany of injuries because of the curse.
- 31:47Their quarterback though is playing really, really well.
- 31:50The opposite effect is happening in, in Denver where I
- 31:54think their quarterback is kind of mid, but the rest of the team always comes
- 31:58through. And to be fair to Bo Nix, he does not get stressed
- 32:02out at the end of games. He figures shit out. This feels like a trap
- 32:05game for the 49ers. They're, they're weakened by injuries and the Broncos
- 32:09don't give a fuck. And Mike Evans is claiming he's playing in this game,
- 32:13so whatever. I think that this might be another situation
- 32:16where we have the Broncos getting to like 13 wins this season,
- 32:21but like with, like with the least impressive sort of
- 32:24wins of all time. And this feels like it's just shaping up to be one
- 32:28of them. It seems like you agree. Yes, I do agree. And it is weird
- 32:31that I'm actually surprised at how the Broncos record now because they've not played
- 32:35well. They didn't last year and they made the AFC Championship Game.
- 32:38I know every game last year. I know it's fucking weird. This is just the
- 32:42same shit again. All right, so we won't spend too much time on that.
- 32:45I am really intrigued about Jaguars at Bengals because
- 32:49I don't think either of these teams scare
- 32:53anyone right now. They technically should
- 32:58be contenders. Bengals, Joe Burrow putting
- 33:02up lots of points. Trevor Lawrence has,
- 33:07you know, had a great game against the Patriots, which, by the
- 33:11way, has a pretty good defense. Patriots are like a top 10 DVOA defense
- 33:14right now. So it's not nothing that he, that he shredded them up. Did he
- 33:18forget what, how much time was left in the game and take a knee
- 33:22at the fucking 1 and piss off a bunch of of bettors and fantasy players?
- 33:26Sure. I don't think that that was point shaving. He's an idiot.
- 33:30Yeah. Have you heard Trevor Lawrence speak? He's a— sadly, yes.
- 33:33Dingbat. He is absolutely a dingbat. Um, Cincinnati,
- 33:37you know, it's yet again Joe Burrow. Does he have to play hero ball
- 33:41to prevent their issues on defense? Um,
- 33:45they've had high-scoring games. He's scoring points.
- 33:48He's— he made massive mistake at the end game
- 33:52against the Steelers. I, I don't think either of these teams are that good.
- 33:55I don't either, but I do think that the Jaguars will win their division because
- 33:59somebody has to win it. And I do think the Jaguars are better than
- 34:03we give them credit for because I do think Liam Cohen's done a really good
- 34:05job over there. But they're always going to be hampered by that first name you
- 34:09mentioned in Trevor Lawrence. Yeah, like, period. I don't know. I like—
- 34:12Trevor's either great or kind of bad. And it like— I
- 34:16actually got the Jaguars in this game. I think so too. Yeah,
- 34:20but like, I don't think— I guess what I'm saying is like
- 34:23both these teams were sort of favorites to at least be playoff contenders.
- 34:27Yeah. And they probably still are, I guess. But I guess— but that's because of
- 34:31the divisions they're in. So not impressed with either one of these teams right now.
- 34:34I will say I give a lot more credit to Joe Burrow and what
- 34:38he continues to be saddled with in terms of coaching and everything else.
- 34:42I— Liam Cohen seemed really annoyed that he had to try to like defend Trevor
- 34:47Lawrence's stupidity in the postgame press conference. He was like, yeah, I don't know,
- 34:50that one was on me. I told him, and he like tried, and I was
- 34:54like, way to fall on the sword. You're doing a good job, Liam. You,
- 34:57you have an idiot for a quarterback. What are you gonna do? Um, Monday Night
- 35:01Football, secretly fucking sick.
- 35:05Actually, Falcons— if you told me in week 1 that this was going to be
- 35:08a great game, I would not have believed you. Me neither. I thought this would
- 35:11have been horseshit. But both of these teams have really shown,
- 35:15shown some shit. And it's crazy because like neither one of them has a winning
- 35:17record or anything like, you know, but like the
- 35:20way the Falcons looked with Michael Penix, the way that they looked like a completely
- 35:24different team, the way the Saints have basically
- 35:28almost won every game they've played in. They obviously only have one win on the
- 35:31season, but like really genuinely impressive performances. They had
- 35:35a meltdown last week. Okay, shit happens. Tyler Schuck is throwing for like fucking
- 35:39400 yards a game. Doesn't get— I'm interested
- 35:42in this game. These are the only, like, the only teams so far
- 35:46that seem like they could like maybe find a way to be like settled in
- 35:50in their division. The Panthers are stressing me out. I love Bryce Young, but like
- 35:53they've looked awful. I'm really intrigued.
- 35:57And given how well Penix has played, this is another
- 36:01opportunity to see if like he's the quarterback of the future and if he's going
- 36:04to be the quarterback of the future. You got to go in and put a
- 36:06good performance against your division rival, the Saints. Completely agree. And I really
- 36:09loved how Penix looked last week. That team looked fucking good and he got so
- 36:13fun and he got off to a rocky start and he really fucking put it
- 36:16together. It was the most fun I've had watching a Falcons team since like 2017
- 36:21when like the Matt Ryan years. Pretty good shit. So it was awesome.
- 36:25There are some injuries that are going to affect that though, and that's bumming
- 36:28me out because I think Achane's out. He is, which sucks.
- 36:31But that's more— was the 500-yard
- 36:35Tyler Shuck game incoming? Hey, maybe. Uh, Tyler Shuck has been so—
- 36:39I've been enjoying it. I've been enjoying it. And he, you know, he's, he's a
- 36:42young quarterback, but like, he's fucking 38. Yeah, well, he played like 11
- 36:47years. Yeah, it's fucking Van Wilder over here.
- 36:51A couple side plots I want to keep an eye on. Okay,
- 36:54first one, and I think that this is, you know, Uh, this is leaning in
- 36:58a little bit to the establishment media constant comparisons between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen,
- 37:01which is that both these quarterbacks, um,
- 37:05are coming off of wins. 2 completely different vibes and wins, but like, you know,
- 37:09also highly discussed. The Bills are playing the Patriots,
- 37:12who will be without Christian Barmore and Christian Gonzalez,
- 37:16objectively their 2 best defensive players. Um, the Titans have looked
- 37:20rough through 3 games. They're playing the Ravens. So both
- 37:24the Ravens and the Bills are these AFC favorites who
- 37:28are going in and playing these games where both teams and QBs and rookie head
- 37:32coaches get to prove that they can get the job done against inferior
- 37:37opposition, right? Like, we've got these 2 rookie head coaches on
- 37:41both these teams. We've got these 2 star quarterbacks. We have them both
- 37:45set up to— with gimme games.
- 37:48So it seems like it should be boring, but to me it's not. These are,
- 37:51these are genuinely the types of games you have to dominate
- 37:55to convince me that this is like, that you're, you're for real this season.
- 37:59And I think they both have a lot on the line to do that.
- 38:01Yeah, sure, the Bills have the extra win, but that win over the Chargers might
- 38:06as well have been a loss. It was so fucking bad. And, and I know
- 38:08that that's not how it works. I know that's not how it works. But in
- 38:10terms of like how much I believe in their capabilities on all sides
- 38:14of the ball, like, let's be real. Um, who do you think has
- 38:18more pressure to win their game? Oh,
- 38:23one's a division game, one's not, but one team's winless.
- 38:28Patriots have a win. They were just in the Super Bowl.
- 38:31I don't fucking know. I got— I'm gonna say— I'm— I gotta
- 38:35say, it's got to be the Patriots, right? I mean, they're— they were in the
- 38:38Super Bowl, and they are— I gotta say, right now, as of right
- 38:42now, They're in the top 3 worst teams in the NFL based
- 38:46on how they played so far. The bottom 3 best, top 3 worst, however you
- 38:49want to say it. I— whatever, whatever way you want to say it, they are
- 38:52the best of the worst right now. They look so fucking bad.
- 38:55Only the best of the worst because we can't really comprehend that the Super
- 39:00Bowl team from the year before— I am the worst of the worst. I am
- 39:02fucking like blown away with how shitty they look.
- 39:05It's the offense though, and that's the interesting part is like kicking's been fine.
- 39:08Defense has been fine. It's— and I think that's why you're probably like
- 39:12unwilling to say that they're the worst of the worst, because like realistically,
- 39:16defense is— it's not gonna be good this week. They're missing their 2 fucking best
- 39:19players, both named Christian, by the way. Not sure what that's about.
- 39:23Just both our Christians gone. I'm just telling you, like, God has
- 39:26left us. God has left the New England
- 39:30Patriots, if he was ever there to begin with. I doubt he was ever there.
- 39:32But I will tell you this, uh, The reason why I am— I'm like
- 39:36officially gonna have like no faith in this team very, very soon. Like 0.0
- 39:40type of faith. Um, the way Mike Vrabel had that
- 39:44press conference, I have never fucking seen Mike Vrabel like that.
- 39:47Yeah, he— even in the worst of times in Tennessee,
- 39:50I'm like, what the fuck was that? So do you think
- 39:54that like there's extra pressure on Josh Allen to win this fucking game?
- 39:58Because it feels like there is for me. Dude, Josh Allen, like there'd be no
- 40:01excuse. I'm just assuming Josh Allen is gonna wreck shop. And the reason
- 40:04why I think that is because he played like shit last week. Yeah, Josh Allen
- 40:08had maybe one of his worst games he's ever fucking played. So now he's gonna
- 40:11do the bounce back and just fucking throw for 6 touchdowns. Without Christian Gonzalez,
- 40:15they're fucked. Maybe you get through without Christian Barkley, but not both of them.
- 40:19Like, we— again, Josh Allen played maybe the worst game of his career
- 40:22last week. I would like to see— I would like to see the Ravens
- 40:26go, go bell to bell and just dominate
- 40:31that. So would I. I would really like to see them put together— it doesn't
- 40:33matter, it's the Titans— put together a performance on all sides of the ball.
- 40:37Just beat the shit out of them. Play really well and consistent
- 40:41on offense across the board. Don't make it a fucking situation. I would like to
- 40:45see that from that team. Settle some of my nerves. Yeah.
- 40:49Um, Brian Flores is a fucking genius.
- 40:53Really? Not enough people are talking about it, and we need to talk about
- 40:56what the fuck Brian Flores is doing and has been doing. I will tell you,
- 40:59I, I Can I push back just a tick? People are really starting to talk
- 41:03about it. Who's people? Even people in media, even in like big media.
- 41:07Where'd you see it? I saw it on— God, where did I see it?
- 41:09I thought I saw it on like NFL Live or something. Like, they were— people
- 41:12are starting to talk about— we were talking about on our show, we were talking—
- 41:14I've seen other people talking about other shows. I want it like— I want him—
- 41:17it's fucking about like Josh McDaniels and Spags, and I want him talked
- 41:21about. I have him above them all. What he's fucking doing right now is
- 41:25outrageous right now. He is, he is the Tony
- 41:29Dungy of this like era. What he is doing is
- 41:33nuts. Their DVOA on defense is so
- 41:37far ahead of number 2. The Vikings are the best defense in the NFL and
- 41:42they are, they are winning those games for
- 41:46the Minnesota— the Minnesota Vikings are undefeated through 3 games because
- 41:49of that defense. Brian Flores's His concepts, what he
- 41:53is doing, how he is manipulating every
- 41:57single game is so far ahead of what anybody else is doing
- 42:01at the defensive coordinator position. There is— it's just
- 42:05another thing that drives me nuts that he hasn't gotten an opportunity
- 42:09again because of the sort of blackballing out of the head coaching spot.
- 42:13But like, when I tell you watching Vikings games feels
- 42:17like It feels like I'm learning that
- 42:23you can do things I didn't realize you could do on defense. That, like,
- 42:25that's what it feels like when you really understand conceptually what they're
- 42:29doing week to week, matchup to matchup. It's,
- 42:32oh, it's so cool. And I, I know
- 42:36there are coordinators that do these matchup sort of scheme changes. Yeah, but like not
- 42:41as many as you'd think. You'd— not as many as you'd think do that.
- 42:44It is very Belichickian. And of course, like, that's where
- 42:47he comes from. But we haven't seen a lot of those coaches do that.
- 42:51I want to bring up a, I want to bring up a graphic for you.
- 42:54So let's bring up the Flores graphic, Mocha. The Minnesota Vikings
- 42:58are the first team in 40 years to go 3-0 while having less
- 43:02than 4.3 yards per play over that span.
- 43:06So you can see them, you know, the Vikings are right there at
- 43:10the top. Got like the 1986 Rams, the 1978
- 43:15Rams, the Bears from the '70s. Like, we— this is something that does
- 43:19not happen in modern football. It doesn't fucking happen in
- 43:23modern football. Offenses are too good. They're too dynamic.
- 43:28And, you know, this has become an offensive league. They are winning
- 43:34and sort of like very believably so because of what he's
- 43:38doing. Now, props to Carson Wentz and Kyler Murray, who are trying to figure out
- 43:42this complex KOC offense and clearly struggling to do it without,
- 43:46you know, some injury issues and things in here and there. But like, they've not
- 43:50been great offensively. And that just— that highlight
- 43:54right there, we're, we're talking about like all-time shit. Yeah. I love
- 43:58Brian Flores. So do I. I want— I, I don't
- 44:02think that the Vikings can— they got to figure out their offense. Like, he can't
- 44:05keep doing this, but like, fuck. I love him. I love him too.
- 44:08My guy, he's fucking crushing it. I'm really— I'm— listen, I'm still very optimistic
- 44:13about the Minnesota Vikings. I'm looking forward to seeing this offense kind of get it
- 44:15together. You know, Kyler Murray hasn't had enough opportunity to kind of play in it.
- 44:18He got the win last week, so I'm looking forward to seeing him, you know,
- 44:202 weeks healthy. I'm really excited to see where this team is in 3 weeks,
- 44:24like after a few more reps for Kyler and seeing where he actually
- 44:28is in this offense. Boy, getting another guy— if he can really avoid that,
- 44:31that'd be great. Week. I'm excited. The Vikings are a very interesting team,
- 44:35and I'm glad you and I were the first on it because everyone else is
- 44:38like, oh, it's Kyler. I'm like, shit, you just wait. You just
- 44:42fucking wait and see what the Minnesota Vikings do. And it also helps that the
- 44:45fucking Green Bay Packers are dog shit. It also helps that the Detroit
- 44:48Lions are kind of falling back a little bit now. The Bears,
- 44:52fucking contenders. Final little side note,
- 44:56Jets are looking improved on defense since last season. Geno Smith's playing
- 44:59out of his fucking mind. Risky, huh? The Bears defense cooked
- 45:03last week against Philly for the first time season. And Case Keenum looked like he
- 45:06was 2017 Case Keenum. This is a really interesting game. It's a really interesting game.
- 45:09Can I say something about Geno Smith? You may. Um,
- 45:13if the Raiders kept him and he's playing under Clint Kubiak right now, I think
- 45:16he'd be fucking playing amazing. I legitimately think the Raiders would be doing the exact
- 45:20same thing, if not probably better. Maybe better. Maybe better.
- 45:23He's— they're about the same age, him and Kirk. Yeah, he got fucked over like
- 45:26mid-30s big time with the Raiders last year. Yeah, big time. He got saddled—
- 45:31oh, it was a 2-season— fucking like everything's Groundhog Day at this point. But I'm
- 45:34telling you, like like the whole Chip Kelly of it all, the fucking— how he
- 45:36was set up to fucking fail miserably. Was it 2 seasons? It was last year.
- 45:40Yeah, no, Geno was on the Jets last year. He wasn't. He was on the
- 45:44Raiders last year. Who was the quarterback of the Jets last year?
- 45:48I don't know, but it wasn't Geno. This is Geno's first year back. Was it
- 45:51Justin Herbert? I mean, Justin, um,
- 45:55no one, no one, no one knows actually looking back. That was the horrible year
- 45:58of the Jets. I think everyone just forgot about it. Yeah, trust Gino
- 46:02was in Vegas last year. I know it
- 46:07was Justin Fields. That wasn't Geno Smith the whole
- 46:11time? No, Geno was sadly trying to play for Chip Kelly's
- 46:15offense when he got fired 6 weeks in. In my head, Geno Smith
- 46:20has been a Jet since last year. No, no, no, no,
- 46:23that was, that was Justin Fields. And well, I'm really glad that he's doing well.
- 46:26Even so, that's really interesting. That's even more interesting to me me because now it,
- 46:30it's like, okay, is this a good pairing with Aaron Glenn? I think it is
- 46:34so far because they're like, listen, they're, they're playing competitive games, which we have not
- 46:38seen on the Jets. My brain is— it's been a long week. It's been a
- 46:42long fucking week. Should we get away from football for a second? Yeah, it's not
- 46:45gonna get any better, but awesome. Let's get to the W because that always leads
- 46:49to not at all unrealistic expectations and opinions
- 46:53from a lot of fucking dipshits. Continue. Headline number 2: Caitlin
- 46:58Clark and the Fever have, uh, championship potential apparently, but what-ifs
- 47:01and uncertainty reign after their last, uh,
- 47:05latest ousting by the Aces. Uh, the post-game press conference
- 47:08was really fascinating. There's a few elements at play here.
- 47:12A'ja Wilson is the best player in the world. There's no question about
- 47:16that. Um, before we get into all the drama, let's bring up the A'ja Wilson
- 47:20graphic. Just so we can really start out with a bang. Let's do it.
- 47:23Let's do it. You know, because this is like we're talking about— we're talking about
- 47:28historic performances. A'ja Wilson is the first player in WNBA history with 3 straight 30-point
- 47:32games when facing elimination. She was contested on 39 of 48 field
- 47:37goals attempted in the series, converted on 79% of them.
- 47:41That is the highest percentage in a series since 2021. This is a
- 47:45player who is as clutch as anybody. In sports.
- 47:49She's on her way to winning her 4 millionth MVP.
- 47:53Yep. She's the best player in the world. Not just women's. She's one of
- 47:58the best basketball players in the world. In the world. And so with
- 48:02that context. Yes. And considering this is a championship team,
- 48:05a dynasty-style team, the Aces just want to—
- 48:09like, this is a dynasty that they're up against with a GOAT-level
- 48:13player in her prime. I don't understand why people
- 48:17are so freaked out that the Fever lost the series. It's a 3-game series.
- 48:21They're very tough. 3-game series are brutal.
- 48:25I did not expect them to win this. It was a tough draw. At no
- 48:28point did I expect to win this on both sides. On one side, it is
- 48:31not an indictment on the Fever. No. On the other side, it is also like,
- 48:36Fever fans, chill the fuck out. Someone's gotta win,
- 48:40and one of them's the Aces. And the Aces better. Better. Like, I don't
- 48:44know. Do people understand how long it took Michael
- 48:49Jordan and LeBron and all of these other,
- 48:53like, all-time players in men's sports that you think should have won a title really
- 48:57early because they were the greatest to win titles?
- 49:01Like, Michael Jordan couldn't win a fucking goddamn playoff series. Nope.
- 49:05And you guys, you're over here whining about Caitlin Clark, who's not even close to
- 49:09that level of player. Like, It's fine. Caitlin's a good player.
- 49:13Damn good. Kelsey Mitchell was great. Yeah, Leah Boston's a great player. Yeah,
- 49:16they're just not Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray and A'ja Wilson.
- 49:20And I just— this— not yet, at least.
- 49:23That's what I'm talking about. In 2026, right now, right now,
- 49:27A'ja Wilson might be the greatest of all time in WNBA.
- 49:30Like, what are we fucking talking about? So there's that element of it, which is
- 49:34like you ran up on a buzzsaw with a player who's the greatest clutch player
- 49:37in the league right now. The other part of it is that these,
- 49:41these people do not make it easy to feel bad for them. The Fever are
- 49:44just— they just don't fucking help it. And I'm like, they're so unlikable. I was
- 49:47waiting and I'm like, Caitlin Clark is a fucking charisma vacuum.
- 49:52And like, it does— like a charisma
- 49:55vacuum. She doesn't— she's— it's not even— she's not even absent of charisma.
- 49:59She actually sucks it out of the room like a fucking
- 50:03like when you get too close to a black hole. I've never seen anything like
- 50:07it. I don't want to— like, I'm tired of
- 50:11being bored by her, but when she steps off the court,
- 50:14she just makes everything feel uncomfortable.
- 50:18Now, post-game presser, they're all on— they're, they're pissy. They lost.
- 50:22Yeah, I get it. Aaliyah's not— Kelsey's not in a good mood. Stephanie White's
- 50:26not in a good mood. Caitlin's not in a good mood. But can I just
- 50:28say one thing? One thing? Sure. Stephanie White, fucking great leather jacket.
- 50:32I was always a great leather jacket. I was just fucking— I'm still,
- 50:36I'm still partial to the, uh, to the Becky sweatshirt
- 50:40under the blazer. Yes, but I have to say, she came out,
- 50:44and this is gonna be a rough reference for some of you people, but this
- 50:47was like Tori from Saved by the Bell. Sure, I know, you know, you know
- 50:50Tori. I fucking love Tori for all the 7 episodes she was in there,
- 50:54but every slightly alternative boy was Tori.
- 50:59Oh, we got the reruns when I was a kid. I'm like, one of the
- 51:027 Tori episodes. Oh, we got a Tori episode. Yeah, huge news.
- 51:05Fucking love me some Tori. Yeah. Um, but they were,
- 51:09you know, they made some snide comments about the discrepancy
- 51:12in, um, in free throws.
- 51:16So the Aces had 35 to their 20. Stephanie White says they
- 51:20had 35 free throws and we had 20. And Caitlin Clark goes was interesting.
- 51:25Not helping. Oh, she— listen, I will say Caitlin Clark did wear
- 51:29an elbow to the mouth and she did bleed a little bit from the mouth,
- 51:31so I think that's fresh on her brain. I'm— listen, I'm just trying to— I'm
- 51:35trying to find some benefit of the doubt here. But why? Why do
- 51:39you feel the need to try? I don't fucking know. Yeah, I believe— I believe
- 51:43they call it white knighting. Yeah, for— I don't know why I'm doing it.
- 51:45For somebody who literally has 4 million white knights. Like,
- 51:48yeah, I'm gonna shut the fuck up now. What am I Um, but like
- 51:52the other thing is she, you know, there was a lot of, um,
- 51:56conversation on their end about just the reality
- 51:59that they don't have a ton of playoff experience as this sort of Big 3.
- 52:02This is their 5th or 6th game together as, um, as playoff contenders,
- 52:06and they went up against a, a team with way more experience. Yeah. Um,
- 52:10this, the B-plot to this is the conversation that,
- 52:14um, disingenuous Uh, white women
- 52:19are having in sports media, led by Christine Brennan, who is my
- 52:23new fucking enemy. Wait, question, who the fuck's Christine Brennan? She's been a longtime writer
- 52:27for USA Today. Um, oh, USA Today is all you had to say. But she
- 52:30was once a really respected sort of, uh, opinion writer and columnist.
- 52:34And I'm sure so was Michelle Tafoya. No, I mean, like,
- 52:37it's— it really— like, this Caitlin Clark thing, like, came out of nowhere to me.
- 52:40Like, it was weird. Yeah. Um, and she— so she and
- 52:44then someone that I— it doesn't even
- 52:47fucking matter. Both sort of made the point of like, now that the Fever are
- 52:51out, who's gonna want to watch this? Oh fuck, which is like, we've been doing
- 52:53this for 3 years. Um, so Christine Brennan wrote,
- 52:56there's joy among anti-CC WNBA fans
- 53:00but no joy among TV execs and sponsors. Sad reality
- 53:04hits the W with Fever now out. Based on 3 seasons of viewership data,
- 53:07when Caitlin Clark leaves, half of W's TV audience leaves as
- 53:10well. That's not actually true about that. That's actually a fake. She's also basing this
- 53:14on like regular season stats from like 2024 when she wrote a fucking book about
- 53:17Caitlin Clark. So she's bullshit. Oh, there it is. Oh, she's been selling a
- 53:21book. Did I not tell you? There it is. You did. You fucking buried that
- 53:24lead. Fuck this. Get the fuck out of here. But listen, I do agree
- 53:28because I have seen the numbers on regular season games and the highest rate.
- 53:30And no, Caitlin Clark, the fever's all over. They absolutely— I'm not gonna pretend
- 53:34that, that Caitlin Clark's not a draw. She's absolutely get a draw. But that,
- 53:37like, this disingenuous shit, especially from Caitlin Clark and that thing—
- 53:40interesting that they had more, more free throws than us. Motherfucker,
- 53:44no one's trying to force the fucking aces past you. If anything, they would
- 53:48try to force you past them. Get the fuck out of here with this.
- 53:51You've been the team that got more. Like, we've seen this over and over and
- 53:54over again. Yeah, like, your ass has got fucking— that's a great point, which is
- 53:57like, you— so your theory— but like, that's the thing is,
- 54:02even If let's say she's right, that means they
- 54:06think the aces are a bigger draw than you. So either way, none of this
- 54:10is real. None of what you guys are fucking talking about is real. Like,
- 54:12every one of your narratives are blown up immediately. Oh, they wanted
- 54:17the aces to get through. Well, then the aces are a bigger draw, so that
- 54:19kills your fucking statement. Oh, no, no, no, no. Like,
- 54:23this is, this is just screwed over. Well, it also ruins your fucking thing.
- 54:26Like, I don't know what else to say other than It's like a snake eating
- 54:29its own fucking tail right now. And do you want to know something? You want
- 54:33to know something so interesting? And Jemele Hill reminded people of this on Twitter.
- 54:36I already knew this. Do you remember Caitlin Clark's big Finals run last year?
- 54:41Because I don't. Because I don't think she was in it. They weren't in the—
- 54:44okay. And I do remember the ratings were good. They were the 2nd best WNBA
- 54:49Finals ratings in the history of the WNBA. 2nd highest
- 54:53in the history of the WNBA since like 2001. Oh, Tanya, that doesn't
- 54:57mean anything. You know, the WNBA only started 3 years ago when Caitlin Clark joined
- 55:00this. So that was interesting. Nowhere to be found, second highest
- 55:04ratings. Might have helped that the Phoenix Mercury and the Las Vegas
- 55:09Aces have massive fan bases who actually fucking care.
- 55:11And the greatest player in the world was in the fucking game. Now you're
- 55:16telling me that a Liberty-Aces final, if that was just like a thing or something
- 55:20like that, that's not gonna— shut up. You're telling me if Angel Reese is in
- 55:23the final— shut up. It's gonna be fine. Everybody relax.
- 55:26There are other stars in this league. You know, I talked about it.
- 55:30The ratings would go through the roof if this was Dream Fever.
- 55:34We know it. Yeah, we know it. No question. Angel Reese versus Caitlin
- 55:38Clark final would be fucking through the roof. Awesome.
- 55:41Again, they didn't feel the need to manufacture that, clearly. But also,
- 55:46that's the case for any league. You take the most
- 55:50like the biggest sort of college rivalry with these 2 stars who play
- 55:54together on Team USA and they have this really interesting relationship, and then you
- 55:58pit them. That would— that applies to any league. This is not like unique to
- 56:02the WNBA. We're in the Major League Baseball playoffs right now. What would be it
- 56:05to draw the most ratings? Dodgers-Yankees. I don't think the Yankees are gonna get there.
- 56:08I do think the Dodgers are gonna get there. Yeah, that's a market thing,
- 56:10not so much a— but true. But like, I'm trying to like make a similar
- 56:13correlation. Yeah, it's not because it's star-driven, but yes, the— but it would draw the
- 56:17most ratings. Yeah, Major League Baseball is not gonna fucking force it.
- 56:20No, because they'll get caught. Well, they're not smart enough. Trust me.
- 56:24Dumb dumb. Trust me. So then that's that.
- 56:27Excited for the Aces. Excited. I'm— and here's the thing that sucks. I am
- 56:31relieved that the Fever are out because I like— it's so
- 56:35toxic. It's really bad. The stuff people were saying about A'ja Wilson after she
- 56:39dealt with that fan, like, it gets so racist and it gets so
- 56:42gross. It's not fun. And so, like,
- 56:45I don't— like, I feel very much like the W is fine. So I'm not,
- 56:49like, trying to wish— everybody's fine. But I'm relieved they're gone.
- 56:52And I like Kelsey Mitchell and I like, I like watching Caitlin Clark. I like
- 56:57watching Caitlin Clark. But like the— listen, people get,
- 57:01people get hit, you bleed. Like, I need everybody. It hurts
- 57:05everybody. Everybody, everybody takes everything seriously. Would you believe this? This is going to shock
- 57:09all you motherfuckers. Professional sports, pretty fucking intense. Professional sports,
- 57:13pretty fucking high contact. And even the low contact leagues, Pretty fucking
- 57:17high. Most women are between the heights of 6'1 and 6'5.
- 57:20Like, what do you think? They're out there just being dainty little flowers? Dude,
- 57:24buck up. The most vicious fucking athletes I ever knew were female
- 57:28water polo players at UCLA. They were fucking vicious.
- 57:31Yeah, I was scared of them. Yeah.
- 57:34All right. Our vibe. We got a weird vibe today,
- 57:38and it's not— it's not about to get more— but like, we need to talk
- 57:41about— we need to talk about the Senate passing the Protect College Sports Act.
- 57:45It now moves to a vote in the House, which is very much
- 57:49up in the air. There is not a— there's, there's by no means a
- 57:53strong consensus one way or the other on whether or not this will pass through
- 57:57the House. Here's what I want to lead in with before we
- 58:00get into even more that I learned about what I don't like about this act.
- 58:03And I think you're going to be really annoyed. Oh, boy. I know you already
- 58:06are. I'm already very unhappy. A disappointing
- 58:09number of Democratic senators voted to pass this bill.
- 58:13Now, it's been labeled as bipartisan because it
- 58:16was initiated by also a Democrat along with Ted
- 58:20Cruz. But realistically, this was a, like,
- 58:23conservative and sort of Southern states-led act.
- 58:28I'd love to say it's union breaking, but there is no union. So it didn't
- 58:31break a union. It basically prevents one. It basically created an abortion
- 58:35for a union. Yeah. So then Disappointing
- 58:39number of Democratic senators voted to pass this, including Amy Klobuchar,
- 58:42Jon Ossoff, and Alex Padilla.
- 58:463 people who really disappointed me in that space. I would, I would expect this
- 58:50from Klobuchar because she's done some shady stuff in the past, but Ossoff
- 58:54and Padilla really bummed me out. That really pisses me off.
- 58:57Among the nay votes was both senators from Massachusetts,
- 59:01Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Along with
- 59:04Adam Schiff, Cory Booker, Chris Murphy, Chuck Schumer,
- 59:08Bernie Sanders, a bunch of other ones, and Republicans Rand Paul and Rick
- 59:12Scott. Gotta love Rand Paul going rogue at all times. Slow down.
- 59:16Rand Paul only fucking went rogue because they didn't give a full—
- 59:19which, by the way, Rand Paul tried to sneak this in. I know Rand Paul
- 59:23wanted this to be a full, a fucking full
- 59:28antitrust exemption, meaning send back to the fucking
- 59:31Dark Ages. In fact, so much worse than it ever was. Really funny
- 59:35to be like, this is not shitty enough. This is not— this is
- 59:39not— I'm voting— so I'm voting with Elizabeth Warren. That's right.
- 59:42This, this doesn't hurt fucking disenfranchised
- 59:46Black players enough. No. Yeah, doesn't hurt them enough. You know what, was that probably
- 59:50Rick Scott's issue too? Probably Florida, because like, what is your deal, bro?
- 59:54Amazing. Um, so I will say it was really fascinating, and I actually want
- 59:57your opinion on this before we go into some of the bill issues. Um,
- 1:00:01this, you know, uh, Minnesota, both there who are
- 1:00:05normally pretty liberal and sort of on the right side of things, both their senators
- 1:00:09voted for this bill. Embarrassing.
- 1:00:12We split. Like, thank God for Adam Schiff because Alex Padilla went
- 1:00:16the wrong way. I'm going to literally send a message to Alex Padilla about this,
- 1:00:18by the way. Um, and thank you, Adam Schiff.
- 1:00:22The senators, the, the states with senators that, that stayed
- 1:00:25on board because John Ossoff went against Raphael Warnock. Don't love that.
- 1:00:29I really don't love that. I don't like— I don't understand what the fuck Ossoff's
- 1:00:33doing. I don't either. They were all Northeast
- 1:00:38states completely. It was basically— so it was new. It was
- 1:00:42the bottom half of New England, New York, New Jersey,
- 1:00:46Maryland. So the bluest
- 1:00:49part of the Northeast, and that's it. Small states,
- 1:00:54not a ton of like college football culture. Not saying that there aren't
- 1:00:58great college football teams in New York, Rutgers, Maryland. Like, I got that. But like,
- 1:01:02this feels— and you can tell me if I'm wrong— like states
- 1:01:06who are saying like, from the outside looking in, where we are not run by
- 1:01:10college sports, where our states don't rely on the fucking culture and the
- 1:01:13economy of college sports, we're not fucking passing
- 1:01:17this. And the rest of these senators are like, you don't understand.
- 1:01:20Our constituents want this shit to be like they
- 1:01:24want this. Then explain, explain Padilla to me then. Well, we have
- 1:01:28a shit ton of college sports. I got that. But which college? Come on.
- 1:01:32This is not Southern. This is not SEC territory. But like,
- 1:01:35by and large, you have to look at our economies aren't put together by that.
- 1:01:39That is a very concentrated area of the country that said
- 1:01:43no to this. Like across the board. What is that about? What is that about?
- 1:01:46It's some of the— it's, it's the grouping of people that understand that you can't
- 1:01:50fucking give antitrust exemptions to a fucking organization without
- 1:01:54an ability to have the players union at
- 1:01:57the table. There can be no collective bargaining. Those are people who
- 1:02:01stood on principle. John Ossoff, who's in Georgia, is like, no, I need my Bulldogs
- 1:02:06to get money. I'm really— I need to look into more about what his reasoning
- 1:02:09was because I'm genuinely really annoyed. That's the only thing I can come up with
- 1:02:12off the top of my head. I'm not as surprised by Padilla, but I am
- 1:02:15annoyed. I'm actually very surprised because Adam Schiff went the other way.
- 1:02:19I'm surprised. I've had party solidarity in the— like, that's really weird.
- 1:02:22No, I agree. I don't understand Padilla because he's a California senator,
- 1:02:26right? What fucking California city is based on college
- 1:02:30fucking football? Name it. I know USC and UCLA
- 1:02:34are the biggest colleges in this state. Especially around football right
- 1:02:38now, as he represents this area, that whereas— but his north— but
- 1:02:42the fucking— does the Los Angeles fucking
- 1:02:45economy be based on USC and UCLA football? They are the— no,
- 1:02:50but they're in the fucking Big Ten now, dude.
- 1:02:52That's the problem. They're in— they're in bed with a bunch of fucking
- 1:02:56teams from— and so like, he's also making good with all those senators
- 1:03:00too, which is like crazy. And I'm not even defending it.
- 1:03:03It's just bullshit. It fucking pisses me off, dude. It's such dog shit. It's just,
- 1:03:07it just goes against all the principles of what this should be about. Like,
- 1:03:10if we were to do this, great. A union needs to be created. A head
- 1:03:14of the union needs to be created. A CBA needs to be built.
- 1:03:18That's not being— that's not happening. This is, this is seemingly all
- 1:03:22part of the plan to roll this back so basically the SEC schools can get
- 1:03:25back to paying people under the fucking table so the SEC can get big again.
- 1:03:29ESPN Rolling out every fucking politician they can in primetime spots
- 1:03:33so they can go ahead and get their words out. No union person on the
- 1:03:36players' side is out there because there isn't fucking one. This is a fucking shit
- 1:03:41show. It's really bad. So opponents of the bill, from labor
- 1:03:45groups to athlete organizations to the NCAA— I always get that wrong—
- 1:03:49NAACP, along with the 22 senators
- 1:03:53who voted against it, say it unfairly places limits on athletes. Athletes without allowing them
- 1:03:57an equal seat at the table. We've said this. Here's where things
- 1:04:00get interesting. Some more stuff that sort of expands upon what we've talked
- 1:04:04about before. I think the better way to frame it is to protect the NCAA
- 1:04:08Act, which you and I have said, said Sam Ehrlich, an associate
- 1:04:12professor at Boise State who tracks college sports litigation. It gives the NCAA significant
- 1:04:17institutional power to be able to continue to control college sports
- 1:04:20at the expense of athletes who've been able to push the NCAA on some of
- 1:04:23their illegal business practices over the years. Compensation for coaches
- 1:04:27and administration has grown exponentially.
- 1:04:30On September 15th, Cantwell released
- 1:04:35a report citing major increases in costs from 2005 to 2023:
- 1:04:39322% in recruiting costs,
- 1:04:42nearly 300% in sports equipment, around 250%
- 1:04:47in both medical and game day expenses, and more than 200% in
- 1:04:51travel. Coaching salaries increased from 2005 to
- 1:04:552023, a whopping 370%
- 1:05:00over the same period. Big league athletic departments have increasingly
- 1:05:04added positions like general managers and in-house video production crews that
- 1:05:08were once the exclusive domain of, of professional teams. The bill's
- 1:05:12supporters point to provisions around women's and Olympic
- 1:05:17sports that require schools to maintain scholarships and roster spots for such programs. But those
- 1:05:20provisions expire after 9 years for large schools and
- 1:05:24after 4 years for mid-sized schools. And exemptions could be made
- 1:05:28for schools with failing athletics revenue or other demonstrable
- 1:05:31financial hardship. So this— even the protections
- 1:05:35they keep touting around women's sports and Olympic sports are
- 1:05:39not actually fully protected because there's a way to have an exemption.
- 1:05:43370% increase in
- 1:05:47college coaching salaries,
- 1:05:51in-game production houses or in-house production
- 1:05:56general managers. No CBA,
- 1:06:00no player representation in any of the conversations around this act.
- 1:06:04No player representation if this were to pass.
- 1:06:08This is so bad. It's so bad that
- 1:06:12I now have beef with senators. Yeah.
- 1:06:16Senators that I have voted for. Yeah. And I will—
- 1:06:20I'm not voting for you. I will literally like— I'm having— I interviewed
- 1:06:24Alex Padilla in June. I went to the Capitol,
- 1:06:28sat down in his office. What the fuck were you thinking? And I sat
- 1:06:32with him and talked to him. And I am so
- 1:06:35disappointed. I'm so fucking disappointed.
- 1:06:39And I am going to go and look, and I am going to reach out
- 1:06:42to his camp and find out what the fuck happened here. And I
- 1:06:46am going to look at our representatives who are going to be voting on this
- 1:06:50in the House and find out what their plans are. Because whoever
- 1:06:54represents us in the House— can't think of them right now because God forbid,
- 1:06:58I'd like— it's too many fucking people. They're voting on this and I'm
- 1:07:03pissed. When are they voting on this? Because Congress seems to be suspended quite a
- 1:07:06bit. Early November. Okay. Well,
- 1:07:10yeah, maybe Thomas Massie will, like, threaten to name more Epstein people
- 1:07:14and they'll just suspend Congress for another 5 months. So that's the
- 1:07:17update on that in case you guys want to look at— infuriating.
- 1:07:20If you want to look at who— if your senator,
- 1:07:24you know, take a look at how they voted and if they voted Yay.
- 1:07:28I would look into why. I would really look into why, because we
- 1:07:31are, we are looking at a bill that is going to decimate
- 1:07:34player rights. Yes. They say that they're going to keep NIL. They'll keep
- 1:07:38NIL, but it will not. It will be very— it will be so
- 1:07:42much more similar to what was happening before with players getting paid under the table.
- 1:07:45And the power structure, more importantly, will benefit not
- 1:07:51only the NCAA, but it will allow them to collude. And that is, it's going
- 1:07:55to destroy this. It's just a fucking embarrassment. I just,
- 1:07:58like, I even tweeted out the other day that this is all the point.
- 1:08:02You know, NCAA definitely deserves themselves some antitrust exemptions
- 1:08:06because they've, they had their history of, of not fucking over student athletes.
- 1:08:10It's just acceptable now. They should be getting rid of the antitrust in fucking professional
- 1:08:14sports. Altogether. Let alone adding more on. It's fucking embarrassing. Like, what fucking
- 1:08:19universe am I in? And the Democrats that voted for this I am a fucking
- 1:08:21Democrat. The Democrats that voted yes on this, dude, fuck all
- 1:08:25of you. It's like the most anti-democratic thing you can
- 1:08:28do. It's so anti-union. It is so anti-taking care of the little guy,
- 1:08:32dude. What the fuck? That's why— this is why I don't identify as
- 1:08:36a Democrat. I'm registered as one because I'm registered as one, but like, I don't
- 1:08:40because like, I'm left. I'm left of all these people. They don't represent— like,
- 1:08:44so many of them don't actually represent— angers me— the left.
- 1:08:48And like, I do— I will say this is where my Massachusetts elitism
- 1:08:52sometimes comes through because Massachusetts is not a perfect state. But like, God, it is
- 1:08:56so rare that the Massachusetts senators don't land on the
- 1:09:00right side of this shit. And I'm— I want
- 1:09:04to make this— but I hear you. But I want to make this abundantly clear.
- 1:09:05I'm— the guy I'm most disappointed in is Padilla. And I'm sure you are
- 1:09:09as well. Very much like he's at the very top of my list.
- 1:09:12Also, if you're number 2, But I'm like, I'm really, really frustrated,
- 1:09:15especially because it's like, damn, like I just— I had a conversation
- 1:09:20with you a couple months ago about like, you know, standing up for the,
- 1:09:23for the locals in the community and the people who deserve it the most and
- 1:09:27blah blah blah. And it turns out shilling for the NCAA— turns out, turns out
- 1:09:30the little guy's the NCAA because of those big bad athletes getting money.
- 1:09:34Make sure you stay good with the people in fucking Michigan and Ohio.
- 1:09:37Like, okay, cool. I just got nothing. Like, that, that just pisses me
- 1:09:41off to a degree I can't even remotely
- 1:09:44begin to describe. Like, it just makes me fucking sick.
- 1:09:47It's so fucking exploitative. It's so disgusting.
- 1:09:51It's just like players and NCAA athletes just
- 1:09:55got power, just got a seat at the table. And by the way, I'm using
- 1:09:58seat at the table figuratively because clearly they don't have a fucking seat at the
- 1:10:02table because now just all the cronies are out, you know, ESPN.
- 1:10:05Fucking, fucking ESPN. Just, just makes
- 1:10:09me fucking sick. This is, this is how it feels. Stitch Jen said, we are
- 1:10:12in fucking hell. We are. We're in hell.
- 1:10:16This is fucked up. Like, I, you know, I, I don't—
- 1:10:20Isaiah says the, the whole thing is anti-American. It is. Oh no,
- 1:10:24also Ossoff is a Trojan horse. He might be. I'm fucking starting to think that.
- 1:10:28I, I— he's too handsome for his own good. He's a really good looking guy.
- 1:10:31Yeah, that's the problem. Um, I'm in the same way
- 1:10:35in registration but say something different in person. Tiara, it's like,
- 1:10:40that's the thing is like, I'm not— yeah, I don't— you, you have
- 1:10:43to— I'm obviously gonna— in California you have to register as a Democrat
- 1:10:47to get a Democrat ballot. And like, obviously I would never vote— I, I literally
- 1:10:51never vote red ever in my life. Me neither. But like, I also like,
- 1:10:54this is getting frustrating. It really
- 1:10:58fucking makes me mad. Like, it just, it just does. It's like How about this?
- 1:11:01Forget, forget party lines. Forget all the party lines. Forget the red.
- 1:11:04Forget the blue. Forget all of this shit. Can we just— let's just, let's just
- 1:11:08boil this down. Fucking right and wrong.
- 1:11:12Right and wrong. That's it. Like, the amount of people that just vote
- 1:11:16for wrong is fucking insane. It's fucking insane. It's like,
- 1:11:19it's like none of you were raised by decent people. None of you are decent
- 1:11:23people. All of you are fucked up. It's just like, I don't fucking get it.
- 1:11:25It's fucking insane. State. Why do you not know the difference between right or wrong?
- 1:11:29And why are 4 tiny-ass states in the Northeast
- 1:11:33fighting more for the representation of your massive
- 1:11:37swaths of Black athletes in this country than your piece of shit
- 1:11:41senators? And that, you know what I mean?
- 1:11:44Like, what the fuck? Like, and I mean,
- 1:11:47I obviously know, like, I have my guess, but it just is bullshit. It's bullshit.
- 1:11:51Fucking drives me nuts. That's— but, and again, oh God, why are you guys
- 1:11:54talking about politics? Sports are politics. Yeah, they always have been, they always will be.
- 1:11:58It's just gotten louder lately, and some of you are now finally starting to wake
- 1:12:01up. So we're never— I'm never gonna not talk about politics. Always. That's what— that's
- 1:12:05what we do. This— this is a sports podcast that talks about things that actually
- 1:12:10matter. And you know what's so cool about us? What's that? We know ball.
- 1:12:13Yeah. So like, we break down games, we talk ball, we get into the nitty-gritty,
- 1:12:17and then we rant about fucking politics, and then We get
- 1:12:21into Media Corner and shit on them too because they're part of that too.
- 1:12:24Let's fucking go, Media Corner! Hit it, Mocha.
- 1:12:28So, um, Tony Romo,
- 1:12:31uh, and CBS Sports have parted ways after his July OWI arrest.
- 1:12:36They, they've, they've made it clear they are done with Tony Romo.
- 1:12:40The financial terms of the separation weren't disclosed, but The Athletic's Andrew
- 1:12:43Marchand reported that roughly 4 years and $72 million remained on the
- 1:12:48deal when he was arrested. He released a statement of his own shortly after CBS's
- 1:12:53announcement, his first public comments since September 1st, in which
- 1:12:56he acknowledged an overreliance on alcohol while trying to
- 1:13:00wean himself off pain medication and said he hoped to eventually return to the network.
- 1:13:05It's a pretty stunning fall for an analyst who once
- 1:13:08was sort of like, oh wow, this is the future of commentating, right? And over
- 1:13:13the years, you know, he replaced Phil Simms in 2017 and And
- 1:13:17was kind of an instant sensation. Like, really was really, really great. Like, people loved
- 1:13:20it. And I got to say, he was really, really good. He was great.
- 1:13:22He was really fucking good. And I genuinely do credit him
- 1:13:25with a shift in the position by the quarterbacks
- 1:13:30who joined the booth since. I do think we don't get this
- 1:13:34iteration of Tom Brady without him. I agree. And so I do
- 1:13:38genuinely credit him. Which, to Fox's credit, Tom Brady's doing really well. Really well.
- 1:13:42He really threw a meatball sub last fucking— that? Did you hear that? Like,
- 1:13:45fuck yeah, I heard that last week. Gorgeous. I'm not gonna swear, I'm gonna still
- 1:13:49be weird. He's so weird, but best. Fuck, he is doing
- 1:13:53really well. He is. Um, but we don't get that, you know. We were stuck
- 1:13:56in a, in, in a 20-year cycle of people, you know,
- 1:14:00really trying to replicate one style of color commentating. And,
- 1:14:04um, it was like, not everybody is going to be able to do what,
- 1:14:08you know, John Madden and, and these these guys were doing, and it
- 1:14:12just wasn't working. And then they were trying to be Troy Aikman, and that wasn't
- 1:14:15working, and it was all rough. Um, but you know,
- 1:14:19his reputation faded in the last couple years. People started questioning his
- 1:14:22preparation. He would fill airtime with kind of like
- 1:14:26non-sequiturs and weird bullshit. He was getting— he got lazy.
- 1:14:29He got lazy. He got complacent. He was tasting himself. He's the
- 1:14:33face of Corona all of a sudden during the football season. It's like, it was,
- 1:14:37it was just awkward. It system. Oh yeah, that, that aged poorly.
- 1:14:40Um, listen, there— I under— like,
- 1:14:44I understand everybody turning on him and his commentary because I did think he got
- 1:14:47lazy. I did not like his work for the last couple of years. That's part
- 1:14:50of my theory. That's part of— do you want me to debut my theory?
- 1:14:52I would love you to debut your theory because I think our theory is exactly
- 1:14:55the same. Okay, go ahead. Um, I— this
- 1:15:00makes me a little bit sad. Yeah, but not in the way that I'm like,
- 1:15:03he should absolutely be able to keep his job and Like, no, there should be
- 1:15:07like no issue with it. I don't drunk drive. Don't, don't— like, there are
- 1:15:11consequences to these things, and I think seeing consequences is like
- 1:15:16fair and reasonable. Yeah. Um, but I don't
- 1:15:19like the way— I don't like what players endure quietly
- 1:15:24after retirement and what is
- 1:15:27unspoken about the things that we see and And
- 1:15:32Tony Romo having a drinking problem very
- 1:15:36clearly and being in retirement, there are
- 1:15:39a lot of studies that have been done over the years, both by NFL-funded studies
- 1:15:43and independent studies in the realm of understanding
- 1:15:48what happens with retired NFL players, their relationship to alcohol,
- 1:15:51opioids, anything that's sort of mind-numbing. We're talking about players
- 1:15:56who have endured several concussions. Tony Romo absolutely dealt with a lot of head injuries.
- 1:16:01And, um, he talks about trying to get off
- 1:16:04pain meds. What were those pain— like,
- 1:16:08this dude is hurt. He's in pain. He's in the kind
- 1:16:12of pain that even you as a former player who's constantly in
- 1:16:16pain— just full transparency, uh, just to explain
- 1:16:19that, uh, I am like constantly in pain.
- 1:16:23Like, and I was a baseball player. I caught a little, but I did a
- 1:16:26lot of catching work, and I played for 11 years, and I played Like baseball
- 1:16:29is, compared to football, is anything but a high-intensity contact sport.
- 1:16:34Um, I had plenty of contact, make no mistake. There is contact, there's plenty of
- 1:16:37contact, make no mistake, but it's not fucking— you can get hit in the head
- 1:16:39by like balls, and I have been hit in the head multiple times. Trust me.
- 1:16:42Uh, my hands hurt like non-stop,
- 1:16:46my hips hurt non-stop. I have—
- 1:16:49I still have a torn UCL, a torn rotator cuff, a torn labrum.
- 1:16:53I have a have a fucked up, uh, right ankle that has— that needs surgery,
- 1:16:57but I'm never gonna get it. Um, I am in perpetual
- 1:17:01pain, and I've just gotten used to it. So I can only imagine
- 1:17:05how much pain Tony Romo is at all times. I truly
- 1:17:09can only imagine. Because what you're doing is you're thinking about all the pain you're
- 1:17:12in. You're taking— you know, Marshawn Lynch just talked about them,
- 1:17:16like, measuring how many car crashes he was in Objectively
- 1:17:20in the— across the course of a game, like, like 30-mile-an-hour,
- 1:17:2470-mile-an-hour car crashes. Can't stress enough.
- 1:17:27So you have all this pain. Even let's say his, his physical pain is
- 1:17:31as bad as yours. Let's say it's 10% more. Let's say that's all it
- 1:17:35is. Let's say it's 10% more. Now you add in the amount of concussions,
- 1:17:40the amount of times your brain's been scrambled, and what
- 1:17:44that does to you. Like what that does and all the— and like,
- 1:17:49I— when I— so when I hear about substance abuse and
- 1:17:53you see somebody who is a really good NFL quarterback and a really
- 1:17:56bright-futured NFL analyst,
- 1:18:00somebody who was doing great in the booth as a color commentator, and you
- 1:18:03watch the decline in his— in the
- 1:18:07quality of his work, you see somebody who is sort
- 1:18:11of exhibiting the signs of a drunk at work. I don't
- 1:18:15mean to, and that's not me being shitty about Tony Romo, like being
- 1:18:19like just not being able to show up talking about random bullshit on
- 1:18:23air. All I can think about is all of
- 1:18:27these men who've talked about this feeling in
- 1:18:31retirement and what happens to their bodies, what happens to their brains
- 1:18:35and what they do to cope. So it's not like I'd like, I don't,
- 1:18:38this just bums me out because it's just like another sort of like the
- 1:18:42NFL, it just feels like they're sort of drop-kicking him
- 1:18:45into like the next, like, figure it out. And I, and I,
- 1:18:50I know he's a gajillionaire with all the resources in the world. I do
- 1:18:54know that. But I don't like that they don't— that we don't acknowledge that Tony
- 1:18:58Romo is very likely dealing with pain, head trauma,
- 1:19:02and substance abuse that's related to that from playing.
- 1:19:06And they're just like Oh well, he drank and so— so like,
- 1:19:10it's the same thing as these dudes who end up putting bullets to their chest.
- 1:19:13It's like, well, you know, he drank himself and
- 1:19:17drugged himself and had all these problems until he killed himself.
- 1:19:20Like, no, it's not all not related. And I
- 1:19:24don't want to sit in this moment and not look and see like somebody who's
- 1:19:27clearly struggling regardless of whether you— like, we can judge
- 1:19:31what he did and say it was wrong. And also understand that, like,
- 1:19:34I don't want in 10 years to hear that Tony Romo was living
- 1:19:38in an apartment alone and put a bullet through his chest. Like,
- 1:19:42and it sounds so crazy because people
- 1:19:45don't understand how degenerative this is and how, like, how quickly it
- 1:19:49can go. That's what happens. That is absolutely
- 1:19:52what happens. And I feel like we're never alarmist enough about this stuff.
- 1:19:56So this is not to say that CBS shouldn't part ways. But I do think
- 1:20:00that there's like a little bit of like, I can't consume the NFL with the
- 1:20:04amount that I do. I can't benefit off of it, profit off of talking about
- 1:20:08it without also acknowledging that like, this bums me out. It does.
- 1:20:12Like, I'm not going to sit here on my high horse and be like,
- 1:20:13you should do better while I watch them get their brains beaten. Yeah, I'm not
- 1:20:17doing that. I feel bad for Tony Romo in this situation. This does suck.
- 1:20:20He had a great run, by the way. Make no mistake, he was a great
- 1:20:24NFL quarterback. He wasn't like— he's not going to gonna go down in history.
- 1:20:27But like, he was great. No, no. And by the way, I'm also saying like,
- 1:20:30I also— as a commentator too, like, he had a really good run. 9 years.
- 1:20:34Crazy that he's been doing that for 9 years. Um, yeah, I mean, in the
- 1:20:37last like 5 have kind of sucked. They have sucked, and I'll freely admit that.
- 1:20:40But you know, my, my issue is that like, it wasn't that, but it's— you
- 1:20:44make a very, very good point. Yeah, it's a little dark when you get into
- 1:20:47that. I mean, the comments are sort of talking about too, like, just their— the
- 1:20:50injuries that they've endured Um, yeah, and like blown
- 1:20:54out knees. I did it halfway through my junior year and I haven't been able
- 1:20:57to kneel since. Dude, it's tough. Like, it's brutal, you know? That, that is a
- 1:21:00crazy thing to be dealing with. Like, still,
- 1:21:03like, these, these— even in our comment sections,
- 1:21:07like, understand just how deeply painful these
- 1:21:11injuries can last for the rest of your life. And we still—
- 1:21:15like, people still don't understand how violent that sport is. It's crazy.
- 1:21:18Even now it's gone soft. It's gone soft.
- 1:21:21Oh, fuck off. Fuck off. You know what, also the guys are bigger and
- 1:21:25stronger than they ever were. Yeah. And by the way, you, you, you, um,
- 1:21:28you old heads, like, it was tougher in our day. Motherfucker, you guys wouldn't make
- 1:21:31this league based on the size and speed these guys are. By the way,
- 1:21:35Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald, like, if they
- 1:21:38exist— like, if you took them right now and put them in 1977,
- 1:21:42they would be aliens. The Steelers wouldn't, wouldn't get
- 1:21:46a touchdown. Not one. Not fucking— oh, the steel curtain, my ass.
- 1:21:49Yeah, I do this all the time with baseball. Like, like, and, and by the
- 1:21:52way, I was a pro, but like, I cannot compete. I retired in 2019.
- 1:21:57I cannot compete in today's Major League Baseball. It's gotten that
- 1:22:01much more difficult since I retired, and I only retired in 2019.
- 1:22:05Like, I'm not— and the old heads from the '90s, like, we were better back
- 1:22:09then. Motherfucker, you saw 3 guys that threw above 92 to. They are the— like,
- 1:22:13everybody throws 105 now. Fuck off. These pass rushers are the same size and
- 1:22:17stronger and faster. They are. And that's what I'm saying. You're talking about— if you're
- 1:22:20talking about like Terry Bradshaw doesn't see a fucking Super Bowl ring. Oh, if on
- 1:22:24the other side every time was Myles Garrett and fucking TJ
- 1:22:28Watt. Be real clear, it's just a different world. It's a different game. Doesn't mean
- 1:22:32they weren't phenomenal in their game. Their game was just different. No, it's relative.
- 1:22:35It's relative. It's relative. But like, it's, it's crazy. Like Lawrence Taylor for
- 1:22:39his time, there's nothing— no one's going to beat the dominance. But like
- 1:22:43right now, that dude would be slow as hell. Now, that being said, Lawrence Taylor
- 1:22:46would probably have modern technology, modern workouts. He'd probably be one of the best
- 1:22:50in the game right now. Yeah. When you pull— if you just pulled him from
- 1:22:531986, if you pulled him from 1986 and put him in now, of course
- 1:22:57I love— like, I do the same thing all the time where I'm like,
- 1:22:59no, if that athlete was born in this— I told you this on the show
- 1:23:03where I was like, imagine if Barry Bonds was born in 2001. I can only
- 1:23:05imagine what he'd have. I don't know what he'd fucking do right now. But it'd
- 1:23:08probably be crazy. Maybe he'd be Shohei. Maybe he'd be pitching too. Maybe. I'm just
- 1:23:12saying, like, it's just— it's one of those things that really irks me, and it's
- 1:23:16kind of a tragic thing. My theory was more along the lines of just CBS
- 1:23:20just got what they needed. And you're— and also that CBS
- 1:23:24wanted the out. But why would they want the out that bad? Because they were
- 1:23:28working with an alcoholic. Like, maybe— like, I mean, let's be honest, we don't
- 1:23:32have like a bunch of fucking like studs calling games all over the
- 1:23:36place. Nobody has liked Chris Collinsworth for 25 years, and the dude's
- 1:23:40job is rock solid. This is not about like, you know what
- 1:23:44I mean? It's like having complaints about,
- 1:23:48about color commentators is nothing new. Tony Romo
- 1:23:51was really struggling to do that job, and you cannot tell me
- 1:23:55that his ability to do it for the first couple of years just disappeared
- 1:23:59out of nowhere because he didn't care to do the job anymore. I don't believe
- 1:24:03that. Well, these guys don't want anything, anything more than
- 1:24:06being proximate to the game. Well, they don't want anything more
- 1:24:10than that. That's what's so important to them. That's why these dudes
- 1:24:14do everything they can to stay close to it. Well, so you are right.
- 1:24:18They were looking for the excuse and they got it. And I wish that instead
- 1:24:21of doing that, they had been like, what if you— we're putting you on
- 1:24:24leave until you go to rehab. Yes. But instead they just let him fucking
- 1:24:28drive himself into potentially a deadly situation. And I'm worried
- 1:24:31about it, but I hopefully, hopefully Hopefully that doesn't end up being the case.
- 1:24:34But don't worry, we're gonna go from one dark story to a much darker one.
- 1:24:38Sorry, we don't make the rules. Boy, oh boy, the headlines. Fuck me,
- 1:24:42Media Corner 2, Prime Video.
- 1:24:45Boy, boy, fucking boy,
- 1:24:50you guys really want to rehabilitate Deshaun
- 1:24:54fucking Watson, huh? They do. Fuck me,
- 1:24:58Tony Gonzalez, Prime Video, go all in.
- 1:25:02Between Taylor Rooks pressing Deshaun Watson on the skepticism
- 1:25:07Browns fans still feel toward him, Al Michaels waving off
- 1:25:10what he said was, quote, the whole Deshaun Watson thing as
- 1:25:15a story everybody already knows. Prime Video's Thursday
- 1:25:19Night Football coverage had already devoted considerable airtime to how the public ought
- 1:25:24to regard the Browns quarterback. And after Cleveland's win over
- 1:25:28Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Gonzalez Tony, to be specific,
- 1:25:32weighed in on the postgame show lauding Watson for the
- 1:25:36obstacles he's overcome both on and off the field. He said, you can't
- 1:25:40say enough about the shot, and we talked about it in the pregame show,
- 1:25:44the adversity that he's gone through on the field, off the field,
- 1:25:47everybody doubting him, the home crowd right there. They're going to be cheering
- 1:25:51for him from here on out, but the stuff that he's gone through, you have
- 1:25:55to take your hat off to him and say, wow, Because he looks fantastic.
- 1:25:59This is a very good football team, but Deshaun Watson, to me, man,
- 1:26:02I'm so proud and happy.
- 1:26:07Yeah. Yeah. By the way, I'm putting up my middle finger.
- 1:26:10Fuck you. Fuck you. This is the most embarrassing shit
- 1:26:14I've ever seen. Did you go to— are you— were you a part of some
- 1:26:16sort of, I don't know, Cornell fraternity? That's the only thing I can come
- 1:26:19up with. Hey, well, I mean, I'm not gonna say too much,
- 1:26:23but Tony Gonzalez,
- 1:26:28he doesn't have the best reputation. I'm not gonna say— I'm not
- 1:26:32gonna say he's a Deshaun Watson style person. I've not heard that.
- 1:26:37I wouldn't date him. I wouldn't either. I would— and not based on this.
- 1:26:40Not based on this. Oh, good to know. Just listen, all I know is that
- 1:26:44was the most embarrassing fucking thing I think I've ever seen said out loud.
- 1:26:47You motherfucker. Like, rehabilitating— this
- 1:26:51is just Adversity? Fucking adversity? Adversity is tearing
- 1:26:55your knee in a hero's moment and rehabbing yourself back,
- 1:26:59not fucking tearing your Achilles on the side of a highway after
- 1:27:03you've been accused by 24 fucking people of the same fucking thing
- 1:27:06and you paid them all off and the NFL gave you roughly no fucking
- 1:27:09punishment after you signed a guaranteed contract of over $200
- 1:27:12fucking million, which was also the most embarrassing thing that's happened in sports
- 1:27:18in the last 10 years. And the fact that we are even— the fact that
- 1:27:20I'm even talking about this right now is fucking insane. The fact that this happened
- 1:27:24the same week with everything that's surrounding the fucking thing that's happening in America with
- 1:27:27the Cornell thing is fucking insane to me. Why? Wait, fucking insane. Just Cornell.
- 1:27:31Kendall Francis got fucking— they proved she got raped
- 1:27:35by an LSU football player. They proved it.
- 1:27:40The, the Title IX office said, we know you were forcibly raped
- 1:27:44by an NFL football player. He's going to be suspended for a year, no campus
- 1:27:48activities, has to be banned from campus. He appeals it. The judge says, you know
- 1:27:51what, you definitely did it, so you still have to be punished, but we're going
- 1:27:53to repeal— we're going to take away the suspension. All you have to
- 1:27:57do is 4 semesters of community— 4 semesters of probation and
- 1:28:01restored to the team. So currently there is a girl who
- 1:28:05the campus Title IX office admits was forcibly raped by an LSU
- 1:28:08player, and he is allowed to be
- 1:28:12on campus and on the football team. So it is not even like this
- 1:28:17is so tied into sports that like beyond even the Cornell thing.
- 1:28:21And the reality is that like we
- 1:28:26don't actually need to do any of this. This rehab
- 1:28:30situation doesn't need to happen. You could have focused on so
- 1:28:34many other players on that team. You could have focused on Todd Monken
- 1:28:38as a, as a new head coach. You could have focused on this
- 1:28:42revamped defense without Myles Garrett. Denzel Ward
- 1:28:46is a great player. All these players. And you chose
- 1:28:49to do this, to rehab this. And this is an owner decision.
- 1:28:53By the way, that $230 million guaranteed contract that he got
- 1:28:57was so egregious and so stupid and pissed everybody off so much that
- 1:29:01a bunch of other players who deserve the contract can't get it because they're
- 1:29:05Black quarterback. They just happen to be Black quarterbacks. Who were negotiating their contracts
- 1:29:09after Deshaun Watson. So Kyler Murray and Russell
- 1:29:14Wilson and Lamar Jackson get fucked. Don't worry, don't worry though,
- 1:29:17Josh Allen got his guaranteed money. He got $250 million guaranteed.
- 1:29:21The rest of them had to fight for it, got colluded against, lost in that
- 1:29:24collusion case, even though the collusion— the third party said, we know you tried to
- 1:29:28collude, we just can't prove that you successfully did it. That's all because of this
- 1:29:30motherfucker. But Tony Gonzalez, don't worry, Tony Gonzalez is
- 1:29:34really proud of the dude who sexually assaulted
- 1:29:39and harassed 27 women for finally getting
- 1:29:42to play 3 not-of-the-worst games we've ever seen
- 1:29:47in a row for $230 million. I literally want to
- 1:29:50fucking rip my own hair extensions out.
- 1:29:55If I had hair still, I'd rip it out myself. I don't know what the
- 1:29:59fuck and say other than fucking embarrassing Tony Gonzalez. Fucking embarrassing Tony Gonzalez.
- 1:30:02Fucking embarrassing Tony Gonzalez.
- 1:30:06I don't know how the fuck you look yourself in the mirror. Actually, I do.
- 1:30:09You're fucking dumber than shit. That's probably how you look yourself in the mirror.
- 1:30:12Fucking embarrassing. Just fucking embarrassing. The whole production was embarrassing.
- 1:30:16Even— I don't— poor Taylor Rooks had to do the fucking interview with him.
- 1:30:20Fucking— that was embarrassing. Fucking everything. And the people fucking
- 1:30:24tying themselves into knots trying to turn this motherfucker into a folk hero. Makes me
- 1:30:27fucking sick. You know who I'm proud of? I'm proud of Geno Smith,
- 1:30:31who's been gone team to team to team and keeps succeeding,
- 1:30:35keeps succeeding, keeps proving people wrong, keeps trying,
- 1:30:39keeps uplifting the teammates around him.
- 1:30:42I'm proud of Geno Smith. Me too. I'm proud of Lamar Jackson, who entered
- 1:30:45this league being told he shouldn't be a fucking quarterback and became a 2,
- 1:30:48almost 3-time MVP and is an all-time,
- 1:30:51already a fucking first ballot Hall of Fame level talent.
- 1:30:54That's who I'm proud of. I'm proud of players who come back from
- 1:30:58broken legs. I'm proud of Marcus Mariota. If you want
- 1:31:02to talk about quarterbacks that you are proud of,
- 1:31:06there are so many for you to talk about. Jacoby Brissett,
- 1:31:09who has spent his career being a backup who steps up.
- 1:31:13He's not the QB. He's the QB who stepped up every
- 1:31:17fucking time. No, no, no, no, but they didn't go through the adversity
- 1:31:21that Deshaun Watson went through. Oh no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:31:25no, no, no, he only got— all he did was get 27 credible accusations,
- 1:31:29pay them all off, get roughly no pay punishment at all,
- 1:31:32and get paid $230 million guaranteed. Yeah,
- 1:31:35the adversity that he's put himself through. Tony Gonzalez,
- 1:31:39fucking dipshit. Like, what are we even talking about
- 1:31:44anymore? Who we're proud of. So proud. So proud.
- 1:31:48Oh my God. I can't think of somebody less—
- 1:31:53like, all you had to do— proud. All you had to
- 1:31:56do was not talk about it. You're Amazon. You got the game. I'm not blaming
- 1:32:01you for getting the Browns game. All you had to do was
- 1:32:04just not center Deshaun Watson. There are—
- 1:32:08these are 52 men. This isn't even a fucking starting 5 in basketball. Like,
- 1:32:12I would understand If you got like— if this was LeBron
- 1:32:16James, you're like, uh-oh, there's only 5 dudes we can talk to. Yeah,
- 1:32:19there's a lot of guys out there. 52 other
- 1:32:22players and the fucking coach, and you're like,
- 1:32:25you know, we must sit down with Taylor. By the way, we're gonna
- 1:32:29take Taylor Rooks, sit her down, and make her interview
- 1:32:33a fucking sexual predator. Great,
- 1:32:36love it, we love to see it. And I'm not putting anything on Taylor Rooks.
- 1:32:39Maybe she wanted to do it, maybe she didn't. I'm not putting By the way,
- 1:32:42just for the record, Deshaun Watson, how he's handled this year, making himself out to
- 1:32:46be some sort of fucking victim. Just fuck all of this. Fuck all of this.
- 1:32:50Honestly, fuck all of this. I, I don't
- 1:32:54care who it is. If it's not the Ravens, I'll take the Steelers.
- 1:32:58I'll take the Bengals. I don't care who it is until that man is not
- 1:33:03playing football. I cannot, I cannot with that
- 1:33:07team. Those players deserve better. The fans who have never
- 1:33:10rooted for Deshaun Watson deserve better. And those women,
- 1:33:14more than anything, 27 women, the majority
- 1:33:17of whom are Black women. Black women,
- 1:33:21by the way. So this isn't— don't give me, don't give me, oh,
- 1:33:25you hate the Black. No, his victims were Black women.
- 1:33:29That's why you don't give a fuck. I could— those are
- 1:33:32the people who deserve to be out from underneath this piece of shit.
- 1:33:36I don't care if he throws for 10 touchdowns. I don't care if he does
- 1:33:39shit we've never seen before in my life. I want to never
- 1:33:42see him again. And anybody with an ounce of credibility
- 1:33:46in this industry— and you know what, Takoti, an ounce of talent in this industry—
- 1:33:50would have been able to create a broadcast that was capable of
- 1:33:53telling the story of the Browns without highlighting some sort of bullshit redemption story
- 1:33:57for Deshaun Watson. But they couldn't because they're untalented,
- 1:34:01uncreative, Dick-sucking losers. That's who's
- 1:34:04running these fucking broadcasts. No notes.
- 1:34:08Perfect. No notes. So guys, I'm so sorry this was such an
- 1:34:12intense show, but the reality is sometimes shit gets intense. Um, but we do have
- 1:34:16a ton of extra amazing football coming up. Uh,
- 1:34:19Cody and I do have a— an event that we're going to that might interrupt
- 1:34:24our ability to see the back end of some games. No, no,
- 1:34:27we're gonna watch the back end of some games. We might miss a little bit
- 1:34:30final game that night because we are going to an event, but we will be
- 1:34:33posting things about said event and we'll have some good— because we're going to look
- 1:34:36fucking awesome. Yeah, yeah, we're going to look real, real good. Lots of, lots of
- 1:34:40great stuff coming up. Thank you guys for listening to us rant.
- 1:34:43Sometimes we, we're going to get to this point. We did
- 1:34:47have a fun pop culture corner thing today, but listen,
- 1:34:51sometimes shit needs to be said. Turns out we have some senators we really don't
- 1:34:55like right now. And it turns out that we have a lot of people that
- 1:34:58are really cool with sexual assault. This is a perfect time to talk about,
- 1:35:01which brings me to Pop Culture Corner. Hey, we did it! We are at the
- 1:35:03point where we can start getting some paid subscriber,
- 1:35:07um, we can start doing paid subscriber perks.
- 1:35:11And I was thinking that there might be nights where, you know, maybe Pop
- 1:35:15Culture Corner doesn't make it in the regular show, we do it in a separate
- 1:35:18show. Yeah, we give a little— so like we get a little bit of that
- 1:35:20extra little fun. But it's like an extra segment. Are there some other things that
- 1:35:24we can do that like, yeah, we cut it off and then we get our
- 1:35:27paid guys over to kind of have fun with us in the, in the group
- 1:35:31chat over there? Maybe, maybe we throw Mocha a couple extra bucks.
- 1:35:34Finally, finally we get Mocha paid some extra bucks.
- 1:35:37Something in the works on that so that we, when we do have these intense

- 1:35:49we are just fucking amazing. We are beautiful and we are talented. God, we're fucking
- 1:35:52hot as shit too. That's the other thing. That's the other thing.
