- Brandon: Well, what's going on? Welcome once again to the Daily Word Podcast. Man, am I excited that you are joining us today? And I believe I got a word for you. got something that I'm so excited about. Just feel like God spoke to me today in our daily read through. But let me give you a little introduction at first, just to remind you, in case it's your first time. my name is Brandon, one of the pastors here at our church, and We do this every single day, really with two goals in mind. One to bring an encouragement to you, but secondly, to remind you that God really does want to speak to you in a real way. And so I pray today that you're encouraged, but also that it is a great reminder for you to take time, open up the Bible, and let God speak to you through through spending time with Him today. That being said, today is September the 20th, and our New Testament reading. Taking a portion out of the New Testament reading of the life journal reading plan every day. Our New Testament reading is Luke chapter 3. And I want to read to you. let's go verse, let's go verse 2 and 3. Let's go verse 2 and 3. I kind of didn't know where I wanted to start. it says this: that while Ananias and Kaphias were high priests, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias. In the wilderness. Let's just let's just hone in on that for a second. The word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness. Where was John? He was in the wilderness. Wilderness can be symbolic for us of seasons of isolation, separation, and consecration. That that that that that that that that's a that's a picture for us. When you see wilderness, it can be a season or a place of isolation. Separation and consecration. That's important because where was John the Baptist? John, he was in the wilderness. And it says this, and he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remissions of sin, as it is written in the book of the word of Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord, make his path straight. That was actually verses two through four. So my apologies for not being accurate. But here's the observation that I made. John the Baptist, as we see quoted in the book of Isaiah, he had a purpose and a plan that was upon his life before he was even in his mother's womb. Before his mom and dad thought about him, according to Jeremiah chapter 1, verse 4 through 5, we know that God knew him. God knew him, God set him apart, and God placed upon him, ordained upon him a purpose and a plan. John was born, one who was purposed by God. This purpose and this plan, I believe, would have been revealed to John at somewhat of an early age. He he knew to some degree, I'm I'm I'm the voice of one crying in the wilderness, repent. Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. There's a purpose on him. And yet where do we find him? We find him in the wilderness. This is not too dissimilar to Jesus. If you go one chapter over, and I'm not trying to steal the thunder for whoever is sharing tomorrow, but if you go one chapter over, Luke chapter four, verse one, then Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the you got it, wilderness. So Jesus was in the wilderness. Here's John in the wilderness. Again, wilderness, season, place, isolation, consecration, separation. And it says that he was in the wilderness. When when the word of the Lord came to him, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness, and then I don't have these hearing snap my finger, that was for emphasis for my sake only. But and then there it is again the snap, and then he went into all the region around the Jordan preaching a baptism of repentance. Here's the observation. There was a purpose and plan on John's life, but there was timing to it. And so even though he was purposed and planned, he was in a place of isolation, separation, and consecration, the wilderness, until God said, now it's time. Until God said, go, until he got a word from God. Until He got that word of release, he was hidden, he was covered. My my application and why I think this is important is because so many people They just have the sense of God's call on their life, but they're impatient. And be because we live in a world more than ever before, where we can make for ourselves platforms. We can give to ourselves microphones. We can give to ourselves and manufacture microphones and platforms and places of influence. We feel the pressure, like, man, God's called me. God, I gotta do something. I know so many people that have gotten out of the will of God for their life, left a church, left a relationship, left like the right, just that's just the right, like you're in the right place, bro, but they leave prematurely because they feel like I'm I'm limited. I'm not getting opportunity. And and my application, what I just want you to see today is that there is a timing to the call of God in your life. Happened with Jesus, happened with John. John's in the wilderness. He's Isolated, he's separated, he's consecrated, no one knows his name, no one knows his call, no one can see his gift until God says go. If I were to give a title to this, it would be wait your turn. We tell our kids like yeah, get in line, wait your turn. If I'd give a title to this, it'd be like, hey, wait your turn. Yes, God's called you. Yes, there's a gift and a grace on you. But there is timing to it. And you need to wait until God gives you the release. Maybe God speaks to you personally, but but that's gonna be confirmed through the multitude of those that God's put around your life, the pastors, the leaders, the friends, your spouse. Like like the witness of the Holy Spirit ha has to have agreement for from from from more than just one person. We we need the agreement. The Bible says where two or more agree upon anything, it shall be established. You gotta wait for God's release on your light. And so I don't know who I'm talking to, who I'm I'm preaching to really today, but let me just encourage you from my journal journaling. God's got a call on your life and there's a timing to it. And so you stay content, you stay faithful, hidden where you are, if that's where you are right now. God knows, God knows who you are. God's the one who who created you, formed you in your mother's womb. God knows the call in your life. He's the one who put it there. God knows the gift and grace you have. He's the one who gave it to you. So trust him enough to stay hidden in the wilderness until he gives you the opportunity, the open door, and you get a word from him that says, now's the time, go. Wait your turn. There is a timing to the call of God in your life. So wait your turn. Our response, our prayer is God. Keep me hidden, keep working in me and on me until the time is right. And when the time is right, make it clear to me that it's time to go. Lord Jesus, for everyone listening who's got a call on their life, who's got gifting and grace, and they feel hidden right now, make it clear to them. They're hidden on purpose because of your purposes that work on the earth. There's timing to it. So Lord Jesus, keep them confident, content. Where they are. Make it clear to them the season they're in. And in the name of Jesus, when the timing is right, make it clear to them like you did to John. It's go time. It's your turn. Help them to wait their turn, but when it's their turn, give them the confidence to go. I pray that in the name of Jesus. Amen and amen. Hope that was a blessing to you today. And I can't wait to talk to you again on another episode of the Daily Word podcast. We love you. God bless you. We'll see you. Tomorrow.
