- 0:00Speaker 1: Bail is here four finger discount. Ede it is the
- 0:23Speaker 1: May mail bag here at four figure discount. Hi, I
- 0:25Speaker 1: am Brendan Dando and I'm Guy Davis.
- 0:28Speaker 2: I thought you had a little bit of a STANMDA going,
- 0:30Speaker 2: but it is May and it is the mail bag,
- 0:32Speaker 2: so yeah, you were. You were right on the money.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I shouldn't have doubted your Dando, but I very really do.
- 0:37Speaker 1: You do doubt me quite often. Not upsets me, not
- 0:40Speaker 1: to your face. That's my face. Note that's any other
- 0:42Speaker 1: people do as well. I'll be giving Nicholas.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I was like, no, I'm not sure about this dandough guy.
- 0:48Speaker 2: She's like, She's like, oh man, I feel the same way.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I know.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Not true, not true, But I need to talk about
- 0:53Speaker 1: some Simpsons news, answer some of your questions, and have
- 0:55Speaker 1: a good old time. Well hopefully. Yes. Yes, we've already
- 0:58Speaker 1: done our wrap up, our end of the month and
- 1:00Speaker 1: wrap up for south Park. We even checked out our
- 1:02Speaker 1: south Park podcast. I highly advise you do so, because
- 1:04Speaker 1: going down to south Park is a hell of a
- 1:05Speaker 1: good time. We've had a lot of fun. We've just
- 1:07Speaker 1: finished season seven at the show, and the show's just
- 1:09Speaker 1: getting better and better, both podcast wise and Southwark.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I was about to say, do you mean our show
- 1:13Speaker 2: all their show?
- 1:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a great time to check it. Even if
- 1:15Speaker 1: you don't like south Park, just give it a try
- 1:16Speaker 1: south Park. I'm going down to south Park and you
- 1:18Speaker 1: find a link for that in the description of this show.
- 1:20Speaker 1: But how have you been? How's your may been? How's
- 1:22Speaker 1: my may been? Look, it's been good. There's been a lot.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Going on podcasting wise, work wise, personally and professionally. Yeah,
- 1:32Speaker 2: I mean, it seems like it's just zipped by, as
- 1:35Speaker 2: time seems to be doing in the U twenty twenty
- 1:38Speaker 2: five for all of us. But no, I can't say
- 1:40Speaker 2: I've got that many complaints, you know, a little bit
- 1:42Speaker 2: of a existential dread about the state of things and
- 1:44Speaker 2: the potential path of the future.
- 1:46Speaker 1: But otherwise I'm feeling pretty good. I did tell you
- 1:49Speaker 1: today to get off Twitter. I feel like Twitter is
- 1:51Speaker 1: like your home. Twitter's like your go to place. You know,
- 1:54Speaker 1: you're on Facebook, but I feel like you live on
- 1:55Speaker 1: Twitter a lot more than Facebook. And I was saying
- 1:57Speaker 1: to you how Twitter is just the epitome of just negativity. Now,
- 2:02Speaker 1: It's where people go to just vent their frustrations. It's
- 2:05Speaker 1: good for keeping up to date with what's going on,
- 2:06Speaker 1: what people are talking about. But if you live on
- 2:08Speaker 1: it for too long, mate, I've found my mental health
- 2:10Speaker 1: went down the toilet when I stayed on Twitter for
- 2:12Speaker 1: too long.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I find if you curate your feed with the sort
- 2:15Speaker 2: of like minded people and kindred spirits, you're probably doing
- 2:17Speaker 2: it right. I mean you've got to stay in the
- 2:20Speaker 2: following section as opposed to.
- 2:21Speaker 1: The four years that's true.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Actually, yeah, for you section, it's like, no, this is
- 2:25Speaker 2: not for me, daddy, elon, what are you thinking?
- 2:27Speaker 1: What do you think of me? Man?
- 2:29Speaker 2: But if you know you're in the following section, it's like, Hey,
- 2:31Speaker 2: I'm hanging out with a couple of my cool buds here.
- 2:34Speaker 1: We'll just talk sit about various.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Things and usually that's all right. The problem I'm finding,
- 2:38Speaker 2: and I don't want to sort of get myself in
- 2:39Speaker 2: trouble with any algorithms or anything like that. The problem
- 2:43Speaker 2: is mainly YouTube in a lot of ways. Because I
- 2:45Speaker 2: like YouTube very much, I'm probably using it more than
- 2:47Speaker 2: I'm using regular TV these days when it comes to
- 2:49Speaker 2: my really visual wants and need.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I do we watch Judge Duty and Border Security. I'm
- 2:56Speaker 1: still on that gravy train.
- 2:57Speaker 2: But this is the problem with YouTube and maybe a
- 3:01Speaker 2: lot of things. But it's not so much if you
- 3:03Speaker 2: like this, we'll give you the algorithm is not in
- 3:06Speaker 2: childre enough to go, oh, I you like this, maybe
- 3:09Speaker 2: like this. Like if you like this, you're gonna like this, this,
- 3:10Speaker 2: and this, And they're all the same thing. They're different
- 3:12Speaker 2: people talking about the same topic. So if, for instance,
- 3:16Speaker 2: you tune into one video about so let's say AI
- 3:20Speaker 2: is coming for your job, it's like.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Oh, it's already came, it's gone, and it's gone. God
- 3:27Speaker 1: is your job.
- 3:29Speaker 2: But well, this person seems either informed or they seem like, oh,
- 3:35Speaker 2: this will be an interesting and fun rant, and you
- 3:38Speaker 2: tune into that, you give it maybe five minutes ago,
- 3:40Speaker 2: and this person sucks all.
- 3:41Speaker 1: About the thumbnail. Yeah that's the hook, Oh it is.
- 3:44Speaker 1: That's the other thing. We'll talk about that in just
- 3:45Speaker 1: a second.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Because we got the video and I'll be able to
- 3:49Speaker 2: sort of replicate it. But yeah, then that's all you get.
- 3:53Speaker 2: It's like you got twelve months to prepare for an employment,
- 3:56Speaker 2: but he's going for your job, so what and that's
- 3:59Speaker 2: all you get.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's like I watched one video had a
- 4:03Speaker 1: bath of cat because a kitten had shipp through its firm.
- 4:05Speaker 1: How to a bath of kitten? Right now? Everything is
- 4:07Speaker 1: just like his videos a kitten's being bathed, and I
- 4:09Speaker 1: was like, I just cleaned it. I don't need this anymore.
- 4:13Speaker 2: But the other thing is, and ye know, you've got
- 4:15Speaker 2: a wealth of YouTube creators who either doing reaction videos.
- 4:19Speaker 2: This is something I found this coming up, the reaction
- 4:21Speaker 2: to shows like like we do except we do it
- 4:24Speaker 2: much better and differently, or commenting on current events, and
- 4:27Speaker 2: they all tend to be the same event. But there
- 4:29Speaker 2: are so many YouTube thumbnails that are basically this. You know,
- 4:33Speaker 2: they'll have been created by AI or photoshop yeah yeah,
- 4:38Speaker 2: or someone on fire but that's exactly right. But they'll
- 4:40Speaker 2: be a little bit going on behind them, but the
- 4:42Speaker 2: creator will be in the center.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Going yeah, looking at all confused or shopped yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 2: And I find it incredibly off putting.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Well it's me when I'm you know, when I see
- 4:53Speaker 1: the reaction videos to South Like episodes and I'm going this, guys,
- 4:56Speaker 1: these guys are adding nothing. They're contributed that is laughing
- 4:58Speaker 1: at the screen, and they're doing there much more successful
- 5:01Speaker 1: than me. That breaks my heart. So I'll try to
- 5:02Speaker 1: avoid those. Well, yeah, understandable. I mean we did we
- 5:06Speaker 1: ever try to do one of those, well these fun mails,
- 5:09Speaker 1: one of those reaction videos. Reaction whenever did reaction video
- 5:12Speaker 1: now because we do reviews anyway, commentaries and stuff commentary.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Speaking of YouTube, though, I am now uploading reels every
- 5:20Speaker 1: single day from the shows that we do. Here FFing
- 5:22Speaker 1: a discount gone to the South Park, so check it out.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Make sure you subscribe to us on on the YouTube.
- 5:27Speaker 1: So I've gone through they wouldn't let us monetize the channel.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I've gone through and I have removed things that might
- 5:32Speaker 1: have copyrighted stuff, and I've applied again and they've said
- 5:36Speaker 1: you can monetize it at the end of next month.
- 5:38Speaker 1: So if you watch your stuff on YouTube, you're helping
- 5:41Speaker 1: the show, so you're getting free content and you're helping
- 5:43Speaker 1: us make money. So you can't sport us on Patreon.
- 5:46Speaker 1: That's another way you can now help us at forming
- 5:47Speaker 1: a discounts watching our videos on YouTube. Check out dander
- 5:50Speaker 1: gaming the system just to gain that system. What a
- 5:52Speaker 1: lord plus you get to look at us. Let's let's
- 5:55Speaker 1: let's get into the mailback with one question. Good got
- 5:57Speaker 1: lot of Simpsons News. As you hanging you ask me
- 5:59Speaker 1: about my mail my mate, So we had Star Wars Elliott,
- 6:04Speaker 1: we have not. We didn't watch Empire Strikes Back yet.
- 6:06Speaker 1: It's just been been a big week with kids, just
- 6:08Speaker 1: ups and downs and just kitting shit. Yeah, kitting shit,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and yeah, it's just been a bit chaotic here. But
- 6:13Speaker 1: I'm it's just sitting there ready to go. I really
- 6:15Speaker 1: want to film Elliott when he sees that revealed at
- 6:18Speaker 1: the end of Empire Strikes Back. So I know the
- 6:19Speaker 1: Star Wars month, I promise it hasn't quite happened yet,
- 6:22Speaker 1: but it is coming, I do promise. But yeah, so
- 6:24Speaker 1: we've had a lot of questions come through this month.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I don't forget. You can get in touch with us.
- 6:27Speaker 1: It's mail bag at four finger discount dot com dot au.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Or we do post in the Patreon group unfortunates. Probably
- 6:33Speaker 1: give an update there, so I'll let everyone know that
- 6:35Speaker 1: the page has returned. I was able to get the
- 6:37Speaker 1: page back and post on there and whatnot, and then
- 6:39Speaker 1: the next day I was a I was informed that
- 6:43Speaker 1: I couldn't post via the page anymore. I couldn't post
- 6:45Speaker 1: in groups anymore for a month because I was an
- 6:48Speaker 1: admin of an old page at least to help out
- 6:49Speaker 1: with Simpsons quotes, and nobody gets anymore. Their page are
- 6:52Speaker 1: suspended for a reason. Apparently they were suspended for impersonating
- 6:57Speaker 1: a celebrity, even though they're just a Simpsons page that
- 6:59Speaker 1: just does nothing really that and hadn't really posted in years.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It was just like randomly just suspended. But because I
- 7:04Speaker 1: was an admin of that page, I now can't post
- 7:06Speaker 1: on my other pages. So luckily I'm able to log
- 7:09Speaker 1: in as Nickoler and post on the main page, but
- 7:11Speaker 1: I can't post in the page young group this month.
- 7:13Speaker 1: So if you're wondering why I haven't been communicating much
- 7:15Speaker 1: at all, that's the reason. But normally I would be
- 7:17Speaker 1: posting in the Pagreon group asking for mailbag questions. That's
- 7:19Speaker 1: another way you can get in touch with us. But
- 7:21Speaker 1: if you're not a supporter of ours on pageon, you
- 7:23Speaker 1: can contact us mailbag at four figure discount dot com
- 7:26Speaker 1: dot au. Now, when I read out these names going forward,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I'm just gonna read it the first name of the person.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'ven't read it the last name is because some.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Of these surnames are very difficult to pronounce.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Yes, and two privacy for some people, and if it's
- 7:36Speaker 1: their question, I don't know who it is. I mean
- 7:38Speaker 1: old point. So the first one he's from Justin. Justin says,
- 7:41Speaker 1: which Simpson's character did you crush on as a kid,
- 7:44Speaker 1: if any, and which one do you crush on now
- 7:46Speaker 1: as an adult? Well, I think I.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Think listeners to the show will we'll have noted Dando's
- 7:53Speaker 2: rampant horniness when it comes to Marge. Sometimes I agree, I'm.
- 7:58Speaker 1: He's not my crush though, Oh no, I do like March.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I think she's great, she's a great No, she's you
- 8:03Speaker 1: take her home to mum. But I think is there
- 8:06Speaker 1: anyone more of a catch, in my opinion now as
- 8:11Speaker 1: an adult watching The Simpsons than missus k ednar Kabobble.
- 8:15Speaker 1: She is incredibly smart, she's incredibly kind, and she's DTF.
- 8:21Speaker 1: What more could you want in a woman?
- 8:27Speaker 2: I'm working really hard to come up with an alternative
- 8:31Speaker 2: meaning of the acronym DTF something involving teacher which has
- 8:34Speaker 2: the tea in it, but dirty teacher, Think dirty teaching female?
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yes, there you go. The thing is, there's a reason,
- 8:42Speaker 1: there's a reason you only get one chance with Ednarker bubble.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Oh yes, I would say if I have a crush
- 8:48Speaker 2: as a grown up. I don't think I had any
- 8:50Speaker 2: crushes as a chart.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Well, you were twenty one when the show.
- 8:53Speaker 2: As a young adult, shall we say, I'm finding myself
- 8:56Speaker 2: leaning towards Lindsay Nagel. Okay, yeah, get the feeling she
- 9:00Speaker 2: you like.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You, boss you around? Well, yeah, know what to do.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I would hit my KPIs if you know what I mean.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And she seems know what I mean. She seems like
- 9:08Speaker 1: she'd be a man eater as well. Oh absolutely yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 2: And this would not be a long lasting relationship, certainly,
- 9:14Speaker 2: not my bad, but I get the feeling. Would be
- 9:15Speaker 2: one of those things that you there's a great life.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Have you seen the movie Hella high Water. You know
- 9:20Speaker 2: there's a great line in it where one of the
- 9:22Speaker 2: characters is sweet talking like a hotel clerk and wanted
- 9:25Speaker 2: me the Dylan in your last days at the retirement home.
- 9:28Speaker 2: You're gonna you're gonna remember me in giggle. So that's
- 9:31Speaker 2: that's what you think about Lindsay Nagel. You'd be sort
- 9:33Speaker 2: of like here I am ninety two, gumming myferred and
- 9:37Speaker 2: you know, I remember that time Nagel.
- 9:40Speaker 1: She was not that would be me and Lindsay. She
- 9:44Speaker 1: strikes me as that kind of gal. Yeah, yeah, I'll
- 9:47Speaker 1: completely buy into that as well. I think as a kid,
- 9:49Speaker 1: because I wasn't kid watching The Simptoms growing up. I
- 9:52Speaker 1: also I always had a mad crush on Laura Powers,
- 9:56Speaker 1: the next door neighbor who moved in. She was a
- 9:59Speaker 1: bit older.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Voice by Sarah Gilbert from Roseanne.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Correct. Yeah, So as I was growing up, I always
- 10:04Speaker 1: I had this neighbor who was a bit older than me,
- 10:06Speaker 1: who was I sort of like looked up to, and
- 10:07Speaker 1: she would know keeping company and blah blah blah. And
- 10:09Speaker 1: she eventually she sort of got too old. She was like,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I'm not looking after these little kidney more. But she
- 10:13Speaker 1: was like my babysitter. She I was at a crush
- 10:15Speaker 1: on her, right, Yeah, And I saw Laura Powers and
- 10:17Speaker 1: I was like, that is pretty much that's what I had.
- 10:20Speaker 1: You know, it was never gonna work, but I always
- 10:22Speaker 1: had this. It was almost like she she gave me
- 10:24Speaker 1: my first CD. She showed me, you know, PATV for
- 10:28Speaker 1: the first time. She so many of my first except
- 10:30Speaker 1: for the main one with this next door neighbor. I
- 10:33Speaker 1: was like, can weep. Can we took off all the
- 10:35Speaker 1: first because Laura powers, She's no, she's a tom boy,
- 10:40Speaker 1: she can hold her own, she's tough, she's smart, she's funny,
- 10:43Speaker 1: she's just she's awesome.
- 10:44Speaker 2: She's the package. Yeah, she is the boy page. Yeah,
- 10:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna be a to be very careful. How about
- 10:49Speaker 2: her phrase this next thing. I am not viewing this
- 10:53Speaker 2: from the perspective of what a guy I know. I'm
- 10:57Speaker 2: viewing this perspective of eight year old, eight year old guy.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Or that's what that's okay, young guy who was discovering
- 11:03Speaker 2: girls for the first time, someone like Jessica Lovejoy.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Who appears to be you know, you go love Joy,
- 11:08Speaker 1: but I wouldn't melt in her mouth. And then oh
- 11:10Speaker 1: she's evil. Oh bad news, she's bad news. It's star
- 11:15Speaker 1: wars Man.
- 11:15Speaker 2: You're taking your first step into a larger world, and
- 11:17Speaker 2: you realize, oh, wait a minute, how can suddenly hacken someon.
- 11:20Speaker 1: That feels so good? Feels so bad?
- 11:24Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean, I remember, you know, being a
- 11:27Speaker 2: child and sort of you know, you'd have a crush
- 11:29Speaker 2: on a girl who'd be a little bit only as
- 11:30Speaker 2: you were saying, like someone like the real life Laura
- 11:32Speaker 2: powers and they realized the power they have and it's like,
- 11:36Speaker 2: might just rip your heart your chest and like, yeah,
- 11:38Speaker 2: I hold them a half for a second.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Oh look at a beating squish.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Oh no, I need that. I needed to live and
- 11:46Speaker 3: to feel. So did this ever happen to me? Who
- 11:52Speaker 3: can say? But yeah, that's that's another one. So yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 3: I'm covering both ends of the spectrum here. That would
- 11:57Speaker 3: be my childhood crush and for my adel relationship. Yes,
- 12:00Speaker 3: Lindsay Nagel, she sort of floats from company to the company,
- 12:04Speaker 3: doesn't she.
- 12:05Speaker 1: She's the modern day I want to say, absolute girl boss. Yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 1: she's like a successful Linel Huts. Oh yeah, I suppose
- 12:13Speaker 1: Lone Huts. No, but he did various things as well,
- 12:14Speaker 1: didn't he. He was a lawyer, but he was also here,
- 12:16Speaker 1: there and everywhere. Yeah. Yeah, maybe Gill. She's a successful Gill. Yeah,
- 12:21Speaker 1: because you see Gill doing a lot of different things
- 12:23Speaker 1: and he's never any good at it.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but no, Lindsay has one job in terms of like, no,
- 12:27Speaker 2: she's your marketing person, but you'll do it for various companies.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, so she's a consultant, let's say, free agent.
- 12:34Speaker 1: She gets it done. Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah, like the man you were talking about before we
- 12:38Speaker 2: started recording day, the wrestler who just you know, became
- 12:40Speaker 2: a free agent is like mom bus good.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Happy, and I'm making more money. Indeed, it's much like
- 12:46Speaker 1: Dan respect the hustle. Now, if you want to hear
- 12:49Speaker 1: us talk more about childhood heartbreak, you can check out
- 12:52Speaker 1: our review of raisins from Going Down to South Pike
- 12:54Speaker 1: where standards fire and fight, What's what's the turn? But
- 12:58Speaker 1: generally said dumped where I'm breaks she breaks up, break
- 13:01Speaker 1: breaks up, breaks up. Yeah, with the stand and it's
- 13:04Speaker 1: hilarious reason and the goth kids are in it. Which
- 13:08Speaker 1: the goth kids are in it. It's got raised and
- 13:10Speaker 1: it's got everything you need in South Pike episodes. So
- 13:12Speaker 1: check out Going Down to South Park. Will do one
- 13:13Speaker 1: more question and we'll get into some Simpsons news. This
- 13:16Speaker 1: one's from Rachel. There's a lot of episodes that are
- 13:18Speaker 1: rehashes of classic era episodes. But what episodes would you
- 13:21Speaker 1: like to see have a second part where the story
- 13:24Speaker 1: from the first episode continues on will you got first? Okay,
- 13:29Speaker 1: so a classic episode I think probably could have kept going.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I wouldn't have minded, maybe not so now I can
- 13:34Speaker 1: try it now. But just a continuation of tweeny two
- 13:37Speaker 1: short films about Springfield that format, because they've never really
- 13:40Speaker 1: done it since they've done format bending episodes. But just
- 13:43Speaker 1: a day in the Life of Springfield. I'm glad we
- 13:45Speaker 1: got an episode like that in the Golden era, but
- 13:48Speaker 1: I think it would be nice to sort of have
- 13:49Speaker 1: another one of those where it's just spending a day.
- 13:51Speaker 1: It's like being a fly on the wall and just
- 13:52Speaker 1: buzzing around Springfield and seeing what's going on.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Forgive me, I'm terrible, terrible is but the episode? Is
- 13:59Speaker 2: it least a substitute?
- 14:00Speaker 1: Mister Berstram, Yeah, what is the what's the episode? Told him?
- 14:03Speaker 1: Is at least it's a substitute. Yeah, yeah, I got
- 14:05Speaker 1: it right. Yeah, good for me.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I think it would be interesting. And this is sort
- 14:10Speaker 2: of related to something that happened to me just recently.
- 14:13Speaker 2: On Monday, we're recording this. On Wednesday, I was up
- 14:18Speaker 2: in Melbourne for the memorial service for the late author
- 14:23Speaker 2: of young adult fiction, John Marsden. John Marsden was one
- 14:26Speaker 2: of my teachers when I was when I was a
- 14:28Speaker 2: young man about thirteen to fifteen to sorrow, when the
- 14:30Speaker 2: war Begame Tomorrow when the War Begang series. Yeah, very
- 14:32Speaker 2: very popular, very acclaimed. Yeah, a lot of the things
- 14:35Speaker 2: that the people were talking about there, that the speakers
- 14:37Speaker 2: of the service were talking about, were he was a
- 14:40Speaker 2: very good listener to when he was working with kids,
- 14:42Speaker 2: and he would sort of cherry pick bits of conversation
- 14:45Speaker 2: or little bits of character trait from the kids that
- 14:48Speaker 2: he worked with and taught and turned them into these
- 14:51Speaker 2: great books. And I think it'd be interesting if like
- 14:53Speaker 2: mister Berstram became like a mister Marsden kind of guy,
- 14:55Speaker 2: and I wrote a series of young adult novels like
- 14:58Speaker 2: say Twilight or Hunger Game or whatever. And Lisa recognized, like, hey,
- 15:02Speaker 2: Katon has Abad, Wait a minute, that's me, Lena Sampson,
- 15:08Speaker 2: wait a minute. And you know who's a bit of
- 15:10Speaker 2: a smart Alegon knows everything and all this kind of stuff.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I'm the central character in this, And I don't know,
- 15:15Speaker 2: maybe there's she feels aggrieved that like, hey, he ripped
- 15:20Speaker 2: off my life to you know, create this series of books.
- 15:23Speaker 1: They're all doing a long.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I'm not making any money out of it, or that
- 15:26Speaker 2: he writes a book and kind of like it revealed
- 15:28Speaker 2: too much about me and everyone knows this as me
- 15:30Speaker 2: or something like that.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I think that could be kind of interesting. It could
- 15:32Speaker 1: be that she comes across she finds out another school
- 15:35Speaker 1: that she finds out where he is right and she
- 15:37Speaker 1: goes to visit him, and she finds out that he
- 15:39Speaker 1: gave another student a piece of paper that says that
- 15:41Speaker 1: you are so and she's heartbroken because that was so
- 15:44Speaker 1: personal to her. I do think that would take away
- 15:46Speaker 1: from the first episode, though, because it feels so personal,
- 15:48Speaker 1: and that's true, that moment means so Mister Berkshire was
- 15:51Speaker 1: a character who has only really appeared once properly in
- 15:53Speaker 1: the show. He has appeared in a more recent episode,
- 15:55Speaker 1: but the main one is less Substitute season two. That
- 15:58Speaker 1: moment you are Lisa to him means so much to
- 16:01Speaker 1: so many Simpsons fans. It's a good point.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe you don't want to sort of mess with
- 16:04Speaker 2: that too much if it does have that much meaning.
- 16:07Speaker 1: I like to think that.
- 16:08Speaker 2: It does that that foundation you could build something interesting
- 16:12Speaker 2: off that. But at the same time, do you want
- 16:13Speaker 2: to mess with the hopes and dreams of people who
- 16:16Speaker 2: saw this in their formative views. Who knows, there's a
- 16:18Speaker 2: lot of artistic responsibility that comes with telling stories.
- 16:20Speaker 1: It's one of those moments that makes you tear up,
- 16:22Speaker 1: even if you send it a million times.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, beautiful episode. Yeah, and it's one that sticks
- 16:26Speaker 2: with you.
- 16:27Speaker 1: There's a handful of Simpsons episodes that just genuinely stick
- 16:30Speaker 1: with your Simpsons moments. That's one of them. I think
- 16:31Speaker 1: Homer looking at the Stars is another one where you
- 16:33Speaker 1: just watch it and to go. It's almost like you
- 16:35Speaker 1: sit back and reflect on people you've lost as well. Sure,
- 16:38Speaker 1: when that's happening, and I know that's been used for
- 16:40Speaker 1: the when some and so dies, it's always become memiphied
- 16:42Speaker 1: now that moment, but go back to that and it's
- 16:44Speaker 1: just like, wow.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Oh it's lovely, it's very well, Yeah, they're very confident
- 16:49Speaker 2: about it's just sitting in the silence at the end
- 16:50Speaker 2: of that and letting you feel what home is feeling.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Yeah, just the score in the background is beautiful. And
- 16:55Speaker 1: for me, though, the moment that makes me that hits
- 16:58Speaker 1: me the hardest now as a father, married, father of
- 17:01Speaker 1: two kids, is the do it for her moment. Of course,
- 17:04Speaker 1: it is impossible to watch that now and not cry
- 17:07Speaker 1: literally can't hold That is just I think that is
- 17:09Speaker 1: the most sweetest moment in the history of the show,
- 17:12Speaker 1: because you were just you weren't expecting it at the time. No, absolutely,
- 17:15Speaker 1: not no. You almost the whole episode is built up
- 17:17Speaker 1: of Maggie's the forgotten one. It's all about button Lesa.
- 17:19Speaker 1: At the end, you go, oh, no, no, Maggie means
- 17:21Speaker 1: so much to Homewer. Even Maggie the character, she doesn't
- 17:24Speaker 1: get she's she's a major character in the show, but
- 17:26Speaker 1: you don't really see the relationship all that Often it's
- 17:28Speaker 1: always like a punching a She's more a prop. She's
- 17:32Speaker 1: a punchline more than anything when it comes to relationship
- 17:34Speaker 1: she has with other people. But seeing that O, no know,
- 17:36Speaker 1: Homer's a father who just absolutely adores this little girl.
- 17:41Speaker 1: It's just it's incredible.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Maggie often feels like a bit of a cutaway to
- 17:45Speaker 2: a gag.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:46Speaker 2: It's like it's like, say, oh, you're making a movie
- 17:49Speaker 2: and occasionally you know Robert Rodriguez, the maker from Dusty
- 17:53Speaker 2: Dawn and all that stuff in Desperado and all that.
- 17:55Speaker 2: When he was making his first movie on Mariachi, he
- 17:58Speaker 2: took a lot of footage of his dog and he
- 18:01Speaker 2: knew that because when the action was like, oh, I
- 18:04Speaker 2: needed to cut away. I'm gonna cut to the dog,
- 18:05Speaker 2: and everyone's gonna go, oh, that's nice. So I'm not
- 18:08Speaker 2: saying that Maggie's exactly like that, but I mean often
- 18:10Speaker 2: they'll cut away to Maggie doing a little bit of
- 18:12Speaker 2: a reaction shot or like, eh, so, yeah, you're not
- 18:16Speaker 2: really a fully drawn, fully fleshed out character, she's a baby,
- 18:19Speaker 2: but yeah, used in situations like that or used in
- 18:22Speaker 2: that way that you're talking.
- 18:23Speaker 1: About, Oh yeah, incredibly effective.
- 18:25Speaker 2: And yeah, you're right, that moment is even for someone
- 18:28Speaker 2: who has no kids on their own, it's like, yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 2: you've got to have a meaning, you've got to have
- 18:32Speaker 2: a purpose, you've got to have a reason for doing something. Yeah,
- 18:34Speaker 2: and well, kid's as good a reason as anyway.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Yes, Now, some Simpsons news hit me. This one probably
- 18:42Speaker 1: doesn't mean that much to you because you're a Lego fan,
- 18:45Speaker 1: but they've just announced, finally, for the first time in
- 18:47Speaker 1: what feels like a decade, if not more, new Simpsons. Lego.
- 18:51Speaker 1: All right, they've got the Quickie Mart, they've got the
- 18:53Speaker 1: Simpsons House. I haven't told you about this. What do
- 18:56Speaker 1: you think the new Simpsons lego. Is it is a
- 18:58Speaker 1: building of sorts? Is a place you go eat? Oh?
- 19:01Speaker 1: Is it Krusty Burger? It is Crusty Berger? Indeed?
- 19:03Speaker 2: Okay, then I was almost going to say Gilder Traffle.
- 19:06Speaker 2: But I must admit my first my initial thought.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Was a nuclear plant. But I thought either the school
- 19:12Speaker 1: or the nuclear power plant would be the way to go.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Power plant probably more so. I think it'd be a
- 19:15Speaker 1: fun set to build. Yeah, but Krusty Berger does sound
- 19:18Speaker 1: like a good choice to make. Look at a lie,
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm kind of disappointed in you in it. I just
- 19:24Speaker 1: don't think there's well what constitutes good lego to you? Well,
- 19:29Speaker 1: I just do something? Is it? Really? It just seems
- 19:31Speaker 1: kind of bland, Like you look aside and it's just
- 19:33Speaker 1: it's just a fast food restaurant. You know, there's no
- 19:35Speaker 1: you get the City's house to get Bart's room, you
- 19:37Speaker 1: got Lisa's room, you got the living room. There's all
- 19:39Speaker 1: these major sort of key sort of locations within the
- 19:42Speaker 1: Simpson's house. This one is just just booths and it's
- 19:45Speaker 1: just a counter, you know, is it?
- 19:49Speaker 2: Is it a new school fast food eatree like the
- 19:51Speaker 2: ones we tend to be very upset about they look
- 19:54Speaker 2: like flat back okeya buildings.
- 19:55Speaker 1: No, no, no, all no. But it does have the
- 19:58Speaker 1: squeaky voice team hope. So yes, And you do get
- 20:02Speaker 1: a new Homer and you have him shoveling. He's gruel,
- 20:04Speaker 1: I know's he's grease in the back, things like that,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and you get the crusty car. I know. Just compared
- 20:09Speaker 1: to the Quickie Mart and compared to and the Quie
- 20:12Speaker 1: Mart is the same. It sort of just felt like
- 20:13Speaker 1: a store. But I think the quick as a location
- 20:15Speaker 1: was just cool.
- 20:16Speaker 2: It's not a little more personality. Yeah, the Krusty bigger way,
- 20:19Speaker 2: because we're more used to it. I think we spend
- 20:21Speaker 2: more time at the quick Amount that we haven't, say
- 20:22Speaker 2: Krusty Berger.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Yeah, so the Quickie crust the burger one. I'm not
- 20:25Speaker 1: blown away by it. It's fine. I think more. I
- 20:28Speaker 1: think it's my own fox. I think I was just
- 20:30Speaker 1: disappointed that it wasn't the power plant. Okay, ye where
- 20:33Speaker 1: you're coming from. But a lot of the people, a
- 20:35Speaker 1: lot of sentiment seems to be that why wasn't this
- 20:37Speaker 1: the power planned? So I think the next one might
- 20:40Speaker 1: be the power See, I was in sync. It was
- 20:42Speaker 1: my first thought. Yes, I think it just seems like
- 20:44Speaker 1: the obvious one or MOS.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Actually Most seems like the more obvious now that you
- 20:49Speaker 2: bring it up, now that you say that word, yeah,
- 20:51Speaker 2: you can buy.
- 20:52Speaker 1: You can buy almost like fake fake version of Moe's
- 20:55Speaker 1: lego on like Ali Express or wherever you want to
- 20:58Speaker 1: buy those fake legos from names. You can get a
- 21:00Speaker 1: school on there as well, and they look pretty good,
- 21:02Speaker 1: you know. So I think a genuine Mo's one, or
- 21:06Speaker 1: a school one or a power plant would be the
- 21:08Speaker 1: way to go in my opinion, I like the idea
- 21:10Speaker 1: of MOS. Yeah, Most just seems like the place you'd
- 21:13Speaker 1: want to build a lego for right, sure had the
- 21:15Speaker 1: panda in the back. And what would you have in
- 21:17Speaker 1: a Mo's lego though? It's gonna have a couple of
- 21:18Speaker 1: the Booze, the love medic Grandpa.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Yeah, talk to Anthony Ketis and Flee about getting you know,
- 21:27Speaker 2: red not Chili Pepper figures in there.
- 21:29Speaker 1: That'd be cool, wuldn't it. You're obviously gonna have flaming
- 21:32Speaker 1: Mos or will have a flaming Moment accessory. I'd be
- 21:35Speaker 1: cool if you could have alternating science. So one says MOS,
- 21:37Speaker 1: one says flaming Mos. You can make it flaming. We
- 21:40Speaker 1: can make it mos. You'd have to have the fit.
- 21:43Speaker 1: The women's toilet would have to have be Moo's office.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Yes, jarrapickle onions. Yeah, yeah, that's it.
- 21:48Speaker 1: Yeah. A lot of stuff, a lot of stuff you
- 21:49Speaker 1: can do. Oh yeah yeah. Duft Man would have to
- 21:51Speaker 1: be part of it. Oh, yes, so that would be
- 21:53Speaker 1: my idea. It's funny. I clicked on Krusty Berger Lego
- 21:57Speaker 1: and then the first one I clicked on just to
- 21:58Speaker 1: look at it turn out to be ol Express. I
- 22:00Speaker 1: didn't even realize it. It looks exactly the same. But
- 22:05Speaker 1: that's available. Yes, that's available on Lego dot com. Dot
- 22:09Speaker 1: are you? I think just dot Lego dot com. You
- 22:11Speaker 1: can just you can pre order it now. I haven't
- 22:13Speaker 1: pre ordered it yet, a lot of money. I think
- 22:17Speaker 1: it's run that pass Nickela, let's go past. Let's got
- 22:19Speaker 1: Lego dot com and see what it costs for in Australia.
- 22:21Speaker 1: So it's three hundred and thirty dollars. Oh, I can
- 22:23Speaker 1: no longer pre order it. Oh that sold out. Um,
- 22:27Speaker 1: that's a whole lot of Lego. Yeah, I can't order
- 22:30Speaker 1: it now, coming soon forth of June, so it's all
- 22:33Speaker 1: pre sold out. I guess, well, there you go. I
- 22:35Speaker 1: won't be pre ordering it. It's not too bad, really,
- 22:40Speaker 1: I guess it comes to Lego sets. That's true. Yeah,
- 22:45Speaker 1: it is official. We have finally launched Bob's Pods, a
- 22:48Speaker 1: Bob's Burger's podcast, reviewing every episode of the series exclusively
- 22:52Speaker 1: on our Patreon. We dissect the relationships, the themes, the
- 22:56Speaker 1: burger specials, and everything else that goes into making Bob's
- 22:59Speaker 1: Burgers one of the most loved animated series today. So
- 23:02Speaker 1: if you want to sink your teeth into one of
- 23:03Speaker 1: the tastiest podcasts going around, join the four Finger Discam
- 23:06Speaker 1: family today at patreon dot com slash four Finger Discam. Anyway,
- 23:12Speaker 1: all right, let's get into another question and we'll get
- 23:13Speaker 1: to some more news a little bit later. So this
- 23:16Speaker 1: next one here comes from Steve. So, Steve, do you
- 23:19Speaker 1: think it's time? Even though they did it as part
- 23:21Speaker 1: of a recent trios of horror, do you think it's
- 23:23Speaker 1: time that we have a fully fledged Bob's Burgers slash
- 23:26Speaker 1: Simpson's crossover episode. I think both shows could really relate
- 23:29Speaker 1: to each other, having Homer attend Bob's store. I don't know,
- 23:33Speaker 1: very different in comedy they are, but I think they
- 23:36Speaker 1: can make it work. The short bit they did for
- 23:39Speaker 1: the I think Simpsons World was the segment Trios of
- 23:42Speaker 1: Horror maybe two or three years ago. It worked, and
- 23:45Speaker 1: I was surprised by it. I went, I know this,
- 23:47Speaker 1: you could make this happen. Could you draw it out
- 23:49Speaker 1: for twenty two minutes? Of of course you could. Of
- 23:50Speaker 1: course you can make it. We could, I think should.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I think you're more I think it'll be better than
- 23:55Speaker 1: the Family Guy crossover because the Family Guy crossovery when
- 23:58Speaker 1: it happened, I went, these were two different styles, and
- 24:02Speaker 1: seeing the Family Guy characters were in the same scene
- 24:05Speaker 1: with the Simpsons characters, for me was a putoff because
- 24:08Speaker 1: I went the Simpsons for me went was worse. But
- 24:11Speaker 1: it was trying to be this, and you really saw
- 24:13Speaker 1: the comparisons of the style of humor when you had
- 24:16Speaker 1: Stewie they were doing. I know. It was one thing
- 24:17Speaker 1: that always stuck with me. It was them doing a
- 24:20Speaker 1: prank call to Mo's Bart and Stewie right, and Bart
- 24:24Speaker 1: does his usual innocent you know, fate name whatever, and
- 24:27Speaker 1: I think Stewart just calls up and says, hey, Mo,
- 24:29Speaker 1: your sister's dead or someone's dead, and I went, that's
- 24:33Speaker 1: that's family guy. Yeah, and that is why I don't
- 24:35Speaker 1: watch Family Guy.
- 24:36Speaker 2: You'll sometimes hear about, Oh, wouldn't be great if so
- 24:39Speaker 2: and so cross over with so and so, and you think,
- 24:41Speaker 2: oh my god, yes these are Yeah, this is chocolate
- 24:43Speaker 2: and the peanut butter.
- 24:43Speaker 1: This is marvelous.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Yeah, two great taste tastes and great together. I don't
- 24:48Speaker 2: that's very rare for me that that kind of thing works.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I hear about those two like two different elements and go.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Oh, it would be great if they work together.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I mean I hear about, you know, the Simpsons Bob
- 24:59Speaker 2: Burger's shows that I both enjoy and I feel like,
- 25:02Speaker 2: I don't know, I think you could. You would really
- 25:04Speaker 2: see the work that went into trying to make these
- 25:08Speaker 2: two things colne and coexist.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I'm thinking, you know, idea just came to me. Then
- 25:13Speaker 1: it could be that a Krusty Burger is opening up
- 25:16Speaker 1: around the corner or whatever from Bob's Burger's. He's bothered
- 25:20Speaker 1: by this. That's your way of incorporating the Simpsons affect
- 25:22Speaker 1: into it. But this new store cut at the grand
- 25:25Speaker 1: opening is bringing back the witch or something that only
- 25:28Speaker 1: at that store. So Homers, as common kids were going
- 25:30Speaker 1: to this store to get this burger, this new exclusive burger.
- 25:34Speaker 1: He ends up going there, and then he comes across Bob,
- 25:36Speaker 1: who was at the front protesting or something that we
- 25:38Speaker 1: don't want this all. Louise is trying to sabotage it
- 25:40Speaker 1: or something like that, something like that, And then Lisa
- 25:43Speaker 1: and Luise get along in that regard. But Bart and
- 25:46Speaker 1: Jen get along. I don't think they would. No, I
- 25:48Speaker 1: think Bart would find him really annoying. So we'll have
- 25:50Speaker 1: to find a story for Bart Marge again with Linda.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I'm not too sure.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Actually, I think those two would actually get along pretty well.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Bill House and Tina, Oh, would that work? I think
- 26:02Speaker 1: I think it could work. And then you just have
- 26:04Speaker 1: Homer and Bobb just become best buddies, and Homer ends
- 26:06Speaker 1: up trying to take on Trusty Burger with Bob.
- 26:09Speaker 2: There you go, you brought I've come around to your way?
- 26:12Speaker 2: Is that the new Simpsons movie? I've ember seen the
- 26:17Speaker 2: bobis Burger's movie of you, I have not yet.
- 26:20Speaker 1: No, that's gonna be reviewed exclusively on our Patreon, though
- 26:22Speaker 1: you know it's also exclusively on our Patreon. Tell me
- 26:24Speaker 1: Bobb's Pods. That's correct, Bobbisberger's podcast. You check it out,
- 26:29Speaker 1: the Burger of the Day. Yes, Burger of the Day.
- 26:31Speaker 1: We just did Secret Counts the latest episode, so check out.
- 26:34Speaker 1: If you like Bobbis Burgers, you like our Bobbis Burger's
- 26:36Speaker 1: podcast available on our Patreon. All right, another question, this
- 26:39Speaker 1: one comes from Michelle. Winter is fast approaching you Aussies.
- 26:44Speaker 1: It's already here. Yeah, what is your favorite winter pastime? Nicholas,
- 26:48Speaker 1: Hot chocolate with a couple of marshmallows.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Cranking out the heater, a cup of coffee and a pastry,
- 26:54Speaker 2: finding something good on Netflix or in my own personal
- 26:57Speaker 2: viewing library.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Do you like winter mornings? You've got cold if you're
- 27:01Speaker 1: indoors though, Do you have a fireplace? Because we didn't have.
- 27:04Speaker 1: The last one thing I wish I had was a fireplace.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I love the smell when we're walking down the street
- 27:07Speaker 1: in the winter morning or winter afternoon and he can
- 27:09Speaker 1: smell someone's fireplaces burning. You go, oh, I need this
- 27:12Speaker 1: in my house. That is nice.
- 27:13Speaker 2: I midtally, I need to give someone a call because
- 27:15Speaker 2: I think the pilot lighters out. I'm like, guess heat, Oh, yeah,
- 27:18Speaker 2: you need to get that fixed a s I do indeed,
- 27:20Speaker 2: because yes, I've been firing out the little electric heaters
- 27:22Speaker 2: and I don't know something about My house is very,
- 27:24Speaker 2: very cold, and they're like, oh so hard to eat this.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Up with your guy.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Winter mornings are they're fine. Sometimes they are less than fine.
- 27:32Speaker 2: I do appreciate so, like if I've had the cleverness
- 27:36Speaker 2: to say, I've woken up at like five in the morning,
- 27:39Speaker 2: quick turn turn the heater on, so when you actually
- 27:41Speaker 2: get out of bed, it's gonna be and toasty.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I don't often think that way. I used to love
- 27:45Speaker 1: having showers at my uncle Darren's place, patron Saint Uncle Darren. Yeah,
- 27:49Speaker 1: because they had the heater lights in the bathroom. Yeah,
- 27:54Speaker 1: show like it's still warm. It's like I never left.
- 27:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I miss having because we've got a ducted heating, right,
- 28:01Speaker 1: so you only really feel it on you if you're
- 28:03Speaker 1: sitting underneath it. Right. I miss having a not even
- 28:06Speaker 1: it's just a gas gas heater, but just being able
- 28:09Speaker 1: to sit in front of it. Oh I got a
- 28:10Speaker 1: shower or whatever, I was laying down in front of
- 28:12Speaker 1: the heater, having the heat blasting onto you. I missed that.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Oh nothing better, Yeah, yeah, although I thinks better. But
- 28:16Speaker 1: that's pretty awesome.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Okay, there are some things better.
- 28:19Speaker 1: But as a kid, though, you'd race out the bath,
- 28:21Speaker 1: out of shower and you'd run and you sit in
- 28:23Speaker 1: front of the heater with your towel on it. It's just, yeah,
- 28:25Speaker 1: the best. So I do miss I miss sitting in
- 28:27Speaker 1: front of a heater.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I'm sure, sure I still learn that on occasion. But honestly,
- 28:32Speaker 2: you're nothing better than just sort of crawling under the
- 28:34Speaker 2: cover zone. So you've got everything done that you need
- 28:37Speaker 2: to get done. You've got a little time up your sleeve.
- 28:39Speaker 2: What time of day we talking in the afternoon?
- 28:41Speaker 1: Afternoon? Yeah, it's like, you know what, I think I'm
- 28:43Speaker 1: just gonna lie on the bed from it.
- 28:45Speaker 2: You know what, got this blanket on the bed, I've
- 28:46Speaker 2: got this rug on the bed.
- 28:47Speaker 1: I think I'm going to crawl to that. Oh my god,
- 28:49Speaker 1: Oh oh, this feels so good. Base He's like, motherfucker,
- 28:52Speaker 1: better be room for me up there. That's true.
- 28:55Speaker 2: He gets his little nestle on good times. Great classic kids,
- 28:58Speaker 2: that one.
- 28:58Speaker 1: You're right though. Winter has started early here, I mean
- 29:01Speaker 1: it's a week early. It's not fast. We're not We're
- 29:03Speaker 1: not in the first godamn week of winter yet. But
- 29:05Speaker 1: I've been getting the hot water bottles out put in
- 29:07Speaker 1: the kids' beds, and now like this is the The
- 29:08Speaker 1: idea of a hot water bottle is just like so
- 29:10Speaker 1: great to the kids.
- 29:11Speaker 2: That's the other thing when you mentioned winter. Yes, I
- 29:13Speaker 2: have two a broken out the hot water bottle, had
- 29:15Speaker 2: it in the bed last night.
- 29:16Speaker 1: It's like so yeah, so good. So okay. Another question,
- 29:23Speaker 1: all right, This one comes from Cooper. Cooper says from
- 29:27Speaker 1: the UK. If you had the option to drive through
- 29:30Speaker 1: Springfield on a Saturday afternoon with the windows down or
- 29:33Speaker 1: a nice warm Saturday night with the windows down, which
- 29:36Speaker 1: are you choosing? Oh, you can drive around Springfield in
- 29:39Speaker 1: the afternoon or drive around Springfield.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Of a night nighttime. I like the nighttime.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Yeah, that's an interesting question, isn't it. It is like
- 29:46Speaker 1: the way your brain works, Cooper. I think you'll see
- 29:48Speaker 1: a lot of more or different insanity. I think if
- 29:52Speaker 1: you walk around, if you drive around at daytime, it'd
- 29:56Speaker 1: be a different vibe. I like the idea of driving
- 29:57Speaker 1: around at night and just seeing every one out partying
- 30:01Speaker 1: or having you know, maybe I'd probably not if I
- 30:04Speaker 1: had the absolute choice, I probably would go daytime. I
- 30:07Speaker 1: think daytime is more chances of just seeing Springfield being Springfield,
- 30:11Speaker 1: if you're putting it that way.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Sure, I guess I'm just thinking about generally how I
- 30:15Speaker 2: like to drive when if I'm driving around sight seeing nice.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Nice warm nights with the windows, I met the window
- 30:20Speaker 1: would be cool. Cool music playing on you on your castereo.
- 30:24Speaker 1: What would you be seeing? I'd like to not drive
- 30:26Speaker 1: past like the Aztec Theater or the Android, not the
- 30:29Speaker 1: the arcade. What's the ark noise Land Arcade? At night?
- 30:32Speaker 1: Just seeing the bright lights of Springfield, Sure that would
- 30:34Speaker 1: be cool, but just driving around, Well, people are behaving
- 30:37Speaker 1: differently after day as well. Yeah, you're going to a
- 30:40Speaker 1: different type of people. I think you get more a
- 30:42Speaker 1: better idea of what Springfield is driving around on a
- 30:45Speaker 1: Saturday afternoon. Nough, don't you reckon? Oh yeah, I just
- 30:47Speaker 1: seeing the kids being kids, And certainly both had their virtues.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Man, I'm not suggesting one over the other, but I
- 30:53Speaker 2: like to know, I love the nightlife.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I like the boogie. Yes, all right, some more news.
- 30:59Speaker 1: So this one here comes from comic book dot Com
- 31:03Speaker 1: and they originally spoke with our man Matt Salmon. Our
- 31:05Speaker 1: dear friend, and he says, oh, he's my friend. Now,
- 31:08Speaker 1: that's nice, he's our friend. Yes. He reveals some details
- 31:10Speaker 1: about the new season. So the latest season, season thirty six,
- 31:13Speaker 1: just ended for The Simpsons, and he's revealed some details
- 31:16Speaker 1: for season thirty seven. So he says, The Simpsons has
- 31:19Speaker 1: been officially renewed for not only season thirty seven, but
- 31:21Speaker 1: three additional seasons to take it all the way through
- 31:23Speaker 1: to season forty, which we discussed last month. So to
- 31:26Speaker 1: speaking to Cracked, Simpsons show runer Matt Salmone dropped a
- 31:28Speaker 1: big tease for what's to come in the new season.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Alongside teasing some of the characters who will be getting
- 31:33Speaker 1: spotlights of their own in the coming season, there's also
- 31:36Speaker 1: a tease of more Disney Plus exclusive episodes hitting in
- 31:39Speaker 1: the near future too. He says, we're having fun digging
- 31:41Speaker 1: deeper into the side characters because we're doing a Chalmers
- 31:44Speaker 1: episode where he becomes a Menisphere kind of guru selling
- 31:47Speaker 1: male beauty products. HAA. We have a really terrific Lisa
- 31:51Speaker 1: and Marge show about the culture of thrifting and why
- 31:53Speaker 1: that's so popular with kids. Another side character who we're
- 31:55Speaker 1: going deeper into is Professor Frink. We have a little
- 31:58Speaker 1: bit of his emotional backstory, which is exciting as well.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Plus there's one about the Quimby family, so that's.
- 32:04Speaker 2: I'm there for the Quimby episode. Absolutely. I liked the
- 32:07Speaker 2: idea of the charm was one. I think that's good.
- 32:09Speaker 1: I feel like the Simpsons is finding its footing again.
- 32:11Speaker 1: There was a period there, the Dark Ages. What was
- 32:13Speaker 1: it called? Is it the Dark Times? It was over
- 32:15Speaker 1: one call, yeah, for the Empire. So there was a
- 32:21Speaker 1: period where I just felt that the Simpsons was just
- 32:24Speaker 1: there and it was just not putting out content that
- 32:26Speaker 1: really fans wanted. They've won a lot of people back,
- 32:29Speaker 1: and I'm in particularly really excited to see I'm gonna
- 32:32Speaker 1: throw this out there. I think it's because Sale has
- 32:33Speaker 1: more control of what they're going on. Now someone's down, man,
- 32:35Speaker 1: someone knows what Simpsons fans want. Now he's got more
- 32:38Speaker 1: control over things. I think we're starting to see more
- 32:41Speaker 1: of what the Simpsons should be in twenty twenty five
- 32:43Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. So I'm excited for those kind of
- 32:45Speaker 1: side characters getting their own episodes. Yeah.
- 32:47Speaker 2: No, Matt seems like he's very much on the ball
- 32:49Speaker 2: in terms of.
- 32:49Speaker 1: He wants the Simpsons. He loves the Simpsons. He wants
- 32:52Speaker 1: the Simpsonstist succeed. It's not like they've got people working
- 32:54Speaker 1: on the show that don't want it to be good.
- 32:56Speaker 1: He wants it to be the best it could possibly be.
- 32:57Speaker 2: No, absolutely, but you know it sounds like he's working
- 33:00Speaker 2: from a solid position of we've got this wealth of
- 33:03Speaker 2: characters who we're familiar with, maybe don't know or you know,
- 33:07Speaker 2: they contain multitudes. Yes, we haven't had a look at yet,
- 33:10Speaker 2: and also a matching of the characters. Would be interested
- 33:15Speaker 2: in seeing with stuff that's in the zeitgeist, that's in
- 33:18Speaker 2: the current conversation. I'll be very much looking forwarded. Like
- 33:22Speaker 2: I said, I mean, any episode about the Quimby family
- 33:24Speaker 2: I think would be great fun, particularly in these modern
- 33:27Speaker 2: political in this modern political climate, Freddy, It's gonna be great,
- 33:30Speaker 2: isn't it?
- 33:31Speaker 1: Bringing back Freddy Quimby Man? Some more news? Actually, get
- 33:38Speaker 1: some more questions now, so we get back to some questions.
- 33:41Speaker 1: This one here says is from Steph. She is from,
- 33:45Speaker 1: doesn't say where she's from. Steph says, you're now up
- 33:48Speaker 1: to season twenty, so you've now revisited many episodes of
- 33:51Speaker 1: the Simpsons. When do you genuinely think that the golden
- 33:54Speaker 1: era actually ended? So it seems to go to for
- 33:57Speaker 1: the golden year of the Simpsons is seasons one to ten.
- 34:00Speaker 1: People say one to nine, but many say one to ten,
- 34:02Speaker 1: season tens.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Well, some even say like three to ten.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Three to ten, Yeah, you're right, yeah, So they say
- 34:08Speaker 1: three to ten is like the golden ear of peak Simpsons.
- 34:11Speaker 1: There's two ways of looking at it. I do agree
- 34:13Speaker 1: that's where Mike Sculley took over the show in season
- 34:15Speaker 1: at nine, and many people think that's where the birth
- 34:17Speaker 1: of Jerkass home and it became a real cartoon the
- 34:20Speaker 1: Simpsons in season nine. I think my favorite ear of
- 34:23Speaker 1: the Simpsons season seven eight. I will say there are
- 34:25Speaker 1: still good episodes through to I mean still now with
- 34:29Speaker 1: finding good episodes. I think after season twelve you can
- 34:31Speaker 1: say it's still really really good. There's some tripe in there,
- 34:35Speaker 1: don't get me wrong, but I think it's still really
- 34:36Speaker 1: really got. The season twelve, what's he like the teen era?
- 34:40Speaker 1: It starts getting a bit shaky. You've got some great
- 34:42Speaker 1: episodes in there, but it starts getting more shaky than not,
- 34:45Speaker 1: and it doesn't feel like the Simpsons that it once was.
- 34:48Speaker 1: If I've been completely honest, though, I do agree. I
- 34:50Speaker 1: do think that two, not three. Two through to nine
- 34:55Speaker 1: is peak Simpsons. What you define is a golden era,
- 34:57Speaker 1: I don't know the golden era. I guess you could say,
- 34:59Speaker 1: is that that when it was at its peak. Yeah,
- 35:01Speaker 1: that's not to say that anything through like nine through
- 35:03Speaker 1: to twelve thirteen isn't good. It's still a good era,
- 35:07Speaker 1: it's just not quite what to through nine was. No,
- 35:09Speaker 1: that's right.
- 35:10Speaker 2: I mean, well, you've got to have your apex period,
- 35:12Speaker 2: haven't you. But yeah, yeah, I think by the time
- 35:15Speaker 2: your teenage years, you'll regarded as kind of success. Not
- 35:18Speaker 2: that you're cruising or coasting on your laurels or resting
- 35:21Speaker 2: on your aurels or anything like that, but you've hit
- 35:23Speaker 2: this weird sort of stage where it's like, oh, you know,
- 35:26Speaker 2: with the boss or at the top of the mountain,
- 35:27Speaker 2: all that kind of stuff. But we've also got people
- 35:29Speaker 2: coming for the throne. Yeah, we have to do we
- 35:33Speaker 2: stay how we are? Do we evolve? Do we adjust?
- 35:36Speaker 2: Do we try to be like something that's new or
- 35:38Speaker 2: you know, and you know, is that us selling out
- 35:41Speaker 2: or is that are just moving with the times. It's
- 35:43Speaker 2: a very complicated thing.
- 35:44Speaker 1: South Park change things. A lot of people look to
- 35:46Speaker 1: Family Guy and say, oh, because Family Guy became successful,
- 35:48Speaker 1: Simpsons trying to become Family Guy. South Park was that
- 35:51Speaker 1: it's certainly more South Park and its south South Puck
- 35:56Speaker 1: was the reason Simpsons weren't the cool animated show anymore. Yeah.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Absolutely, I feel a bit bad for or the Simpsons
- 36:00Speaker 2: in that regard because, yeah, it's not like the Simpsons
- 36:04Speaker 2: had to change anything about it. So because they're two very,
- 36:07Speaker 2: very different shows in so many ways. And yeah, if
- 36:11Speaker 2: the Simpsons was thinking, oh, we have to alter our
- 36:15Speaker 2: tone or our voice or something like that in order
- 36:18Speaker 2: to remain relevant, remain popular.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Or whatever, I feel that's a bit of a shame. Yeah. Oh,
- 36:23Speaker 1: I know, there's there's a room for both. I have
- 36:25Speaker 1: brought this up many times, and Mike was Mike Scully
- 36:28Speaker 1: when we interviewed and was talking about it how he
- 36:30Speaker 1: incorporated the nine to five mentality when he came to
- 36:32Speaker 1: the Simpsons writer's room for that peak period. It was no,
- 36:36Speaker 1: you lived in the in the writer's room until we
- 36:38Speaker 1: got what we wanted right, And even then they weren't
- 36:40Speaker 1: quite happy, but they spent their lives in that writer's room.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Mike Scully is like, no, this is a job. You've
- 36:45Speaker 1: got families to go home to. And I think the
- 36:47Speaker 1: Simpsons suffered as a result because they didn't have people
- 36:51Speaker 1: they might have gone, there's ten minutes left, let's just
- 36:54Speaker 1: go with this game.
- 36:55Speaker 2: It's a good enough mentality.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, And that started to seep into the
- 36:59Speaker 1: show to the point where the good enough mentality became
- 37:03Speaker 1: just the mentality. Yeah.
- 37:04Speaker 2: And you realize, you know, even if you're not like
- 37:07Speaker 2: a comedy professional, even a comedy connosseewer, you kind of
- 37:10Speaker 2: go that joke needed one more draft. You could have
- 37:13Speaker 2: punched that up just a little bit more. Yep, you
- 37:16Speaker 2: settled for the second or third idea that you came
- 37:18Speaker 2: up with. It's like, no, you needed a little more time,
- 37:20Speaker 2: just to put a bit more polish on that.
- 37:22Speaker 1: And don't get me wrong, I think it's great that
- 37:24Speaker 1: they incorporated the nine to five mentality the Simpsons if
- 37:27Speaker 1: it meant that the Simpsons were still going to be
- 37:29Speaker 1: seventy five percent of what The Simpsons is instead of
- 37:31Speaker 1: one hundred percent. And people get to go home to
- 37:33Speaker 1: their families at five o'clock every night. Yeah, I'm all
- 37:35Speaker 1: for it, you know what I mean. I'm not paying
- 37:36Speaker 1: for this entertainment. They're still entertaining me. But these people
- 37:39Speaker 1: deserve lives. They have kids at home. I think now
- 37:41Speaker 1: becoming a father, I think I see it more from
- 37:43Speaker 1: that perspective of it. You don't want to be you
- 37:46Speaker 1: want the Simpsons a bit the best it can be,
- 37:47Speaker 1: but you also want to make sure that people work
- 37:49Speaker 1: on the show aren't burnt out either, and they have lives.
- 37:52Speaker 2: And yeah, I get where you're coming from. Well, where
- 37:56Speaker 2: we're approaching. I guess life and create everything very different
- 38:00Speaker 2: positions in that you're a family man, I'm not. I
- 38:04Speaker 2: don't want to say, oh, look, it used to be
- 38:06Speaker 2: better when in certain ways, but I think you can
- 38:09Speaker 2: see as companies, producers, whatever, have become more cognizant and
- 38:15Speaker 2: more sensitive about hey, work life balance, don't burn yourself out,
- 38:19Speaker 2: all that kind of thing. I think you know, there
- 38:21Speaker 2: was certainly a time and a place when it's like,
- 38:24Speaker 2: no eyes on the prize, get it done, stay late, no,
- 38:28Speaker 2: you know, no dinner breaks anything like that. Get the
- 38:31Speaker 2: work done. I don't like you like me, and I
- 38:36Speaker 2: don't know what's that saying you know, pressure makes diamonds. Look,
- 38:39Speaker 2: there's still good stuff out there, absolutely, And I guessing
- 38:41Speaker 2: I'm I'm guessing a lot of stuff that I really
- 38:44Speaker 2: really enjoy has been made under circumstances.
- 38:46Speaker 1: It's like, guys, it's just TV. Let's not kill ourselves here.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but I get there also the feeling that there
- 38:51Speaker 2: was a lot of great stuff. Maybe it's like, no,
- 38:53Speaker 2: we're staying until it's fucking done, until we cannot improve
- 38:58Speaker 2: there's anymore.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Yeah. And if I watching those earlier Simpsons, don't you. Yeah. Yeah.
- 39:02Speaker 2: So look, it's a tough one. I mean, no one
- 39:05Speaker 2: wants to work themselves to death. But at the same time,
- 39:08Speaker 2: if you work yourself to death, then you've got something.
- 39:10Speaker 1: That's why four figure discounts so good. Because I'm up
- 39:12Speaker 1: till two three am in the morning editing the ship,
- 39:14Speaker 1: don't I know. Alrighty, So one more question that we're
- 39:20Speaker 1: getting some more news this when he.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Comes from Where's the name is from?
- 39:26Speaker 1: Matt? That says, what is your favorite Simpsons tie in merch,
- 39:30Speaker 1: whether it be a fast food happy meal toy or
- 39:32Speaker 1: something out of a chip packet like the Tazos as
- 39:34Speaker 1: you like to call them. In Australia. What is your
- 39:36Speaker 1: favorite Simpsons Tye in merch. I'm a big fan of
- 39:39Speaker 1: Tazos as a kid. If you go up the nineties,
- 39:41Speaker 1: Tazos were the thing that we all collected. What was
- 39:43Speaker 1: your what was the thing you guys collected was a
- 39:45Speaker 1: bubblegum cards, stickers, Oh yeah, cards, cars, Yeah, trading cards
- 39:50Speaker 1: were very big for us. That's still big for my generation.
- 39:53Speaker 1: But then we had Tazo's in the chip packets and
- 39:56Speaker 1: that was like so cool. But no, cards have all types.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Yeah, when certainly when I was a kid, I mean, sorry,
- 40:03Speaker 2: we're not really talking Simpsons, Merchi Matt, but my.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Apockets, Simpsons tying his cards on the wall there, there's
- 40:08Speaker 1: all that stuff.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Absolutely, but this is not something that I was buying
- 40:10Speaker 2: when when the Simpsons was on, and I was the
- 40:14Speaker 2: age that I was when it happened. Yeah, but yeah,
- 40:17Speaker 2: certainly growing up, I mean yeah, footy cards every footy season,
- 40:20Speaker 2: you'd just go wild for it. You'd spend all your
- 40:21Speaker 2: pocket money on it. Dad didn't get free footy cards. No, no, okay.
- 40:25Speaker 2: The band Kiss were very big with trading cards. Really, yeah,
- 40:29Speaker 2: Because there was a phase in the late seventies early
- 40:31Speaker 2: eighties when Kiss was just like huge, especially huge in Australia.
- 40:34Speaker 1: You got to respect that hustle.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. Yeah, they were putting their brand on
- 40:38Speaker 2: just about everything. But yeah they had trading cards.
- 40:41Speaker 1: And comic books and everything, didn't they.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Oh they had everything, but certainly trading cards. But and
- 40:46Speaker 2: Star Wars cards. Star Wars cards were huge.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I was a big fan of trading cards
- 40:51Speaker 1: as a kid. You look back now and you think why.
- 40:53Speaker 1: But it was just fun to collect, wasn't it.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, absolutely. I mean it was a real catch
- 40:57Speaker 2: them all, that's the thing. And it was a real
- 41:00Speaker 2: social experience as well, because like you'd meet it, you'd
- 41:02Speaker 2: meet a recess and that I'll give you two and
- 41:04Speaker 2: so and sover that for that one.
- 41:07Speaker 1: You're not getting that. Oh I'm getting that. Let's make
- 41:12Speaker 1: a deal.
- 41:14Speaker 2: So yeah, trading cards were probably the very big thing.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, I have memories of I said, the tasos
- 41:20Speaker 1: CC's had these three D sort of motion Taso ones.
- 41:24Speaker 1: They went around discs. They were little rectangle ones and
- 41:28Speaker 1: if you collected them all there were little pieces of
- 41:30Speaker 1: like a puzzle. So I think each one had like
- 41:33Speaker 1: sixteen cards and you get a little album and you
- 41:35Speaker 1: put them in and if you had them all it'd
- 41:37Speaker 1: make a little picture. They were pretty cool. They were
- 41:40Speaker 1: in CC's and I remember Simpson's Natalla glasses because all
- 41:45Speaker 1: through the supermarket recently, and Nicholas like, do you think
- 41:48Speaker 1: kids would like Natala? I thought maybe. I said, let's
- 41:51Speaker 1: see what glasses have got this time, And they don't
- 41:52Speaker 1: do it anymore. It used to be you buy Natala,
- 41:54Speaker 1: it'd be in a glass jar. Once you finish the Natala,
- 41:57Speaker 1: you get to kick the glass and used to have
- 41:59Speaker 1: a lot of simp one's doing that, and they don't
- 42:01Speaker 1: do that anymore. I thought, what a clever marketing campaign.
- 42:04Speaker 1: It was buying the teller. You get the tailor and
- 42:06Speaker 1: you get a glass out of it. Yeah, so I
- 42:08Speaker 1: still have them from when else a kid? The Simpsons
- 42:10Speaker 1: and teleglasses they were great as well. So and there's
- 42:12Speaker 1: been some really good I.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Have bad news, Dan, your cat has just knocked them
- 42:16Speaker 2: off the shelf.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me. It seems like the Simpsons
- 42:19Speaker 1: were always tied in with hungry jacks in Australia king
- 42:24Speaker 1: in America. So whenever you get Simpsons merchandise, it was
- 42:27Speaker 1: usually from Hungry Jackson. I had this Simpsons pencil case.
- 42:30Speaker 1: It was about I don't know, twenty five centimeters long
- 42:32Speaker 1: little tin that you put your pens and your pencil
- 42:34Speaker 1: and your sharpener and stuff. And I use it at
- 42:36Speaker 1: Primar School for like three years. That's fucking great. Yeah,
- 42:39Speaker 1: so Simpsons time match is pretty pretty fun. All right,
- 42:41Speaker 1: some more news. So recently it was announce that Pamela
- 42:44Speaker 1: Hayden is retiring or like last year, she's retiring from
- 42:46Speaker 1: voicing Millhouse no longer doing that. They finally have revealed
- 42:50Speaker 1: who the new voice of Millhouse is going to be.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Tell me yeah, So she was the voice of the
- 42:55Speaker 1: latest episode of the season finale, but she voiced an
- 42:57Speaker 1: older version of Millhouse. Doesn't say if she's going to
- 42:59Speaker 1: be voice new younger version of Milhouse. Just says she's
- 43:01Speaker 1: going to be voicing Milhouse. So the first time we
- 43:03Speaker 1: heard her, she was voicing in and older Millhouse in
- 43:07Speaker 1: a flash forward. Her name is Kelly McLeod, So McLeod. Previously,
- 43:11Speaker 1: she appeared on The Simpsons in twenty twenty two in
- 43:14Speaker 1: the season thirty three episode But the Cool Kids, she
- 43:17Speaker 1: performed the song two Badgers One mind in the app
- 43:19Speaker 1: which also starred The Weekend and Michael Rapper, Paul Rapperport Rapperport. Yes,
- 43:24Speaker 1: she's a musician. She began her career as a member
- 43:26Speaker 1: of the rock band Private Life, which released two albums
- 43:29Speaker 1: produced by Eddie Van Halen and Ted Templeman. The band's
- 43:32Speaker 1: song Touched Me was featured on the soundtrack of both
- 43:34Speaker 1: Wayne's World and Gremlin's to the New Batch ho It Moly,
- 43:38Speaker 1: So she is showbiz lifer. Yeah. In twenty and nine,
- 43:41Speaker 1: McLean McLeod sorry acted in the short film Slice of
- 43:44Speaker 1: Pie and spent a decade with another band, the Sweet Potatoes.
- 43:47Speaker 1: She released a solo album, Wide Open, in twenty twenty one.
- 43:51Speaker 1: So a really left field choice. Absolutely, Usually they choose
- 43:54Speaker 1: a famous comedian or whatnot, And no, they've obviously just
- 43:56Speaker 1: gone for someone and they felt was probably best for
- 43:58Speaker 1: the role. Well that's right, I mean.
- 43:59Speaker 2: And the other thing is, yeah, you know, you'll find
- 44:01Speaker 2: a lot of voice actors actually have fairly wide ranging careers.
- 44:04Speaker 2: I mean, I'm thinking of say, Elizabeth Daily, who was
- 44:07Speaker 2: you know, the voice of Babe, but she was also
- 44:09Speaker 2: like an actor in various things e g.
- 44:11Speaker 1: Daily, eg Daily. Yes, Yeah, also known as Elizbeth Dawie. Yeah,
- 44:14Speaker 1: she was. He's Tommy Pickles, Yeah, she was in Dottie
- 44:17Speaker 1: and Pee's bigger than Yeah. Four figure discount is brought

- 44:48Speaker 2: By the way, great doco on HBO in the States
- 44:53Speaker 2: on the Max service here in Australia called Pee Wee
- 44:56Speaker 2: as Himself. We reviewed Pee Wee's Big Adventure, I think
- 44:58Speaker 2: for no on the movie Guy with Malton Davis, but
- 45:01Speaker 2: just us talking about it. You were a little bit
- 45:03Speaker 2: amused by it. I thought it was great. This is
- 45:06Speaker 2: a really good documentary about Pee Wee, Herman and Paul Rubens,
- 45:09Speaker 2: the man who created.
- 45:10Speaker 1: And played him.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Essentially, it's a really interesting look into the pea phenomena,
- 45:15Speaker 2: but also just the active creation in that regard. It's
- 45:18Speaker 2: really really good, quite quite moving, actually, I got to say,
- 45:20Speaker 2: so well worth checking.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Out for friends fans. E. G. Daly is the singer
- 45:24Speaker 1: of Smelly Cat. Correct.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Yeah, so, yeah, you'll find people like that who have
- 45:28Speaker 2: just sort of not necessarily drifted from role to role.
- 45:31Speaker 2: But as we've talked about, you know, you do a
- 45:33Speaker 2: little bit of this, little bit of that, a little
- 45:35Speaker 2: bit of so and so, and it all comes together
- 45:37Speaker 2: to form quite a fulfilling body of work and career.
- 45:41Speaker 1: She's most predominantly known as a voice actor though oh yeah,
- 45:43Speaker 1: absolute powerpuff Girls, Rugrats Acy, but she also has like
- 45:46Speaker 1: a singing career as well. Yeah she has and all
- 45:48Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. Yes, it wasn't one of her
- 45:50Speaker 1: songs in Peewee's. No, one of her songs was in
- 45:52Speaker 1: a major film, I think so, although I can't remember
- 45:55Speaker 1: off the top anyway. But yeah, So it turns out that, yeah,
- 45:57Speaker 1: Callum McLoud is the new voice of mille Us, at
- 46:00Speaker 1: least in the finale. I'm not sure if it means
- 46:02Speaker 1: going forward as a normal Millhouse, but we shall soon
- 46:04Speaker 1: find out.
- 46:05Speaker 2: I think they're going to be announcing it. I imagine
- 46:06Speaker 2: we'll be hearing a bit more from Kelly macloud forward.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Yeah, because I've found the recent replacements for the voice
- 46:13Speaker 1: actors haven't quite been right for me. That ain't it, Chief, No,
- 46:17Speaker 1: it just feels like they've hired their buddies. You know.
- 46:19Speaker 1: They sound like somebody. It sounds like you're mate trying
- 46:22Speaker 1: to do a doctor Hibbitt or it sounds like you're
- 46:24Speaker 1: mate trying to do a Karl. It doesn't sound like Carl, all.
- 46:27Speaker 2: The hosts of four Finger Discount imitating various characters.
- 46:32Speaker 1: So yeah, so that is the new voice of Millhouse.
- 46:34Speaker 1: So excited to see what she sounds like with normal
- 46:36Speaker 1: Millhouse voices. Nice, good on your land on that gig, Kelly, Yes,
- 46:39Speaker 1: get in the back, let's do a few more questions
- 46:40Speaker 1: and we'll get out of here. Okay, this one's for you, guy,
- 46:44Speaker 1: This one's from Ted. Ted says guy, So this one's
- 46:47Speaker 1: for you. As I just said, do you have any
- 46:49Speaker 1: recent autobiographies that you can recommend it that I read?
- 46:52Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, that's a very good question, Ted.
- 46:56Speaker 1: You're always talking about I'm reading this biography. I'm reading
- 46:58Speaker 1: this biograph at the moment.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Yeah, not so many autobiographies.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Who was the one Billy Joels for My Wife or something?
- 47:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I haven't read the one by Christie Brinkley,
- 47:07Speaker 2: although that does sound very interesting.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Oh, Ted, you've put me on the spot. What's one
- 47:12Speaker 1: that you read last?
- 47:13Speaker 2: The ones that are currently on the shelf, either I've
- 47:16Speaker 2: started or I'm about to start. There was the one
- 47:19Speaker 2: by Albercino called Sunny Boy, which is yeah, I've read
- 47:22Speaker 2: a bit of that and that was pretty good. Stanley
- 47:24Speaker 2: Tucci seems to have like a real career in not
- 47:27Speaker 2: so much acting these days, although he still acts, but
- 47:29Speaker 2: he's more like I'm GoF to Italy or I'm about
- 47:32Speaker 2: to write a book about my life or whatever. He's
- 47:34Speaker 2: just written one called Things I Ate in one Year
- 47:36Speaker 2: bed that he's a really good storyteller.
- 47:38Speaker 1: So I enjoyed that a whole lot.
- 47:40Speaker 2: And any good documentaries you could recommend, well, well just recommended, yeah.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Something on Netflix. You've seen TV guy, Let's go t T.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, you would be aware of course of R. L. Stein,
- 47:52Speaker 1: the writer of Goosebumps. Yeah yeah, he's written also these
- 47:55Speaker 1: other things called fear Street. They think of him more
- 47:57Speaker 1: of a grown ups late Teams eighteens perhaps, although yeah,
- 48:01Speaker 1: I mean Netflix has made a bunch of movies. Of those,
- 48:04Speaker 1: there's one that's just dropped the street. Oh is that
- 48:07Speaker 1: Fear Street prom Queen? Oh yeah, I have seen that. Actually, yeah,
- 48:10Speaker 1: I didn't put two and two together. It's okay, look
- 48:13Speaker 1: there are four kids essentially. No, it's for for adults. Okay,
- 48:17Speaker 1: it's more for adults because it gets pretty bloody.
- 48:20Speaker 2: It's like a it's set in nineteen eighty seven, so
- 48:22Speaker 2: it's got that whole sort of eighties teen movie thing
- 48:24Speaker 2: going on.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Is this the anthology ones where they did like a
- 48:26Speaker 1: nineties one as well?
- 48:27Speaker 2: It is, although this is different because they did Fear
- 48:29Speaker 2: Street and there were three movies that were sort of interconnected.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Now this one's more of a standalone.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I do like the idea of anthology though.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, but this one is I think I
- 48:39Speaker 2: wrote somewhere. Look, these are corny and cheesy, but they
- 48:41Speaker 2: go down.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Easy's some that's goodsepops for you though, that's very much so. Yeah.
- 48:44Speaker 2: So look, if you're in the move for something that
- 48:47Speaker 2: I don't know, there's got some good gory gags. In
- 48:49Speaker 2: it one or two decent one liners, but basically a
- 48:53Speaker 2: lot of photogenic teens are getting cut the hell up.
- 48:55Speaker 1: He sounds like what I grew up horror, knowing horror
- 48:58Speaker 1: to be though. Oh yeah, yeah, it's kind of a
- 49:00Speaker 1: throwback to that stuff because even the Friday the third
- 49:03Speaker 1: franchise and Halloween, Halloween maybe not so much, but Friday
- 49:05Speaker 1: that they were corny.
- 49:06Speaker 2: They're all the same. Yeah, and they're all very corny.
- 49:08Speaker 1: You're right. I think Halloween was more of a serious
- 49:10Speaker 1: look at that. I mean, it was still silly, but
- 49:14Speaker 1: I think I believed Halloween more than i'd believe Jason Vohes,
- 49:18Speaker 1: like I believe Makolm Myers was a more realistic than
- 49:20Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Jason Vohes. If that makes sense, it does, absolutely, Yeah,
- 49:24Speaker 1: Child from the Damn absolutely but ted.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Look some other older berry I recommend that I haven't well,
- 49:30Speaker 2: I've read these while back, but certainly Mike Nichols a
- 49:34Speaker 2: life I had, very interesting one called Miss May does
- 49:36Speaker 2: not exist about Mike nichols gredit partner Elaine May.
- 49:39Speaker 1: Very good stuff.
- 49:40Speaker 2: And I'm about to start one called The Past to Paradise,
- 49:43Speaker 2: which is about Francis Ford Coppler and especially the making
- 49:45Speaker 2: of Apocalypse now supposedly very very good, looking forward to
- 49:48Speaker 2: cracking that one.
- 49:49Speaker 1: Alright, now, I'm to jump into the Patreon group because
- 49:52Speaker 1: you posted this morning asked for some questions. Let's see
- 49:55Speaker 1: if anyone responded, because I was unable to do so
- 49:57Speaker 1: because of the whole the algorithm, the metter. Okay, so
- 50:03Speaker 1: we've got two ones quickly A sent because the very
- 50:05Speaker 1: last minute. All right, so Femas says, describe how you're
- 50:09Speaker 1: able to convince guy to come on board money? What
- 50:15Speaker 1: can I say? No?
- 50:17Speaker 2: No, I mean people are always asking you how did
- 50:22Speaker 2: this podcast come about? And you know, and Thursday, I
- 50:24Speaker 2: was working at pop Culture back in what twenty seventeen?
- 50:26Speaker 2: I think it was twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen.
- 50:28Speaker 1: I started in early. No, I started early twenty seventeen,
- 50:32Speaker 1: all right, so and I started not long after you, Yeah,
- 50:35Speaker 1: about a year tho, I reckon, I really might be
- 50:36Speaker 1: twenty eighteen you started. You think you could have been
- 50:39Speaker 1: there for a while because I was taught you how
- 50:41Speaker 1: to do shit. Remember, well that's true, okay, yes, whatever,
- 50:45Speaker 1: whenever it was, it doesn't okay.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Anyway, my first pop Culture they pop me down next
- 50:49Speaker 2: to Dando, who says, call me Dwande, and I'm like,
- 50:51Speaker 2: shouldn't I be calling you by your first name?
- 50:52Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 50:53Speaker 2: No, no, call me down gets talking about his podcast. I
- 50:56Speaker 2: get to talking about the shit that I always talk about,
- 50:58Speaker 2: and we realized.
- 50:59Speaker 1: Hmm, it's chocolate and peanut at the time.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Now, But he was doing the show with Mitch at
- 51:03Speaker 2: that stage, but then Mitch decided he wanted to strike
- 51:05Speaker 2: out and examine new things. So yeah, I think I
- 51:09Speaker 2: was broad on board and that was it.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Can you talk, guy? And You're like, I can talk
- 51:13Speaker 1: for money.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I was like, fine, sometimes I talk for love, but
- 51:18Speaker 2: mostly I talk for money.
- 51:19Speaker 1: No, no, So yeah, oh, of good.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Dann I mentioned the fact that you know, there are
- 51:23Speaker 2: patrons and I'll throw us a little bit of cash,
- 51:25Speaker 2: and like, hey, happy to do it. I mean, I'd
- 51:27Speaker 2: appeared on Four Finger Discounts a few episodes just as
- 51:31Speaker 2: a video as a guest doing things like that. It
- 51:34Speaker 2: didn't take a lot of commencing. I saw that Dana
- 51:36Speaker 2: was a smart guy, and yeah, that he put together
- 51:39Speaker 2: something really very very interesting, and you know, it was
- 51:42Speaker 2: a good foundation to work from. And oh, I like
- 51:45Speaker 2: to think that the four Finger Disco in network has
- 51:47Speaker 2: sort of grown a little bit since I came on board.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Yeah, indeed, Yeah, it was fun though in those early
- 51:52Speaker 1: days to watch you come in and watch Mitch go Oh,
- 51:55Speaker 1: there's someone here knows more about movies than I do.
- 52:02Speaker 2: And I must admit I did try to convince Mit
- 52:04Speaker 2: should say, hey, Mitch, I bet you and I bustl
- 52:07Speaker 2: Dando out of this thing. He wouldn't go for it, honorable,
- 52:13Speaker 2: honorable man.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Yes he is indeed. All right. Well, that just about
- 52:16Speaker 1: wraps it up this arm for this week, because the
- 52:17Speaker 1: other question was Rachel McClean. What I said the last
- 52:19Speaker 1: name Woosie was Rachel saying the same question she posted
- 52:22Speaker 1: in the Patreon group. In the on the Patreon feed
- 52:25Speaker 1: was the which episode deserves a sequel? So we won't
- 52:28Speaker 1: go back to that. We already told you that one, Rachel.
- 52:30Speaker 1: We've already answered that one. I believe it might have
- 52:31Speaker 1: been one of the first ones that we answered. But yeah,
- 52:33Speaker 1: I thank you guys for all of your support. He
- 52:34Speaker 1: had four finger Discount's been a fun month. Next month
- 52:37Speaker 1: we have posted to the to the patrons asking them
- 52:39Speaker 1: which one they would want us to review classic episode,
- 52:42Speaker 1: and they have gone with camp krusty with a summer
- 52:45Speaker 1: holiday vibe, and they chose that one over the one
- 52:49Speaker 1: with Ali Baldwin when you dish upon a star. Yes,
- 52:53Speaker 1: because that was the beach at start of the episode
- 52:54Speaker 1: and blah blah blah. So they've gone with camp Krusty,
- 52:56Speaker 1: but it's gonna be fun to revisit, So look out
- 52:58Speaker 1: for that one in your feeds next month. I wouldn't
- 53:00Speaker 1: like the ball.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Is that the one that ends with my favorite Simpson image?
- 53:03Speaker 1: I know, yeah, I was just going, I'll put up there,
- 53:05Speaker 1: I went, I hope they picked It's just for guy
- 53:06Speaker 1: to do that? How would you have done it again?
- 53:11Speaker 2: One of my favorite images of all time, not just
- 53:13Speaker 2: from The Simpsons, but sometimes Hollywood.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Stealing someone's idea.
- 53:20Speaker 2: Two bags of money, brilliant. One of these days when
- 53:25Speaker 2: we turn a prophit here, we're already doing that. We
- 53:30Speaker 2: do exactly the same thing.
