- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Each day in our study of the nine Gifts of
- 1:26Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit, we have prefaced with the scripture from
- 1:31Speaker 2: First Corinthians twelve verses seven through eleven. But the manifestation
- 1:36Speaker 2: of the Spirit is given to each one for the
- 1:39Speaker 2: profit of all. For to one is given the word
- 1:42Speaker 2: of wisdom through the Spirit to another, the word of
- 1:45Speaker 2: knowledge through the same spirit to another, faith by the
- 1:49Speaker 2: same spirit to another, gifts of healings by the same
- 1:53Speaker 2: spirit to another, the working of miracles to another. Prophecy
- 1:59Speaker 2: to another, decer learning of spirits to another, different kinds
- 2:03Speaker 2: of tongues to another. The interpretation of tongues but one
- 2:08Speaker 2: and the same spirit works all these things, distributing to
- 2:13Speaker 2: each one individually as he wills. We have come to
- 2:21Speaker 2: the close of our study on the nine gifts of
- 2:26Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit. We have come to the last of
- 2:31Speaker 2: those gifts that are outlined, the interpretation of tongues. It's
- 2:38Speaker 2: important for us to realize that there are means of
- 2:45Speaker 2: being able to understand languages. Obviously, if you have been
- 2:52Speaker 2: taught a foreign language, and you can read it, write it,
- 2:57Speaker 2: and speak it, then you have the ability to understand
- 3:02Speaker 2: that language. When someone perhaps of that country or nation
- 3:08Speaker 2: or their culture has come into your presence, you will
- 3:13Speaker 2: be able to interpret what they're saying. They're people who
- 3:19Speaker 2: know many languages and they are able to interpret them.
- 3:25Speaker 2: But in this particular case, we are again speaking of
- 3:30Speaker 2: not knowing the language and yet able to interpret it.
- 3:37Speaker 2: How does this happen? Well, let's see if we could
- 3:42Speaker 2: give you a few examples. In the past, I have
- 3:47Speaker 2: had very good relationship with ministries in other parts of
- 3:53Speaker 2: the world. In one case, a group of missionaries who
- 4:00Speaker 2: worked in the area of West Africa, in an area
- 4:05Speaker 2: called Ghana, were actually able to see how the Holy
- 4:11Speaker 2: Spirit manifested the gifts of the Holy Spirit through people
- 4:18Speaker 2: who were unlearned and actually could not read. These people
- 4:27Speaker 2: were given the opportunity to hear the gospel it was
- 4:34Speaker 2: proclaimed to them, and in the manner that the Holy
- 4:37Speaker 2: Spirit chose to reveal Jesus to the people, when they
- 4:44Speaker 2: realized that Jesus died paid the price for their sin.
- 4:51Speaker 2: When they realized that this was for them, they in
- 4:57Speaker 2: turn became excited and very happy about this revelation. Now,
- 5:05Speaker 2: keep in mind, they could not read, but they could hear.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Now they heard in their language a means of being
- 5:18Speaker 2: able to describe what Jesus had done for them. And
- 5:25Speaker 2: because they understood that, they were open to receive Jesus,
- 5:32Speaker 2: and through receiving him, they were also very open to
- 5:37Speaker 2: receiving all of the power of the Holy Spirit. You see,
- 5:43Speaker 2: these people did not have modern day conveniences. They lived
- 5:49Speaker 2: very primitively, and yet without even being taught how to read,
- 5:56Speaker 2: they were able to speak the Word, the words of
- 6:01Speaker 2: God in their languages, and they were actually speaking biblical
- 6:09Speaker 2: verses without reading them. This is the way that the
- 6:15Speaker 2: Holy Spirit manifested the gift of tongues. It was their language,
- 6:23Speaker 2: but it was interpreted to be the Bible revealed even
- 6:30Speaker 2: though they could not read. One of the ways God
- 6:36Speaker 2: uses the gift of interpretation of tongues. Now, let's look
- 6:43Speaker 2: at the scriptural references also found in First Corinthians, where
- 6:49Speaker 2: it encourages us to speak, but it also encourages us
- 6:56Speaker 2: that we must be able to speak with an interpreter.
- 7:03Speaker 2: If there's no interpreter present, then we are supposed to
- 7:07Speaker 2: keep silent if we are in a church assembly, a
- 7:13Speaker 2: body gathered together. Now this does not mean that it
- 7:18Speaker 2: cannot be spoken in a small group, but it in
- 7:24Speaker 2: most cases will require interpretation. The scripture says in First
- 7:30Speaker 2: Corinthians chapter fourteen and verses twenty seven and twenty eight,
- 7:35Speaker 2: if anyone speaks in a language, let there be two
- 7:40Speaker 2: or at the most three each in turn, and let
- 7:45Speaker 2: one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him
- 7:51Speaker 2: keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself
- 7:56Speaker 2: and to God. First Corinthians fourteen, twenty seven to twenty eight.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Now we're going to talk more about that in just
- 8:04Speaker 2: a moment. The second verse is therefore, let him who
- 8:10Speaker 2: speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. For
- 8:16Speaker 2: if I pray in a tongue or language, my spirit prays,
- 8:22Speaker 2: but my understanding is unfruitful. One Corinthians fourteen thirteen to fourteen.
- 8:30Speaker 2: In the first verse, we are looking at how others
- 8:35Speaker 2: can interpret the language which we speak. That would be
- 8:40Speaker 2: if we were in a church gathering, an assembly, where
- 8:44Speaker 2: there would be many people perhaps that would not be
- 8:48Speaker 2: aware of what this language could mean. But the second
- 8:52Speaker 2: verse shows us that the Holy Spirit can give you
- 8:57Speaker 2: or I the interpretation of what you yourself have prayed
- 9:04Speaker 2: in another language, and as you're praying it, you may
- 9:09Speaker 2: get that interpretation which comes directly from the Holy Spirit.
- 9:16Speaker 2: It's again a very powerful gift because you're receiving it
- 9:23Speaker 2: from the Lord, and you want to be able to
- 9:27Speaker 2: bring this type of language understanding to others. When you
- 9:35Speaker 2: pray in a tongue, you are either going to interpret
- 9:42Speaker 2: yourself or someone else will be able to interpret it
- 9:48Speaker 2: for you. But if you cannot have an interpreter present,
- 9:56Speaker 2: then you are to remain silent. This is just a
- 10:00Speaker 2: means of conduct in a church gathering. Remember it is
- 10:05Speaker 2: not being forbidden, but it is done in order because
- 10:10Speaker 2: there may be more than one person that can deliver
- 10:14Speaker 2: a message, and it may be in a totally different language.
- 10:18Speaker 2: But it says, let two or at the most free
- 10:23Speaker 2: each one in turn, and let one interpret. But if
- 10:30Speaker 2: there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the church,
- 10:36Speaker 2: let him speak to himself and to God. So you
- 10:41Speaker 2: can pray in a tongue directly to God because the
- 10:47Speaker 2: Holy Spirit gives you that connection. Now let me give
- 10:52Speaker 2: you another example where interpretation of tongues and speaking in
- 10:58Speaker 2: tongues is a powerful weapon in your arsenal of spiritual warfare.
- 11:07Speaker 2: If you can remember when we were talking about war
- 11:11Speaker 2: and victory, the spiritual warfare, we're talking about the Christian
- 11:17Speaker 2: fight of faith, where we are setting others free when
- 11:23Speaker 2: we pray in a tongue direct from God. The enemy
- 11:30Speaker 2: being the devil and his demons, cannot interpret that language.
- 11:36Speaker 2: That means they are not able to keep us from
- 11:42Speaker 2: reaching God the Father with our intercessory prayers. Think about
- 11:49Speaker 2: this for just a moment. A known language can certainly
- 11:55Speaker 2: be understood by someone else. The enemy is well versed
- 12:02Speaker 2: in the languages of this earth, but he does not
- 12:06Speaker 2: know the languages of other heavenly angels. He does not
- 12:14Speaker 2: know the language that the Holy Spirit can give you
- 12:19Speaker 2: and I. Because of that, we use this weapon in
- 12:25Speaker 2: a powerful means of spiritual warfare. Remember, of the elements
- 12:33Speaker 2: that we are shown, there are seven perfect elements of
- 12:39Speaker 2: God's whole armor, the last being the ability to pray
- 12:47Speaker 2: in the spirit. Now, this does not mean praying in
- 12:53Speaker 2: a known language. When we pray in the spirit, hung
- 13:00Speaker 2: that we speak is unknown to men and the enemy.
- 13:09Speaker 2: So what would you prefer to speak in a language
- 13:14Speaker 2: that could be interpreted and others benefit? Certainly, if that
- 13:19Speaker 2: is given to you by God, it will glorify Him
- 13:24Speaker 2: and it will bring others to a realization of Jesus
- 13:29Speaker 2: is Lord and alive today. In the other example as
- 13:37Speaker 2: a spiritual weapon, praying in the Spirit, which is referred
- 13:43Speaker 2: to in Ephesians chapter six, you will find that this
- 13:50Speaker 2: praying is not interpreted by the enemy. It is a
- 13:57Speaker 2: direct line of communication with the Holy Spirit. It is
- 14:02Speaker 2: the language that teaches us what we are to do
- 14:07Speaker 2: as we advance the Kingdom of God.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.

- 14:56Speaker 3: Wrap up today's message, Will you understand that the gifts
- 15:04Speaker 3: of the Holy Spirit are given to each one of the.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Believers as the most powerful means of being able to
- 15:17Speaker 2: do the works of ministry that the Holy Spirit himself
- 15:23Speaker 2: empowers us to do. Jesus said, greater works than these
- 15:32Speaker 2: will you do? Because I go to my Father John
- 15:39Speaker 2: fourteen twelve. Will you continue growing in the Lord Jesus,
- 15:48Speaker 2: and by the infilling and empowerment of the Holy Spirit,
- 15:54Speaker 2: will be able to be used in the nine specific
- 16:00Speaker 2: gifts and manifestations that will set others free and bring
- 16:06Speaker 2: glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. We want to be
- 16:12Speaker 2: used of God to bring glory to Him and the
- 16:17Speaker 2: Holy Spirit will help us achieve that for His glory.
- 16:24Speaker 2: And that is today's reflection on the Word.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
