Latest / Hutton & Withrow Show / Hutton & Withrow: “Don Julio” Spy Scandal Rocks Auburn-Tennessee Week | Hour 1
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Out of the gates on sport and state, it's Hutton
- 0:02Speaker 1: and Withrow. Glad you're with us as we are presented
- 0:05Speaker 1: by Hard Rock Bet. He's Chad Withrow. I'm Jonathan Hutton. Chad,
- 0:08Speaker 1: good to see you, man. Good morning. Good morning, Hutton.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Plenty of stories to dive into this morning. Yes. So
- 0:15Speaker 1: is he back? Is Stallions back in college football? I
- 0:21Speaker 1: hope so.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I mean, you know, we need a good spy scandal
- 0:25Speaker 2: in college football at any time.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Man.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Look, most of the shows I watch right now involve
- 0:29Speaker 2: spycraft in some way. Slow Horses is one that I'm
- 0:33Speaker 2: on right now. I love a good spy story. So
- 0:36Speaker 2: who doesn't love a spy story that involves Auburn football
- 0:40Speaker 2: and a current University of Tennessee student in a week
- 0:43Speaker 2: where Auburn and Tennessee just so happen to be playing,
- 0:46Speaker 2: and then this guy gets booked in a Lee County
- 0:48Speaker 2: jail for sharing Auburn football secrets.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Okay, so he's arrested following an internal hack and this
- 0:55Speaker 1: data breach. right, that's going on. And his alias is
- 0:59Speaker 1: Don Julio? Correct. Fantastic.
- 1:03Speaker 2: His name is David Rudolph Jinrath. He is 24 years old.
- 1:08Speaker 2: And the photo of this guy is spectacular. When you
- 1:12Speaker 2: see who the man is that pretends to be someone
- 1:15Speaker 2: named Don Julio as he's sending out emails. So instead
- 1:19Speaker 2: of using the leaked intelligence, rival programs reportedly flagged the
- 1:23Speaker 2: suspicious activity. And so you've got Don Julio, Jinrath, who's
- 1:27Speaker 2: a sports analytics student at Tennessee, just is Auburn's opponent
- 1:33Speaker 2: this week, dubbed by media observers as, quote, one of
- 1:37Speaker 2: the worst secret agents in college football history. To say
- 1:42Speaker 2: the least, I would say, just given the fact that
- 1:45Speaker 2: no one is paying attention to anything like this, given
- 1:49Speaker 2: the state of college football, you could get information everywhere.
- 1:54Speaker 2: It would be very difficult, I would think, to get
- 1:56Speaker 2: caught doing this because we haven't seen it that often.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And now we see it as Tennessee gets ready to
- 2:04Speaker 1: take on Auburn with one of their own that's a
- 2:08Speaker 1: secret spy internally.
- 2:10Speaker 2: So first off, I think it'd be very easy to
- 2:12Speaker 2: catch the person. You just look at the IP address
- 2:14Speaker 2: or wherever they're sending the emails. If you don't hide
- 2:16Speaker 2: it well enough, he's got some fake email account as
- 2:19Speaker 2: Don Julio.
- 2:20Speaker 1: It's probably pretty easy to.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Crack this case. Here are my questions around this. He
- 2:26Speaker 2: attended Tennessee before being arrested. He studied sport analytics and
- 2:33Speaker 2: applied artificial intelligence. These were majors that were not available
- 2:37Speaker 2: at my time at the University of Tennessee, I can
- 2:39Speaker 2: tell you that. As a sports management and business administration major,
- 2:42Speaker 2: we didn't have sports analytics, certainly didn't even know about
- 2:45Speaker 2: artificial intelligence, but applied artificial intelligence. The guy who studies
- 2:49Speaker 2: applied artificial intelligence said, is truly bad at artificial intelligence,
- 2:53Speaker 2: not being able to disguise his identification as he sends
- 2:56Speaker 2: out these emails to other programs. Some programs sent it
- 3:00Speaker 2: right back to Auburn. They just forwarded the emails on
- 3:03Speaker 2: to Auburn staff to show them that something was going
- 3:06Speaker 2: on or being sent. Apparently other programs that were asked
- 3:10Speaker 2: about this, they said, we just thought it was spam.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Like the way it was to us, like we didn't
- 3:15Speaker 2: really put anything into it. Who's the program that took
- 3:19Speaker 2: it seriously? is what I'd like to know. Who's the
- 3:22Speaker 2: program that's like, I'm going to hold this for myself
- 3:24Speaker 2: and see what's going on. The other thing in this
- 3:27Speaker 2: hunting is, it's not like this guy, Jenrath, Don Julio,
- 3:31Speaker 2: whatever you want to call him, his alias. It's not
- 3:33Speaker 2: like he's giving out state secrets of, we're going to
- 3:36Speaker 2: run this onside kick in this game, or we've worked
- 3:39Speaker 2: on this trick play. Here's the tell of when we're
- 3:42Speaker 2: going to run this trick play. It's not anything to
- 3:45Speaker 2: that level like a Connor Stallions would be doing stealing signs.
- 3:48Speaker 2: and knowing what they were going to do based on
- 3:50Speaker 2: the sign. It's not to that level. We're talking about
- 3:53Speaker 2: recruiting evaluations for running backs and special teams players. That's
- 3:57Speaker 2: what this guy did as a part-time analyst for Auburn football.
- 4:02Speaker 2: He was also only employed part-time from January to June.
- 4:08Speaker 2: What is the motivation here? Is he mad that he
- 4:11Speaker 2: got fired from his part-time.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Gig at Auburn?
- 4:13Speaker 2: And he decided to start blasting off emails about evaluations
- 4:17Speaker 2: of high.
- 4:17Speaker 1: School players that they're looking at. It looks like he's
- 4:21Speaker 1: just pissed off for greatness at Auburn, uh, sending out
- 4:24Speaker 1: stuff like Auburn's grading system, uh, no game plan stuff, but, uh, the,
- 4:30Speaker 1: it was so bad that the information that Auburn's competitors
- 4:33Speaker 1: received decided to turn him in rather than use it.
- 4:36Speaker 1: It was so obviously just blatantly, uh, wrong. Uh, Like
- 4:42Speaker 1: to the point where it's like, okay, this is whatever
- 4:45Speaker 1: you're giving us. Number one, is it going to help
- 4:46Speaker 1: us on a game week? Number two, we're not recruiting
- 4:49Speaker 1: Auburn anyway. And number three, Don Julio from a, there
- 4:54Speaker 1: he is. Don Julio. He does look like a guy
- 4:58Speaker 1: who should go by three names, Chad. He looks like
- 5:01Speaker 1: a guy pissed off at the world. Yes.
- 5:03Speaker 2: That would lose his part-time gig at Auburn. and decide,
- 5:08Speaker 2: you know what, I'm burning this place to the ground.
- 5:10Speaker 2: With what little info I'm privy to on the running
- 5:13Speaker 2: backs that we're recruiting out of Montgomery, Alabama, I'm going
- 5:16Speaker 2: to forward this to the entire conference and show what
- 5:19Speaker 2: Auburn thinks about this three-star running back that we're looking
- 5:22Speaker 2: at that no one else has an eye on right
- 5:23Speaker 2: now in the SEC. The information that he's sending, I'm
- 5:27Speaker 2: just thinking, who cares? All these programs have their own
- 5:30Speaker 2: evaluations of players that they're going after. It's just such
- 5:34Speaker 2: non-info info. That he's trying to share apparently. I haven't
- 5:38Speaker 2: seen the emails, but the way it's described and what
- 5:41Speaker 2: he did at Auburn, it's recruiting evaluations of Auburn. There's
- 5:45Speaker 2: not NIL sensitive info that's been put out there of
- 5:48Speaker 2: what they're paying players or any of that. That would
- 5:50Speaker 2: be more damaging if that was sent in a mass
- 5:53Speaker 2: email to everyone.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Than what this is.
- 5:56Speaker 2: So I don't understand the gain of anyone that would
- 5:59Speaker 2: even receive this information and use it. It's like, oh, okay,
- 6:03Speaker 2: they like this guy more than we do. Maybe we
- 6:04Speaker 2: should take another look at him. So then you just
- 6:06Speaker 2: start recruiting them also.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I just, who cares? Chad, he's also a former staffer.
- 6:11Speaker 1: They've had a brand new staff. So like the grading
- 6:13Speaker 1: system would be null and void, right? Like you're going
- 6:16Speaker 1: to have a brand new way of doing things based
- 6:20Speaker 1: on the new regime that's coming in and the new hires.
- 6:23Speaker 1: I mean, you can be pissed off that you're let go,
- 6:25Speaker 1: but as far as grading a player.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Well, he was there with Golish. That's what's so confusing.
- 6:31Speaker 2: He got there with Golish in January. So January to June,
- 6:36Speaker 2: his LinkedIn profile, which has since been removed from the service,
- 6:40Speaker 2: says that he worked in Auburn's football program as a
- 6:42Speaker 2: player personnel scouting assistant from January to June, helping evaluate
- 6:47Speaker 2: running backs and special teams. So he was there with Golish.
- 6:50Speaker 2: So this would be Golish's evaluation system. Like the layout,
- 6:54Speaker 2: the baseline of like, here's what we're targeting. It sounds
- 6:56Speaker 2: like a disgruntled former employee. Like, you know, he was,
- 6:59Speaker 2: I mean, can we flash the picture of the guy again?
- 7:02Speaker 2: One more time so we can see, Mr.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Jenrath.
- 7:05Speaker 2: This looks like a guy who would piss off Golish
- 7:08Speaker 2: or the running back coach or the boss because he
- 7:10Speaker 2: thinks he knows more than he does and was politely
- 7:13Speaker 2: told to leave the football program and then responded by
- 7:16Speaker 2: sending out all the information that he had dug up
- 7:19Speaker 2: to other programs. Maybe he was doing that also in
- 7:22Speaker 2: some weird attempt to get a job with another football
- 7:25Speaker 2: program and go to school there. He's 24 years old also,
- 7:29Speaker 2: so he's an older college student at this point.
- 7:32Speaker 1: He's from Franklin, Tennessee, right down the road from us.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out where this guy went to
- 7:36Speaker 1: high school. I've had no luck so far seeing where
- 7:39Speaker 1: he's from in middle Tennessee exactly. But it's a wild story, Hutton.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I love any type of espionage in sports like counter-stallions.
- 7:47Speaker 1: It's fun to discuss.
- 7:49Speaker 2: I don't know where I could easily see how Connor
- 7:52Speaker 2: Stallions and Michigan could gain an advantage from what they
- 7:55Speaker 2: were doing. I don't really know what advantage is gained
- 7:58Speaker 2: by a program that receives this email and says, we're
- 8:01Speaker 2: going to go all in on the Auburn emails and
- 8:03Speaker 2: look at all the different players they're recruiting and how
- 8:06Speaker 2: they evaluated them. Because every single one of these, they
- 8:09Speaker 2: have their own staffs. They evaluate players in their own way.
- 8:12Speaker 2: They know who these players are. And by the way,
- 8:15Speaker 2: if you wanted to see a player that was overlooked,
- 8:17Speaker 2: you find out immediately by the recruiting services who offers who.
- 8:21Speaker 2: So if Auburn offers someone no one knows about, there's
- 8:24Speaker 2: nothing to stop Tennessee or Alabama or Kentucky or anyone
- 8:28Speaker 2: else from looking into that player and watching their tape
- 8:30Speaker 2: on Huddle or somewhere else or going to their game.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I mean, everybody kind of knows everything to an extent.
- 8:37Speaker 2: The worst part about all this is is I think
- 8:40Speaker 2: that college sports paranoia is at an all-time high, especially
- 8:45Speaker 2: after the Connor Stallion stuff. So these programs and coaches
- 8:49Speaker 2: are so closed off, so shut down to everything because
- 8:53Speaker 2: they're so paranoid someone's spying on their practice or they're
- 8:56Speaker 2: going to say the wrong thing in a press availability
- 8:58Speaker 2: about what they're doing. or that they're going to get
- 9:00Speaker 2: some info they should do. This is only going to
- 9:03Speaker 2: add fuel to that fire.
- 9:05Speaker 1: This is the type of thing now that.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Coaches are going to be going to their IT department saying, hey,
- 9:10Speaker 2: are we locked up good? All of our information systems,
- 9:13Speaker 2: like do we need to evaluate? Do we need to
- 9:15Speaker 2: go on a mole hunt within our program to find
- 9:18Speaker 2: out who might do this? Should we do psych evals
- 9:21Speaker 2: for our recruiting analyst to make sure that they're not
- 9:24Speaker 2: capable of turning spy and double agent at some point?
- 9:28Speaker 1: That's the sad part about this.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I think we eventually now get less information as fans
- 9:34Speaker 2: or in the media because coaches across the country are
- 9:36Speaker 2: going to use this as a cautionary tale of what
- 9:39Speaker 2: this guy was trying to do.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Brooks Carter from The Next Route, he's in the chat.
- 9:42Speaker 1: He says, interesting add-on to this. From what we've been
- 9:45Speaker 1: told here in Birmingham, the kid was actually originally hired
- 9:48Speaker 1: as part of Hugh Freeze's staff and there was a holdover.
- 9:51Speaker 1: for Golish's staff. He was fired in June after he'd
- 9:53Speaker 1: called out of work sick, but then later spotted in
- 9:55Speaker 1: the student section at Auburn's Baseball Super Regional.
- 9:59Speaker 2: This is amazing this is the type of local reporting
- 10:03Speaker 2: that you can only get with like people locally that
- 10:05Speaker 2: know the situation well done by next round live and
- 10:08Speaker 2: Brooks Carter on that one digging that up and that
- 10:11Speaker 2: totally that totally tracks also the fact that Pastor Hugh
- 10:15Speaker 2: is in the middle of this in some way can
- 10:17Speaker 2: you see like Hugh Freeze text them Do the Lord's work, son.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Get that information out there. They're not going to be
- 10:25Speaker 2: better than us at Auburn with Golish. I see where
- 10:28Speaker 2: David Griffin, he nailed it. Dwight Schrute, looks like Dwight
- 10:31Speaker 2: Schrute's younger brother, this Don Julio character. Going back and
- 10:36Speaker 2: forth with the aliases is funny, too. Joey Freshwater, of course,
- 10:39Speaker 2: and others. Ron Mexico.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Ron Mexico is a great one. I wonder if we
- 10:44Speaker 1: could get, for NIL, can we get a Don Julio
- 10:47Speaker 1: Auburn jersey now? Is that possible? I think that's going
- 10:51Speaker 1: to be a bestseller. This is what we need Sporting
- 10:54Speaker 1: State to get in the merch business for. Clay's got
- 10:56Speaker 1: plenty on his plate right now. He probably doesn't need
- 10:58Speaker 1: to add to this. But any time a story like
- 11:00Speaker 1: this hits, you've got to be ready to pounce. on, hey,
- 11:03Speaker 1: here's the official Don Julio Auburn merch. Much like the
- 11:06Speaker 1: Nashville Balls, which they did a good job with XXXY.
- 11:09Speaker 2: We need XXXY-themed Don Julio jerseys. People think Julio in
- 11:15Speaker 2: the state of Alabama. They normally think Julio Jones in Alabama.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Now they're going to think about Don Julio and Auburn Hutton.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Julio! Julio! Don't forget A.J. Brown chanting Julio's name. Oh,
- 11:27Speaker 1: my gosh. Man, what a story.
- 11:29Speaker 2: And again, now coaches are just going to be– this
- 11:31Speaker 2: is going to be the aha moment for coaches of, see,
- 11:34Speaker 2: this is why we're paranoid.
- 11:35Speaker 1: This is why we worry about this stuff because it happens.
- 11:37Speaker 1: They're going to be paranoid about their own staff now
- 11:39Speaker 1: instead of the media.
- 11:42Speaker 2: But there are guys with info that would be way
- 11:44Speaker 2: more sensitive than what this guy is sharing. Oh, yeah.
- 11:46Speaker 1: That is my point.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Like somebody on that staff, if they really wanted to,
- 11:50Speaker 2: they could hook somebody else up. And that is something
- 11:53Speaker 2: that you watch certain performances– Like, you get late in
- 11:57Speaker 2: the year, and the year's disappointing, and it's like, man,
- 11:59Speaker 2: how is this team this bad in this game? I mean,
- 12:02Speaker 2: my mind wanders. Again, I watch all the spy shows
- 12:05Speaker 2: and everything else. I'm thinking, is someone on staff friends
- 12:07Speaker 2: with someone else on the other staff, and they're trying
- 12:09Speaker 2: to help them save their job, or they're trying to
- 12:12Speaker 2: help go against a coach they don't like? Because we
- 12:15Speaker 2: know staff share information about the other ones. I guarantee
- 12:18Speaker 2: you Ohio State staff was in touch with Jim Knowles
- 12:22Speaker 2: in Tennessee last And that's totally legal and everything else.
- 12:25Speaker 2: They were trying to help Tennessee eliminate Texas or help
- 12:28Speaker 2: eliminate Texas after losing to them. So you know Ohio
- 12:31Speaker 2: State and Tennessee staff communicated before Texas and Tennessee played,
- 12:35Speaker 2: especially defensively.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Absolutely. That happens with everybody. Let me go back to
- 12:40Speaker 1: the Michigan deal. It still amazes me, Chad, that with
- 12:43Speaker 1: all the ex-staffers, everything going on behind the scenes there
- 12:46Speaker 1: with the Wolverines, that only Connor Stallions really took the
- 12:50Speaker 1: fall for the sign stealing. Harbaugh was lying to the NCAA, right?
- 12:57Speaker 1: Like there are other coaches who were suspended, but it
- 13:01Speaker 1: was Connor Stallions who took the fall. And he's leaked
- 13:06Speaker 1: to that. Meanwhile, you've got the allegations and all these
- 13:10Speaker 1: other things going on with Harbaugh that he's not gonna
- 13:14Speaker 1: be able to coach in college football again, but he
- 13:17Speaker 1: also won a national title. Like I keep going back to,
- 13:21Speaker 1: No one rolled on him. That's crazy to me that
- 13:24Speaker 1: with everybody, guys like this, 24 years old, no one
- 13:29Speaker 1: said a word. That is just beyond believable. If you
- 13:34Speaker 1: would have told me that back then, that all of
- 13:36Speaker 1: this was going on and no one said a word,
- 13:40Speaker 1: that's crazy.
- 13:42Speaker 2: The lesson in all this, sadly, is not a good one.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Because Connor Stallions is better off, you could argue, right now,
- 13:50Speaker 2: even after facing all the blame. He's become basically a
- 13:53Speaker 2: college football voice, a media member, a name that people
- 13:57Speaker 2: will know forever. He, in a way, bettered himself from
- 14:01Speaker 2: this scandal. Jim Harbaugh gets a job in the NFL
- 14:04Speaker 2: right after this. I mean, the one person who's faced
- 14:07Speaker 2: real-life consequences, it seems, is Sharon Moore, for what was
- 14:10Speaker 2: going on with him at Michigan.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Everybody else fails upward. At the University of Michigan. They
- 14:17Speaker 1: all fall forward. And what's the lesson to this? Like, hey,
- 14:20Speaker 1: go ahead, try to cheat.
- 14:21Speaker 2: The risk is worth the reward right now if you're
- 14:24Speaker 2: Connor Stallions or anyone else.
- 14:26Speaker 1: That probably happened with Don Julio. He probably gave this
- 14:28Speaker 1: information out and received things back like, we've already got this, bro.
- 14:31Speaker 1: We're good.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I mean, this guy probably watched that Connor Stallions documentary
- 14:35Speaker 2: 50 times. He fell in love with Connor Stallions and
- 14:38Speaker 2: what he was doing. He's like, I could be the
- 14:40Speaker 2: next Connor Stallions. And this is a way to make
- 14:42Speaker 2: a name for myself in college football. I'm at Tennessee
- 14:45Speaker 2: on Saturday, and I'm looking around that field pregame, and
- 14:48Speaker 2: I marvel at how many humans make a college football
- 14:53Speaker 2: game day go for the program.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Just the program.
- 14:56Speaker 2: The amount of people that welcome you into the family gate,
- 14:59Speaker 2: the people on the sideline who seemingly aren't doing anything,
- 15:02Speaker 2: others who are filming the warm-up, others who are helping
- 15:04Speaker 2: with warm-ups specifically for defensive tackles, others who are off
- 15:08Speaker 2: to the side with the defensive backs doing stretches.
- 15:11Speaker 1: And warm-ups and everything.
- 15:12Speaker 3: The gear.
- 15:12Speaker 2: It is a full mobilization of an army of people
- 15:16Speaker 2: for a college football team. So how do you rise
- 15:19Speaker 2: in that environment? If that is your passion and you
- 15:21Speaker 2: want to be a riser in college football, how do
- 15:25Speaker 2: you do it?
- 15:26Speaker 1: I know who Connor Stallions is.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I know he's not coaching in college football right now,
- 15:30Speaker 2: but you make a name for yourself by any means necessary.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And there's probably someone out there who's like, I'm going
- 15:36Speaker 2: to do whatever I can. to help myself with other
- 15:38Speaker 2: programs and rise in that program. And if that is
- 15:41Speaker 2: me becoming a double agent and stealing secrets from my
- 15:44Speaker 2: current school to send to another one, then I'm going
- 15:47Speaker 2: to do it by all means necessary. I don't think
- 15:49Speaker 2: there's a good message in this whole story other than
- 15:52Speaker 2: it's also very funny that Don Julio was the alias
- 15:56Speaker 2: that this young guy chose.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Don Julio. Going back to our college days, thinking about
- 16:01Speaker 1: this chat, what our alias would be? just based on
- 16:05Speaker 1: what was around at the time. Afro Man would have
- 16:09Speaker 1: been mine because I saw him play at my frat
- 16:11Speaker 1: house back in 2002. I mean, who knows? Limp Bizkit,
- 16:17Speaker 1: Hutton Sends Things is Fred Durst is his alias back
- 16:21Speaker 1: in the day. West Borland. Coming up, the Vols are
- 16:27Speaker 1: going to be wearing their alternate uniforms this week. Thoughts
- 16:29Speaker 1: on that? Jared Curtis going wild. going to Athens where
- 16:33Speaker 1: he was committed for months, what, a couple of years maybe, Chad?
- 16:38Speaker 1: Since his sophomore year until he flipped to go to Vandy.
- 16:42Speaker 1: At least a year and a half. The five stars
- 16:44Speaker 1: going back as the quarterback of the Vanderbilt Commodores. Plus,
- 16:47Speaker 1: a bit later, Jason Foster of sportandstate.com, he's going to
- 16:50Speaker 1: join us. He's covering Major League Baseball's postseason. And there

- 18:34Speaker 2: Tilt yesterday, and I saw Ariel Epstein doing this live read.
- 18:38Speaker 2: And as she was doing the live read, she was
- 18:40Speaker 2: fending off some guy in their chat asking her out
- 18:43Speaker 2: on a date and talking about how she wasn't going
- 18:45Speaker 2: to date the guy in the chat the whole time.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I thought that was a great mix-up of talking about
- 18:50Speaker 2: Hard Rock Bet while also Telling someone to back off.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So great job, Ariel, on that. I was highly entertained.
- 18:56Speaker 1: That's a very unique way to ask someone out to
- 18:58Speaker 1: in the chat, right?
- 19:00Speaker 2: Well, and I was looking at the chat and he
- 19:03Speaker 2: was just like, he was like, he was a mongoloid
- 19:06Speaker 2: the way he was talking to her. Like he was monosyllabic.
- 19:09Speaker 2: He was saying things like date time. Let's date just
- 19:13Speaker 2: over and over. Like two, he could only type two
- 19:15Speaker 2: words at a time. That's all that his brain could process.
- 19:19Speaker 2: I mean, I saw three different things that just said
- 19:21Speaker 2: date time. Okay, let's go.
- 19:25Speaker 1: After that, I'm thinking, well, you know, shoot or shoot,
- 19:27Speaker 1: I guess. All of a sudden, around the corner, here
- 19:30Speaker 1: comes Chris Hansen. You joined the cookie? Have a seat
- 19:31Speaker 1: right over there. That's a movie I do want to see,
- 19:34Speaker 1: by the way. I saw Hutton, our guy, Tom Cruise,
- 19:36Speaker 1: this movie Digger. 41% Rotten Tomato Craig score. And people are.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Saying, like, very divided in terms of people are saying
- 19:45Speaker 2: it's confusing.
- 19:47Speaker 1: It's absurd.
- 19:48Speaker 2: They don't know what anybody's going for.
- 19:49Speaker 1: In the movie to brilliant movie.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Incredible performance by tom cruise everybody agrees tom cruise is
- 19:56Speaker 2: good in the role right so you wonder if this
- 20:00Speaker 2: is going to derail because the bad criticism of the
- 20:02Speaker 2: movie if it's going to derail his his oscar hype
- 20:05Speaker 2: how long around the role how long is the film
- 20:07Speaker 2: chat roughly i'll have to look it up we should
- 20:10Speaker 2: consider going to see this on Friday before our game.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Yes, let me see. Depending on how long it is.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Let me see the run time on this. And then
- 20:19Speaker 1: you give the full review on Monday. There it is.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Two hours and eight minutes.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Hey, for Oscar bait, that's a short movie these days.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Most of them are closer to three hours. So I'll
- 20:29Speaker 2: take two hours.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And eight minutes. Yeah, let's consider doing that. Chad, correct
- 20:34Speaker 1: me if I'm wrong. This is the week Tennessee's wearing
- 20:36Speaker 1: the helmets without the power tee. Is that right? Is
- 20:42Speaker 1: this the throwback deal with the big strike? I know
- 20:46Speaker 1: it's the gray uniforms.
- 20:49Speaker 2: It's the Neyland Legacy Smoky Gray Adidas uniforms. I'm looking
- 20:54Speaker 2: them up now. Guys, if we can find it, we
- 20:56Speaker 2: can flash it on the screen too. I think this
- 21:00Speaker 2: one does have a power T on it, but it's
- 21:03Speaker 2: the gray helmet.
- 21:04Speaker 1: No, it does not. Okay. From what I can see. Yeah,
- 21:07Speaker 1: you're right. This is the one that is just gray.
- 21:09Speaker 1: This is like the... They're paying homage to General Nealon. Yeah.
- 21:15Speaker 1: The 100-year anniversary, right, of 1926. And I said at
- 21:21Speaker 1: the time, whenever we were discussing this on the show,
- 21:23Speaker 1: I'm all for the alternate uniform idea, but I don't
- 21:28Speaker 1: like getting away from my main colors. Like when Middle
- 21:31Speaker 1: Tennessee goes into black uniforms, they're the Blue Raiders. I
- 21:35Speaker 1: don't understand why you go away from what has made
- 21:39Speaker 1: the brand the brand. I don't know why you would
- 21:42Speaker 1: take the power tee off the helmet. If you're going
- 21:44Speaker 1: to honor General Robert Nealon, I would put the tee
- 21:47Speaker 1: on the side of the helmet, Chad. That's just where
- 21:50Speaker 1: I stand on that. However, the gray uniforms look pretty cool,
- 21:56Speaker 1: and I like the details that they've added specifically to
- 22:00Speaker 1: pay homage to Nealon, not because it's like a flashy
- 22:04Speaker 1: hip thing to do or a Um, maybe it's in style.
- 22:08Speaker 1: It certainly looks like it's in style. Like I think
- 22:10Speaker 1: people are going to enjoy wearing the Jersey on, on Saturday.
- 22:13Speaker 1: My thing would be, uh, can we not do it
- 22:15Speaker 1: with orange, orange and white? That that's my, my only critique. Um,
- 22:20Speaker 1: I think it looks cool. They're going to look great
- 22:21Speaker 1: on the field. Um, I guess it's supposed to look
- 22:24Speaker 1: like an old school leather helmet. Yes. In a way. Um,
- 22:28Speaker 1: I would just put the power T on there. So find,
- 22:30Speaker 1: find a way to do that.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, they could have easily just put an
- 22:33Speaker 2: orange power T on the middle of this. Because it
- 22:35Speaker 2: almost looks like a T, but when you look at
- 22:37Speaker 2: a couple of angles of it, it looks like a
- 22:39Speaker 2: T on the side, but it's the mimic of the
- 22:42Speaker 2: leather strap on the.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Side, but it's orange. So it's like an orange.
- 22:45Speaker 2: It almost goes into a T because it's orange down
- 22:48Speaker 2: the middle of the helmet, too, on each side to.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Look like leather.
- 22:52Speaker 2: The one thing that I do like about this, it's
- 22:54Speaker 2: not all gray. So they're wearing white pants like they
- 22:57Speaker 2: would normally at home. And instead of the orange top,
- 23:00Speaker 2: usually with a smoky gray, they're solid gray, you know,
- 23:03Speaker 2: head to toe. This one, gray top, white pants, like
- 23:07Speaker 2: they would normally wear at home at Neyland Stadium. And
- 23:11Speaker 2: then the different helmet. The thing I love about the
- 23:13Speaker 2: helmet is it's got the general star for General Neyland,
- 23:16Speaker 2: a huge one on the back. White with silver trim
- 23:20Speaker 2: on the back of it and Neyland's signature logo. on
- 23:23Speaker 2: the base of the helmet is very, very cool.
- 23:25Speaker 1: I like the patch of Neyland, too, taking the knee.
- 23:29Speaker 1: I like the design of it.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I understand the thought process behind honoring a legend like
- 23:35Speaker 2: Robert Neyland. But I, like you, am a traditionalist. When
- 23:40Speaker 2: I watch Tennessee, I like to see Tennessee in orange
- 23:43Speaker 2: at home. If they're head-to-toe orange, fine. And I think
- 23:46Speaker 2: with uniforms, the response from any fan base, here's the helmet,
- 23:49Speaker 2: which is fantastic. Great job getting this, guys.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I love it.
- 23:53Speaker 2: That general star is awesome. I like the Neyland signature
- 23:56Speaker 2: on the back. But like any uniform with any fan base,
- 23:59Speaker 2: the response is going to be dictated by how Tennessee
- 24:01Speaker 2: plays in them. If Tennessee comes out and lays an
- 24:03Speaker 2: egg and loses it home to Auburn, the fan base
- 24:06Speaker 2: will want to throw these in a dumpster. and light
- 24:08Speaker 2: the dumpster on fire, never to be worn again. If
- 24:11Speaker 2: they come out and they win by 28 points and
- 24:14Speaker 2: look great and run all over Auburn, people are going
- 24:16Speaker 2: to be saying, when can we wear those great uniforms again?
- 24:19Speaker 2: Let's break those back out for another big game. Can
- 24:21Speaker 2: we wear those against LSU in November? That's what Tennessee
- 24:24Speaker 2: fans are going to be asking if Tennessee looks good
- 24:26Speaker 2: in these. Again, it's not about the look as much
- 24:29Speaker 2: as it is with a fan. If they play well
- 24:32Speaker 2: in them, they come out and they look like crap,
- 24:34Speaker 2: they're never going to want to see these uniforms again. That's–
- 24:36Speaker 2: And that's true with any fan base.
- 24:38Speaker 1: That's right. Cool on the shoulder pads as well, where
- 24:41Speaker 1: they have the outline of Shields-Watkins Field and of Neyland's
- 24:47Speaker 1: on the outside, right? Yes. As you enter the stadium.
- 24:50Speaker 1: That's cool. Of all the gates and stuff, I guess. Again,
- 24:53Speaker 1: I like the thought process into it. I just wouldn't
- 24:56Speaker 1: get away from the brand. And the brand is the
- 24:58Speaker 1: Power T. I don't know why you went away from
- 25:02Speaker 1: that if you're already going away from the orange jersey.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Well, and what did we have that was so successful
- 25:07Speaker 2: on Saturday with the Tennessee-Texas game?
- 25:09Speaker 1: Brand awareness. Those are two brands.
- 25:12Speaker 2: Texas may be the most powerful college sports brand in America,
- 25:16Speaker 2: or certainly one of the three to five.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Sure.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Tennessee, I'm not going to say in the three to
- 25:21Speaker 2: five range, but a very powerful college sports brand.
- 25:23Speaker 1: On the field. You know it when you see it.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Texas in their traditional all-white road uniforms with the burnt
- 25:31Speaker 2: orange longhorn on the helmet. Tennessee, orange jersey, white football pants,
- 25:36Speaker 2: white helmet with a power tee on it. That led
- 25:39Speaker 2: to close to 10 million people watching that game. That
- 25:42Speaker 2: was the most watched noon game on ABC or ESPN
- 25:45Speaker 2: in over.
- 25:46Speaker 1: A decade, was Saturday between Tennessee and Texas. Those were
- 25:50Speaker 1: those ratings.
- 25:51Speaker 2: This nine-game conference schedule, for the SEC is bonkers for
- 25:56Speaker 2: ESPN and ABC. I mean, the choices they have each
- 25:59Speaker 2: week of where to put games and the falling out
- 26:03Speaker 2: of favor of that 2.30 time slot. 2.30 Central was
- 26:06Speaker 2: we grew up with that being the game of the week. Boy,
- 26:09Speaker 2: our team might be on the game of the week
- 26:11Speaker 2: this week on CBS. Uncle Vern. 3.30 Eastern, 2.30 Central.
- 26:15Speaker 2: It always started there and it trickled around it. The
- 26:18Speaker 2: way ESPN and ABC, they're doing it, they're doing something
- 26:21Speaker 2: to counter big noon programming with that game. The 2.30
- 26:25Speaker 2: time slot is the one that's kind of falling away
- 26:27Speaker 2: because it's either you're at 11 a.m. Central or at
- 26:31Speaker 2: 6.15 Central at night, and that's usually the Fowler or
- 26:33Speaker 2: Herbstreet game of the.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Week on ABC.
- 26:36Speaker 2: But those are the two most coveted time slots now,
- 26:39Speaker 2: I think, for everybody in the SEC. But how about
- 26:42Speaker 2: that number, you know, almost reaching $ 10 million, and having
- 26:45Speaker 2: more viewers than any other game in a decade for
- 26:48Speaker 2: ABC ESPN.
- 26:49Speaker 1: What would that pull at night? That's a great.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Question because the other night games we've seen this year
- 26:56Speaker 2: have been some of the highest rated of the entire year.
- 26:59Speaker 2: The only games that Tennessee, Texas at noon is not
- 27:02Speaker 2: going to beat is Ohio State, Michigan, who trumps that
- 27:05Speaker 2: number every year.
- 27:06Speaker 1: It's always at noon on Fox. Just a quick Google search.
- 27:09Speaker 1: The peak viewership for LSU Ole Miss was 14 million.
- 27:14Speaker 1: So bigger numbers. And the average viewership was 11. It
- 27:18Speaker 1: averaged 11.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I don't think Tennessee and Texas reached those numbers that
- 27:24Speaker 2: LSU Ole Miss did because of the interest around Lane
- 27:27Speaker 2: and the amount of people that pulled in. But it
- 27:29Speaker 2: gets close. I mean, I think it goes north of
- 27:31Speaker 2: 10 million for that if it's at night. I totally agree.
- 27:35Speaker 2: And the Texas-Arch-Tennessee angle certainly brings it back. Look, and
- 27:41Speaker 2: it's just a good football game. It's a close football
- 27:43Speaker 2: game late. Everybody's social media is going to tell you
- 27:46Speaker 2: to tune in to that. I want to see Jared
- 27:50Speaker 2: Curtis in a tight window ball game in a game
- 27:54Speaker 2: where everyone's watching. That would be the situation this week.
- 28:00Speaker 2: I don't, I'm not expecting it as Vanderbilt travels to Georgia,
- 28:04Speaker 2: but man, what a storyline this could set up to be.
- 28:07Speaker 2: If the team that he was committed to Chad, you
- 28:09Speaker 2: look this up 13 total months, Between 13 and 14 months.
- 28:14Speaker 2: So he was, Jared Curtis committed to Georgia from March
- 28:16Speaker 2: of 2024 until late October 2024.
- 28:20Speaker 1: He decommitted.
- 28:21Speaker 2: So he was decommitted from October 17th, 2024 to May 5th, 2025.
- 28:27Speaker 2: This is when all the rumors about the car that
- 28:28Speaker 2: he was driving around.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Yes. Nashville Christians Campus started.
- 28:31Speaker 2: So May going into his senior year of high school,
- 28:35Speaker 2: he recommitted to Georgia from May 5th to December 2nd,
- 28:40Speaker 2: and on December 2nd, he pulled the last second flip
- 28:43Speaker 2: and signs with Vandy on December 2nd, 2025.
- 28:46Speaker 1: He was never committed to Vandy for any amount of time.
- 28:48Speaker 1: He just signed with her. No, he just signed there.
- 28:50Speaker 1: He just flipped, but it was over a year that
- 28:53Speaker 1: he was committed to Georgia. It was a torch-red Chevy
- 28:57Speaker 1: Corvette Stingray with a black roof, black wheels, and rear wing.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Price estimated value around $ 88, 000. for what that's worth. He
- 29:09Speaker 1: said it was all because of his NIL earnings in
- 29:12Speaker 1: high school. Sure. Yeah. Does he still have that car?
- 29:15Speaker 1: Because my guess is he was forced to return it
- 29:18Speaker 1: to Georgia upon signing with Vandy. Or maybe Vandy picked
- 29:20Speaker 1: up the payments on it. I don't know. That's a
- 29:22Speaker 1: great question. I don't know. But I never physically saw
- 29:27Speaker 1: him driving around in this new car. I just remember
- 29:30Speaker 1: asking Diego Pavia about it. And I remember Pavia just saying,
- 29:34Speaker 1: I've got a better one. I've got a better car.
- 29:36Speaker 2: And this is... I don't think it's going to be pretty.
- 29:40Speaker 2: there are 24 and a half for a reason but
- 29:43Speaker 2: this to me is Jared Curtis's Faison Brandon moment from
- 29:47Speaker 2: this past week Faison Brandon had his first intermingling with
- 29:52Speaker 2: a dominant five-star led defensive defense of Texas right.
- 29:57Speaker 1: And we saw how that went. It was not overly productive.
- 30:00Speaker 2: The difference is Faison Brandon did not turn the ball
- 30:02Speaker 2: over because he is risk-averse right now at.
- 30:04Speaker 1: This point in his career. I think he needs to
- 30:06Speaker 1: let it rip more.
- 30:07Speaker 2: I think Jared Curtis probably needs to let it rip
- 30:08Speaker 2: less from what we've seen so far this year. So
- 30:12Speaker 2: that could be a recipe for disaster. Young quarterback trying
- 30:16Speaker 2: to fit into tight spaces, trying to make too much happen, fumbles,
- 30:21Speaker 2: you lead to interception, pick sixes. That's where this game
- 30:23Speaker 2: gets really ugly. If Vanderbilt can't take care of the
- 30:26Speaker 2: football with a freshman quarterback. But his talent is undeniable.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Well, let's also remember, if he ends up just staying
- 30:32Speaker 1: with the Georgia commitment, he's backing up Gunnar Stockton right now.
- 30:36Speaker 1: He's not playing in his freshman year. In this case,
- 30:40Speaker 1: he is, much like the situation at Tennessee, where he's
- 30:45Speaker 1: getting the true freshman reps. He didn't start the season,
- 30:48Speaker 1: but he was playing. Now he's full go. He is
- 30:51Speaker 1: their QB. And at some point, things click. But it's
- 30:55Speaker 1: not this week. There's just too many other questions around
- 30:58Speaker 1: him for me to just say, you know, this is
- 31:01Speaker 1: the week where things just get going. 24 and a half,
- 31:04Speaker 1: I think, Chad, is what it was yesterday. I won't
- 31:07Speaker 1: touch that if I'm rooting for Vandy. I don't look
- 31:10Speaker 1: that way at all thinking they cover that line. I
- 31:13Speaker 1: don't either.
- 31:14Speaker 2: If I'm playing and I'm playing Georgia to cover that line.
- 31:17Speaker 2: These are two November teams and November storylines to me.
- 31:21Speaker 2: When Tennessee and Vandy meet at the end of the year,
- 31:22Speaker 2: let's see how those guys look. after running through a
- 31:25Speaker 2: gauntlet of eight SEC games at that point. They will
- 31:28Speaker 2: play each other in their ninth Southeastern Conference game, respectively,
- 31:32Speaker 2: for both of them being the starter.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Let's see how they look through this.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Gauntlet of games coming up and how many conference games
- 31:39Speaker 2: they have, if they're healthy at the end of the year,
- 31:42Speaker 2: what the team's records look like, all those things. Greg
- 31:46Speaker 2: McIlroy said it, and I think he's right. Again, I
- 31:50Speaker 2: think Vandy fans understood it going in. I think Tennessee
- 31:53Speaker 2: fans are going to have to adjust to.
- 31:54Speaker 1: It a little bit.
- 31:55Speaker 2: And look, I look at Tennessee's schedule. It's not as
- 31:58Speaker 2: daunting as some others in the conference. There's not a
- 32:01Speaker 2: single game I look at and say, Tennessee absolutely.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Cannot win this game.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Now, there's also not a single game I look at
- 32:08Speaker 2: and say, Tennessee absolutely with 100% certainty will win this game.
- 32:12Speaker 2: There's not one of those games on the schedule either.
- 32:14Speaker 2: So there's plenty of opportunities for both teams. But it's
- 32:18Speaker 2: about stacking reps together. getting more experience, being a little
- 32:23Speaker 2: bit more comfortable, throwing the football. My goodness, I've been
- 32:26Speaker 2: flooded with Faison Brandon still photos of the All-22 where
- 32:31Speaker 2: he's got a guy open and he's looking right at
- 32:34Speaker 2: him and it's like, you've got to throw it. And
- 32:36Speaker 2: that was the moment in the game that we saw
- 32:38Speaker 2: where he's pump faking and taking off and running or
- 32:40Speaker 2: getting hit and sacked because he's not releasing it at
- 32:43Speaker 2: the moment someone's breaking open, trying to wait on them
- 32:46Speaker 2: to get wide open. Not going to happen anymore. It
- 32:49Speaker 2: certainly didn't happen against Texas. Probably not going to happen
- 32:51Speaker 2: against Auburn. Not going to happen against many SEC teams,
- 32:54Speaker 2: so you've got to have that confidence to do it.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Jared Curtis lacks no confidence.
- 33:00Speaker 2: He's going to let it fly, but I think that
- 33:02Speaker 2: that could also get him in trouble against a defense
- 33:04Speaker 2: like Georgia, and we're probably going to see that this week.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Vanderbilt is going to upset one of these teams along
- 33:09Speaker 1: the way. I agree. Because they've got a great coaching staff.
- 33:13Speaker 1: They have a great defensive-minded coaching staff as well. Those
- 33:17Speaker 1: are the type of games you take deep into the season–
- 33:20Speaker 1: and then you have a freshman quarterback make a play.
- 33:23Speaker 1: There will be something along the way that everyone's like, well, Vandy.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Vandy did what? That's going to happen. I don't know when.
- 33:31Speaker 1: It's not this week. I'm not saying it's this week,
- 33:34Speaker 1: but it will happen as we get into October, November. Chad,
- 33:38Speaker 1: is South Carolina one of those teams? We need to
- 33:41Speaker 1: discuss Shane Beamer, and he's pulling the reverse AI that's
- 33:44Speaker 1: straight ahead here on Hutton & Withrow. This is Hunter
- 33:47Speaker 1: Withrow presented by Hard Rock Bet. They're a perfect 10,
- 33:50Speaker 1: so is Perfect 10 Mortgage. The name says it all.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Apply in 10 minutes, close in 10 days. That's the
- 33:55Speaker 1: whole idea here. A mortgage that's simple, fast, and fair.
- 33:57Speaker 1: 10 minutes start to finish right from your phone. No
- 33:59Speaker 1: stack of paperwork and no sitting across a desk from
- 34:01Speaker 1: a banker who talks down to you.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Date the rate, marry the house, throw that up on
- 34:05Speaker 2: a t-shirt, do whatever you need to remember it. If
- 34:08Speaker 2: you're juggling credit card debt, stop with it right now.
- 34:10Speaker 2: If you're buying new construction, ask about the Builder Program.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Builder funded rate buy downs that can get you a
- 34:15Speaker 2: rate the bank can't even print.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Date the rate. Marry the house.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Get the house you want now. Refinance and rates come down.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Straight talk on what you actually qualify for. Built for
- 34:23Speaker 2: real people, not paperwork. Perfect10Mortgage. com or call them at 855-789-1010.
- 34:29Speaker 2: That's Perfect10Mortgage. com. Perfect 10 Mortgage is an equal housing lender.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Perfect 10 Mortgage is a DBA or network funding LP.
- 34:35Speaker 2: NMLS number 2297. Equal housing lender.
- 34:37Speaker 1: All borrowers must qualify. This advertisement is not a promise
- 34:40Speaker 1: to make a loan. Well, Shea Beamer's not afraid to
- 34:44Speaker 1: sit and look directly at the camera and say uh
- 34:47Speaker 1: hey we we know that we've got to be better
- 34:50Speaker 1: i know that i'm on the hot seat i know
- 34:52Speaker 1: that the pressure's on and i know that this team
- 34:54Speaker 1: can be better than what we're showing on the field
- 34:56Speaker 1: chad that didn't stop him from suspending one of his
- 34:58Speaker 1: better players.
- 34:59Speaker 2: That's right, and I thought it showed some balls to
- 35:02Speaker 2: do that because he's a very talented guy who's going
- 35:04Speaker 2: to be likely a high-level NFL draft pick, but he
- 35:08Speaker 2: behaved like an idiot on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, multiple
- 35:13Speaker 2: times punching an opposing player, disrespecting coaches left and right.
- 35:17Speaker 2: By the way, the league office came back and said
- 35:19Speaker 2: he suspended for one game, and then Shane Beamer decided
- 35:22Speaker 2: to suspend him indefinitely. And he's going to have to
- 35:24Speaker 2: earn his way back on the team. And when Shane
- 35:26Speaker 2: Beamer was asked about who's going to be making the
- 35:29Speaker 2: decision on Dylan Stewart and how many different cooks were
- 35:33Speaker 2: in the kitchen, here's what Beamer had to say.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Shane, what determines when or if Dylan will return to
- 35:40Speaker 1: the program?
- 35:40Speaker 4: Me.
- 35:47Speaker 1: I love that. As he takes the swig of water,
- 35:49Speaker 1: is that the question? Me. He was waiting on it.
- 35:52Speaker 1: What or who determines when he's going to be allowed
- 35:54Speaker 1: to come back on the team? Me. That's terrific.
- 35:58Speaker 2: What's also terrific is Shane Beamer going reverse Allen Iverson
- 36:02Speaker 2: because Allen Iverson, as we know famously, did not value
- 36:05Speaker 2: practice and didn't want to talk about practice in a
- 36:07Speaker 2: press conference.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Shane Beamer, quite the opposite.
- 36:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the question. People get tired of hearing about
- 36:14Speaker 4: the wrong thing. Well, guess what? We had a hell
- 36:15Speaker 4: of a practice today. We had a hell of a practice.
- 36:19Speaker 1: You know what?
- 36:19Speaker 4: So you get tired of hearing that, I'm sorry. You're
- 36:22Speaker 4: going to keep hearing it, but we got some freaking
- 36:23Speaker 4: awesome young men that went out there today, practiced their
- 36:27Speaker 4: butts off with a ton of energy, and they hurt too.
- 36:34Speaker 1: There you have it. They hurt too. He could say
- 36:37Speaker 1: that and get away with that once or twice. But
- 36:40Speaker 1: now that you've started to lose some games in the season, Chad,
- 36:43Speaker 1: you can't just point to practice. You can't point to
- 36:45Speaker 1: the reps that no one watches or sees or is
- 36:49Speaker 1: allowed to even film and show to fans. And he
- 36:53Speaker 1: knows that. But before I go off on the tangent
- 36:56Speaker 1: on that, I want to give him props because what
- 36:58Speaker 1: he's doing with Stewart is something that we wouldn't see
- 37:01Speaker 1: from Kirby Smart. We wouldn't see that at Georgia. We
- 37:04Speaker 1: wouldn't see that at Alabama. We haven't. Maybe we will
- 37:08Speaker 1: in the future, but quite frankly, there have been multiple
- 37:13Speaker 1: issues with those programs, and we haven't seen anything quite
- 37:17Speaker 1: like this, where you've got a job on the line
- 37:20Speaker 1: and you're going to suspend one of your top players.
- 37:23Speaker 1: He's also giving credit to... I get the sense that
- 37:28Speaker 1: his players are still bought in, and he's getting rid
- 37:30Speaker 1: of anyone that even hesitates to bring some of the
- 37:35Speaker 1: negative energy into the locker room because once that happens,
- 37:39Speaker 1: he's done.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I really like South Carolina this weekend because of
- 37:45Speaker 2: Beamer this week and the way he's handled it. I mean,
- 37:48Speaker 2: without Dylan Stewart even, they're at home against Kentucky. I
- 37:52Speaker 2: just have a feeling they respond. I don't think this
- 37:55Speaker 2: season is going to be great for Beamer. I'm not
- 37:58Speaker 2: sitting here saying he's definitely done or anything like that.
- 38:01Speaker 2: It certainly looks like things could be falling apart. But
- 38:06Speaker 2: I've got a feeling, call it a gut feeling about
- 38:08Speaker 2: what I'm seeing with him and how he's handled it
- 38:10Speaker 2: and how he talks about his team. He still has
- 38:12Speaker 2: their back. He's still propping them up. So we have
- 38:15Speaker 2: a lot of awesome young guys on this team. They
- 38:17Speaker 2: are getting after it. We had great energy at practice.
- 38:20Speaker 2: You know, we're going to go about our business and
- 38:22Speaker 2: they hurt too when we don't play well. You know,
- 38:24Speaker 2: they hurt more than you do. They're a slight favorite
- 38:27Speaker 2: at home against Kentucky. Kentucky's ranked 24th, by the way,
- 38:29Speaker 2: right now.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Which is still– I have to wrap my head around that.
- 38:32Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 38:33Speaker 2: After seeing them give up 38 or whatever it was
- 38:35Speaker 2: on answer against Alabama and then win at A & M. But, yeah,
- 38:40Speaker 2: I love– I like South Carolina this week against Kentucky
- 38:45Speaker 2: as a slight favorite. But, Hutton, if they don't win
- 38:47Speaker 2: that game, I mean, this could fall apart quickly. They're
- 38:50Speaker 2: at Florida. Then they play Tennessee. They're at Oklahoma. They've
- 38:54Speaker 2: got A & M. They still have Georgia left in
- 38:56Speaker 2: the schedule. They still end the season with Clemson. this
- 38:59Speaker 2: is where the wheels could fall off is this weekend.
- 39:01Speaker 1: If they can't get that win at home. So right
- 39:04Speaker 1: now it remains the same. It's two and a half.
- 39:06Speaker 1: So that line has not moved since yesterday when we
- 39:08Speaker 1: previewed this game, uh, South Carolina favored, uh, by two
- 39:13Speaker 1: and a half. I I'm surprised by that. Quite frankly. Um, I,
- 39:16Speaker 1: if I, if I were guessing this line, I would
- 39:19Speaker 1: say Kentucky favored by one and a half, something like that,
- 39:22Speaker 1: just based on how the season has gone and what
- 39:24Speaker 1: we've seen Kentucky do. over 153 that's a little high
- 39:29Speaker 1: too I think just considering we haven't seen the offensive
- 39:32Speaker 1: firepower from South Carolina so to speak it's.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Just interesting in that how much do AP polls matter
- 39:39Speaker 2: how much does it matter at all I mean we
- 39:42Speaker 2: can talk all we want about South Carolina being this
- 39:43Speaker 2: point they're a favorite over a top 25 team yeah
- 39:45Speaker 2: this weekend so I mean all is not lost That's
- 39:49Speaker 2: Vegas who has no partiality one way or the other
- 39:53Speaker 2: about any of these teams. They're telling you, everybody, hey,
- 39:57Speaker 2: Lenora Sellers is still on this team. They still have talent.
- 39:59Speaker 2: They're at home. South Carolina is two and a half
- 40:02Speaker 2: points better at home than Kentucky. This is just a
- 40:05Speaker 2: critical game. There's no way around it. You've got to
- 40:08Speaker 2: have this one.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Win this game. You can start to sell. We still believe.
- 40:11Speaker 2: We haven't given up. We had two tough weeks. We're
- 40:14Speaker 2: going to be fine in the long run. And it's
- 40:17Speaker 2: like they got killed by Mississippi State, who looks to
- 40:19Speaker 2: be pretty good. They lost by a touchdown, you know,
- 40:21Speaker 2: at home. So this is huge for Shane.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Beamer in Kentucky. It's huge for Beamer if.
- 40:26Speaker 2: He's going to still be coaching at the end of
- 40:28Speaker 2: the year to take care of business and win at
- 40:30Speaker 2: home against the Cats.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Yep, totally agree. A primary complaint right around the corner.
- 40:37Speaker 1: We air our top grievance of the week next here
- 40:39Speaker 1: on Hutton and Withrow. It is Hutton and Withrow presented
- 40:43Speaker 1: by Hard Rock Bet. Hardrock.bet.com is where you can go
- 40:46Speaker 1: to download the app and take advantage of a great offer.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Also great is Clay Travis Law. Accidents don't wait for
- 40:52Speaker 1: good timing. One bad moment, a wreck, a fall, a
- 40:54Speaker 1: doctor who wasn't paying attention, and suddenly you're fighting an
- 40:56Speaker 1: insurance company that does this every single day. And that's
- 40:59Speaker 1: why Clay started Clay Travis Law. He's a Vanderbilt Law grad.
- 41:02Speaker 1: He built a firm around the idea that people deserve
- 41:05Speaker 1: someone willing to pay attention, ask the hard questions, and
- 41:07Speaker 1: push back when things don't add up. They do that
- 41:10Speaker 1: with experienced trial attorneys who bring the fight to corporations
- 41:12Speaker 1: and insurers based in Nashville and trusted across the country.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Car and truck wrecks, rideshare accidents, medical malpractice, premises liability,
- 41:20Speaker 2: product liability. If you were wrong, they want to hear
- 41:22Speaker 2: about it.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Here's what they promise. Honesty.
- 41:25Speaker 2: They don't sugarcoat your case. You'll hear what it's actually worth,
- 41:27Speaker 2: not what you want to hear. Case evaluation is free,
- 41:30Speaker 2: no charge, no pressure, no hassle. Just tell them your story.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Go to claytravislaw.com or call them at 877-222-7000. 4444. That's claytravislaw.com.
- 41:40Speaker 2: No case is too big or too small. Gentlemen, I
- 41:45Speaker 2: say gentlemen because Withrow's here. Also, JT will join us.
- 41:48Speaker 2: It is time for primary complaint. Guys, my top.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Grievance of the week, my primary complaint this week, it
- 41:55Speaker 1: stems off of what JT was complaining about last week,
- 41:58Speaker 1: and I saved it. The assumption that we all want
- 42:02Speaker 1: to tip before any service is rendered, If you go
- 42:07Speaker 1: anywhere now, you go ahead and you give your tip
- 42:10Speaker 1: ahead of time before you even get your meal, before
- 42:13Speaker 1: anything is done that is anywhere near worthy of extra currency.
- 42:22Speaker 1: I don't understand why the expectation is to tip ahead
- 42:25Speaker 1: of time. You do this with Uber, Uber Eats, anything delivery,
- 42:29Speaker 1: you're tipping ahead of time, even though they may not
- 42:32Speaker 1: be on time, even though your order may be wrong.
- 42:35Speaker 1: You've already tipped. prior to even knowing who was delivering
- 42:38Speaker 1: your order. It's my primary complaint.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's tipping culture. That's one for every week. By
- 42:45Speaker 2: the way, hit us up in the YouTube chat if
- 42:47Speaker 2: you've got a primary complaint for you. We'll submit some
- 42:49Speaker 2: from there also.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:51Speaker 2: I have some visual evidence for my primary complaint this week.
- 42:55Speaker 1: And we'll get to that here momentarily. Okay. Went to
- 42:59Speaker 1: a restaurant.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Last night, Angie and I, a very late celebration of
- 43:04Speaker 2: our 17th anniversary because we've had kid activities and I've
- 43:08Speaker 2: been traveling on the weekends with college football and everything else,
- 43:12Speaker 2: but went to a nice steakhouse for dinner. When you
- 43:17Speaker 2: go to a restaurant, it doesn't have to be a
- 43:18Speaker 2: nice steakhouse where you're spending a lot of money. It
- 43:21Speaker 2: can be any type of restaurant. You expect certain things
- 43:24Speaker 2: to be functional and be there, right? Like the plates
- 43:27Speaker 2: that aren't cracked.
- 43:28Speaker 1: A fork.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Silverware and forks that aren't bent or that have all
- 43:33Speaker 2: of the prongs on the fork. Spoons that are functional.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Nice cloth napkins.
- 43:38Speaker 1: That are there and not dirty. A clean table. Yeah,
- 43:41Speaker 1: you know, the bare minimum, right?
- 43:43Speaker 2: Like the things that you need to have a fully
- 43:45Speaker 2: functioning restaurant. Something else you need at a fully functioning
- 43:49Speaker 2: restaurant of any kind. A functional pen.
- 43:52Speaker 1: That works. And that writes.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Here is the visual evidence of what I'm talking about.
- 43:57Speaker 2: When you hand me a pin, and this happens far
- 44:00Speaker 2: too often, far too often does this happen.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Pins don't work. You're a server. Wow.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Your job is to serve and to have a pin.
- 44:11Speaker 2: And you don't need to go through 17 different pins
- 44:14Speaker 2: to find one that works. If you hand me one,
- 44:16Speaker 2: the assumption is it works. When you hand me one
- 44:18Speaker 2: that it doesn't even click into place... and I can't
- 44:21Speaker 2: find you to get another one, we're forced to have
- 44:24Speaker 2: my wife pull a MacGyver on a pen, completely deconstruct
- 44:28Speaker 2: it at the table, take it out this way, and
- 44:31Speaker 2: then use the little bitty part where the pen actually
- 44:33Speaker 2: works to get it out. And then to put the
- 44:35Speaker 2: pen back together to hand to you when we're done,
- 44:38Speaker 2: to sign a bill, to leave you a what?
- 44:41Speaker 1: Tip. To leave you a tip on a pen that
- 44:44Speaker 1: doesn't work. Have a pen that works. This is a
- 44:47Speaker 1: message for servers everywhere.
- 44:49Speaker 2: And if you don't or you think that maybe one isn't,
- 44:52Speaker 2: have multiple ones there ready and make sure it works
- 44:55Speaker 2: before you walk away and I don't see you. Because
- 44:58Speaker 2: I do not want to get up and come find
- 45:00Speaker 2: you for a pen so I can then sit there
- 45:02Speaker 2: and write an exorbitant amount of money that I'm going to.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Tip you with. This is my primary complaint. Well said.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Well said. JT.
- 45:11Speaker 3: I feel like kind of going in a circle around
- 45:14Speaker 3: food here, but this is both inside and outside. I'll
- 45:18Speaker 3: start outside. You pull up at a drive-thru and they say,
- 45:22Speaker 3: hey there, are you using the mobile app today? Except
- 45:25Speaker 3: it's automated, it's AI. And I say, no, I'm not.
- 45:28Speaker 3: And they say, okay, would you like to buy this?
- 45:32Speaker 3: And I say, no, I would like to buy the
- 45:34Speaker 3: 10-piece nuggets. I'm sorry, did you say you would like
- 45:37Speaker 3: to buy a hamburger? No, I would like to buy
- 45:40Speaker 3: the 10-piece nugget. I've realized that This is why we're
- 45:44Speaker 3: taking 25 minutes in a drive-thru now because half of the.
- 45:47Speaker 1: Stuff is AI.
- 45:48Speaker 3: And then eventually you will get a human on there
- 45:51Speaker 3: who's beyond frustrated because they've been listening for the last
- 45:54Speaker 3: 90 seconds too. Do you try to talk to a
- 45:56Speaker 3: computer that can't understand what the hell you're trying to order?
- 46:00Speaker 3: And then lastly, is that all you would like?
- 46:02Speaker 1: That's it. Okay. Would you like to buy a Frosty? No, no,
- 46:07Speaker 1: we just said we were done here. Thank you.
- 46:09Speaker 3: But even worse, let's now go inside to one of
- 46:12Speaker 3: these fine establishments and see three people standing behind the
- 46:16Speaker 3: counter doing nothing, watching you try.
- 46:18Speaker 1: To order at a kiosk.
- 46:20Speaker 3: You know how damn difficult it is to try to
- 46:22Speaker 3: tell Taco Bell that you want a taco with just
- 46:26Speaker 3: meat and cheese for your picky nine-year-old? And oh, then
- 46:29Speaker 3: we need to add some sour cream to something else.
- 46:31Speaker 3: I mean, 15 minutes later, It's so frustrating. I just
- 46:35Speaker 3: want a real human to say, hey, welcome. What can
- 46:38Speaker 3: I get you? Okay, that's going to be $ 14.
- 46:42Speaker 1: 52. Thank you.
- 46:43Speaker 3: Just this AI generated and kiosk inside restaurants making our
- 46:49Speaker 3: life even tougher is my primary complaint.
- 46:52Speaker 1: I think they intentionally make it difficult to find what
- 46:55Speaker 1: you want in order for you to see more things
- 46:58Speaker 1: and click on things you don't actually want when you
- 47:00Speaker 1: walk up, but then your mind tells you you want it.
- 47:03Speaker 1: like putting the milk in the back of a grocery
- 47:05Speaker 1: store so you have to walk all the way through
- 47:06Speaker 1: all of the items. Because AI is smarter than this.
- 47:10Speaker 1: If I want to voice something and say, I want
- 47:14Speaker 1: extra sauce to go with my Arby's today, it's going
- 47:17Speaker 1: to be able to read my voice and tell me
- 47:19Speaker 1: exactly what I just said. Instead, it's nearly damn impossible
- 47:24Speaker 1: to hit one, two, three extra packs of Arby's sauce
- 47:28Speaker 1: if you wanted it on the app itself. Because you
- 47:31Speaker 1: have to dig for it to find exactly where the
- 47:34Speaker 1: extra condiments are. I'm with you, JT. It's stupid. And
- 47:37Speaker 1: if they had someone there working, they would get it wrong, too.
- 47:41Speaker 3: And typically, the kiosk, there's three or four of them.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Usually only one of them works.
- 47:45Speaker 3: And then you've got some idiot like me in front
- 47:47Speaker 3: of you who's been there for six minutes trying to
- 47:49Speaker 3: figure out how to work the damn thing. I just
- 47:51Speaker 3: don't understand how it benefits anybody. But it's very frustrating.
- 47:56Speaker 2: And you hit on something, JT, the kids of it all.
- 48:00Speaker 2: If you have kids, when your first question, because I
- 48:03Speaker 2: have become my father who I'd make fun of for
- 48:06Speaker 2: years for being so discombobulated at a drive-thru because he's
- 48:10Speaker 2: getting shouted at from four different directions of orders. And
- 48:13Speaker 2: he just goes, oh, you know, when the person starts
- 48:16Speaker 2: talking back, you're trying to give the order. If they
- 48:18Speaker 2: say a word, the response to my dad is every time.
- 48:22Speaker 2: That's the impression of my dad. But when they start with, oh,
- 48:25Speaker 2: would you like a value chicken sandwich today?
- 48:29Speaker 1: Or would you like a, no, no thanks, I don't.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Can I start my order now?
- 48:33Speaker 2: Because I'm getting four different orders right now that I've
- 48:35Speaker 2: got to remember somehow and then find out what I
- 48:38Speaker 2: want to eat, which usually is just the lowest common
- 48:41Speaker 2: denominator of.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Whatever I see. Hey, yeah, you know what?
- 48:45Speaker 2: Whatever you just offered me, I don't even know if
- 48:46Speaker 2: I like it, but just give me that because that'll
- 48:48Speaker 2: make it easier for me to order something instead of
- 48:51Speaker 2: going through all this. And ordering on an app, I mean,
- 48:55Speaker 2: I encountered this in Knoxville this past weekend with an
- 48:58Speaker 2: Uber Eats delivery. I mean, guys, this is the someone
- 49:02Speaker 2: at work sends you out to get lunch for everyone
- 49:05Speaker 2: of today where you just want to get the simplest
- 49:08Speaker 2: thing possible because it's so hard to make special orders
- 49:12Speaker 2: on those apps. We had a coworker who used to
- 49:15Speaker 2: ask for light ice for me when I'm getting seven
- 49:19Speaker 2: different value meals. at Wendy's. And my response is, oh, yeah, sure.
- 49:24Speaker 2: And he would say, do you remember the light ice? Yes,
- 49:26Speaker 2: I remember the light ice. Every single time, I would
- 49:28Speaker 2: never ask for light ice. Hand him his drink, and
- 49:30Speaker 2: he's like, it doesn't have light ice. I'm sorry, they
- 49:32Speaker 2: screwed it up.
- 49:33Speaker 1: At the window.
- 49:34Speaker 2: That's the way I feel trying to order online with
- 49:37Speaker 2: an app. Like, just get me a pepperoni pizza.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Also... I don't need any sauces, anything.
- 49:42Speaker 2: I'm just going to order this because it's the first
- 49:43Speaker 2: thing I saw on there, and I'm going to click
- 49:46Speaker 2: on it, and now let me pay and get it
- 49:47Speaker 2: over here.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Also, the person, and this could be anybody. I'm not
- 49:54Speaker 1: talking about Light Ice Guy. But if you get a burger...
- 49:57Speaker 1: Just get everything on it that comes with it and
- 50:00Speaker 1: take it off whenever it arrives. It's really not that
- 50:02Speaker 1: difficult to take off a tomato. I don't want onion
- 50:05Speaker 1: or tomato, but I want extra pickle. No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 50:10Speaker 1: We can't be bothered by doing this and trying to
- 50:12Speaker 1: keep up with all this on your behalf. Especially if
- 50:14Speaker 1: there's multiple orders, like a handful of people that are
- 50:17Speaker 1: all pitching in for this one order, Chad. I'm with you, man.
- 50:20Speaker 1: The person who wants to go very specific order just
- 50:23Speaker 1: because they're one of seven people ordering... it's impossible to
- 50:29Speaker 1: actually get correct. Yeah.
- 50:31Speaker 2: I mean, take whatever you don't like off your burger
- 50:34Speaker 2: or your sandwich. You know, when you're in that situation,
- 50:36Speaker 2: you're just shouting a bunch of orders. Either have something
- 50:39Speaker 2: on standby you know you like that.
- 50:41Speaker 1: You can get.
- 50:41Speaker 2: We talked about Arby's. We like a nice beef and cheddar.
- 50:44Speaker 2: You don't have to screw with a beef and cheddar.
- 50:45Speaker 2: Just get a beef and cheddar.
- 50:47Speaker 1: You don't need to get a Philly cheesesteak and ask
- 50:49Speaker 1: for no peppers on the Philly cheesesteak as you're doing it.
- 50:52Speaker 1: And if you don't like the peppers, take the peppers off.
- 50:54Speaker 1: As you get it.
- 50:55Speaker 2: I feel like we're doing a public service by explaining
- 50:58Speaker 2: these things to people of just social norms, but a
- 51:01Speaker 2: lot of people don't get it. They still want to
- 51:03Speaker 2: get very specific with their.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Order, like JT's nine-year-old, who is very picky and specific
- 51:08Speaker 1: about the order. When you are not nine anymore.
- 51:11Speaker 2: And you become a grown-ass adult, you order something that's
- 51:15Speaker 2: very easy for the person ordering to make if they're
- 51:18Speaker 2: going to get food for you.
- 51:20Speaker 1: That's a separate rant. JT hop back in here. Cause
- 51:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna let Chad check the chat and see if
- 51:24Speaker 1: we have some primary complaints there as well. But you, you, your, uh,
- 51:28Speaker 1: complaint brought up, uh, exact deal, uh, for us. We
- 51:31Speaker 1: were driving in Texas this weekend. Uh, and, uh, Betsy
- 51:34Speaker 1: Noel is trying to order just a large fry, just
- 51:37Speaker 1: a large fry. And it, and not no fault of hers.
- 51:41Speaker 1: It took her a solid three minutes at this kiosk
- 51:44Speaker 1: to get to the fries large, and then try to
- 51:47Speaker 1: check out properly. And then, uh, It took forever to
- 51:51Speaker 1: actually get the fries. I mean, that's the one thing
- 51:53Speaker 1: they always have a ton of.
- 51:55Speaker 3: If you're just trying to go in and order one thing,
- 51:58Speaker 3: it's awful because they want to ask you, are you
- 52:01Speaker 3: sure you don't want to drink?
- 52:02Speaker 1: Do you want to round up for charity?
- 52:04Speaker 3: You have to do that too. Mark brought up a
- 52:07Speaker 3: good point too about maybe a discount for us. It
- 52:12Speaker 3: is very, very difficult if you're going to try to
- 52:14Speaker 3: order either one thing. Or if you're trying to do,
- 52:17Speaker 3: you know, as Chad said earlier, three or four orders
- 52:20Speaker 3: for three or four different people. It is beyond time consuming.
- 52:25Speaker 1: I appreciate it. Whenever we were in Oxford, Chad just
- 52:30Speaker 1: ordered pizzas. We just had pizza. Pizza was available if
- 52:34Speaker 1: you wanted pizza. It didn't matter if you wanted cheese
- 52:37Speaker 1: or if you wanted meat lovers, if you wanted pepperoni.
- 52:39Speaker 1: You just had pizza available. And if you liked it,
- 52:41Speaker 1: you liked it. If you didn't, you didn't. That's how
- 52:42Speaker 1: it should be, Chad. Well done.
- 52:44Speaker 2: I searched pizza near me at our house in Oxford.
- 52:47Speaker 2: I did this at 10 a.m. I ordered it at
- 52:49Speaker 2: 10.30 a.m. The guy showed up at 10.57 a.m. And
- 52:53Speaker 2: he said, man, you're early. Right as games were starting,
- 52:56Speaker 2: I'm like, I did that because I know this town
- 52:58Speaker 2: is flooded and everybody's about to be ordering pizza to go,
- 53:01Speaker 2: to be delivered. So I knew you'd get here fast
- 53:04Speaker 2: if I ordered early. Sure enough, that was the way
- 53:06Speaker 2: to go. I appreciate you saying that, Hutton. Mark, our
- 53:10Speaker 2: guy Mark Herman says, Mick Kiosks, at McDonald's are downstream
- 53:15Speaker 2: consequences from the push to raise minimum wages to $ 20
- 53:18Speaker 2: an hour. That's a bigger economic topic for another day,
- 53:23Speaker 2: but he's probably not wrong about not wanting to employ
- 53:25Speaker 2: actual human beings because of the.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Cost of it.
- 53:28Speaker 2: I also like sometimes I'm, people that work at fast
- 53:32Speaker 2: food places, I want to thank them for working there,
- 53:35Speaker 2: just for being there. You know, at some point, like
- 53:37Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, wow, thank you for taking.
- 53:39Speaker 1: This job and actually working this job and showing up.
- 53:41Speaker 1: There was an 80-year-old woman at Arby's. Remember her, Chad? Yes.
- 53:45Speaker 1: What was her name? Her name was like Janet or.
- 53:48Speaker 2: She had been an Arby's team member since 1989. Something
- 53:50Speaker 2: like that. It said on her badge. Yeah, it was
- 53:53Speaker 2: pretty incredible. Catfish Jake says, my primary complaint, Tennessee Titans apologist.
- 53:58Speaker 2: Super fans that still continue to make excuses for how
- 54:00Speaker 2: bad Cam Ward is playing and won't admit that he
- 54:03Speaker 2: is bad. Uh, that too is a good one. David
- 54:06Speaker 2: Griffin says, my primary complaint is to your point guy.
- 54:10Speaker 2: We're having a conversation. I know you're going to respond
- 54:12Speaker 2: to what I just said. I don't need you to
- 54:14Speaker 2: start a sentence with to your point. I think that's
- 54:17Speaker 2: just a tick to say that you're listening to whoever
- 54:19Speaker 2: saying that's just a way to verbalize where you left off.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 1: I'm not just shutting you down.
- 54:24Speaker 2: I'm not just going to start where you ended and
- 54:26Speaker 2: say something. I'm going to acknowledge that you have spoken
- 54:29Speaker 2: and that I have listened to your point.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Shout out to Catfish Jake, who beat me in fantasy
- 54:33Speaker 1: football by, I think, three tenths of a point. I mean,
- 54:40Speaker 1: it was because Mike Vrabel got his ass kicked. And
- 54:44Speaker 1: my head coach was minus three points instead of minus one.
- 54:47Speaker 1: That's what it came down to in this fantasy football league.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Catfish Jake wins. I am now two and one. Chad,
- 54:53Speaker 1: you remain unbeaten. I do. Did JT lose too? I
- 54:56Speaker 1: think JT lost. Yeah, JT lost. JT's too long. Yeah,
- 55:00Speaker 1: that's right.
- 55:01Speaker 2: The only 3-0 teams remaining are me and Reno. So
- 55:05Speaker 2: me and Reno are both undefeated at this point in
- 55:07Speaker 2: the season.
- 55:08Speaker 1: So kudos to us. Sorry about you guys and your
- 55:12Speaker 1: loss on that one. Yes. We'll see what happens.
- 55:14Speaker 2: My wife Angie, watching the show or listening to the
- 55:17Speaker 2: show right now, says, which brings us back to the
- 55:19Speaker 2: point of why moms can't decide where to eat. To
- 55:22Speaker 2: JT's previous point, also to what David said about not saying,
- 55:26Speaker 2: to your point, moms can't decide where to eat because
- 55:29Speaker 2: everyone's shouting at them what they want most of the
- 55:32Speaker 2: time with kids saying different things. So fair point, fair point.
- 55:36Speaker 2: But also just decide, just pick, you know, we're their parents.
- 55:39Speaker 2: You just all just make a decision and you can
- 55:41Speaker 2: like it. You can find something there that you can eat.
- 55:44Speaker 2: So she got the pin to work, I guess.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Yeah, she took it apart like MacGyver. Yeah, yeah.
- 55:49Speaker 2: She just completely took it apart and where the little
- 55:51Speaker 2: bitty thin part that had the pin attached, I wrote
- 55:54Speaker 2: with that. And then she put the pin back together.
- 55:57Speaker 2: I thought she may have pricked your finger and you
- 55:58Speaker 2: signed it in blood or something. Yeah, that's what Jordan
- 56:00Speaker 2: on the YouTube chat said. You're going to have to
- 56:02Speaker 2: sign this in blood.
- 56:03Speaker 1: Hey, I got something here, Chad. Yep.
- 56:06Speaker 3: So bringing that up makes me also think about this.
- 56:10Speaker 3: I think last week or the week before, we were
- 56:11Speaker 3: talking about the, speaking of the kiosk, where you leave
- 56:14Speaker 3: the tips.
- 56:14Speaker 1: How awkward is it?
- 56:15Speaker 3: Would you rather have the pin issue or would you
- 56:18Speaker 3: rather have the lady that shows up with the toast
- 56:21Speaker 3: thing and hands it to you and says, here, go
- 56:24Speaker 3: ahead and write down. Click this button for 25%. You
- 56:27Speaker 3: can't even see how much your tip is at this point.
- 56:29Speaker 1: You're just clicking a percentage and it puts you on
- 56:31Speaker 1: the spot at this nice restaurant. I'd rather write it down.
- 56:34Speaker 1: I'd rather write it down, Chad. How about you?
- 56:36Speaker 2: Every time, 100% of the time. This is not 60%
- 56:40Speaker 2: of the time it works all the time. 100% of
- 56:42Speaker 2: the time it works all the time.
- 56:43Speaker 1: Write it down.
- 56:45Speaker 2: I do not want that little machine turned towards me
- 56:47Speaker 2: with her waiting until I'm done to see her tip
- 56:51Speaker 2: as you're doing it. That's a brutal process. I mean,
- 56:54Speaker 2: I left like 20%. It was a sizable bill last night.
- 56:58Speaker 2: I left like right around 20%, but maybe like 19%
- 57:01Speaker 2: or 18% because I.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Was trying to get to a round number.
- 57:05Speaker 2: And even then, even after she handed me a pen
- 57:07Speaker 2: that didn't work, I still felt like a little bit ashamed.
- 57:12Speaker 2: that it wasn't like 25% or over 20% of a tip.
- 57:15Speaker 2: So I'm trying to rush out of the restaurant before
- 57:17Speaker 2: she sees the tip that I left her, even.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Though I left her 20%.
- 57:22Speaker 2: I can't fight this inherent shame I feel if I
- 57:25Speaker 2: don't give a full tip, even if the service isn't great.
- 57:28Speaker 1: You feel like you're being judged. I feel like I'm
- 57:31Speaker 1: being judged.
- 57:32Speaker 2: I totally agree with you. Who's this person to treat
- 57:35Speaker 2: me like some plebeian as I work here and not
- 57:38Speaker 2: give me the full 20% I'm doing my best here,
- 57:40Speaker 2: and I'm in a dead sprint to the parking lot
- 57:42Speaker 2: every time.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Let me tell you what happened to me Sunday. This
- 57:46Speaker 1: was wild.
- 57:46Speaker 3: So I'll say the name of the restaurant because they
- 57:49Speaker 3: do a good job for us.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Chili's. We're at Chili's, and we eat.
- 57:53Speaker 3: And the kids decide they want, and they've eaten well,
- 57:56Speaker 3: they decide they want a molten lava chocolate cake, right?
- 58:00Speaker 1: Yeah, a little bit. So I tell the waitress, and
- 58:01Speaker 1: I go ahead, and they have the things there that
- 58:04Speaker 1: you can.
- 58:05Speaker 3: Pay $ 17 to play a game if your kid decides
- 58:07Speaker 3: to hit a button by accident.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:09Speaker 3: So after I place my order and she says, got
- 58:12Speaker 3: that in, she types it in on her little handheld machine.
- 58:15Speaker 3: I go ahead and pay so I can get out
- 58:17Speaker 3: of there once my food's there, they're eating, we can leave,
- 58:19Speaker 3: we don't have to worry about it.
- 58:20Speaker 1: So I just go ahead and pay.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Well, about seven, eight minutes go by and she's like, oh,
- 58:25Speaker 3: let me go check on your molten lava cake.
- 58:27Speaker 1: And I said, thank you. Well, she comes back five
- 58:29Speaker 1: or six minutes.
- 58:29Speaker 3: Later and she said, oh, it didn't ring in. So
- 58:33Speaker 3: we need you to pay for it. I didn't look
- 58:35Speaker 3: at the bill. I just went on and paid what
- 58:37Speaker 3: I paid. And now I've already paid and she comes
- 58:39Speaker 3: back and says, hey, we actually need you to pay
- 58:41Speaker 3: this $ 8 for your molten lava cake.
- 58:44Speaker 4: And I was like, hmm.
- 58:46Speaker 1: And guess what else? Tipped me on top of that too.
- 58:49Speaker 1: So here we are.
- 58:51Speaker 2: This is like Monopoly. You have bank error in your
- 58:53Speaker 2: favor is the way I feel. The Chili's Corporation can
- 58:56Speaker 2: take this $ 8 hit would have been my response. I
- 58:58Speaker 2: think you'll be okay and survive the night if you
- 59:01Speaker 2: just go ahead and let me have the molten lava
- 59:03Speaker 2: cake that you failed to put down in the.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Order originally, and now I've got to go do this.
- 59:07Speaker 1: Speaking of that little game kiosk thing.
- 59:10Speaker 2: at Chili's or Applebee's or wherever they have it that
- 59:12Speaker 2: kids play with, that thing, I could feel a.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Sore throat coming on just looking at the thing. I mean,
- 59:19Speaker 1: I'm not a germaphobe about certain things, but my kids
- 59:23Speaker 1: with their grubby thumbs all over it, knowing how many
- 59:26Speaker 1: grubby thumbs and hands are all over those things that
- 59:29Speaker 1: are just sitting at the table when you arrive. I
- 59:32Speaker 1: can literally feel throat congestion as I'm looking at that thinking,
- 59:37Speaker 1: here comes a two-day cold for my kids and then
- 59:40Speaker 1: probably for me based off of this contraption. Those things
- 59:44Speaker 1: are the worst. Spell the full name for strep throat. Yes,
- 59:49Speaker 1: this is strep.
- 59:50Speaker 2: This is physical embodiment of strep is what they're handing
- 59:53Speaker 2: you with that.
- 59:54Speaker 1: It's awful. Coming up, we have Jason Foster from sportandstate.com
- 59:58Speaker 1: who's going to join us. He's actually at the Atlanta
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: and Philly series right now taking place. down in Georgia.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Plenty of good seats available in that series. There were
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: a lot of empties in that game yesterday because of
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: the start time mid-afternoon.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: If I didn't have this show, I would be thinking, well,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: if there's game three, it wouldn't be a bad little
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: day trip to go down and take in a 1
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: o'clock in the afternoon do-or-die playoff game for Major League Baseball, Braves,
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: and Phillies. We know a great balcony, too, for later
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: in the playoffs. We do, yes. If they continue to advance.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Jason Foster is going to join us the very latest
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: from Atlanta next.
