Latest / Hurdle with Emily Abbate / 5-MINUTE FRIDAY: Who Would You Pay For An Intro To?
Transcript
- 0:19Speaker 1: Hey, there's Emily a body here. You're listening to a
- 0:22Speaker 1: five minute of Friday from Hurdle. I subscribe to this newsletter.
- 0:26Speaker 1: It's called Life's a Game. It's by a woman named Amanda.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I will link it in the show notes and at
- 0:32Speaker 1: the bottom of her newsletter. I was reading the ways
- 0:36Speaker 1: that she's hoping that her community will support her, and
- 0:39Speaker 1: one of them is through a platform that I had
- 0:41Speaker 1: never heard of, and it's called Intro. And I recognize
- 0:44Speaker 1: that this five minute Friday may sound like an ad
- 0:46Speaker 1: but I have never heard of Intro.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Like I said, I'm brand new to it.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Basically, the concept of it is that anyone anywhere can
- 0:54Speaker 1: book the world's quote unquote most in demand experts and
- 0:57Speaker 1: get advice over a video call. So essentially, you pay
- 1:00Speaker 1: whatever rate that they have established for fifteen minutes of
- 1:03Speaker 1: their time and you can literally calendar a zoom with
- 1:08Speaker 1: someone like Ali Web tomorrow. I'm really impressed with some
- 1:12Speaker 1: of the people they have on here. I'm talking like
- 1:14Speaker 1: aside from Ali founder of Reddit, co founder of Nextdoor,
- 1:17Speaker 1: co founder of Zillo, the former global CEO of Anthropology Group,
- 1:22Speaker 1: the founder of Native Like, so many individuals are on
- 1:26Speaker 1: this platform. And it really has me thinking about two
- 1:30Speaker 1: things which I want to share with you this Friday. One,
- 1:34Speaker 1: can you even imagine what you would do differently if
- 1:37Speaker 1: you came to the understanding that your time could be
- 1:41Speaker 1: valued up to four thousand dollars an hour? So these individuals,
- 1:46Speaker 1: they're pricing their time fifteen minute blocks for between one
- 1:49Speaker 1: hundred and one thousand dollars for fifteen minutes. So if
- 1:52Speaker 1: your time was worth four thousand dollars an hour, what
- 1:56Speaker 1: would you be doing differently? Would you be treating yourself differently?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Food for thought?
- 2:02Speaker 1: And then the other thing that I'm thinking of truly
- 2:06Speaker 1: is who would you book fifteen minutes with if everyone
- 2:09Speaker 1: in the world was on this platform and you in
- 2:11Speaker 1: an opportunity to learn from anyone. And I will say
- 2:14Speaker 1: this podcasting is so phenomenal because you have the opportunity
- 2:19Speaker 1: at your literal fingertips every day to learn from people.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And what a gift that is.
- 2:25Speaker 1: And how lucky am I that so many of these people,
- 2:27Speaker 1: not necessarily that are on this website intro, but just
- 2:30Speaker 1: in general, are giving me their time so that I
- 2:33Speaker 1: can then share them with you. That's just a side note,
- 2:36Speaker 1: But who would you book time with to learn from
- 2:42Speaker 1: is what I am curious to know, and seriously tag
- 2:45Speaker 1: me in your responses or just DM me. I am
- 2:48Speaker 1: all for conversation on this. I'm sure I'll post a
- 2:51Speaker 1: story to go along with this tomorrow so we can
- 2:53Speaker 1: open up some sort of a discussion. My mind is blown.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Really.
- 2:58Speaker 1: The prompt for this week is what would you do
- 3:00Speaker 1: differently if you really valued your time? Like these individuals
- 3:04Speaker 1: are really valuing their time. And also, of note, we
- 3:08Speaker 1: have the opportunity to learn from anyone, so it doesn't
- 3:11Speaker 1: need to be someone that is the founder of Reddit
- 3:15Speaker 1: for you to learn from them. Right. I have the
- 3:18Speaker 1: opportunity to learn from my neighbor, just like I have
- 3:20Speaker 1: the opportunity to learn from my doorman. Just like I
- 3:22Speaker 1: have the opportunity to learn from Cat Schneider, who I
- 3:26Speaker 1: interviewed earlier for the show today. She's the founder of Ritual. Anyway,
- 3:31Speaker 1: that's where my head's got this week. I've got fourteen
- 3:34Speaker 1: miles to run this morning. It feels like my first
- 3:36Speaker 1: true long long run of this training cycle, or something
- 3:39Speaker 1: like fifty two days out. So send me all the
- 3:42Speaker 1: good vibes, wish me all of the good luck. I
- 3:43Speaker 1: will accept your DMS, and now I will answer a
- 3:48Speaker 1: listener question. Hi, Emily, my name is Derek. I'm a
- 3:51Speaker 1: longtime listener of yours. I just want to call in
- 3:54Speaker 1: and ask how are you, like, seriously, how are you
- 3:57Speaker 1: doing mentally, physically, emotionally and through a lot over the
- 4:00Speaker 1: last two years.
- 4:01Speaker 2: So I just want to check in and see how
- 4:02Speaker 2: you're doing. Thanks. Can we have a beat for how
- 4:05Speaker 2: sweet Derek is? I love this?
- 4:08Speaker 1: You know what, I feel really good this week, and
- 4:12Speaker 1: that's because I'm really prioritizing what works for me. If
- 4:15Speaker 1: you don't subscribe to the weekly hurdle I write on
- 4:17Speaker 1: this today, the link to do that is in the
- 4:20Speaker 1: show notes. It's the newsletter that comes out every single Friday,
- 4:22Speaker 1: if you are not aware. And this week I did
- 4:28Speaker 1: something I don't usually do, and I invested in what
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'm putting into my body. Like, yes, I usually spend
- 4:34Speaker 1: money at Trader Joe's and I buy groceries, and I
- 4:36Speaker 1: cook and I do the best that I can. And
- 4:37Speaker 1: I'm also often going out to dinner and spending all
- 4:40Speaker 1: the money and coffees and everything. And so this week
- 4:42Speaker 1: what I decided to do was I treated myself to
- 4:45Speaker 1: the Sakara Life signature meal program. I love Sacara's meals.
- 4:50Speaker 1: This is not sponsored. They do not sponsor the show.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I just feel really good when I know that I
- 4:57Speaker 1: can get up from my desk in the middle of
- 4:58Speaker 1: the busy day and go grab remade meal for lunch,
- 5:02Speaker 1: especially and also having it ready at the end of
- 5:04Speaker 1: the day. It's just one less thing I have to
- 5:06Speaker 1: worry about. And I love knowing that I'm putting whole
- 5:09Speaker 1: food into my body and really treating it with.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Love and respect, which I should be doing all the time.
- 5:14Speaker 1: And so I feel good right now because I'm doing
- 5:18Speaker 1: something good for myself and that feels nice. I'm on
- 5:21Speaker 1: top of my training, which also feels nice. I am
- 5:25Speaker 1: supported and loved by my family and friends, many of
- 5:28Speaker 1: whom I've had the opportunity to see this week and
- 5:30Speaker 1: last week, and so I'm in a good spot.
- 5:33Speaker 2: I'm excited to see my mom this weekend. Yeah.
- 5:37Speaker 1: So thanks thanks for asking. I encourage you all ask
- 5:40Speaker 1: the people that you're seeing on the regular, how are
- 5:42Speaker 1: they doing really? On that note, make sure you're following
- 5:46Speaker 1: along with Hurdle over on social at Hurdle Podcast, I
- 5:49Speaker 1: am over at Emily a Body another hurdle conquered.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Catch you guys next time
