- 0:03Many years ago, I remember going into the prison and speaking to many people, and they're telling me their situation, their humiliation, their shame, how they have done wrong And I remember sharing this message: I will turn your shame and humiliation into joy.
- 0:32Let me say that again now.
- 0:34I will turn your shame and humiliation into joy.
- 0:40See, in this thing called life, we make decisions.
- 0:43Sometime, hmm, not so good.
- 0:46Other time, not so good.
- 0:50Sometime good, but the good one, you really don't dwell on those.
- 0:55You dwell on those that does not really line up with society or line up with the word of God.
- 1:01Where am I going?
- 1:03The title is, I Will Turn Your Shame and Humiliation into Joy.
- 1:08In the Book of Isaiah 61:7, where it says,"Instead of your shame, you will have a double portion, and instead of humiliation, they will shout jo- shout for joy over their portion." Now, this is about the children of Israel, how they came out of bondage.
- 1:30Now, here's the problem with the average person.
- 1:33They don't understand what they really dealt with.
- 1:35They dealt with slavery.
- 1:37They dealt with their womens being raped.
- 1:40They dealt with people being murdered, the children being murdered, men being murdered, women being murdered.
- 1:45They dealt with depression.
- 1:46They dealt with anxiety.
- 1:48They dealt with no hope.
- 1:51But then God word just has to come through, because 430 years he said,"You will be a slave, and then you will come out of bondage." In America today, we're talking about in America now.
- 2:05In a lot of the world, but we dealing with America, they're dealing with people who have been prison or not for stealing.
- 2:14They lie, adultery, murder, rape, child molestation, child pornography.
- 2:23We talking about rapists.
- 2:24We talking about gambling.
- 2:25We talking about sin, sin, sin.
- 2:29Then on top of all of that, we gotta deal with dysfunction, whether it's mentally, whether it's physical, some physical, whatever happened to a person, some mental, whether they was born that way or turned out that way, whether it's drug addiction, whether it's gambling.
- 2:48It's some type of dysfunction, just to name a few.
- 2:54See, here's the reality of the word of God.
- 2:59You can't come through most of these things.
- 3:03You're not- You're just not gonna come through.
- 3:08That's why it uses generational curses.
- 3:11Why?
- 3:11Because something happened to you, and you would think that they could change.
- 3:18No, it's not that easy.
- 3:21Because the mind is the most powerful thing in the world.
- 3:25Once you program your mind wrong, it keeps feeding wrong information Most people gravitate to whatever area they're in.
- 3:38If you're a child molester, you usually associate with child molesters.
- 3:43Why?
- 3:44Because you can feel comfortable.
- 3:46If you're a drunk, you usually hang around other drunks.
- 3:49Why?
- 3:49Because you're comfortable.
- 3:51If you like gambling, you like to hang around other people who are gambling.
- 3:54Why?
- 3:54Because you're comfortable.
- 3:55But here's the part of this mental part that most people don't understand.
- 4:01Once you have an addiction, it overrides your logics, common sense.
- 4:09I used to think, well, just stop gambling or just stop doing whatever.
- 4:13It's not that simple.
- 4:15It overrides your functional way of thinking.
- 4:18But he says, I will turn your shame and humiliation into joy.
- 4:22That's not for everybody.
- 4:25That's for those people who accept Christ, accept his Holy Spirit, and is willing to change.
- 4:31Most people, they're not willing to change.
- 4:33Why?
- 4:34It's comfortable.
- 4:36It's comfortable being around people who think like you.
- 4:39It's comfortable being around people who act like you.
- 4:42It's comfortable being around people who don't make you feel ashamed, who don't make you feel humiliated.
- 4:49Why does the word tell you I will turn?
- 4:53Well, first of all, when he said, I will turn your shame and humiliation into joy, he's saying for some of the things you went through, I'll give you double portion.
- 5:02You lose a house, I give you back.
- 5:04Bigger house.
- 5:05You lose a car, give you a better car.
- 5:07But these are choices.
- 5:10One of the hardest things for a person to do is to realize and accept the change.
- 5:17When the children of Israel was led out of the promised land.
- 5:21Now, see, people miss the fact that these 10 plagues was done on Egypt.
- 5:28And they still pretty much didn't want to let them go.
- 5:30Why?
- 5:31I'm going to let slaves go?
- 5:33No.
- 5:34You got to make me let them go.
- 5:37And then when they became free, he gave them the law.
- 5:40And what did they want to do?
- 5:42I want to go back.
- 5:43Why?
- 5:43It's comfortable.
- 5:45I want to go back to where I'm in slaves.
- 5:47It's comfortable.
- 5:48I want to go back where you rape our women and kill our men.
- 5:51It's comfortable.
- 5:52I want to go back where I don't have to make no decision.
- 5:55It's comfortable.
- 5:58But when you accept Christ and you allow His plan to take control, that's why it's a love your neighbor as yourself.
- 6:07Well, the reason you love your neighbor as yourself is because pretty much your neighbor gonna get, gonna piss you off.
- 6:14Why?
- 6:15They have to.
- 6:15Why?
- 6:16'Cause if you're living a different standard, they're not gonna live to your standard, so you have to treat them as you would treat yourself.
- 6:24The biggest problem with people is their mind.
- 6:30You know, I remember, um, we, I used to go to the prison.
- 6:33We, every two weeks to every three weeks, every month I definitely went to the prison for three years.
- 6:40And I remember the last message I preached to them, and I said,"Now you are the light of the world." What I was telling them without even knowing it is my time is up,'cause the religious people made sure I didn't come back.
- 6:53Why?
- 6:53I'm teaching something they don't wanna hear.
- 6:56They don't wanna hear or they don't want you to believe you're better than.
- 7:01You know, I remember a young guy coming to me, well, at this point he's middle-aged, and he says,"You know, I killed a man," and he's telling me his story.
- 7:10And he says,"I, I was, I was tired, and I was driving a truck, and I fell asleep, and I killed a family, and I got life." And he says,"In the beginning, the family started coming, and then they stopped coming, and for over 20 years they have stopped coming." He says,"The only family I see now is you and your wife." I want you to hear me now.
- 7:40Yes, he did something wrong, and yes, he's gonna pay for it for the rest of his life.
- 7:45But what did he do?
- 7:46Fall asleep.
- 7:47Should he know better?
- 7:48Yes.
- 7:49But as-- I always ask people a question.
- 7:53Show me someone that have never done something wrong to raise their hand.
- 7:57I've yet to meet one person.
- 7:59Everybody does something wrong.
- 8:01I fell asleep driving.
- 8:04He did what everybody pretty much have done that have truck driven long distance.
- 8:09But he says,"I will turn your shame and humiliation into joy." That's because you accept Him, accept His gift, and understand you're a new creature.
- 8:18That mean the old thing has passed away, and now you're renewed.
- 8:21That's because of the Holy Spirit.
- 8:22You think different, you walk different, and you are different, and that is His word
