- 0:34But the Artemis 2 mission is the next one that will be on the
- 0:38schedule and at NASA's Kennedy Space Center.
- 0:41A flurry of activities surrounds the preparations for the
- 0:44upcoming Artemis 2 mission, now slated for September of 2025
- 0:48following a recent delay. Another mission, which is a
- 0:51cornerstone in NASA's ambitious plan to return humans to the
- 0:54surface of the moon, relies on the seamless integration of the
- 0:57Orion spacecraft in the mighty Space Launch System rocket or
- 1:01the SLS. The Exploration Ground Systems,
- 1:04or the EGS program is at the forefront of these preparations,
- 1:07meticulously finalizing the new ground systems essential for
- 1:11crude launches. Now, the delay announced by NASA
- 1:14officials has been attributed to unforeseen challenges within the
- 1:17Orion program, dissensitating an additional 10 months of
- 1:20engineering and production efforts.
- 1:23And despite these setbacks, EGS is adapting its schedule to
- 1:27ensure that the ground systems and the SL s s solid rocket
- 1:30booster components are ready for the pivotal moment when assembly

- 1:42certification of the mobile launcher and Pad 39-B systems.
- 1:46Now these are crucial for the transition to crew missions,
- 1:49involving comprehensive testing of new and upgraded systems to
- 1:54ensure the safety and efficiency of operations.
- 1:56The introduction of an advanced emergency egress system is a
- 1:59highlight of these upgrades, mirroring the safety features of
- 2:03pass NASA crew admissions and the current commercial crew
- 2:06program. Now the emergency evacuation
- 2:08system, critical for the safety of the crew and support
- 2:12personnel, is undergoing rigorous testing.
- 2:15This system featuring slide wire baskets and emergency transport
- 2:19vehicles, is designed to provide a rapid evacuation route for the
- 2:23launchpad in an emergency scenario, and the testing phase
- 2:27for the system targeted for completion in mid spring
- 2:29underscores NASA's commitment to maintaining the highest
- 2:32standards of quality. Now, concurrently, EGS is
- 2:36addressing the enhancement of liquid hydrogen storage capacity
- 2:40at Pad 39 BA strategic move to bolster the SL s s launch
- 2:44capabilities. This expansion, coupled with a
- 2:46series of integrated system verification and validation
- 2:49tests, shows that the thorough and methodical approach that
