- 0:31Speaker 1: I've said this episode's great because I directed it. Forget, dude,
- 0:34Speaker 1: This shit's good, dude, forget. This is my favorite episode
- 0:37Speaker 1: so far. I agree, I agree. I'm not just saying that.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm not just saying that because I directed direction. Aside,
- 0:44Speaker 1: the script for this episode is fucking hilarious. You are
- 0:50Speaker 1: fucking hilarious. You have said that. I'll accept that. You'll
- 0:52Speaker 1: have like five laugh out loud moments. Yeah, I'll take it.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I'll take it. I'll take it, dude. This episode, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: first of all, it's so funny. Listen, Thank you listeners.
- 1:02Speaker 1: You have to understand that Bill Lawrence is so competitive
- 1:06Speaker 1: that he gave me this episode. If you watch this episode,
- 1:09Speaker 1: it is far and away more epic than any other episode.
- 1:14Speaker 1: It look, there's a car crash. All the characters except Laverne,
- 1:19Speaker 1: which was weird. Everybody's in the freaking opening montage everybody's
- 1:23Speaker 1: a big ass party that now I'm literally on fire.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I mean, I dude, you have to understand, I got
- 1:30Speaker 1: this script that I was saw saying to show. I'm
- 1:34Speaker 1: just saying, I'm glad you're saying what you're saying, because
- 1:36Speaker 1: I was like, I'm watching this and I'm going people
- 1:38Speaker 1: are gonna clown on me. But I think this might
- 1:39Speaker 1: be the best fucking one of them. No, it is, dude,
- 1:43Speaker 1: send far. I think it's it's the funniest, most epic
- 1:46Speaker 1: episode so far, so far as the best episode so
- 1:49Speaker 1: far of Scrubs. So that's weird, so far as the
- 1:52Speaker 1: best episode so far of Scrubs. It's pretty fucking good, dude, dude,
- 1:56Speaker 1: it's so freaking good. And I love all the directors
- 1:59Speaker 1: that before, and I love all the people who've written before,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and all of the show has had great meaning. This
- 2:05Speaker 1: episode feels like a feature film. Yes, absolutely, And I
- 2:10Speaker 1: wonder if that has something to do with the director.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Let's look up and see who it was scrolling, Joe.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Can you look that up up? Can you look up
- 2:18Speaker 1: who directed this one? Because it's it feels different, it
- 2:21Speaker 1: feels like, you know, how wand division you were saying
- 2:24Speaker 1: doesn't feel like a TV show, feel yet. I haven't
- 2:27Speaker 1: watched yet. No, I haven't either, but I'm saying nobody's
- 2:30Speaker 1: watched it. I love it. We're gonna watch tonight, dude,
- 2:32Speaker 1: I listen, listen. You know how everyone is saying you
- 2:37Speaker 1: were saying that one division doesn't feel like a TV show,
- 2:39Speaker 1: it feels like a feature. Yes, well, I feel that
- 2:41Speaker 1: about this episode of Scrubs. It feels like Scrubs the feature. Absolutely,
- 2:45Speaker 1: I agree with you. It is so fucking funny. I
- 2:48Speaker 1: have like so many pages of notes. I don't know
- 2:50Speaker 1: how we're gonna get through all this in the amount.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I'm glad you wrote a lot of notes because I
- 2:54Speaker 1: was working on the recap in my mind. Oh are
- 2:57Speaker 1: we gonna get a special rap as promised? We're gonna
- 2:59Speaker 1: start right now. I'm gonna rehearse him a couple of times.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I'm not recording shit, Daniel, You're gonna have to. I
- 3:06Speaker 1: don't say I was recording the whole time. It's also
- 3:08Speaker 1: echo everyone Donald forgot to press play on, you forgot
- 3:12Speaker 1: to hit to hit record time. Now they are they're great,
- 3:16Speaker 1: all right, So loo that's why. Because he was on
- 3:19Speaker 1: the zoom audio do you want to apologize to the
- 3:22Speaker 1: I apologize to everybody. I'm glad. I looked down to
- 3:25Speaker 1: make sure though, because you were so enthralled by the
- 3:29Speaker 1: direction of this episode. Fast episode, dude, it is, it
- 3:32Speaker 1: really is, all right, so look the recap. We gotta wait.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Do you want to do you want to count into
- 3:35Speaker 1: the show first? Yeah? Sure we could count on the show.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Can I do it? Because I directed the episode? Absolutely, man,
- 3:41Speaker 1: go for yours keep story about story so yeah around here? Yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 1: an m we have so much to talk about. All right,
- 4:14Speaker 1: all right, let me just rehearse this real quick and
- 4:15Speaker 1: then we could get into we have wants to talk.
- 4:17Speaker 1: What if the one that you rehearse is magical, then
- 4:19Speaker 1: we don't have recorded it? And then I got recorded
- 4:21Speaker 1: and we got it. All right, go for yours Donald,
- 4:23Speaker 1: all right, here we go. J D was like, cannot
- 4:28Speaker 1: freaky freak with Molly to Elliott, who was hard pressed,
- 4:32Speaker 1: but probably when I think of it, knew he had
- 4:34Speaker 1: no chance in hell, so she sent him on the quest.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Feel me watch he fails. This episode was directed Buzzy
- 4:40Speaker 1: Bizzle at the Garden State came out, so he was
- 4:41Speaker 1: starting to sizzle, and dollar Bill was like I don't
- 4:44Speaker 1: want the boy the fizzle. I'll let him direct pepe
- 4:46Speaker 1: us and there rehizzle, back lot, crazy shots, improvised, what
- 4:50Speaker 1: you got treat by a ka Yo room that's kind
- 4:52Speaker 1: of hot, top yotta chuck a lot, so's your face,
- 4:55Speaker 1: Doctor Cox and Molly Shannon Molly clock zip blind because
- 4:57Speaker 1: she's hot. All well received by the pop your list
- 5:00Speaker 1: because like prim zb was an optimist, I'm rocket like
- 5:04Speaker 1: Alaju want s's like a restaurant. You can just call
- 5:07Speaker 1: the faith. That's the recap, but it wouldn't be complete
- 5:10Speaker 1: without shouting now. DJ Daniel and Joe wil Monique. Yeah,
- 5:15Speaker 1: come three, dude. I feel like it's my birthday and
- 5:20Speaker 1: you gave me the best present you've ever given. Yo.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I hope that you can put this together. Oh, don't
- 5:27Speaker 1: you worry about a thing that was hard? What was
- 5:30Speaker 1: the metronome set to ninety five beats per minute? How
- 5:36Speaker 1: happy you made your beat maker? Don't you worry about
- 5:39Speaker 1: the thing dude? That was incredible? You are I mean,
- 5:43Speaker 1: I'm not just saying this because I love you. You're
- 5:45Speaker 1: a really good writer of of raps and rhymes. You're
- 5:49Speaker 1: a gentleman and a scholar. No, you you are a
- 5:52Speaker 1: really good director and writer of movies, dude, you know what.
- 5:56Speaker 1: You know what I say to everybody all the time.
- 5:59Speaker 1: And and because you like already a really good actor,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I think you're a better director than you are an actor.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And that's saying a lot, because you're a really good actor, dude,
- 6:08Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Than like, I'm excited for
- 6:10Speaker 1: you to be doing Cheaper by the Dozen and everything
- 6:13Speaker 1: like that. I'd liked. I like it when you direct
- 6:16Speaker 1: things too, like this episode. So far in the shows
- 6:21Speaker 1: that we've watched, this is the most Bill. I'm sorry.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I know you're gonna hate me for saying this. He's
- 6:28Speaker 1: not that's all an act. This is the best episode, man.
- 6:32Speaker 1: This is the best episode. It really is. And I'm
- 6:35Speaker 1: glad you agree because I got to say, you know,
- 6:37Speaker 1: when of we haven't ever done this exercise of sitting
- 6:39Speaker 1: down and watching them all in a row. And they're
- 6:42Speaker 1: all they all have great things about them, but there's
- 6:45Speaker 1: just something about this episode that kicked everything up a notch.
- 6:49Speaker 1: And I'm not and I can say that because it
- 6:51Speaker 1: isn't just the direction, although I am proud of the
- 6:53Speaker 1: way I directed it. In five days, which if you
- 6:56Speaker 1: are in production at all know is fucking insane when
- 6:59Speaker 1: you look in scope of this episode, how are you
- 7:02Speaker 1: how are you able to get all of the stuff
- 7:04Speaker 1: with Molly Shannon and freaking h Johnny and then still
- 7:08Speaker 1: get all of the stuff with me You have the
- 7:10Speaker 1: gram and then still get the cold opening, which and
- 7:13Speaker 1: then get the stunts and what about like fire right,
- 7:16Speaker 1: And by the way, that ambulance stuff is all I mean,
- 7:18Speaker 1: there's a few green screenshots in the ambulance, but for
- 7:21Speaker 1: the most part that's all practical, which means we are
- 7:23Speaker 1: literally pulling, towing around a giant ambulance and and setting
- 7:27Speaker 1: up cameras mounted on it doing an accident. We had
- 7:30Speaker 1: never done something this with this amount of scope and
- 7:34Speaker 1: scale to it in in all of scrubs. Now as
- 7:38Speaker 1: we go on, of course we have other ones. We
- 7:40Speaker 1: have the Musical, which was the most epic. We have
- 7:43Speaker 1: the Princess Bride one and stuff. But this, this so far,
- 7:47Speaker 1: was the biggest thing we ever took on, and it
- 7:50Speaker 1: didn't What was great is that it didn't feel out
- 7:53Speaker 1: of place, like when we get to the musical and
- 7:56Speaker 1: when we get to the the The Wizard of oz
- 8:01Speaker 1: One and everything like that. And then when we get
- 8:02Speaker 1: to the Fantasy one, the Princess Bride one and everything,
- 8:06Speaker 1: it gets a little fantasyish like this felt like Licensed
- 8:12Speaker 1: to Drive. This felt like you know, planes, trains and automobiles.
- 8:16Speaker 1: You know, if you merge the two of those movies together.
- 8:19Speaker 1: This was it. I was Corey Felm and you were
- 8:21Speaker 1: Corey Hame. Heather Graham was well, well, Heather Graham was
- 8:27Speaker 1: Heather Graham and License to Drive, Yeah, was Licensed to Drive.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I never saw it, dude, Yeah, dude, look I gotta
- 8:36Speaker 1: see it. But dude, I gotta tell you that I
- 8:38Speaker 1: couldn't believe it's twenty one minutes. I mean twenty one minutes.
- 8:43Speaker 1: It's a short film, it's tiny, but look how much
- 8:47Speaker 1: we accomplished in twenty one minutes. Dude, I can't believe
- 8:50Speaker 1: that you have never seen License to Drive. I'm just
- 8:53Speaker 1: a little put it on my list. We're looking for
- 8:55Speaker 1: new things to watch. Look, all right, Look, when I
- 8:58Speaker 1: was a kid, this movie meant everything to me. And
- 9:02Speaker 1: it starred Corey Hame, Corey Fellman, and a very very
- 9:08Speaker 1: very young Heather Grahm. Okay, this is like how the
- 9:13Speaker 1: world was introduced, Like you might have been introduced to
- 9:16Speaker 1: her through Boogie Nights. I was introduced through her. I
- 9:20Speaker 1: was introduced to her through License to Drive, right, License
- 9:24Speaker 1: to Drive. Do you think I'm so disappointed in you
- 9:28Speaker 1: right now? Dude, dude, I'm so disappointed in you right now.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I'm just I can't believe it. And that's what this movie,
- 9:34Speaker 1: that's what this freaking all right. So look, Corey Hay,
- 9:37Speaker 1: we gotta get into it. Corey Hame, give us, give
- 9:39Speaker 1: us the cliff notes. We have so much to talk
- 9:41Speaker 1: about with this episode. Okay, Corey Hame is a kid
- 9:45Speaker 1: in high school and it's him. He's trying to drive
- 9:49Speaker 1: for the weekend. He built up the courage one night
- 9:53Speaker 1: to ask out Heather Graham and she said yeah, and
- 9:55Speaker 1: so he's built up the courage to he did that,
- 9:58Speaker 1: and so he's got to get his life sense in
- 10:00Speaker 1: order to get the car from his dad. He fails
- 10:03Speaker 1: the test, sneaks out with the car and crashes it.
- 10:07Speaker 1: He goes to his best friend, Corey Feldman to help
- 10:10Speaker 1: him fix it, and they go on an adventure so
- 10:13Speaker 1: he can have this ultimate date with had the Graham.
- 10:16Speaker 1: That's kind of a cliff note. She kind of passes
- 10:18Speaker 1: out and all of that stuff like that, and all
- 10:21Speaker 1: hell breaks loose. But that's the cliff notes, dude. It's
- 10:24Speaker 1: the same exact shit, dude, and you can't find and
- 10:27Speaker 1: you couldn't see the connection in it. And you directed
- 10:30Speaker 1: an episode that was so similar to that movie License
- 10:33Speaker 1: to Drive where we all met Heather Graham. Oh wow,
- 10:36Speaker 1: I didn't know that. I wonder. I wonder if that
- 10:38Speaker 1: was in Bill or Mike Schwartz, who wrote this episode's
- 10:41Speaker 1: mind at all. Since it's like an homage, Let's ask
- 10:44Speaker 1: Bill and or Mike Schwartz Bill, Mike Schwartz's Bill ahead, Bill,
- 10:52Speaker 1: is this a homage to License to Drive? The awesome
- 10:58Speaker 1: Corey movie that star Heathergram Hey fellas, Um, I never
- 11:03Speaker 1: saw License to Drive. I think the only movie I
- 11:07Speaker 1: saw what the quarries in it was Lost Boys, and
- 11:09Speaker 1: I have to watch that a lot because Krista dated
- 11:12Speaker 1: one of the Lost Boys back when she was younger,
- 11:14Speaker 1: So that needs to be pointed out to me a lot.
- 11:17Speaker 1: But not m License to Drive, though. There's so many
- 11:21Speaker 1: movies that are kind of an odyssey of can I
- 11:23Speaker 1: get from point A to point B? See you guys,
- 11:26Speaker 1: anything with two Quarries is as a special special film
- 11:31Speaker 1: lost Boys. Yeah, I can't beat it. All right, let's
- 11:34Speaker 1: get into it. So the show opens with a fantasy,
- 11:36Speaker 1: which I couldn't remember that ever happening. Do you recall?
- 11:40Speaker 1: And since we've been watching, if a show ever opened
- 11:42Speaker 1: with a fantasy? No, I didn't, I know, I did not. Yeah,
- 11:49Speaker 1: was it a fantasy? Yeah, they're all all these seniors
- 11:52Speaker 1: are having a party like, oh right, oh right, and
- 11:54Speaker 1: I thought it was right. Yes, I didn't. I don't
- 11:59Speaker 1: know that we've ever done that. Yeah, I didn't. I
- 12:01Speaker 1: don't recall. And then so I just and then and
- 12:03Speaker 1: then so we walk in and then everyone's parting. They
- 12:05Speaker 1: and then they hide, and then I see two feet
- 12:08Speaker 1: and I pull back the covers and there's two old
- 12:10Speaker 1: men cuddling and one of them goes like, going back
- 12:13Speaker 1: to your bed, Jerry, and he goes, I love you.
- 12:18Speaker 1: That was funny. And this is the I guess, the
- 12:20Speaker 1: first time we hear sows your face. Yeah, I guess.
- 12:23Speaker 1: So I was gonna say, this is a monumental moment
- 12:26Speaker 1: because I've used this for you loved my whole life
- 12:29Speaker 1: since So's your Face was introduced, you have really, really
- 12:32Speaker 1: stuck to sows your face since this moment. It's the
- 12:36Speaker 1: best comeback ever I've seen you use it on people
- 12:39Speaker 1: that are bothering you on your Instagram you say, so's
- 12:41Speaker 1: your face? And or Twitter, so is your face? It's
- 12:44Speaker 1: it's the best. I'm rubber your glue, you know what
- 12:47Speaker 1: I mean. It makes the person really think about what
- 12:49Speaker 1: they're gonna say after you say that, once they realize, oh,
- 12:55Speaker 1: so my face is that too? Once they realize, then
- 12:59Speaker 1: then and then some then like some of them, I
- 13:01Speaker 1: think Sarah says something like that doesn't even make any sense.
- 13:05Speaker 1: So's your face? So's your face? Always makes sense? It
- 13:08Speaker 1: just made But that doesn't even make sense. So's your face?
- 13:12Speaker 1: That makes sense? Right? That scene with them all dancing,
- 13:16Speaker 1: one of them is like one of them is doing curls.
- 13:18Speaker 1: It was really funny, like cocoon style. Now Molly's does
- 13:22Speaker 1: a crab cloth like crab claw to try and get
- 13:25Speaker 1: Sarah mad at her. Right, But you know what made
- 13:28Speaker 1: me laugh harder than crab claw was the mentally disturbed
- 13:33Speaker 1: man who runs in yeah and says he says, they're here,
- 13:38Speaker 1: ignite the tractor beam and she totally deadpan goes, I
- 13:43Speaker 1: should go that's my two o'clock. Yeah, but he didn't
- 13:50Speaker 1: have a shirt on either. He didn't have a shirt on,
- 13:52Speaker 1: and then he strikes a pose. What did he do?
- 13:54Speaker 1: He was like, he like hits like a cat. That
- 13:57Speaker 1: guy was amazing, really all it was funny. There's an
- 14:01Speaker 1: example of how an actor can come in and have
- 14:04Speaker 1: one sentence and just fucking kill it. That guy was hilarious.
- 14:08Speaker 1: It's very funny. I laughed out loud a lot in
- 14:11Speaker 1: this episode, you know, And while so while watching this,
- 14:14Speaker 1: in my mind, I'm like, Yo, who the fuck directed this?
- 14:16Speaker 1: At this point, I'm like, this ship is fucking hilarious.
- 14:19Speaker 1: And then I'm like, oh, I know, I knew, but
- 14:22Speaker 1: in my mind it was like, this is crazy. Who
- 14:25Speaker 1: directed this? Oh that's right, my boy z b Yeah
- 14:28Speaker 1: he did, Yeah he did. All right. Now listen, there's
- 14:32Speaker 1: so much that fucking happens in this In this first
- 14:34Speaker 1: even the cold open is so much to happen. So
- 14:36Speaker 1: then you get then then before you get to tide. Okay.
- 14:39Speaker 1: One of the funniest line exchanges in the Scrubs history, Sarah,
- 14:42Speaker 1: you actually ranked the women of this hospital by appearance,
- 14:46Speaker 1: and I go, calm down, twelve and she goes, yes,
- 14:49Speaker 1: top twenty. Yeah, yeah, I wanted it was funny. It
- 14:55Speaker 1: was funny, dude. It was the fact that Molly Clock
- 14:58Speaker 1: wasn't number one. Also and Nurse Tisdale's number one that
- 15:03Speaker 1: had me rolling. Also. Yeah, and we haven't seen Nursed
- 15:06Speaker 1: Tisdale in a while. I think the only time we
- 15:07Speaker 1: saw Nurse Tisdale, we talked about her a lot when
- 15:10Speaker 1: she did that when she walked down the Phoebe Kates. Yeah,
- 15:14Speaker 1: she's apparently the hottest, although gift Shop Girl was also.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I mean, there's there's a lot of hot them. But anyway,
- 15:22Speaker 1: but Carl is not on the list because she's married. Yeah,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you're so funny by the way you put your foot
- 15:26Speaker 1: in your mouth with Carla in so many funny ways.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And it's the first time is when you go, oh, baby,
- 15:32Speaker 1: we only ranked the single women. You actually ranked the
- 15:40Speaker 1: women in's hospital by appearance. Calm down twelve, yes, stop twenty.
- 15:44Speaker 1: That's it's hilarious, all right. Then we go to the
- 15:47Speaker 1: party that we're throwing and Elliott has bought Molly up
- 15:51Speaker 1: going away pinana that's shaped like it's missing, but it's missing,
- 15:55Speaker 1: but it's missing, and then we flashed to Todd, who says,
- 16:00Speaker 1: who says, it's getting late. The big dog wants some candy.
- 16:04Speaker 1: He's trying to fuck the pinata. He's sitting next to
- 16:07Speaker 1: the pinata. Yeah, and he says that. Yes. Now when
- 16:10Speaker 1: he comes into the party, his face is covered with chocolate. Sorry,
- 16:17Speaker 1: I'm late now to believe he ate the shit out
- 16:24Speaker 1: of right. But are we supposed to believe like he
- 16:27Speaker 1: made out with it or he No, he ate that
- 16:29Speaker 1: ship's asshole. Oh. I didn't know if it was Lingus
- 16:38Speaker 1: or Ana Lingus, but I think they joke is because
- 16:41Speaker 1: he has chocolate around his mouth that it's like, well,
- 16:45Speaker 1: it was either an Lingus or Cunlingus. But the point
- 16:47Speaker 1: is is that he went down on the pan hardcore.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I think it's safe to say that he may be
- 16:53Speaker 1: the first person in television industry to go down on
- 16:55Speaker 1: a Panada. I don't know. I don't know, Juell Google,
- 17:00Speaker 1: that's that's that's saying a lot turn my key for that. Well,
- 17:07Speaker 1: I don't want to fuck up your Google searches, so
- 17:09Speaker 1: don't look for that. They're far gone at this point.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I like the fact that at the I like the
- 17:15Speaker 1: fact that at the party j D true to his word,
- 17:19Speaker 1: drinking and appletini. Yes, yep. By the way, so at
- 17:24Speaker 1: the bar party, do you know who that beautiful woman
- 17:27Speaker 1: is that I'm talking to before the fire event. No,
- 17:31Speaker 1: that's Amy Ferguson, who in Garden State was the beautiful
- 17:35Speaker 1: girl at the ecstasy party that I hook up with.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You remember that, yes, I do. Well, it's funny. I'm
- 17:41Speaker 1: looking at the um French poster of Garden State that
- 17:45Speaker 1: I have in my office and it's it's got more
- 17:48Speaker 1: Amy Ferguson on it than Natalie, which is funny because
- 17:52Speaker 1: you know, Natalie's stunning. Um, but I think because the
- 17:57Speaker 1: movie had this sort of sexual moment with Amy Ferguson
- 18:00Speaker 1: and she's literally on the on this collage poster like
- 18:03Speaker 1: four times, so that you're saying Natalie's on once, but
- 18:07Speaker 1: Amy Ferguson's on like four times. So you're saying the
- 18:09Speaker 1: French like sex. I'm saying, yes, the French like to
- 18:13Speaker 1: sell sexy women more than any They made up the kiss.
- 18:16Speaker 1: They made up that kiss, or they made up the
- 18:19Speaker 1: French kiss. I don't know if they really did make
- 18:21Speaker 1: up the French kiss, but many they figured something out though,
- 18:24Speaker 1: that was a that's a great invention. Whoever made up
- 18:27Speaker 1: that the French it has to be When that was over.
- 18:31Speaker 1: When that when I when Garden State came out, so
- 18:32Speaker 1: many men would come up to me like, hey man,
- 18:34Speaker 1: love the movie. By the way, who's that girl? And anyway,
- 18:40Speaker 1: she was a friend of mine and Amy Ferguson and
- 18:42Speaker 1: so I now it's funny because now that I was
- 18:44Speaker 1: able to cast because I was directing, I put a
- 18:46Speaker 1: couple of my friends in and um, and so Amy's
- 18:49Speaker 1: the girl I'm flirting with at the bar. Okay, now
- 18:52Speaker 1: this fire thing, I want you to know how hard
- 18:54Speaker 1: this was to shoot because I am literally on fire
- 19:00Speaker 1: and we did. We did one of these cowboy switches
- 19:03Speaker 1: that we've told you about, where so when I first
- 19:06Speaker 1: catch on fire because it dug in his fire shots,
- 19:09Speaker 1: that's literally me on fire. I had. I had the
- 19:12Speaker 1: whole fucking thing they put on you. They put on
- 19:15Speaker 1: this these layers and layers of anti flame returnant gel
- 19:20Speaker 1: and then like, um, I don't know, it's almost like
- 19:24Speaker 1: sweatsuit material, and then another layer is just for your back.
- 19:27Speaker 1: This is just from my back. Because they were like
- 19:30Speaker 1: will you do this? And I was like yeah, I'll
- 19:31Speaker 1: go for it. I'll do it. It was really scary.
- 19:33Speaker 1: The stuntmen were incredible. Your hair, dude, that's all I
- 19:37Speaker 1: was worried. I was like, I had I had the gel. Allah,
- 19:40Speaker 1: you have the gel all over all over your hair.
- 19:42Speaker 1: And so what happens is in the stunt I then
- 19:46Speaker 1: ran to the bathroom, if you recall, and then we
- 19:49Speaker 1: cut and what's all real on camera is for this.
- 19:52Speaker 1: For part two, the stunt man, incredible stunt man did
- 19:56Speaker 1: a full burn. That is to say, every single thing
- 19:58Speaker 1: on his body that's all real, that's not augmented at all.
- 20:01Speaker 1: When you watch him running on fire, you remember this Donald,
- 20:04Speaker 1: And then I was hiding down for part two. I
- 20:07Speaker 1: was hiding below, all made up to look like I'm burnt.
- 20:10Speaker 1: And then he comes in, running through, falls down and
- 20:13Speaker 1: then I pop and then Donald sprays um with the
- 20:16Speaker 1: fire extinguisher and then I pop up burnt and I'm
- 20:20Speaker 1: talking about her because she was talking about her nephew
- 20:23Speaker 1: or something. I'm like, yeah, that's a crazy age and
- 20:25Speaker 1: I sit my apple teeny um. So it was crazy
- 20:30Speaker 1: and it's just funny. It's just all I could think
- 20:33Speaker 1: of when I was watching. It was This is the
- 20:35Speaker 1: ultimate example of Bill Lawrence competitiveness. He's like, no, no, no,
- 20:39Speaker 1: it'll be great, it'd be great. Um, you're gonna direct,
- 20:41Speaker 1: so in one of the early scenes, you're gonna be
- 20:44Speaker 1: on fully on fire, right, Well, just that, and it's
- 20:49Speaker 1: it's you. You laugh because it's like you're set on fire.
- 20:53Speaker 1: But if you really think about what it takes to
- 20:56Speaker 1: have to do that for a scene and how much
- 20:59Speaker 1: time takes the safety protocol. Also, there were so many
- 21:03Speaker 1: people in the area, you know, I remember if I
- 21:08Speaker 1: remember the stuntman band like Donald, you gotta put me out, dude,
- 21:13Speaker 1: like giving me the dude, you have to spread because
- 21:16Speaker 1: you But I think someone else was another stuntman was
- 21:18Speaker 1: off camera helping you, right, or it wasn't just all you.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I'm not exactly I'm not exactly sure. I do remember
- 21:24Speaker 1: the look in my eye like you got this right
- 21:27Speaker 1: type shit? You know what I mean. I mean, it's
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'd never I'd never seen a stuntman do something like
- 21:33Speaker 1: that in person. Obviously we've all seen it in the movies.
- 21:35Speaker 1: It was fucking insane that he did that, that someone
- 21:39Speaker 1: would do that. I think the gel and the covering
- 21:42Speaker 1: buys you like, I don't know what the time is,
- 21:45Speaker 1: like thirty seconds. I mean, I'm sure people, but he
- 21:47Speaker 1: didn't do it. He didn't do it just once. He
- 21:49Speaker 1: did it a couple of times. He was the one.
- 21:51Speaker 1: He did it one time with us with the wide shot,
- 21:55Speaker 1: and then he did it and he did it again,
- 21:57Speaker 1: like there were several cameras. But I remember watching him
- 22:00Speaker 1: do it also, and then I remember stepping in and
- 22:02Speaker 1: doing the scary spray also, Yeah, dude, it was. But
- 22:07Speaker 1: but it's so fucking funny. I mean, cut into the
- 22:10Speaker 1: thing with the cowboy switch and me just popping up.
- 22:12Speaker 1: So yeah, seven, that's a crazy age with the burn
- 22:16Speaker 1: mark sole over my face, right, I really love that.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I'm proud of how great that that still looks this
- 22:23Speaker 1: this many years later. It looks fucking flawless. Amazing, amazing.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Um um. What about the fact that you don't know
- 22:30Speaker 1: that your wife is Dominican and and this is going
- 22:32Speaker 1: to be a recurring theme when we get to the musical.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Obviously he thinks she's Puerto Rican so much. When we
- 22:39Speaker 1: get to the musical for the last time, Turk, I'm Dominican.
- 22:43Speaker 1: If you know Puerto Rican and Dominicans that's an issue too.
- 22:46Speaker 1: You know, in New York City, I'm not The Dominicans
- 22:51Speaker 1: are like, I'm not Puerto Rican, I'm Dominican, And Puerto
- 22:54Speaker 1: Ricans are like, I'm not Dominican, I'm Puerto Rican. That's
- 22:57Speaker 1: real talk. You blame it on me, which is funny.
- 23:00Speaker 1: You go, yeah, I guess, but well, guess what you
- 23:02Speaker 1: were wrong. Guess what helps you were wrong about? Carlos
- 23:06Speaker 1: Definican like you were you were relying on me to
- 23:09Speaker 1: know what your wife is. Yeah, like like one night
- 23:13Speaker 1: we were hanging out and and and I was like,
- 23:16Speaker 1: I w what's my what's my wife? Like we were
- 23:20Speaker 1: they had to be baked, they couldn't be baked. But
- 23:22Speaker 1: it's like, what's my wife? What's my wife's nationality? What
- 23:25Speaker 1: is where is she from? You're like, dude, trust me,
- 23:29Speaker 1: she's Puerto Rican. She's Puerto Rican, Turk, I know this.
- 23:31Speaker 1: You're sure about this? Yes, I trust me, trust me,
- 23:35Speaker 1: she's Puerto Rican. You rely on them? Well you know
- 23:38Speaker 1: what you were wrong about? Oh my god? All right,
- 23:44Speaker 1: so then God bless Molly's everywhere. Someone paid the license
- 23:48Speaker 1: sixteen candles, thank you? Right now? That scene in sixteen
- 23:53Speaker 1: Candles um I remember my sister. My sister loved them.
- 23:57Speaker 1: We both love them. My sister, like so many um
- 24:01Speaker 1: women and gay men loved Jake Ryan from sixteen Candles.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Whatever happened to Jake Ryan man? You know, I think
- 24:11Speaker 1: he got out of the business because he stopped working.
- 24:14Speaker 1: But he I mean, so many women were like, yeah,
- 24:18Speaker 1: that's accurate, Jake Ryan, that that's what I want. He
- 24:22Speaker 1: was like the typical looking New England dude. Yo. Like
- 24:26Speaker 1: that was like he was like an Abercromian Fitch model,
- 24:30Speaker 1: right Like, if we're not there, I think I think
- 24:34Speaker 1: he could have played Captain him. He would have been
- 24:36Speaker 1: Captain America back then. Chris Evans is like the Jake
- 24:40Speaker 1: Ryan now, you know what I mean? Like they got
- 24:42Speaker 1: that similar look, the dark hair, the blue eyes. Okay,
- 24:45Speaker 1: here's a little something from from jewel Um. Michael Chauffling
- 24:51Speaker 1: is his name. His final acting credit was in the
- 24:55Speaker 1: nineteen ninety one film Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken. He's
- 24:58Speaker 1: since retired from acting and resig in Pennsylvania with his wife.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Not much is known about his life now, but he
- 25:03Speaker 1: does own a woodworking shop. He I just feel like
- 25:07Speaker 1: every girl I knew had a crush on that guy. Yeah.
- 25:11Speaker 1: So anyway, there he is kissing Molly Ringwold at the
- 25:13Speaker 1: end of the movie, and I say, God bless Molly,
- 25:16Speaker 1: and God bless Molly's everywhere. Now. It's just it's been
- 25:20Speaker 1: interesting that we have an extra Molly because we have
- 25:22Speaker 1: the delightful, hilarious Molly Shannon as a guest star on
- 25:25Speaker 1: this episode. She was so great, dude. Okay, had she
- 25:31Speaker 1: started doing dramatic stuff yet, I don't know. It's a
- 25:36Speaker 1: good question, but she Joel is gonna look. But I
- 25:40Speaker 1: gotta tell you, Donald, there is no better example of
- 25:44Speaker 1: a guest star bringing it. She steals. She steals a show, dude,
- 25:49Speaker 1: She steals a show. She's incredible. She steals a show. Dude.
- 25:53Speaker 1: It made me want to hire her to work with
- 25:55Speaker 1: me and something new. Everyone's hiring her, she's she's doing great.
- 25:59Speaker 1: But I just want to work with her again, just
- 26:01Speaker 1: reminding me how good she is. She steals the show, dude,
- 26:05Speaker 1: Like it's it's I love the the nostalgia of watching
- 26:11Speaker 1: what Turk and j D go through, so that h
- 26:15Speaker 1: JD can have that one moment with Molly at the end.
- 26:19Speaker 1: But and and the music at the end also phenomenal.
- 26:23Speaker 1: But what Molly Shannon does is like it's great, man,
- 26:28Speaker 1: she does the John Candy trained plains and automo yes,
- 26:32Speaker 1: like it's like it's that's a hard character to do
- 26:38Speaker 1: because it usually comes off very obnoxious. Of course, the
- 26:42Speaker 1: trick of that character is can you be that annoying
- 26:44Speaker 1: but have the audience like you? I mean, that's the challenge.
- 26:48Speaker 1: She nails it because you're you're partially watching through Johnny
- 26:52Speaker 1: and that scene where she's in the house with Christa
- 26:54Speaker 1: and Johnny c is very funny, but you're partially watching
- 26:59Speaker 1: from the john you see from the Coxs point of
- 27:01Speaker 1: you and being like, oh my god, this fucking woman.
- 27:03Speaker 1: But you can't. But she's so fucking charming still because
- 27:06Speaker 1: what Molly brings to it, you just like her and
- 27:08Speaker 1: you root for And that's even before you find out
- 27:11Speaker 1: what happened to her kid at the end, which is well,
- 27:14Speaker 1: if you let's sit there, we'll get there to that turn.
- 27:16Speaker 1: But that was beautiful. She was She's so wonderful on
- 27:19Speaker 1: this uh on on on the show. Um and and
- 27:23Speaker 1: that was really cool. Also, do you want to ask
- 27:26Speaker 1: me a question? Pretend pretend that I'm a Molly and
- 27:28Speaker 1: I came on the show. Just say, we'll say, what
- 27:30Speaker 1: was it like to work on the show? No, Molly,
- 27:33Speaker 1: what would it like to work with Zach Braff? He's
- 27:37Speaker 1: a very good director. I really like it when he
- 27:41Speaker 1: gave me good notes. That's Molly, that's yeah. I know
- 27:50Speaker 1: it's similar to DJ college, but and they're in netwall Um.
- 28:00Speaker 1: How about ice tongue? So JD is apparently runs to
- 28:04Speaker 1: the kitchen when he's making out with In the World
- 28:07Speaker 1: of Scrubs, JD is making out with other Graham and
- 28:12Speaker 1: decides that he's going to run to the refrigerator freezer
- 28:15Speaker 1: to grab ice because he thinks that ladies like ice tongue.
- 28:20Speaker 1: I like ice tongue, really, I've never ice tongued tongue.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Ice tongue is when you're like drinking, when you're drinking
- 28:30Speaker 1: soda or something that requires it to be cold with ice,
- 28:37Speaker 1: and then after you let the ice hit your tongue,
- 28:40Speaker 1: you kiss somebody who doesn't have that in their mouth.
- 28:43Speaker 1: There that doesn't have the cold feeling in their mouth.
- 28:46Speaker 1: And sometimes it's refreshing. It's way more so. You never
- 28:53Speaker 1: heard of it. That was, Yes, it's way more refreshing
- 28:57Speaker 1: than smoked tongue. Yeah, all right, you know it's way
- 29:02Speaker 1: more refreshing than smoke and mint tongue too. Um yeah,
- 29:07Speaker 1: but okay, So, I guess it's one thing if you're
- 29:09Speaker 1: making out with your person and you have a cold
- 29:11Speaker 1: drink in your hand and you make your tongue cold. Okay,
- 29:14Speaker 1: this guy's running to the kitchen to play. He's using it. Yeah,
- 29:17Speaker 1: he's using it as a as a method of seduction. Yeah, yes,
- 29:21Speaker 1: along with olive oil on his lips. Yes? Who told
- 29:25Speaker 1: him that was a good idea? I have no idea.
- 29:27Speaker 1: It's so funny. All Right, we're gonna take a break,
- 29:29Speaker 1: and when we come back, we're gonna talk about JD
- 29:31Speaker 1: put an olive oil on his lips. The hand. We're back,
- 29:42Speaker 1: We're back. Maria Antoinette. Molly Shannon's first dramatic role was
- 29:47Speaker 1: in two thousand and six Maria Antoinette. I didn't know
- 29:50Speaker 1: she was in. That must have been Sofia Coppola's movie
- 29:52Speaker 1: with Kirsten Dunst. Perhaps I don't know. Yes, Um, well,
- 29:58Speaker 1: Molly Shannon and I mean that was just an incredible performance.
- 30:04Speaker 1: We're gonna get to the end, which which gets even better.
- 30:06Speaker 1: We'll get that later. Yeah, what about Schinsky? Let's talk
- 30:09Speaker 1: about sin Yeah, let us talk about Shinsky. So it
- 30:12Speaker 1: didn't kill him, No, it didn't kill him. He falls
- 30:15Speaker 1: off the roof, the roll that's our hospital roof. That
- 30:17Speaker 1: that that clearly someone just they put they put a
- 30:20Speaker 1: different wall on it. But that's originally I originally I
- 30:24Speaker 1: do believe it did kill Shinsky. And they change that,
- 30:27Speaker 1: didn't they? Yes, I think Shinsky died and then someone
- 30:30Speaker 1: decided to soften it. Maybe they didn't want JD responsible
- 30:33Speaker 1: for killing someone. I wasn't really responsible. I just threw
- 30:36Speaker 1: him a beer. It's not my fall. He fell off
- 30:37Speaker 1: the fucking roof. Well, he reached. It was a bad throw.
- 30:40Speaker 1: It was a bad throw. But do you really think
- 30:42Speaker 1: that that's what they softened it? They're like, because it is,
- 30:45Speaker 1: it is corrected in voiceover that I go, I go.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Chinsky didn't die that day, but our friendship did Hinsky?
- 30:55Speaker 1: I mean shit, where the fuck did Shinsky come from?
- 30:59Speaker 1: Came from? I got the full mullet. You've got your
- 31:02Speaker 1: high top fade. It's not even a fade, it's look. Look,
- 31:06Speaker 1: I love the fact because this is real talk, and
- 31:08Speaker 1: a lot of my brothers out there know exactly what
- 31:11Speaker 1: I'm talking about. You get the fresh cut when you're young.
- 31:18Speaker 1: A lot of us don't got money like that to
- 31:21Speaker 1: get another fresh cut the next week or the next
- 31:24Speaker 1: cut in the next couple of days. So sometimes you
- 31:27Speaker 1: would go a month, month and a half, two months
- 31:32Speaker 1: without a fresh cut. If you look at Turk's hair,
- 31:36Speaker 1: that's Turk's hair. He didn't have money for a fresh cut,
- 31:42Speaker 1: so his fade is no longer. It's still got the
- 31:44Speaker 1: box shape, but it's damn near in Afro do you
- 31:48Speaker 1: remember do you remember when you were when they were
- 31:51Speaker 1: picking those wigs that do you remember thinking like, oh,
- 31:54Speaker 1: this needs to be cleaned up, or it's funny like that.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I was like, why can't we use the one from
- 31:58Speaker 1: the pilot because the one in the pilot is sick
- 32:00Speaker 1: and they were like, no, it just doesn't look realistic enough.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I was like, this ship doesn't look realistic. I used
- 32:07Speaker 1: to be so mad, but they were like, it's funny.
- 32:09Speaker 1: I'm sorry, this is what it's kind of. It was funny,
- 32:11Speaker 1: but I didn't, you know, for someone who doesn't have
- 32:14Speaker 1: that kind of hair, I didn't. It was always lops.
- 32:16Speaker 1: I used to hate when I had to put that
- 32:18Speaker 1: on because it was all I thought. It was so funny. Well,
- 32:22Speaker 1: we're not supposed to look good, dudek my fucking mullet, dude,
- 32:25Speaker 1: no doubt hindsight being twenty twenty, Well, I thought I
- 32:27Speaker 1: was thinking, kidn't play high top fate. Hindsight being twenty twenty,
- 32:32Speaker 1: it is hilarious when I look back at it now.
- 32:35Speaker 1: But that being said, right at the moment in time,
- 32:40Speaker 1: I was like, I just want a fresh cut. Please
- 32:42Speaker 1: give me a fresh cut. I don't know why they
- 32:44Speaker 1: couldn't clean. Can't you clean a wig up? Can't you
- 32:47Speaker 1: like how didn't shape it? Dude? My wig anomics is
- 32:51Speaker 1: not really high. I don't have a high wig anomics. Cue.
- 32:57Speaker 1: I don't know what that means. You mean your wig
- 32:58Speaker 1: knowledge or wiganomics. It's a science, due all right? Now?
- 33:04Speaker 1: How about when I push you in the fucking bushes?
- 33:06Speaker 1: That shit's hilarious because Molly tells me she only is
- 33:10Speaker 1: attracted to like troubled guys. I go on this huge
- 33:13Speaker 1: monologue about how fucked up my life is and how
- 33:15Speaker 1: I'm very well done too. Not only did you have
- 33:17Speaker 1: to direct, but you had to deliver a heartfelt need
- 33:22Speaker 1: to get that ass monologue. You need to get that
- 33:24Speaker 1: ass monologue. That is the ultimate example of like say
- 33:27Speaker 1: whatever you got to say to get the girl to
- 33:31Speaker 1: get that ass. It to go to get that ass,
- 33:34Speaker 1: Dad asked, I mean, first of all, let's talk about
- 33:37Speaker 1: how there's two moments in this where I was called
- 33:40Speaker 1: upon to shoot Heather. Talk about a good directing assignment
- 33:43Speaker 1: for your first TV job. In the script, there's two
- 33:47Speaker 1: moments that are sort of sexual fantasies about Heather Graham.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Will you be able to accomplish those? Uh, mister director, Yeah,
- 33:55Speaker 1: I got this, but she gives it to you at
- 33:59Speaker 1: the end too. But the innocent version of it. Oh,
- 34:03Speaker 1: you know what I mean? What about the stretch with
- 34:05Speaker 1: the thong. I mean, I'm sorry to sound like a
- 34:07Speaker 1: teenage boy, but when she does the yawn stretch with
- 34:09Speaker 1: the thongs showing. Yeah, but it's it's the lip bite,
- 34:13Speaker 1: the lip bite. You know, I'm a sucker for a
- 34:15Speaker 1: lip bite. I must spressed that I don't know if
- 34:16Speaker 1: she was throwing and left left lip bites left and
- 34:19Speaker 1: right without me. Well, she she's always done it. I'm
- 34:21Speaker 1: telling you. Look at license to drive like lip bites
- 34:25Speaker 1: and license to drive and in swingers and come on, dude,
- 34:28Speaker 1: I didn't my Heather Graham was a lip biter. It's
- 34:31Speaker 1: like it was like a signature type of thing. So
- 34:33Speaker 1: you asked her to do it. She does it for
- 34:35Speaker 1: you when the sexual fantasy, and then she gives it
- 34:39Speaker 1: to you at the end when it's the goodbye so long,
- 34:43Speaker 1: and it's even better because it's the cute. You know,
- 34:46Speaker 1: it could have been us. It could have been us.
- 34:48Speaker 1: But I am such a I am such a That's
- 34:50Speaker 1: my kryptonite. I'm a sucker for the for the lip bite. Dude.
- 34:55Speaker 1: It's man, you captured all of the look man, it's
- 34:59Speaker 1: and it's not because I love you. It is what
- 35:02Speaker 1: I do what I do. But you captured all of
- 35:04Speaker 1: the great moments from my youth that I love about movies.
- 35:08Speaker 1: If I walk away from a movie feeling like this,
- 35:11Speaker 1: like this is almost like la la land, you know
- 35:13Speaker 1: what I mean? What if they would That's the highest
- 35:15Speaker 1: praise there is from you. No, but think about it.
- 35:17Speaker 1: What if they would have gotten together, you know what
- 35:19Speaker 1: I mean? And then and then and then Elliott would
- 35:23Speaker 1: have never the whole thing with Elliot would have never happened.
- 35:27Speaker 1: It's such an important moment in and JD doesn't even
- 35:31Speaker 1: realize it. It's such an important moment in the JD
- 35:34Speaker 1: Elliott relationship. Her sleep. It's obvious her sleeping, which your
- 35:39Speaker 1: brother isn't going to ruin the relationship for the two
- 35:42Speaker 1: of you, but you're sleeping with her best friend, with
- 35:45Speaker 1: her mentor would fucking devastate her. I know we're being
- 35:50Speaker 1: so it's like more the roses. I mean, Elliot and
- 35:52Speaker 1: I are fucking going for broke in terms of fucking
- 35:55Speaker 1: with each other. She fucked my brother, now I'm trying
- 35:58Speaker 1: to sleep with her fucking men tour. It's like it's
- 36:02Speaker 1: like war. Yeah, yeah, it's Oh, it's such a great
- 36:07Speaker 1: It's such a great I mean, like, dude, you did
- 36:10Speaker 1: you did a really good job. This is well directed
- 36:13Speaker 1: and kudos to the crew. Kudos to the who wrote
- 36:16Speaker 1: this episode. It's Mike Schwartz. I mean, you know how
- 36:18Speaker 1: it goes all they all work on it, but Mike
- 36:20Speaker 1: is the head writer on the Kudos to the writers.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Kudos Mike Schwartz, Like well edited. Everything was well edited,
- 36:26Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like it's it's lit well
- 36:30Speaker 1: it's I mean, it's an epic adventure yeah, and Scrubs
- 36:35Speaker 1: that but that fits this before we went off the rails,
- 36:39Speaker 1: before We're crazy out of control, it's an epic adventure
- 36:42Speaker 1: that still fits the Scrubs mold. After this season, we're gone, dude,
- 36:49Speaker 1: It's like, what do you mean you feel like the
- 36:52Speaker 1: tone changed in season five? I think we get so
- 36:55Speaker 1: whacky by the time, Like we're starting to show you
- 36:59Speaker 1: whackiness here, like if we're if if if we're dealing
- 37:03Speaker 1: out little bits of wackiness here by the time we
- 37:06Speaker 1: get to the by the time we have season five season, dude,
- 37:10Speaker 1: my hand freezes and I use it to come to
- 37:16Speaker 1: on my wife's head and when she's pregnant an ice pack.
- 37:22Speaker 1: As I know, But we have, we've we've we've already
- 37:24Speaker 1: talked about there's moments where like it's so the show's
- 37:27Speaker 1: already been so surreal it gets I don't know, Maybe
- 37:30Speaker 1: you're right, I I honestly don't remember what happens, dude.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Our bigger Listen, our big adventures after this aren't this.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Our big adventures after this, our musicals. Our big adventures
- 37:40Speaker 1: are Wizard of Oz homages, and our our big adventures
- 37:43Speaker 1: after this, our fantasies to you know, like, uh, um,
- 37:49Speaker 1: this that was what we were spending money on. After that,
- 37:51Speaker 1: we got really uh what's the word I'm looking for? Silly? No,
- 37:56Speaker 1: not so, we got special effects, see you know what
- 37:59Speaker 1: I mean, Like it just got everything got really, it
- 38:02Speaker 1: got brighter, we got shiny all of a sudden. When
- 38:04Speaker 1: it became the special episode, this still fit the mold
- 38:08Speaker 1: of this is what Scrubs look like. We were still
- 38:11Speaker 1: you know, I don't know, man, I don't know how
- 38:12Speaker 1: to explain it. Well, you just love it. How about
- 38:15Speaker 1: that scooter stunt into the wall? Now, I remember saying
- 38:18Speaker 1: to the stunt man, because I was directing and also
- 38:22Speaker 1: supposed to be on the scooter, that you've somehow fixed
- 38:25Speaker 1: all like Turtain knows how to fix scooters. I remember
- 38:29Speaker 1: saying to him, like, so, how do we do this,
- 38:31Speaker 1: Like how do we make sure you don't get hurt?
- 38:34Speaker 1: He's like, well, I really just have to drive it
- 38:36Speaker 1: into the wall. And I was like, um, yeah, there's
- 38:39Speaker 1: no like, there's nothing really to be done to ensure
- 38:42Speaker 1: your safety. And he's like, no, I'm just gonna drive
- 38:45Speaker 1: the scooter in the wall. Because he does. I mean,
- 38:51Speaker 1: I don't know if we sped it up a tiny bit,
- 38:53Speaker 1: maybe in post, but he just fucking drives that scooter
- 38:56Speaker 1: in the wall and it hits the wall straight up,
- 38:58Speaker 1: and then there's blood on the wall, and the janitor's pissed.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Is this your head blood? Is this your head blood? Now?
- 39:04Speaker 1: That was fucking now. First of all, it's in addition
- 39:06Speaker 1: to all the things that made this epic, we had
- 39:08Speaker 1: to go out to the middle of nowhere to do
- 39:11Speaker 1: this place where the janitor drops me off. Do you
- 39:13Speaker 1: remember we went there. I don't know where that was,
- 39:16Speaker 1: but I remember that it felt like we were running
- 39:18Speaker 1: on a track when we were running. No, no, we were.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I remember we location scouted for it, and it was
- 39:23Speaker 1: you know, we were looking for it has to feel
- 39:24Speaker 1: like middle of fucking nowhere. And we shot it at night, obviously,
- 39:29Speaker 1: and I remember it just being I remember we had
- 39:33Speaker 1: a crane because there's some cool crane shots. But I
- 39:35Speaker 1: remember laughing so hard at so many things. The janitor
- 39:39Speaker 1: pushes me out of the van and I'm like, what
- 39:41Speaker 1: are you doing? And he goes, it's been four years.
- 39:44Speaker 1: How do you not get how this works? You know?
- 39:47Speaker 1: Because he's just leaving me in the middle of nowhere.
- 39:50Speaker 1: It was a great, it's it's how you get stranded
- 39:54Speaker 1: this look, man, I can't say this enough. You've You've
- 40:02Speaker 1: made your point. It's it reminds me of license to drive. No,
- 40:05Speaker 1: but how do you make this? How do you make
- 40:07Speaker 1: this show with all these ridiculous look like, dude, it's
- 40:12Speaker 1: the scope of this. Where did we shoot this? Tell me? Please?
- 40:16Speaker 1: I know that. I mean, I'm sure it was you know,
- 40:19Speaker 1: within a half hour from the hospital and in the
- 40:22Speaker 1: valley that this this this middle of nowhere moment. And
- 40:26Speaker 1: then it had to be a park. It was a park.
- 40:28Speaker 1: It had to be a park. Well, I know there's
- 40:30Speaker 1: like fucked up cars and shit. We added that. I
- 40:32Speaker 1: don't think there was any like garbage there and stuff.
- 40:34Speaker 1: We added that stuff. But dude, so, how funny is
- 40:36Speaker 1: I call you and I calling on my cell phone
- 40:41Speaker 1: and and then what happens? You're checking your diabetes right,
- 40:47Speaker 1: and I say, come here, I need you, and then
- 40:49Speaker 1: Judy come and Judy drives you, and then what happened?
- 40:54Speaker 1: You say something that I said? So she says, She says,
- 40:56Speaker 1: I can't believe he's doing this for sex, and I go,
- 40:59Speaker 1: it's not for sex, it's for sex with Molly shit,
- 41:02Speaker 1: I'd kill someone to have sex with Molly. Yeah, and
- 41:04Speaker 1: you're my wife. Sorry, your wife's not really down with that.
- 41:09Speaker 1: She's like, that's it, and she drives off, leaving us. Yeah,
- 41:14Speaker 1: and then you come back and then you come to
- 41:16Speaker 1: me and and and I'm like, yo, what were you
- 41:20Speaker 1: doing all the way out there? And you're treat back Kyle.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I was like, oh, you got your phone? He took it.
- 41:29Speaker 1: And then we're running in the field. That's hilarious. My
- 41:33Speaker 1: outfits too tight, mine constricting, contracting, my too lots. And
- 41:40Speaker 1: then we switch much better. And then you're like, you're
- 41:43Speaker 1: like and then you're like, I don't think I can
- 41:45Speaker 1: make it, and I'm like, just think about just think
- 41:48Speaker 1: about Molly. And then you cut to the fantasy and
- 41:50Speaker 1: then you start running really fast. Now that's what I'm
- 41:54Speaker 1: talking about. By the way, you look ripped that This
- 41:58Speaker 1: is back then. This is when I thought I was fat.
- 42:00Speaker 1: This is when you weren't fat. Man, Your body looks
- 42:03Speaker 1: I wish I looked like like Tay Diggs. Baby, I
- 42:05Speaker 1: wish I looked like that. Still you look fierce. Um,
- 42:09Speaker 1: I don't. I've never heard a coyote called a kyote.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Is that a thing. Yeah, sure, all right, but it's
- 42:16Speaker 1: never and I never heard the expression being treated by something.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Have you heard that? Yeah, like I roofed it or
- 42:26Speaker 1: you treat that shit. I never heard that before. But
- 42:29Speaker 1: there's something so funny about saying that was treat I
- 42:32Speaker 1: was treated by that kyote? Did you you improvise that
- 42:35Speaker 1: shit too? If I remember correctly right, I don't think
- 42:39Speaker 1: I mean it may have been a One thing that
- 42:41Speaker 1: was great about this episode, by the way, is um
- 42:45Speaker 1: I do have some jokes, and that for the first
- 42:46Speaker 1: time ever, I had some jokes that were written in
- 42:49Speaker 1: because we we scheduled me directing this. Obviously, a director
- 42:54Speaker 1: needs a week to prep, so we would when every
- 42:57Speaker 1: time I directed any of the Scrubs episodes I directed,
- 43:00Speaker 1: it would come after a hiatus week that we had
- 43:02Speaker 1: so I could have that prior week to prep. And
- 43:05Speaker 1: one of the great things about prepping was when I
- 43:07Speaker 1: wasn't off location scouting or casting or doing other things
- 43:10Speaker 1: directors do, um Bill was totally down and and welcoming
- 43:14Speaker 1: me into the writer's room. So I would sit with
- 43:16Speaker 1: the writers on my episodes and pitch jokes just like
- 43:20Speaker 1: everybody else. And so I do have a handful that
- 43:22Speaker 1: got in here. But I can't take credit for treat
- 43:24Speaker 1: by Kayote because I didn't even heard that expression before.
- 43:26Speaker 1: It's hilarious. We may have made up. We may have
- 43:30Speaker 1: made up. He took it together at your phone, he
- 43:36Speaker 1: took it. He took it, um JD. Where are you hurry?
- 43:41Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, I remember when I remember when we
- 43:43Speaker 1: were shooting that. Um Bill came down to set and
- 43:47Speaker 1: he was like, oh my god, I do remember this.
- 43:52Speaker 1: It's like, I'm talking for a second. What did he expect?
- 43:57Speaker 1: What did you expect me? Did he take you aside?
- 44:01Speaker 1: Was he like, yeo, hold on, come here? But I remember, dick.
- 44:04Speaker 1: He was being a dick because obviously, but it was
- 44:06Speaker 1: it was out of control though we had been on
- 44:09Speaker 1: that like I was there, Like, I don't know why
- 44:13Speaker 1: you were there. There was no reason for you to
- 44:14Speaker 1: be there. Why were you visiting set that moment? Because
- 44:17Speaker 1: we were shooting. It was still shooting. We were still shooting, dude.
- 44:19Speaker 1: We had to shoot all of that in one day.
- 44:21Speaker 1: We had to shoot her. No, I'm talking about her
- 44:23Speaker 1: in bed going j D. That's the that's the bedroom
- 44:27Speaker 1: next door to the to the um that's your bedroom.
- 44:32Speaker 1: That's the apartment room. So we shot all of the
- 44:34Speaker 1: apartment stuff that day, so I don't know remembers. It
- 44:38Speaker 1: was a really embarrassing moment because, first of all, it
- 44:41Speaker 1: was written in the script that this Molly and Lingerie
- 44:44Speaker 1: is calling from me, all right, but of course, you know,
- 44:48Speaker 1: Bill comes to set and I've got like Heather Graham
- 44:50Speaker 1: and Lingerie in bed doing her lip bites, and the
- 44:53Speaker 1: and the cameras dollying in and there's like atmosphere smoke
- 44:56Speaker 1: in the air, and I remember building like, oh my god,
- 44:59Speaker 1: what are you doing, like trying to try to embarrass
- 45:01Speaker 1: me in front of the crew, like I'm something like
- 45:04Speaker 1: I don't know, fucking pervert, but I'm like you wrote it, bro,
- 45:07Speaker 1: I'm just fucking executing this ship. Very funny and very
- 45:10Speaker 1: very funny for the joke. Yeah, and she, you know,
- 45:13Speaker 1: she was so game to like, you know, Heather, you
- 45:15Speaker 1: could have someone like Heather, who's who's been a sex
- 45:17Speaker 1: symbol type for so long and who could say like, oh,
- 45:19Speaker 1: come on, I'm gona do another one of these like
- 45:22Speaker 1: blonde bombshell fantasy things. But she was like so in
- 45:26Speaker 1: on the joke and fun about it. You ever see
- 45:28Speaker 1: both Finger. Oh my god, I love both Finger. I
- 45:33Speaker 1: mean he goes when when when Eddie goes, You're doing
- 45:35Speaker 1: it great, You're doing great, You're gonna be a big star.
- 45:40Speaker 1: I gotta rewatch Movinger. I only thought it once. What, Yeah,
- 45:45Speaker 1: you you've seen it more than once. Oh my goodness,
- 45:47Speaker 1: I've seen that movie so many times. I never thought
- 45:50Speaker 1: I'd ever see a movie with two people like Eddie
- 45:53Speaker 1: Murphy and uh, Steve Martin. I thought Eddie Murphy had
- 45:57Speaker 1: gotten to the point where he didn't have to do
- 45:59Speaker 1: movies with people like that anymore, Like he was enough.
- 46:03Speaker 1: But Eddie, first of all, he steals the movie. But
- 46:07Speaker 1: Steve Martin carries the movie. You know what I mean? Yeah,
- 46:10Speaker 1: it's really again, I remember laughing so hard. It's really interesting.
- 46:14Speaker 1: It's really it's really I get the dynamic of the
- 46:18Speaker 1: of having the two now, like when you had Sydney
- 46:21Speaker 1: Potier and Bill Cosby Doo movies together, I get the dynamic.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Or when you have like Vince Vaughan and and and
- 46:27Speaker 1: and Jon Favreau, do I get or Zach Braff and
- 46:30Speaker 1: Donald Faison, I get the I get the dynamic. You
- 46:32Speaker 1: know what I mean? I I it took. I just
- 46:40Speaker 1: get the dynamic and I and I thank Eddie Murphy
- 46:43Speaker 1: and and uh Steve Martin for that. Like, well, if
- 46:46Speaker 1: you haven't seen Both Finger our our friends listeners, check
- 46:51Speaker 1: it out. It's laugh out loud funny. And Eddie Murphy
- 46:53Speaker 1: plays twins, right, he does play twins. He plays Kit
- 46:57Speaker 1: and he plays his twin brother. And the nerdy one
- 47:01Speaker 1: is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Well, the dialogue
- 47:04Speaker 1: that Kit has is really funny. Also, dude like, like,
- 47:09Speaker 1: you know, he's he's a part of this religious cult
- 47:11Speaker 1: and the reason why he's a part of it because
- 47:14Speaker 1: he's going crazy. Hears a voice in his head and
- 47:17Speaker 1: they're like, well, what's the boys say to you? Kit?
- 47:20Speaker 1: He's like, as I sit here before you, the Laker
- 47:25Speaker 1: girls must be taken down a pega two. Oh my god,
- 47:38Speaker 1: you're making me. I'm gonna watch this movie tonight. You're
- 47:40Speaker 1: reminding me how funny. It's so good man, it's so funny.
- 47:44Speaker 1: And they make it's about making a movie in Hollywood
- 47:47Speaker 1: where you know you don't have a budget, and so
- 47:49Speaker 1: you're stealing ways to make movies. And that's this dude
- 47:52Speaker 1: hires a bunch of people from home depot his crew,
- 47:57Speaker 1: and then it's also I think I remember another reason
- 48:00Speaker 1: and I really liked it. It was like a comedy
- 48:02Speaker 1: that's also behind the scenes of making a movie, which
- 48:04Speaker 1: I appreciate. And so you know, at the beginning, these
- 48:07Speaker 1: guys have zero idea on how to you know, work
- 48:10Speaker 1: a camera, and by the end of it, they're you know,
- 48:12Speaker 1: they're great. It's just such a funny movie. Man. All right, funny.
- 48:15Speaker 1: There you go. There's your recommendation of the week. Everybody
- 48:17Speaker 1: check out both finger. Um, let's talk about how we
- 48:20Speaker 1: find Kelso with a prostitute. Yeah, you gotta take your
- 48:27Speaker 1: shoes off if you're coming in movies. If you guys
- 48:30Speaker 1: want to give me shoes off. So it's official, everybody,
- 48:36Speaker 1: Kelso um enjoy enjoy sex workers. Is she a sex worker? Well, yeah,
- 48:43Speaker 1: I guess so, because she's dressed up like a sex worker, right,
- 48:45Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's not a massage. That's not a massage, bro.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I think it's safe to infer that there was banging
- 48:52Speaker 1: going on. Um, oh my god, so that was I
- 48:59Speaker 1: forgot if it was too different locations or if that
- 49:01Speaker 1: was all on the universal backst No, that's sacred heart hospital.
- 49:04Speaker 1: Everything that we did institute was in the hospital, and
- 49:07Speaker 1: then pulling off my gown was in the hospital. The
- 49:10Speaker 1: only thing that the only thing that is on the
- 49:14Speaker 1: lot is you zip from the zip line on is
- 49:17Speaker 1: you at the lot? Right? I remember I had to
- 49:20Speaker 1: go I remember I had to go into the tower
- 49:23Speaker 1: of that building and wait to pretend like it was
- 49:27Speaker 1: me standing behind you. That was the only reason why.
- 49:30Speaker 1: And then I had to zip down. I didn't zip down,
- 49:32Speaker 1: but don't. Right. That was so funny. So yeah, those
- 49:36Speaker 1: buildings on the back lot, they don't have interiors, they
- 49:38Speaker 1: just they're just facades. And so when we were so yeah,
- 49:41Speaker 1: all of that stuff, even you're right, Donald, even the
- 49:44Speaker 1: even us when I rip off your gown, that's um
- 49:46Speaker 1: we built. They built a window in the wall that
- 49:50Speaker 1: was one of the doors, and we did it at that.
- 49:53Speaker 1: We did it like it was we did it there right, right,
- 49:56Speaker 1: And then the building and then the building they made
- 49:58Speaker 1: the hallway I really I think it was the first floor.
- 50:01Speaker 1: They made the hallway look like apartment building, right, And
- 50:06Speaker 1: it was like that for a while too. Yeah, you're right,
- 50:09Speaker 1: But dude, how funny is it when I rip off
- 50:10Speaker 1: your gown it's hilarious. It is a great it's a
- 50:17Speaker 1: great moment. It's a great moment. So then we have
- 50:20Speaker 1: the coolest shot in Scrubs history where I zip line
- 50:24Speaker 1: across the street and then the stuntman nailed. I did,
- 50:28Speaker 1: actually did ziplining, but I stopped shy of nailing that that.
- 50:31Speaker 1: What do you call those things? What do you call
- 50:33Speaker 1: the roll down protector of the store the storefront gate? Yeah,
- 50:38Speaker 1: whatever it is, um, And the guy fucking really took
- 50:42Speaker 1: a nice hit and then shakes in the air. He
- 50:46Speaker 1: shimmy's in the air, Dude, how do you do that?
- 50:49Speaker 1: He hits the wall and use you know the and
- 50:53Speaker 1: propels off the wall using using his body. He shimmy's
- 50:56Speaker 1: in the air like the fourth I could. I don't
- 50:59Speaker 1: know how you do it. He hit the wall, and
- 51:02Speaker 1: after he hit the wall, that split second in the air,
- 51:05Speaker 1: he shakes and then falls. Now I loved it. When
- 51:09Speaker 1: I pop up, I've got spaghetti in my hair, and
- 51:12Speaker 1: I'm trying to act like I I it's just a coincidence.
- 51:16Speaker 1: We're running into each other, and I go, Molly, so funny,
- 51:26Speaker 1: I can't, dude, so funny, so funny, man like, And
- 51:30Speaker 1: then this, and then the conversation that you too have
- 51:33Speaker 1: and and the note Sarah Elliott gets me back. Man,
- 51:37Speaker 1: now we're even who's a wish? That'sen Brothers. I knew
- 51:43Speaker 1: it was Carrie. Honestly, oh you, I think we should
- 51:46Speaker 1: end the show with it, since it's one of the
- 51:48Speaker 1: rare opportunities we can play our friends music. That is,
- 51:51Speaker 1: the Brothers used to sleep to that song when beautiful
- 51:59Speaker 1: when around this time, a beautiful song, around the time,
- 52:04Speaker 1: this song was so I needed this song, so wish.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Oh my guy. Honestly, oh, you guys are sleeping on
- 52:17Speaker 1: Carrie Brothers if you're not listening to his music. And
- 52:19Speaker 1: by the way, it's one man's name. Carrie Brothers is
- 52:23Speaker 1: his last name. So many people think it's the Carry Brothers. No,
- 52:26Speaker 1: it's Carrie Brothers. Yeah, but I mean a lot of
- 52:30Speaker 1: Daniel's one of those people who thought it was Carry Brothers.
- 52:32Speaker 1: It's like, I can't find the Carrey Brothers anywhere. Man,
- 52:35Speaker 1: what kind of what we're looking for? Daniel, Remind me
- 52:38Speaker 1: we're gonna end the show with Carrey Brothers, the human,
- 52:41Speaker 1: not the not to a pair of brothers, and we're
- 52:43Speaker 1: doing a fan called We Have I mean, I guess
- 52:45Speaker 1: we're getting close. I still have more to talk about,
- 52:47Speaker 1: but we're gonna take a break and we're gonna go
- 52:49Speaker 1: to the fan call right right back after these words
- 52:53Speaker 1: from our friends at you and we're bad and we're bad.
- 53:04Speaker 1: You got to talk about the live show, because that's
- 53:06Speaker 1: getting more real, right, Choel. All I know is I
- 53:10Speaker 1: woke up this morning and it was like, sixty five
- 53:12Speaker 1: emails's happening. It's really I couldn't catch up. I had
- 53:16Speaker 1: to read. I was like, dang, oh my gosh, it's
- 53:18Speaker 1: like we read a script. Well, um, you know, while
- 53:23Speaker 1: you're sleeping, we're planning. Well, I'm caught up now, and
- 53:28Speaker 1: we're we're aiming for This isn't solidified, right, Joel, but
- 53:32Speaker 1: we're aiming for the last Friday in March, that's right,
- 53:35Speaker 1: and then um, it'll be like maybe two hours somewhere
- 53:40Speaker 1: in there. And um we found that we oh, I
- 53:43Speaker 1: found this app one of my followers on Instagram, which
- 53:47Speaker 1: you should be if you're not following me, come on,
- 53:49Speaker 1: I'm close to one point five. I need to get
- 53:51Speaker 1: over the edge. I need to edge edge me guys,
- 53:54Speaker 1: edge mail. Um all right, sorry, um you guys U.
- 54:05Speaker 1: One of my followers friends told me that there's this
- 54:10Speaker 1: website you can just do. It's called like instant straw
- 54:13Speaker 1: poles or some straw straw pole, so we can just
- 54:16Speaker 1: like we can just tell everyone to go on there
- 54:18Speaker 1: and ask a question and they can and it's like instant.
- 54:20Speaker 1: You'll see like the numbers move. So we can use that.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Donald since the program we're using to do the live
- 54:26Speaker 1: show doesn't have a pole feature, but we learned that
- 54:28Speaker 1: we could do it separately if we want to, let's
- 54:30Speaker 1: do it. And um, we are going to pull you
- 54:34Speaker 1: and play we should play family feud? Oh yeah, we
- 54:37Speaker 1: asked a hundred listeners. I'm dead serious though, I was
- 54:42Speaker 1: reached out to and to see how my family wanted
- 54:45Speaker 1: to play family feud. Wait are you serious? I'm dead serious.
- 54:49Speaker 1: My family does not live in Los Angeles, California, so
- 54:53Speaker 1: they can fucking get a RV if they don't want
- 54:57Speaker 1: to fly. I was saying. I was saying, I have
- 55:00Speaker 1: a family right here at Fake Doctor's Real Friends. Why
- 55:03Speaker 1: not do a fake doctors If I could get it
- 55:06Speaker 1: to happen, why couldn't we do a fake Doctor's Real
- 55:08Speaker 1: Friends family feud? We could promote the show, and we
- 55:11Speaker 1: could promote the and we could be on fake and
- 55:13Speaker 1: we could be on Family Feud. I'm just saying it's possible.
- 55:16Speaker 1: I don't know. That's amazing. Look how happy that Daniel
- 55:18Speaker 1: is about the idea I love. I don't know if
- 55:21Speaker 1: that's pot. I don't I don't know if it's pot.
- 55:23Speaker 1: I don't know if it's I don't know if. Well.
- 55:24Speaker 1: First of all, I have two thoughts. I have two thoughts.
- 55:26Speaker 1: I would love to go on Family Feud as our
- 55:28Speaker 1: fake doctor's real friends family um. But also I would
- 55:32Speaker 1: be thoroughly entertained by your actual family going. I'm scared
- 55:35Speaker 1: to do that. I would be too scared to do that.
- 55:36Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Your mom would be hilarious, Yeah, I know,
- 55:39Speaker 1: I I yeah, you know what I yeah, And my
- 55:42Speaker 1: dad would be hilarious, and your brothers would be hilarious
- 55:46Speaker 1: and would be hilarious, and I would be so embarrassed.
- 55:50Speaker 1: And so therefore you listen. I love these listeners. Don't
- 55:55Speaker 1: they know Casey a little bit from from listening to
- 55:57Speaker 1: the show. She's so funny and charming. The obviously don't
- 56:00Speaker 1: know your mom and your brothers. I mean, they would
- 56:03Speaker 1: be hilarious. I don't know why you're even thinking about this,
- 56:05Speaker 1: but yeah, I'd rather be us anyway. I think it
- 56:08Speaker 1: should be us, and they're not gonna choose like a
- 56:10Speaker 1: po podcast. Yeah, obviously we could do it for why not?
- 56:13Speaker 1: I got you, dude, I got me, and you are
- 56:15Speaker 1: you kidding me? They'd be like, wait, hold up, you
- 56:17Speaker 1: and Zach I willing to do it? You think you
- 56:19Speaker 1: can maybe get like h then they're gonna then they're
- 56:21Speaker 1: gonna go down to the Scrubs cast wormhole, where I'd
- 56:24Speaker 1: rather have Joelle and Daniel. I would rather that too,
- 56:29Speaker 1: because then we're promoting fake doctor's real friends. Scrubs is
- 56:32Speaker 1: no longer on, and just promote Scrubs anyway. Tell them
- 56:36Speaker 1: that we're interested as long as we can promote our podcast.
- 56:40Speaker 1: All right, let's go to the fans. Well, your wife
- 56:45Speaker 1: can come on too, because she's technically part of the pod. Yeah,
- 56:47Speaker 1: I know. She was like, this is what she said,
- 56:49Speaker 1: this is and I'll get Florence too. No, no, Florence
- 56:52Speaker 1: gonna do it. That's what my wife said. My wife said,
- 56:54Speaker 1: I know Florence Wiley doesn't even know what. I'm sure
- 56:57Speaker 1: she doesn't know what family Feud is she doesn't grow
- 56:59Speaker 1: up on that like we did. I grew up in
- 57:02Speaker 1: and it's and it's and it's Steve Harvey too. So
- 57:04Speaker 1: I know, come on, Bud, I would love I just
- 57:06Speaker 1: want to I just want to say something that's worthy
- 57:09Speaker 1: of a Steve Harvey deadpan fig. Yes. So look, if
- 57:12Speaker 1: you're listening to Family Feud, I guess this is the
- 57:14Speaker 1: pitch right here. I don't know if I don't know
- 57:17Speaker 1: if the bookers at Family Feud listen to the podcast,
- 57:19Speaker 1: but we're down. They know what's good down. Um, all right,
- 57:25Speaker 1: let's bring in the collar. What we got today? We
- 57:27Speaker 1: have two people, yeah, huh, huh huh. He give it
- 57:36Speaker 1: up for Rachel Libertine and right right right, that's right, Tyler,
- 57:45Speaker 1: I'm sorry. And Tyler, who is at the hospital with
- 57:50Speaker 1: the dopest pool badge I've ever seen in my live
- 57:54Speaker 1: He got a pool badge. You too can get a
- 57:56Speaker 1: pull batch all right, first one, it's called badge pulls. Okay,
- 58:01Speaker 1: So I want to show I want to tell the
- 58:03Speaker 1: listeners that Tyler appears to work in a hospital, or
- 58:06Speaker 1: is that correct? I work for a hospital. I'm actually
- 58:10Speaker 1: in a training room. This is my office at a
- 58:13Speaker 1: high school. Okay, questions, but more apparently more importantly, he's
- 58:17Speaker 1: wearing a badge pull with our faces on it, which
- 58:23Speaker 1: it's I think, well maybe, yeah, it's a badge pull.
- 58:26Speaker 1: But okay, um um there for sale, all right, get
- 58:34Speaker 1: him for your friends and for your friends. You need
- 58:36Speaker 1: badge bulls. You guys, what's going on? We know nothing.
- 58:38Speaker 1: We have a two very good looking people. Um. I'm
- 58:43Speaker 1: hoping that you're dating, uh, in love with each other
- 58:45Speaker 1: and separated or something, Joelle, Is that the story? Well,
- 58:47Speaker 1: I don't want them to be separated, No, but they're
- 58:50Speaker 1: not in the same zoom windows. So I'm thinking it's
- 58:52Speaker 1: like a long lost love, love that can't be forbidden
- 58:56Speaker 1: love Jack Jack going into the ocean at the end
- 58:59Speaker 1: of titan He could have got on that, he could
- 59:01Speaker 1: have got on, Rachel. There's plenty of room on the
- 59:03Speaker 1: door for Tyler. Sorry, that's a deep Titanic joke. All right,
- 59:08Speaker 1: go ahead, Rachel. What's going on here? Oh no, we're
- 59:11Speaker 1: just we're both like we're at separate work workplaces right now.
- 59:14Speaker 1: So not not a long distance situation. Okay, I was
- 59:17Speaker 1: trying to make it more romantic. First of all, where
- 59:19Speaker 1: are you from and where are you at? We are
- 59:22Speaker 1: in Cleveland, east side, Cleveland area, okay, And I had
- 59:28Speaker 1: to remind myself Donald, what's the place that you love
- 59:31Speaker 1: to eat in Cleveland? Again, there's Slimon, Slimon, That's what
- 59:38Speaker 1: I was thinking of it also Mabels Mabels, Okay, barbecue. Yeah. Well,
- 59:51Speaker 1: Tyler Ruden because he wanted us to help fix Rachel's life. Okay,
- 59:56Speaker 1: we'll go right well, I um, Rachel is a physician.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Got hold on what's one second, ladies and gentlemen, it's
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: time for Cleveland, Ohio's favorite segment. It's time too. Thanks
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: you live Tyler. When you guys are a couple, right, Yes, yes, sir,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: we are okay, and Um and you are are in
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: different workplaces, so um and are you both in the
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: medical fields? Yes, sir? I once again, I'm an I
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: fight charing in the sports medicine realm uh Rachel um
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: and she'll explain more clearly. She is a doctor, a
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: resident physician UM in the Cleveland System Hospital systems UM,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: and I have I've been emailing Joel on a day
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: to day basis, kind of like saying, hey, you know,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I really like to give Rachel some recognition for all
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: the hard work. She's going through a bit of a
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: career crisis right now of where her jobs going, and
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: I really want to give her a little bit of
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: a platform and also some recognition for all the work. Um.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: One thing with Scrubs is being a resident in scrubs
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: and it's like you work so much and you get
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: little to know time for yourself and the recognition and uh,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: the just overall what you deserve to be given at
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: for all all you sacrifice. Um and Joel picked up
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: on it, and I really just wanted to give Rachel
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: a little bit of like, just have you guys give
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: her some advice on so well we will, But I
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: gotta start off by saying you must are you as
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: married or dating dating? I gotta say you're a really
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: good boyfriend because you've been stalking Joel to give your
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: your your partner some affirmation slash advice and that just
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I don't know, it just means you. I sense that
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: you're a good man. Thank you, thank you. Maybe it
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: might be the badge pull, but I just something about you,
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: all right, Rachel? Alight, Rachel, how can we fix your life?
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Not only do you have Donald, but you have Danelon Joel.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: We're here for you. This is your time to shine.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: No one's listening. No one across the earth is listening
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: but us six. Nobody can hear you. Just just this.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: What happens here stays here. Yes, No, you can talk
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: shit about your job whatever you want. Oh gosh, okay. Um,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I think the biggest thing I guess, you know, in
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: terms of fix my life, which yes, I should take
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: a second and say that this is amazing that Tyler
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: did this. Um definitely the probably the most supportive thing
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: anyone's ever done for me, so m thank you. But UM,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: I think in terms of you know, how you guys
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: can help out or maybe some advice is how to
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: get through the pay your dues kind of you know,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: time in your career. So you know, I've seventeen eighteen
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: years old, good at science, so I figured why not
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: just go to you know, do med school, do that process,
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: go through pre med and you're kind of on this
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: journey and you wake up one day and you struggle
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: to realize, like, is this really what I even want
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: to be doing? Am I really enjoying this? And I'm
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: sure in your own personal lives obviously professionally, you guys
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: played residence. You guys you know, were residents who had
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: to go through residency in the concept of paying your dues.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: So just kind of curious in your own lives, when
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: have you guys had to do that? And like, how
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: how can I navigate this time where I'm just kind
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: of climbing up a ladder and hoping that I get
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: to the top and it's a great view, but right
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: now it's pretty tough. Well, we have the perfect analogy,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: and it's not in being medicine, because when we were
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: pretending to me in medicine, we were stars getting treated
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: really well and having our own personal dressing rooms, and
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: all we had to do is go try and make
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: people laugh. But the analogy that's perfect is trying to
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: be actors, because we we had you at least have
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: a guarantee that if you work your ass off and
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: make it true, you're going to be, you know, the
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: highest thing you can be in society, a doctor that
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: helps people. I mean, I don't think that there's any
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: greater the way you can give back to society. I mean,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: it's just like the greatest in my mind, the greatest
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: honor and career there is, but Donald and I you know,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: had to go out there with no idea if we
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: would ever get work. In fact, for my first audition
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: was when I was thirteen years old. I got little
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: things here and there, but I didn't really get a
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: meaningful job until twenty five, Right, Donald, do you want
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: to speak to that? Yeah, you know, I think I
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: feel like I'm still paying my dues, I'm still to
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: the It's it's a journey, you know what I mean.
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: You said it in in everything you were talking about,
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: you said the keyword, it is a journey. That's the
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: best part of this whole thing. Paying your dues and
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: getting the accolades for you know, putting the work in.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: That's still a part of the journey. Because at the
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: end of Scrubs, I'm still an actor and I'm still
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: searching and trying to get another job, you know what
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: I mean. I'm still trying to continuing further my career.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: And there was a you know, you're always gonna have
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: to pay your dues, and there's gonna be great times.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: There's gonna be times where you're like this is so awesome,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: and there's gonna be times where it's like I don't
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: know why I'm doing this, but it's the journey. That's
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: the reward is the journey, I promise you it's not.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: There's nothing else You'll You'll get so much. You'll get
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: so much out of it when it stops becoming, when
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: it stops becoming. Well, if I work this hard, I'm
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: gonna get this and just accept that. You know, I
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: love what I do. Let me just experience what it has.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Think about also like the different I mean, you are
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: so blessed in a way that most people aren't in
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: that you every day can make a difference in someone's life. Um,
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: you know, most people who are who have who are good.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: We all we hope to change people's lives for the better.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: We know we do this little comedy show. We hope
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: we make people giggle a little bit. We you know,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: we go out in the real world. I think that
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: we like to say that we are good human beings.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: You are doing something that every day there is tangible
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: evidence that you're making a difference in people's lives. And
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I know we know how hard it is, just from
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: faking it and and and getting to know real doctors.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: We know how hard it is for you but but
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I mean, obviously your workload will will lighten up in time,
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: and just think about I think you just have the
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: greatest gift, the ability to genuinely affect people's lives for
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: the better. I can't imagine a greater honor than that. Well, yeah,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: I mean, maybe you don't hear it enough. You're a hero,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Maybe that's something you don't
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: hear enough. Maybe that's what you need to hear, you know,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: more often. And and it's true you you know, I
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: don't know what your situation is. I don't know, but
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: you're definitely in the path of what's killing a lot
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: of Americans right now just by being in a hospital,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So you are a hero
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: and you need to understand that. And I know, to
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: your magnitude, I can't, I can't. I don't even know
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: how to explain what it is that you go through.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: But from my experience, the lows are just is are
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: are are low, but the highs are so wonderful and
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: so rewarding, and you know, just stayed the path and stay.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: Not to mention there's so many people in your position
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: that don't have a partner that they're crazy about well
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: that that's that that don't have a partner that's as
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: supportive raw supportive. But also I mean, look at the guy,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: he's a stud. You're doing really well. Um, I just
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: don't work out. You work out, man, you work out.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Don't get into it, don't get into his muscle stalk
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: all right, listen, thank Rachel. Rachel. I just want to say, like,
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: I know it's hard, but like there's so many people,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: no matter what the career, but in particularly medicine I'm sure,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: who are doing this all alone and are doing it
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: all like oh fucking like, this is so hard, This
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: is so hard. I have no one but I and
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I have no one to come home too because I'm
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: so focused on my career. You're like in relationship with
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: this awesome guy who's stalking Joel to get you a
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: pep talk from us, Like, um, so you got to
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: just focus on how how blessed you are for all
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: the things. I'm I mean, like what's happening in your life.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: You're like going to be you are a doctor. You
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: are going to be a career doctor and all the
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: lives you'll affect, and you got this great fella Jesus,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: I think I loves amazing. It is true. I mean
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: there's a piece of trying to you know, stop the
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: train of just kind of where am I going? Where
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: am I going? And looking around and seeing what I
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: have now for sure need to appreciate that, and I think, um,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: you know, taking time stepping away and seeing the bigger picture,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: because there's just a lot of tiny details and mundane tasks,
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: and you know, the day to day can get blurry
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: and you can forget the things that you guys have
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: brought up that come with the job and come with
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: the career. So I mean, just think about I mean,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I I just so I'm envious of the difference that
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: you can make in the world. You know, all we
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: can do is hopefully we entertain people, hopefully we make
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: them laugh, hopefully occasionally bring a tear to their eye,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: and I'm happy with that being a storyteller and is
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: my I feel so fucking lucky I get to do
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: it in any capacity. But for you, I just I'm
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: envious of the fact that you literally and sometimes it
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: will be as extreme as saving someone's life, and sometimes
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: it'll just be like the bedside manner of sitting there
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: and listening to someone who's distraught and nodding your head
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: and making them feel better. I mean, you you can
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: make such a difference in the world. That's fucking thrilling. Yeah. Yeah, again,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: all things that get like tossed aside sometimes during you know,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: the training period of the career UM, where it just
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: seems like there's more to learn and more hours to work,
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: and you know, it's easy to forget about those those
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: moments at the bedside, but you're exactly right. They definitely
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: can keep me going. You're gonna you're you're you're nearing
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: the end. Well, you're always gonna have to learn something though.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: Well yeah, but I'm saying, how much longer of this
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: insane you have no control over your hours situation? About
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: a year and a half, so yeah, definitely. Well, well,
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: I mean, look how far you've made it. You I mean,
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: you can't I know, I know sometimes you I'm sure
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: you want to give up and say fuck this, but
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: I mean you're so close to that, and uh, I
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: don't know. I'm I'm happy for you. I'm excited for you.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Do you do you have a specialty that you want
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: to go into. UM, so I work with in pediatrics.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: So that's you buried the lead. Yeah. I get to
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: work with the all all the kids, the young and
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: the older kids. So um, I like working with the
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: teenagers primarily. Those are actually my favorite patients if I
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: had to pick. So potentially, you know, probably the reason
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: why Tyler and I even uh linked up in the
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: first place. I have an interest in sports medicine as well.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: So something in those in those lines. Well, I mean,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Bumble came through for us. Bumble you guys are Bumble
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: got out to Bumble notes. We're trying to get We're trying,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: as you know for listening to the podcast, We're trying
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: to get a dating app to sponsor us. We can
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: do a whole Joel's segment on her dating If you
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: remember some of the theme songs that were that were
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: very popular. Um man, do you remember bumble bee Tuna
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: speaking of bumbo bum bum bumboo bee bumboo. I love
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: a salad made with bumboo bee bob. Yeah, the salad
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: made with bumble bee bumboo bee. Um all right, so
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: um wow, I'm uh, you know, we didn't even know
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: you're a pediatric, so that's even more I mean, that's
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: even more special. Um. Listen, there's an expression that my
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: mom taught me. I always think about um, and of
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: course you probably heard it. Um. This two shall pass,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: and it's important to remember it when things were going great,
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: that you need to savor it because this two shall pass.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: And remember when things are fucking shitty, because this two
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: shall pass. So get that tattooed on your wrist. Yeah,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: I definitely had plenty of call ships before. If not
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: your wrist, your forehead, not for it. She's too she's
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: too nice and sweet and pretty for that on her forehead.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: And I'm sure that Tyler doesn't want a tattoo on
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: her for it. But but maybe you know a little
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: wrist spot right there. Yeah, yeah, all right. I don't
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: know what else to say other than I'm happy for you, guys.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: I'm happy about bumble if you're single. If you're single,
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: you got to see these two people. They're both like
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: in the medical profession and there they look like models.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: They're on bumble for you. I'm doing I'm getting bumble
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: a plug for no reason. Bumble. We are at fucking advertising.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you, thank you, are well Joel oh
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: see Daniel's catchphrase Joel let's sign you up for Bumble.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Even if they're not a sponsor. I think we can
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: make a difference. Okay, Bumble is the one that that bumbles,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: the one that gets into your Facebook friends, right, Yeah,
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: and the girl, the woman has to reach out first.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: So could you You made the first move? I made
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: the first move. Look at that. Oh my god, you stud,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: you tyler, Tyler, you stud. It's only right. It's only
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: right she came to you. It's only right that you
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: do this for her. Yeah, I love that. Shout out.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Scratch my back, guy, scratch yours shout out. Yeah, dat
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: um early fall. Oh it's relatively it is brand new too. Yeah,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: you're going out all the stops early on. He yet
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: you were supposed to save this for like seven. He's
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: got a good one. He's got a fucking beautiful doctor
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: on the hook. Do you think he's gonna suck it up?
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: And that's where I want to just throw out, like
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: thank you so much, Joel, Like I I just tried
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: for the past couple, like just a month. I've been
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: trying day to day. I'm just like, hey, like given
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: the detail and found like I'm a click picture of us.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: See if that gets there like trying to fix it up.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: So I guess to anybody who's trying to get on here,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: keep working. Joel's see that she's going to get to you.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: I appreciate that, but please no Dick picks no automatic
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: And I didn't know about this. Dick picks her an
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: automatic disqualification. Well, now you know now, and now you
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: know Tyler by the way, Tyler was gonna resort. He
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: was two weeks away from trying that, but he didn't
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: do it. I feel the cum gutters. He brought it up. Setters,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: don't don't say sea gutters in front of Rachel. She's
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: too innocent. She got innocent. Well she diagnoses, sir, you
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: have cum gutters. She doesn't. Sorry, all right, we gotta go. Uh,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: thank you guys. Wait, do you guys have any questions?
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Do you guys have any question? Well, we did an
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: extra long segment. Do we're going an hour and a half.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: This is an extra long episode, dude. We got more
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: to say about the episode. R one quick question, go ahead,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: Rachel saw you all right, So my question is it's
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: our thirty you guys, are you know you're you're finishing
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: being awake for thirty hours you're in the hospital, what's
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: your go to meal? You finally leave the hospital, you
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: have freedom after being awake for so long, So what
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: what's your go to? What do you go? What do
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: you go? Get? Mon Spot roast is all the doctors
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: think about for like less sixteen hours of the call shift.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Is like, when what am I going to eat when
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: I'm gone out of here. I was younger, it would
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: have been steak night. We're gonna eat it, right, Mine's
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: going to be a beyond burger, cheese burger with all
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: the fixings fries, and a Oreo cookie milkshake. Yep. But
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: now that I'm an adult, my last my meal after
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: I get out, it's usually something like it's something crazy
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: like crispy cream, doughnuts and a beer. You can't beat it.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: A shower beer. You can't beat it. Love a shower beer.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: You have a meal? Uh sure? Three by three from
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: in and out? A double doubles? Yeah, A double double
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: is two patties, two slices of cheese. Three by three
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: is three patties, three slices of cheese. And if we're
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: getting specific extra toast on the bun, mustard, fried pickles,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: no lettuce not tomato. You say that you're one of
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: those guys that in and out who's got a very
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: long order, aren't. I've been eating it and out since
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: I was a child. So I got Sally dude. You're
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: Sally from when Harry Much Sally Dude. Yeah, I don't
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: want to like take us away too quickly. I just
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: want to if I can do a shout out shout.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: I have to shout out because I've Scrubs has changed
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: my life just like influenced me when I was younger,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: and big shout out to my best friend whose name
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: is Tyler Perry's his name. He's so successful yea, so
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I just want to stay. Shout out to him, thank
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: you so much. And so your friend, you loved your
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: work as media. Yes, you're wonderful as media. And you've
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: built a fake white house apparently on your own black
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: cloud in Atlanta. Is that where he makes his show
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: as Atlanta believe? So yeah, shout out Atlanta, Tyler Perry
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: doing it, Tyler Perry doing it. Um. And I didn't
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: know that Tyler Perry was friends with with with mister Ray,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: but all right, shouting out to my my little brother
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: John he's a sophomore over in college. Um, I hope
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: he's enjoying uh an apple teeny. I got him all
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: the applies for Christmas, nah show and him and his
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: roommate are just hanging out trying to be safe with COVID.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: So I hope you're having a good Friday Friday night
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: with your your apple Teenie's good. Now, Rachel, when you
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: get upset and you want to go feedle and you
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: frustrate your job, I want you to think of us
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: telling you this too shall pass. Or you can just look,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: or you can just look in the mirror at your
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: new forehead tattoo. Well, make sure to get it backwards
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: on your forehead so that'll look right in the mirror. True.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna talking with every patient reassure them without you
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: being point. You'll just point to your forehead. Hey, when
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: they're sad, they're like, I'm so fucking sick of being sick.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: You're like, look at this, look at this, or, as
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Tom Kavanaugh once sang at upfronts, I can be a
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: here o baby, you d my breath of rom Okay,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: on that note, we're gonna let you guys go. Thank
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: you for coming ho. Yeah, so nice but lovely people.
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: It's always great having them on. Oh they were cute.
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: I hope we aspired. I hope we gave her a
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: good pep talk. I hope so too, because I know
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: how she feels. Man. All right, let's end on a
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: funny note because we got all worked up. I want
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: to talk about just the end of the episode, that
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: scene when Molly Shannon's character breaks down. I believe what
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: if you look at the shot, she's very close to
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: the lens and doctor Cox is in the doorway, and
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: they're both in focus. So if I'm not mistaken, we
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: used something called a split field diopter, which enables you
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: to have something very close. It's it's basically a half
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: a lens that screws onto the front of your lens
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: that allows you to match the Fokal distance. And I'm
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: really into them and have used them a few times.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: They always have an out of focus scene. Yeah yeah,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: So if you notice, if you go back and watch
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: when Cox is in the doorway, he kind of leans
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: into it for a second and kind of goes out
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: of focus. But that's how you get that that shot.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: And the other thing I want to tell you about
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: that is when I first showed it to Bill. There
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: was other coverage in that scene, but that shot was
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: so powerful and Molly Shannon's performance was so powerful that
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: I said to Bill, Um, please don't cut it. Please
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: don't use any of the other cuts in my cut.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: I never cut away. I used stayed on that shot
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: the whole time and um and to his credit, he
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: left it in in his final edit because I just thought,
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: you know, when a performance is that good, you know,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: don't cut it up. Show the audience that this is
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: all real and happening. This isn't manufactured in the edit room,
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, dude, I mean I just want to
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: recap the whole show once again by saying one right
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: job too, Molly Shannon, Wow, holy cow, really phenomenal, uh
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: performance in this episode of Scrubs, I'm saying. And Johnny
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: C also, you know, it takes two to tango and
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: he played he you know, he played the other part
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: in those scenes very well to make it, to make
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: to make her performance work. So shout out Johnny C
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: as well. Um, and uh, you know, this is this
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: is one of those episodes. This, this is why I
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: got into acting. I had dreams of doing things like this,
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: you know what I mean, uh, going on adventures like this. This,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: these are this is the type of television I like.
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: You know, this is the type. These are the type
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: of movies I like. Action comedy. I mean, that's what
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: this this, This was sort of an action comedy episode. Yeah,
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: it's a well, it's a it's a yeah. Absolutely, it's
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: an epic it's an epic journey. It's a you know,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: and it's a quest. I like movies like this, and
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: I like TV shows like this, and so you know,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: this is my favorite episode so far. Me too, for sure,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: Me too, me too. Well, this was fun. And um,
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: and thank you for your kind words and everyone, thanks
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: for listening. Um, we'll be coming to you soon. This
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: is the last episode without the sound machine working. I'm
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: very excited to try that out. Um and UM, we're
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: gonna come to you with it. More in full about
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: the live show, which is coming together, likely for the
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: last Friday in March. So put that in your calendar
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: right now, because that is, I believe March twenty six Yes,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: March twenty sixth, put a put a save the date

- 1:26:11Speaker 1: I polished off the whiskey night, turn the mountain. Stop
