- 0:00The following program is produced by the Tech Talk Radio Network. Hi, this
- 0:03is Dadrian Barbo. You're listening to tech Talk Radio and you're gonna learn a
- 0:08lot. Welcome to another episode of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 0:17I'm Seanda Weird, and I'm Justin Lemmy. We are the show that talks
- 0:21about computers, technology and the Internet. So, guys, I wanted to
- 0:26start off the show this week with a public service message that I think is
- 0:32extremely important. We have talked, we have talked all the time about the
- 0:38importance of once in a while pulling away from the keyboard, to put it
- 0:42aside, take the technology and put it in the other room, to shut
- 0:47down the computer, let it run an update, and go outside and enjoy
- 0:53what beautifulness that we have out in nature, just so beautiful skies, and
- 1:00getting off the technology. But all right, hold hold on, hold on,
- 1:03what the heck is this outside you're talking about? Well, I'm talking
- 1:04about how important it is. They say to go outside, but as we
- 1:08could see, that could be very dangerous, It could be tragic, it
- 1:12could be it could be off awful and even more reason the public services,
- 1:17stay on your computer, get on that keyboard, go online and visit virtual
- 1:22worlds. Do not ride a bicycle outside? Oh good, here we go.
- 1:33No bicycles. Yes, ride a virtual bicycle. You know, invest
- 1:37in the meta, you know it. Get the Occarty hard strap on the
- 1:42oculus so that you could pretend you're riding a bike so you don't have to
- 1:47worry about falling off the bike. Shanda doesn't even know what we're talking about,
- 1:51right, No idea, I have no idea. All right. If
- 1:55you notice, Justin is wearing a wrist strap because Justin decided to get off
- 2:00the technology and take his son and wife outside. Okay, first off,
- 2:05I did not decide. I was told to go on a bike ride,
- 2:12yeah, much to my sugar, and I did not want to, right,
- 2:15but I had to ye. So we went on a bike ride with
- 2:20the family, just I mean just around the neighborhood, just to get out,
- 2:23you know, because Eric, you know, he finally learned how to
- 2:24ride his bike, and you know, he can keep up with us.
- 2:27And we both had bikes. And I've got a I don't know, I
- 2:30mean, it's I bought it from Walmart. Ain't nothing crazy, excemaraning that,
- 2:35but it's some one of them a little huffies like they wrote an eat
- 2:38is it? No, No, it's not like a BMX bike randing,
- 2:42it's a it's like a it's it's a hybrid. It's like a it's like
- 2:45a mountain bike meets a road bike. I mean it's got road tires with
- 2:49like extra tread on it, so it gives it a little bit more of
- 2:53that grip. But I would never take it on like a mountain trail because
- 2:57tires aren't wide enough to do that anyway. But it's ten speed, you
- 3:00know whatever, fifteen speed something like that. I remember, Actually, no,
- 3:04no tak about it's a twenty one speed. There's three main gears and
- 3:07seven smaller gears on each side, so yeah, it's a twenty one.
- 3:09See just how out of the loop I am. I always thought bikes only
- 3:14went up to ten speed. Well yeah, honestly, yeah, I kind
- 3:19of thought so too, But I mean, whatever, it's a twenty one
- 3:21speed. But we were just riding through the neighborhood, not not a big
- 3:23deal, um. And Eric's riding his bike next to me and he we
- 3:28were coming off an alleyway and the concrete dips down so we can like meet
- 3:34the street, you know, so cars drive without getting a bump. Well,
- 3:38I was gonna go down that as as I was supposed to, but
- 3:39Eric got a little close to me. So I decided, you know what,
- 3:42I'm just gonna I'm just gonna jump the curb. I mean, it's
- 3:44right here, it's easy, you know. I was just like six inches
- 3:46clearance whatever. So as I lifted up on the front of my bike to
- 3:52try to get that little bit of a oomph that I need to get over
- 3:54the curb. As I lifted up on it, I noticed something went wrong
- 4:00when my front tire came off. Oh no, but my dad put together
- 4:04your bike because he did that to me when I was a kid. Well,
- 4:08you see, this ain't the first time this has happened to me too,
- 4:11because when I was like four years old, same thing happened to my
- 4:13dad when he was taking me on a bike ride. And I'm sitting on
- 4:15the front on the handlebars and the front tire came off and I took a
- 4:18header, And that's pretty much what I did here. I the front tire
- 4:23came off, and I looked down hit the handlebars when it came down,
- 4:27and I flipped over. My wife said, my legs were like one eighty
- 4:30up in the air, oh my lord, and I flipped over and landed
- 4:32on the on the asphalt and scuffed up my hand. Pretty decent, kind
- 4:38of not I wouldn't want to say pulled a muscle, but like strained muscles
- 4:43throughout my arm and elbow and uh and shoulder, my back, herds,
- 4:46my butt, herds, I mean all this stuff. But you took a
- 4:49dive. I took a dive. I took a dive. Um. But
- 4:54immediately after that happened, you know, we Eric stops and he drops his
- 4:57bike and he comes running up to me, and my wife has stopped,
- 5:00got her phone out. My first eye. She was gonna take a picture
- 5:02of the whole thing. But no, she was like, I mean,
- 5:05I wouldn't blame her. I think it'd be kind of hilarious. I'm still
- 5:09looking for a neighbor that's got the footage on their ring camera or whatever.
- 5:13But no, she was like, dude, I need a down nine one
- 5:15one. I'm like, no, no, just chill Like I thought.
- 5:17I broke a rib first off, because I hit hard. I mean I
- 5:20hit the candlebars with my chest and then I hit my back when I went
- 5:25went down, so I thought I broke a rib. But I was like,
- 5:28oh, just just just wait a second. I'll be fine. I'll
- 5:31be fine. And I stood up and I like looking at Eric, and
- 5:33Eric was just mouth a gate, you know, looking at me, and
- 5:36I'm like what and he goes, Dad, your hand and I look over
- 5:41at my hand and my hands just like dripping blood out. I'll be okay,
- 5:45and he's like, what you're bleeding? And I was like, yeah,
- 5:48I'll be okay. And he's like, Dad, are you superman?
- 5:57And so so I I just had it. I was like, you know
- 6:00what, let let let me get let me get my senses about me,
- 6:02right, because I was like, this is an opportunity for me to play
- 6:04this off right, right. So I was like, let me get my
- 6:06senses about me first. So like I took like five seconds or so,
- 6:11at least that's what I thought. I took about five seconds. I kind
- 6:13of gathered my senses and I looked around make sure everything's okay, and then
- 6:15I was like Eric, come here. I was like, I got right
- 6:17in his ear, and I was like, don't tell anybody that you're a
- 6:21superhero, right, yeah, that I'm that I'm a Superman and I was
- 6:26like, I was like, don't tell anybody, and He's like, oh,
- 6:28okay, okay, and I'm like, all right, I'll be fine.
- 6:30I'll be fine. So I like we you know, we were walking
- 6:32the bike back home, you know, we get home. You know,
- 6:34Eric was like, oh, you need to put on alcohol on the wound
- 6:39because otherwise you have to cut it off. Because we had done this a
- 6:42couple weeks prior with him he scuffed up his knee and I was like,
- 6:45you know, we we we gotta, we gotta disinfect it, you know,
- 6:47just in case we don't want to get infected because then you might have
- 6:50to cut it off. So this was like his super Bowl for him because
- 6:55he was like, oh my gosh, now I get to see my dad
- 6:58pour alcohol on his wound and see how he reacts. Uh, you know,
- 7:01because he was crying, he was screaming his butt off. So did
- 7:05you we had to do it? Did you? Did you hand it up
- 7:08a little? I mean, at least you know, when Rambo was like
- 7:10stitching himself up, you still have to grimace and grit your teeth. Oh
- 7:14gosh, yeah, of course I handed it up. Yeah, I mean
- 7:17I reached for a pen and I bit down on the pen and I was
- 7:20like, I'm pouring the alcohol in my hand. I'm like, no,
- 7:30no, no, I'm okay, I'm okay, okay, you know,
- 7:33just playing it up. And he's just like he's like, i mean,
- 7:36just sitting there cheering in the background. It's like, oh my god,
- 7:40he's like, Dad, Dad is so cool. Dad, He's a man.
- 7:44I scored some serious cool points to my kid on that one. My
- 7:47wife is just sitting there looking at me, like shaking her head and just
- 7:50like and so I'm sitting there pouring alcohol in my hand and I look at
- 7:56her and I kind of motioned towards the whiskey and I'm like and she's like,
- 8:01oh oh yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, no problem. She
- 8:03pours me a shot of whiskey, and I'm just like, down the hatch.
- 8:07Oh yes, fireball, yes, perfect, not fireball. No,
- 8:11this was like this was the actual like whiskey whiskey. But anyway, but
- 8:16yeah, no, I'm glad you're okay. It could have been bad.
- 8:18Yeah, oh, it could have been worse, because the crazy part about
- 8:22it was I didn't hit my head, thankfully, but right before we left,
- 8:26you know, Eric. I made Eric wear his helmet and he's like,
- 8:26Dad, are you gonna wear a helmet? I'm like no, I'll
- 8:28be fine. We're right through the neighborhood. Yeah. Never gonna, never
- 8:31gonna live that one down. Now we learn from this, right destin,
- 8:35We learned number one, just one, don't go on bike ride with your
- 8:39family, stay home, just do a virtual bike rides, stay on your
- 8:43computer. Yes. Um. The other one is everybody should have a GoPro
- 8:46on their bike because that could have been some great footage. Well, I'm
- 8:50sure there's a neighbor that's got a ring camera because I mean this was right
- 8:54in front of like seven different neighbors houses, So right, I'm sure there's
- 8:58somebody. I just have to ask on our little face book neighborhood neighborhood Facebook
- 9:01page and be like, has anybody got footage of me busting my butt?
- 9:05I'll give you up a twenty dollar bill for somebody that has that footage.
- 9:09Yeah, wow, you're gonna post on the front page of techtok radio dot
- 9:13com. Absolutely, yeah, right now, this is what happens when a
- 9:20nerd tries to ride a bike. Now I'm wondering, you know, pet
- 9:22think about it. Though Peloton has been doing these virtual rides, have they
- 9:26actually created though an oculus version of riding a bike? I kind of wonder,
- 9:31you know, you get on a stationary bike and you go for a
- 9:33ride. I wonder if they actually do that. I know they do it.
- 9:37Peloton's got it. So you've got a screen, right, and you're
- 9:41looking at footage, but you're riding. You don't feel it. I can
- 9:43imagine if if they had one. I've seen people put fans in front of
- 9:48their Peloton to blow on them to give them that that simulation feeling of riding
- 9:54through wind. Right, what they need to do is they need to simulate
- 9:56the front tire coming off and you're taken a header. Now, then I'd
- 10:03buy a Peloton. There is a game called hollow Fit which has several VR
- 10:09games that are for working out. It looks like you can ride a bike
- 10:13through It looks pretty cartoony, but yeah, that still would be kind of
- 10:18cool because then you're still getting to work out on a stationary bike, but
- 10:22wearing you know, the oculus. But I'm being on an all serious no,
- 10:26Peloton, they're not doing so well right now. I mean they were,
- 10:31yeah, during the pandemic. They were they were killing it. Yeah,
- 10:33because you know, everybody's staying at home. You know, everybody's wont
- 10:37to work out. But when everybody started going back to work, you know
- 10:39pelt You know, Peloton is expensive. I mean you're dropping what six seven
- 10:45k on a on a bike and plus you gotta pay like, what is
- 10:48it two hundred bucks a month? I don't know if it's that for their
- 10:52service. I know you have to pay for the service. Uh, And
- 10:54I guess there's different levels of service than what you want to do, but
- 10:58I mean it is like having a personal trainer at the gym. I mean
- 11:01we had I'm trying to We had a guest on the show once talking about
- 11:05her using Peloton and actually helped her lose a lot of weight. This is
- 11:09before the pandemic started. And then of course, you know, yeah,
- 11:13they exploded during the pandemic because people want I had a gym membership that I
- 11:18had just started. I want to say, wow, I got it in
- 11:22December through my company. It was like twenty bucks a month to go to
- 11:26La Fitness, and I was like, this is cool. I'm gonna get
- 11:28in there and work out. Well. Of course, December you've got everything
- 11:31going on with a holiday. So I didn't go January. It was like
- 11:35I didn't go, and then I was planning, Okay, I'm gonna go
- 11:37in February, and that's when we started to get the word about COVID and
- 11:41people like suddenly, and then before you knew it, they were closed.
- 11:45And I think I paid for five months of that thing. And then finally
- 11:48the company said yeah, yeah, we're gonna be wrapping this one up and
- 11:52they just started again. But I'm no, I'm not gonna do it.
- 11:54I love I love the idea behind Peloton. I think it's just it's unsustainable.
- 11:58I mean, the amount of money that you pay for their for their
- 12:03device, the bike, plus the service, it's just it's way too expensive.
- 12:07I mean, I see so many people in our neighborhood Facebook group that
- 12:11are like, hey, I got a Peloton for sale. Nobody even comments
- 12:15on it, like they're like, nope, not touching that. Yeah for
- 12:18the bike plus how much that's right? Oh, for the bike that includes
- 12:26shipping and delivery and set up and some weights and shoes and a mat and
- 12:31some other stuff, plus twelve months of the Peloton service, so you get
- 12:37in the twelve, you get the twelve months of service with the bike.
- 12:39Trying to figure out what the Peloton app costs because it doesn't have it on
- 12:43here. Yeah, I mean I would assume it's maybe maybe I was a
- 12:46little off. Maybe it's maybe like one hundred bucks a month, or maybe
- 12:48maybe it was seven, like sixty bucks a month. Whatever, regardless,
- 12:52I mean, they're not doing well. Their stock took a dive early twenty
- 12:56twenty two. You know, when people are starting to go back to work
- 12:58and go back to the gyms, Peloton was not doing so good. I
- 13:01mean they tried to they try to capitalize upon the pandemic, and it worked
- 13:07for short term, but I think they were too near sighted and they didn't
- 13:11realize, well, what's going to happen when people start going back to work?
- 13:15Yeah, you know, and I think that's where they really failed.
- 13:18I think maybe like it's like you go to a gym, all right,
- 13:20so you go to La Fitness, you go to Planet Fitness, you go
- 13:22to whatever, whichever gym you have a tendency to want to keep going to
- 13:26that one. You know the equipment, you know the routine. Everybody has
- 13:31their same routine. I'll go on this, and then I'll go on the
- 13:33treadmill, and I'll go the sauna and I'll do you have that same kind
- 13:37of rhythm of working out. So I think what they're hoping for is that,
- 13:41Okay, people are at home, they want to work out, they'll
- 13:43want to suddenly just not be doing that. So how cool is it to
- 13:48have this peloton in a in a room or the garage or somewhere that has
- 13:52this this experience, which is, let's face it, that's what Peloton brings
- 13:56to the game. You could go buy, you know, a stationary bike,
- 14:00it didn't have that same experience you got off a stationary bike or the
- 14:03peloton this way. I think they were hoping people would continue that, but
- 14:07the fact is, you know, somebody calls you up says, well,
- 14:09I think we're okay to go back to the gyms, and you go with
- 14:13your friends. You know, you don't the Peloton experience. Unless they had
- 14:20a virtual way to do it with your friends. Then that was you could
- 14:22do like private workouts with your friends and not everything on Peloton's prerecorded. I
- 14:26mean, there's a lot of live classes, and that's kind of what you're
- 14:30paying for, is the live classes where they can call you out and say,
- 14:33hey, you know, Andy, come on, pick up the pace,
- 14:35you know, pick up the pace, Andy, keep others. But
- 14:37there's a lot of prerecorded ones, and you can do, you know,
- 14:39stuff with your friends, or you can just be like me and just go
- 14:41out and just bust your butt on a real bike, you know, and
- 14:46get injured. I mean, that's you know, that's always an option.
- 14:48Yeah, that didn't work out too well for you, But no, you'll
- 14:52get back on the bike and ride again, won't you. I mean,
- 14:54oh totally. I mean yeah, I love it. I mean I love
- 14:56doing that. And yeah, it was it was partly my fault because my
- 14:58bike has been hanging upside down for probably close to oh gosh, I mean,
- 15:05I don't remember the last I took it down, probably like two or
- 15:07three years. It's been hanging up there, you know. Yeah. I
- 15:09don't even Eric could Yeah, Eric, Eric couldn't ride a bike, so
- 15:13there's no real purpose for me riding a bike. So yeah, it's been
- 15:16up there for a while. And I thought I went through everything. I
- 15:20mean, I lubricated the chains, I checked the brakes, I reinflated all
- 15:24the tires on all the bikes, but I guess I just didn't check the
- 15:26quick release bolt on the front tire of mine, because mine has that quick
- 15:31release so you can take off the front tire and then lock it up so
- 15:35people don't steal your bike. I never checked that. Well, I'll be
- 15:37darn sure to check that from now on. You know, I think they're
- 15:41making bikes now too that have more technology built into them so it can do
- 15:46all of that. I mean, check it. And kind of like your
- 15:48bags, they have them for recycles, they actually have them for recycle.
- 15:54You get an air bag, you look a little goofy riding it, but
- 15:58hey, if you fly off your protect I did well. I wish I
- 16:00would have had them on yesterday. You don't stop rolling to hit Yuma,
- 16:03but I mean why not? Well turn in a bubble boy. I don't
- 16:08know. I don't know if you want to stop a humayeh. Still rolling,
- 16:15but take the three tend to human and be like get out of there.
- 16:18You know, And well that that brings up the whole idea too,
- 16:22of fitness and working out and using technology to help out. Justin I know
- 16:26you have the watch that kind of tracks everything you do. Does it help
- 16:30in your fitness regiment at all. I mean telling you, hey, get
- 16:33out and walk. Absolutely, it would definitely help me if I actually didn't
- 16:37fitness. But no, I mean in all seriousness, yeah, no,
- 16:40it helps me. It'll I pay for the Fitbit premium um so I got.
- 16:45I got it for six months for free, and I I went ahead
- 16:48and paid for another year of it. I use it mostly for sleep tracking,
- 16:52because I want to be able to see how I'm sleeping. It does
- 16:53remind me every single hour, like hey, you need forty five steps to
- 16:57complete your steps for this hour, or you need to get up and go
- 17:02walk around because you've been sitting for I don't know, two three hours or
- 17:06whatever. Right, So it does help me. It keeps me somewhat motivated.
- 17:10I used to wear it when I was doing karate with Eric. I
- 17:12would wear it during karate. My senses were like, you can't wear that,
- 17:17and I'm like, well my doctor says I need to, and they're
- 17:18like, all right, whatever, Yeah, totally lied about that. If
- 17:22you're watching or listening, sense, sorry, I wear it because I wanted
- 17:26to be able to track the fitness of that because the watch keeps tell me,
- 17:30oh, you're not doing any fitness you're not doing any fitness. Well,
- 17:32yeah, because I'm not wearing the watch when I'm doing karate, and
- 17:36that's fitness. So I started wearing it and using the karate at activity on
- 17:41it, and it'd be like, oh, congratulations, you just did an
- 17:44hour of you know, strengtuous activity. I'm like, yep, I do
- 17:47it twice a week. Yes, I should be doing more. I think
- 17:51it does help. Sean, do you have one of these smart watches?
- 17:52I have the Apple Watch Series three. All right, so I've been thinking
- 17:56the latest. No, no, yeah, they have this series eight,
- 18:02the series Ultra. Good lord. We bought our So Kaitlin and I bought
- 18:07each other the watches for our first anniversary in twenty eighteen. Oh wow,
- 18:11okay, yeah yeah yeah. So I've had this watch and it wasn't even
- 18:14the newest version of the watch at the time m in twenty eighteen, so
- 18:18it's been five years. I've had this watch for twen Can you still do
- 18:22updates on it? It doesn't allow that. Yeah, it's I mean it's
- 18:26starting to show its age and it's starting to not you know, I have
- 18:29to reboot it once a week probably for it to sync properly. With my
- 18:32phone and push all my notifications to it stuff. But it's been really great
- 18:36and it'll track my you know, outdoor walks and my workouts and stuff.
- 18:40And but it's it's time for an update. For sure. I've been thinking
- 18:42about getting one, but I because I don't have anything like that. I
- 18:45just have my phone. And there's a health section on the iPhone fourteen Promax
- 18:49what that will tell you where you're you're an iPhone you're an iPhone user?
- 18:52Andy? Yeah? Yeah, so. I mean, honestly though, one
- 18:56of the best things about the smart watches it's not just necessarily for fitness.
- 19:00I mean, yes, they're really good for fitness, but also it's it's
- 19:03it's nice because if somebody texts me or I get an email, I don't
- 19:08have to reach for my phone and unlock my phone, open up the app
- 19:12see who texted me. I can just quickly look at my watch and be
- 19:15like, oh, Sean texted me. Yeah, I'll get back to him
- 19:18later or whatever, you know, Like I can see immediately on my watch
- 19:22what's going on, and so I don't have to really worry about it.
- 19:26Yeah. So when I first got mine, right, you really notice it
- 19:27in social settings. Like if you're out doing something and you're or you're shopping
- 19:33or doing something and you get you get pinged and you feel your watch vibrate,
- 19:37you just look up. Oh, it's just an email. I can
- 19:40just keep going. I don't have to dig out my phone figure out who
- 19:42yeah, or it's like oh Johnson texted me, all right, I can
- 19:45just quickly or ignore or whatever. Right, So it's just a quick look
- 19:53at my wrist down right. And I like the customizable watch faces, and
- 19:57that did the different m complicated they calm complications on the iPhone, on the
- 20:02eye watch, but the Apple Watch. There is one downside though to this.
- 20:06If you're if you're what, please correct me if I'm wrong here.
- 20:10What does it mean when you can see far away but you're up close you
- 20:14can't Is that near sighted? Okay? Yeah, So for people who are
- 20:18nearsighted, it sucks because I mean, I can't see my watch, and
- 20:23I'm like, I have to grab my readers and put on my readers half
- 20:27the time to be able to see what's going on on the watch because you
- 20:32know the text is so small. And yes, you can you can turn
- 20:33on accessibility mode to make the font larger, but then you're missing half the
- 20:40content on the screen. You have to keep scrolling, scrolling, scrolling.
- 20:42Somebody was making for the watches and anybody listening that's been thinking about doing it.
- 20:47They were making like a little microscope or not microscope, but a but
- 20:51a lens that could be put over your smart watch so it magnified it.
- 20:53Yeah, so it would magnify that. So if you let it just fit
- 20:56right over the top of it, so you would look and there it was
- 20:59mag to fight. So it did make the watch face bigger, but there
- 21:03your your eyes were able to more adjust on it. I'm looking at like
- 21:06so on your iPhones there is a fitness section and I'm looking at it and
- 21:10it says that I've walked almost a mile, right, I've taken one thousand,
- 21:15nine hundred and thirty five steps, which I would think on the surface
- 21:19is not bad. Right, but this is for the entire week. Oh
- 21:23my gosh, oh dear morn dude. Okay, in all seriousness and Andy,
- 21:30I'm being honest. Plots. Yeah, dude, at your age,
- 21:34you need to be walking around a lot more about No, no, no,
- 21:37no, I'm being honest. One thousand, nine hundred steps in a
- 21:41week, Bro, I do that before nine am. Okay, yeah,
- 21:47maybe maybe I gotta get one of these watches so it'll remind me. Hey,
- 21:49get up. Yeah, you need you need, you need to get
- 21:52some more. Eighty eight hundred steps just today, three point eight zero miles.
- 21:56Wow, just today, just in one day. Well, you know
- 22:00I've mentioned, you know I worked for water World, right, and so
- 22:03water World is opening up here in about three weeks. Once water World opens
- 22:07up, my step count goes through the roof. I'm walking twelve to fifteen
- 22:11thousand steps a day. Wait, they don't give you a little golf cart?
- 22:14I wish? Yeah. No, we have golf carts in the off
- 22:17season or when the park's closed. But when the park's open, we can't
- 22:18ride around in golf carts. You might run out for somebody, Yeah exactly,
- 22:22lose a wheel. Yeah, shut up. So there you mentioning this.
- 22:29So the two days that I did our show where we struct our show
- 22:33or our big live show, Yeah, I walked fourteen thousand, nine night
- 22:37one steps six point seven four miles. That's in one day. That's in
- 22:41twenty four hours. Wow, man, that's why you were here last week.
- 22:47Yeah, so that was when we were striking our show. So it's
- 22:48moving all the gear back and forth between the new but you know our studio
- 22:52and the set and everything. All right, So what should people get?
- 22:55I mean, all right, if say I'm an iPhone user, do I
- 22:57buy an Apple watch? Or can I get a Google You know, Google's
- 23:00doing this new thing with their their Galaxy watches where you get free service.
- 23:06Now, I mean that's that that's with the what is it the fiber?
- 23:10So you get Google fiber delivered to your smart to your smart watch in select
- 23:15markets. But why not, did you? Yeah? How can you get
- 23:19fiber? Well it's it's five G five G. I'm sorry, I best
- 23:26like, what what are you gonna do? This slap of the fiber connection
- 23:29to your watch? You're like, what, I can play Fortnite on the
- 23:32watch, but apparently, Yeah, it's it's like five G. It's provided
- 23:34by T Mobile. But it's a special deal that Google's got going with their
- 23:38their smart watches fathered So yeah, Google fight, so you'd be able to
- 23:44you'd be able to do that. I have it. I have LTE on
- 23:47my watch already, so I don't Yeah, well yeah, yeah, it's
- 23:48a free line. Yeah, it comes to Google five, so I just
- 23:52had to pay for the smart watch. But no, honestly, man,
- 23:53I don't know. You look at it this way. If you're an Apple
- 23:56phone user, get an Apple Watch, okay with it. If you're gonna
- 24:00be a Google or if you're an Android user, you've got multitude of choices.
- 24:04You've got the Galaxy Gear huh, made by Samsung, right, yep,
- 24:08You've got the Google Pixel right, You've got oh gosh, help me
- 24:11out here, Sean, I'm a handful of the fitbits. Fit is Google
- 24:17now anyway, but yeah, why why? Yeah, they make a forty
- 24:25seven million I was gonna say that I had no idea that why is made
- 24:29of watch and it's cheap. Really, I'm sure, I'm sure it's not
- 24:32great. I haven't seen also going to act cheap too. You do have
- 24:37some multitude options with if you're Android. Obviously, I picked pixel Watch because
- 24:42it is their flagship watch. Now. Galaxy Gear is another good option,
- 24:48especially if you're on a Samsung device. Maybe you want to go with the
- 24:52Galaxy Watch. But I personally like the Google pixel Watch. This is their
- 24:56first iteration of it, so it's just gonna get better from here. Meanwhile,
- 25:02you know, galaxies got I don't know how many iterations they've got out,
- 25:04eight, nine, ten. I think they're seven or eight now.
- 25:07For the Galaxy watch is what my in law's got, and they really liked
- 25:12them, and they were able to figure it out most things out right without
- 25:15my help. But if I could just ask for one thing for the next
- 25:18Google Picksel watch, well, I would like a bigger bezel. I want
- 25:22a big watch. I want the screen to be bigger. It's not big
- 25:26at all. I mean, yeah, it may look big, I don't
- 25:29know, but it's not. It's it's a forty forty two or forty four
- 25:33millimeter watch face. It's not big enough. I would I would pay extra
- 25:40to have an extra large version of this with an extra large screen. I'm
- 25:44talking about those comically large watches that people have on their wrists. I would
- 25:49pay for that if I could get that in a smart watch. Yeah,
- 25:52you want like the flavor flav on your wrist, right, I mean maybe
- 25:55not that big. And if if you're super into outdoor activities and like tracking
- 26:02like body fitness and your outdoor stuff, garment makes a handful of watching the
- 26:06garment garments. Okay, yeah, if you're in it just straight up.
- 26:08For the fitness aspect of it, garment is the way to go. Yeah,
- 26:11obviously, garment because that that was what they focused on. The GPS
- 26:15capabilities, the LTE being able to be away from your smartphone, the fitness
- 26:21tracking, the sensors they have on it with like body temperature, heartbeat,
- 26:26um, uh, hydration they can they can get the level of hydration in
- 26:33your body to let you know when to drink well you're too dehydrates. We've
- 26:37heard stories about people that have had um, you know, they've had heart
- 26:42conditions and they've had a situation where they had to get in and get see
- 26:48a doctor, like right away. And we've heard a story about how I
- 26:51think it was the Apple Watch is the one that sent the notification to the
- 26:55gentleman saying, you know, you need to see a doctor. Um,
- 26:57because it was able to read just that to be a very serious problem.
- 27:03So I actually have that feature on. So there's a couple of cool features
- 27:06that Apple has as well, but so does a Google Pixel. I have
- 27:08the ability for it to tell me if I'm having a heart attack right now.
- 27:14Thankfully I've never had it happen. Obviously, Um, and I'm afraid.
- 27:18You know, there's no way to think about it. I mean,
- 27:21how do you how do you test the sensor to let you know if you
- 27:23have a heart attack. I mean you can't really just stop your heart for
- 27:26a moment just to be like, hey, I'm wonder if this you'll figure
- 27:30out. Yeah, you'll see how how fast your heartbeat will go. Well,
- 27:33I it does tell me if I have a lot of caffeine. It'll
- 27:36say, hey, your heart rate is spiking right now, and I'm like,
- 27:38okay, it's time to time to lay off the caffeine for a little
- 27:41bit. That's my secret. I just give my caffee level really high.
- 27:47So you like, when I'm resting you, it's like your average is lower?
- 27:52Are you okay? Yeah? Well, well you know I you you
- 27:56guys know that I have. I've had a situation with attack a cardia where
- 28:00suddenly my heart And it happened first time here at this station when I was
- 28:04on the air in the morning, and I remember I went to go this
- 28:07when a chit Indianna were here and I went in and I asked him,
- 28:10I said, do you have any aspirin? She's like, wow, you
- 28:12look kind of flush, and I told him, well, I feel something
- 28:15kind of weird. And I went to the Northwest upper here on Duval and
- 28:21lachan Yana and they tested my heart and I was two hundred and twelve beats
- 28:26per minute. Oh yeah. So my dad had had had to have part
- 28:32of his valve a bladed at one point, probably when I was in my
- 28:34teens, because he had what they call hyper attack a cardia. So he
- 28:41would just be sitting there and all of a sudden he'd be like, oh
- 28:44his heart rate, his heart rate would jump to like two sixty yeah,
- 28:47oh my lord. Yeah, and so it would make him really lightheaded and
- 28:52dizzy and stuff. And yeah. So they went in and it bladed it
- 28:55basically like put a balloon in, stretched it out and then shocked a part
- 28:59of his heart right and then got it back into Wow. Yeah. They
- 29:03they end up stopping stopping my heart and then uh, I kind of woke
- 29:07up and and then what and saw that. I stayed at night in the
- 29:10hospital and then they told me it's it can happen, and when it happens,
- 29:14it's what you do. Pound your chest, cough and then start have
- 29:18to see a cardiologist. But at least that's crazy. I mean, but
- 29:22I was gonna say, well, I was gonna say when it comes to
- 29:23technology, before you get to your point, h Cardia Systems. They make
- 29:29a reader that is for you. You may have seen the ads. They're
- 29:32like ninety nine bucks. You can get up for seventy nine dollars if you
- 29:36ever are in that situation where you want to check to say, hey,
- 29:37my heart's going a little fast. For me, it's been great because you
- 29:41know, I might get that feeling of flushness and I'll check it and go,
- 29:44oh, I'm up to one eighty. So again, those are that's
- 29:48a really good piece of technology that's out there, paired with a smartphone where
- 29:51you can kind of keep track of it, and that's by Cardia KA r
- 29:53D i A Systems. I did look at Cardia because I also have sometimes
- 29:57where I get a little weird demand just I'm like, I'm like, oh,
- 30:00wow, what does that? You know? But I've heard I can't
- 30:03remember exactly what it was, but there was something about Cardia that people were
- 30:07just ripping them apart about. I think it was something like their subscription model.
- 30:11Yeah, they or something. Do your research if you're looking at Cardia.
- 30:15Do your research because there is some hidden stuff about them that may make
- 30:21it not quite right. I think it depends on the level because I'm a
- 30:26big fan of theirs. And yeah, they do have a subscription model where
- 30:30you could pay to get extended tests to test for two other symptoms that you
- 30:36may be going through. But if you're looking for just I want to get
- 30:37my what my heartbeat is now, and it keeps track of that, you
- 30:41can even send it to a doctor. That that part is free when you
- 30:45buy the Cardia device itself, so that comes with it with the app.
- 30:49But yeah, there are more extended tests than maybe and you know, as
- 30:52always with all apps, people say, wait a minute, I didn't know
- 30:55I had to pay for this. There are certain things you can pay for.
- 30:57We find every app with with basically all these smart watches that we've been
- 31:03talking about, you get that for free. You get basic heart monitoring for
- 31:07free. I mean that comes with it, even with the fit with the
- 31:11Google pixel Watch, you don't have to subscribe to the fitbit premium to get
- 31:15your heart rate. I mean that's just included automatically. The other feature that
- 31:21I really wanted to mention about that it comes on Apple Watches, it comes
- 31:23on Google Pixel Watches. I'm assuming it comes on the Galaxy Gear and maybe
- 31:30even the garment is fall detection. Now, this is really good for older
- 31:36folks. You know, my mom lives alone. You know, she's getting
- 31:40older, and I told her, I said, you know, maybe you
- 31:41should consider one of these things because she can't. He's not very mobile and
- 31:47so if she for to fall down. I mean again, she lives alone
- 31:49and she doesn't really have people come over very often. So you know,
- 31:52if she fell down, god forbid, she could be down for a long
- 31:56time. So to have the fall detection, and I tell listed it on
- 32:00the pixel watch. I actually I was like, you know, just hanging
- 32:04out. Well, oh my god, sorry, so you tested it.
- 32:13I tested it. I was just I was just standing around and I just
- 32:15went as like boom and I went limp and I just fell down and just
- 32:19to see. And sure enough, the watch was like we just detected a
- 32:22faull. Do you need to call nine one one? Wow? And you
- 32:24got ten seconds to respond if you don't respond with intense thing as it calls
- 32:29nine one one for you, kind of like crash context we see in the
- 32:30iPhones. Yeah, yeah, so I was like, no, I'm okay.
- 32:34I clicked okay whatever, and it was okay. But it was cool
- 32:37to have that feature that if it detects that a sudden quick desceleration, and
- 32:42it probably also registers some about your heart rate and stuff like that. But
- 32:45I don't know exactly how it works, but it does work. It.
- 32:49I'll be honest with you, and I will say this for those who don't
- 32:52have the technology now. And I've told the story before. My mom used
- 32:55to have Life Alert and Life Alert I believe in. I think that's a
- 33:00great product, but she had a friend and a friend told her to get
- 33:05rid of it, so you don't need it and you have your your phone.
- 33:09Well, I talked to my mom that night. I was June twenty
- 33:14first, twenty fourteen, and I talked to her that night, and she
- 33:17suddenly had decided she was going to move out to Tucson. She wanted to
- 33:22rent the house we had in Huntington's buy a house here that had a kind
- 33:27of a it's almost like it's kind of it's kind of cool. It's a
- 33:30house. Then you have a side house, and she wanted to live in
- 33:32that and we would be there because she was going to be eighty and it
- 33:36was going to be a neat thing and was cool. Well, the next
- 33:38day, you know, she had told me you call me tomorrow get me
- 33:40the info about these houses that were out here, and I said, okay,
- 33:44cool, I will I called and didn't get her called my Finally I
- 33:47called my sister in the afternoon and I said, you talked to mom,
- 33:51and you know, can you go check on her because she hasn't answer And
- 33:53that's unlike her. Turned out. Mom used to have a habit of taking
- 33:58the phone with her in the bathroom, as her friend had told her to
- 34:00do that. One night she had not and when she was in the bathroom
- 34:05if she had a stroke, and that stroke left her in the bathroom for
- 34:08about ten I want to say, now ten hours is what they estimated in
- 34:14and luckily they got there. They were able to you know, call call
- 34:17nine one one, get her the treatment, get her to the hospital.
- 34:21She did only last about five days six days after that. But I always
- 34:25think, what if she had the life alert because you know, responding to
- 34:29a stroke within within hours is very important. Yeah, so there's the you
- 34:34know fast right, yea arms speech time right exactly, So if your face
- 34:39troops, your arms are you can't lift your right arm or left arm right,
- 34:44and then speech storing speech and then time and unfortunately, so that's a
- 34:49big you know, that's a huge thing for people. My grandfather had a
- 34:52stroke, right, yeah, and you know, so it's I just want
- 34:53to say that to people out there, if you're not if you're not familiar
- 34:57with that, those are the signs of a stroke, right, so asked
- 35:00if you don't have one, if you don't have life alert, if you
- 35:04don't, and I recommend that for anybody that is especially alone. But if
- 35:07you don't have it, make sure that phone is always always with you.
- 35:09And because of that, that's why you'll very rarely see me without the phone.
- 35:14And it's just the habit, you know, it's charged to always carry
- 35:16it because just never never know and yet for to get you to answer the
- 35:21phone. Yeah, that's another all right, we go to take a quick
- 35:24break. We'd come back. We got more technology. We'd love your comments.
- 35:29You can email us tech guys at tech talk radio dot com. You
- 35:32could text us anytime at five two zero seven seven seven ninety five eighty.
- 35:37I'm Andy Taylor. I'm Sean dew weird and I'm justin. Let me find
- 35:42us on Facebook at facebook dot com forward slash tech Talkers. We'll be right
- 35:46back and now back to tech talk radio. So we talked about the watches
- 35:52in the last segment. Yeah, and I mentioned that Wise had watches that
- 35:58just blows me away. They have all sorts of I've always right. So
- 36:06they have two watches. They have a forty seven millimeter, which is the
- 36:09size that I have the same same as my Apple Watch, and then they
- 36:12have a forty four millimeters, so a little bit smaller. It's not gonna
- 36:15be anything fancy for the price which of thirty three ninety nine. Wait,
- 36:20thirty three dollars Wise Watch forty seven c right, it's forty seven millimeter thirty
- 36:30three ninety nine. That's crazy, dude. That thing has got to be
- 36:34crap, you know. Yeah, I don't know. I've never used it.
- 36:37I've never read any reviews on it. I pass it off as a
- 36:42cheap fitbit or something. So if anybody out there has a Wise Watch,
- 36:45tell us how you like it. All Right, I'm gonna I'm gonna hit
- 36:47in four different colors. Yeah, I'm gonna have to get one because and
- 36:52then they're forty four millimeter is twenty nine and oh my lord, that does
- 36:59doesn't do your Does it do your heartbeat? Does it do? That?
- 37:00Says? It has a heart rate sensor, it has a blood auction sensor.
- 37:05It's got you know, an accelerometer in it, it's got it's got
- 37:09a it's got a you know, a vibration motor in it so it can
- 37:12vibrate under risk. Right. So yeah, if you're if you're looking for
- 37:16a cheap watch that you want to just try out, or if you want
- 37:20to get a watch a smart watching kid or something, you have to try
- 37:23it. We're gonna start doing our Remember the TV segments we used to be
- 37:28on every week, and then we went to every like I two weeks,
- 37:31and then it's been like once a month whenever they got a new guy that's
- 37:36doing KLD. So then they asked me, they said, well, we
- 37:38really want you on Fox eleven still, so we're gonna go back to once
- 37:43once a week. So I'm thinking, okay, cool, Maybe I'll have
- 37:46to get one of these watches and show that what you should do is you
- 37:49should be like the in Dick Tracy where you just pull up your sleeve and
- 37:52you've got like twelve watch and the review each one. I actually had the
- 37:58do you guys remember Microsoft put out the Dick Tracy Watch. Yeah, yep,
- 38:01yeah, I actually have that. Still I don't have the charger,
- 38:05so I really can't do much with it. But yeah, I got one
- 38:07of those watches when Microsoft put that out, and you know, sitting in
- 38:10one of the boxes next to the first MP three player. But yeah,
- 38:15that would be kind of cool, that would be kind of neat. I
- 38:16like that. Yeah, you should get you should get one of the get
- 38:19one of each, right, Joshin you mentioned something that what does Wise not
- 38:24have? And they don't have what I just bought for my new camper,
- 38:29And what did they backup camera? A backup camera like for so you back
- 38:34up the trailer the camper. Yeah, so there's Furyon is a is a
- 38:37manufacturer for a camper electronics and those things like that. Um, they make
- 38:43cameras that mount to the back of your camera. Ours came pre wired with
- 38:46a You can just buy the camera and you just basically click it into place
- 38:51and then it works with the mater and everything. I'm pretty sure you could
- 38:53just strap a WISE cam to the back of your trailer and call it a
- 38:57day. I probably could. I probably could if if I ran, if
- 39:00I ran the media server with the Wi Fi, right like I did in
- 39:05my old camper, then I just connected to my phone and be on the
- 39:07WiFi the whole time. Yeah, that would be kind of neat. But
- 39:09a backup cameras, it would integrate to maybe a screen in your dashboard,
- 39:14right, Yeah, it comes with a four and a half You know,
- 39:16they make multiple sizes, right, So Furyon makes a single camera model that's
- 39:22a four and a half inch monitor, and then you can add more cameras,
- 39:25right. So they make side marker lights, so you can add cameras
- 39:30that mount to the side markers on each side of your camp so you can
- 39:32see down the side, back down the sides of cameras as well. So
- 39:37that company's Furyon. How do you spell that? I you R R I
- 39:40O N. All Right. They're a very well known electronics company in the
- 39:45RV world, right, So you guys have to remember, right, if
- 39:47I drive fifteen minutes down the road, I met Furyon's world headquarters. Oh
- 39:54I live. I live in the RV capital of the world, part Indiana?
- 39:59Is I could drive five minutes down the road out in Elkhart County.
- 40:02My camper was made fifteen minutes from my house. Oh now that's kind of
- 40:07eight right, So for those you don't know, you've got yourself a really
- 40:12sweet camper. This is so we bought a Forest River no Forest River,
- 40:17no boundaries, which is kind of one of their outdoor, more aggressive outdoory
- 40:22type ones, off the grid type stuff. So it's got integrated solar,
- 40:27got an integrated inverter um, it's got the underbody is completely sealed right,
- 40:32so that it's got so it doesn't get exposed to the elements. It's got
- 40:36water and water, water tank heaters and water the holding tank heaters and stuff.
- 40:42So it could be truly like you could go to a cold climate and
- 40:46you know, not your you know, your waterlines are not gonna freeze,
- 40:50and your your fresh water lines are not gonna freeze. Your fresh water tank's
- 40:53not gonna freeze kind of stuff. Now you gonna put You had a plex
- 40:55server that was running in that, are you gonna do the same thing.
- 41:00Yeah, So this model actually has a twelve volt TV already in it,
- 41:02so I've already got Yeah, it's gott a TV mounted on the side and
- 41:07stuff. So I've already got my Raspberry Pie mounted with a four terriby hard
- 41:10drive with all my content on it ready to go, just like I had
- 41:14in my in my other camper. Right, but this is I didn't have
- 41:15to wire it in right like I did before ride to wire it into the
- 41:20radio and get twelve vold and adapted. This is all just I have twelve
- 41:24old available right at the TV and I can just plug it all in.
- 41:29Um, So when can I come stay with you? Now? Maybe this
- 41:32summer we can make a trip out what like were we want to travel?
- 41:36So you know we could look at the campus spot in Colorado? Right,
- 41:38you know it's like, yeah, we stayed just north of Denver when we
- 41:43we bought our first camper in twenty twenty and we turned it around and went
- 41:45out west and on our way back through we stopped just north of Denver.
- 41:51I don't even remember where. We stayed Fort Collins or something like that,
- 41:54and then drove in and had a lunch with Justin and child in the camp
- 42:00or stuff, and then drove the rest lay back. Have you been looking
- 42:04in uh? Because starlink obviously you want to have Internet wherever you're at.
- 42:07Would starlink be a kind of a solution for you, Yeah, if we
- 42:13were going to be more remote off the grid, right, if we were
- 42:15going to be doing living in it or something. Right. But you know,
- 42:20when we traveled out west and in our travels where we go, we're
- 42:23never outside of majority of cell coverage, right. We might have low cell
- 42:29coverage or something, right, Um, but if we needed to, I
- 42:32could just get you know, a flag you know, a flagpole with a
- 42:37with a five G repeater or something on it and get a little bit boost,
- 42:39a little bit of a boost that way. But I would never Maybe
- 42:43my parents have looked into starlink because they're doing a lot more motor home traveling.
- 42:45Yeah, but starlink also has kind of They were allowing people they had
- 42:52the home stations to take them and use them mobile, right, But then
- 42:54they separated it. They separated the plans, so you can't the base station
- 43:00and then they have the mobile, right, So you can't use one for
- 43:04both or one. You can't interchange them. You have to have both or
- 43:07one or the other. And if you don't, Yeah, it's it's a
- 43:10weird thing for starlake. So for those listening that have ever thought I want
- 43:15to I want to get an RV and I want to travel. You know,
- 43:19um, like what you're doing. Are there websites that you've been able
- 43:22to use to kind of help in that experience when you're traveling, like finding
- 43:25do you do that beforehand? You book? Okay, we're gonna go to
- 43:29this place, We're gonna park there and stay there. Oh yeah, there's
- 43:31there's tons of websites to use. Um. And one of the ones that
- 43:37I really like is called Harvest Hosts, which is a where a member we're
- 43:40members of that and it's it's Harvest Hosts is a collection of businesses, wineries,
- 43:50golf courses, things that have large parking lots or space and they say,
- 43:55hey, we have a parking lot. So if you're traveling through and
- 44:00you need to stop for the night, just pull into our parking lots.
- 44:02There a parking lot, have dinner here. You know, you pay fourteen
- 44:07bucks a night or whatever or how they charge. They just they just ask
- 44:10that you patron the business, right right, So you just pull in their
- 44:15parking lot. Some of them, you know, and it's grown significantly since
- 44:20we started using it. So if some places actually have sites now. Some
- 44:23places have hook up some people. Sometimes it's just you pull into the parking
- 44:27lot, you stay in the parking lot overnight, right, right. But
- 44:30sometimes you can go and you know, play around to golf and you get
- 44:31to stay in the parking lot for free or stuff like that. So it's
- 44:35called Harvest Host. It's an app. But what's cool about that too is
- 44:38that also it's important to be able to know where you can dump your septic.
- 44:47On this site, you can find locations that allow you to do that.
- 44:53Right most of the times. You know, if you're going to a
- 44:55state park, obviously that's included. But if you're going and you're just traveling
- 44:59and you're staying at these different places, you just kind of need to know
- 45:02where you can do that for free. Sometimes it's not free. Sometimes you
- 45:06get to pay a fee that kind of stuff. But I also included in
- 45:09that that'd be a lot of fun to do. All right, We got
- 45:12to take another quick break, but when we come back, justin it's kind
- 45:15a little info about AI. We talk about AI and it's becoming more and
- 45:20more the buzz. We'll talk more about that when we come back. I'm
- 45:22Andy Taylor, I'm Seanda Weird and I'm Justin. Let me find us on
- 45:27the web at tech talk radio dot com. We'll be right back now back
- 45:30to TikTok Radio. Welcome to tech talk Radio today. We're driving. Excuse
- 45:37me, hold on, I'm trying to do a chat GPP intro here right
- 45:39right. I've made this because listen, welcome to tech talk Radio Today.
- 45:44We're diving into the electrifying world of AI, where developers are racing to create
- 45:47the ultimate intelligence. But beware as we explore the dangerous possibility that our quest
- 45:52for the perfect AI could unleash a sentient force wait eager to overpower humanity rather
- 46:00than aid it. Stay tuned for a gripping conversation on AI's potential dark side
- 46:06minute right here on tech talk Radio. He wrote that AI actually wrote that
- 46:10that's actually kind of scary. Yeah, yeah, hey, I wrote that.
- 46:14I told it to write me a five fifteen second intro. And I
- 46:16want to introduce the topic of AI and the race, the arms race that
- 46:21we're having to create the best AI and how it can really honestly maybe be
- 46:25a bad thing for humanity. And speaking of that, I mean there this
- 46:30last week there was a major major event that happened. Jeffrey Hinton. You
- 46:36probably don't know the name Jeffrey Hinton, but he has been called the godfather
- 46:39of AI. He actually has now confirmed as of last week he's left his
- 46:45role at Google last week because he's concerned about AI. This arms race that
- 46:52I mentioned people they want to create the best AI and they're not concerned about
- 46:57what could possibly mean for humanity at large. And he says basically, um,
- 47:04he's talking about other things like um uh. He he left Google so
- 47:07he could speak freely about the risks of AI, rather than because of a
- 47:13desire to criticize Google specifically. He's not trying to criticize Google, but he's
- 47:16just talking about the dangers of AI. Um. It's uh, there's a
- 47:22lot of stuff going on here. I mean there's a lot of big tech
- 47:25wigs. I mean even Elon Musk and other people. They're talking about we
- 47:30need to slow down the development of AI. AI has become this new buzzword.
- 47:36I mean, it has become the new big thing. Everybody wants to
- 47:37talk about AI. They want to put AI in everything, They want to
- 47:40put AI and everything, and it's it's it's it's dangerous. I mean,
- 47:45one wrong move on a programmer's side. They could literally program an AI to
- 47:52become sentient and seek power, and God forbid this AI somehow gets control of
- 48:00nuclear weapons or something like that, because you know, I mean think about
- 48:05it. You go back to like what Hollywood AI terminator, Skynet, the
- 48:09end of humanity the roar. I mean, yeah, well wargames wasn't as
- 48:15a much darker and wasn't was AI the big computer? Yeah? Or how
- 48:22yes? Yeah? How? But see the thing is I mean I look
- 48:25at it more like Skynet really honestly, I mean, it is seeking to
- 48:30destroy humanity. And that's kind of what they're saying, is you guys gotta
- 48:36be careful. You guys got to slow down a little bit here. Yeah.
- 48:38I was telling a friend about that and that, you know, their
- 48:40concerns and and how we're seeing AI being used, and they said, we'll
- 48:44just pull the plug. I don't think it'll be as easy as no,
- 48:47because there's too much money and it's a corporate greed. I mean it's literally
- 48:51it's make this possible so we can make as much money off of it as
- 48:54possible, with disregard for what it actually means for humanity. Well you and
- 49:00you look at the long term effects justin we've already seen newspapers, uh,
- 49:05magazines already laying off writers because honestly, you can have a you can have
- 49:09a paragraph driven driven television commentators. I've seen it used AI where they replicate
- 49:17somebody the mouth works perfectly, it looks well, there is something uncanny about
- 49:22it, as as Sean as he was uncanny Valley, but even voice.
- 49:27And what scares me is the ability to create a world event with a world
- 49:31leader that would be broadcast to get us to have a reaction. And that
- 49:37scares me. That's that's huge. I mean, speaking of audio and stuff
- 49:42like that, there was they used AI to generate a not one, not
- 49:46two, not three, but multiple fake songs by Drake. Drake the the
- 49:52hip hop artist that did it with Beatles this week Yeah they did with the
- 49:57Beatles. They did it with Drake and featuring the weekend. Uh you know,
- 50:00not not the weekends on Saturday Sunday, but the weekend as the rap
- 50:04artist, the pop artist whatever, ladies and gentlemen, the weekend pop artist.
- 50:07Yeah, the weekend. Yeah. Um, but people didn't know.
- 50:09They were like, oh my God, the new Drake and Weekend track just
- 50:12dropped. No, it didn't, it was AI. AI made it.
- 50:16Now. The one thing is we haven't figured out yet. I posted this
- 50:21on my Facebook page a couple of days ago or whatever, but there was
- 50:23like a creepy AI video about they used AI to generate a pizza commercial.
- 50:31Have you seen that? Sean? Yes, it's Oh my god, it
- 50:36is. It is horrendous. It's so creepy. I mean the people aren't
- 50:38even looking at the camera. Their eyes are like all crazy all over the
- 50:42screen, their mouths, they're moving in unnatural ways. Um, it just
- 50:46it doesn't make any sense at all, but it is a darn good first
- 50:51attempt at trying to figure out AI video creation to make something out of nothing
- 50:58and so pretty. I mean, we've already seen static images. Remember the
- 51:02Pope and the Balenciaga Yeah, uh, everybody thought that was real. Yeah.
- 51:07Well how about this for those that didn't hear it, this was done
- 51:12with voice AI and this Well, when I need to get the latest in
- 51:15tech, I listened to Justin and Sean and Andy on tech talk radio.
- 51:21I mean again, you could, Lord, you could take that voice,
- 51:24replicate that and say any President Biden. That was supposed to be you know,
- 51:29President Biden. And again that was easy as me saying it into the
- 51:34computer and it coming out with that voice. I need him to be saying
- 51:37Pepperoni hug Spot all right, I will, I will put that's the name
- 51:42of the name hu. What can people do? I say, people learn
- 51:50it? I say people should use chat GPT and learn what it's all about
- 51:54and learn how to use it because a lot of people try it and they
- 51:58don't understand it, but then you learned how powerful it is. Most a
- 52:01lot of jobs right now, I mean, god, this is crazy.
- 52:05Is how many jobs right now are actually hiring specifically for people that have AI
- 52:10experience, chat GPT experience, how to navigate, how to use chat GPT.
- 52:15They're hiring people specifically for that role. Yeah, that's how crazy it's
- 52:21becoming already and it's not even been a year and this is this is this
- 52:24crazy. I mean, I can't even imagine what another year is gonna look
- 52:28like. So where's the best way to find out about what's going on in
- 52:30AI? I mean, honestly, we'll talk about it when it comes up.
- 52:35I say, I tell people go to a open AI dot com and
- 52:37you can sign up for free que Well okay, yeah you if you want
- 52:40to try it, yeah, sure, go to go to yeah open ai
- 52:44and sign up for a chat GBT. If you want to learn about what's
- 52:46going on, I would say reddit. There's a there's a subreddit called futurology.
- 52:52Um that's a really good subreddit and that talks about everything AI related and
- 52:58what's happening. That's where I learned about all the stuff that I just told
- 53:00you about, right, um, So yeah, I just I'd say reddit
- 53:02in future ology Subreddit. We'll see if we can put those links up.
- 53:06At tech Talk Radio quick Break, we come back. New game that Sean
- 53:08is very excited about. We'll tell you about that coming up next. I'm
- 53:12Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm justin. Let me remember
- 53:15don't go a bike writing. We'll be right back and now back to tech
- 53:21Talk Radio. Hey goo by the Science guy here whatever I am listening to
- 53:25the radio, especially Tech Talk Radio Party quick video game up dates. All
- 53:34right, if you're a Zelda fan, Zelda Breath the New Breath of the
- 53:37Wild. Breath of the Wild too. Here's the Kingdom has been fully leaked
- 53:42online. Whoa really Now, it's just like Super Mario Brothers ending up on
- 53:45Twitter the whole movie. Physical physical copies got sent out more than two weeks
- 53:50early, and it took less than twenty four hours for them to be uploaded
- 53:52fully playable as PC emulation. Wow. Now, how could something like that
- 53:58happen? Because people are there's there's there's tons of rumors about it. But
- 54:01it's like, you know, people are mad at Nintendo. They're mad at
- 54:05Nintendo because of the hacker, Greg Bowser. But this guy hacked Nintendo and
- 54:09they basically forced him to pay, so he's gonna be paying Nintendo for the
- 54:13rest of his life. He spent a bunch of time in jail and he
- 54:15has to pay them for the rest of his life. So yeah, hackers
- 54:19are mad. We're gonna People have already beat the game. Wow, literally
- 54:23the entire game is out. There's videos people were streaming about a Twitch and
- 54:28got instantly removed from Twitch. Like Nintendo, they will come after you so
- 54:31hard, so swift, so furious, relentless Nina Nintendo Ninja. Well,
- 54:38I mean this is their property. There's her ip. I'd be I'd be
- 54:42upset too. We're gonna make hand over fist money on this game. Yeah.
- 54:45I also have the new World Warcraft patches out today, so go play.
- 54:47All right whatever the other game, what is it called again, Breath
- 54:52of the Wild too, all right, here's Tears of the Kingdom. All
- 54:54right, good deal, all right, that's it, Quick week, Quick
- 54:58week for this week's tech Talk Radio. I'm Add Taylor, I'm Seandaw Weird,
- 55:01and I'm justin. Let me once again find us on the web at
- 55:04tech talk radio dot com, where we're going to post all the links to
- 55:07today's show. Have a great week, See you next time.
