Golden State Warriors have agreed to sign Guard Brandon Podziemski,
• 0:22
to a five year one hundred ten million dollars extension, according to
• 0:25
multiple reports on Saturday morning. ESPN's Sham Sharania was first report on
• 0:31
the extension. Podziemsky, twenty three, was entering the final year of his
• 0:35
rookie deal after the dubs took him with the number nineteen overall
• 0:39
pick in the first round of the twenty twenty three NBA draft.
• 0:42
The Guard has started just under half of his games played in
• 0:45
three seasons so far, averaging eleven point six points, five point three
• 0:50
rebounds, and three point six assists per game. Podziemsky averaged a career
• 0:55
high 13.8 points per game last season, a year in which he
• 0:59
played in all 82 games for Golden State. According to Karania and
• 1:03
Anthony Slater, a longtime Warriors reporter now at ESPN, Podziemsky's new deal
• 1:08
starts with an eighteen point nine million dollar salary in the 2027-28
• 1:13
season, includes a mutual option for the 2030-32 season, and has a
• 1:18
trade kicker. Had Podziemsky reached restricted free agency, the Warriors would have
• 1:23
had to keep a salary cap slot for him at seventeen million
• 1:27
dollars, so the New Deal puts a rather small dent into Golden
• 1:30
State's expected cap space next summer. Podziemsky was the first player Mike
• 1:35
Dunlavey Jr. Drafted after he took Over the general manager spot for
• 1:39
Bob Myers back in twenty twenty three. After a strong rookie season,
• 1:43
the Warriors made their belief in the former Santa Clara Guard clear,
• 1:47
with owner Joe Lacup saying he believed Podziemsky could be a future
• 1:51
All Star, and the team mostly refusing to consider including him in
• 1:54
any offseason trade talks. Over the last two seasons, though, Podzgiemsky has
• 2:00
been a polarizing player for the Warriors, particularly among the fan base.
• 2:04
His struggles during his second year got called out by coach Steve
• 2:07
Kerr several times publicly. Podsgemsky has also been a colorful quote when
• 2:12
doing media appearances, though one quote about trying to be better than
• 2:15
Steph Curry put an intense spotlight on him. When he struggled last
• 2:20
season, Warriors fans were harsh on him and some even booed Pozimski
• 2:24
when he was shown on the scoreboard at a Giants game. But
• 2:28
all along the Warriors Front Office has continued to hold Podsiemsky in
• 2:31
a high regard, and got Podziemsky signed to a long term deal
