Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations

rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, January 28th.

Wisdom for real life. Have you ever felt overwhelmed
• 0:14
by how many voices are competing for your attention?
• 0:17
Every scroll, every notification, every opinion
• 0:20
seems to tell you who you should be, what you should want, and
• 0:23
how you should live. It's noisy out there, and if
• 0:27
you're not careful, you can end up drifting, following trends,
• 0:30
chasing quick thrills, or making choices that feel good in the
• 0:33
moment but leave you empty later.
• 0:35
That's why Proverbs Chapter 9, verse 6 is such a clear
• 0:38
invitation. It says leave your simple ways
• 0:41
and live and walk in the way of insight.
• 0:44
God isn't insulting anyone by calling them simple.
• 0:46
He's calling us higher. He's saying there's more to life
• 0:49
  than reacting, copying, or coasting.
• 0:52
Wisdom is an intentional choice. It's deciding to grow up
• 0:55
spiritually, to think deeper, and to walk a path that actually
• 0:59
leads somewhere good. Psalm 12 reminds us why that
• 1:02
matters so much. Verse 6 says the words of the
• 1:05
Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the
• 1:09
ground, purified 7 times. People's words can be
• 1:12
  unreliable. Promises get broken, advice
• 1:15
  changes, influencers contradict themselves.
• 1:18
But God's word is different. It's tested, refined, and
• 1:21
  trustworthy. When everything else feels
• 1:24
shaky, God's word stays solid. It doesn't manipulate.
• 1:28
It doesn't exaggerate. It tells the truth even when the
• 1:31
truth is uncomfortable because it's meant to lead you to life.
• 1:34
Then Jesus brings it home. In Matthew chapter 25, He
• 1:38
explains that what you do with what God has given you actually
• 1:41
matters. He says for to everyone who has
• 1:44
will more be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the
• 1:47
one who has, not even what He has will be taken away.
• 1:51
That's not about favoritism, it's about stewardship.
• 1:54
God gives each of us time, gifts, opportunities, and
• 1:57
influence. When we use them wisely, even in
• 2:00
small ways, He grows them. But when we ignore them, waste
• 2:03
them, or bury them out of fear or distraction, we miss out on
• 2:07
what could have been. Wisdom for real life isn't about
• 2:10
having all the answers. It's about choosing the right
• 2:13
voice. It's about trusting God's Word
• 2:15
over the noise, choosing growth over comfort, and using what you
• 2:19
already have instead of waiting for something bigger or easier.
• 2:22
A wise life isn't built overnight.
• 2:25
It's built through daily decisions to listen, to trust,
• 2:28
and to act in faith. You don't have to be the
• 2:30
loudest, the fastest, or the trendiest to live well.
• 2:33
You just have to be willing to walk an insight, trust God's
• 2:36
Word and be faithful with what's in front of you In a noisy
• 2:40
world. Wisdom leads you to a life that
• 2:42
  lasts. Let's pray.
• 2:44
Heavenly Father, thank you for offering me wisdom in the middle
• 2:47
of so much noise. Help me leave behind shallow
• 2:50
ways of thinking and walk and insight that leads to life.
• 2:53
Teach me to trust Your word as pure and unchanging and give me
• 2:57
the courage to use what You've already placed in my hands.
• 3:00
I want to live with purpose, faith and focus, honoring You in
• 3:03
every choice I make in Jesus name, Amen.
• 3:08

12 World English Bible Wisdom has built her house.
• 4:35
She has carved out her seven pillars.
• 4:37
She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine.
• 4:40
She has also set her table. She has sent out her maidens.
• 4:44
She cries from the highest places of the city.
• 4:46
Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.
• 4:49
As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,
• 4:52
come eat some of my bread, drink some of the wine which I have
• 4:55
mixed. Leave your simple ways and live.
• 4:58
Walk in the way of understanding.
• 5:00
One who corrects A mocker invites insult.
• 5:03
One who reproves a wicked man invites abuse.
• 5:06
Don't reprove A scoffer, lest he hate you.
• 5:08
Reprove a wise person and he will love you.
• 5:11
Instruct a wise person and he will be still wiser.
• 5:14
Teach a righteous person and he will increase in learning.
• 5:18
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom.
• 5:20
The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
• 5:23
For by me your days will be multiplied, the years of your
• 5:26
life will be increased. If you are wise, you are wise
• 5:29
for yourself. If you mock, you alone will bear

it. Psalm Chapter 12 World English

Bible for the chief musician upon an 8 stringed lyre a Psalm
• 5:39
of David. Help Yahweh for the godly man
• 5:41
ceases, for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
• 5:45
Everyone lies to his neighbor. They speak with flattering lips
• 5:49
and with a double heart. May Yahweh cut off all
• 5:52
flattering lips and the tongue that boasts.
• 5:54
Who have said with our tongue we will prevail.
• 5:57
Our lips are our own. Who is Lord over us because of
• 6:00
the oppression of the weak and because of the groaning of the
• 6:02
needy? I will now arise, says Yahweh.
• 6:05
I will set Him in safety from those who malign him.
• 6:08
Yahweh's words are flawless words as silver refined in a
• 6:11
clay furnace, purified 7 times. You will keep them, Yahweh, You
• 6:16
will preserve them from this generation forever.
• 6:18
The wicked walk on every side when what is vile is exalted
• 6:22
among the sons of men. Matthew Chapter 25 World English
• 6:26
Bible Then the Kingdom of heaven will be like 10 virgins who took
• 6:30
their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 5 of them were
• 6:33
foolish and five were wise. Those who were foolish when they
• 6:37
took their lamps took no oil with them, but the wise took oil
• 6:40
in their vessels with their lamps.
• 6:42
Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and
• 6:44
slept. But at midnight there was a cry.
• 6:47
Behold, the bridegroom is coming, come out to meet him.
• 6:51
Then all those virgins arose and trim their lamps.
• 6:54
The foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for
• 6:56
our lamps are going out. But the wise answered, saying,
• 7:00
What if there isn't enough for us?
• 7:01
And you, you go rather to those who sell and buy for yourselves,
• 7:05
while they went away to buy. The bridegroom came, and those
• 7:08
who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the
• 7:11
door was shut. Afterward the other virgins also
• 7:14
came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
• 7:17
But he answered most certainly. I tell you, I don't know you.
• 7:20
Watch therefore, for you don't know the day nor the hour in
• 7:23
which the Son of Man is coming. For it is like a man going into
• 7:26
another country who called his own servants and entrusted his
• 7:30
goods to them. To 1 he gave 5 talents, to
• 7:33
another, two, to another one, to each according to his own
• 7:36
ability. Then he went on his journey.
• 7:39
Immediately. He who received the five talents
• 7:41
went and traded with them and made another 5 talents.
• 7:45
In the same way, he also who got the two gained another 2.
• 7:48
But he who received the one talent went away and dug in the
• 7:51
earth and hid his Lord's money. Now after a long time, the Lord
• 7:55
of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
• 7:58
He who received the five talents came and brought another 5
• 8:01
talents, saying, Lord, you delivered to me 5 talents.
• 8:05
Behold, I have gained another 5 talents in addition to them.
• 8:09
His Lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, you
• 8:13
have been faithful over a few things.
• 8:15
I will set you over many things, enter into the joy of your Lord.
• 8:19
He also who got the two talents came and said, Lord, you
• 8:22
delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another
• 8:25
two talents in addition to them. His Lord said to him, Well done,
• 8:30
good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few
• 8:33
things. I will set you over many things,
• 8:36
enter into the joy of your Lord. He also, who had received the
• 8:39
one talent, came and said, Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard
• 8:43
man, reaping where you didn't sow, and gathering where you
• 8:46
didn't scatter. I was afraid and went away and
• 8:48
hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.
• 8:52
But as Lord answered him, you wicked and slothful servant, you
• 8:56
knew that I reap where I didn't sow, and gather where I didn't
• 8:58
scatter. You ought therefore to have
• 9:00
deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I
• 9:04
should have received back my own with interest.
• 9:06
Take away, therefore, the talent from him, and give it to Him who
• 9:09
has the 10 talents. For to everyone who has will be
• 9:12
given, and He will have abundance, but from him who
• 9:16
doesn't have even that which He has will be taken away.
• 9:19
Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness,
• 9:23
where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
• 9:25
But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy
• 9:28
angels with him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.
• 9:32
Before Him all the nations will be gathered, and He will
• 9:35
separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the
• 9:38
sheep from the goats. He will set the sheep on His
• 9:41
right hand, but the goats on the left.
• 9:43
Then the king will tell those on his right hand, Come, blessed of
• 9:47
my father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the
• 9:49
foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave
• 9:52
me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me
• 9:55
drink. I was a stranger and you took me
• 9:57
in. I was naked and you clothed me.
• 10:00
I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to
• 10:03
me. Then the righteous will answer
• 10:05
him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or
• 10:09
thirsty and give you a drink? When did we see you as a
• 10:11
stranger, and take you in, or naked and clothe you?
• 10:15
When did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?
• 10:18
The king will answer them most certainly, I tell you, because
• 10:21
you did it to one of the least of these, my brothers, You did
• 10:23
it to me. Then he will say also to those
• 10:26
on the left hand, Depart from me.
• 10:29
You cursed into the eternal fire, which is prepared for the
• 10:32
devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you didn't
• 10:35
give me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me no
• 10:38
drink. I was a stranger and you didn't
• 10:40
take me in naked, and you didn't clothe me sick and in prison,
• 10:44
and you didn't visit me. Then they will also answer
• 10:47
saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a
• 10:50
stranger or naked or sick or in prison and didn't help you?
• 10:54
Then He will answer them saying most certainly I tell you,
• 10:57
because you didn't do it to one of the least of these, You
• 11:00
didn't do it to me. These will go away into eternal
• 11:03
punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
