- 0:01Speaker 1: Did you guys see anything about how power was down a.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Little bit the first few weeks in the season, and
- 0:06Speaker 2: then last night happened. Power was down a little bit,
- 0:11Speaker 2: Hombers were down a little bit. The excuse of the
- 0:15Speaker 2: cold weather, which I'm not completely crapping on the cold
- 0:19Speaker 2: weather excuse.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm just the ball is.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Not going to travel as much as far in thirty
- 0:24Speaker 2: degrees as it's going to travel in seventy eight degrees. True,
- 0:27Speaker 2: we know that, you know, We're just saying it's not
- 0:30Speaker 2: the excuse for a team scoring a few runs over
- 0:33Speaker 2: a week span.
- 0:35Speaker 3: So plus it's been fifteen games, like we talked about yesterday.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a small sample size.
- 0:39Speaker 2: What we did get was nine players hitting at least
- 0:43Speaker 2: two home runs. Nine players with two homer games?
- 0:46Speaker 3: Were they the Yankees Angels game?
- 0:48Speaker 2: A lot of not all, but a lot of a
- 0:50Speaker 2: lot of power in that that game had three Grisham,
- 0:54Speaker 2: judge and trout. But the record for two homer games
- 1:02Speaker 2: in one night is ten. It was one shy of
- 1:06Speaker 2: the all time record, and this was on a night
- 1:08Speaker 2: when there were ten games, not fifteen. Wow, So that's
- 1:11Speaker 2: pretty impressive. Just to show you the kind of individual
- 1:14Speaker 2: performances that we saw last night and how some power
- 1:18Speaker 2: was definitely all year or last I mean last night
- 1:25Speaker 2: the Mets had two hits to get or.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Two strikeouts.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Well, Francisco, Francisco, I made Francisco last night.
- 1:33Speaker 1: He doesn't have an RBI yet, so.
- 1:34Speaker 3: That means he doesn't have any home rs you know,
- 1:36Speaker 3: which is amazing because it is so good, But also
- 1:40Speaker 3: you know what else? That means what at some point
- 1:42Speaker 3: someone's gonna pay and he's going to get scorching hot.
- 1:45Speaker 1: His numbers are the same almost every year.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I'm saying, at some point someone's gonna pay.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Yeah, we're going to ask Ken about this guy, but
- 1:52Speaker 2: just wanted to highlight this before we start. Jordan Walker
- 1:56Speaker 2: leads baseball with eight home runs.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Last year, but I thought he couldn't hit.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah, well, he's the same age as JJ Weatherholt, who's
- 2:04Speaker 2: two weeks into his big league career something.
- 2:06Speaker 3: But I thought Jordan Marker couldn't hit.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I think he's had the hit tool and the power
- 2:11Speaker 2: wasn't coming along as quickly last year. He had correct
- 2:15Speaker 2: Not every player blows up at twenty twenty one, so.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Once in a while you got to take a chill.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Well, he also did make significant changes. We'll get into this.
- 2:24Speaker 3: What she finally got him to.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Do elevate the baseball more.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Well, they yes, they finally got what. They've been talking
- 2:29Speaker 3: about doing changes for a while and they finally got
- 2:31Speaker 3: him to do it.
- 2:33Speaker 1: He went to drive Line, he went to Chared.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Took his shirt off and they did a mo cap
- 2:41Speaker 3: and now he's hitting dingers. I can tell the difference.
- 2:44Speaker 1: What's a mo cap?
- 2:46Speaker 3: I don't know. That's where they take their shirt off
- 2:48Speaker 3: and they put all the little like black like nuggets
- 2:52Speaker 3: all over your body and then they basically figure out
- 2:55Speaker 3: how your body's moving and it's not moving. The guy
- 2:58Speaker 3: is an absolute monster, and he really never got a
- 3:00Speaker 3: chance to solidify himself in the big leagues. The first
- 3:03Speaker 3: two years he kept getting sent down. He's hitting like
- 3:06Speaker 3: two seventy to eighty, got sent down and he was like,
- 3:09Speaker 3: why did I get sent down? Well, you got to
- 3:11Speaker 3: elevate the ball more. I don't want to I want
- 3:13Speaker 3: to hit. Now he's elevating the ball more and he's
- 3:15Speaker 3: leading the league in homers. Jim Bowden, great call.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Oh, he was obsessed with Jordan Walker and he was
- 3:23Speaker 2: getting a lot of flak for that now, he's not
- 3:27Speaker 2: getting that black patience everyone patients in a long season.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Not for every case. There are some teams that you
- 3:36Speaker 2: should at least consider pressing a panic button for this
- 3:40Speaker 2: early on in a year. How does that happen if
- 3:43Speaker 2: a team stumbles out of the gates and is missing
- 3:46Speaker 2: many key components.
- 3:47Speaker 1: So we are going to start that way. Let's do it.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Charge about here we go.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Houston Astros had a nightmare road trip. They lost six
- 4:00Speaker 2: two to the Mariners. They're six and eleven on the year.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Channeler Rome with this tweet. They've lost eight games in
- 4:05Speaker 2: a row. He called it the ten game road trip
- 4:08Speaker 2: from Hell. They won one game out of ten. It's
- 4:12Speaker 2: their first losing streak of at least eight games since
- 4:14Speaker 2: twenty thirteen, the same year they lost one hundred eleven games.
- 4:17Speaker 2: These were also critical division matchups. I know it's early
- 4:20Speaker 2: in the year, but this is against a team that
- 4:23Speaker 2: is the favorite to win the American League West, and
- 4:26Speaker 2: the Mariners took them out in a four game set.
- 4:29Speaker 2: The Astros also happened to be down a ton of players.
- 4:33Speaker 2: They had five injuries since this road trip started, including
- 4:37Speaker 2: key players like Jeremy Pana they're now missing. Of course,
- 4:41Speaker 2: Hunter Brown. We got that news last week that it's
- 4:43Speaker 2: going to be some extended time. Christian Javier goes down,
- 4:45Speaker 2: The list goes on and on, am I Jake Myers, this.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Is Carlos Carell is happy.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Carlos Correa was pissed.
- 4:53Speaker 3: He I mean he went for the twins who were
- 4:56Speaker 3: really good.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 3: We thought to the Astros, we thought we're gonna be
- 4:59Speaker 3: really good. Yeah, and now they they aren't good. At
- 5:03Speaker 3: least say won one on this road tip. What if
- 5:04Speaker 3: they would have gone to ten? Then think how bad
- 5:06Speaker 3: it would have been. How did we ever win one?
- 5:10Speaker 3: It's a miracle.
- 5:11Speaker 1: And he just said we're a good club playing bad baseball.
- 5:13Speaker 2: That's exactly he had some explosives he did. Do you
- 5:19Speaker 2: like that if you're his teammate, where he's like, screw
- 5:21Speaker 2: the injuries.
- 5:21Speaker 3: How's he doing good? Eight hundred ops? Just under eight
- 5:26Speaker 3: hundred ops? So happy hit guy? Is that what you're saying? No,
- 5:29Speaker 3: I didn't say that. I'm just I just don't really look.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I'm just I'm just saying it's listen, Carlos Krey is
- 5:34Speaker 3: probably the one guy on this team him and probably
- 5:35Speaker 3: al two that can say something like this. But it's
- 5:41Speaker 3: also I don't know. I've been on bad teams and
- 5:43Speaker 3: you try not to you never want to call anybody
- 5:45Speaker 3: out and listen, he tried to do it in the
- 5:47Speaker 3: nicest way possible. I don't know, it's it's just weird.
- 5:52Speaker 3: I don't know. Carlos knows this team better. Carlos has
- 5:54Speaker 3: been through the wars. He knows everything so about this
- 5:57Speaker 3: team and how they react and how they're going to
- 5:59Speaker 3: handle different stuff. It's just hard when you have all
- 6:01Speaker 3: those guys hurt man, guys are trying. I always look
- 6:05Speaker 3: at it like this, and aj Hinch has told us,
- 6:10Speaker 3: and he talked about this with us. You tell your
- 6:13Speaker 3: team not to strike out. The guys aren't going up
- 6:16Speaker 3: there trying to not hit the ball. They're going up
- 6:18Speaker 3: there trying to hit the ball. The Astros are not
- 6:20Speaker 3: going into these games trying to lose. And the one
- 6:22Speaker 3: thing about baseball and crats, I think you agree with
- 6:25Speaker 3: me on this one. It's not a try hard sport.
- 6:28Speaker 3: It's not like football. You can go hit the guy harder,
- 6:31Speaker 3: or you can run a route harder. Basketball you can
- 6:33Speaker 3: run up and down the court faster. Hockey you can
- 6:36Speaker 3: put more pressure. It's a game that you almost are
- 6:39Speaker 3: better when you don't try as hard and you take
- 6:41Speaker 3: a step back and say, Okay, I'm gonna let this happen.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Pete Alonzo, You're welcome, Pete.
- 6:49Speaker 2: But it'll run for Pete the last couple of days.
- 6:51Speaker 3: But it's not a game where the harder you try,
- 6:53Speaker 3: the tighter I grip the bat, the harder I swing.
- 6:56Speaker 3: That actually hinders you a lot in baseball, I'm gonna
- 6:58Speaker 3: throw this pitch harder. It's more of a I need
- 7:00Speaker 3: to take a step back and relax. So that's why
- 7:03Speaker 3: it's kind of different these raw, raw speeches. Everyone's like, oh,
- 7:06Speaker 3: the manager had a meeting. I mean, I think crowds
- 7:08Speaker 3: agree nine times out of ten the manager had a meeting.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Guys walk out of there like all they remember is
- 7:13Speaker 3: like some line the manager drop that was outlandish to everybody.
- 7:18Speaker 3: It's not like we're no one's trying. Everyone's trying.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Can I make one case not against that? But that
- 7:25Speaker 2: does stand out from a pitching perspective. You can certainly
- 7:28Speaker 2: overthrow right and then lose control or command, but in
- 7:32Speaker 2: a playoff game or even just going from a spring
- 7:34Speaker 2: training game to a regular season game like opening day.
- 7:37Speaker 2: We do see velocity bump up for starters, like if
- 7:40Speaker 2: someone's pitching in an empty ballpark versus pitching in October.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Usually see that spike with a starter.
- 7:46Speaker 2: That's the only case in baseball that I can think of, right,
- 7:49Speaker 2: because it's not like, yeah, oh, let me swing harder
- 7:52Speaker 2: at this, and a more violent swing is going to
- 7:54Speaker 2: make a difference. That's not really what the sport is about.
- 7:58Speaker 3: No. And also, they've scored runs. They just can't stop
- 8:02Speaker 3: anyone from scoring runs. It's like they give them a
- 8:05Speaker 3: ten spot every night and they walk a lot and
- 8:07Speaker 3: they're still right hand heavy. They chase a lot too.
- 8:09Speaker 3: That's the other.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Problem that's been a thing for a while now.
- 8:12Speaker 3: They you know jord On, and they tried saying, hey,
- 8:14Speaker 3: sus chances he didn't work out there. They chase a lot.
- 8:18Speaker 3: I mean again, they score. Look at their ops, look
- 8:20Speaker 3: at their average, look at the home runs. All these
- 8:22Speaker 3: numbers are great. The problem is you go to the
- 8:25Speaker 3: other side. You can't win with a six and a
- 8:27Speaker 3: half era. Too many walks, too many, too many guys
- 8:33Speaker 3: on base. There's the problem. Crats.
- 8:42Speaker 2: The world has a chord problem. Wires everywhere it's twenty
- 8:46Speaker 2: twenty six and it is time to get a Ridge wallet.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Five and one. It's not a wallet, it's a charger.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Look at this thing. It sticks to your phone. You
- 8:57Speaker 3: push the button, it charges your phone while you can
- 9:00Speaker 3: charge two different items at the same time. Oh and
- 9:03Speaker 3: don't forget while it's charging. You got a little a
- 9:07Speaker 3: little lean to John that'll help it sit right there.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Appreciate your Ridge wallet.
- 9:11Speaker 1: This is so nice, which is great for me.
- 9:14Speaker 2: If I'm at the airport, I'm watching a game, I
- 9:16Speaker 2: can charge five devices and then I can just watch
- 9:18Speaker 2: something on the phone. Of course, they still have the
- 9:20Speaker 2: wallets that are money too, and we know the code.
- 9:22Speaker 2: It's nice and simple. It's foul foul. One thing to pack.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Five ways to power. You can find Ridge's power bank
- 9:29Speaker 2: at best Buy or our listeners can get ten percent
- 9:31Speaker 2: off at Ridge dot com by using code foul at checkout.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Head to Ridge dot com use code foul and you're
- 9:36Speaker 2: all set. After your purchase, they'll ask you where you
- 9:39Speaker 2: heard about them. Please support ft until them.
- 9:41Speaker 1: We sent you.
- 9:42Speaker 3: They had a ten game road trip and they had
- 9:44Speaker 3: sixty I think they had sixty one walks on a
- 9:46Speaker 3: ten game road trip. That's that's crazy. You're giving the
- 9:52Speaker 3: other team ninety feet free ninety feet sixty different times.
- 9:59Speaker 3: That is the it's a wild number that the pitching
- 10:02Speaker 3: staff has to has to figure out. You ain't getting
- 10:06Speaker 3: Hunter Brown to throw for you for a long time,
- 10:09Speaker 3: Tatsuyo Min. We don't even know what his issue is.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Hater hasn't thrown to any hitters yet. There's there's a
- 10:17Speaker 3: lot going on there. Like I get it, Spencer Arraghetty's
- 10:21Speaker 3: coming back, so he'll give you some better innings. But
- 10:24Speaker 3: a six and a half era a road trip they
- 10:26Speaker 3: don't want to remember. And they leave that road trip
- 10:30Speaker 3: one and nine, they come back to Houston where they
- 10:33Speaker 3: started season five and two. So it's time to get
- 10:37Speaker 3: going because the West isn't going to wait a round
- 10:39Speaker 3: for him. There is as much as they didn't make
- 10:41Speaker 3: the playoffs last year, the West isn't like, oh man,
- 10:44Speaker 3: youel we're definitely scared of the Astros. No, they got
- 10:48Speaker 3: their opportunity to beat the Astros, and the Astros missed
- 10:51Speaker 3: the playoffs for the first time I think in eight years,
- 10:53Speaker 3: and now or didn't win the division for the first
- 10:56Speaker 3: time in eight years, and now the other teams are like, okay,
- 11:01Speaker 3: we feel good about ourselves, especially the Mariners, who had
- 11:03Speaker 3: the worst record in baseball going into that series and
- 11:06Speaker 3: then they swept them and now they're rolling. Mariners were like, oh,
- 11:13Speaker 3: thank you, thank you. Josh Naylor, cal Rowley, Radio, Rose Arena, Julio.
- 11:18Speaker 3: They all got hot in this four game series. And
- 11:21Speaker 3: I forgot I heard the stat when was the last
- 11:23Speaker 3: time they swept the four game It had been forever.
- 11:26Speaker 3: I heard him talking about it last night on This Guy.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I forget when it was, but it was forever swept
- 11:31Speaker 3: the Astros in a four gamer. It had been like forever.
- 11:34Speaker 1: It makes sense. The Astros have been good for a
- 11:37Speaker 1: long time.
- 11:38Speaker 3: So I listen. I don't know what to tell you.
- 11:44Speaker 3: The Astros fans, Uh, take the over, That's what I'll
- 11:49Speaker 3: tell you. Take the over. Yeah, And they need some help.
- 11:52Speaker 3: They need some help on the mound, and I don't
- 11:53Speaker 3: know where they're going to get it, because they now
- 11:55Speaker 3: have called up all their guys. Gordon's uh, JP Frantz
- 11:59Speaker 3: is a all their guys that they were counting on,
- 12:01Speaker 3: they're all up now. And they go past these guys,
- 12:06Speaker 3: I don't know who's left down there and where's the
- 12:08Speaker 3: round Rock? Well, no, sugar Land, sugar Sorry, round Rock,
- 12:13Speaker 3: sugar Land. Frist go, I get it was round Rock,
- 12:15Speaker 3: now sugar Land. But is this a is this a start?
- 12:18Speaker 3: And you know, obviously injuries suck, it's our whole segment.
- 12:22Speaker 3: But the fact that you went out and got Ryan Weiss,
- 12:28Speaker 3: you went out and got Tatsuya my any other starting pitchers?
- 12:35Speaker 3: Did they get hamstrung because they couldn't unload Christian Walker
- 12:39Speaker 3: or east O Parades? Did they hamstring themselves because ownership said, yeah,
- 12:45Speaker 3: we're gonna go and get Carlos Korea last year at
- 12:47Speaker 3: the trade deadline to make a push the last month
- 12:50Speaker 3: of the season, Like, is all are all of the
- 12:54Speaker 3: things the decisions they made ahead of time now coming
- 12:58Speaker 3: to a head two free and early in the season. Yes,
- 13:02Speaker 3: especially if you're looking at possibly two months without your
- 13:05Speaker 3: number one starter. The guy that stops the eight game
- 13:09Speaker 3: losing streaks, they stops them at four because you have
- 13:13Speaker 3: that guy that steps up, Like that's it's a tough
- 13:17Speaker 3: tough road to hoe when your team scoring a ton
- 13:19Speaker 3: of runs and then your pitching stats like, oh that's cool,
- 13:22Speaker 3: I see them scoring runs. You guys want to score
- 13:25Speaker 3: runs too, Like, it's a tough they got They got
- 13:29Speaker 3: to turn it around quick or this American League West
- 13:31Speaker 3: will get out of hand. But the Astros have done
- 13:34Speaker 3: it before twenty twenty four, they had the same starting
- 13:37Speaker 3: record and they came back. But it's a they gotta
- 13:41Speaker 3: get going here.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, the Rangers should be decent. The A's look better,
- 13:47Speaker 2: The Mariners are gonna be good. Angels are off to
- 13:50Speaker 2: a decent start. We'll see if that lasts.
- 13:52Speaker 3: If the Astros didn't make the playoffs last year and
- 13:53Speaker 3: we were wondering if it was a blip or more
- 13:55Speaker 3: of a trend, the way this is going right now,
- 13:56Speaker 3: it looks like it's gonna be a trend unless they
- 13:57Speaker 3: figure something out and change some stuff. That.
- 14:00Speaker 2: One thing I'll say is that when I looked at
- 14:02Speaker 2: their rotation in the off season, after they had completed
- 14:04Speaker 2: all their moves, I was like, is it the deepest rotation? No,
- 14:07Speaker 2: But it didn't look like it was going to turn in.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Problem is they didn't know what they had in a
- 14:11Speaker 3: my right, it didn't.
- 14:13Speaker 2: But you didn't think that you're going to lose him
- 14:14Speaker 2: this quickly in this season right now?
- 14:16Speaker 3: No, But they you know they're counting on Burroughs. He
- 14:18Speaker 3: got whacked yesterday.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Yeah, eleven hits, but under Brown.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Brown Brown is the guy they really count on. You
- 14:25Speaker 3: lose him, It's like, okay.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I was like book it one hundred and eighty five innings.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I know he was my pick for the cy Young
- 14:30Speaker 3: guess I can cancel that one.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Cancel that.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I'm not going to pitch enough. Yeah, it's tough times
- 14:35Speaker 2: for them.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Who oh No, I just said it's all part just
- 14:41Speaker 3: like Jim and Leland said, it's all part of it. Yeah,
- 14:45Speaker 3: but you can't lose the people they've lost, especially on
- 14:47Speaker 3: the pitching side, and hope to continue. Just no team
- 14:52Speaker 3: other than maybe the Dodgers can lose that many guys
- 14:55Speaker 3: on one side of the ball and survive because the
- 14:58Speaker 3: Dodgers obviously have more depth to anybody. They sign more people,
- 15:01Speaker 3: which is fine, that's what they chose to do, but
- 15:04Speaker 3: it's I mean, it's really hard look at pick a
- 15:06Speaker 3: team and if they lose this many people on one
- 15:08Speaker 3: side of the ball, especially starting pitching, nobody can cover it.
- 15:12Speaker 3: The Braves were wondering about the Braves, but they didn't
- 15:14Speaker 3: cover it last year when they lost everybody. No, you
- 15:18Speaker 3: can in the offense, and then the offense is like,
- 15:21Speaker 3: we got to have ten runs a game and you
- 15:22Speaker 3: can't do that, And then the hitters are like, gosh,
- 15:25Speaker 3: I gotta get a hit, I gotta do this, I
- 15:26Speaker 3: gotta do that. Doesn't work.
- 15:27Speaker 2: So to me, any team that is looked at as
- 15:31Speaker 2: a playoff contender entering the year that doesn't make the
- 15:34Speaker 2: playoffs sneaks in it. Oh we had so many injuries
- 15:38Speaker 2: piled up kind of quote. It's not necessarily from the
- 15:41Speaker 2: players or the coach. It could be the broadcasters whatever.
- 15:43Speaker 2: You always hear that, right like last year the Braves
- 15:48Speaker 2: were hammered with their rotation. To me, the Astros are
- 15:53Speaker 2: getting that right now. Last year, I remember there were
- 15:57Speaker 2: Orioles excuses like, oh, we were hurt. I was like, no,
- 15:59Speaker 2: it just isn't the right roster. You guys didn't have
- 16:01Speaker 2: enough pitching to start. I don't look at that the
- 16:04Speaker 2: same way. That was to me like tier two in
- 16:07Speaker 2: terms of how many injuries you were dealing with. It
- 16:09Speaker 2: was not Tier one. The Astros are in Code red
- 16:12Speaker 2: Tier one.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Love Mark sends the pictures on Dodger Pigeon.
- 16:16Speaker 2: They have the deepest pitching, but they still have Glass.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Snow, they still have Yamamoto, they still have Suzaki, they
- 16:22Speaker 3: still have two hit baseball last night.
- 16:26Speaker 2: He's only missing one of their big boys right now, Snow.
- 16:29Speaker 1: That's it.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean next to a gradol Phillips. I mean,
- 16:33Speaker 3: those guys are all Stone. What's his name, River Stone,
- 16:36Speaker 3: that's a great name by them.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Yeah, No River Ryan, Gavin Stone, River Ryan. Yeah. Yes,
- 16:43Speaker 1: but they started first.
- 16:46Speaker 3: You're counting on him as a Dodger fan. I mean,
- 16:48Speaker 3: come on, he's been hurt for like three years. Those
- 16:51Speaker 3: one inning and he gets hurt. It's like where we
- 16:53Speaker 3: hung up here. I mean, I mean there's a hundred,
- 16:54Speaker 3: but that one inning of one hundred is then he's
- 16:57Speaker 3: done for two weeks. It's crazy.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I actually think the Dodgers are in a pretty
- 17:01Speaker 2: good shape right now from a health components. What Mookie
- 17:06Speaker 2: don't Yeah, they're missing Mookie and Snell will be back.
- 17:09Speaker 3: There's still.
- 17:11Speaker 1: They are. Hey, we just.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Mentioned this last year's Baltimore injuries. What about recent injuries
- 17:17Speaker 2: for a team that's still down guys like Jordan Westberg
- 17:20Speaker 2: and lost sack Eflyn.
- 17:22Speaker 1: That's not I'm not even including them.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Let's just look at their past week and it's the
- 17:27Speaker 2: weirdness gnarly foot infection.
- 17:29Speaker 1: This from Jacob calvin Meyer.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Tyler Neil fains dehydration concussion, Rechmand Sprain's ankle running the bases.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Did you see mount Castle break his foot running the base?
- 17:38Speaker 1: Oh?
- 17:38Speaker 3: You were at that, I was calling the game. Oh yeah,
- 17:40Speaker 3: he just he had a double and then just caught
- 17:43Speaker 3: a sniper and went down.
- 17:44Speaker 1: We broke his foot.
- 17:45Speaker 3: We couldn't, I know, we couldn't figure out what it was.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Right after Reutchman had just hurt his foot too, I
- 17:50Speaker 3: was like, what's wrong with the dirt Albernes last night?
- 17:52Speaker 3: Frigging that just missed?
- 17:53Speaker 1: Dude, you got hit, but it could have been way worse.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it. It clipped him. It was like
- 17:58Speaker 3: a glancer. But that was bad.
- 18:00Speaker 1: That was bad.
- 18:00Speaker 2: And then he showed back up and they got hot.
- 18:02Speaker 3: You know who got him hot?
- 18:05Speaker 2: You're combo with Pete. This guy, Pete's never gonna live
- 18:09Speaker 2: it down. The better he does, the more he's going
- 18:12Speaker 2: to hear it from him.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Are you kidding me? He hit a home run to
- 18:15Speaker 3: the guy wearing the polar Bear head.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Least you can't do it better?
- 18:19Speaker 3: You're welcome Pete. I'm gonna say.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Say it again because he said yesterday, when did you
- 18:23Speaker 2: say to him?
- 18:23Speaker 3: I just went up to him and just said hey.
- 18:26Speaker 3: He was all you know, they had one Saturday, but
- 18:28Speaker 3: he was all down. He's really struggling.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 3: And I actually went in to talk to after the game.
- 18:32Speaker 3: I never usually never go in the clubhouse after a
- 18:34Speaker 3: game because I want to get out of there, but
- 18:36Speaker 3: I went in. It's right on the way out in Baltimore.
- 18:38Speaker 3: So I was like, I'm going to go talk to
- 18:39Speaker 3: bass and Bos and thanks Shane Boss for coming on
- 18:41Speaker 3: the air and talk to Bassett. And so Pete was
- 18:43Speaker 3: sitting there. I didn't see Pete before the game, so
- 18:46Speaker 3: I went over to him. He's just kind of sitting
- 18:48Speaker 3: there and he's just on his phone like this, and
- 18:49Speaker 3: he's looking down and he looks up. He just kind
- 18:52Speaker 3: of gives me the I'm like, just give me a
- 18:55Speaker 3: hug and that's it. And I walked out.
- 18:57Speaker 2: One hug is all it takes. We have a couple
- 19:00Speaker 2: and it's before the TV crowd returns. I think this
- 19:02Speaker 2: is the spot to just hit on the Yankees Angels
- 19:04Speaker 2: game from last night. It was just really cool to
- 19:06Speaker 2: see two m vps going at it, And did you
- 19:09Speaker 2: guys hear how Judge called him the greatest player of
- 19:12Speaker 2: all time postgame? Did you hear that quote? Yeah, you
- 19:14Speaker 2: put it up on.
- 19:15Speaker 3: It was a great game to watch, So there was
- 19:17Speaker 3: a lot of back and forth. Now and no one
- 19:20Speaker 3: ever says it was one on one. It's like basketball
- 19:22Speaker 3: where you take the ball and go down the court.
- 19:23Speaker 3: But it was cool to see Judge omer Trout Homer
- 19:25Speaker 3: Judge Omber Trout, Homer right, it was cool. And then
- 19:28Speaker 3: Trent Grisham upstaged them all.
- 19:30Speaker 2: That's true, a huge Yeah, he's made some hard contact
- 19:35Speaker 2: this year and just wasn't falling for Grisham and oh
- 19:37Speaker 2: wit the right spots for him. Yeah, Judge post game
- 19:40Speaker 2: said Trout's the greatest of all time. He loves Trout. Judge,
- 19:44Speaker 2: we all love.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Trout, but I mean, it's gonna be hard for me
- 19:46Speaker 3: at the end of the day to show he is
- 19:48Speaker 3: the greatest of all time if he keeps doing what
- 19:49Speaker 3: he's doing, both sides of them.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I know, Kratz.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Sorry, I love Trout, I love Judge, I love them both.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and the abs were interesting for Trout. He was
- 19:59Speaker 2: working deep count and then they kept saying on the
- 20:01Speaker 2: Yankees broadcast, they felt like he was sitting on the
- 20:04Speaker 2: right pitch. It looked like he knew whatever the breaker,
- 20:06Speaker 2: hanging breaker was coming on the three to two. And
- 20:08Speaker 2: then for Judge, the second homer, he got brushed a
- 20:11Speaker 2: couple times up and in and he was as pissed
- 20:14Speaker 2: as Judge can be pissed.
- 20:17Speaker 3: The homer got one buzz too, that's right, And he
- 20:19Speaker 3: hit the homer and then did have to Judge and
- 20:20Speaker 3: he hit the homer.
- 20:21Speaker 2: And they were both like they kept showing them after
- 20:23Speaker 2: and they're smiling. They know, yeah, we're good at this.
- 20:27Speaker 3: I mean, the Yankees bullpen has to start making pitches
- 20:29Speaker 3: or this is gonna be a long season for the Yankees. Like,
- 20:32Speaker 3: I get it. He sat on a hanging, breaking ball,
- 20:35Speaker 3: like you can't try to You can't expect to get
- 20:38Speaker 3: trout out with this lineup down in the zone.
- 20:41Speaker 2: We'll read a tweet. This is Sammy Levitt. The Padres
- 20:45Speaker 2: will be dealing with they suddenly hot Mariners team. This week,
- 20:48Speaker 2: Mariners scored sixteen runs and an eight game stretch before
- 20:51Speaker 2: the Astros series, they scored six runs or more in
- 20:54Speaker 2: each game in their four game sweep. Levit's a broadcast
- 20:58Speaker 2: right for the Padres.
- 20:59Speaker 3: I think I don't know, but is that more that's
- 21:01Speaker 3: more of like almost a side shot at the Astros.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I agree the Astros. And also I will say the
- 21:08Speaker 2: Padres are smoking hot. They had a big week and
- 21:11Speaker 2: they've got a nice little chunky winning streak.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I think that's a five ish.
- 21:15Speaker 3: And they played the Rockies.
- 21:17Speaker 2: They found their power from Rockies Rockies.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Five straight, Yes, five straight, they beat the Rockies. I
- 21:25Speaker 3: don't care about playing the Rocky. The Blue Jays got
- 21:28Speaker 3: swept by the Rockies, so you gotta beat the team
- 21:31Speaker 3: you're playing. I don't care who's on the roster, not
- 21:35Speaker 3: on the roster, where they're at in the division, how
- 21:37Speaker 3: they've played. They beat the Rockies, So don't tell Scott that.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Don't tell Scott's just gonna say, schedule matters as the schedule.
- 21:47Speaker 1: All day long.
- 21:48Speaker 2: By the way, Sammy Levit's a radio broadcaster host for
- 21:52Speaker 2: the Padres, but just pointing out the upcoming series between
- 21:55Speaker 2: those two teams. Yes, you need to pound the teams
- 21:59Speaker 2: you're supposed to pound. The Blue Jays were not able
- 22:01Speaker 2: to do that. The Padres definitely were able to do that.
- 22:05Speaker 2: I mean, they really found their power stroke quickly. And
- 22:08Speaker 2: I don't know if we'll have another chance to throw
- 22:10Speaker 2: this out there, so I want to make sure that
- 22:11Speaker 2: we continue to give love to Mason Miller. It's becoming
- 22:14Speaker 2: a conversation, including on Fair Territory yesterday. Is he a
- 22:18Speaker 2: cy young candidate? Twenty four k's nineteen batters faced there's
- 22:21Speaker 2: a chance that if he keeps.
- 22:22Speaker 1: This up, he gets close to two hundred strikeouts.
- 22:25Speaker 3: If he gets two hundred strikeouts and he's definitely so young.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Yeah, even if he gets one seventy. I mean this
- 22:32Speaker 2: is how much he used number.
- 22:34Speaker 3: I mean, he's done crazy numbers. He's he's pretty good.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I don't want to face him. What opened that. WBC
- 22:40Speaker 3: jinks he's doing just fine.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Yeah, WBC's okay, it works, Ken said.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Ken said on the show that he doesn't think a
- 22:47Speaker 3: reliever will ever be able to win that award again
- 22:51Speaker 3: when you start talking about one hundred and seventy two
- 22:53Speaker 3: hundred punchies from a reliever. Look, he has to keep
- 22:57Speaker 3: up an incredible pace like this is like a redict
- 23:00Speaker 3: this like high school pace. Twenty four batters, he's struck
- 23:03Speaker 3: nineteen of them. Out or twenty six batters. He's struck
- 23:05Speaker 3: nineteen out twenty four.
- 23:07Speaker 2: He's struck nineteen out, which I said two minutes ago.
- 23:12Speaker 3: I wasn't listening.
- 23:13Speaker 2: I know you're worried. I often don't listen to you
- 23:15Speaker 2: guys too. But yes, his numbers are insane right now.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And I know that they have a separate reliever award.
- 23:20Speaker 2: But I still think he could win SI Young because
- 23:22Speaker 2: it's not like he's disqualified from winning SI Young.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Guys, you ever get it from your children all the time, Dad,

- 24:27Speaker 2: box by May thirty first, twenty twenty six. Okay, let's
- 24:40Speaker 2: get back to this better than box scores. We're talking
- 24:41Speaker 2: about the Mets and the Dodgers. The Mets were shut
- 24:44Speaker 2: out for the second straight game. They've lost each of
- 24:46Speaker 2: their last six. In those six they've scored a combined
- 24:50Speaker 2: nine runs. I think one of those games was six runs,
- 24:52Speaker 2: So they're barely scoring right now. The Twins in the
- 24:54Speaker 2: same stretch of scored forty three runs. We're gonna talk
- 24:58Speaker 2: Twins in the next segment. Yeah, they trolled the Mets
- 25:01Speaker 2: before the game with Dave robertson. There's a reason Edwin
- 25:05Speaker 2: Diaz wanted to come here. He's chasing a ring that
- 25:07Speaker 2: was in the video that they were playing on the
- 25:10Speaker 2: big board, and then they completely shut down the Mets
- 25:15Speaker 2: with Justin Robleski putting together the performance of his life,
- 25:20Speaker 2: probably the best performance he's ever had eight innings.
- 25:22Speaker 3: That's by far performance, Yes, by far.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Absolutely shocked. So do you want to start with the
- 25:29Speaker 2: bad for the Mets? You're like, what's going on here?
- 25:33Speaker 2: How much of a hole can you dig?
- 25:35Speaker 1: Early on?
- 25:36Speaker 3: How much one's running away with it right now?
- 25:38Speaker 1: No? Well, that's part of it. I mean.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Plus, they're getting the Dodgers out of the way already
- 25:42Speaker 3: for at least three games.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be nice for them if they win
- 25:46Speaker 2: one of those games.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Not good, Let's you can't ask for everything in life, Scott,
- 25:49Speaker 3: can't have everything in life.
- 25:50Speaker 1: So you're gonna get the Dodgers out of the way,
- 25:51Speaker 1: but they might sweep.
- 25:52Speaker 3: You can't ask for everything. Not everyone can have everything
- 25:55Speaker 3: in their life, Skot. You got to you gotta take
- 25:57Speaker 3: baby steps for the positives.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Can I bring up a player that that I want to?
- 26:03Speaker 1: I don't think you know?
- 26:03Speaker 3: Is kind of the Mets traded away? Remember how we
- 26:06Speaker 3: were talking about their offense. They got rid of a
- 26:07Speaker 3: lot of their offensive guys, and a lot of those
- 26:09Speaker 3: guys are doing pretty well.
- 26:11Speaker 2: My mind, Neil, let's let's get okay, not in New
- 26:14Speaker 2: York anymore correct, Let's get ready for the semion sound.
- 26:16Speaker 1: But before we do, I want to actually talk about him.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Marcus semeon for Brandon Neimo, it's been a couple of weeks.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I get it.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Tommy fam gets called out right.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Run prevention, run prevention.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Marcus sime In the second base is hitting one with
- 26:34Speaker 2: a five thirty two oh ps, it is early. I
- 26:38Speaker 2: know that's not good. Brandon Nemo is hitting the snot
- 26:41Speaker 2: out of the ball right now.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Okay, what's lindor what's the ship Polanco? One guy, I
- 26:54Speaker 3: think to Alvarez, I think is the only guy in
- 26:57Speaker 3: the metsage that's hitting Louise and Luis Luis Robertsry. Yeah,
- 27:01Speaker 3: two guys. There's two guys. Sorry, Because he's got a
- 27:03Speaker 3: crowd he can play in front him. Yes, especially when
- 27:06Speaker 3: he goes to La there's a big crowd.
- 27:07Speaker 1: He's never gonna live No.
- 27:08Speaker 3: He shouldn't, nor should he ever live that down because
- 27:10Speaker 3: it's one of the dumbest quotes I've ever heard. So tired.
- 27:13Speaker 2: But anyways, anyway, but my thing is mcmill's look at McNeil.
- 27:18Speaker 3: He's doing good too.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Yes, some guys are going to find it. I'm worried.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Marcus Simeon is thirty five years old. Didn't look great
- 27:27Speaker 2: at the plate last year, not great the year before either,
- 27:30Speaker 2: not the guy that we once knew. Right, the weighted
- 27:34Speaker 2: stats were close to league average, close a little under
- 27:38Speaker 2: last year. That looks like a tough trade to me
- 27:43Speaker 2: before we see the results this year. When we talked
- 27:45Speaker 2: about it in the offseason, I'm like, damn Nimmo.
- 27:47Speaker 3: For Simeon, there was a reason. We don't know what
- 27:51Speaker 3: the reason was why they made that move, but.
- 27:53Speaker 1: They wanted to switch it up.
- 27:54Speaker 2: They wanted to not get caught in the opus too.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Hasn't he since he's been called out.
- 28:00Speaker 2: He's been he's been better defensively than he used to be,
- 28:04Speaker 2: and he's been Okay.
- 28:06Speaker 3: They need they need Soto back, and they need Lindor
- 28:08Speaker 3: to do something. Yeah, that'd be a start.
- 28:11Speaker 1: For them, that would.
- 28:12Speaker 2: But yeah, you're not going to run into like those
- 28:14Speaker 2: you know, Pete Alonso homer two games, because this is
- 28:17Speaker 2: a different team.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You have a different tell the Orioles.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Remember I got him hot.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I very much.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Remember. I've been getting reminded frequently right now.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, he hit a pole. He hit a
- 28:27Speaker 3: home run to the guy we're in the polar bear head. Well,
- 28:30Speaker 3: that doesn't say you're hot nothing, does.
- 28:32Speaker 1: You know.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Simion's a pretty quiet guy, but we did speak after
- 28:35Speaker 2: the game, so let's get his sound.
- 28:38Speaker 5: These types of stretches are going to happen. You know,
- 28:42Speaker 5: it's tough when it happens early in the season. It's
- 28:44Speaker 5: tough when it's happened, and when we're you know, we're
- 28:46Speaker 5: just not winning ball games, and it's you know, the
- 28:49Speaker 5: microscope is going to be right there on our offense.
- 28:52Speaker 5: But you know, we have another game tomorrow against one
- 28:54Speaker 5: of the best in the league, so we have no
- 28:56Speaker 5: time to dwell on it. We just get some rest
- 29:00Speaker 5: and I can come back with the good attitude and
- 29:02Speaker 5: see what we can do.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, he's right. Something you can do about it.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Can't cry about it, can't dwell on it because he
- 29:15Speaker 3: got another game tomorrow and it's early so.
- 29:22Speaker 2: And the next matchups Yamamoto against Nolan MacLean, which is
- 29:25Speaker 2: just gonna be awesome. I just wanted to throw that
- 29:27Speaker 2: out there.
- 29:29Speaker 3: People get mad when players make these types of comments, like, oh,
- 29:33Speaker 3: you just got to go home and all that stuff.
- 29:36Speaker 3: It is one hundred percent the truth. It is one
- 29:40Speaker 3: hundred percent. How you one have to deal with one
- 29:43Speaker 3: hundred and sixty two game season two have to deal
- 29:46Speaker 3: with struggles because if you if you allow yourself to say, Okay,
- 29:52Speaker 3: I'm Francisco Indoor. I've scored ten runs this year, but
- 29:56Speaker 3: I haven't driven a single run in yet, I might
- 30:00Speaker 3: have lost it. If you sit there and go and
- 30:02Speaker 3: start saying the things that fans are saying about you,
- 30:06Speaker 3: you're cooked because the next day you're going to play
- 30:08Speaker 3: another game. And the beauty of Marcus Simeon, well, I'm
- 30:12Speaker 3: not sure he's gonna have over an eight hundred ops.
- 30:15Speaker 3: I would say under for this season is his value
- 30:19Speaker 3: is the fact that he shows up every single day.
- 30:21Speaker 3: His value is he's the same guy every single day.
- 30:24Speaker 3: He's going to play, supposed to play gold glove defense
- 30:27Speaker 3: at second base, and that's where his value is. So
- 30:31Speaker 3: if he sits there and goes, man, I gotta really
- 30:34Speaker 3: start I gotta start stressing about Maya bats. No, he
- 30:38Speaker 3: literally has to live on what he just said. His
- 30:43Speaker 3: postgame interview might be a boring cliche postgame interview, but
- 30:48Speaker 3: he actually was being honest into how they have to
- 30:51Speaker 3: play because Francisco Indoor is going to get his numbers.
- 30:55Speaker 3: I should have looked it up exactly what Francisco Indoor's
- 30:58Speaker 3: numbers are. He's going to do that. He's going to
- 31:01Speaker 3: be that guy his entire career. He's an OPS plus
- 31:05Speaker 3: of one to twenty. So if you think Francisco Lindor
- 31:09Speaker 3: all of a sudden, like contracted some kind of virus
- 31:13Speaker 3: in his bat, he's gonna have an OPS of one
- 31:16Speaker 3: to twenty. It's just I mean OPS plus of one twenty.
- 31:20Speaker 3: So he's going to be there. His OPS will be
- 31:23Speaker 3: around right around eight hundred. He's going to do that.
- 31:27Speaker 3: So to me, this is when you buy low on
- 31:30Speaker 3: a Lindor type of player, to say, Okay, I have
- 31:34Speaker 3: to turn it around. I haven't been connected the first
- 31:37Speaker 3: I've had some mental gas in these games. And so
- 31:41Speaker 3: this team will turn it around. I said yesterday or
- 31:44Speaker 3: the day before or last week. Luis Robert is doing well,
- 31:48Speaker 3: so that's a bonus. Louise Robert's healthy double bonus. Francisco
- 31:52Speaker 3: Alvarez is hitting over three hundred, that's a bonus. Those
- 31:55Speaker 3: guys are not going to hit over three hundred for
- 31:58Speaker 3: the season. So when your good players come back and
- 32:00Speaker 3: they're playing well, your offense is going to do fine.
- 32:05Speaker 3: You just can't completely collapse at the beginning of the
- 32:09Speaker 3: season and let the let the rest of the division
- 32:12Speaker 3: somebody run away with it. But nobody has so they're
- 32:15Speaker 3: not in as bad of a shape as you think
- 32:17Speaker 3: they are.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Right, it just feels like the sky is falling, But
- 32:23Speaker 2: the division is pretty solid in my mind.
- 32:25Speaker 1: I think you're gonna have well.
- 32:27Speaker 3: The Phillies, the Braves, the Phillis Nationals have been better. Yeah,
- 32:31Speaker 3: I mean totally, but but the Phillies met some Braves
- 32:37Speaker 3: are supposed to be the pride to the top of
- 32:39Speaker 3: this division. With the Marlins trying to lurk around the edges, right,
- 32:43Speaker 3: the Mets don't hit, and we already questioned their pitching.
- 32:45Speaker 3: It's it could be if it gets to be a
- 32:47Speaker 3: long year, and ref asked the question, is Mendoza possibly
- 32:50Speaker 3: on the hot seat? I mean he could be. I
- 32:51Speaker 3: don't want it because I love Carlos Mendoz.
- 32:53Speaker 2: He's awesome, but also they just rebuilt the roster and.
- 32:57Speaker 3: But what did they make him do this offseason? What
- 32:59Speaker 3: do they make men? You dot that's usually means, how's
- 33:06Speaker 3: that working out for you? How's that working out for you?
- 33:10Speaker 3: That usually doesn't work. I've never seen it. He usually
- 33:14Speaker 3: doesn't work. And and and I don't understand like it
- 33:17Speaker 3: was it. Okay, I'm gonna go full Davy Martinez here
- 33:20Speaker 3: after yesterday where he's where they or Kevin Franzer goes.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Maybe it's not the players, Okay, it's usually not the coaches.
- 33:28Speaker 3: The coaches are working hard. Okay, it's usually the players
- 33:30Speaker 3: aren't playing very well. I'm sorry. I was a player.
- 33:33Speaker 3: I got a manager fired. It was my fault. I
- 33:35Speaker 3: played like crap.
- 33:37Speaker 2: You think you individual, you know, but I mean we
- 33:39Speaker 2: as a collective unit.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Sure got a manager fired.
- 33:43Speaker 2: That was it.
- 33:44Speaker 3: We started out owing nine with the Braves. Freddy Gonzalez.
- 33:46Speaker 3: He got fired in early May because we suck.
- 33:48Speaker 1: That team wasn't good.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Our team wasn't good. Right, Listen, the Mets are supposed
- 33:53Speaker 3: to be good, but they also change over the whole roster.
- 33:56Speaker 3: It takes guys some time, Boba shitt first time switching
- 33:58Speaker 3: the team, right, that there's one, right, So it takes
- 34:01Speaker 3: guys some time.
- 34:02Speaker 2: A little bit team is with a new team.
- 34:04Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying, so it takes guy some time.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Sometimes you have rookie benj you have Luis Robert joining
- 34:10Speaker 2: the party, you have Boba Chet joining the party, Planko
- 34:12Speaker 2: joining the party in a new position.
- 34:14Speaker 1: In a new position. By the way, Devin.
- 34:15Speaker 2: William Luke, I mean the list goes on tap, the
- 34:17Speaker 2: roster turned.
- 34:18Speaker 3: Over and guys playing new positions.
- 34:21Speaker 1: That combo is that's a lot.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so we'll see, but I hopeful, hope not because
- 34:26Speaker 3: we love Mendy. So what so what if they started
- 34:29Speaker 3: out just in fuego, would we have just automatically bought
- 34:33Speaker 3: into what the Mets were doing? Think about not if
- 34:37Speaker 3: you're legitimate.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Like the general public does, living guy with your team.
- 34:42Speaker 2: That's how baseball works. You hate your team and then
- 34:44Speaker 2: they win five in a row.
- 34:45Speaker 3: And you love your team. It's just the way.
- 34:47Speaker 1: It's an emotional rollercoaster for half the year.
- 34:51Speaker 3: How much how much flak did we get for saying
- 34:54Speaker 3: let's pump the brakes on the Mets rotation last year
- 34:57Speaker 3: in May?
- 34:58Speaker 1: I got hammered.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Hey, but to me, this is different with their with
- 35:04Speaker 3: their lineup, they have good hitters. Are they all going
- 35:08Speaker 3: to struggle? Absolutely not? Are they all gonna land on
- 35:11Speaker 3: their feet at new positions. No, absolutely not. They're going
- 35:17Speaker 3: to have so there's gonna be things that they have
- 35:19Speaker 3: to mix and match. Like I've been on teams where
- 35:22Speaker 3: they fired the manager part way through the year, bang
- 35:25Speaker 3: pushed all the way through the playoffs. I've been on
- 35:28Speaker 3: teams where they fired almost every one of the coaches
- 35:32Speaker 3: after we lost in the American League Championship series, and
- 35:35Speaker 3: the next year that same team, while I wasn't on
- 35:38Speaker 3: that team in the big leagues, made it to the
- 35:42Speaker 3: playoffs again and lost in the in the division series.
- 35:45Speaker 3: So it's possible. The reality is what AJ said, the
- 35:50Speaker 3: players have to do well. If the players suck, it
- 35:53Speaker 3: doesn't matter how much the coaches grind, it doesn't matter
- 35:56Speaker 3: how much. Very rarely have I seen coaches like totally
- 36:00Speaker 3: get in the way. I heard in Milwaukee they fired
- 36:03Speaker 3: when they fired Ned Yost in eight like the players
- 36:06Speaker 3: were like, dude, this guy's like getting in our way.
- 36:08Speaker 3: So they fired him in September when they were in
- 36:10Speaker 3: a playoff chase, Like we've never seen that before and
- 36:13Speaker 3: I don't think we'll ever see it again. But they
- 36:16Speaker 3: ended up making it to the playoffs, Like so very
- 36:19Speaker 3: rarely does an actual like coach or manager get in
- 36:23Speaker 3: the way like players just had to go out and play.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Especially nowadays, the manager has changed the position and the
- 36:29Speaker 2: personality has changed. You're just not going to see someone
- 36:34Speaker 2: run in as a dictator. And I'm not saying that
- 36:36Speaker 2: was Ned. I honestly don't remember that situation. I remember
- 36:39Speaker 2: when he was replaced by Dale Swam, but I'm saying
- 36:41Speaker 2: I don't remember what the issues were. But it's different.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Managers know their role. They're more psychologist versus king. Jackson
- 36:48Speaker 2: Holliday is going to sit for a few days as
- 36:50Speaker 2: he's trying to work his way back to the bakes
- 36:53Speaker 2: some risk soreness for him. He's trying to recover from
- 36:56Speaker 2: the hamlet surgery that he had. He has not returned yet.
- 37:00Speaker 2: They all happened at almost the same time, Holiday Corbyn,
- 37:04Speaker 2: Carol Francisco Lindor during a spring training where I'll continue
- 37:07Speaker 2: to say had less injuries than I remember in a
- 37:10Speaker 2: long time. And also those three surgeries popped up at
- 37:14Speaker 2: the same time, over like a twenty four to forty
- 37:15Speaker 2: eight hour stretch, and everyone's.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Like, oh no, this is gonna be the new injury
- 37:19Speaker 1: in baseball. I don't think there's been one since.
- 37:24Speaker 3: It's just a flute thing. I mean, it just it's
- 37:26Speaker 3: because you know, a lot of people have never heard
- 37:27Speaker 3: of it. Now they're like, oh, look at these three
- 37:29Speaker 3: in a row, but it happens all the time. I
- 37:33Speaker 3: don't know. The holiday one is weird because he wasn't
- 37:35Speaker 3: even on the raidar the Dina was in Baltimore. They
- 37:38Speaker 3: had a Jackson Holiday dog ball ahead and his wife
- 37:40Speaker 3: throughout the first pitch, not him.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Well, he's rehabbing, you know, playing minor league games, is
- 37:45Speaker 2: not hitting shore.
- 37:46Speaker 3: In the wrist. It's just weird that he didn't come back.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Carroll's back, Lindora's back, and he's not back yet. He's
- 37:52Speaker 3: still weeks away. Now, That's what i mean. Everyone heals differently,
- 37:54Speaker 3: so I'm not questioning that. It's just it's just weird
- 37:56Speaker 3: that two of them are back when.
- 37:57Speaker 2: I'm I'm guessing severity of injury could be different.
- 38:00Speaker 3: No, there's no, it's the same, the same thing. I
- 38:04Speaker 3: don't severity of anything.
- 38:05Speaker 2: I mean, I'm no doctor, and clearly I mean neither
- 38:08Speaker 2: is Crats Krats. One fan called you out on our
- 38:11Speaker 2: show yesterday, saying the PCL is actually very important and
- 38:16Speaker 2: wrote to us about that, I don't know, I might
- 38:19Speaker 2: have time to find it if you want.
- 38:20Speaker 3: I didn't. Yeah, I didn't have that injury. But that's
- 38:22Speaker 3: totally fun. Don't worry about do you.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Want me to find it or you don't care?
- 38:26Speaker 3: Yeah? No, no, I definitely want to want you to
- 38:29Speaker 3: find it. But Jackson Holliday's been playing. He's got forty
- 38:31Speaker 3: six plate appearances in the bushes, so he's been playing.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Not everybody comes back at the same He's what is
- 38:38Speaker 3: he twenty two years old? Still like the other two
- 38:42Speaker 3: guys are a little bit more established in the big league.
- 38:45Speaker 3: So you know, he's been playing, and you know it
- 38:49Speaker 3: just hasn't been going. If your risk is sore, you
- 38:53Speaker 3: gotta If you're risk is sore and you're not getting
- 38:55Speaker 3: the results, you're like, okay, we got to make sure
- 38:58Speaker 3: we're one hundred percent healthy before we make it back.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Richie commented on yesterday show and he loves the show.
- 39:07Speaker 2: He said, I love you Krats, but your PCL is
- 39:10Speaker 2: very important. As someone who's done jiu jitsu for almost
- 39:12Speaker 2: twenty years, I can tell you the PCL is one
- 39:14Speaker 2: of the ligaments in your knee.
- 39:15Speaker 1: That helps to stabilize it.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Thanks doctor Rich. But by the way, does your PCL.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Does your PCL in jiu jitsu and baseball is at
- 39:25Speaker 3: the same you movement? I don't know. I don't know.
- 39:27Speaker 3: All I know is I sat out for I don't
- 39:31Speaker 3: know how many weeks it was in the off season,
- 39:33Speaker 3: and came back and I caught right away, and I
- 39:36Speaker 3: caught the entire season. So I'm just saying, like I
- 39:40Speaker 3: never got it fixed. They said, you don't need to
- 39:42Speaker 3: get it fixed as long as you have stability in it.
- 39:44Speaker 3: I get it. It's one of the three ligaments in
- 39:46Speaker 3: your knee. I'm just Rich. Appreciate you being a big fan,
- 39:50Speaker 3: but I'm just telling you what the doctor told me.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Clearly, not all pcls are utilized the same. I was
- 39:57Speaker 2: trying to remember because I replied to him. Then he
- 39:59Speaker 2: sent another night snow back. So we love you Rich.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Anything said before, butt Cratch doesn't matter, just Sam, everything
- 40:06Speaker 3: said what before but doesn't caesn't count. So you said
- 40:11Speaker 3: you said I love you Rich, but so that doesn't count.
- 40:13Speaker 3: I love you South the window. Okay, my kids tell
- 40:18Speaker 3: me that all the time. True.
- 40:20Speaker 1: One more.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Sorry when they're smiling, doesn't count. Yeah, sorry, not sorry.
- 40:30Speaker 1: You know who looks really good at the plate?
- 40:32Speaker 2: I don't O'Neil Cruz, especially against left handed pitching. The
- 40:37Speaker 2: whole story with him and Jim Boden talked about this
- 40:39Speaker 2: on GM Territory the other day.
- 40:41Speaker 1: He hired a.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Essentially a full time left handed BP thrower in the
- 40:46Speaker 2: off season, and just give me the left handed pitching
- 40:49Speaker 2: all winter long.
- 40:50Speaker 3: Imagine that we used to have every there was teams
- 40:52Speaker 3: I had that was on that just had left used
- 40:54Speaker 3: to throw BP. Yeah, may I had a great year
- 40:56Speaker 3: one year and Kevin Hickey r P Kevin love you.
- 41:01Speaker 3: He threw BP to me every day. He was left handed,
- 41:03Speaker 3: and I was like all for it. And actually, as
- 41:06Speaker 3: a lefty, I can there were days where I actually
- 41:08Speaker 3: wanted to face a lefty because it actually changed a
- 41:11Speaker 3: lot of stuff in your brain. I say, you run
- 41:13Speaker 3: a run of righty, righty, right right, and you're like, man,
- 41:15Speaker 3: I really like to face a lefty because it makes
- 41:17Speaker 3: you focus on different stuff. What about it?
- 41:19Speaker 1: Focus like on your angles.
- 41:21Speaker 3: It was all about it. I got to keep my
- 41:22Speaker 3: angles and I got to stay there. Whereas if they're writer,
- 41:25Speaker 3: you're like I can get a little loose with some stuff,
- 41:27Speaker 3: but if a lefty, I got to really stay like
- 41:29Speaker 3: tight and keep everything lined up.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Hey, online crowd were staying on for a few minutes
- 41:45Speaker 2: and then taking you live to Hot Sheet. They'll talk
- 41:47Speaker 2: about Noah Schultz making his debut to night for the
- 41:49Speaker 2: White Sox. This is the ft shop foul territory shop
- 41:53Speaker 2: dot com.
- 41:54Speaker 1: There it is. There's a little baby model. Buy me
- 41:58Speaker 1: a shirt, Buy me a one.
- 42:01Speaker 3: And that's pretty much what you wear every day, so
- 42:03Speaker 3: you shouldn't have to want to buy you a different one.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I jumped him, though.
- 42:08Speaker 2: I threw that joke out last week when you weren't on,
- 42:11Speaker 2: just so that I could put it out in the
- 42:13Speaker 2: interweb so that it couldn't be thrown back at me.
- 42:16Speaker 1: It still was thrown.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Back at I mean, did you think it wasn't gonna
- 42:19Speaker 3: get brought up if you if you say.
- 42:20Speaker 2: That, I forgot that you weren't on last week at
- 42:23Speaker 2: the end of last week when we made this announcement.
- 42:25Speaker 2: But yes, uh, the onesies do not fit me, but
- 42:29Speaker 2: they might.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Fit your sure doesn't fit you either, but you still
- 42:31Speaker 3: wear it. This one, this one that's actually the one
- 42:34Speaker 3: that you have paying more.
