- 2:54Sunny mornings send you. In local news, the city
- 3:00of Quincy has confirmed that a new Trader Joe's
- 3:03location is coming to the South Shore in 2027.
- 3:07Mark Carey, media director for Mayor Tom Koch,
- 3:11humorously referred to the announcement as the
- 3:14worst kept secret. The store will be a key part
- 3:18of a development project on McConville Way. which
- 3:21will also feature 300 housing units and a parking
- 3:24garage. Currently, the South Shore has two Trader
- 3:28Joe's locations, one in Hingham and another in
- 3:31Hanover. This will be the first time Trader Joe's
- 3:34has appeared on any official documents related
- 3:37to the development. Now on to sports. On Tuesday,
- 3:47rumors began to swirl that the end was nigh for
- 3:50Liv Golf. Sources from across golf sent up the
- 3:54same smoke signal. Liv Golf, as suddenly as it
- 3:58was born, was seemingly dead. If Liv does go
- 4:02the way of the dodo bird, it is hard not to view
- 4:05the 2026 Masters as the final nail in the Disruptor
- 4:08League's coffin. Apart from a great T3 performance
- 4:12by Tyrell Hatton, It was a disastrous showing
- 4:15in Augusta by Liv's biggest stars. Bryson DeChambeau,
- 4:20the league's biggest asset and one of the tournament
- 4:22favorites, looked completely lost. In local sports,
- 4:27the Red Sox are back at Fenway tomorrow night
- 4:30to take on Detroit, looking to build on yesterday's
- 4:339 -5 win over Minnesota. Trevor Story was the
- 4:38star in that comeback, going 2 -4 with a homer
- 4:41and 5 RBI. Connolly Early was brilliant on the
- 4:46mound, allowing just two hits over six innings
- 4:49with five strikeouts. Ranger Suarez takes the
- 4:54ball against Casey Mize tomorrow at 7 -15. Boston
- 4:59sits at 7 -11, still last in the AL East, but
- 5:04the offense showed life yesterday after that
- 5:06rough Minnesota stretch. Over on the ice, the
- 5:10Bruins just wrapped their regular season and
- 5:13they're heading into the playoffs hungry. David
- 5:16Pasternak made history in that finale, posting
- 5:19his fourth 100 -point season, joining only Bobby
- 5:23Orr and Phil Esposito in black and gold history.
- 5:27Even wilder, it's his fourth straight century
- 5:30season. Boston clinched the wild card and will
- 5:35face Buffalo in the first round. They last met
- 5:39the Sabres in the playoffs back in 2010, taking
- 5:42that series in six. Game one is set for April
- 5:4618th, or April 19th up in Buffalo. In top news,
- 5:53Live Nation has lost a jury trial in a significant
- 5:57monopoly case against multiple states. The ruling
- 6:01has major implications across the live music
- 6:03business, as a judge will now decide on remedies.
- 6:07which could include a breakup of Live Nation
- 6:09and Ticketmaster. Live Nation Entertainment has
- 6:13been found liable in a bombshell lawsuit that
- 6:15could drastically shake up the live music landscape.
- 6:19Jurors determined that Live Nation operates as
- 6:22a monopoly, suppressing competitors and increasing
- 6:25ticket costs for fans. This verdict follows a
- 6:29lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice and
- 6:32nearly 40 plaintiff states in May of 2024. In
- 6:37business news, this tax season's big winners
- 6:41received over $32 billion back from new tax cuts.
- 6:46Many homeowners in Democratic -leaning states
- 6:48received hefty tax refunds. For taxpayers this
- 6:52year, the state and local tax deduction has been
- 6:55sweet. Individuals who utilized a much higher
- 6:59federal deduction for state and local taxes paid
- 7:03have benefited significantly under the Republican
- 7:05Party's One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Internal
- 7:10Revenue Service statistics indicate that income
- 7:12tax refunds are 11 % larger than last year due
- 7:17to new tax breaks. More than 53 million taxpayers
- 7:21claimed at least one of these new deductions,
- 7:24including more than 25 million households who
- 7:27deducted an average of $3 ,100 for overtime pay.
- 7:32The Internal Revenue Service has received almost
- 7:35100 million returns so far. In crypto movement,
- 7:40Bitcoin is unchanged at $75 ,000. Ethereum is
- 7:46up 1 % to about $2 ,000. And XRP is up 3 .5 %
- 7:52to $1 .41. Moving on to a more local vibe. and
- 8:00our community spotlight on health and wellness.

- 8:34and Framingham, just be sure to tell them, sunny
- 8:38morning sent you by. And now, back to the show.
- 8:44Let's talk tech. Costco has rolled out a new
- 8:48checkout system that promises to cut transaction
- 8:51times to just seconds. However, early reactions
- 8:55indicate one significant problem. Employees report
- 8:59that the new pre -scan system is causing mistakes
- 9:02and frustration, despite claims from the company
- 9:05that it speeds up lines. According to Chief Financial
- 9:08Officer Gary Millerchip, this process allows
- 9:11for an average transaction time of around eight
- 9:14seconds. While early results suggest improved
- 9:17traffic flow, there are concerns about its effectiveness
- 9:21in practice. This shift reflects a broader trend
- 9:24in retail to streamline the checkout experience.
- 9:30And in entertainment news, Dan Levy wanted to
- 9:34explore family trauma and dysfunction. So he
- 9:38made big mistakes. You might wonder what Dan
- 9:41Levy has been up to in the six years since bidding
- 9:44farewell to Schitt's Creek. the beloved acerbic
- 9:47comedy series he co -created and co -starred
- 9:50in with his father, Eugene Levy. The answer is
- 9:54he has turned to a life of crime. His new series
- 9:57for Netflix, Big Mistakes, was released on April
- 10:019th and is once again centered on a dysfunctional
- 10:04family. The family includes hapless siblings
- 10:07Nikki and Morgan, their seemingly perfect sister
- 10:10Natalie, and their domineering mother Linda.
- 10:14Well, alrighty folks, it's time for the quote
- 10:18of the day. And today, our quote comes from the
- 10:22American author and humorist, James Thurber.
- 10:25And he said, Humor is emotional chaos remembered
- 10:29in tranquility. And that's a wrap for this morning.
