Transcript
- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another tiny Dutch lesson? Luna: Yeah! And not a new topic, right? We're reviewing something? Lucas: Exactly. Last episode we learned neus, mond, oor. Let's lock those in. Luna: Okay, de neus is nose, de mond is mouth, and het oor is ear. Right? Lucas: Perfect. Let's say them together slowly: de neus. Luna: De neus. Lucas: De mond. Luna: De mond. Lucas: Het oor. Luna: Het oor. That last one always trips me up — het. Lucas: Het is neuter. But remember, it's het oor. Let's do a quick drill: I say a body part in English, you say it in Dutch. Luna: Okay. Lucas: Nose. Luna: De neus. Lucas: Mouth. Luna: De mond. Lucas: Ear. Luna: Het oor. Lucas: Awesome. Luna: I'm getting it. But can we use them in a sentence? Lucas: Of course. For example: Ik heb een grote neus. I have a big nose. Luna: Ik heb een grote neus. That's funny. I can say: Ik heb een kleine mond. Lucas: Nice. Small mouth. And what about ear? Luna: Ik heb een groot oor. Wait, is that right? Lucas: Close. Actually it's Ik heb een groot oor. But careful — oor is het-woord, so the adjective gets een groot oor. You said it right. Luna: Ohh, so it's een groot oor, not een grote oor. Got it. Lucas: Yeah. Let's practice that phrase: Ik heb een groot oor. Luna: Ik heb een groot oor. Lucas: Now let's do a tiny scenario. Imagine you're at the doctor and you point to your nose. Luna: Oké, ik wijs naar mijn neus. Mijn neus doet pijn. Lucas: Good use of mijn. And if your mouth hurts? Luna: Mijn mond doet pijn. Lucas: And your ear? Luna: Mijn oor doet pijn. Lucas: Yes! So neus, mond, oor. Let's run through them one more time. Luna: De neus, de mond, het oor. Lucas: Perfect. Now, you know what? These three words are so useful. And I think if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with Dutch, this is a good moment to mention something. Luna: Oh yeah? Lucas: This show is ad-free, and we want to keep it that way. If you'd like to support that, you can at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Yeah, it's a small way to help us keep making these episodes. Totally optional. Lucas: Alright, back to practice. Let's do a quick test: I'll point to a body part, you say the Dutch word. Luna: Okay! Lucas: Points to nose. Luna: De neus. Lucas: Points to mouth. Luna: De mond. Lucas: Points to ear. Luna: Het oor. Lucas: You're ready. Practice these until we meet again. Tot ziens! Luna: Tot ziens! En oefen je neus, mond en oor.
