We don't have like a specific thing. We needed a a little yap session. Danielle: Yeah, I feel like the back to school thing is settled down for me, but we're already within one week of being back to school sick in our household. So I don't know if you saw our reel yesterday or today. Katie Catie: This morning. Danielle: did a reel of what you actually need for back to school. And I can attest that within the first week of school I had I got struck throat. Catie: We were joking because we did go yesterday when Ryan got home. We went to Target and we're like, let's look at the school supply list and get it. Cause you know, for us, I still have three weeks or four Danielle: Yeah. Catie: list almost no three weeks. And so we're like, Let's get stuff before it gets sold out. We're in there grabbing the couple things and then we go over to the band aids because if you also saw my rant about band-aids, it's been a huge freaking issue in our house. Like Everyone I don't understand why we have so like there's a cut on every human every day. Like I don't Danielle: There's a difference in your house versus mine because we go through just as many band-aids as you know. I order them in bulk off Amazon because Daisy thinks she's a doctor and we put them on fake wounds, but you're actually putting them on a real wound. Yeah. Catie: So like these aren't even fake. Like they're just like they've got like I'm like, how are you getting a paper cut? We don't touch paper. Like, where is it from? And then there and then like Jack bites his nails, of course, because he's my child. And he's biting Danielle: Weird. Wonder where we got that from. Catie: them so bad that they bleed. And then he wants band-aids on them. And Danielle: So every finger's gonna look like a band-aid finger. Catie: but anyway, we were in the band-aid aisle because we needed to stock up, which thank you to Danielle: That's why you go through the Belgians. Catie: thank you to the moms that were like, Katie, start going to the Dollar Tree, like stop buying them at Target. we were in that section and me and Ryan made the joke like, should we just stock up on the medicine stuff too? Cause we're gonna be sick in another few weeks. but it's true. Like it's like you go I've seen so many people talking about how they're sick already. And you had strep this week. Danielle: Yeah, so I was definitely not feeling great, but kind of just have to muscle through it because Daisy started this week and as you know, like a lot's going on at work and all sorts of stuff. I just feel like that's what kind of why we're giving you an episode a day late too. Like just it's been really Catie: It just Danielle: chaotic. Catie: well, everyone always is asking Danielle and I, like, how are you guys doing you because for those that don't know, Danielle and I have full time jobs. We run this podcast. We have some other, you know, people that we help out with marketing and and things like that. And they're like, How do you have time? And I'm like, it's just us. Like, we don't have an editing team. and yeah, so it just didn't happen this week. And that's the first one in a while. So we should give ourselves some grace. Danielle: Yeah, like I we Catie: I think. Danielle: I was we'll just blame illness. We'll blame it on the Catie: Sickness. Danielle: on the illness. Catie: Yeah. I was home with one kid all by myself on Monday. And then like Tuesday, we had to like from the Chronicles of Jack having strep through like the whole month basically. had to get him retested for strep. So I had to take both kids to there. And it's the last week of camp for us too. So no daycare going into next week, which is gonna be really fun. Well, that's not true. Danielle: It is not fun, dude. It is not fun. And it is, I think the reason it's not fun is because you're so torn between like wanting to be a fun, good mom for the last few weeks and having to do your multiple job situations. Like, you know what I mean? Like follow up, even just following up still on people who might want to come on the podcast that we're excited about, that we want to talk to. Like that alone takes. effort and time. I just feel like it's a difficult transition that you're about to go into because you're gonna feel guilty no matter what you do. Catie: No, I know. I think that's a good point of like Jack starting kindergarten. It's di it's this 'cause we he's been in school. Like last year was basically school, but like kindergarten's different. It's like for real, real school. So like what are some things I need to do before he goes to kin like we're gonna go into a whole new world now. Danielle: I don't think there's anything that you need to do other than prep yourself because you are gonna feel like when they go to kindergarten, they're no longer a toddler. Like the moment they walk through that door is where you feel like they're no longer toddlers. And I think that it's hard, of course, it wasn't hard on Gold, and he was so excited, but it it I was excited for him. There were things that we did to prep, like one of the teachers this year actually gave confetti the night. I'll send you. I'll send it to you and I'll post it. It's adorable. And of course we missed, I was in Rochester with you, so we missed the Meet the Teacher, but she gave them all this little confetti that you sleep with under your bed and it takes away all your fears and like creates excitement. That Catie: yeah. Danielle: was super cute. So I would suggest doing that. Even the second graders loved it. I did like the kissing hand, like read that book and I spent the the one thing I did do is I bought a couple kindergarten books, like the 12 days of kindergarten, and I started reading those like the few weeks before. Catie: Yeah. Danielle: To get him excited, did the kissing hand, I bought matching bracelets, so that and then just make sure you get a video of you holding his hand, like walking him in or like to the like now I do to Catie: To the boss. Danielle: the car, like to the bus, whatever it is, 'cause I've done that with Colton every year and I like having it. So Catie: I know. I gotta figure out I'm gonna be here by myself with Jack. Like, I'm gonna probably set up my tripod and film me getting him on the bus. Danielle: just I'm not gonna lie, don't get us in it. I just do it from like my v my viewpoint. But you can Catie: Yeah. Yeah. Danielle: do the tripod, I mean it's the first time. Catie: We'll do what we have to do. Yeah, it's gonna be emotional. I just it's gonna be harder if he cries, but it'll be fine. We've been through it. Danielle: Yeah, I mean, you're gonna you you've got this. It's not gonna and then it's done, and then it's it's just done. I had Catie: I know. And then I Danielle: our first breakup in my house, and I'm so confused by it. Cause those of you and I don't even know if it's a real breakup, but those of you who know my son, the girl that he's been crushing on for over a year now, like they are pretty serious, right? He's seven and a half, but I find like love notes and like proposals from each other like all over, like They celebrated Valentine's Day, whatever. Well, she broke, he broke up with her. The way he said it to me was, and if you guys are listening, I'm sorry, I have no idea what the truth is. This is what I was told. like, so his best friend likes her, and she kind of likes him, and she they both told him. And but like she still likes Colton. Like, this is all play, they all still do playtime together, race us. So it's playtime talk. And Colden was like, mom, I'm I wasn't doing it. Like I'm if you don't, if you want someone else, you can have them. Like I broke up with her. But I was like, but she told you she likes somebody else. So didn't she kind of break up with? Like, are you okay? Like, I thought this was gonna be the most devastating moment of our lives. He was like, Catie: For sure. Danielle: no, like, it's fine. Like, I'm good. Like they like, and I'm saying Catie: Good for him. Stay strong. Danielle: I don't know, like, and I'm just waiting for like the tears to fall. And he he literally is like. Cool with his best friend and his girlfriend, you know, they're in class Catie: Okay. Danielle: together this year dating and I'm like, Man, if we all could handle conflict like this, we'd be doing much better in our lives. Yeah, like Catie: Wouldn't that be nice if we could? Danielle: I I take a note out of Colton's book. Like they're all good, genuinely. Catie: All still friends. Let's let's be friends so. There we go. Let's be friends. Yeah, Danielle: Yeah. Let's be friends. Like is that our new hashtag? Let's hash let's just be friends. There's no hashtags anymore, but you know what I mean. If there was. Catie: it'll be yeah, that's a big milestone though, you know? Danielle: Yeah. Catie: So maybe he'll have a new girlfriend in another month. Danielle: Well, I keep asking him. There's definitely a girl in his class who likes him. And he's like, no, mom. I'm like, how do you know she likes? She's blowing me kisses in class. She's telling me she's so crazy. Catie: These kids. Danielle: But then he's like smiling. But I think I know who he has a crush on, so I'm just waiting for it to come out. But I'm not gonna say it here because wouldn't want to ruin it for him. I'm a cool mom. After I just Catie: of course not. We can't blow up this be a cool mom, all right? Yeah. Yeah. Danielle: told his first breakup story on the podcast. And it's gonna live here forever. And he's gonna listen back. So good. Catie: That's okay. Yeah, he'll be able to remember it. It'll play at his wedding, our podcast. Danielle: Probably with her, who knows? Catie: that's crazy. I did also give an update on Calvin's eye patching. I don't think Danielle: I know. Catie: we've really talked about it very much either. but he's he Danielle: Who said he doesn't want to wear his glasses, right, when he's eye patching? Catie: just the poor kid. You feel so bad. He puts it on and he then he's like he tears up and he's like, I can't see. And Danielle: Yeah, one I Catie: I'm like, no. So then we were like tell like he's almost to the point where he's like he liked that we were explaining why like we're like, you gotta get your eye stronger and that. And he's like, okay. So then every day he takes it off. Is my eye strong enough now? Danielle: I love kid's concept of time because he's gonna ask that for the next like year. Catie: my gosh. And I'm like, I hope. Like we're getting we're gonna keep working every day. And he actually last night it was good. We were we're trying to like make the time that he wears it seem super normal. And like the first day or two, I let him watch TV because I was just trying to keep it on and like get him to be used to it. So I'm like, let's do it during like a rest period where he can just sit because The first day when he put it on, he's tripping, like he doesn't know like he can't see. So he's like really like he was knocking stuff over, like standing there doing stuff. But then yesterday we went out with it on and he did great. Like we went through all of Target with it. and he was walking around. He's in the cart a little bit, but he wore it that whole time and then he came home and him and Jack were like playing Candyland and he was wearing it. So he's doing way better with it, but it just breaks your heart when he's like, Is my eye strong enough now? But the patches on Amazon are the way to go. And shout out to my friend Heather that told me from the very beginning, she's like, just start patching as soon as if they even mention it, just try it because it takes forever to get into it. Like I can see why the doctor's like, Well, check back in in two months. Like, it's gonna take me a month to get him to even wear it the full two hours. And then by the time we go back, it'll be like Danielle: Yeah. It's a lot to ask a kid, like and like he said to you, like I can't see, like to them, like he can't see. He's got one eye. Catie: And listen, I know there's kids that they're six, eight hours a day, you know, that it it's it's tough. It's tough. Danielle: Yeah, it's that's that's a tough one, like being, you know, in that situation. It was like when Colden had the helmet, he couldn't say he could didn't want the helmet on. He was too Catie: Yeah. Danielle: little. And by the time he was big enough to like even recognize it, he was used to it. It's different when they're bigger. It it just is. Catie: It is. But this is a PSA to like make sure you stay on top of their appointments. When you think something's wrong, like say it twice so that you can get things looked at. I have like, you know, a couple people worried about remember I was asking you about asthma in kids and Danielle: Yeah. Catie: not like do it all while they're young, you know, to things are things are a little it may seem hard, but it's definitely probably easier than when they're seven, ten, and then they have to miss out and they miss out. Danielle: Yeah, they can say no, like when they're spinning the medicine out at you, or like, dude, this is a question that has nothing to do with an update, but we're talking about not wanting wear the eye patch, boy mom stuff. Colton is seven and a half, and when he sneezes, no matter what we've taught him, he sneezes like straight into the air. Snot is like today, there's like a snot like hanging all the way down. He's screaming, and we're like, go get a tissue, bud, like you have legs, like. You know what to do. But if I move it's gonna fall. Like it fell anyways, because I'm E deep and wiping Daisy's butt still. Cause she like, you know, I Catie: Yeah. Danielle: I can't do both. Why do they do that? Do your kids do that? Catie: Calvin Calvin's well the Jack's gotten better, but Calvin will do it and then he'll stand there and scream, Booger, Booger Danielle: Yes. Catie: Like just stand like he freezes. And it's like Danielle: That's what Colton does. It's like he is like what do I it's but Colton, you are able to Catie: It's Danielle: create things with like out of nowhere he created like a spinner yesterday that he was spinning like you are so smart, how can you not put two and two together? Like if you feel like you're gonna Catie: Take care of your Danielle: sneeze, go get a Kleenex or like Catie: Go in the yeah, go somewhere. I will say too, we had off the band-aid situation, we had Kelvin stub his toe and a piece of skin like flapped off the tip of his toe. And it's healed underneath it. So the like the skin's like kind of flapping at the top. So Ryan cut it off last night. And he was like, My body, I cut off my body. And we're like, no, no, no. So then we thought we convinced him it was a hangnail. I don't know where they learned the terminology hangnail. Probably from Jack freaking biting his nails, Danielle: Yeah. Catie: like he's got hangnails. I'm like, my God. Danielle: It's just like cha it's absolute constant chaos. And then like the only thing this is gonna sound terrible because we have so much work to do and I like always feel like I have so many things and there's just always I'm up. I never sleep, but my kids are still playing musical beds. Like it was Colton's Catie: Mm. Danielle: night last night and I fell asleep there and I've been sick, so I've just been staying in there. Daisy's the last two nights have like run in and then I have to like reorganize so I'm like up every night. And I'm scrolling, and the only thing that makes my mind not chaotic, and you know where I'm going with this, is scrolling my feed of like BTS and stray kids, which is just so unhealthy. Like if don't tell Jordan's not listening to this, but if he does listen to this, I bought a ticket. We're budgeting. I have a ticket on lock for August 23rd to Rochester for 24 hours. In case the tickets go down for BTS in Toronto with my little cousin. She turns 30 this year, I turned 40. This is our excuse. We're like, we have to go. Like, we have to do this. It's the only thing giving me sanity at the moment. And then I'm like, Danielle, you need to figure out something else here than this. So I've Catie: the additional outlet that we can get through. Danielle: been noticing a trend. My cousin just posted something on it. And it's about, it's not a trend. This is old, but people are just. posting about it constantly, like Catie: Yeah. Danielle: romanticizing your everyday. So I wanna know, Katie, how would you romanticize your day? So far. Yeah. Catie: romanticize my day. I there hasn't there isn't. There isn't that. I mean, I get my s I got Starbucks. Danielle: I did do that too. So like that's like one thing, right? Like I walked I didn't even walk, I stayed in the car, but like pre ordered. Catie: I walked well, Calvin had to come in with me. Ryan drove us. And also, quick sidetrack. This is gonna be a whole episode of side everything. Danielle: Just randomness. Catie: and I don't know how often you're in this situation because Jordan goes to work so early. so like we dropped Jack off 'cause it's Jack's last day at camp. We dropped him off. I also like wanted to get it's great when we Danielle: Yeah, you guys are so cute. We've never done this. Catie: get yes, like it's great when we all can get out of the house first thing in the morning. It like it helps. So we go and get I'm like, I'm gonna get we need to get coffee. And so we're getting coffee, but Ryan doesn't order anything. So I got coffee. He asked me, he's like, Do you wanna go get coffee? I'm like, Yeah. So we go and he doesn't get anything. Danielle: Romanticize, but he's trying to do that like to be you happy. Catie: Just get it. Just get it. Danielle: Colt Jordan does not get coffee either. Sometimes he'll be like, I guess I'll get a refresher. Like usually it's me getting coffee, the kids getting a snack and he's there. But Catie: I got Danielle: that's the moments where I'm like, he's doing this for me. Catie: True. So okay, so you're right, you changed my frame of mind on it. He was being romantic. Danielle: He wants to be romant like see, romanticize it. Like my husband loves me so much that he wan instead of staying home and hitting balls or doing something, he wanted to come with me and my son to get coffee. Romantic. See? Catie: It was being romantic. Wow. Okay, so yes, my day's been super romantic so far today. Danielle: I'm so happy you. Catie: I love reading my Kindle, that's romantic. And the books I read are romantic in some capacity. Some sometimes. They're of the romance Danielle: that your books are not ro I would not call them romantic. I would call them dirt dirty. Catie: they're of the romance genre. Danielle: genre, you are you you are correct. Meanwhile, I'm reading like the book I read Catie: Murder. Danielle: is not quite dead. That's like what I just said. It was so you would not like it. But I loved it. Catie: You would have loved the book I just the gir the book I just read that was about a girl that was reading books and she was it was funny 'cause she was going between like murder mysteries and this and the guy she was like trying to be with was like trying to read the books with her to like do something with her and like, you know, and he was not into the murder books. Danielle: Yeah, that would be Jordan. Jordan's not reading any books. He's now listening to all the dirty books that you Catie: Yes. Danielle: suggest. or yeah, like it's Catie: It's better than imachi and porn. Danielle: I'd take I'll take it. Now he knows what's in my mind. But like I'm sure that if he Catie: Ha ha ha. Danielle: ever read like any of the weird ones, like act like he's on the sports one. Like if he read like the fairy smut and stuff, he'd be like, What the hell is this? Like, this is what you want. Catie: Feel like actual yes. That's the thing. There's some weird shit out there. Danielle: Then he'd understand my obsession with Felix for Stray Kids. Like, yeah, I want like a little Faye fairy that turns into a beast. Like he transforms Catie: He's a fairy. Danielle: from this little fairy to a beast and like you never know what you're gonna get. Like Catie: my god. Danielle: maybe that ex I you know what, maybe Aqatar is to blame for a lot of my issues. I don't know. But regardless, Catie: Mm. Yeah, yeah. Danielle: like that's like books romantic, like romanticizing your life. Like that is all I guess that like works. It does tr tr track. Catie: It's hard with little kids. It's like, going out to dinner, mm that's not romantic anymore. Everyone screams and there's Danielle: Yeah. Catie: toys everywhere. Like Calvin's crawling on the ground under the table picking up toys. I'm trying to wash his hand like spray his hands every five seconds. That's not romantic. Danielle: Like this not in the poop, like let's how do we make that a romantic moment? Catie: Danielle, yesterday morning. I don't know what I'm gonna do. I either need to like just start not caring at all. My bathrooms smell 247. These kids piss everywhere. Calvin's not even trying Danielle: We got the work. Catie: to get it in the toilet. I'm like, dude. But he wants to be a big boy and go by himself. He doesn't want to use the stool. And our upstairs toilet is like small enough that he doesn't have to use the stool. The downstairs one, if he goes on his tippy toes, he's fine. Come downstairs yesterday, it's on my wall. Down the baseboard is yellow. Like I I'm like Danielle: Elastic, like if anyone has a solution, 'cause the like potties, like that what you we got, like what you posted about yesterday should help like for I I definitely need it for travel Catie: On the go. Danielle: because Colton is constantly like it is every time we're nowhere near a bathroom. But like, Catie: Constantly. Danielle: do we you know like Dexter, the show Dexter where they saran wrap like the room before he like murders people? Catie: huh. Danielle: Basically, like maybe you have to saran wrap the bathrooms once a week. Catie: I'm gonna I need to get like a around the outside of the toilet like wings. Danielle: The cold. Catie: Yeah, like they have to go into a funnel into the Danielle: We should like do we should design it. Catie: I'm gonna invent you know what? I'm so motivated by a Katie from last week. I'm I should. Danielle: Yeah, like just in bed like if it's not there, invent it. And I want to create, you know, like in the bathrooms, the public bathrooms, how they have like the the papers that will like just turn. Like so your butt's on Catie: yeah. Mm-hmm. Danielle: a new thing, whether it's actually new or not, I'd never trust it. But Daisy will only poop in her mini potty to this day. Like that's her favorite. And it's disgusting because you then have to clean it. Like, Catie: You have to Yeah. Danielle: and I don't know, I'm outside like spraying it down, but like It just seems super unsanitary. Like and I want to create it where like she presses a button and it like go there's like a bag at the bottom and it goes and then a new one comes in. You know, like a dog. Catie: It's almost like they have automatic litter boxes for cats. You need that. I'll send you the link. We Danielle: I need an automatic layer box for Daisy. Do they have those? Catie: can add a toilet onto the top of it. there's something here. There's something here. Danielle: Yeah. Yeah. So me and Katie might be rich. We might not be doing the pod next week because Yeah. Patented. But yeah, so this was Catie: You know what? We can't put this up 'cause we need to trademark it before we do. And I Danielle: this has just been absolute chaos for both of us. Sorry that you just had to hear us rant about God knows what, but Catie: There's so many more rants I could go on too. Like it's just Danielle: Yeah. Catie: been been a fun week. But Danielle: Yeah, the last thing I'll say is if you I've been minimizing and decluttering with Chat GPT and it's been one of the most amazing experiences of Catie: yeah, you have so like is she giving you like a to do list? Like do you have a daily task list or is it just it's the plan and you do the plan as you can? Danielle: This is what I love about it. I told her, like, she knows my brain now. And let's be real. Like when I'm on something, I'm on something. You know, when I'm not Catie: You are one. Yeah, yeah. Danielle: on it, I'm like, to-do lists don't always motivate me. It's more like I need immediate gratification. Like, I'm in it. Like, let's keep going. I have the capacity. Let's go. What I'm loving is I did some prompts and it started with I took pictures of the whole I wanted to do the downstairs. I took pictures of the whole house and then I did a video tour of the whole house. And she started to give me It's all started because I needed I need a new couch because my dogs and like everything. But it's not like time yet. So I was like, you what? I just want make it look better. Help me. So it started with her mocking up the living room. And then basically I've just been going as I have time room by room with pictures. And then she'll tell me what I should do on a shelf, for example. And then I will like, I wish you guys could like have seen my shelf. Katie's seen my shelves before, but like I'll and I haven't bought a single thing. So I'll go through each room and they'll tell me like what to look for. And then I go like search for it in the house. And then I redo it, send a picture. Okay, change this. And then I change that. And even my mom, who like not normally was like, she's like, I can't get over how good it looks in here. Like cohesive and intentional and clean. And I'm like, thanks, man. So if you have time Catie: Love that. Danielle: at 3 a.m., that's when I'm doing it. Chat G P T and redesign your hub. Catie: I mean, it's fair. That is a good plan. I I need the help as well. Like I need I need one of the robots to actually come and do it for me. You know? Yeah, I want Danielle: Yeah, that she doesn't do do that part. Catie: like the Tesla robot to come to my house and do it. Danielle: Have you seen some of these robots though? Like the videos? There's one of the robots going hard on a Catie: They cracked me up. They cracked me up. Danielle: like doing dirty things to like Catie: There was one where they like were fighting and like the human was like, Don't fight, don't fight and like it's so dumb, but this is what we needed. Hopefully you all maybe were having a hard week and you can laugh with us or at I don't care if you laugh at us at this point. but I know quick, quick episode Danielle: At us, we don't care. But we do have to clock back into the nine to five if calling. Catie: today, but we'll be back at it next week. We have an awesome guest next week you don't want to miss. So Danielle: Absolutely. Catie: Let's clock out and clock back in to nine to five. Danielle: As Daisy would do please.
