- 0:25Speaker 2: Films off our shame lists.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Sometimes it's their first watch and sometimes it's mine, but sometimes.
- 0:32Speaker 3: It's new for both of us.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Then we dine the characters, the cultural impact, and whether
- 0:39Speaker 1: it actually lives up to the hype. From legendary classics
- 0:42Speaker 1: to cult oddities to.
- 0:44Speaker 3: The films we somehow missed along the way.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Join us as we turn movie shame into movie discussion.
- 0:51Speaker 1: This is the Shameless Picture Show.
- 0:58Speaker 4: You are now listening to the Someone's Favorite Productions podcast network.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I just want to ask you. I want to ask
- 2:16Speaker 2: you if maybe you've you've seen somebody?
- 2:20Speaker 4: My sister, she came camping up around here with some
- 2:24Speaker 4: friends and she's going missing.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Sheane missing, she's dead. What people go missing around here?
- 2:36Speaker 5: They're gone for good. Outsiders come, they don't know where
- 2:40Speaker 5: to walk. They bring trouble. You just won't be left alone,
- 2:44Speaker 5: and so does he?
- 2:47Speaker 2: So does who?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Man?
- 2:52Speaker 2: Please whom?
- 3:21Speaker 3: Hello all you campers gather around the campfire because tonight
- 3:26Speaker 3: I'm beyond the blood. We're talking about Jason, and I
- 3:30Speaker 3: don't mean Jason Siegel. I don't even mean Jason Stathum.
- 3:34Speaker 3: We're talking about Jason four. Yes, you know the name Steve,
- 3:40Speaker 3: I've heard of him. Yeah, tonight we were talking about
- 3:45Speaker 3: Friday the Thirteenth from two thousand and nine, directed by
- 3:49Speaker 3: Marcus the Spell. We have a little bit of a
- 3:53Speaker 3: mess with this one. We got numerous commentary tracks kind
- 3:58Speaker 3: of coming in and out, and this one was this
- 4:02Speaker 3: was a fun time.
- 4:04Speaker 2: It feels like a Frankenstein episode. It feels almost like
- 4:07Speaker 2: appropriate given and you know Jason in the context of
- 4:10Speaker 2: how he continues to keep coming back and comes back
- 4:14Speaker 2: to life over and over again.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Basically, basically, my name is Chris Higgins. I go by
- 4:21Speaker 3: the Bearded film Guy and has always been joined by
- 4:24Speaker 3: my incredible host Steve from After Howards video.
- 4:27Speaker 2: What's Happening Man Ray tou Prady to tell some ghost
- 4:32Speaker 2: stories around the campfire or what.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you know this was okay. We did the original
- 4:38Speaker 3: Friday the Thirteenth with Pizzle, and when we were kind
- 4:43Speaker 3: of sitting back and questioning what we were going to
- 4:45Speaker 3: cover next. I thought this was gonna be like, I
- 4:48Speaker 3: thought this was a home run, a brand slam, because.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Did you like the movie so much?
- 4:55Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, because of one of the commentary tracks, Man,
- 4:58Speaker 3: one of the commentary tracks that are on the new
- 5:00Speaker 3: Arrow four K release, I was super excited about. Not
- 5:03Speaker 3: that I'm any less excited about that commentary track, but
- 5:09Speaker 3: I think we both learned really quickly that we had
- 5:11Speaker 3: to kind of go back to dig up some more
- 5:14Speaker 3: information from a different set of people, Yeah, to try
- 5:21Speaker 3: to get enough information to have a conversation.
- 5:25Speaker 2: To Camp Crystal Lake.
- 5:27Speaker 3: We went to Camp Crystal Lake. We survived Jason, then
- 5:30Speaker 3: we went back. We're like, we got to go back.
- 5:32Speaker 3: We got to face him again. He's still there. We
- 5:35Speaker 3: don't got enough time to let this be right. So
- 5:43Speaker 3: this episode I think is really, I think a testament
- 5:47Speaker 3: to the varying types of audio commentaries you can find
- 5:53Speaker 3: yourself getting into. And we'll go we'll go into that,
- 5:59Speaker 3: all right. Well, I'll talk about that in a bit.
- 6:02Speaker 3: What's your what's your take? On Friday thirteenth, two thousand
- 6:06Speaker 3: and nine.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Oh Man, So well, this was, if I recall correctly,
- 6:12Speaker 2: this was the first Friday, the thirteenth film, I guess
- 6:15Speaker 2: it would be the most recent one that we got,
- 6:19Speaker 2: but that was my one and only experience being able
- 6:22Speaker 2: to see this when it was in theaters.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Oh you did okay.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Outside of that, I mean, some of the older ones,
- 6:28Speaker 2: like the first couple, I've seen at the drive in before,
- 6:31Speaker 2: but for this, this was an actual theatrical experience. I
- 6:35Speaker 2: think that That's why when I go back and I
- 6:37Speaker 2: revisit this one, Stephanie nostalgic and it definitely feels like
- 6:41Speaker 2: during that remake era that we were getting. I mean,
- 6:44Speaker 2: you know between this Texas, Chainsaw Rob, Zombies, Halloween. So yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 2: I love revisiting this film. To be honest, you have.
- 6:54Speaker 3: The well obviously you do because of this, but you
- 6:57Speaker 3: were excited about the Arrow four K announcement.
- 6:59Speaker 2: For this, Yeah, it was a welcome surprise. That was
- 7:03Speaker 2: the first out of the three that we've gotten so far,
- 7:06Speaker 2: and I have to say it looks stunning packaging all
- 7:11Speaker 2: the way down to the transfer, all the the audio
- 7:14Speaker 2: commentaries that we get on this, as well as special features.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Definitely a loaded set. This is one that I feel
- 7:20Speaker 2: like more recently I would highly recommend for sure.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Yeah, This was a great set, and this was one
- 7:25Speaker 3: that I jumped on immediately, like, bought this right away,
- 7:29Speaker 3: this Jason X Jason Goes to Hell. Even the two
- 7:33Speaker 3: TCM of three TCM the beginning, like these were day
- 7:36Speaker 3: one pre orders for me. I was super stoked to
- 7:39Speaker 3: see exactly what we could get from air video for
- 7:44Speaker 3: these movies, and we didn't already have before, right because
- 7:47Speaker 3: this is I think these make like the third copy
- 7:49Speaker 3: of each of these movies that I own, So it
- 7:52Speaker 3: was kind of.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Like I took a problem to have, right, you know,
- 7:54Speaker 2: I was like, how.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Many how many more of these do I need? But
- 7:59Speaker 3: this was really cool because we got numerous commentary tracks
- 8:03Speaker 3: across both the theatrical cut and the Killer cut of the film,
- 8:09Speaker 3: and you and I initially were planning on strictly covering
- 8:14Speaker 3: the commentary track on the final cut, which was with
- 8:17Speaker 3: Alexander Heller Nicholss and Josh Nelson. Yes, for those who
- 8:22Speaker 3: don't know, Alexander Heller Nicholas is one of my favorite
- 8:25Speaker 3: voices in all of film, basically film discussion, film criticism.
- 8:33Speaker 3: She has written numerous books that I owned that are
- 8:36Speaker 3: actually on the shelf right over here. Absolutely just just
- 8:41Speaker 3: love reading and listening to her talk about movies, a
- 8:46Speaker 3: huge inspiration for me. On the theatrical cut, which is
- 8:50Speaker 3: a different disc also available in four K in a set,
- 8:54Speaker 3: there's a commentary track with the writers, and then there's
- 8:57Speaker 3: a commentary track with Marcus the Spell, which was the
- 9:00Speaker 3: only commentary track he ever recorded for the movie, which
- 9:05Speaker 3: was recorded what sixteen years after the movie came out.
- 9:13Speaker 3: So it's pretty cool. Yeah, it's it's really cool. And
- 9:16Speaker 3: you and I were going back and forth because we
- 9:18Speaker 3: had both listened to the woman Alexander Heller Nicholas, and
- 9:21Speaker 3: as you'll hear it a bit, we couldn't exactly dig
- 9:24Speaker 3: a lot out of it that was worthy of an
- 9:27Speaker 3: hour and a half discussion. It is an incredible track,
- 9:32Speaker 3: Like I cannot urge people enough to go give it
- 9:35Speaker 3: a listen, But for what we do where we're really
- 9:38Speaker 3: kind of breaking down and trying to figure out what
- 9:40Speaker 3: we can learn. The discussion between her and Josh was
- 9:45Speaker 3: very broad, very insightful, but not very particular to this
- 9:50Speaker 3: film in general. More so the kind of the conversation
- 9:55Speaker 3: of the American the American horror remakes and such like that,
- 10:00Speaker 3: how did you come out of that commentary track feeling
- 10:04Speaker 3: for the market spell No that Alexander Heller Nicholas Josh.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Oh my bad. Yeah, I mean I definitely felt like
- 10:12Speaker 2: it was It was really informative. I felt like what
- 10:16Speaker 2: I was able to take away from just this experience, this,
- 10:21Speaker 2: this rewatch, this experience as a whole. I felt like
- 10:23Speaker 2: I was able to take a little bit more away
- 10:25Speaker 2: from the marcuts to spell audio commentary, to be honest,
- 10:28Speaker 2: and I felt like that that was, you know, hearing
- 10:31Speaker 2: straight from the source. It was a little bit more
- 10:33Speaker 2: eye opening to me because I didn't realize exactly what
- 10:36Speaker 2: type of experience he had had during filming this, which
- 10:40Speaker 2: I thought was fascinating. So that was the one that
- 10:43Speaker 2: I preferred just a little bit more, if I'm being honest,
- 10:45Speaker 2: and was able to tap into that for the deep
- 10:49Speaker 2: dive that we're gonna be doing on this movie.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I think. I think what we have here is
- 10:58Speaker 3: sort of a perfect release that kind of shows off
- 11:02Speaker 3: the different types of audio commentaries, and people are either
- 11:06Speaker 3: going to love one of these and hate the other,
- 11:09Speaker 3: or they're going to dig both, depending on what level
- 11:12Speaker 3: I feel like you are in the genre and how
- 11:18Speaker 3: far you get in discussion wise is going to depend
- 11:20Speaker 3: really where you're going to fall. But I think it's
- 11:25Speaker 3: great that Aero Video was able to source out not
- 11:28Speaker 3: only Alexander Heller, Nicholson Josh Nelson to do a commentary track,
- 11:31Speaker 3: but also get misspelled back, get the writers back to
- 11:35Speaker 3: do it, actually invest into this movie a lot, because
- 11:38Speaker 3: this is a movie that I think, in general is
- 11:40Speaker 3: pretty beloved.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Right, I would definitely say this is I mean, I
- 11:48Speaker 2: think when you talk about this specific decade of film
- 11:52Speaker 2: that we were getting a lot of remakes, some to
- 11:54Speaker 2: varying quality. I would say that this is usually received
- 11:57Speaker 2: as like one of the better ones that we got
- 11:59Speaker 2: during this time. I speak on my own behalf. This
- 12:02Speaker 2: is one that I come back to more often than not.
- 12:04Speaker 2: For sure, I was the opposite.
- 12:08Speaker 3: So in every single episode of this show for nearly
- 12:12Speaker 3: two years now, I've said how doing the research for
- 12:16Speaker 3: these episodes has made me love a movie even more
- 12:18Speaker 3: than I did before this. I actually like the movie
- 12:23Speaker 3: less than I did before.
- 12:28Speaker 2: That's fair. Some films are like that. I know we
- 12:30Speaker 2: were talking about a few before we I'm down here
- 12:33Speaker 2: to record, but yeah, yeah, I certainly could understand that.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I mean, there's there's certain things I think in hindsight
- 12:42Speaker 2: that do work about this and other things that maybe
- 12:46Speaker 2: I might not always agree with the audience.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Yeah, if I americrantly before we hit play, I think
- 12:51Speaker 3: you said something along the lines of like Interstellar's Christopher
- 12:54Speaker 3: Nolan's weakest, I never said, I'm just kidding.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Our rumors started.
- 13:01Speaker 3: The better you better, you better watch your back, dude,
- 13:07Speaker 3: I'm not raiding anything anymore. No, no, no, I always I've
- 13:13Speaker 3: always liked this movie. I always thought this movie was good.
- 13:16Speaker 3: I will say that I think I found myself with
- 13:18Speaker 3: a little bit more nitpicky about certain things on these
- 13:22Speaker 3: couple of watches. And I think the Friday thirteenth franchise
- 13:27Speaker 3: is one It's always going to be like a continuous
- 13:30Speaker 3: swapping around for me, in like a ranking situation. I
- 13:34Speaker 3: have never rewatched a franchise and stuck true to how
- 13:39Speaker 3: I feel about certain entries. It always changes, well, especially
- 13:43Speaker 3: with this franchise. For me, at least, these are comfort movies,
- 13:48Speaker 3: at least the first eight, and then you know the
- 13:52Speaker 3: rest of them might pick and choose when I'm going
- 13:54Speaker 3: back to watch them. But this is one that I
- 13:58Speaker 3: feel like you get a little bit of everything in it.
- 14:00Speaker 3: It's definitely a different take on Jason compared to anything
- 14:04Speaker 3: that we've seen before, and we'll obviously dive into that
- 14:06Speaker 3: a little bit later on. But yeah, overall, I mean
- 14:11Speaker 3: I always put this up there with Texas Chainsaw. Definitely
- 14:16Speaker 3: a lot of overlap between the teams that were associated
- 14:19Speaker 3: with both films. So yeah, yeah, so let's let's dive
- 14:24Speaker 3: into it all right. So first I have do you
- 14:28Speaker 3: have a lot of notes from the Alexander Heller Nicholas commentary?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Most of mine are all through the Marcus to Spell
- 14:36Speaker 2: commentary for me first or personally for my notes.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Okay, okay, So I'll go over to things that I
- 14:42Speaker 3: that I got from this that I thought were super important.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Like I said, this commentary truck is only on the
- 14:49Speaker 3: the Killer Cut disc It's the only commentary track available
- 14:52Speaker 3: on the Killer Cut for the aerow of four K release.
- 14:55Speaker 3: Brilliant track. Much more of a broader discussion than particularly
- 15:00Speaker 3: like a It's more of like a discussion of where
- 15:02Speaker 3: this film lands in kind of like the overall genre
- 15:05Speaker 3: movements of the two thousands, and it's absolutely fascinating, full
- 15:09Speaker 3: of education. I definitely think this track needs to be
- 15:13Speaker 3: listened to. But Alexander Helen Nicholas at one point brings
- 15:17Speaker 3: up an incredibly interesting point that basically into two thousands,
- 15:22Speaker 3: you had this explosion period for these glossy horror remakes
- 15:27Speaker 3: led by Platinum Dunes. We know we lived it. I
- 15:31Speaker 3: was there, but we were there, bro But there is
- 15:34Speaker 3: this kind of substantial changing period in two thousand and
- 15:37Speaker 3: nine when Paranormal Activity comes out that was technically like
- 15:44Speaker 3: debuted in two thousand and seven, went wide theatrical release
- 15:49Speaker 3: two thousand and nine. Friday the Thirteenth was released eight
- 15:54Speaker 3: months before Paranormal Activity was And if you want to
- 15:58Speaker 3: mark Paranormal Activity as a new era for horror, talking
- 16:03Speaker 3: about spawning into like the conjuring is much more like, yeah, insidious,
- 16:09Speaker 3: a supernatural kind of realm. Friday Thirteenth actually kind of
- 16:14Speaker 3: book ends a pretty clear change in genre tone, and
- 16:21Speaker 3: her and Josh actually kind of say that Friday Thirteenth,
- 16:22Speaker 3: two thousand and nine is kind of the movie that
- 16:25Speaker 3: closes out an era that we'll never see again, which
- 16:30Speaker 3: I never thought about in in that context, are.
- 16:34Speaker 2: You trying to tell me that the r in Elm
- 16:36Speaker 2: Street remake doesn't do it for you?
- 16:40Speaker 3: What are we what are we been talking about?
- 16:41Speaker 1: Man?
- 16:45Speaker 2: Anyways?
- 16:48Speaker 3: Which one is about the one coming out soon?
- 16:50Speaker 2: For that one, that's a whole separate conversation.
- 16:56Speaker 3: I just thought this was an interesting point because it's
- 16:58Speaker 3: a oh, she's right, like, you know, yeah, of course.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:01Speaker 3: I mean, I personally am a bigger fan of the
- 17:05Speaker 3: pre of the pre Paranormal Activity two thousands horror than
- 17:10Speaker 3: I am of the you know, insidious conjuring kind of
- 17:12Speaker 3: like that James Wan Blumhouse period. I think James Wand
- 17:15Speaker 3: is an incredible director, but it's more so like what
- 17:19Speaker 3: came from inspiration as inspiration from what Wan did, and
- 17:24Speaker 3: kind of like the path that that horror went on
- 17:26Speaker 3: for a long while, which I think actually kind of
- 17:29Speaker 3: lasted until Ty West came in with X and Pearl
- 17:33Speaker 3: and Maxine and that kind of I feel like, relaunched
- 17:35Speaker 3: a new.
- 17:37Speaker 2: You definitely had a lot in between that that I
- 17:40Speaker 2: felt like, you know, once you're starting getting films like
- 17:44Speaker 2: The Witch, it follows kind of all kicks starting. What
- 17:49Speaker 2: would you consider that more of like the Elevator horror
- 17:51Speaker 2: that started coming out around that time.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I hate that term, but I guess
- 17:56Speaker 3: if that's.
- 17:56Speaker 2: For me, it's elevated horror.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Understanding it's l elevated, it's smarter.
- 18:01Speaker 2: I wouldn't understand.
- 18:04Speaker 3: God elevated black, Philip Black, Philip Black. I had to
- 18:11Speaker 3: do it. Uh, yeah, the elevated horror. Don't even get
- 18:14Speaker 3: me started on the babaduk. That movie sucks.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I I I wouldn't go that far, but I don't
- 18:23Speaker 2: think it's as uh.
- 18:25Speaker 3: That kid should have died act one way better movie,
- 18:30Speaker 3: way better movie. One other note, and I think this
- 18:36Speaker 3: is probably one of the most important notes. I'm going
- 18:38Speaker 3: to go over this entire episode because this is very
- 18:40Speaker 3: up my alley and I want people to to really
- 18:45Speaker 3: go and find this. At one point in this commentary track,
- 18:50Speaker 3: Josh Nelson cites a an Academia publication titled Reanimated the
- 18:56Speaker 3: Contemporary Horror Remake by Laura Me and I'm gonna have
- 18:59Speaker 3: this linked in the description below so people can find
- 19:02Speaker 3: it and possibly give this a read, and he brings
- 19:05Speaker 3: up a point that was raised in this publication, talking
- 19:09Speaker 3: about the kind of hypocrisy that goes on where people
- 19:13Speaker 3: kind of instantly dismiss a movie because it's a remake.
- 19:18Speaker 3: And we see this all the time. We see this
- 19:19Speaker 3: with new information of remakes. We've seen this forever right
- 19:23Speaker 3: where there's a crowd of people who are instantly like,
- 19:26Speaker 3: this has no merit because it's a remake. Right time
- 19:30Speaker 3: and time again, this has happened. I think every remake
- 19:32Speaker 3: to some extent has had this reaction. And he brings up,
- 19:37Speaker 3: obviously through citing this publication, that horror goes in cycles,
- 19:42Speaker 3: and that some of the most beloved films in this
- 19:45Speaker 3: genre are remakes in themselves, and he goes on to
- 19:48Speaker 3: directly talk about Cronaberg's The Fly Carpenter is the Thing,
- 19:53Speaker 3: you know, those were his two kind of biggest He's like,
- 19:57Speaker 3: and I believe this is exact quoel. He said, like,
- 20:00Speaker 3: three movies in his top five from the eighties are
- 20:04Speaker 3: remakes The Blob, Chuck Russell's The Blob or remp Chuck Russell.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Those are three titles that were all in his top five,
- 20:12Speaker 3: all remakes. So he goes through just talking about how
- 20:19Speaker 3: this cycle of remakes, this is not gonna be This
- 20:23Speaker 3: is obviously not the first and this is not the
- 20:24Speaker 3: last time this will ever happen. This will come back
- 20:26Speaker 3: around again, and we'll get you know this again.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I believe it. I mean, if you dissect this film,
- 20:34Speaker 2: you take it a little bit further. I mean, it's
- 20:38Speaker 2: an amalgamation of a lot of the earlier Friday the
- 20:41Speaker 2: Thirteenth films, kind of cherry picking certain aspects about it,
- 20:45Speaker 2: while I think giving us a much different portrayal of
- 20:48Speaker 2: Jason as a whole and just how he's you know,
- 20:51Speaker 2: instead of this hulking figure that is just stalking the campers,
- 20:57Speaker 2: this one is more of like a survivalist or like
- 20:59Speaker 2: a straight up hunter, And for that I have to
- 21:03Speaker 2: give niss Spell and the rest of the team credit
- 21:07Speaker 2: for at least giving something somewhat fresh. I think for
- 21:12Speaker 2: the franchise, you know, we're how many, however many films
- 21:16Speaker 2: in at this point, so it's like you kind of
- 21:18Speaker 2: have to do something to introduce this character to a
- 21:21Speaker 2: new audience.
- 21:23Speaker 3: I yeah, I completely agree. I think Marcus Nispell was
- 21:29Speaker 3: like a clear choice for this. His textas Chainsaw Mask
- 21:33Speaker 3: of Remake was very good. I think that is a
- 21:38Speaker 3: movie I will revisit more than Friday the Thirteenth, two
- 21:41Speaker 3: thousand and nine. But I think which we'll get into
- 21:46Speaker 3: probably in the next ten seconds here is kind of
- 21:49Speaker 3: what Nisspell's experience was like on this movie according.
- 21:54Speaker 2: To him, which I was surprised.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't know this. I don't know how public
- 22:01Speaker 3: this is. I don't know if this was discussed really
- 22:04Speaker 3: in detail before this audio commentary. This we're gonna jump
- 22:08Speaker 3: into a brand new audio commentary track with director Marcus Dispell.
- 22:12Speaker 3: This was recorded in twenty twenty five directly for this
- 22:15Speaker 3: error video release. Side note, This commentary tract is only
- 22:20Speaker 3: available in the theatrical disc this film no Killer Cut.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I was It's funny you say that, because I
- 22:29Speaker 2: was actually taking a quick look into what the main
- 22:32Speaker 2: difference is from the theatrical versus a killer cut. It
- 22:36Speaker 2: just seems like more extended scenes with additional nudity and
- 22:44Speaker 2: violence or gore. So it's interesting to kind of like,
- 22:49Speaker 2: if you look at them side by side just exactly,
- 22:52Speaker 2: you know how much it trims off and how much
- 22:54Speaker 2: of a difference that actually ends up making it looks
- 22:56Speaker 2: like it is. See the cut has about nine minutes
- 23:01Speaker 2: and forty six seconds longer than the theatrical. Yeah, it
- 23:07Speaker 2: looks like a lot of the the violent scenes, nudity,
- 23:12Speaker 2: and then just some additional story extensions with it. Nothing mazing.
- 23:18Speaker 3: I don't know if I've ever seen the theatrical cut
- 23:20Speaker 3: of this, But except for when I was doing research
- 23:22Speaker 3: for this, I had only I did not see this
- 23:26Speaker 3: in theaters. I got this on DVD, and when I
- 23:28Speaker 3: got this on or I got it on Blue Ray.
- 23:29Speaker 3: When I got it on Blu Ray, it was just
- 23:31Speaker 3: a killer cut. So I had never seen the theatrical
- 23:35Speaker 3: until I was listening to this commentary track. And it
- 23:38Speaker 3: was actually funny because when I started the commentary track,
- 23:42Speaker 3: I was like, Oh, I wonder if I wonder if
- 23:45Speaker 3: Trent saying your tits are stupendous is only a killer
- 23:48Speaker 3: cut thing or a theatrical cut thing.
- 23:52Speaker 2: The most iconic line of the whole film.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it didn't really get answered for me because Marcus
- 23:56Speaker 3: des Bell was yapping over the whole entire scene. I
- 24:00Speaker 3: didn't hear if it was in there.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Was it just me? Or did they like mute out
- 24:05Speaker 2: more of the film. It was really it was very
- 24:10Speaker 2: like scaled down for the volume, yes, but to a.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Degree that I like, I don't I don't want to
- 24:18Speaker 3: know the twister situation where Yondbant is just as loud
- 24:24Speaker 3: as Bill Paxson is on Twitter.
- 24:26Speaker 2: You're gonna say the Tornado.
- 24:28Speaker 3: No, probably yeah, no, I that's probably true. That's probably true.
- 24:33Speaker 3: On a decibel level, it was. You're probably right. They
- 24:35Speaker 3: did not try to separate the audio tracks whatsoever or
- 24:39Speaker 3: dim down the film. So I'm like here, I am
- 24:41Speaker 3: listening as closely as possible to hear Yondabant and Bill
- 24:45Speaker 3: Paxson's yelling over them, and I just got to a
- 24:48Speaker 3: point where I was like, I've had enough. I can't
- 24:50Speaker 3: continue to do this anymore. I can't.
- 24:51Speaker 2: So you're saying we're not gonna be covering Twister on
- 24:53Speaker 2: Beyond the Blood.
- 24:55Speaker 3: If somebody wants to go and separate this track from
- 24:58Speaker 3: me and and make it easier, it's absolutely fucking ridiculous
- 25:03Speaker 3: that the audio was the same volume on I've fuck
- 25:09Speaker 3: this is impossible. I literally stopped, I like dead stop
- 25:12Speaker 3: the movie. I was like, I can't do this.
- 25:14Speaker 2: That's hilarious.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Insane, dude, insane. So yeah, My first note that I
- 25:20Speaker 3: have here is Marcus talking about his editor Ken Blackwell,
- 25:26Speaker 3: and this is where it gets interesting, and how he
- 25:30Speaker 3: saved this movie for him. And according to Marcus, there
- 25:35Speaker 3: were many hands in the kitchen and he felt like
- 25:38Speaker 3: a dog with many leashes. Exact quote. So I actually
- 25:44Speaker 3: considered taking his name off of the movie when production wrapped.
- 25:49Speaker 2: I was surprised by that because I'm thinking to myself,
- 25:53Speaker 2: that's already you know. I mean, this is right from
- 25:55Speaker 2: the jump of the auto commentary, he's already saying that.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I'm thinking myself, like, how did we not know any
- 26:01Speaker 2: of this?
- 26:02Speaker 3: Can you imagine Frida thirteen thousand and nine, directed by
- 26:04Speaker 3: Alan Smithy?
- 26:08Speaker 2: It went and had the same ring to.
- 26:10Speaker 3: It, yet the same ring, And when he I guess,
- 26:15Speaker 3: I guess he was in the process of potentially getting
- 26:17Speaker 3: his name removed, and he saw a rough cut that
- 26:22Speaker 3: was put together by Ken and realized that there actually
- 26:24Speaker 3: might be something here, and that's what had him keep
- 26:29Speaker 3: his name on and finish out the full post production
- 26:33Speaker 3: of the film.
- 26:35Speaker 2: I just don't I don't see it. I mean, I
- 26:39Speaker 2: know you said you liked this film less, but I
- 26:42Speaker 2: definitely feel like in the pantheon of horror remakes that
- 26:46Speaker 2: we got around this time, I mean, overall, it's it's
- 26:51Speaker 2: I mean, you're getting everything that you should be getting
- 26:53Speaker 2: from a Friday the thirteenth film. I don't understand. Maybe
- 26:55Speaker 2: he's just overly critical, but I think as a whole.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I don't think it's a bad movie, which I don't know.
- 27:01Speaker 2: It just seems like to such an extreme you'd want
- 27:03Speaker 2: to have your name taken off.
- 27:05Speaker 3: I don't think this is a bad movie at all.
- 27:08Speaker 3: I can and honestly in the movie, I can't really
- 27:12Speaker 3: and never have I in the Oh my god, it's
- 27:15Speaker 3: been almost twenty years since this movie's come out. I've
- 27:18Speaker 3: never had a thought of like this seems like a mess.
- 27:21Speaker 3: I've never thought that.
- 27:23Speaker 2: No.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Pretty it's cohesive for the most part. But I think
- 27:27Speaker 3: when you're dealing with a franchise like Friday the Thirteenth,
- 27:30Speaker 3: you're gonna have a lot of people that are trying
- 27:32Speaker 3: to make sure it's the way that they want it
- 27:37Speaker 3: to be. Between Victor Miller and Sean Cunningham, and I
- 27:40Speaker 3: don't know where the rights were at this time with them,
- 27:42Speaker 3: I don't know. I know one owns, one owned rights
- 27:46Speaker 3: to the name, one owned rights to the character, one,
- 27:48Speaker 3: this one that, and I don't know what that was like.
- 27:51Speaker 3: That was probably hell to go through. But also twas
- 27:56Speaker 3: a nine, they had just come out of the writers strike,
- 27:59Speaker 3: so the Hollywood in general was sort of in a
- 28:02Speaker 3: bit of shambles at this point.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Well, and I recall him mentioning that they weren't able
- 28:07Speaker 2: to make really any changes to the script, which I
- 28:12Speaker 2: thought was really interesting. Yeah. I think that this film
- 28:18Speaker 2: came out definitely during a very interesting time, you know.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Yeah, and it was. So let's see just some quick
- 28:29Speaker 3: It looks like this was a eight week shoot. So
- 28:34Speaker 3: they shot this from April two and eight to June
- 28:37Speaker 3: two thousand and eight. They shot this in Austin, Texas.
- 28:43Speaker 3: You know Texas. Well, it's okay to shoot there.
- 28:49Speaker 2: I never thought that this film was like film there.
- 28:55Speaker 3: It's and I actually have a note here that I'll
- 28:57Speaker 3: bring up real quick. I'm I'm born and raised in
- 29:00Speaker 3: New Jersey. I only live a couple hours away from
- 29:04Speaker 3: the real camp Brisila and Texas. And there's not a
- 29:10Speaker 3: single movement of this movie that looks like New Jersey.
- 29:14Speaker 3: They it's like, the most New Jersey thing about this
- 29:16Speaker 3: movie is trans license plate. That's it.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Yeah that didn't sell you.
- 29:24Speaker 3: No, it was not sold. There's like, there's multiple shots
- 29:27Speaker 3: in this movie. I'm like, this is fucking Texas. What
- 29:29Speaker 3: are you trying to play off? Like this is not
- 29:33Speaker 3: And I get that most people probably don't feel that way.
- 29:37Speaker 3: But when you're from here, you know what your state
- 29:40Speaker 3: looks like, you know what I mean?
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you got a different connection to it. I mean yeah, yeah,
- 29:44Speaker 2: Austin being a place where they had filmed. I was
- 29:48Speaker 2: very surprised by that. And then it looks like additional
- 29:52Speaker 2: scenes were shot on location at Camp Fern and Marshall, Texas.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I love him talking about I don't even have
- 29:59Speaker 3: a note about. I'm just recalling why they're able to
- 30:03Speaker 3: shoot there, and it's basically because of the tax breaks
- 30:07Speaker 3: for the producers and the production companies and like they
- 30:11Speaker 3: have very lenient union laws at that time, like they
- 30:14Speaker 3: could get away with some ship, which is like I
- 30:17Speaker 3: think Marcus is spelled kind of being like yeah, like
- 30:20Speaker 3: you know they're they're they're fucking cheating the system by
- 30:24Speaker 3: doing this anyway, you know what I mean.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Okay, So this film opens up and we get a
- 30:35Speaker 2: flashback sequence throughout the credits. Did you like this touch
- 30:40Speaker 2: on the movie with how they're basically giving us kind
- 30:43Speaker 2: of like a condensed version of Jason's origin.
- 30:51Speaker 3: I don't need this. It's like it does nothing except
- 30:59Speaker 3: just be like opening title sequence for me.
- 31:04Speaker 2: I would take this over them doing a whole flashback sequence.
- 31:10Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you don't need like, if you're gonna do
- 31:11Speaker 3: one over the other, I don't think you need anything.
- 31:14Speaker 3: I think this movie could have started right where it
- 31:17Speaker 3: starts with, you know, your initial group of teenagers arriving
- 31:22Speaker 3: when they're searching for the weed farm, and nobody would
- 31:26Speaker 3: have questioned anything whatsoever, you know what I mean.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Well, that leads us right into when we get the
- 31:34Speaker 2: group of teens. They definitely seem like they're a little
- 31:37Speaker 2: bit more acclimated to being in the outdoors. They're obviously,
- 31:40Speaker 2: you know, camping while they're out there. On your first watch,
- 31:44Speaker 2: did you think that this was a group of teens
- 31:46Speaker 2: that we were going to be following throughout the entire film,
- 31:48Speaker 2: Oh for sure, same.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Yeah. I actually, I actually really like this. I love
- 31:54Speaker 3: this kind of this you know, Frive thirteenth part to
- 32:01Speaker 3: you know, kind of style, a little bit of Part
- 32:03Speaker 3: three where it's like he's got the pillow I think
- 32:08Speaker 3: Marcus pillow. Yeah yeah, but this time he just like
- 32:11Speaker 3: wrapped a pillow around his head. I think it's really
- 32:15Speaker 3: cool looking. There's also a couple of things in the
- 32:17Speaker 3: scene that I really love, and one of them is
- 32:21Speaker 3: actually a note that was brought up here trying to
- 32:25Speaker 3: see if I had any Yes, So okay, this entire
- 32:28Speaker 3: first Sective film actually had to be reshot oh because
- 32:32Speaker 3: the original actress who played Amanda, who is the girl
- 32:39Speaker 3: who we see flashing and having sex in the tent,
- 32:43Speaker 3: would not do the nudity. So, and according to Marcus Dispelled,
- 32:47Speaker 3: the producer felt that the nudity was incredibly important. Marcus
- 32:51Speaker 3: thought it was a headache.
- 32:52Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not gonna knock that is a par
- 32:54Speaker 2: thirteenth movie.
- 32:56Speaker 3: It is. It is, uh, but like, is it important
- 32:59Speaker 3: enough that you forced your your production crew to recast
- 33:03Speaker 3: and put them five days behind schedule?
- 33:05Speaker 2: Yes, all right, I wouldn't say I wouldn't necessarily say
- 33:10Speaker 2: this for any other film, but it is probably the thirteenth,
- 33:12Speaker 2: And I feel like that and gorm kind of go
- 33:17Speaker 2: hand in hand.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree, but like, I feel like you could
- 33:20Speaker 3: have just added some more somewhere and kept on schedule.
- 33:24Speaker 2: That's just me, though, you know, damn it, Chris.
- 33:30Speaker 3: But one thing that I thought was cool was that
- 33:31Speaker 3: Jason's home air quotes home was actually like a real
- 33:36Speaker 3: abandoned structure that they found in Texas, and they had
- 33:40Speaker 3: essentially put this like giant dangling light structure over it
- 33:44Speaker 3: because most of the roof is already missing, and they
- 33:47Speaker 3: kind of constructed like individual silos that go over each room.
- 33:51Speaker 3: That way, all the rooms would kind of be lit
- 33:53Speaker 3: a little bit independently. I just thought that was really
- 33:56Speaker 3: cool that, like, this is a real physical place that
- 33:58Speaker 3: they were She's creepy. It is. Yeah, it's very creepy
- 34:05Speaker 3: this opening scene. Do you like this new Jason?
- 34:15Speaker 2: I like it for the context of this movie. I
- 34:19Speaker 2: don't know if I necessarily would want this betrayal, you know,
- 34:25Speaker 2: for any other Friday the thirteenth going forward, or I mean,
- 34:28Speaker 2: even if they did opt to let's just hypothetically say
- 34:31Speaker 2: they ended up doing a sequel a couple of years later,
- 34:34Speaker 2: whatever the case is. I could rock with it for
- 34:37Speaker 2: what it is, but I don't think I want that.
- 34:39Speaker 2: I would not want this to be the definitive portrayal
- 34:42Speaker 2: of Jason going forward. It's unique. I mean, I think
- 34:47Speaker 2: the survivalist element to his character, and you know, basically
- 34:51Speaker 2: how he has all the tunnels underneath the camp. It
- 34:54Speaker 2: works within the context of the movie. But I think
- 34:58Speaker 2: that there's a part of me that will always appre
- 35:00Speaker 2: shape just how he's you know, a silent killer. He's
- 35:02Speaker 2: able to somehow get around the camp effortlessly and stock
- 35:07Speaker 2: each one of the counselors or you know teams that
- 35:10Speaker 2: are you know, camping out there.
- 35:13Speaker 3: I actually think this Jason is my favorite part of
- 35:18Speaker 3: this movie. It's him.
- 35:20Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's scary.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Like, yeah, well that's the thing, is like to me,
- 35:25Speaker 3: if you're going to bring back Jason Voorhies, you have
- 35:29Speaker 3: to like no longer in two thousand and nine. It
- 35:33Speaker 3: is like a large lumbering man really all that scary.
- 35:36Speaker 3: And I'm not saying that that Jason necessarily has to
- 35:39Speaker 3: be more scary, but it is pretty terrifying. To then
- 35:44Speaker 3: make him agile, make him physically more imposing, meaning through movement,
- 35:52Speaker 3: not necessarily body structure, make him a hunter where he
- 35:57Speaker 3: kind of has this, like you said, vivalist structure where
- 36:03Speaker 3: he is able to put a man in a sleeping bag,
- 36:06Speaker 3: hangar over the fire, which then gets you know, which
- 36:10Speaker 3: then makes another character run over and they step into
- 36:13Speaker 3: a bear trap. And like it's all very very thought out,
- 36:20Speaker 3: Oh it is.
- 36:21Speaker 2: And even the spell mentions in the commentary he's talking
- 36:24Speaker 2: about how and he knew this going into it, how
- 36:27Speaker 2: the kills had to be very inventive, right, innovative, you know,
- 36:32Speaker 2: with with how they're doing them, and and I mean
- 36:34Speaker 2: you see this on full display here in the opening scene.
- 36:39Speaker 2: You know, like you mentioned, you get the bear trap,
- 36:41Speaker 2: you get the you know, the sleeping bag. You know,
- 36:45Speaker 2: I think it's kind of on on brand for Jason,
- 36:50Speaker 2: but you get the I think it's a machete through
- 36:53Speaker 2: the guy's head.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Like the Dawn the Dead trick.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean it's get everything that you want
- 37:02Speaker 2: out of it, and his Derek Muir's portrayal of Jason
- 37:06Speaker 2: is terrifying. I mean, he's just effortlessly like hutting through
- 37:11Speaker 2: all these teenagers, and I just love that it subverts
- 37:16Speaker 2: expectations with you think that this is a group that
- 37:19Speaker 2: you're gonna be following the entire movie and cut away
- 37:24Speaker 2: and then it just leads us in a completely different
- 37:27Speaker 2: direction after you know, the the title comes up.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Do you are you a fan of Does
- 37:37Speaker 3: it take you out of the movie to see somebody
- 37:40Speaker 3: an actor the caliber of like a Jared Pedaluchy in it?
- 37:46Speaker 2: I don't think so. For this film. Maybe it would
- 37:51Speaker 2: be different if I had followed him through Supernatural. I
- 37:54Speaker 2: never watched a show like that, so I didn't have
- 37:56Speaker 2: that type of connection. But it depends on the movie.
- 38:01Speaker 2: I feel like for this, I don't really I've seen
- 38:04Speaker 2: it a number of times now where I don't really
- 38:05Speaker 2: give it too much thought. It works, you know, for
- 38:11Speaker 2: I think his his character is pretty on brand for
- 38:15Speaker 2: following up obviously the events of like the intro. But
- 38:20Speaker 2: I thought that was interesting that just how they really
- 38:24Speaker 2: had to kind of change the dynamic of his height
- 38:28Speaker 2: given how big and tall he is. I mean, he's
- 38:30Speaker 2: almost the equivalent of Derek Meer's portrayal Jason.
- 38:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, Jared Pedalucky's very tall.
- 38:37Speaker 2: I had no clue.
- 38:38Speaker 3: I like it very tall. Yeah, he I've watched my
- 38:44Speaker 3: wife her favorite show is Supernatural, her favorite show of
- 38:46Speaker 3: all time, so I've watched amost all of it to
- 38:49Speaker 3: this point, and it is kind of like, maybe it's
- 38:54Speaker 3: because of that experience Supernatural where I'm like, oh, Jared
- 38:58Speaker 3: petal Uckey. I also think though, that this this little
- 39:03Speaker 3: subplot with him is a little bit of like a
- 39:09Speaker 3: dampen in the movie's energy, because I do think maybe
- 39:14Speaker 3: more so the killer cut because of the additional nine minutes.
- 39:18Speaker 3: I do think this point to me, it really drags.
- 39:21Speaker 3: You have, like you have the opening flashback scene, which
- 39:24Speaker 3: is cool. Then you have this opening scene with the
- 39:28Speaker 3: teenagers that are going to get killed minus the sister
- 39:31Speaker 3: who we find out is going to be captured, and
- 39:34Speaker 3: it's very energetic, and then you kind of have like
- 39:35Speaker 3: this down again. And this is kind of where I
- 39:40Speaker 3: always find a little bit of a lull for me.
- 39:43Speaker 3: It kind of start getting a little distracted, and then
- 39:48Speaker 3: like once after like the lake kill, oh, the wakeboarding, Yeah,
- 39:53Speaker 3: I kind of get back into it. One thing that
- 39:58Speaker 3: Marcus talks about here is all right, I'm gonna be I.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I was watching this movie and before he says this
- 40:11Speaker 3: this note that I'm about to say, I actually said
- 40:15Speaker 3: to myself, Wow, this movie would look so good if
- 40:20Speaker 3: Daniel Pearl shot it, because I hate the way this
- 40:25Speaker 3: movie looks. And then he talks about how Daniel Pearl
- 40:30Speaker 3: returned to photograph this movie, and I was like, fuck,
- 40:33Speaker 3: I what.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Didn't you care for about it?
- 40:38Speaker 3: There's like a there's like Texas Chainsaw three has a
- 40:43Speaker 3: visual language. It has a very particular look. This movie,
- 40:49Speaker 3: doesn't it just sort of drab. Like there's a moment
- 40:56Speaker 3: after the flashback in the very beginning where we go
- 41:00Speaker 3: from the black and white footage to the flashback to
- 41:02Speaker 3: a color footage that's overlooking like the like the swamp,
- 41:06Speaker 3: the waters, and you kind of have some of the
- 41:09Speaker 3: greens that come back of the greenery, and it doesn't
- 41:11Speaker 3: even really change all that much. Like the color palette
- 41:14Speaker 3: from the black and white to this isn't really the
- 41:16Speaker 3: most Like it doesn't bring back a whole lot of saturation.
- 41:23Speaker 3: And there's just not a lot in this movie that
- 41:27Speaker 3: feels like there's moments in Texas Chains all O three
- 41:31Speaker 3: that visually I can recall back to that I really enjoy.
- 41:36Speaker 3: There's there's a style to it, right, thirty two thousand
- 41:39Speaker 3: and nine feels like it doesn't have a style. It
- 41:43Speaker 3: just sort of looks, at least to me, it looks
- 41:46Speaker 3: kind of uninspired.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Yeah, there's like certain moments that I kind of going
- 41:51Speaker 2: back to what we were talking about, like certain moments
- 41:53Speaker 2: that stand out a little bit more than others. You
- 41:57Speaker 2: get like the moment like we were talking about, like
- 41:59Speaker 2: the Wakebourne scene. There's like certain elements of that that
- 42:02Speaker 2: I feel like, you know, it looks stunning, you know,
- 42:05Speaker 2: when he's standing off on the shore and just kind of,
- 42:11Speaker 2: you know, lurking from a distance. I think there's aspects
- 42:15Speaker 2: about that that that connect for me. But I can
- 42:17Speaker 2: certainly understand that. I definitely feel like that. There's other
- 42:19Speaker 2: moments where I'm like, I think it looks it looks nice,
- 42:24Speaker 2: but it doesn't have a very distinct style. And one
- 42:28Speaker 2: thing that we overlooked earlier, not to backtrack, but the
- 42:32Speaker 2: placement of a night Ranger's sister Christian the best use
- 42:39Speaker 2: of music and probably any of these horror remakes by far.
- 42:44Speaker 2: I love that song and the fact that it basically
- 42:48Speaker 2: like anytime I hear it, I have this association with
- 42:51Speaker 2: this film as a result of it, but it feels
- 42:53Speaker 2: very like on point for kind of like a callback
- 42:57Speaker 2: for you know, back in the eighties.
- 43:00Speaker 3: This is what the friend's listening to when he goes
- 43:02Speaker 3: to take a piece, right and finally, yeah, yeah, okay,
- 43:04Speaker 3: I just want to make sure I never knew the
- 43:05Speaker 3: title of that song. Oh it's so good, uh yeah,
- 43:11Speaker 3: very good Needle Drop. I actually love there. There are
- 43:13Speaker 3: some things in that opening scene that I like, I
- 43:16Speaker 3: do love the giant silhouette shadow m HM of Jason
- 43:21Speaker 3: right before he rips into the tent.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Oh, it's so scary.
- 43:25Speaker 3: I also think that.
- 43:26Speaker 2: The not going camping anytime soon watching this.
- 43:29Speaker 3: I'm good there there's a couple. It's actually funny. I
- 43:33Speaker 3: was just thinking about how how Marcus the Spell does
- 43:36Speaker 3: kind of have some some consistence that he does. There's
- 43:40Speaker 3: a moment in text Chainsaw three after the hitchhiker kills
- 43:43Speaker 3: herself where there's a close up of her mouth and
- 43:47Speaker 3: the smoke from the gun is kind of like, you know,
- 43:50Speaker 3: coming out of her mouth. And then there's a moment
- 43:52Speaker 3: when Amanda falls out of the sleeping bag where she
- 43:55Speaker 3: hits the ground and the camera lingers on her and
- 43:58Speaker 3: the smoke comes out of her mouth. The bear trapding
- 44:03Speaker 3: shredding his leg.
- 44:05Speaker 2: I remember seeing that in theater and it just made
- 44:07Speaker 2: me so uncomfortable sit there my seat.
- 44:11Speaker 3: For me, it's more so the thought of being burned alive,
- 44:14Speaker 3: which I her upside down in a sleeping bag, just
- 44:19Speaker 3: being cooked is so scary. That image is so scary.
- 44:24Speaker 3: When he comes around the corner, you just see the
- 44:26Speaker 3: sleeping bag hanging, and it's a good it's a good uh,
- 44:31Speaker 3: like subversion from the traditional sleeping bag kill where Jason
- 44:36Speaker 3: just slams them against a tree or another person in
- 44:40Speaker 3: a sleeping.
- 44:41Speaker 2: And that's where I have to at least give him
- 44:45Speaker 2: his roses because there's certain aspects. Sure it's not it's
- 44:49Speaker 2: not a perfect film, but for Friday the thirteenth movie,
- 44:53Speaker 2: if we're the twelfth entry in and we're and we're
- 44:56Speaker 2: trying to give it more of a fresh take, I
- 44:59Speaker 2: feel like that the certain moments definitely work to its advantage.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you think do you subscribe to the
- 45:07Speaker 3: Trent theory that he is the same character from Transformers.
- 45:14Speaker 3: I'm talking about Travis van Winkle here as a trend.
- 45:16Speaker 2: I know, to the audience, I was, I thought that you.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Naspell also made the comment about him that he felt
- 45:25Speaker 2: like he was the real villain of the movie or
- 45:29Speaker 2: something along those lines, and I was like, Yeah, I
- 45:31Speaker 2: think he's just well off. He comes from a family
- 45:36Speaker 2: that's really wealthy. I don't know.
- 45:38Speaker 3: I mean, I think he was saying I could take it.
- 45:41Speaker 3: He was saying that Jason is an anti hero. Is
- 45:44Speaker 3: an anti hero. So the true villains of these movies
- 45:47Speaker 3: are the the members of the friend group. That that
- 45:51Speaker 3: don't listen.
- 45:53Speaker 2: And they don't belong thereholes.
- 45:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean Trent's an asshole. He's the same character
- 45:59Speaker 3: that he was in Transformers. Like he's a rich, cocky
- 46:04Speaker 3: douchebag and you know, driving in his escalade and showing
- 46:10Speaker 3: up to the house and I love him like kicking
- 46:12Speaker 3: their like their feet are on the table, to get
- 46:15Speaker 3: your feet off the table. And he's like constantly kind
- 46:17Speaker 3: of watching what they're doing so that way they don't
- 46:19Speaker 3: ruin anything.
- 46:20Speaker 2: He's just in its, yeah he is, but he's just
- 46:23Speaker 2: in it to bring all his friends there to admire
- 46:26Speaker 2: everything that he has from a distance. I feel like
- 46:30Speaker 2: he's like very like I don't know, he just seems
- 46:34Speaker 2: like very uptight about everything. It's like, look, if you're
- 46:36Speaker 2: having a group of friends there, you know they're guests there, right,
- 46:40Speaker 2: I mean yeah, you should kind of know what you
- 46:43Speaker 2: get yourself into with that group of friends.
- 46:45Speaker 3: But this friend group doesn't feel as believable as the
- 46:50Speaker 3: first friend group.
- 46:53Speaker 2: I could see that.
- 46:55Speaker 3: It's a little bit of a like a weird like
- 46:58Speaker 3: I found myself kind of being like, how are you
- 47:01Speaker 3: all friends?
- 47:02Speaker 2: It doesn't feel believable, Yeah, because.
- 47:05Speaker 3: You have you kind of have like you know, you
- 47:09Speaker 3: have you have Trent. You have Chewy who Chewy is
- 47:13Speaker 3: a stoner basically like he pulls out one of the
- 47:17Speaker 3: wildest looking bombs I've ever seen. There's there's Lawrence, who
- 47:24Speaker 3: is the token black guy that wants to start a
- 47:27Speaker 3: rap label.
- 47:29Speaker 2: They're both really funny. I have to say, there's certain
- 47:31Speaker 2: moments that are even on rewatch, I still think that
- 47:34Speaker 2: they're they're like friendship. That dynamic they have with each
- 47:37Speaker 2: other really works.
- 47:39Speaker 3: No, yeah, they are very funny. And then of course
- 47:41Speaker 3: you have Daniel Panabaker who plays Jenna that is Trent's
- 47:47Speaker 3: I guess girlfriend in the movie. That's right, Yeah, And uh,
- 47:54Speaker 3: you know one thing that that is terribly distracting about
- 47:57Speaker 3: this movie the fact that everybody is so attracted, Like
- 48:03Speaker 3: everybody in this movie is stupid attractive outside of Aaron Yo,
- 48:08Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
- 48:08Speaker 2: But from Dysturbia, it definitely has that feel like you
- 48:13Speaker 2: just kind of we're picking and choosing out of like
- 48:16Speaker 2: an Abercrombie and Fitch modeling gig or something. It's like,
- 48:21Speaker 2: you know, I'm just saying because of the time this
- 48:24Speaker 2: was filmed, but.
- 48:25Speaker 3: This is I couldn't help but notice like this is
- 48:27Speaker 3: that era of guys with longer hair that's like slightly teased,
- 48:32Speaker 3: and everybody was wearing like the same style clothing. Oh yeah,
- 48:38Speaker 3: it's interesting. It's like a time capsule of that. In
- 48:40Speaker 3: JA nine, I was a senior in high school, so
- 48:43Speaker 3: I didn't dress like this, but I knew people who did.
- 48:47Speaker 2: But you would see it. You see it a little
- 48:48Speaker 2: bit with the Texas chainsaw as well. Like, there's certain
- 48:52Speaker 2: style choices in that that I feel like are very
- 48:55Speaker 2: much of the time.
- 48:57Speaker 3: Don't you dare? Well, that movie was supposed to take
- 48:59Speaker 3: place into seven. Don't you dare make fun of Jessica
- 49:03Speaker 3: Biel's tight tank top.
- 49:05Speaker 2: The tank top? Okay, so she rocked it.
- 49:09Speaker 3: She did, she did. She did kill that shit and
- 49:11Speaker 3: she was pregnant, not her, the character was pregnant. Oh
- 49:14Speaker 3: they cut that out. Uh yeah. So this this friend
- 49:20Speaker 3: dynamic kind of throws me off a little bit. It's
- 49:24Speaker 3: kind of, you know, just not as believable. And also
- 49:28Speaker 3: just like Trent is such a piece of shit he said,
- 49:33Speaker 3: you know, because Jared Pattle, Like, I think it's why
- 49:35Speaker 3: character Clay Clay's going around putting up missing signs for
- 49:39Speaker 3: his sister. Right. This is multiple times now he's started
- 49:42Speaker 3: coming to this town. He swears she's here. He's trying
- 49:46Speaker 3: to the police don't want him there. We see that
- 49:49Speaker 3: early on in the movie. Adults are like, hey, give up,
- 49:52Speaker 3: she's dead. You know. The only other character from the
- 49:57Speaker 3: town we meet is a fucking wackadoo, like living in a.
- 50:03Speaker 2: H He's he's definitely, he's definitely went the highlights.
- 50:14Speaker 3: He's from New Jersey. I think that that I believe
- 50:16Speaker 3: is from New Jersey.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Like his personality, it's fucking weirdo, just like a weird
- 50:23Speaker 2: you know, like like I've run into that guy at
- 50:25Speaker 2: Walmart twenty five times in my life. That's the way
- 50:29Speaker 2: he does behind closed door is not my business.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Mannequin's man's manneque. He's in a mannequin.
- 50:34Speaker 2: He has a mannequin fetish.
- 50:36Speaker 3: He does have a mannequin fetish.
- 50:38Speaker 2: It's a little weird.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Uh yeah, so yeah, you know, I I love that.
- 50:49Speaker 3: There's a couple of little notes here talk about how
- 50:53Speaker 3: when when Clay goes to that house that the older
- 50:56Speaker 3: lady lives in that he speaks with, they didn't have
- 50:59Speaker 3: to do any set dressing. That's what the house looks
- 51:01Speaker 3: like they just shot it that way. It's just like
- 51:05Speaker 3: just absolute clutter fuck of a house.
- 51:08Speaker 2: That's the one where the dog starts parking at him right,
- 51:11Speaker 2: lunches at him.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Yeah, what do you what do you think just having fun? Now?
- 51:21Speaker 3: What do you think of Jason finding his mask in
- 51:25Speaker 3: this one? Just randomly like moving over a piece of
- 51:29Speaker 3: cloth and the mask is there and he puts it
- 51:31Speaker 3: on after the pillow gets ripped off his head by
- 51:33Speaker 3: the fucking New Jersey weirdo.
- 51:36Speaker 2: One word convenient.
- 51:38Speaker 3: It's so dude, it's so strange. It's such a odd
- 51:42Speaker 3: way for him to find the man.
- 51:43Speaker 2: It's like a mic drop moment, it is.
- 51:47Speaker 3: And I rewounded a couple of times, like how do
- 51:49Speaker 3: you even see that? How do you see that?
- 51:51Speaker 5: In there?
- 51:52Speaker 3: He looks down, his pillow, head is off, and then
- 51:56Speaker 3: he goes down and shifts some sheets and then there's
- 52:01Speaker 3: the mask.
- 52:02Speaker 2: He could feel. He could feel it. He doesn't need
- 52:05Speaker 2: to see it, he could feel it.
- 52:06Speaker 3: It's like Jim Carrey's the mask. It becomes like suctions
- 52:10Speaker 3: to the face.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they're like they have like a like a symbiotic relationship.
- 52:15Speaker 2: I see.
- 52:16Speaker 3: The mask is is its own thing. Mm hmm. Jason
- 52:20Speaker 3: is separate from the mask but together.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Correct, That's where he gets like his hunting abilities. He's
- 52:29Speaker 2: extra fast in this movie, really strong.
- 52:32Speaker 3: It's like when Mario gets a mushroom exactly.
- 52:36Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't need to say anything else, or you
- 52:41Speaker 2: know what you're talking about. Okay. What I thought was
- 52:45Speaker 2: interesting was Marcus in a spell. He mentions this a
- 52:53Speaker 2: couple of times about let's see it's Close Encounters of
- 52:59Speaker 2: the Third Kind and Apocalypse Now as certain references that
- 53:05Speaker 2: he used for this film, which I thought was like, stylistically,
- 53:08Speaker 2: it was a really interesting choice.
- 53:12Speaker 3: Do you see either of those in this movie?
- 53:14Speaker 2: At any point, I'm going to give him the benefit
- 53:20Speaker 2: of the doubt. He was under a lot of stress
- 53:21Speaker 2: at the time.
- 53:22Speaker 3: He was a dog with many leashes.
- 53:26Speaker 2: Okay, well, hold on. He mentions Close Encounters. There were
- 53:30Speaker 2: certain moments I think he had mentioned that there was
- 53:33Speaker 2: horizontal flares and certain lighting choices. I believe when Jason
- 53:40Speaker 2: is going after Clay and oh my gosh, I'm drawing
- 53:47Speaker 2: a blank on Jenna. When he's going after the two
- 53:54Speaker 2: of them and he's turning all the lights on where
- 53:58Speaker 2: I think the canoes are at right, he said, that
- 54:01Speaker 2: that was I think one of the moments that he
- 54:04Speaker 2: had used as a reference for and then Apocalypse Now
- 54:09Speaker 2: was when we get Lawrence. He gets hit in the
- 54:14Speaker 2: back with the acts and he's screaming out for help.
- 54:18Speaker 2: He's basically like paralyzed and he's basically being used as bait.
- 54:24Speaker 2: There's a moment in Apocalypse Now that is very similar.
- 54:28Speaker 2: I would have never picked picked up on that head.
- 54:30Speaker 2: He not said that, but I'm just thinking to myself, like, wow,
- 54:33Speaker 2: that's really interesting that that's what you're pulling influence from.
- 54:37Speaker 3: It's interesting that he's pulling influence from that. But Jason
- 54:40Speaker 3: literally does the same thing earlier in the movie with
- 54:43Speaker 3: Amanda in the in the mm hmm in the camp bag.
- 54:47Speaker 3: So it's just it's typical like hunting. It's I don't
- 54:51Speaker 3: know what that tech little term is called, and I
- 54:53Speaker 3: know it's illegal to do in most of the United States,
- 54:55Speaker 3: where you would injure like usually if you're a hunt saying,
- 55:02Speaker 3: you know, I think like when they're hunting lions and stuff,
- 55:04Speaker 3: they would injure other animals that they would, you know,
- 55:08Speaker 3: find for food, and then when the animal comes to
- 55:10Speaker 3: eat that animal, they would kill them like beat them.
- 55:14Speaker 2: I thought you were about to mention something that was
- 55:16Speaker 2: going down in New Jersey until you mentioned the animal
- 55:19Speaker 2: that was Uh, we been using this scenario.
- 55:23Speaker 3: We just have bears. That's it.
- 55:25Speaker 2: We just have Okay. I mean, I'm sure you could
- 55:28Speaker 2: swap it out for something else.
- 55:30Speaker 3: The closing encounter's reference is I think I'm pretty sure
- 55:34Speaker 3: the only reason he brings that up is because they
- 55:36Speaker 3: used anamorphic lenses okay to shoot this, which he says,
- 55:43Speaker 3: which he claims they had. Yeah, they haven't used a
- 55:46Speaker 3: lot of since the seventies, he says, But JJ Abrams
- 55:50Speaker 3: certainly in this period of time been using anamorphic.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Lenses to the fullest.
- 55:58Speaker 3: I don't think they were good. I don't think they
- 55:59Speaker 3: were at of silent at any point around two as
- 56:01Speaker 3: a nine, I think they were heavily being used in
- 56:03Speaker 3: many cases.
- 56:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what, there's a moment that I've seen
- 56:11Speaker 2: this movie countless times, and when Clay is asking the
- 56:14Speaker 2: store clerk about if he's happened to see his sister
- 56:21Speaker 2: and asked about about like leaving the poster like the
- 56:24Speaker 2: missing posters there, it's like it just I don't know,
- 56:31Speaker 2: it's not that it takes me out of the movie.
- 56:34Speaker 2: I just I just want to get clarity on whose
- 56:40Speaker 2: choices was to include this in the movie.
- 56:43Speaker 3: I say this all the time. I quote this all
- 56:48Speaker 3: the time, and it's the one line of dialogue that
- 56:52Speaker 3: I know from this whole movie. And it's just a
- 56:55Speaker 3: clerk going. You know, I would love to, but you know,
- 56:59Speaker 3: my boss, he's a real fuh.
- 57:05Speaker 2: And it's like it just dead ass. Everyone's like, what.
- 57:11Speaker 3: It reminds me of the is it? Uh? East Bound
- 57:18Speaker 3: and Down clip with the how long You've been with her?
- 57:23Speaker 3: He does the part how long you and he can
- 57:26Speaker 3: do a better nightcap. Yeah, it's the one line of
- 57:29Speaker 3: dialogue that I do all the time from this movie.
- 57:32Speaker 2: It's hilarious.
- 57:33Speaker 3: It's so good. Uh, it's not serious at all. But no,
- 57:38Speaker 3: So I'm gonna be completely honest from this point forward.
- 57:42Speaker 3: I didn't take a single note.
- 57:48Speaker 2: Well, I guess, I mean we can kind of run
- 57:50Speaker 2: through just in general. I mean, we we've get the
- 57:54Speaker 2: wakeboard and scene. Uh, you know, Chelsea gets killed with
- 57:59Speaker 2: the machete through the doc.
- 58:00Speaker 3: What do you think of that? That kill?
- 58:05Speaker 2: I appreciate it.
- 58:06Speaker 3: You like the dunk of her head hitting the top.
- 58:10Speaker 2: I was gonna say something else, but you know, Nolan
- 58:15Speaker 2: gets hit with the arrow. I mean, it definitely feels
- 58:18Speaker 2: very camp esque when this is happening.
- 58:20Speaker 3: I don't like the arrow kill. I don't like that.
- 58:24Speaker 3: It feels like almost two detached for Jason to take
- 58:29Speaker 3: somebody out that way, you know what I mean.
- 58:32Speaker 2: It's like just too like as in that he wouldn't
- 58:36Speaker 2: kill anyone with an arrow.
- 58:38Speaker 3: I feel like the best way to do it, if
- 58:41Speaker 3: they wanted to remain very true, would have been to
- 58:45Speaker 3: injure him with the arrow. Ah, okay, to bait him,
- 58:49Speaker 3: to get him back to land, and then kill him,
- 58:52Speaker 3: not to kill him with the arrow.
- 58:54Speaker 2: It does seem like during that specific moment, it does
- 58:58Speaker 2: seem a little like it takes me out a little
- 59:03Speaker 2: bit when they happens.
- 59:04Speaker 3: Yeah, And I don't know why. It's weird. It reminds
- 59:06Speaker 3: me of wrong Turn always when Okay, his name gets killed,
- 59:11Speaker 3: but the arrows Yeah, and it's odd. I think her
- 59:15Speaker 3: kill is good, you know, under the deck the machee
- 59:18Speaker 3: comes through stalking her. Yeah, I think that's fine. But
- 59:22Speaker 3: the erow one I was never really all that enthused about.
- 59:27Speaker 2: Okay, So we get Clay and Jenna they're searching Crystal Lake,
- 59:34Speaker 2: like the campgrounds. Eventually they end up seeing Jason bring
- 59:38Speaker 2: in a body to the camp house at that point,
- 59:43Speaker 2: and then this brings both of them running back to
- 59:47Speaker 2: the cabin. This is obviously been hours later, right, and
- 59:52Speaker 2: they're basically going in there frantically trying to explain to
- 59:55Speaker 2: everyone else that Jason's out there. And this is when
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: I feel like you start getting more of the tension, Yeah,
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: because it's already really like it's already been established very
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: uncomfortable between Trent and Clay, and now at this point
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: they basically have to come together, like trying at one
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: point is basically trying to kick him out.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but also too, I mean, how would you feel
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: if if if you're you know, at the at your
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: apartment or your family's home with your girlfriend and then
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: all of a sudden she goes off with Jared Pedalak
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: that's fair, you know, I would be pretty upset too.
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: I mean the circumstances are a little rough. He's looking
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: for his sister, but like, fuck man, I would be
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: some type of way.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: But what does he say? You guys are gone for
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: hours fucking all over the lake or something. It's like,
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: all right, take it easy, man, take it easy.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Excellent dialogue, but you also have to remember too, this
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: is like an hour and ten minutes into the movie.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: This, I feel like, is where it starts ramping up,
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: Like it it starts getting more like it's not just
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: the isolated scene where they're out on the boat. This
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: I feel like, you're I mean, they're trapped, right, so
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: until any of them start yes, yep, so until any
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: of them start venturing outside of the house. I mean
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: that's basically what should be their safe space power goes
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: out they start venturing out.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: And this bill mentions that a couple of times that
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: the real genius of these slasher films are the breakup
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: of the group. You know, what are the what are
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: the creative beats that you can come up with the
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: get characters to separate and to go their own way,
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: such as you know, Chewy going into the shed outside
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: of the garage, which gets him alone to kill him,
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: and then Lawrence comes out to.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: You one after another.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Yeah, like then he gets killed and then he set
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: up his bait essentially, like you need to think of
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: the ways to get them out, and then Trent is
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: inside just banging away.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: To his defense. Do you think it was because he
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: was just on edge? You know, Jason could be out there.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: I mean, isn't that naturally the first response that anybody
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: would have.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Jason is watching through the window. Yes, he's looking at her.
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: At that point, I won't even give a shit. It's like,
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: as long as it keeps Matt Bay, Yeah.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: He's for good. As long as we keep going, Jason
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: will stay right there. We're good. He'll wait.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: But the moment you stop, yeah he's done.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: He's coming for you. Yeah, he's coming for you. Yeah.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: Like yes, the trend that the tension ramps up here.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: For me, honestly, most of this kind of just becomes
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: a little bit forgettable for me.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: What did you Okay? Hold on, because there's one scene
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: where the police get called and the police officer arrives,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: he knocks on the or did that help or hurt
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: the film? Because when let the police know, like by
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: this point and me, it's been years obviously, but they
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: know Jason's out there, So why are they going out there?
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: Yeah? I don't really know. I mean I think this
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: is kind of meant to be like a moment of levity, like, oh,
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: they might be getting help, but I don't. I don't.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: What do you think of it?
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: I don't know. I this is like the only kill
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: that kind of I could take it or leave it.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: I don't know if this really enhanced anything about the
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: pacing of the the movie at all. I mean, I
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: feel like you could honestly take it out and it
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: wouldn't really make a bit of difference. But I get
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: what you're saying, give some false hope it does.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: Yeah, but we know how it could. But like, at
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: the same time, in twenty nine, is anybody doing anything
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: differ from what Slashers that were, Like, Oh, they're about
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: this avert the genre. There's just no it's just you know,
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: we knew. I knew off the Rippy's gonna die, you
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: We get him killed, and then oh, the scene where
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Jason sneaks in, Trent and Bree have just gotten done
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: hooking up, and then she thinks she sees Jason subverts
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: our expectations. He's actually I believe, behind her right, and
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: then he just kind of like wraps himself around her.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: It's it's fucking creepy.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: Like, yeah, yeah, I agree, that's I always thought that
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: was cool. I think. I think the problem with all
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: of this is like there's so much silly stuff happening
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: with Trent. That's like I think, I don't.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Know, I'm trying to think of. I'm guessing you're talking
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: or you're thinking of the same moment that I'm thinking of,
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: and I could be wrong. There's a certain scene that
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: kind of takes me out of it a little bit.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: Is it the stupendous hits?
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: No?
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: No, that's memorable, man, I'm still talking about that.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: The scene where he's in the car and I think
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: Brie just gets launched on the vehicle and he lets
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: out this high pitched scream, and I'm like, I don't
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: know if this helps or hurts like him, I guess
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: at this point doesn't fucking matter.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: But I forgot about that because I had watched it
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: with the commentary, so like, I didn't hear the scream,
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: and I forgot that he lets out that that crazy
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: high pitched.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: You just high pitch. My guy has no business scream
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: that high. I mean, it's but again, it kind of
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: harkens back to what you're talking about. There there are
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: moments or funny moments, but I think that there's quite
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: a bit of it sprinkled in that I feel like
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: it kind of breaks up the tension almost a little
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: bit too much with stakes that are at hand here.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, this isn't a long movie. You're talking
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: about ninety seven minutes for the theatrical cut, so it's
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: not like this movie. It is brisk, but it doesn't
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: feel brisk because you have like these ups and downs,
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: these moments where it's like it's really tense, it's really scary,
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: and then it's kind of silly and goofy, and it's
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: really tense, it's really scary, and then it kind of
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: like silly and goofy. Then you kind of have that
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: whole like, like I said, when you have that opening
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: scene where you have this very tense like five teenagers
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: being killed off or four of them being killed off
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: in like rapid succession, it's really intense. And then you
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: cut back down to you know, Clay looking for his
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: sister and kind of meandering around and establishing another group
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: of people. It does almost feel like too much. It's like,
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: all right, now I got to forget about that last
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: group of people, and now I got to think about
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: this new group of people. Which the new group people
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: is not as interesting as the first group of people.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: It's almost like you could kind of switch them around.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: Probably, yeah, honestly, probably, And then he would have had
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: her looking for Jared pedal Uchi and he would have
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: kept Jason, would have kept Jared pedal Leckey because he
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: looks like his mom.
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Oh totally.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: Well. He this spell talks about the tunnel. So he
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: mentions how and I don't this feels a little tell
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: me how you feel about this. He talks about how
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: they they thought like maybe this was an old mining town,
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: so there was under what there was underground tunnels already,
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: and that's how utilized. And he talks about like disney World,
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: how he direct comparisons disney World, and how he's like, well,
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Disney World, you know, Walt Disney built all these tunnels
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: so that way Mickey Mouse could pop up on two
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: different sides of the park only minutes after disappearing from
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: another side of the park. And I think that's just
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: a crappy excuse for like we need to have Jason
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: beyonderground and be able to reach places quicker.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: I don't. I don't mind the concept, but if it's
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: being pitchedes it's an old mining town. I'm like, less
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: is more. I don't really know if I need. I
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: don't need the backstory of how these tunnels came about.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: It works for what it is. It's where he gets
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: around and he holds Clay's sister hostage down there basically
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: is now. Let me ask you, though, is this aspect
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: about this film? Does that work for you? That he's
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: essentially holding Clay's sister.
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: It's different And I mean it's not like he talks
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: about some of the criticism that people have had where
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: they're like, oh, he doesn't do that, and he and
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: Marcus spell mentions how like at this point, like we
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: thought we could do something new, Like we thought we
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: could add a character trait to him, you know after
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: all this time that would kind of mix things up.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: And him hearing me hearing him say that, I think, like, yeah,
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: you're right, like at this point we can try something
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: new with Jason. It still just doesn't add anything to
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: the movie except for the fact that the sister is
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: still alive.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: I don't mind it, like.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: That's I guess it's kind of where I'm at it
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: Like it doesn't impact it either way. For me, it
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: just sort of is what it is.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: It's okay.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: I think I think it kind of allows there to
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: be like some sort of glue between the intro scene
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: that we get with the other group of teens, and
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: it definitely he leads us to believe that his sister
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: died and then you get this reveal at least on
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: first watch, to find out that she's still alive. I
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: thought was definitely an important moment.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. What do you think about the end the
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: dispatch of Jason? Hmm?
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: I mean it falls pretty in line I think with
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: any of the other Friday the Thirteenth films, right, I
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: mean it's it's not like it's you know, you had
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: the one scene in part three where he's basically hung,
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: you know, at the barn, trying to think Part two.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: I know that Amy Steele Jinny, she dresses up as Pamela.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of how they kill them.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: She she hits him with the the machete member in
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: like like this area.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: Oh that's right, okay, Yeah, yeah, I mean it's it's
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: pretty on brand for Friday the thirteenth. Yeah, it's I
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: mean that that culmination of of where they're at. I mean,
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: obviously this was introduced much earlier in the film. You know,
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: it was basically setting us up for this. But once
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: they get inside the barn, you know, they they're basically
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: hooking them up, you know, trying to wrap them up
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: with the chain. It's like dragging him in. I think
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: it is. I mean, that whole the whole barn is
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: full of tools. I mean they you know, Nispell even
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: points it out just I mean, this is kind of
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: like in his element, and Clay is able to essentially
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: overpower him, and then h Whitney is able to event
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: then at that point, you know, deliver the you know,
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: Mommy's waiting for you in hell or you know, It's like, okay,
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: it's not really that far off from anything else that
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: we've gotten before. I don't think we can overlook the
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: fact that, you know, Trent definitely leading up to this.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's a terrible way to go out.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: I don't know if that's the worst kill, but it's
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: it's something.
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I I would you have been shocked? Here you
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: go quick question. Would you have been shocked if at
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: the end of the movie, Jason's mask come off and
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: Roy is under there from a new beginning. The paramedic.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: You're asking if I if that's what I would want,
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: would you.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: Would you have been shocked? Would you have been like oh?
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: Or would you have been like wow?
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: How?
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: What an honorable move for them to bring back Roy
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: from frid thirteenth Part I.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Listen, you know what, if they had the balls to
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: do it, I would have to commend them. But they didn't.
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: What if it was what's his name? Who's the Who's
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: the that goes crazy and kills uh Roy's son?
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: He's also the same guy in Return of the Living Dead?
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Isn't he?
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Is that him?
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: I think? So?
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: What's he plays? Is he suicide or no?
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I'm pretty sure that I swear, double check,
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: fact check.
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: All right, I'm got a fact check right now. Talk
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: about talk about talk about death means.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: Well, it's it's so strange how it's set up, because
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: he's he's out there right, and the truck stops. It's
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: like a basically like a tow truck, truck stops. This
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: ominous guy is just sitting in there. I'm like, okay,
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: so what is this leading us to believe? I didn't
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: I didn't feel anything with this guy, and then Jason
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: runs up on him impales him, and that's that's how
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: that's how he goes.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: Out, by the way, You're right, uh, Mark, Mark Venturini.
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: Did he Victor? Yeah, nineteen eighty sixty passed away?
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: Terrible?
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: He is Victor in five and suicide in the Return
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: of Living Dead. Very nice. Why Dan O'Bannon.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Okay, So Jason obviously, well allegedly at the time dies
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: gets dragged into the machine? Yeah, what what is that?
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: Like?
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: What is that machine technically considered? I was a little
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: confused on that.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: Is it like a tree? Is it something with tree?
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: I didn't think it was a wood chip? Or was it.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: Let's see what let's let's see, let's consult the old. Uh.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: I just know that the way that those chains were
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: just wrapped up around him, I'm like, this guy's fucked, Like, yeah,
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: Jason or no Jason?
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: So he Uh, let's see what is that thing I'm
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: trying to metal chain? I know that she stabs them
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: in the chest with a machete, but what is the
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: machine that starts pulling them in?
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Would you have preferred if his mask came off though,
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: because I know he had mentioned that that was something
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: that they had toyed around with, and I don't know
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: if that really would have added a whole lot. I
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: almost feel like, you don't need to No, I don't
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: need it. And then this takes us to where they're
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: dumping his body into the lake as this tradition, right,
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: and you got Whitney, you got Clay. We think everything's good,
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: and this hearkens back. Is it to part two where
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Jason he jumps through the window? Right? Is it part two?
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: The end of part two?
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Okay, it's just a different right, yeah, yeah, So obviously
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: you know Jason's not dead. But what I thought was
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: interesting this actually was asked about recently, it looks like
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: in February of this year, and about the canceled sequel
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: that never happened. But they confirmed that Whitney was killed
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: by Jason, and that if there was a sequel that
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: had been done after this one, her body would have
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: been frozen in Crystal Lake during the opening sequence, which
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: I thought was like, so interesting, this.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: Is give me like Freddy versus Jason vibes. I think
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: it would have been great if the sequel started with
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: Jason coming out of the water on a very foggy morning,
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: carrying her head and then she winked at the camera.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: I don't know if it would have had the same impact.
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: At that point in the night man, It's okay.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Now, let me ask you, if you had gotten the
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: same creative team back at it again, would you have
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: wanted to see a sequel to this one? Because I
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: feel like this was a missed opportunity. I kind of
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: wish we would have gotten a thirteenth film. Sure, yeah,
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: from the same team.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I would have been I would have been fine
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: for that, I think. I mean, I think Friday thirteenth
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: is pretty much an open like. It stuns me that
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: we still haven't had a movie since then. Obviously, now
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: we have came for so late coming out, which I
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: think is a little bit of like not I'm not
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: excited about because I don't really need to know backstory
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: on Missus Warre he I don't really find myself that interesting.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: I just feel like Jason X is a perfect example
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: of the levels that you can go to with Jason
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: that still make it enjoyable. It doesn't mean it's a
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: great movie, but it's still very enjoyable where you could
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: just take, and they even did this with There were
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: numerous novels, like original novels written by Friday thirteenth. One
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: of my favorites was Church of the Divine Psychopath, which
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: was a novel written where a church group goes to
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: Camp Crystal Lake on an excursion and Michael, through prayer,
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: is raised from the dead, and I believe it's like
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: they're praying and then the cross gets struck by lightning,
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: which then hits Jason and he begins killing off the
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: church goers. But then at the same time they introduced
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: that the church goers they called the police and a
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: swat team has arrived, and now the swat team is
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: like up for grabs by Jason, and it's like you
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: could take any template and put it on and make
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: Jason fit. As long as you're killing people and you're
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: having fun, you know what I mean. I would have
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: been down for another movie.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: Okay, so this was back earlier. I know I mentioned
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: this earlier. So this is back earlier this year in
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: February that there was an interview with the writers that
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: had they were Someone was asking about had they penned
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: a sequel a script for a sequel.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: And.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: So this was obviously amidst all the rights issues, so
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: there would have been an extended opening sequence in the
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: winter with a frozen crystal lake that I mentioned, And
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: they were the writers were very happy with the sequel.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: They were bigger kills, they were crazier. Everyone loved it,
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: but it never got made. And they had said that
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: they had called it the Death of Jason Arhees or
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: Camp Blood the Death of Jason Vorhees. They allude to
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: a really awesome zipline kill and the camp becomes reopened,
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: and there was a couple returning characters brought back that
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: they were excited about. When asked about if Clay and Whitney,
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: if it would have picked up with them returning, the
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: writer says, you find out what happens to them at
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: the beginning. I gotta tell you, if you wanted to
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: see them alive, you might be disappointed. And when asked
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: about why winter made the perfect season for a Friday
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: the Thirteenth sequel, in what ways would the snowy setting
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: have basically enhance the kills, they alluded to that the
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: winter season has never been done before in the Friday
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: the Thirteenth franchise was just right. They wanted to see,
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: you know, visible breath coming through the holes in Jason's
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: hockey mask, the red blood drips, and the pristine white snow.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: They alluded to wanting Jason to JABBI long sharp icicle
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: through a camp counsel's eye. Uh.
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: And then.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: Okay, so this that there's a little bit more clarity
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: on what would have happened with Whitney. So the opening,
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: seeing Crystal Lake is frozen salad. Two teens go out
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: and the frozen ice to play hockey. The puck slides
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: and stops right on top of what appears to be
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: a dead girl in the ice. It's Whitney from this
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: one and then the short line they see an imposing
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: figure who looks like he wants to join them, Only
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: he isn't holding a hockey stick. It's a machete. I
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: don't Okay, likes as cool as it sounds, right, I mean,
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: you know, we never actually got the film. It's it's
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: always interesting to think of the what ifs, what could
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: have came out of this, you know?
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I actually think I think I'm happy
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: with you know, have you ever watched Never Hiking the Snow?
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: I haven't.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: Yeah, never hiking the snow and never to hike alone,
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: which is Vincent de Santi's Friday Thirteenth. Kind of like
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: fan films that have kind of fixed like almost feel
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: as well known as the main cannon films. Though, did
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: a lot of fun with the snow stuff. So that's cool.
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: I think snow. That's what I'm excited about Kreeger's Resident Evil,
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: that it's set in the snow. I always love the
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: snow in horror. I think that's why like Thirty Days
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: of Night is so effective, you know, so I like this.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: I would have been down for a sequel.
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: This was from writers Mark Swift and Damian Shannon Ye
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: Jason correct, so Friday the thirteen or Friday the thirteenth
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: reboot Fray versus Jason. They actually also collaborated again for
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: some Help. That was directed by Sam Ray Me.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I did see that. Yeah, I do remember
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: their name on Sendhill interesting hu, Yeah, it's yeah. I
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: would have been fine with a sequel. Man, it sucks
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: it didn't happen. I would love to see a zip
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: line kill.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: I just feel like the the opportunity is just it's waiting, right,
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: and I My closing thoughts are that I worry that
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: whatever next entry we get, I'm cautious, very cautious. I
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: almost wish we would have gotten the thirteenth film a
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: long time ago. Fortunately we didn't get that. But on
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: that note, Aero did a phenomenal job with this. Four
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: K gave this movie a lot of love. As with
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: the other two films Jason X and Jason Goes to
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: Hell Fingers crossed. Maybe we'll got Frey versus Jason in
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: your future.
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I think. I think if you're a fan of
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: this movie, I think all of the commentary tracks on
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: this release are worth getting into. It's very much like
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: the Marcus and Spelled one. Doesn't feel it feels very
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: surface level. It's very like, oh, we did this because
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: it raises tension. He says that nineteen times, I think,
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: or something like twenty times throughout the whole thing. It's
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: still like an interesting track to just hear some fun
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: production nuggets and then the Alexander Hella Nicholas Josh Nelson one.
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: I think it's like the real film gold here, Like
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: that's like the nerd gold. If you have the patience
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: to put this movie on and listen to that track,
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: I think a lot of people are going to learn
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: a lot from that. I'm just happy to have this
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: movie in a in an updated fashion with new bonus features,
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: you know, just very stoked. I think Arrow always crushes it,
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: and I think this was one that, like does didn't
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: feel as talked about as Jason X or Jason gives
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: a hell it was.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: Do you think it's because it's more of a recent entry,
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: more modern? Yeah?
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: Uh yeah, more modern and it's like two thousand and nine.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: How Like, I don't know how much I have to
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: do a side Bysch comparison, like how much the four
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: K really helps it?
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: You know, I just enjoy watching this movie. I'll leave
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: it at that. And it was it coolish Gary. Didn't
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: he do the art for all these.
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: Yeah, to do the artwork, it's all very good.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: Props to him. We need that for Free Versus.
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: Jason, Oh my god, please bring us Ready Versus please.
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: You know. The one thing I have to give credit
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: to Arrow is that we got these in a very
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: short amount of time. I mean, they basically cranked out
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: a lot of the Friday the Thirteenth ones that we got,
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: and then Texas Chainsaw we got the three remake and
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: the prequel. We're so close.
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: I know it feels right there. And if I remember correctly,
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: I think it was something about new like somebody saying
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: just no if I moved. I think it was Cliff
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: Martinez was talking about how they they wanted it, and
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: it was like someone at Newline just said.
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: No name names.
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: I don't know, man, I don't know, some piece of shit.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: Well, on that note, I think we can both agree
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: that true evil never dies.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: It does not. It will come back, just with.
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: A different mask.
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we gotta get Hobdon. If Jason could wear
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: any other mask, what would you want them to wear?
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: Not the one for the Jason universe, that's for sure.
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: I wanted to wear that big baby mask, you know,
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: the big baby crying the crying baby mask.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it works like just in this current iteration. Yeah, speech,
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: If it's not broken, there's no need to fix it, right,
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: That's how I see it.
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: That is true. I completely agree. So yeah, as always,
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: like when we say please don't use this in place
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: of listening to the audio commentary track, take the time
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: to give them a listen. They're phenomenal. They're produced very well.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: The audio quality is very good on them all the tracks,
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: you're at least worth a listen. If maybe you're not
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: getting the most out of it, it's still worth just
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: kind of throwing on. If you're a huge, huge fan
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: of this movie, and make sure you go support Ero Video,
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: pick up a copy of this, pick up a copy

- 1:29:04Speaker 3: Your cabins are warm and toasty. You know, breakfast will

- 1:29:13Speaker 3: don't know if Jason's in these woods are not here
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: in New Jersey.
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: But let's keep the campfire whip.
