- 2:12What's
- 2:12up? Thanks.
- 2:13What's up,
- 2:13Scott? Thanks for having us, man.
- 2:13Scott, man.
- 2:14Thanks for having
- 2:15us, Scott.
- 2:15What
- 2:15an intro, man. What
- 2:16Excellent.
- 2:16an intro.
- 2:17What
- 2:17an intro, we're not that good.
- 2:20I think you are. And you know what?
- 2:22It's my goddamn podcast. So that's all that matters,
- 2:24right? What we're here to do is make sure everybody else understands that
- 2:28by the time we're done today. It's super important.
- 2:31~ you know, we we we do a really wide-ranging conversation,
- 2:35but I always want to start at the beginning,
- 2:37right? ~ you all got together at a young age,
- 2:41right? Like, did music find you guys?
- 2:45Did you did did music find you?
- 2:47Did you find music? And how'd you bring that?
- 2:50you
- 2:50know, that moment of music sparking something you together to to to stick around
- 2:56and and and make music together.
- 2:57Who wants to start?
- 3:01Music, I think for Sam and I, it definitely found us.
- 3:05We grew up playing sports and around that period of 2019,
- 3:102020, when we were finishing up high school,
- 3:12going to college, we realized that there was no future for us playing sports
- 3:16in college. Right around that time,
- 3:19was a banjo. Sam purchased a guitar.
- 3:24We did some shows in his garage with some friends.
- 3:27Everyone came up and sang.
- 3:29That was kind of the start of things and ended up looping Brad into it.
- 3:33He was just singing in his shower all the time and always wanted to be a frontman.
- 3:38So that worked. And then we met Ty,
- 3:40who was already a drummer in a couple different bands up in Boulder where
- 3:44we went to school. And voila,
- 3:48that was the band. We started just like that.
- 3:52So
- 3:53who brought what to the band musically?
- 3:56Cause you guys have a lot of different genres that you've you've made this musical
- 4:00stew, right? Who are some influences from each of you that you kind
- 4:04of brought into your own music style and then as a group decided that
- 4:07was the direction you were gonna go in?
- 4:11Ty.
- 4:12We were
- 4:12just talking about this yesterday.
- 4:13Yeah, we were just talking about this yesterday where it's like,
- 4:15~ it depends on the song. Like I come,
- 4:19I come from a lot like, really rock and roll drumming.
- 4:21you you
- 4:22And like, Dave Grohl and John Bonham and Taylor Hawkins are like
- 4:25FNAF.
- 4:26the reason I started playing drums.
- 4:28And, and we were working on this song right now for the upcoming album.
- 4:35And it's very, it's very stones.
- 4:37It's very like, Rolling Stones kind of
- 4:40that kind of rock and roll vibe.
- 4:42And we were listening to the track yesterday for the first time in a while
- 4:45and the drums are just like, and it just like doesn't fit the song.
- 4:50And we were just sitting in the car listening to it yesterday.
- 4:53were like, yeah, we might need to redo the drums on that and make it
- 4:55a little more like stones instead of like Nirvana.
- 5:01What let me ask you let me ask you this.
- 5:03it's been a while since I've like listened to a rough track in a car.
- 5:07It's been it like you guys still do that?
- 5:10You guys get in the car and you're okay,
- 5:11let's just crank it up and see see what it sounds like when we're sitting
- 5:13Yeah Yeah
- 5:14in the center of it. I think that's awesome.
- 5:17Our tour van, it doesn't have the best sound system,
- 5:21but it's, we know if a song sounds good in the van,
- 5:26then we know it's a good song because it surpasses the bad sound system.
- 5:32So
- 5:32so is there a gonna be a label on the album that says Van Approved?
- 5:36That's a great idea.
- 5:36Haha
- 5:37Yeah, pretty much.
- 5:39Van sound approved. That's that's awesome.
- 5:42~ let's let's talk about Sam.
- 5:45What what were who were some of your influences in in joint you know,
- 5:49coming into music? Who are some pieces of of of of other styles
- 5:54or other other artists that you really love that you bring to the sound of the band?
- 5:58~ well, actually like back kinda when I started getting into just listening
- 6:04to music when I was in probably fifth grade,
- 6:07it was because Russ had sent me Brad's old SoundCloud playlist.
- 6:13We had all these like crazy kind of psychedelic rap songs like Flatbush
- 6:20Zombies and ~ Biggie. So that was my first intro to listening to music that wasn't
- 6:26just on the radio.
- 6:29And p until I was probably
- 6:30Okay.
- 6:34nineteen I was really into that kind of music for the most part.
- 6:35you
- 6:38And then like Tom Petty came around and now I'm I'm really into kind
- 6:44of the the psychedelic scene now,
- 6:45which is like Tamin Paula, Dope Lemon,
- 6:49a lot of those those bands.
- 6:52And Brett, how about you?
- 6:55Yeah, I, I'm a big country fan,
- 6:58like older country. like like Lee Hazelwood and I'm a big Roger Miller fan.
- 7:04So a lot of those old, older country artists that do a really good
- 7:10job of storytelling and getting a little train beat over it.
- 7:14So, you know, I think, I think we all kind of bring different things
- 7:19you you
- 7:21to the table. And when we're writing music together,
- 7:23it's
- 7:24like for the under your spell song,
- 7:25like all four of us kind of brought a separate part in there that could have been
- 7:29four separate songs. And then ended up just working out that we can mash them kind
- 7:33of all together in this, in this kind of genre bending way.
- 7:37So
- 7:37so let me how how do you how do you make those decisions together?
- 7:41Cause you know, there's there's not a there's there's no fifth tiebreaker.
- 7:44you you
- 7:45Do you guys have a voting process?
- 7:47Do you guys duke it out in the studio?
- 7:49I mean, sometimes sometimes things can get,
- 7:51you know, heated in life when you you're gonna hold a line on a position
- 7:55and you're all bringing different things to the music and you want your your piece
- 7:59to be heard. How do you guys deal with that?
- 8:02Well,
- 8:02Scott, honestly, it's, think the fact that we're all best friends helps a lot.
- 8:07There's a mutual respect as musicians,
- 8:09as friends, as creatives throughout the four of us.
- 8:12Okay.
- 8:12We don't tend to argue very much.
- 8:15I think we all have a really similar vision for what we want and know
- 8:19our sound can be like. So it's,
- 8:21there's not really a hierarchy.
- 8:22There's not really, there's no really,
- 8:24there hasn't really ever been a time where we've had to duke it out or anything.
- 8:28I think a lot of that lies in the fact that there.
- 8:31like our relationship, there's a core base and there's a lot of respect that goes
- 8:36between the four of us and something that Sam hears,
- 8:36Okay. you
- 8:39maybe I don't hear it that same way,
- 8:41but I think we all try things out until we kind of come to ~ a conclusion.
- 8:47Yeah, there's there's always kind of ha ev all of us kind of have the same ear.
- 8:53We're like, All right, that's that's how the song should be,
- 8:56but it takes jamming it out for about five hours to really figure it out.
- 9:05And then yeah. ~
- 9:05or five minutes.
- 9:09Let
- 9:10me let me let me ask. ~ I dcause this is the one thing I really gotta
- 9:13f I gotta understand. The dirty turkeys.
- 9:16What's the story behind the name?
- 9:19The name? so back,
- 9:20Take it away, Brad.
- 9:21back, back in the college years,
- 9:23Okay.
- 9:23~ this is about three years before the dirty Turkey inception even happened.
- 9:28I Sam Russ and I had never even been in a band before I was a freshman.
- 9:30Okay.
- 9:33My I had been telling my roommate for the past,
- 9:36you know, three months that I really wanted to join a band up in college.
- 9:39And
- 9:40he came back from his friend's nephew's little league soccer game.
- 9:45And they were like, it's like a nine year old soccer game.
- 9:47And they had.
- 9:48chosen to name their team, the Dirty Turkeys.
- 9:50Okay. Okay.
- 9:51So when he came back to our dorm,
- 9:53he opened the door up and he's like,
- 9:54dude, I don't know if you'll ever fucking join a band or what,
- 9:57but if you ever do, you gotta call it the Dirty Turkeys.
- 10:00And it wasn't until three years later that we actually started the band.
- 10:04And it hasn't even been a question.
- 10:05It's just always, it's always been the Dirty Turkeys.
- 10:09I think that's amazing.
- 10:09Yeah.
- 10:11At first I was like
- 10:11Yeah,
- 10:12so some nine-year-old soccer team pretty much named us in 2019.
- 10:20so you s Sam, you were saying something?
- 10:22Yeah, at first I was like, wow.
- 10:24~ we're just like this goofy,
- 10:28this goofy name. I don't have like a serious name
- 10:32and be all ~ but then we started realizing it was
- 10:33Okay.
- 10:37a lot more ourselves and a lot
- 10:42a lot more fun to just have that kind of goofy name and and it just people just
- 10:47instead of calling us like, that's the blah blah blah.
- 10:51They just call us turkeys. So it's kind of cool.
- 10:55I just walk around, people gobble at us on the streets.
- 10:55Well there's a turkey.
- 10:59Heh.
- 11:00We got some good turkey
- 11:01~
- 11:01facts. We've kind of been, we represent the turkeys.
- 11:08It's our favorite bird and there needs to be a little bit more
- 11:14out there about that very special bird.
- 11:17So we're happy to be the liaison for that.
- 11:20I mean, so so is there an like an annual Thanksgiving gig you guys do
- 11:23in honor of the turkey? You could do a turkey fest.
- 11:26We get
- 11:26Yeah. ~
- 11:28There's an
- 11:28we get drunk.
- 11:30annual football game that's played every year with us at Thanksgiving.
- 11:33Yeah, we tend to
- 11:35just drink a lot of beer on Thanksgiving and not worry about the music too much.
- 11:36Okay. Ha.
- 11:38Yeah.
- 11:39No,
- 11:40no. I I mean I figured maybe, you know,
- 11:42you guys were on a like, hey, okay,
- 11:44if we name the band The Dirty Turkeys and then we want to get ourselves like
- 11:47a a a bourbon brand and get into the liquor business,
- 11:51Ha
- 11:51Yes, now we're talking.
- 11:51you would definitely have
- 11:53you would definitely have opportunity there for sure.
- 11:54Got some options.
- 11:55Again.
- 11:55That
- 11:56would be such a slippery slope for us to have like cases and cases of bourbon
- 12:00in our garage.
- 12:01Yeah.
- 12:02W why why why so? Why so?
- 12:06I mean, we have like, we have.
- 12:06We tend to drink a lot of it.
- 12:10Yeah,
- 12:12Mm-hmm.
- 12:13we get like we get we get beer from this company called Howdy and
- 12:16we get tequila from this company called Swear-O-Tay and we always like stock
- 12:17Okay.
- 12:20up before we go on tour and we're like,
- 12:22yeah, sick. We got a whole bin full of booze like we're gonna be set
- 12:26for the whole tour and it's usually gone after like
- 12:28the first four days.
- 12:29No,
- 12:29then we gotta like
- 12:30You
- 12:32all right.
- 12:33And well hopefully hopeful
- 12:33So dirty turkey
- 12:35bourbon would be scary.
- 12:37You
- 12:37Yeah,
- 12:38yeah. But you know what in today's look in today's music world,
- 12:40you you've got to have some sort of other merch,
- 12:42right? You've got to have something to sell besides just the music.
- 12:44So now how about ~ like touring?
- 12:48What's what's an ex what is the dirty turkey experience at a live show?
- 12:52What what for people who have not seen you perform before,
- 12:57what is that experience like for them?
- 13:01Raw
- 13:01power. There's a lot of energy.
- 13:04There's a lot of sweatiness. There's a lot of jumping up and down,
- 13:08moshing, just infinite jams,
- 13:13psychedelia.
- 13:16Carnage.
- 13:16Yeah.
- 13:16Yeah, it's
- 13:17not really a show you'd go to and sit down on a chair and have a beer.
- 13:23You gotta surrender to the music and completely let go and be in the very front
- 13:30if you can and interact with the crowd,
- 13:33socialize and just dance like a madman.
- 13:37It's really a performance more,
- 13:37Surrender and let go. Surr surrender and
- 13:39yeah.
- 13:40let go. That that could be a lyric.
- 13:42That could be like that could be your walk,
- 13:44that could be a walk-on song.
- 13:46Sounds like a U two song. ~
- 13:47String it.
- 13:48Surrender, let go.
- 13:49Ha ha
- 13:51yeah, I think all of our songs are are Ty and I try and hold down a
- 13:57a dance beat for the entirety of it.
- 14:00And it's kind of free form, like you can dance however you want.
- 14:04We have a couple songs that are kind of ~ Latin influenced and a couple that
- 14:10are more ~ funk influenced as well,
- 14:14so
- 14:14You can you can shake your bum however you'd like to at a dirty turkey show.
- 14:19And our favorite thing, were talking about it last night,
- 14:21our favorite thing is when we get just like freaks at our shows that just
- 14:26Yes.
- 14:26like, that
- 14:27Mm.
- 14:27just are super weird dancers. And we were talking last night,
- 14:31we were like, we would rather have like,
- 14:33we would rather play a show in front of two just like maniacs instead
- 14:37of like a thousand just regular people that are just like standing there
- 14:40not really dancing.
- 14:41You
- 14:43Sounds it sounds like you guys like a little bit of ~ like an Andy Frasco audience.
- 14:47Have you been with seen Andy play?
- 14:48Yeah.
- 14:48Yeah,
- 14:49we
- 14:50Yeah.
- 14:50need you to take some tequila shots with us.
- 14:52going to need to, we'll probably pull you on stage at some point.
- 14:55It might stick my toe in your mouth.
- 14:57knows? We'll see.
- 14:58So a lot of audience participation.
- 14:59Last night,
- 15:01last night when we
- 15:01Yeah.
- 15:01played, we played in Fort Collins last night and it was so hot in the venue
- 15:05and we didn't have any drinks on stage and Brad just walked up to a girl
- 15:08in the crowd and like took her beer and like chugged it.
- 15:11Like gave the empty glass
- 15:12Yeah
- 15:13back to her.
- 15:15Nice.
- 15:15Yeah
- 15:16Nice. Nice. I like it. I mean,
- 15:18it's it's that in-person musical experience,
- 15:22I think, that that especially,
- 15:24you know, coming out of what we went through for a couple of years with
- 15:27the pandemic, people are really yearning for that live music experience
- 15:31to get out and and be able to ~ to to just be amongst the music.
- 15:36There was too much too much listening in
- 15:37Probably.
- 15:38isolation, you know?
- 15:40And you know, it's interesting,
- 15:41Scott, is this past year, as we've been gaining more and more of an audience,
- 15:46we've been noticing that people are less and less on their phones during
- 15:50the show as well. Like when
- 15:51Mm.
- 15:52we started out, you know, there was a lot of people filming,
- 15:54recording, like it was, it was more into that scene.
- 15:58the last, this past year, a lot of our shows,
- 16:02people are just so immersed in the show and have no desire to take their phone out,
- 16:07no desire to record.
- 16:09videos and we've just been loving that.
- 16:11We've been noticing that recently.
- 16:12It's just cool to see people present,
- 16:14engaged and just there to fuck around and let loose.
- 16:19You know, it's it's
- 16:20it's funny you mention that because I I was just over last weekend,
- 16:24~ I saw this band Integra Pink.
- 16:26~ they're there's
- 16:27Hmm.
- 16:27a Southern California band, and they are like a Kumbia punk Tejano band.
- 16:33And saw them and I I noticed the same thing.
- 16:37Like people were just so into them that the other s the other
- 16:40Mmm. Yeah.
- 16:41periphery stuff didn't matter as much as it kind of did for a while there when
- 16:46people
- 16:46all they would all they would do was you know have their phone out
- 16:50and be either recording a show
- 16:51Yeah.
- 16:52or or doing something else. I think you I think you definitely
- 16:55~ it's definitely something noticeable.
- 16:57And think that's great too because getting a chance to to see an artist
- 17:02~ is not only this wonderful visceral experience,
- 17:06but it's a great way to support a band.
- 17:10Like
- 17:10buying tickets
- 17:10Mm-hmm.
- 17:10Yes.
- 17:11is some people don't realize that,
- 17:13you know, you buy the music, and and we tell people all the time,
- 17:15and there'll be links below to buy your music.
- 17:18Gotta support our artists, but to buy a ticket and then put yourself into
- 17:23a venue for a couple of hours and just disconnect as much as you
- 17:27can and connect with that artist is
- 17:30Mm-hmm.
- 17:31worth every single dollar you've invested in that band.
- 17:34Mm-hmm.
- 17:36And and seeing
- 17:36Yeah.
- 17:37it that way, because I
- 17:38'Cause I think a lot of people are,
- 17:39you know, we've got the ~ you know,
- 17:41this whole blue dot thing going on and and ~ people,
- 17:45you know, being priced out of that experience in a lot of ways.
- 17:49Yeah.
- 17:49~
- 17:51you know, that when you can find a band that you like,
- 17:54when they're out on the road, support them,
- 17:55be in that be in that experience.
- 17:57Cause then you can tell your friends about the great time you had.
- 18:00Okay.
- 18:00Yeah.
- 18:00Mm-hmm.
- 18:02And that's where a lot of, think our fan base comes from is word of mouth.
- 18:05we haven't gone like viral on social media or anything like that.
- 18:10But when we go to these shows,
- 18:12a lot of these people are coming back and they're like,
- 18:14I brought my friends this time.
- 18:15And like we saw you last year.
- 18:16And I think that's super powerful as well.
- 18:19And very overlooked. know, I people chase virality and that's great
- 18:24for the short term. And yeah, maybe you might sell tickets,
- 18:26you know, in that city or whatever,
- 18:28but I think long-term fans.
- 18:30It's really important to gain that word of mouth.
- 18:33That's going to last longer than anything.
- 18:36Yeah, and and and build the relationship.
- 18:38I I think now more than
- 18:39Yeah.
- 18:40Yeah.
- 18:40ever, building that relationship and being accessible to to people who invest
- 18:45in you is so important. It really
- 18:47Mm-hmm.
- 18:48Mm-hmm.
- 18:48is.
- 18:48Yeah, and I think I speak for all of us,
- 18:50like we're very grateful. Like we have the best fan base in the world
- 18:54and like we're very grateful to have grown in the way that we did and
- 18:57not have a song blow up or like an Instagram video blow up.
- 19:00then overnight, like we have all these fans.
- 19:03Like it's been a very authentic and like genuine growth process.
- 19:06And it's been and I think I think because of that,
- 19:09we have really like genuine fans that literally they feel like family
- 19:13to us because they've just like grown with us over the years.
- 19:16Yeah.
- 19:18I think that's great.
- 19:18Our first couple
- 19:19of tours we played, we booked ourselves and it was pretty much only bars
- 19:24~ and we would play for three hours straight.
- 19:27You know, I'm like that's, kind of thought that was the norm and that
- 19:31I think helped us really find our sound and,
- 19:35and like Tyler said, find our sound,
- 19:37find our performance, connect with each other.
- 19:40And like Ty was saying, find those,
- 19:43those fans who've
- 19:44You know, we're there watching us for three hours straight and some podunk bar and,
- 19:48you know, Nevada or something.
- 19:53Well,
- 19:53let me ask you this. Have you,
- 19:55you know, it's it's been what about five,
- 19:57six years now you guys been together.
- 19:59Have you set some goals for yourselves as a as a group and then reach them
- 20:05and had a moment where it just kind of you're like look around and go,
- 20:09wait a minute, we we hit our goal.
- 20:11We did what we wanted to set set out to do,
- 20:13whether it be in in producing a certain song or maybe it was a show,
- 20:16have you had one of those aha moments where like,
- 20:19damn it, this thing has really come together the way that we we'd hoped it would?
- 20:24Yeah, playing in New York City was definitely a big moment for all of us.
- 20:29We drove all the way out there,
- 20:33trekked all the way, played some shows on the way and got there.
- 20:36Just being in our own van with our own gear and everything and seeing that city
- 20:39was crazy. And just navigating through the streets,
- 20:43the van, playing the show, that was awesome.
- 20:47then also, I would say our most recent song,
- 20:51Under Your Spell, we all
- 20:54We're all very proud of it. It feels like the most genuine Turkey song that we've
- 21:00ever made. ~ All of
- 21:04our ideas from each band member has conjoined into this song in a very special way.
- 21:10It feels like a breakthrough song for us.
- 21:14Well
- 21:15let's let's talk about under your spell
- 21:18In the context of this, I really like it.
- 21:21The the music video that you guys made was brilliant.
- 21:24I really, I really enjoyed it.
- 21:26For any of you watching, I'll throw the link to that down
- 21:28Ha!
- 21:28below too. You've got you've got to check this out.
- 21:30~ if you if you enjoy ~ if you were a child and enjoyed a good puppet show,
- 21:35~ and something a little further out there,
- 21:38this is this is the video for you.
- 21:40~ you know, given that that you're growing this audience of yours organically,
- 21:45and under your spell being your newest song,
- 21:47if some
- 21:48Someone has not heard your music before.
- 21:50You have a catalog of songs. You've got a whole bunch of videos on YouTube.
- 21:54you've got your album, you've put singles out.
- 21:58It music, I look at it like, you know,
- 22:01a meal, which couple of songs and each of you,
- 22:05you know, let's see if let's see who each of you what each of you picks,
- 22:09~ would be like your appetizer song if you met someone off the street and said,
- 22:14Hey, I'm in this band.
- 22:16Start
- 22:17with this song. You gotta check this out.
- 22:19Which song would it be
- 22:19Mmm.
- 22:20and why? So Sam, why don't you go first?
- 22:25Ooh, I would choose our song Cowboy Caravan because that
- 22:32was kind of this ~
- 22:38Manifestation of like a circus that Russ and I like a while back were like
- 22:44in the desert we like looked up on some rocks,
- 22:47we're like, dude, like what if we had crazy people dancing while
- 22:54a show was going on in the middle of the desert,
- 22:57and then fast forward two years later,
- 22:59we come out with an album and there's people in the desert on fire dancing
- 23:04to our song and and we kinda we kinda like
- 23:07qu or I think Russ and Brad wrote the lyrics to it and it just was like
- 23:12a perfect representation of ~ where we were gonna go.
- 23:17And we wrote it like a year before it even happened,
- 23:19which is just the strangest thing in the world.
- 23:22Mm-hmm.
- 23:23Nice. Ross,
- 23:24how about you?
- 23:26That's a good one that I have to agree with that one.
- 23:31I mean, that song, it started as a poem and then it kind
- 23:37of just evolved into the poem became the lyrics and then the music became kind
- 23:44of like you said, a circus-esque,
- 23:47almost like Latin sounding ~ beat with like some syrupy aspects to it.
- 23:54And yeah, I just...
- 23:56I've always felt like that's just an amazing encapsulation of our band.
- 24:01There's an energy switch up at the end that kind of goes into more of punk tempo.
- 24:07yeah, couldn't agree more with Sam.
- 24:14All right. Ty, what which which one would you say ~ people should start with?
- 24:19I would say as an appetizer might be a hot take,
- 24:25but I would say OODA LALI from the first album.
- 24:29It's, I think as
- 24:32Wow.
- 24:33an appetizer, the job of an appetizer is to
- 24:38be easily digestible and to get
- 24:40That's a good thing.
- 24:41the kind of clear the palette and get you on like a level
- 24:46you
- 24:46wavelength.
- 24:48to be able
- 24:48Wow.
- 24:48to be prepared for the rest of the meal.
- 24:50And I think that song is very digestible.
- 24:52And I think that song is very like,
- 24:53it's very catchy. And it's just like,
- 24:55it's kind of like happy and jolly.
- 24:57it's my appetizer would be Uduali.
- 25:00The salesman, this guy.
- 25:01I like that.
- 25:04Nice. Brad, all right, you're last.
- 25:06What do you what w which one would your appetizer be?
- 25:12Like Tyler was saying, if we're appetizers,
- 25:14if we're talking clear in the palate,
- 25:16I'm going with a sweater. think,
- 25:20Mmm.
- 25:20you
- 25:21know, a sweater is a little jammy,
- 25:24a little psyche. I think it does a good job of showcasing a little bit of funness.
- 25:30Don't take yourself too seriously.
- 25:32You can play it in the beach, you can play it in the car,
- 25:34can play it in the shower. You can move your hips,
- 25:37you can shake your lips to it.
- 25:39I think it's a good little before.
- 25:41before the meal, before you get to the main course,
- 25:44before you get to the dessert,
- 25:46put on a sweater.
- 25:48Well, okay, so I have a question.
- 25:50~ how much ~ how many psychedelics did you give to the the fish that were in that?
- 25:55I mean, were f any fish harmed during the production of that video?
- 25:57Hahaha.
- 25:58Hehe.
- 25:58Ha!
- 26:02We cannot say.
- 26:02They weren't episode.
- 26:02What was the real what was the relationship
- 26:04of the aquatic life to to the song?
- 26:08~ well we were just frickin' belly floppin' in some warm water
- 26:16somewhere. Yeah.
- 26:17Stop right.
- 26:20And
- 26:20Then
- 26:21Russ saw a jellyfish in the water and started filming it.
- 26:25It was hitting the same bass tempo.
- 26:29That same was hitting with the bass.
- 26:31We were out there and we're like,
- 26:34let's film a music video for Sweater Out Here.
- 26:36It feels like good spot to do it.
- 26:39All the plants and the animals and everything have this vibration going
- 26:46to it as well.
- 26:47The best part is throughout the entire music video,
- 26:50all of Sam's dance moves are mimicking fish.
- 26:54that's hidden
- 26:55Yeah. I was hanging out I was hanging out with that jellyfish for a while.
- 27:00theme in the video.
- 27:02As long as long as you didn't get attacked by the jellyfish or the sting
- 27:05was it a stingray in there, you're okay.
- 27:06You're that's that's
- 27:07Hahaha
- 27:07what matters. safety first, guys.
- 27:09Safety first. ~ you guys have to be you have to be able to do this for a long time.
- 27:13~
- 27:13Hahaha.
- 27:15we you know, we live in a world where a lot of people come through our lives
- 27:20and ~ make an impact on us in one way or another.
- 27:24~ and some people are with us for a short time and make a long-lasting impact.
- 27:28And some people are with us for a long time,
- 27:30right? ~ eat for each of you,
- 27:34is there someone who's come through your life that has a had a monumental impact
- 27:40on supporting your musical journey in one way
- 27:45you
- 27:45or another?
- 27:47Ty, how
- 27:47Hmm.
- 27:47about you?
- 27:50wow. I mean, my my family,
- 27:54they came to they came to one of our first shows we played at our hometown,
- 28:00Benny the Fox. And my family still talks about it today,
- 28:04how my sister was just screaming like,
- 28:06that's my brother. And then they made like
- 28:09Heh.
- 28:09they made t shirts that says like,
- 28:11that's my brother on it. Now, every time they come to a turkey show,
- 28:15they always wear they're like,
- 28:15that's my brother t shirts. ~
- 28:19Like from the beginning, my family's always been like number one supporters
- 28:24of all of this, which has been great.
- 28:28That's great. That's great. Sam,
- 28:30how 'bout you?
- 28:31Yeah, I I'd love to sh shout out also my family,
- 28:36but also our friends who come to our shows,
- 28:41especially in the beginning when we were playing those three hour sets.
- 28:44my buddy Quinn, Sam Joffy,
- 28:48~ Alexa Ahmad,
- 28:51like all these people came to our shows when and really,
- 28:55really enjoyed the environment of
- 29:00those first tours and just followed us everywhere,
- 29:02that was really something that kept our heads ~ straight and being like,
- 29:08Okay, we're not doing this for nothing,
- 29:09you know.
- 29:12Our friends are having incredible experiences with us,
- 29:15you know.
- 29:17That's great. That's great. Russ,
- 29:18how about you?
- 29:21I would actually like to shout out my brother here Bradley for when
- 29:25I started getting into making music,
- 29:28until this day he's always been the biggest fan of this art I've created
- 29:34and the songs I've created and ~ he's helped really just bring those
- 29:40to life and making them turkey songs like all these songs that just started
- 29:46out as ideas, all these riffs.
- 29:48~
- 29:50Yeah, big thanks to Bradley. My brother,
- 29:53love ya.
- 29:53Thank you, brother. Thank you.
- 29:54Love you,
- 29:57~ huh.
- 29:57It's funny you say that, I
- 29:58was actually going to say you as well.
- 30:00Yeah.
- 30:01Wow. I'm gonna cry, man. I'm gonna cry.
- 30:02being brothers,
- 30:03~ well it's really
- 30:05you know, Ross and I are in the same house.
- 30:08When we go off for Ross and I are still together all the time.
- 30:11I wouldn't be in this position at all if it wasn't for my brother.
- 30:18I was about to go sell record players and my brother started playing guitar
- 30:24and was like, hey, we need someone to sing.
- 30:26So I definitely wouldn't be here at all if it wasn't for him.
- 30:28And he's always creatively pushing me with music and with
- 30:33art consistently nonstop. And he's just like a waterfall
- 30:39of new ideas, new riffs that I just feel blessed to be in the presence of.
- 30:44So I love you
- 30:46Done.
- 30:46brother.
- 30:47Thank you,
- 30:48I think isn't that great? I think that's fabulous.
- 30:51What does you know, I I mean it's hard to believe.
- 30:54~ you know, we've we've we've we're
- 30:58almost halfway through the middle part of the year.
- 31:01And ~ you know, turning turning into the the the end of twenty six gonna
- 31:06be here sooner than we can imagine.
- 31:07And I live in Dallas, Texas. So as as soon as we can get out of the
- 31:11the season of oven would be better.
- 31:13~
- 31:13my gosh.
- 31:14you know, I don't want to rush anything,
- 31:14Hahaha
- 31:16but it's a little warm. ~ so what is the what does the remainder of the year have
- 31:20in store for you guys? You you mentioned ~ work on a new album.
- 31:24~ what's what's what's the rest of the writ the year look like?
- 31:28Well, we have, we're playing a Fox theater show in August and going on
- 31:33a little tour in September of California,
- 31:35going to balance it all around the coast.
- 31:37~ playing a festival at electric hunting,
- 31:39~ which is a music festival in the deserts of Moab.
- 31:43And then, big news. This is the first time that we've ever told anyone this,
- 31:48but we're planning on moving to San Francisco in October.
- 31:53Cool.
- 31:53So we got a little move going on there and album,
- 31:56the Soul Sugar, our upcoming album will be released at the end of this year as well.
- 32:01So a lot of fun stuff coming up for the turkeys.
- 32:04We're trotting
- 32:04you
- 32:05along. It's all gas right now,
- 32:07Scott. It's all gas. Pelville to metal.
- 32:10I'll gas
- 32:10re I'll gas regardless of the price of a gallon.
- 32:13Here.
- 32:14Exactly. It was a little tough there for a bit.
- 32:14Yeah.
- 32:15Hahaha
- 32:16but for neuron
- 32:19in order to afford those gallons,
- 32:20you gotta support these guys. Hey,
- 32:22look, there's a lot of great music in San ~ San Francisco.
- 32:25If when you get out there, you gotta look up ~ Black Gold Sun.
- 32:29They are incredible. It's a three-piece
- 32:31Black Gold Sun.
- 32:32Sweet.
- 32:33Glad Black Gold Sun,
- 32:34three three piece female punk band,
- 32:37they are amazing. They are absolutely absolutely amazing.
- 32:39Ooh, we need that.
- 32:40Wow.
- 32:41Sick.
- 32:41Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's a
- 32:42Yeah, we're really excited to explore
- 32:44a new scene. We've been in the Denver,
- 32:47Colorado scene for a while now.
- 32:49We love it out here, but the West is calling us.
- 32:52The West is calling us. We need to take charge.
- 32:55Head to the ocean, see what awaits.
- 32:57Spend all our money. Yeah.
- 32:58You gotta you gotta go where life takes you.
- 33:00Right. Right.
- 33:03Well well ~ you know hopefully maybe you guys will get around to Texas
- 33:07at some point. Would love to see you here in the Dallas area if I can't
- 33:09get out of town to to
- 33:10Yeah.
- 33:11to come see you guys perform. I mean,
- 33:12just everybody I can't say enough.
- 33:14I I I I saw my Instagram and I'm like,
- 33:17I I gotta meet these guys. I gotta understand how this came together.
- 33:23~ and I definitely want to see one of those three hour shows for sure.
- 33:26~ because you get more you probably get more bang for your buck
- 33:30in performance now than than other people who are putting on three hour shows
- 33:34who are also using oxygen. So totally,
- 33:36Thanks.
- 33:38totally ~ worth ~ getting out to see them.
- 33:39Okay.
- 33:42Yeah, yeah.
- 33:42~ hopefully I'll get a chance to as well.
- 33:45~ you mentioned, you know, not going viral ~ that yet.
- 33:51It'll happen.
- 33:52Yet.
- 33:52soon.
- 33:53How do you feel about, you know,
- 33:55you you s you had a love of music and you started doing this for the music,
- 33:59but now you have to be these content creators,
- 34:02right? Do you find it challenging?
- 34:04Do you find it something you enjoy,
- 34:06or is it absolute drudgery? What's your what's your sentiment?
- 34:10Yeah, I mean initially we when we first started the band we
- 34:14we definitely rejected all of it and we're like this is not what it's about.
- 34:17It's about the music. It's about the live experience,
- 34:20the rawness of live music. ~ But you know we've we've come around to it and
- 34:28we realized the ~ benefit of using it as
- 34:32a tool and almost, I mean,
- 34:36it's kind of essential these days.
- 34:39~ And so, I mean,
- 34:42yeah, Sam and I both have media production backgrounds
- 34:46and video editing backgrounds.
- 34:47So, you know, we just kind of put our own spin on it and made it fun.
- 34:53It's still definitely a doozy at times.
- 34:57to keep up with, but we like to have fun with it.
- 35:01Yeah, and also
- 35:02So so
- 35:04I'm sorry, Sam.
- 35:06also like a lot of this stuff is pretty authentic.
- 35:09I mean, we've tried to do trends before and it's just
- 35:14not not really our thing.
- 35:17work.
- 35:17~
- 35:18but Brad's Brad is also an illustrator.
- 35:21So like all the posters he makes are all hand drawn,
- 35:24so we we stick very much so to the human
- 35:29~ aspects of of art as much as we can and posting art a lot.
- 35:35on our Instagram is is definitely different from a lot of bands.
- 35:41Let's let's talk
- 35:41~
- 35:42There's a sentiment of, Scott,
- 35:44~
- 35:45No, no, keep get going. Right.
- 35:48just to touch on what Russ, what the guys are saying a bit.
- 35:51In the beginning, there was that rejection.
- 35:54And then I think we all realized that,
- 35:56yes, this is a band and the point is to make music,
- 35:59but it's also a brand and people have to buy into your brand.
- 36:03And back in the day, there was marketing teams surrounding
- 36:07our favorite artists and...
- 36:09helping them put out music and now it's our job to do that.
- 36:13So we really sat down and we're like,
- 36:14all right, what is the brand of the dirty turkeys?
- 36:16How do we want to be perceived?
- 36:17And once we started looking at it in those,
- 36:21in that aspect, it became much more fun and easier to do where,
- 36:26you know, like Sam was saying,
- 36:27we don't have to do a trend just because it's blowing up.
- 36:29Like we can just film ourselves on tour and Russ can make a video of
- 36:33it and people resonate with it because
- 36:37they're not on tour and that's like something interesting.
- 36:39You know, think over trial and error ~ over the past couple of years,
- 36:43we began to honestly kind of enjoy it more than it be as much of a burden.
- 36:50Yeah, it's it's it's definitely ~ it's become a hamster wheel that that
- 36:55you know musicians get stuck on,
- 36:57right? ~ so better
- 36:58Yeah.
- 36:58that it's a it it's enjoyable and it's great.
- 37:01Look, as a as someone who got a degree in filmmaking,
- 37:04guys, Sam and and and Russ,
- 37:08I I totally can understand those are great skills to have.
- 37:11Plus it's not it's not bad for plan B if something else happens.
- 37:15Surely. ~
- 37:16but you talked about keeping the human in the art.
- 37:20And that really, that really w leads me to want to wanna dive into something,
- 37:25which is what are you, what's your sentiment on embracing the technology these days
- 37:31that has come around, the use of,
- 37:33you know, whether it's whether whether it is ~ technology that
- 37:38can change and enhance your sound or ~ AI,
- 37:42what are your feelings about bringing that mechanical piece into the human side
- 37:48of your art?
- 37:53I
- 37:53I
- 37:53really I think I mean, we talk we talk about it all the time,
- 37:57where I think over the next decade,
- 37:59we're gonna see we're gonna see more change in the world in the next decade than
- 38:03we have over the last like, 100 years.
- 38:05And especially from like a technical technological standpoint.
- 38:12And I think there's, there's a big surge of like,
- 38:17people are going crazy over these like AI videos.
- 38:19And, you know, like all this, all this kind of
- 38:23artificial stuff. And I think there will be a big boom of like artificial
- 38:29art and it'll seep its way into the art world for I would say like
- 38:35two to three years where people it's still shocking and it's still new
- 38:39but I think eventually people are gonna get sick
- 38:44of ~ artificially produced art and they're gonna crave human produced art.
- 38:51And I think that's really going to be an avenue where we're going to
- 38:54be able to capitalize really well on like when people are all of sudden like,
- 38:58wow, we miss seeing four dudes on a stage playing their instruments,
- 39:03you know?
- 39:07Yeah, no, I agree. I mean, it's it,
- 39:09you know, it's I think the one of one of the things that that that really pulled
- 39:14me into your music is the mix of sound,
- 39:18the cultural mix of the genres,
- 39:20and it's not vanilla.
- 39:23And it's so hard with so much content and so much music created these days.
- 39:29Because, you know, for what it's worth,
- 39:32you can, you know, you can sit around with a computer and make whatever you want.
- 39:35But
- 39:37You guys are are really Neapolitan.
- 39:39And I think that's that is the ultimate goal,
- 39:42right? How do you how do you keep yourself separated from the vanilla all the time?
- 39:48And I think that's you know, that's the challenge.
- 39:48Um, I also think that's
- 39:50a reason that we haven't like blown up yet is because it,
- 39:54it, it isn't vanilla and it's not easily digestible for everyone.
- 39:59But I think that's, that's why we admire the Jesus Christ taxi driver guys as well.
- 40:03Cause they're, they're true to their craft as well.
- 40:05And they're not making music to appease the masses and neither are we.
- 40:09And yeah, right now, you know,
- 40:11we're not the biggest band in the world because of that.
- 40:14I think over time staying true to that.
- 40:18authentic sound in your vision will pay off tenfold.
- 40:25And I think, you know, the Peter Drucker,
- 40:28~ godfather of modern business,
- 40:30said consistency is the key to all economic success.
- 40:33I'd like to take it one step further.
- 40:35Consistency is the key to all success.
- 40:37Stick with your guns,
- 40:38Mmm.
- 40:39do what you feel is right, do it consistently,
- 40:42and you'll attract the right people to it.
- 40:44The people who should
- 40:45Mm-hmm.
- 40:45be there, the people
- 40:46Beautifully said.
- 40:46who go who'll go along for the ride.
- 40:48Yeah,
- 40:49I like to think about, ~ I feel like there's been
- 40:54a shift ~ with musicians and artists in general in the past.
- 40:59wanted to be great. They wanted to have a legacy.
- 41:03They wanted to be great. And now people just want to be famous.
- 41:07People just want to have quick fame.
- 41:09~ But that's something I always like to return to is what will be remembered for
- 41:16Many years to come like it doesn't it doesn't matter for that We're
- 41:19not blowing up right now or anything like that of that sort But if I think that like
- 41:24you were saying if we stick to what we're doing and be organic
- 41:28to ourselves authentic to ourselves ~ That's the most important thing
- 41:33of being but being remembered
- 41:36Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. You guys are gonna get there.
- 41:39I have no doubt. ~ especially because everybody who sees this is gonna
- 41:42go out and see you. that's number
- 41:44Haha.
- 41:44one, and
- 41:44number two, they're gonna they're gonna buy your music.
- 41:46~
- 41:48Let's let's talk about this though.
- 41:49~ I love putting good things out into the world.
- 41:52I think I think a lot of times we keep things inside of our head too long
- 41:57and we don't share enough to to get the things that we really want
- 42:00to do and accomplish out there.
- 42:02And you know, sometimes we hold it a little too close to the vest.
- 42:04So I'm always interested in in the answer to this question.
- 42:07And I'm gonna start I'm gonna start with Sam and I'll go down the line.
- 42:10But if there was an artist
- 42:13That you had a chance to get in a studio with for a day,
- 42:16each of you, and be creative with.
- 42:18You could learn from them, you could write a lyric with them,
- 42:23jam with them, whatever that experience is.
- 42:26Who would that artist be and why is it on the top of your list?
- 42:31Sam, you go first.
- 42:34I would choose Angus Stone and the Dope Lemon Guys,
- 42:38~ and girls Julia Stone as well.
- 42:43Because it's actually kind of tangible.
- 42:46They have a studio and I really,
- 42:49really enjoy how his engineers record drums and
- 42:55how they approach music. I think it's kind of some of the greatest listen
- 43:03music that's come out in a very long time.
- 43:07You can put on his album from front to back and just chill.
- 43:11He's a genius.
- 43:13I'm gonna have to check
- 43:13them out. I I I miss records that were made for front to back listening because
- 43:20everything has become we live in this single world.
- 43:22So I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna make a note and and listen to some of that.
- 43:24Ty, who's who would it be for you?
- 43:28impact question. have so many names going through my head right now.
- 43:31But I would definitely say my number one would be Stu McKenzie from King
- 43:38Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
- 43:40Yeah.
- 43:41He produces
- 43:41Have a good one.
- 43:45BeyBrainbows music and they run P-Doom records and you know,
- 43:49that circle of people just produces such
- 43:57unheard of music and art, like,
- 44:00and they do it all themselves.
- 44:01And it's unbelievably if you have even seen the video of them,
- 44:06that of them recording ~
- 44:10~ it was it was like the dripping tap,
- 44:13I think one of their one of their songs,
- 44:15there's like this video on YouTube of them recording it and they did they have this
- 44:19thing where they like recorded Stu's grandma saying something and it like made
- 44:22it in the final mix of the song or like they just they just have a really good time
- 44:26in the studio and all ideas fly and it's like nothing is nothing is
- 44:31too crazy to like try, you know,
- 44:33that's where I really want to
- 44:33~
- 44:34get is like any idea is worth a try,
- 44:38you know.
- 44:39And I feel like that's kind of the world that they live in,
- 44:41which I admire.
- 44:44if you if you don't try, you don't get any result.
- 44:46So you can either play it safe or you can just put it out there and
- 44:48see where it lands, right?
- 44:50Yeah.
- 44:51Yeah. Well, Brad, how about you?
- 44:53Who would yours be?
- 44:56It's a tough one. I'd honestly have to go,
- 44:59~ based out of LA. And then Cisco Adler,
- 45:04he's a, he's a producer based out of LA.
- 45:07He's got some songs that's Shwazy.
- 45:09And, I think that his recording style would fit very well with the turkeys.
- 45:16And, ~ I like the kind of energy and stuff that he puts out.
- 45:21He's done stuff with like Wiz Khalifa and Mike Posner and stuff.
- 45:24And I think it would give the turkeys a.
- 45:26kind of a unique kind of sound to kind of try to go a direction like that.
- 45:32Nice. Nice. And Russ, how about you?
- 45:37~ I feel like these are all very tangible answers.
- 45:40So, ~ I would probably say, ~ this there's this guy named Jonathan Rado,
- 45:46who was a part of this duo called Foxygen.
- 45:49And he produced all of their records and their records have always inspired
- 45:56me to experiment and, and, you know,
- 45:59just go crazy. And, ~ yeah,
- 46:03I would love to work with him.
- 46:04I think our band could.
- 46:06make some really cool stuff with that guy and he's around,
- 46:09he still records with bands. So that would be awesome,
- 46:13What up?
- 46:13putting that
- 46:13Whoa.
- 46:14out into the air.
- 46:16Our our audience knows what to do then.
- 46:16Or the yellow, what's the yellows
- 46:17days guy? What's the yellow day?
- 46:19Yellow days guys name? Yeah,
- 46:20~ George. Yeah,
- 46:21Charge.
- 46:22yeah. The singer
- 46:23that'd be cool.
- 46:25and producer for yellow days. You definitely be up there as well.
- 46:30And the stingrays.
- 46:33There you go, you got a bonus.
- 46:34Now the audience knows what to
- 46:35Haha
- 46:35do. If
- 46:36you know any of these people, if you are,
- 46:38if you went to school with them,
- 46:40if you went to school with their kids,
- 46:41if you walk their dog, if you pick up their dry cleaning,
- 46:44if you cut their lawn, whatever,
- 46:46however you're connected to them,
- 46:48Ha ha!
- 46:48we gotta make some magic happen for the dirty turkeys.
- 46:51So
- 46:51Ha ha ha.
- 46:53you have you have been you
- 46:53.
- 46:54have been charged and warned to go out and make this stuff happen.
- 46:58~ we we you know.
- 47:02We are big believers in supporting artists.
- 47:04So so as I said earlier, you're gonna find the links below.
- 47:07They've got well, you guys got one or two albums that I forget currently.
- 47:10There's an album and an VP, which what is it?
- 47:12I'm AbomininEP
- 47:12Yeah, we
- 47:13got one full album and one EP out right now.
- 47:16And and another one in the works.
- 47:16Couple singles in there too.
- 47:17Go
- 47:19out and purchase their music. And if you are fortunate enough to you
- 47:23see that the turkeys are coming to town,
- 47:25buy tickets, I can't even begin to imagine what kind of batshit crazy merch these
- 47:31guys have. Because they talked about shake
- 47:32Hahaha
- 47:33showing up and shaking your tail feathers.
- 47:35And I hope you guys are selling selling some tail feathers.
- 47:37maybe, maybe with the
- 47:37Mm-hmm.
- 47:38Ha
- 47:38Hahaha.
- 47:39band logo on them. I don't know.
- 47:40But support them.
- 47:42It's gonna cost some money for them to move to San Francisco.
- 47:45It costs money to tour. It costs money to make music.
- 47:47Okay. Okay.
- 47:49All of those things need your support.
- 47:51So the links are gonna be below.
- 47:53~ as we kind of slide into home base here and and wind things down,
- 47:58you know, obviously you're making music because you're passionate.
- 48:04about music and you love music.
- 48:06And I'm always fascinated with who people listen to when they're
- 48:10not making their own music. Whether it's someone that influences them
- 48:14or it's someone that just
- 48:14enough
- 48:15brings a calmness and peace to the world.
- 48:17Right. Who I'm gonna go down the line again and I'm gonna start with Russ this time.
- 48:22So I'm gonna put him on the on the on the ~ on the spot.
- 48:26~
- 48:27Tell me about a band that you're like,
- 48:29if we're just sitting around having a beer,
- 48:30you're Scott, you gotta check these people out.
- 48:32This is a great artist, it's a great band.
- 48:34I love him. Here's why you gotta put your ears to him.
- 48:37And I can tell already, look, I know Russ is gonna pick Tay Tay because
- 48:42he totally comes off as a Swifty and he's really in recovery over this whole wedding
- 48:42Okay.
- 48:43Hahaha.
- 48:44Hahaha
- 48:47thing,
- 48:47but Russ.
- 48:51Who's somebody you're listening to other than Taylor Swift?
- 48:54Because she gets enough publicity and we've only mentioned her three times now,
- 48:57~ that you really dig when you're out.
- 48:59Maybe you go to the gym, maybe you go for a walk,
- 49:01maybe you meditate, whatever. Who's who's somebody you're listening
- 49:04to that you think I should put my ears on?
- 49:06I'll probably put you on Ravi Shankar if you haven't already been exposed to that
- 49:11yeah.
- 49:12fine lad. Yeah, that music,
- 49:16mean the sitar especially has always just brought me back
- 49:21to earth and reminded me who I am.
- 49:25So I always return to that music.
- 49:29I like that. I like that. Yes.
- 49:31One of the one of the greats. ~ Brad,
- 49:34how about you?
- 49:38Harry Nielsen, big fan of Harry Nielsen,
- 49:41big fan of his short film, The Point.
- 49:44His music brings me utter peace and I love his kind of whimsicalness mixed with
- 49:52his four octane voice and orchestra and his songwriting style.
- 49:58I'm a big fan of, big, big fan.
- 50:01I've been listening to him about every day for the last couple months.
- 50:03you
- 50:04So Harry Nielsen's top for me.
- 50:08You know what, I if he had ever changed his name to something else,
- 50:12I don't think the only other
- 50:13Ha
- 50:13name he could have had was Joy.
- 50:15Cause that's what I get from his music.
- 50:16Yeah, seriously. Yeah. The Beatles loved
- 50:17Yeah
- 50:18A lot of joy. A lot of joy.
- 50:19Ha ha.
- 50:20him. People called him the fifth Beatle.
- 50:22He inspired a lot of the Beatles songs.
- 50:25I feel like he's very underrated,
- 50:27and at least our generation. yeah,
- 50:30big, big, big fan.
- 50:33I love that. Ty, how about you?
- 50:37I mean, I might be shockingly,
- 50:42but the majority of the music that I listen to on my downtime is there's
- 50:46not drums in it. ~ Shockingly,
- 50:50but I love folk and I love like bluegrass.
- 50:55And we just played with, actually have their vinyl,
- 50:59but this band, The Last Wild Buffalo,
- 51:00I got a vinyl from them ~ this last weekend,
- 51:04but.
- 51:05They like if you want to talk about front to back no skip albums,
- 51:09their first record and I haven't really I haven't I haven't been home with
- 51:15my record player yet. So I haven't been able to listen to this one yet.
- 51:19But their first album is one of the most incredible albums I've ever heard
- 51:22in my life. like they're just they're just this little
- 51:26Okay.
- 51:27folk band from like southern Utah.
- 51:29And it's really cool
- 51:30Thank
- 51:31because now we're friends with them and like,
- 51:32you know,
- 51:34like we just played with them last weekend but genuinely not even like trying
- 51:38to shout out my friends like they are one of my favorite bands I've ever heard
- 51:41in my life.
- 51:42you
- 51:43That's
- 51:43awesome. I'm gonna have to check him out.
- 51:44How about Sam? Sam, how about you?
- 51:47I there is a band currently in New York City called Persona
- 51:54Seven Four Nine and they have some of the craziest rock and roll music.
- 52:01I don't even know what to call it,
- 52:02but they have some of the craziest music I've heard.
- 52:06And they are all about our age,
- 52:09which is just very impressive.
- 52:12And yeah, shout out to that band.
- 52:15They're
- 52:16Some of their music is just mind blowing.
- 52:20I'll check them out. What timing?
- 52:22Somebody's at the door. Is it an Amazon package?
- 52:24~ is it is it a delivery? Guys,
- 52:27this has been fantastic. I'm gonna tell you right now,
