- 0:00Up next for Dan Hurley's crew second meeting of the season with DePaul that comes
- 0:04on Wednesday night at the wind Trust Arena. Our covers beginning with a hard
- 0:07auto group count down a tip at eight thirty. Here, along the Yukon
- 0:10Sports Network, the barsitat Network App, and thevarsitat Network dot Com, we're
- 0:14joined now in the Coaches Show by Alex Caravan, the red shirt sophomore forward
- 0:19for the Huskies, coming off a big day against Georgetown, a mattinee game
- 0:24where he had twenty five points. Let me tell you, let me ask
- 0:26you about this first. I don't think I've ever asked you this daytime matinee
- 0:30games versus you're gonna go to Chicago and you're gonna play at eight o'clock at
- 0:34night, Which do you prefer? I prefer the day times. I'm a
- 0:39morning person, so once I'm up, I'm going like I'm ready to go,
- 0:43and at night I go to bed early. So the Lake games they
- 0:47get tough for me. I'm not gonna lie, so it's tough waiting all
- 0:50day for a game. So I definitely prefer the early ones. Yeah,
- 0:54A lot of people say that, So what's your morning routine on a matinee
- 0:58game where they up at twelve o'clock. How early are you up? And
- 1:02about what's your breakfast thing? And then and what's your first physical thing that
- 1:07you do getting ready for a game. Yeah, I'll wake up around seven
- 1:11forty and I'll just top in the shower real quick, just to wake myself
- 1:15up, and then I'll go to the meal room and grab breakfast, and
- 1:18then I'll go straight to James to do rehab or you know, stuff just
- 1:22to get ready, and then I'm really in there for pretty much the entire
- 1:26time until the bus has to leave, Get taped for my ankles, do
- 1:30some stem work, everything really, and then get to the arena and I
- 1:36try to change onto my stuff as fast as possible, get my shoes on
- 1:38asquak as possible, and just get out there and do form shots. That's
- 1:42the first time you're really shooting all day, so try to get extra shots
- 1:46up before we start doing our scheduled routine that we normally do. So really
- 1:51just try to be out there as quick as possible. Yeah, James Doran,
- 1:53you're talking about the trainer does it does a great job with you guys?
- 1:57So you didn't get to shoot around in the Capitol One Arena because it's
- 2:01a matinee game. I don't think you went there at night when you got
- 2:05there, right, No, we didn't. Yeah, so normally the team
- 2:07does that, They try to go to the arena at night when they arrive
- 2:12and get some shooting in, maybe get a morning shoot around if it's a
- 2:15night game. But you didn't get that in this game. So what were
- 2:17you thinking as you prepared for this game knowing that you really hadn't had a
- 2:21chance to shoot in that arena for over a year. Yeah, we felt
- 2:25thought positively. We knew that. I mean it was it's where the Washington
- 2:30Wizards place. So we've had plenty of games so far this season where we've
- 2:34played in large arenas and larger venues, whether that was in Seattle or MSG,
- 2:38you know NBA like arenas, So we felt comfortable already from the jump.
- 2:43But then you know, at the same time, the hoops are still
- 2:46ten feet same length as a course, so like, you know, you
- 2:49just got to go out there and play and you know, not worry so
- 2:52much about how the shots going, but just continue to play it to the
- 2:53Yukon identity and the crowd was. There were a lot of Yukon fans there
- 3:00talking Dan earlier about this U. You know, Georgetown hadn't drawn that well
- 3:02or having a rough season, but man, there was like it seemed like
- 3:07thousands of Yukon fans in that arena and the other guys arena in Washington.
- 3:12It's always nice when the national anthem plays and you hear that YU concient and
- 3:16felt extra special for that to happen in someone else's arena. So, you
- 3:22know, it's special to play for a program where the fans travel and the
- 3:24fans really care about each other, you know, whether we're in a completely
- 3:29different state outside of New England. So yeah, I'd say it was you
- 3:32know, super mens a lot for US players. I'd say, yeah,
- 3:36getting off to a good start matters on the road. You guys been doing
- 3:38that several times this year. I mean Villanova a big start, other games
- 3:44that you've had where you had great starts. What is the key to that?
- 3:46How does that actually happen? It's happened a number of times this year.
- 3:51Yeah. The coaches always talking about being the aggressors, especially on the
- 3:54road and the Big East, Big East environments. You got to be the
- 3:57aggressors. You got to be the ones to punch first. You know,
- 4:00when you play on the road, there's a lot of pressure on the home
- 4:02team to protect home court and to you know, win a home game in
- 4:05the Big East, which are super valuable. So being the aggressor's punching first
- 4:10and really setting the tone on how we want to play. I think that's
- 4:13the most important thing on the road. Yep. And it's been working,
- 4:16that's for sure. All right, Alex Caraban will this he is back in
- 4:18a minute. We'll continue our coverage of Yukon basketball and the Yukon Men's Basketball
- 4:23Coaches Show.
