- 0:15Hello and welcome to Arguing Ever After.
- 0:17I am Luke and this is my wife, Amber.
- 0:19Hello. Together we're the Lord and Lady
- 0:22who lock horns. The count and Countess of
- 0:24contention. The Duke and Duchess of
- 0:26Disagreement. And the king and queen of
- 0:28quarrels. In this podcast, we argue about
- 0:31all things big and small. We will use the very scientific
- 0:35method of counting your votes to determine who the winner is.
- 0:40Many of our topics are frequently submitted by our
- 0:42listeners, which we actually like and need, so if you have
- 0:46something you want us to battle about, please share it with us
- 0:49at arguingeverafter@gmail.com. All right, here we are, our
- 0:54second week into jolly season. Yeah, brought to you live by the
- 0:59one and only Mr. Missus Claus. Yeah, there you go.
- 1:03There you go. You don't feel very Missus Claus
- 1:05Y right? Now, I'm not a missus Claus, but
- 1:07that's OK. That's OK Make the best
- 1:09chocolate chip cookies though. I mean.
- 1:12Like literally they're better than any other chocolate chip
- 1:14cookies I've ever had. And that's her one deal.
- 1:17It seems like she's in all the pictures.
- 1:19She just makes cookies which is messed up.
- 1:22I like the ones where she does more stuff.
- 1:24What do you mean like that's? Like she doesn't have more of a
- 1:28role. That's sort of sad.
- 1:31I feel like she's just underrepresented.
- 1:34It's probably like all the the stories, there's very little
- 1:37given to the ladies of the story.
- 1:38Yeah, yeah, she's probably got a pretty big job, I would think,
- 1:43you know, being up there with. She is.
- 1:45I mean it. I have watched all the Christmas
- 1:47movies. I mean, maybe not all of them.
- 1:48I've watched a lot. And in a lot of the movies she's
- 1:52given serious props, like she's in charge of the elves and
- 1:56she's, you know, the in charge of the reindeer and you know,
- 2:02like there's she has a bunch of different things.
- 2:04And you know, in some of the movies she's given a little sass
- 2:07where she ought to to Old Saint Nick.
- 2:11And then there are several where she is not even in the movie.
- 2:15That's true. So I or books too a lot.
- 2:18Of it because Santa's doing a family through, you know.
- 2:22I mean, letting the people know he's.
- 2:24Around. Do you remember?
- 2:27Talking about one like about. No, the claw, the.
- 2:31Claws. The the claw, yeah, I mean,
- 2:34well, no, but clauses there's there's several I feel like that
- 2:39are where there's time at the North Pole and she is not
- 2:43involved. So I'm just saying maybe, maybe
- 2:47it's before. Maybe she left his ass.
- 2:51Wow. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:54Maybe not though. Maybe not.
- 2:56Maybe she's stuck around. Yep, Yep.
- 3:01I don't remember what I was saying there for a second.
- 3:03OK. We were talking about under
- 3:04representation for the ladies of the world in general.
- 3:08It seems to be a theme that keeps recurring because it's a
- 3:10theme. Yeah, although I bet a lot of
- 3:14our listeners don't want to think about that while they're
- 3:16thinking about the Christmas season.
- 3:19But you. Know I sure don't.
- 3:20You don't. I want.
- 3:20To think about. I know you don't.
- 3:21What do you want to think about? Christmas carols and singing and
- 3:25Christmas movies, right? And Christmas food like cookies.
- 3:29I love cookies a lot. I know you do I.
- 3:32Want a cookie right now and I'm sad that I don't have one that's
- 3:35like within arm's reach. I feel like you've talked about
- 3:37cookies in the last, you know, twice in the last, I don't know,
- 3:415 seconds or whatever it's been clearly.
- 3:43I talk about cookies when it's not Christmas.
- 3:45I I. Like cookies all year?
- 3:47Long Yeah, you do. You talk about cookies all the
- 3:49time. I like them at Christmas because
- 3:51there's even people that that's the gift.
- 3:53It's literally a cookie exchange.
- 3:55Like, hey, I baked you these cookies and you're like, you
- 3:57know what? I also baked you these cookies.
- 4:00Yeah, I mean well. It's I think more people should
- 4:02do that. Right.
- 4:03I mean, there are families who get together and they just all,
- 4:05I, I know people who are dozens upon dozens of cookies that
- 4:09they're making and they're sharing and they're going home
- 4:11with like 400 cookies. Let's go to their house this
- 4:15year. I I don't need that many
- 4:17cookies. I do.
- 4:19No you. You probably don't either.
- 4:21You. Let me be the judge of what I
- 4:23need. I'll take your share and my
- 4:28share. Yeah, well, that's fine, because
- 4:30I don't think I could do that many cookies.
- 4:33But but we were talking about Missus Claus being in movies or
- 4:37not being in movies. Oh, that's true.
- 4:40And that just actually brought us to part of our discussion.
- 4:44And we knew we were going to have this discussion a while
- 4:48ago. And one of the things that for
- 4:53Luke, like, I don't know, November 1st starts asking, can
- 4:57we start watching Christmas movies?
- 5:00So not about. November.
- 5:02It's so early, you're like. Probably like November 3rd.
- 5:06It's real early and I just I'm frequently.
- 5:09It's Day of the Dead is November 1st and 2nd.
- 5:12OK, so you wait until after that.
- 5:14Yeah, the the next weekend. And The thing is like you have
- 5:19your favorite movies and or not movies, your regular movies.
- 5:23Yeah, movies that you watch year over year over year.
- 5:27And I think I did, I mean, I did too rowing up.
- 5:31I have some that I think are, you know, this is Christmas
- 5:33time. This is what we watch and and in
- 5:38preparation for this, even though you asked me about a
- 5:41month ago to start watching Christmas movies, I very
- 5:43recently started watching I guess 1 Christmas movie.
- 5:47But I think about like when I was young, the thing like that
- 5:51would start. Christmas would be white
- 5:53Christmas. Such a good show.
- 5:56Movie. Whatever you want to.
- 5:59Call it. Feels more like a show when you
- 6:01watch it. Well, I mean, I guess it it is
- 6:03sometimes on stage and stuff. So I'd.
- 6:05See that one time if you wanted to bring me?
- 6:08I'm sure you would. I think you could also.
- 6:11You could also bring yourself you.
- 6:14Don't even want to go to. Me.
- 6:16No, because here's the thing, Bing Crosby is White Christmas
- 6:20and if I were to go see a live show?
- 6:23It wouldn't be Bing Crosby. No, no.
- 6:26He's dead. Well, Chuck, my opportunity's
- 6:30lost. No, he's definitely dead.
- 6:32He's not alive. He's definitely, definitely
- 6:35dead, but I I think I would have a hard time because either the
- 6:40either the singer's going to try to make the songs their own or
- 6:45try to sing like Bing Crosby. Both are wrong.
- 6:48This. Is just not true because we want
- 6:51to grease. And you weren't all mad that it
- 6:54wasn't Olivia Newton John and John Travolta.
- 6:57You just enjoyed the production. The truth here is Mrs. Grinch
- 7:00Mcgrincherton is it's a Christmas movie and you don't
- 7:04want to go see a Christmas show. That's the truth.
- 7:08I have seen Christmas. Shows Halloween.
- 7:10I bet you if it was a what's it called?
- 7:14The one that's Halloween turns into Christmas later.
- 7:17Nightmare before Christmas. I bet you would want to see that
- 7:20on stage. No, that doesn't even make
- 7:21sense. How could you do that on stage?
- 7:24Would you want to go see Sweeney Todd?
- 7:26Yes, that's different though. Halloween.
- 7:30Oh, Sweeney Todd is not Halloween at all.
- 7:32Because. It's I'm just saying what?
- 7:34You're not what? You can't steal my my show
- 7:37anymore. You know, listen, we're going
- 7:40back to Christmas. I didn't bring up either of
- 7:42those things that you did. No, no, no, no, no.
- 7:46I and I was there. I mean start.
- 7:48Singing. Oh, please don't.
- 7:50Nope, Nope, Nope. You're not.
- 7:52You're not being Crosby. And OK, this is just, I'm sorry.
- 7:56It's not fair to the listeners. You're right, you're right.
- 7:59I apologize to all you listeners if I sounded bad.
- 8:01If I sounded good though, I'm not sorry at all.
- 8:04Well, you know, I mean, everyone has the right to their own
- 8:07opinion, but so that is a movie that when I I had always felt
- 8:14was like a classic or really important one.
- 8:18But I wanted to do a little bit of research because I feel like
- 8:22we get in a Christmas movie rut. Rut.
- 8:28Yes, where it's so that's not. Possible.
- 8:30I just want to point out. Where it's always the same.
- 8:32And one of the things I have issues with in my life today,
- 8:35there are very few movies I want to watch more than once.
- 8:38OK, most the time I'm like, it's just it's, it's known, you know,
- 8:45I mean, I get that there is nostalgia for people on
- 8:47Christmas movies, but like, I want to see about other ones.
- 8:53So, you know, in preparation for this episode and the fact that
- 8:58we battle over things, I had done some basic Googling.
- 9:02And I've heard about this in the past, but like, I just needed to
- 9:05know what I needed to know as a professional disagreer.
- 9:14I needed to know why everyone has such strong opinions on the
- 9:20movie Die Hard. It's because people like to be
- 9:25argumentative. That's.
- 9:27Well, of OK. Go ahead, I'm ready to hear it.
- 9:29Let's. Hear what you have to say about
- 9:31it. So the question people have is
- 9:33it's. Not a question.
- 9:36The nobody has this question. The only people that had this
- 9:38question. I can't even get the question
- 9:40out. OK, go ahead.
- 9:41The argument people have is that some people say it's a Christmas
- 9:44movie and some people say it is not a Christmas movie.
- 9:48Now I figured seeing that I've never seen the movie until this
- 9:53exact year in our year 2025. Here we go.
- 9:57I would have a completely unbiased opinion because I
- 10:01wouldn't have the opinion of when, you know, growing up
- 10:03watching the movie and having it be that thing.
- 10:06You could just watch it as a complete outsider and do real
- 10:10scientific research. And so I did.
- 10:14I watched it 2 days ago and when I think Christmas movie you have
- 10:20to have like Christmas stuff in it to be a Christmas movie.
- 10:23You're being so gross right now. In the first before like the in
- 10:28the 1st 5 minutes before the open credits even happened, I
- 10:33counted the word Christmas five times being said and in the
- 10:40movie I then continued to count throughout the movie to see how
- 10:44many times they would say the word Christmas and not like just
- 10:48in like Christmas songs, like the actual actors were saying
- 10:52Christmas, Merry Christmas, all of those things and it was 17
- 10:56times in the movie. Nobody cares.
- 10:59I care, move on. Nope.
- 11:01What do you mean nobody cares? You don't care cuz.
- 11:03You're trying to make a stupid, stupid argument, aren't you?
- 11:07You're gonna, are you gonna say that it's a Christmas movie?
- 11:10And then I say, what else is in Christmas movies?
- 11:13Lord is Christmas carols and the only music in the entire movie.
- 11:20I want to be like grumpy old men in here, just hot noises at you
- 11:24with my mouth. Hold on to them, the only music
- 11:30played in that movie was Christmas songs.
- 11:33So you know what? I agree with those who are
- 11:36calling it a Christmas movie. Die Hard is in fact a Christmas
- 11:43movie. It is settled debate over,
- 11:47debate over and if you. Sleeping in another bed tonight.
- 11:52And if you're unsure, just. Debate settled.
- 11:55Hold on a second. This isn't our fight.
- 11:57This is the great debate of. This is this needs to be
- 12:02addressed. This.
- 12:03Cannot. This cannot go unanswered.
- 12:06This is not listen, hold on a second.
- 12:09No, I said no. Christmas movie is a genre of
- 12:16movie, not a quantity of name said of Christmas or Santa or
- 12:23Kris Kringle or Mr. and Missus Claus or Jingle Bells or who
- 12:27gives a what Like it doesn't matter if they sang the whole
- 12:31litany of Christmas carols in the movie if it's not a
- 12:34Christmas movie, which is a genre.
- 12:38Listen, I'm going to get 2 votes for this episode because you
- 12:41brought that horrible, horrible argument up.
- 12:45It's an action movie, action movie.
- 12:49There's not another genre for it.
- 12:52And I'm just going to say this one time because I swear to God,
- 12:55if you try to make this one of our debates, it's I'm going to
- 12:58lose my ever. Loving mind it's not.
- 13:01That is not a Christmas movie. It has never been a Christmas
- 13:05movie. It will never be a Christmas
- 13:09movie because it's a genre. A Christmas movie requires there
- 13:15to be. That's the story.
- 13:18It's a Christmas story which is about or near Christmas, and
- 13:25somehow or another, in every friggin one of them, the
- 13:29Christmas spirit prevails. And that movie is an action
- 13:35movie. Are you shouting?
- 13:37I'm shouting because I'm passionate about Christmas.
- 13:40OK, but how? What?
- 13:40OK, OK. And they have volume knobs.
- 13:43The I'm sorry y'all, I get a little heated because I love me
- 13:47some Christmas and I absolutely hate that people think that that
- 13:51movie is a Christmas movie. It's not a Christmas movie.
- 13:54It is a Christmas movie. The hell it ain't.
- 13:56Yes it is. And here's the thing.
- 13:58We would change the topic because this is going to be the
- 14:01one 1/2 hour. Episode It might be It might be
- 14:04because it is a I'm telling you it is a Christmas movie based.
- 14:08On see the doctor later, you're taking me to the hospital for a
- 14:11heart. Condition.
- 14:11That's fine. Listen, just because you don't
- 14:13like how it works? Oh, OK, Wait a second, wait,
- 14:17wait a second. So what?
- 14:21What makes it not besides the fact that it's action?
- 14:26Why do you say it can't be a Christmas movie and be action?
- 14:31Because it's a genre. I understand.
- 14:35This movie is not any movie that happens to be Christmas
- 14:41referencing or Christmas song in the background or that's not
- 14:48what makes a Christmas movie. A Christmas movie is part of the
- 14:51genre of Christmas. You want to know what it is
- 14:55TuneIn to Hallmark anytime after November, who knows?
- 14:5815th, I don't know when they start.
- 14:59Every one of those movies is a Christmas movie 'cause it's
- 15:04about the Christmas spirit which boils down to love, and that is
- 15:09the truth. OK.
- 15:11Because it's not. The Christmas movie as a genre
- 15:17is made to like do the whole like the warm fuzzy ending where
- 15:24everyone is happy and everything's all good and like
- 15:29Santa save the day or whatever the whatever the cake or the
- 15:32spirit of Christmas brought a family together.
- 15:36It's all it's like that's the whole point of the movie.
- 15:39The message is love and forgiveness and and harmony and
- 15:46family. That's like, that's like the
- 15:49reason for the season, as they say.
- 15:51It's the reason for those types of movies.
- 15:54So when you put an action movie into it and it's like bombs and
- 15:57explosions and guns and like I just.
- 15:59Don't. OK, so based on this you would
- 16:01say Jingle all the Way is not a Christmas movie.
- 16:03OK, that sounds fun. The other.
- 16:06Probably red Santa and the and L Gibson was in one too that
- 16:09wasn't red Santa. OK, what was that?
- 16:14OK, so now we're going to talk about a couple other Christmas
- 16:17movies. Since you can't.
- 16:18It's not going to be just about Die Hard.
- 16:21The well, yours also involved in this conversation.
- 16:24Sir, but you're bringing volatility.
- 16:26I'm going to bring another one and The thing is like I'm going
- 16:29to bring two more. OK, OK, OK, so Jingle all the
- 16:34way you said no, I will say you or you don't know because it's
- 16:37been a long time since you saw it.
- 16:39Jingle All the Way was made in our home state.
- 16:42Did they have was was it about Christmas?
- 16:44I don't really remember, but I remember being a big deal.
- 16:48Another one that was made in our home state that has the love and
- 16:52forgiveness factor but also funny.
- 16:57And I know I already know what you're going to say, but I like
- 17:00it a lot. But it was made in our home
- 17:03state. Grumpy old men.
- 17:06That's not a Christmas. Movie It's around Christmas
- 17:09time. Well, that doesn't just make it
- 17:11a Christmas. Movie.
- 17:12I kind of feel like it does. Why?
- 17:14Because I wouldn't and. Would OK then by default?
- 17:17Would every Spring movie be an Easter movie?
- 17:20No, because Easter and spring are two different things.
- 17:25Christmas. And action are two different
- 17:27things. No, no, no, no, no.
- 17:30You can have Christmas and action together and you can
- 17:34have, I guess, spring and Easter together, but that doesn't make
- 17:38all movies, Easter movies and does make all.
- 17:40What did you? Have for an action movie that
- 17:42was around. Easter.
- 17:44Sure, it's an Easter movie. Why not come?
- 17:46Off it. Why not?
- 17:48Oh, why not? OK, let's make this the topic of
- 17:50everything, because you're going to lose every time.
- 17:53No, I. Are you serious?
- 17:54Right. Now this isn't it doesn't even
- 17:56matter. I don't know why you're getting
- 17:57so freaking out of. Every movie sort has filmed in
- 18:01the summer. A 4th of July movie now.
- 18:03What? OK, you're you.
- 18:05You aren't even making any. You're.
- 18:06Just people that think this is the claim everybody makes.
- 18:10You're like, well there was Christmas trees in the movie.
- 18:12Like that doesn't make it a Christmas movie.
- 18:14Bring it. On OK, I don't know why you're
- 18:17so like you can't. You're close minded, Luke.
- 18:21You are so close minded that it can only be seen your way.
- 18:26Correct pronunciation of that is I'm correct.
- 18:34So another one you and I have argued about over the years, OK,
- 18:37and absolutely have argued about and we've brought other people
- 18:41into and it is also a split decision by the people we've
- 18:44brought into. It's Gremlins.
- 18:46Count. Well, gremlins.
- 18:49Listen to OK, it's a good thing this is not all that we Let's
- 18:52go, OK? That is not a Christmas.
- 18:54It's a Christmas. Are you kidding?
- 18:56Me. Oh my gosh, yes, it's a
- 18:58Christmas movie. The.
- 18:59Guy wants to go get a Christmas tree and it's around Christmas
- 19:02and OK. I don't you don't remember the
- 19:04story. Maybe I don't, maybe I haven't
- 19:06seen it because you started saying some crazy stuff like
- 19:08it's a Christmas movie. There's a bunch of.
- 19:10Creepy mob boy. That that turn from a cute
- 19:13little cutesy thing and you get it wet or something.
- 19:15Or turn into a light bulb on it and it turns into a gremlin.
- 19:18A little demon alligator mixed with a bat.
- 19:22Yeah, it's what? But that's not cool just
- 19:25because. OK, I.
- 19:26Wait, does it end with all the happiness and all the joy and
- 19:29Santa Claus saves the day? I don't remember Santa Claus
- 19:32saving the day because Santa Claus doesn't save the day.
- 19:35Do all the. Gremlins die.
- 19:38They can't because there's like a 2.
- 19:39And a three. But he was bought as a gift for
- 19:46his son for Christmas. Like the huh?
- 19:49Like and then he turned into a demon.
- 19:51No, he didn't. What?
- 19:53Was all of the other ones turned into demons?
- 19:56I don't. He didn't, you know, he was
- 19:57always a good one. I don't go back to those movies,
- 19:59but I go back to the Christmas ones because that's not a
- 20:02Christmas movie. I think I.
- 20:04Will die on this hill like he. Paint.
- 20:06I know you're going to and I'm fine.
- 20:08I'm fine if you die on this hill.
- 20:10I'm just saying that it's OK to open your mind to other
- 20:13possibilities that could be included that maybe.
- 20:16Is open, just not about what's a Christmas movie because you're
- 20:20trying to. That doesn't listen.
- 20:22That doesn't mean I'm close minded first of all.
- 20:24That just means I disagree. That's not the same thing.
- 20:30About about Christmas movies. It does mean that you're close
- 20:33minded or it doesn't. Because then you're suggest.
- 20:35So are you suggesting that I'm close minded because I don't
- 20:38want to allow in all the movies that happen to have some element
- 20:42of Christmas in the movie are then by default Christmas movies
- 20:46like Gremlins and Diehard and Dingle all the way and pick a
- 20:49who cares title? So you're saying my close
- 20:52mindedness is The problem is I don't think those are all
- 20:55Christmas movies. Good, I'm going to die on this
- 20:57hill. Yeah, alone and sad because.
- 21:01With my friends who agree with me because I'm.
- 21:03Right. No, because.
- 21:04Here's get them in the hundreds. Are you kidding me?
- 21:08Because here's the thing that I've I've over the years, when
- 21:10we've talked about Christmas movies is you're like, I can
- 21:13only watch the same Christmas movies.
- 21:15That's. Why I can watch the same like
- 21:17dozen. It's just there's not enough.
- 21:19There's not enough free time in the month of December with our
- 21:22work schedules and our kid at school for us to all watch the
- 21:27movie. I barely have enough time to
- 21:28watch TV anymore. Right.
- 21:30My point is like you're not the only person who's watching the
- 21:33movie, so if you want others. To any of them so.
- 21:36Right, because there's other options, so my.
- 21:39For Christmas movies, there's not.
- 21:41Yeah, like, oh. You want to put Die Hard in the
- 21:43in. The no, what I'm saying is allow
- 21:45other people to try to find a way that they can get into like,
- 21:49hey, this would be interesting to me and it's Christmas themed.
- 21:53Oh. That's fine.
- 21:53We look every year and try to find stuff.
- 21:56No, but they're only allowing what you're OK with what?
- 21:58Has to be a Christmas movie. That's and that doesn't sound
- 22:03close minded to you. It has to be within your
- 22:05definition. Yeah, I'd love to hear it.
- 22:09During October. Yeah.
- 22:12Do you want to watch movies that aren't Halloween?
- 22:18Sure. Bull flop.
- 22:22Are you sure? No, you do not.
- 22:24I live in this house. I surely am willing to watch
- 22:27movies with the. Family.
- 22:28No, you ain't. But I.
- 22:30No, you ain't. 100% I'm willing to.
- 22:32Would we watch this? I don't remember the whole month
- 22:35of October. You don't remember.
- 22:37OK, OK. But I'm sure we watched comedies
- 22:40that weren't Halloween. I'm sure we watched.
- 22:42I'd love to hear a list of them. Well, how many movies do we
- 22:45usually watch like so for It's there.
- 22:47One or two a month. Precisely.
- 22:50Yeah, precisely. So that's.
- 22:52What we're gonna watch in December?
- 22:53A Christmas movie. That's Christmas Eve.
- 22:55I'm just. You know what I watched in
- 22:57October? At least two or three scary
- 23:00movies. I didn't even want to watch
- 23:01them. I'm not saying that you can't
- 23:04watch other movies. Like here's the difference, as
- 23:07you're saying, and I didn't say then you can't watch other
- 23:11movies. You're saying the only options
- 23:14are what you find to be Christmas movies.
- 23:17That is not inclusive to everyone else who's watching the
- 23:20movies. And that's what I'm saying.
- 23:24I'm. I'm OK with that.
- 23:26Great. Do you know and that sounds open
- 23:28minded to you? No, it's not.
- 23:31It's not about that. It's OK.
- 23:34To your point, there's only so many hours in the day.
- 23:36There's only so much time in a week that we can sit down
- 23:39together as a family. So it's important that we do
- 23:43that. Yeah.
- 23:44And we do a pretty good job. But actually I would say and
- 23:47have for years since I don't know, a long, long time.
- 23:49I mean, here we are been buried over 20 years.
- 23:52Yeah, so the the Christmas movies for me are much like when
- 23:59I don't know if I lost a bed or why.
- 24:00It probably was for the podcast. It was for the podcast.
- 24:03See. I said I will do it for you.
- 24:05Yeah, I'll watch scary movies. I don't even like scary movies.
- 24:08No, I know you don't. And you, like, gave me a list
- 24:12and I said, I don't know, they're all terrifying.
- 24:16And then we watched like 3 out of the five or four out of the,
- 24:19I don't even remember how many. We watched a lot of scary
- 24:21movies. Yeah.
- 24:23And you know why I did that? Because it was October.
- 24:26It was spooky month. And it made sense, right?
- 24:29And now you're suggesting that in December, which is my holiday
- 24:35that I love for the joy, warmth and spirit of the season, for
- 24:40apple cider and cookies and singing and all that magic and
- 24:44Santa Claus and all of it. You're suggesting that I deviate
- 24:49from the theme of a Christmas movie, which there's a literally
- 24:53endless titles for that fit inside the genre, many of which
- 24:58both me and our daughter enjoy and we watch something.
- 25:03Else yeah, why my? Goodness, the self involvement
- 25:07must be just amazing. What?
- 25:11How can you think that that's OK?
- 25:13Wow, just coming you. You're like literally the Grinch
- 25:17living above. No, no, no, I'm saying trying
- 25:20to. Come down into Whoville and
- 25:22Steve, heal all the Grinch, no? Oh, I'm saying open your mind to
- 25:27beyond the 10 movies you watch every year to something
- 25:30different. OK, I could add another 10.
- 25:32You ain't gonna like any of them.
- 25:34There are, as you said, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and I
- 25:37get everybody has their own that they are like very like this
- 25:42must happen every year and that's fine.
- 25:44And we actually kind of probably all have our own that we like
- 25:48the best, but. What's your favorite?
- 25:52That's going to be our big question.
- 25:54Boom. Yeah.
- 25:56Let's listen. I'm just.
- 25:58I can't believe. I cannot believe that you're, if
- 26:01you're trying to say that we ought to not watch a Christmas
- 26:04movie, we ought to watch something that's an action movie
- 26:06or a fill in the blank. You could pick another genre.
- 26:10There's action is a genre. Horror is a genre.
- 26:13Yeah, yeah, I'd love to. Oh, I'd love to watch that one.
- 26:17Yeah, yeah. You know what?
- 26:19You know what you should get for your birthday?
- 26:21A vacation. That's what you should get.
- 26:24Mm hmm. Get out of here.
- 26:25I think that that's true. I should get a vacation.
- 26:28You're coming up out of here like I get.
- 26:30I should. I don't disagree with you about
- 26:32that. Tell you and the audience right
- 26:34now you're part of my Christmas. I know part of.
- 26:38The reason I feel joy in the world is because you're in it
- 26:42with me. Yeah.
- 26:43Here and present. But I am not your accessory.
- 26:49I'm also here like remember Luke and the world I also in the.
- 26:54Last episode you said you you played along and supported.
- 26:57Me. I do.
- 26:59Did I say I? Don't like it today?
- 27:00Did I say you can't? Today, it sounds like you want
- 27:03to support yourself. No, I literally did not say you
- 27:07can't watch Christmas movies, did I?
- 27:08You said I got to watch something else.
- 27:10I said, could you try one other thing?
- 27:13Yeah, I'll give you a list just like you gave me in October.
- 27:16How's that sound for the podcast?
- 27:18OK, great, let's find something other than the exact same genre.
- 27:22Genre. Hold on.
- 27:23I don't know what that term means.
- 27:25Christmas. Is the genre OK just to be
- 27:28because you gave me the horror? Was this genre horror?
- 27:32I and. I get scared so easily, Horror.
- 27:36And I watched them for you and I said it's Christmas month, we've
- 27:40decorated our house and so has everybody else.
- 27:43And you said let's pick another genre.
- 27:46No, like something outside of the exact same story.
- 27:50I'd like it's always the same story.
- 27:52And that for me, I watch how many movies?
- 27:56Like I think that here's the difference.
- 27:57You're acting like I'm taking away something from you, I'm
- 28:00saying. Would that would that bother
- 28:03you? Would it bother you to sacrifice
- 28:06one movie to Oh It? Wouldn't bother me.
- 28:10I no I'd. Sacrifice plenty.
- 28:13Literally you've been complaining because I'm saying
- 28:16could one movie. One month out of the year.
- 28:18One movie a whole month. For Christmas.
- 28:20A whole month. Yeah, which really boils down to
- 28:23if we're being real about stupid work schedules and being adults,
- 28:26it's like 4 days. Right.
- 28:29I'm saying in the spirit of giving, not just receiving.
- 28:33OK, Yeah, OK. The other movies that we watch,
- 28:37I don't actually want to watch all of the Christmas movies.
- 28:40But I do support you in your period of joy, right?
- 28:44Doesn't sound like it. Because I'm asking to just have
- 28:47one. This isn't the big question and
- 28:50I think that when you look back upon this.
- 28:53Yesterday you just got heat, heat and more heat.
- 28:55No, I don't. It's coming provocative out of
- 28:57here. You just came out the gate.
- 28:59Like I got a couple of javelins I'm going to throw right at you.
- 29:03Let's you're not attacked, you're not attacked.
- 29:06I am certain I'm asking for you to allow others within the
- 29:09space. There's a huge difference.
- 29:11Huge difference. You're going to have to prove to
- 29:14this audience that you're not just a sour puss.
- 29:16I don't think that they've heard that if they've listened,
- 29:18they've only heard that you are only about what you want.
- 29:21Maybe they'll find some. Of for the month of December.
- 29:25You know what the another theme of this the Christmas movies is?
- 29:28Redemption. Maybe you can redeem yourself
- 29:30today. Oh, I think this is hilarious
- 29:33thing. Maybe.
- 29:34I feel like maybe you can't, you know how you're.
- 29:36The one that's gonna die on the hill, You went all the way up on
- 29:38the hill. You were like, yeah, try to die
- 29:41on it. Come.
- 29:42No, come on with it. No, no, no.
- 29:44I don't think I'm dying on a hill by saying, hey, maybe it
- 29:47doesn't just need to be about what you want the whole time.
- 29:50Like just maybe. I don't let that.
- 29:53Argument fly I'm you clearly aren't terrible argument clearly
- 29:56you can't handle it so. Traditions are important.
- 30:00I understand you want. To talk about traditions, can we
- 30:02change the topic? Just for.
- 30:04Just for a minute. Sure, what tradition you want to
- 30:06talk? About just traditions in general
- 30:10and their value. I know, but I think maybe we
- 30:11talk about that next episode because, Oh my goodness, on this
- 30:14episode we are talking about movies.
- 30:17And Luke, let me ask you a question.
- 30:21Man, if you're watching this video you can see me struggling.
- 30:24Right now it's struggling. You know what?
- 30:27You want to ask me a question? I do.
- 30:30Ladies and gentlemen, this is the moment you've all been
- 30:34waiting for and I have been waiting for as well because it
- 30:37changed the topic just a little bit.
- 30:40In this corner, we have definitely not Missus Claus.
- 30:45Claiming to weigh in. At a 135 lbs who has red hair
- 30:50and a green shirt. But it's ain't it's not
- 30:52Christmas. No, it ain't.
- 30:54Here's Amber Pet, Al. And in this shouting corner, I
- 30:59apologize for those of you who've had your eardrums blown
- 31:03out. So hot I gotta take my shirt.
- 31:04Off is Luke weighing in at 185 plus?
- 31:09I think the other reason he's heated is because we checked out
- 31:12our wins and loss categories and currently he has won seven,
- 31:19we've tied 4 and I have won eight.
- 31:23So he's really also coming in on that too.
- 31:26So what did I say? I said let me ask you a
- 31:28question. And I'm a little heated because
- 31:31it's been a long day today, man, I was plowing, snowing the
- 31:35bobcat all day at work. Wow, no one else worked.
- 31:40Today, No, we did though. Then we went.
- 31:42I'm sorry. You can ask me a question.
- 31:44Go ahead, Go ahead. You want to ask a question?
- 31:46Let's. Do it.
- 31:46Do you want to talk about what we did today?
- 31:48Oh, we went to, we went to local charity.
- 31:51Yep. And we?
- 31:54Packaged. Yeah.
- 31:55I guess it was technically a charity, yeah.
- 31:57It's 100%. It is a charity.
- 31:59Yeah, we went to a local charity and we packaged meals for
- 32:03starving children of the world. With our daughter's Girl Scout
- 32:06troop. And it was great.
- 32:07Yeah, it was great. I actually felt, you know what?
- 32:09I got some Christmas carols. I was singing a little bit while
- 32:12I was carrying heavy stuff. Yeah, I broke a sweat, which
- 32:15felt good. So we did some good, some good
- 32:19today. Yeah, I think it's really cool
- 32:21that her troupe organized that because I don't know if on my
- 32:25own I'd be like, great on a random day in the middle of the
- 32:28week. That's something I want to do.
- 32:29But it feels good to certainly do something outside of our
- 32:33self. And to recognize how like overly
- 32:40blessed. We Oh yeah.
- 32:41Yeah, a lot. Indulged our lives.
- 32:45Are. And how richly we're rewarded
- 32:50for the work we do, that we're able to live lives that would be
- 32:55unimaginable to so many people in the world.
- 32:58Yeah, we need our help. True.
- 33:00True, so I would recommend anyone to get out there and
- 33:02volunteer and do some good in the world.
- 33:06Yeah, I agree. I agree Luke needed that little
- 33:09bit of a tone down because the big question Still a little warm
- 33:12I know and I can't wait to rewatch.
- 33:17I don't want to. Luke, given that it is your
- 33:23favorite season of the year and given that we've been talking
- 33:28about movies, the big question, the big question is what is your
- 33:36favorite Christmas as however you define Christmas movie?
- 33:43It makes me think you're going to say something that's not even
- 33:46a Christmas movie. And I'm like, I'm not thrilled
- 33:50about it. My favorite Christmas movie is
- 33:53actually a Christmas movie. I didn't do any research because
- 33:58I don't feel like I need to, but I would venture to say that this
- 34:01particular Christmas movie, which became an instant classic,
- 34:06it's probably like one of the most heavily watched every year.
- 34:12I actually don't know. But but if you would say it
- 34:16enough, it'll be a 5. I would put it in like the top
- 34:19five categories. Probably I'd agree with that.
- 34:22This movie, I'm wearing the T-shirt which says actually I'm
- 34:27human, but I was raised by elves, and it's a story about
- 34:32Buddy the Elf, who was born in New York City.
- 34:36Yeah. And he was in an orphanage.
- 34:40Yeah. And Santa Claus came to give the
- 34:43kids presents and Little Buddy crawled into Santa's present bag
- 34:49and was whisked off to the North Pole at the age of like 2 or
- 34:53something. And then he was raised in the
- 34:55North Pole. Yeah.
- 34:57And he was bigger than all the else.
- 35:00Yes. And he struggled a little bit
- 35:02with that. But he could change all the
- 35:05batteries in the smoke detectors.
- 35:08That's true. He could reach them.
- 35:10Yeah. And Papa Elf was adorable.
- 35:17Trained him in some of the stuff about Santa's slave.
- 35:21This Papa Elf was the slave mechanic and the movie, if you
- 35:27haven't seen it, it's I highly recommend it, especially if you
- 35:30love Christmas. I don't want to give away all of
- 35:34it, but it's, you know, it's like 25 years old.
- 35:36So I don't, you know, I'm not really that worried about
- 35:38spoilers. He, he comes to New York City,
- 35:43Buddy the Elf does because he wants to meet his real dad and
- 35:45his real dad's a real Grinchy, Scroogy fella.
- 35:52More scroogy than Grinchy And Buddy the elf is Buddy the Elf.
- 35:57He was raised by elves. He grew up with Santa Claus.
- 36:01He was making toys for the whole world.
- 36:03So he is the Christmas spirit embodied.
- 36:06I mean, he walks around in a elf suit, he sings Christmas carols
- 36:11all the time. He's trying to decorate every
- 36:14Christmas tree and he's telling everyone good job and high 5 and
- 36:19and you're like the people in the office.
- 36:22You're doing a great job, Brenda.
- 36:24He's just super positive the whole movie, which is one of the
- 36:27reasons everyone loves him. And then ends up saving the day
- 36:32because Santa Claus needs a little Christmas spirit.
- 36:36And Buddy the Elf gets a bunch of people to sing Christmas
- 36:38carols and Santa Claus takes off to give presents to the rest of
- 36:44the kids and it's only because of Buddy.
- 36:47Now that movie is wonderful because the like there's like
- 36:53part of it is he's like the good guy, so to speak, but the bad
- 36:59guy is like anti Christmas grouchy, which is his dad I.
- 37:07Don't think he's the bad guy. But he he's not, he's not a bad
- 37:10person. Well, but he was on the naughty
- 37:14list. I know, but then, but then he he
- 37:17turned around a little bit at the end.
- 37:21I guess the the Park Rangers at Central Park are part of the
- 37:27bad. Guys too, they were also on the
- 37:29Santa. Yeah, they were also on the
- 37:30naughty list. Yeah.
- 37:33But part of the reason that movie is so great is just the
- 37:37the pure positivity and love that Buddy the elf radiates
- 37:42throughout the movie. And it's hilarious because Will
- 37:47Ferrell is a hilarious actor and he has a lot of really funny
- 37:51things that he does in the movie and a lot of funny jokes that he
- 37:54says, like the four made food groups are.
- 37:58I think it's like, is it? Candy.
- 38:02Candy canes. Candy corn candy.
- 38:04Corns and syrup yes, those are the four main food groups and
- 38:08then he makes a plate of spaghetti which has candy, candy
- 38:11canes, candy corns and syrup on the spaghetti I.
- 38:14Think he had fruit loops in it too.
- 38:16M&M's. Yeah, it was something.
- 38:18And then he was eating it and he said this is delicious.
- 38:22It was anyway. So that movie is super
- 38:27hilarious. I laugh at all the same jokes
- 38:30every year because they're funny every year, but I don't watch
- 38:33them but once a year. So there's still a little bit
- 38:36like I forget the little bits and pieces of the movie because
- 38:39you know, it fades out. You see it once a year.
- 38:41So you don't, I don't remember every line.
- 38:44I remember the big funny ones, but I don't remember all the
- 38:47dialogue in between. So I get that sort of renewed.
- 38:51And there's some scenes that are always great, like when are you
- 38:53saying goodbye to the, I don't know, you know, I think it's
- 38:56like a walrus and a snowman or something in the North Pole
- 39:00that's always fun to re watch. And I don't know, there's just
- 39:05the, the joy in that movie. It gets me in the fields every
- 39:10time. Every time.
- 39:13Just thinking about the movie and talking about it made me
- 39:15feel good, and I was feeling pretty bad before.
- 39:18I was feeling like you were trying to take Christmas from
- 39:20me. I'm.
- 39:21Not doing that I. Just felt bad.
- 39:23And so now I feel a little better, thanks to Buddy the Elf.
- 39:27Yeah, and the true joy of Christmas.
- 39:31And you already argued that Christmas wasn't even the best
- 39:33holiday. Sure.
- 39:36You that's the that's old news, though.
- 39:39I should have brought it up anyway.
- 39:40This this is about. What's your favorite?
- 39:45A Christmas movie? And then they're gonna vote on
- 39:47whichever one they agree with. Yes.
- 39:49So I'm saying Buddy the Elf in the movie Elf, also oddly
- 39:56directed by Jon Favreau. I don't know if you know.
- 39:58Who that is? I don't know.
- 39:59Who that? Is but he like did a lot of The
- 40:02Avengers in Iron Man. Oh gosh, other movies I didn't
- 40:05watch. I mean, I've watched.
- 40:06I clearly I have watched Elf about a gazillion times.
- 40:11Yep. So I'm, I'm very familiar with
- 40:13that movie. So I guess I am familiar with
- 40:15his work. I'm familiar with that movie.
- 40:17I've seen it probably enough times that I could actually act
- 40:21out the entire movie. You know how many?
- 40:24Times do you think you've seen it?
- 40:25Oh God, you got. Many.
- 40:26How many years has it been out? At least once a year since it's
- 40:30been out. I've watched it every year.
- 40:32Since yes, we have This is a movie.
- 40:33This is one of those movies you have to watch every year along
- 40:36with The Grinch. That's a great movie.
- 40:40Oh God, it's it was great the first time.
- 40:44The second time it was OK. Oh I love that.
- 40:47Unpopular opinion with the youth is that I prefer the Jim Carrey
- 40:51version and they prefer the cartoon version with but the
- 40:55Carrey version. Was.
- 40:56Great. But I also, I've seen it enough
- 40:59times and I don't need to see it again, but I'm sure I will watch
- 41:03it again because it's something you like to watch and I do for
- 41:07you on in the Christmas month. We have a kid.
- 41:12I don't think you would if. That's not true.
- 41:14We watched all of If you think about when the Grinch came out
- 41:18and how old our child is and you do the math backwards, guess
- 41:21what? OK, we watched it before she
- 41:24was. Born get to prove it all over
- 41:25again. So, OK, so that's that's your
- 41:29movie. It's definitely it's yours.
- 41:32Say you know you're sneaking up on me again.
- 41:34No, I'm not. You say that I do that and
- 41:36y'all, he just likes to do this to get you all revved up.
- 41:39I actually give him information all the time.
- 41:42I let him know a couple except for one time.
- 41:46I've let him know what I was thinking.
- 41:48Now sometimes time, yes, yes, at the live show I did not give you
- 41:54that information because I hadn't decided.
- 41:56Now, I did let you know prior to today and today, No, I think I
- 42:01told you today what I was choosing, but I'll let you know
- 42:03prior to today what I had been between.
- 42:07You knew that. So I think I do know that.
- 42:09OK, what? So what I had been between is a
- 42:14movie that you've told me is not a Christmas movie, but I enjoy
- 42:18watching it at Christmas time. Gremlins.
- 42:23Not a Christmas. Movie and the other one that I
- 42:28enjoy watching Home alone. It's a great Christmas movie.
- 42:34It's an action movie in many ways, literally comedy.
- 42:41All sorts of things are happening in the movie.
- 42:43It's got everything, son. Of action.
- 42:46It's got everything, comedy, action, all sorts of things.
- 42:52They're they're getting hit in the head with paint jars and
- 42:55things like that. I mean, like, I don't think you
- 42:56get to, you don't get to take away all the things from Home
- 42:59Alone that make it specifically a very unique Christmas movie.
- 43:04You don't get to pull that away from them because Macaulay
- 43:08Culkin, Evan. McAllister.
- 43:11Yeah, I mean, and like his mom, all of these big name actors,
- 43:15like what? Pesci, you know, Pesci and the
- 43:18mom, Kath, what is her name? Cathy.
- 43:22Cathy, See. Her red lips.
- 43:24Catherine red hair. She's Catherine something.
- 43:28She's awesome. She's in.
- 43:29She's such a great actress. Yeah, she's Beetlejuice.
- 43:32She's in. What is that other show I really
- 43:36like with the the the I I don't know.
- 43:41It doesn't matter about the hotel.
- 43:43I love the TV show anyhow. She's really, really funny.
- 43:47She's in it and what I like about there's so many things.
- 43:53It was so it was such a refreshing different holiday
- 43:58movie when it came out for me, right like. 4 When did it come
- 44:04out? No, it had to be earlier than
- 44:05that. I don't know, cuz it definitely
- 44:08had to be earlier than that. But like also the things that
- 44:13are in that movie, some of it is so unique to that time, things
- 44:18that wouldn't happen anymore, but would totally happen back
- 44:22then when we were kids at that age, right?
- 44:24Like, think about sure. You know, I mean, like Macaulay
- 44:27Culkin going to the grocery store with a grocery list and
- 44:32and the woman was kind of like, hey, where's your mom?
- 44:34But also, who really cares? Because I'm sure you're fine,
- 44:36you know, And then all of the things he had access to that I
- 44:41think parents just would be like, I'm totally like, we're
- 44:44going to lock up all these things that Kevin's throwing at,
- 44:47you know, at these burglars. Also BB gun.
- 44:51Yeah, yeah. I mean, the interesting thing
- 44:53too, of Macaulay Culkin thinking he's going to keep these
- 44:56burglars out of his parents house.
- 44:58Like that also is the spirit of use of that time, right?
- 45:01Like, I mean, we were like, yeah, I'm going to kill this
- 45:04Robert so independent. So he embodied the spirit of of
- 45:10our age group. I feel he was so there.
- 45:13And then the other thing is like, there's such great things,
- 45:17like lines that come from it, you know, that are still quoted
- 45:21today by many, many people, right?
- 45:23Like, I mean, they're just iconic.
- 45:25And every once in a while I'll see something.
- 45:28It'll make me think of a line, you know, like, look what you
- 45:31did, you little jerk. You know, I mean just sitting
- 45:33there when he spilt all the pop all over because no one who
- 45:37cared about him having cheese pizza and his brother Buzz, Like
- 45:41we all have a brother Buzz or something like that who's just a
- 45:44did. You watch this movie for
- 45:46research. No, I've seen this movie so many
- 45:50times. I.
- 45:51Remember much of it too, but I don't know that I.
- 45:53Remember gosh, it was probably the most watched Christmas movie
- 45:57I have ever seen for me in my life.
- 46:00But then like you have the I think about the airport scene,
- 46:04right? And like in Home Alone 2, it's a
- 46:06little different, but you know, like how easily back then it
- 46:09would have been to get completely separated from your
- 46:12parents, like wind up on another plane.
- 46:14Like that could have easily happened back then way.
- 46:18Before like any of the 9/11. Changes so that's.
- 46:21Like, I mean, you could go to the gate, yeah.
- 46:24You didn't need a ticket. You just go on.
- 46:26Through I mean, and people had a lot of.
- 46:28Security where is no you still you went through.
- 46:31Yeah, you went through security, but like people you.
- 46:33Didn't need a ticket. No, you didn't need a ticket
- 46:35you. Just go in.
- 46:36Yes and people had a lot more kids.
- 46:38So like when you'd see someone with a group of like 10 kids,
- 46:41you're like, whatever, there's ten kids, you know, And I'm sure
- 46:44that, you know, our parents weren't always, well, I mean, I,
- 46:49I don't know how my dad kept track of the amount of kids he
- 46:52had, you know, but I'm sure like there were times you just sort
- 46:54of assume, you know, where is now, you know, people don't
- 46:57always have as many kids. So I feel like all of that could
- 47:00have happened. But then you have like today, I
- 47:06don't know if little Kevin McAllister was born and this
- 47:12happened in today's world, that little Kevin McAllister could
- 47:15last however many days on his own, especially with burglars.
- 47:20I would hope that today Kevin McAllister would think about
- 47:24calling the police sooner than the other one.
- 47:26But we would not have had the antics like, you know, a
- 47:29tarantula being let loose. And I mean, it was a.
- 47:33Movie I just want to point out like it didn't actually happen.
- 47:36But we all had that super scary person in the neighborhood that
- 47:40we had the rumors about what they would do.
- 47:43I don't, I don't remember. But, you know, again, that was a
- 47:45great lesson there. Yeah.
- 47:48It. Yeah.
- 47:49Shovel me. I don't know.
- 47:50I know. I know.
- 47:51But like, so it had the the bright, touching moments, but
- 47:54also it had so much humor. That just is good.
- 47:58And I know very young kids today who have seen it for the first
- 48:03time and they still find it hilarious.
- 48:06Hilarious. I haven't heard.
- 48:08Like, sometimes our daughter will say of movies, older ones
- 48:12that she's watched, she's like, I can tell that's old.
- 48:14So like, they're coming in with that.
- 48:16But like, immediately the movie starts hitting at the very
- 48:19beginning, and it just stays great the whole time.
- 48:24And yeah, Kevin is reunited with his mom.
- 48:27And actually his mom's kind of a little repentant for being kind
- 48:30of a jerk to Kevin, you know, like, I mean, how do you leave
- 48:33your kid, You know, Seriously. Like, yeah.
- 48:37Yeah, she needed a head count, which I understand.
- 48:40They had. They had it though. 11 is that
- 48:42the number? I feel like it was 11.
- 48:43Yeah, and then there was that kid who it was over. 10 and
- 48:45under 15. But they had the head count
- 48:47because oh. No, I understand.
- 48:49But my problem is like that. That was the method.
- 48:52Oh yeah, again, it's very like 80s, nineties, like Gen.
- 48:55X. Are there enough humans in the?
- 48:57Vein. Yeah, instead of like going
- 49:00like, actually like looking at the people, yeah, like, OK, is
- 49:04Kevin here and like naming the people.
- 49:06I just, man, that's the whole premise is sort of wild and it's
- 49:11not, I mean, never mind. I'm gonna let you keep going.
- 49:13Go ahead. I feel like you understand the
- 49:18awesomeness of this movie, and I will say the timelessness.
- 49:22I get that Elf is a new classic, but I don't think Home Alone's
- 49:28going anywhere. It's just good for all
- 49:32audiences. And for someone like me that
- 49:36needs a little more meat to the bones, you know, I need a little
- 49:41bit, a little. More meat to the.
- 49:43Bone, Can I? I Yeah.
- 49:46I need a little bit more plot. And I also need something
- 49:49different, like how I can't think of, and it might exist out
- 49:53there, but I can't think of another movie that is a
- 49:56Christmas movie where all of those things happen and you were
- 50:00guessing the whole time. You know, I can't think of it.
- 50:04So This is why I have to say Merry Christmas you filthy
- 50:12animal. Home Alone is the best Christmas
- 50:16movie, period. I just need to just need to add
- 50:23a little one more thing. It's not like the most
- 50:26Christmassy Christmas movie, actually.
- 50:28Wait, yeah, I hear it might be. Right, You might be right.
- 50:31I was thinking about it. It might be.
- 50:34It might be more an action movie than a Christmas movie.
- 50:37As I was thinking about it. I'm like, it's not really super
- 50:39Christmassy. Like, it goes right into, like,
- 50:43he's just stuck at home and it is Christmas.
- 50:48And then they freak out and the whole movie is he's trying to
- 50:51battle for his life, and then they're trying to figure out how
- 50:55to get back from France. Yeah.
- 50:58And he beats up the burglars and they get back from France.
- 51:02But there's not really like a ears like it's Christmas, you
- 51:06know what I mean? I don't know it.
- 51:07Is he literally you? Know and he goes to the church
- 51:10and. He goes to the church.
- 51:11He looks for Santa to wish. For and the guy talks about his
- 51:16family and yeah, but it's not like, I don't know.
- 51:20I think for me a Christmas movie is like super Christmassy.
- 51:24OK. I think if you're trying to
- 51:27pull, if you're trying to pull a little a little one over being
- 51:31like maybe it's not Christmas movie, not pull.
- 51:35Nothing, I just I was remembering the movie it elf
- 51:39happens to be a very. Christmas it's it's what it
- 51:44offers. Because he literally talks about
- 51:46the Christmas spirit the whole movie.
- 51:48Yeah, Yep. So it's very different.
- 51:50Well, but I really like everything about Home Alone.
- 51:54It's a good movie. It's it's not.
- 51:56The best Christmas movie? Do you want a Christmas movie?
- 51:59Elf is it? Yep.
- 52:03I I know that there's going to be people who certainly have
- 52:06their opinions and I might have set a couple of them off earlier
- 52:11for those who are anti. Set me off I.
- 52:15Man, but you know what that is really because I just really do
- 52:20like seeing something new and original.
- 52:22You know that I have that. I don't even like reading
- 52:25previews about movies before I see them after.
- 52:28Months of the year we can look for new and original.
- 52:32Well, I think that we could also do that.
- 52:34You said 10 other months. Yeah, October.
- 52:38That has its own. No, but we watch other things in
- 52:41October. I've already said this.
- 52:42We. Really don't.
- 52:44Well, OK, anyhow, we're so how? Christmassy we can get this
- 52:47year. We do that every year.
- 52:49So that is our argument. What is the better of the two
- 52:55Christmas Christmas movies? Elf?
- 52:59Christmas. Or home alone.
- 53:01So what's your favorite of those two?
- 53:03And then where can they vote for that?
- 53:06They should first your vote on Spotify in the app cuz that's
- 53:10where the vote is. Mm hmm.
- 53:13No. On the polls, please.
- 53:14That's where we want you to vote, because that's how we can
- 53:17track it. Mom.
- 53:20Talking to you. Anyway, you can also vote for
- 53:24now, you could still vote on our social media places.
- 53:31We're all over the everywhere arguing ever after.
- 53:34But probably at some point we're going to take that off the table
- 53:37because it's it's too much to check like 5 social media things
- 53:43plus the votes, plus we got like but and we record.
- 53:47Yeah, yeah. But I would love it if we got
- 53:49comments about, you know, after you vote on what we think,
- 53:52comment to your favorite movie, let us know maybe maybe you
- 53:56could tell us when to try. So maybe that we could have a
- 53:59new one. We would love that.
- 54:01By we, I mean me. I know Luke doesn't like too
- 54:03much change, but I would love to see what you might recommend and
- 54:08maybe, maybe I'm not gonna make promises, but maybe we'll watch
- 54:12it this year or next year, who knows?
- 54:15So yeah, Spotify. Right on.
- 54:18Yeah. Thanks for listening and
- 54:21hopefully we didn't alienate too many people today.
- 54:24Thank you. Bye.
- 54:25Bye.
