- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the bench. We have to Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Okay, here we go where.
- 0:04Speaker 1: The plays get broken down, Ben Science gets denied.
- 0:08Speaker 3: I got to come off the bench.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench Live from the Raisin
- 0:12Speaker 1: Canes Studio.
- 0:27Speaker 4: All right, looking back here Off the Bench Friday Friday,
- 0:31Speaker 4: Friday Friday Morning, Hour number two Laugh from the Raisin
- 0:35Speaker 4: Canes Studio. Flynn A laundr take ta Lady Kane holding
- 0:40Speaker 4: it down for you. We call a little trap food plus.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Even though Lady Kane she doesn't.
- 0:46Speaker 5: Give us much, so I'm gonna say she doesn't give anything,
- 0:50Speaker 5: nothing at all.
- 0:51Speaker 4: She's a pretty face about it. She's got good chicken fingers,
- 0:55Speaker 4: a bad sports takes. Yeah, you know, I rely on
- 0:59Speaker 4: her and nothing nothing. If like you hear me start
- 1:03Speaker 4: to ramble, it's because she was supposed to step in
- 1:06Speaker 4: and I already said my piece and she didn't step in.
- 1:10Speaker 4: It's kind of like kind of like a rein delay
- 1:12Speaker 4: for TV announcers, and they get that rein delay and
- 1:15Speaker 4: they're like, that's got to be the worst situation. That's
- 1:20Speaker 4: when you got to have Tate's skill. We're just like
- 1:23Speaker 4: talking about nothing for a long, long periods of time.
- 1:26Speaker 2: You got to have that skill. I don't have that skill.
- 1:31Speaker 6: I do either.
- 1:33Speaker 4: To the point you know, that's why I'm usually not
- 1:36Speaker 4: in the host chair. But Lady Kane's supposed to give
- 1:40Speaker 4: me gives me nothing.
- 1:46Speaker 2: All Right.
- 1:47Speaker 4: I want to take take a little trip down to
- 1:50Speaker 4: New Orleans and talk a little Saints training camp because
- 1:55Speaker 4: while we're not getting a whole lot out of l
- 1:57Speaker 4: s U a lot of feedback, there's I don't know
- 2:00Speaker 4: why the reporters that go to LSU's aren't getting more.
- 2:03Speaker 2: They're there for like.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Eight minutes, eight whole minutes. That's a ton of time
- 2:09Speaker 4: and a ton to see in those sweet individual periods
- 2:11Speaker 4: they get they get to view. I don't know why
- 2:14Speaker 4: they can't extract more information out of this team. Uh,
- 2:18Speaker 4: but we are getting more information. Our guy Nick Underhill
- 2:21Speaker 4: is posting a lot of videos, a lot of content,
- 2:23Speaker 4: a lot of opinions. He's doing a great job on
- 2:25Speaker 4: a Ross Jackson that's that that writes for Louisianasports dot
- 2:28Speaker 4: Net doing an awesome job. So there is a lot
- 2:32Speaker 4: of news coming out of Saints training camp. And look,
- 2:35Speaker 4: I'm just gonna mention it to tell you I'm not
- 2:36Speaker 4: gonna mention it. I'm not even gonna mention the name
- 2:38Speaker 4: Spencer Ratler, so I don't want to trigger people. Every
- 2:42Speaker 4: time I mentioned him or comment on a post from
- 2:46Speaker 4: Nick or somebody about a good throw by him, people
- 2:49Speaker 4: just destroy me.
- 2:50Speaker 2: They hate it.
- 2:51Speaker 4: They hate when anybody talks good about Spencer Ratler because
- 2:55Speaker 4: they because we're pro Ratler. He made a great throw
- 3:00Speaker 4: yesterday and Nick posted Spencer Ratler makes the throw of
- 3:04Speaker 4: training camp and it's a touchdown to our own berry
- 3:06Speaker 4: on Brown yes, And I was like.
- 3:08Speaker 6: Well, I'm trying not to get excited about.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Tweeted back, I replied, I said, uh oh, this is
- 3:15Speaker 4: a bad day for a lot of Saints fans. Yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 4: because Rattler made a good throw. Because they hate it.
- 3:19Speaker 4: They want him to fail. I guess I don't know.
- 3:21Speaker 4: And then someone commented, Matt, why you always such a
- 3:23Speaker 4: bee in these comments?
- 3:27Speaker 2: I mean, I mean the shoe fits.
- 3:30Speaker 7: I guess it's not fair anytime. The first thing I
- 3:34Speaker 7: always see brought up. I look at a lot of
- 3:35Speaker 7: our comments on YouTube as well. The first thing is like,
- 3:38Speaker 7: you guys keep saying Spencer Ratler is one of the
- 3:40Speaker 7: best backups and he has like a one in thirteen
- 3:42Speaker 7: win lost record. Okay, that's Spencer Rattler played well. Go
- 3:47Speaker 7: look at the raw numbers. Like Also, if you're viewing
- 3:50Speaker 7: him as a backup quarterback, all you're asking your backup
- 3:52Speaker 7: to do is go in there and play well, which
- 3:54Speaker 7: he's done.
- 3:54Speaker 4: I think a lot of people, at least on the
- 3:56Speaker 4: social media misinterpret what the good things that are said
- 4:00Speaker 4: by saying there should be some sort of quarterback competition.
- 4:04Speaker 4: No shucks the guy. Yeah, you really want your back
- 4:07Speaker 4: up to play good because you are going to hopefully,
- 4:10Speaker 4: hopefully he plays into giving you an asset, an asset
- 4:13Speaker 4: that you can trade and you can trade for a corner,
- 4:17Speaker 4: you can trade for a receiat like you could trade
- 4:19Speaker 4: for a draftic whatever it is. You want him to
- 4:21Speaker 4: play really well. You want more clips like this coming out.
- 4:24Speaker 4: So other teams that have poor quarterback play are like, oh, okay,
- 4:28Speaker 4: well let's go try. Let's go trade a fourth rounder
- 4:31Speaker 4: for him. Let's go trade a fifth and a you know,
- 4:33Speaker 4: a seventh, four year, like you get something for him
- 4:37Speaker 4: to so yeah, nothing we say, we said we talked
- 4:40Speaker 4: positive aout him, because there's so many people that talk
- 4:42Speaker 4: negative about him yeah, we got to defend him because
- 4:44Speaker 4: he's a good player. But the person on the receiving
- 4:48Speaker 4: end of that pass, berry On Brown, becoming quite the
- 4:53Speaker 4: camp darling. And I know, Saints fans, you have to
- 4:57Speaker 4: kind of like pump the brakes and pause a little
- 4:59Speaker 4: bit and be very cautious for these camp darlings, right yeah, Mason, Yeah, okay,
- 5:06Speaker 4: Mason last year, right now, I know, But I will
- 5:10Speaker 4: say it is a little bit different when that camp
- 5:14Speaker 4: darling is a draft pick and a guy that had
- 5:18Speaker 4: some expectations of course being drafted like barry On Brown did,
- 5:22Speaker 4: and you want him to play well, right, you want
- 5:25Speaker 4: them to be a camp darling. And you got to
- 5:27Speaker 4: look at like the way, like why.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Is he doing it? Is he just flashing flukey plays.
- 5:33Speaker 4: No, he's making plays on scramble, finding open like he
- 5:36Speaker 4: is making very high football IQ plays what it seems like.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Of course, I'm not watching the film. I don't know
- 5:42Speaker 4: exactly how plays out. I'm trying to like piece mill
- 5:45Speaker 4: a bunch of clips together and watch it. But scrambled,
- 5:48Speaker 4: drill being really good, being in the right place at
- 5:49Speaker 4: the right time, having strong hands at the point of catch,
- 5:53Speaker 4: just doing a lot of really good, high quality wide.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Receiver, wide receiver things.
- 5:59Speaker 4: So if he was a first second, third rounder and
- 6:03Speaker 4: playing like this, you would just be like, this guy's
- 6:06Speaker 4: living up to the hype, right, he wouldn't be a
- 6:08Speaker 4: he wouldn't be a Camp Darling, and Camp Darland is
- 6:10Speaker 4: usually somebody that is undrafted. Like think about the first
- 6:14Speaker 4: hard knocks that ever came out with the Cowboys, like
- 6:15Speaker 4: Dan and Amandola, Like he was Camp Darling and he
- 6:18Speaker 4: ended up having a great career. Mason Tipton, Like, that's
- 6:20Speaker 4: why everybody's got to be a little bit cautious. There's
- 6:22Speaker 4: always somebody that flashes that you didn't expect. I think
- 6:25Speaker 4: the expectation was certainly there for him to be good
- 6:28Speaker 4: at least berry On Brown. That's why you draft him.
- 6:30Speaker 4: So excited to see it. Of course LSU fans excited
- 6:34Speaker 4: to see it. Saints fans or Saints aren't like it's
- 6:37Speaker 4: not normal that they have a LSU player on their team.
- 6:41Speaker 4: That one that especially, especially for a long time there
- 6:44Speaker 4: was an LSU draft over there, so excited to see
- 6:47Speaker 4: him go. So what do y'all think about? Have y'all
- 6:53Speaker 4: seen the clips? Have y'all seen the clips that I'm
- 6:54Speaker 4: talking about multiple of them, like the one yesterday.
- 7:00Speaker 5: It was also like I just feel like he was
- 7:01Speaker 5: wasted here at LSU because of the offense that we had.
- 7:05Speaker 5: So I like, he's a good player, Yes, he's a
- 7:09Speaker 5: good and I mean we saw him at the Senior Bowl.
- 7:13Speaker 5: He was the fastest one on the board like pretty
- 7:16Speaker 5: much every day, had the most yards the days that
- 7:19Speaker 5: we were out there too, So I mean I think
- 7:21Speaker 5: that the potential for him to be really good is there.
- 7:25Speaker 5: I'm trying to temper my excitement with him because like
- 7:29Speaker 5: as a Saints and LSU fan, I want it to
- 7:31Speaker 5: be good. But yeah, I mean, and the rattler stuff,
- 7:35Speaker 5: I agree. We're just trying to talk good about him
- 7:38Speaker 5: because he's a good player. Yeah, and everybody just poop
- 7:42Speaker 5: poo's on him the show. Friend of the show, we
- 7:46Speaker 5: called him.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Spence Spence Spence probably.
- 7:48Speaker 6: Like a nickname basis with him.
- 7:51Speaker 5: But yeah, I mean, Tyler Schuck is awesome too. I
- 7:55Speaker 5: mean he convinced us we.
- 7:57Speaker 7: Were talking about We've talked about a little bit during break.
- 8:00Speaker 7: It's like whenever you have a coaching staff that was bad,
- 8:03Speaker 7: it had the wrong pieces in place, like we saw
- 8:05Speaker 7: it with Matt House right, all the quote unquote bad
- 8:08Speaker 7: defensive players here really good in the NFL, like I
- 8:11Speaker 7: was telling you, like Bower Sharp potentially makes the Buccaneers roster,
- 8:14Speaker 7: like we've Jake was telling us. They were raving about players.
- 8:17Speaker 7: Garrett Nelsmeyer's getting rave reviews from the chiefs Berry on Brown,
- 8:21Speaker 7: Like a lot of people were like, oh, he's disappointing
- 8:23Speaker 7: because he had a lot of hype. I thought that
- 8:24Speaker 7: at times too. He led LSU and receiving yards a
- 8:27Speaker 7: year ago, like a lot of people, I guess, don't
- 8:29Speaker 7: really realize that because your offense was so bad you
- 8:31Speaker 7: had five hundred and thirty two yards now like twelve
- 8:34Speaker 7: or that leading your team is bad in and of itself.
- 8:37Speaker 7: But I mean, the guy's got talent, Like you put
- 8:40Speaker 7: him in an offense with it's functional that throws the
- 8:43Speaker 7: ball downfield, which is his strength.
- 8:45Speaker 3: He can do a little bit for it.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Is this right?
- 8:47Speaker 4: So Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss had six players with
- 8:50Speaker 4: more yards than LSU's leading receiver last year five a
- 8:53Speaker 4: six receivers.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Did he have a ton in? I had a decent amount.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I'm counting that. I'm counting.
- 8:58Speaker 7: I'm counting that odds For what it's worth, Winston Watkins
- 9:01Speaker 7: would have been third, fourth on LSU's team and receiving lards,
- 9:06Speaker 7: he's the sixth receivers and he would have been fourth
- 9:10Speaker 7: on LSU's team.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Oh yeah, uh so, yeah, we were talking about that
- 9:14Speaker 4: in the group chat when from mainly from defensive guys,
- 9:19Speaker 4: that it really pisses us off when we see LSU
- 9:23Speaker 4: players that weren't good at LSU or at least productive.
- 9:26Speaker 4: I'm not going to say not good, not productive at LSU.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Go and have long successful and be really good in
- 9:32Speaker 4: the NFL. The NFL is way harder to be good
- 9:35Speaker 4: at than college football, big news flash for everybody. So
- 9:39Speaker 4: when you're not productive at a university, but you're in
- 9:44Speaker 4: line to have a great NFL career, play ten, twelve,
- 9:48Speaker 4: fifteen years, whatever it is, even if it's five years,
- 9:53Speaker 4: then that means you were underutilized in college, right. I
- 9:56Speaker 4: mean it could mean like in a lot of cases,
- 9:58Speaker 4: and you might not have found your rhythm, found your
- 10:01Speaker 4: stride as a player. You might not have you might
- 10:02Speaker 4: have been a little late bloomers, And that happens too,
- 10:06Speaker 4: but it is too consistent, especially in this Brian Kelly,
- 10:08Speaker 4: are that people are having success very early in their
- 10:11Speaker 4: NFL career. That didn't that didn't flash enough as much
- 10:14Speaker 4: as they should have in college.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Jordan Tyson's looks the part right now.
- 10:23Speaker 6: He looks good too.
- 10:24Speaker 4: He looks very good. I've seen people are over analyzing.
- 10:29Speaker 4: It's it's the internet, right, people over analyze everything. They're
- 10:31Speaker 4: trying to analyze his gait and his like his toe
- 10:35Speaker 4: position when he's running routes, and like, well, he's gonna
- 10:37Speaker 4: be he's going to be susceptible to you know, a
- 10:40Speaker 4: cls because look at his toe angle and coming out
- 10:43Speaker 4: of breaks, Like okay, well you're.
- 10:44Speaker 2: You're a dork.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Look at his Look at his two angles here. All
- 10:49Speaker 4: I know is the angle of how fast he's coming
- 10:51Speaker 4: out of breaks and how quick he looks, and how
- 10:54Speaker 4: what a crisp and incredible route runner he is.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Uh.
- 10:58Speaker 4: The goal of any wide receipt is to make a
- 11:02Speaker 4: deep defensive back second guess yourself. So when you start
- 11:04Speaker 4: breaking down, you got a second guess whether he's going
- 11:06Speaker 4: inside or going outside? Is he actually breaking down or
- 11:08Speaker 4: is he stuttered?
- 11:09Speaker 8: Me?
- 11:09Speaker 4: What like what is that receiver doing? And then being
- 11:13Speaker 4: quick enough to get out of that break. So once
- 11:15Speaker 4: the defensive back does know which direction you're going. You
- 11:18Speaker 4: can't you can't catch it, You can't be quick enough
- 11:20Speaker 4: to get to him. And my god, that guy has
- 11:24Speaker 4: you can You can certainly see why the Saints took
- 11:27Speaker 4: a risk and stepped up and took him eighth overall,
- 11:30Speaker 4: even with the injury, the threat of injury that he's
- 11:35Speaker 4: had and the history of soft tissue injury that he had.
- 11:38Speaker 4: So I am excited to see him play. Still hesitant
- 11:42Speaker 4: to like feel very comfortable and feel very safe that
- 11:46Speaker 4: he's going to play seventeen games. It's hard to do that,
- 11:49Speaker 4: but very excited to see him work. You've seen it,
- 11:52Speaker 4: Like have y'all seen the clips of him running routes
- 11:55Speaker 4: like Alave running route that him running arout Not to
- 11:57Speaker 4: say that it's different type of route running if I God,
- 12:00Speaker 4: he just looks very polished.
- 12:02Speaker 6: Great dude.
- 12:04Speaker 7: The Saints, like we had talked about how big of
- 12:05Speaker 7: a need pass catcher was going into the draft, right
- 12:08Speaker 7: I thought they nailed it. I mean, look, we're talking
- 12:09Speaker 7: about Barry On Brown and Jordan Tyson. Don't forget Bryce Lance,
- 12:13Speaker 7: Like we haven't heard a ton about him in training camp,
- 12:16Speaker 7: but back to back thousand yard seasons at North Dakota State,
- 12:19Speaker 7: who's like the power of the FCS actually moving up
- 12:22Speaker 7: to have bs this year, twenty eight touchdowns in college
- 12:25Speaker 7: and then Oscar delp. You know, we discussed them at
- 12:28Speaker 7: Georgia saying they maybe didn't use him the way we
- 12:30Speaker 7: wanted to see him get used.
- 12:31Speaker 2: But he's a talented guy.
- 12:32Speaker 7: You pair all four of those guys with an Lave,
- 12:35Speaker 7: with a Devon Vley who showed flashes last year. All
- 12:38Speaker 7: of a sudden, your pass catchers looked really good. You
- 12:40Speaker 7: got five or six guys that can contribute. Right, Look,
- 12:43Speaker 7: the Saints are actually are you look at him up paper.
- 12:46Speaker 7: They're the first team. That first lineup of starters is
- 12:51Speaker 7: pretty good. Yeah, it's pretty pretty dark good.
- 12:53Speaker 4: They can at least line up and play the same
- 12:55Speaker 4: game with anybody in the league, right, and they're going
- 12:58Speaker 4: to you know, they're they're gonna win more games than
- 13:00Speaker 4: they did last year. I don't know what that what
- 13:02Speaker 4: a successful season for you as a listener out there
- 13:05Speaker 4: as a fan, I don't know what a successful season
- 13:07Speaker 4: for you is. But the Saints are starting to pick
- 13:11Speaker 4: up some national talk, at least in the division. I
- 13:14Speaker 4: don't know if it's because of a little bit of
- 13:16Speaker 4: a little bit of drama in Tampa Bay. I don't
- 13:18Speaker 4: know if that kind of sparked people, but a lot
- 13:19Speaker 4: of people are now picking the Saints to be the
- 13:22Speaker 4: team that comes out of the NFC South and makes
- 13:24Speaker 4: the playoffs. Do you think if they do, do you
- 13:27Speaker 4: think it's going to be because of the play of
- 13:29Speaker 4: Kendre Miller.
- 13:30Speaker 2: It's gonna get him. They're gonna get him over that hump, Matt,
- 13:32Speaker 2: I'm glad you brought that up.
- 13:33Speaker 7: If barry On Brown is the surprise of camp, the
- 13:36Speaker 7: least surprising thing in camp is the last two days
- 13:39Speaker 7: Kendre Miller in attendance.
- 13:41Speaker 2: And not practice. Shut up.
- 13:43Speaker 7: Kellen Moore met with the media Wednesday to address it,
- 13:46Speaker 7: and he kind of blew it off as like not
- 13:48Speaker 7: a big deal injury wise.
- 13:49Speaker 2: To me, it is a big deal.
- 13:51Speaker 7: Like, uh, they calling it a back, Kellen said, sometimes
- 13:54Speaker 7: these spasms happened, so pulled muscle, backspasm, something like that.
- 13:58Speaker 7: It doesn't appear to be serious.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I actually think he said he has a back. He does.
- 14:02Speaker 2: He has a back, he does.
- 14:03Speaker 7: I've seen it, dude, kN Dre Miller. If this is
- 14:08Speaker 7: not a serious injury.
- 14:09Speaker 2: You hope it's not.
- 14:10Speaker 7: I mean, look, guys rupture their achilles all the time,
- 14:13Speaker 7: tare their knee.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I get that. You're gonna have to tough these out
- 14:17Speaker 2: at some point.
- 14:18Speaker 7: You have played in twenty one games in three years
- 14:23Speaker 7: in the NFL, eight games, six games, seven games. That's
- 14:26Speaker 7: what he's done for you. And now at this point
- 14:29Speaker 7: in his career, Let's be honest, Kendre Miller's fighting to
- 14:31Speaker 7: make this team a chain and Kamara locks.
- 14:35Speaker 3: We know that.
- 14:36Speaker 7: Devin Neil, He's looked really good at times a year ago.
- 14:39Speaker 7: He's a guy you just drafted. This coaching staff drafted.
- 14:43Speaker 7: Audric Chestamy was good the last two games of the year.
- 14:46Speaker 7: I mean, ninety one yards what was it against the
- 14:48Speaker 7: Titans and then one hundred dollar purpose the last game.
- 14:51Speaker 7: He could make that team. Ty Chandler is a veteran.
- 14:54Speaker 7: He brought in CJ. Donaldson, the rookie from Ohio State.
- 14:57Speaker 7: Like Kendre Miller, there's a chance he doesn't make this team,
- 15:01Speaker 7: and you're not, like, again, injuries happen.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I get it.
- 15:04Speaker 7: You got to do whatever you can to get on
- 15:06Speaker 7: this field, and like the injury itself may not be
- 15:09Speaker 7: a big deal. But the fact that once again we're
- 15:11Speaker 7: talking about Kendre Miller missing training camp, to me is
- 15:14Speaker 7: a big deal.
- 15:15Speaker 4: So basically, what Taylor is saying is that he has
- 15:18Speaker 4: a back and he Taylor wants him to stop being
- 15:21Speaker 4: a baby back?
- 15:21Speaker 2: Bee.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Is that what you're trying to say to an extent,
- 15:25Speaker 4: to an extent, pretty much exactly what you said. So
- 15:30Speaker 4: in the National Football League, talent gets you there. Talent
- 15:35Speaker 4: cannot keep you there. It has kept him around. He
- 15:38Speaker 4: is so talented that it has kept him around longer
- 15:41Speaker 4: than most. With injuries and things like this happening, you
- 15:45Speaker 4: can't make the club and the tub y'all know that.
- 15:47Speaker 4: Saying it's it is something that some people do struggle
- 15:50Speaker 4: with more than others. So you have to. At certain
- 15:56Speaker 4: point a team will cut its losses. They are not
- 15:59Speaker 4: going to wait around for anybody. Now, more talent you have,
- 16:01Speaker 4: the longer they will wait. But at some point everybody
- 16:05Speaker 4: has an expiration date on that. So he has got
- 16:07Speaker 4: to get healthy. Hopefully Kellim Moore is correct, it is
- 16:10Speaker 4: nothing to worry about. But my god, I stay impressed
- 16:16Speaker 4: with the amount of things Kelli Moore doesn't say.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Oh, he is the most coach speak coach that I've
- 16:23Speaker 5: ever heard.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yes speak.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Is he like the nice version, the non grumpy version
- 16:29Speaker 4: of Belichick in New England?
- 16:31Speaker 6: Pretty much?
- 16:31Speaker 5: He is a nice Bill Belichick in terms of press conferences.
- 16:35Speaker 6: Yes, he says a lot to say.
- 16:36Speaker 4: He says it with a smile on his face, and
- 16:38Speaker 4: that is coach speak one oh one right there. And
- 16:42Speaker 4: you know, as fans and as people that are on
- 16:45Speaker 4: radio and do media, like you want more, But I
- 16:49Speaker 4: totally get it. I totally get it. And that's probably
- 16:53Speaker 4: how I would be. I would probably you know, can't
- 16:55Speaker 4: keep his personality down, you know. Uh, I would probably
- 17:00Speaker 4: say a little bit more and maybe have a little
- 17:02Speaker 4: bit more voice inflection.
- 17:04Speaker 6: Yeah, he's very boring.
- 17:05Speaker 2: He's very boring, very.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Like he's good vibes, but he's boring. And he doesn't
- 17:10Speaker 5: say a ton like. He says a lot of words,
- 17:13Speaker 5: but not a lot of like, not a lot of info.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Yeah, he's like less Miles could speak for an hour
- 17:19Speaker 4: and not say yeah. Think he dances around it a
- 17:21Speaker 4: little bit, dances around, but he doesn't even dance around.
- 17:24Speaker 5: He just cuts It's fine.
- 17:27Speaker 2: We're not worried about it.
- 17:28Speaker 7: He said, sometimes these things pop up at this point
- 17:30Speaker 7: in camp, it's like, yeah, we get that.
- 17:32Speaker 2: But every year this happens with there's another player that
- 17:34Speaker 2: has a toe, just one. That's what he said. That's
- 17:38Speaker 2: a concern.
- 17:39Speaker 4: That is a concern. He said he got a toe,
- 17:41Speaker 4: Kender's got a back. The other guy got ahead. Like
- 17:45Speaker 4: not saying a lot, so Belichick, when I was I
- 17:49Speaker 4: was there for a long time. I was on that team.
- 17:50Speaker 4: I was teammates with Tom Brady. I hope you'll know
- 17:54Speaker 4: that for a very long time, at least two weeks close,
- 18:00Speaker 4: very tight, get show. He actually texted me when I
- 18:02Speaker 4: got cut. He was like, hey man, good luck. This
- 18:05Speaker 4: actually signed and he signed off TV twelve. Sure did.
- 18:11Speaker 4: That was right after Belichick called me and cut me
- 18:13Speaker 4: at the gas station on the way to Kip.
- 18:15Speaker 7: God, it would have been worse as if Tom would
- 18:17Speaker 7: have texted you before Belichick called you.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Yep, yep.
- 18:21Speaker 9: Uh.
- 18:21Speaker 4: So I think I've told the story, but I don't care.
- 18:23Speaker 4: I'm gonna tell it again right now, So we.
- 18:27Speaker 10: Do.
- 18:27Speaker 4: I want to tell it after the break, I mean
- 18:28Speaker 4: I could. That's a good idea. No, that's a good
- 18:31Speaker 4: idea because we are very late right now. I'm gonna
- 18:33Speaker 4: Devail Belichick story. And then after that we are going
- 18:37Speaker 4: to play Jacob Hester interviewing LSU's owned Kelvin Shepard. When
- 18:43Speaker 4: we come back right here and off bench, off the bench.

- 21:29Speaker 4: more back to school health tips or to schedule employment,
- 21:33Speaker 4: visit Ostner dot org slash br all right, we were
- 21:37Speaker 4: talking about Kellen Moore, second year coach, expecting big things
- 21:44Speaker 4: as his young quarterback really ended the season off the
- 21:49Speaker 4: right way last year. And we think as Saints fancy
- 21:52Speaker 4: here in Louisiana, we think a decent amount of momentum
- 21:55Speaker 4: going into this season. They had a great offseason, Mickey
- 21:59Speaker 4: crushing it in the front office. We were talking about
- 22:03Speaker 4: Ken Dre Kendre Miller and his injury yesterday and Kelly
- 22:09Speaker 4: Moore is just his ability, his uncanny ability to say
- 22:14Speaker 4: absolutely nothing and be very boring but be very nice
- 22:18Speaker 4: about it and be very likable when he's talking. And
- 22:22Speaker 4: I kind of made the comparison of him be and
- 22:24Speaker 4: is he like the nice, non grumpy version of Bill
- 22:28Speaker 4: Belichick when it comes to speaking with the media. Well,
- 22:31Speaker 4: I was in New England. Let's see, was twenty fifteen.
- 22:36Speaker 4: I believe it was the year that I finished with
- 22:38Speaker 4: the Saints. Actually the last half of the season. I
- 22:41Speaker 4: was in New England. I had got the call. I
- 22:44Speaker 4: was actually on a vacation in Italy when I got
- 22:47Speaker 4: the call. When Tom Brady got suspended for Deflategate. So
- 22:52Speaker 4: I got the call and I was like six days
- 22:54Speaker 4: in drinking wine, eating pasta, and they're like, hey, you
- 22:56Speaker 4: want to come try out for the Patriots. I was like,
- 23:00Speaker 4: oh gosh, so yeah. I ended my vacation a day early,
- 23:03Speaker 4: flew in. They had me running like the forty and
- 23:06Speaker 4: the l drill and stuff after like with a belly
- 23:08Speaker 4: full of pasta. Anyway, I make the team, and I
- 23:11Speaker 4: was there through the off season, like through OTA's a
- 23:13Speaker 4: mini camp and through the first week of training camp.
- 23:16Speaker 4: I pulled my hamstring before training camp started, so I
- 23:19Speaker 4: never really had an opportunity there with the injury. But
- 23:24Speaker 4: when we started training camp, every day Bill Belichick would
- 23:29Speaker 4: give a media award to the team, so a media availability.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Of course, every single day in training camp, players speak
- 23:36Speaker 4: to the media. So Bill Belichick was famous, obviously for
- 23:39Speaker 4: giving the media absolutely nothing, being super dry, being super boring,
- 23:45Speaker 4: sometimes very rude to media members, and not telling them anything.
- 23:49Speaker 4: A lot of times just one word, answers whatever, so
- 23:53Speaker 4: he would give He did this absolutely on purpose. He
- 23:57Speaker 4: did not want to give the media anything that was
- 23:59Speaker 4: his and he fed into it, and it got better
- 24:05Speaker 4: and better every year. When I say better and better,
- 24:06Speaker 4: he got worse and worse to the media, but in
- 24:08Speaker 4: his eyes got better and better. So he would encourage
- 24:11Speaker 4: his players to do the same thing. He would encourage
- 24:13Speaker 4: his players to say absolutely nothing. And when I got
- 24:16Speaker 4: to New England, I didn't really know what to expect.
- 24:18Speaker 4: It was the great Bill Belichick. It was you know,
- 24:20Speaker 4: multi multi time Super Bowl winning coach, the greatest coach
- 24:24Speaker 4: of all time in the NFL. I didn't really know
- 24:26Speaker 4: what to expect. You saw his media personality. But I
- 24:29Speaker 4: gotta say, when I got there, he was very like
- 24:31Speaker 4: outgoing personality, smiled a lot, joked around with a team.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Now he rolled with the iron fists, certainly, but seeing
- 24:39Speaker 4: him walk around with like khaki cargo shorts, flip flops
- 24:42Speaker 4: and like a button up with rolled up sleeves around
- 24:44Speaker 4: the locker room was like jarring to me because all
- 24:48Speaker 4: I had seen was Bill Belichick on the sideline before
- 24:51Speaker 4: we had played against them, like so see him like
- 24:54Speaker 4: interact as like a real human being was crazy to me.
- 24:58Speaker 4: So he would go into a team room and he
- 25:00Speaker 4: would joke around, he would say a couple of things,
- 25:02Speaker 4: and then he would get down to business.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Uh, well, we get there.
- 25:06Speaker 4: It was a second day of training camp, and of
- 25:08Speaker 4: course the first day was reporting day, and the first
- 25:10Speaker 4: day there you had to do conditioning, like a conditioning
- 25:13Speaker 4: test at LSU conditioning test would be sixteen one tens
- 25:16Speaker 4: or a forties test or whatever it was. It's to
- 25:19Speaker 4: ensure all your players stay in shape before they get
- 25:22Speaker 4: to training camp, and if you were not in good
- 25:24Speaker 4: enough shape, you were held out of practice and you
- 25:27Speaker 4: have to work out until you can meet the goal
- 25:30Speaker 4: of that minimum requirement of conditioning. Well, I think the
- 25:35Speaker 4: I think the conditioning test there was like a certain
- 25:37Speaker 4: amount of fifty yard runs, sprints, whatever you want to
- 25:40Speaker 4: call it. It was like twenty of them or something
- 25:42Speaker 4: like that, and you had to do it and it's okay.
- 25:44Speaker 4: So it's tough whatever you pass or fail. There was
- 25:49Speaker 4: who was the who's the running back from Boise State
- 25:53Speaker 4: that punched the guy?
- 25:54Speaker 2: Well, Garrett Blunt.
- 25:55Speaker 7: Okay, so there he said, Oregon, he punched the Boise
- 25:58Speaker 7: steak game.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Okay, there you go. Good punch too. Yeah, lights up.
- 26:02Speaker 4: So Lagarrett Blunt was on the team at that time.
- 26:05Speaker 4: And so the second day of training camp, after the
- 26:08Speaker 4: first day after conditioning test, he gives away the first
- 26:12Speaker 4: media award and he's like, okay, and we're going to
- 26:16Speaker 4: give away the media award. He gives like third place,
- 26:19Speaker 4: second place, and in first place with Garrett Blunt. Media
- 26:25Speaker 4: question what all was involved during the conditioning test? But
- 26:30Speaker 4: Garrett's answer conditioning and he pauses for like ten seconds
- 26:36Speaker 4: with Garrett, that is effing amazing, great job, keep it up.
- 26:42Speaker 4: And he gives am award and everybody claps for him
- 26:44Speaker 4: because he gave him the least amount of AMMO. He
- 26:47Speaker 4: said the least amount and he was the biggest a
- 26:50Speaker 4: hole to the media. So that is that's my story
- 26:54Speaker 4: about Bill Belichick and his media relations what he expected
- 26:59Speaker 4: from his team, and uh, of certainly kill Moore is
- 27:02Speaker 4: not that and his's guys say a lot more. And
- 27:05Speaker 4: he says a lot more of course words. But from
- 27:08Speaker 4: a word count perspective, Kellen says a lot more than
- 27:10Speaker 4: Bill Belichick. But from a content perspective, he ain't give
- 27:15Speaker 4: him much away, and I don't expect that to change.
- 27:18Speaker 4: What's the Have you ever heard him say anything of
- 27:20Speaker 4: substance that gave you an answer to a question?
- 27:25Speaker 7: No, most of most of pelichicks are good moments I've
- 27:27Speaker 7: seen here, like the mic up.
- 27:28Speaker 4: What about he he says, he says a lot, he
- 27:33Speaker 4: speaks for a decent amount time. He was actually he
- 27:35Speaker 4: was when he did an interview with us for this show.
- 27:37Speaker 4: He was very good. That's the kind of difference between
- 27:41Speaker 4: like a video call too. I think he kind of can.
- 27:42Speaker 7: When y'all talked a lot, y'all reminisced a lot about
- 27:45Speaker 7: like you and him play in the QB position and
- 27:47Speaker 7: all that. It wasn't hard hitting, you know, it wasn't
- 27:49Speaker 7: what hey give us a show, It wasn't give us
- 27:52Speaker 7: an up there on Kendre Miller.
- 27:53Speaker 2: How injured is is back? Wasn't that.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Well.
- 27:58Speaker 4: Hopefully the spasms get okay. Hopefully everything's all right. Because Taylor,
- 28:03Speaker 4: as you said, you were a big Kendre Miller fan. Yeah,
- 28:06Speaker 4: I was TCU, and obviously they are fans of him
- 28:10Speaker 4: because when he does get out on the field, the
- 28:12Speaker 4: talent is obvious.
- 28:13Speaker 7: He spent third round pick on him. I mean he
- 28:15Speaker 7: scored eighteen touchdowns something like that.
- 28:19Speaker 2: This is off top my head his last year. Uh
- 28:21Speaker 2: at TCU.
- 28:22Speaker 7: But Ian, dude, he's he's kind of turning into the
- 28:25Speaker 7: to the Zion of the Saints here a little bit.
- 28:27Speaker 7: It's like I can't play because of this is like
- 28:30Speaker 7: ny seventeen touchdowns his last year.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Like, but he was really good. That was the national
- 28:35Speaker 2: championship run.
- 28:36Speaker 7: It was his last year in college and they had
- 28:38Speaker 7: high hopes for him and it just hadn't done.
- 28:41Speaker 6: It all right, I mean injuries aside.
- 28:43Speaker 5: I thought he was Like one of my bold predictions
- 28:45Speaker 5: last season is that he was gonna have a thousand
- 28:47Speaker 5: yard seasons.
- 28:47Speaker 6: Yeah, and then he got injured last season.
- 28:49Speaker 5: He's got the te Like I've been on Kenkendre Miller,
- 28:52Speaker 5: like I want him to be good because he has
- 28:54Speaker 5: shown like that he is good.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Stop at TC yeah, stop spasmy yeah, come on. I mean,
- 29:00Speaker 6: what you had more yards last year?
- 29:02Speaker 2: Hendre or or Exavier?
- 29:06Speaker 5: Actually I don't know that off the top of my head,
- 29:09Speaker 5: but if I had to guess Exavier at.
- 29:11Speaker 7: By the way, that's okay, He's okay. They I was
- 29:13Speaker 7: a stinger. Okay, good, So early reports out is going
- 29:18Speaker 7: to be okay. My heart sunk a little because you know,
- 29:21Speaker 7: I'm coming out hot.
- 29:22Speaker 5: I Xavior get this year, and I was gonna do
- 29:24Speaker 5: the Candre one again because I was like, Okay, he's healthy, now,
- 29:28Speaker 5: this is it. But I don't know what it is like.
- 29:30Speaker 5: I don't know if it's like his back, hammy whatever.
- 29:33Speaker 5: I guess what's his name? Kellen Moore said it was
- 29:37Speaker 5: his back. I don't know how I just blanked on
- 29:39Speaker 5: his name like that.
- 29:39Speaker 7: But but I mean, there's there's a real chance that
- 29:42Speaker 7: Kendre Miller doesn't make this thing.
- 29:44Speaker 2: There's a real chance that happens.
- 29:46Speaker 7: If you got seven running backs in that room, if
- 29:49Speaker 7: they're out there actually on the field performing, why are
- 29:51Speaker 7: you keeping Kendre Miller around?
- 29:52Speaker 4: Well, for sure, if he if he if he didn't
- 29:54Speaker 4: perform it, you're you have an expiration date. You just
- 29:58Speaker 4: compared him to Zion with the injuries, but he's he's
- 30:01Speaker 4: got talent, but he doesn't have Zion type talent for
- 30:03Speaker 4: his sport. And yeah, he could be good, but you
- 30:06Speaker 4: just traded and paid a chan and you kept Kamara.
- 30:09Speaker 4: So there are limited seats in that running back room
- 30:13Speaker 4: this year, so you better start toughing it out. And look,
- 30:16Speaker 4: you can't tell you can't fight through actual injury, but
- 30:20Speaker 4: you have to look at and say, I just want
- 30:22Speaker 4: to tell my kids all the time.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Are you hurt? Are you injured?
- 30:24Speaker 3: Are you hurt?
- 30:25Speaker 2: Are you injured?
- 30:26Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 30:27Speaker 4: By god, if I'm not injured, if it's just hurting,
- 30:29Speaker 4: I'm gonna do everything I can because he has to
- 30:31Speaker 4: come to the realization that it is this year or never.
- 30:35Speaker 7: Because I don't think they're going to move on from
- 30:36Speaker 7: Devin Neil, who actually pulled a hamstring yesterday, so we'll
- 30:40Speaker 7: see that lingering, but they're not going to move on
- 30:41Speaker 7: from Devin' a substation down there.
- 30:43Speaker 5: I don't know going on no, but I think Jordan
- 30:46Speaker 5: Tyson we shouldn't be worried anymore because we got him
- 30:49Speaker 5: away from the substation.
- 30:51Speaker 6: Because remember we looked it up. There's one buy Arizona State,
- 30:55Speaker 6: which staboo. M hmm, I mean it was well he
- 31:02Speaker 6: was with the giants.
- 31:02Speaker 2: That's true. I forgot about that. We did Arizona State?
- 31:05Speaker 2: Did happen?
- 31:05Speaker 6: They had one literally right down the street.
- 31:08Speaker 7: Oh, by the way, I'll look. Gette had way more
- 31:09Speaker 7: yards than Kindre. He had almost five hundred kindre head one.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Three five hundred.
- 31:16Speaker 6: You know what, that's half right, half way thousand.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 31:20Speaker 7: Oh no, I'm sorry. That was two years ago. We
- 31:22Speaker 7: had three sixty five. Last year it still had a
- 31:24Speaker 7: lot more than combined though almost combined, almost one thousand. Yes,
- 31:29Speaker 7: it's two year total.
- 31:31Speaker 4: See this head not just a neck wornament. Everybody pretty smart?
- 31:36Speaker 4: All right, Hey, look, we got to start putting our
- 31:38Speaker 4: pole predictions ready for later.
- 31:39Speaker 6: I know, I'm so excited.
- 31:40Speaker 4: I know it's gonna be good this year. We're gonna
- 31:42Speaker 4: we're gonna knock it out of the park. Yeah, we're
- 31:44Speaker 4: gonna nail it. Okay, let's go to break, and then
- 31:47Speaker 4: when we come back from break, let's let's play the
- 31:51Speaker 4: Jacobaster and Kelvin Sheppard interview and open teasing it for
- 31:53Speaker 4: a couple of segments. We are going to come back
- 31:55Speaker 4: with that interview, so stay tuned right here.
- 31:57Speaker 2: And off the bench fopter bench.

- 32:28Speaker 4: real customers talking about their experience with Pelican Roof. You
- 32:32Speaker 4: see all the great work that they've done the community.
- 32:34Speaker 4: We told you about the veteran giveaway, the Mother's Day giveaway.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Those are things that they do because they are part
- 32:40Speaker 4: of this community, a part of your community, and these
- 32:43Speaker 4: are things they don't have to do, but because they
- 32:46Speaker 4: care about Louisiana, they care about the people in it,
- 32:49Speaker 4: they do great things within that community. So if you
- 32:51Speaker 4: have a roofing project, a roof leak, or roof repair.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Maybe it's a complete roof replacement. Give them a call
- 32:55Speaker 4: for a consultation, let them tell you, let them work
- 32:58Speaker 4: with it. You go check them out Pelicanroof dot.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Com Tigers turn Talkers. This is off the bench.
- 33:12Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, loocome back here off the bench, Friday morning.
- 33:21Speaker 2: What is it?
- 33:21Speaker 4: Eight thirty nine am here in the Capital City, Alandra?
- 33:29Speaker 2: Second time? No, that's the third time I've said it.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Is it still normal?
- 33:32Speaker 6: Not yet?
- 33:33Speaker 2: Not yet?
- 33:33Speaker 4: No, it takes about ten to twenty probably we'll keep
- 33:36Speaker 4: saying it.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Capital City.
- 33:39Speaker 4: All right, welcome here off the bench, live from the
- 33:41Speaker 4: Raisin King Studio tripod rolling with you this morning. But
- 33:44Speaker 4: we are gonna hear from the fourth person in the
- 33:48Speaker 4: wolf Pack, our fearless leader, mister Jacob Hester. Traveling the countryside.
- 33:53Speaker 4: I think it's fifteen total training camps he's going to,
- 33:57Speaker 4: but a big interest yesterday him in Actually I don't
- 34:01Speaker 4: know where they were, but wherever the Detroit Lions are
- 34:03Speaker 4: having their training camp is where he was, and he
- 34:05Speaker 4: got to catch up with former LSU Tiger and current
- 34:10Speaker 4: defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, a guy that has
- 34:13Speaker 4: exploded onto the coaching scene. Had a great NFL career,
- 34:16Speaker 4: a great cred LSU, a great former Tiger, always representing
- 34:19Speaker 4: the Tigers, and has a very bright future in the
- 34:23Speaker 4: coaching world. He got to catch up with Kelvin Shephard.
- 34:27Speaker 4: And here is mister Jacob Eppards Hester talking to Kelvin Shepard.
- 34:31Speaker 12: All right, welcome back in Serio six M NFL Radio,
- 34:34Speaker 12: continuing our training camp tour.
- 34:35Speaker 10: We are in Detroit talking to the Lions today.
- 34:38Speaker 12: We're going to be joined now by my guy, Kelvin Sheppard,
- 34:40Speaker 12: defensive coordinator.
- 34:43Speaker 10: I mean, you know, he went to LSU two' go ahead.
- 34:45Speaker 3: And get it out of the way.
- 34:46Speaker 10: Bad might as well go ahead and let him know,
- 34:47Speaker 10: go Tigers.
- 34:48Speaker 13: And god he's not a fullback because I wouldn't have.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Anything to say here.
- 34:51Speaker 10: Well, I mean, you know, we want to get to
- 34:52Speaker 10: each other. Shep was a young player back when I
- 34:55Speaker 10: was a senior there.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Hey what I tell you?
- 34:58Speaker 12: I said, My guy was out there playing as a
- 35:00Speaker 12: true freshman on a national championship team.
- 35:02Speaker 8: Absolutely, man, I appreciate y'all having me, appreciate seeing my
- 35:05Speaker 8: brother ask you.
- 35:06Speaker 10: Man, Hey, I'm so happy for you.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Man.
- 35:08Speaker 12: You deserve everything that's come your way. And I know
- 35:11Speaker 12: that you've got some players on your side of the football.
- 35:14Speaker 10: I know y'all brought in a lot of guys.
- 35:16Speaker 12: I know you're excited to go out there, you know,
- 35:18Speaker 12: second year as a defensive coordinator. But just hearing y'all
- 35:21Speaker 12: talk about some of the guys y'all brought in, kind
- 35:23Speaker 12: of how the practices are going, it feels like y'a
- 35:25Speaker 12: are hitting for you year two, just ground running, full speed.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Absolutely, it's always nice.
- 35:30Speaker 8: Also before you even get to the players, the continuity
- 35:33Speaker 8: within the staff going into year two, being able to
- 35:36Speaker 8: carry over everybody one hundred percent carry over, right, So
- 35:39Speaker 8: you don't have to coach coaches before you can get
- 35:42Speaker 8: to the players. The coaches know exactly what you're looking
- 35:44Speaker 8: for per their individual rooms, and now it's just one voice.
- 35:49Speaker 8: Everybody understands the adjustments the way I like to call it,
- 35:53Speaker 8: the way I want it to look, my vision pre
- 35:56Speaker 8: and post snap. So now when we walk in the
- 35:58Speaker 8: room with the players, it's like, let's oh, here's the adjustments,
- 36:01Speaker 8: here's the whys. You remember last year Rock against Pittsburgh
- 36:05Speaker 8: when this happened. That's why you can't do that and
- 36:08Speaker 8: you can give them real life examples versus just showing
- 36:11Speaker 8: them a vision.
- 36:12Speaker 13: It's not really real yet. I'm gonna reinforce your point
- 36:16Speaker 13: because a lot of times, and we go to a
- 36:20Speaker 13: lot of camps, and I've been in this thing for
- 36:21Speaker 13: fifty years, everyone likes to address the what, but the
- 36:26Speaker 13: why it's not covered the way you do it. Belichick
- 36:31Speaker 13: covered it, and he used to move guys around in
- 36:33Speaker 13: positions to make sure they understood what the guy next
- 36:36Speaker 13: one was doing by making them play it for a while.
- 36:38Speaker 2: But the why is hard.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Absolutely, it's conceptual learning.
- 36:41Speaker 8: I tell the guys, don't memorize plays, thank you, that's hard.
- 36:47Speaker 3: That's how bus happened.
- 36:49Speaker 8: Learn concepts, learn how to put things in buckets, and
- 36:52Speaker 8: then from there learn what the man next to you
- 36:55Speaker 8: is doing. And the biggest reason why is because then
- 36:57Speaker 8: you will fully understand why we're at asking you to
- 37:00Speaker 8: play that technique while we're asking you to play outside
- 37:03Speaker 8: leverage here because the safety's incertain to you.
- 37:06Speaker 3: That's why. And then that's coaching to me.
- 37:09Speaker 8: I think anybody you can go get a school teacher
- 37:11Speaker 8: to roll out a playbook and say learn this, but
- 37:15Speaker 8: explaining the why, telling the player. We're translators have to
- 37:19Speaker 8: tell coaches it doesn't matter how smart you are, it
- 37:21Speaker 8: matters what your players can understand. So I say we're
- 37:24Speaker 8: the translators between the coach's meetings to the coach the
- 37:28Speaker 8: player communication. And I think we've tookn a major step there.
- 37:33Speaker 8: And it goes back to the coninuity within the staff
- 37:35Speaker 8: and now having players that's been with me since they
- 37:37Speaker 8: were drafted, Huts, Derek Bourne's, Jack Campbell, Aleen McNeil, Levi
- 37:43Speaker 8: and Zerique we're all in lockstep. Like today we had
- 37:46Speaker 8: to walk through assimilated no huddle deal. I let Jack
- 37:49Speaker 8: call the whole practice and we jumped into situations. I
- 37:53Speaker 8: let Jack call the whole thing. I put him in
- 37:55Speaker 8: stressful situations right now, so when he's in the heat
- 37:58Speaker 8: of the moment, he never blinks.
- 38:00Speaker 12: Yeah, and that's a player that we were talking about
- 38:02Speaker 12: with your head coach, we were talking about before hopped
- 38:04Speaker 12: on with you. Jack Campbell feels like he still doesn't
- 38:07Speaker 12: get talked about enough because he's right there in the
- 38:09Speaker 12: middle of that defense and we were talking about I mean,
- 38:11Speaker 12: he's not a typical linebacker size, miss a six' five,
- 38:14Speaker 12: GUY i mean two forty.
- 38:16Speaker 10: Five two, FIFTY i don't really know the.
- 38:17Speaker 12: WAY i, mean he looks, bigger but, man the ben
- 38:20Speaker 12: that he, has the play recognition that he has from
- 38:22Speaker 12: the very good go and you just said you just
- 38:24Speaker 12: gave him a whole.
- 38:24Speaker 8: Day, hey it's, Yours, bud go get it because you
- 38:26Speaker 8: know he can handle. It and and like you appreciate
- 38:29Speaker 8: the way this player. Works, man he came in here
- 38:31Speaker 8: as a. Rookie you would have thought he was an undrafted. Player,
- 38:35Speaker 8: yeah the time he puts in, it he exhausts himself
- 38:38Speaker 8: in this. Stuff he immerses himself in it because it
- 38:41Speaker 8: means something to. Him if he has an em, ME
- 38:44Speaker 8: i mean it's he's beating me to LIKE i cannot do?
- 38:48Speaker 3: That why WHAT i? Like and he because he understands the. Why.
- 38:52Speaker 3: Right but then when you're able to have a.
- 38:53Speaker 8: Guy on the front line Like, hutch a guy in
- 38:55Speaker 8: the middle Like, jack when your best players are your,
- 38:58Speaker 8: hardest your hardest, workers you never have to coach, Effort
- 39:02Speaker 8: you never have to coach discipline because if he's doing.
- 39:06Speaker 3: It what are you? Doing AM i not doing?
- 39:09Speaker 8: That so LIKE i credit the front, OFFICE i Credit
- 39:11Speaker 8: dan for the people they're bringing in this, building not
- 39:14Speaker 8: just the, players because it starts. There, man when your
- 39:17Speaker 8: best players are your hardest, workers it's easy to demand
- 39:20Speaker 8: certain things out of other.
- 39:21Speaker 13: Guys, awesome let's talk about opposite hutch rushing the.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Passer, yeah what's the group look like over?
- 39:28Speaker 8: There, oh it's a thing of beauty right. Now i've
- 39:31Speaker 8: been afforded opportunity to be, here going on my sixth,
- 39:34Speaker 8: season and hutch tapped me on my shoulder the other
- 39:36Speaker 8: day at practice and he's, LIKE i got some.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Real help out here.
- 39:40Speaker 8: Now it's JUST i think he's felt a load like
- 39:47Speaker 8: he's been. Carrying hutch has been a ninety five percent
- 39:49Speaker 8: out a player for us when, healthy and you don't
- 39:52Speaker 8: want that at the position he. PLAYS i, mean you
- 39:54Speaker 8: guys been around all your whole lives. Too to have
- 39:57Speaker 8: a defensive lineman playing sixty five snaps a, game.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Well we talk about that with the.
- 40:03Speaker 13: Listeners because offensive tackles will play eleven hundred, plays, yeah
- 40:08Speaker 13: but a defensive end is going to play five hundred.
- 40:10Speaker 8: Plays there you, go and when the game's on the,
- 40:13Speaker 8: line you want those guys fresh. Again Imagine Pinee sewell's
- 40:18Speaker 8: out there Against Aiden hutchison for twelve straight snaps and,
- 40:23Speaker 8: when just when he starts sucking. Win we're able to
- 40:26Speaker 8: now bring IN dj wan Them yep fresh to maybe
- 40:30Speaker 8: Get Pine sue best offense attack on the. League but
- 40:32Speaker 8: now you're getting them at seventy five percent versus that Fresh,
- 40:36Speaker 8: Peney so there's no drop off when it goes to all,
- 40:39Speaker 8: Right hutch leaving the, FIELD i can't call this NO
- 40:42Speaker 8: dj won. Them let's Go Derek, moore let's go plug
- 40:45Speaker 8: and play.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Type sometimes you got to protect your own.
- 40:48Speaker 13: Guys they want to stay out, there and you Know
- 40:51Speaker 13: mucha is only coming out because you made him come.
- 40:53Speaker 9: Out thank, you because people don't understand because you, know
- 40:57Speaker 9: the first thing you hear is, Well hutch is playing too.
- 40:59Speaker 9: MUCH i tell the media the other, DAY i want
- 41:02Speaker 9: you guys to come down on game day and try
- 41:03Speaker 9: to get them off The.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Yeah i'll put you in charge of getting them.
- 41:09Speaker 10: Seven see how that goes for, you Jep, MAN i.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Know you gotta.
- 41:12Speaker 12: Go we appreciate you free time during training. Camp, man
- 41:15Speaker 12: always love to see you so happy for your success.
- 41:17Speaker 12: Man continued success and best luck this upcoming. Year Oh,
- 41:19Speaker 12: MAN i greatly appreciate it was a.
- 41:21Speaker 4: Pleasure, yeah all, right there he Is Kelvin, sheppard FORMER
- 41:24Speaker 4: Lsu tiger and an eight YEAR NFL vet and a
- 41:28Speaker 4: coach on the, rise having a great early coaching, career
- 41:33Speaker 4: and we look for big things at, him AND i get.
- 41:36Speaker 4: It everyone's, like, oh So. Lions we don't really care
- 41:38Speaker 4: about The, lions but let's put the team. Aside there
- 41:42Speaker 4: is a lot of just great football nuggets to pull
- 41:46Speaker 4: and to pick out of that. Conversation the number one
- 41:49Speaker 4: that's the number one thing that stock out to me
- 41:51Speaker 4: is the Best when the best players are your hardest.
- 41:54Speaker 4: Workers that is when you have something special and you
- 41:57Speaker 4: talk about what trying to define what made gives a
- 42:00Speaker 4: team an it factor sometimes what makes a team a
- 42:02Speaker 4: championship team over just a very talented. Team when the
- 42:05Speaker 4: best players are your hardest, workers that is something that
- 42:08Speaker 4: can snowball and it's a great lesson for kids out
- 42:11Speaker 4: there in youth. Sports it's a great lesson for kids
- 42:13Speaker 4: out there in anything that they're, doing whether it's, school
- 42:16Speaker 4: whether it's, athletics whether it's. Music whatever you decide to,
- 42:19Speaker 4: do whatever it, is be great to be great at.
- 42:22Speaker 4: It the best players or are your hardest. Workers that
- 42:26Speaker 4: is when you can do something very special and a
- 42:28Speaker 4: lot of great. Nuggets and another thing that stuck out
- 42:30Speaker 4: to me was, like that's why offensive tackles get paid
- 42:33Speaker 4: so much money because at the end of the, year
- 42:35Speaker 4: when you look at, it they've played eleven hundred plays
- 42:38Speaker 4: and the defensive ends that they go against have played five.
- 42:40Speaker 4: Hundred because they're, rotation they're always playing someone. Fresh that
- 42:43Speaker 4: is why good offensive tackles are so highly, drafted such highly,
- 42:48Speaker 4: paid and why they are in high demand because it
- 42:51Speaker 4: is such a hard position because you're always going against fresh.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Players great stuff.
- 42:57Speaker 4: There we Wish kelvin a ton of six sas you
- 43:01Speaker 4: can tell why he is on the rise as a.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Coach you can tell that coach, speak you can tell
- 43:04Speaker 4: the passion that he speaks. With that is why heck
- 43:06Speaker 4: like he's never been a head coach. Before he's a
- 43:08Speaker 4: defensive coordator for like a year and or and thought
- 43:14Speaker 4: of as people talked about Him bnlshu's head coach Before Lane.
- 43:17Speaker 4: Kiff he was at least in that conversation from a
- 43:19Speaker 4: fan standpoint because he is so highly thought, Of so
- 43:22Speaker 4: wish him.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Success awesome stuff from.
- 43:24Speaker 4: Him All, right we're gonna come, Back we're gonna go
