Transcript
- 0:01Good morning, afternoon, and or evening.
- 0:14Depending on, when you're listening to this this is what's
- 0:17your least favorite scary movie, the podcast where we talk about.
- 0:20Our least favorite aspects and most debatable opinions of our
- 0:23most favorite scary movies. We fight over our favorites.
- 0:26My name is Jessie and my name is Travis.
- 0:29And today, we are Going back to the Friday, the 13th series,
- 0:34going to Friday the 13th. Part Two going to be another
- 0:37movie where I am in favor of it and Jesse not so much.
- 0:41Yeah, more in favor than I was for part 1, but I still got a
- 0:45lot of problems with you people. Airing the Grievances hearing my
- 0:50grievances Every Day's festivities are about to, so
- 0:53we're about to have the Feats of Strength.
- 0:56So yeah, Friday the 13th Part to this one was directed by the
- 1:00original Writer of the movie Stephen or the original.
- 1:03Yeah, writer of the First Once even minor minor, I hardly know
- 1:09her. Hey, hey, written by Ron kurz.
- 1:14Sean Cunningham is actually involved in this one.
- 1:17I was kind of shocked whenever I saw the credits say, he ended
- 1:20the movie, which kind of is a demotion when you think about
- 1:24it, maybe that's why. Woman, he clearly wasn't really
- 1:27interested in the series from the beginning.
- 1:29So he left it to the people who actually gave a shit about it,
- 1:32which I, which somehow was Steve.
- 1:34The guy who wrote it? Yeah, who Ooh, and the special
- 1:37features for the first ones like yeah, Halloween did really good,
- 1:42so we're gonna do that. Yeah, he, I mean, he knew what
- 1:46it was and yeah, we like put effort into.
- 1:49I don't think Shawn really put much effort into the first one.
- 1:52I did not like some of his directorial choices but I guess
- 1:55we will and this one. Yeah.
- 1:57Okay I guess we'll get into that later.
- 1:59Yeah, I guess we will but guess who came back for the music?
- 2:03That's right. It was Henry manfredini.
- 2:07Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't even know if he actually
- 2:09redid the square. I feel like they just reused the
- 2:11score from the original know. It felt it felt amped up a
- 2:14little bit to me. I was much more aware of the
- 2:17music this time and not even in a, you know, I'm going to be
- 2:21doing a podcast about it later. I was just like, wow, there's a
- 2:24lot more. Going on?
- 2:27Yeah, I was more aware of the music.
- 2:30This time of it existing, we're in the first one.
- 2:35Real is just there for the tent scenes.
- 2:37I feel like there was a lot more music in this one.
- 2:40Yeah, actually I think it right because she made a point in the
- 2:42first one of saying that he only put music in for the tense
- 2:45scenes. So yeah, I think you're right
- 2:47about that and our subtitles really liked to let us know if
- 2:50the music was tense. Yeah.
- 2:51Give us the mood since music. Yes.
- 2:53Gary tense, music tense music. I can win sometimes tell me how
- 2:57to feel. Yeah it takes a lot of the
- 2:59guesswork out of watching movies Tom savini.
- 3:02Unfortunately was not available to do the effects for this one.
- 3:06However, they got somebody that I feel like I was pretty
- 3:08confident Carl Fullerton. Yeah, he stepped in for him
- 3:13since savini wasn't available for the movie.
- 3:16He's went on to do other things like Friday.
- 3:18The 13th. Part 3, and also Silence of the
- 3:22Lambs. Oh really?
- 3:24Yeah. So he's done pretty well.
- 3:25He's actually still working. So he's made a name for himself,
- 3:29good for him. Yeah, we know that they didn't
- 3:32get to show the full Glory of all of his blood and guts and
- 3:36this movie because we saw from his own personal effects, the
- 3:40extended scenes with, you know, Thrice the blood, which really
- 3:45elevates. It's kind of a shame that you
- 3:46don't get the full picture, especially on Scott's deaf.
- 3:50I think Scott's is brutal, and so is marks.
- 3:53Yeah. And the, the cop like that.
- 3:55Yeah, the hammer. Yeah.
- 3:57What's spreading out? Yeah.
- 3:59So going back to how the movie was received back in the day to
- 4:04No Surprise. It wasn't received.
- 4:06Well, I mean, they kind of knew what it was even though it was
- 4:10just a second movie in this. I mean, Amy Steel didn't even
- 4:13really want to audition for it. Yeah, a lot of people kind of
- 4:17knew what they were getting into.
- 4:19I got a quote here from The New York Times who gave it, its
- 4:22highest rating of 4 out of 10. They they said, The point is an
- 4:27excuse for joining together Horrors.
- 4:29All of the pseudo masochist kind and the acting is rudimentary at
- 4:33best. It will probably make a fortune.
- 4:37They were not wrong. Yeah, Roger Ebert gave it.
- 4:40The lowest one at 12 out of 100, it round her Hebert.
- 4:43Yeah, he is a little bit to suit the soil before.
- 4:47Yeah. That was their personal ratings.
- 4:50I'm going to give it an 8 out of 10.
- 4:53I really like this movie, it was so much better than the
- 4:56original. It's a goddamn 8 out of 10.
- 5:00But you keep the, which that's because the read the which sucks
- 5:05and I stand by it. I don't care what anybody tells
- 5:07me, the, which is terrible. Oh my God, you're terrible.
- 5:11What did you guys? What did you get it?
- 5:1366. Okay, so you what did you give
- 5:16the original 55. Okay.
- 5:18So we both I think race it by a single point.
- 5:21So we've got we got a 7 out of 10 as our average pre discussion
- 5:25score. Are we ready to?
- 5:28Yeah, let's talk shop. That's a launch into this thing.
- 5:30NG. All right, first of all, we see
- 5:33a precocious young chat while we hear precocious young child
- 5:36named Jesse. Hey, don't know why served?
- 5:42Absolutely no purpose. There's a lot in the first 20
- 5:47minutes of the movie, that's there.
- 5:49I think probably just to give it a feature length because it is
- 5:5387 minutes. So, yeah, it's 20 minutes of
- 5:57basically the ending of the original movie.
- 5:59God, this is my first problem. Yeah, but this movie it was just
- 6:05like Whatever I was, you know, kind of lukewarm about Alice as
- 6:11a final girl. Anyway, you know, if you haven't
- 6:15listened to our first episode, you probably should because I'm
- 6:18carrying over a lot of angst and grievances I was you know, kind
- 6:25of lukewarm about it but we see her in this house which at first
- 6:28I was like okay cool. She moved back in with her
- 6:31parents. I still have no clue how old
- 6:33this fucking person is supposed to be.
- 6:37But no, she hasn't moved back in with her parents as we find out
- 6:40when she has an angry conversation with her mom, who
- 6:42was just worried about her child.
- 6:44Who almost died. Yeah.
- 6:45How is she in this gigantic house with all of this
- 6:50furniture? I couldn't tell if she owned the
- 6:53entire place or if that was like a building, like kind of an
- 6:56apartment of sorts where that was her room, like her section,
- 7:01and then like all of that shared space is just So much Furniture
- 7:06crammed in there. Yeah, she likes Furniture.
- 7:08Apparently. She's going through a traumatic
- 7:10event. Okay.
- 7:10She can like go about therapy her own way.
- 7:14I mean, that's what she told her mom.
- 7:15She said she just needed time for herself.
- 7:17Exactly. She's a at points tense but also
- 7:25fairly lacks about checking if her windows and doors are locked
- 7:29apparently. Yeah, what should I do?
- 7:31Understand her looking over her shoulder all the time because
- 7:36the whole thing about Jason is he stays within Camp, Crystal
- 7:41Lake, but exciting and it doesn't.
- 7:44Yeah, I had a problem with this because I mean I know that this
- 7:48is like the introduction of Jason ruing.
- 7:50So So there's still kind of laying the groundwork about how
- 7:53he is but I don't understand why they have him like go into the
- 7:58city, how he's able to track this person down in the first
- 8:00place. Yeah.
- 8:02I mean he's just like a, it's like a and I mean we got this
- 8:05whole recap of her beheading his mother and him apparently seeing
- 8:12it through. You know how people talk about
- 8:17drunk acting a lot? I think we need to start talking
- 8:20about nightmare acting. Yeah, because it's twisting and
- 8:24turning. Yeah.
- 8:26All right listeners. Travis talks in his sleep and
- 8:31I've been known to sleepwalk and I don't think either of us has
- 8:35ever explicitly stated what was happening in our dreams, as we
- 8:39clutch, the covers that we were laying on top of fully, clothed
- 8:43did I not tell you that one time that I was dreaming about soon?
- 8:45Oh, wrestlers, know, you were saying fight?
- 8:49Mm, gotta fight them. Go to fight them and I said, who
- 8:54you fighting Travis and you said the sumos and I was like, are
- 8:59you winning? And you said, of course, Jesse
- 9:02in that tone. Yeah, so yeah, Travis is a
- 9:07pretty sassy when he sleeps, but it's never like a full X but I
- 9:10don't know if you've ever spoken to a sleep talking person.
- 9:13I highly recommend it because it It's hilarious, one time,
- 9:17Travis, sleep sleep. Travis couldn't remember the
- 9:20word for blanket. I don't accept it wasn't a
- 9:23blanket. It was a towel that you wanted.
- 9:24You said you wanted the warm square.
- 9:32But yeah, I just I didn't like it.
- 9:34I didn't like the cheesy effects of like her dream like shaky
- 9:38skin. Did it in?
- 9:41And then we basically just watched the last what 20 minutes
- 9:45of the First movie, I don't clips and pieces.
- 9:48You doing unnecessary thing. Like we could have just seen her
- 9:51chop off Betsy, Palmer's head and Jason jump up out of the
- 9:55lake. Boom, we're caught up.
- 9:57That's really all you need to know because later on at the
- 10:00camp, counselor, Training Center.
- 10:02We get the whole Campfire story of what happened so we get so
- 10:07much. Exposition for this movie, that
- 10:10it's ridiculous and we could have spent it more on the like
- 10:14four times as many calories. Slayers.
- 10:16Is he getting this one? I didn't like the opening.
- 10:20I didn't like the fact that they did the flashback because that
- 10:23definitely did feel like they're patting.
- 10:26It was cheesy effects. I, this is also where I had one
- 10:29of my first issues with Steve minors.
- 10:31Directing. Yeah, is a like, you know the
- 10:35whole looking over her shoulder thing.
- 10:37Yeah she Yanks back the shower curtain for absolutely no
- 10:40reason. Do you not get paranoid with
- 10:42stuff like that? That's like something that I
- 10:44would feel would be real. Like I've done that before I do,
- 10:47but she gets out of the shower. Seemingly not having finished
- 10:50her shower. She looked like she did to me.
- 10:52Not her hair was only half. What you do.
- 10:54Always wash your hair, you should know.
- 10:56I know but I don't get it half wet on days.
- 10:59I don't wash it. I just it was just weird the way
- 11:02she yanked it back and was looking directly at the camera.
- 11:05Like she was, it felt like it was meant to be a Jason POV shot
- 11:09but it wasn't. Oh, I thought it was kind of
- 11:11cool. I didn't like it.
- 11:13I like the whole thing. I thought that the whole so If
- 11:15they cut all the flashbacks stuff and just had the whole
- 11:18thing with her in the apartment I think that would have been a
- 11:21really effective because I kind of like the tension that I had.
- 11:24Yeah a completely understand her being paranoid and having that
- 11:28that PTSD and all of that going on and you know the cat jumping
- 11:35through the window was nice. Very much like so yeah.
- 11:39Very much like Zoe including the whole what we call the sea jump
- 11:43where her body just makes a c and all Four Paws move together
- 11:48and also much like Zoe. The cat was pissed when Alice
- 11:55gets killed before, she can feed.
- 11:58It doesn't even hurt cat. I didn't get the impression.
- 12:00It was well, she was gonna feed it that people, we have friends
- 12:04that do that. I know that's, I guess it's a
- 12:06good point. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, and he
- 12:10makes it known to her. And this is I like this bit
- 12:13because normally, you know, when Bill, Explain why they're doing
- 12:17it. It's this whole big long
- 12:18monologue, but instead, Alice opens her fridge and there's
- 12:22mrs. Voorhees head, and then Jason's.
- 12:25Like, so now you're dead because you killed her, like, that's
- 12:28not, you know. Yeah, that's that's a very
- 12:30definition of sugar until I, you know, not my favorite opening in
- 12:36a horror movie. I was kind of dreading this bit,
- 12:39really? I loved it.
- 12:40I thought it was great but it, I guess is effective enough for us
- 12:45to, at least. Get closure on Alice.
- 12:47I think this is trying to make it more of a story rather than a
- 12:51vehicle for death. So it was fun.
- 12:53I do think there was much more of an attempt at storytelling
- 12:56here. The characters are better in
- 12:57this one too. They are.
- 12:59Which is I think hilarious because they had so many more
- 13:02characters but they found better ways to like give us Distinct
- 13:07personalities for each of them. Yeah.
- 13:09So I think that was a little bit more effective but yeah.
- 13:13So we have all these. We start off with them Jeff and
- 13:17Sandra are in a pay phone. Talking to Ted is Ted the new
- 13:21Ned. She makes a lot of poop jokes.
- 13:25He is the new net. Yeah, so it's like a thing that
- 13:27pretty much every single Friday. The 13th has like a comedian
- 13:30type character. Yep, at least.
- 13:33This one is not quite as unbearable, and he seems to be a
- 13:36little bit. Responsible.
- 13:37He is he isn't present at positions or training center.
- 13:42He's got Charisma. Yeah I mean he's okay he's goofy
- 13:46but he's not like I wasn't rooting for him to die.
- 13:50You know what I mean? And he doesn't that's what is
- 13:52actually like. One of the only ones the whole
- 13:55group that went to the bar. Yeah.
- 13:58That we're gonna. I was like just being a he's the
- 14:01only one I think that doesn't die in the entire series.
- 14:04I could be wrong as we cover these more.
- 14:06But, you know, I believe that's the case.
- 14:08I mean, well, I got ten to go. Yeah, so yeah.
- 14:11Jeff and Sandra are rolling into town, like the beginning of the
- 14:15first one, except they're not hit tracking.
- 14:18Yeah, they're just lost. Yeah, there's something at a pay
- 14:21phone to call and get directions.
- 14:25Meanwhile, some guy is Towing than immediately after they
- 14:28parked their car, and they're running up beside him, he is
- 14:33clearly fucking with them. And, like, at first, First I
- 14:36thought he was just a tow truck driver.
- 14:38That's just over all of the shit.
- 14:40Yeah, me too because he's driving slow enough for them to
- 14:42run this item and he can clearly hear them and he was like barely
- 14:46hiding a smile. And I was like, man, this guy
- 14:49just doesn't give a fuck. I'm just like enjoys it.
- 14:53But it turns out, he's Ted's friend toe, Ted all fyodor.
- 15:01So then Ted gets in the truck with them.
- 15:05And tell us the beginning of a joke, the scene Cuts away, and
- 15:09then we hear the end of the joke, which ends with.
- 15:14Oh, no, you get the whole joke. If you read the subtitles, if
- 15:16you, if you don't have subtitles on, you're not going to hear
- 15:19this. I did.
- 15:19I miss the middle part of the joke because I there was a bear
- 15:22in a rabbit in the woods and then the next thing I heard was
- 15:26Bear wiped his ass with the rabbit.
- 15:28The bear asks, do you have a problem with getting shit on
- 15:31your fur like implying that you know he has trouble with the
- 15:34getting on his is and the rabbit says no.
- 15:36And then the bear takes the rabbit and wipes his ass with
- 15:39the rabbit. It's a stupid joke, it isn't.
- 15:42It's a bad joke. But you know okay well I'm glad
- 15:46that that actually answered that question because I was really
- 15:49hoping that they wrote the script and they didn't have a
- 15:51full joke there and they were just like and the bear wife.
- 15:55Disaster. That like what happened?
- 15:58Yes - okay cool Ralph Ralph is back.
- 16:04So we know this time around that, he's not the killer, so
- 16:07he's not the red herring that he wasn't the first one.
- 16:10He's just the crazy guy that is going around.
- 16:12Telling people that can't board and they're doomed, you know,
- 16:14all that shit. And it is the same Lake that
- 16:17can't blood was on their share and they said they're sharing
- 16:19the lake and I'm confused because is this a camp counselor
- 16:23training center or is it meant to be a camp because the sign
- 16:27doesn't say Camp. It says, counselor, Training
- 16:30Center. I don't think that they're
- 16:31anticipating any campers here. Okay, It's just like a Regional
- 16:35councillor Training Center. Yeah, I think so.
- 16:38Which seems confusing because I feel like every Camp has its own
- 16:41rules and guidelines and the guy was even talking specifically
- 16:44about. We're going to focus on the
- 16:45basics like fire building and survivalism.
- 16:49Yeah, it's weird but we get at least a little bit of diversity
- 16:54in the cast. Not a ton but we do have a mark
- 16:58is in a wheelchair. Yeah you find out.
- 17:00That's the results of a motorcycle accident.
- 17:04We do have a black counselor. I did think I wasn't missed a
- 17:09lot of games. Yeah.
- 17:10I don't think they give him a name.
- 17:12Um, he's just kind of there as like, you know, I'm part of the
- 17:14group. There's a lot of counselors
- 17:15here. Yeah.
- 17:16They really know about happen them.
- 17:18Yeah, we really get get just kind of glimpses of them when
- 17:22they're all together. Basically more than half of
- 17:25them, go out to the bars for most of this movie.
- 17:28Yeah. You know they've got situations
- 17:30for why a handful of them have to stay back?
- 17:34We don't get much Beyond like seeing group interactions of
- 17:38them, eating and swimming, and games aren't always explicitly
- 17:41mentioned. I think they were mostly trying
- 17:42to focus on us meeting the Doomed to die ones.
- 17:48Yeah, it it gives it more of a, like, real feel to it.
- 17:51I think which that is nice at least because I know that tends
- 17:54to be a horror movie Trope about the by pressing directors
- 17:58getting killed off. So yeah, that's at least nice.
- 18:02This maybe in some ways was fairly Progressive because, you
- 18:06know, Mark is able to maneuver around the camp without an
- 18:10issue. And this is a full nine years
- 18:13before the Ada was signed into law.
- 18:15So, Yeah. He's clearly like physically
- 18:17capable of getting around and handling himself and they're all
- 18:21experienced counselors to, which I thought was nice.
- 18:24Instead of like, in the first one where I was like, how the
- 18:27fuck are these people supposed to look after children?
- 18:29They are children. Yeah.
- 18:32They all have counseling. Experience Camp, counseling
- 18:37experience, not, you know, therapy counseling.
- 18:40I like the the head counselor in this one, a lot better than the
- 18:43first movies Paul. Yeah.
- 18:45Yeah. Got his shit together, his
- 18:48coffee. Yeah he seems like an actual
- 18:50proper business owner, ready to talk and lead people unlike
- 18:55Lumberjack Steve and the first one who didn't even have the
- 19:00camp ready to go by the time staff were arriving, didn't give
- 19:04them time to get trained because they had to put batteries on the
- 19:07building wasn't even there for most of the movie.
- 19:09Yeah, exactly. So Paul seems pretty competent.
- 19:13He is a you know aside from The fact that he what came first the
- 19:21counselor assistant or the girlfriend, I think that it is
- 19:25implied. I think that they have a
- 19:26history. Okay, that's what I got to
- 19:29Sochi. I was trying to figure out if he
- 19:30crossed a professional boundary and started hitting on this
- 19:34assistant trainer or if she got the job through nepotism.
- 19:38Yeah I don't think this case I think the nepotism is less
- 19:41quickie so yeah yeah he's a it's not bad in this one I don't
- 19:46Believe Paul's a good guy isn't even do that.
- 19:49I mean, I mean he makes mention of literally would do it because
- 19:56we see him do it. Rousey is him.
- 19:57Do it too. We're not there yet.
- 20:00That's right. Yeah.
- 20:02Speaking of her inner Ginny shows up late.
- 20:06Mmm. Not a good start off.
- 20:08Yeah. And then we see, you know, he,
- 20:12he does what he tends to do with all the counselors in this movie
- 20:17where they make a mistake. And, you know, he's like, Don't
- 20:22do it again. Yeah.
- 20:24I was very forgiving in this movie.
- 20:25Yeah. Watch.
- 20:26I mean, I don't know. I don't think my boss has to be
- 20:29a hard-ass to be a good boss and I don't think he has to be a
- 20:32total pushover either. I think he rides that line well
- 20:34enough, especially considering its day one, and when she points
- 20:38out that she had car trouble and she tried to call but couldn't
- 20:42because the phones weren't connected.
- 20:44I think once he realized oh this was my bad.
- 20:46Yeah, he kind of Let It Go, which is good because he had to
- 20:49get out there in time to tell the rest of the counselors that
- 20:52Bears are dangerous. Yeah.
- 20:54Despite what you hear is what do you say?
- 20:56What you do? Here.
- 20:57Bears are dangerous. Yeah.
- 20:58Who's going around telling people?
- 21:00That bears are not a problem? Yeah.
- 21:01Like oh they're cute. It's fine.
- 21:04It's cool. I also want to note that this
- 21:08was the entrance of muffin. Yeah.
- 21:11Muffins. A cute little dog that's just
- 21:12running around. I don't know what it is.
- 21:15Really nothing else to say about it nothing's.
- 21:17Great has great muffins. Got a bow in her hair, she's got
- 21:22It's white. Fur.
- 21:22That manages to stay pretty clean.
- 21:24Considering she's outside in the woods.
- 21:26Yeah, we're Team muffin all the way here, he is very fond of
- 21:31muffin. Probably more so than Terry is
- 21:34considering how often Terry seems to lose muffin.
- 21:37Yeah. She's super not concerned about
- 21:39muffin. Yeah, so now I'm cuts to the
- 21:43camp, they're having the campfire, and he's given the
- 21:46whole Camp tell of Jason. So, this is some Stuff that I
- 21:52have issue with here. Okay even though I love this
- 21:55movie. So they say that the original
- 21:58events of the first movie were five years ago.
- 22:01Yep. They say that Jason killed.
- 22:04Alice two months later, said he's full grown by then.
- 22:09So he turned from a little boy to a grown man in a matter of
- 22:12two months. He had a training montage as he
- 22:16was preparing for his revenge, I could have been a better.
- 22:22I was just like thinking of It's Always Sunny.
- 22:26I'm talking about like the baby boy thing from boy baby boy and
- 22:34he's like what the fuck are you talking about Charlie baby,
- 22:37boys? He's not a boy.
- 22:38He's a man, maybe that's what Jason was this whole time.
- 22:42Yeah, that didn't that rub me the wrong way.
- 22:45Also, him being a little boy in the first one.
- 22:47Didn't really make sense either. If we follow the timeline of
- 22:49when he drowned versus when this was Was open?
- 22:52Yeah, I actually saw. I really think the continuity is
- 22:56wrong in the first one, so, because they added in that
- 23:00ending, that was bullshit and shouldn't have been in the movie
- 23:02in the first place. But Sean coming in and Tom
- 23:05savini. And I think somebody else, I
- 23:07think I may have been the guy who did the music, but they
- 23:11mentioned how stupid it was that like, okay, so if Jason was a
- 23:17man at this point, and saw this whole thing at this whole time,
- 23:19couldn't he have not told his mother, He was okay.
- 23:22And they could have prevented the entire events of the first
- 23:25thing. Yeah.
- 23:25I have a whole tangent about that in my notes later on
- 23:29because when we see when we see, I know we're not there yet but
- 23:32we see Jason Shack and I was just like man he's not living to
- 23:36well I don't think pets Betsy Palmer would put up with this
- 23:40and then I was like, Whoops. No, she thinks that he's dead.
- 23:44So this kid is going around avenging.
- 23:48His mother's death and protecting his woods but he
- 23:51didn't even tell his mom and dad.
- 23:53He's alive. No like What the hell?
- 23:58Yeah, it's got problems. Yeah.
- 24:01Oh and it that this movie has some problems but I don't think
- 24:04that they really cared well because it wasn't ever.
- 24:06The seagull wasn't ever meant to exist.
- 24:08It was never meant to be a thing in.
- 24:10This is, like, really see here. This is 1981.
- 24:13Yeah, so a year after they obviously scrambled to guess
- 24:17your coil because it was such a success in the box office
- 24:20whenever it release. So I don't think that they were
- 24:23concerned about that. I think they wanted to continue
- 24:25the I mean, rip off. So they went with, okay.
- 24:30We'll have Jason, do it. But you know, you can't have
- 24:33them on do it anymore because she's dead.
- 24:35Yeah, Jason was alive in the answer.
- 24:37Fuck it. Let's just make it Jason this
- 24:38time but I think you know this campfire scene serves much
- 24:43better Exposition than the actual Exposition.
- 24:48We have beginning. Yeah I agree.
- 24:50It should have started with this.
- 24:51Yeah. Because it's important to know
- 24:54that he's like, so. Supposedly protecting his Woods
- 24:58that he is avenging. His mother that you know,
- 25:03they're assuming, but he doesn't understand basic social norms,
- 25:09but she clearly doesn't so it it and it does all play A Part
- 25:15later. It just also makes me really mad
- 25:19that we had to watch those godforsaken flashbacks at the
- 25:22beginning of the movie just to get this.
- 25:24Yeah. I liked this scene in the rec
- 25:28room right after where we get just like little vignettes in
- 25:32two different characters relationships with another.
- 25:34Yeah. You know Scott hitting on Terry
- 25:37Terry shooting him down and then Scott dancing with muffin.
- 25:40Yeah, I thought that was sweet. It's cute.
- 25:42I can't even take it hard. He's just like okay I'm gonna
- 25:44dance with the dog. Now what I would have done in
- 25:46the first place. Yeah, I would have been like not
- 25:48talking to you Terry. I'm talking a muffin muffin, do
- 25:51you want to dance with me? Yeah, that's a good way to
- 25:53establish the characters without like Doing it in such a way.
- 25:57That was so obvious. Yeah, I thought that it was, it
- 26:00was nice because you get a little bit of a glimpse into
- 26:02each bit. Like everybody feels different
- 26:05enough. Yeah.
- 26:08And I mean, obviously, none of these characters is fully
- 26:11fleshed-out, which is to be expected.
- 26:13When you've got this like such a hot, so much about higher number
- 26:19of people to meet and work with, but I think that they did it
- 26:24more effectively than the first movie did with With five
- 26:26Council. Yeah, definitely.
- 26:27Yeah. So I you know that like can I
- 26:30retroactively take points away from the first one?
- 26:33Yeah, because especially God maybe Steve Miner learn from the
- 26:41first one. Maybe he was like, oh, I need to
- 26:44just not just phone it in because this actually is
- 26:47something. Yeah, I don't know.
- 26:49But I like the awkward dancing right in front of the door.
- 26:53I'm just like Muffin sees Jason out there too.
- 26:58Yeah. Muffin is a muffins, a good
- 27:00girl. Yeah, she knows what's up, she's
- 27:03a good girl. We see Paul and Jenny making
- 27:06out. Yeah, this is where we have the
- 27:08whole discussion about him acknowledging that it's not okay
- 27:13area. He makes a comment about how he
- 27:17shouldn't be doing I guess but I mean, I think with they both
- 27:21acknowledged it. They have that history.
- 27:24Yeah, it's not that big of a deal.
- 27:26I don't think he would have done this with any other person
- 27:28there. Yeah, I really do think it's
- 27:30more of a, you know, just a situation where he's got this
- 27:34thing going on and his girlfriend used to be a
- 27:35counselor and she's just going to come help me an assistant.
- 27:39I think really more, the issue is that she showed up late and
- 27:42he's trying not to show favoritism towards.
- 27:45I think that's a big thing with it and just to give and from
- 27:49when you were talking about the original about how you didn't
- 27:52know The age of any of these people, how you thought that
- 27:54they may burn? Maybe were kids themselves
- 27:56everybody here. Is that we stop drinking age?
- 27:58Yes. So they are all over 21.
- 28:00So we're dealing with adults this time?
- 28:02Yeah, I didn't have ambiguity with them this time.
- 28:05They all seem to actually be adults that know how to do adult
- 28:09things. And it just it it even though
- 28:13that that's what I'm saying, the first one, it's so all over the
- 28:15place with the way it's written. But this one is a little bit
- 28:18more, you get much more of a sense of these characters even
- 28:22About anything being explicitly stated, right?
- 28:24Yeah. It's much more effective.
- 28:27Yeah. Ralph you know back to doing his
- 28:31harbinger of Doom thing and he gets sidetracked because I guess
- 28:36he's waiting to see if Paul and Jenny are going to do it.
- 28:38Yeah and he's just outside and then Jason's like hey man pervin
- 28:43ain't cool and this is where we start to see.
- 28:46He's picked up on his mother's morality.
- 28:49Policing. Yeah, because he chokes Ralph
- 28:54out from behind the tree with some wire.
- 28:57See, I don't even think that he has like that morality thing
- 29:00with this. He's just killing.
- 29:01It's just if you're in his territory like you're gonna die
- 29:05because he mean, he does the same thing with the cop later.
- 29:08That's true. I mean but I just it all of the
- 29:11cop did enter his home. Yeah it was running away from
- 29:13the cop. I retract.
- 29:15That's yeah that's that's a stand-your-ground moment but he
- 29:18had every right to Oh that cough.
- 29:20Whoa don't yeah, this is gonna end up on the list.
- 29:25Yeah, yeah. No it and I don't know if it is
- 29:33I you said when we talked about the first one, there is
- 29:37definitely this whole element with this series that everybody
- 29:39knows. If you have sex, you're going to
- 29:41die. And I know it's not just the
- 29:43series, its horror movies in general, but it feels so much
- 29:47more over in this one. This one is one more.
- 29:49Xnn. Yeah, and I don't know if it's
- 29:51just because everybody is horny out here in the woods or, you
- 29:56know, and that tends to be, you know, he's doing all of his
- 30:00stocking in the woods at counselor training at parties
- 30:04at, you know, things like that. But it feels so consistent that
- 30:11it can't just be coincidental. You know what I mean?
- 30:13Yeah, I can see where you're coming from with that and maybe
- 30:17it wasn't intentional. God knows, there's plenty of
- 30:20these movies that don't feel intentional at all.
- 30:22Yeah. But I just think he's more of
- 30:25just like he's just a killer. He's territorial is this thing?
- 30:29Yeah, I don't know, I don't know.
- 30:33I do know that Paul is a dick because it Looks like he wrote
- 30:37on Jenny's mirror with her lipstick.
- 30:40Beware of bears. Did he do that?
- 30:42She woke up in the morning. Yeah.
- 30:44Well, because I think he realized that saying bears are
- 30:46dangerous was dumb, but he wrote beware of bears on her mirror in
- 30:51what looks like lipstick. Wow.
- 30:53And I don't think I have to tell you that if you smashed a tube
- 30:56of my lipstick up against a mirror, I wouldn't be happy.
- 31:01Yeah, I just it's not cute. I hate seeing things like that.
- 31:05And movies were Sick is used car.
- 31:08We watched New York Ripper this weekend to and she's she did her
- 31:11sychar. Yeah.
- 31:12It was using her lipstick to write in a dude's windshield.
- 31:17I just, I really wanted to get across the point that you do not
- 31:21want to fuck with bears. It's like I'm sorry I told you
- 31:24guys the last year that bears are okay.
- 31:27I really want to let you guys know that they are not okay.
- 31:30This time he he feels the same way you do about unedited
- 31:34footage of a bear. Yeah.
- 31:37Got a that short fucks me up. He can't, he can't listen to the
- 31:41song. Sermon stress.
- 31:43He gets sweaty as you can see asleep.
- 31:48So now we're up here. Yeah.
- 31:52Finds Jason because she's a good girl.
- 31:55She knew he was outside last night and she was like, listen,
- 31:58these people are all dumb and I don't want them to die and I'm a
- 32:02good girl. So I'm going to go take care of
- 32:04this. So I want to go ahead and insert
- 32:07this now. Box doesn't die.
- 32:09No, no, I'm thinking of, this is another, It's Always Sunny
- 32:13thing. I'm thinking that this is like a
- 32:15pop in scenario. So Poppins, it looks a lot like
- 32:19Poppins. If you guys are familiar with,
- 32:20It's Always Sunny hot. Is Max dog, that always goes
- 32:24missing and always like they think dies but miraculously
- 32:29comes back every single time. So this is where Poppins dies
- 32:33here, muffin die, our needs Jason, and we're led to believe
- 32:37that he died or she dies. Wait, we we definitely, and,
- 32:42like, Terry. This is what I'm saying, Terry
- 32:44is just chill as fuck about the fact that her dogs Miss and
- 32:47she's like my friends, my family like Terry Foods writers like
- 32:50that fuck muffin. Yeah.
- 32:53Like, which was upsetting because we just saw we just saw
- 32:57muffin confront Jason. Yeah.
- 33:01So after they eat, they go swimming, because the whole no
- 33:04swimming, 30 minutes after you eat is a myth.
- 33:06Mhm. So I'm not gonna deduct points
- 33:09here because good on ya. It's just a cure there.
- 33:13Just you know, what? They're using the energy that
- 33:15their food made from reckoned shitty jokes.
- 33:18Yeah, literally shitty. Jokes Ted is all about these
- 33:21poop jokes, always with the poop jokes.
- 33:25Oh, and somebody says something about a frog in a blender.
- 33:27I forget which one out of us. Jenny.
- 33:29It was a Jew named. Yeah.
- 33:31But Is when Jeff and Sandra decide to sneak off the damn
- 33:34Crystal a court. A blood decide to sneak off,
- 33:37they make they talk about it. Literally within earshot
- 33:41everybody. Syndra's like hey Jeff, remember
- 33:46what I said about wanting to go to cat blood.
- 33:50They won't notice if we leave right now.
- 33:56And you know who did notice nobody, the cop.
- 33:59Oh yeah, notice them in can't blood.
- 34:01The cop is weird because I don't understand the same.
- 34:04Does he just Patrol the whole wake?
- 34:07Just, you know, the he seems very much aware of Jason but he
- 34:11sees, Jason run away from him, but we'll get to that in a
- 34:17second. So he takes them back to the
- 34:20camp. And this is where I'll wait Jeff
- 34:24and Sandra. This is when they come across
- 34:26muffin well, okay, here's what confused me because when they're
- 34:30like, is that a dog? And he was like, I can't even
- 34:33tell what it is. It's clearly muffin.
- 34:38Yeah, it clearly is muffin. And then later when they get
- 34:41back, they can't tear. He's like should we tell our no
- 34:45Sandra swick? Should we tell Terry about
- 34:47muffin and just like, no, I'm just going to pretend I didn't
- 34:51see anything. So could they tell it was
- 34:52muffin? Couldn't they?
- 34:53I don't know. Spoiler.
- 34:56So that way you guys aren't stressed the way.
- 34:58I was the whole time. Muffin isn't dead?
- 35:01I don't know. It's my just be a random dog.
- 35:03Yeah. No it's just very very sad.
- 35:06Yeah, still not cool with the dead animal.
- 35:09No, I didn't like that either. It's kind of unnecessary.
- 35:12Yeah, it really was it really was unnecessary.
- 35:14Muffin could have just been missing.
- 35:16We didn't have to see a dead animal.
- 35:19All right, you know what? Actually I'm gonna give this
- 35:21some that I think that it could have Have actually been muffin
- 35:25dead and I'll explain this way to once we get to the end of the
- 35:29movie. Okay.
- 35:30So they're freaking out over maybe muffin, maybe not muffin,
- 35:35I don't know. And while they're doing that,
- 35:38cop comes up behind them because the cop probably also lives in
- 35:42the woods with Jason and he is not amused.
- 35:48That they're out there because he's been talking around for
- 35:50knows that this was Camp blood and he takes the Bag and Paul
- 35:55just could not give less of a fuck.
- 35:59It's great I love them and I love the way that Paul stuck
- 36:03after them in the scene and the something, oh no discipline or
- 36:07anything. He said jinny, make sure they
- 36:09don't get seconds of deserted. Dinner hell yeah, Paul of that
- 36:13one. So much it was so good.
- 36:15A fucking the other made me love fall like oh no that was that
- 36:19was really great character. Yeah, he's such a change for a
- 36:22lumberjack. Steve doesn't have the same.
- 36:24Fashion sense. So he does lose like half a
- 36:27point there. But overall, he's much better to
- 36:30be running. This counselor trainings.
- 36:32And yeah, he's wearing a Yankees cap here.
- 36:33I have a bone to pick with. Yeah, I was gonna ask how you
- 36:36felt about his baseball team preferences, a Braves fan and
- 36:42it's only the Yankees are even in our week but I just don't
- 36:46know, they're the team that hey, I don't like them.
- 36:48I've been raised to not like them, I don't like them.
- 36:51It's a family tradition. It is.
- 36:54So the cop is, you know, driving home, mumbling to himself,
- 36:58probably practicing All The Comebacks that he wished, she'd
- 37:01said Nepal, as one does in their car, on the way, home from a
- 37:05stressful day at work. And then he sees somebody in the
- 37:09woods and even though he's obviously convince Jason still
- 37:12exist. He's like you know what fuck
- 37:14them kids bro and gets out of his car and starts chasing.
- 37:18This person who was clearly a lot faster than him.
- 37:23Who is this? Really running kind of slow.
- 37:25Its yeah. But yeah, he chases him all the
- 37:28way down into this house. That it appears that Jason has
- 37:34made himself. Our house is generous, it is a
- 37:40pieces of aluminum and like would would there's like some
- 37:46old tarp over top of it. It's just, it's really clearly
- 37:50scraps that he's gathered which is confusing to me because Was
- 37:54this whole part of the woods is you know off-limits to
- 37:59everybody. Yeah.
- 38:00It's being kept as like private property or whatever.
- 38:03I don't think it's actually, I don't know who owns the property
- 38:05technically. Now, the share the cop had said
- 38:08that it's condemned. I don't know how you can condemn
- 38:10woods. But, you know if the Old Camp is
- 38:16empty, why isn't Jason staying in one of the cat.
- 38:19That's what I was thinking too. Why would he lie just build his
- 38:22own home because my life. I can honestly, my first thought
- 38:25was, there's no way that these cabins deteriorated, this badly
- 38:29in five years, and I was like, oh no.
- 38:32He built his own. Cat is his own Shack somehow?
- 38:37He got a toilet. I like that.
- 38:38Yeah, I thought that was so strange that he like he this guy
- 38:42has been living in the woods has entire time but he says his
- 38:44toilet and he understands like it's something that you need.
- 38:47Yeah, I mean how many times do you gotta squat before you
- 38:51decide you just don't want to squat anymore.
- 38:54He's been doing his whole life. Yeah, I just but yeah, he's
- 38:58meant and I mean Jason for all his flaws.
- 39:01He's not a terrible amateur architect.
- 39:03Hmm. So he's got and the cop is just
- 39:07you know, looking around which copper not, you're in somebody's
- 39:14private space without any kind of Reason.
- 39:17Yeah. And this is why I said Jason had
- 39:21a right to do what he had to do. Because this guy is just like
- 39:24breaking into his home and he's I think he's got a gun drawn or
- 39:28he's got a weapon, I think? Maybe not.
- 39:30I don't know. I don't think even announced
- 39:31himself when he came in. No, he just barges in even if he
- 39:34And if he doesn't have a warrant no, he's got no probable cause
- 39:39like oh chasing somebody to their home in the woods.
- 39:43Maybe they don't want to talk to you because you're overreacting.
- 39:47Yeah, can't really blame Jason here but yeah he makes quick
- 39:51work of them to be fair though the cop clearly finds the death
- 39:55Shrine so you know it's true. Yeah we don't know he's not
- 39:58entirely wrong. Yeah.
- 40:00But like you know the cock shouldn't have been there in the
- 40:02first place, there's no way. That he would have known.
- 40:05He actually was going to be stumbling into a serial killers
- 40:08home. Yeah, he did.
- 40:12I mean either way he's not a cop anymore because he's dead right?
- 40:16Um it's it for him. Yeah but we're back to the
- 40:20campsite now and this is when the punishments actually come
- 40:23for Jeff and Sandra which isn't really much.
- 40:27They all the sudden they're going to go out and to the town
- 40:29and drink. Yeah, this is where we separate
- 40:34who is actually important in the cast and who are just there as
- 40:38filler. Yep.
- 40:39Except for maybe three characters, Ginny pain.
- 40:42Paul and Ted are three of the people that go to the bar.
- 40:49And that's just important for a plot points later.
- 40:51Yeah, everybody else goes Jeff and Sandra are required to stay
- 40:58back to watch the camp which I think you know what?
- 41:02That's fair. Yeah, in terms of punishment
- 41:04athletic, you know. They were trespassing in the
- 41:08woods like I just I kind of agree with Paul.
- 41:12Like do you need more intense punishment than that?
- 41:14No it like. Yeah.
- 41:16They're just kids. They feel like Jason is an urban
- 41:20legend at this point. All I really did was just
- 41:24trespassing and it wasn't even enough for the cop to want to
- 41:27give them a citation or anything.
- 41:29So it's we have the rest of them.
- 41:32We have Mark Vicky and yeah, Mark is just to recap, so we're
- 41:38all on the same page. Mark is the guy in the
- 41:42wheelchair after the motorcycle accident?
- 41:44Vicki wants Mark to be inside of her.
- 41:50Terry, still hasn't found. Sky still hasn't gotten Terry
- 41:57interested in him and then obviously we have Jeff and
- 42:03Sandra. Yeah.
- 42:05And this is when the movie ramps up, the whole killing.
- 42:08This is when we start this. Yeah.
- 42:10It's like, it gets to the killing pretty fast.
- 42:13Like it's like one after another.
- 42:14So Terry goes out by herself. And she tries to find muffin.
- 42:21Then decides. She must skinny-dip first baby
- 42:24of boobies in the series. I remember, you had an issue
- 42:26within the first 48. Yes, there are plenty of
- 42:28boobies. Here, Scott, crosses some, you
- 42:33know, more of boundaries by stealing her clothes.
- 42:35Yeah. Like I don't know if I was
- 42:38skinny dipping and you stole my clothes.
- 42:40I'd that's a different thing. It's a different that's a prank.
- 42:42If it's like some random. Do they die like prank?
- 42:45I've consented to nakedness with With you before like he's stolen
- 42:50the hitting on her face and that's just not that's not cool.
- 42:53Yeah and it really like it made me happy that he stopped into
- 42:57the Rope trap because I was like, you know, this is what you
- 42:59desire. I don't think he deserved to
- 43:01die, but to dangled upside down for a few minutes.
- 43:04I thought that was fair. That's fair also side note.
- 43:09Yeah, so the actor that plays Scott Russell Todd.
- 43:12He plays a wreck and shopping mall.
- 43:14I was like, man, that bone structure and those eyebrows
- 43:17look, Awfully familiar to me. I didn't even recognize it.
- 43:20I did, I love Charles a good catch, so yeah, he is side of
- 43:29tied up upside down. I guess they have not covered
- 43:32rope traps, flare snares snares. That's the word that I'm
- 43:37thinking of. They haven't covered snares yet
- 43:39in their counselor training. So Terry is like, let me go get
- 43:43a knife and I'll cut you down but Jason obviously had other
- 43:46plans And because that's his throat.
- 43:50Yep. Which was very much brutal and
- 43:52like that uncut version. It was very brutal.
- 43:55But also, I've never used a machete.
- 44:00Yeah, but I feel like the angle of how the machete past his neck
- 44:06versus where the cut actually was didn't-didn't work.
- 44:10Yeah. It felt instead of, you know,
- 44:12the blade being perpendicular to his neck, it was parallel.
- 44:16Okay, is how it looked on the screen and even if you want to
- 44:21say like maybe it was at a slight angle, she is dropping my
- 44:26neck, right? I am, I'm shopping.
- 44:28That guy even if you want to say that, it's at a slight angle,
- 44:33the business side of the machete or whatever.
- 44:37Isn't the side? That's where the cut appears.
- 44:40Yeah, it's a little bit confusing and I think that's
- 44:44probably more just an editing issue with the way the effects
- 44:47and stuff we're done. Yeah, most likely but that was,
- 44:49it was a little bit distracting and this whole movie has bad
- 44:52fake blood. It's not the worst fake but I've
- 44:54ever seen, but it's all. It's very bright red.
- 44:58Yeah, it's not the worst but it's something worse, it, but
- 45:00it's not the best. I've seen worse.
- 45:03I'm gonna follow Tom savini. Yeah, and good boy.
- 45:06Yeah. You follow Tom savini, but are
- 45:08we just marathon and all of the joy ride movies and there was a
- 45:11lot of bad fake blood in those? So you know my it's all
- 45:16relative, you know? Yeah, it's not bright red paint
- 45:20so I'll excuse it. I think the worst defense is
- 45:23when we see the Bloodshed the bed sheets later that are like
- 45:27bloodied But it's bright red and one blood dries.
- 45:31It gets dark ghost. Yeah, that's true.
- 45:33But it was a fresh as fresh. It would have dried some the
- 45:37water boy. That's a lot of blood, but it
- 45:39wouldn't still be bright. Red agree to disagree.
- 45:43No. I'm right on the agree to
- 45:47disagree. No disagree to agree to
- 45:50disagree. We'll deal with this later.
- 45:52No, it's somewhat. This podcast is I have a lot
- 45:57more experience with blood than you, man.
- 45:59Okay, fine. Okay so we haven't gotten a
- 46:02Terry's death yet Scott gets his throat slit while Terry is
- 46:04looking for the knife then it goes to the bar and shows Ginny,
- 46:08Paul, and Ted are all talking to each other.
- 46:10Ginny thinks that Jason actually like isn't an urban legend, but
- 46:14she's right. But, you know, in Paul, and
- 46:17Ted's defense, why the fuck would they think?
- 46:19She's right? You know what I mean?
- 46:20Yeah, she does use an r word, that's really uncool so I didn't
- 46:25different time. Different time, which doesn't
- 46:28excuse it. But you have to accept this
- 46:32stuff. Just don't like it.
- 46:37Also. They're really shoot like he
- 46:39never was around other kit. He died at Camp.
- 46:42Yeah, I doubt summer camp. He's been around other kids in
- 46:45later movies. It's shown that the kids push
- 46:46them in. Yeah, so I do not did she's not
- 46:50pay attention to all the exposition.
- 46:52She only got can't fire Exposition she didn't get Alice.
- 46:55Exposition No, we're back at the cabin and Terry's died at this
- 47:01point, but whatever will pass over their back at the cabin and
- 47:05Vicki's asking, Mark. If his dick Works in a way, that
- 47:11is what she's asking. It's not subtle at all.
- 47:14No, she is like, full-on flirting with them, which, you
- 47:17know, what, good for you girl. And I like that, she was small
- 47:20to flirt with him without knowing if I'm just gonna be
- 47:22pool full of p and v, you know what I mean?
- 47:25Like he doesn't even really give her an answer.
- 47:27He's like, I find ways. Yeah, I think I'm okay that
- 47:30works. It happens like offers am
- 47:32enjoying is like, I'm training. And she's like, what are you
- 47:35training for? And he gets like this confused.
- 47:37Look on his face. Like, what am I training from?
- 47:40That's the song. Yeah.
- 47:41I keep saying it throughout this movie, but when he's actually
- 47:44asked about it, he doesn't have an answer.
- 47:47It would have been nice to know. I think, let's see if the two
- 47:51video games that she gave him a choice between.
- 47:54We're like, what baseball and hockey and football and hopped
- 47:56up on her. Aqui.
- 47:57So maybe he's training for football and he was sad that she
- 48:01chose hockey. Yeah.
- 48:03He's just like she just can't pick up on any of my hands so
- 48:08she decides she's gonna go. Get sexy.
- 48:13Here's where I need your expertise, okay.
- 48:16She changes out of Black Panties into Brown.
- 48:24Crunchy Santan panties. Yeah.
- 48:27Are those sexier than the black one?
- 48:30And um, they didn't the only difference, I noticed this like
- 48:34that they were a different color but no, it doesn't really affect
- 48:39anything. I mean, she don't quite pleased
- 48:43when she pulled those out of the drawer like yeah, I was kind of
- 48:46surprised personally that that was her special underwear.
- 48:49Like this is your move right here.
- 48:51Okay, so it's not just, you know, know?
- 48:54Okay, I don't know what the lingerie lingerie situation was
- 48:58back in those days, but I wouldn't Really say that.
- 49:01That was a sexy piece of lingerie.
- 49:04Okay. I just wanted to make sure it
- 49:06wasn't just me. And my own personal taste, I
- 49:09thought was interesting that she like sprayed perfume down.
- 49:11Her Underpants is everything. No, it shouldn't be a thing.
- 49:15That's that's how you get a yeast infection.
- 49:17I got in my nose, I was like, cool.
- 49:19You are going to need to go to the doctor soon.
- 49:22Yeah, I didn't think that, that was like, you're gonna have a
- 49:24yeast infection. You're going to have like, some
- 49:27type of it was a UTI. I don't know.
- 49:30You're gonna Do something down there that you don't want to do.
- 49:32This is going to be painful, and you're gonna have to take
- 49:34medicine that sucks. Yeah.
- 49:36Like it's just, it's a bad idea. There are other things you can
- 49:40do. If you want to smell good down
- 49:42in that area with a good bath or shower.
- 49:44Take a bath, take shower. Put some lotion like, you know,
- 49:48on your inner thighs or something, but don't fucking
- 49:51spray perfume down there. She probably also uses a douche
- 49:54ladies, don't use douches. I've heard the vagina is
- 49:58self-cleaning it manages its own pH.
- 50:01Don't listen to Summer's Eve and whatever those other douchey
- 50:04douche companies. Tell you scriptures there wrong,
- 50:06you'll be okay, don't get perfume, don't listen to Travis,
- 50:08he does not have a vagina. I'm sorry if he didn't want
- 50:12anybody to know that it's okay. I saw it in a movie Once Yeah,
- 50:17so she's getting sexy and this is my debatable.
- 50:21So this right here after this, okay?
- 50:23This is Mark's death scene. I would put Mark's death within
- 50:28the top five in the entire franchise.
- 50:30I would put a maybe up as high as you know, for now I'm going
- 50:34to put as number one is probably my number one favorite death in
- 50:37the entire franchise. What are you laughing at My
- 50:40Pain? Yeah I do this all the time.
- 50:42This is really distracting but yeah so Mark's death.
- 50:47Awesome. So he's willing himself out
- 50:49there, it's raining you. Miss what did you point out that
- 50:53this is the second movie out of two movies so far where a woman
- 50:57has been inexplicably outside not wearing pants and it starts
- 51:01to rain wasn't the first one, the Friday 13th.
- 51:05Yeah, okay. Yeah.
- 51:06That's just the thing. Yeah, signature.
- 51:08I'm gonna we're gonna keep track of this if there are.
- 51:11I'm gonna see if there's a pantsless lady in the rain and
- 51:14all of these souls. Okay, we'll see what happens.
- 51:16But But anyways Mark is always willing himself out there and
- 51:20then he like somebody's creeping up from behind them and then
- 51:23bindis good gets like the machete right into his face.
- 51:26Yeah. Carl wheels back.
- 51:29We was all the way down the stairs and I love that shot of
- 51:31like the stairs and like his body just like going down like I
- 51:35it's just so effective, it's so creepy but yeah, it does like a
- 51:39freeze frame when he is halfway down the stairs and part of me
- 51:41wanted to know like how far his body goes.
- 51:45I think it goes all the way down.
- 51:47Is chairs, like handling the stairs surprisingly.
- 51:50Well, I don't understand how they got that shot.
- 51:53You know. I don't think we have seen where
- 51:55Terry died. I do.
- 51:56We have wasn't rotarians. Yeah.
- 51:58She had a forgettable death of. Yeah.
- 52:00I think she probably just died when she went and found Scott
- 52:03dead. I think Jason just killed her.
- 52:05Then I think we see it. Yeah, but I just, yeah, this one
- 52:08has happened. I just don't remember how it
- 52:10happened. Yeah, whatever if she claimed
- 52:13of, yeah that's fine. Can't all be winners.
- 52:17So we get the two-for-one special.
- 52:20Because you get it. Yeah.
- 52:23Jeff and Sandra are all placed post-coital up there.
- 52:28Hmm. And I know they shot that was
- 52:30butchered from getting cut material, which is thank God.
- 52:34Jeff is allowed the Dignity of dying without that stupid
- 52:39fucking hat on his head. Yeah, God, I hated that at all.
- 52:43I could think was AC/DC whenever I saw him.
- 52:47There just is not a good hat. Is not a good look.
- 52:50And also, like, I'm a fake hair to person and he's clearly a
- 52:54thick haired person to you, gotta be careful with Hats.
- 52:57Making sure they fit your head. The right way.
- 52:59Because they will like, sit on top of your hair.
- 53:02Yeah. If they don't fit, right.
- 53:04And it just looks weird and it makes you look like you have an
- 53:06extra big head and that the cut and style of the Hat wasn't
- 53:10flattering either. No, it was not good hat.
- 53:13Yeah, this is what I think is probably the coolest death in
- 53:16the movie. Is just the spear through
- 53:19through both. Of them down to the floor.
- 53:21You like this one better than marks.
- 53:23Yeah, really. I do why?
- 53:25I don't know. Something kind of it's so brief.
- 53:30They died like they died together.
- 53:34I don't know the shot. The extended show is brutal.
- 53:37Yeah, they extended shot is actually, that was probably the
- 53:39most effective of the extended shots because, you know, in the
- 53:43movie, you just see like bloody spear like I go in through the
- 53:47bed, Jason, come up and then you see the bloody spear on the
- 53:49floor. Whereas, in the Extended Cut,
- 53:52You See? It Go through them and you see
- 53:54Sandra's face as she dies and I guess I kind of like the spear,
- 53:58like through his back. He's just wiggling around.
- 54:01Yes, it's good shit, but then Vicky comes back to the cabin,
- 54:08she doesn't know marks, Dad, she hasn't died yet herself and we
- 54:12see baghead Jason of this seem to like it's such a.
- 54:19So it's been a while since I've seen this and I thought that
- 54:22that was actually going to be Jeff under there again, but
- 54:24then, when he came out from under the sheets, like I
- 54:27thought, like holy shit. This is actually really creepy.
- 54:29P. Her death pissed me off because
- 54:32she could have run. She was just standing there.
- 54:35Run Rabbit Run. Like it just Vicky move your
- 54:41ass, but she didn't and she died.
- 54:44She gets stabbed his. Yeah.
- 54:48Paul and Ginny are coming back in the book.
- 54:53So they go back to the bar and they noticed that the power is
- 54:57kind of out the kitchen come back in.
- 54:59They're like all the lights are still on in the cabin and I know
- 55:02that they said this because later, when the power does get
- 55:05cut, they complain about the power being cut.
- 55:07And I was like, well, which one is it?
- 55:08Do you want the lights to be offered?
- 55:10You want them to be on and I know in context what they're
- 55:13saying, makes sense, but it was just kind of funny to have those
- 55:16lines like a minute apart. Yeah.
- 55:20Yeah. They come back and they're, you
- 55:23know, they automatically feel like something isn't right which
- 55:26good on them to not just be like, hmm.
- 55:29This is Weird guess it's probably fine.
- 55:31Like they're like, no this is weird.
- 55:32This is wrong. That go upstairs.
- 55:34They see the bed sheets with the paint on them and then lights
- 55:41out. Turn on the radio.
- 55:44They turn that shit up. Jason and Paul fight while Jenny
- 55:47watches. Yeah!
- 55:48She doesn't it. Help at all.
- 55:50Paul, Paul. Yeah.
- 55:53Paul just watching it. Like she couldn't grab.
- 55:57So smash a base over adjacent. So easy.
- 55:59Pounding something. But Paul has taken out.
- 56:03We get product placement as she runs and hides in the bathroom
- 56:07for her Legions. There right there.
- 56:11And this I think was actually a really effective jump-scare
- 56:14because you know he was pulling on the bathroom door and she's
- 56:18like getting ready to sneak out the window and like you know
- 56:22it's coming but I still I actually literally jumped.
- 56:25Yeah it got me. It's yeah it was it was good, it
- 56:27was effective so She runs the other way through the cabin and
- 56:32somehow Ralph is perfectly propped up in the pantry.
- 56:36I, I don't know exactly how quickly rigor mortis record Mart
- 56:42rigor, mortis rigor, mortis. Good morning sir.
- 56:47No, I'm just I'm doing drag race in my head reg.
- 56:50Amorous girl Reagan Morris who's Morris?
- 56:56No, I don't know exactly how quickly it's not sin but I I
- 56:59think that Ralph's entire body is stiff enough to just be,
- 57:03like, fully up there in the pantry.
- 57:06It's just one of those things that's really meant to be purely
- 57:09cinematic, and it's in so many of these movements and Halloween
- 57:12to also, a problem. It just, it's like, okay, did
- 57:17they did did, uh, did you know Ralph?
- 57:21I don't think that he was there during the whole whole bunch of
- 57:23Doom sing at the beginning. So so she hides under the bed
- 57:29and Jason almost misses her except Iraq, shows up a rat
- 57:34shows up. Did she pee herself because of
- 57:37the Rat? Yeah.
- 57:38So Jason is there. Making sure I understood what
- 57:41happened? No she doesn't.
- 57:42That she's not pissing yourself a Jason there but this rack
- 57:45comes up and gets right up in her face and suddenly I thought
- 57:49that was really bizarre just like seeing like a puddle of
- 57:52piss just coming out from under. I honestly couldn't believe I
- 57:56was like really this is what we're doing here.
- 57:59They were already made multiple poop jokes.
- 58:01Yes, you know live by the sword Die By The Sword.
- 58:04Yes, sir. Um, he notices that and he hides
- 58:08up on a chair. Yeah.
- 58:09I don't like, you know what? This is pretty crafty.
- 58:12Yeah. Except the chair breaks on him
- 58:14and he falls in. This was one of those things to
- 58:17this whole, maybe because I know there are multiple Jason's, like
- 58:21actors for Jason throughout the series.
- 58:23And I'm really like as we're going through these one-by-one
- 58:27and really dissecting, I'm Trying to make sure that like I
- 58:30can see the individual quirks of each Jason and you don't get
- 58:34that a lot with this one. No and it's because as we
- 58:38noticed in the credits, there's you know somebody there's
- 58:41Wellington Gillette on July. Yeah, he is credited as Jason
- 58:47and then there's somebody else that's credited as the prowler,
- 58:49which led us to do some digging because we were trying to figure
- 58:52out, you know, if it's like a, the shape deal or whatever,
- 58:55believe it is. There's still going after that
- 58:57Halloween thing but note there We're so many people that stood
- 59:01in for Jason and this film. So Gillette was purely like that
- 59:07final scene where you see him without a bag that's when
- 59:10Gillette was in there and the guy that played Jason the entire
- 59:14time, which I'm guessing was credited.
- 59:16He's actually uncredited. The guy that actually plays
- 59:18Jason. Yeah.
- 59:19Because pissed off they didn't get credit for it.
- 59:21Yeah and there were there were so many people that filled in at
- 59:26various points in this major be good.
- 59:29It's a woman. Yeah, yeah, like and there are
- 59:31members of the production crew, only one person credit card is
- 59:34the prowler, but I think that kind of explains why we don't
- 59:36get a full sense of this Jason yet.
- 59:38So it's really kind of hard as we go through and we try and
- 59:41figure out our favorite. Jason's as we tried like,
- 59:47dissect the different Jason's throughout the series, it's
- 59:50going to be almost impossible to include this one in it, just
- 59:55because it was multiple people. And I don't think they really
- 59:57had a good feeling for it. Did you happen to look up?
- 1:00:00What the production time? Was for this movie?
- 1:00:02How quickly did they film it? So yeah.
- 1:00:04Um, looks like they began principal photography on October
- 1:00:093rd, and it went until November. So 1980s is all back in like the
- 1:00:15year that the original really. So they did this all within a
- 1:00:17month, okay. So this was all super fast and
- 1:00:19that probably explains why they didn't have a fully fleshed-out
- 1:00:22plan for everything then yeah, this is Jason though he's
- 1:00:26creepy. I like every boy he's kind of
- 1:00:28bumbling here in the The end, he is like falling all over the
- 1:00:31place, our kind of Life, the moment where, Jenny came at him
- 1:00:35with the chainsaw. And he actually had a very human
- 1:00:38moment. Yeah.
- 1:00:39He put the hands up and I liked that.
- 1:00:41Yeah, that was a good touch. I was.
- 1:00:42He's so yeah. He still is very much human,
- 1:00:46have a child. So to, yeah, so I thought that
- 1:00:49was a nice touch but that's really the only sense of an
- 1:00:51actual personality. You get from this particular
- 1:00:54Jason and I think that's part of the reason why it's just they
- 1:00:57had a lot of people in there and they Hadn't really decided on a
- 1:01:01full. Yeah, there's still winging it.
- 1:01:04Yeah. But she goes into his home
- 1:01:10where? Yeah, she finds the his whole
- 1:01:14mother Shrine and she quickly puts together that, hey, this is
- 1:01:20Jason, this is his mom and somehow knows like, hey, if I
- 1:01:24pretend to be his mom and put on the sweater.
- 1:01:26So that's where the story about the camp.
- 1:01:29Fire at the beginning comes in because they talked about how he
- 1:01:32saw his mom get beheaded. Yeah, so we know that he's got
- 1:01:35those mommy issues there and she RT you know doesn't think very
- 1:01:39highly of Jason and whatever. Differing mental abilities from
- 1:01:46her might have she's like, hey I'm going to manipulate this guy
- 1:01:50which whatever life-or-death situation.
- 1:01:52It's, you know, not the terrible idea because it does mostly
- 1:01:57work. Until she moves, just enough for
- 1:01:59him to see his mother's head. Yeah, on the shrine still, but
- 1:02:03this ending or this scene right here.
- 1:02:05It's does a good job of it makes you think that it's like, the
- 1:02:09end of the movie, because it does the similar shot of the
- 1:02:12first warning kind of ghosts Cuomo.
- 1:02:13And Grabs the weapon and like a Texan.
- 1:02:17Except he covers it by, you know.
- 1:02:20Paul is there he shows up and saves the day.
- 1:02:23Yeah. Somehow he's alive.
- 1:02:24Yeah, I don't understand all that.
- 1:02:26Jason doesn't double tap either apparently.
- 1:02:29But yeah. So they end up maybe Jason there
- 1:02:31and decided to hack. The machete deep in his
- 1:02:35shoulder, his machete as sharp as should.
- 1:02:37Yeah. Ooh, that was a nice
- 1:02:39alliteration. Yeah.
- 1:02:42But yeah. They're back in the cabin.
- 1:02:44And this is a great scene. So I wanted.
- 1:02:48This is where I want to hear your theories about.
- 1:02:50Okay, so let's go with the dog, okay?
- 1:02:53So what happens in this scene, they're back there and then they
- 1:02:57hear a noise outside the door. They hear the door creaking,
- 1:03:01they open the door and it's the dog.
- 1:03:03So this is the Poppins scenario where you're like, it didn't
- 1:03:06die. It was just a lot of the entire
- 1:03:08time. It looked like it was dead but
- 1:03:10in reality. Okay, so the dog is there and
- 1:03:12then they go back and Jason has like another jump scene where he
- 1:03:16bursted window which I thought was another girl, another good
- 1:03:20jump, scare did not see it coming.
- 1:03:21Yeah way more effective than the original one also fun fact
- 1:03:25apparently he hurt himself doing the his first try because the
- 1:03:28window did not pray. So he just hit his head really
- 1:03:30hard. Oh yeah.
- 1:03:32Good. That happens like five pounds of
- 1:03:34Prosthetics on. Yeah, we get a glimpse of his
- 1:03:37face and how its disfigured here.
- 1:03:38Again, I thought they did a really good job of making it
- 1:03:41look like a more grown-up version.
- 1:03:43Yeah. Jason Yeah, like really long
- 1:03:45hair to. Yeah, I thought that was good
- 1:03:48effects work there for Carl. So it cuts out after that and it
- 1:03:53fades back to the ambulance. So so the okay this is my I've
- 1:03:57got a lot of issues with this but I'll let you give your thing
- 1:04:00first. I think that this is a play on
- 1:04:03like how the original was where you kind of think it was more
- 1:04:06dreamlike. Again the reason I think it's
- 1:04:08kind of dreamlike is because the dog comes back but we saw
- 1:04:12earlier in the movie, the dog is dead.
- 1:04:15So, I don't think that this is something that really happens or
- 1:04:17does it. It's like one of those like
- 1:04:19weird like, makes you think like, is this real?
- 1:04:22I think we're led to believe. It's not.
- 1:04:25So you know, how we had that, 20 minutes of padding at the
- 1:04:29beginning of the movie. Yeah, there was 20 more minutes
- 1:04:32worth of story, right? Fucking here.
- 1:04:35Yeah. Because I was just, I was pissed
- 1:04:36off. How is it the next day?
- 1:04:38Where the ambulance come from? And obviously, obviously the
- 1:04:43answer is that the Of the counselors came back from the
- 1:04:46bar, right? Like we know that they were
- 1:04:48supposed to come back. You know they probably came back
- 1:04:51later than they were supposed to because Paul had made the
- 1:04:53comment of when this bar closes come back to the camp and then
- 1:04:56Ted immediately goes Hayworth after-hours places.
- 1:04:59Yeah. So we know that they're going to
- 1:05:00be back later than they're meant to and I think that was meant to
- 1:05:02lead up to something else. Okay but we don't ever see those
- 1:05:06other counselors coming back even though clearly they're the
- 1:05:09ones that came back and were able to call the ambulance and
- 1:05:12everything but but how did none of Them died.
- 1:05:15How did they find everybody? I feel like there was so much
- 1:05:18more story to be told here on the back end that just got left
- 1:05:21out. Completely in favor of
- 1:05:23rehashing, the end of the first movie at the beginning of this
- 1:05:26one. Yeah.
- 1:05:27I think that I don't know. I know what you're saying and
- 1:05:31they could have flush this out more but I think that the way
- 1:05:33that they did it was good. I think the like leaving that
- 1:05:36mystery. It's kind of how they did it.
- 1:05:38The first time, I feel like they did a much more effectively this
- 1:05:41time, you don't even know about Paul.
- 1:05:43She's asking. By Paul, nobody's answering her
- 1:05:45like, was Paul really there. Did she like successfully kill
- 1:05:50him the first time and like everything afterwards was like
- 1:05:52all like a host nation like she stumbles back to the cabin and
- 1:05:56you know like who's and it's all this stuff from like I don't
- 1:05:58know what's up boys? I can't remember if she actually
- 1:06:00got. Yeah she did her legs.
- 1:06:02Yeah. So she could have been loosening
- 1:06:05this whole time. It's just meant to be like
- 1:06:07they're they're clearly making it like a thing where you're
- 1:06:11just guessing like what is real? I'm like they Would have done.
- 1:06:14That were also showing like glimpses of the other counselors
- 1:06:18coming back and seeing things that would have ruined it.
- 1:06:21I don't think it would have because I have more questions
- 1:06:25that it doesn't questions that don't feed into that ambivalence
- 1:06:29questions that are just like logistically.
- 1:06:32You know, how did other counselors not die if Jason jump
- 1:06:37through the way? You know what I mean?
- 1:06:39Like, well if you're in like I don't know the way that I'm
- 1:06:42thinking like I think that you're You're supposed to think
- 1:06:45that he did die in the original or he's always put down like,
- 1:06:49for the time being after the altercation at his house and
- 1:06:53that she just made her way back there.
- 1:06:55You just assumed. Like he had already assumed that
- 1:06:57they come back and they called the cops I get doesn't have to
- 1:07:01say it all, but it also like, leaves out key, things like
- 1:07:04that. Just to like, make you guess.
- 1:07:06I don't like it. I don't like it.
- 1:07:08I feel like, I feel like the middle of this movie was decent,
- 1:07:12but the beginning. And the end.
- 1:07:14For not beginning everything aside from the flashback I loved
- 1:07:19that it was strong thought the metal is strong that the ending
- 1:07:22was strong thought that this was a great movie, much better than
- 1:07:25the original much better than the original.
- 1:07:27But I still have a lot of problems with it.
- 1:07:29I still don't think it like, it's creepier.
- 1:07:33Yeah, I will give it that for sure.
- 1:07:35And it was more enjoyable to watch, but I think it just still
- 1:07:40feels very like, very sophomore. You know what I mean?
- 1:07:43Hmm. Like, well, I had issues.
- 1:07:47So okay. Well after all this, what do you
- 1:07:50want to rate it now after we've discussed it?
- 1:07:53You know what? I work myself up into a frenzy
- 1:07:55I'm knocking it down to a five. I'm fucking pissed.
- 1:08:02Oh shit, dude. Well guess what?
- 1:08:04I didn't give it a 10 like you gave the which so I can still
- 1:08:06improve the score after the talking about that ending
- 1:08:09because I've made that realization actually kind of as
- 1:08:11we were talking about this or that theory.
- 1:08:14That it was all kind of like pop.
- 1:08:16What I keep calling a pop in this muffin is a not actually
- 1:08:20dead. I'm going to bump it up to 9
- 1:08:23because I think it's a good improves upon the first one in
- 1:08:26every way. It's would generally creepy
- 1:08:29throughout the entire movie. Jason is like scary in this.
- 1:08:32I think I just think that they did a great job is very
- 1:08:35effective. All right well that brings our I
- 1:08:39can't do math. Our average stayed the same.
- 1:08:41Yeah that's till 7:00. I didn't do that intentionally.
- 1:08:44Really do that. But I will generally like to
- 1:08:46think it was better after discussing it.
- 1:08:48I don't think it was a nine out of ten son.
- 1:08:50It's a 9 out of 10. It's not.
- 1:08:52All right, so we're going to talk about Talia here.
- 1:08:55Okay, so my Italian notes. Let's give Concepts about.
- 1:09:00Talia the forend it's Alia. And previously had been kind of
- 1:09:06sleepy. Yeah, she had a sleepy weekend.
- 1:09:09We've been dealing with the all of the snow and ice to Travis
- 1:09:13was working. I'm home for basically the whole
- 1:09:16week and tally has just been sleepy.
- 1:09:19And she just didn't want to deal with our bullshit.
- 1:09:21This weekend's like normal. We thought she was there.
- 1:09:23Something wrong with? Yeah, we were to the point where
- 1:09:25I'm like, are you sick? But she got like a good nap in
- 1:09:28while we did grocery shopping and went back to her normal
- 1:09:30self. So, she was back back to being
- 1:09:33playful and she sat down as we started to watch this movie.
- 1:09:36Her ears were perking up at this music, but then, once she saw
- 1:09:41Alice was asleep, she was like, oh, fuck this.
- 1:09:43I'm not dealing with Beginning of this and she went to sleep
- 1:09:46for a little bit. Travis had the audacity to move
- 1:09:50his feet on the couch that he was sharing with Talia, which
- 1:09:55prompted her to jump up and decide that she needs to go out
- 1:09:58right then and there. So it was about 49 minutes and
- 1:10:01is when she like scratched at the door, she came back in and
- 1:10:06she decided she was going to play with her toys.
- 1:10:09She slam-dunked one of them into her toy basket.
- 1:10:12Yeah. It was me They were at the bar
- 1:10:14and like the rock music was playing, she's like she was
- 1:10:17feeling, it was feeling it, she was whipping her toys around.
- 1:10:21She was doing her wool Victory whips.
- 1:10:23She tried to demand a plastic water bottle from Travis to chew
- 1:10:27on. That's one of her.
- 1:10:29Other favorite things to do in the movie is get her loudest
- 1:10:32toys. Yeah.
- 1:10:32So we can't hear anything and then when Travis it after the
- 1:10:37movies, she barked at us for a few minutes.
- 1:10:39So we had to pause it at about 55 minutes, to get her to calm
- 1:10:43down. I got it up on the Karen at an
- 1:10:46hour we paused because she was intimidated by our nine pound
- 1:10:51cat that had taken her spot on the couch and she wanted to get
- 1:10:54back up there, but she can't do that by herself even though she
- 1:10:57weighs oh, 60 65 pounds, more than the cat.
- 1:11:03Yeah, so we had to pause yet again, to, to get her situated
- 1:11:08on the couch. So I'm going to say, all in all
- 1:11:10Talia, probably thinks this movie's not entirely.
- 1:11:14Only worth watching but she did like the music.
- 1:11:16Yeah, how I listen is yeah, she was feeling the music so I think
- 1:11:21she would give give that. Yeah, she's a solid.
- 1:11:25Yeah. All right, who did you?
- 1:11:30Who did you relate to the most? And this maybe try this, I
- 1:11:33waited to Paul because he had his shit together and he was
- 1:11:37just kind of like a, he was a good guy.
- 1:11:40I everybody else was kind of, you know, I didn't pay anybody
- 1:11:44in this movie, they were all good.
- 1:11:45Even like the comedian Ted like you at least was charismatic and
- 1:11:51his jokes, may not have been good, but he was, I could tell
- 1:11:54that he would probably be fun to be around.
- 1:11:57What about you? I really did the most to mark
- 1:12:01because I am also training for what Any other final thoughts on
- 1:12:12this? Nope, we'll come back for part 3
