- 0:00SPEAKER_01: When was the last time you couldn't wait for tomorrow?
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: For a lot of people, there comes a point where life becomes more about routine than anticipation.
- 0:09SPEAKER_01: The career changes, the kids grow up, our old mission ends.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: And suddenly the question isn't just what am I doing next?
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: It's what am I actually looking forward to?
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Today's conversation is about mission, the second silent war, and finding something that makes the next chapter worth stepping into.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Your Thoughts, Your Reality with Michael Cole, the podcast that shines a compassionate light on the journey of veterans battling through life's challenges.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Michael is a dual elite certified neuroencoding specialist in coaching and keynote training presentations, dedicated to guiding military veterans as they navigate the intricate pathways of post-deployment life.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Join him as we delve into the profound realm of neuroencoding science, empowering these brave individuals to conquer universal battles, procrastination, self-doubt, fear, and more.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Together, let's uncover the strength within you to re-engage with families and society, forging a new path forward.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: My dear friend Marcus Weiss is a joy empowerment coach, speaker, performer, and neuron coding specialist.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: His performing career has included Blue Man Group, Cirque.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: I don't even know how do you say it?
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Circus Cirque du Soleil?
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: Cirque du Soleil.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Thank you, sir.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: I've never known how to do that.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: Look at me learning stuff.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: And decades of connecting with audiences through theater.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Early in his life, Marcus experienced depression before rediscovering purpose through creativity and performance.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: And today he helps people reconnect with possibility, confidence, joy, and a reason to move forward.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: His work asked a powerful question.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: What makes you want to experience the next moment?
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Marcus, welcome back to your thoughts, your reality.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: And of course, people that don't know you yet, tell us a little more about yourself.
- 2:08SPEAKER_04: Thank you very much for that beautiful introduction, Michael.
- 2:11SPEAKER_04: It's such an honor to be back on your podcast.
- 2:13SPEAKER_04: And thank you for the service that you provide.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: Not just the audience that you serve, but by extension, anything that I serve.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: Because being on here uplifts us in this moment and beyond, because I leave this moment wanting to create other moments, inspired by having been here.
- 2:33SPEAKER_04: So I thank you for that.
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: Like you shared in that amazing introduction, which always sounds so great to me.
- 2:40SPEAKER_04: So I'm so grateful and happy that it should translate, that my personal mission translates into words that you can share.
- 2:48SPEAKER_04: So I'm Marcus Weiss.
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: By profession, I'm an actor, director, and a producer.
- 2:53SPEAKER_04: And by mission, I'm a joy empowerment coach.
- 2:55SPEAKER_04: And like you, I'm a dual elite certified neural encoding specialist.
- 2:58SPEAKER_04: And that means I help people default into what my jam is.
- 3:03SPEAKER_04: And my jam is joy, which I hope is their jam too, or becomes even more their jam.
- 3:10SPEAKER_04: I, like you said, I grew up in Switzerland on welfare.
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: I always like to add somehow I feel compelled to add that.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: And in growing up, performance was just one of the things that I did.
- 3:26SPEAKER_04: And I share that because when I got to college and experienced depression, I found myself unfolding again in performance.
- 3:36SPEAKER_04: And I found a joy in performance.
- 3:38SPEAKER_04: What I didn't realize at the time was that the safety of a theater environment or the safety of a film set, that sort of isolated world in a way, almost that cocoon, was really helpful to me.
- 3:51SPEAKER_04: So, you know, I could rewrite my script in my head, I could, I could, I could feel the feelings, I could do the things, and at the end, I automatically get applause because that's what people do, you know?
- 4:01SPEAKER_04: And so the performing that I did was met with with applause and subsequent success.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: And I went to graduate school after that for acting because I craved, quite honestly, that that cocoon.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: I was afraid to go out into the quote unquote real world.
- 4:19SPEAKER_04: And then I finally did go out into the real world and I continued to have success in and through acting.
- 4:26SPEAKER_04: I came to Vegas and created, you know, I was part of the founding cast of Blue Man Group here in Las Vegas and did that for a long time.
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: And what I didn't realize that in that in my life, I was also performing in a way, that I was playing a role in my life too.
- 4:48SPEAKER_04: And that I had the ability to write, so to speak, and create the role that I wanted to play in life off the stage.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: But I wasn't, I wasn't given the script.
- 4:59SPEAKER_04: I wasn't, there's there was nobody out there helping to direct my the the show that I was putting on.
- 5:06SPEAKER_04: But I was still sort of, I'm gonna just say it, I was kind of trapped in being performative, which meant like, what is what does this outside world need from me in order to, in order to for me to to get that that applause, but I was kind of lost ultimately and it caught up to me until I found neural encoding, quite frankly, through through online sources, just like this, man.
- 5:30SPEAKER_04: I mean, I just found like, oh, I can I can use things, I can do things with intention and attention on purpose and to change what's happening up here, either add something or take something away.
- 5:45SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: You know, it's it's it's funny because we it, you know, in and yes, trained after all the stuff.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: So you're really good at it.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: But with that said, we but we all wear masks, right?
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and to some extent, depending on who we're talking to, or if we're at work, or we're doing whatever we're doing, there are masks that we wear until we decide we're gonna release them and let the world see us for who we really are.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: So I I really love what you're saying for the vulnerability.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: And I also want to say, yeah, I grew up in the United States on welfare too, so I get you.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: So, you know, that was just that time.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: I'm sure it was for you too.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Her parents struggled, and you know, the system was there.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Of course, it wasn't the entire time, but it was it was needed at the time.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: So I I I love that you brought that up because a lot of people think when people are successful, they didn't have that dark past or that harder upbringing, or whatever the case may be, and it's beautiful that you brought that up.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: So thank you.
- 6:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we all so so, Marcus.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: You know, we've talked before about join and inner peace, right?
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: This time we want to go deeper though.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: So, you know, what's the difference between feeling okay today and actually having something that makes you want tomorrow to come?
- 7:07SPEAKER_04: The difference is feeling okay now, let's say, in in this in this moment.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: We can for lack of a different word, trick ourselves, or maybe even fool ourselves, that it has to do with the outside world, what we're seeing in front of us and what's happening.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: So when that when we when we experience feeling okay or or joyful or filled with awe or wonder, we we look out and it's like, oh, Michael's here, I'm on a podcast, or it's quiet, or I have a nice meal in front of me, whatever.
- 8:01SPEAKER_04: When we think about looking forward to tomorrow, all of a sudden there's uncertainty that creeps in because whether we're aware of it or not, nobody can really foretell the future.
- 8:15SPEAKER_04: We're really just making educated guesses based on yesterday, based on what we know.
- 8:22SPEAKER_04: We think we we sometimes we think we can for better and for worse.
- 8:26SPEAKER_04: We think we can predict the future so that somebody says, like, oh boy, tomorrow I gotta go to work, or tomorrow this is happening, or tomorrow that's probably gonna happen again, or conversely, like, tomorrow I'm gonna go to work and and and and Sandra's gonna be there and and it's gonna be great, and I can't wait to whatever.
- 8:42SPEAKER_04: And yet, in reality, all we're doing is using our imagination to make an educated guess as to what's gonna be there tomorrow.
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: And so, and so looking forward to tomorrow requires thoughts.
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: Your thoughts your reality podcast requires us to have yeah, to have thoughts inside that combined with the meaning that we attach to those thoughts.
- 9:12SPEAKER_04: What do those thoughts mean?
- 9:13SPEAKER_04: I'm going to work tomorrow.
- 9:15SPEAKER_04: Is that a good thing?
- 9:17SPEAKER_04: Or is that a is that a scary thing?
- 9:21SPEAKER_04: And then so that meaning, and then that creates a feeling, a feeling of tickle, a feeling of peace, a feeling of, you know, sort of heated excitement.
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: So that's so that's the difference.
- 9:33SPEAKER_04: And yet, in both cases, now, in this moment, feeling okay and looking forward to tomorrow, it's the same imagination.
- 9:44SPEAKER_04: Because really, you're you're looking around yourself in this moment, and you're tricky, you're fooling yourself if you think it really has to do with the outside.
- 9:52SPEAKER_04: What it has to do with how you interpret the outside, it has to do with that same imagination and that that same meaning that you're attaching to it.
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: So, my invite my uh invitation to those listening and watching is I invite you to consider that if you have the capacity to feel even remotely okay or even good, peaceful, at ease, excited, even a little bit, in this moment, you have the capacity to feel the same about a moment to come, which includes tomorrow.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: Absolutely love that.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: You know, so many people are just stuck in the spin cycle, right?
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: And just everyday life and everyday life when they don't realize that your thoughts are creating your belief system about tomorrow and today and the past.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: You know, so let's let's let's if we can't, let's let's talk just a little bit about how we change that, if you will.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Yes, I've already thrown the questions out the window.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Surprising.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: So so let's talk about how do we change that, right?
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: We're in a dark place where we we have to go to work or we need to do the laundry or whatever the case may be.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: How do we change that to being excited?
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: Let's call it excited anticipation, which I love to use instead of anxiety or overwhelm or any of those things.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: How do we change it from I have to to you know me, get to, right?
- 11:26SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay.
- 11:28SPEAKER_04: I I smile because I think there's a lily pad in between I have to and I get to.
- 11:37SPEAKER_04: And that lily pad, meaning there's one, there's one little let little step.
- 11:41SPEAKER_04: If the step from I have to to I get to seems too overwhelming, or even that seems like what?
- 11:47SPEAKER_04: Because it because for some people it is in a similar way that for teenagers, for example, sometimes the word happiness is too big of a step.
- 11:58SPEAKER_04: Like, don't you just want to be happy?
- 12:00SPEAKER_04: What are you talking about?
- 12:01SPEAKER_04: That's not even in my sphere of existence.
- 12:04SPEAKER_04: Like, no, no, instead, it's like, hey man, do you want to feel a little more chill, a little more relaxed, or whatever, you know, less anxious?
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: That's like a little step, like, yeah, yeah, of course, okay.
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: And you nudge him towards that.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: So instead of saying I have to, just say I'm going to work, I'm dropping off my kid at school.
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: I'm going shopping.
- 12:36SPEAKER_04: Not I have to go shopping and not I get to go shopping yet, just I'm going shopping.
- 12:43SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: Then when you're going shopping, let's say you go, you're going shopping, remember you said, I'm going shopping.
- 12:54SPEAKER_04: Then you say, I either in the moment you go, I'm doing it, I'm shopping.
- 13:02SPEAKER_04: I'm shopping.
- 13:04SPEAKER_04: Then on purpose, you look at your hand and you say, That's my hand, and you give yourself a little pat on the back.
- 13:10SPEAKER_04: If your shoulder hurts because of your rotator cuff injury like I have, you can just pat yourself on your beautiful chest, and then you go, I'm amazing.
- 13:18SPEAKER_04: Or I'm I'm I'm good.
- 13:21SPEAKER_04: Or I'm a decent human, whatever it is that feels okay to you in terms of a little praise, a little praise.
- 13:32SPEAKER_04: And then, like we like to do, you celebrate a little bit.
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: You just go, I'm a good person.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: Yay, just a little bit.
- 13:42SPEAKER_04: So that, so that you can take ownership of your life and ownership of telling yourself that you are doing a good thing, and talk about meaning, if you're doing something that's even remotely good, you are, dare I say, a good person.
- 14:03SPEAKER_04: And who doesn't want to be around a good person?
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: You want to be around a good person.
- 14:08SPEAKER_04: So all of a sudden you're telling yourself a good person, you're like, oh, I'm a good, I'm a good person.
- 14:11SPEAKER_04: So if you just keep taking ownership of doing things, I believe, and it's coming from experience, gratitude starts to creep in.
- 14:21SPEAKER_04: Gratitude starts to creep in without you even naming it.
- 14:25unknown: Yeah.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: And here's here's another thing, right?
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: Is the more that we do this, and and we'll talk about this real briefly.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: I can't believe we're already halfway done.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: So uh, it's perfect.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: It's perfect, it's beautiful.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: So, you know, with when you work the muscle, right?
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: And you do these little steps to whatever extent feels right for you, and I love that you brought that up.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: The more you do it, the more you progress.
- 14:53SPEAKER_01: And and again, we know we know the analogy.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: Don't go into the gym and one day, one time for one hour and come out looking like an Arnold Schwarzenegger, right?
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: You you work, you work the exercise, if you will.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: So talk about that just for a second.
- 15:07SPEAKER_04: Yes, you work, you work the exercise.
- 15:09SPEAKER_04: And I'm gonna go on the record for saying this.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: Let me be the set the bar low guy.
- 15:16SPEAKER_04: Let me be the let the bar, let the set the bar low guy.
- 15:19SPEAKER_04: And by that I mean uh not that I can't help you create a vision to go a thousand miles.
- 15:26SPEAKER_04: But, and I use this word on purpose, but the journey of a thousand miles begins with little steps, consistent, small steps, consistent small steps.
- 15:35SPEAKER_04: So physically, it's gonna take some takes some time and it takes little steps over time.
- 15:40SPEAKER_04: Emotionally, and imagine in imagination-wise, I can get you to a place where you're feeling amazing in the moment.
- 15:47SPEAKER_04: And I and I do this if that's what the client wants, whether a corporate client or whether an individual client, I can get you there.
- 15:54SPEAKER_04: So, so you feel strong and inspired or whatever.
- 15:58SPEAKER_04: But how do how to get there so that you yourself can sustain it once I'm not there?
- 16:06SPEAKER_04: Because that's the reason I exist, is to is to coach myself out of a job so that when you leave, you have those tools to take those small steps consistently to get you to whatever level of energy and excitement or joy, awe and wonder that that you choose.
- 16:23SPEAKER_04: So when I either on stage or off stage get people or empower people, enable people to get to a to a feeling of aliveness and greatness.
- 16:40SPEAKER_04: I don't guarantee I'm not guaranteeing that they can stay there once they leave.
- 16:44SPEAKER_04: It might last for like, you know, an hour or whatever it is.
- 16:47SPEAKER_04: But what I'm doing is I am proving to them that their system is capable of being in that state of excitement, of joy, of awe, or wonder, or peace, or whatever it is that the place that we get there together.
- 17:02SPEAKER_04: So you I am proving that you can be the Hulk or that you can be super strong.
- 17:10SPEAKER_04: How to get there on your own over time.
- 17:13SPEAKER_04: That's that comes with the tools that that you and I both share with people.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Does that make sense?
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Because once they know they can go to to Disneyland, or once they know, oh, I've been to the promised land, I know what it feels like.
- 17:30SPEAKER_04: I've been to the promised lands.
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: Okay, now let's take a step back and teach the small steps how to get there on your own.
- 17:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, build the muscle with consistency and action, right?
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 17:40SPEAKER_01: So if we can, I I want to go again kind of because I want people to realize you're not, first of all, you're not alone.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: It's a human condition, right?
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: But and the there's a there's processes to bring you to the to the light out of the darkness, right?
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: You just need to crack the light, right?
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Just so you can you you know it's there so you can move towards it or be pulled towards it.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: So, you know, you described a moment while catering at the Lincoln Center when something inside you basically said, This isn't my life.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: How do we recognize that moment when we're older and the life we built is is perfectly respectable, but no longer feels alive.
- 18:25SPEAKER_04: So you just went dark.
- 18:28SPEAKER_04: I'm not sure if you're still there, but and I'm gonna answer that that question.
- 18:33SPEAKER_04: Exactly what you said.
- 18:36SPEAKER_04: If you are having a thought and a feeling that something is off.
- 18:43SPEAKER_04: In my case, I was catering at Lincoln Center and I had two bottles of wine, and I I I literally had the thought, this is not my life, this is not me.
- 18:52SPEAKER_04: And so it was a like a lightning bolt.
- 18:55SPEAKER_04: So there was an intense thought, voice, an intense meaning of this is not good news, and therefore an intense feeling of something's gotta change.
- 19:06SPEAKER_04: Something's gotta change.
- 19:08SPEAKER_04: And I would invite anyone to consider that even a smaller thought and a less intense meaning attached, leading to yet an unresourceful feeling like something's off.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: That's still a little warning light.
- 19:29SPEAKER_04: That's still saying, that's still a voice inside of you, or if you believe coming from outside of you, that something is not in alignment.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: And it is not until you automatically default, that is go to a feeling of peace and integrity, or looking forward and wanting to embrace life.
- 19:52SPEAKER_04: It's not until you feel that on a consistent basis that you default to that.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Hey, Marcus, that you wouldn't listen to to uh to voices like hey everybody and Marcus, my camera stopped working, and I'm having some technical issues on my side.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: We're gonna go ahead and continue.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: Yes, uh, we just get to look at Marcus.
- 20:12SPEAKER_04: Okay, great.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: So okay.
- 20:14SPEAKER_04: Uh I just wanted to explain what was happening there, brother.
- 20:17SPEAKER_04: Cool.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: That's kind of you.
- 20:19SPEAKER_04: So so until you're always defaulting to resourcefulness and those voices don't come up or those thoughts don't come up, pay attention to those voices, even if they're small.
- 20:33SPEAKER_04: If something, it's like if something smells weird in the house, right?
- 20:38SPEAKER_04: Something's going on.
- 20:40SPEAKER_04: You know, if if if if your life is is walking like a duck and it's quacking like a duck, it's probably a duck.
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: So, in other words, something is out of alignment unless you feel in alignment.
- 20:50SPEAKER_04: And alignment doesn't always feel like, oh, the oh, the day.
- 20:55SPEAKER_04: Yes, of course.
- 20:56SPEAKER_04: I wake up every day on purpose.
- 20:58SPEAKER_04: I put my hands together and I say thank you.
- 21:00SPEAKER_04: And then I take my fingers and I go, it's gonna be a great day.
- 21:03SPEAKER_04: You know, that's just that's a habit.
- 21:04SPEAKER_04: It makes me smile just enough to to feel just good enough, to, to, to get to move just enough, to get out of bed.
- 21:11SPEAKER_04: So, so that's my default.
- 21:13SPEAKER_04: That happens automatically.
- 21:14SPEAKER_04: And so you'll know when your life is in alignment because you it's there's gonna come a time where you either don't have those thoughts and feelings anymore, that this is not your life, that this is not okay.
- 21:28SPEAKER_04: Or when you do have those thoughts, you automatically default into like, you know what?
- 21:33SPEAKER_04: That's that monkey on my shoulders, and that's not me.
- 21:36SPEAKER_04: It's gonna be a great day.
- 21:38SPEAKER_04: Boom, I'm back.
- 21:39SPEAKER_04: Or or stop, I'm freaking amazing.
- 21:42SPEAKER_04: All the techniques that I that I use because I know that those voices are not me.
- 21:46SPEAKER_04: I've learned that those voices are not me.
- 21:48SPEAKER_04: But you have to pay attention to that warning light if you're feeling something is off.
- 21:54SPEAKER_04: Does that answer does that answer your question?
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: It absolutely does.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: So, what I wanna do here, and hey, we fixed it.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: What it was just it was a button.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: So what I want to uh go okay, so you realize something's off.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: So what you know, from your experience, you know, what are some of the things that you can do to get you out of that and and create a plan to to make your life fulfilling, or just to to again find something that keeps you up late and gets you out of bed early that you're excited about.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: It doesn't necessarily need to be work, it can be life, it can be, you know, just other things, family, whatever the case may be.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Tell me a little bit about, you know, in your experience, kind of how you made that switch.
- 22:41SPEAKER_04: In my case, so in my case, it there was there were two things.
- 22:49SPEAKER_04: There was, and I had help.
- 22:52SPEAKER_04: There was a moment where I felt fully alive, you know, sort of from head to toe.
- 23:00SPEAKER_04: I felt fully alive.
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: And I'd been doing acting exercises or whatever and workshops, but there was something about this this personal development, essentially, it was online.
- 23:11SPEAKER_04: And I felt fully alive.
- 23:12SPEAKER_04: And what was important is that there's somebody there that helped me recognize that that was me that did that.
- 23:19SPEAKER_04: Now I didn't know all the hows and what they what they did to get me there.
- 23:23SPEAKER_04: I didn't know all the, you know, but it was like, you know, when you put on a turn on a switch of electricity, the light went on.
- 23:30SPEAKER_04: I don't know how they didn't know how electricity worked yet, but I knew that the light was on and I had and I had flicked the switch somewhere by myself and and with all the details of the tools I didn't know.
- 23:40SPEAKER_04: So somebody had to anchor in me, like, dude, you did that.
- 23:43SPEAKER_04: And doesn't that, isn't that feel great?
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: The thoughts that you're having, the imagination, the looking forward to the next moment, isn't that isn't that better?
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: Doesn't that serve you more?
- 23:52SPEAKER_04: It I needed somebody to tell me that that was a good thing.
- 23:57SPEAKER_04: And if you're alone listening to this, you I would invite you to consider you do need to tell yourself, you know what, this is better than the opposite.
- 24:07SPEAKER_04: Even if it's something small, if you're feeling just remotely good about your life, acknowledge that you had something to do with it, and that's a good thing.
- 24:16SPEAKER_04: And if you can acknowledge that and sort of praise yourself for having even said that to yourself, you know you can do more of it.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: That's why, that's why you need to praise yourself and celebrate.
- 24:24SPEAKER_04: You need to tell yourself that it's a good thing.
- 24:26SPEAKER_04: We're gonna do more of it, we're gonna do more of it.
- 24:28SPEAKER_04: Okay, just that, just that acknowledgement.
- 24:30SPEAKER_04: Now, and then you look at the specifics of what you can do to create more moments like that on purpose, with intention and attention.
- 24:38SPEAKER_04: So even if it's a little thing like looking at a flower or or looking at your dog, or just or just looking at the floor, realizing you're above it, looking at the ground, going, you're above it.
- 24:49SPEAKER_04: Whatever it is, recognize it so that you can do it again, again, and then you do it again.
- 24:55SPEAKER_04: And this is not the big picture, the huge picture yet.
- 24:58SPEAKER_04: It's not the huge picture.
- 25:00SPEAKER_04: What but what starts to happen, and what starts to happen is that you start to look forward to the next day when you're gonna look at the ground and say to yourself, it's good, man.
- 25:08SPEAKER_04: It's good, man.
- 25:09SPEAKER_04: And you're gonna start to go, like, hey man, I'm doing what Marcus said.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: All right, you know, especially for those listening.
- 25:14SPEAKER_04: I know your people of duty and follow through.
- 25:16SPEAKER_04: And and so that's how you start to build it.
- 25:19SPEAKER_04: Then you can start to discover the second thing, which is which is your why.
- 25:24SPEAKER_04: Like, what are you living?
- 25:25SPEAKER_04: What are you living for?
- 25:26SPEAKER_04: What is that thing you're living for?
- 25:28SPEAKER_04: And there's exercise that we can do, there's help that both you and I provide for people to find that, to find that a reason to wake up in the morning.
- 25:37SPEAKER_04: And when you acknowledge the reason that you're waking up in the morning, that that thing that pulls you into the future rather than the thing, rather than the thing you're running away from, because that's always gonna keep you in the past.
- 25:49SPEAKER_04: That's always gonna keep you in the past.
- 25:50SPEAKER_04: There's ways to shift that.
- 25:52SPEAKER_04: So you're looking forward to something.
- 25:54SPEAKER_04: And if you're looking forward to something, if you're living for, if you're living for something that's gonna somehow drive you forward, either with like this grit fire or with with a gentle, with a you know, a gentle sunshiny kind of thing, whatever it is, it's pulling you forward.
- 26:10SPEAKER_04: And if it's pulling you forward, it's the last sentence, forward includes tomorrow.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: So, so if you're looking forward and and tomorrow's the next the thing that's in the future, then you're automatically gonna look forward to tomorrow.
- 26:26SPEAKER_04: And you're not all of a sudden, you're not gonna want to go to bed because you can't wait for tomorrow to come.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: Love it, absolutely love it, man.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: You know, it's it's so funny how I think we've all been there at some point in our life or multiple times in our life, or maybe you're there now, not you specifically.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: I'm talking about listeners, but where we just feel stuck, right?
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: And and I think some of these things that you're talking about will definitely, if you again work the knowledge, just hearing it doesn't do any good.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: It just sits there.
- 26:58SPEAKER_01: It's actually working the steps, working the skills to build that muscle, right?
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: So I absolutely love what you're saying.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: So veterans understand mission as something concrete.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: People are depending on you.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: There's an objective, a success matter.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: How do you help someone accept that their next mission might be quieter and more personal without believing it's somehow less important?
- 27:30SPEAKER_03: I like metaphors.
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: It's like the pebble in the it's like the pebble in the pond.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: Sometimes, you know, I'm blessed to go to a gym and sometimes there's a there's a four-lane little pool, and I go in there and there's no waves on the pool because nobody's gone in it uh yet.
- 27:57SPEAKER_04: And my thoughts are always if if you even put a foot in there or a toe in there, it's gonna ripple the entire length of the pool.
- 28:07SPEAKER_04: You know, of course, smaller splashes are gonna create waves that are that are smaller and then almost imperceptible at the end, but you're making, you know, you're making a difference.
- 28:18SPEAKER_04: And either way, you're making you're making waves.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: Dude, and it starts with you.
- 28:28SPEAKER_04: It starts with it starts with us.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: And I invite those listening and or watching to consider uh whether it's a huge mission or a smaller, like you said, quieter mission.
- 28:41SPEAKER_04: Just quieter, I like that word.
- 28:44SPEAKER_04: It's actually maybe not even smaller.
- 28:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because even if it's smaller waves, like quieter waves, it's still going to travel just as far.
- 28:52SPEAKER_04: It all comes back to then to you feeling that that fulfillment of being on mission or having completed a mission, right?
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: It comes back to how how you feel about it.
- 29:06SPEAKER_04: No matter how much you're serving, no matter how many people you're rescuing or uh defending, ultimately, it's not an ego thing, but the fulfillment comes back into you.
- 29:16SPEAKER_04: And the only way that fulfillment can come back into you is if you start with you because you can't dip your toe in the water, you can't show up for anybody, you can't do anything, you can't show up if you don't show up.
- 29:33SPEAKER_04: So the mission has to be for you first.
- 29:38SPEAKER_04: And so, yeah, I I mean it it yeah.
- 29:42SPEAKER_04: So, so I think accepting that first, and when you accept that first and really embrace that first and learn how to really cherish yourself so that you can protect yourself, that you can defend yourself.
- 29:57SPEAKER_03: Once you recognize that, you'll know that you are worthy in and of yourself, that you are a light.
- 30:08SPEAKER_04: And then every and if you know that you're a light, anything you do is is good.
- 30:15SPEAKER_04: You know, like like it you know a sliver of light eliminates darkness by definition.
- 30:23SPEAKER_04: It's just a matter of how bright do you want to turn it up, but the fulfillment of I am light, I am changing darkness, I am making a difference.
- 30:32SPEAKER_04: Well, that's infinite.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, fantastic, man.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: We're we are out of time.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: I have a question for you.
- 30:39SPEAKER_01: I know you are teaching a college class after this.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: Do you have a couple of more minutes?
- 30:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: I I do want to ask one more question because I think it's super important, and then we'll we'll end out the show.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: What do you say to someone who tells you, Marcus, nothing's wrong with my life?
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: I just don't have anything I'm excited about anymore.
- 31:02SPEAKER_04: I would okay.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: I would say it's a whole coaching thing, but I just let's let's just simplify it as much as possible.
- 31:10SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 31:10SPEAKER_04: Nothing is wrong with my life.
- 31:12SPEAKER_04: I just don't have anything I'm excited about anymore.
- 31:15SPEAKER_04: I would say, I would go, then why are you asking that question?
- 31:21SPEAKER_04: Would you like to feel excited?
- 31:25SPEAKER_04: The fact that the person is asking that question either to themselves or to me tells me they would like to be excited about about their life.
- 31:38SPEAKER_04: And I and you can help them empower themselves to find, create, and sustain excitement in their lives.
- 31:48SPEAKER_04: Period.
- 31:50SPEAKER_01: And here's the thing, right?
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: It's it's we know, yeah, like for me, right?
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: We three companies love what I do.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: This is fulfilling as hell.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: This isn't work for me.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: I love what I do, right?
- 32:02SPEAKER_01: And I also love to play drums and guitar and do all the things, right?
- 32:06SPEAKER_01: So there's those things that when you're like, okay, well, all right, gotta do something.
- 32:13SPEAKER_01: What if we found those things that we know we love that we start doing as much as we can and put those back into our lives to start to start it?
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: Just a thought, just wanted to drop that thought for people to think about the things you that you know you love, that you know you're excited about, but maybe you're just kind of putting off, or you've changed your patterns to get sucked into the suck, if you will.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: Cindy Gould would say that.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so so I just wanted to throw that out there.
