Latest / The Grounded Show / Tom Brady Roast, Drake/Kendrick Final Final Thoughts, NBA - #93
Transcript
- 0:01But you know, you know what's funny. It's like we all roast ourselves,
- 0:05roast each other in the chat, in all chats of all life,
- 0:10and even like Roup Cervo's growing up, and we all think we can take
- 0:14it. And then just watching the John Brady roast and everything that's happening.
- 0:19Ever, like, do you really think you can take a roast? Do
- 0:23you? Anybody? I think so? I mean I feel like bro when
- 0:26you have like like for me, Bro, I'm sure Bro. So you
- 0:30know, bro off rip, I'm getting cooked, you know what I'm saying.
- 0:33So like I feel like I could. But you think there's any there's
- 0:37a line you can't cross? Uh? I mean not not really. I
- 0:44don't think I will say. And Quincy knows a little bit too, Like
- 0:50you know, Danny and them, they would get into some crazy rose battles
- 0:55and they would get like real heated. Like my wife used to always think
- 0:58we was about to get in a fight every time we just sat around talking
- 1:00to stuff. So a roast like that, I think I could take it,
- 1:04to be honest, because I've just heard crazy stuff. We talked about
- 1:07that a little bit last week as well, just how like we would post
- 1:12pictures of our kids or something when we was like in our twenties, and
- 1:15then one of our homies would like, you know, I'll post my daughter
- 1:19or something, and then my homie would post a comment like, Dann,
- 1:22she you a bit just like your daughter. You know what I mean,
- 1:25I'm crazy, Like your whole family's in there talking about you there. Indeed,
- 1:29you have a beautiful family and stuff, and then your boy just pops
- 1:32up like all I see is two pussies like that. Yeah, no,
- 1:37that's wild. So you don't think there's a line you can cross, because
- 1:40now you know, Tom Brady's over here saying that you know, he kind
- 1:44of almost regrets it, that he would never do it again because of the
- 1:47way he affected his kids and his family. Yeah, for that point,
- 1:52go ahead, I'm sorry. No, no, no, Like regarding the
- 1:53jokes that you know, everybody said, like if you want to go a
- 1:57nine for a football season, all you gotta do is just give up your
- 2:01whole entire family, your wife and kids. Yeah, I mean, and
- 2:05from that standpoint, I get with you. It's still funny. But you
- 2:08know, if the kids are like you know what I'm saying, it's still
- 2:10fresh to them. Open wound kind of situation. You know, at the
- 2:14end of the day, you know he's he's going to care about you know
- 2:17that before getting roasted. But I mean, I just feel like if it
- 2:22was me, bro, that's up. Yeah yeah, I mean that check
- 2:28that he got with that he already knew what he was getting into. It
- 2:31was pretty much the status quo. I mean, if you ever seen them
- 2:36old Comedy Central Roads, they used to be savage on those root savage and
- 2:40that was before woke, so that them Roads was crazy, crazy, crazy
- 2:46man, Rest in peace, Greg Giraldo. He was a freaking roast legend.
- 2:50He was frying people like crazy, you know, the classic Jeff Ross,
- 2:55Lisa Lampernelli calling her man all the time. Yeah, that was crazy.
- 3:02But at the end of the day, man, you already know what
- 3:06it is. I will say this, though, it does seem pretty unfair
- 3:09to the family because it seems like this was a one man decision, you
- 3:15know what I mean, and he just decided he was gonna do that.
- 3:17They did it, and everybody was kind of caught off guard. But I
- 3:23didn't see the roast, so I'm gonna defer to y'all. Did he did
- 3:27Somebody say Robert Kraft joke, and then Tom Brady told him like to chilly,
- 3:32how you're not gonna let them do a Robert Kraft joke? And a
- 3:36rose Dog like, why are you even doing a roast if you're gonna get
- 3:38mad about that? Yeah, it was. It was the whole the Robert
- 3:43Kraft allegations of him getting caught in a massage party and uh and it was
- 3:50Jeff ros starting it off rip with the Aaron Hernandi's jokes. He's like,
- 3:53I just came from hell and her Nanda said, what's up? Like Hernani
- 3:58jokes, bro indeed, and then he goes tom Brady walked into that front
- 4:04office and he told Robert Kraft, you made the best decision you ever made
- 4:09your life, and do you want a massage? And that's when Tom Brady
- 4:14walked up to him and he goes, don't say that ship again, bro,
- 4:17only time he got up Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, man,
- 4:23I don't know about that, especially, you know, trying to pull
- 4:26a tough guy move on a freaking comedian. You're a six' five NFL
- 4:30player, you volunteer for a roast like that's corny. But at the end
- 4:35of the day, man, a roast. Everybody should already know what it
- 4:40is when it comes to those you know what you signing up for. And
- 4:43like you said, Joe, if you you don't feel like you're ready for
- 4:46that, like there's there's no there's no limit. Bro. Whoever is going
- 4:49to come up there is going to try to say the most creative, most
- 4:54obscenely obnoxious, terrible thing that they can in a way that they can get
- 4:58a laugh. And that's just what it is. Your your your life is
- 5:01just jokes, you know what I mean? Yeah, and that that kind
- 5:05of evolves into you know, well, what we think at this time is
- 5:11the final chapter of the Kendrick and Rap and Drake rap beef and the lines
- 5:17that were crossed and the directions they went, the things that were said,
- 5:23And that's a constant subject in rap beefs is their lines you can cross.
- 5:31I feel like if and I hate starting stuff off what I feel like because
- 5:35that's you know, all opinion. But still I think that, like at
- 5:41the end of the day, is rap. You know what I'm saying.
- 5:43If you want to keep it on music, keep it on music. But
- 5:46if it's like a genuine like think about it, bro. Fifty Yuah,
- 5:49like bruh. He didn't like that. Man. You know what I'm saying,
- 5:53There is no line like I'm gonna say whatever I want to say and
- 5:57if you want to do something about it, do somebody. So I feel
- 6:00like, you know, that's just kind of part of the game when it
- 6:01comes to rap man Bro speaking the game Game was my favorite guy to that
- 6:08used to go at people because they used to interview him and he used to
- 6:12be like, look, man, I'm six three two twenty. These rappers
- 6:15don't want to see me in real life. He just knew that he was
- 6:18huge, so he just used to say whatever he wanted because he was like,
- 6:24nobody's gonna check me. So he used to stay the craziest stuff on
- 6:28records. Bro. I remember the this is that he did to Joe Budden's
- 6:30and then like they got cool and then Joe Budden had him on a track
- 6:35on his album, and the way the track was was the way the track
- 6:42was set up. It was Joe Budden first verse, game second verse,
- 6:47and Joe Budden third verse, and then the intro game says how you go
- 6:53club but go hood and then go back club on the same record, and
- 6:58that was like their joint that they did after settling the beef. That was
- 7:01like they're big, like yo, everything's cool type thing, and it's like,
- 7:04dog, you still dissing this man on his record on the album and
- 7:10Joe Budden left it on there and dropped the song like that, bro,
- 7:15Yeah, come on man. He took a page out of llll cool J
- 7:19though, because ll cool J had Cannabis on that four three two one,
- 7:26and then he found out Cannabis said that shit about Wan in the sing tattoo
- 7:30as in and then he put the disc record. He put a disc verse
- 7:34on the sing track as Cannabis b The energy was definitely different back then because
- 7:41all Cannabis said was he wanted to borrow the mic on his arm. That's
- 7:46it. Like it was a bar dog, you know, transforming to a
- 7:49time ball. That's what I'm saying. Like Cannabis ripped that that verse in
- 7:56that song and it ends with El cool J going at him and almost I
- 8:03think at that point where rap was Llo cool J did destroy Cannabis in his
- 8:09own song with his feature on it. Uh, it was just it was
- 8:13a little like you said, it was different back then. It was different
- 8:16back then, yo, speaking of lookol J. You've seen what he said
- 8:20about Andre three thousand, I did, Yeah, basically go ahead ahead,
- 8:26Yeah. So basically he just came out and said, like I'm gonna say,
- 8:31I'm gonna say what what what needs to be said basically Andred two thousand
- 8:33needs to know the truth, like basically saying like he said, it's like,
- 8:39come on, be not the flute, you know what I mean.
- 8:43He was like basically saying like, bro, we want to hear you spit.
- 8:46You know what I'm saying. And I mean he ain't lying. We
- 8:50didn't want to hear him spit, you know what I'm saying. But going
- 8:54back to that like old school hip hop thing and the way Ello cool J
- 8:58is about stuff. What do you think, Quincy him saying that? And
- 9:01do you think it's valid for him to say that? I mean, from
- 9:03a from a certain standpoint, yeah, it's valid. But at the same
- 9:07time, one, you're a little late. But like you know what I'm
- 9:11saying, this man is I'll hear about to do a festival in a week
- 9:13for that flu album. He you know what I mean, Like you're a
- 9:16little late. Like it's actually gotten very good. Uh So what I'm looking
- 9:22for like respect from the audience, you know what I mean, Like people
- 9:26enjoyed it. So now you you know you're late to the party to kind
- 9:28of make that statement. You know, that's the only thing I would say.
- 9:31Yeah, it's valid. We all felt that way, but we all
- 9:35enjoyed what he put out too, you know, h every everybody got an
- 9:39opinion about everybody, and it's just it's just funny. You think the lines
- 9:43crossed. And when somebody's talking about so you know what I was thinking about
- 9:48two and everybody's saying, you know why Jake Cole about out and you think
- 9:52about Jake Coles verse and he kept it about music. He kept it about
- 9:56music on the on that seven minute freestyle, and he got word that it's
- 10:01gonna go off that and like if you if you if you don't want to
- 10:05keep talking about music, if you want to make it personal, you need
- 10:09to get out of here. Yo, shout out school boy Q man because
- 10:13the word is schoolboy. Q gave j Cole that heads up and say,
- 10:16hey, you don't want to be in this battle, homie, so I
- 10:20suggest you bowed out, and that boy J Cole did just that, and
- 10:24like that meaning that me and Quincy. You know is that it said what's
- 10:30it called? J Cole right now? The schoolboy Q And it was the
- 10:33music video for that R Kelly, you saved me, You save me?
- 10:37You tell me that boy really saved his ass. I get it. And
- 10:45I wouldn't see a stupid down to that level exactly. I wouldn't see that
- 10:50because I don't think there was no genuine beef with Cole and Kendrick, like,
- 10:54yeah, we're gonna rap to see who's the better rapper. But for
- 10:58the way it went with Cold, I mean for Kendrick and Drake, there
- 11:01was genuine like dislike and hate in those conversations, Like this wasn't just who's
- 11:07the better rapper? This was like I want you dead, like br I
- 11:11hate you as a person, Bro, Like your character is flawed. Will
- 11:13I will say this man. After seeing that back and forth and just kind
- 11:18of taking it all in AO and just thinking about how it's gone the last
- 11:24ten years or so, the last time they collaborated, like it really just
- 11:28feels to me like what happened there was Kendrick did like Drake, and when
- 11:35he got cool with him, he realized Drake wasn't the type of person he
- 11:39wanted to be cool with and he said, nah, I'm good, you
- 11:41know what I mean. Kendrick has been real like known for not moving industry
- 11:48like you know, he's well known to do things his kind of own way.
- 11:52Same as J Cole, you know what I'm saying. J Cole is
- 11:54the same. I've heard plenty of people say, Hey, you know,
- 11:56I was in the studio. J Cole pulled up and it was just him
- 12:00by himself, rented the studio, you know what I'm saying, you know,
- 12:05or him just with the engineer and that's it. You know what I'm
- 12:07saying. He just really likes to make music. He stays out the way.
- 12:11He don't be on that extra stuff, at least nowadays, you know
- 12:15what I mean. And Kendrick is kind of like on the same wave.
- 12:16But then Kendrick is also from Compton, you know what I'm saying. So
- 12:20it's a different kind of energy. It's a different way of growing up and
- 12:24everything. And honestly, man, just hearing all the dishes and everything and
- 12:28the way Kendrick went at him and the way nobody really stood up for Drake
- 12:33or stamped him, like, especially when Kendrick ran down all those down South
- 12:39rappers that he basically said, all these dudes just rocked with you because you
- 12:46was the guy at the time, but they don't stamp you, you know
- 12:48what I mean. The fact that none of them came out and said,
- 12:50nah, he is stamped. That to me was a big tell too,
- 12:54Like, I don't know, some here, like Quincy said, like you
- 13:00could tell that was real hate and a real thing going on behind the scenes.
- 13:03Let's see, for a long time, man Drake been getting the past,
- 13:05Man Drake been getting a crazy past, like just in the culture,
- 13:09you know what I mean, Like from the standpoint of like, and that's
- 13:13why I really liked the whole you know, everything they say about me is
- 13:16true like reverse, Like that whole setup for Euphoi was dope because you know,
- 13:22people kept saying, oh, he's saying stuff we already heard. He's
- 13:24saying stuff we already heard. But that's exactly the point is that it's like,
- 13:28Bro, this man has been coach of Vulting for a long time,
- 13:31and he's been getting the past, you know, and so it's just like,
- 13:35I don't know, man, he really definitely you could tell. There's
- 13:39a lot of reasons why he don't like him, but he definitely pulled the
- 13:43mask off of Drake in this battle for sure. No, And that's that's
- 13:46a great point you made, Lester, because that sis it got you wiped
- 13:52down. Travis got you wiped down, Savage got you wiped down. None
- 13:56of them said a word you are your own. We ain't saying that.
- 14:03You're saying that. That's a big difference in who's supporting If he putting someone
- 14:09in your bars and they're not even retweeting you, they're not even playing that
- 14:13ship on the Instagram stories or agree with you or concurring with you. It's
- 14:18like, hey, those are your thoughts, my dude, Like, we
- 14:20ain't on that, We ain't on that side. And then on top of
- 14:24that, Bro like yeah, don't get me wrong, bro, that not
- 14:26like us is a bop, right, But if people didn't believe what he
- 14:31was saying, it wouldn't resonate, you know what I mean, mat facts
- 14:37and going back to what you were saying about him getting the past as far
- 14:41as Drake goes every time, like Drake to me, bro, and this
- 14:45is the big reason why. On like his persona, his music, like
- 14:48the stuff he talks about, like The big thing about Drake to me is
- 14:52he just ever since he turned into that version of Drake, the version that
- 14:58he is right now, he always just gave me the vibe of the dude
- 15:03that's at the club that got some money, and the hood dudes give him
- 15:09a pass and rock with him because they know he's gonna pay for some bottles
- 15:13and stuff. They don't care that he ain't real, they don't care that
- 15:16he might be a questionable dude or whatever whatever, but you're gonna put him
- 15:20on in some way something exactly. And you always see it, you know
- 15:22what I'm saying. You always see dudes that swear they got some kind of
- 15:28morals or they live by a street code or whatever. They're always gonna let
- 15:31that stuff slide for somebody that's gonna benefit them. You know, somebody that
- 15:35got a bag, somebody that got to connect, whatever the case is,
- 15:39somebody that got a name, whatever it is. They're always gonna leverage that,
- 15:43you know what I mean. Because a street dude, at the end
- 15:46of the day, especially one that's touching a lot of paper, everything he
- 15:50looking at is like a move. You know what I'm saying, What can
- 15:52I do? What can I flip out of this situation. And that's right.
- 15:56If you're a street rapper from Atlanta literally in the streets and Drake hits
- 16:00you up, yo, I like your record, Let me hop on,
- 16:03bro? What what is gonna make you say no to that? Right?
- 16:07You know what I'm saying when you know, I'm trying to get on with
- 16:10this music stuff, and that's that's the ultimate ticket for you to get on.
- 16:14And that is why, that's just that's why he equates fame with respect.
- 16:19And this this, this, this situation really exposed that, you know
- 16:23what I mean, he equates his fame with respect, and it's like,
- 16:27nah, that's not that's not what's happening right now. Yeah. And as
- 16:32much as and I compare, as much as I love Lebron, I realize
- 16:36he can go against anybody in the league today or within his generation of the
- 16:42league. But the second he would ever speak out about Jordan, he know,
- 16:47he don't, he know, he don't. It's a lot of people
- 16:51gonna be like, hey, Chief, pump your brakes. Nobody's gonna be
- 16:56on your side about that. So that's why he's smart about pumping himself up.
- 17:00And that's what Drake pumps himself up. That's what he does. He
- 17:03has to respect the people until he disrespects some of them. A lot of
- 17:06other people respect and that genuinely know he's better at you and what you're gonna
- 17:10disrespect him about rap. It's like Nachi puppy Brakes. We we ain't on
- 17:15your side about that. And that's as a Drake stand I was on that
- 17:21side, like all right, chill, chill, chill, Kendrick, Kendrick,
- 17:26got you. You need a relax, You need a relax. Yeah,
- 17:30it's something that I feel kind of it's kind of random, but it
- 17:33also kind of goes to what we're talking about in it because I thought about
- 17:36that when you were speaking, Joe. Is the fact that Drake broke Michael
- 17:40Jackson's record for the number ones with Tuosy Slide. Yeah, and just strategically
- 17:45knowing this is the next song I'm gonna put out to break the Michael Jackson
- 17:48record. This record is to whack ass exactly. It comes with a dance,
- 17:56Exactly the fact that he put that out as the song that's gonna break
- 18:00Michael Jackson's record knowing he could probably put out, you know, any of
- 18:06twenty songs and it would do the same thing. Like to me, that
- 18:10just speaks to what you're saying, Joe. It's like, this dude is
- 18:12not a rapper in the sense of like a rapper, you know what I'm
- 18:17saying, Like how Kendrick is? How cold is you know how some of
- 18:21these dudes are. Like this dude is an entertainer. He's he's an overall
- 18:23artist. He's a maker, he's a music maker. He has a great
- 18:29year. You know what I'm saying, it's you in a different lane.
- 18:32But his ego and his level of fame and him believing that he's Drake made
- 18:37him think that it was gonna go a different way when he was gonna have
- 18:40everybody on his side with it mm and then that ain't that. They didn't
- 18:44turn out to be the case. And like I said, I won't switch
- 18:47over. And I know Quincy was laughing at me earlier. I'm going I
- 18:51have been paying BBL drizzy. I even got wife be singing that ship in
- 18:56the kitchen BB and like that's a heart one of the hardest beat say I've
- 18:59heard of my life. Those drums and those samples are the favorite, my
- 19:03favorite thing in music and then not like us, me being from the West
- 19:07Coast and that not being from the West Coast, but growing up, you
- 19:11know, part of my life in the West Coast loving West Coast music.
- 19:15That shit is so hard on me. And I haven't played anything from Drake
- 19:18since I finally heard everything, and I played nothing but BBL drizzy and not
- 19:22like us since then. And it is what if you can't deny good music
- 19:26and I will never deny that. Yeah, And it's kind of like the
- 19:29thing we talked about before to tie it in with Rick Ross, you know,
- 19:33since he's part of the whole little beef or whatever. But it's the
- 19:34same thing like when he when they found out he was a COO before and
- 19:38it was like, Bro, I'm not listening to Rick Ross because I think
- 19:44that he's really moving keys, you know what I'm saying. I'm listening to
- 19:47Rick Ross because the music is dope. Same thing with Drake. It's like
- 19:49he could lose his battle, people are still going to bop to whatever summer
- 19:53vibe that he drops because you're not listening to Drake for bars, Bro,
- 19:57you're listening to Drake Viob. Same thing with Gunner Bro. Gunna just dropped
- 20:02another album. When I bring it up in certain people like that, I'd
- 20:06be put like, you know, especially going to the studio and stuff,
- 20:07and be like, oh man, you still listening to that rap? Bro?
- 20:11Do you think I care about what could have possibly happened that nobody knows
- 20:15about in some streets about the It's like, are you are you gonna be
- 20:21happy Slash feel better about yourself if you find out that young Doug did kill
- 20:25a whole bunch of people, you know what I'm saying, Like, if
- 20:26it comes out that they found some evidence and said, dang, this guy
- 20:30killed twenty people, are you gonna be like, yeah, man, that's
- 20:33my guy right there, you know what I mean? Like, it's so
- 20:36dumb, bro, like this whole you know, fake world that people want
- 20:40to live in where they want to pretend like this stuff is real. Like
- 20:42come on, man, like, let's just you know, let's just be
- 20:45adults about this. So let's let's talk about the actor after effects of this
- 20:52rape in the state of hip hop now, because you know, Top Dog
- 20:56came out and said this was for the culture. The culture one everybody's saying
- 21:00and y'all even said and Quincy said, like, after this hip hop gotta
- 21:06be different. Yeah, it changed hip hop and hip hop has to be
- 21:10different after that. How do y'all feel? What is that difference that hip
- 21:12hop should be now after something like this happened. Just that competitiveness needs to
- 21:17come back, you know what I'm saying, Because that's I feel like is
- 21:22what is missing and why anybody can get that pass or get that code sign,
- 21:26is that nobody's going to the studio like I'm trying to be the best.
- 21:30They're like I'm trying to get a bag. There's a different mentality,
- 21:33you know when you go to the studio, like I'm trying to make something
- 21:37that's gonna make bread rather than I'm trying to make the best quality thing I
- 21:41can make. You know what I'm saying, Like you're just attacking two different
- 21:45situations. I think it's just gonna better define the lanes and make it a
- 21:49little easier for people to separate stuff within the hip hop genre, you know
- 21:56what I mean? Like people you know, kind of like what we were
- 21:59just talking about, Drake does one thing, Kendrick does another thing. Like
- 22:02you're gonna see people more being more definitive about like the lane that they're dropping
- 22:07music in and not necessarily feel like they got a crossover as much. You
- 22:11know, kind of what Ja Cole was doing early in his career where he
- 22:14was trying to fit into like the popping music, so he was changing the
- 22:18sound to fit around that, and then he realized, Bro, I'm I'm
- 22:22a spitter. I like to do this kind of vibe. And once he
- 22:25stuck to that kind of vibe, then he really carved out his big fan
- 22:27base because they were like, yeah, bro, this this is what we
- 22:30want to hear, you know what I mean? Yeah, But so I
- 22:33like that as do you feel the after effects? And I kind of attributed
- 22:37to how boxing was and what Ryan Garcia is doing, how people were afraid
- 22:41to go at each other and pretend they didn't like each other. Do you
- 22:47think that opens the lane for people who really don't bang with each other and
- 22:51really want to go at people to be like, all right, I'm just
- 22:53gonna put up a disrecord for somebody I don't like. I feel like,
- 23:00you know, when it comes to like the trendiness of today, Yeah,
- 23:03because if you notice after that, you've seen a lot of just ret I
- 23:07mean, shoot, Shock made a disrecord for Shannon Shark like, nah,
- 23:11yeah, I did not hear about that. That's b that's serious. There's
- 23:15a reason why you ain't hear about it. Bro. Yeah, it's about
- 23:18my friend, it's about but I mean, it's just Yeah, I think
- 23:22four or five months ago, Shack would have been making a disrecord. No,
- 23:26you know what I'm saying, it's not you know. So I will
- 23:29say this though, Shaq used to have really dope podcasts before it became like
- 23:33a TNT sponsored podcast, And that's like to me, it's why because it's
- 23:37just a corporate podcast and I don't really rock with it. But the podcast
- 23:40he had before that, he used to get in little beefs all the time
- 23:42and drop this is on that podcast, so he's remember that. I remember.
- 23:48But definitely it definitely put the battery in his back to do it,
- 23:52like, you know, to somebody like Shannon Sharp, you know, because
- 23:56of the beef and all that this is going around. Yeah, they tell
- 24:00that he felt that energy and went after a bigger dog than he usually did
- 24:03before. Yeah, and that's why I'm afraid, like people are going to
- 24:07do it and it's going to be like stupid. Yeah, it's gonna be
- 24:11like there's no reason you need to be going against this person, like two
- 24:15big wigs, you know, two big people in the stry. Like seeing
- 24:18it all right, I kind of noticed y'all didn't bang with each other.
- 24:22I want to hear what y'all, how y'all really feel about each other.
- 24:25Because everybody says industry's fake. There's a bunch of people don't mess with each
- 24:29other that's still collaborating to do business. Again, I would like to hear
- 24:30that. But then you got someone who don't matter going to someone who don't
- 24:34matter, and it's like no one's listening to that, And I hope it
- 24:37hasn't opened up a major lane for that. I mean, I've seen somebody,
- 24:41you know, I wouldn't say they don't matter because they're a decent local
- 24:45artist, but you know, they're going against They started like kind of going
- 24:48against everybody in the industry, and that thing kind of caught fire, you
- 24:52know, like people gonna do whatever to still go viral right right the way.
- 24:56Yeah, yeah, yeah, So that's part of the territory. But
- 25:00my hope is that it definitely, you know, just kind of makes people
- 25:04a little bit more more like you said, less, they're trying to not
- 25:10be what's on the radio, like like, be good at being you,
- 25:12you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, fact, everybody gotta kind
- 25:18of just tap into what they're good at. And and actually that even kind
- 25:22of was like a lesson of it too. Like for Drake even it's like,
- 25:26bro, like just stick to what you're good at. Don't get sucked
- 25:29into these little things. They lose little situations. Every battle that he's gotten
- 25:32into, even if he like even the meat milone where he came out cleaner
- 25:34on the other side, like it was still dumb on him to get into
- 25:37it. It's like, bro, what are you gonna gain? Broh,
- 25:40because now we know you're a ghost writer. You got you know, now
- 25:41we know you got a ghostwriter. You know, we didn't know that before
- 25:44that. So even if you won the battle, you still you know what
- 25:47I'm saying, like, did you really do to the armor? Yeah?
- 25:48Exactly. Yeah. It is funny though, seeing all these old clips of
- 25:52Drake coming out of him saying like, you know, I'm just gonna stay
- 25:56authentic. You know, you don't gotta get tattoos, you don't gotta you
- 26:00know, be all mean mugging and doing all this da da dah, like
- 26:03it's just crazy to see how the industry really changed them. But it's like
- 26:08it's something that we talked about a long time ago when we were talking about
- 26:11Bad Bunny. It's like, whenever you're that level of an artist where you
- 26:15got the machine behind you like that, it's a different thing, bro,
- 26:18Like you are going to drop us on like Tuesday Slide, you know what
- 26:22I mean? You are going to be on the type of stuff that he's
- 26:23on, you know who. And obviously y'all know I'm not a Drake fan
- 26:29like that, so I'm not trying to say this even to defend him or
- 26:32anything. But who knows if all these relationships that he had that people are
- 26:34saying it's inappropriate, you know, with minors whatever this is? Now,
- 26:38what if that was just stuff the label wanted him to do just to cross
- 26:41over into the younger crowds. You know what I'm saying. The way these
- 26:45people be moving, bro, is they got these crazy, tried and true
- 26:49methods and things that they be doing and just understanding how to manipulate people.
- 26:56And it be working, man, it be working. And what I feel
- 27:00hurts me, and I won't say hurts the industry, but hurts fans like
- 27:03me is how much I love the collapse of the people he's beefing with,
- 27:08like drinking Rods collabs, drinking Future collabs, drinking Metro collabs, drinking Weekend
- 27:17collabse Like are we ever gonna hear those again? And to me, it's
- 27:22like, damn, those are some of my favorite records but also rude.
- 27:26But also my thing is this bro Like people keep saying, like, you
- 27:30know, being Drake's going against all these people? What is it about Drake
- 27:34that's making all these people want to go at him? Like you know what
- 27:37I'm saying, Like, yeah, like even if you top dog whatever you
- 27:41want to be considered top dog and you the most successful rapper and blah blah
- 27:44blah blah blah, Like I don't see nobody going to Kendrick like that.
- 27:48And Kendrick the one that got all the accohotes, yo. And something interesting
- 27:52I just thought about right now just hearing y'all speaking and off of what you
- 27:56sequence is like I've also will notice that like in the last two or three
- 28:03albums or so, he's been doing a lot of features with new artists.
- 28:07Yeah, like new artists, one viral artists. You know what I mean,
- 28:14like people that that you know typically are not going to be on that
- 28:18kind of on an album with Drake or something like that. He's just been,
- 28:22you know, making music with a lot of viral newcomers, people that
- 28:26got one or two songs. You know, he been you know, getting
- 28:29on somebody else's vibe and making it sound like that. Like it makes me
- 28:33kind of feel like this kind of freeze out from the industry people or like
- 28:37you know, a lot of the big people in rap has been going on
- 28:41for a little bit, you know what I mean, You've been just thinking
- 28:44about the point of view of like a lot of people have been saying,
- 28:45he's kind of been in his own world in his new mansion, you know
- 28:48what I mean. He kind of got everything he needs there. He got
- 28:51his own team, he got all his people. So it's almost like he's
- 28:55just been setting himself up for this because he kind of already been feeling it,
- 29:00you know what I mean. And you know what I feel he's doing
- 29:03by that that is a negative effect on him. Is he saying the precedence
- 29:07for these veteran artists to make them feel like Yo, if you want to
- 29:11keep up with me, you gotta do something with these young artists, and
- 29:15he's probably putting these young artists here, don't do nothing with these dudes,
- 29:18And so he's getting the leg up by first doing something with these new rookie
- 29:25artists and influence them to not fuck with anybody else but him because he's the
- 29:29first one that gave him a chance. He's monopolizing the game like that,
- 29:33and that's also something that you know, a probably lot of people don't appreciate.
- 29:37Yeah, he's honestly, man, It's just kind of like where you
- 29:44said, Quincy, he's been getting that pass. I think Kendrick is just
- 29:47the first one to really like call it out and be the one brave enough
- 29:51to say it. Because Drake's run has been so powerful and he's been so
- 29:56like outspoken and such a big figure and rap and like everybody that went against
- 30:03him always lost and he just had everything in the chokehold. So I think
- 30:07finally somebody saying, nah, bro, you ain't all that, and everybody
- 30:11kind of felt like they were able to poke their chest out and say,
- 30:14you know what, he ain't all that. You're right, you know what
- 30:15I'm saying. But you know, that's how it goes to whenever they start
- 30:18seeing you, you fall. You know what I'm saying, He's Drake is
- 30:22at that tail end of the career. He's already an older guy. People
- 30:25are already questioning, you know why he's even portraying himself the way he portrays
- 30:30himself, being a grown, grown, grown man, you know what I'm
- 30:33saying. So I think it's just the end, at the end of the
- 30:36run, bro, everybody want to see you fall, and he's just another
- 30:40person that that happens to you. You know. Yeah, I'm gonna say
- 30:42one last thing. One thing that stuck out the most is everyone who went
- 30:48against him has been in the game for a long time. They didn't use
- 30:52nobody who's fresh, nobody who's new. It was everybody who's been in the
- 30:56game for a long time. Is everybody credibility, So it's not like who
- 31:00is this guy going again straight joining this group? You know what I'm saying,
- 31:03Like, everybody who who's been has been the game, who's done big
- 31:07things in the games, has set marking it. And I was like,
- 31:11all right, so this it means something. This whole you know, revolution
- 31:17against it meant something to hip hop and rap and we'll see how like I
- 31:21said, the collaborations and the support he gets, I think that's going to
- 31:26change a lot from moving forward. Yeah, hey, man, as we
- 31:29wrap up, I just gotta bring this up. It wouldn't be right if
- 31:33I didn't bring it up. Man, I know, I know, we
- 31:37just you know, still gotta win one more game. But the way the
- 31:41Wolves have folded in this series, dogs bro carta, Who's we? Who's
- 31:47we? We were? What did I say about? He said we gotta
- 31:52game? Oh, I don't know. I must have misspoke. But Minnesota
- 31:59went to lose three in a row, Like what what are y'all doing?
- 32:01Man? Is crazy? I don't know if he was a Denver fan.
- 32:06No, no, I'm not a fan of the team. I like Jokic
- 32:09because I like the way he plays and he's just man. He say he
- 32:13said we still got to win one more game, and I was like,
- 32:15damn, I didn't know. Oh yea, yeah, I definitely misspoke.
- 32:17I'm not a Denver fan like that. The first man throwing through. But
- 32:22yeah, the Denver still got to win one more game. But it's looking
- 32:25like they figured this out, figured it out. You know, Minnesota has
- 32:30been folding like crazy. My guy Nas Reed has still been hooping. He's
- 32:34still been doing what he's been doing. But the rest man go Bear and
- 32:37Cat specifically, Man, they just man cooked. You saw what happened with
- 32:43Aaron Gordon. What happened with Aaron Gordon? So game two, Aaron Gordon
- 32:47does not show up to the team dinner at night, and since then they
- 32:52won three in a row. Say they officially banned them from showing up to
- 32:58because they think that was that's crazy. I didn't know that. That's funny.
- 33:06Nah. I definitely got to hope that it'll go to seven games,
- 33:07and I'm still like just just for ships and giggles. I want the Wolves
- 33:14to win. I would like to see them advance and I would like to
- 33:16see them possibly in the finals. That would be dope to see. But
- 33:20you know, Denver showing why they're the champions. I wasn't. I was
- 33:23never jumping out the window like Steven A. Smith and them talking about they
- 33:27about to get swept, Like, bro, it's always when you're at home.
- 33:30It's not until you lose at home exactly, Bro, Like, come
- 33:34on, man, they I mean the Wolves took the first two games in
- 33:38Denver, though, you know what I mean. So they did get them
- 33:42at home, but it's just until they go down three to zero, you
- 33:45can't say they're gonna get swept. Bro, Like and the champions from last
- 33:49year, the team is the team is still their team. You know what
- 33:52I'm saying. They still got a loaded team, so you He apologized on
- 33:55first take today. Matter of fact, he was like, man, I
- 33:58was tripping you know what I'm saying. Yeah, we knew you were stripping
- 34:00you. He been acting like a caricature man. Mm hmm, yeah,
- 34:05no, Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's not till you lose at
- 34:06home that everybody doubts you. Andy to wrap my pointing up them boys boys
- 34:15averaging forty points aside from the last game before. Hey, them boys are
- 34:20hooping, like I said, Haller Burr and Tim Burton, Reggie Miller,
- 34:23Miller, Lite Nixon six. Boy, Hey they're looking good man. I'm
- 34:30just sad that they don't got Randall. Would have been nice to see them
- 34:31at full man. I wish they didn't give them that soldier surgery. They
- 34:35should have waited. I would have I would have liked to see I would
- 34:37have felt I felt like they would have beat Boston. Bro I just always
- 34:40thought Boston was soft. I always thought they were sweetish pie. I always
- 34:45thought there was like the upgraded version of the Hawks. You know what I'm
- 34:47saying. The Hawks used to always take the East and always fold. And
- 34:52I just feel like I don't know, Bro, I just don't. Jason
- 34:54Tatum just doesn't convince me. Bro. He's a great, great player,
- 34:58and it sucks when you're the that kind of player because he's at this level
- 35:01where like he has to he has to play up, you know what I'm
- 35:06saying, Like he can't play down, Like he's too good to play down.
- 35:09Ben should have won, you've been should have won, or you've been
- 35:12should have struck some fear in somebody dog nobody is scared of Ben. Should
- 35:15have made it to the finals for a long time now. You Celtics should
- 35:20have been in the finals with that squad for a long time now. Now
- 35:23too late. Now, don't let the Knicks get to the use accomplence finals.
- 35:27I'll just say that. Yeah, man, the Knicks are a nice
- 35:30destination. Now they're looking good. People are gonna go there. It's New
- 35:34York. They see how that garden looking in the playoffs, Bro, Like
- 35:37you said, Joe. I think Boston. That's it. They had their
- 35:40chance, they had their window. The window is closed. My friends,
- 35:45Tom rebuilt facts facts been over here swagging the back. Did he hit twelve
- 35:54or what? Yeah? Yeah he hit. I need Peyton Pritchet to give
- 35:58me four points. That guy Quincy remind me and me I haven't won to
- 36:01been in three weeks cold Turkey right now, hey man, good luck.
- 36:10But yeah, man, it's been a hectic couple of weeks. Man,
- 36:15But the summer summer vibes is on the way, even just the energy,
- 36:21you know, just getting stuff. I think I feel like after Memorial Days,
- 36:24things are gonna start picking up overall, like just you know, with
- 36:28the stuff we got planned, stuff that's on the way. I just know
- 36:31it's episode ninety three. We got seven episodes left to the hundred mark.
- 36:37The boys gonna get ready. Man, that one's gonna be special. Dog
- 36:40gotta be something, yes, sir, But hey man, thank y'all for
- 36:45rocking with us. And stay after act after acts at ac put not not
- 38:32not not put not not at not be not act Oh
