- 0:30SPEAKER_15: Hey!
- 0:31SPEAKER_22: Hello.
- 0:33SPEAKER_24: Welcome to the Abron and Doug Podcast.
- 0:35SPEAKER_24: I'm O'Brien.
- 0:36SPEAKER_24: Our Doug.
- 0:37SPEAKER_24: That's Myra.
- 0:37SPEAKER_24: Hi, Myra.
- 0:38SPEAKER_24: Hi, Myra.
- 0:39SPEAKER_24: It is uh episode 281.
- 0:43SPEAKER_24: Still baffles me, but we're at 281.
- 0:46SPEAKER_25: It's like it's like.
- 0:47SPEAKER_25: Did we?
- 0:48SPEAKER_25: It's like it's it's like, well, technically, if you think about it, we're at 282.
- 0:54SPEAKER_25: Because we did that one and then took like a seven-year sabbatical.
- 1:00SPEAKER_24: Yes.
- 1:01SPEAKER_24: So what so I think I've asked this question before, but I don't remember what the answer was.
- 1:06SPEAKER_24: So for a long time we were doing season one, episode eight.
- 1:10SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 1:11SPEAKER_24: You know.
- 1:12SPEAKER_24: Did we go back and include all those as like starting at one?
- 1:16SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 1:16SPEAKER_24: We did.
- 1:16SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 1:17SPEAKER_24: So we've done 281.
- 1:19SPEAKER_24: Well, this is the 281st episode.
- 1:21SPEAKER_24: 81st episode.
- 1:22SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 1:23SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 1:24SPEAKER_24: Uh so technically, we've done 280 episodes since 2020.
- 1:32SPEAKER_25: Yes.
- 1:33SPEAKER_24: In the past six years.
- 1:34SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 1:34SPEAKER_25: That's not bad.
- 1:35SPEAKER_25: Yeah, no, that's pretty good.
- 1:36SPEAKER_25: Like, what'd we say?
- 1:37SPEAKER_25: We do like 40, 45 times.
- 1:42SPEAKER_25: Something like that.
- 1:43SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 1:43SPEAKER_24: So we take weeks off here and there.
- 1:45SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 1:46SPEAKER_24: Uh, and I do have to say, I don't foresee it, but it's a possibility because um I mean it's kind of a sad thing.
- 1:58SPEAKER_24: It's it's it's a happy thing, but a sad thing.
- 2:01SPEAKER_24: Um there may be some times in the near future where we may take a week off sporadically.
- 2:12SPEAKER_24: And the only reason I say that is because we don't know what the future holds for the fun dungeon.
- 2:19SPEAKER_24: The fun dungeon.
- 2:20SPEAKER_24: So what is happening is well, let me let me describe that.
- 2:26SPEAKER_24: Yeah, you're right, that's not as good.
- 2:27SPEAKER_24: It's not I mean it's okay.
- 2:28SPEAKER_24: It's good.
- 2:28SPEAKER_24: It's good.
- 2:29SPEAKER_24: It's not as good.
- 2:29SPEAKER_24: He's talking about the um Starburst.
- 2:32SPEAKER_24: Is it Starburst and a Lifesaver?
- 2:34SPEAKER_24: Lifesaver, sparkling ice, uh wild cherry.
- 2:36SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 2:37SPEAKER_25: I mean it's good, but it's not as good as the Starburst.
- 2:39SPEAKER_24: Starburst cherry.
- 2:40SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 2:40SPEAKER_24: So um so this let me describe the fund engine for those of you that don't know what we're talking about.
- 2:46SPEAKER_24: It's a basement.
- 2:47SPEAKER_24: It is a room in the basement.
- 2:49SPEAKER_24: Um I have computer screens, I have speakers, I have stereo system, I have my wall of tunes, tons of CDs.
- 2:58SPEAKER_25: Um And I got a pool table, too.
- 3:02SPEAKER_24: Amplifiers, guitars, um other musical gear.
- 3:07SPEAKER_24: Um seat that Doug loves.
- 3:10SPEAKER_24: I do.
- 3:11SPEAKER_24: Um rock and roll lights, posters of B.B.
- 3:15SPEAKER_24: King, Van Halen, Def Leppard.
- 3:17SPEAKER_24: I mean, it's like it's like a teenage bedroom without the bed, really.
- 3:20SPEAKER_24: Correct.
- 3:21SPEAKER_24: You know?
- 3:22SPEAKER_24: Um so uh this space down here, this is um I don't know how many years ago it was.
- 3:29SPEAKER_24: Over 10 uh that we added this space onto our house.
- 3:34SPEAKER_25: Yeah, it's been quite a while.
- 3:35SPEAKER_24: Yeah, it's because we have uh we had a th a three-bedroom ranch.
- 3:39SPEAKER_24: Still have I still live here.
- 3:40SPEAKER_24: Three-bedroom ranch, and it was s only so long, right?
- 3:45SPEAKER_24: And then we added fourteen feet.
- 3:47SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 3:48SPEAKER_24: And that fourteen feet included an entryway and a bigger bathroom.
- 3:54SPEAKER_24: And this section.
- 3:56SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 3:56SPEAKER_24: So this is the basement of that new section.
- 3:58SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 4:00SPEAKER_24: My wife does a lot of work um she does shirts and things and more than shirts.
- 4:07SPEAKER_24: I mean she's a graphic designer, but she she's been lately she's been doing a lot of shirt pressing.
- 4:13SPEAKER_24: She's got I don't know, four or five presses, different kinds of presses.
- 4:17SPEAKER_24: And they're all in the entryway.
- 4:19SPEAKER_24: And you know, I mean, you've been coming here for I don't know how long.
- 4:22SPEAKER_24: You can't really walk in our entryway because it's full of boxes of shirts and stuff that all basically that all her work.
- 4:31SPEAKER_24: And we've been trying to find a solution um to give her some space.
- 4:38SPEAKER_24: And I have made the decision.
- 4:39SPEAKER_24: She didn't this is nothing has nothing to do with my wife.
- 4:42SPEAKER_24: I've made the decision.
- 4:44SPEAKER_24: This is completely mine.
- 4:46SPEAKER_24: Probably should have consulted with you.
- 4:48SPEAKER_25: Mine's not my house.
- 4:49SPEAKER_25: Oh, I know, but it's not like I pay rent or anything.
- 4:52SPEAKER_24: I know.
- 4:52SPEAKER_25: You know, I've just been like, hey, hey, dog, why do you think I I don't know.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: It's it's your house, man.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: Well, I don't live here.
- 4:59SPEAKER_24: I've made the decision that you know, I I come down here once in a blue moon to make music.
- 5:09SPEAKER_24: I haven't done anything in a long time.
- 5:12SPEAKER_24: I want to, but I haven't.
- 5:14SPEAKER_24: Um and the only reason the only way the only time really that I come down here and do anything is with you.
- 5:21SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 5:22SPEAKER_24: Come down and do the podcast.
- 5:24SPEAKER_24: And I establish that we can do the podcast anywhere.
- 5:27SPEAKER_25: That is great.
- 5:28SPEAKER_24: Uh it won't be the same.
- 5:30SPEAKER_24: Um my plan is my wife's birthday is Saturday, the 14th.
- 5:37SPEAKER_24: And they're going away uh to a basketball tournament.
- 5:42SPEAKER_24: Surprise, surprise.
- 5:43SPEAKER_24: Uh Friday Friday night.
- 5:46SPEAKER_24: And they'll be gone all through Sunday.
- 5:49SPEAKER_24: Now, I don't think I will get any th a lot done, but I'm going to start on the process of tearing this uh fun dungeon apart and putting all this stuff over in the old basement section and clearing this out so that she can bring all her stuff down here and use this as her workspace.
- 6:15SPEAKER_24: It only makes sense to me.
- 6:17SPEAKER_24: Because I mean she keeps getting bigger and bigger with the you know her business.
- 6:21SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 6:21SPEAKER_24: And we can't Which is what you want with a business.
- 6:23SPEAKER_24: It is.
- 6:24SPEAKER_24: And we can't afford right now, we can't afford to build a building or find a building and pay rent, you know, and things like that.
- 6:31SPEAKER_24: So and this is not a very big space, but it's bigger than it's well, it's about as big as the entryway, or maybe bigger than the entryway.
- 6:38SPEAKER_24: That's bigger than the entryway.
- 6:39SPEAKER_24: You know?
- 6:39SPEAKER_24: I want to take out these cabinets, I think.
- 6:40SPEAKER_24: Give them even more room.
- 6:42SPEAKER_25: Yeah, absolutely.
- 6:43SPEAKER_25: Um and take those stairs out and put a fireman pole in.
- 6:50SPEAKER_25: That'd be cool.
- 6:51SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 6:52SPEAKER_24: She'd stay in shape too, climbing up that fireman pole.
- 6:55SPEAKER_25: Well, we we'd we'd nah that's Can we get like a uh like a pulley system?
- 7:00SPEAKER_25: Like a like a like something, and then she'd on it, and then she could just pull herself up.
- 7:05SPEAKER_25: We'd get a dumbwaiter.
- 7:06SPEAKER_24: It's like let's do it.
- 7:12SPEAKER_25: Your house has an elevator in it?
- 7:14SPEAKER_25: That's sort of eh, kinda.
- 7:17SPEAKER_25: Circa 1775.
- 7:20SPEAKER_25: Right.
- 7:21SPEAKER_24: So, I mean, that's the plan.
- 7:23SPEAKER_24: And it's gonna take a while to do, and that's why I say I don't know if we'll take a week off here and there, because I think what's gonna what's gonna happen, this is this is what I think is gonna happen.
- 7:33SPEAKER_24: I'm gonna start the process.
- 7:35SPEAKER_24: I'm gonna clean over there first.
- 7:37SPEAKER_24: Obviously, make some space over there to put things.
- 7:41SPEAKER_24: Um and so next week you'll come in, we'll probably still be here.
- 7:46SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 7:47SPEAKER_24: I'm just I'm just thinking that we probably will still be here.
- 7:49SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 7:50SPEAKER_24: Uh there might be some stuff missing.
- 7:52SPEAKER_24: Sure.
- 7:53SPEAKER_25: But we'll probably I mean Rome wasn't built in a day.
- 7:55SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 7:55SPEAKER_24: So and even over the next few weeks, we probably still will be will be it it won't be the same fund engine, but we'll probably still be here because I d if I'm doing it myself.
- 8:04SPEAKER_25: It'd be like the photograph from uh Back to the Future of Marty's brothers and brother and sister and him.
- 8:10SPEAKER_25: Right keeps disappearing.
- 8:12SPEAKER_25: Right.
- 8:12SPEAKER_25: That's what it was that's what it's gonna be like.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, it's just gonna be like, hey, we gotta hurry up and get my mom to kiss my dad.
- 8:22SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 8:24SPEAKER_24: Exactly.
- 8:24SPEAKER_25: One point twenty-one gigawatts!
- 8:26SPEAKER_24: Exactly what I was thinking.
- 8:27SPEAKER_24: Yeah, I know you were.
- 8:28SPEAKER_24: Um I had to bring the weirdness to this.
- 8:32SPEAKER_24: So uh I again I'm gonna start the process this weekend, and uh I'm doing it myself, so it it will take a while.
- 8:41SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 8:42SPEAKER_24: Um there's a uh you saw the the tool bench in there that has this big tank of water.
- 8:48SPEAKER_25: Yeah, I noticed it.
- 8:49SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 8:49SPEAKER_24: Uh we have two we have three big tanks um of water uh that were you know just in case of emergency.
- 8:58SPEAKER_25: You know what we should do is put one of those things in where you throw the thing and it hits it and a person falls into it.
- 9:03SPEAKER_25: I'll sit on there and every time I say something stupid, you you hit a button.
- 9:08SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 9:08SPEAKER_25: I fall into the tank of water.
- 9:10SPEAKER_24: Well, here's the thing is I have to get that water off the toolbench, and I can't move it.
- 9:15SPEAKER_24: It's like 400 pounds.
- 9:16SPEAKER_25: Well, I was about to say that's a 55-gallon drum.
- 9:18SPEAKER_24: I'm gonna have to like siphon it or something.
- 9:20SPEAKER_24: Uh I don't know what I'm gonna I don't know how I'm gonna do it.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: You better be thirsty.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 9:26SPEAKER_24: So anyway, that's the plan.
- 9:28SPEAKER_24: And uh at least it's the beginning of a plan.
- 9:30SPEAKER_24: We'll uh we'll see where it ends up.
- 9:32SPEAKER_24: But I also have I I've noticed as I'm I'm she'll she'll come down and she'll see me in the basement, and I'm just standing there.
- 9:39SPEAKER_24: And I'm like just trying to think of what I'm gonna do and where I'm gonna put everything.
- 9:43SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 9:43SPEAKER_24: There's so much stuff in here that I can toss.
- 9:46SPEAKER_24: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 9:47SPEAKER_24: You know, I mean I'm hanging on to stuff for for no reason whatsoever.
- 9:50SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 9:50SPEAKER_24: Same thing for the other side.
- 9:52SPEAKER_24: Yeah in the basement.
- 9:52SPEAKER_24: We I mean there we've been living here 25 years.
- 9:55SPEAKER_25: Yeah, I know it's crazy.
- 9:56SPEAKER_24: And uh there's stuff in this basement that we haven't touched in 25 years.
- 10:02SPEAKER_24: So I don't think we need it anymore.
- 10:05SPEAKER_25: Yeah, what's the what's the rule if you haven't touched it in like a year or something like that?
- 10:08SPEAKER_24: I don't know, something like that.
- 10:10SPEAKER_25: I think 25 is a is a good metric.
- 10:12SPEAKER_25: I think it is.
- 10:12SPEAKER_25: You know, I think, well, you know what?
- 10:14SPEAKER_25: I I bought this, you know, in preparation of Y2K.
- 10:18SPEAKER_25: Right.
- 10:19SPEAKER_25: Uh I think we're past that danger.
- 10:21SPEAKER_25: Uh yeah, I think we can get rid of this.
- 10:24SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 10:24SPEAKER_25: Yeah, that's a good yeah.
- 10:25SPEAKER_25: So sign picture of Al Gore.
- 10:28SPEAKER_25: What?
- 10:30SPEAKER_25: How does that get rid of it?
- 10:31SPEAKER_24: Hold on a second.
- 10:32SPEAKER_24: I don't have a signed picture of Al Gore.
- 10:37SPEAKER_24: So anyway, that's the plan.
- 10:39SPEAKER_24: Um, so um if you notice us um taking a week off here and there or sounding really depressed.
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: This isn't the not so fun dungeon.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: This is this is an actual basement.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: Welcome to the basement.
- 10:55SPEAKER_24: Yeah, this this this fun dungeon right now does not look like a basement.
- 10:58SPEAKER_24: Or fun dungeon blows.
- 10:59SPEAKER_24: It looks like a like a teenage boy's bedroom.
- 11:02SPEAKER_24: But uh there will be come a time where we will be doing it from the other side.
- 11:06SPEAKER_24: Uh and uh it will be an actual basement.
- 11:10SPEAKER_24: But I do plan ha plan on building a room over there.
- 11:14SPEAKER_24: Eventually.
- 11:14SPEAKER_24: So we'll see.
- 11:16SPEAKER_25: Well, I've fin to it.
- 11:17SPEAKER_24: Oh, yeah, I know, and he will help me.
- 11:18SPEAKER_24: Oh, I know he will.
- 11:19SPEAKER_24: He will help me.
- 11:20SPEAKER_24: And I told him I said, I want it soundproof.
- 11:23SPEAKER_24: He's like, How am I gonna do that?
- 11:24SPEAKER_24: I said, You know how you make it gardens.
- 11:27SPEAKER_24: Well, you know how you make the wall this thick, right?
- 11:30SPEAKER_24: I want it this thick.
- 11:30SPEAKER_24: Yeah, just double it.
- 11:31SPEAKER_24: Fill it with like insulation and all kinds of stuff.
- 11:35SPEAKER_24: So put carpeting on the walls.
- 11:38SPEAKER_24: Shag carpeting.
- 11:39SPEAKER_24: Shag carpeting, baby.
- 11:41SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 11:42SPEAKER_06: Brown chicken brown.
- 11:44SPEAKER_24: So anyway, that's that's what's happening uh as far as the podcast goes.
- 11:50SPEAKER_24: Um some interesting things happening uh in the realm of oh, did you have anything?
- 11:56SPEAKER_24: I'm sorry.
- 11:56SPEAKER_24: Did you want to I got nothing?
- 11:58SPEAKER_24: Okay, good, because I'm moving on.
- 11:59SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 12:00SPEAKER_24: Uh in the realm on in the realm of rock and roll.
- 12:03SPEAKER_24: Um so you haven't heard this yet.
- 12:07SPEAKER_24: Uh this is FIFA World Cup.
- 12:10SPEAKER_24: Um, they did a remix of Van Halen's jump.
- 12:13SPEAKER_24: Why does Steve Vai look like Ozzy?
- 12:16SPEAKER_24: It's the sunglasses, I think.
- 12:18SPEAKER_24: Uh Steve Vai, it says, Here's Steve Vai shred on all-star remix of Van Halen's jump for FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem.
- 12:30SPEAKER_24: Uh it says it's received some star-studded star-studded genre bending reinvention as the Coca-Cola Anthem for FIFA World Cup, courtesy of Colombian pop star Jay Balvin and singer-songwriter Amber Mark, with additional performances from guitar Steve Vai and Blink 182 drummer Travis Parker.
- 12:51SPEAKER_25: Oh.
- 12:51SPEAKER_25: Okay.
- 12:52SPEAKER_24: So uh you know, I'm gonna tell you right now, it doesn't sound like Van Halen.
- 13:00SPEAKER_24: I mean, but it doesn't even some of it doesn't really sound like a jump.
- 13:05SPEAKER_24: Uh it's a pop song.
- 13:08SPEAKER_24: And then they say Steve Vice shreds on this song.
- 13:11SPEAKER_24: He doesn't shred on this song.
- 13:12SPEAKER_24: All right.
- 13:13SPEAKER_24: Um he sounds great, uh but and I mean they they did a great job, but it's it's not what you're expecting.
- 13:22SPEAKER_24: Uh so I'll just play it.
- 13:24SPEAKER_24: And we may have to.
- 13:26SPEAKER_24: This is on YouTube, so hopefully this works.
- 14:43SPEAKER_24: What do you hear is that guitar in the background?
- 14:45SPEAKER_24: Yeah, that's that's pretty much all he does.
- 14:50SPEAKER_22: Yeah, not just running.
- 14:57SPEAKER_22: I can do that.
- 15:59SPEAKER_23: That's about the extent of it.
- 16:01SPEAKER_25: I mean, this is light work for Steve Vaughn, pretty much.
- 16:04SPEAKER_23: Yeah.
- 16:06SPEAKER_25: Actually, for Travis Barker too.
- 16:08SPEAKER_23: I mean nothing you wouldn't know.
- 16:11SPEAKER_23: You wouldn't know that this is Travis Barker.
- 16:13SPEAKER_25: I would have torn her as a drum machine.
- 16:20SPEAKER_24: Yeah, so anyway, I saw that and I heard that, and I was just like, what is this?
- 16:24SPEAKER_24: Yeah, I don't know.
- 16:25SPEAKER_24: I don't like it.
- 16:26SPEAKER_24: I don't either.
- 16:27SPEAKER_24: I don't either.
- 16:29SPEAKER_24: But you what do we know?
- 16:30SPEAKER_24: We come from a generation where there was actual talent.
- 16:33SPEAKER_24: Well, we should be we are we remember the original.
- 16:36SPEAKER_24: I don't I I shouldn't be like that.
- 16:37SPEAKER_24: I don't want to be like that, because they're obviously talented.
- 16:39SPEAKER_25: Yeah, I'm not taking away the talent.
- 16:41SPEAKER_25: I just don't like what they've done to it.
- 16:43SPEAKER_24: Yeah, I don't either.
- 16:44SPEAKER_24: So that's something that didn't need to be.
- 16:46SPEAKER_25: I mean, that's a song, that's a sancchang song.
- 16:48SPEAKER_25: I mean, that's that's like that's like gospel.
- 16:51SPEAKER_25: I agree, you know?
- 16:52SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 16:53SPEAKER_24: Um so speaking of Van Halen, I'm gonna give this one away.
- 16:58SPEAKER_24: All right.
- 16:58SPEAKER_24: Uh Ultimate Classic Rock has a list of uh who are the big four.
- 17:02SPEAKER_24: This is their their thing.
- 17:03SPEAKER_24: You know, we have the uh big four of Thrash, which is Metallica, um hold on.
- 17:12SPEAKER_24: Anthrax.
- 17:13SPEAKER_24: Um the uh the Satan ones.
- 17:19SPEAKER_24: Slayer.
- 17:20SPEAKER_23: Slayer, thank you.
- 17:21SPEAKER_24: Slayer! And uh uh is it Megadeth.
- 17:25SPEAKER_24: That's what I thought.
- 17:26SPEAKER_24: I was gonna say Megadeth, but I f I th I thought they were excluded for some reason.
- 17:29SPEAKER_24: Yeah, but those are the big four of Thrash.
- 17:32SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 17:32SPEAKER_24: And we did the big four of something else, I can't remember what it was.
- 17:35SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 17:35SPEAKER_24: Well, this is kind of an ultimate classic rock thing.
- 17:37SPEAKER_24: So who are the big four of Sunset Strip bands?
- 17:40SPEAKER_24: Obviously, if you don't know, the Sunset Strip um is in Hollywood, California.
- 17:46SPEAKER_24: Or Los Angeles, California.
- 17:47SPEAKER_25: Yeah, I'm not I'm not sure it's in Hollywood.
- 17:49SPEAKER_24: Well, it's it isn't doesn't it's it's Hollywood adjacent to Hollywood.
- 17:52SPEAKER_24: Yeah, that's what I meant.
- 17:53SPEAKER_24: So so you doesn't it run through Hollywood?
- 17:56SPEAKER_24: Probably.
- 17:56SPEAKER_25: I I don't know.
- 17:57SPEAKER_25: I I've only driven through Hollywood.
- 17:59SPEAKER_25: But most of the LA once most of the clubs are in LA, right?
- 18:02SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 18:02SPEAKER_24: The the ones that we're talking about.
- 18:04SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 18:04SPEAKER_24: So all these um rock clubs in the 80s uh were lined up.
- 18:10SPEAKER_24: Uh and they call it it was the Sunset Strip, and that's where a lot of these bands got their start.
- 18:14SPEAKER_24: And Van Halen was one of them, so I'm gonna give that away.
- 18:17SPEAKER_24: They are in the big four, because you could tell with the pictures.
- 18:20SPEAKER_24: So so before we go any further, uh judging from like what you know of the Sunset Strip, the bands that started there, who do you think is in the Big Four?
- 18:32SPEAKER_24: Well, do we say Van Halen?
- 18:33SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 18:33SPEAKER_25: Okay.
- 18:34SPEAKER_25: Obviously Guns and Roses.
- 18:35SPEAKER_24: Guns and Roses.
- 18:36SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 18:36SPEAKER_24: Alright, so what are the other two?
- 18:38SPEAKER_24: Motley Crue.
- 18:39SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 18:39SPEAKER_24: And Poison.
- 18:40SPEAKER_24: Motley Crue and Poison.
- 18:42SPEAKER_24: You think those are your big four?
- 18:43SPEAKER_24: I think those are the big four.
- 18:44SPEAKER_24: Um I will agree with Motley Crue.
- 18:48SPEAKER_24: Yeah, I would agree with Poison 2.
- 18:51SPEAKER_24: Yeah, it's probably poison.
- 18:52SPEAKER_24: I was gonna say uh rat.
- 18:55SPEAKER_25: I don't think so.
- 18:55SPEAKER_24: No?
- 18:56SPEAKER_25: I don't think so.
- 18:57SPEAKER_24: Um I mean they were definitely up there.
- 18:59SPEAKER_24: Didn't they come before poison?
- 19:00SPEAKER_25: Yeah, but I think poison, like just like Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 19:04SPEAKER_25: You know, over them.
- 19:05SPEAKER_25: Yeah, I'll go with Poison 2.
- 19:06SPEAKER_24: I'll go with the same thing.
- 19:07SPEAKER_24: Let's see, let's see what uh Ultimate Classic Rock says.
- 19:10SPEAKER_24: Uh look at that.
- 19:11SPEAKER_24: Motley Crue.
- 19:12SPEAKER_24: Right there.
- 19:12SPEAKER_24: First on the list.
- 19:14SPEAKER_24: Uh no band embody the outrageous decadence and depravity of the 80s Sunset Strip better than Motley Crue.
- 19:19SPEAKER_24: And if you've seen the movie The Dirt, you know.
- 19:23SPEAKER_24: You will agree.
- 19:24SPEAKER_24: Did I tell you?
- 19:25SPEAKER_24: I think I started watching that and I had to stop it.
- 19:27SPEAKER_25: Yeah, it's it's I mean, it's a good movie, but it's horrible.
- 19:31SPEAKER_25: It's disturbing.
- 19:31SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 19:32SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 19:32SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 19:32SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 19:33SPEAKER_25: Um because there's such a thing as decadence, but then Well that there there's decadence and then there was that.
- 19:40SPEAKER_24: Look at this.
- 19:42SPEAKER_24: The doors.
- 19:44SPEAKER_24: The doors?
- 19:45SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 19:46SPEAKER_24: The doors.
- 19:47SPEAKER_24: The doors weren't the first band to play the sunset strip, but historically they certainly feel like the first act to embrace it as home.
- 19:53SPEAKER_24: They're going way back.
- 19:55SPEAKER_24: Yeah, that's to like I would never I would never would have picked up.
- 19:59SPEAKER_24: When I think sunset strip, I think of hairbands.
- 20:01SPEAKER_24: Exactly.
- 20:01SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 20:02SPEAKER_24: Uh but the doors they have on the list.
- 20:04SPEAKER_24: I I would not and then of course Guns N' Roses.
- 20:06SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 20:07SPEAKER_24: I don't think we even have to go there.
- 20:09SPEAKER_24: Uh and Van Halen.
- 20:11SPEAKER_24: That was it?
- 20:12SPEAKER_24: That was it.
- 20:13SPEAKER_24: Well, that's four.
- 20:14SPEAKER_24: So yeah, Motley Crew.
- 20:15SPEAKER_24: Oh, geez.
- 20:16SPEAKER_24: I don't know.
- 20:17SPEAKER_24: The doors.
- 20:18SPEAKER_25: I don't I don't see the doors.
- 20:20SPEAKER_25: I mean.
- 20:22SPEAKER_24: Yes, they were there.
- 20:23SPEAKER_25: I mean, historically, I guess, but if you're talking I mean, look at the other three.
- 20:28SPEAKER_24: Exactly.
- 20:29SPEAKER_25: They're all 70s and 80s bands.
- 20:31SPEAKER_25: Right.
- 20:31SPEAKER_25: And then you got the doors of the 60s.
- 20:33SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 20:34SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 20:34SPEAKER_24: I mean.
- 20:35SPEAKER_24: Yeah, the cat house wasn't the cat house in the 60s.
- 20:38SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 20:39SPEAKER_24: Um neither was the whiskey a go.
- 20:41SPEAKER_24: I mean, whiskey a go was a was a thing, I think, in the sixties, wasn't it?
- 20:47SPEAKER_25: I think it was, but it wasn't what it is.
- 20:52SPEAKER_24: Right, yeah.
- 20:52SPEAKER_24: That's what I'm saying.
- 20:53SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 20:53SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 20:54SPEAKER_24: So I don't know.
- 20:55SPEAKER_24: I don't know.
- 20:57SPEAKER_24: Um we talked about Van Halen's jump.
- 21:00SPEAKER_24: So I'm I'm cruising through these things.
- 21:02SPEAKER_25: Yeah, I mean, it's just like, yeah, let's let's let's get this knocked out, man.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: Shameless.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: Um just turning it over, man.
- 21:10SPEAKER_24: Um, so we talked about the cover version of jump with Steve Vai that we don't really care for.
- 21:16SPEAKER_24: Uh some songs are sacred, some songs shouldn't be touched, and that's one of them.
- 21:20SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 21:20SPEAKER_24: Uh I have now uh from Ultimate Classic Rock 30 of the best rock and roll covers by women.
- 21:27SPEAKER_24: Sweet.
- 21:27SPEAKER_24: Yeah, and I I'm looking at the the faces that got here and and some impressive uh lady artists, female artists.
- 21:34SPEAKER_24: But I I haven't heard some of these like this one.
- 21:39SPEAKER_24: Robert uh or um Tina Turner doing a whole lot of love.
- 21:43SPEAKER_24: Did you know that she covered that?
- 21:44SPEAKER_24: I had no idea.
- 21:45SPEAKER_24: I had no idea either.
- 21:46SPEAKER_24: Let's uh see what that sounds like.
- 21:48SPEAKER_23: She's kicking down.
- 21:49SPEAKER_24: No, let's not.
- 21:50SPEAKER_24: Hold on.
- 21:54SPEAKER_24: Stupid political ad.
- 21:56SPEAKER_24: I know.
- 21:56SPEAKER_24: And you can't skip it either.
- 21:58SPEAKER_24: No.
- 21:58SPEAKER_24: That's crazy.
- 22:00SPEAKER_24: No, that's just crazy.
- 22:02SPEAKER_24: Um I can skip it in five seconds though.
- 22:06SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 22:07SPEAKER_24: Because that's not important.
- 22:08SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 22:09SPEAKER_24: Whatever that is.
- 22:11SPEAKER_24: I did not know to use the term to cover this.
- 22:26SPEAKER_25: This is definitely seventies.
- 22:29SPEAKER_25: Maybe early eighties.
- 22:35SPEAKER_23: That's gotta be seventies.
- 22:36SPEAKER_23: Gotta be.
- 22:41SPEAKER_25: Damn right.
- 22:45SPEAKER_25: That's after bad mouth.
- 22:57SPEAKER_25: Well, this is obviously after I.
- 23:00SPEAKER_23: Oh yeah.
- 23:01SPEAKER_23: Still low, yeah.
- 23:05SPEAKER_23: And this is definitely 72.
- 23:07SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 23:10SPEAKER_24: Okay, well, that's a long intro.
- 23:14SPEAKER_24: One minute intro.
- 23:16SPEAKER_24: Still going.
- 23:17SPEAKER_24: Still going.
- 23:37SPEAKER_24: I feel it.
- 23:47SPEAKER_24: No, I dig it.
- 23:48SPEAKER_24: I mean it's very seventies.
- 23:49SPEAKER_24: Oh.
- 23:50SPEAKER_24: Not that there's anything wrong with that one.
- 23:52SPEAKER_24: I dig it.
- 23:54SPEAKER_24: Uh Patty Smith.
- 23:56SPEAKER_24: I didn't I have to say.
- 24:03SPEAKER_24: But Patty Smith, uh, who is I guess a punk rocker, sort of.
- 24:10SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 24:11SPEAKER_24: Um alternative.
- 24:12SPEAKER_24: Alternative, yeah.
- 24:14SPEAKER_24: Um she did a cover.
- 24:15SPEAKER_24: Well, you tell me what song this is.
- 24:16SPEAKER_23: Master Agents, Kiki.
- 24:17SPEAKER_24: Not this one.
- 24:19SPEAKER_24: That's another political ad.
- 24:21SPEAKER_24: That's another political ad, yeah.
- 24:23SPEAKER_24: I have a feeling we're gonna see this every single time.
- 24:26SPEAKER_24: You're probably right.
- 24:28SPEAKER_24: And you can't again, you can't skip it.
- 24:30SPEAKER_24: Can't skip it because it's political ad.
- 24:32SPEAKER_24: Really important.
- 24:36SPEAKER_24: Alright, let's see if you can guess what's on this.
- 24:42SPEAKER_24: Sounds like Patty's Matt.
- 24:48SPEAKER_24: Not Patty's Mike, Patty's Mickey.
- 24:52SPEAKER_24: Now you know what it is, right?
- 24:57SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 24:58SPEAKER_24: Yeah, you do.
- 24:59SPEAKER_24: Tip of your tongue.
- 25:02SPEAKER_06: Yep.
- 25:16SPEAKER_16: Sort of gun guns.
- 25:24SPEAKER_16: Bring your friends.
- 25:26SPEAKER_16: It's fun to lose.
- 25:29SPEAKER_16: And to pre What's that look for?
- 25:31SPEAKER_16: She's over.
- 25:33SPEAKER_25: I never liked Patty Smith.
- 25:35SPEAKER_25: She's an acquired taste.
- 25:36SPEAKER_25: She's an yeah, she's like Moxie.
- 25:38SPEAKER_25: She's like an acquired taste, man.
- 25:41SPEAKER_24: Um I don't think I want to hear this one.
- 25:45SPEAKER_24: Uh I'm just gonna skip around now because I don't want to take up too much time.
- 25:48SPEAKER_24: Uh Dear Prudence, Susie and the Banshees.
- 25:51SPEAKER_25: I kind of want to hear this.
- 25:52SPEAKER_24: Because it's the Beatles?
- 25:54SPEAKER_25: No, because it's Suzy and the Banshees.
- 25:56SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 25:56SPEAKER_25: Well, let's do this.
- 25:57SPEAKER_25: I want to see what they've done to it.
- 25:58SPEAKER_25: Look at that.
- 25:59SPEAKER_25: Yeah, well, how did I know this was coming up?
- 26:03SPEAKER_24: I was never into Susie and the Banshees.
- 26:05SPEAKER_24: Did you?
- 26:05SPEAKER_24: Were you were you a follower of the show?
- 26:06SPEAKER_25: I I did I didn't.
- 26:07SPEAKER_25: I liked a couple of their songs.
- 26:10SPEAKER_25: Because for a while I was really into that alternative, like new wave 80s stuff.
- 26:14SPEAKER_25: Yep.
- 26:15SPEAKER_25: And so, you know, of course, you know, she's one of the big you know, from that era.
- 26:48SPEAKER_24: You know what that song could use?
- 26:52SPEAKER_24: A little bit of reverb.
- 26:53SPEAKER_24: A little bit.
- 26:56SPEAKER_25: That was kind of their style, though.
- 26:57SPEAKER_25: Oh, I know.
- 27:01SPEAKER_25: It's not! No, it's not terrible.
- 27:03SPEAKER_25: It's not.
- 27:04SPEAKER_24: And it's from the you know, from the era.
- 27:05SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 27:06SPEAKER_24: Uh okay, I I don't want to play this.
- 27:07SPEAKER_24: I mean, I do want to play this because I love this version.
- 27:10SPEAKER_24: Actually, I love this version better than the original.
- 27:13SPEAKER_24: Uh I don't usually say that, but The Bangles, Hazy Shade of Winter.
- 27:17SPEAKER_24: Oh, that's a good cover.
- 27:18SPEAKER_24: It's a great cover.
- 27:18SPEAKER_24: That is a fantastic job with that song.
- 27:21SPEAKER_24: So good.
- 27:21SPEAKER_24: And I I love the Simon Garfuckel original, but this one is, I mean, they really, really made it.
- 27:26SPEAKER_25: Oh, it was really, really good.

- 27:43SPEAKER_24: Uh I gotta there's gotta be a way.
- 27:46SPEAKER_24: I probably have to subscribe to YouTube or something like that.
- 27:48SPEAKER_24: That's the thing.
- 27:49SPEAKER_24: You're gonna have to pay for something you recognize.
- 27:51SPEAKER_24: YouTube premium.
- 27:53SPEAKER_24: See if you recognize this.
- 27:54SPEAKER_24: This is Nora Jones.

- 35:26SPEAKER_25: No, ever.
- 35:27SPEAKER_25: We could never do it.
- 35:28SPEAKER_25: Ever.
- 35:29SPEAKER_25: We could do it ironically.

- 36:12SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 36:13SPEAKER_24: You know, even when she kind of picked up in them in the chorus there.
- 36:17SPEAKER_24: What would have been okay if you just heard it?
- 36:19SPEAKER_24: I just didn't see the video.
- 36:20SPEAKER_25: Nah, I like just the synthesizer.

- 50:24SPEAKER_25: I remember that.
- 50:25SPEAKER_24: Um the Bermuda Triangle is real, right?
- 50:29SPEAKER_24: Right?
- 50:30SPEAKER_25: That didn't really that never bothered me because I was it's not like I was gonna go there.
- 50:34SPEAKER_25: Exactly.
- 50:35SPEAKER_25: You know, I was like, oh, I'm gonna we're going to Bermuda.
- 50:38SPEAKER_25: No!
- 50:38SPEAKER_24: Right, I'll never come back.
- 50:41SPEAKER_24: So yeah, no.
- 50:43SPEAKER_24: Um and let's kind of dovetail nicely into our next segment, which is Movies! Movies, 80s movies, um poorly explained movies.
- 50:55SPEAKER_24: 80s 80s edition.
- 50:58SPEAKER_24: I like it a lot.
- 51:00SPEAKER_24: I like it a lot as well.
- 51:02SPEAKER_24: Let's let's click on this and get some atmosphere.
- 51:10SPEAKER_25: Um can't answer anything without the 80s music.
- 51:13SPEAKER_25: Was that Tim Tebow?
- 51:15SPEAKER_25: Yes.
- 51:15SPEAKER_25: It was I don't know, was it?
- 51:17SPEAKER_24: I don't know why as well as I'm kinda looked like him.
- 51:19SPEAKER_24: All right, I have three that I think you'll get.
- 51:21SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 51:22SPEAKER_24: And one that I'm not sure.
- 51:24SPEAKER_24: All right.
- 51:24SPEAKER_24: Sound good.
- 51:27SPEAKER_24: All right.
- 51:31SPEAKER_24: A fire detector falls in love.
- 51:36SPEAKER_25: That was um what's the what's the clue?
- 51:52SPEAKER_24: He uses his nose.

- 52:02SPEAKER_24: 1987.
- 52:06SPEAKER_25: Okay, I thought I knew, but now I don't.
- 52:10SPEAKER_24: He was a fire chief.
- 52:13SPEAKER_24: Fire detector.
- 52:15SPEAKER_24: Uses his nose.
- 52:19SPEAKER_24: If I give you I'll give you another clue.
- 52:21SPEAKER_24: Cyroneau de Bergerac.
- 52:24SPEAKER_24: What?
- 52:25SPEAKER_24: Cyrino de Bergerac?
- 52:27SPEAKER_24: Do you know the story of Cyrino?
- 52:29SPEAKER_25: Are you having a stroke?
- 52:32SPEAKER_24: You know the story of Cyreno.
- 52:34SPEAKER_24: No, I don't.
- 52:34SPEAKER_24: You don't?
- 52:35SPEAKER_24: I don't think so.
- 52:38SPEAKER_24: Where uh a guy is in love with a girl, but he's not very good at talking to her, so he gets a someone who has a personality to feed him the lines, and she falls in love with him thinking that he said these lines, but he didn't.
- 52:57SPEAKER_24: Actually, it was another guy that said the lines.
- 52:59SPEAKER_24: That's the classic Cyrene de Burgerac story.
- 53:03SPEAKER_24: I never heard that.
- 53:04SPEAKER_24: Really?
- 53:05SPEAKER_24: No.
- 53:05SPEAKER_24: That's like classic literature.
- 53:07SPEAKER_24: I thought you would you would know that one.
- 53:09SPEAKER_24: Anyway, are you giving up?
- 53:11SPEAKER_24: A fire detector falls in love.
- 53:13SPEAKER_24: He uses his nose.
- 53:14SPEAKER_24: Maybe you haven't seen this movie.
- 53:16SPEAKER_25: It doesn't sound familiar.
- 53:18SPEAKER_24: Um, let's see if I can give you another clue.
- 53:21SPEAKER_24: Um A fire detector falls in love with Daryl Hannah.
- 53:27SPEAKER_25: It's not Splash.
- 53:29SPEAKER_24: Nope.
- 53:33SPEAKER_25: Is it the jerk?
- 53:34SPEAKER_25: No.
- 53:35SPEAKER_25: No, but you're on the right track.
- 53:37SPEAKER_25: Steve Martin?
- 53:37SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 53:38SPEAKER_25: Steve Martin movie?
- 53:39SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 53:42SPEAKER_24: If you haven't seen this movie, you have to see it.
- 53:45SPEAKER_25: I I it's not coming to me.
- 53:48SPEAKER_24: Wow.
- 53:48SPEAKER_24: Interesting.
- 53:48SPEAKER_24: Roxanne.
- 53:50SPEAKER_25: Oh.
- 53:51SPEAKER_25: Okay.
- 53:52unknown: Yeah.
- 53:52SPEAKER_24: Have you seen that?
- 53:53SPEAKER_24: Maybe.
- 53:54SPEAKER_24: I love that movie.
- 53:55SPEAKER_24: I I don't know.
- 53:56SPEAKER_24: It's funny.
- 53:57SPEAKER_24: It's a good movie.
- 53:58SPEAKER_24: Well, I mean Steve Martin.
- 53:59SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 53:59SPEAKER_24: You can't go wrong.
- 54:00SPEAKER_24: So.
- 54:01SPEAKER_24: Uh all right.
- 54:02SPEAKER_24: This one you will get.
- 54:03SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 54:05SPEAKER_24: I think.
- 54:06SPEAKER_24: I thought you were gonna get that one.
- 54:08SPEAKER_24: You know.
- 54:08SPEAKER_24: Some kids are rewarded for cleaning out an attic.
- 54:13SPEAKER_24: Goonies.
- 54:15SPEAKER_24: I knew you'd get that one.
- 54:16SPEAKER_24: That's an easy one.
- 54:17SPEAKER_24: I I know you'll get this one too.
- 54:19SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 54:19SPEAKER_24: Actually, I haven't read the clue, so.
- 54:23SPEAKER_24: Oh, maybe uh, you know, I don't know.
- 54:26SPEAKER_24: I I know you love this movie, so you might get it.
- 54:29SPEAKER_24: But the clue is really poorly explained.
- 54:32SPEAKER_24: Well, that's the name of the game.
- 54:33SPEAKER_24: Here we go.
- 54:34SPEAKER_24: A debt collector stops at nothing to get what is owed to him.
- 54:40SPEAKER_24: Debt collector.
- 54:43SPEAKER_24: Oh, I get it now.
- 54:48SPEAKER_24: You ask me for the hint, you'll get it.
- 54:49SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 54:50SPEAKER_24: So I'll say the clue again.
- 54:51SPEAKER_24: A debt collector.
- 54:52SPEAKER_24: A debt collector stops at nothing to get what is owed to him.
- 54:56SPEAKER_24: It's two dollars.
- 54:58SPEAKER_25: Ha ha ha.
- 54:58SPEAKER_25: Better off, dead.
- 55:00SPEAKER_25: I want my two dollars.
- 55:05SPEAKER_24: All right.
- 55:06SPEAKER_24: Now you can make up for the one that you missed because this is the one that I didn't think you would get.
- 55:10SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 55:11SPEAKER_24: And if you get this, then you'll make up for it.
- 55:13SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 55:13SPEAKER_24: It balances itself out.
- 55:14SPEAKER_24: All right.
- 55:16SPEAKER_24: A flute player doesn't want to miss the eclipse.
- 55:31SPEAKER_25: I have no idea.
- 55:33SPEAKER_24: You want the hint?
- 55:34SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 55:34SPEAKER_24: He's a puppet.
- 55:36SPEAKER_24: From 1982.
- 55:40SPEAKER_22: He's a puppet?
- 55:41SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 55:42SPEAKER_24: Actually, the whole cast are puppets.
- 55:45SPEAKER_24: A flute player doesn't want to miss the eclipse.
- 55:49SPEAKER_25: I don't have a freaking clue.
- 55:52SPEAKER_24: Jim Hansen?
- 55:54SPEAKER_25: Is it a Muppet movie?
- 55:55SPEAKER_24: No.
- 55:56SPEAKER_24: It's The Dark Crystal.
- 55:58SPEAKER_24: Never saw it.
- 55:58SPEAKER_24: You never saw the Dark Crystal.
- 56:01SPEAKER_24: Wow.
- 56:01SPEAKER_24: That surprises me.
- 56:03SPEAKER_24: 1982.
- 56:04SPEAKER_24: Nope.
- 56:04SPEAKER_24: That came out.
- 56:05SPEAKER_24: Never saw it.
- 56:06SPEAKER_24: Um, it's weird.
- 56:08SPEAKER_25: Uh I think that's probably why I never saw it.
- 56:10SPEAKER_24: It's it's it's strange.
- 56:11SPEAKER_24: Actually, my kids started watching it like uh my younger my older kids when they were younger started watching it and it's like, nope, I'm done.
- 56:17SPEAKER_24: I don't want to watch it.
- 56:18SPEAKER_24: Yeah, it's it's it's not bad, but it's cheesy and creepy.
- 56:25SPEAKER_22: Oh, okay.
- 56:25SPEAKER_24: Well, yeah.
- 56:26SPEAKER_24: There's probably a reason why I didn't think it's but it's classic, it's a called classic.
- 56:29SPEAKER_24: Oh, I'm sure, yeah.
- 56:30SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 56:31SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 56:31SPEAKER_24: Alright.
- 56:32SPEAKER_24: So I was right on one, but I was wrong on the other.
- 56:35SPEAKER_24: Because I thought you were gonna get one and you didn't want to.
- 56:37SPEAKER_24: And then I thought you weren't gonna get one and you didn't.
- 56:39SPEAKER_24: It happens.
- 56:40SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 56:40SPEAKER_25: Anyway, I'm not perfect.
- 56:42SPEAKER_25: I know.
- 56:43SPEAKER_25: Neither am I Far from it.
- 56:45SPEAKER_24: Uh so that is poorly explained movies 80s edition, and that uh makes us dovetail nicely into It's time for everyone's favorite part of the show.
- 56:55SPEAKER_16: With everyone's favorites, O'Brien, Doug, Cousin Larry, and yours truly, Miss Judge Ness, Judge Ness, Judge Ness.
- 57:04SPEAKER_16: It's time to play Mixtape.
- 57:07SPEAKER_24: Alrighty Rude.
- 57:10SPEAKER_24: Uh so we don't have uh past, correct?
- 57:14SPEAKER_24: Or do we?
- 57:17SPEAKER_25: Well, she didn't she wrote it out.
- 57:18SPEAKER_25: You know how she's been doing it by voice?
- 57:21SPEAKER_25: Okay, so she gave us what but she Yeah, she gave us her answer, but it's just not on voice.
- 57:25SPEAKER_24: Good, good, good, good.
- 57:26SPEAKER_25: So I don't even remember what last week was.
- 57:28SPEAKER_25: Uh it was the uh it was the dri the the driver hits you and you're chasing him after.
- 57:38SPEAKER_23: Oh, and I did sabotage by beastie voice.
- 57:40SPEAKER_23: Yeah, it's okay.
- 57:40SPEAKER_25: So okay, so this is what she says.
- 57:44SPEAKER_25: Okay, so good good evening, glorious gentleman in the fun dungeon.
- 57:48SPEAKER_25: Oh that's a that's a nice that's a nice start.
- 57:50SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 57:51SPEAKER_25: I apologize.
- 57:52SPEAKER_25: I did not pre-record a judgment, and I am in a location I can I can't record it.
- 57:57SPEAKER_25: Where is she?
- 57:58SPEAKER_25: I have no idea.
- 57:59SPEAKER_25: She didn't say where's she working?
- 58:01SPEAKER_25: Uh in the in the in the uh in the in the uh in that place with the with with doors and a window.
- 58:08SPEAKER_25: It's really cool.
- 58:08SPEAKER_25: You should you should go see it today.
- 58:11SPEAKER_25: It's just over there.
- 58:14SPEAKER_25: So really helpful.
- 58:17SPEAKER_25: Continue.
- 58:19SPEAKER_25: This week was epic, all really intense picks, but I had to go with Doug's pick this week.
- 58:24SPEAKER_25: Of course.
- 58:25SPEAKER_25: That one sounds epic and intense during a fast car chase after being sideswiped.
- 58:30SPEAKER_25: P.S.
- 58:31SPEAKER_25: Doug was close with race car driver.
- 58:33SPEAKER_25: I do drive fast.
- 58:35SPEAKER_25: Remember, you were trying to guess what she does, and I said race car driver.
- 58:38SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 58:39SPEAKER_24: I do drive.
- 58:40SPEAKER_24: But that's not what she does for a living, though.
- 58:42SPEAKER_25: No, but she does drive fast.
- 58:44SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 58:45SPEAKER_25: And then I told her what you said earlier about what did I say?
- 58:48SPEAKER_25: Because she didn't leave a voice while so she was fired.
- 58:50SPEAKER_25: So I wrote Oh, you told her that.
- 58:53SPEAKER_25: No worries.
- 58:53SPEAKER_25: I told again.
- 58:54SPEAKER_25: Brian, on the other end, is very upset and says you're fired.
- 58:56SPEAKER_25: And then she's like, oh no, and she's got some laughing faces.
- 58:59SPEAKER_25: She says, I'll pick his pick next time.
- 59:02SPEAKER_25: And then parentheses, if it's a good song.
- 59:04SPEAKER_25: I'll take it.
- 59:05SPEAKER_22: I'll take it.
- 59:08SPEAKER_25: So.
- 59:09SPEAKER_23: Alright.
- 59:10SPEAKER_24: If nothing, she can take a joke.
- 59:12SPEAKER_24: So that was passed.
- 59:14SPEAKER_06: And now we've been present.
- 59:17SPEAKER_24: And the question was I shall need it right now.
- 59:22SPEAKER_24: What song would you have played Defending the Alamo?
- 59:28SPEAKER_25: Alright, so here's Cousin Larry.
- 59:30SPEAKER_25: Alright.
- 59:31SPEAKER_25: Mixtape.
- 59:32SPEAKER_25: Well, these kind of questions definitely bring out the metalhead side of me.
- 59:36SPEAKER_25: I know there are ballads out there about the Alamo, but this calls for a song to fire you up for battle.
- 59:42SPEAKER_25: I definitely thought about the Immigrant song by Led Zeppelin, but I've used that one for other questions, so I want to use something different.
- 59:49SPEAKER_25: Another song I have used before, Pantera's Cowboys from Hell, also came to mind, and any song from Sabaton's The Last Stand album would be good as well.
- 59:59SPEAKER_25: But I think I have to go with Iron Maidens the Trooper.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_25: Oh wow.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_25: With honorable mention to Metallica's For Whom the Bell Tolls and Judas Priest's All Guns Blazing.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_25: Either of those would work as well.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_24: All right, so Iron Maidens the Trooper.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_24: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_25: More ads.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_24: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_23: Defending the Alamo.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_24: It's like perfect.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_24: Oh yeah.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_24: Lyrically perfect.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_23: Alright, what is yours?
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_25: Um, I had to go with uh you know, in in being my weird self.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_25: Yeah.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_23: Um I went weird too.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_25: Okay.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_25: I went with always look on the bright side of life from uh Monty Python's Life of Brian.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_24: So Yeah.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_24: Let's see.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_21: You know what they say?
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_21: Some things in life are mad.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_21: They can really make you mad.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_21: Other things just make you swear and curse.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_21: When you're chewing on life's gristle, grumble, give a whistle.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_21: And this'll help things turn out for the best.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_21: Hey.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_21: Always look on the bright side of life.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_21: So you're defending the alma with this song?
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_21: Yeah.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_21: Always look on the light side of life.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_21: If life seems jolly rotten, there's something you forgot, and that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_21: When you're feeling in the dumps, don't be silly chumps.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_21: Just purse your lips and whistle.
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_21: That's the king.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_24: Alright, so I went I went kind of weird as well.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_24: Um So I thought if I was if I was defending, um start that bulgaria.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_12: Okay, uh be real nice to him, eh?
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_12: Okay.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_12: This is uh the hit single section of our album.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_12: Good day.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_12: Good day.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_12: Good day.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_12: Uh Getty Lee is here from Rush.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_12: Uh hi, Getty.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_12: I'm Bob Mackenzie.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_12: This is my brother Doug.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_12: How's it going, Getty?
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_12: Oh, it's going pretty good.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_12: Good day, eh?
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_12: Good day.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_12: Good day.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_12: Uh thanks for coming down to do our hit.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_12: Well, it's my pleasure.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_12: Did did our lawyer call you?
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_21: I'm uh, you know, ten bucks is ten bucks.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_12: Uh we're uh I hope you don't mind, but there's a photographer that's gonna be taking pictures of us together to prove that you are here doing uh the recording.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_12: In case people don't believe us.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_12: Yeah, how come he's not wearing a tooth?
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_12: Oh, he's not from the Great Way Norway.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_12: Okay, so if you like, beauty, go.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_12: Okay, good day, welcome to our digo.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_12: I'm Bob Mackenzie, and this is my brother Doctor to go ahead.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_12: Beauty, yeah, I like that.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_12: Okay, okay everyone.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_12: This record was my idea.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_12: What you're like here just to sort of writ on my coat.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_24: I was really going flipped the chorus when Kenny comes in.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_02: We agreed.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_07: Like if I'm defending the Alamo, it's a beauty way to go.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, it's good.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_24: I think you look if you haven't heard that song, uh Bob and Doug McKenzie uh take off featuring um Hey guys, take off!

- 1:04:48SPEAKER_25: Oh yeah.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_25: So good.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_24: Yep.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_24: Uh so that's my pick for Defending the Alamo Take Off from Bob and Doug Mackenzie.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_24: Uh and and Getty Lee.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_24: From Getty Lee, yes.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_24: And then yours was uh Always Look on the Bright Side of Life from Monty Python's Life of Brian, right?
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_24: Life of Brian, yep.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_24: And then, of course, the Trooper, which I think is probably gonna win uh from Iron Maiden was Cousin Larry's.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_24: So that is the present.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_24: Now we have to pick the future.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_24: Up the song.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_24: Correct.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_24: Like we've broken up and we want to make up.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_24: We were on it.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_24: Or we were fighting.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_24: We had a fight.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_24: Sure.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_24: And we want to make up.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_24: Yeah.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_25: Okay.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_25: I assume that's the context.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_25: So.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_25: Alright, we'll go with it.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_25: I'm going to snap a photo of this with my failure device.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_25: Send it to he's on board.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_24: Uh, and while you do that, we're gonna take a break.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_24: We're gonna take a break.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_24: We'll come back.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_24: We'll come back.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_24: Are you mocking me?
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_24: Are you mocking me?
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_24: And we'll climb the wall of tunes.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_24: And we'll call you the wall of tunes.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_24: You do it better than I do.

- 1:13:45SPEAKER_25: Oh yeah, we have.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_25: I wonder if I've already done this one.
- 1:13:48SPEAKER_25: Because we've only done him once, and that was like way, way, way back.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_24: Okay, the only reason the this is in my head is because there's a song on here called You and Whose Army.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_25: Ah.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_24: And I remember liking the name of that song.
- 1:14:02SPEAKER_24: Okay.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_24: Um, anyway, this is uh he did the cover of John Lennon.
- 1:14:08SPEAKER_24: I'm losing you.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_24: You don't remember.
- 1:14:12SPEAKER_24: Maybe maybe we didn't do this album.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_24: It's called Make a Mistake.

- 1:15:09SPEAKER_24: All right.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_10: Starting to understand.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_10: It's under my skin again.
- 1:15:56SPEAKER_10: And I take it harder than us to take the vibe.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_10: When you play around.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_10: What's up there?
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_25: It's like half John Bon Joe Bonamasa and half uh John Mayer.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_25: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_25: How do you know?
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_24: So he starts this album with a cover from John Lennon and he ends it with a cover from Jimi Hendrix.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_24: Rainy Day Dream Away.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_24: Nice.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_24: Yeah, it's cool.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_11: Looking out across the front yard all the way to the fence.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_24: Let me just move.
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_24: I'm gonna move through these here.
- 1:16:58SPEAKER_24: So black eyed dog.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_25: I bet he's using a stomp pedal.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_13: Could be.
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_13: Like a dog he called at my door.
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_13: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_13: Play that again?
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_25: What?
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_25: Which part?
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_25: When he starts saying Like a doggy called for more.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_25: Do you say the black-eyed dog knocked on my door?
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_25: I don't know, I don't think so.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_25: Like a doggy knew my name.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_02: Maybe he did knock.
- 1:17:54SPEAKER_25: With what?
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_02: His pause.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_25: He would scratch at the door.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_24: That would be Oh no, he called at my door.
- 1:18:01SPEAKER_25: Like a dog.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_25: Okay, well I can accept that.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_25: Like a dog.
- 1:18:07SPEAKER_25: Never seen a dog knock on a door.
- 1:18:09SPEAKER_25: Going old and I wanna go home.
- 1:18:14SPEAKER_13: Going old and I don't wanna know.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_13: Going old and I wanna go.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_24: This is you and whose army.
- 1:19:44SPEAKER_24: Canadian singer-songwriter Bruce Guthrow.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_24: Rest in peace.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_24: Um and he would have two to three guests like the in in the round.
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_24: There's so there's an audience, but they would sit and they would each go from each like one would sing a song and then the other one would sing a song.
- 1:20:05SPEAKER_24: Right.
- 1:20:06SPEAKER_24: And, you know, one time he had um Jim uh Cutter from uh Blue Rodeo, which is a great Canadian band.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_24: And I think it was that episode that he had Colin James on, and Colin James did a bunch of songs, and I was like, ah, I dig this guy.
- 1:20:23SPEAKER_24: So I looked him up, and uh I have geez, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
- 1:20:36SPEAKER_24: I have eight Colin James albums.
- 1:20:40SPEAKER_24: Um and I just dig his stuff.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_24: So there you go.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_24: He is good.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_24: Colin James, Traveler is the name of this week's album.
- 1:20:52SPEAKER_24: So there you go.
- 1:20:54SPEAKER_24: Um that's it.
- 1:20:56SPEAKER_24: That's it, that's all.
- 1:20:57SPEAKER_24: That's it, that's all.

- 1:21:17SPEAKER_25: I know.
- 1:21:19SPEAKER_25: I don't know the words of a lot of songs.
- 1:21:23SPEAKER_24: Even the ones you sing live sometimes.
- 1:21:26SPEAKER_25: I don't.
- 1:21:27SPEAKER_24: I don't.
- 1:21:29SPEAKER_24: But you you you pull it off so well.
- 1:21:32SPEAKER_25: Well, it I think it's in the delivery.
