- 0:04Speaker 1: This happened last Thursday, and before you ask, yes, I
- 0:08Speaker 1: told the cops everything. I teach a class of about
- 0:11Speaker 1: 30 students on a normal day, including those who tie
- 0:14Speaker 1: in virtually. I have a hard time keeping their attention,
- 0:18Speaker 1: except when I'm talking about sex ed. So I knew
- 0:22Speaker 1: that when the actual lockdown was happening, most of them
- 0:25Speaker 1: were just going to shrug it off and not pay attention.
- 0:29Speaker 1: They didn't realize how real the threat was. We have
- 0:32Speaker 1: always said that we would be fine. But when that
- 0:34Speaker 1: announcement came over the speaker, I don't think any of
- 0:37Speaker 1: us were. And my job as their teacher was to
- 0:40Speaker 1: keep them calm and collected as we left our classroom
- 0:43Speaker 1: and went to our designated spot, a computer room.
- 0:46Speaker 2: A few doors down.
- 0:47Speaker 1: The plan was simple. We would barricade the door while
- 0:51Speaker 1: security roamed the halls and found the danger. I told
- 0:54Speaker 1: myself that it was all going to go exactly according
- 0:57Speaker 1: to plan, just like it had during our dozens of drills.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It happened midway down the south hall, As we were
- 1:03Speaker 1: going in between the rooms, the roar of the air
- 1:05Speaker 1: conditioner turned on louder than usual, and it made all
- 1:08Speaker 1: of us stop to look. Then, some sort of strange
- 1:12Speaker 1: purple mist was pouring.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Out of the vents.
- 1:14Speaker 1: It looked like a cloud of electric mist. What the
- 1:17Speaker 1: hell is that? One student asked as it snaked its
- 1:21Speaker 1: way out of the vent toward us. I knew that
- 1:23Speaker 1: whatever it was, it had to be dangerous. But sadly,
- 1:27Speaker 1: my students weren't as bright. One boy reached his hand
- 1:30Speaker 1: out inquisitively and tried to touch the cloud. I watched
- 1:34Speaker 1: as bolts of lightning coursed through his body and made
- 1:37Speaker 1: him light up like a Christmas tree. It was terrifying
- 1:40Speaker 1: to behold. And the lightning entered and scorched his bones.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Then he fell to the ground and all of us
- 1:45Speaker 1: watched as the strange mist pushed its way out of
- 1:48Speaker 1: his mouth and nostrils.
- 1:50Speaker 3: It was alive. Run!
- 1:52Speaker 1: I urged the kids as we made it to the
- 1:54Speaker 1: computer room. I told a larger kid to block the
- 1:56Speaker 1: door and I got on my walkie-talkie to tell the
- 1:59Speaker 1: principal what was happening. We've got a problem in the
- 2:01Speaker 1: south wing, I shouted. I was only greeted by static.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Then the air started to roar again, and we realized
- 2:09Speaker 1: the same mist was.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Pushing its way into the computer room.
- 2:12Speaker 3: We were trapped.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Out the window, I urged them. Suddenly, the strange alien
- 2:18Speaker 1: cloud was moving faster, hitting three different students one by one.
- 2:21Speaker 1: They fell unconscious to the floor in less than a second. Meanwhile,
- 2:25Speaker 1: a few girls were crying the window open, calling to
- 2:28Speaker 1: some of the kids down in the football field to help.
- 2:30Speaker 1: but they only got a few words out before the
- 2:32Speaker 1: cloud engulfed them as well. Before I knew what was happening,
- 2:37Speaker 1: I was standing in a room of dead kids. The
- 2:39Speaker 1: cloud swirled about, seemingly staring me down as I fearfully
- 2:43Speaker 1: backed away to one of the walls. Then, perhaps full
- 2:46Speaker 1: from its feasts, it dissipated. The cameras didn't show anything
- 2:51Speaker 1: except the fact that the kids had mysteriously collapsed. The
- 2:54Speaker 1: medical report said it was some kind of shock or
- 2:57Speaker 1: heart condition, and some parents accepted that. but I know
- 3:00Speaker 1: what I saw. And I'm worried that it's still inside
- 3:04Speaker 1: our vents, waiting for the next drill to strike again.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Ms.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Shriver was just finishing a lecture about gun safety when
- 3:14Speaker 1: she unlocked her closet and pulled out the strange-looking doll.
- 3:17Speaker 1: It was about five foot tall, a genderless, bland mannequin
- 3:20Speaker 1: that looked like it had seen better days, with rubber
- 3:22Speaker 1: eyeballs glued in and a wavy smile taped on. A
- 3:26Speaker 1: few of the girls in the back of the class
- 3:27Speaker 1: giggled at how silly it looked. Class, this is Lockdown Larry. Now,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I know that he doesn't look like much, but he's
- 3:34Speaker 1: going to teach us all about what happens when we
- 3:37Speaker 1: don't follow the rules on safety, Ms. Shriver explained. Immediately,
- 3:41Speaker 1: Bradley Colt burst out laughing right behind me. This is
- 3:44Speaker 1: the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Is it supposed to
- 3:47Speaker 1: be a CPR dummy? How is a mannequin supposed to
- 3:49Speaker 1: help us? Some of the other students muttered and laughed
- 3:52Speaker 1: in agreement. It was a bit absurd, but our English
- 3:56Speaker 1: teacher did not look amused. She grabbed her ruler and
- 3:59Speaker 1: smacked it right against my desk. Her eyes seemed to
- 4:01Speaker 1: convey nothing but pure rage. Because, Bradley, if we are
- 4:05Speaker 1: just as complacent as this dumb doll, as you call it,
- 4:08Speaker 1: then we're going to be in danger when a lockdown happens.
- 4:11Speaker 1: We all need to be aware of what our role
- 4:13Speaker 1: is in, but she didn't get to finish. Colt just
- 4:16Speaker 1: simply could not stop laughing. He was literally red in
- 4:19Speaker 1: the face. And then Shriver got that way too, but
- 4:22Speaker 1: for an entirely different reason.
- 4:25Speaker 3: She was angry.
- 4:26Speaker 1: She opened her mouth to say something else when over
- 4:28Speaker 1: the intercom, an announcement was made that we were doing
- 4:30Speaker 1: a lockdown drill. Then she smiled. It did not seem
- 4:34Speaker 1: like a friendly smile. Well, this is a perfect chance
- 4:37Speaker 1: for us to all see what happens when we don't
- 4:39Speaker 1: respect our rules, she muttered. Bradley rolled his eyes and
- 4:43Speaker 1: crossed his arms as the rest of us got over
- 4:45Speaker 1: toward the wall. Class, I want all of you to
- 4:48Speaker 1: head for the science hall. Bradley, you'll stay here and
- 4:51Speaker 1: learn your lesson, our teacher announced. Colt just laughed again,
- 4:55Speaker 1: but sounded a little nervous. I think we all were.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Miss Shriver was one of those teachers that you simply
- 5:01Speaker 1: didn't want to cross. So the rest of us quietly
- 5:03Speaker 1: shuffled out, and she stayed behind with him. We kept
- 5:06Speaker 1: our heads down and wondered what sort of punishment she
- 5:09Speaker 1: was about to dish out for poor Bradley. The bell
- 5:12Speaker 1: rang about five minutes later, and it was time to
- 5:14Speaker 1: get back to class. All of us imagined there was
- 5:18Speaker 1: going to be some kind of lecture, and Bradley was
- 5:20Speaker 1: going to be making a proper apology when we came in.
- 5:23Speaker 1: But instead... When we got into the classroom, we saw
- 5:26Speaker 1: something that made our blood run cold. Now instead of
- 5:29Speaker 1: one mannequin, there were two. And upon closer inspection of it,
- 5:34Speaker 1: we realized the second lifelike doll.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Looked exactly like Bradley Colton.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Miss Shriver smiled in a sinister way as we looked
- 5:41Speaker 1: toward her. Now class, let's all turn our attention to
- 5:45Speaker 1: page 42 of our history books. Bradley's mannequin stayed perfectly
- 5:49Speaker 1: still the rest of class. After school, I overheard Miss
- 5:52Speaker 1: Shriver tell his parents... that there had been an accident
- 5:55Speaker 1: during the lockdown drill. They swore up and down they
- 5:58Speaker 1: were going to sue her and the school. I thought
- 6:00Speaker 1: about telling them the truth of the strange evil that
- 6:03Speaker 1: had overtaken him, but then I saw Ms. Shriver smile again,
- 6:06Speaker 1: and my heart dropped. Don't forget the lesson of Lockdown Larry,
- 6:11Speaker 1: she whispered to us as we left school, and I
- 6:14Speaker 1: knew we were all wondering the same question. What the
- 6:17Speaker 1: hell did she do to Bradley? The bell rings. Mr.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Solomon says something to us about how this is not
- 6:27Speaker 1: a drill, but honestly, I'm not really paying attention. You
- 6:31Speaker 1: know how everything works so perfectly whenever you practice, but
- 6:34Speaker 1: then the real thing occurs, and you feel like a
- 6:37Speaker 1: chicken with your head cut off? As my friends are
- 6:39Speaker 1: shuffling out toward the hallway, that's exactly how I feel.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I don't recall what we are supposed to be doing,
- 6:45Speaker 1: so I just keep quiet and follow the crowd as
- 6:48Speaker 1: we head for the gym. I mentally wonder how many
- 6:50Speaker 1: of us actually don't have a clue What if we
- 6:53Speaker 1: were just like lemmings being led off a cliff? In
- 6:56Speaker 1: the gym, Principal McSchroeder is asking for different honor roll
- 6:59Speaker 1: students to do a head count. Make sure we are
- 7:02Speaker 1: all here. I can't help but to notice the confusion
- 7:05Speaker 1: on everyone's faces. We really weren't expecting this. Everyone is wondering,
- 7:09Speaker 1: is this for real or just another drill? Of course,
- 7:13Speaker 1: the teachers don't tell us. We're just supposed to obey
- 7:15Speaker 1: and do as we're told. Looks like everyone is accounted for,
- 7:20Speaker 1: one girl tells the principal. Something about all of this
- 7:23Speaker 1: feels wrong. Like a floodgate, the memories of all our
- 7:26Speaker 1: drills are pouring into my head. We never came to
- 7:29Speaker 1: this gym before. I can't help but to feel claustrophobic.
- 7:33Speaker 1: What if this was some kind of trap? I look around.
- 7:36Speaker 1: There's got to be at least 900 kids in here.
- 7:39Speaker 1: And I realize that I don't feel safe in this crowd.
- 7:42Speaker 1: This is not what we are supposed to be doing.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I push through, mumbling excuses as I wriggle toward the
- 7:47Speaker 1: back hallway. We always went to the closet bathroom and
- 7:50Speaker 1: locked ourselves inside.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Always, always, always, I thought.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And as I made it out toward the rear, I
- 7:56Speaker 1: could hear myself think clearly again. And I pulled out
- 7:59Speaker 1: my phone to text my best friend, Seth. Get out
- 8:02Speaker 1: of the gym, not safe, is all I can think
- 8:04Speaker 1: of to say. I didn't really have an explanation to
- 8:07Speaker 1: back up that statement. Just a feeling. Then a soft
- 8:10Speaker 1: ping made a few students look toward me as I
- 8:12Speaker 1: was told to silence my phone. And I read a
- 8:14Speaker 1: message that made my heart drop. I'm not in the gym.
- 8:18Speaker 1: What do you want about Now my heart is racing.
- 8:21Speaker 1: The entire scene of getting here plays out in my
- 8:23Speaker 1: mind again. As I look up, I realize the entire
- 8:26Speaker 1: auditorium is staring at me.
- 8:28Speaker 2: No one is blinking.
- 8:29Speaker 1: The back of my neck feels sweaty as I cling
- 8:31Speaker 1: to the wall. Where the hell am I? I see
- 8:34Speaker 1: an emergency exit next to me and stumble through it.
- 8:36Speaker 1: I ran like the devil himself was chasing me. I
- 8:39Speaker 1: made it all the way to the east bathroom, the
- 8:41Speaker 1: one I was supposed to be at, and ducked inside.
- 8:44Speaker 1: When I saw familiar faces, I felt.
- 8:45Speaker 2: A rush of relief.
- 8:47Speaker 3: And where exactly have you been?
- 8:48Speaker 2: Mr.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Solomon asked angrily. My mind flashed back to the gym.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Who the hell did I just follow? I can't explain
- 8:55Speaker 1: right now. Just follow me, I replied as I quickly
- 8:57Speaker 1: led him toward the gym, brightened and worried about what
- 8:59Speaker 1: we would see. We stepped inside as Mr. Solomon locked
- 9:02Speaker 1: the door behind him. I turn around as he pulls
- 9:05Speaker 1: a gun out from under his jacket. You should have
- 9:07Speaker 1: paid attention in class.
- 9:09Speaker 2: No, wait!
- 9:11Speaker 1: Also, it turns out that most of you guys who
- 9:13Speaker 1: watch me aren't actually subscribed. So if you like the
- 9:17Speaker 1: content and want to support the channel, go ahead and
- 9:19Speaker 1: hit the bell. It's free and you can always change
- 9:22Speaker 1: your mind later.
- 9:26Speaker 3: It was my sophomore year of college. I woke up
- 9:30Speaker 3: to get ready for my first period class. I glanced
- 9:34Speaker 3: outside my window. There was a dense layer of fog
- 9:39Speaker 3: and I could barely see 20 feet in front of me.
- 9:44Speaker 3: Something caught my attention in the corner of my eye.
- 9:49Speaker 3: At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.
- 9:53Speaker 3: A strange man was standing in the grass outside my dorm.
- 9:58Speaker 3: He was wearing a black trench coat and had a
- 10:02Speaker 3: wide-brimmed hat. It was too foggy to make out any
- 10:07Speaker 3: facial features of the man. I thought it was strange
- 10:11Speaker 3: because he was just standing there, staring in my direction.
- 10:17Speaker 3: He didn't move. My fight-or-flight reflex kicked in. I shut
- 10:24Speaker 3: the blinds and locked my door. My roommate Jake didn't
- 10:28Speaker 3: have class until later in the morning, so he was
- 10:32Speaker 3: still sleeping. I heard him rustling around in bed, and
- 10:37Speaker 3: I assumed I must have woken him up. I tapped
- 10:41Speaker 3: him on the shoulder to get his attention. He was
- 10:45Speaker 3: less than happy that I disturbed him from his sleep.
- 10:49Speaker 3: I told him about the strange man I saw. He
- 10:53Speaker 3: pulled his sheets off from over him, stood up, and
- 10:57Speaker 3: opened the blinds. We both looked outside the window. Jake said,
- 11:02Speaker 3: it was probably just a business major dressed up for class.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I told him, first of all, none of the business
- 11:11Speaker 3: majors wear trench coats. Second of all, I've never seen
- 11:15Speaker 3: a student wearing a black wide-brimmed hat before. Jake jokingly said,
- 11:21Speaker 3: maybe you saw someone from the Matrix. I wasn't amused
- 11:26Speaker 3: by my roommate's humor this particular morning. I decided to
- 11:31Speaker 3: just skip my first period class. I tried to get
- 11:35Speaker 3: more sleep, but I couldn't. The strange man kept coming
- 11:40Speaker 3: to my mind. I thought, why the hell was this
- 11:44Speaker 3: guy just standing right outside my dorm? Why was he
- 11:49Speaker 3: looking in my direction? And why was he dressed so weird?
- 11:56Speaker 3: I decided to just wait for Jake to go to class.
- 11:59Speaker 3: That way I could walk with him to campus. He
- 12:02Speaker 3: noticed that I was waiting for him and poked fun
- 12:05Speaker 3: of me. He said, Do you need me to hold
- 12:08Speaker 3: your hand too, honey? I played it off that I
- 12:12Speaker 3: just overslept and that the strange guy didn't phase me.
- 12:17Speaker 3: Deep down, I was still creeped out and didn't even
- 12:22Speaker 3: want to leave my dorm. Jake picked up his school
- 12:26Speaker 3: bag and we headed out the door. Once we got
- 12:29Speaker 3: outside I noticed the fog didn't improve one bit. We
- 12:34Speaker 3: started our walk towards campus. In order to get to
- 12:38Speaker 3: the main buildings from my dorm you had to travel
- 12:41Speaker 3: through a long tunnel underneath a road. As we got
- 12:45Speaker 3: closer to the tunnel a bad feeling started to come
- 12:50Speaker 3: over me. It was like a bad omen of what
- 12:54Speaker 3: was to come. Finally, we made it to the tunnel.
- 12:58Speaker 3: You couldn't see past the end of the tunnel due
- 13:01Speaker 3: to the wall of fog. After getting about halfway through
- 13:06Speaker 3: the tunnel, we noticed some movement at the far end.
- 13:11Speaker 3: My roommate jokingly said, wouldn't it be funny if this
- 13:14Speaker 3: was Mr. Trenchcoat? I stayed silent. My heart rate started
- 13:20Speaker 3: to increase. I really hoped this was just another student.
- 13:26Speaker 3: The figure becomes more clear now. The wide-brimmed hat was
- 13:32Speaker 3: the first thing to become visible through the dense fog.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Jake and I abruptly stopped. I looked at Jake. He
- 13:41Speaker 3: had a nervous look across his face. Jake was normally Mr.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Tough Guy and I've never seen him look this scared.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Jake yelled, who's there? The figure edged closer. Now we
- 13:59Speaker 3: could see his black trench coat, but still couldn't make
- 14:03Speaker 3: out his face. It was the exact same guy I
- 14:07Speaker 3: saw earlier. There was about 20 feet separating us from
- 14:12Speaker 3: the creepy guy at the end of the tunnel. Jake
- 14:17Speaker 3: yelled again. Who's there? The guy didn't say a word.
- 14:21Speaker 3: There was complete silence. I looked at Jake, waiting for
- 14:26Speaker 3: him to do something. He was completely frozen. The sound
- 14:33Speaker 3: of an alarm jolted Jake and I. The sound came
- 14:37Speaker 3: from an emergency pole at the beginning of the tunnel.
- 14:41Speaker 3: These poles were used in lockdowns, or could be activated
- 14:46Speaker 3: by students if they felt unsafe. I had never seen
- 14:50Speaker 3: one go off before. The alarm was followed by a
- 14:55Speaker 3: robotic voice. The strange man started to inch forward. Jack
- 15:02Speaker 3: and I were both frozen in terror. I noticed something
- 15:07Speaker 3: shiny in the man's hands. It was a large butcher's knife.
- 15:13Speaker 3: I punched Jake, trying to knock him out of his trance,
- 15:16Speaker 3: and yelled, RUN! We darted backwards through the tunnel and
- 15:21Speaker 3: back to our dorm. We locked the door and wedged
- 15:26Speaker 3: our desks against the handle. Jake said, What the hell
- 15:31Speaker 3: was that? The blinds were closed in my room, but
- 15:35Speaker 3: I couldn't curb my curiosity. I barely moved the blinds
- 15:40Speaker 3: to peek out of the top corner There he was.
- 15:45Speaker 3: The man in the trench coat was looking right at me.
- 15:51Speaker 3: I turned my head and motioned Jake to come over.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I looked outside again and the man was gone. Other
- 16:01Speaker 3: students had reported this man and that was the reason
- 16:05Speaker 3: for the lockdown. I never saw him again and pray
- 16:10Speaker 3: to God I never will. I will never know if
- 16:15Speaker 3: this was just a sick prank or a depraved man
- 16:20Speaker 3: who actually wanted to harm people. It was my last
- 16:28Speaker 3: day being a senior in high school. The year was 2016.
- 16:32Speaker 3: The creepy clown phenomenon was in full swing. Creepy clowns
- 16:41Speaker 3: seemed to be popping up all over the world. Most
- 16:45Speaker 3: clown cases were harmless and just pranks. I was looking
- 16:51Speaker 3: forward to signing yearbooks and saying my goodbyes to close friends.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Who knew that my day was about to change in
- 17:00Speaker 3: a way I could never imagine? Word got around that
- 17:06Speaker 3: two seniors, Trevor and Noah, were planning a prank. They
- 17:11Speaker 3: were the class clowns of our class, no pun intended.
- 17:16Speaker 3: I received word that they were going to dress up
- 17:19Speaker 3: as killer clowns and terrorize the teachers. I instantly thought
- 17:25Speaker 3: it was a bad idea, but I wasn't against some
- 17:28Speaker 3: good entertainment. I tried to find more information about the prank,
- 17:34Speaker 3: But the only thing that kept coming up was fourth
- 17:37Speaker 3: period lunch. I assumed that's when the shenanigans would start.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Fourth period of lunch started. There was no sign of clowns. Finally,
- 17:49Speaker 3: I saw a clown. He was just outside the main
- 17:53Speaker 3: cafeteria doors, hiding behind a statue of our school mascot.
- 17:58Speaker 3: His appearance was so creepy. I was really impressed. I
- 18:06Speaker 3: didn't really think Trevor or Noah would be that creative.
- 18:10Speaker 3: One by one, students began to notice the clown. Most
- 18:15Speaker 3: of the guys thought it was amusing. Some girls, however,
- 18:19Speaker 3: were fearful and started crying. I looked out one of
- 18:23Speaker 3: the side windows and saw another clown. This had to
- 18:28Speaker 3: be it, I thought. There they are, Trevor and Noah.
- 18:32Speaker 3: It was right then that I saw two more clowns.
- 18:36Speaker 3: They were hiding behind support poles in front of the cafeteria.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I thought this was weird, but I just assumed more
- 18:45Speaker 3: people had to be in on the prank. All of
- 18:49Speaker 3: a sudden, the power went out. I thought, classic Trevor
- 18:54Speaker 3: and Noah, always taking things too far. The school's PA
- 18:59Speaker 3: system came on over the loudspeaker. Code black. Follow full
- 19:03Speaker 3: lockdown procedures. Repeat. Code black. I wondered if I should
- 19:08Speaker 3: tell one of the teachers about the prank. I thought
- 19:12Speaker 3: this was getting out of hand and was going too far.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Right then, the back door to the cafeteria busted open.
- 19:21Speaker 3: It was Trevor and Noah. They were in their normal
- 19:25Speaker 3: school clothes. They both had a ghostly white look across
- 19:30Speaker 3: their face. Both were also drenched in sweat. Noah screamed,
- 19:38Speaker 3: Killer clowns! They're everywhere! Half the cafeteria was dead silent.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Another half laughed and thought this was a complete joke.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Trevor said, This is not a joke. Clowns chased us
- 19:54Speaker 3: with real knives. I glanced outside again. There were two
- 20:00Speaker 3: clowns at the main cafeteria doors. Both were wielding knives.
- 20:06Speaker 3: They slowly dragged their knives away. I crossed the glass.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Based on the loud screeching sound the knives made, I
- 20:16Speaker 3: had no doubt they were real. I looked at both
- 20:20Speaker 3: side exits and clowns were there as well. There was
- 20:25Speaker 3: no way out. I started to get nervous. Everyone was
- 20:30Speaker 3: in disbelief as to what was happening. The door that
- 20:34Speaker 3: Noah and Trevor ran through swung open again. I thought
- 20:39Speaker 3: to myself, what idiots for not locking the door behind them.
- 20:44Speaker 3: It was a creepy clown. His outfit and face paint
- 20:49Speaker 3: was exactly like Pennywise from the movie It. He went
- 20:54Speaker 3: over to a table full of girls and pulled a
- 20:58Speaker 3: huge knife from his waistband. He began laughing in a
- 21:03Speaker 3: high-pitched voice, almost as if he was crazed. I heard
- 21:08Speaker 3: a loud rumbling noise. A huge SWAT emergency response vehicle
- 21:15Speaker 3: pulled up right in front of the cafeteria. The creepy
- 21:19Speaker 3: clown in the cafeteria dropped his knife and ran. The
- 21:23Speaker 3: other clowns bolted as well. Only one clown ended up
- 21:28Speaker 3: getting arrested, and it was a senior from a rival
- 21:32Speaker 3: high school. I hope no one's last day of high
- 21:36Speaker 3: school is as creepy as mine was. I was only
- 21:45Speaker 3: in first grade, but my memory of that day is
- 21:49Speaker 3: still crystal clear. My class had just finished lunch and
- 21:55Speaker 3: we went outside for recess. Our school had a massive playhouse.
- 22:01Speaker 3: I was very rebellious at the time and I hated
- 22:04Speaker 3: when recess ended. When the teacher called all the students inside,
- 22:10Speaker 3: I tried to see how long I could hide in
- 22:12Speaker 3: the playhouse for. Eventually, I heard nothing but silence. I
- 22:18Speaker 3: thought there was no way my teacher didn't notice me missing.
- 22:22Speaker 3: I stood up and looked around. Sure enough, there was
- 22:28Speaker 3: no one in sight. It felt Awesome being alone without
- 22:32Speaker 3: any adult supervision? After a few minutes by myself, I
- 22:38Speaker 3: thought I should go inside. I was worried the longer
- 22:42Speaker 3: I stayed outside, the harder it would be to explain
- 22:46Speaker 3: myself to my teacher. Right when I was about to
- 22:50Speaker 3: jump off the playhouse, alarms started to go off. Startled,
- 22:56Speaker 3: I hid inside the playhouse. I was too young to
- 23:00Speaker 3: know what a lockdown was, but I knew something wasn't right.
- 23:06Speaker 3: I stood up again and looked around. I made eye
- 23:10Speaker 3: contact with a guy right outside the playground's fence. He
- 23:15Speaker 3: was wearing all black. He started to try and scale
- 23:20Speaker 3: the fence. That's when I noticed he had a gun.
- 23:25Speaker 3: My fight or flight response kicked in. My instincts told
- 23:29Speaker 3: me to run. I jumped off the playhouse and ran
- 23:33Speaker 3: towards the exterior door. I tried to pull on the handle,
- 23:38Speaker 3: but it was locked. I heard a thud behind me.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I looked over my shoulder. The creepy man had just
- 23:47Speaker 3: landed on my side of the fence and was headed
- 23:50Speaker 3: in my direction. I began screaming. I started to kick
- 23:56Speaker 3: in and punch the door out of desperation. Finally, a
- 24:01Speaker 3: teacher opened the door and yanked me inside. I noticed
- 24:05Speaker 3: the teacher who pulled me in was Mrs. Jones. I
- 24:10Speaker 3: was in her class the previous year. She led me
- 24:14Speaker 3: to a classroom full of students and told me to
- 24:18Speaker 3: crouch down behind a desk. I heard someone banging on
- 24:23Speaker 3: the exterior door. I thought this had to be the
- 24:26Speaker 3: guy with the gun. The banging stopped for a brief second.
- 24:33Speaker 3: I then heard the sound of a body slamming into
- 24:36Speaker 3: the door. A few seconds of silence, then another slam.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I waited, expecting to hear a third slam. It didn't come.
- 24:49Speaker 3: About 20 seconds went by, then I heard a loud boom.
- 24:55Speaker 3: The guy must have hit the door running at full speed.
- 25:00Speaker 3: I heard the door swing open and hit the wall.
- 25:04Speaker 3: The intruder was in the school. He started banging on
- 25:08Speaker 3: our classroom door. With one kick, our door swung open. Mrs.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Jones stood in between us and the intruder. The man
- 25:19Speaker 3: pointed the gun at her head and yelled, Where is
- 25:22Speaker 3: that bitch? Mrs. Jones said, Sir, I don't know what
- 25:28Speaker 3: you're talking about, but if you could just... Before she
- 25:32Speaker 3: could finish her sentence, the man said, Where is Miss Julie?
- 25:39Speaker 3: I shuddered. Miss Julie was my teacher. Mrs. Jones was silent.
- 25:47Speaker 3: The man said, So that's how we're gonna play this, huh?
- 25:51Speaker 3: The man violently grabbed Mrs. Jones and... pulled her out
- 25:56Speaker 3: into the hallway. The last thing I saw was the
- 26:01Speaker 3: man forcing Mrs. Jones down the hallway towards Miss Julie's room.
- 26:07Speaker 3: We all sat in silence for what seemed like an eternity.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Then we heard a loud followed by another. I knew
- 26:21Speaker 3: right then that Miss Julie.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It was sophomore year of high school. Prom was about
- 26:31Speaker 2: two months away. I was pretty good at football, so
- 26:35Speaker 2: I guess you could say I was in the more
- 26:36Speaker 2: popular crowd. I never really forced relationships, and women usually
- 26:41Speaker 2: just came to me. I had heard from other people
- 26:44Speaker 2: that Sarah wanted to go to prom with me. Sarah
- 26:47Speaker 2: was in the same grade as me. She was such
- 26:49Speaker 2: a beautiful girl that even seniors wanted to date her.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I knew that Sarah had just gotten out of a
- 26:54Speaker 2: long relationship with another guy named Trent. He was a
- 26:58Speaker 2: freshman at our high school and was a little off
- 27:00Speaker 2: in a way that's hard to describe. There was gossip
- 27:03Speaker 2: in our school that there was something mentally wrong with him.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Because of the recent breakup between Sarah and Trent, I
- 27:10Speaker 2: didn't really want to ask her to prom. All of
- 27:12Speaker 2: Sarah's friends badgered me relentlessly to go to prom with her.
- 27:16Speaker 2: They assured me everything would be fine. Even my guy
- 27:19Speaker 2: friends told me I needed to grow a pair and
- 27:21Speaker 2: ask her to prom. Finally, one afternoon, I intercepted Sarah
- 27:26Speaker 2: in the parking lot and asked her to prom. She
- 27:28Speaker 2: was delighted, and I went home feeling like I was
- 27:30Speaker 2: on top of the world. My feeling of euphoria faded
- 27:34Speaker 2: when I opened a Snapchat notification on my phone. It
- 27:37Speaker 2: was Trent. He was trying to add me on Snapchat.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I thought I couldn't just ignore him, so I added
- 27:43Speaker 2: him back. Immediately, I received a Snapchat message from him.
- 27:48Speaker 2: It read, So, I heard you asked my girlfriend Sarah
- 27:51Speaker 2: to prom. I quickly replied, you guys broke up a
- 27:55Speaker 2: month ago. He didn't respond back to me. I dreaded
- 27:58Speaker 2: running into Trent the next day at school. I just
- 28:00Speaker 2: felt so bad for Trent. I started to think that
- 28:03Speaker 2: it wasn't even worth going to prom with Sarah over
- 28:05Speaker 2: this nonsense. The next day at school, I didn't see
- 28:09Speaker 2: Trent anywhere. I usually passed him on the way to
- 28:11Speaker 2: a few of my classes. I thought it was odd
- 28:14Speaker 2: not seeing him. I asked around and found out that
- 28:17Speaker 2: he never made it to school. I was relieved that
- 28:20Speaker 2: there was no chance of running into him. My relief
- 28:22Speaker 2: was crushed by a Snapchat notification. It was Trent. This time,
- 28:27Speaker 2: he sent me a video. I didn't even want to
- 28:29Speaker 2: watch it. I tried to think of what the video
- 28:32Speaker 2: could be, but nothing came to my mind. An hour
- 28:35Speaker 2: went by, and I finally decided to watch it. The
- 28:38Speaker 2: video was of a shooting range. Trent was recording in one,
- 28:41Speaker 2: and had a pistol in the other. The caption said,
- 28:44Speaker 2: This is you. He proceeded to fire multiple shots into
- 28:47Speaker 2: a target about 20 feet in front of him. I
- 28:50Speaker 2: was shocked. I thought I was in a movie, and
- 28:53Speaker 2: that this couldn't be real. I told my friends what
- 28:56Speaker 2: I had witnessed, and eventually word got around to the
- 28:58Speaker 2: whole school. I was called down to the dean's office.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Multiple teachers and faculty were there. I told them everything
- 29:05Speaker 2: I had seen. After telling them my story, my phone
- 29:08Speaker 2: buzzed in my pocket. I thought to myself, oh no,
- 29:12Speaker 2: here we go again. I pulled my phone out. It
- 29:15Speaker 2: was Trent again. I told everyone in the room that
- 29:17Speaker 2: Trent sent me another Snapchat video. They all gathered around
- 29:21Speaker 2: in anticipation. I opened it. The video was of a crematorium.
- 29:26Speaker 2: The footage showed a body on a conveyor belt on
- 29:28Speaker 2: its way to an incinerator. The caption said, This is you.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Everyone in the room, including myself, were horrified. Immediately, the
- 29:37Speaker 2: principal put the whole school on lockdown and called the police.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Trent was later arrested by the police. Trent was never
- 29:44Speaker 2: charged with anything, but our high school expelled him. I
- 29:47Speaker 2: figured out that Trent's grandparents actually owned a crematorium, and
- 29:50Speaker 2: that's where the footage came from. I still ended up
- 29:53Speaker 2: taking Sarah to prom. She was just too beautiful to
- 29:56Speaker 2: pass up. I never did receive another Snapchat from Trent.
- 29:59Speaker 2: and I hope I never do. The year was 2011.
- 30:05Speaker 2: I was in 8th grade at the time. My homeroom
- 30:08Speaker 2: class had just finished lunch and we were on our
- 30:10Speaker 2: way to 6th period math class. The cafeteria and the
- 30:13Speaker 2: main school building were separated, so we always had our
- 30:16Speaker 2: homeroom teacher walk with us after lunch. We had to
- 30:19Speaker 2: walk about a quarter mile outside to the main school building.
- 30:23Speaker 2: As we were walking, I noticed our teacher received a
- 30:25Speaker 2: call on his cell phone. It was a very brief call.
- 30:29Speaker 2: After the call, I noticed that all the blood rushed
- 30:32Speaker 2: away from his face. He told us in a frantic
- 30:35Speaker 2: voice that something serious is happening and we need to
- 30:38Speaker 2: hurry to a classroom. He started to jog with all
- 30:41Speaker 2: of us in quick pursuit. Our homeroom teacher was usually
- 30:45Speaker 2: a pretty laid-back guy, so I knew something wasn't right.
- 30:48Speaker 2: He led us to an empty classroom that I had
- 30:50Speaker 2: never been in before. He told all of us to
- 30:52Speaker 2: get low and hide beneath the desks. He proceeded to
- 30:55Speaker 2: cover up the windows, lock the doors, and turn off
- 30:58Speaker 2: the lights. I crouched under one of the desks in
- 31:01Speaker 2: the back of the room. A kid named Michael sat
- 31:03Speaker 2: down next to me. I thought to myself, come on,
- 31:07Speaker 2: anybody but Michael. Michael was a strange kid. He was
- 31:11Speaker 2: really shy, and no one really talked to him. He
- 31:14Speaker 2: also smelled like rotten eggs, which didn't help. A lot
- 31:17Speaker 2: of my classmates made fun of him. My friends often
- 31:20Speaker 2: joked around that Michael would be the one to shoot
- 31:22Speaker 2: up our school. I was always kind to Michael, but
- 31:25Speaker 2: I never went out of my way to talk to him.
- 31:28Speaker 2: After a few minutes sitting next to Michael, I wanted
- 31:30Speaker 2: to gag. The smell was so horrid. I looked around,
- 31:35Speaker 2: trying to find any open space to scoot over to.
- 31:37Speaker 2: It was at that moment Michael whispered to me, Hey,
- 31:41Speaker 2: you don't have to sit next to me. I whispered back,
- 31:44Speaker 2: I was just looking for more room to spread out
- 31:46Speaker 2: my legs, that's all. He replied, I know you were
- 31:50Speaker 2: trying to get away from me. Nobody likes me. I
- 31:53Speaker 2: didn't respond. He continued to whisper, but don't worry. You've
- 31:57Speaker 2: always been kind to me. You're not on the list.
- 32:00Speaker 2: I shuddered in fear.
- 32:02Speaker 1: The list?
- 32:03Speaker 2: What did he mean by the list? I asked Michael
- 32:06Speaker 2: if he had anything to do with this. He just
- 32:08Speaker 2: shrugged and smiled at me. Michael was sitting with his
- 32:12Speaker 2: legs fully extended, with his hands pressed against the floor
- 32:14Speaker 2: behind his back. He moved his legs inward, probably to
- 32:17Speaker 2: get more comfortable. It was at that moment I saw
- 32:20Speaker 2: the butt of a gun slide outwards from his pants pocket.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Michael quickly caught the gun and pushed it back in.
- 32:26Speaker 2: He looked around to see if anyone noticed. I quickly
- 32:29Speaker 2: glanced away and pretended I didn't see anything. My heart
- 32:33Speaker 2: was racing. I didn't know what to do. I thought
- 32:35Speaker 2: of tackling Michael or even texting for help on my phone.
- 32:39Speaker 2: I also wondered if there were more people other than
- 32:41Speaker 2: Michael involved. The answer to my question was answered. I
- 32:45Speaker 2: heard the sound of an exterior door into the school
- 32:47Speaker 2: being forced open. Footsteps started charging down the hallway. It
- 32:51Speaker 2: sounded like multiple people. My heart dropped. I thought these
- 32:55Speaker 2: had to be the other students involved in the plot.
- 32:58Speaker 2: The footsteps were getting closer. They stopped right outside our door.
- 33:01Speaker 2: They tried turning the knob every which way. I thought,
- 33:05Speaker 2: this is it. The end of my short life. The
- 33:09Speaker 2: door was kicked open and the full SWAT team rushed in.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I looked at Michael and he had a surprised look
- 33:14Speaker 2: on his face. As if this wasn't what he was expecting.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Long story short, a student had made a threat to
- 33:20Speaker 2: the school. The authorities found out it was Michael. by
- 33:23Speaker 2: tracing an email he sent to one of our teachers.
- 33:25Speaker 2: The email talked about a plot to shoot up the school.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Michael went to a juvenile detention center, and I have
- 33:31Speaker 2: no idea what happened to him. Our principal told everyone
- 33:34Speaker 2: that Michael had a fake gun on him. I thought
- 33:36Speaker 2: there was no way it was fake. I believe the
- 33:38Speaker 2: principal knew the truth, but didn't want the public to know.
- 33:41Speaker 2: To this day, I still wonder if there were more
- 33:44Speaker 2: students involved in the plot. I guess I'll never know.
- 33:50Speaker 2: It was the middle of third period math. I had
- 33:53Speaker 2: just finished my test. I was done before anyone else,
- 33:56Speaker 2: so I decided to use the restroom. The bathroom was
- 33:59Speaker 2: right across the hall, but it was closed for repairs.
- 34:02Speaker 2: The next closest bathroom was on the second floor. On
- 34:05Speaker 2: my way there, the bell rang. I thought that was odd,
- 34:08Speaker 2: because there was still about 20 minutes of class left.
- 34:11Speaker 2: The bell never rang in the middle of class like this.
- 34:14Speaker 2: After the bell rang, an announcement came on over the
- 34:16Speaker 2: PA system. We are entering lockdown. This is not a drill.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Please follow all procedures. My heart nearly stopped. I froze
- 34:26Speaker 2: and I didn't know what to do. I could hear
- 34:28Speaker 2: the faint sound of sirens in the background. I knew
- 34:31Speaker 2: that going back to my classroom wasn't an option because
- 34:34Speaker 2: the doors would be locked. I decided to continue to
- 34:37Speaker 2: the second floor bathroom. I arrived at the bathroom but
- 34:40Speaker 2: I realized the main door didn't have a lock. I
- 34:43Speaker 2: left and ran further down the hall. I could see
- 34:45Speaker 2: the classrooms turning off their lights and covering their windows.
- 34:49Speaker 2: At the end of the hallway, I turned the corner
- 34:51Speaker 2: and saw a janitor's closet. Now, the sirens were much louder.
- 34:55Speaker 2: I decided the janitor's closet was my only option. I
- 34:59Speaker 2: pulled the handle and sighed in relief as it was unlocked.
- 35:02Speaker 2: I closed the door behind me and made sure it
- 35:04Speaker 2: was locked. I turned the lights off and crouched down
- 35:07Speaker 2: in the far corner of the room. The only light
- 35:09Speaker 2: I could see was from the bottom of the door.
- 35:11Speaker 2: The sirens were loud now and seemed to be right
- 35:14Speaker 2: outside the school. Suddenly, the sirens turned off. I heard footsteps.
- 35:20Speaker 2: A lot of footsteps. The footsteps led up the stairs
- 35:24Speaker 2: and stopped in the hallway right outside my hiding spot.
- 35:27Speaker 2: I heard the sound of radio chatter and figured these
- 35:29Speaker 2: had to be police officers. One guy in particular sounded
- 35:33Speaker 2: like he was in charge. He said, okay, are we
- 35:36Speaker 2: in position? Another guy responded, yes sir, the suspect is
- 35:40Speaker 2: here in the building. C team is in position on
- 35:43Speaker 2: the other side of campus as instructed and B team
- 35:45Speaker 2: is covering all the exterior exits. There's no way he'll
- 35:48Speaker 2: be able to escape this building. The guy in charge said, good,
- 35:52Speaker 2: he must not escape. It's my fault he's here and
- 35:55Speaker 2: it's my duty to deal with him. Over the next
- 35:58Speaker 2: couple minutes, I heard the muffled chatter of police officers
- 36:01Speaker 2: talking to each other. I thought maybe the situation died
- 36:04Speaker 2: down and I could leave the closet and go back
- 36:06Speaker 2: to class. That's when it all happened. I heard one
- 36:10Speaker 2: of the officers yell, don't move and put your hands
- 36:12Speaker 2: in the air. A moment later, I heard what sounded
- 36:15Speaker 2: like guns being drawn. About 10 seconds of silence went
- 36:18Speaker 2: by and then I heard a loud scream that came
- 36:21Speaker 2: from the end of the hallway. It wasn't a normal scream.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I had never heard anything like it before and hoped
- 36:26Speaker 2: to never hear that sound again. I pressed my ear
- 36:29Speaker 2: against the closet door and heard a distant whimpering sound.
- 36:32Speaker 2: It was the sound of a crying man. I then
- 36:35Speaker 2: heard him say, Please, don't take me back there. I
- 36:38Speaker 2: don't want to go back. You guys won't get away
- 36:39Speaker 2: with this. What you guys are doing to us is
- 36:41Speaker 2: illegal and everyone will find out about it. The man
- 36:44Speaker 2: in charge said, No, no, Jim. You signed the contract.
- 36:48Speaker 2: That was the deal for your early prison release. You
- 36:51Speaker 2: need to come back to the facility and finish up
- 36:53Speaker 2: your treatments. I thought to myself. Deal for your prison release?
- 36:58Speaker 2: Finish up your treatments?
- 36:59Speaker 1: What the heck?
- 37:01Speaker 2: I heard the footsteps leaving. They walked past my hiding spot.
- 37:04Speaker 2: I cracked open the door just to check out what
- 37:06Speaker 2: was happening. I saw the backs of five men. The
- 37:09Speaker 2: two men in the middle were carrying a man in
- 37:11Speaker 2: a hospital gown. I assumed that was Jim. All five
- 37:15Speaker 2: men were wearing black suits. They certainly didn't look like
- 37:18Speaker 2: police officers. I peeked outside the window and saw five
- 37:21Speaker 2: blacked out SUVs. I ran back to my classroom and
- 37:25Speaker 2: told my classmates what I saw and heard. They thought
- 37:27Speaker 2: I was crazy. Our teacher told us that the lockdown
- 37:30Speaker 2: was just a false alarm and nothing had happened. When
- 37:33Speaker 2: I got home later that day, there was nothing about
- 37:35Speaker 2: it on the news. I have no idea what happened
- 37:38Speaker 2: or what I saw that day.
