• 0:49
Speaker 1: Hi Catherine, Hi Chelsea. Hello. I excuse my stuffiness. I
• 0:53
Speaker 1: sound like I have post nasal drip, which is what
• 0:55
  Speaker 1: I have.
• 0:55
Speaker 2: Damn I have happens? Yes, are you getting us our
• 0:58
Speaker 2: throat from it? That always does that time?
• 0:59
Speaker 1: No covering from something else I've had ongoing issues all year.
• 1:03
Speaker 1: I don't know what my problem is, but I uh
• 1:06
Speaker 1: now it's post nasal drip. So I sat last night,
• 1:09
Speaker 1: I got my eyebrows tattooed on.
• 1:11
Speaker 2: Oh oh so that was like a.
• 1:12
Speaker 1: Three hour excursion, and thank you. I yeah, I hopefully
• 1:17
Speaker 1: this will save me lots of time.
• 1:19
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 1:19
Speaker 3: And I feel like the best thing you can say
• 1:21
Speaker 3: is like, I didn't notice that.
• 1:23
Speaker 2: You got your eyebrows tattooed on. Yes, Like that's kind
• 1:26
Speaker 2: of where you want them to land.
• 1:27
  Speaker 4: Yeah.
• 1:27
Speaker 1: I think they just filled in the hot spots, yeah,
• 1:29
Speaker 1: or the not so hot spots right right. So it
• 1:31
Speaker 1: was a lot arduous process. I'm glad it's over. While
• 1:34
  Speaker 1: I was no, I mean, I guess it's slightly uncomfortable.
• 1:38
  Speaker 1: I wouldn't say I wouldn't categorize it as hurting. It's
• 1:41
Speaker 1: not like pleasant, sure, but it's not unbarrelable or something. Yeah.
• 1:47
  Speaker 4: Sure.
• 1:47
Speaker 1: But as I was lying there, she identified my post
• 1:49
Speaker 1: nasal drip because I kept when you're lying down, you're like,
• 1:53
Speaker 1: she is my constant thing. And she was like, oh,
• 1:55
Speaker 1: you have post nasal drip. And I was like, oh,
• 1:56
Speaker 1: you're right, I do have post nasal drip. That's what
• 1:58
  Speaker 1: I have.
• 2:00
Speaker 2: So a tattoo and a diagnosis.
• 2:01
Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, she said, it's you're my first tattoo. I
• 2:04
Speaker 1: didn't realize that your eyebrows are tattoos, Like can you
• 2:07
Speaker 1: get But that's exactly what it is.
• 2:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, the micro needling or micro no micro blading. My
• 2:11
Speaker 3: micro needling is a different.
• 2:12
Speaker 1: Thing, but micro blading is tattooing.
• 2:14
Speaker 3: I think so because I always see all these girls
• 2:17
Speaker 3: on TikTok being like, oh my micro blading that they
• 2:19
Speaker 3: said would disappear in a year, and it's five years
• 2:21
Speaker 3: later and it's still here sort of thing.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, I want it to last for five years. I
• 2:25
Speaker 1: don't want to have to rejuge this. I agreed anyway,
• 2:28
Speaker 1: So that was that was exciting. I had a fun
• 2:30
Speaker 1: weekend of shows. We have Portland and Seattle this weekend,
• 2:32
Speaker 1: which is so easy breezy because I stay on the
• 2:34
Speaker 1: same coast. I love that. And then I'm heading to
• 2:38
Speaker 1: you know, the East Coast summertime jams, Hiatus Poort, Cape
• 2:42
Speaker 1: Cod Melody, tent Nantucket. I'm going to bring Yaminika to Nantucket.
• 2:47
Speaker 1: So they introduced to a black woman there because the
• 2:50
Speaker 1: last time I was there, there were no black people
• 2:52
Speaker 1: will be their first one. So yeah, we need to
• 2:53
Speaker 1: bring some more black people to Nantucket.
• 2:55
Speaker 2: Perfect. I have a crazy story for you.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: Is it about the mayoral race in LA Thank god,
• 3:01
Speaker 1: thank god Spencer Pretz out of that.
• 3:04
Speaker 2: Thank God. I'm very glad about that. I will.
• 3:07
Speaker 3: I kind of like had forgotten that it was a
• 3:08
Speaker 3: primary and it was not going to be all of them.
• 3:10
Speaker 3: But I'm like, if I vote for Nitia, is that
• 3:14
Speaker 3: going to mean Spencer, It's going to be Spencer whatever,
• 3:16
Speaker 3: Like I didn't want to anyway, we knew we're gonna
• 3:19
Speaker 3: have Karen basson there.
• 3:20
Speaker 1: So I'm starting to understand that LA is just completely
• 3:23
Speaker 1: mismanaged from within. Like I think that anyone in a
• 3:28
Speaker 1: mayoral position in this city has a whole council board
• 3:31
Speaker 1: that they have to deal with, and it's not easy
• 3:34
Speaker 1: to get anything done in this city. So we need
• 3:36
Speaker 1: to change things from the inside out, Like something different
• 3:39
Speaker 1: has to happen in the way things are. There's too
• 3:41
Speaker 1: much bureaucracy. So it's it's it's really hard to be
• 3:44
Speaker 1: a successful mayor in this city.
• 3:46
Speaker 3: Right because you can't win right, Like you can't side
• 3:48
Speaker 3: with the people in power or like the police or
• 3:51
Speaker 3: anything like that. But you also need, like you need
• 3:53
Speaker 3: to make systemic change if you're going to make any
• 3:54
Speaker 3: change at all in the city.
• 3:56
Speaker 1: Like, yeah, it's well, I'm going to support I've been
• 4:00
Speaker 1: supporting her, and at least I don't know, you know,
• 4:03
Speaker 1: I just have to like have hope in the city
• 4:05
Speaker 1: that we could turn things around. I'm so grateful that
• 4:10
Speaker 1: Spencer Pratt is just no longer in involved in this.
• 4:13
Speaker 1: I don't want to hear that for another five months.
• 4:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, Nitya, like she's been in it, like since the beginning.
• 4:18
Speaker 3: She's from the ground up. She I forget what exactly happened,
• 4:22
Speaker 3: but when she was first running for like city council member,
• 4:26
Speaker 3: something happened where she was planning to campaign for like
• 4:28
Speaker 3: six months, and then it wound up like the vote
• 4:31
Speaker 3: got delayed or whatever, so she had to campaign for
• 4:33
Speaker 3: like two years or something, and then she finally got it.
• 4:36
Speaker 2: Like, you know, everybody has their flaws.
• 4:38
Speaker 3: But I think she's like actually somebody who's in it
• 4:40
Speaker 3: to make positive change wherever she can.
• 4:44
Speaker 1: So yeah, well they're not all I mean, yeah, they're
• 4:45
Speaker 1: all Like I had so many people saying, what about
• 4:48
Speaker 1: the dogs on skid Row what about the dogs on
• 4:49
Speaker 1: skid Row. I'm like, I'm sorry, are we voting for like,
• 4:52
Speaker 1: are we not voting for human beings here?
• 4:54
  Speaker 2: Right?
• 4:54
Speaker 1: Like that can't be the biggest problem in this city.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: The dogs on skid row. Yes, that's terrible. We all
• 5:00
Speaker 1: know that I love to rescue dogs, but that's not
• 5:03
Speaker 1: the number one issue here. There's people before the dogs
• 5:06
Speaker 1: that we have to be worried about. There's almost fifty.
• 5:09
Speaker 3: Square blocks of people on skid row, Like, it's enormous.
• 5:12
  Speaker 3: There's a lot of there's a lot of systemic changes,
• 5:14
Speaker 3: and she's very like pro figuring out what shoes and
• 5:19
Speaker 3: like providing services and.
• 5:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well okay, Yeah, that's what I liked about her,
• 5:25
Speaker 1: that it's we're down fifty four percent in her district.
• 5:28
Speaker 1: And I had people that live in her district that
• 5:29
Speaker 1: loved her also people that didn't love her, but whatever.
• 5:32
Speaker 5: Yeah we did. We were in our district when she
• 5:34
  Speaker 5: first came around.
• 5:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, she was in our district. We voted her from
• 5:37
Speaker 2: from the way beginning.
• 5:39
Speaker 5: I mean, look, politicians are problematic, but she's got degrees
• 5:42
Speaker 5: in political theory and urban planning from both Harvard and MIT.
• 5:46
Speaker 5: I mean, she's way more qualified than any of these
• 5:49
Speaker 5: other fucks that are around. And she's a woman and
• 5:52
  Speaker 5: we love that.
• 5:53
Speaker 1: And we have a very exciting guest today. You know
• 5:55
Speaker 1: her from SNL and just like that and the Scary
• 5:59
Speaker 1: Movie franchise, which I'm seeing everywhere. You can also catch
• 6:02
Speaker 1: her in Celebrity Autobiography in New York City from June
• 6:05
Speaker 1: twenty ninth through July sixth. Please welcome Cherio Terry. Okay,
• 6:10
Speaker 1: this is great. We have Cherio Terry is in the
• 6:12
Speaker 1: house and she's sitting in very close proximity to me
• 6:15
Speaker 1: because we're on a podcast, and that's what you do.
• 6:18
Speaker 1: Not like when we were at the Netflix brunch where
• 6:21
Speaker 1: I sat down very close to you to introduce myself
• 6:24
Speaker 1: because I don't think that we had ever met over
• 6:26
Speaker 1: the years, right, And I sat down and I said, Hey,
• 6:29
Speaker 1: I know you're coming on my podcast. And she said,
• 6:31
Speaker 1: I don't like doing interviews, and I wanted to know
• 6:34
Speaker 1: why you don't like doing interviews. It's not uncommon a
• 6:37
Speaker 1: lot of people feel this way.
• 6:39
Speaker 6: Listen, your podcast is popular, and it's kind of like
• 6:43
Speaker 6: you don't want to say anything that's going to.
• 6:45
Speaker 1: To get blown up and used as a headline. That's
• 6:49
Speaker 1: my specialty everything. That's when you're with me, you're safe
• 6:54
Speaker 1: because I'm the only one that gets in trouble constantly
• 6:57
Speaker 1: and creates headlines constantly. So you're just just look at
• 7:01
Speaker 1: this as like, at least the people are going to
• 7:04
Speaker 1: take my words and use them to make headlines. I
• 7:08
Speaker 1: admire your bulls, thank you so much, like my laby Is,
• 7:13
Speaker 1: Menora and Majora. Please include all of them. Okay, I
• 7:17
Speaker 1: don't discriminate. Well, I appreciate you saying that, but I'm
• 7:21
Speaker 1: a huge admirer of yours. I think you are one
• 7:25
Speaker 1: of the funniest people on the planet, and I love
• 7:27
Speaker 1: getting to see you in movies because once you left SNL,
• 7:31
Speaker 1: I'm like, how are we supposed to get our cherry oh,
• 7:33
Speaker 1: Terry fixed? I mean, you on that show is just
• 7:37
Speaker 1: first let's talk. First of all, let's talk about pickleball,
• 7:40
Speaker 1: because you're an avid pickleball I'm not avid. Well yeah,
• 7:44
  Speaker 1: it seems like.
• 7:45
Speaker 6: You are, no, but I do like it a lot.
• 7:48
Speaker 6: It's something everybody can do.
• 7:51
Speaker 1: That's the problem that I have with it is that
• 7:53
Speaker 1: everybody can do it, and so I don't think it's
• 7:56
Speaker 1: such a How do I want to say this. People
• 7:59
Speaker 1: think that when they're good at pick a ball, that
• 8:02
Speaker 1: means that they're athletic and not at all. Right, well
• 8:05
Speaker 1: that thank you, thank you for clarifying that.
• 8:07
Speaker 6: It's about looking athletic, not being athletic.
• 8:09
Speaker 1: Who introduced you to pick a ball? Oh?
• 8:12
Speaker 6: My cousin in New Jersey they have a pick a
• 8:14
Speaker 6: ball court and that's how I started playing.
• 8:16
Speaker 1: But didn't you find the rules absolutely so confusing, the
• 8:20
Speaker 1: kitchen and the system.
• 8:22
Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm just playing to hit the ball and to
• 8:26
Speaker 6: get it in where I'm supposed to get it in.
• 8:28
Speaker 6: You know, I'm not lazy, but yeah, I mean anybody
• 8:32
Speaker 6: can do it. And I'm thinking, what a healthy way
• 8:36
Speaker 6: to meet people, because I'd like to meet people.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: Are you trying to meet people? Sure? What kind of
• 8:45
Speaker 1: people would you like to meet? Friends? Lovers? What are
• 8:48
Speaker 1: you in the mood for? Is that a loaded question?
• 8:52
  Speaker 7: Oh?
• 8:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, this is where the interview park gets. Yes, yeah,
• 9:02
Speaker 1: I'm so good at this is But we're just talking
• 9:05
Speaker 1: about pickleball though, just because pickleball is a good place
• 9:09
  Speaker 1: to meet people.
• 9:10
Speaker 7: Football with a penis.
• 9:13
Speaker 1: When when people talk about pickleball, one of the first
• 9:16
Speaker 1: things that they typically say is that it's a great
• 9:18
Speaker 1: place to meet people, or it's a great way to
• 9:20
Speaker 1: meet people, and it's a great way to not over
• 9:23
Speaker 1: exert yourself while meeting people.
• 9:25
Speaker 6: Because I went to this court my friend invited me,
• 9:28
Speaker 6: and there were these guys were playing. My god, they
• 9:32
Speaker 6: were playing like bow, I mean so hard, and it's
• 9:36
Speaker 6: fun to watch. But it's not necessarily a spectator sport.
• 9:42
Speaker 6: But I'm playing, you know, with with other women and everything,
• 9:45
Speaker 6: and I'm just thinking, God, I'd love to just sit
• 9:47
Speaker 6: there and watch them play.
• 9:50
Speaker 1: They're it's so they're hitting the ball so hard. Do
• 9:53
Speaker 1: you like to watch tennis?
• 9:55
Speaker 6: I'll watch tennis. I'm not an avid tennis watcher. Oh
• 9:59
Speaker 6: I like watching basket ball. Well, if you like to
• 10:01
Speaker 6: see balls being hit hard.
• 10:03
Speaker 1: Tennis is a good curently, I do. Tennis is a
• 10:05
Speaker 1: good sport to watch. I love watching tennis.
• 10:08
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 10:09
Speaker 1: I went to the Desert Smash Indi in Indian wells.
• 10:12
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah yeah yeah, Palm Desert and played pick a ball,
• 10:17
Speaker 1: had a pickball clinic. Well hello, love dog and it
• 10:24
  Speaker 1: was fun.
• 10:25
Speaker 6: You know who was one of my instructors?
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: Do you remember?
• 10:29
Speaker 6: I remember from being a kid, remember Vince Van Patton.
• 10:33
Speaker 1: Vince Van Patten. I know that name.
• 10:35
Speaker 6: Is that a remember Dick Van Yes, yes, and he
• 10:38
  Speaker 6: had handsome sons.
• 10:39
Speaker 1: Oh it's his son.
• 10:41
Speaker 6: Yeah, and he's married to Eileen Davidson, who was on
• 10:46
  Speaker 6: Young and Restless?
• 10:47
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, hands were you a soap opera
• 10:50
Speaker 1: person Young and Restless? Okay, well, the first of all,
• 10:53
Speaker 1: you should know it's The Young and the Restless. I
• 10:54
  Speaker 1: can't even believe you're.
• 10:56
Speaker 7: Some of us abbreviated because we've been.
• 11:00
Speaker 1: I was into General Hospital in Santa Barbara. Those were
• 11:03
Speaker 1: my two and that was a conflict because they were
• 11:05
Speaker 1: both on at the same time.
• 11:06
Speaker 6: I would watch Santa Barbara sometimes because it was just
• 11:08
Speaker 6: left over from it was right after Young and Wrestlers.
• 11:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, because Young and the Restless went from one thirty
• 11:12
Speaker 1: to two thirty. It was a half hour break. Like sorry,
• 11:16
Speaker 1: it went from like a half hour to a half hour,
• 11:18
Speaker 1: whereas Santa Barbara was I think three to four or
• 11:21
Speaker 1: two to three. So you had to pick and choose
• 11:23
  Speaker 1: which Soaparbara.
• 11:23
Speaker 7: Is Robin right pen, Yeah, it was on was on there.
• 11:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, Robin Wright was. I was obsessed with Robin Wright
• 11:31
Speaker 1: because this was before the Princess bri Remember when she
• 11:34
Speaker 1: was so young and beautiful. She's still beautiful. She actually
• 11:40
Speaker 1: just stayed at my house in Majorca. She went there
• 11:41
Speaker 1: for her sixtieth bird.
• 11:43
Speaker 7: Last name pants, first name, fancy. We just bring up
• 11:46
Speaker 7: this birthday. Oh, she just stayed in my place in
• 11:48
  Speaker 7: Boma Gol.
• 11:49
Speaker 1: Of course she did. Yeah, she did. She call me
• 11:52
Speaker 1: out of nowhere. I hadn't heard from her in about
• 11:53
Speaker 1: two years, me either, and I was like, oh, why
• 11:57
Speaker 1: is Robin facetiming me? This is very strange. And she
• 12:00
Speaker 1: was with her new lover and they're madly in love
• 12:03
Speaker 1: and she's like, Chelsea, we want to spend my I
• 12:05
Speaker 1: want to spend my birthday with you. There's nobody I'd
• 12:07
Speaker 1: rather spend my birthday with. And I'm like, I when
• 12:10
Speaker 1: is your birthday? And she's like, oh, it's this And
• 12:12
Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm on tour and she's like, is your
• 12:14
Speaker 1: house in my Orca free? And I was like, oh,
• 12:18
Speaker 1: you want to spend your birthday with my house? I
• 12:20
Speaker 1: was like, no energy problem, that requires a lot less
• 12:23
Speaker 1: effort for me and an easy guy, like a very easy.
• 12:26
Speaker 7: Now did she meet him playing pickuball? I don't think so.
• 12:29
Speaker 1: She does play pickleball. I think I think Robin does
• 12:31
Speaker 1: play pickleball, but I don't know that they met playing pickleball.
• 12:33
Speaker 7: I love to know how people meet.
• 12:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, are you looking to meet someone? Are you looking
• 12:37
Speaker 1: to pick up a lover? Is that? Are you in
• 12:39
  Speaker 1: the market?
• 12:40
  Speaker 4: Yeah?
• 12:40
Speaker 6: You know what, Yes, But I'll tell you something.
• 12:44
Speaker 7: I I do alone so well.
• 12:47
Speaker 1: Well, I think most women thrive like we're.
• 12:51
Speaker 6: Some women have to be in a relationship. I never
• 12:54
Speaker 6: felt that way. Never, And so I think for because
• 12:59
Speaker 6: I do alone so well, to be with somebody, they've
• 13:03
Speaker 6: got to be, you know, somebody that's like there's chemistry.
• 13:07
  Speaker 7: I don't need a companion.
• 13:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, well no, of course not. And when we can't,
• 13:12
Speaker 1: you want to do you feel comfortable talking about your
• 13:14
Speaker 1: lat like have you had a long relationship? Did you
• 13:17
Speaker 1: like being in a long relationship or did you like,
• 13:19
Speaker 1: have you ever lived with someone? And did you like that?
• 13:22
  Speaker 7: It was easy?
• 13:23
Speaker 6: I will say it was easy, and you know, and
• 13:26
Speaker 6: during the pandemic, and we breathed through it because we
• 13:30
Speaker 6: both were into cooking and we ate, like I think
• 13:36
Speaker 6: we ordered out once or twice and so we cooked
• 13:40
Speaker 6: it and then we had our pot of people and
• 13:42
Speaker 6: we just cooked and it was it was it was great.
• 13:47
Speaker 6: And then I just realized that I had been single
• 13:50
Speaker 6: for so long that I thought I was being too judgmental,
• 13:56
Speaker 6: and I thought, not judgmental.
• 14:00
Speaker 7: They have to be this.
• 14:01
Speaker 6: This is it's really just chemistry.
• 14:04
Speaker 1: You know, I can I relate to what you're saying.
• 14:06
  Speaker 8: Though.
• 14:07
Speaker 7: You want to be attracted.
• 14:08
Speaker 6: You want to love their personality and they, you know,
• 14:14
Speaker 6: to have a great sense of humor. That's not easy
• 14:17
Speaker 6: to find, especially when you're not looking, and I don't
• 14:21
  Speaker 6: want to look.
• 14:23
Speaker 1: Let's get back to the cooking. What kinds of things
• 14:25
Speaker 1: can you cook? What's your signature dish?
• 14:28
  Speaker 7: Cedar plank salmon?
• 14:31
  Speaker 2: That's up?
• 14:33
  Speaker 7: Back up?
• 14:34
Speaker 1: What kind of cedar plank are you working with?
• 14:37
Speaker 6: You just buy cedar planks and you soak them for
• 14:40
Speaker 6: like I'll soak them for overnight.
• 14:43
Speaker 1: On the cedar plank. You soak it on the plank.
• 14:45
Speaker 7: O you just soak the planks.
• 14:47
Speaker 1: What is a plank.
• 14:48
  Speaker 7: It's a cedar plank.
• 14:49
Speaker 6: It is all I know is the position you can
• 14:53
Speaker 6: you can order them on. What it does is it
• 14:55
Speaker 6: steams once it's completely soaked all the way through. You
• 15:00
Speaker 6: it on the hottest barbecue and it it cooks the
• 15:04
Speaker 6: fish through the cedar plank steak, and it just gives
• 15:07
Speaker 6: it a flavor. It's like the steak of seafood.
• 15:10
  Speaker 7: Oh, because I.
• 15:11
Speaker 6: Chop up fresh garlic and parsley from my garden and
• 15:15
Speaker 6: olive oil, you know, salt and pepper. It's it's really
• 15:19
Speaker 6: kind of easy. And then perfect timing of twenty minutes
• 15:24
  Speaker 6: on the grill.
• 15:25
Speaker 1: And you flip the salmon or you keep it on
• 15:27
Speaker 1: one side. You don't flip salmon. No, no, no, I'm
• 15:30
Speaker 1: a big salmon eater. So this is actually appealing to me,
• 15:32
Speaker 1: not that I have a cedar plank or that I
• 15:34
Speaker 1: will ever learn how to use it. Someone else will
• 15:36
Speaker 1: do that for me, because, let me.
• 15:37
Speaker 7: Tell you, so, I have to be you do learn how.
• 15:40
Speaker 1: To do it. You need a barbecue, right, you don't
• 15:42
Speaker 1: have barb I'm saving up for one. I think I
• 15:47
Speaker 1: do have a barbecue outside. There's always another sale coming
• 15:52
Speaker 1: around the corner. I'll wait until Labor Days, sister. That's
• 15:56
Speaker 1: how I came barbecue. No, I think I do have
• 15:58
  Speaker 1: a barbecue outside. But I'm listen. I'm a little bit
• 16:01
Speaker 1: like I think I have one.
• 16:02
  Speaker 7: In my York.
• 16:03
  Speaker 6: I know you.
• 16:05
Speaker 7: The new dog was standing on top of it the
• 16:06
  Speaker 7: other day.
• 16:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, I got this new rescue who you just met,
• 16:10
Speaker 1: and he was standing on top of things. He doesn't
• 16:12
Speaker 1: I don't think he can judge height. So he was
• 16:15
Speaker 1: standing on top of the barbecue and it's like six
• 16:16
Speaker 1: feet off the ground. I'm like, do not jump because
• 16:18
Speaker 1: he is not spry like dog. He's got a little
• 16:21
Speaker 1: it looks like he's been in a couple of.
• 16:22
Speaker 7: Bars nowhere with his background.
• 16:25
Speaker 1: Right, they said if they found him in a field,
• 16:27
Speaker 1: and my sister goes, what can they be more specific?
• 16:30
Speaker 1: Baker's field like a field of what the field of dreams?
• 16:33
Speaker 1: She's like, what field did they find him in? I'm like, okay,
• 16:36
  Speaker 1: that's a good question.
• 16:36
Speaker 2: Let me follow up.
• 16:37
Speaker 7: I love that you rescued though, Oh, of course.
• 16:39
Speaker 1: You have animals. Are you a cat? Are you a
• 16:42
Speaker 1: cat person? Though I thought you said that.
• 16:44
  Speaker 7: No.
• 16:44
  Speaker 6: Oh, I mean I've had a cat before. When I
• 16:47
Speaker 6: was on SNL, I had a cat. But and I
• 16:49
Speaker 6: love all animals, but I love dogs.
• 16:51
Speaker 8: It's I've got I've had Ricky and then Sweet Mama
• 16:57
Speaker 8: and I had them together, and when they passed, I
• 17:00
  Speaker 8: got adel Castro.
• 17:04
Speaker 6: And midel Castro or de Castro and dom Desmond and cute,
• 17:12
Speaker 6: but like I can't wait to get home to my daughter.
• 17:15
  Speaker 1: I know, it's there's nothing better. Last night I came
• 17:17
Speaker 1: home and I was like, I just couldn't wait to
• 17:19
Speaker 1: just be with them and hang out, like late nights
• 17:22
Speaker 1: is fun, you know, and they're getting to know each other,
• 17:24
Speaker 1: so it's pretty cute. Do you like to talk about SNL?
• 17:27
  Speaker 4: No?
• 17:27
Speaker 7: What am I talking about? SNL?
• 17:29
Speaker 1: Was it hard to How many years were you on SNL? Five? Okay?
• 17:33
Speaker 1: Was it hard to? It felt like longer than that.
• 17:35
Speaker 1: You were such a staple of that show and you
• 17:37
Speaker 1: and Will together, I mean so fine. Was it a
• 17:41
Speaker 1: hard adjustment to leave that show? No? No, were you?
• 17:45
Speaker 1: Were you ready to leave?
• 17:46
Speaker 6: I had a five year contract and I felt so
• 17:49
Speaker 6: good about the five years that I had done. And
• 17:54
Speaker 6: it is emotionally it's rough.
• 17:58
  Speaker 1: I've heard.
• 17:58
Speaker 6: I heard yes, And if you don't have tools in
• 18:02
Speaker 6: your toolbox, which I didn't even know I had to
• 18:05
Speaker 6: have a toolbox back then, you know, it's really hard.
• 18:10
Speaker 6: And so I kind of left just to take care
• 18:14
  Speaker 6: of myself.
• 18:15
Speaker 1: Yeah. I've heard that from so many people that have
• 18:17
Speaker 1: worked on that show, that it is a grind and
• 18:19
Speaker 1: that it is relentless.
• 18:20
Speaker 6: Well, it's like you're auditioning every week to get a
• 18:22
Speaker 6: show you already got, you know, truly, Yeah, and you're
• 18:26
Speaker 6: competing with writers who are supposed to be writing for you,
• 18:29
Speaker 6: you know, and you can't if they don't. Nobody has
• 18:33
Speaker 6: to write for you. So it's you writing for yourself.
• 18:36
Speaker 6: And luckily I had that background with the Groundlings. So
• 18:39
Speaker 6: it's you writing for yourself and hoping you have somebody
• 18:43
Speaker 6: to write with, and luckily I had, you know, Will
• 18:48
Speaker 6: and I wrote a lot together. Matt Petemont I wrote with.
• 18:51
Speaker 6: And it sucks when you feel like you're competing with
• 18:53
Speaker 6: the writers. I never felt like I was competing with
• 18:55
  Speaker 6: my fellow actors.
• 18:57
Speaker 1: It's not fun to be in a work environment. And
• 18:59
Speaker 1: I've heard that a lot about us and l And obviously,
• 19:01
Speaker 1: you know, this is a very revered show. People love it,
• 19:03
Speaker 1: and but like, it is a very hard environment when
• 19:06
Speaker 1: you're constantly in competition with the people you're at work with, like,
• 19:10
Speaker 1: and I know you could probably say that about a
• 19:11
Speaker 1: lot of jobs, but that's not a fun way for
• 19:14
Speaker 1: your psyche to exist. It's kind of like your in survival.
• 19:18
Speaker 6: Right always always, And it's so funny because the first
• 19:22
Speaker 6: time I ever did a sitcom, I was like, what
• 19:25
Speaker 6: is this kind of utopia?
• 19:28
  Speaker 7: Missu? Terry?
• 19:29
Speaker 6: What would you like in your eggs? I'm like, what's
• 19:30
Speaker 6: your angle? What's your angle? What do you mean?
• 19:35
Speaker 7: You're in a ten out of three? You're you know
• 19:38
Speaker 7: you're going to be written for. I was just like,
• 19:41
  Speaker 7: this is amazing.
• 19:44
Speaker 6: So anything after that is pretty yeah, you know, is
• 19:49
Speaker 6: pretty easy, like doing even a film and they say,
• 19:52
Speaker 6: all right, Cherry, you want to go again, and like
• 19:54
Speaker 6: it's like I could never go again.
• 19:56
  Speaker 1: I was.
• 19:57
Speaker 6: There was always you had to get it on one take. Yeah,
• 20:00
Speaker 6: you know, and it's a great way to train yourself.
• 20:04
Speaker 6: It's real discipline. But as hard as it was, I
• 20:08
Speaker 6: have to say, like I it was so amazing to
• 20:12
Speaker 6: be able to write whatever I imagined, anything I imagined,
• 20:17
Speaker 6: And you know, I almost feel like I did that
• 20:21
Speaker 6: all growing up. I was always watching and imitating people.
• 20:26
Speaker 6: I didn't do impressions, but I would glean from I would.
• 20:29
Speaker 6: I always felt like I was born without an identity,
• 20:32
Speaker 6: so I would observe other people so much. And yeah,
• 20:36
Speaker 6: I just grew up observing people.
• 20:39
Speaker 1: What number how many siblings do you have?
• 20:41
Speaker 7: Too? I was the middle.
• 20:42
Speaker 8: Okay, oh yeah, yeah.
• 20:48
Speaker 1: That's very interesting. I've never heard anyone describe being the
• 20:52
Speaker 1: middle of two children before. Wow. Oh oh, I thought
• 20:56
Speaker 1: you said too. I was the middle. There were two children.
• 21:00
Speaker 1: I'm looking at her like what I was like waiting
• 21:04
Speaker 1: for the ball to drop or the punchline. Okay, copy that.
• 21:08
Speaker 1: So there's three total.
• 21:09
Speaker 3: Oh god, oh hey, have you been thinking about writing
• 21:13
  Speaker 3: into Dear Chelsea.
• 21:14
Speaker 2: Well, now is the moment.
• 21:16
Speaker 3: We're taking advice questions on anything that pops up. It's
• 21:19
Speaker 3: wedding season. Are you having wedding drama? Write in about

• 21:25
Speaker 3: spouse about but you absolutely know you're right. Chelsea can
• 21:28
Speaker 3: tell you who's right and who's wrong. You can write
• 21:30
Speaker 3: in about a big life decision or just something small
• 21:33
  Speaker 3: dating drama.
• 21:35
  Speaker 2: Write into Dear.
• 21:36
Speaker 3: Chelsea podcast at gmail dot com.
• 21:42
Speaker 1: Are you a middle child? Do you fall into that? Like?
• 21:45
  Speaker 7: Yeah?
• 21:46
Speaker 1: Really in what ways?
• 21:47
Speaker 6: You know, it's kind of like, uh, we could have
• 21:51
Speaker 6: done without you. Ye had the first and you know
• 21:56
Speaker 6: my sister and then the boy, you know, my brother,
• 22:00
Speaker 6: and you know my sister was like this golden haired blonde, adorable,
• 22:05
Speaker 6: and you know, I came out with a mustache, and
• 22:08
Speaker 6: so it's like you better develop a sense of humor.
• 22:14
Speaker 7: Real quick, real quick.
• 22:16
Speaker 6: But when I was a kid, I would watch Young
• 22:18
Speaker 6: and Restless because I grew up around so much chaos,
• 22:22
Speaker 6: and I just was always amazed at how civilized people
• 22:26
Speaker 6: were on you know, so I would always imitate, and
• 22:33
Speaker 6: no one knew I was doing what I was doing.
• 22:35
Speaker 6: You know, I was doing my own kind of show,
• 22:39
Speaker 6: but no one. I just used anybody that was around
• 22:43
Speaker 6: as Like my mother would come home and I would
• 22:46
Speaker 6: have like clip on earrings and a scarf, and as
• 22:49
Speaker 6: she would walk in, and you know how in soap
• 22:52
Speaker 6: operas that it's here's the person, this person.
• 22:56
Speaker 7: They're both facing forward to the camera.
• 22:59
Speaker 6: And so I be in front of my mother and
• 23:03
Speaker 6: I was like, oh, mother, you startled me.
• 23:04
Speaker 7: I didn't hear you come in, And she go, who
• 23:10
Speaker 7: the fuck are you're talking to? I'm like cut.
• 23:17
Speaker 6: Reset and like she was gorgeous but had like the
• 23:24
Speaker 6: worst mouth, and she was rough.
• 23:26
Speaker 7: All the women were rough.
• 23:27
Speaker 1: In your family, Oh yeah, really like in an Italian way, in.
• 23:31
Speaker 7: What kind of way?
• 23:32
Speaker 6: And half Irish just rough, like no charm. It was doggy,
• 23:38
Speaker 6: dog really competitive, no not competitive, just survival.
• 23:44
Speaker 1: Survival, okay, you know.
• 23:45
Speaker 6: And I was so sensitive and you know, you grew
• 23:48
Speaker 6: up thinking there's something wrong with you, like why am I.
• 23:50
Speaker 7: Not tough like that? Uh huh, and hence not wanting
• 23:54
  Speaker 7: to do interviews.
• 23:57
Speaker 1: To talk about these very subjects. Yeah, did I read
• 24:01
  Speaker 1: that you're a life coach?
• 24:02
  Speaker 7: No, gosh no.
• 24:04
Speaker 6: I played a life coach for AMC. It was like
• 24:07
Speaker 6: a digital thing that I did years ago, and I thought,
• 24:11
  Speaker 6: you know what, while I'm waiting, I'll I'll do a
• 24:15
Speaker 6: online course. I thought, you know, maybe it'll help me
• 24:18
Speaker 6: in the you know, back end of it, help myself,
• 24:21
Speaker 6: you know, people become therapists to maybe help themselves, and said,
• 24:25
  Speaker 6: so I.
• 24:26
Speaker 7: Did, and it didn't help. I wanted to get the
• 24:31
  Speaker 7: verbbage down.
• 24:31
Speaker 6: In all of the you know what, the nomenclature of
• 24:35
  Speaker 6: the life coach.
• 24:37
Speaker 1: What do you think about life coaches in general? Like
• 24:40
  Speaker 1: people who are.
• 24:41
Speaker 7: Personal cheerleaders to me?
• 24:44
Speaker 6: You know, And it's like I said, this as a
• 24:47
Speaker 6: why pay so much money and deal with the past
• 24:49
Speaker 6: when it's a lot cheaper and it's about today and
• 24:52
Speaker 6: moving forward, right, which that sounds good, you know, but yeah,
• 24:59
Speaker 6: I really I think they organize your brain. I thought
• 25:02
Speaker 6: there was some legitimacy to it after I, you know,
• 25:05
Speaker 6: took the classes. Okay, I can see where this is helpful.
• 25:09
Speaker 1: Well for a certain personality. I would imagine that a
• 25:12
Speaker 1: life coach is really helpful because it's like I remember
• 25:15
Speaker 1: going into therapy and I was like, I don't really
• 25:18
Speaker 1: want to deal with the past. I'm like, I just
• 25:20
Speaker 1: would like to move forward with some better habits. And
• 25:22
Speaker 1: he almost laughed at me. He's like, well, in order
• 25:24
Speaker 1: to do that, we actually have to deal with the past.
• 25:26
Speaker 1: And I'm like, but why, Like that's done? Like I
• 25:29
Speaker 1: just would like to focus on forward movement. And what
• 25:32
Speaker 1: he should have said is like, well, what you're looking
• 25:34
Speaker 1: for as a life coach, not a therapist, you know,
• 25:36
  Speaker 1: or a psychiatrist.
• 25:37
Speaker 6: But they're not going to pass you off to a
• 25:43
Speaker 6: life coach. But I do see how it can help.
• 25:47
Speaker 7: Some people just need that personal cheerleader, you know. But
• 25:52
Speaker 7: I love doing it.
• 25:53
Speaker 6: I don't think anybody saw it, but I thought it
• 25:56
Speaker 6: was so funny, fun I loved doing it.
• 25:59
Speaker 7: Yeah, it was as a life coach.
• 26:01
Speaker 1: Mm li, I's a life coach and were you doing
• 26:03
  Speaker 1: a character? Yeah?
• 26:04
Speaker 6: Yeah, just very close to myself close to yourself. I
• 26:07
Speaker 6: did it, shot it in New York and it was
• 26:09
Speaker 6: so much fun. But yeah, no one saw it.
• 26:12
Speaker 1: So you're an LA girl, not a New York girl.
• 26:14
Speaker 6: No, I'm from just outside of Philly mm hmm. And
• 26:19
Speaker 6: when I moved here, I moved here to get in
• 26:21
Speaker 6: the music business. I worked at A and M Records.
• 26:23
Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to be an.
• 26:25
Speaker 1: Actress really, So then what happened.
• 26:28
Speaker 6: I was like, Wow, if I'm ever going to make
• 26:30
Speaker 6: a fool of myself, this would be the time. I
• 26:32
Speaker 6: don't know anybody here, and because people alrey said, oh,
• 26:35
Speaker 6: you should do stand up, you should do stand up.
• 26:37
Speaker 6: But I couldn't imagine being myself.
• 26:43
  Speaker 7: And on stage.
• 26:44
  Speaker 1: So then a.
• 26:45
Speaker 6: Woman said to me, oh, you should do the groundlings
• 26:48
Speaker 6: And I said, what's that. She said, it's an improv troop.
• 26:51
Speaker 6: I said it's improv and I had no idea. And
• 26:54
Speaker 6: I went down the groundings and I saw and like
• 26:58
Speaker 6: the clouds parted. I couldn't believe this place existed. I
• 27:01
Speaker 6: I was like, this is like Saturday Night live on stage.
• 27:05
Speaker 6: And so I started taking classes and I had a
• 27:09
  Speaker 6: great job at A and M. I loved I worked
• 27:12
Speaker 6: in promotion, I worked in publishing.
• 27:15
Speaker 1: And then and so you did that and then you
• 27:17
Speaker 1: did groundlinks on the side.
• 27:18
Speaker 6: Yeah, And I got into the main company after years,
• 27:22
Speaker 6: and I had an agent, a manager, a commercial agents
• 27:26
  Speaker 6: said this isn't a fluke.
• 27:27
Speaker 7: You need to quit your job. And I was so scared.
• 27:30
Speaker 6: You know, it's like changing completely changing careers. How old
• 27:34
Speaker 6: were you at this time, maybe thirty, okay like that,
• 27:39
Speaker 6: And so I did and I started just temping at
• 27:42
Speaker 6: Disney Legal and it wasn't fun I was just you know,
• 27:47
  Speaker 6: temping and temping.
• 27:49
Speaker 1: I just want to say, not to interrupt you, but
• 27:52
Speaker 1: I just want to interpose that temping is one of
• 27:54
Speaker 1: the sole most soulless, it is jobs you could do.
• 27:58
  Speaker 1: I did that.
• 27:59
Speaker 6: Oh, I'm going to meet people, And what it is
• 28:01
Speaker 6: is nobody wants to get close to you because they
• 28:03
Speaker 6: feel like they're cheating on the person that you're temping for.
• 28:06
Speaker 7: Right, you're gonna be gone.
• 28:08
Speaker 1: I'm not investig in yes, exactly.
• 28:10
Speaker 7: And it was so lonely.
• 28:13
Speaker 6: What was funny was a year and a half later
• 28:15
Speaker 6: after I got SNL, I had a meeting with one
• 28:18
Speaker 6: of the lawyers there, and it was so funny because
• 28:22
Speaker 6: the lawyer that I met said to my manager, why
• 28:24
Speaker 6: is she talking to all the assistants out there? And
• 28:28
Speaker 6: it's because she was working with them a year and
• 28:30
Speaker 6: a half ago. Oh yeah, And you know it was
• 28:33
Speaker 6: it was really nice because so many people are doing
• 28:36
Speaker 6: something to do something else, you know, and I think inspired,
• 28:42
Speaker 6: I guess. But it was so nice to go back
• 28:45
Speaker 6: there and see all those people that I was, you
• 28:48
Speaker 6: know that where I was.
• 28:49
Speaker 7: Who didn't talk to me. I guess, now I'm safe
• 28:53
Speaker 7: to talk to. And then I got.
• 28:55
Speaker 6: SNL and S ANDL is like my first job.
• 28:58
Speaker 1: And what was that audition process like for SNL?
• 29:01
Speaker 6: Oh you do four or five characters in seven minutes
• 29:06
  Speaker 6: something like that.
• 29:07
Speaker 1: And were any of the characters the characters you ended
• 29:09
Speaker 1: up doing on the show?
• 29:11
Speaker 6: The Lady on the Porch, the Italian Lady on the porch.
• 29:14
Speaker 7: I keep it now. But the groundings was everything.
• 29:17
Speaker 6: It taught me everything, and it was the perfect you know,
• 29:21
Speaker 6: training ground for SNL. And I had to write because
• 29:24
  Speaker 6: I was working at A and M, so I couldn't
• 29:26
Speaker 6: meet other people to write as much as you know
• 29:29
Speaker 6: the others that were acting. So I wrote by myself
• 29:32
Speaker 6: a lot, and it was little did I know? You know,
• 29:37
Speaker 6: it was something because you think that you're going to
• 29:40
Speaker 6: be written for on SNL and it's like, oh no,
• 29:43
Speaker 6: that's a nice, big surprise. But Lauren Michael said, we
• 29:46
Speaker 6: want you to continue writing. I was so flattered and
• 29:49
Speaker 6: it was like, oho, and you don't get.
• 29:51
Speaker 1: Paid, didn't I read sometime that he never actually officially
• 29:56
Speaker 1: hired you. Is that a true story?
• 29:58
  Speaker 8: No?
• 29:58
Speaker 1: He did, he did?
• 30:00
  Speaker 7: You know?
• 30:00
Speaker 2: They were realize you had gotten the job and that
• 30:02
  Speaker 2: oh yeah, he.
• 30:03
Speaker 6: Said, we want you to come to New York. And
• 30:05
Speaker 6: I'm like to shop for the day, like finish the sentence,
• 30:12
Speaker 6: you know. But I feel divinely I was guided there
• 30:14
Speaker 6: because I would have never dreamt that big.
• 30:17
Speaker 1: Mmmm that's nice, you know.
• 30:19
Speaker 6: Yeah, And it's like, how do we get her out here?
• 30:22
Speaker 6: How do we let's see, let's have John break up
• 30:26
Speaker 6: with her, break her heart. I feel like there's nothing
• 30:31
Speaker 6: left for me there. Oh wow. And I always wanted
• 30:35
Speaker 6: to live in California always, And it was truly I
• 30:39
Speaker 6: felt like divinely, like how do we get her out here?
• 30:42
  Speaker 4: You know?
• 30:43
Speaker 1: And to get out here after SNL, you mean.
• 30:46
Speaker 6: No, no, to get me to la to get into
• 30:50
  Speaker 6: the groundlinks.
• 30:50
Speaker 1: Right, Okay, So, but then you moved to New York
• 30:53
Speaker 1: when I got SNL you yeah, yeah, it would have
• 30:55
Speaker 1: been amazing if you had filmed SNL from LA and
• 30:58
Speaker 1: just never went to New York.
• 30:59
Speaker 6: I used to come back every time I had a
• 31:01
Speaker 6: two week hiatus because you love it here.
• 31:03
Speaker 7: I do, yeah, I really do.
• 31:05
Speaker 1: What are your favorite things about Los Angeles?
• 31:09
Speaker 6: Just the skyline, It's just I mean the landscape.
• 31:12
  Speaker 4: You know.
• 31:13
Speaker 6: I was always amazed when I moved here, and I
• 31:14
Speaker 6: couldn't believe driving home from waitressing from Carlos and Charlie's.
• 31:20
Speaker 6: Do you remember Carlos and Charlie's on Sunset?
• 31:22
Speaker 1: No, it was a club.
• 31:23
Speaker 6: It was like a nightclub, huh. And I was waitressing
• 31:27
Speaker 6: there while I was looking for a job. And I
• 31:31
Speaker 6: remember coming home from there into the valley. I could
• 31:34
Speaker 6: not believe how beautiful the lights were coming into the valley.
• 31:38
Speaker 6: Like it's still so beautiful to me.
• 31:42
Speaker 1: Driving on Maulholland, like at dusk or at night is
• 31:45
Speaker 1: always really always reminds me. Like, you know, I used
• 31:48
Speaker 1: to have a studio universal and I would live in
• 31:51
Speaker 1: like bel Air, and I would just take Maholland every day,
• 31:54
Speaker 1: even though it took like, you know, an extra twenty
• 31:55
Speaker 1: five minutes because that drive. I always would just cement
• 31:59
Speaker 1: it how much I love the beauty of this place
• 32:02
Speaker 1: because I think LA like LA. I go through phases
• 32:05
Speaker 1: where I really appreciate LA, and then there are times
• 32:08
Speaker 1: where I'm like, oh, this place is just lame. There's
• 32:11
  Speaker 1: no vibe here.
• 32:12
Speaker 6: You know. The only thing that bugs me is it's
• 32:14
Speaker 6: it's it is this business. It's everywhere. You know, that's
• 32:20
Speaker 6: when I just meet an accountant, but often when you
• 32:23
  Speaker 6: get to.
• 32:23
Speaker 1: Meet it are you meeting.
• 32:24
Speaker 7: A lot of accountants? Just my own?
• 32:28
Speaker 6: But you know, it's I missed the diversity of occupation.
• 32:33
Speaker 6: I mean there are you know it is, but it's
• 32:36
Speaker 6: so central to this business, so centralized, and it's and
• 32:43
Speaker 6: you can't kind of get away from it unless you
• 32:45
Speaker 6: get away from it.
• 32:46
Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, what is your relationship with like your celebrity? Like,
• 32:51
Speaker 1: how do you look at that? Because it's weird.
• 32:54
Speaker 6: I never ever really felt like a celebrity and I
• 32:59
Speaker 6: didn't ever into it, and I'm never bothered by people.
• 33:03
Speaker 6: And I don't you know, get asked for my autograph
• 33:06
Speaker 6: much or you know.
• 33:07
Speaker 7: I live really like you know, I'm at home depot.
• 33:13
  Speaker 6: I'm at Loew's walking the dogs, and I don't live
• 33:18
  Speaker 6: a life like a celebrity.
• 33:20
Speaker 1: Okay, you know, what are your female relationships like at
• 33:23
Speaker 1: this stage in your life?
• 33:25
Speaker 7: Great? I have really good friends.
• 33:27
Speaker 1: And how long have you had them?
• 33:29
Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, Well my best friend was the publicist
• 33:32
  Speaker 6: at NBC.
• 33:34
Speaker 7: Oh okay, but I was there. She loves you. She's like,
• 33:36
Speaker 7: are you excited about Chelsea?
• 33:38
Speaker 1: And You're like, no, I hate being interviewed.
• 33:42
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 33:42
Speaker 6: If Wemer tells me to Wimer person tells me to
• 33:44
Speaker 6: be myself and have fun, I can be myself and
• 33:49
Speaker 6: have fun. And oh my gosh, my buddy Cameron and Nadine.
• 33:58
Speaker 1: And do you hang out with your girlfriends as a
• 34:00
Speaker 1: big group? Do you hang out with.
• 34:03
  Speaker 7: Play cards?
• 34:04
Speaker 1: What kind of cards?
• 34:05
Speaker 7: Rummy Cube or I buy and let me see.
• 34:10
Speaker 1: I thought Robny Cube was the with the piece.
• 34:12
Speaker 7: There are the tiles?
• 34:13
Speaker 6: Yeah, that's that. Now I got my neighbors. I have
• 34:18
Speaker 6: great neighbors, great women. We'll come over each other's house
• 34:22
Speaker 6: and I'll do a charcouterie board happy hour or they'll
• 34:25
Speaker 6: do it not as good as me, but it's not
• 34:27
  Speaker 6: a competition.
• 34:31
Speaker 1: Do you make a mean sharkter.
• 34:33
  Speaker 7: I do, yes, I do.
• 34:35
Speaker 1: What do you put on your sharcotery bar? Do you
• 34:38
Speaker 1: use your salmon plank for your charcuterie board to smoke
• 34:41
Speaker 1: your meat dinner? Okay?
• 34:44
  Speaker 8: You know?
• 34:45
Speaker 6: But yeah, boy, I'll tell you the women friends. I'll
• 34:50
Speaker 6: tell you something that recently happened. My friend had invited
• 34:54
Speaker 6: me to this dinner he was hosting for the Milken
• 35:00
Speaker 6: Milkin Institute. What is the Milken Institute to again, women's
• 35:03
  Speaker 6: health issues?
• 35:04
Speaker 7: Right? So I said yeah, and Jill Biden was a chair.
• 35:09
Speaker 6: And first I'm driving down the street and there's all
• 35:12
Speaker 6: these cops that are stopping everybody.
• 35:14
Speaker 7: And I was like, oh my gosh.
• 35:17
Speaker 6: And I said to the cops, you know where can
• 35:19
Speaker 6: I park? And he said anywhere you want? So this
• 35:22
Speaker 6: is where I parked it, Chelsea.
• 35:27
Speaker 2: Let's just sorry with a bunch of Beeby dudes.
• 35:30
Speaker 1: I said, hey, fellas.
• 35:35
Speaker 7: The guy asked me, he goes, can I take a
• 35:37
  Speaker 7: picture with you?
• 35:38
Speaker 6: And I said, oh, sure, if I could take a
• 35:39
Speaker 6: picture with you guys. And he's like, you want to
• 35:41
Speaker 6: get on the bike and I go, yeah, I want
• 35:44
Speaker 6: to play with the lights.
• 35:44
  Speaker 7: I'm like yeah.
• 35:47
Speaker 6: I did, But anyway, I go in there and chilled.
• 35:50
Speaker 6: Biden immediately came up and she goes, now, Sherry, are
• 35:53
Speaker 6: you from Philly or Jersey? And I said, I'm from
• 35:56
Speaker 6: outside of Philly, but I'm in Jersey a lot. And
• 35:59
  Speaker 6: She's like, I'm from Jersey. I said, I know you're
• 36:01
Speaker 6: from Hamilton, the blueberry capital of the world.
• 36:04
Speaker 7: And yeah, and she said yeah.
• 36:06
Speaker 6: And I said, Jill, when I found out that you
• 36:08
Speaker 6: were from Jersey was everything for me not to call
• 36:10
Speaker 6: you and ask you to pick up a bag of
• 36:12
Speaker 6: ice on the way.
• 36:15
  Speaker 7: And she started.
• 36:17
Speaker 6: Laughing and we just started talking. And then I'm sitting
• 36:21
Speaker 6: with all of these women, all of these accomplished, powerful women,
• 36:25
Speaker 6: and they were talking about in all these different occupations
• 36:29
Speaker 6: and Biden women and healthcare, and there were investors there,
• 36:33
Speaker 6: and I'm just listening and listening to everybody speak. And
• 36:36
Speaker 6: it was the weirdest thing because I would just diagnosed
• 36:41
Speaker 6: with dcis with breast cancer. I'm staying there quiet, and
• 36:47
Speaker 6: I'm like, this is so serendipitous, you know that He's like,
• 36:50
Speaker 6: I want should come and just and be my guest.
• 36:55
Speaker 6: And I'm listening to all these women and then at
• 36:58
Speaker 6: the end, Jill came up to me and we were
• 37:02
Speaker 6: saying goodbye, and I told her that I was just
• 37:05
Speaker 6: diagnosed and she said when is your surgery and I
• 37:08
Speaker 6: said the twenty six and she said, all right, you're
• 37:13
Speaker 6: gonna get tired of me. And she says, I'm going
• 37:16
Speaker 6: through this with you. This woman like before my surgery,
• 37:22
Speaker 6: after my surgery, she just she goes, I am with
• 37:26
Speaker 6: you on this. I was blown away. And then she
• 37:30
Speaker 6: was coming out to La and she's like, let's have coffee.
• 37:33
Speaker 6: And I said, all right, I'll come to your hotel.
• 37:35
  Speaker 6: She goes, I don't want to. I don't want you
• 37:37
Speaker 6: to come here. There's so much security. And I go, yeah,
• 37:39
  Speaker 6: for you.
• 37:40
Speaker 7: You know, like she was bothered by the security there.
• 37:43
Speaker 6: And so we met at this coffee shop and we
• 37:47
Speaker 6: just talked for two hours, and she was just that
• 37:54
Speaker 6: is a woman with a huge heart, and through everything,
• 37:57
Speaker 6: she's like checking on me and just a beautiful human being.
• 38:03
Speaker 7: So I never felt so supported.
• 38:06
Speaker 6: That's really nice, you know, by my friends, my girlfriends,
• 38:10
Speaker 6: and and so you know, she goes, you're gonna get
• 38:15
Speaker 6: sick of me texting you, and I'm like, seriously, Jill,
• 38:19
  Speaker 6: knock it off.
• 38:20
Speaker 7: I'm okay, no, But what was.
• 38:22
Speaker 6: Funny was we were sitting there and we're talking about
• 38:25
Speaker 6: everything with coffee, and she goes, cher, are you really
• 38:28
  Speaker 6: You're really brave?
• 38:29
Speaker 7: And I go, I'm Jill. I caught it early.
• 38:33
Speaker 6: So that's my message to everybody too, is you know,
• 38:37
  Speaker 6: get your mammogram.
• 38:39
Speaker 7: I caught it really early.
• 38:41
  Speaker 1: Oh thank goodness.
• 38:42
Speaker 6: Yeah, and I just had such with two days ago.
• 38:46
Speaker 2: What from from this?
• 38:49
Speaker 1: And this has been your experience with Jill? Just now? Oh,
• 38:53
Speaker 1: this is my present.
• 38:54
Speaker 7: I was thinking this was like a year ago or no,
• 38:56
Speaker 7: this is like couple days ago.
• 38:59
Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh my god. How are you feeling great?
• 39:03
Speaker 1: Oh look at you? What a blessing. Yeah, you're sitting
• 39:07
Speaker 1: here healthy and happy. Oh wow.
• 39:11
Speaker 7: Yeah. The next day I was like, wow, I'm okay.
• 39:16
Speaker 6: I just had a lump ectomy. And the other advice
• 39:19
Speaker 6: I want to give is get a second opinion. The
• 39:23
Speaker 6: first doctor I went to suggested something way more aggressive,
• 39:28
Speaker 6: and I'm like, what wait, I caught it early, and
• 39:32
Speaker 6: that is what you're proposing.
• 39:35
Speaker 7: You know, to do.
• 39:36
Speaker 6: I was like, that doesn't make sense. And I called
• 39:39
Speaker 6: a friend of mine who's gone to college as Sherry Ross,
• 39:41
Speaker 6: and she said, don't do anything until you talk to
• 39:44
Speaker 6: my friends. So I went to another hospital and had
• 39:49
Speaker 6: all my records transferred and she said to me, this
• 39:53
  Speaker 6: doctor Grumley.
• 39:53
Speaker 7: She said, Cherry, that's way too aggressive.
• 39:57
Speaker 6: And if I didn't get a second opinion, you know,
• 40:02
Speaker 6: if you need to, you need to write. But she
• 40:06
Speaker 6: said that, you know you don't need to. And so
• 40:11
Speaker 6: I just had a lumpectomy and everything looks normals.
• 40:17
  Speaker 4: Good.
• 40:17
Speaker 7: Fine for sharing that.
• 40:20
Speaker 1: I mean, this is helpful to so many women listening.
• 40:23
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, truly get your mammogram off, of course,
• 40:27
Speaker 6: but also get a second opinion, you.
• 40:29
Speaker 2: Know what I mean.
• 40:30
  Speaker 6: Like everything I wouldn't have, I really wouldn't have unless
• 40:34
Speaker 6: Cherry suggested that I do that. And yeah, I mean
• 40:39
Speaker 6: I'm fine. And you know, like who would have thought,
• 40:44
Speaker 6: like i'd have Jill Biden constantly calling me and texting me,
• 40:48
  Speaker 6: are you okay?
• 40:49
  Speaker 1: What they say?
• 40:51
Speaker 7: You know, It's what was funny.
• 40:53
Speaker 6: When we were having coffee, she goes to me, Cherry,
• 40:56
Speaker 6: you know you can be vulnerable and it's okay to break.
• 41:00
Speaker 6: And I go, Jill, I'm fine, Really, I'm good, and
• 41:04
Speaker 6: she's like, you know, you don't have to be so
• 41:06
Speaker 6: brave all the time. And I go, Jill Seriously, I
• 41:11
Speaker 6: feel like I'm not scared. I'm really okay, I'm not
• 41:15
Speaker 6: in any pain because Joe wasn't in any pain either, Shary,
• 41:18
Speaker 6: all right, I'm scared.
• 41:19
Speaker 1: Now, yeah okay, yeah, yeah? Are you happy?
• 41:25
Speaker 6: But she was just hands on and that's beautiful.
• 41:30
Speaker 1: Yes, it's really beautiful when women who you don't know well,
• 41:34
Speaker 1: I mean, obviously the women in your life want to
• 41:35
Speaker 1: show up and protect you and be there for you
• 41:37
Speaker 1: during especially during times like the one you're describing, But
• 41:41
Speaker 1: when a stranger shows up in your life and is
• 41:44
Speaker 1: also that support ballast for you, it is really profound.
• 41:48
Speaker 6: It is so profound because here it's all about women's
• 41:52
Speaker 6: health issues and what we need to do, what's not
• 41:55
Speaker 6: being done, and sitting around and listening to all these
• 41:58
Speaker 6: accomplished women talking about this and me just kind of,
• 42:02
Speaker 6: you know, taking it all in, but sitting there just
• 42:06
Speaker 6: being diagnosed and thinking, okay, there's a reason for this.
• 42:12
Speaker 6: And but luckily I got through it like a champ.
• 42:17
Speaker 6: And I did have to have a second surgery because
• 42:20
  Speaker 6: I didn't get it all.
• 42:21
Speaker 1: But so it was yesterday or two days ago, your
• 42:23
Speaker 1: second surgery, Okay, and when was the first surgery?
• 42:27
Speaker 7: Maybe a month ago.
• 42:28
Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, and no no pain. No, I don't even
• 42:36
Speaker 6: took anything for pain.
• 42:38
Speaker 1: Well, you can give that stuff to me, that's the
• 42:42
Speaker 1: word on the street. Yeah, do you have that?
• 42:44
  Speaker 6: Yeah?
• 42:44
Speaker 1: I would actually appreciate if you had brought that over today.
• 42:48
Speaker 1: And that goes for all of our callers and all
• 42:51
  Speaker 1: of our listeners.
• 42:52
Speaker 2: I'll give you the po box.
• 42:57
Speaker 1: Well, are you ready to take a couple of questions?
• 43:00
Speaker 1: We have live callers calling it. Yes, were a very
• 43:04
Speaker 1: special guest. I'm so glad that you shared that, and
• 43:06
Speaker 1: I'm so glad that you're healthy, and I'm so glad
• 43:09
Speaker 1: to hear this Joe Biden's story. It's all just beautiful.
• 43:12
  Speaker 1: It's beautiful woman.
• 43:13
Speaker 7: Shit, I know, I gotta tell you, I've never felt
• 43:16
  Speaker 7: so grateful.
• 43:17
Speaker 1: Unless you're just making it all up because you were
• 43:19
Speaker 1: nervous to do an interview. You know, that's that could
• 43:22
Speaker 1: be a too cancel.
• 43:23
Speaker 7: I mean, you tell me.
• 43:25
Speaker 1: Look, even Doug is interested. Now. Look you've got his attention.
• 43:29
Speaker 1: Love Dad. That's empathy and compassion.
• 43:34
Speaker 3: So our first question is just a really quick question.
• 43:38
Speaker 3: Rit says, you're Chelsea. My best friend lives in another
• 43:41
Speaker 3: state and we each have one kid. I'm due with
• 43:44
Speaker 3: my second in about a month. When I excitedly told
• 43:46
Speaker 3: her what I want to name the baby, she got
• 43:48
Speaker 3: all quiet. When I prodded, she told me that was
• 43:51
Speaker 3: her favorite baby boy name that she told me about
• 43:53
Speaker 3: years ago. Honestly, I'd completely forgotten that she had quote
• 43:57
Speaker 3: picked that name. I feel bad, but my husband and
• 43:59
Speaker 3: I both love it. Should I use the name?
• 44:04
Speaker 1: Mean? Come on, the friend doesn't have the baby yet.
• 44:07
Speaker 2: No, no, well, they're both pregnant right now.
• 44:09
  Speaker 1: Oh I don't know.
• 44:12
Speaker 3: I mean no, she says, I'm due with my second. Sorry,
• 44:16
  Speaker 3: I don't think they're both pregnant. I think she's doing it.
• 44:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, if her friend isn't pregnant, I would say. If
• 44:21
Speaker 1: the friend had been pregnant, then that is kind of like,
• 44:23
Speaker 1: but why not they just name them both the same
• 44:25
  Speaker 1: fucking name?
• 44:26
  Speaker 7: Who cares?
• 44:27
Speaker 2: Yeah, she lives in another state.
• 44:29
Speaker 1: Yeah it's not like that.
• 44:30
  Speaker 7: That's ridiculous.
• 44:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I go. Yeah, you can't. You don't own names.
• 44:34
Speaker 1: That's not right, right, right?
• 44:36
Speaker 2: Her friend needs to have like James Junior. No, just kidding,
• 44:39
  Speaker 2: but okay, James.
• 44:42
Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, James, do you see how
• 44:45
Speaker 1: he's coming closer to you he senses. Yes, he senses.
• 44:50
Speaker 1: He's sensitive like that. It's very interesting. Anytime I'm upset.
• 44:54
Speaker 1: All my other dogs would leave the room when I
• 44:55
Speaker 1: would cry. This dog, Whenever I'm upset, he comes right
• 44:58
Speaker 1: into the room and comes right up to me.
• 45:00
Speaker 7: I have my Daisi.
• 45:02
Speaker 6: Whenever I'm mad, which I'm hardly ever, he like if
• 45:06
Speaker 6: I'm angry at him, he doesn't really pay attention. But
• 45:10
  Speaker 6: if I'm angry.
• 45:12
Speaker 7: If what do you mean? What happened?
• 45:15
Speaker 6: And he'll look at me and go right outside and
• 45:17
Speaker 6: then stare at me from the outside window like wait
• 45:20
Speaker 6: until and then I just look down.
• 45:22
Speaker 7: And go, I'm okay, honey, I'm all right.
• 45:25
Speaker 1: Like it's so weird.
• 45:26
Speaker 7: How you know. I can tell him, no, don't do that,
• 45:28
Speaker 7: and he's like that, fuck you.
• 45:30
  Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
• 45:30
Speaker 6: But if he if he senses that I'm angry, he
• 45:33
Speaker 6: knows when it's real and he goes outside and just
• 45:35
  Speaker 6: stares at me.
• 45:37
Speaker 1: Oh, they're on a different than the frequent see they're on.
• 45:40
Speaker 1: I would love to be able to visually see where
• 45:43
Speaker 1: you know, where they land and where how they relate
• 45:46
Speaker 1: to us. It's kind of like I stoke in my
• 45:49
Speaker 1: stand up people who are always like, don't you wish
• 45:51
Speaker 1: you knew what your dogs were thinking? I'm like, no,
• 45:53
Speaker 1: I don't want to fucking find out what my dog
• 45:54
Speaker 1: is thinking. That's why I have a dog, not a kid.
• 45:57
Speaker 1: I'm not looking for a feedback loop.
• 46:00
  Speaker 7: I don't want to think, and I don't want you
• 46:02
  Speaker 7: to think.
• 46:02
Speaker 1: But I am interested to see what they know and
• 46:04
Speaker 1: what they don't know.
• 46:05
Speaker 6: My when my dad passed away, I went and got
• 46:08
Speaker 6: his dog, and uh, whenever I would talk really sweet
• 46:12
Speaker 6: to her, she would get on her back and just
• 46:14
Speaker 6: you know, open her legs and arms. And so when
• 46:17
Speaker 6: I would take her to the park and people are
• 46:19
Speaker 6: their dogs are doing tricks, I would go, sweet, mama,
• 46:22
  Speaker 6: where's your coinpers?
• 46:25
Speaker 7: Where's coinpers? She get on her back and open her legs.
• 46:30
Speaker 1: I love when they get in that position.
• 46:31
Speaker 7: You know, they look like those old fashioned copers, right,
• 46:35
Speaker 7: And people were like, how did you train her.
• 46:38
  Speaker 8: To do that?
• 46:39
  Speaker 2: Command?
• 46:41
Speaker 3: Well, our first caller today is Julie Brad.
• 46:44
Speaker 2: We have Julie on theline.
• 46:45
Speaker 3: Okay, So Julie says, dear Chelsea, how does one choose
• 46:49
Speaker 3: a burial plot. I'm in my thirties and certainly hope
• 46:52
Speaker 3: I won't need one for many years. But I also
• 46:55
Speaker 3: realize everyone has to do this at some point before
• 46:57
Speaker 3: they die, and I thought you might have some advice.
• 47:00
Speaker 3: Are burial plots like condos? Do you get one that
• 47:02
Speaker 3: works for now and just buy and sell them as
• 47:04
Speaker 3: you move cities or your circumstances change. I've moved several
• 47:07
Speaker 3: times as an adult and will likely move again, so
• 47:10
Speaker 3: I don't feel particularly strongly about being buried in my
• 47:12
Speaker 3: current city, my hometown, or anywhere else. I'm single, though
• 47:16
Speaker 3: certainly open to a long term partner in this lifetime,
• 47:18
Speaker 3: but don't plan to have kids. Should single people get
• 47:20
Speaker 3: a plot for one or a two bedroom just in case?
• 47:23
Speaker 3: Cremation seems simpler for a girl on the go, but
• 47:26
Speaker 3: is not for me. My parents are divorced, and my
• 47:29
Speaker 3: mom got their two plots in the settlement. She frequently
• 47:31
Speaker 3: reminds me that she willed the extra plot to me.
• 47:34
Speaker 3: If I don't get my own plot, I'll be stuck
• 47:36
Speaker 3: arguing with this woman until the end of time, so
• 47:38
Speaker 3: there's a little pressure to figure this out.
• 47:40
Speaker 2: On the earlier side.
• 47:41
Speaker 3: I hope you'll live forever and do this podcast another
• 47:44
Speaker 3: one hundred years, but if you're comfortable sharing I'd love
• 47:46
Speaker 3: to hear if you've made this decision for yourself and
• 47:48
Speaker 3: how you did it. I don't have a death wish,
• 47:50
Speaker 3: I swear, thanks, Julie.
• 47:51
Speaker 1: Okay, you got to put your headphones on for this, Sherry,
• 47:54
Speaker 1: because that's Julie right there.
• 47:55
  Speaker 7: Julie.
• 47:56
  Speaker 1: Hi, Julie.
• 47:57
Speaker 7: I love how you're like on the gallo, on the go.
• 47:59
  Speaker 7: I don't have time for a funeral.
• 48:01
  Speaker 1: You're so funny, Julie. I can't believe you're worried about
• 48:04
Speaker 1: this is the first time anyone has called in about
• 48:06
Speaker 1: buying their own burial plot, and I honestly, first of all,
• 48:09
Speaker 1: you already have one next to your mother. I really
• 48:12
Speaker 1: don't believe you guys will be fighting in the afterlife.
• 48:15
Speaker 1: I I love that you are consumed with this. I've
• 48:19
Speaker 1: never heard anyone talk about this ever at your age.
• 48:24
Speaker 1: What do you think? Why do you think you are
• 48:26
Speaker 1: so consumed with this?
• 48:27
  Speaker 2: Planner?
• 48:28
  Speaker 4: I am a planner, I mean part of it. I
• 48:30
Speaker 4: certainly put off making, like you know, real decisions in
• 48:34
Speaker 4: my life by focusing on these not immediate decisions. I
• 48:39
Speaker 4: definitely think about it when I do talk to my
• 48:43
Speaker 4: mom and she reminds me that I've got this plot
• 48:46
Speaker 4: waiting for me in Cleveland. I've been thinking about it.
• 48:49
Speaker 4: Where I went to go visit my dad, the total
• 48:53
Speaker 4: solar eclipse was over my dad's place and I went
• 48:56
Speaker 4: to visit and I was like, where are we watching
• 48:58
Speaker 4: this eclipse? And he was like, oh, my cemetery plot.
• 49:01
Speaker 4: I own it. No one else is going to be
• 49:03
Speaker 4: disturbed by a seeing there. It's like, oh, people can hate.
• 49:06
Speaker 7: It that you use your plot before you die.
• 49:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lot of them, a lot talking in
• 49:11
Speaker 1: your family, so I feel like it's hereditary. I honestly
• 49:15
  Speaker 1: don't have that. I haven't planned for my I I
• 49:18
Speaker 1: want to be cremated, so I know you said you don't,
• 49:22
Speaker 1: But if this is really way, I just don't know
• 49:24
Speaker 1: how you can discern at this stage in your life.
• 49:27
Speaker 1: What if you meet someone, what if you end up
• 49:29
Speaker 1: having a big family, whether you have what if you
• 49:32
Speaker 1: marry somebody who as children and you want to be
• 49:34
Speaker 1: buried with their family, I mean, being buried next to
• 49:37
Speaker 1: your mom. To me, sounds like a fine idea. Yeah, well,
• 49:41
Speaker 1: but also it's already a built in plot, and you're
• 49:44
Speaker 1: obsessed with plots, and you already have a plot in Cleveland,
• 49:48
  Speaker 1: I would.
• 49:49
Speaker 4: Not say this is a consuming problem for me. I
• 49:52
Speaker 4: just I honestly never knew any like nobody my age
• 49:58
Speaker 4: is by the cemetery plot. I don't know if this
• 50:01
Speaker 4: is a thing people have.
• 50:02
Speaker 7: You're a gal on the go. You need ashes that
• 50:04
Speaker 7: are on the go.
• 50:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, you know. I think you should reconsider cremation. I
• 50:08
Speaker 1: do too. It's better for the environment, and also then
• 50:12
Speaker 1: you don't have to this is way. Why are you
• 50:14
  Speaker 1: against cremation.
• 50:16
Speaker 4: I'm not against cremation generally. It's not traditionally Jewish to
• 50:22
  Speaker 4: do cremation.
• 50:23
Speaker 7: Right right, Yeah, you can pick out your urn now.
• 50:27
Speaker 4: Even if you cremate, you have to decide where your
• 50:29
Speaker 4: remains go, So that's true.
• 50:31
Speaker 1: You can't think you just go on the plot next
• 50:33
  Speaker 1: to your mother.
• 50:35
Speaker 3: She's really trying to get you next to mom.
• 50:37
Speaker 1: I'm Jewish too, but I don't really hold any regard
• 50:39
Speaker 1: for like, you know what we're supposed to do based
• 50:41
Speaker 1: on our religion. I honestly don't know what to tell you,
• 50:45
Speaker 1: except for the fact that I don't think you should
• 50:47
Speaker 1: be thinking about this at this stage. You're not. You
• 50:49
Speaker 1: don't know where life's gonna take you. You said you're
• 50:52
Speaker 1: only in your thirties, right.
• 50:54
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's why I was just wondering if people just
• 50:57
Speaker 4: pulled off on them.
• 50:58
Speaker 1: Do people do this? Have you thought about your Is
• 51:00
Speaker 1: this a thing I'm gonna know?
• 51:02
Speaker 7: But I do love Forest Lawn?
• 51:04
  Speaker 4: I do.
• 51:05
Speaker 6: I take my drive past here. I'm like, if I
• 51:07
Speaker 6: don't cremate, this is where I.
• 51:09
Speaker 1: Want to be. Forest Lawn is a really in the valley.
• 51:12
Speaker 1: And I was gonna say, in America, in the valley
• 51:15
Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. So if you are looking for a
• 51:18
Speaker 1: nice cemetery, you should check that one out. Law, But
• 51:21
Speaker 1: I don't have a lot of cemetery referrals.
• 51:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, you should google, like America's most Beautiful Cemetery.
• 51:28
  Speaker 1: Yes, that's a great idea.
• 51:29
Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I mean I could spend I could be
• 51:32
Speaker 4: consumed with, you know, becoming more famous, so I could
• 51:34
Speaker 4: get into one of the nicer cemeteries. No, it's really not.
• 51:37
Speaker 4: It's not something that I think you imagine.
• 51:39
Speaker 6: I can't get into that cemetery. Everybody wants to get in.
• 51:42
  Speaker 2: It's too hot.
• 51:43
Speaker 7: Who do you know? You got to know somebody.
• 51:45
Speaker 1: It starts in preschool and ends in death.
• 51:47
Speaker 6: Oh my god, just got into wagon Wheel Cemetery.
• 51:53
Speaker 1: I do really appreciate the question because you're really live
• 51:56
Speaker 1: and things up and freshen things up in terms of.
• 51:58
Speaker 7: Things up about death.
• 52:00
Speaker 1: Uh huh, that's right. Not a lot of people could
• 52:02
Speaker 1: do that. But it's also a great conversation starter for
• 52:04
Speaker 1: when you're out and about and see what other people
• 52:06
  Speaker 1: are saying.
• 52:07
Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe I'll just start asking people bringing it up idea. Yeah,
• 52:11
Speaker 4: I don't know if people just kind of have this.
• 52:13
Speaker 4: The people that I know that have plots are have
• 52:16
Speaker 4: some sort of like family plot that they're very tied to, which.
• 52:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, we didn't get a plot in our family. I
• 52:22
Speaker 1: remember my brother died, so then they my parents had
• 52:25
Speaker 1: to get him obviously unexpectedly, like a plot, and then
• 52:28
Speaker 1: they bought their two plots so that they would be
• 52:31
Speaker 1: buried next to him. And then the rest of us
• 52:34
Speaker 1: were like, I guess we'll just do our own thing.
• 52:39
Speaker 1: I have no fucking idea what to tell you. I don't,
• 52:42
Speaker 1: but I really liked the question.
• 52:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, your own The one thing I will say, as
• 52:49
Speaker 3: like the daughter of an elder law attorney, because I
• 52:51
Speaker 3: have this sort of useless information right aling around. Later
• 52:54
Speaker 3: in life, you can pre buy a plot and it
• 52:57
Speaker 3: doesn't necessarily have to be attached to a certain location,
• 52:59
Speaker 3: but you can like spend the money on a plot
• 53:02
Speaker 3: to like guard some of your assets. It's like one
• 53:04
Speaker 3: of the things that elder attorneys do to help safeguard
• 53:06
  Speaker 3: your estates.
• 53:07
Speaker 2: So, but that's down the road very far.
• 53:09
Speaker 1: But that seems like it's perfectly dovetails with what she's
• 53:12
  Speaker 1: trying to accomplish.
• 53:13
Speaker 2: Maybe an elder attorney.
• 53:15
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I can start talking an elder law attorney.
• 53:18
Speaker 4: Oh my god, they're gonna I don't know what that
• 53:21
Speaker 4: person would say to this question. I know, I don't know.
• 53:25
Speaker 4: I just you know, things come up in life and
• 53:29
Speaker 4: it turns out people have been thinking about them for years.
• 53:33
Speaker 3: Yes, I do want more questions like this, So if
• 53:36
Speaker 3: you have questions like this, please write into.
• 53:38
Speaker 1: Please write answer. We could give you non answers. I'm
• 53:41
Speaker 1: very excited about that.
• 53:42
Speaker 4: As I was, you know, leading up to this conversation,
• 53:45
Speaker 4: it was like, I feel like people right into this
• 53:47
Speaker 4: podcast and they're like, my husband isn't flossing. What do
• 53:51
Speaker 4: I do? And then once they get on the phone
• 53:52
Speaker 4: with you, they're like, I actually have an update since
• 53:54
Speaker 4: I talked to Catherine. I've murdered my husband. How any advice,
• 54:00
Speaker 4: like stay into comedy careers in prison. I'm like, what
• 54:03
Speaker 4: updates do I have, Like that I've died since I
• 54:05
  Speaker 4: wrote in I don't know.
• 54:06
Speaker 1: It's not going I think it, Yes, it is. You
• 54:11
Speaker 1: need to keep a surprise of what you do find
• 54:14
Speaker 1: out because I think you're going to start a whole
• 54:16
Speaker 1: new trend for this podcast.
• 54:18
Speaker 6: I find death very very interesting, do you, Yeah, because
• 54:22
Speaker 6: I did this thing where I for like two years,
• 54:25
Speaker 6: I just went to bed and I would always just
• 54:28
Speaker 6: listen to near death experience stories.
• 54:30
  Speaker 7: They're so beautiful.
• 54:32
Speaker 6: It's like being told a story and I would fall
• 54:34
Speaker 6: asleep to the most beautiful story that everybody from every background,
• 54:41
Speaker 6: you know, they experienced. Especially with medical advancements, so many
• 54:44
Speaker 6: people are being revived and the stories are so beautiful.
• 54:49
Speaker 1: Where do you find those on YouTube? Yeah?
• 54:52
Speaker 3: And I just read a book of near death experiences.
• 54:54
Speaker 3: I'll put the link in.
• 54:55
Speaker 7: The Brian Weiss, Betty J Betty JA.
• 55:00
Speaker 6: I've read so many books on near death experience stories
• 55:04
Speaker 6: and they change the lives of the people that have
• 55:07
  Speaker 6: had the experience.
• 55:07
Speaker 1: Is that many masters many lives Brian Wise, Okay, these
• 55:10
Speaker 1: a couple of books. Yeah, so start reading books about death.
• 55:13
  Speaker 4: Okay, a cemetery.
• 55:20
Speaker 1: I think I think you need to start some sort
• 55:22
Speaker 1: of online club or a Facebook group to find out
• 55:26
Speaker 1: how many other people are like you thinking about this, like.
• 55:29
Speaker 4: A chosen family cemetery.
• 55:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, people with the same interests exactly.
• 55:35
Speaker 7: You come from a dysfunctional family, you get to choose.
• 55:40
Speaker 1: Oh, well, thank you for calling.
• 55:42
Speaker 4: In, Thank you so much.
• 55:44
Speaker 1: Bye. Sorry for all the dog interruptions. Somehow ray J
• 55:48
  Speaker 1: got loose.
• 55:49
Speaker 7: That to me is not an interruption.
• 55:59
Speaker 3: Well, I do have one more caller, and she's sort
• 56:01
Speaker 3: of like on the brink of starting a new life.
• 56:03
Speaker 2: Do we want to.
• 56:03
Speaker 1: Sure, let's do that, and then we'll wrap things up.
• 56:06
Speaker 1: And we have to promote scary movie, which is where
• 56:08
Speaker 1: you're here in the first place, because you're in scary
• 56:10
Speaker 1: movie and it's coming out.
• 56:11
Speaker 7: Actually, I'm here because of you.
• 56:14
Speaker 1: You're you're here because you love to be interviewed.
• 56:19
Speaker 6: No, I just love you. But yeah, scary movies. Is
• 56:24
Speaker 6: it should be cool? It's so funny to cook twenty
• 56:26
  Speaker 6: five years later.
• 56:27
Speaker 1: I know, I know, isn't that crazy? It is so
• 56:29
Speaker 1: crazy all of these things that are happening from twenty
• 56:32
Speaker 1: like these remakes and continuations you're like when you were little,
• 56:36
Speaker 1: you thought twenty five years was the end of the world. Yes,
• 56:38
Speaker 1: And the fact that we're all still kind of looking
• 56:41
Speaker 1: remotely the same and at the same premises work and
• 56:44
Speaker 1: the same plot it is pretty fascinating. Yeah, and it's
• 56:47
Speaker 1: such a great franchise. People fucking love scary movies.
• 56:50
  Speaker 6: I can't believe it. I can't believe how much, how
• 56:52
Speaker 6: excited so many people are for this. Yeah, they really are,
• 56:55
Speaker 6: you know. Yeah it was fun.
• 56:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, well, Gretchen says dear Chelsea. I've been a fan
• 57:00
Speaker 3: for a long time. I really appreciate how clearly you
• 57:03
Speaker 3: live your life on your own terms. I'm forty one,
• 57:06
Speaker 3: a therapist in the Midwest and a widow. My husband
• 57:08
Speaker 3: died by suicide several years ago. Since then, I've done
• 57:11
Speaker 3: everything I was supposed to do, grieved, rebuilt, stayed functional,
• 57:15
Speaker 3: and kept my life together. On paper, it works. I'm stable, responsible, fine.
• 57:20
Speaker 3: I just don't feel like I belong in it. Internally,
• 57:23
Speaker 3: I feel more and more out of place, stir crazy
• 57:25
Speaker 3: where I am craving a different environment, different work, and
• 57:28
Speaker 3: a different kind of community. I'm planning to move to
• 57:30
Speaker 3: New York City soon and build something more aligned. I'm
• 57:33
Speaker 3: open to partnership even marriage again, but I'm not attached
• 57:36
  Speaker 3: to a timeline, and I don't have kids. I'm starting
• 57:39
Speaker 3: to accept that my life doesn't look anything like I
• 57:41
Speaker 3: once thought it would, or like the lives of most
• 57:43
Speaker 3: people around me. From the outside, it looks like I'd
• 57:46
Speaker 3: be walking away from a perfectly good life. I can't
• 57:48
Speaker 3: always tell if what I'm feeling is real clarity or restlessness,
• 57:52
Speaker 3: grief and burnout. So I guess what I'm asking is,
• 57:55
Speaker 3: how do you trust yourself when your life looks fine
• 57:57
Speaker 3: feels off? How do you know your fall your intuition
• 58:01
Speaker 3: and not just blowing up something stable because it no
• 58:03
Speaker 3: longer fits. And how do you fully step into a
• 58:05
Speaker 3: life that's more honest for you when it doesn't look
• 58:07
Speaker 3: like what you expected or what anyone around you is choosing.
• 58:11
Speaker 3: I'm right at the edge of changing my life, and
• 58:13
Speaker 3: I don't want to ignore that or talk myself out
• 58:15
  Speaker 3: of it.
• 58:15
Speaker 1: Warmly, Gretchen, Hi, Gretchen Grety, what a beautiful letter. This
• 58:20
Speaker 1: is Sherry Terry, our special guest Day. Yeah. First of all,
• 58:26
Speaker 1: I'm so sorry that you lost your husband. I can't
• 58:30
Speaker 1: imagine what you must have gone through and your letter
• 58:34
Speaker 1: almost has kind of the answers that you're looking for. Truly,
• 58:38
Speaker 1: like you are stepping into the unknown, that is that
• 58:42
Speaker 1: is not comfortable. There are moments of discomfort along the
• 58:46
Speaker 1: way in all of our lives. And the only thing
• 58:50
Speaker 1: that you can tell yourself all the time is that
• 58:52
Speaker 1: none of these phases are permanent. All of your feelings
• 58:55
Speaker 1: of discomfort are temporary. And moving into a new space,
• 58:59
Speaker 1: start a new life, which is the exact advice I
• 59:02
Speaker 1: would be giving you. I would say, get up and
• 59:04
Speaker 1: move to a new city. And you're already doing that,
• 59:06
Speaker 1: moving into this new version of you. And what you
• 59:10
Speaker 1: said is you're about to live a life. This is
• 59:12
Speaker 1: life is not how you expected it to be. Welcome
• 59:15
Speaker 1: to the world, right, none of us have gotten exactly
• 59:19
Speaker 1: what we wanted or when we wanted to get it,
• 59:22
Speaker 1: or have held on to the people that we love
• 59:24
Speaker 1: the most. It just doesn't work that way. But what
• 59:27
Speaker 1: is beautiful is when you accept the situation that you're
• 59:32
Speaker 1: in and you figure out how to make that beautiful
• 59:36
Speaker 1: and how to build back again, because there is so
• 59:39
Speaker 1: much beauty in that. And I have no qualms or
• 59:44
Speaker 1: uneasiness about how bright your future is just your letter alone.
• 59:49
Speaker 1: You already got it. You're there.
• 59:51
Speaker 7: Your life, life breaks you down to open you up.
• 59:56
Speaker 1: What do they do? Snap? This is it? This is
• 1:00:00
Speaker 1: what the kids do. And actually, so I guess. I mean,
• 1:00:03
Speaker 1: I'm telling you everything.
• 1:00:04
Speaker 6: You have the answers, but you're judging yourself, and you
• 1:00:08
Speaker 6: know it's a you adhere to these social norms that
• 1:00:10
  Speaker 6: just don't.
• 1:00:11
Speaker 7: Fit you, you know.
• 1:00:13
Speaker 6: So it's kind of like you already know what to do,
• 1:00:17
Speaker 6: but you think you're supposed to be sure. Everything is
• 1:00:19
Speaker 6: supposed to be. There's no guarantees, but you know the
• 1:00:23
Speaker 6: old thing of follow your heart and where you think
• 1:00:26
Speaker 6: you might want to go. I'm telling you, if bad
• 1:00:28
Speaker 6: things didn't happen to me, I would have probably gone
• 1:00:33
Speaker 6: in a direction that wouldn't have served me well for
• 1:00:35
  Speaker 6: the long run.
• 1:00:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, talk about unexpected life. I mean, everything we've just
• 1:00:39
Speaker 1: talked about you weren't expecting in your life. But also
• 1:00:41
Speaker 1: the unknown is comfortable, and trust the unknown when things
• 1:00:47
Speaker 1: are uneasy and you're not sure, trust it. Just trust
• 1:00:52
Speaker 1: that you're where you're supposed to be. And I know
• 1:00:54
Speaker 1: that doesn't feel sometimes that feels like something like trite
• 1:00:59
Speaker 1: to say, but it is the biggest lesson that I
• 1:01:02
Speaker 1: have learned is the moments of discomfort. There is always
• 1:01:07
Speaker 1: a light at the end of your tunnel, always, and
• 1:01:09
Speaker 1: there says there's going to be another tunnel too, you know,
• 1:01:12
Speaker 1: and then there's going to be a light at the
• 1:01:13
Speaker 1: end of that. So just make sure when you're in
• 1:01:15
Speaker 1: these moments, you're really in them. When you're in the grief,
• 1:01:19
Speaker 1: be in it. When you're in the light, be in
• 1:01:21
Speaker 1: the light and trust yourself because you're on the right track.
• 1:01:25
Speaker 7: The universe is moving you.
• 1:01:26
Speaker 1: You're emitting light. I can see it coming off of
• 1:01:29
Speaker 1: your life, body, your soul.
• 1:01:30
  Speaker 7: I'm telling you, I.
• 1:01:34
Speaker 1: Love it so so you're doing everything and we're cheering
• 1:01:38
  Speaker 1: you on, sir.
• 1:01:41
Speaker 4: I love your mission.
• 1:01:44
Speaker 1: You got it, you got it. Go live out loud.
• 1:01:49
  Speaker 1: Thank you much.
• 1:01:50
Speaker 4: I really appreciate it.
• 1:01:52
Speaker 1: Sending you so much love.
• 1:01:53
Speaker 2: Thank you us posted. Send us a postcard when you
• 1:01:55
Speaker 2: get to New York. Okay, absolutely, yes, I will do.
• 1:01:59
Speaker 1: Yeah, Bye bye, Gretchen. Awesome. I know what a wonderful
• 1:02:08
Speaker 1: ending to today's episode. I love that.
• 1:02:12
Speaker 3: And she's not like a timeline too, like she's like
• 1:02:14
Speaker 3: on the move. It's probably happening in a few months.
• 1:02:17
  Speaker 2: She's doing it.
• 1:02:18
Speaker 1: That's a great letter for anyone who's sitting or listening
• 1:02:21
Speaker 1: to this thinking like, how do I pick up the
• 1:02:23
Speaker 1: pieces of an unexpected you know, something happening in your
• 1:02:27
Speaker 1: life that's unexpected, which is what life is. Cherry, I
• 1:02:31
Speaker 1: love you. You are just a bundle of joy. Scary Movie
• 1:02:35
Speaker 1: six is in theaters now. You can go experience that
• 1:02:39
  Speaker 1: bundle of joy.
• 1:02:40

• 1:02:43
Speaker 1: Oh great, way. Oh I'm gonna come see you. Yeah
• 1:02:47
Speaker 1: for sure. When is it? When does that start?
• 1:02:50
Speaker 6: Okay, it's already started, but they're changing cast members and
• 1:02:54
Speaker 6: I am doing it from I'll be there until the sixth,
• 1:02:58
Speaker 6: so like I think the twenty ninth of Everybod, the
• 1:03:02
Speaker 6: end of June, sasy Pants, the end of June.
• 1:03:06
Speaker 7: Okay, I'm going to beat June twenty nine.
