- 0:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Thank you for all past guests, all guests that we will have in the future as well.
- 1:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We have uh a jam-packed uh period of time, I'll call it, uh, where it's uh it's gonna be exciting.
- 1:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh it already is.
- 1:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and that's about all I can say about that.
- 1:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh let's jump right in, okay.
- 1:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So when I first came out of, I guess, my mental health crisis 2017, uh, there was a period of time where, well, let me back up.
- 1:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I didn't, there's a period of time prior to 2017 where I didn't go I didn't go to uh a dentist uh to you know get my teeth cleaned and just general maintenance and for that matter brushing my teeth.
- 2:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I had still battled major depression, but I had a I think a lot a lot worse, a little worse.
- 2:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't I don't know.
- 2:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh all I know is once I um you know got out of the uh the mental health valley that I was in, there's a period of time when I decided to go and seek dental treatment, and I didn't realize what was going to be the case.
- 2:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, uh there's at least 22 fillings of my teeth, uh, one or two crowns, uh, and that was just to get back to, I guess, back to I guess uh like level.
- 3:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I don't know what type of word to use, but uh get back to level, uh meaning not gray, not not gray, we were we we had all the fillings taken care of.
- 3:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I still had crooked tea at the bottom.
- 3:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Right now, I don't uh that that was many years after uh because I I ended up getting braces for the third time in my lifetime.
- 3:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I've spoken about this on other shows, but what I want to really just get into is today I went and had a filling refilled, I guess.
- 4:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I guess it's like I'm refilling my gas tank or or uh refilling the charge on on my phone.
- 4:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh so I had cracked one and so it needed fixed.
- 4:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so today I did I did, I got it, I got it fixed.
- 4:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's just one.
- 4:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Thank goodness, so far.
- 4:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And what what they did at least with my with with this filling, yeah, they use some kind of numbing agent, Novocaine, or there maybe there's another cooler name that that's out there.
- 4:52Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh, so when they're on the drilling and and all that, that it doesn't hurt, and it's not as noticeable.
- 5:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Can feel the vibration of the tool, uh, but uh yeah.
- 5:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So went and got the the one filling that I needed refilled uh today, earlier today.
- 5:20Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I'm glad I did it.
- 5:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm glad it's done.
- 5:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's not it's not fun.
- 5:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I guess I had so many, so many cavities and and and uh and crowns that I that today went so fast because I was expecting some long drawn-out process.
- 5:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh the hardest part was keeping my my mouth open because the feeling is way in the way in the back.
- 6:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So that that was that was kind of my my morning and really here into the afternoon until the numbness is now starting to wear off.
- 6:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I know there's gonna be some soreness and some um sensitivity to you know hot and cool foods for for a while.
- 6:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't know when it was, I don't know which feeling it was, or if it was a crown.
- 6:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I just remember there was one specific time when I had some dental work done where it took a couple months, it felt like for you know, the sensitivity to hot and cold.
- 6:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I still have a little bit of sensitivity to hot and cold, anyways.
- 7:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh like I'm I'm one of those people where I wait for my food to cool down.
- 7:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh not so it's ice cold or anything.
- 7:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but some people, you know, when the food's done, it comes out, they'll just start digging right in.
- 7:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I guess it depends on what what we're eating and and how hot it comes out.
- 7:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But I already have that sensitivity, and I don't I don't need a filling or a crown to to tell me that.
- 7:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um I do I just have that, and that's that's part of the you know the uh where I'm at on the the autism spectrum of you know different changes in temperature, lights, shining, uh sounds real loud, real unloud.
- 8:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh say real did I say real unloud?
- 8:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think I just did.
- 8:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah.
- 8:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think I'm still feeling a little bit of the uh a little bit of the the after effects of having the uh having the Novicane uh wearing off uh on on me.
- 8:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So uh but anyways, uh I got it done.
- 8:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that that was something that I wasn't looking forward to, but it's done.
- 8:46Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's it's done.
- 8:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So always glad to have dental work finished, not the dreaded, oh my gosh, it's coming up tomorrow or next week or next month or uh in six months.
- 9:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I uh like probably a lot of you out there, uh I don't know a whole lot of people that enjoy uh I mean if I'm just again regular checkout, usually with no cavities, no crowns needed, it's usually not that bad.
- 9:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but yeah, so I'm I'm glad that that that that's done.
- 9:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it's been a couple days uh since we have uh had an episode out, and mental health-wise, uh it's it's been a little bit of a little bit of everything.
- 9:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, some ups, some downs, some side to side.
- 9:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And just glad to be back with everyone.
- 10:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Thanks again for watching and listening.
- 10:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's so cool to watch the numbers of downloads and views just go up.
- 10:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And we had three record months in the last six months, the last five months, and this month we're halfway through as as we're filming this, uh, we're halfway through the month, and we are I think twelve twelve downloads on the audio, and then we tie that third record, so we maybe go on uh we may be replacing the third with another third.
- 11:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh so it's exciting this to see that, and you know, when we when we talk about our shows and talk about our guests and always different topics, we're always looking for some kind of validation, and it and we know we don't hear all the feedback, we see some of it, not a lot of it, because right, it takes energy to send feedback.
- 11:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But when we give feedback, it's it's it's good, and so when we look at the numbers that we do get, there's a lot of numbers.
- 11:51Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I would say, if I were to guess, I would guess well over 50% of our analytics that show us all the downloads, all the views, we don't see whether it's a government, intelligence agency, military, uh privacy settings, uh private servers, there's so much it's private now, and that's okay.
- 12:35Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So when we do see the numbers in the analytics go up it up towards the sky, that to me, and I've I've said this a lot, and I'm gonna say it again, because it's so true.
- 12:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Any of you that have have shows out there, podcasts, uh whatever you name them when we see those numbers go up, it's like, oh, okay, we're reaching a lot of people.
- 13:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so if we're reaching a lot of people with what we can see, then that means that the number of downloads and views can only be higher.
- 13:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that that's very exciting for us to to know that.
- 13:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I also got, I guess, my hair trimmed since the last time, so I kind of was going for the longer look, and it's longer, I guess.
- 13:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh trying to get rid of this gray, but uh I don't think it's gonna happen unless I dye my my hair, then I have sensitivities to a lot of things, and depending on uh what kind of coloring product product that I have, uh we'll we'll see.
- 14:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We'll see when I do it when I get brave enough to do it.
- 14:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh you know, growing up, it was the frosted tips is what was you know going on.
- 14:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I I gotta find I gotta find a picture from uh way back when and to show you like it was like legit frosted tips.
- 14:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I had probably three kinds of different gel.
- 14:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then you couldn't just I I couldn't just stop with the gel.
- 14:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There was also it was like a I don't call it like a shiner, but it made it made my hair shiny, like I guess so throughout the day it would look like I just took a shower.
- 15:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh yeah, so we're getting this, you know, some different different topics.
- 15:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but yeah, so haircut, I got the dental work done.
- 15:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um a lot of exciting stuff with voices that uh not able to share at this point, and it kind of goes with that whole and I'm a bad person at keeping secrets, so the fact that I'm not sharing this uh is extremely meaningful as it's hard.
- 16:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't know.
- 16:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I you know when if it's somebody's birthday in our family or a special time, I have a hard time not telling them before.
- 16:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like, I know your birthday's in a week, or usually it's I know your birthday's in a day, or something like that.
- 16:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I don't want to tell you, but I can't help it because it's in this bag I'm holding, and and let's let's uh I'll just share it right now.
- 16:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So the fact that I'm not sharing is uh I think a uh I I I think it's I think it's meaningful.
- 16:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, I don't think I know it's meaningful because there's a yeah, when you have a lot of a lot of moving parts, a lot of things going on it's easy to slip up.
- 17:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But then you look at what sharing information you know at at this point would do.
- 17:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Doesn't really wouldn't really it wouldn't be a surprise, right?
- 17:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Wouldn't be a surprise if if I just uh got on the show and just started sharing everything that that's going on So I guess I'm advancing and learning continuous learning I guess is the the way the way to say it uh But very excited And to the people that say, well you don't look excited, uh I am I'm very excited very excited It's uh It's amazing It's amazing what God has put put together for all of us All of us We don't know we don't know what the world holds for us We don't know what God's plans are for us kind of going back to the I I don't I don't do well with secrets uh God holds the you know for if you're a believer you don't have to be but if you are God holds the the eternal eternal s secrets I don't know maybe maybe some of the things maybe I'll unexpectedly pass Uh and so maybe that's why he's like okay Justin you may you probably shouldn't share Not only that but there's actually it would be a minute for uh which would mean it would it would be a while before I uh or would take a minute I take some time to actually go go through go through a lot of these uh I don't know I just uh I just got back it's it's tax day here in the United States, so uh don't don't like having to uh have our puppy Lucy in her kennel and so of course when I got back she was all over she's just hopping and hopping and I'm like I'm sorry I I didn't want to do that I I I can't I can't take in what were the taxes uh where we gotta handle that at maybe maybe I could uh I I I was in such a hurry I didn't I didn't look to see if there were any signs.
- 21:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um and she's not a I I feel like she's a support animal for me.
- 21:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but she's like this she's like very tiny.
- 21:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and so I not not the support animal, or maybe a support animal has to be a certain type of dog.
- 21:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't I don't know.
- 21:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but it's uh it's always nice when we're able to travel and go places so she can hang out hang out on the ride, and then when we get to where we're going.
- 22:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh it's uh it's a lot fun.
- 22:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh again, haven't haven't been a uh pet owner.
- 22:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's it's uh it's a learning process, that's for sure.
- 22:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's for sure.
- 22:23Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But yeah, I mean the mental health, I mean is all over the place.
- 22:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like taxes, get my hair done, hair trimmed.
- 22:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think that took off a little bit too much, but I I utilize that as a uh like a form of self-care.
- 22:47Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and so I was like, I think I'm just gonna the idea was just to get it trimmed like around ears a little bit, and then the back and the sides.
- 22:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and then just take just the tiniest amount uh you know to get those ends freshened up.
- 23:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I got freshened up, alright.
- 23:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So uh once it's once it's trimmed, I mean it's it's it's trimmed.
- 23:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I guess it'd be pretty obvious if I had hair extensions, so we're not gonna we're not gonna do that.
- 23:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh and then yeah, the dental works just uh I'll say yeah, unnecessary evil.
- 23:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I guess either if you're able to to do it, to get it done, or not.
- 23:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I was able to just get some basic things done.
- 24:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I kind of feel like I'm doing a I'm doing an episode of the Kardashians where yeah, I'm not walking anywhere or going anywhere, but I'm just sharing like what I'm what I've done.
- 24:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and I I so I kind of feel like a Kardashian for for a little bit.
- 24:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So maybe we'll we'll get those uh those billion followers, those three billion followers, likes.
- 24:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It could be.
- 24:43Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We never know.
- 24:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I guess that's the the the main thing to take out of this I guess word so I guess you would say.
- 24:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't think it's a word south in the sense of what people we're we're talking about a certain political figure.
- 25:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I just talked about a bunch of different topics and I feel like that's what the Kardashians do.
- 25:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They're just like, oh, I want to get my nails done.
- 25:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Okay, well, I want to get my hair done.
- 25:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh, I want to get my I want to get my teeth whiten, but I did I I just brushed them with whitening toothpaste and I went and got my cavity filled.
- 25:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But all that takes a takes a toll, and I think sometimes, at least mentally for me, I spend a lot of mental capacity before I even do something.
- 26:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I have like, you know, that being nervous and you know, anxious and stress before I even do something, before I even go go to the dentist.
- 26:27Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You heard me say that I I didn't feel like it was that bad, all considering all the dental work I've had done over the years.
- 26:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so I'm like, I don't want to go, I don't want to go, I don't want to go, and then I go, and then I'm like, all right, that's it.
- 26:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then I was just waiting for the side of my face to stop being numb.
- 27:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I guess I need to think about that when I get my hair trimmed.
- 27:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Of oh my gosh, oh my god, they're gonna I know they're gonna take off too much, and I don't want them to, and I don't know, and they did.
- 27:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Or it might be they trim so little, and and then I'm like, uh, can you just take a little bit more off?
- 27:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then they yeah, the barbers beauticians, uh get my hair cut.
- 27:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Might not be after that first one, then like it might be like, all right, that's this looks good, but couldn't just do just a little bit, a little bit more, and they could say, oh, sure, yeah, just no, yeah, just a little bit more, and then it's that second round where they interpret that as like, oh, okay, well, yeah, I'll just take a little bit more, and then instead of it being like here or so.
- 28:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Let me go here.
- 28:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Like here, we've gone we've gone up a lot, a lot more than I expected.
- 28:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What are you gonna do?
- 28:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Again, I mean, I guess I could wear uh extensions?
- 28:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No, I'm not gonna do that.
- 28:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Or I'm just gonna wait till it grows back, and then I'm gonna figure out when I'm gonna go after this gray with with my hair dye and 44 getting old.
- 28:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Telling you the back really oh, the the lower back in the morning really, really gets me, let me tell you.
- 29:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's like I turn on one side, not turn on the other, and then I lay on my back, and and then when it's you know time to actually not time to wake up where I'm trying to sleep in a few extra minutes, and my alarm clock's not going off, not ringing yet.
- 29:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Then my back's like, Justin, wake up.
- 29:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: This is your back calling.
- 29:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: This is this is your back wake up call, and then I just get up most times after that because it just gets more and more sore, so then I just roll literally roll out of bed and try to get up without having Lucy hop on me when I'm getting up.
- 30:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But somehow she always gets she's making me up like uh yeah, she's looking me in and it's like she's playing and she wants her belly rubbed, and it's uh it's fun, except for the fact when I'm sleeping, I'm like, I want a couple more minutes of sleep.
- 30:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Why is my back doing this to me?
- 30:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then here the the here she's got like a little bell, she has a little bell, and it's like a little jingle bell, and so it uh it like jingles, and so we know where she's at, which is actually a good thing, because it's easier for us to know, like, oh uh Lucy is over in maybe one of the other rooms, or she's right above me right now, or she's right below me right now, or she's getting something getting something to eat in her in her food bowl, or she's getting a drink of water and in her her water bowl.
- 31:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um, and so that's helpful to have an idea instead of being surprised, because I'm not a big fan of surprises, and I guess because I tell all the surprises most of the time.
- 31:44Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh others, uh even if they like surprises, usually I'm telling them the surprise before I'm supposed to.
- 31:56Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I guess that's uh that's a flaw for for me.
- 32:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but uh uh it's all it's all in good fun and uh it's uh it's uh it's fun, I guess.
- 32:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't know what it's like on the other end of man, Justin always tells me the surprise.
- 32:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh I mean, I guess the older I get, the less surprises there there are usually.
- 32:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: If there's something usually there's something that we need, we usually get when we need it, which might not always be around a birthday or another holiday.
- 32:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and so a lot of times I'll just ask for practical things because that's what I I spend more of my time with that than hobby type things that when I was younger or clothing or all kinds of things that I uh yeah that I would I would ask for.
- 33:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Now it's something practical, like oh my goodness, I don't know, something that would help make the yard work go quicker, uh you know, a sp a spreader, which we have, you know, to for fertilizer and and and that um people were like, oh, like you're asking for that.
- 34:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's like well that it's something that's practical, something we're gonna need.
- 34:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I I could ask for something that's just gonna sit around, which is what I used to do.
- 34:17Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I haven't a hundred percent not done that in my late later years here, but I've done it a lot less.
- 34:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Let me put it that way.
- 34:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think that's the best way to put it.
- 34:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So thank you for joining me for this episode of the Voices for Voices TV show and podcast.
