- 0:57Speaker 5: We're in Pearl today, Pearl Pirate Day on your radio.
- 1:00Speaker 5: Appreciate Michael Katz our number one. Also Patrick Schooler, head
- 1:03Speaker 5: football coach at Pearl, and Ty Weims, the athletics director,
- 1:06Speaker 5: will be visiting with the Ray Dirt defensive coordinator here
- 1:09Speaker 5: coming up in a bit. Also, Sam Williams ums right,
- 1:12Speaker 5: they take on Jackson Prepp this weekend. As we continue
- 1:15Speaker 5: to move on through the week. All right, let's see
- 1:19Speaker 5: talking Trinidad chamberliss So before the end of the break,
- 1:22Speaker 5: they said that he's got more muscle mass in his
- 1:24Speaker 5: lower half, he's got more zip on the ball, he's
- 1:27Speaker 5: more explosive on a first step. Look, I think this
- 1:29Speaker 5: is going to be a big year for him. And
- 1:31Speaker 5: that's you know, most people would tell you that too.
- 1:33Speaker 5: That's why most outlets have him as the first team
- 1:36Speaker 5: quarterback on the All American teams that are out there.
- 1:38Speaker 5: The Athletic just released their All American team. He was
- 1:41Speaker 5: the first team quarterback. There. Big, big things happening there
- 1:46Speaker 5: in Oxford, Auburn. Let's see. I want to make sure
- 1:50Speaker 5: I got this right. Yeah, for baseball fans out there,
- 1:52Speaker 5: Auburn adds a fall game versus Mississippi State and baseball
- 1:56Speaker 5: for you guys, maybe Mississippi State fans, it's checked out
- 1:58Speaker 5: already on football and can't for baseball to return. Auburn
- 2:01Speaker 5: Baseball has added a fall exhibition game against Misissippi State
- 2:04Speaker 5: scheduled to be played Friday, October ninth, and that's going
- 2:08Speaker 5: to be a six pm first pitch start at Kessler
- 2:10Speaker 5: Federal Park in Biloxi, Mississippi. The Biloxi Shuckers, so Bulldogs
- 2:16Speaker 5: with some fall action against Auburn that'll be on October ninth. Also,
- 2:20Speaker 5: former Cowboys two time Pro Bowl cornerback Trevion Diggs is
- 2:25Speaker 5: signing a one year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. And
- 2:29Speaker 5: this is interesting. This was something that was put out,
- 2:31Speaker 5: you know, because so many guys are getting an extra year,
- 2:35Speaker 5: extra two years. A lot of guys are finishing college quicker.
- 2:40Speaker 5: And last year we talked about or Nashley, it was
- 2:43Speaker 5: talked about Carson Beck and the fact that Carson Beck,
- 2:47Speaker 5: you know, wasn't taking classes, but now it was revealed
- 2:50Speaker 5: he was taking some online classes but no day to
- 2:52Speaker 5: day school. Well, Leonora's Seller is the quarterback at South Carolina.
- 2:56Speaker 5: No classes for Lenora Sellers. This is courtesy of Busting
- 2:58Speaker 5: with the Boys on on X and of course Busting
- 3:03Speaker 5: with the Boys a really really big show. Will Compton
- 3:06Speaker 5: and Taylor Let's see who's Taylor Lewin. I've seen this
- 3:11Speaker 5: a little bit. I haven't watched a lot of it,
- 3:12Speaker 5: but anyway, I know it's extremely popular. They said Lenora
- 3:15Speaker 5: Sellers this semester, no classes. He graduates in December. His
- 3:19Speaker 5: only school responsibility is an internship at a local driving range.
- 3:25Speaker 5: So that's a heck of a deal, right. I mean,
- 3:27Speaker 5: you got a little internship and go hit some golf balls.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Maybe he'll clean up a little bit, you know, maybe
- 3:32Speaker 5: go shack some golf balls and then you come back
- 3:35Speaker 5: and you work on football. So it's not gonna get
- 3:37Speaker 5: any better for him? Is that is a heck of
- 3:40Speaker 5: a deal. There Also, former James Madison linebacker Trent Hendrick,
- 3:45Speaker 5: reported by Pete Nakos on three dot com, is set
- 3:48Speaker 5: to file a lawsuit in Louisiana against the NCAA for
- 3:51Speaker 5: a fifth year of eligibility and transfer portal entry. The
- 3:56Speaker 5: twenty twenty five Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year
- 3:59Speaker 5: was previously in an NFL mini camp and now he
- 4:03Speaker 5: is trying to get back into college. And again you're
- 4:06Speaker 5: seeing a lot of this go on around the country.
- 4:09Speaker 5: He is trying to get back into college. We'll see
- 4:10Speaker 5: if that is in fact gonna happen. Speaking of that
- 4:13Speaker 5: twenty twenty six Athletic All American Team, here's just some
- 4:17Speaker 5: notables here. Trinidad Chambliss, the first team quarterback, Ahmad Hardy
- 4:21Speaker 5: and Keewan Lacy Missouri o miss first team running backs.
- 4:26Speaker 5: And you know it's something to say mean, you don't
- 4:29Speaker 5: see at least in history outside of Alabama and Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia,
- 4:36Speaker 5: Texas teams like that where you see multiple guys from
- 4:40Speaker 5: the same team on an All American team, And it
- 4:43Speaker 5: sure doesn't happen in the state of Mississippi much so.
- 4:45Speaker 5: Trinidad chamberlis Keiwan Lacey again first Team All American honors
- 4:49Speaker 5: courtesy of the Athletic cam Coleman. Jeremiah Smith, you're two
- 4:53Speaker 5: wide receivers again. Every time I see this, I'm gonna
- 4:56Speaker 5: say it because it drives me crazy. Why do we
- 4:59Speaker 5: still do All American teams with two running backs, two
- 5:01Speaker 5: wide receivers and a tight end when nobody plays two
- 5:05Speaker 5: running backs, two wide receivers and a tight end. Why
- 5:08Speaker 5: will we not reformat our All American teams? Maybe take
- 5:12Speaker 5: a running back out, maybe had a wide receiver, Maybe
- 5:15Speaker 5: take the tight end out. I don't know, but jeremih Smith,
- 5:18Speaker 5: cam Coleman, your two wide receiver receivers. LSU with two
- 5:21Speaker 5: guys on this list, Trey Tredees Green a tight end,
- 5:25Speaker 5: and then Jordan's Seaton, an offensive tackle. Also got an
- 5:28Speaker 5: offensive lineman from Indiana Iowa Cincinnati and Oregon, and a
- 5:33Speaker 5: lot of these guys are making the same teams. Obviously defensively,
- 5:37Speaker 5: Collins Simmons first team All American from Texas. Dylan Stewart
- 5:42Speaker 5: also first team, and he's hit a lot of these
- 5:44Speaker 5: first teams. Dylan Stewart the edge rusher for South Carolina.
- 5:47Speaker 5: Will Eckles, Ole Miss defensive tackle. Also, you got a
- 5:51Speaker 5: defensive tackle from Oregon. Your three linebackers are from Auburn,
- 5:55Speaker 5: Indiana and Notre Dame. Also on the secondary, Notre Dame,
- 5:58Speaker 5: Texas Tech, Georgia and Alabama. Bray Hubbard, formerly of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
- 6:05Speaker 5: What a high school career he had playing quarterback there
- 6:07Speaker 5: for Ocean Springs goes over to Alabama with Nick Saban
- 6:09Speaker 5: and now is an All American defensive back North Carolina
- 6:13Speaker 5: who plays this weekend a Week zero they've named their
- 6:16Speaker 5: starting quarterback if you care. Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards is
- 6:20Speaker 5: the starting quarterback for North Carolina and they'll play in
- 6:23Speaker 5: that Week zero matchup across the pond. We'll get into
- 6:27Speaker 5: some more old Miss standouts from Ole Miss camp also
- 6:30Speaker 5: Tennessee and Alabama. The Crimson Tide and the Tennessee Balls
- 6:35Speaker 5: will both wear their home jerseys this year at neland Stadium,
- 6:39Speaker 5: first time since the seventies that's happened. So Alabama will
- 6:43Speaker 5: wear the crimson and Tennessee will wear the orange, the
- 6:46Speaker 5: burn orange. I don't know if that's burn orange. I
- 6:48Speaker 5: think Texas is burned and I don't know what that
- 6:51Speaker 5: is Jowhouse orange. I don't know what Tennessee wears. But anyway,
- 6:54Speaker 5: both of these teams will wear their home jerseys in
- 6:56Speaker 5: a ball game. And several people obviously old enough to remember,
- 6:59Speaker 5: posting old photos of these two teams getting after it
- 7:02Speaker 5: third Sunday in October with both wearing their home jerseys. Also,
- 7:07Speaker 5: we told you about a couple of injuries in the NFL,
- 7:09Speaker 5: as injuries can continue to pile up. And also, the
- 7:14Speaker 5: punter for Boise State, Oscar Doyle, is donating fifty dollars
- 7:17Speaker 5: to Saint Luke's Children's Hospital for each punt this year
- 7:21Speaker 5: he hits inside the twenty. Fans can join Doyle in
- 7:25Speaker 5: donations to only children's hospitals in Idaho committed to highly,
- 7:30Speaker 5: high quality, cost effective clinical care and advocacy for children.
- 7:34Speaker 5: And also, if you missed it, Art Briles is back
- 7:37Speaker 5: in coaching in the United States. He is out in
- 7:40Speaker 5: Eastern New Mexico Division two school. The Greyhounds have lost
- 7:43Speaker 5: twenty two of their last thirty ball games and were
- 7:46Speaker 5: picked seventh in the conference. Quote that inspires me as
- 7:51Speaker 5: Art Brile's back in coaching. He was coaching in Italy.
- 7:54Speaker 5: I believe it was Italy. Was it Italy? Maybe? Yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 5: he was coaching Italian football. I didn't even know they
- 7:59Speaker 5: had Italian foot like American football. It's Italian football, but
- 8:03Speaker 5: they do six one, eight, eight, five, three, seven, seven six.
- 8:07Speaker 5: That is the Cowboy Malowneys text sign if you want
- 8:09Speaker 5: to Texas also Buccaneers edge rusher Jack Pyburn and fifteen
- 8:13Speaker 5: others have been granted tro for a fifth year of
- 8:16Speaker 5: college football. You get more and more players that are
- 8:19Speaker 5: getting granted that fifth year. It's gonna be fascinating to
- 8:22Speaker 5: see how teams are handling this. I mean we're literally
- 8:24Speaker 5: week zero this week, week one next week, so I mean,
- 8:27Speaker 5: you're less than ten days or right at ten days
- 8:30Speaker 5: out from kickoff, and you're getting all these guys that
- 8:32Speaker 5: are getting granted this fifth year of eligibility and then
- 8:35Speaker 5: coming back to college or trying to come back to college,
- 8:39Speaker 5: as Pete Thamill said thirty five minutes ago with judge
- 8:41Speaker 5: in Louisiana has granted a group that includes sixteen football players,
- 8:45Speaker 5: including several in NFL training camps this summer, a restraining
- 8:48Speaker 5: order to allow them to return to college sports this season.
- 8:53Speaker 5: As that was reported by Pete Thamil and Dan Murphy.
- 8:56Speaker 5: We are brought to you by Jenny King. They are
- 8:58Speaker 5: the King of Klean. Got a jam An kingcleans dot com.

- 10:19Speaker 5: Is Pearl Pirate Day on your radio as we continue
- 10:22Speaker 5: on Coach Rayderr. He is the defensive coordinator for the
- 10:24Speaker 5: Pearl Pirates. Coach. Welcomebery, how you doing?
- 10:26Speaker 4: Oh?
- 10:27Speaker 2: Do it?
- 10:27Speaker 7: Will Man?
- 10:28Speaker 5: We were sitting here talking about just talking up shopping me,
- 10:31Speaker 5: you and Rod about reading kind of this stuff on
- 10:34Speaker 5: Peteneck Coast. These guys trying to get back into college. Man.
- 10:37Speaker 5: It's wild out there.
- 10:38Speaker 7: Oh it's a wildloe West.
- 10:39Speaker 8: It's really it's really good for the Jucos in Mississippi,
- 10:42Speaker 8: it is, you know, you know, it's really tough on
- 10:44Speaker 8: these kids around here to try to get into universities
- 10:47Speaker 8: and all that with all the kids getting extra year.
- 10:49Speaker 5: Yeah, me and you were talking earlier, and I was telling,
- 10:51Speaker 5: you know, last year, just going on Thursday nights and
- 10:53Speaker 5: working ball games and the product of Mississippi Juco is
- 10:57Speaker 5: it's always been really good, but if it felt like
- 11:00Speaker 5: and this thing's even better now. But it's a product
- 11:02Speaker 5: of what's going on in Division one. I think.
- 11:04Speaker 8: Yeah, it's when you have older kids staying there long, Like,
- 11:07Speaker 8: you know, the only options you have for a lot
- 11:09Speaker 8: of your high school kids is go to Juko and
- 11:11Speaker 8: it's been a couple of years and grow up and
- 11:13Speaker 8: get hit a little bit, and then all of a
- 11:15Speaker 8: sudden they go d one and all of a sudden
- 11:16Speaker 8: they're a hot commodity as well.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Let me ask you this from uh, you know, you've
- 11:19Speaker 5: been doing this a long time. Tutelage of young men
- 11:22Speaker 5: in high school used to and when I say used
- 11:24Speaker 5: to five years ago, if you were pretty darn good,
- 11:28Speaker 5: you may have a shot to maybe you know, obviously
- 11:30Speaker 5: the really good ones are gonna get theirs, but if
- 11:32Speaker 5: you were pretty good, you might have a shot to
- 11:34Speaker 5: get one of those last three, four or five spots,
- 11:36Speaker 5: or maybe a gray shirt of Division one. What are
- 11:38Speaker 5: you guys telling young men now, Because if it's if
- 11:41Speaker 5: you're not a bona fide you know, four five star,
- 11:45Speaker 5: you know, high three, ever you want to classify it,
- 11:47Speaker 5: it's really really tough for the young guys.
- 11:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:50Speaker 8: Really, you know, if they get an offer for D one,
- 11:52Speaker 8: we're telling them, take it, take it, take it when
- 11:54Speaker 8: you can, because at any moment they could. You know,
- 11:57Speaker 8: if you don't do it, somebody else will.
- 11:59Speaker 7: And then you know.
- 12:00Speaker 8: The great thing is in Misissippi we have the Juco's.
- 12:02Speaker 8: It's really good and we've had many kids the last
- 12:05Speaker 8: few years go there. We had a linebacker graduate two
- 12:07Speaker 8: years ago, one year Golf Coast and he's already a Baylor.
- 12:11Speaker 8: So you know, they can go to JUCO for a
- 12:13Speaker 8: year and then all of a sudden they're gone. We
- 12:15Speaker 8: have a d lineman went to Golf Coast two years
- 12:18Speaker 8: ago and now he's at Oregon State. So you know,
- 12:21Speaker 8: just because you're going to JUCO don't mean you stay.
- 12:23Speaker 8: You go, put film together, and then all of a
- 12:24Speaker 8: sudden you're gone somewhere else.
- 12:26Speaker 5: Yeah, and it's interesting to hear two different schools, Baylor
- 12:29Speaker 5: and then Oregon State. We are seeing more. And I
- 12:33Speaker 5: think it's with the money. For instance, the Big Ten
- 12:35Speaker 5: is coming here. They're pulling guys left and right out
- 12:37Speaker 5: of Mississippi. The ACC is Juco's, other schools are coming in.
- 12:42Speaker 5: I mean, there's a lot of teams from all over
- 12:44Speaker 5: that's kind of cannibalizing on Misissippi talent.
- 12:46Speaker 8: Yeah, it's It was this summer we had the Big
- 12:49Speaker 8: d tackle. He said, hey, Oregon State wants me to come.
- 12:51Speaker 8: He said, I've never been that far. He said, hey, man,
- 12:53Speaker 8: if you're ready to go, go yeah. And he said
- 12:56Speaker 8: all right. And I talked to him the other day.
- 12:57Speaker 8: They don't start last September fourteen. They already play three
- 13:00Speaker 8: ball games before they ever go to class. So he's
- 13:02Speaker 8: trying to fill his day up with practice and lifting
- 13:05Speaker 8: weights and getting ready for the ball games.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Visiting with the coach Raider. He is the defensive coordinator
- 13:10Speaker 5: here at Pearl. Wednesday edition of Your Program was talking
- 13:12Speaker 5: to Coach school earlier. You guys were in just about
- 13:14Speaker 5: every ball game last year except I think one where
- 13:16Speaker 5: it kind of got control and spiraled. Those things happened.
- 13:21Speaker 5: When you look at Pearl defensively, you guys have always
- 13:23Speaker 5: been really tough, really hard. I mean offensively, line of
- 13:26Speaker 5: scrimmage football team. I would expect more of that this year.
- 13:29Speaker 5: Kind of take us through, you know, some of the
- 13:30Speaker 5: troubles last year. I mean, but again defensively, you went
- 13:33Speaker 5: down to Pedal, won a big game late late in
- 13:34Speaker 5: the year, had a chance against Oak Grove. A lot
- 13:36Speaker 5: of people felt like Yell were fixing to literally get
- 13:38Speaker 5: jumped right into the playoffs. How that maybe has motivated
- 13:42Speaker 5: this group for this year.
- 13:43Speaker 8: Well, last year we was looking really good towards the
- 13:45Speaker 8: end and big running back Derrick Alexander heard his knees,
- 13:48Speaker 8: so he did. He missed the last three ball games
- 13:50Speaker 8: and he was a big part of the offense. And
- 13:53Speaker 8: when you lose him, you know, they stay on the field.
- 13:56Speaker 8: They keep the clock running, don't. We don't have to
- 13:58Speaker 8: be on the field as much. And that's always good
- 14:00Speaker 8: for a defense. Come out there fresh, which this year
- 14:03Speaker 8: he's going to be playing some linebackers, so I'm excited
- 14:06Speaker 8: about that.
- 14:07Speaker 5: I love talking modern day defense with cut defensive coordinators
- 14:11Speaker 5: versus you know, ten years ago, because it's so hard,
- 14:15Speaker 5: or at least I would perceive it to be, to
- 14:17Speaker 5: teach in a game that's Now you can't lock guys
- 14:19Speaker 5: up at corner, right, you can't grab and touch, you
- 14:22Speaker 5: can't hit the quarterback. You know, if you do, it's
- 14:25Speaker 5: it's got to be the right kind of hit. When
- 14:26Speaker 5: we see that in the National Football League every Sunday.
- 14:28Speaker 5: How do you teach physicality in twenty twenty six.
- 14:31Speaker 8: Well, it's still the same old like in high school.
- 14:34Speaker 8: Now you don't have quite as many rules. You know,
- 14:35Speaker 8: as long as you do everything between the whistle is
- 14:37Speaker 8: still good. Sure, but you know, like did in practice.
- 14:41Speaker 8: You know you still got a hit in practice. You know,
- 14:43Speaker 8: we don't want to get him money injured, but you
- 14:44Speaker 8: still you still got to go out there and get
- 14:47Speaker 8: after it most days. So leading up to the games
- 14:50Speaker 8: Monday and tuesas usually we get after it pretty good.
- 14:52Speaker 8: Wednesdays Thursday, will starts slowing down. But the only way
- 14:55Speaker 8: to be physical is to go out there and practice
- 14:56Speaker 8: and be physical as much as you can.
- 14:58Speaker 5: What about tackling and space, It seems like at least
- 15:02Speaker 5: for me, and I know you and I've talked about
- 15:04Speaker 5: this to point over here at rod Is and you look,
- 15:07Speaker 5: you said a lot in college, some bad tackling in
- 15:10Speaker 5: open space, you know, angles, taking bad approach angles, just
- 15:14Speaker 5: whiffing on tackles. How do you teach that to these
- 15:17Speaker 5: young guys.
- 15:17Speaker 8: Well, we do tackling drills every week and we throw
- 15:21Speaker 8: the ball out there and we tell the offensive guy,
- 15:23Speaker 8: like you got from the hash to the sideline, and like,
- 15:26Speaker 8: defensive guy, let's get them down. Like we do openfield
- 15:28Speaker 8: tackling a good bit because football is not like it
- 15:30Speaker 8: used to be. We used to be in that little
- 15:31Speaker 8: box and it was all downhill. Now they're playing basketball
- 15:34Speaker 8: on the field where they throw it out there and
- 15:35Speaker 8: you get the best athlete they got on their team
- 15:38Speaker 8: one on one with your guy. So, you know, we
- 15:40Speaker 8: do a lot of that out here. We do a
- 15:42Speaker 8: lot of perimeter tackling. We do perimeter drills where they
- 15:45Speaker 8: throw it out there and we have to go make plays.
- 15:47Speaker 8: We just try to wrap it up and practice as
- 15:49Speaker 8: much we can.
- 15:50Speaker 5: You know, you mentioned going from a box to now
- 15:53Speaker 5: you're playing outside the hashes. We're seeing a movement in
- 15:55Speaker 5: college football. Just if you look at the last three years, oddly,
- 16:00Speaker 5: coming out of the Big Ten, Michigan, Ohio State, and
- 16:02Speaker 5: Indiana won national championships. They all were better line of
- 16:05Speaker 5: scrimmage teams. Than the teams they played Indiana last year.
- 16:08Speaker 5: I can't remember. I think they were somewhere around six
- 16:09Speaker 5: yards per clip per carry, almost had a really good
- 16:12Speaker 5: per carry average last year. So it looks like we're
- 16:15Speaker 5: seeing a return to the run game a little bit
- 16:17Speaker 5: because you know, obviously defensive personnel is a little smaller,
- 16:20Speaker 5: maybe at linebacker. How do you position personnel, you know,
- 16:23Speaker 5: in a Again, Friday night, you guys may come our
- 16:26Speaker 5: hair and play a team that's for wide and then
- 16:28Speaker 5: the next week you may play a team that's you know,
- 16:29Speaker 5: playing two tight end, two running backs and you know,
- 16:32Speaker 5: twenty two personnel.
- 16:33Speaker 8: Well that's our job every Sunday to come in, you know,
- 16:35Speaker 8: make a game plan with the personnel we got. You know,
- 16:38Speaker 8: we're not college, so we have to play what we got.
- 16:40Speaker 8: So if one week we got to put all the
- 16:42Speaker 8: big guys in there and we got to stop the run,
- 16:45Speaker 8: and then the next week we got a blitz packages
- 16:47Speaker 8: and all the little guys and they're runn around trying
- 16:49Speaker 8: to chase the quarterback. It's just something we have to
- 16:51Speaker 8: get ready for every week. And every Monday I sit
- 16:54Speaker 8: down and go over you know, the game plan of
- 16:56Speaker 8: the week and also you know, Hey, what we're going
- 16:59Speaker 8: to expect, what we're going to see, and here's the
- 17:00Speaker 8: different things we're gonna have to do to stop that.
- 17:02Speaker 5: What's the hardest coach defense, hardest position to coach in
- 17:05Speaker 5: defense today?
- 17:07Speaker 7: Uh? Probably secondary.
- 17:08Speaker 8: I still think a secondary that's the one that's the
- 17:11Speaker 8: big play, that's the one everybody sees. Yeah, just because
- 17:14Speaker 8: you know, whoever's back there, there's nowhere to hide.
- 17:18Speaker 7: That's right.
- 17:18Speaker 8: I thow that songing over the top and you don't
- 17:19Speaker 8: get it. Everybody's gonna be looking and you're just looking.
- 17:22Speaker 7: Like it was me. Everybody knows it was you.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Yeah. Is it harder to get safeties? I've always wondered
- 17:27Speaker 5: this because depending on what you're you know, matching, if
- 17:30Speaker 5: you're running man, maybe you're running some zone, maybe you're
- 17:32Speaker 5: doing some you know kind of quasi cloud or whatever
- 17:34Speaker 5: you're doing to get safeties to trust the corners? Are
- 17:37Speaker 5: the corners to trust the safeties?
- 17:39Speaker 8: Well, one thing is try to make it as simple
- 17:40Speaker 8: as possible where they don't get messed up.
- 17:43Speaker 7: Right.
- 17:43Speaker 8: That is the worst thing in the world. When one
- 17:45Speaker 8: thing they got deep, in other things they got deep.
- 17:47Speaker 8: Nobody gets deep and all of sudden you gotta going
- 17:48Speaker 8: down sideline and they both look at each other, and
- 17:51Speaker 8: then everybody is looking at you because apparently you did
- 17:53Speaker 8: something that they don't understand. Right, So just reponant practice
- 17:56Speaker 8: and making sure that they understand what you're going to do,
- 17:59Speaker 8: because we can make it as high take as we
- 18:01Speaker 8: want to, but they got to be able to understand
- 18:02Speaker 8: it on Friday night to be able to do it.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Finally, before we get to get out of here, we've
- 18:06Speaker 5: got a couple more minutes here with Coach Raider defensive
- 18:08Speaker 5: coordinator Pearl. Tell me a little bit about your defensive
- 18:10Speaker 5: side this year. What you're expecting to see.
- 18:12Speaker 9: Uh, well, we graduated all four linebackers from last year,
- 18:15Speaker 9: so we were robbing some from the offense to get
- 18:19Speaker 9: Derek over there. Derek Alexander over there gonna play the
- 18:21Speaker 9: inside linebacker position for us. And then you know, we
- 18:25Speaker 9: have two or three tenth graders got to step up
- 18:28Speaker 9: and play out there. And then we got a big
- 18:30Speaker 9: d lineman coming back, Marcus Steer. He's a big six
- 18:33Speaker 9: to one, three hundred pound guy that can move, so
- 18:36Speaker 9: that helps. And then we got the leader of our
- 18:37Speaker 9: secondary is Jaydon Thomas. He's got offered from d One
- 18:41Speaker 9: and Juco and he's a good little ball player back
- 18:44Speaker 9: there and he's gonna hit the one to make sure
- 18:46Speaker 9: communication on the back end is doing good.
- 18:48Speaker 5: But you know, and coach Schuller talked about it being
- 18:50Speaker 5: young in some places. The non region schedule. Boy, you
- 18:54Speaker 5: can really see these guys kind of grow up in
- 18:56Speaker 5: five weeks. Catch you.
- 18:57Speaker 7: Yeah, we have no choice with the schedule. Yeah, we
- 19:00Speaker 7: have to.
- 19:01Speaker 8: You know, we got Madison next Thursday, and they're good
- 19:03Speaker 8: every year, and we know that we have to play
- 19:05Speaker 8: the best we can. Then after that we got Warren
- 19:07Speaker 8: Central and Clinton. You know, like we don't dodge anybody.
- 19:10Speaker 8: We go ahead and get it one of the getting's
- 19:11Speaker 8: good and then well, our district play. You know, we
- 19:14Speaker 8: have to be ready for everything by the time district
- 19:17Speaker 8: play comes because our district, you know, in my opinion,
- 19:21Speaker 8: is one of the best in the state of Misissippi.
- 19:22Speaker 7: I think it's a lot of people's opinion.
- 19:24Speaker 5: There's no doubt. There's no doubt it is. He has
- 19:26Speaker 5: raided our defensive coordinator for the Pearl Pirates. Coach, thank
- 19:28Speaker 5: you so much, best of luck this year, Yes, sir,

- 21:11Speaker 5: had football coach friend of the program, Sam Williams is
- 21:14Speaker 5: on your radio, coach, how are you brother, Welcome in.
- 21:17Speaker 6: I'm good a Jake, how are you man? Glad good
- 21:20Speaker 6: to hear from you.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Man.
- 21:21Speaker 6: We've we've done this a few times before.
- 21:23Speaker 5: It's we've done it once or twice for sure. So's
- 21:25Speaker 5: it's great to visit with you, and I appreciate you
- 21:28Speaker 5: jumping on here. Whether us coming back to the state
- 21:29Speaker 5: of Mississippi for those obviously you know they knew knew
- 21:33Speaker 5: y Brandon been there for a long time or was
- 21:35Speaker 5: there for a long time? UMS right, kind of take
- 21:37Speaker 5: us through on what that's been like, you know, and
- 21:39Speaker 5: tell us about that football down there. I mean, if
- 21:41Speaker 5: you read about it, everybody knows the state of Alabama
- 21:44Speaker 5: has really good high school football, and particularly down there
- 21:46Speaker 5: in the area you're at right now.
- 21:50Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, fantastic place. Ums Right's a really unique place.
- 21:54Speaker 6: It's a place that's been really good for me. It's
- 21:57Speaker 6: been good for my family. It's a great academic school,
- 22:00Speaker 6: one of the most prestigious schools in the Southeast. And
- 22:03Speaker 6: I got great leadership, a great vision, great facilities. You know,
- 22:06Speaker 6: I've been fortunate to have a couple of guys you
- 22:08Speaker 6: know that I've worked with come down through here. It's
- 22:10Speaker 6: an easy stop on the way of the beach, and
- 22:12Speaker 6: I've been able to show it off to them, and
- 22:14Speaker 6: you know, all of them are just wold by you
- 22:16Speaker 6: know what, what what we have and and the things
- 22:18Speaker 6: that the kids get to do every day. But man,
- 22:19Speaker 6: it's great football. Outside of that, you know, mobile area.
- 22:23Speaker 6: There are tons of athletes down here. You know, if
- 22:25Speaker 6: you look at recruiting rankings, if you look at uh,
- 22:27Speaker 6: you know, top flight programs. I mean, there's a lot
- 22:29Speaker 6: of a lot of state championships that come out of
- 22:31Speaker 6: here every year and a lot of UH, nationally recognized
- 22:35Speaker 6: programs and for sure regionally recognized programs in here. You know,
- 22:38Speaker 6: you and SHRI itself has got eight state championships, and
- 22:42Speaker 6: UH we're gonna have thirty combined on the field Friday
- 22:44Speaker 6: night with Jackson Preps. They'll be a pretty cool, pretty
- 22:47Speaker 6: cool deal in that regard.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Sam Williams on your radio head football coach ums, right,
- 22:51Speaker 5: they will be at Jackson Prep Friday night. If you
- 22:54Speaker 5: look for something that should be a great football game,
- 22:56Speaker 5: Alabama versus Mississippi style on Lakeland Drive, coach, talk a
- 23:00Speaker 5: little bit about the style of play you've seen in
- 23:02Speaker 5: the state of Alabama. We know what you like to do. Obviously,
- 23:04Speaker 5: hot tempo, get the ball up and down the field.
- 23:06Speaker 5: But you know, and I bring it back to the
- 23:07Speaker 5: state of Mississippi, and you know this well because you
- 23:09Speaker 5: coached here for so many years. You could line up
- 23:12Speaker 5: against the team in four wide here in the state.
- 23:14Speaker 5: You could line up against the team like picka Une
- 23:16Speaker 5: or Poplarville that's gonna you know, run two backs, you know,
- 23:19Speaker 5: kind of twenty two personnel. Is it similar in the
- 23:21Speaker 5: state of Alabama. It's kind of the smorgasbord or the
- 23:24Speaker 5: kind of style of play you guys are seeing down there.
- 23:28Speaker 6: I mean, I would just say it's pretty pretty traditional stuff.
- 23:31Speaker 6: I mean, it's a lot of spread down here. I'm
- 23:33Speaker 6: not saying you never see anything else, but you know,
- 23:36Speaker 6: you've got everything from you know, Philip Rivers over at
- 23:38Speaker 6: Saint Michael's, they run a little more of a pro
- 23:40Speaker 6: style offense. I mean literally, he'll tell you when he
- 23:44Speaker 6: went and play for the Indianapolis Colts this year, it
- 23:45Speaker 6: was the stuff that they were running with the sun
- 23:47Speaker 6: in high school football to your traditional high school spreads.
- 23:51Speaker 6: You know, same thing. Defensively, I mean, i'd say a
- 23:53Speaker 6: majority of teams down here we're still seeing you know,
- 23:56Speaker 6: probably more odd front that way they can build a
- 23:58Speaker 6: little more looks. But you know, football's football, man. It's
- 24:01Speaker 6: like you're always getting that whole comparison thing about his
- 24:04Speaker 6: Alabama better missive be better. I've had that question a lot.
- 24:06Speaker 6: I mean, there's good football coaches everywhere, there's good football everywhere,
- 24:09Speaker 6: and we all know that the players are the ones
- 24:11Speaker 6: that make you look good anyway. So at the end
- 24:13Speaker 6: of the day, if you got those whatever you're doing
- 24:15Speaker 6: looks a lot better.
- 24:17Speaker 5: You guys travel to Lakeland Drive, Floywood Place obviously that
- 24:21Speaker 5: you're very familiar with. Kind of take us through how
- 24:23Speaker 5: that's this ball game with Jackson Prep came about for
- 24:25Speaker 5: you guys.
- 24:27Speaker 6: Yeah, there's been a lot of changes in the association
- 24:30Speaker 6: in Alabama with you know, public and private splitting when
- 24:33Speaker 6: we get to the playoffs, So it just kind of
- 24:34Speaker 6: opened up the doors to you know, start looking at
- 24:36Speaker 6: future games you know possible, you never know what happens
- 24:39Speaker 6: down the road with alliances across states and things like that.
- 24:42Speaker 6: And actually had conversations with m R. A. J. A
- 24:45Speaker 6: and Prep at different points in time and you know,
- 24:48Speaker 6: trying to find a way to fit into the schedule.
- 24:49Speaker 6: So it was kind of cool to kind of connect
- 24:51Speaker 6: with those guys, you know, have some conversations and you know,
- 24:54Speaker 6: glad we landed on Prep. Glad that was kind of
- 24:56Speaker 6: the ones that works out because I think it's probably
- 24:58Speaker 6: the school in the metro that club is the most
- 25:00Speaker 6: close and mirrors ums right.
- 25:03Speaker 5: And of course you guys will be traveling up. We'll
- 25:05Speaker 5: talk about that trip here in just a bit. We're
- 25:07Speaker 5: visioning with Sam Williams, head football coach ums right as
- 25:10Speaker 5: they travel to Jackson Prep on Friday night to open
- 25:12Speaker 5: the twenty twenty sixth season. Take us through what your
- 25:15Speaker 5: team looks like this year for those that'll get out
- 25:16Speaker 5: to the ball game and see you guys versus Jackson
- 25:19Speaker 5: Prepp this weekend.
- 25:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean very much a team that grew up
- 25:25Speaker 6: last year. You know, we had a very young offense.
- 25:28Speaker 6: We'll have a three year startup quarterback, five senior receivers,
- 25:32Speaker 6: two return running backs. They will only be juniors and sophomores,
- 25:35Speaker 6: and we're breaking in five new offensive linemen. So a
- 25:37Speaker 6: group that kind of tell is either the front of
- 25:40Speaker 6: the or the out wide, whatever you want to look
- 25:42Speaker 6: at it. But I'm very good at the skill. I'm
- 25:44Speaker 6: gonna have a lot of athletes, a lot of talent there,
- 25:47Speaker 6: a lot of guys that can make plays. And then
- 25:48Speaker 6: we got to figure out how fast we can grow
- 25:50Speaker 6: to those guys up, THROWNT up to get to the
- 25:52Speaker 6: level we know they can and then defensively return a
- 25:55Speaker 6: few less guys. But we feel like we have a
- 25:57Speaker 6: better unit overall on that side of the ball, got
- 26:00Speaker 6: a little more athletic, got some guys that we think
- 26:02Speaker 6: can make some play. So it'll be a fun game.
- 26:04Speaker 6: I mean, it's I told somebody today, it's kind of funny.
- 26:07Speaker 6: I could I watched Jackson Prepp last year and watched US.
- 26:09Speaker 6: You could have stopped our jerseys and you wo no
- 26:11Speaker 6: difference in the two teams. It's just so similar, and
- 26:14Speaker 6: the style will play the kids, So it'll be it'll
- 26:17Speaker 6: be pretty fun, uh for any neutral observer that comes
- 26:20Speaker 6: and checks that one out. I think it'll be, uh,
- 26:22Speaker 6: a two way battle and one that you know you
- 26:24Speaker 6: kind of can't call into the fourth quarter. I fully anticipate, UH,
- 26:27Speaker 6: and to anticipate to be a full quarter battle.
- 26:30Speaker 5: And you talk about having a three year starter at quarterback.
- 26:32Speaker 7: You know this.
- 26:33Speaker 5: You've coached some really good quarterbacks and been able to
- 26:35Speaker 5: tutelage a lot of good young quarterbacks. To have a
- 26:38Speaker 5: three year starter a guy now two years in the offense, boy,
- 26:41Speaker 5: that makes a difference. Done it.
- 26:44Speaker 6: It makes a huge difference. And for him, you know,
- 26:46Speaker 6: it was a very much a run first offense before,
- 26:49Speaker 6: you know, real old school smash mouth and so you know,
- 26:53Speaker 6: really last year was his first year to play quarterback
- 26:55Speaker 6: in a in a spread offense, and you know kind
- 26:58Speaker 6: of have some you know how we how we did it?
- 27:00Speaker 6: Brandon and did before that, just you know, the quarterbacks
- 27:03Speaker 6: got a lot of autonomy. You know, he's able to
- 27:06Speaker 6: kind of control the game if you may. And so
- 27:09Speaker 6: for him, you know, now where he last year, he
- 27:12Speaker 6: was trying to figure out what he needed to do,
- 27:14Speaker 6: and uh, you know, just just getting base level knowledge.
- 27:17Speaker 6: Now I feel like he's got the answers to the
- 27:19Speaker 6: offense and he knows how to get us in the
- 27:21Speaker 6: right place, which is gonna be really fun to watch
- 27:22Speaker 6: him go out and perform.
- 27:25Speaker 5: And what would be your travel accommodations for Friday? How
- 27:28Speaker 5: are you guys chindling that.
- 27:31Speaker 6: Uh, stay out of the sun and on the travel
- 27:33Speaker 6: down and on the charter bus as long as possible.
- 27:35Speaker 6: I mean it's nine hundred degrees, you know, Norman, on
- 27:37Speaker 6: a pool like this, you tries to stop halfway into
- 27:39Speaker 6: a walk through. But I mean we'd have to we'd
- 27:41Speaker 6: have to bring three chains of clothes if we did that.
- 27:44Speaker 6: So we're just gonna get to Jackson prep a little earlier.
- 27:46Speaker 6: I leave about one, get there about four thirty, and uh,
- 27:49Speaker 6: just to our preparations there. But man, that it's gonna
- 27:51Speaker 6: be a hot one and you know that, Jake, and
- 27:53Speaker 6: but we'll be we'll be ready to roll.
- 27:55Speaker 5: Yeah, there's no doubt about it. It has been brutal across
- 27:58Speaker 5: the South. It feels like a little bit hotter this
- 28:01Speaker 5: year than recent years. How how do you prepare a
- 28:03Speaker 5: team on you know, for Friday nights, for you know,
- 28:06Speaker 5: for the elements suck what you guys are going to see.
- 28:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I think I think we've done a
- 28:12Speaker 6: really good job of that. And you know, obviously in
- 28:14Speaker 6: Mississippi it's hot, just like it is in Alabama. It's
- 28:16Speaker 6: just a humidity down here, so much different. It always
- 28:19Speaker 6: feels like it's just it doesn't matter if we practice
- 28:21Speaker 6: in the morning or afternoon, it always feels like the
- 28:22Speaker 6: air so thick. But I think our kids are in
- 28:25Speaker 6: a really good spot. You know, we've practiced the way
- 28:27Speaker 6: we play. We've gotten up to a you know, sixty
- 28:29Speaker 6: play scrimmage with our varsity kids, So I feel like
- 28:33Speaker 6: they're ready. You know, they're conditioned. We've got a great
- 28:36Speaker 6: training staff here that does a good job not just
- 28:38Speaker 6: in the weight room but also in the training room
- 28:40Speaker 6: of keeping these guys available and prepared. So I've got
- 28:44Speaker 6: very very little concern with that part of it, you
- 28:46Speaker 6: know what I mean.
- 28:47Speaker 5: Sam Williams on your radio. He is ums Rights head
- 28:50Speaker 5: football coach. They'll play Jackson Prep on Friday. Coach, we've
- 28:52Speaker 5: got a couple of minutes left here. A final question
- 28:54Speaker 5: will get you on your way, and we do appreciate
- 28:56Speaker 5: it today. You know, what are you looking to see?
- 28:58Speaker 5: I'm sure it'll be a great atmosphere. Uh as Jackson
- 29:01Speaker 5: Prepp as you well know, they brought, you know, pack
- 29:03Speaker 5: a lot of people into there. It should be a
- 29:05Speaker 5: great atmosphere for you guys and for them on Friday.
- 29:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I think we'll travel really well. I
- 29:12Speaker 6: think we'll have a few neutral observers too, just with
- 29:14Speaker 6: some of the you know guys returning home. We've got
- 29:17Speaker 6: three Missippi Mississippi guys on staff, so be really cool
- 29:20Speaker 6: to get there. I'm hoping for a for a great
- 29:23Speaker 6: atmosphere and a great week one we had a we
- 29:25Speaker 6: had a great one last year against a arrival here
- 29:28Speaker 6: in Alabama. So uh looking forward to you know, kind

- 31:02Speaker 5: Pearl today Pirate Day on your radio. Their offensive coordinator,
- 31:05Speaker 5: Coach Caleb Kelly sitting to my left. He's got just
- 31:08Speaker 5: a few minutes with us for he's got to go
- 31:10Speaker 5: pick up some children. Coach. That's the most important thing
- 31:12Speaker 5: is that is that pick up line, trying to get
- 31:14Speaker 5: those kids out of school and all that stuff. How
- 31:15Speaker 5: are you?
- 31:16Speaker 9: Oh my gosh, man, something we experienced every single day.
- 31:18Speaker 9: And the funny thing is is, you know the first
- 31:21Speaker 9: two weeks when school starts, you know, everybody's trying to
- 31:23Speaker 9: get the routine down. And I want to say I
- 31:25Speaker 9: was probably leaving at six fifteen to go get both of.
- 31:28Speaker 7: My boys dropped off at their school.
- 31:31Speaker 9: And I want to say we were probably done with
- 31:33Speaker 9: drop off around seven thirty, and you know, I was like, Okay,
- 31:37Speaker 9: is this gonna be every day hour right now? But
- 31:40Speaker 9: you know, weeks go on, Oh it's quicker and better,
- 31:42Speaker 9: more efficient.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Man.
- 31:43Speaker 9: Now it's like a twenty minute. I text my wife today,
- 31:45Speaker 9: I was like, man.
- 31:45Speaker 7: That's twenty minutes. Fifteen minutes, both kids dropped off. I'm
- 31:49Speaker 7: even really for work.
- 31:49Speaker 5: So perfect perfect yep. Speaking of time and if things
- 31:52Speaker 5: get better with efficiency, Obviously you've done offensive football for
- 31:55Speaker 5: a long time back at Pearl, previous stint here when
- 31:58Speaker 5: coach Perry was here. What made Pearl right for you
- 32:01Speaker 5: to come back for a second time?
- 32:03Speaker 9: Man, there's a lot of there's a lot of answers
- 32:05Speaker 9: I could give you for that question, man, really, you know,
- 32:09Speaker 9: and the one that stands out to me the most,
- 32:11Speaker 9: that just comes from the heart, is it's like a
- 32:13Speaker 9: family environment for me. I tell people all the time
- 32:16Speaker 9: when I when I took this job again, when I
- 32:18Speaker 9: came back, I tell people all the time, I never
- 32:21Speaker 9: had a bad day at Pearl, no matter what in
- 32:24Speaker 9: the classroom, on the football field. I never remember coming
- 32:27Speaker 9: home and just felt like, man, that was a bad day.
- 32:30Speaker 9: There might have been bad moments, but I don't. I
- 32:32Speaker 9: don't think I've ever had a bad day. And you know,
- 32:34Speaker 9: just my first stint here, I felt like, you know,
- 32:37Speaker 9: I felt like just the platform that I had to
- 32:41Speaker 9: make an impact man, that was just special. And you know,
- 32:44Speaker 9: and the people here from the administration to the coaching staff,
- 32:47Speaker 9: to the kids, to the community, they make it a
- 32:50Speaker 9: special place.
- 32:51Speaker 7: So you know, you can't ask for a better place
- 32:52Speaker 7: to be in my opinion.
- 32:54Speaker 5: Take us through what this may look like for you
- 32:56Speaker 5: guys this year kind of a kind of a coach
- 32:58Speaker 5: Caleb Kelly offense and what people will see with that, right.
- 33:01Speaker 9: Yeah, So you know, the biggest thing for me is
- 33:02Speaker 9: identity and having that identity, and for me, it's just
- 33:05Speaker 9: it's a downhill physical offense, you know, not being scared,
- 33:10Speaker 9: not being scared, to run between the tackles and however
- 33:12Speaker 9: way possible we can do that, we do that or
- 33:14Speaker 9: whatever formation. So you know, uh, I would like to
- 33:17Speaker 9: I would like to say we're multiple as far as
- 33:20Speaker 9: personnel goes, but you know, at the end of the day,
- 33:22Speaker 9: we're going to be a heavy gap scheme team.
- 33:25Speaker 5: Visit with Caleb Kelly. He is the offensive coordinator here
- 33:27Speaker 5: at Pearl Pirates open up next Thursday night against Madison
- 33:31Speaker 5: Central right here at Pirates Stadium. Of course, Uh, Coach,
- 33:35Speaker 5: when you look at it at this group of Pirates,
- 33:37Speaker 5: kind of take us through you talk about gap scheme
- 33:39Speaker 5: and running the football. Pearl has always been, you know,
- 33:41Speaker 5: prior to when you were here, When you were here
- 33:43Speaker 5: the first a very physical football team. We've talked about
- 33:45Speaker 5: that today is to me, that's the Pearl identity is
- 33:48Speaker 5: physical line of scrimmage football. This group of Pirates tell
- 33:52Speaker 5: us a little bit about them.
- 33:53Speaker 9: You know, you hit the nail on the head is
- 33:55Speaker 9: you know, when you think Pearl, you think physical and
- 33:57Speaker 9: tough downhill run game. And you know that's been the
- 33:59Speaker 9: biggest goal of the spring coming into the fall is
- 34:01Speaker 9: trying to you know, relive that identity and in our
- 34:05Speaker 9: current Pearl Pirates. But you know, so far with our
- 34:08Speaker 9: personnel and what we got now we've got some weapons
- 34:09Speaker 9: on offense.
- 34:10Speaker 7: I've actually been super proud of our skill guys.
- 34:13Speaker 9: We have a number of guys I can name, you
- 34:15Speaker 9: know who are gonna be contributing this fall. But you
- 34:18Speaker 9: know you can't fail to mention the uh you know,
- 34:20Speaker 9: Derrick Alexander Peyton Parks.
- 34:21Speaker 7: And you know we've had quarterback Cruise Atwood.
- 34:25Speaker 9: First year behind the center, who's just stepped up, made
- 34:27Speaker 9: some amazing throws in the spring and has had an
- 34:30Speaker 9: awesome summer and seven on seven, So you know he's
- 34:32Speaker 9: gonna contribute greatly in that room of things as far
- 34:36Speaker 9: as football man, you know, to me, just the the
- 34:39Speaker 9: downhill run game and the personnel that we have, I
- 34:41Speaker 9: think we're gonna be really physical. But you know, we're
- 34:44Speaker 9: still in the work in progress right there. We're still
- 34:46Speaker 9: we're still developing in that area, and I think we're
- 34:48Speaker 9: gonna be there.
- 34:49Speaker 7: I believe we will be by by next week.
- 34:51Speaker 9: So you know, I'm I'm I like where we're at
- 34:53Speaker 9: right now.
- 34:53Speaker 7: Offensively, where where are you?
- 34:56Speaker 5: And of course the game has changed so much on
- 34:58Speaker 5: on tempo in offense. I mean you say, you know
- 35:00Speaker 5: a couple of years ago and I say two five, six,
- 35:03Speaker 5: seventy two years ago, when tempo came on, everybody said, okay,
- 35:05Speaker 5: we're gonna go the old Buffalo Bills two minute offense.
- 35:07Speaker 5: You've remember back in the day with Jim Kelly. Now
- 35:09Speaker 5: everybody's running, you know, rip and running sideline to sideline.
- 35:12Speaker 5: Then that kind of slowed down a little bit, got
- 35:15Speaker 5: some teams in trouble. Yeah. I remember when Kevin Someone
- 35:17Speaker 5: was at Texas A and M. They were such a
- 35:20Speaker 5: high tempo offense, but it was getting their defense in
- 35:22Speaker 5: some precarious situation, so kind of wear you with tempo.
- 35:25Speaker 9: You know, back in prior to my Stinton oxipator, I
- 35:29Speaker 9: was a you know, I loved it. I was a
- 35:30Speaker 9: big tempo guy and I thought and I and honestly,
- 35:33Speaker 9: looking at tempo, I think is appropriate at certain times
- 35:36Speaker 9: of the game.
- 35:37Speaker 7: You know, just like you said, you don't want to
- 35:38Speaker 7: exhaust defense.
- 35:39Speaker 9: And you know where I've been, You've played eleven guys
- 35:41Speaker 9: on both sides of the ball. So really tempo got
- 35:43Speaker 9: thrown out the window from me four years ago.
- 35:45Speaker 7: For four years.
- 35:46Speaker 9: So you know, we've been a really a quick muddle, huddle,
- 35:49Speaker 9: break and get to the line of scrimmage down here
- 35:52Speaker 9: run team the last four years.
- 35:53Speaker 7: Just because we would have been at smaller schools.
- 35:54Speaker 9: But you know, we've had the ability to get into
- 35:56Speaker 9: tempo to go attack. And you know, I love it, man,
- 35:59Speaker 9: You know I love this it on Saturdays. But you know,
- 36:01Speaker 9: to me, it's all about your personnel, what you have.
- 36:03Speaker 7: Can you do it?
- 36:04Speaker 9: Can you can you efficiently do it? If you can,
- 36:09Speaker 9: you know, hats off to you do it. But you know,
- 36:11Speaker 9: to me, I love it, but I think it's appropriate
- 36:14Speaker 9: at certain times of the game.
- 36:16Speaker 5: He is Caleb Kelly, the offensive coordinator, Hitt Pearl, Coach.
- 36:19Speaker 5: I know you got obligations to fulfill. I told you
- 36:21Speaker 5: five to seven. That's where we're at.
- 36:22Speaker 7: So look, man, look it's been great. I've enjoyed it.
- 36:24Speaker 7: I can do this all day, honestly.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Well we'll do it again for sure. Best of luck
- 36:27Speaker 5: this year, coach. Thank you so much. Coach. Caleb Kelly,
- 36:30Speaker 5: offensive coordinator. Here at Pearl on your radio. As we
- 36:33Speaker 5: get closer to the end of our number two. We
- 36:36Speaker 5: got a few minutes here and I'll catch you up
- 36:37Speaker 5: on some notes. Wild story out of the state of Tennessee.
- 36:42Speaker 5: A sixteen year old Tennessee girl has been charged with
- 36:45Speaker 5: assault after running onto a football field in the middle
- 36:48Speaker 5: of a game in tackling a middle school player. The
- 36:51Speaker 5: videos here, I just shared it on ex to Clinton
- 36:53Speaker 5: body Shop x feed at Jake wim and literally it's
- 36:57Speaker 5: kind of a subscribe or excuse me described the again.
- 37:00Speaker 5: You can go watch it. The play is over, there's
- 37:03Speaker 5: a flag thrown and this girl runs out onto the
- 37:05Speaker 5: field and she literally tackles a player. And this girl
- 37:09Speaker 5: ain't big as nothing. Now, she's probably five three, five four,
- 37:13Speaker 5: maybe one hundred and ten pounds. She's wearing some shorts
- 37:17Speaker 5: and a you know, just a normal shirt, and she
- 37:18Speaker 5: literally runs out on the field, off the sideline, tackles
- 37:21Speaker 5: a guy. When the guy gets up, she pushes him
- 37:23Speaker 5: down again. They may need to suit this girl up.
- 37:26Speaker 5: This is I mean, he's a crazy, crazy video. I
- 37:30Speaker 5: don't think I've seen that. I mean, it's you know,
- 37:33Speaker 5: especially out of a female. But nonetheless something she didn't like.
- 37:36Speaker 5: She did it also real quickly, here's some other news
- 37:40Speaker 5: that's out here that we haven't gotten to. We'll get
- 37:43Speaker 5: into this in hour number three from Matt Zenitz. Former
- 37:47Speaker 5: LSU in current Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Jack Pyburn
- 37:51Speaker 5: has filed a lawsuit today against the NCAA seeking a
- 37:53Speaker 5: preliminary injunction that would give him the option to return
- 37:56Speaker 5: to college football, per reports obtained from several Chris Hummer
- 38:01Speaker 5: being one, as he is looking to get back on
- 38:04Speaker 5: the field. That's edge Jack Pyburn and current Tampa Bay
- 38:08Speaker 5: Buccaneers defensive end and again talking to some of the
- 38:11Speaker 5: coaches here a pearl about this and just talking shop.
- 38:14Speaker 5: You know, this puts teams in such a precarious situation
- 38:18Speaker 5: because Let's say he wants to come back to LSU.
- 38:21Speaker 5: He can come back to LSU. Well, LSU plays Clemson
- 38:24Speaker 5: in like ten days, So what would Lane Kiffin even
- 38:27Speaker 5: do with that? I mean, you're gonna have to cut somebody.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Do you have a spot that what the court system
- 38:32Speaker 5: has done this year has really I mean the mu
- 38:36Speaker 5: the waters already murky and mucky in college sports, but this,
- 38:40Speaker 5: this whole new rule has really just muddy the waters.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Also looking at some more Ben Garrett reports Zavian Harris
- 38:48Speaker 5: and they Kwon Wright are listed as well and wanting
- 38:51Speaker 5: to come back to LSU. I mean, right here at
- 38:54Speaker 5: the end. And I think what you're seeing though, is
- 38:56Speaker 5: guys that see the writing on the wall in the NFL.
- 39:00Speaker 5: They're in camps, they're probably gonna get cut, they're not
- 39:02Speaker 5: gonna make the fifty three man roster, and they know
- 39:05Speaker 5: they're not gonna get paid unless they get on a
- 39:07Speaker 5: practice squad. And that's pennies on the dollar compared to
- 39:09Speaker 5: what you could make in college. So they're wanting to
- 39:12Speaker 5: wanting to come back. Also, Adam Schefter reporting Giants claim
- 39:16Speaker 5: defensive tackle Ben Barton off waivers from the Jets. The
- 39:18Speaker 5: Dolphins released veteran kicker Zane Gonzalez, and the Falcons placed
- 39:23Speaker 5: a running back, Trey Sermon, on injured reserve. Our number
- 39:27Speaker 5: two is in the books, brought to you by the
- 39:28Speaker 5: Gurka Cigar Lounge, Adamyrastar and of course get by Gerka.
- 39:33Speaker 5: Shop around, get you some great cigars, take them to
- 39:35Speaker 5: the house, have them at the sportsbook at a Marastar our.
- 39:39Speaker 5: Three coming up next
- 40:17Speaker 3: S
