- 0:19Hey besties, what is up? Let me just say the
- 0:25weather in Wilmington has been amazing. It is
- 0:3082 degrees out today and sunny. And honestly,
- 0:34it's been that way every single day for the last
- 0:37few weeks. Now, it has been raining at night.
- 0:40That's super typical for the South for it to
- 0:42rain at night. And I'm never going to heat on
- 0:44a thunderstorm, especially when you're trying
- 0:46to sleep. I never sleep harder than when it's
- 0:49a thunderstorm. It's just once again, here's
- 0:52the word magical. It's just magical. So I live
- 0:56for it. It's fantastic. And with that, it keeps
- 0:59me outside. I look out the window and I go to
- 1:02be outside. And then outside, I'm like, if I
- 1:04could just live outside right now in this weather
- 1:06forever. Like Sunday, I went to the park to walk
- 1:11with this girl I know. Now, why we were at the
- 1:16park was to talk about the cult church because
- 1:18she was still going and she wanted to know why
- 1:20I left. So I had to spill the tea, which the
- 1:23tea should be coming your way next week, I believe.
- 1:26Oh, the weather in the park was so beautiful.
- 1:30It was just so beautiful. And then we sat down
- 1:33in the grass and talked, and I was like, it feels
- 1:36good to touch grass. I think all of us need to
- 1:39touch grass every once in a while. There's just
- 1:41something so nice about it. I have so much to
- 1:45do this week, though. I have my best friend Nikki's
- 1:47birthday coming up this weekend that I need to
- 1:50look at the details for. I have my friend Haley's
- 1:53birthday coming up next weekend and then starts
- 1:56the many weekends of weddings, which is going
- 1:59to be intense because once again, there's stuff
- 2:01happening behind the scenes in my life that I'm
- 2:03not ready to talk about just yet. But I had to
- 2:07get the ball rolling on some big things. I've
- 2:12got to and I'm just putting it off. So I don't
- 2:16know if it's a I'm trusting God or if it's a
- 2:19I'm just. really lazy or intimidated or whatever
- 2:23so I'll keep y 'all up to date on that once I'm
- 2:27ready to talk about it. Speaking of ready to
- 2:30talk about, let's talk about what's in. What
- 2:32is in is books, okay? And I'm talking specifically
- 2:38about Zodiac Academy. If you ever read Zodiac
- 2:41Academy, why didn't you put me on? And if you
- 2:44haven't read it, let me put you on. This book
- 2:48is series. It's a series. Honestly, I think it's
- 2:51like a 25 book series, I'm unsure. It's awesome.
- 2:55First book, I was like, what is this? One of
- 2:58my clients that's an English teacher recommended
- 3:00it and I was like, uh, here we go. But then I
- 3:04got into it and you go from like hating certain
- 3:08people into being obsessed with them by book
- 3:11like three or four. Uh, you never, I'm gonna
- 3:14warn you now, if you decide to pick up the book,
- 3:16you never catch a break. Never once it's not
- 3:19like the Sarah J Maas book where like all the
- 3:21action happens at the end No, the books start
- 3:24with action and they end with action and you
- 3:27always get left with a gasp of what is going
- 3:30to happen next I actually had to take breaks
- 3:33with other books in between to like give myself
- 3:36a mental break from the drama that was happening
- 3:41in the book, so let me just say 10 out 10 recommend
- 3:44I giggle out loud I gasp out loud um definitely
- 3:50gonna let you know too rated r for the smut like
- 3:54if you're gonna read it just be prepared rated
- 3:57r but the storyline is so good It's cheesy. There's
- 4:04some cheesy parts in there where I'm like, wow,
- 4:06what were you all going for? But the storyline
- 4:08itself, Chef's Kiss. Speaking of Sarah J Maas,
- 4:11if you haven't heard, let me be the first to
- 4:13tell you that she will be releasing two books
- 4:16in the next 365 days. So not just 2026, but also
- 4:222027. The first one is October. The next one
- 4:24is January, I think. So yay for us. We just continue
- 4:30to get to go on that roller coaster. um okay
- 4:33what is out oh gosh what is out i honestly there's
- 4:39always something there can always be something
- 4:42out give me just a second i have to think about
- 4:45this i got it bridal gift shopping um these girls
- 4:53are trying to make me go broke as a joke with
- 4:57the weddings that are coming my way for april
- 5:00the amount of bridal showers i've gone to the
- 5:03amount of gift buying i have to do the amount
- 5:04of dress buying i have to do and i'm not even
- 5:08in the wedding parties not even i was supposed
- 5:11to be in one of them i pulled out for personal
- 5:13reasons um but yeah i'm broke just broke that's
- 5:19all i have that's what's out buying gifts for
- 5:22wedding showers broke is a joke all right um
- 5:25that was like pulling teeth to figure out what
- 5:28was out. I'm sure there's so much more. Also,
- 5:31side note, what also is out is Keenan, my roommate's
- 5:34cat. Let me tell y 'all, Keenan has been the
- 5:38devil reincarnated while she's been on her trip.
- 5:42Okay? She got back yesterday, but while she's
- 5:45been on this trip, he has been. a naughty in
- 5:49every possible way that a cat can be naughty
- 5:52and all he does is yell at me and then he wants
- 5:54to snuggle me as if he didn't just yell at me
- 5:56for 10 minutes and we have had a war going on
- 5:59in the house he's had to go into his room many
- 6:02many times because of his behavior and he knows
- 6:05why so what's also out Kenan we're canceling
- 6:10Kenan Kenan doesn't know he's being canceled
- 6:12Kenan is officially canceled okay Now that that's
- 6:17off my chest, let's dive into this week's episode.
- 6:25Welcome back to part whatever of the Genealogy
- 6:29of Jesus because truthfully I have no idea what
- 6:33part we're on, but I do know we are picking up
- 6:36with King Asa. This King's story starts in 1
- 6:39Kings chapter 15 verse 9 where Asa did all that
- 6:43was right in the eyes of God. He reigned 41 years,
- 6:47got rid of the cult male prostitutes, he removed
- 6:50the idols his father had made, and even removed
- 6:53his mom from being Queen Mother because she had
- 6:55had false idols images made as well. He was getting
- 7:00Israel back on track, one might say. And even
- 7:03though he did three huge things, he still allowed
- 7:07the high places of the idols to stay up according
- 7:10to Kings, but according to Chronicles, they say
- 7:18that he actually took them down. So that's up
- 7:20in the air. But King Asa's heart was fully God's,
- 7:23all the days that he lived on this earth. There
- 7:26were 10 years of no war while he began his reign
- 7:29as king, and he spent that time well, fortifying
- 7:32the cities within Judah. bringing back the laws
- 7:36of the commandments of Moses, and he claimed
- 7:39in 2 Chronicles chapter 14 verse 7, because they
- 7:44sought God, they had peace on every side. Eventually
- 7:48war did break out against Israel and Judah again,
- 7:52as always, and it is said that the king who ruled
- 7:55over Israel made them sin. I also just want to
- 7:59say in the 41 years of Esau, reigning, Israel
- 8:03went through seven different kings and I personally
- 8:06think that shows what a red flag they were. Just
- 8:09saying, like a girl with bad choices and boyfriends,
- 8:13they did the same things with their kings. There
- 8:16isn't much to say about Asa, except he seems
- 8:19to be an alright guy. His story shows us that
- 8:22our parents' lives and stories don't have to
- 8:24be the blueprint for ours. His story shows us
- 8:27that it's never too late to come back to God
- 8:29or try again and that God is waiting there for
- 8:32us. Now, after Asa, his son Jehoshaphat took
- 8:37his father's place as king at the ripe age of
- 8:4135. and was king for like 25 years. He did everything
- 8:48his daddy -o did and even made peace with Israel
- 8:51and went into business with the king of Israel,
- 8:54who once again was doing evil in the sights of
- 8:56God. Because of that, we see them get prophesied
- 9:01over in 2 Chronicles chapter 20 verse 37. and
- 9:07they're told that God is working against them
- 9:09and that their business venture will epically
- 9:12fail, which obviously it does. I think all we
- 9:17can say for Jehoshaphat is that the kid did good
- 9:19until the end. Making peace with Israel was a
- 9:22good thing, but he didn't have to become friends
- 9:24with the king and go into business with him.
- 9:27We can have peace with bad people, but we don't
- 9:30need to be friends with them. Let's just be clear.
- 9:34Let's pick up in 2 Chronicles verses 21 verse
- 9:391 through 7. Feel free to read with me. This
- 9:43is the ESV version. I do want to point out that
- 9:46each version of the Bible will write the names
- 9:50down differently or pronounce them differently.
- 9:53So if you're jumping back between different versions,
- 9:57the names and the genealogy of Jesus might show
- 9:59up a little different. Just a warning. Okay,
- 10:03so verse 1, starting, Jehoshaphat slept with
- 10:08his fathers and was buried with his fathers in
- 10:10the city of David. In Jeruam his son reigned
- 10:14in his place. He had brothers, and the sons of
- 10:18Jehoshaphat, Azra, Jael, Zechariah, Aziel, Michael,
- 10:24and Shephata, all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat
- 10:29king of Israel. Their father gave them great
- 10:32gifts of silver and gold and valuable possessions,
- 10:36together with fortified cities and Judah, but
- 10:39he gave the kingdom to Jerome because he was
- 10:43the firstborn. When Jerome had ascended to the
- 10:46throne of his father and was established, he
- 10:48killed all his brothers with a sword and also
- 10:51some of the princes of Israel. Jerome was 32
- 10:54years old when he became king and he reigned
- 10:578 years in Jerusalem. he walked in the ways of
- 11:01the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had
- 11:04done. For the daughter of Ahab was his wife,
- 11:07and he did what was evil in the sight of God.
- 11:10Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house
- 11:13of David because of the covenant he had made
- 11:16with David, and since he had promised to give
- 11:18a lamp to him and to his sons forever. Okay,
- 11:23we see a few things go down. It's very telenovela
- 11:26style. Jerroam becomes king after his dad dies.
- 11:31He knows his dad gave gifts to his brothers.
- 11:34No openly known beef was between him and his
- 11:36brothers, but he has them all slaughtered and
- 11:40some other kids too. He followed the lead of
- 11:43the kings of Israel, which by now we all know
- 11:46isn't a good thing and his wifey was from the
- 11:48family of the supposed enemy. We see here also
- 11:52God's grace and commitment to his promise to
- 11:54David. Even though God is pissed, he is not going
- 11:58to take it out on the whole line of David, which
- 12:00is basically Jerome, because he's king and he
- 12:03made sure he was basically the last man standing.
- 12:06After this, Edom, which is Esau's people, go
- 12:09to war with Judah, and a lot of other people
- 12:11also go to war with Judah. And then God sends
- 12:14a message, well, a letter to Jerome from Elijah
- 12:19in verses 12 through 15. And let's read what
- 12:23that letter says. Thus says the LORD, the God
- 12:27of David your father, because you have not walked
- 12:29in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in
- 12:31the ways of Asa king of Judah, but have walked
- 12:35in the ways of the kings of Israel, and have
- 12:37enticed Judah and the habitants of Jerusalem
- 12:40into whoredom, as the house of Ahab led Israel
- 12:44into whoredom, and also you have killed your
- 12:47brothers of your father's house, who were better
- 12:49than you. Behold, the Lord will bring a great
- 12:53plague on your people, your children, your wives,
- 12:56and all your possessions, and you yourself will
- 12:58have a severe sickness with the disease of your
- 13:01bowels until your bowels come out because of
- 13:05the disease day by day. First off, let's just
- 13:09say that sounds like some southern mama curse
- 13:11being put on someone. Like, I can picture a few
- 13:14of my friends' moms lagging their head back and
- 13:16forth letting you know what is up. But... being
- 13:20back on track we see that that is just what happens
- 13:22they go to war he gets sick all of his children
- 13:25and wives get taken away well except for one
- 13:28child and he suffers a long and slow death and
- 13:33verse 20 says he was 32 years old when he began
- 13:37to reign and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem
- 13:40and he departed with no one's regret So like,
- 13:44literally nobody missed this man, and then they
- 13:46buried him in the city of David, but not in the
- 13:49tombs of the kings. That's on period. God said,
- 13:53ain't no way you're being late to rest with my
- 13:56favorites. Jehoaz, his youngest son, was the
- 14:00one that got left behind in the siege, and he
- 14:03is the one who becomes king next, so we will
- 14:06pick up with him next time. So, who was Jerome?
- 14:12He was a follower, not a leader. He didn't follow
- 14:15his father about, as he should have. Nope, he
- 14:18followed his friends, the kings of Israel, who
- 14:21really didn't have anything going for them. He
- 14:23got wrecked by God, sick, family stripped away,
- 14:27and the worst of it is when he died. He didn't
- 14:30just not get buried with the other kings, so
- 14:33no place of honor for him. But no one missed
- 14:36this man so much that no one missed him that
- 14:39they had to literally write it down in history.
- 14:41But God, our always favorite saying, but God
- 14:46kept his promise. He kept the line of David going
- 14:48as king. He saved Judah from an awful king and
- 14:52showed justice against the wicked. Our God is
- 14:55a promise keeper even when we aren't. And that
- 14:59is the end for part 9 of the Genealogy of Jesus.
