- 2:03And that's a lovely voice. By the way, I'll II for yours
- 2:07was delightfully. On both of us were completely in
- 2:09two. Yes, that's always high.
- 2:12We talked about this episode. I've got a question for you.
- 2:15Yeah I'm gonna hold you to toss now young man.
- 2:20Okay. How old are you?
- 2:21By the way? 26, I'm so sorry.
- 2:25I said you look 12. I'm really lost on Gallifrey.
- 2:31Yes, that's my podcast. Where Have You Been?
- 2:34Yeah, we've been, we've both been moving house and saw.
- 2:39An admin, very boring stuff. I think it also doesn't help.
- 2:43The Doctor Who's quite quiet, isn't it?
- 2:45So yeah, right buyer, we're chipping you in charge, we don't
- 2:48hear nothing. You got lesser incentives and
- 2:51sort of squeeze things in, but we'll be back next week.
- 2:55I think, is this going out this week, Joe, this will be going
- 2:58out very soon, actually. Yeah, so we'll be back this week
- 3:01with a bigger battle episode of Vengeance on various forces,
- 3:05revelation of the Daleks, I, we haven't recorded yet.
- 3:09I have no idea which one wins, you know what, as well?
- 3:12I love both of those stories. That would be a gradual.
- 3:14I listened to one of your, my other office moving in.
- 3:17We put on an episode, a Christmas special episode that
- 3:20you did, where you was choosing, random stories and you, and your
- 3:24guests will just go giving your opinion on random stories.
- 3:27Yeah. The randomizer, what I thought
- 3:29everybody was incredible in that except my of Wrath, which Edna
- 3:33fuck all to say about anything, but he didn't like the tenth
- 3:38planet, remember, right? Because I I'm not big on the
- 3:4010th funny but, and Iva. Yeah, I know.
- 3:45Well, he's wrong. I would like to do another
- 3:47randomizer episode, actually and get you all.
- 3:50Thank you. Don't know what I was going now.
- 3:52It's pushing for an invite. Yeah, I could sense it and it
- 3:56what? I remember it being a really
- 3:57good episode, it just took a fair bit of editing.
- 4:00Any any, any episode that takes that inputs will get a fabulous
- 4:04quiz at the end and I every time I got so I write I jumped out
- 4:07the chair with excitement. Yeah, we need to bring quizzes
- 4:11back again. I think it's just it's just a
- 4:13laziness thing but this this battle episode and I've not told
- 4:17you off camera. What it is it has got a big
- 4:19surprise in it. That's got a big as my God.
- 4:23You've not in Eric's Award of yeah it's just can't say
- 4:25anything. You dug him up.
- 4:27He's got one of his still with us and Erik is a warm July right
- 4:30now. I was watching a special feature
- 4:36and he was on the TV. When Rachel walked in the other
- 4:39day, he's my other half and she was like Ice-T doesn't look well
- 4:43that's like Rachel. It's Eric's award are The Vedas.
- 4:48Well, I've honestly no these are nice gentle tone to his voice
- 4:53for someone. He loves killing characters.
- 4:56So please you stop issei. What I was about to say that
- 4:58because that could have been the finger.
- 4:59Got be cancelled. So, thank you.
- 5:03But listen, we are here today to talk about the rings of akhaten
- 5:07or a carton or I've heard it's a it's not a carton Luke, I don't
- 5:13think this episode is very popular with anyone but your me.
- 5:18Yeah, it's very strange, actually.
- 5:20So I've just, I've got the Doctor Who first 50 years, pull
- 5:23up and let people do their research.
- 5:26You know, this, this is the lowest rated Matt Smith episode,
- 5:31which is a crime. Crime.
- 5:32I mean are you sure? But let's kill Hitler and some
- 5:37other bollocks. I'm a huge.
- 5:39Matt Swift fan across all the services and Eva but there are a
- 5:43lot worse episode to do exactly in my opinion.
- 5:47So if you get very annoyed, if you ever listen to Hansel blunt
- 5:50penknife and get annoyed with me, I suggest you listen to my
- 5:53town called Mercy episode. That's going out shortly.
- 5:55You know, where I have nothing, but praise for Matt Smith, Karen
- 5:58Gillan and Steven Moffat. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:01Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 6:01You were seven. Fountain on?
- 6:03Yeah, I know. Yeah, I realize have an i and I
- 6:06think is pushing against a lot of walks, even Market does
- 6:08elsewhere, which is what I really like it.
- 6:10Yeah, it's like back to. So, it's Back to Basics in a
- 6:14way, isn't it after Series 6 and stuff?
- 6:17But yeah, this is sat between the dominators and the Space
- 6:22Museum and I like the space very soon as well.
- 6:25But I think what I want to take a bit further because above the
- 6:29rings of acted on this list is Mega gloss.
- 6:32The Kings demons. Oh my God, this sensor is who's
- 6:35choosing so actually stories over there.
- 6:37Exactly the same. All right, well, actually, I'm
- 6:39that's how wonder why people hate this?
- 6:41But I shall put this out to Twitter, you know, and quite a
- 6:43few people told me why they hated this episode.
- 6:46Okay, I did see this go out. So in fact, there was a very
- 6:51contentious conversation between Jason Thompson and somebody else
- 6:54or for all my god. I've started World War 3 over
- 6:56the rings of accent. But I do remember watching this
- 7:01when it went out. Just spoke about this off offer,
- 7:04but I remember watching this video right now and thinking,
- 7:07oh, what a solid good episode and I'm going on, Twitter are
- 7:11very optimistic, very happy as a seventeen-year-old.
- 7:15I've been absolutely like a gas that the reaction.
- 7:18Did you learn nothing from Helen Rana who went on to Gallifrey
- 7:22base after episodes went out and started reading the reviews.
- 7:25Yeah. I've always got afraid base
- 7:27because I have the same reaction and honest to God the victory.
- 7:30Although the poison it was coming out of that, head side
- 7:34that side, I was like 11, that bad and I had a bit of a, I
- 7:40thought Clara was very dull when the bells of Saint John.
- 7:43There's just nothing to her and then I watch this and I thought
- 7:46this is a character with a lot of potential.
- 7:48She's very sweet and she's kind of variegated other.
- 7:52I actually think this is one of the few times where they Ace her
- 7:56character in terms of writing and performance.
- 8:00Yeah, I think I agree especially 7 be like if we're talking like
- 8:06not annoying Clara because she she is weird because I do like
- 8:11the later versions even though it's basically a different
- 8:14character. I but in 7B, especially when
- 8:17she's a bit 2D it's the Neil cross episodes that flesh out
- 8:23the most. I think this one that better
- 8:26than hide that I think this is her best of the series and this
- 8:29probably digs into To like a family history as well.
- 8:32And so yeah, I don't I really don't see.
- 8:37Matt why? And, and I think of it often
- 8:39like a really exciting location with lots of aliens and yeah, I
- 8:44know, you know, it is a bit camp and a bit silly, but news flash
- 8:48Doctor Who's been camping silly for quite some time, but I
- 8:51didn't think it was though. I mean I can sort of see points
- 8:55now but at the time I just I didn't think it was count and
- 8:59silly. No, do you think I'm coming
- 9:00easily. Yeah.
- 9:03Slightly walk outside fast. Like maybe got filter on.
- 9:06You can't seek a silly but obviously you can.
- 9:09Yeah I said I mean I'll get into it when we watched it but
- 9:13there's a lot of stuff. A lot of like conveniences and
- 9:16stupid things that happen throughout this episode that
- 9:21would annoy in any other episode.
- 9:24I don't know what it is about this one where I wouldn't change
- 9:27it. I wouldn't change anything about
- 9:28it. I think this is one of the The
- 9:30few Steven Moffat episodes that really made me feel something
- 9:35and there's something extraordinary that happens just
- 9:38after Matt. Smith's, brilliant speech, at
- 9:40the end of this with Smith and Coleman's performances which
- 9:46I'll talk about when we get there.
- 9:48But the sort of how delicately handled the emotion is towards
- 9:54the end of this episode. I think it's masterful.
- 9:56Yeah, yeah, it's it's a classic. I Sick Mafia era and it's at its
- 10:03best, really? And we'll get into all the leaf
- 10:05stuff. I don't see why people have got
- 10:07a problem with the leaf. It baffles me so much, because
- 10:11we have, we basically have a leaf in every episode of Doctor
- 10:15Who to resolve the plot. I think, you know what?
- 10:18Well, I'm going to ask you about your armor off now.
- 10:20Okay. Yeah.
- 10:22This is the, the Doctor Who commentary and I'm nervous, how
- 10:25should I know? You could probably if you looked
- 10:33very closely to find a decision or something that happened that
- 10:39brought the two of you together. Yeah.
- 10:41And I love stuff like that. I love moments and the how that
- 10:46affects like your entire life and stuff.
- 10:49So there's the whole thing with the leaf does appeal to me.
- 10:52Excuse me. I'm but I'm actually asking you
- 10:54can you think of the okay, well I suppose you got a bit of a
- 10:59cheat Because we were put into you the holes together we use.
- 11:03So we were opposite each other so that's almost fate is there
- 11:09but I deny you couldn't miss each other a lot.
- 11:11You obviously chose to go to the Loo at one point and then there
- 11:14you saw is perfect. Yeah we I mean we live in
- 11:18literally opposite sides of the hallway.
- 11:23What would there have been a moment?
- 11:25I don't know. I love.
- 11:26Ah, I like the idea that it is but obviously it's a series of
- 11:29decisions and things coming together.
- 11:30And that's what they're saying in.
- 11:31This is like some random thing happened.
- 11:34And it brought two people to go - like an Android Invasion for
- 11:37god sakes, you know. Yeah.
- 11:40I think actually before. So I went to Leeds University
- 11:44but I was quite set on going to York and then changed my mind.
- 11:49So that side that would be down there.
- 11:51So it maybe it was the brochure or something like that.
- 11:53But your mum or just the day or the, the lecture that was in
- 11:57your birthday that didn't appeal for your.
- 11:59So, you know, tiny, Insist, we need help.
- 12:01We need to find what that thing was right, because then that is
- 12:04sentimental currency. That's worth a fortune on a
- 12:06curtain. Yeah man.
- 12:11Anyway, we've got up and I'm a diversion for even started.
- 12:17What I'll do is I will a lot of people answered that.
- 12:20Twitter question, and we will dig into that, but let's do that
- 12:25after we've won. Yeah, let's do it at the end.
- 12:27So our import our opinions on the most important thing here.
- 12:30Yes. Okay.
- 12:32All right. So we start then I'm ready.
- 12:35Well, what what are you counters in?
- 12:36Okay, great 21. Here we got leaves blowing
- 12:45leaves humming all day. There's like a like the jazzy
- 12:50music here as well. When he falls into the road.
- 12:54Do we know what it is? No.
- 12:56Are we didn't get that much research and good job.
- 13:00That's a quiz question. Question of how this the the
- 13:04stalker element? Yes, a bit / V in it.
- 13:07I don't know. I like this thing.
- 13:09I like you. Like doctor being a bit pervy.
- 13:13Okay. No, actually, I think.
- 13:20Is it is a bit with and it is a bit Sinister, and the doctor
- 13:24shouldn't be all good. So I quite like it and I don't
- 13:28think you'd get a coastal tenant doing this.
- 13:30It's quite a Matt Smith thing, isn't it?
- 13:34Yeah, it is. And this whole thing about sort
- 13:39of seeing Clara at various stages of her life, Moffitt did
- 13:42that in the go, in the fireplace with brunette, you obviously did
- 13:45it with Amy Pond in the eleventh hour is.
- 13:46Yeah, it's a way of abbreviating getting to know that person and
- 13:52their history, you know? Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 13:57Okay, this is this is quite bulky dialogue, but II like, Oh,
- 14:02I like that the theme of it, you know.
- 14:05It is. It's very pretty, you are so
- 14:08sorry. It's like that because that is
- 14:10very pretty. So, as a moment yeah, no wonder
- 14:13Jenna Coleman turned out slow. But I did, you know, is that the
- 14:18shock of the mother's death was so traumatic that when he came
- 14:23back in the Time of the Doctor, he looked like a completely
- 14:26different person. Person.
- 14:29Yeah very good. Just shut up Joe.
- 14:34Alright, this is strange isn't it in retrospect?
- 14:40Because you can't see the series 9 Clara growing up like this but
- 14:45in 7B, this is very much like her origin.
- 14:49Yeah. What if I think what happened is
- 14:53in series a they basically said this character isn't working
- 14:57Yeah, especially the page one rewrite.
- 14:59So we get control, fully control freak, Clara do it seriously.
- 15:02And when she comes out with that, in deep breath, I remember
- 15:05being like, what it's rain, where were you?
- 15:08A control freak and then we get risk-taker Clara and series 9,
- 15:11don't we? Yeah.
- 15:13But that said, that one makes sense.
- 15:14Naturally I suppose from Theory. Oh yeah.
- 15:20I think that, you know, Cara was Clara.
- 15:23Sorry. Clara, I've had a bit too much
- 15:25June already. You know how she was splintered?
- 15:30Yes. Jumped into that, wibbly wobbly.
- 15:32Oh, she came out a different character.
- 15:34Think each season, we're just watching a different Multiverse
- 15:38of Clara. My, oh yeah, she's changing each
- 15:40time. I can't, we'll send some, the
- 15:42fact that Steven Moffat car. Remember how he wrote it CID,
- 15:47like all this stalking? They, she's not going to make
- 15:54sure my doors and windows are well boat.
- 15:56It's a night. It's just, I don't know.
- 15:58It just adds a little bit more Edge to the doctor, even if it's
- 16:01maybe a bit weird, but it cost me at least is about, you know,
- 16:05should know, the skirt line is too far.
- 16:07That's not this episode. It's fine.
- 16:09Very strange, very stiff. It's a strange thing.
- 16:12But and I will you know, I will still comment on thing.
- 16:16I do like about this here and the overly sexualized.
- 16:18Dogs are I did just like you told Ade view like Matt Smith
- 16:24and Clara in 7B as Boyfriend, the girlfriend like nothing
- 16:28serious, but just the boy for the good that sort of our it's
- 16:31played the whole time. Well, I'll tell you what I do
- 16:34much, thank because, when he turns up naked in Time of the
- 16:36Doctor, she ain't never seen that.
- 16:37Before she ever that, that's the new Splinter isn't it?
- 16:40Okay. I did it with skip.
- 16:44Past the the gravestone of a mum.
- 16:48He died on yes. The transmission Dave Rose,
- 16:53there's theories that her mum died in the author on a tack.
- 16:57Oh I know that's what they should have.
- 17:00They should have put a in there. Yeah, it would have been quite
- 17:03cool. Can I just say this?
- 17:07I think the Capaldi version is even better but this console
- 17:10room. I think it's the best new series
- 17:11console room. Yeah, I'm always torn.
- 17:15I do really like Matt Smith, first.
- 17:16One. I know people think it's a bit
- 17:18gimmicky and by, but I like how that chrome and glass one.
- 17:22Yeah, the love that. You know, it's late.
- 17:26But I think this probably is hands down.
- 17:30Probably subjectively the best console room of all time.
- 17:34It's It's really this. There's like tons of practical
- 17:37Lighting in there. There's lots of nooks and
- 17:38crannies to film in. I thought, every where the
- 17:41camera goes. It feels like a different room.
- 17:43Yeah, it's it's got so much space and by the time, capacity
- 17:47comes in and he said, walking along the top and you circle
- 17:50around and you get to lay in the direct and it just looks
- 17:54stunning. It is this taking its cue from
- 17:56the end of the world? Yes.
- 17:58Second episode for Clara. Yes.
- 18:01He's that crazy Place full of wacky aliens.
- 18:04She's Of going I want to go somewhere also a bit like rose.
- 18:06Did the difference is is Rose was you know shocked and had a
- 18:12hell of a lot of Clara takes all this in US Fried in this
- 18:15episode. Well that the other difference
- 18:17is Rose was introduced that for an entire new audience.
- 18:21Where's at this point we're all used to and yeah.
- 18:25So the companion has to sort of take it easier that shot, I
- 18:30mean, come on that shot of Akutan there, but there are on
- 18:33Twitter this So it looks cheap. What, what I think this is the
- 18:40most beautiful world best planet in all of dr.
- 18:44Raza Doctor Who would get down on his hands and knees and weep
- 18:46for a visual like that. Oh my God, it's just stunning,
- 18:50it's believable. You see that bit over there?
- 18:54I think that's the all away. So sorry, I'll help myself.
- 19:00Okay, so what do you think about the whole sort of well building
- 19:06that goes on here? Yeah, I mean it's quick and it's
- 19:12quite cheap, but I think dr. Like the World building itself,
- 19:15but I think it doctor who doesn't do alien worlds that
- 19:18often that, it's almost always a treat when it happens.
- 19:22I think that buys it a lot in my book because I can't think of
- 19:26another time, really apart from the end of the world and the web
- 19:29planet that I get vibes like this.
- 19:31Well, where it's really exhausting, yeah, which proper
- 19:34explicitly and then Think it I mean, the, you know, the masks
- 19:39in our great and stuff, but it's Doctor Who I didn't want, I
- 19:43absolutely loved. You see the Tardis set of in
- 19:46that little Nook in the market. Yeah, similar thing in snake
- 19:49dance. They do the similar thing in
- 19:51turn left, it's very snake dance, isn't it?
- 19:53And I just like the, that's a sort of it when I go traveling.
- 19:56I like finding these weird bazaars and things like that,
- 19:59because we're very excited. Yeah, these monsters that are
- 20:02the alien. See, like lists off now.
- 20:05I quite like A fast, the keyboard, the hooloovoo, the
- 20:10lyric Rush, what my God, my keyboard, hang on, the num
- 20:17locks, there you go, that's almost breaks.
- 20:23Oh, I love his confidence, it on and he mentioned Susan here.
- 20:26Doesn't it as well? Well, yeah, so I used to love
- 20:29this and stuff and be every episode has a different
- 20:32reference to like the, an old doctor.
- 20:36So it starts Here and then like you get the, the had some cold
- 20:39war. You get a metal base 3 and hide.
- 20:42I think Jenny says it's our, this is just a reference in
- 20:45itself to base your time and then you get Tegan in in Crimson
- 20:50Horror. So every episode like references
- 20:52are a doctor which was quite nice in the build-up to the
- 20:5650th. What is that strange blue orb
- 20:58that? She's don't know, but I love it.
- 21:00I want to try it, don't you? Yeah, I'll try anything me.
- 21:04Oh my God. You see that?
- 21:05Hey you behind there? History.
- 21:07The one with the long arms. Yeah.
- 21:10Yeah. I don't think he would.
- 21:12I don't think it was that because it was very slim.
- 21:14I think about it. Sorry Rob.
- 21:15I love be smoking to see she pipe in the background.
- 21:18There may be in them. Aliens over there and I love
- 21:21this. I really like this is exactly if
- 21:29I was hoping the time. Oh, look how he tickles.
- 21:36Her chin is gorgeous, you know. It just has this like, Wonder
- 21:42lost energy, doesn't it? I could said I even though I can
- 21:46like recognize that that's probably a BBC set and these
- 21:49are, you know, people in masks, I can buy it so much.
- 21:53Like look, there, you've got things going on to the right
- 21:55there. We've come at, you got it.
- 21:56Got, then we'll smoking the pipe up.
- 21:59I love it. It's Lots going.
- 22:01I compared this summer. Like the Beast below which I
- 22:03think does Of cheap I think they had like a similar sort of
- 22:06markets team there but I felt like a where else but yeah, it's
- 22:09empty, isn't it? The peaceful a this is all
- 22:12vibrant and colorful and full of life?
- 22:14Yes. Yeah, I think it looks amazing.
- 22:19I want to know how my God, these ones here, right with the lights
- 22:22on their faces. Yeah.
- 22:23No funny because, you know, when they go to the where the she's
- 22:26singing merry galel singing and they're obviously super imposing
- 22:30these people, you know, a hundred times to make it look
- 22:33around you just See that those lit up faces there there there.
- 22:38It's actually proposed it so many times.
- 22:41It's fabulous. I'm sure Paul.
- 22:43I've never paused it in like looked out.
- 22:45I saw what to do that. I won't do it now.
- 22:50As she gets sick lie gets like 10 minutes now and she's on her
- 22:53own. The doctor just pisses off and
- 22:56she gets 10 minutes to sort of explain why she's going to be a
- 23:00nice companion by taking a child.
- 23:03What she's going to do in that Rising isnt.
- 23:04She I've seeking out a character from that location getting close
- 23:08to them helping them out. Yeah, I don't know what the
- 23:11doctors did and this time he's just like he's just being
- 23:16basically stalking her to make sure she's not.
- 23:19Just seen the aliens 49. He's popped in for a little
- 23:21while Clara. Oh hey she is my God.
- 23:25I know I think some people have a lot of objection to this
- 23:27episode just because of this little girl you know who let's
- 23:30be honest is not the best actress or a singer in the
- 23:32world. I think she's good but she's
- 23:34lovely Island. She must be like 10.
- 23:39Yeah. Need I remind you, this is the
- 23:41half season the game as Angie and Artie.
- 23:43Well exactly I can think of a lot worse.
- 23:47Chowder. Next year, we could imagine what
- 23:48that From in the forest of the night.
- 23:51Geez, Louise. Now, I'll tell you, Miracle all
- 23:54over them any day. Yeah, I mean, she feels like a
- 23:58character that's it. Don't forget it.
- 24:00She sings. Well that's fun loves the long
- 24:02song. She sings better than we did at
- 24:04the beginning of this episode that's for sure.
- 24:08Did you ever hear that version of the long song that Emily cook
- 24:10put together all the fans singing I did all that deal for
- 24:15that was lovely. I was Pete Rock down ones nose.
- 24:18Hmm. Awesome.
- 24:19Fabulous things going on there as well, so she supposed to sing
- 24:23forever until she died. The idea is, the song goes on
- 24:27forever. Isn't it?
- 24:28Otherwise Granville away? No, it doesn't.
- 24:30She come back every Like 50 years, or something sir to sing,
- 24:35but then it won't be her with it actually 50s.
- 24:38Not much of a job, I do. But I suppose, this is a problem
- 24:40with the story is that it very much feels like it's being made
- 24:45up as it goes along somehow, it manages to like, field career.
- 24:49And in my head I feel like if you kind of look at the nuts and
- 24:52bolts of it, it's been really well for fruit.
- 24:54But because we sort of go from one location to another where we
- 24:57were another things revealed you're right.
- 24:59It's got this sort of improvised feel.
- 25:01Yeah. Yeah, slightly.
- 25:03These robot the whispery voices. They look just like the ones
- 25:08that have underworld see thing. Yeah, you know, with the masks
- 25:13on. Yeah.
- 25:14Yeah. Yeah.
- 25:15I've got three red eyes though. Not quite as creepy.
- 25:18Those I really like the vigil, it's a shame.
- 25:21How the don't do anything, because I think the design and
- 25:24the way they walk and you the whisper that's got its got legs
- 25:28for a monster. I really like how as story
- 25:33progresses the threat gets bigger, reminds me of the war
- 25:38games. Obviously you start with the
- 25:48people in the second world war setting, their the villains, and
- 25:51then you get like the Warchief and then you get the warlord and
- 25:55then you get the timers. And as the story progresses the
- 25:59the villains get Bigger and bigger bigger in here.
- 26:00You start with the vigil, then you get grandfather, and then
- 26:04you get a whole fucking planet. Yeah.
- 26:06Basically. Grandfather's alarm clock is
- 26:08that it's the, it's the thing in the Box.
- 26:11Let the makeup on grandfather is fantastic.
- 26:14Yeah, I figured that. That annoys people doesn't it
- 26:17that that wasn't the villain because it's, alright, I think
- 26:20some people wanted that to be a cone Ian for some reason.
- 26:24Do they look like I've never thought of that ever?
- 26:27Now that you know I read out to you later But it does actually
- 26:31sort of look like what doesn't it?
- 26:33Hmm. Can I just say the idea of
- 26:36sentimental currency, I think is delightful.
- 26:40I think that's such a great idea.
- 26:41Yes, I sell, it's almost not done enough it in this episode,
- 26:46it's that you could base properly the episode of armor
- 26:49and we genuinely keep things that have a lot of meaning like
- 26:54sentimental. You don't we, yeah, we just see
- 26:57what if that was our currency nowadays, I'll be a rich.
- 26:59Umm, and things around me right now, Loosely Montage to the
- 27:05back, there are things around me, but I won't bore you with
- 27:11the books and pulls out a dildo. It's the Tardis.
- 27:31Honestly we want to talk about that.
- 27:36Okay, so what is pretty small? Why is it all this?
- 27:43Not like Clara is it because she's this space-time event, or
- 27:47because she's the hybrid little part of the hybrid, there's you
- 27:52could factor into many different things.
- 27:54I think it's probably meant to be that real oak on forgot that
- 27:58Ploy even existed. The hybrid, it's a strange sort
- 28:03of story because it never comes to anything and that's not like
- 28:08moth, is it? He know any of that happens.
- 28:10A lot in seven though. Series 7.
- 28:12I feel like he's teasing story arcs but then his whole point of
- 28:17Series 7 was to be Standalone so it keeps doing little things but
- 28:21then pull himself back babies. That's it.
- 28:23That's that's his trick. This year is I'm going to make
- 28:25you think this is important is actually nothing.
- 28:27Yeah I mean there's the light bulbs in Isn't that much otaku?
- 28:31Mercy, never light bulbs are flickering.
- 28:33And yeah, like, that was like I love my father was nailed on but
- 28:38then obviously nothing I was going to get into in a minute
- 28:41because she says about getting scones in the Lake District, but
- 28:45there was a big Lake District conspiracy.
- 28:47At the time, they went on to BBC Radio Cumbria because they'd
- 28:51mentioned it three times in four episodes of Doctor Who and it
- 28:55net. The Lake District of Columbia.
- 28:56Never be mentioned in Doctor. Who before, or after, I thank
- 29:00my. Was there a conspiracy?
- 29:01No but I don't know in my head I was thinking like oh maybe the
- 29:05name of the doctors set in Windermere.
- 29:08I don't know but because bells of Saint John.
- 29:12He's in a monastery and Cumbria and then she said something
- 29:15about going to the scones in Lake District in this, and then
- 29:18in hide, she mentions Carlisle and then that was it.
- 29:21So, if this comes off a bit like, little teasers of themes
- 29:25and also, this is at the point when we watched dr.
- 29:29Moffitt Sahay with like trying to find every little pixel thing
- 29:33as well is that in series one in this exercise year like we
- 29:38didn't know what we were going to get and obviously bad wolf
- 29:41was teased For That season. We're at a point now where the
- 29:43people right in the show know the fans are looking for this
- 29:46stuff. Yeah.
- 29:47And Moffat is just playful enough to have some fun with
- 29:50that. Yeah, in love sir.
- 29:53Is that massive Arena where I can see what you need that
- 29:56delightful? Yeah, this is fellow.
- 29:59Rag with these weird sort of Carnival lips paid on and he's
- 30:03in about 12 places as well. Yes, yeah.
- 30:06JLo, like I like the idea of the being, like, flatterfit is,
- 30:14right? I know it's stupid but the idea
- 30:16of you literally reaching a point on the earth for you could
- 30:19step off and then I don't know for and that's what this looks
- 30:22like. It looks like you could just
- 30:23step off our concern and for I had to know that feel so alien
- 30:28and wonderful. The enough jeans, you know,
- 30:31before to just been in that state where all of the earth.
- 30:36Oh, here she goes. Come on, Mary kalau.
- 30:40You don't get it Wrong. Mary, yeah, you're gonna wake up
- 30:42grandfather and then there's going to be a bloody angry
- 30:44Planet coming out, as look, these visuals.
- 30:48Also like the, you know, how alien it is.
- 30:51It's not just the aliens and the CGI, the idea of she's singing
- 30:55to then keep someone at rest and the sentiment of currency that
- 30:59so It did really gone all out to try and do something really
- 31:03different and I just think in terms I'll go back to those
- 31:06cheap thing again. They're get they've given us a
- 31:08real sense of scale. We've been to a Marketplace
- 31:11we're in an arena. Now we're seeing like a whole
- 31:14whole other planets like this has a scale to it.
- 31:17Yeah. It's still talk to, who is never
- 31:20good doctor, who is never gonna have the skate.
- 31:23The the visual Splendor of something like the Mandalorian.
- 31:25It's just never going to happen. I don't know.
- 31:27I don't still want it to. It was spoiling it looses Roost
- 31:31on the I like the fact that William Hartnell and Carolyn
- 31:33Ford at one point were marching down that market, you know,
- 31:37having a job. Yes.
- 31:37Yeah. But someone could do a lovely
- 31:42heart work if that you know I would love together.
- 31:46So please do that please. Don't know some very creative
- 31:48people that listen To this thing.
- 31:49Yeah. That would be so lovely to see.
- 31:52Okay. So what to superimpose them into
- 31:54a picture? This bit with like that's me for
- 31:59the glasses on. And he's, you know, if telling
- 32:02Clara about the culture of it, I think this is brilliant.
- 32:05This is like Doctor, Who is most like this is what he does.
- 32:08He comes to planets, and he just gets involved and he explores it
- 32:12and he looks so doctor. It's unbelievable.
- 32:15It's fantastic. And, you know, they kind of
- 32:17losses in 7B I feel like he dumped evolving to their series
- 32:21of sort of ticks and quirks, but here, it's spawn.
- 32:24And during The Bitter Love, The Bitter feels much doctors to me.
- 32:28It's where he starts singing. A really shit.
- 32:30I hear ya like, like, I don't know if this was a Disney movie
- 32:39burst into song and maybe the best person there but he's
- 32:41Doctor Who and he's a bit shit. Yeah, yeah.
- 32:45It's it's just great and it and it's got so much time to
- 32:48Breathe. I mean she's been single for
- 32:50like two minutes though. Roar like everyone's just
- 32:53watching it. It feels like you are there on
- 32:57the planet because nothing's really happened yet until right
- 33:00now. Oh wow.
- 33:02Look at this guy in the red robes, he's loving it.
- 33:04He always reminds me of rumor from Red Dwarf.
- 33:06I just got could never shake it every time you're a total but
- 33:10it's make head or some of these ideas are great.
- 33:14That one eye, dude, style tentacles, Coming out of these.
- 33:19Yeah, some of the, the CGI on the eyes, for some of the it's
- 33:23just to make it look a bit more reels.
- 33:24Nice, I really, really appreciate the effort they've
- 33:28gone to like and they made a big splash at.
- 33:30I remember the confidential made a splash of that sometime.
- 33:32This is the most amount of aliens we've ever done for a
- 33:34doctor who story. Yeah.
- 33:37What's that? Possibly could be ever.
- 33:39He's off. She's not, she's fluent Florida.
- 33:42Flying away. Like chi in never walk away.
- 33:52Okay, so now they got off to a wanker.
- 33:54This is for the girl. The spice boy, that's the kind
- 33:56of ever seen in my life. It's been there.
- 33:58The whole known for their probably, the one effect that is
- 34:04my favorite. It's so silly.
- 34:09So, yeah. I mean this like X me but it
- 34:14doesn't spoil my joy. Yeah, the fact that he won't
- 34:18give a sonic screwdriver way when the Tardis like she pops.
- 34:21Them out is a bit annoying. Like, there's not even a line,
- 34:26you know, to say to explain why. Yeah, that is true.
- 34:30It makes Clara give like her. Most sentimental room to rent a
- 34:35moped when he could have done it with a sonic screwdriver.
- 34:39Why does she give the ring and not the leaf?
- 34:42She's saving that for later. Oh she asks, right so annoyed.
- 34:45Gallifrey base. You've got a big pumpkin.
- 34:47It to take down and show you? Do you know what?
- 34:49It's not that bad though, is it? Look at it.
- 34:53Eat your heart out. Star Wars Doctor Who's on a
- 34:56moped in space. I would, I don't want.
- 35:00This is the standard I want 4.0 effects though, it would feel
- 35:04almost wrong. If we had Star Wars level
- 35:06effects whenever we come, how have we come to a point where we
- 35:10are criticizing a Doctor Who for looking cheap when it has this
- 35:14much visual Splendor. Yeah, I know.
- 35:17Then tell me when is when is, how does he looks ever been?
- 35:21It's never been. The issue is, it's just never
- 35:23been the issue. I think the reason that some of
- 35:28these shows like Star Wars and and stuff like that looks good.
- 35:31It's because they don't try as much as dr.
- 35:33A, you know, a doctor who is constantly pushing the bar of
- 35:38what it can do, especially on the BBC budget.
- 35:41But what is what is it that matters?
- 35:43Yeah, watch out for. We try to imagine Nation the
- 35:46creativity, the characterization, the emotion.
- 35:49And this has got all of that. Sort of special effects.
- 35:53Yeah, I've never cared for special effects.
- 35:55Yeah but they all good. Look at that.
- 35:57Look at that planet. There's yeah I know if any
- 35:59waiting around in the back and this is a fantastic say I think
- 36:04as well and a bit you know, when he gets up he smashes the glass
- 36:08in slow motion. Yeah if this is a great-looking
- 36:12monster, I can see why people are but sad.
- 36:16The vigil that I think the visual got bit more about them.
- 36:20But then, just as least is a reason for application with the
- 36:23whisper men in name of the doctor yell there.
- 36:26Kill. Come on.
- 36:26What cool. But what the hell were they all
- 36:28about? How it kind of fits together?
- 36:32Like a little puzzle, you know? Yeah.
- 36:35Okay. I do see people having their bit
- 36:37of a whinge about Matt Smith, waving the screwdriver about and
- 36:40he does a lot in this episode's. Yeah, but it's another thing is,
- 36:44like I said, but should annoy me but it doesn't actually.
- 36:48I quite like it when he says the sex.
- 36:50Really heavy door, a setting up that joke in Day of the Doctor
- 36:55where John Hurt goes. If it's my putting up shelves.
- 36:59Why do you keep waving screwdrivers about?
- 37:01Yeah, I love it. I love it.
- 37:06I dunno. What I do think that in terms of
- 37:09like sentimentality and the color palette and all that,
- 37:14there's something there is something a little Disney ish
- 37:16about this, but I got a massive Disney fan me.
- 37:21It doesn't feel childish though, and I'm not saying this knee is
- 37:24the, but like it doesn't feel childish.
- 37:28It still feels ashamed that like a family audience.
- 37:32Whereas, I think the moment at the end where she offers the
- 37:37leaf, but one of the most mature moments of this season.
- 37:40It's yeah, no, I agree. I don't know why people for all
- 37:45gets you. I just don't know why people
- 37:47focus on the leaf so much like what you think that's what
- 37:52people's problem is. The fact that the leaves, think
- 37:54I think at least a big following this for people that people
- 37:57didn't like the Frog on the chair.
- 37:59What the fuck. That I know that frog was
- 38:00amazing. Well, yeah, the front of the
- 38:02chair is good. I mean, that's the most probably
- 38:04the most Doctor Who he thing that's come out of Jody's time.
- 38:08I think that idea of of of our universe, be the frog on a
- 38:11chair. Hi, taking a Daleks down.
- 38:13On with a microwave. That was pretty good as well.
- 38:16Yeah, true. Okay what's occurring?
- 38:21Yeah. That's right.
- 38:22We're stop watching now. We've we should be watching
- 38:24today. We room is still so good.
- 38:26Why is he singing? He's waking up mate.
- 38:30That's probably a key Series 5, Matt Smith but you know and
- 38:34we're actually where are we with 2/3 through this now like it
- 38:39moves a good lick? Yeah, it's just That first bit
- 38:44just has time to breathe. So you just on the world, you I
- 38:48don't feel like there's a, there's an episode where you
- 38:50feel as on an alien world as a concern for Better or For Worse,
- 38:54for some people. But are you sure the doctor's
- 38:57daughter that bit, where more 4 goes into the ball, going to see
- 39:06it just on the edge of cracking laughing as the half.
- 39:09So he dies, I think as well. A lot of people have bought into
- 39:12this. Rusty Davis idea and anger or
- 39:15love, Rusty Davison. What did we talk to?
- 39:17And he's going to do all of, you know, all we can go to the
- 39:20planet Zog where you know, there's no human characters.
- 39:24You know, you should always be kind of grounded in the Earth.
- 39:27Yeah, I loved it when we went off to the planet of forces and
- 39:31saw the butterfly people and the Ants and all that, you know.
- 39:34Yeah. I I agree with that though.
- 39:36I agree that it should be ground, it should be dark, but
- 39:39you should also be reacted and tried to do different things.
- 39:44We hadn't beat, we haven't done an alien planet like this
- 39:47forever, you know, hey, this one sticks out because basically,
- 39:51it's, we knew who we have. This is the Alien Planet
- 39:55episode. I think they're reluctant to do
- 39:57it because they don't think they can match.
- 40:00What other shows can do. Yeah.
- 40:01And again, I play it safe and, you know, do a lot on Earth as a
- 40:06gray and Williams fun. But you are that, that sort of
- 40:10makes sense that this, this will be enough.
- 40:13I'll get massive G William Vives is a little bit over the top.
- 40:18It's very colorful is really exotic.
- 40:21Yeah, but I kind of got the money to do, what, great
- 40:24Williams. Okay, he had it all up here.
- 40:27But yeah, we knew he was doing, I think yeah.
- 40:30I think you did. He's a very underrated.
- 40:32It's one of those producers that I think because he's not alive
- 40:35and he can't do interviews and prevention's.
- 40:37The stuff is so gets forgotten about.
- 40:40But it is a, I think that's been re-evaluated I can't wait for
- 40:44the key to time. Box sets come out and have fun
- 40:46to re-evaluate that because I love the keys.
- 40:48It's a tie that might be my favorite season of classic.
- 40:51Oh, he's time. I like, it's one of mine.
- 40:53Definitely, one of my, yeah, the comedy is probably the.
- 40:56Well it's probably the best for comedy between a doctor who
- 40:59companion witty lines and the cause of science.
- 41:02We should capture that creature. So sorry we're talking about
- 41:06Rings. Yes we've just missed a
- 41:09beautiful speech between Matt Smith, former legal.
- 41:11Oh well He tells her that all the atoms in the universe of
- 41:15coalesced to make her and there will only be one.
- 41:18Merry galel, I'll give you this. All right by Mike Smith okay
- 41:22because he doesn't convince me the doctor at 90% of the time
- 41:25but when they give him a good speech like that fabulous beach
- 41:28in Vincent and the doctor when he says to Amy about all the
- 41:32parts of good stuff and the bad stuff that's amazing.
- 41:35The speech when he regenerates, you know, It's I think, I think
- 41:39he turns any speech in school. He's by far the best doctor for
- 41:43speeches and he get some good ones, but I genuinely think this
- 41:47is his best one, the one he gets in this.
- 41:50It's, it's a strange one because it's a on paper.
- 41:54It's the most stupid think it's just, you know, what he does,
- 41:59but a lot of other actors. Wouldn't do he fucking goes for
- 42:03hide though? That's like my he goes.
- 42:05I ever commit to this 100%. Or I look a bit of yappy.
- 42:09Dogs will be going. You know?
- 42:10Take it all baby. Yeah, yeah, that there's got to
- 42:15be a convention out there. Whether they read the speech, I
- 42:19want to hear that your colleague Baker doing it.
- 42:22Yeah, he's not got a clue. What's going on?
- 42:27There's like, take it all baby. It's know.
- 42:33It's the thing is this pizza. It's a load of nonsense, isn't
- 42:37it? It's rambling about memories and
- 42:38Doctor, who'll or and everything.
- 42:40But then Matt Smith makes it all.
- 42:42So we incredible. You makes it the most quotable
- 42:45finger. But most times when I just by
- 42:47how old he is, and what he's experienced, you know, and he
- 42:51talks about just like in survival ways like how the city
- 42:54is made of Song and people made of this and that and you talked
- 42:57about all these places on, right?
- 42:58Well the rest is seasoned. So fucking boring while we're
- 43:01going to those places. Amazing.
- 43:04It's yeah. I mean, Russell is very good at,
- 43:06you know, doing them sentences that you think, or I'd love to
- 43:09go see that part in this and he says, all this, and it's stuff
- 43:12that's already happened to. I think I want to go and watch
- 43:15like the Mind rather now because he says about being in the
- 43:18universe of a modern madman and stuff and you just you want to
- 43:21go back and see the episodes. I mean, again, this is like
- 43:25nine, just that one line about the universe of a Madman.
- 43:29He just the way it emphasizes, every word of that speech.
- 43:32Uh, yeah. I do you think you think is give
- 43:34it 100% And then the tears start coming down his eyes and then
- 43:39director gets in on it as well. And we start, panning out
- 43:42upwards, don't we? Yeah, frustrating to Camp.
- 43:47It's an incredible idea what that it's just.
- 43:50Yeah. Just shouldn't be quite humble
- 43:52but it is like sometimes I'll just be making a cup of tea and
- 43:55I'll just shout make parasite God's Blaze, but I don't think
- 44:00it's any less. Like what he's saying is, I've
- 44:03experienced all these things if you want this emotion and bloody
- 44:07take it from me. Because I've seen it all, it's
- 44:10no more over the top of that bit in the Silence of the library
- 44:13where he's like oh you know I'm in every book going.
- 44:16Look me up, you know, look me up but he read it all baby.
- 44:32Awesome. You know, you sell said
- 44:36something salacious, do it. There's a really good lie there
- 44:40and he's, I've seen bigger. She's like Ivy and he goes, no,
- 44:43it's my mom. You know what I think is a dart,
- 44:47a crying shame. Neil Carlson, come back and do
- 44:49more II. Listen, me across my favorite.
- 44:52So he said, fine writer. I think it was the reaction to
- 44:55this episode that did it because then, you know, you go down.
- 44:58Well, this episode like as much as you and I loved every None of
- 45:02it. I don't think it's.
- 45:04It's considered, you know? No, I don't get it.
- 45:07I'd honestly thought until, you know, we'll go through the
- 45:09comments at the end, but I honestly thought this it out a
- 45:12reappraisal by people didn't like it.
- 45:14What does it look like? That's all positive comments in
- 45:17that thread. Do that I thought there would
- 45:19be. Yeah.
- 45:20Okay, I'm interested is when we get there, it can't just be me,
- 45:24read them all out, you know, I'm after ask you to get it up on so
- 45:27you can as well, I can get it, I have heard that rumor.
- 45:35Here is, I've seen bigger jochen a child today.
- 45:45So now he's off on the face bike.
- 45:48Was he thinking the Tardis? I can't.
- 45:49No, no. She's off on the space by.
- 45:51He's a he's going to confront grandfather.
- 45:54He session I will have as well. He goes right back to that
- 45:57Stadium, doesn't he? He doesn't go anywhere.
- 46:01He just walks around the corner disease.
- 46:07Oh no! She well sometimes you've got to
- 46:15because you've got a kid and then yeah okay I'm going to drop
- 46:19now the bit I think is extraordinary about the
- 46:23performances here because what you have are two very
- 46:27contrasting Styles. Matt Smith This speech and it
- 46:31literally choose it up and spits it out in the most incredibly
- 46:35kind of emotional and over-the-top way.
- 46:38And I think it's phenomenally good.
- 46:41And she comes in and does Her speech with the leaf and she
- 46:45under places. Yeah, delicately I think it's
- 46:49Jenna colors best performers in dogs.
- 46:51Oh, that's but that, but of all the it honestly, like I thought
- 46:56I changed when you don't feel much for Clara, Throughout her
- 47:00rum surprised. She's got the leaf in her hand.
- 47:02She says it's the most importantly, for the most
- 47:06importantly, the acting is, is, I mean, I've say, when Capaldi
- 47:12comes along with Capaldi and Coleman, you probably got the
- 47:15strongest actors in the new series that played the doctor
- 47:21potentially. I don't think they're capture us
- 47:25particularly well, I sort of struggle and people say Compile,
- 47:30these the best access for the doctor.
- 47:32I think it's very easy one to just because I think when he
- 47:36finds out he's a fantastic actor, y'all get I think he's a
- 47:39great actor but when people say he's the best asks for the
- 47:41doctor, like it's a given, I don't necessarily agree with
- 47:44that. I think, once he finds his feet,
- 47:47he's very, very, very good. But I think he gets, he makes
- 47:51wrong choices. And so he say, along with the
- 47:54righted, love it makes her own choices and then he makes wrong
- 47:57choices annoyed. But then in 10 days, This is the
- 47:59fusion of just a section. I don't know what goes on.
- 48:02No, oh, of course he fucks River Song.
- 48:06Danny that I was him out perfectly honestly.
- 48:10I mean, Matt Smith is just talking to in real life.
- 48:15And he's just getting the plan as well, you know, because it
- 48:17looks like a big jack-o'-lantern.
- 48:19Yes, I think none of that. But that gets across to the
- 48:22kids. What this is about, you know, I
- 48:26think I get like you said. It's just, it's just another
- 48:28level of scale. We're just upping the stakes
- 48:30again, but like I said, she is a big evil Planet, isn't it?
- 48:34Yeah, brother. A big hungry Planet.
- 48:37I mean, this people don't like this episode.
- 48:41I mean, the speech is Iconic, though.
- 48:43Is that? Everyone knows?
- 48:44Is it? I don't see how you could have a
- 48:46speech, this iconic, and the episode be so low down the list.
- 48:50I just, as surprised as me, I'll actually do for me.
- 48:53If there's a, if there's a good scene and a Bad episode, he
- 48:57usually gets a few points but I kill the moon.
- 48:59Yeah, I mean, there's no good scenes in the forest of the
- 49:02night. So, no, that is I really love
- 49:05the the visual of silhouette in them up against the planet as
- 49:09well. That's really striking is God,
- 49:11this is even more striking after Clara.
- 49:13Does Her speech and the Is kind of broken and on these on the
- 49:16floor, like one leg looking down at him.
- 49:20But I did see, just with the music.
- 49:22Swelling and look at this, this little the desktop pictures
- 49:25couldn't lay there. Yeah.
- 49:29I will walk away from the last, great time War, I marked the
- 49:32passing of the time Lords. I saw the birth fill in the
- 49:34build-up to the 50th, though, as well.
- 49:36This was just Tangles this because this is you know you
- 49:39were at the time you don't, this is just what you wanted
- 49:42references in and build off a day and it was like, oh my God
- 49:47yeah you just walk it gives you a grabbing onto anything on the
- 49:51lead up to the fiftieth because we're like this is important if
- 49:55this is Wayside I was universe is freeze and Creations burn
- 49:58Things you wouldn't believe, okay?
- 50:01Is that little bit Pretenders? Secret knowledge ever be told
- 50:06every spoken knowledge that vague parasite God's Blaze
- 50:11welcome on the he does no secrets that can never be told,
- 50:16you know, I told him in that case, told her to keep that to
- 50:19himself. All right.
- 50:22Take it all baby. Oh my God.
- 50:25Yeah, every to do that speech. Every one of them.
- 50:29Yeah. Cory.
- 50:30Oh my God. II think he's definitely thought
- 50:36it you know the ones I know have done it.
- 50:38I'm sure my gun is done it and bake has done it.
- 50:41I want to hear the day for cut, though.
- 50:43It's you either time in, then it's on that whole speech.
- 50:45And then right? Then she went wake up.
- 50:52Oh no, people moan about the gravity, but like if we're going
- 50:56to be Nick picked a about science Syria, who just?
- 51:00I mean, I've got a Physics degree and I am not asked about
- 51:04Out traffic. It's a not Moon cracking, you
- 51:07know a bit. It's just it's just not
- 51:10important. Is it, it's an alien world.
- 51:11So you can just say, you know, what happens when you know you
- 51:15adhere to science, you get something as that says dreariest
- 51:19after I got a Star Trooper costume.
- 51:22Oh I'd say the only complaint I had on initial transmission was
- 51:26I was annoyed that she could drive the moped on her own.
- 51:29It's my only complaint I do really yeah literally
- 51:34Ridiculous. I want to believe that the
- 51:36doctor would choose. Someone call enough to be able
- 51:38to drive a space moped without tuition.
- 51:40Yeah. Oh, here we go.
- 51:45Can I let you in on a little secret?
- 51:47Yeah, I know. I could never get serious on
- 51:49Mike somewhere in my phone, right?
- 51:52I recorded. This is why I did it.
- 51:54I must been an emotional day. I recorded me during the Clara
- 51:58speech. It's not my phone.
- 52:00I'm going to, I'm going to put it out.
- 52:02Yes. Please Release even better than
- 52:07Jenna Coleman seriously but II sort of you the Belle st.
- 52:12John and rings of akhaten is not a tea party but they are
- 52:15related. Aren't they?
- 52:16Because they're both introducing Clara.
- 52:19The leaf is brought in at the other bells of Saint John is
- 52:21like a thing and then this is this is basically her let go of
- 52:25the past and after this she travels with the doctor But, you
- 52:29know, you know why this touches me as much as it does.
- 52:32I'm not, I wasn't planning on getting serious, but I'm gonna
- 52:35get serious for a second. I lost my mom a few years ago.
- 52:39And so, the stuff she's saying about days that would never
- 52:42lived and a future that never was and that really touches me
- 52:46because that's exactly how I feel about my mom.
- 52:49You know, that's really nice that they put it into words so
- 52:53well and it's poetic, you know, it's a really poetic way.
- 52:59So, I just love it when the mafia does poet.
- 53:01Poetic resolutions. This is probably my favorite.
- 53:06We and I agree. I think a lot of people
- 53:09descriptive like yeah, that rather this than another one of
- 53:13those love conquers, all endings, you know, you know like
- 53:17the end and she get where the doctor runs around some
- 53:19Machinery, press a couple of buttons and then it's done.
- 53:23How could always fail some great height and you know that's ways.
- 53:27This one is your own Congress. Hey, white people, fixate on
- 53:34like a leaf when that's it's just a, they have no soul.
- 53:43Yeah, I agree. Are you listening out there,
- 53:45everybody? Okay.
- 53:48Do what I do? You know, I think we've been
- 53:50positive enough for out. This find enough reasons, people
- 53:53may go back and watch this and re-evaluate a little bit.
- 53:56I hope so. I mean, it's one of them I did.
- 53:59Holes to pick everywhere. I think we totally bypassed the
- 54:03never before. Mentioned secret song that opens
- 54:05a secret door to get the other pyramid.
- 54:07I mean, I still bollocks, but it's because you're on an alien
- 54:11world. You just run with it.
- 54:12It's but I think, you know, and a lot of people do this in
- 54:15Jodie, Whittaker era. No.
- 54:17You ain't immune. And a lot of people go looking
- 54:20for these problems sometimes. Yes.
- 54:22You know, and sometimes just roll with it.
- 54:24I think if you don't like the doctor or the era or that is go,
- 54:29you will always find the really bad things because it's I do do
- 54:33it with thy actually to I do in the mafia.
- 54:35I'm I'll wash it, right? That's another one for his went.
- 54:38You know, when you really like an era of love, the doctor ever,
- 54:42you just don't care. They have no effect on your
- 54:44server. It's, I mean, I absolutely adore
- 54:47the Chase and time and the Rani, you know.
- 54:49Yeah, I'm telling you now there's a few flaws in there.
- 54:53Well, the chase is one. That's been reappraise, doesn't
- 54:55it? I mean you don't really find
- 54:56someone who says they don't like the chase.
- 54:58Well, This must marvelous has been reprise.
- 55:01Yeah, everyone seems like it, huh.
- 55:04I mean, talk about when Doctor Who production values were up
- 55:06there. Hi, hey.
- 55:10I was going on. So, I've got so busy, talking to
- 55:12you off, either. He came to the ring happened.
- 55:18Yeah, things like that. And the sun's been the fears.
- 55:23I think that's why people don't like the gravity thing.
- 55:26I will next time, Cold War. What's wrong?
- 55:29No, how do you know what I mean? I shouldn't be saying mean
- 55:32things because we lost David Warner this week.
- 55:34Yeah, but always that dreary. Yeah, it's true.
- 55:38It's, you know, I really don't like about it.
- 55:39You don't. The ice Warrior kill anyone.
- 55:42It's written by Mark Gatiss, it's not the best but it's not
- 55:48take him out the suit. That's that's their you sp.
- 55:51Yeah, I kinda get it as it sort of different today.
- 55:55The issue is the suit looks so sick and the the other things
- 55:59just a seizure terrible do it. Yeah.
- 56:03Series 10 when she was amazing, she's class that the Read on
- 56:10Wiki before. We started this, there's a nice
- 56:12boys out of it's shell on. I could send somewhere and I
- 56:15don't know if this is true, but I might go back and watch it
- 56:19again because I didn't know that.
- 56:22Well, look before we explore Twitter and people's rather than
- 56:27saying opinions. Sorry, everybody listening.
- 56:31We need to detail three reasons. I thought.
- 56:35Oh yeah, back and forth. You won me one.
- 56:38Why? The rings of akhaten is a solely
- 56:41undervalued story, solely on the value of because it's the
- 56:45best-looking Alien Planet we've ever had in doctor.
- 56:48Hey, that's number one. A bold claim that about second
- 56:52acts ever written. What's that expression in the
- 56:56Galaxy? That is a proper gap.
- 57:00In my knowledge that okay, what my first is, I think that I'm
- 57:08going to take both these out. So, you kind of have either one
- 57:10of these, the regulars are at their high.
- 57:16At this point in this is this the best of Matt Smith and Jenna
- 57:19Coleman. I think in this half season, and
- 57:22they're both given characterization that they can
- 57:26get their teeth into and really explore.
- 57:28I think they're both charismatic and I cannot take my eyes off
- 57:32them. Right.
- 57:34Okay. Well, I I need to sort of cheat
- 57:37a little bit and take a bit of that one because This is
- 57:40famously what I said on the podcast, the episode I would
- 57:43choose if I had 45 minutes left to live.
- 57:46It's all what people spit out there t right there, boss, Matt
- 57:54sniffing. This is everything.
- 57:57I want the doctors to be in 45 minutes.
- 57:59I think it's, I always feel a bit wrong with saying that
- 58:03because it's not one of the big ones, but I think it is my
- 58:05favorite doctor before. It's that there is, especially
- 58:07in the new series cuz It gets to play every be that I think it's
- 58:11like Sly adventurous so unpredictable funny,
- 58:16knowledgeable loud, you know, xplory defeated flurry and he's
- 58:22like dazzling. You know.
- 58:24It's just every beat the doctor can be should be in.
- 58:29Naturally gets to perform of this 45 minutes.
- 58:33Yeah. I think it's, I think it's my
- 58:35favorite doctor faults of all time.
- 58:37That's wow. That's extraordinary.
- 58:39Someone Shiva stop wanking. No, no shocks that
- 58:54I thought you were, okay, I'm going to make a punt for the
- 59:05production value of this thing which I think.
- 59:09Has massive massive ambition and reaches maybe two-thirds of it.
- 59:15But the amount of effort the prospective Prosthetics the CGI,
- 59:21the sets, I think they pour a lot of money into this one and I
- 59:27just always think there's something of visual interest to
- 59:29see all throughout the entire episode.
- 59:31Is a really pretty episode. Yeah, that's a good one.
- 59:34I think that they've really tried.
- 59:37You got this. Just really try.
- 59:39Try to bring it to life this it looks great.
- 59:42I still really ended on the Matt Smith Fox.
- 59:44It's such a bold statement so we're you guys I'm Erica how
- 59:47feel also well yeah I think I was going to say the long song
- 59:52really in general. It's quite it's my one cool.
- 59:55It's quite a banger itself and oh, what a bangle.
- 1:00:02Yeah, like abandoned you hey, you me, cool bangers.
- 1:00:06Very different things. But I think I like that, it ties
- 1:00:15into this isn't just an alien planet, but that it's a proper
- 1:00:19alien culture, and world and society.
- 1:00:21And its all seem really based around this song.
- 1:00:24It's quite weird, quite Opera to, and that it's really catchy.
- 1:00:29I mean, you can't, you will definitely go around tonight.
- 1:00:34Once this podcast is finished and your head will just be low
- 1:00:37weight Because it's just the way song.
- 1:00:42It ever got a What I Hear ever again Bunga.
- 1:00:47Oh God. That was my, the long song with
- 1:00:50literally a lullaby without and without oil, let's keep going.
- 1:00:57Then surely I think we should celebrate their for Neil cross
- 1:01:03for having the nerve for writing the piece of dialogue.
- 1:01:06Oh my stars. Yes.
- 1:01:08Oh, how did we not talk about that?
- 1:01:09Has never been heard before or since with good with.
- 1:01:12No, that's not my third thing. Of course, it's not my third
- 1:01:14thing is this should have been closed last words as she flew
- 1:01:18off in the diner. Yeah, it probably should have
- 1:01:22done to, you know. Okay so I'm going to say for my
- 1:01:26third thing, I think the score. So I've mentioned every level of
- 1:01:30a production now really apart from the direction but I think
- 1:01:35the score for this is and that kind of ties into the long song
- 1:01:38as well. But It has a very lovely child
- 1:01:42like school to it that runs through.
- 1:01:45I think, especially with the scenes with Miracle, ow Marigold
- 1:01:49I think is very praised for his early work.
- 1:01:52If Doctor Who yeah Latter-Day stuff, people don't really re
- 1:01:56very much, but actually, when he was on form right to the end I
- 1:02:01think he delivered extraordinary work.
- 1:02:03Yeah, I think the early stuff it's like every single one is
- 1:02:08great, isn't it? Crashed in it so original.
- 1:02:11Yeah, I'm memorable and everything and then he's
- 1:02:14obviously, always trying to do something different.
- 1:02:17When it comes off you get like you akka turns and yet you
- 1:02:21haven't sent scores and stuff. But there's a there's a couple
- 1:02:23that just go under the radar thing.
- 1:02:25So people people don't think he's as good.
- 1:02:27He's always brought, he's always good.
- 1:02:29Yeah. I think that would like to give
- 1:02:31me a cross a bit of a coup that off as well though, because I
- 1:02:35think he's the best. So, he Stephen writer and it's
- 1:02:38dialogues. Really.
- 1:02:39Good. If you see me, seemingly gets
- 1:02:41the doctor and and Clara actually probably better than
- 1:02:45most of the others and Yeah, yeah, I just wish she came back.
- 1:02:52It's maybe a sports is plotting. Doesn't seem to Great like this
- 1:02:57Stone which wishy-washy stuff in the rings of accent, but the
- 1:03:01dialogue, the back and forth to Matt Smith and Clara the way
- 1:03:03they bombed some of the jokes. It's just good and different.
- 1:03:07Yeah, big farm is witty and you, you are my Sabe Fox.
- 1:03:11Oh, I love a little sentimental stuff either me to at all and
- 1:03:14all the stuff all the time is, right.
- 1:03:16He Davis lent into it and some of those Times in early sort of
- 1:03:19Matt Smith's time with Amy Pond. I love it that speech at the end
- 1:03:23of the engine Takes Manhattan where she's talking about all
- 1:03:26the adventures that she's had. Yeah, he's beautiful.
- 1:03:29And that's a schmaltzy is box. Whoever got yeah, give me soft.
- 1:03:33I love song. Mac to me so well.
- 1:03:35Okay, should we take to social media?
- 1:03:37Oh yes, please. I have to say, okay, what do you
- 1:03:40got to offer as well? All right, let's do one apiece.
- 1:03:43Okay, so I'm going to say, oh, Mark datuk is a very sexy.
- 1:03:48And I was just like that out loud.
- 1:03:51He says, are still bear a grudge against the episode because this
- 1:03:55guy didn't turn out to be a Draconian but otherwise I'd
- 1:03:58rather enjoy it. Oh yeah.
- 1:03:59Look at the picture. You know what?
- 1:04:00He's right. It doesn't I could correct that.
- 1:04:02That is my because I've never thought it but it does not look
- 1:04:05like one will come in and who've you got.
- 1:04:09Okay, I've got Dave Rennie. He says maybe it's just me but
- 1:04:15I've always found this one. Very hard to follow.
- 1:04:17I applaud the Ambition of the episode but the visuals don't
- 1:04:20always come off suddenly what we love you, but we think you're
- 1:04:24wrong. Love the underworld like gods.
- 1:04:27That you said that, I've never thought that either.
- 1:04:30It's got an original idea. These days bought, the whole
- 1:04:34Leaf thing is a load of old swaddled survey.
- 1:04:38The most important Leaf in human history.
- 1:04:40Dave honestly. Okay, I've got someone whose
- 1:04:45name here is so long. I've actually got go into their
- 1:04:48To see what it is. Frankenstein cannot be found in
- 1:04:50the ocean. Goodbye one intriguing, Twitter
- 1:04:54name is he says, fantastic visuals.
- 1:04:57Belting performance from Matt Smith, but somehow managed to be
- 1:05:00lackluster and that unbearably cringey barking alien.
- 1:05:04Still my Dori. Dori, what's wrong with him?
- 1:05:08Honestly, Frankenstein Tardis translation circuit.
- 1:05:11Anyone. One of the few stories, I don't
- 1:05:13like that sounded like They were a fan and it started off so
- 1:05:21positive. Fantastic visuals.
- 1:05:24Belting performance, one of the few stories I don't like.
- 1:05:38It's one of the more unusual stories which is no bad thing.
- 1:05:41As one of the best things about the show is its ability to do
- 1:05:43wildly different episodes for me.
- 1:05:46This is Doctor Who as rock opera.
- 1:05:48Well either rocket. Oh yeah with one of the best
- 1:05:51doctor speeches but the whole infinite possibilities Leaf,
- 1:05:55still bothers me, sort of the rock where you know when people
- 1:05:58sound like they're smashing up a kitchen and like screaming their
- 1:06:01heads off. Yeah.
- 1:06:03Imagine that version of the long song you know please do get
- 1:06:09called in distress you know. He has form.
- 1:06:15Okay. Oh God here we go.
- 1:06:17Fraser Gregory's. Got a comment and it's free
- 1:06:20tweeze. He's really fucking sa look at
- 1:06:22this. Okay, let me up great.
- 1:06:26Much-loved really are people on glue?
- 1:06:29This is great. Yeah, I'm off.
- 1:06:31It gives Clara some backstory and depth Marvel at how Clara
- 1:06:35honestly thinks this is a date, but the doctor doesn't realize
- 1:06:38be amazed that the array of alien creatures.
- 1:06:40Paraded before us the end of the world, via the Cantina in Star
- 1:06:45Wars, love Saves the Day in a very timely wine.
- 1:06:48Why with the possibilities of days to come being more precious
- 1:06:52than living in the past? Hmm maybe there's a moral, their
- 1:06:55fandom Smith is superb, Coleman is rising to the task.
- 1:06:59Our Arc is front and center and love Clara calling out for the
- 1:07:02dr. Stoker Enos at the end they're
- 1:07:04still wanting to come back for a second date bitch.
- 1:07:07But obviously the big talking point is the long song wowzers
- 1:07:11Marigold Nails it when he wants to do it doesn't it?
- 1:07:14This is a firm favourite of mine.
- 1:07:16He's got a done in three. Two.
- 1:07:18Tweet. Oh, and I was just like we have,
- 1:07:20you got the wrong person on the podcast.
- 1:07:22It's just, it's just an infinitely better job than me.
- 1:07:25You also know as well, as I literally spend my entire
- 1:07:27podcast like time, disagreeing with him.
- 1:07:31And I agree with every word he said there.
- 1:07:33I mean, I'm glad he picked up on a date thing because I get that
- 1:07:36Vibe all the way 37b. Yeah, end of the world.
- 1:07:40What do you say towards the end before the ones, from, before
- 1:07:43the long term? But so the arc is front and
- 1:07:47center, he likes Are calling out on the doctor being a stalker.
- 1:07:50Oh yeah, no, you make some very good points.
- 1:07:53Don't tell anyone but he does your turn.
- 1:07:57It's well to counteract that we've got Bernhard at burner
- 1:08:00JKD, one of the least good pieces of any fiction across any
- 1:08:04media I've ever watched. Well bird.
- 1:08:09We respect your opinion. He must be a cold war fun.
- 1:08:13I'll bet you see a big loss of dominators as well.
- 1:08:16No, it's thank you very much. Okay, lit, roundels.
- 1:08:22Our man. Have you seen this guy?
- 1:08:24What Hoy, honestly. It's gonna get him to come on
- 1:08:26this. You don't lie, and I'm quite
- 1:08:28convinced him yet, but tell him how good is cool.
- 1:08:33Yeah, yeah. Good lookin man.
- 1:08:35No. No, tell him how good it is.
- 1:08:36Coming on this thing. Oh no.
- 1:08:39I just gave up on this very handsome.
- 1:08:42Okay. First Doctor Who episode to make
- 1:08:44me want to turn off? Oh retract!
- 1:08:48Retract honestly I shall be having a good.
- 1:08:50Look at the picture. Second thoughts about I lowered,
- 1:08:53the self-satisfied series. Be Clara Coleman and Smith.
- 1:08:56Brought out the worst in each other looks very cheap.
- 1:08:59Story, doesn't interest me? Yes, Yuck, we've seen places.
- 1:09:03Plus we get another one of those die speeches.
- 1:09:05That every other actor is forced to repeat a conventions.
- 1:09:08Which other doctor could, you see people in that speech off or
- 1:09:11not Colin Baker, not of the, it's not Neil cross his fault
- 1:09:15that it's wheeled out every convention though.
- 1:09:20So someone said something about, I love saves the day and and by
- 1:09:22they think it is love safe today.
- 1:09:24It's more subtle than that. It's a lot more nicer, death The
- 1:09:33the previous one, what he said about living like it's much more
- 1:09:38important for the days that is coming to live in the past.
- 1:09:41That's the theme of the episode. That's, it's not as it's not
- 1:09:46just a leaf, I thought, once me up, well it's not just a frog,
- 1:09:51is it? It's a signal Universe, you know
- 1:09:54people getting so obsessed about the details although I will just
- 1:09:58say very briefly. We are obviously taking the mick
- 1:10:01He a people's opinions here. All opinions are perfectly.
- 1:10:04Oh yeah, yeah. Except it, they don't matter of
- 1:10:08ours. Okay, well you've got to do
- 1:10:11something else called Andy Parkinson says wait, this is one
- 1:10:15of the most hated, seriously, I quite enjoy this.
- 1:10:19One Clara is good. I like the music.
- 1:10:23It looks amazing too. Okay, it's not the best but
- 1:10:26blimey there's plenty of stories worse than this.
- 1:10:28Well, did, that's the sort of thing I thought would The
- 1:10:31general reaction that okay, it's not my cup of tea.
- 1:10:35But Christ, this worse, I mean I think I think what waiting for
- 1:10:40this is It's polarizing in extreme opposite directions,
- 1:10:43isn't it? Yeah.
- 1:10:44It's this is that luck with. You did love monsters last time.
- 1:10:47That's exactly the same. Yeah, we need to do more.
- 1:10:51What have one can we do that everyone hates that?
- 1:10:53We love? What will find that?
- 1:10:55They've got the pole? Brendan A Jones, says massively
- 1:10:58improved in my estimation on watching for flight for
- 1:11:01entireties upcoming season. Seven be run.
- 1:11:04A real showcase for Jenna's Talent.
- 1:11:06My question, always got For you. You ready?
- 1:11:09Yeah, it is Eve of you think grandfather or a cotton was a
- 1:11:12returning villain or Monster and if so which oh no, I never never
- 1:11:18thought that you didn't know either.
- 1:11:21There's nothing in it. Really, is that the suggest that
- 1:11:23they would return, they would have to go back to our concern,
- 1:11:26I suppose maybe grandfather, like the sun, just vanishes,
- 1:11:30maybe. I thought when they mention the
- 1:11:32first doctoral, then they mentioned, grandfather fought.
- 1:11:34No, they're not going to have willing heart will turn up in
- 1:11:37their side. You know, in the name of the
- 1:11:40doctor, when you see the old doctors that is, there should
- 1:11:44have been a clip of him on a concern.
- 1:11:47Because the poor Patrick shouting, that weird California
- 1:11:49beach, which doesn't make any sense at all.
- 1:11:53Hello, put those together, you know, he's got fantastic work
- 1:11:55out there on YouTube. Is it, what's his name?
- 1:11:59Sure, Humphreys I think yes Babel call them.
- 1:12:01Yeah, it's fantastic. He does.
- 1:12:04Okay. Also, she actually, yes, go.
- 1:12:07I've got Brian koume, D 2022. I thought it was almost
- 1:12:14universally loved. Oh, I remember being stunned by
- 1:12:17it. I didn't enjoy the episode.
- 1:12:20I didn't enjoy the absolute, but I admired, The Audacity Of
- 1:12:24bringing so many aliens together.
- 1:12:26Essentially, for a sit-down single film.
- 1:12:29While the doctor yells are giant.
- 1:12:31Pumpkin, about the wickedness of religion.
- 1:12:33Interesting. Okay, I've got a great one here.
- 1:12:36The guys called Baby. Al's bagels and lox.
- 1:12:39And he says, there's just one draft and a guest score from
- 1:12:43Peter Gabriel. Hang on.
- 1:12:45It's just one draft and a guest score from Peter.
- 1:12:48Gabriel away from absolute genius at me.
- 1:12:52It's already tedious. I so I got it.
- 1:12:56This little bits in it. It could be streamed a bit but
- 1:12:59then I quite doctor. You should never be perfect.
- 1:13:02So it does. So there's a bit of me that
- 1:13:06always thinks that I can give a dog to attend attend because of
- 1:13:09my experience of it but I'll always find an imperfection
- 1:13:12somewhere. Yeah.
- 1:13:13Yeah. Go ahead DW SSG.
- 1:13:18Love this episode. Yes.
- 1:13:19The plot disappears into silliness.
- 1:13:21So I'll finish, but there's lots to like, Matt Smith is
- 1:13:24particularly great and Gold's. Music has never been more
- 1:13:27emotional. Yeah, I agree with them.
- 1:13:29I think, I think it's Matt Smith's easily, best performance
- 1:13:31of 37. The my opinion knowing but
- 1:13:35there's a question, another question for you ready?
- 1:13:37Yeah. Steven.
- 1:13:38Alex, are we gonna do? He's just like Freddy Krueger.
- 1:13:40He's always coming at me. He's always going to be off my
- 1:13:43opinion. Does a midseason Oddball episode
- 1:13:46really War of the doctor bursting into tears and going,
- 1:13:49emotionally stratospheric. I mean, it doesn't really matter
- 1:13:55if it's very, surely, should always be aiming to do the most
- 1:14:00A biggest and best thing with dr.
- 1:14:03If you got given an episode of Doctor Who to, right?
- 1:14:05You're not just going to go. Well this is MIT.
- 1:14:07It's Airy so I'll just do it after you go is fucking balls to
- 1:14:11the wall as you could. He be having so much sex.
- 1:14:13I'll tell you what. Honestly, it was the sort of
- 1:14:17person that writes a midsize episode is more gays would cold
- 1:14:20war that someone sat down. Absolutely right here.
- 1:14:24Is it like it's a midseason? Yeah, he's really sat down
- 1:14:27again. This is only mid series.
- 1:14:29All Cornell wasn't when he It down on top.
- 1:14:31Top human nature from his book. It didn't go.
- 1:14:33Well, y'all were going to make this like a mid season episode,
- 1:14:35you know, yeah, exactly. Neil cross was thinking, this is
- 1:14:38gonna be the, the finale of all Doctor, Who, and Steven Moffat
- 1:14:43was like, I'm going to sit down and write blink, you watch it.
- 1:14:46I'm going to knock those all those little fuckers out of the
- 1:14:48park, okay. Yes.
- 1:14:52That Joe short says, I checked out the series by this point.
- 1:14:56As I didn't like anyone in it. Oh my God.
- 1:15:00Well Joe, I understand, I do I mean, I don't know how if you
- 1:15:07don't like anyone in it, that suggests didn't like Matt Smith
- 1:15:10so it's quite a late point in the Smithy or to check out.
- 1:15:14That is true. That is true.
- 1:15:15What Joe wants to come on and do a commentary on sleeping them or
- 1:15:19so? Oh, maybe that's that.
- 1:15:22They're okay. Well, I've got a question for
- 1:15:24you again from Simon heart. The love of my life, is this a
- 1:15:27story where even Doctor Who's much bigger?
- 1:15:30Budget. Now, can't quite match.
- 1:15:33The writing. Can they pull the visuals off?
- 1:15:36I actually think the right in is not asking for huge amounts.
- 1:15:43I think it's an episode where they've gone, we want to try our
- 1:15:47best to make this, this episode look absolutely amazing.
- 1:15:51I think they could compromise certain aspects of this quite
- 1:15:55easily, I think. But they've obviously gone Balls
- 1:15:58to the walls to try and make it a Big alien planet thing.
- 1:16:04I tell you think you should ever restrict Doctor Who really,
- 1:16:08especially modern Doctor, Who all Classic Series in Little
- 1:16:11Pirate Planet. Le is like, yeah, we're gonna
- 1:16:12have a space jumping planet, that is of a planet or off this
- 1:16:19times. When you think, or maybe I do
- 1:16:22like the Bob Baker episodes, you know, there they were always
- 1:16:25renowned for may be aiming too high but then It's going to
- 1:16:31balance out, isn't it different? Right.
- 1:16:33Is different Vibes, different episodes every week.
- 1:16:37That's the beauty of doctor. I don't think you should ever
- 1:16:39restrict it because of money. Be ambitious in the writing and
- 1:16:42the production. Yeah.
- 1:16:44You're gonna fall on your face. Well, you're gonna do it.
- 1:16:46Don't to fans are very forgiving or apparently, not, and there's
- 1:16:51Nathan bottomley chipped in at the end of that, by the way and
- 1:16:53said, no, they can't really, but I'm not sorry.
- 1:16:54They try it which I think it's a great answer.
- 1:16:58Yeah. okay, if we got What did God say?
- 1:17:09That begins with an ex Eric streets toss?
- 1:17:12Wrists toss Curtis. Here we go.
- 1:17:15Oh it's also a three-parter gone off you go.
- 1:17:17I recently watched again and enjoyed it.
- 1:17:20Some great visuals, not one monster, but three, nice bits of
- 1:17:24world-building and interesting premise, I thought it was very
- 1:17:27much like the Beast Below in construction.
- 1:17:29He did say that this is the companions episode.
- 1:17:33Clara saves the day, like a me, I Under if the dislike stems
- 1:17:37from being otherworldly, and it is the human companion that safe
- 1:17:41today and not the alien, the doctor not being dr.
- 1:17:44Shand North Course, literally, by the budget, is the problem.
- 1:17:52Hello. We're Planet Savage.
- 1:17:55It is especially interesting and it is different change.
- 1:17:57I don't think it looks bad at all.
- 1:18:00Maybe I'm just a lives. He is visually interesting.
- 1:18:02So yes, it goes on to say, I also think this goes back to the
- 1:18:08fairy tale and I'm off at Series 5, kept thinking of Hansel and
- 1:18:12Gretel escaping from the gingerbread house appearance. /
- 1:18:15reality, the trapping children eating children, / childhood,
- 1:18:20memories the which being tricked into the okay?
- 1:18:23He's lost me a bit Saucy. Yeah, I agree with the fairy
- 1:18:27tale and and the episodes of Series 7 there.
- 1:18:31By far, my favorite are the ones that bring that back.
- 1:18:34So this and the snowman are probably my two.
- 1:18:36Six and risto skirt is I applaud you.
- 1:18:40You manage to fit more content in three tweets than I use you
- 1:18:43doing in at our podcast. Thank you very much eating
- 1:18:46children. Are there really?
- 1:18:47I don't get that bit. So it's okay if they're on the
- 1:18:51menu. Okay.
- 1:18:53Jason Thompson has to say should be great, some intriguing ideas
- 1:18:56but it bugs the hell out of me that they seem to forget what
- 1:18:58spaces are you only to give them some context, right?
- 1:19:01Because he knows his science, this is a guy who had a nervous
- 1:19:04breakdown over kill the moon. All right.
- 1:19:07It became famous on a forum because he went so insane.
- 1:19:09Overkill, the moon, he became famous for its finest was wonky.
- 1:19:14He puts flying between, asteroids, on the space bike
- 1:19:17with hair flapping in the wind, indeed.
- 1:19:20And what happens if you get rid of something, the thing you're
- 1:19:24standing on is orbiting just, oh, like, you're right.
- 1:19:32So because kill the Moon, is our moon that one really W meal, I
- 1:19:38am. So I'm on each side there that
- 1:19:40one, it's all that is unforgivable to of it.
- 1:19:43I think if you make that any other Moon it you can buy it
- 1:19:47honestly, but you make it a smooth and they're trying to but
- 1:19:50that human element again, though they said well, yeah, that that
- 1:19:53says, let's make it reliable, but this, you can just go well
- 1:19:56with it. Honestly, it's that could send
- 1:19:59physics. That's literally how I explain
- 1:20:01it in my jacket out physics. This base physics, as Terry
- 1:20:05Nation would say, yeah. Yeah, you go for what?
- 1:20:08Me gonna come at me now and say that space.
- 1:20:10Physics is like an oxymoron. Also see does also say, the
- 1:20:15music is great and the long song is a Murray gold Triumph.
- 1:20:20Amen, really there. Now we're nearly there.
- 1:20:23Come on, yes, I've got Shaney, he's just reply with a picture
- 1:20:28sunglasses with Nails in the and it's got four like so further
- 1:20:36and the For wittiest, we do that.
- 1:20:39Ladies not a word spoken The Fabulous.
- 1:20:43Peter Kaminsky says, I really love it too, especially the
- 1:20:47design of it. I know it's cheesy as hell but
- 1:20:50the leaf speech gets me every time.
- 1:20:53Yes got pro-lifer, we're Pro leaf on this point.
- 1:21:02Very Pete Lambert says, well it's a gift for Back to the
- 1:21:06Future. ER but says it's leave.
- 1:21:09You idiots make like a tree and leave.
- 1:21:13You sound like a damn fool. It's because I said I liked it.
- 1:21:19Yeah we'll also give you some context.
- 1:21:20This is the only episode of Doctor Who that he has never
- 1:21:23seen. Oh, right.
- 1:21:25Pop that night. And then when he came over and
- 1:21:27saw the reaction to it, it's just a watch it.
- 1:21:29Oh my if I came home from the pub and there's a reaction.
- 1:21:33How could you resist? What should it do you resist?
- 1:21:37I've never seen. Can you hear me?
- 1:21:39Have, you know, that's my one. I've never seen though.
- 1:21:42Attacked, well, I tapped Out. Join series 12 and then I sort
- 1:21:45of watched a few and that's just the one that seemingly evaded.
- 1:21:49I've just got no interest to go and put it on my watch.
- 1:21:52It was a commentary on that are make you watch it.
- 1:21:56Yeah, the issue. If we did a commentary, I can't
- 1:21:59watch got no free, watch it. And then yeah again, yeah.
- 1:22:04Well look, I think we've Covered the length and breadth of Akutan
- 1:22:09in some depth there. Yes.
- 1:22:11Do you feel as if you have? It's sponged your soul and it
- 1:22:15given enough reasons as to why people should like this.
- 1:22:18Yeah, so I've always got too much to say, Joy another
- 1:22:21shocking comments. I've said this is the best
- 1:22:24doctor performance of all time. On the night this readout.
- 1:22:27It's just amazing. Because hang on, wait, I need to
- 1:22:30prepare myself because I know it's going to be something truly
- 1:22:32shocking. Okay, okay.
- 1:22:35On the night. This I watched it four times and
- 1:22:39in in the 24-hour period, from what it was out, I'd watched it
- 1:22:42seven times. I loved it.
- 1:22:45How come just now as I said, what how many times have you
- 1:22:49seen it now? Oh fuck.
- 1:22:51Countless countless. Countless your, and you could
- 1:22:53quote this back to back. No, actually I sugar.
- 1:22:57It's, you know, sometimes when you watch stuff so much that you
- 1:23:00love you just not even mentally taking note of the quotes or
- 1:23:05whatever. Well Luke, this is your sylla's
- 1:23:09moment of truth. If you could quote the entirety
- 1:23:12of the rims marketer back-to-back, you're going to
- 1:23:15win a fabulous. Set of matching, egg cups of
- 1:23:18you. Go at that, I can do loving
- 1:23:20monsters, probably 80 or 90%. That's because I had to like
- 1:23:24study the transcript so I can Your reference to every joke in
- 1:23:28that story that I wrote. Well, thank you very much for
- 1:23:33coming on tonight. This was, I was so excited about
- 1:23:36doing this one because it's blind and I knew we were going
- 1:23:40to be positive about it, and that's a wonderful thing to do,
- 1:23:43so, thank you. Thank you.
- 1:23:44I loved it. It's great being back on again.
- 1:23:47It's great. What we are going to do and what
- 1:23:49we said we were going to do in the past.
- 1:23:50Now I got a feeling, I want to find a classic Who Now does not
- 1:23:54love that you and I Of and we will do the same thing but you
- 1:23:58and I and your podcast co-host are planning on dip diving into
- 1:24:04Mafia again. Are we were gonna do flesh and
- 1:24:07stone? Yeah, we said a zygote our veins
- 1:24:09as fast as 30 way we should definitely get around to that.
- 1:24:13Yeah. If you could scare Chris on, I
- 1:24:15know he's Keen. He was just busy tonight.
- 1:24:17Otherwise, he could have been here with us.
- 1:24:20I would actually like to do on that.
