- 0:00Speaker 1: What's better than two hours of Mark Simone? Three! The
- 0:04Speaker 1: Mark Simone Show, now nine till noon weekdays, 710WOR. Hey,
- 0:12Speaker 1: let's take some calls. Let's go to Ron in Smithtown,
- 0:16Speaker 1: Long Island. Ron, how you doing?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Yeah, hi, Mark. This is for the two and a
- 0:22Speaker 2: half million senior drivers in New York State, both Republicans
- 0:25Speaker 2: and Democrats. Did you know that Governor Hochul, if re-elected,
- 0:29Speaker 2: plans to make all senior drivers as young as 65
- 0:33Speaker 2: be retested every three years, and those over 85 every year,
- 0:38Speaker 2: even if they have perfect driving records?
- 0:41Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I don't know if that's a bad idea.
- 0:44Speaker 2: This has been in the works for a year already,
- 0:47Speaker 2: but they delayed starting it until after the election.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Well, I don't know if she's really going to do
- 0:50Speaker 1: that or she'll ever get that passed.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Florida's doing it.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yeah, well, Florida, they should do it. You ever drive
- 0:55Speaker 1: in Florida?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yes, I had a house there.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Now, you live in Long Island. She's going to do
- 1:03Speaker 1: the congestion pricing everywhere. You'll have it on Northern Boulevard.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You'll have it everywhere. You'll have it on Jericho Turnpike.
- 1:09Speaker 1: You're going to have it everywhere. It's going to be everywhere.
- 1:13Speaker 1: So a lot of reasons to vote against Kathy Hochul.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Do it today. Do the early voting. Go out and
- 1:19Speaker 1: vote against her. Let's go to Dave in Chicago. Dave,
- 1:22Speaker 1: how are you doing?
- 1:24Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark. I'm doing very well, thank you. Mark,
- 1:27Speaker 3: in the nostalgia department, I remember back in the day
- 1:30Speaker 3: the hot Christmas toys, such as Cabbage Patch Dolls, Rubik's Cube,
- 1:35Speaker 3: Care Bear, Furby, Beanie Babies. My question is, in some cases,
- 1:42Speaker 3: fights would break out in stores because there wasn't enough.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Has this craze stopped?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Well, yeah. Now, you know, you order online. In the
- 1:51Speaker 1: old days, it was a mom-and-pop store. They didn't stock enough.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Now you order it online. Of course, Amazon has plenty
- 1:56Speaker 1: of it. Rubik's Cube. I always had one of those.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I could never do it. I could never get anywhere
- 2:01Speaker 1: with it. I mean, anybody can actually finish a Rubik's Cube.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Something is wrong with you. You know what? Just go
- 2:07Speaker 1: be on Jeopardy. Stop bothering people. But it looks good.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It's a nice little decorating thing, a Rubik's Cube somewhere.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Let's go to Barbie in New York. Barbie, how you doing?
- 2:18Speaker 4: Hi, Mark. Mark, why do you always say.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Obama is a good speaker?
- 2:25Speaker 1: Oh, he's a great speaker. He sounds like a babbling idiot.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I hate to break it to you. He's quite an orator.
- 2:32Speaker 1: He's pretty good at it. I mean, everything he's saying
- 2:34Speaker 1: might be a lie or crazy, but powerful orator. That's
- 2:38Speaker 1: how he got elected president. This guy never had a
- 2:40Speaker 1: job in his life, and he's president of the United States. Oh,
- 2:43Speaker 1: he was a senator, but only for 143 days did
- 2:46Speaker 1: he actually serve in the Senate. The guy went from
- 2:48Speaker 1: nowhere to president just by being a great speaker. Let's
- 2:52Speaker 1: go to Sharon in New Jersey. Sharon, how you doing?
- 2:58Speaker 4: Hi, good morning, Mark. Thanks for taking my call. And
- 3:00Speaker 4: I am a big fan of yours, and I think
- 3:01Speaker 4: you're the best one on WOR. But my question is, yesterday,
- 3:05Speaker 4: Mikey Sherrill came out and said, it's fine for non-citizens
- 3:08Speaker 4: to vote in New Jersey. Don't you have to be
- 3:10Speaker 4: a citizen? And with all the scandal going on about
- 3:13Speaker 4: people who shouldn't be voting, which I know there always are.
- 3:16Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 3:17Speaker 4: Can you do that?
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's New Jersey. What the hell is wrong
- 3:21Speaker 1: with you people? You keep electing these crazy governors in
- 3:24Speaker 1: New Jersey. Why do you keep doing that?
- 3:26Speaker 4: I don't keep electing them.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I don't mean you personally, but in New Jersey. Look
- 3:29Speaker 1: at the governors you've had. Not just the Democrats. Some
- 3:33Speaker 1: of the Republican governors. They're all ridiculous choices, these Democrats.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Mikey Sherrill?
- 3:39Speaker 5: I agree.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Who was the governor before that? I'm blanking out. Who
- 3:42Speaker 1: was governor before Mikey Sherrill?
- 3:45Speaker 4: Oh, before that? Oh, he was horrible. That one from
- 3:47Speaker 4: Goldman Sachs.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Remember the Goldman Sachs with the beard? Didn't he get
- 3:51Speaker 1: indicted for something?
- 3:52Speaker 4: Oh, that was Corzine. He was a rival, but this
- 3:54Speaker 4: was the last time. I think he was such a
- 3:56Speaker 4: bad memory, and now I have to bring my own
- 4:00Speaker 4: bags to the shop, right? Because he took them away.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 4:04Speaker 4: I forgot his name. And I just think I'm blanking
- 4:07Speaker 4: out because I'm glad he's.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Not governor anymore.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Well, they're like nightmares, these governors. You have to forget them. Now, Corzine,
- 4:11Speaker 1: I don't think he got indicted, but there was some
- 4:13Speaker 1: kind of scandal where it was the Obama administration that
- 4:16Speaker 1: had to make it go away. Let's go to Ernie
- 4:19Speaker 1: in Morristown.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Ernie.
- 4:21Speaker 1: How you doing?
- 4:23Speaker 5: Good, good.
- 4:24Speaker 6: Mark, you know, during the course of business, I drive
- 4:27Speaker 6: a lot in the Huntington area.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 6: And these campaign signs, what I never see is, am
- 4:33Speaker 6: I a Republican or a Democrat?
- 4:36Speaker 5: What's up with that?
- 4:37Speaker 6: Don't you think that you'd want to know who is
- 4:40Speaker 6: represented by who? You know, it's kind of odd.
- 4:42Speaker 1: You mean they just put the name, they don't put
- 4:44Speaker 1: the party?
- 4:46Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You know, all of the signs.
- 4:47Speaker 6: I'm out in Ashroken right now. Nobody's got it. They
- 4:50Speaker 6: have their name, but are they a Republican?
- 4:52Speaker 4: Are they a Democrat?
- 4:53Speaker 1: It's pretty deliberate.
- 4:54Speaker 5: It's just I find it amazing.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I know what you're saying, but who cares? It's
- 4:58Speaker 1: these lawn signs. Stop with the lawn signs. Nobody's going
- 5:01Speaker 1: to change their vote because you've got a lawn sign.
- 5:04Speaker 1: You're driving along and you see a lawn sign. Hochul.
- 5:07Speaker 1: You're not going to go, oh, wow, I guess I'm wrong. Okay, Hochul.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Who the hell's listening to a lawn sign? And as
- 5:14Speaker 1: soon as you put your lawn sign down on the curb,
- 5:16Speaker 1: on the corner, there's 37 other signs all around it.
- 5:20Speaker 1: And next thing you know, they stop at the lawn signs.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Let's go to Vincent in Brooklyn. Vincent, how you doing?
- 5:26Speaker 5: Good morning, Mark. Mark, I'm okay. You were speaking about
- 5:30Speaker 5: John Corzine, who mysteriously couldn't account for $ 50 billion in investors' funds.
- 5:39Speaker 5: He went before Congress. They had held congressional hearings. And
- 5:43Speaker 5: he did a Joe Biden. Oh, I don't know where
- 5:47Speaker 5: the money went. If that was anybody else, you'd be
- 5:50Speaker 5: doing what he made all the time, rotting in jail.
- 5:52Speaker 1: When he had money at Goldman Sachs, somehow it got
- 5:55Speaker 1: taken out of your account. I mean, it was not right,
- 5:57Speaker 1: whatever happened in. He was responsible as chairman at the time.
- 6:01Speaker 5: $ 50 billion it was. Mark, this cop who killed the
- 6:06Speaker 5: guy on the George Washington Bridge. If he, depending on
- 6:11Speaker 5: which side of the bridge, because there's a dividing line
- 6:14Speaker 5: right down the middle that says New York or New Jersey,
- 6:18Speaker 5: he better hope that it was on the Jersey side
- 6:21Speaker 5: because or the feds charge him with civil rights violations.
- 6:26Speaker 5: Because let me tell you right now, and this is
- 6:28Speaker 5: why this guy should plead out. If he goes to
- 6:32Speaker 5: state prison in New York, I would put a cow
- 6:36Speaker 5: sheep bet that he doesn't last six months. Or they're
- 6:40Speaker 5: going to have to keep him in solitary confinement for
- 6:45Speaker 5: 23 hours a day. And this is why I said that. Yeah,
- 6:48Speaker 5: but he's an ex-cop.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You think maybe the correctional officers as an ex-cop might
- 6:52Speaker 1: try to take care of him?
- 6:54Speaker 5: Protect him uh no what's gonna happen is is some
- 6:58Speaker 5: life uh since we don't have the debt penalty in
- 7:01Speaker 5: new york some life uh he'll stick a shiv in
- 7:04Speaker 5: his liver in the showers and that'll be done because
- 7:10Speaker 5: people like him it's getting.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Close to lunchtime i know you're not wrong but uh.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Mark, people like him are the dirty cops, and that
- 7:22Speaker 5: you killed a brother? Forget about it. I'd put my
- 7:27Speaker 5: money six months the guy lasts, if even that. Or
- 7:32Speaker 5: if he goes to federal prison, Mark.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:35Speaker 5: He could cut a deal like that creep, what was his,
- 7:39Speaker 5: the Gilgo Beach Killer. He could cut a deal. He
- 7:41Speaker 5: could say, send me here. The food is better.
- 7:44Speaker 1: All right, that's all. That's good advice, Vincent. You're absolutely right. Listen,
- 7:48Speaker 1: this guy is just a nightmare monster. He shot a wonderful,
- 7:52Speaker 1: innocent man for absolutely no reason at all. So no
- 7:55Speaker 1: sympathy for that guy. Hey, when we come back, we'll
- 7:57Speaker 1: talk to Howie Carr next on 710WOR.
