- 0:36Speaker 1: of and now here's jan Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome
- 0:41Speaker 1: to this episode of Cats and Pudding. And today I
- 0:43Speaker 1: have a really great guess, Avida sko Chassi. I said
- 0:48Speaker 1: it right, right, yeah, very good. First try. I didn't
- 0:51Speaker 1: mess it up. And she is a designer and she
- 0:56Speaker 1: is a self made businesswoman. Here, she's one to fall
- 1:01Speaker 1: and she's got a great story. And I am so
- 1:05Speaker 1: excited to have you on the show today. So please
- 1:07Speaker 1: let's start and let's hear how you became this this
- 1:12Speaker 1: fashion sensation that you are.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Well, thank you for the introduction and I'm honored to
- 1:16Speaker 4: be on the show. Yeah, I mean, if you want
- 1:19Speaker 4: to start back in the day when I started my
- 1:21Speaker 4: swimmer line.
- 1:22Speaker 3: So I wasn't like a typical girl.
- 1:24Speaker 4: I wanted to do online school, so I convinced my
- 1:26Speaker 4: mom in high school to let me do cyber school
- 1:29Speaker 4: for two years.
- 1:31Speaker 1: She was not how did you do that?
- 1:33Speaker 4: I had like like a whole business but you could
- 1:35Speaker 4: basically a business plan and be like, hey, this is
- 1:37Speaker 4: why this works.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I'll make money, you know all that stuff.
- 1:40Speaker 4: And I just kind of got into the fashion world.
- 1:43Speaker 4: I started modeling, so that kind of got my like,
- 1:45Speaker 4: you know, creative when.
- 1:46Speaker 1: You're absolutely beautiful, so you should.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Be thank you. Yeah, my uncle convinced me. I was
- 1:49Speaker 3: like fine. I thought she was a tall boy, but
- 1:51Speaker 3: I was like, no, I'm not. And then I.
- 1:54Speaker 4: Decided to just kind of like upcycle my own clothes.
- 1:57Speaker 4: And then I did a lot of traveling for modeling.
- 1:59Speaker 4: I was mostly swimwear, which was fun. When I was
- 2:02Speaker 4: in Italy in my home base, I got to like
- 2:04Speaker 4: have a good contact with actually.
- 2:06Speaker 3: This one designer.
- 2:08Speaker 4: She was selling her standby clothes for her daughter and
- 2:11Speaker 4: I was like trying to find inspo. I'm like, what
- 2:13Speaker 4: do I do, Like, I don't even know how to
- 2:15Speaker 4: get in the fashion world.
- 2:17Speaker 3: And she said that you just have to find like
- 2:18Speaker 3: your niche.
- 2:20Speaker 4: And then I realized I'm already traveling around the world
- 2:22Speaker 4: for swimwear.
- 2:24Speaker 1: You like it, Yeah, it looks good.
- 2:26Speaker 4: On you, exactly right, and I'm confident I'm gonna wear
- 2:29Speaker 4: a lot. So I was like, why not just get
- 2:31Speaker 4: to shoot, you know, my swimmer line.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And then they so beautiful pieces. I wish, I hope
- 2:36Speaker 1: I would love to wear it, but I don't think
- 2:37Speaker 1: I have that. I don't have that you would.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I have to give you an apters whatever one you want,
- 2:41Speaker 4: it's for you.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I thank you. But yeah, So that's how my swimmer
- 2:44Speaker 3: brands started.
- 2:45Speaker 4: And then I, you know, went to school in fashion,
- 2:48Speaker 4: which was in New York.
- 2:49Speaker 3: I actually didn't want to go to New Parsons Okay.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Yes, I was like no, but I got in, so
- 2:55Speaker 4: I was like, okay, let's try this out. And then
- 2:58Speaker 4: from there, during covid it, I did Miami Swim Week
- 3:02Speaker 4: for my design.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Is that how you met?
- 3:04Speaker 3: No, not yet, I didn't meet him yet.
- 3:06Speaker 4: And then I met him honestly, just at Lifetime or
- 3:09Speaker 4: that's where I live the building. But anyways, going back
- 3:12Speaker 4: to that, when I came back, I was like, why
- 3:15Speaker 4: isn't there like a New York some week.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I'm like, this is a great market.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And there was, and there isn't no because it's because
- 3:22Speaker 1: it's cold up here, so there's not a swim week.
- 3:24Speaker 1: But it's great that you did that because there's a
- 3:28Speaker 1: market and it's like the heart of fashion, and I
- 3:31Speaker 1: feel like swim whear shouldn't really be during fashion week.
- 3:34Speaker 4: So I was like, Okay, let's try this. It was
- 3:36Speaker 4: during COVID, so nobody was like caring if it went
- 3:38Speaker 4: bad or not. You know, everyone was trying to do something.
- 3:40Speaker 4: And then from there it just kind of snowballed into
- 3:43Speaker 4: this like big thing I do every year now.
- 3:46Speaker 1: But that's amazing. Look, it's such a nice event. It
- 3:48Speaker 1: was beautiful. I got to sit front row. I was
- 3:51Speaker 1: so excited.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Yeah, your off.
- 3:52Speaker 1: It was thank you, thank you girl. I had a
- 3:56Speaker 1: Manda Jean. Amanda Jean. She's great, she got a great boutique.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I love her. She's great stuff. But yeah, I mean
- 4:03Speaker 1: it was beautiful. It was. It was. It was well
- 4:08Speaker 1: thought out and well presented. It was really nice. I
- 4:12Speaker 1: love the space and it was just it was really good.
- 4:15Speaker 1: And you had and all the other designers that you
- 4:17Speaker 1: had had really beautiful stuff too, So it was nice
- 4:20Speaker 1: that that, you know, you included them into this. Do
- 4:23Speaker 1: you the other designers that were there, are you friends
- 4:26Speaker 1: with them? Did you you met them through the business?
- 4:28Speaker 1: And I mean are you like because I know a
- 4:30Speaker 1: lot of people are in competition with each other? Right, yes?
- 4:33Speaker 1: Do you do you fought? Are you friends with them?
- 4:36Speaker 4: Like?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Do you get inspiration from them too? Yeah?
- 4:39Speaker 4: So actually some of them are like my ogs, they've
- 4:41Speaker 4: done my show for multiple years. And then I get
- 4:44Speaker 4: a lot of new brands that want to like that
- 4:46Speaker 4: are actually in New York City. I didn't realize how
- 4:48Speaker 4: much small bands already here that we're just like now
- 4:50Speaker 4: a community now where we like help each other and grow,
- 4:53Speaker 4: And I'm trying to make that more of like a
- 4:55Speaker 4: base so we can like expand you know, into different
- 4:59Speaker 4: industry industry, I guess, like different places right around the world.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Do you do you have a do you have a
- 5:06Speaker 1: favorite swim? Swim? Were besides your own? Because of course
- 5:09Speaker 1: you have to love you all.
- 5:09Speaker 4: But this is something that you love besides. I really
- 5:13Speaker 4: like this brand called ocean Is. It's just kind of
- 5:15Speaker 4: like a throwback to like Beverly Hills, like eighties, but
- 5:19Speaker 4: like very like big hair chic, and her detail is amazing.
- 5:22Speaker 3: I want to like learn how she beads so perfectly.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Oh I love that. I'm gonna have to look that
- 5:26Speaker 1: up too. I mean, your stuff is great. I you know,
- 5:30Speaker 1: it's funny. I never, I never I like that you
- 5:34Speaker 1: do that. You're doing this now. It's like when you
- 5:36Speaker 1: ever think about bikini modeling, You're thinking of these like
- 5:38Speaker 1: you know, these, these these women with a number across
- 5:42Speaker 1: their shirt walking and be like, you know, just bikini modeling,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but not actually noticing the fashion and make the tour
- 5:49Speaker 1: right and do a gu tour. So it's like, it's
- 5:50Speaker 1: nice how you brought that in and it's real because
- 5:54Speaker 1: it is fashionable to go on a beach and have
- 5:56Speaker 1: this beautiful baby. So because honestly, I'm on a beach
- 5:59Speaker 1: old day, I'm not throwing clothes on all day. So
- 6:01Speaker 1: for me, the boy, this gorgeous cover up to wear,
- 6:04Speaker 1: and I'm like, I don't want to cover up my
- 6:05Speaker 1: bathing suit. I want to I don't first and I
- 6:07Speaker 1: want to cover up all day. I want to be
- 6:08Speaker 1: you want to be like right, so wearing this this
- 6:11Speaker 1: beautiful bathing suit and this like you know not that
- 6:15Speaker 1: there wasn't any beautiful bathing suits before there was, there
- 6:18Speaker 1: was compass in habit but now it's I feel like
- 6:20Speaker 1: it's more upscale now where that that you guys have
- 6:24Speaker 1: have tapped it to something that's you know a little different.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Right, And it's like, you know, it's like always it's
- 6:29Speaker 4: not like summer. It's like something in Australia right now.
- 6:31Speaker 4: So even like it's like always like someone's buying a swimsuit,
- 6:34Speaker 4: you know what I mean?
- 6:34Speaker 1: Right? So people always go on vacation too, right, So yeah, right,
- 6:39Speaker 1: it's perfect so it's not just once. Even people here
- 6:42Speaker 1: in New York people go on vacation, so they want
- 6:44Speaker 1: swim swimwear.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Right yeah, And we live in a world where like
- 6:46Speaker 4: you wear it once, you can't really wear it again, right,
- 6:49Speaker 4: So it's like, you know, you want something new, not
- 6:51Speaker 4: everything's so trendy.
- 6:52Speaker 3: You want like, you know, different unique pieces.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Yes, yes, Do you do you see yourself doing anything
- 6:58Speaker 1: else besides this when we're at some point or do
- 7:01Speaker 1: you think you're just gonna stick to swim.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Where for the show itself?
- 7:05Speaker 4: Production wise, I definitely want to grow that market with
- 7:08Speaker 4: my brand, But I do see myself expanding. I also
- 7:12Speaker 4: am a full time event coordinator, so I coordinate events
- 7:14Speaker 4: for like clients and also.
- 7:17Speaker 3: A brand itself.
- 7:18Speaker 4: So I kind of want to expand my margins of
- 7:20Speaker 4: like maybe creating an agency because I'm really good at
- 7:23Speaker 4: like bring people together, and also, you know, with my
- 7:25Speaker 4: events my clients, because I'm leading so many different brands
- 7:29Speaker 4: that like I can help work together. And also I'm
- 7:31Speaker 4: really good at booking models as well. So I'm trying
- 7:33Speaker 4: to see how I can put that alt together expand.
- 7:35Speaker 1: That maybe you'll be the next elite you know, that
- 7:39Speaker 1: would be that would be great. What what?
- 7:41Speaker 2: How long?
- 7:42Speaker 1: Like how long when you modeled? How long did you model?
- 7:45Speaker 1: Like have it like? What did you model from a
- 7:48Speaker 1: few years before you started designing the bathing suits? Like
- 7:51Speaker 1: how long was that for?
- 7:52Speaker 4: Yes, I started modeling, I would say when I was
- 7:55Speaker 4: like seventeen, And how well.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Do you know if you don't want me asking.
- 8:00Speaker 3: It's okay, I am twenty six.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh Jesus, I got shoes older than
- 8:06Speaker 1: your your age. Oh my god. No, you're an amazing girl.
- 8:10Speaker 1: You're a woman, I should say girl, a woman. So
- 8:13Speaker 1: you started at seventeen and you're twenty six down and
- 8:15Speaker 1: look what you've been doing. This is amazing.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it's fun and sometimes you're like you always forget
- 8:19Speaker 4: about the Journey's actually the funnest part because once you
- 8:21Speaker 4: get there, you're like, Okay, what do I do now?
- 8:23Speaker 3: But I'm still growing, always evolving.
- 8:25Speaker 1: You know, well you have. You have plenty of time
- 8:28Speaker 1: to evolve. You're young, and you've accomplished so much. That's
- 8:30Speaker 1: so amazing. Your parents supposed to be so proud of you.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Yeah, my mom is my best friend. She's amazing, and
- 8:35Speaker 4: my dad's good support too.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Do they live in the New York because I know
- 8:40Speaker 1: you said you were from you you're originally from New York.
- 8:43Speaker 4: No, I'm from Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh area. So my mom was
- 8:46Speaker 4: in Pennsylvania, my dad was in Texas.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Okay, where do you like better? Pennsylvania or Texas?
- 8:52Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't think I like either of that.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I'm like, why couldn't you pick like Miami or something
- 8:57Speaker 3: like it's warm?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Why you should you should be you should do a
- 9:01Speaker 1: bikini shoot on a horse in Texas. That would be great.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Okay, that could be my new camp.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I say, yeah, I want credit for that.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Okay, well, I'll put you in.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I want to come. I want to I want to
- 9:10Speaker 1: come on your campaign. Since I did that, you can
- 9:12Speaker 1: put them all. Honestly, I would love that. I'd love
- 9:15Speaker 1: to do that there. Yeah, you know, for women my
- 9:20Speaker 1: age could still wear a bikini.
- 9:22Speaker 3: We will we amazing, gorgeous.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I want Oh my god, I love you. Stop stop
- 9:27Speaker 1: keep going. I love that. So so do you see
- 9:32Speaker 1: them regularly? Your parents and your brothers and sisters.
- 9:36Speaker 3: So it's kind of funny.
- 9:36Speaker 4: I have eight siblings, Jesus, I know, I don't really
- 9:40Speaker 4: see them all often.
- 9:41Speaker 1: They all from your mom and dad together. That's it's
- 9:45Speaker 1: it's different badges, okay, different batches.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'm in the o G first batch.
- 9:50Speaker 1: It's a it's good to be in the o G batches.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Like the main characters. No, but yeah, I see like
- 9:56Speaker 4: most of my blood sisters more often. And onst of
- 9:59Speaker 4: my dad is like busy, he's a doctor. But I'm
- 10:01Speaker 4: gonna go home for thanks Giving to my mom.
- 10:03Speaker 1: So sedding. That's exciting. And are you your sisters brothers
- 10:08Speaker 1: live in the city too, and now they live.
- 10:10Speaker 3: And no, I'm the only one lone will Yeah.
- 10:13Speaker 1: And you came home by yourself. It is how long
- 10:15Speaker 1: have you been living here?
- 10:16Speaker 3: Four years?
- 10:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and you just picked up and said, hey, I'm
- 10:19Speaker 1: moving to the scary city and I just did it. Yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I just you kind of just have to.
- 10:24Speaker 3: You can't really think about it moving New York.
- 10:25Speaker 1: You know, I look at this and now you have
- 10:27Speaker 1: a fashion show. Right, I lived in my whole life.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I don't have a fashion show. Like, it's just amazing
- 10:34Speaker 1: when you move on.
- 10:35Speaker 3: But yeah, you've be your mind to it. You can
- 10:37Speaker 3: do it. You're have a podcast, like what do you mean?
- 10:38Speaker 1: But like but you're like some stance. See what you
- 10:42Speaker 1: could do if you put your That's amazing and you're
- 10:45Speaker 1: that's it's it's possible right right. It's American dream man.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Yes, especially as a woman, and you know we're empowering people.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And and you are a very powerful woman right now
- 10:56Speaker 1: and you and you will be, I mean obviously now
- 10:58Speaker 1: with what you're doing, and you know you're to evolve.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You you have so many years ahead of you that
- 11:02Speaker 1: you could do so many things. Like look what you've
- 11:04Speaker 1: accomplished at such a young age. That's amazing. That's I
- 11:06Speaker 1: want to pop my hands. I don't want to sound condescending.
- 11:09Speaker 1: But I'm proud of you. That's so wonderful.
- 11:11Speaker 3: No, I really appreciate that.
- 11:13Speaker 1: No, it's it's it's nice. It's nice to get that.
- 11:16Speaker 1: And you're very not that you look older, but you
- 11:20Speaker 1: come across as you know, more mature. O. Right, that's
- 11:22Speaker 1: good I want to do because there's a lot of
- 11:25Speaker 1: twenty six year olds these days that are not mature.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I mean, let's say, yeah, you know what they're doing. No,
- 11:30Speaker 1: there's a lot. It's like they've skipped a decade or something.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Because when I was, when I was eighteen, my friends
- 11:35Speaker 1: were getting married having kids. It's like, now I can't
- 11:38Speaker 1: even pature my nineteen year old doing that. I'm lucky
- 11:41Speaker 1: she could. She you know, she doesn't burn boiler she
- 11:44Speaker 1: burns boiling water, like I'm so worried that she's going
- 11:46Speaker 1: to burn the house down. Like so it's like I
- 11:49Speaker 1: can now. It's you're you're, you're, you're like you you
- 11:54Speaker 1: carry yourself for sure, which is good. But still have
- 11:57Speaker 1: your beautiful kid self, which is you.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Yes, you know, I have five level a good time,
- 12:02Speaker 3: so it's balanced.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Do you have a boyfriend all married? I don't know
- 12:06Speaker 1: a girlfriend.
- 12:07Speaker 4: No, I don't have anyone at this time, but I'm
- 12:10Speaker 4: going to date tomorrow.
- 12:11Speaker 1: So the first time, And how did you meet them?
- 12:14Speaker 3: Honestly on the street. We were just walking.
- 12:17Speaker 1: They're old fashioned, you're great, right, Yeah, it's cool. Oh yeah,
- 12:20Speaker 1: it's cool. So you're excited about the date.
- 12:22Speaker 3: You haven't dated in like probably a year and a half.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Really, Yeah, did you ever have a long term boyfriend
- 12:28Speaker 1: or girlfriend?
- 12:29Speaker 4: I don't know, that's okay, Yeah, no I have, But
- 12:31Speaker 4: then it's just I feel like in the city, you
- 12:33Speaker 4: have to have at least like two.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Years by yourself to like find yourself.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's true. Yeah, did you feel like you
- 12:38Speaker 1: have to have a relationship with yourself first? Yes, well
- 12:40Speaker 1: you're doing a lot. How could you pay attention to somebody, right? Yeah?
- 12:44Speaker 4: And plus they ways, you know, and maybe they hold
- 12:46Speaker 4: you back or they you know, I want to be
- 12:47Speaker 4: like you, my true self and then once I can
- 12:49Speaker 4: be that.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Men know women, men? Okay? So so men, So there's
- 12:54Speaker 1: men and needies, let's be honest. Sometimes oh they so
- 12:59Speaker 1: are there? Such baby? So you know, it's it's hard
- 13:01Speaker 1: to you know, if you're in a relationship, especially if
- 13:04Speaker 1: it's sparking, you know, it's hard to, you know, be
- 13:09Speaker 1: involved in that when you're trying to grow something because
- 13:12Speaker 1: you whole your attention was probably doing what you were doing.
- 13:15Speaker 3: You're in the back seat, but they have.
- 13:16Speaker 1: To and sometimes they don't like to take a back seat. No,
- 13:19Speaker 1: we don't like to take a back seat, way way
- 13:21Speaker 1: the worst. But they really don't like to take the
- 13:23Speaker 1: back seat. No. So so that's nice. You're going to
- 13:26Speaker 1: go out detaur are you? So? Are you they in
- 13:29Speaker 1: the fashion industry too? Or you don't. You don't know
- 13:32Speaker 1: much about them yet.
- 13:33Speaker 3: I know much about them, but the location on.
- 13:36Speaker 1: That somebody has it just so that we know you
- 13:39Speaker 1: don't get kidnapped or anything. So you just met them
- 13:41Speaker 1: on the street. You might make a good story, though,
- 13:43Speaker 1: but God forbid that. I wouldn't want to.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I mean in a public space.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Give me, I put your location on. I want to
- 13:48Speaker 1: make sure and you can shut.
- 13:50Speaker 3: It off coming up a newspaper.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I'll be like that with the part with like looking
- 13:56Speaker 1: so as your as your dad or a protective dad
- 13:59Speaker 1: with you when you're.
- 14:01Speaker 4: Well, he's so busy that I really don't think he
- 14:04Speaker 4: knows what's happening.
- 14:06Speaker 1: But it's okay.
- 14:07Speaker 3: He's good support from far Oh well, that's good.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And what kind of what do you look for up
- 14:13Speaker 1: a and a guy.
- 14:15Speaker 4: You have to be driven definitely, like I know I
- 14:17Speaker 4: even maybe I have a nine to five, but I want
- 14:19Speaker 4: them to have like some sort of passion project to
- 14:21Speaker 4: keep evolving, because I feel like if they have it,
- 14:23Speaker 4: then they'll understand why I have so many passion projects.
- 14:26Speaker 3: And you have to be really.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Funny, like if you don't make me laugh, that's important.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Oh my god, I love that too. That's the same
- 14:32Speaker 1: way I am. You have to keep me entertained otherwise,
- 14:35Speaker 1: like I don't care how good looking you on because
- 14:37Speaker 1: that fades and I'm looking at you and you know,
- 14:40Speaker 1: I don't say anything. You're just looking at the mirror yourself. No, no,
- 14:43Speaker 1: I need somebody to entertain me. I have to always
- 14:45Speaker 1: entertained me too.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Has been fun or honest with their accent an accent,
- 14:48Speaker 3: I don't know, it's.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Not that what kind of an accent A Brooklyn accent?
- 14:53Speaker 1: I mean a New York accent or like a like
- 14:55Speaker 1: an Italian accent.
- 14:56Speaker 4: I don't know why, but really into like Irish Australian accent.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Oh.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I like that the Irish have a good accent.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I can't really understand them.
- 15:04Speaker 1: So it's so sex it's hot. It is hot, yeah,
- 15:07Speaker 1: it is a it is a good one. I like
- 15:09Speaker 1: that too, And so you have so you like so
- 15:13Speaker 1: we know you like Irish men. We know you like
- 15:15Speaker 1: a man with an accent, and you're like a strong,
- 15:17Speaker 1: driven man. Is it hard? Do you feel like now
- 15:20Speaker 1: these days it's hard for women and girls' roods to
- 15:23Speaker 1: find that kind of meat now, like to find somebody.
- 15:26Speaker 4: I think they're more feminine now, which is fine, Like
- 15:28Speaker 4: they're feminine characters coming out where they feel like you
- 15:30Speaker 4: should spill it the bill or I don't know.
- 15:33Speaker 3: I just feel like.
- 15:33Speaker 4: They're not so like they don't come up to you. You
- 15:36Speaker 4: don't I mean, and ask you out. It's more like
- 15:38Speaker 4: I don't know if look like they got shy or worse.
- 15:40Speaker 4: So I'm intimidating now, like I can take care of myself.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I don't really need them anymore. So maybe I don't know, but.
- 15:46Speaker 1: We kind of do need that, No, I do.
- 15:48Speaker 3: I realize you need one.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And you need a strong man. So it's very important
- 15:53Speaker 1: I think that men should young men need to I
- 15:56Speaker 1: think need to feel that they have to be more power.
- 15:59Speaker 1: And I think you know that everybody's been hammering down
- 16:01Speaker 1: on men so much, and well, like I said, and
- 16:05Speaker 1: I always say, all these new feminists are like, you know,
- 16:08Speaker 1: taking this away, like women have to do this.
- 16:10Speaker 3: No, we don't know, like we're too cute.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Sometimes yes, yeah, you know, I still wanted my door
- 16:17Speaker 1: held open with me. And I say this all the time.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I want chivalry. I want a strong man. And it's
- 16:21Speaker 1: very important to be a strong man because that's when
- 16:24Speaker 1: most relationships fails. That women get into these relationships with
- 16:27Speaker 1: these weak men and then they think because they could
- 16:30Speaker 1: tell them what to do, it's a good and it's not.
- 16:32Speaker 1: It's never a good thing like that. You need somebody
- 16:35Speaker 1: as strong or maybe a little bit.
- 16:38Speaker 3: They keep you in your spot, right.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Not being mean, not being aggressive, because I mean, I
- 16:42Speaker 1: know we say that, but then I'm like, yeah, what
- 16:44Speaker 1: are you saying me like that? But but you do
- 16:47Speaker 1: want that strong man and it's it's important for that.
- 16:50Speaker 1: So I hope that that, you know, I hope for
- 16:52Speaker 1: you guys, for your your generation, that maybe that they'll
- 16:55Speaker 1: start getting their getting their masculinity back with the with
- 16:59Speaker 1: the is what they need because it's important and especially
- 17:03Speaker 1: if you have children, you want to have that balance
- 17:05Speaker 1: of that of the femininity and the masculinity, right and
- 17:10Speaker 1: and that So okay, So so do you find it?
- 17:14Speaker 1: What do you you go online and like go on
- 17:16Speaker 1: like hindred things like that. I don't know.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I actually don't. I'm on any dating ads. I want
- 17:20Speaker 3: to meet something in person.
- 17:23Speaker 1: So you're a really old school event, I think.
- 17:24Speaker 3: So I think I have an old heart or soul
- 17:27Speaker 3: for they say.
- 17:28Speaker 1: You probably do. You've probably been here before. Maybe you've
- 17:31Speaker 1: probably been before you reincarnate at all. So what do
- 17:35Speaker 1: you think you're next? Like what is your next vision
- 17:38Speaker 1: for like like say next next next batch of your swimwear,
- 17:43Speaker 1: like the next season, Like what do you what are
- 17:44Speaker 1: you visioning? Can you give us like a little synopsis
- 17:47Speaker 1: on it?
- 17:48Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah, for my swimmer brand itself. I definitely realize
- 17:52Speaker 4: that I love like something like unique and iconic, but
- 17:55Speaker 4: I feel like something that's comfortable but chic, that really
- 17:58Speaker 4: shows cases your body. I really want to like dive
- 18:01Speaker 4: more into that because I want to be comfortable I
- 18:03Speaker 4: feel like I but also I do like to have
- 18:06Speaker 4: some pieces, you know, a.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Little bit more out there.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Yeah, but I want to find like, because I feel
- 18:10Speaker 4: like your true self, your confidence will like outshine the swimwear,
- 18:13Speaker 4: but your beauty will show through like the curves and
- 18:15Speaker 4: how it like fits your body for me.
- 18:18Speaker 3: So I want to take a spit on that.
- 18:19Speaker 4: And then with my show itself, I want to bring
- 18:21Speaker 4: more value to my designers. So I'm trying to I
- 18:25Speaker 4: won't say much yet, but a location maybe like a
- 18:28Speaker 4: campaign shoot that I can provide for all my designers,
- 18:32Speaker 4: so you're not just getting a show, You're getting like
- 18:34Speaker 4: a production right shoot as well.
- 18:36Speaker 1: That would be great, Yeah, that would be awesome. So
- 18:39Speaker 1: I mean, as far as I'm in it for myself.
- 18:41Speaker 1: With swimwear, sometimes you know, you I obviously want something
- 18:44Speaker 1: beautiful to wear and that and and it's really nice,
- 18:47Speaker 1: but you also don't want to buy because sometimes like
- 18:49Speaker 1: there's been I mean a lot of these places online,
- 18:52Speaker 1: there's a couple of there's a couple of places that
- 18:54Speaker 1: have these swim whale lines online. They have all these
- 18:56Speaker 1: winestones and all this stuff, and then you're like trying
- 18:59Speaker 1: to wear it and it's so heavy, so now it's
- 19:01Speaker 1: falling here or it's like it's not covering you, and
- 19:04Speaker 1: then you don't feel comfortable wearing it because you feel like, yeah,
- 19:08Speaker 1: it's not covering you to the point where it's like
- 19:13Speaker 1: you feel comfortable walking around in it. I feel like
- 19:15Speaker 1: I feel like it could be beautiful. I mean, especially
- 19:18Speaker 1: for a woman my age. Yeah, but I would like
- 19:21Speaker 1: something more, maybe stardy. I feel like some of they're
- 19:24Speaker 1: not stardy. They're beautiful, but I feel like I'm just
- 19:26Speaker 1: I could just look at them and say, woll they're
- 19:27Speaker 1: beautiful down and I put it on me. I don't
- 19:29Speaker 1: feel like it's like sturdy.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Like you only wear it once. They're like for a
- 19:32Speaker 3: photo or something.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, do you do you find that with the other
- 19:36Speaker 1: swimming lines? Did you do you notice that with the
- 19:38Speaker 1: other people who are selling them like online and stuff
- 19:41Speaker 1: like that, these other brands, Because I mean that's what
- 19:44Speaker 1: I've been noticing the last couple of years, is that
- 19:47Speaker 1: that's what's going on.
- 19:48Speaker 4: No, definitely, I think Also, I mean those are great
- 19:50Speaker 4: for like statement pieces, but like you said, like, if
- 19:52Speaker 4: I'm gonna tan, I don't really want to be like
- 19:54Speaker 4: trying to tan in there's some state where I'm like uncomfortable.
- 19:56Speaker 3: If you're like, you know, I feel like.
- 19:58Speaker 4: In the quality is really important but yeah, I think
- 20:02Speaker 4: something that's more like simple can be go a long
- 20:04Speaker 4: way than something that's so crazy yeah so or.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Neat, so something that is beautiful but not that you
- 20:11Speaker 1: that you're like, Okay, I'm only wearing it for a
- 20:13Speaker 1: photo shoot, but you want something that you could jump
- 20:15Speaker 1: in the water and jump in the ocean and get
- 20:17Speaker 1: wet and you know it's not going to be hanging off,
- 20:19Speaker 1: it's not gonna fall off of me. I'm gonna walk
- 20:21Speaker 1: out of it off my body in two seconds. Like yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 1: that's what I always find with bathing suits that if
- 20:27Speaker 1: I mean, some of them are so beautiful, but then
- 20:29Speaker 1: like you try to put them on and this is
- 20:30Speaker 1: what happens. But I think it's also the confidence of
- 20:34Speaker 1: wearing something, you know, a big bikinis. Do you feel
- 20:38Speaker 1: that people are going more towards one piece bathing suits
- 20:41Speaker 1: downs if you notice that the last couple of years,
- 20:43Speaker 1: that that that they're coming kind of back again, that
- 20:46Speaker 1: people like the one pieces.
- 20:47Speaker 3: No, definitely, they're definitely coming back.
- 20:49Speaker 4: I do see in mine a lot of people do
- 20:51Speaker 4: like my two piece bikinis just because the way it
- 20:54Speaker 4: cuts you and for tanning purposes as well. But the
- 20:57Speaker 4: one pieces are Actually I think they're nice because you
- 21:00Speaker 4: kind of, I guess, wear them. Let's say, if you're
- 21:02Speaker 4: handing all day and then at night you could put
- 21:04Speaker 4: on a skirt if it goes and kind of like
- 21:06Speaker 4: wear its beach party. So it's kind of more like
- 21:07Speaker 4: useful sustainable.
- 21:09Speaker 1: So it's more of a like it's like it's it's
- 21:13Speaker 1: it's reusual actually because I wear it all day and
- 21:16Speaker 1: then and then just put a pair of pants on
- 21:18Speaker 1: and hanging out the rest of the night, which is
- 21:19Speaker 1: which is cool.
- 21:20Speaker 4: I have this on one one piece that it's like
- 21:22Speaker 4: a tourk coourse blue on name one side, So you
- 21:24Speaker 4: wear that during the day and.
- 21:25Speaker 3: If you reversed it's shiny. Oh, you wear that night.
- 21:28Speaker 3: So it gives you like two in one.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I love that. That's great.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Maybe you could try that.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Oh I would love to try that one. And that
- 21:34Speaker 1: sounds so nice. I think that's beautiful. What's your favorite color?
- 21:39Speaker 4: I really like yellow because I feel like it's hard
- 21:41Speaker 4: to pull off and I feel like I can pull
- 21:43Speaker 4: it off.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah, do you like it in the in bathing suits?
- 21:47Speaker 1: For using it for the color to make your bathing
- 21:49Speaker 1: suits with? Like? Is what's your favorite colors to use
- 21:52Speaker 1: as for your bathing suits.
- 21:54Speaker 3: That's what bathing suits.
- 21:55Speaker 4: My favorite color, I would say right now is like
- 21:58Speaker 4: kind of like an emerald green. I just think it's
- 22:00Speaker 4: like sexy or like a shiny like lyrax pattern, because
- 22:04Speaker 4: like in the sun, it shines and it just makes
- 22:06Speaker 4: it like more elevated you.
- 22:07Speaker 1: You kind of look like a fish too, that's true.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Green is a great column. I love Emma green because
- 22:13Speaker 1: it looks good with my hair color looks. Yeah, I
- 22:16Speaker 1: love Ammo green.
- 22:16Speaker 3: You could get me that one too. About I have
- 22:20Speaker 3: a fashion show and tell me which one you like.
- 22:23Speaker 1: What is your favorite design? And for clothing?
- 22:26Speaker 3: My favorite design have for clothing? O, this is a
- 22:29Speaker 3: hard one. I like this one. It's called Mana de Vere.
- 22:31Speaker 4: It's a French brand, and I have like a petite figure,
- 22:35Speaker 4: so it really hut sneat perfectly and it's never too
- 22:38Speaker 4: big or small of me.
- 22:39Speaker 3: You should try it out. It's really nice.
- 22:40Speaker 1: And I listen, I was in Saint Martin and I
- 22:43Speaker 1: can't believe. And they have a lot of obviously it's
- 22:45Speaker 1: a French island where they have French and Dutch island
- 22:47Speaker 1: and the French side and even with the clothes, like
- 22:50Speaker 1: in the little boutiques, they're so well made, it's so beautiful.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Like why do we have it in America?
- 22:56Speaker 1: Yeah, why don't we have this? And it's like that's
- 22:59Speaker 1: probably like the are their equivalent to like H and
- 23:02Speaker 1: M or something, and they're so well made. Even in
- 23:05Speaker 1: Italy the same thing too. I went into these small
- 23:07Speaker 1: little boutiquess and they weren't that expensive.
- 23:09Speaker 3: But the clothes was so you feel like they put
- 23:12Speaker 3: their hard.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Right like I'm like, I'm like, and it's probably like
- 23:14Speaker 1: their equivalent of like a supposed tore that like a
- 23:17Speaker 1: garage or like an HM that we go to it
- 23:19Speaker 1: and you get so beautiful, like it's not like couture,
- 23:22Speaker 1: but nice, nice stopping. We don't have that.
- 23:25Speaker 4: It's hard a shop here anymore. I feel like it's
- 23:27Speaker 4: a boring it's my shop online now.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Yeah me too, but you know what it's with me.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I do like to try things on. Sometimes. I don't
- 23:34Speaker 1: all the time, but I do, and I also like
- 23:36Speaker 1: to see it in person, like so I don't. I'm
- 23:38Speaker 1: gonna be honest, I don't always try everything on, but
- 23:41Speaker 1: I do like to feel it and touch it because
- 23:45Speaker 1: you know, it does look different when it's in the picture,
- 23:47Speaker 1: it does and you get it. You're like, what the frecusition? Right?
- 23:50Speaker 1: It's crazy. How do you cast your models? When you
- 23:54Speaker 1: cast your models? Sorry, that's that's a question I wanted
- 23:58Speaker 1: to ask.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Yeah, of course I'm casting my models.
- 24:00Speaker 4: So I used to like kind of just post something online,
- 24:03Speaker 4: say open casting, and then I would see type of
- 24:05Speaker 4: like exposure to get from that, and then I also
- 24:07Speaker 4: have agencies and then girls just do my show every year.
- 24:11Speaker 4: But this year I'm going to be making it more
- 24:13Speaker 4: a little more exclusive and like hand picking my models
- 24:16Speaker 4: to make it more just like I really want that signed,
- 24:18Speaker 4: like good model that knows how to walk.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, because you know, if they don't want to
- 24:22Speaker 1: walk there.
- 24:23Speaker 4: It looks they have more followers they can walk on
- 24:25Speaker 4: the runway, right exactly.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Yeah, because because you know what, once you put those
- 24:29Speaker 1: shoes on and you walk, it does make everything look
- 24:32Speaker 1: bad if it's a bad walker. Yeah, because everyone was
- 24:34Speaker 1: just looking at the way that was stomping around. There
- 24:38Speaker 1: was one girl that was walking around like that. I
- 24:40Speaker 1: don't know if it was because I don't know if
- 24:43Speaker 1: it was because of the shoe. I felt like she
- 24:45Speaker 1: thought she was gonna slip in her shoe.
- 24:47Speaker 3: Maybe she was over thinking it, yes.
- 24:49Speaker 1: And I think that that was why. But you know
- 24:50Speaker 1: it was it was cute, but she she got it
- 24:53Speaker 1: together at the end. But I saw her coming and
- 24:56Speaker 1: I thought, I think it was her shoe. Okay, that
- 24:58Speaker 1: was making up because that's that all it could be
- 25:00Speaker 1: a problem, that's all right.
- 25:01Speaker 3: And it is a short runway, so you kind of
- 25:03Speaker 3: have to know what you're doing.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Right, you know that wind up in the pool, you
- 25:06Speaker 1: know what I mean there, Maybe she was like, I
- 25:10Speaker 1: don't want to slip it. But also I was it
- 25:13Speaker 1: was like a smooth runway, so maybe it was probably
- 25:17Speaker 1: did you guys practice on that runway too?
- 25:19Speaker 4: So no, he didn't have to, I know. Okay, so
- 25:21Speaker 4: we did like a fake runway downstairs. Yeah, but I
- 25:25Speaker 4: feel like you should just know what you're doing out there.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Absolutely, you should be prepared for anything. As a model,
- 25:29Speaker 1: you have to be prepared for that. But but yeah,
- 25:31Speaker 1: because it it was I could see that. I think
- 25:34Speaker 1: with her with her shoe, I think that's what it was.
- 25:36Speaker 4: It was.
- 25:36Speaker 3: It was she was thinking it.
- 25:38Speaker 1: And so my grandmother wasn't design it too, so I did.
- 25:41Speaker 1: She used to work for Henry Bendall. She wrote, used
- 25:43Speaker 1: to work for only Cassini and then she designed. She
- 25:46Speaker 1: started designing her all clothes too, so I you know,
- 25:48Speaker 1: I know a lot about She's a was a pattern
- 25:51Speaker 1: maker for them too. But so I used we used
- 25:54Speaker 1: to I used to go with harder fashion shows in
- 25:57Speaker 1: like the seventies and eighties when I was a kid.
- 26:00Speaker 3: So it was so cool back.
- 26:01Speaker 1: It was so cool back then. It was so New
- 26:03Speaker 1: York and so chic. It was like the coolest thing,
- 26:05Speaker 1: like you know, they had like you know, they would
- 26:07Speaker 1: wear the total New York. Then it was like how
- 26:10Speaker 1: you picture it is. How it was like how you're
- 26:12Speaker 1: picturing that was how it was.
- 26:13Speaker 3: It was great.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a different time then, but it was cool.
- 26:18Speaker 1: But then you could bring that that that that New
- 26:20Speaker 1: York swag back and I think you're already doing that
- 26:23Speaker 1: because you're doing something new that's.
- 26:25Speaker 4: True and just it more like like a little pizzaz
- 26:28Speaker 4: Like have you seen the show It was like christ
- 26:30Speaker 4: Christian Lubton. I think it was during Paraslash week. It
- 26:34Speaker 4: was a fashion show and they end up in the
- 26:36Speaker 4: water doing like eight secretized swimming with their shoes up.
- 26:40Speaker 3: I love that, and I was like, that's a show.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I love that. My friend is a kindosur with Christian
- 26:46Speaker 1: litt Biton's I think she's about it has about one
- 26:48Speaker 1: hundred and twenty pairs of them. She's crazy and he
- 26:50Speaker 1: actually knows how, like the probably she's called New York
- 26:53Speaker 1: Shoe Queen on Instagram. She's yeah, they're all the designers
- 26:56Speaker 1: know how, because she boughts so many shoes from them.
- 26:58Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 26:58Speaker 3: You can never have enough shoes, I know.
- 27:00Speaker 1: But but honestly, you know, I love Lubaiton's what they
- 27:04Speaker 1: hurt if I want to pay that much money for
- 27:07Speaker 1: shoes there, but I feel like I'm walking on pillows exactly.
- 27:10Speaker 1: That's the way I'm saying. But I always say if
- 27:12Speaker 1: they hurt, they look really good, because you know, you hard.
- 27:16Speaker 3: It's like the only pain I'll take with my shoes.
- 27:20Speaker 1: So I'm so glad that you came on today, and
- 27:24Speaker 1: I'm happy that you know that everything's going so well
- 27:26Speaker 1: for you. And I love to have you back, you know,
- 27:29Speaker 1: and and discuss like the next fashion you know show
- 27:33Speaker 1: and what's coming up next for you.
- 27:34Speaker 3: I would love that, Okay, yeah, I would love to
- 27:36Speaker 3: come back. I thanks for having me.
