This fall, Brooklyn transforms into a living gallery as fifty life-size buffalo puppets march through the streets in a powerful performance art piece called “Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi.” Created by artist Amir Nizar Zuabi and Indigenous elders from the Lakota and Lenape tribes, the event tells the buffalo’s dramatic story—from near extinction to global conservation triumph—and mirrors America’s own journey of loss, resilience, and renewal.
